- 0:00Speaker 1: Hanging for Mark.
- 0:01Speaker 2: Here's Ken Rosatto and it's always an honor to do so.
- 0:04Speaker 2: A Happy Thursday to you. And yes, I was the
- 0:07Speaker 2: guy who was on TV in New York for about
- 0:09Speaker 2: a thousand years, back when TV was a fake cardboard
- 0:12Speaker 2: box and a little piece of plastic and somebody would
- 0:14Speaker 2: sit inside the box and say, Hello, Sunday, we'll have
- 0:17Speaker 2: a TV. I've got Rosatto And yeah, I used to
- 0:20Speaker 2: be on Channel seven. I was there for twenty years. Yes,
- 0:23Speaker 2: they literally built the station around my body. I spent
- 0:27Speaker 2: some time anchoring Good Day in New York as well
- 0:30Speaker 2: on Channel five. That was a good time. Now I
- 0:32Speaker 2: host a daily show on a New Jersey based news channel.
- 0:36Speaker 2: It is called on New Jersey. We talked about that
- 0:38Speaker 2: in the last hour. It's one of these new streaming
- 0:41Speaker 2: channels which is free to the public. It's the next level.
- 0:45Speaker 2: The next generation of television is now this best. People
- 0:48Speaker 2: cut the cord. They don't want to pay for cable anymore.
- 0:50Speaker 2: So these channels are called fast channels, and they are
- 0:53Speaker 2: free and you can get them when you buy your
- 0:56Speaker 2: like Samsung TV or Sony whatever. They come with like
- 0:59Speaker 2: a thousand channels that are free. That's one of the
- 1:01Speaker 2: channels that I'm on on New Jersey. You can also
- 1:04Speaker 2: stream it on your phone at ONNJ dot com. And
- 1:07Speaker 2: I run a food website for you, Foodias. If you're
- 1:09Speaker 2: like me and you love food and all things food,
- 1:12Speaker 2: go to Thefooddude dot us. It's one hundred percent free
- 1:16Speaker 2: Thefooddude dot Us.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Well, we got a.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Lot to talk about today. Our phone lines are open.
- 1:22Speaker 2: We'd love for you to call up take part in
- 1:24Speaker 2: the conversation today, and the number is always is one
- 1:27Speaker 2: eight hundred three two one zero seven ten eight hundred
- 1:31Speaker 2: three two one zero seven ten. Well, of course, tonight
- 1:35Speaker 2: is the big Mayl Debate. It's on Channel four from
- 1:38Speaker 2: seven to nine, and David Ushery is going to be
- 1:41Speaker 2: taking care. David is awesome, so he'll do a great job.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Love David works with him. In fact, when I started
- 1:48Speaker 2: at Channel seven, David had just left Channel seven to
- 1:51Speaker 2: go to Channel four, and I had only met him
- 1:54Speaker 2: a couple of times, But anytime we see each other,
- 1:56Speaker 2: he could not be a nicer guy. And I know
- 1:58Speaker 2: he's going to do great. So, of course you have Curtis, Mom,
- 2:01Speaker 2: Donnie and Andrew Cuomo. Tonight, we have a lot of
- 2:05Speaker 2: people who are supporting Curtis. Even though he is third
- 2:07Speaker 2: in the polls, he still believes he has that shot,
- 2:10Speaker 2: and we keep our fingers crossed for him. Jeanne MONDAMMI
- 2:12Speaker 2: and Andrew Clomo believed that migrants should vote. I say no.
- 2:15Speaker 1: They of phon no cash bail, I say no.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Mom. Donnie in the meantime has his own beliefs, of course,
- 2:21Speaker 2: and he has not been secretive about it. Yesterday, of
- 2:25Speaker 2: course he was on Fox News Channel. They could not
- 2:27Speaker 2: nail him down on a few things. Here's Mom Donnie
- 2:30Speaker 2: talking about Andrew Cuomo.
- 2:32Speaker 3: Andrew, you had your chance to lead this state. You
- 2:34Speaker 3: took that time to sell out working class New Yorkers
- 2:37Speaker 3: to your billionaire donors, and instead of actually meeting the
- 2:41Speaker 3: needs of people who couldn't afford to live in the city,
- 2:43Speaker 3: you gave nine hundred and fifty nine million dollars in
- 2:45Speaker 3: tax breaks to Elon Musk. And now you want us
- 2:47Speaker 3: to believe that we can't spend less money than that
- 2:50Speaker 3: to make every bus fast and free in the same.
- 2:51Speaker 2: City fast and free. First of all, buses can't be
- 2:54Speaker 2: fast because the roads are congested. As long as you
- 2:58Speaker 2: make bike lanes everywhere. They're ubiquitous in New York City.
- 3:02Speaker 2: You know streets that are supposed to be made for vehicles,
- 3:05Speaker 2: and buy vehicles, I mean cars and trucks. You know,
- 3:09Speaker 2: liberals love their little bithickles. Let's get a little bithickles jingcingching.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Even people on bikes can't get from point A to
- 3:16Speaker 2: point B quickly. We do need roads for things like
- 3:20Speaker 2: cars and trucks. I will never understand it. I have
- 3:23Speaker 2: relatives and friends who live in Manhattan, and they get
- 3:26Speaker 2: very manhattan centric and arrogant and selfish about it, and
- 3:29Speaker 2: they say, basically, they just want their street locked down
- 3:32Speaker 2: and shut down forgetting that. You know what, You still
- 3:34Speaker 2: have to get food delivered to the restaurants. You still
- 3:36Speaker 2: want your Amazon package delivered to you, but you don't
- 3:39Speaker 2: want any means for that. You don't want the roads
- 3:41Speaker 2: to be utilized by motor vehicles. Can't have it both ways, folks.
- 3:44Speaker 2: If you want to live in a three thousand foot
- 3:47Speaker 2: tall building and have twenty thousand people in that building,
- 3:50Speaker 2: somehow you have to get supplies to them, and you're
- 3:52Speaker 2: not going to get it with somebody walking in or
- 3:54Speaker 2: coming in with a donkey. Okay, that's not the way
- 3:57Speaker 2: it works. You need motor vehicles. And then, of course
- 4:00Speaker 2: Cuomo is going to be there tonight as well, and
- 4:02Speaker 2: I'm sure he'll have his opinions about his two people
- 4:05Speaker 2: he's running against.
- 4:06Speaker 4: Mister Mandami's plan for Rikers Island is either incoherent and
- 4:15Speaker 4: incompetent or diabolically manipulated.
- 4:21Speaker 2: It almost took twenty seconds for him to say diabolically manipulative.
- 4:30Speaker 2: I was talking to my almost ninety five year old
- 4:33Speaker 2: father the other day about this, God bless him, and
- 4:37Speaker 2: we were talking about the cadence of Andrew Cuomo's voice
- 4:41Speaker 2: and how Mario Cuomo rest his soul. And I had
- 4:44Speaker 2: met Mario Cuomo a number of times. Mario Cuomo kind
- 4:47Speaker 2: of had that unusual cadence, that strange accent, strange by us.
- 4:52Speaker 2: It's sort of the Queen's accent from the nineteen fifties,
- 4:56Speaker 2: which for those I'm like an accent nut, the Queen's
- 4:59Speaker 2: accent from the nnineteen fifties has almost a Boston sound
- 5:03Speaker 2: mixed in with a strange slow cad So Mario Cuomo
- 5:06Speaker 2: sort of had that. Andrew Cuomo sounds like he's trying
- 5:09Speaker 2: to copy his dad. But going at one third the speed.
- 5:13Speaker 2: So you have this very slow cade. Thence Mark does
- 5:19Speaker 2: andrew much better than me. I'm not going to try
- 5:22Speaker 2: to keep going, but nonetheless, we'll see what happens tonight.
- 5:26Speaker 2: You have Zoron Mamdani in the polls leading by anywhere
- 5:29Speaker 2: from nine to eleven points right now, but who knows.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Hopefully people will watch tonight and they'll learn more about
- 5:36Speaker 2: what's going on, and also, more importantly, hopefully more people
- 5:40Speaker 2: come out and vote. Don't let the next mayor of
- 5:44Speaker 2: New York get decided on by about ten or fifteen
- 5:47Speaker 2: percent of eligible voters. That is just antithetical to our
- 5:51Speaker 2: democratic republic. Seven ten wore the Voice of New York.
- 5:56Speaker 2: It's Ken Rozotto. I'm in for Mark, and Mark will
- 5:59Speaker 2: be back tomorrow. For those wondering, Ken, we like you,
- 6:01Speaker 2: but get lost, we want Mark back. While I'm with you,
- 6:04Speaker 2: I like listening to the Mark two. I've tried my best,
- 6:06Speaker 2: so bear with me. We will take your calls at
- 6:08Speaker 2: eight hundred three to two one zero seven ten. Eight
- 6:12Speaker 2: hundred three two one zero seven ten. Well, now we
- 6:16Speaker 2: also have big news about the shutdown. The government shutdown.
- 6:20Speaker 2: The Senate held yet another vote yesterday. They're holding another
- 6:23Speaker 2: one today on whether to accept the continuing resolution to
- 6:28Speaker 2: reopen the federal government. Once again, the Democrats stood firm,
- 6:32Speaker 2: voting against the plan, thus keeping the government closed. So
- 6:36Speaker 2: when Marcus said this before, I've said this on my
- 6:39Speaker 2: show in New Jersey, this is the Schumer shutdown. Why
- 6:43Speaker 2: everybody in the House on the Republican side passed the
- 6:47Speaker 2: continuing resolution to continue the spending plan that was voted
- 6:51Speaker 2: on and approved by Democrats a year ago under Biden?
- 6:55Speaker 2: So why was it okay then? And we're only talking
- 6:58Speaker 2: about passing a continuing red that will last a few
- 7:01Speaker 2: weeks so we can continue the debate for the new budget.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Why was it okay then when Biden was president? But
- 7:08Speaker 2: it's not okay now. Democrats huhm. It is a as
- 7:12Speaker 2: they call a clean bill, meaning it was exactly a
- 7:15Speaker 2: continuation of the existing budget, and Democrats won't vote for
- 7:19Speaker 2: that in the Senate. Remember, in the Senate, you need
- 7:23Speaker 2: sixty votes to pass a spending measure, not just a
- 7:26Speaker 2: simple majority. Republicans have the simple majority, but they don't
- 7:29Speaker 2: have sixty votes. And CHUCKI, Chuck Schumer is ensuring that
- 7:33Speaker 2: they will not give any votes to the Republicans to
- 7:38Speaker 2: pass this. It's not just the Republicans, Chuck E Chuck,
- 7:41Speaker 2: it's to the nation. You complain for years that the
- 7:44Speaker 2: very thing we can have is a government shut down.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Well your party is causing it. This is the Schumer
- 7:50Speaker 2: shut down. So now Donald Trump has a middle finger
- 7:54Speaker 2: back to Chucky Chuck, saying that, you know what, the
- 7:57Speaker 2: Gateway Tunnel project, which is for billions of dollars and
- 8:02Speaker 2: is going to employ thousands of people in New York
- 8:05Speaker 2: and New Jersey for that matter. The Gateway Tunnel project
- 8:08Speaker 2: was made possible by a grant, a grant, not a
- 8:13Speaker 2: congressionally approved amount of money, but a grant signed in
- 8:18Speaker 2: by President Biden. And now that the government is shut down,
- 8:21Speaker 2: President Trump is the chief executive. He runs everything when
- 8:25Speaker 2: Congress is out because they're they're broke, right, the government's
- 8:28Speaker 2: shut down. So he has canceled the grant. He didn't
- 8:32Speaker 2: say temporarily. He said it's terminated, Chucky Chuck. This was
- 8:35Speaker 2: something that Chucky Chuck worked on for twenty years. This
- 8:38Speaker 2: was going to be what he left his legacy, and
- 8:41Speaker 2: it's now shut down.
- 8:42Speaker 5: Here was Trump yesterday, we're terminating those programs and they're
- 8:46Speaker 5: going to be terminated on a permanent basis. And it's
- 8:49Speaker 5: thousands of people, and it's you know, billions of dollars.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what it is. CHUCKI Chuck. So now his
- 8:55Speaker 2: legacy is mud okay, and we all have to suffer
- 8:58Speaker 2: for it. By the way, yes, we need that tunnel.
- 9:01Speaker 2: We had mikeah Rasmussen from the Rebevision Institute at Writer
- 9:04Speaker 2: University on in the last hour. He's a friend of mine,
- 9:07Speaker 2: a political expert, and he pointed out that, yeah, everybody's
- 9:10Speaker 2: going to suffer because we need this tunnel. The tunnel
- 9:13Speaker 2: right now that connects New York and New Jersey is
- 9:16Speaker 2: what actually connects the entire Northeast Corridor for Amtrak and
- 9:19Speaker 2: all the other trains. And the tunnel is over one
- 9:21Speaker 2: hundred years old. The tracks are crumbling. We need a
- 9:25Speaker 2: new tunnel with new tracks and new technology. And now
- 9:28Speaker 2: it looks like we have a major setback. Do not
- 9:31Speaker 2: blame Donald Trump for it. You want to have that
- 9:33Speaker 2: track back, you got to open up the government, Chuck E. Chuck,
- 9:36Speaker 2: get your couple of Democrats in the Senate. All you
- 9:39Speaker 2: need is four or five Democrats to vote along with
- 9:42Speaker 2: every one of the Republicans except for one. The one
- 9:45Speaker 2: is Rand Paul. But every other Republican is supporting this.
- 9:49Speaker 2: Get to work and you could have your money back
- 9:52Speaker 2: in the meantime. Sorry, but it's going to be shut down.
- 9:55Speaker 2: Governor hokel all of shit about it yesterday said this, I'm.
- 10:00Speaker 6: Not sticking it to New York. This is the Northeastern Corridor.
- 10:02Speaker 6: To make sure that our tunnels are safe. They're damaged
- 10:05Speaker 6: by Superstorm Sandy. They're over one hundred years old. We
- 10:08Speaker 6: need to replace them because if this system of transportation collapses,
- 10:12Speaker 6: the Northeastern economy and the economy the country collapsed.
- 10:16Speaker 1: So why be so shortsighted.
- 10:18Speaker 2: Well, maybe you could talk to Chucky Chuck Schumer about that, Kathy,
- 10:21Speaker 2: and get a couple of Democrats to support the continuing
- 10:25Speaker 2: Resolution to reopen the government and we could get it back.
- 10:28Speaker 2: Do not put the blame in the wrong place. This
- 10:31Speaker 2: lies strictly with the Democrats in the Senate. Eight hundred
- 10:35Speaker 2: three to two one zero seven ten, eight hundred three
- 10:38Speaker 2: to two one zero seven ten. You're listening to seven
- 10:41Speaker 2: ten wo R the Voice of New York. This is
- 10:44Speaker 2: Canrosatto in for the Great Mark Simon mister New York
- 10:48Speaker 2: Mark has a day off, but he will be back
- 10:50Speaker 2: tomorrow so you and I both get to listen to it. Hey,
- 10:54Speaker 2: are you a fan of the late Diane Keaton? Was
- 10:56Speaker 2: she not amazing? A wonderful actress? She had just such
- 11:01Speaker 2: a likable way about her and everything that she did.
- 11:03Speaker 2: And we now find out how she died. We find
- 11:06Speaker 2: out that it was from pneumonia at the age of
- 11:09Speaker 2: seventy nine. You'll recall she died last Saturday. May she
- 11:12Speaker 2: rest in peace. And Mss Keaton, thank you. I was
- 11:15Speaker 2: a big fan. Thank you for the many years of
- 11:17Speaker 2: joy that you gave to so many people. Just a wonderful,
- 11:21Speaker 2: wonderful actress. Katie Porter remains absolutely cuckookachew missus Robinson nuts.
- 11:28Speaker 2: That's the congresswoman from California who's running for governor of
- 11:32Speaker 2: the Golden State. While she sat down for another interview
- 11:35Speaker 2: and she could not confirm to the reporter that there
- 11:39Speaker 2: weren't more videos of her screaming, losing her cool and
- 11:43Speaker 2: being angry, the reporter asked her several times, can you
- 11:47Speaker 2: tell me right now that we will not find another
- 11:49Speaker 2: video of you popping up on the days ahead, And
- 11:52Speaker 2: she just said, I've learned from my mistakes. I'm wrong,
- 11:58Speaker 2: I'm trying to do my best. The answer is yeah,
- 12:01Speaker 2: there are probably tons of videos out there. Why because
- 12:03Speaker 2: she's crazy. She is crazy. This is a woman you
- 12:06Speaker 2: could tell and boy, I'm going to give you my
- 12:09Speaker 2: dime store psychology here. This is a woman who was
- 12:12Speaker 2: never told no. This is a woman who was never
- 12:14Speaker 2: criticized by mommy and daddy, and you could just tell
- 12:18Speaker 2: she just got away. She was my daddy's little princess
- 12:20Speaker 2: and told that she could have anything she wants because
- 12:23Speaker 2: anyone who does anything around her that she disagrees with,
- 12:26Speaker 2: she just blows up at. Her own husband divorced her,
- 12:28Speaker 2: she dumped. According to the divorce filing, she allegedly dumped
- 12:34Speaker 2: boiling hot water with mashed potatoes on his head, causing
- 12:37Speaker 2: him to get scalded. Who does that? I mean, even
- 12:40Speaker 2: if you were seriously angry at somebody, if you ever
- 12:42Speaker 2: thought about taking a boiling hot pot of something and
- 12:46Speaker 2: dumping it on their heads, who does this? She may
- 12:49Speaker 2: have a very serious anger management issue, just based on
- 12:52Speaker 2: the videos we've seen and reading about that this is
- 12:56Speaker 2: just not acceptable. Yet she has a lead in the
- 12:59Speaker 2: polls right now in California fifteen percent granted, and there's
- 13:04Speaker 2: a big pool of people running for governor. It's not
- 13:07Speaker 2: in this November's election, by the way, it is next
- 13:09Speaker 2: November's election. But the idea that there are people in
- 13:12Speaker 2: the Democrat Party who are so crazy in California that
- 13:15Speaker 2: they are still standing behind her because as far as
- 13:18Speaker 2: she's concerned, she can do no wrong as far as
- 13:22Speaker 2: they're concerned, I should say. And while she is in
- 13:24Speaker 2: the lead, there are other candidates you people in California,
- 13:28Speaker 2: you know, including other Democrat candidates. By the way, although
- 13:32Speaker 2: if you're a political junkie like me, you probably would
- 13:35Speaker 2: support Steve Hilton, the guy who used to be on
- 13:38Speaker 2: Fox News Channel. He's the guy with the British accent.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Super brilliant. He just became a US citizen in the
- 13:44Speaker 2: last few years, very proud to be and he is
- 13:47Speaker 2: very proud to be running for governor of California. Remember
- 13:50Speaker 2: Arnold Schwarzenegger was a man who was a naturalized US
- 13:53Speaker 2: citizen as well, and he was a very successful governor
- 13:56Speaker 2: there in the past. So we'll see what happens. Steve
- 14:00Speaker 2: Elton's not too far behind. He's about ten percent in
- 14:03Speaker 2: the polls still have a year ago, but throw your
- 14:06Speaker 2: support behind somebody out there, hopefully somebody on the right.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Seven ten w R the Voice of New York. This
- 14:12Speaker 2: is Ken Rosatto in for the Great marximone on your Thursday,
- 14:16Speaker 2: eight hundred three to two one zero seven ten. If
- 14:18Speaker 2: you'd like to call in, we're going to take calls
- 14:20Speaker 2: next eight hundred three two one zero seven ten. Beautiful
- 14:24Speaker 2: sunny day today. Hihes today in the upper fifties. Time
- 14:27Speaker 2: is eleven twenty one. Will be right back filling.
- 14:30Speaker 1: In for Mark. Here again is Ken Rosatto.
- 14:33Speaker 2: I we're gonna go to our phones in just a second.
- 14:35Speaker 2: I just want to give you some breaking news. The
- 14:36Speaker 2: Justice Department is apparently expected to present a possible criminal
- 14:40Speaker 2: case and seek a grand jury indictment against former National
- 14:44Speaker 2: Security advisor John Bolton as soon as this afternoon at
- 14:48Speaker 2: a federal courthouse in Maryland. That information, of course, is
- 14:50Speaker 2: based on according to sources. They're saying that John Bolton,
- 14:54Speaker 2: when he worked in the first Trump administration, he was
- 14:57Speaker 2: somewhat of an anti Trumper, and that he was alleged
- 15:00Speaker 2: using his AOL his private AOL account. Yes, I have
- 15:04Speaker 2: an Aol account too, he was using allegedly his private
- 15:07Speaker 2: AOL account to transmit information that may have been classified
- 15:12Speaker 2: so that he could have it at home and then
- 15:13Speaker 2: work on this book and memoir and everything else. So
- 15:16Speaker 2: now it looks like he may very well be indicted today.
- 15:18Speaker 2: They already rated at his house. So we'll see what happened.
- 15:21Speaker 2: And you heard it right here at seven ten Wy
- 15:23Speaker 2: to eleven thirty ed in Huntington. Good morning to.
- 15:25Speaker 7: You, Hey, good morning. I had three quick points about
- 15:30Speaker 7: the Affordable Care Act, but I didn't want to ask
- 15:32Speaker 7: you something else. Orn't you want to show with Matt
- 15:35Speaker 7: Pruss and years ago on Channel fifty five?
- 15:37Speaker 2: I sure was that was you're talking about nineteen ninety five.
- 15:43Speaker 2: You got a good memory thirty years ago?
- 15:46Speaker 7: Yes, I was, yeah, so quickly. This whole debate is
- 15:50Speaker 7: about the money to the Affordable Care Act. When my
- 15:53Speaker 7: wife was fiance, she had a four thousand dollars deductible
- 15:57Speaker 7: before she got any money back.
- 15:58Speaker 8: Wow.
- 15:58Speaker 7: And when the originally passed the law, they get young
- 16:01Speaker 7: people would sign up and not use the benefits so
- 16:04Speaker 7: that money would be used self. They can affordable. But
- 16:08Speaker 7: then they change the law because actually if they didn't join,
- 16:11Speaker 7: they were going to be taxed and it would go
- 16:13Speaker 7: up every year, but they changed the lot. They weren't
- 16:15Speaker 7: going to do that. And then finally the interest from
- 16:18Speaker 7: the student loan program and Obama took it over. Was
- 16:21Speaker 7: supposed to pay for this, but what did Biden do.
- 16:24Speaker 7: He stopped having them pay their loans back even if
- 16:27Speaker 7: the COVID it was over, so all the funds that
- 16:29Speaker 7: were supposed to support this program were gone. It's a
- 16:32Speaker 7: terrible law.
- 16:33Speaker 2: Hoe. This is what happens when democrats are in charge. See,
- 16:35Speaker 2: democrats believe you just print money and it's all good.
- 16:38Speaker 2: But the problem is when you just keep printing money,
- 16:40Speaker 2: that's like taking money out of someone's pocket. Because see
- 16:43Speaker 2: a lot of liberals don't get it that when you
- 16:46Speaker 2: print more money, it devalues the money that you personally
- 16:50Speaker 2: have in your pocket. Right now, if there's a billion
- 16:52Speaker 2: dollars on the planet and you have a dollar in
- 16:55Speaker 2: your pocket, now we're going to print an additional billion dollars,
- 16:58Speaker 2: that means the dollar in your pocket is now worth
- 17:00Speaker 2: fifty cents, and you did nothing about it. That's what
- 17:03Speaker 2: happens when democrats are in charge. Ed, I appreciate the
- 17:05Speaker 2: phone call, but he nailed it. Ed is right on it.
- 17:07Speaker 2: Stuart and South Carolina. Good morning, sir, Hey, how are you.
- 17:12Speaker 9: I've talked to you before.
- 17:12Speaker 8: I've been a PLOCEO off for forty eight years. And
- 17:15Speaker 8: what Donnie said about NYPD is exactly how he feels.
- 17:20Speaker 8: He can apologize all he wants, but it's not sincere.
- 17:25Speaker 10: He hates them to me?
- 17:28Speaker 8: Can a vote for Mom Donnie is a vote for
- 17:31Speaker 8: Muhammad Adda? They're the same people, they have the same ideology.
- 17:37Speaker 9: And Cuomo is responsible for thousands of deaths. How can
- 17:41Speaker 9: these two people even be on the ticket? I think
- 17:44Speaker 9: Curtis is the only answer. But I don't believe Curtis
- 17:47Speaker 9: has a chance. Out of eight million people, twenty two
- 17:50Speaker 9: percent of the eight million vote, fifteen or sixteen percent
- 17:55Speaker 9: of them elect the mayor. I think Mam Donnie is
- 17:59Speaker 9: a shoeing.
- 18:00Speaker 8: Unfortunately, he's going to destroy New York City.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll see what happens tonight. May may be pivotal.
- 18:06Speaker 2: I just hope people watch for those who don't realize
- 18:08Speaker 2: the mayoral debates tonight. They're on Channel four. You can
- 18:12Speaker 2: watch it streaming on their website too. If you don't
- 18:14Speaker 2: have a lot of people don't have TV anymore, and
- 18:16Speaker 2: you could stream it on wnbctv's website, but they are
- 18:20Speaker 2: on channel four seventy pm. Yeah, seven pm to nine pm.
- 18:24Speaker 2: You could watch it down there in South Carolina. And
- 18:26Speaker 2: every time you call Stewart, I always say, you don't
- 18:28Speaker 2: sound like you could be the age that you are.
- 18:30Speaker 2: I guess in your sixties or or older. You don't
- 18:32Speaker 2: sat you sound about.
- 18:33Speaker 11: Half that I'll bed, don't you really don't say, you
- 18:40Speaker 11: don't even sound that you sound like you're in your
- 18:42Speaker 11: thirties or forties.
- 18:43Speaker 2: But we appreciate whenever you call them. Thank you for
- 18:45Speaker 2: your service. You know, my dad was a police officer,
- 18:47Speaker 2: so I know.
- 18:48Speaker 8: And thanks to your dad.
- 18:49Speaker 2: Thank you, sir. You have a great thank Steward, thank
- 18:52Speaker 2: you so much. Seven ten wo R the Voice of
- 18:56Speaker 2: New York. It's Ken Rosatto, Infra Mark on your What
- 18:59Speaker 2: is this, oh Thursday? Mark will be back tomorrow and
- 19:02Speaker 2: it's just a few By the way, we're going to
- 19:03Speaker 2: speak with New York Congressman Mike Lawler about the government shutdown.
- 19:07Speaker 1: Ken from today, Here's Ken Rosatto.
- 19:10Speaker 2: And good to be with you right now. Eleven forty
- 19:12Speaker 2: two on your Thursday morning. You know, the federal government
- 19:14Speaker 2: has been shut down now for fifteen days, all because
- 19:18Speaker 2: a handful of Democrats in the Senate refused to sign
- 19:21Speaker 2: with the near one hundred percent of Republicans who've already
- 19:23Speaker 2: voted to pass the continuing Resolution in the House, and
- 19:27Speaker 2: fifty two of the fifty three Republican senators voted for it.
- 19:30Speaker 2: Yet the left keeps trying to blame the shutdown on Republicans.
- 19:34Speaker 7: Well.
- 19:34Speaker 2: Joining us out to talk about the shutdown as New
- 19:36Speaker 2: York Congressman Mike Lawler. He represents the low Hudson Valley,
- 19:40Speaker 2: my family all lives there. Good morning to.
- 19:41Speaker 10: You, Congressman, Thanks for having me.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Good to have you on. And before we before we
- 19:47Speaker 2: even go into the shutdown, I got to ask you,
- 19:49Speaker 2: so you might face to face with Hakeem Jeffries, what
- 19:52Speaker 2: was that like because it looked like he was a
- 19:54Speaker 2: little tested. He wasn't. He wasn't having it, but neither
- 19:57Speaker 2: were you. He was.
- 19:59Speaker 10: He was, he was yelling, he was stuttering, he was stammering,
- 20:03Speaker 10: and he couldn't answer a single question. And you know,
- 20:06Speaker 10: my point in going to him was to call out
- 20:10Speaker 10: the hypocrisy of his position Number one on shutting the
- 20:14Speaker 10: government down under Joe Biden, thirteen times he and Chuck
- 20:18Speaker 10: Schumer voted to keep the government open and funded, passing
- 20:21Speaker 10: clean CRS and number two to point out that, look,
- 20:24Speaker 10: if you're saying healthcare is the issue, I'm on a
- 20:28Speaker 10: bipartisan bill to extend these subsidies by a year. Join us,
- 20:32Speaker 10: get on the bill, champion it with us. And he
- 20:35Speaker 10: wouldn't do it. And in fact, you know, he just
- 20:38Speaker 10: evolved into personal insults and you know, really had no
- 20:43Speaker 10: substance to his position because it's indefensible what he and
- 20:47Speaker 10: Chuck Schumer have done, right, I mean, Chuck Schumer government down.
- 20:51Speaker 2: Congressman, if I made when Chuck Schumer was going into
- 20:53Speaker 2: his news conference two and a half weeks ago, wasn't
- 20:55Speaker 2: he going in to say that he apparently that he
- 20:57Speaker 2: was going to sign on to this, to the continuing
- 21:00Speaker 2: Resolution but apparently, I mean, he knows he has AOC
- 21:03Speaker 2: on his backside. So suddenly he goes up there and
- 21:06Speaker 2: he says, I am not going to sign in to this.
- 21:08Speaker 2: No senator will. It was just so obvious that it's
- 21:12Speaker 2: all politics with them, and the idea that they would
- 21:15Speaker 2: try to blame this on the right with everybody on
- 21:17Speaker 2: the right, with the exception of what Rand Paul, everybody
- 21:20Speaker 2: on the right is supporting the continuing resolution. How on
- 21:23Speaker 2: earth do you blame Republicans for this?
- 21:26Speaker 10: It's absurd and in fact, John Fetterman last night said
- 21:30Speaker 10: that this is entirely the Democrat's fault. The Republicans are
- 21:34Speaker 10: not responsible for this. And so, you know, Chuck Schumer
- 21:38Speaker 10: and Hakeem Jeffries have made a political calculation, and the
- 21:42Speaker 10: political calculation is that they need to show their progressive
- 21:46Speaker 10: left base that they are standing up to Trump, that
- 21:49Speaker 10: they're fighting back against Donald Trump. That's all this is about.
- 21:53Speaker 10: It has nothing to do with healthcare, It has nothing
- 21:55Speaker 10: to do with government spending. It has to do with
- 21:58Speaker 10: them showing their base that they are big and bad
- 22:00Speaker 10: and tough, I mean so much show that Chuck Schumer
- 22:04Speaker 10: changed his glasses to look hit. It's absurd, but this
- 22:10Speaker 10: is what we're dealing with. And so you know, AOC
- 22:14Speaker 10: was asked last night on a town hall, are you
- 22:16Speaker 10: going to primary Schumer? And she wouldn't answer the question
- 22:18Speaker 10: because we know the answer is yes. And that's what
- 22:21Speaker 10: he's afraid of, that's what he's concerned about. He doesn't
- 22:24Speaker 10: want to lose his grip on power in the Democratic Conference,
- 22:28Speaker 10: and he took so much incoming in March when he
- 22:31Speaker 10: voted for a clean cr So their position is entirely absurd.
- 22:38Speaker 10: And that was my point in going and basically exposing
- 22:42Speaker 10: Jeffries for the partisan hack that he is.
- 22:44Speaker 2: Well and you did that, and the fact that the
- 22:46Speaker 2: fact that you did that, it was like you whipped
- 22:49Speaker 2: a band aid off a scab. He was so ticked
- 22:52Speaker 2: off the fact that he had no means of saying
- 22:54Speaker 2: anything productive and intelligent back, but to spit and get angry.
- 22:59Speaker 2: When I say spit, I mean spittle. I don't mean
- 23:00Speaker 2: he actually spitted you. You know that. But to do that
- 23:03Speaker 2: just uncovered everything about him. Nobody. Just remind everybody you're
- 23:07Speaker 2: listening to seven to ten wo R the Voice of
- 23:10Speaker 2: New York. This is Ken Risotto on a Thursday in
- 23:13Speaker 2: for the great Mark Simone and with one of my
- 23:15Speaker 2: favorite congress members of all time, Mike Lawler, who represents
- 23:19Speaker 2: the Lower Hudson Valley. My family, all and friends all
- 23:22Speaker 2: living in that friends and Putnam County, family in Westchester County,
- 23:25Speaker 2: and they all voted for you, by the way, just
- 23:27Speaker 2: to put it on. But so now I love the
- 23:31Speaker 2: fact that the Democrats will never seemingly understand the great
- 23:35Speaker 2: Donald Trump that when they are playing cheap checkers, this
- 23:38Speaker 2: guy is playing advanced chess and he's already figured out
- 23:43Speaker 2: how to across them. Of course, not only with the shutdown.
- 23:47Speaker 2: So he's getting the military paid, and he's putting the
- 23:51Speaker 2: Democrats in a situation where they have to say, no,
- 23:53Speaker 2: you can't pay the military. That's not allowed. So that
- 23:56Speaker 2: makes them even look more foolish. And on top of that,
- 23:59Speaker 2: now the big Gateway tunnel project, which was Chuck Schumer's
- 24:03Speaker 2: big championing project for twenty years, he said, no, now
- 24:08Speaker 2: it's all over. But bye, it's all on you, Chuck.
- 24:10Speaker 2: So do you think that that'll be permanent or do
- 24:12Speaker 2: you think that's something that could be renegotiated now when
- 24:14Speaker 2: we come back.
- 24:16Speaker 10: Well, this is the stupidity of Chuck Schumer and Hakeem
- 24:20Speaker 10: Jeffrey's position, and they're starting to hurt New Yorkers. And
- 24:25Speaker 10: you know, they should stop playing games, they should stop
- 24:28Speaker 10: putzing around, They should do their jobs. Go vote today
- 24:32Speaker 10: to open the government back up. There is no benefit
- 24:36Speaker 10: to a government shutdown. You are hurting the American people.
- 24:40Speaker 10: You're hurting those serving in the military, You're hurting those
- 24:43Speaker 10: who are reliant on programs like Wick and SNAP, and
- 24:47Speaker 10: you're hurting New Yorkers. And moreover, they're costing US about
- 24:51Speaker 10: fifteen billion dollars a day in GDP because of the
- 24:56Speaker 10: stupidity of all of this. You know, at a time
- 24:58Speaker 10: when Donald Trump is is securing Middle East peace and
- 25:02Speaker 10: getting a ceasefire and getting the hostages released, these idiots
- 25:05Speaker 10: are holding the American people hostage for nothing, for no
- 25:09Speaker 10: gain or reason other than their own political self interest
- 25:14Speaker 10: and trying to appease a radical left base.
- 25:17Speaker 2: And for what it's worth. And for those who don't understand,
- 25:20Speaker 2: we're talking about passing a continuing resolution, which means the
- 25:24Speaker 2: existing spending plan for which the Democrats voted in lockstep
- 25:28Speaker 2: a year ago, they would continue it for another few
- 25:32Speaker 2: weeks while you could all get together and negotiate a
- 25:34Speaker 2: brand new spending plan for next year. Do I have
- 25:36Speaker 2: that right, Congressman?
- 25:38Speaker 10: You got it spot on.
- 25:39Speaker 2: So that's all it is. How is it that the
- 25:41Speaker 2: Democrats when Biden was president, they were all for this,
- 25:45Speaker 2: and now the Trump, the Orange man bad is president. Oh,
- 25:48Speaker 2: we can't support this. It is such pure hypocrisy, and
- 25:52Speaker 2: the fact that in this day and age, this era
- 25:54Speaker 2: of the Internet, that CHUCKI, Chuck Schumer can think that
- 25:57Speaker 2: people are not going to look it up and see
- 25:59Speaker 2: what's really going on is laughable. I think this is
- 26:02Speaker 2: going to backfire on them big ten.
- 26:04Speaker 10: And no question. You know, Chuck Schumer last week was
- 26:07Speaker 10: quoted as saying.
- 26:08Speaker 7: Every day gets better for us.
- 26:10Speaker 1: Who's us?
- 26:11Speaker 10: US is the Democratic Party. They don't care about the
- 26:14Speaker 10: American people. They don't care about the impact on the
- 26:16Speaker 10: American people. This is about protecting their own hide within
- 26:21Speaker 10: the base of their party and trying to stave off
- 26:24Speaker 10: any primaries or plays on leadership. That's all this that's
- 26:29Speaker 10: all this is about. And so you look at it
- 26:31Speaker 10: and you know, to me, this isn't about polls. It's
- 26:34Speaker 10: not about who's winning or losing. The only people being
- 26:38Speaker 10: hurt here are the American people. And it is it
- 26:41Speaker 10: is shameful, it is wrong. I pushed back against it
- 26:44Speaker 10: when Republicans wanted to do it under Joe Biden because
- 26:47Speaker 10: of his open border policies. While I agreed with them
- 26:50Speaker 10: on the merits of Biden's policies being disastrous, that's not
- 26:55Speaker 10: the way to fix it. You don't shut the government
- 26:57Speaker 10: down as a means of trying to fix it. And
- 27:01Speaker 10: Democrats all said, you can't do that. You can't do that.
- 27:04Speaker 10: You can't try to exert policy changes at the you know,
- 27:08Speaker 10: the barrel of a gun. And yet that's precisely what
- 27:11Speaker 10: they are doing right now.
- 27:12Speaker 2: Congressman, if you were a betting man, how long would
- 27:14Speaker 2: you say this might last?
- 27:16Speaker 10: I think it's going to go on for quite a while.
- 27:19Speaker 10: There seems to be no willingness on their part. I mean,
- 27:23Speaker 10: you had a Democratic staffer say we'll keep it shut
- 27:26Speaker 10: down until a plane falls out of the sky. I mean, forbid,
- 27:29Speaker 10: that's that's how foolish these people are. Just it's totally unnecessary.
- 27:34Speaker 10: It needs to stop. Unfortunately, you know, I think we're
- 27:38Speaker 10: in this for quite a while.
- 27:39Speaker 2: Well, let's hope that maybe more calm minds and hearts
- 27:44Speaker 2: will prevail and we get this taken care of sooner
- 27:47Speaker 2: rather than later. It is so good to have you on.
- 27:49Speaker 2: He represents New York's seventeenth congressional district, including the Lower
- 27:53Speaker 2: Hudson Valley. Congressman Mike Lawler, thank you so much for
- 27:55Speaker 2: fighting the good fight and coming on the Marx Simone
- 27:57Speaker 2: Show today.
- 27:59Speaker 10: I appreciate thanks so much you.
- 28:01Speaker 2: Bet beautiful sunny day to day. By the way, Hi's
- 28:03Speaker 2: in the upper fifties. This is Ken Rosotto in for
- 28:06Speaker 2: Mark on your Thursday. We will take more of your
- 28:08Speaker 2: calls next, so please dial up one eight hundred three
- 28:11Speaker 2: two one zero seven ten one eight hundred three two
- 28:15Speaker 2: one zero seven ten for seven ten WR.
- 28:19Speaker 1: Filling in for Mark. Here again is Ken Rosatto.
- 28:23Speaker 2: Then we'll take your calls right now if you want
- 28:24Speaker 2: to call him. We just have a couple of minutes left.
- 28:26Speaker 2: Eight hundred three two one zero seven ten eight hundred
- 28:29Speaker 2: three to two one zero seven ten. Good to being
- 28:32Speaker 2: from Mark on your Thursday. He will be back tomorrow.
- 28:34Speaker 2: By the way, if you're following all the news yesterday,
- 28:37Speaker 2: you know we talked about Tiss James briefly at the
- 28:40Speaker 2: top of the hour and what's going on. Well, apparently
- 28:42Speaker 2: her grand niece has posted on social media that the
- 28:46Speaker 2: information published about her saying that she is an absconder
- 28:50Speaker 2: from North Carolina with a rap sheet. The grandee says
- 28:54Speaker 2: that is false, but then she says the information is old. Well,
- 28:58Speaker 2: which is it? Grand niece is it false or is
- 29:01Speaker 2: it old? It can't be both. Either it really happened
- 29:05Speaker 2: years ago or it didn't happen. But she says it's
- 29:09Speaker 2: both false and old. So we'll see. In the meantime,
- 29:11Speaker 2: Attorney General Tis James remains indicted on charges of bank
- 29:15Speaker 2: fraud and making false statements to a financial institution for
- 29:19Speaker 2: allegedly misrepresenting her Virginia house where that grand niece lives,
- 29:24Speaker 2: as her primary residence so she could get a preferable
- 29:27Speaker 2: mortgage rate. You save like between and a half a
- 29:29Speaker 2: point in a point, which could be a lot of
- 29:31Speaker 2: money over a thirty year period. Look, if in fact
- 29:34Speaker 2: she is convicted of this, that is a big deal.
- 29:37Speaker 2: Anyone who says it's just sicking the Justice Department on
- 29:41Speaker 2: her is full of crap. They just don't get it,
- 29:43Speaker 2: or they're not honest with themselves. I've bought and sold
- 29:46Speaker 2: a whole bunch of houses. I'm sure you have two
- 29:47Speaker 2: over the years, and one of the first questions you're
- 29:49Speaker 2: asked when you apply for a mortgage is if this
- 29:52Speaker 2: will be your primary residence or not. And if you
- 29:55Speaker 2: lie and they find out, you're in big trouble, that's
- 29:58Speaker 2: mortgage fraud. As simple as that. Now you call it
- 30:01Speaker 2: retribution or simply investigators doing their job and finding out
- 30:05Speaker 2: that potential fraud was committed, whatever it is. If she
- 30:09Speaker 2: signed off that this was going to be her primary
- 30:11Speaker 2: residence and it couldn't be because remember she lives in
- 30:15Speaker 2: New York in order to be the Attorney General, then
- 30:17Speaker 2: Ms James may be in big trouble. But you are
- 30:19Speaker 2: innocent until proven guilty. So we'll see what happens. And
- 30:22Speaker 2: that wraps UPO this Thursday show. Don't miss the Big
- 30:25Speaker 2: Debate tonight on Channel four from seven to nine The
- 30:27Speaker 2: Big Mayor Debate and is going to be streaming online.
