- 1:02I got the name OJ Obaii is the guy that I'm reading that the
- 1:06Knicks are very interested in. Also, there's a couple of guys
- 1:09that the Knicks have their names have been.
- 1:12How about this? If the Knicks strike out on on a
- 1:15guy like Giannis, how about Sabonis?
- 1:18Sabonis is a guy that could do so many different things
- 1:22offensively and defensively for the Knicks.
- 1:25He's a rebounder, he's a he. He's a double double machine.
- 1:28He's not the same player he was 2-3 years ago, but could still
- 1:31play an elite level. I and you put him your trade
- 1:35Mitch Robinson, if you keep Karl Anthony Towns and you let him be
- 1:38the guy that's going to be The Dirty guy off the boards.
- 1:41You know that the defensive, offensive prowess guy.
- 1:43And by the way, I he's also a guy that can hit those 1718 foot
- 1:47jumpers a bonus. I think that would make a lot of
- 1:50sense if they strike out on Giannis because what I'm hearing
- 1:53as I was one of the very few people that said that the
- 1:56Timberwolves are going to be one of the favorites to landing
- 1:59Giannis. Well, the story is over the last
- 2:0224 hours that a lot of people believe that now the
- 2:06Timberwolves are the favorites to Lynn Giannis.
- 2:08So very, very interesting. And and again, the Giannis
- 2:12sweepstakes is is going to take a lot.
- 2:15It might be a third team involved draft stock to get
- 2:19this, this deal done because what I'm hearing is Milwaukee
- 2:22wants at least four first round draft picks and three players
- 2:27that can start on their roster today.
- 2:29So I, I, I know, I know the Knicks don't have that because
- 2:33they have Mikkel Bridges and they gave Mikkel, they gave the
- 2:36next 5 first round draft picks to get Mikkel Bridges.
- 2:38That Knicks do have their draft pick every other year.
- 2:41They still have Washington's pick too.
- 2:43We'll see how that works. Washington right now is one of
- 2:46the two worst teams in the NBA. So they're fighting for that,
- 2:50that last, that last place so they can win the lottery balls
- 2:54and get one of those top three picks because boy, oh boy, this
- 2:57is one of those, one of those drafts you want to be in the top
- 2:59three. Actually anything in the top
- 3:02ten, you're going to get yourself a good player, a player
- 3:04that could start on your roster. So it's very, very interesting.
- 3:07And, and again, I was listening to Stephen A Smith's take today,
- 3:11which was very, very interesting.
- 3:13Does he, after the Knicks won yesterday.
- 3:15And by the way, they played horrible in the first half of
- 3:18that game against the Lakers. The Lakers, I know we're only up
- 3:21by like, if I'm not mistaken, 5 points, but they didn't play
- 3:24good basketball in the second-half.
- 3:25They started playing good defense.
- 3:27And and by the way, in the last six games, the Knicks have kept
- 3:31teams to 91 points or less, which has been the best in the
- 3:35NBA in the last six games since Jalen Bronson called for that
- 3:39team meeting. So I could this roster win a
- 3:42championship? Yes.
- 3:45Are you going to trust that this roster is going to play at a top
- 3:47level like they have in the last six games?
- 3:49And they haven't really played elite teams.
- 3:51The Lakers are probably the best team they've beaten in the last
- 3:54six games. The Lakers are the six seed
- 3:56right now in the Western Conference, practically the same
- 3:59record as the New York Knicks. The Knicks are going into the
- 4:02game there were 30 and 18. Now they're 31 and 18, tied with
- 4:06the Celtics. The the Lakers are 29 and 18 and
- 4:10they were the 60. The Western Conference is so
- 4:12much better than Easter conference.
- 4:13Very top heavy the Western Conference.
- 4:16But even the bottom half of the Western Conference is better
- 4:18than the bottom half of the East.
- 4:19The East is so very bad on the bottom half.
- 4:22There might be four teams that can win an NBA championship in
- 4:25the Easter Conference. So it's interesting, if you're a
- 4:28Knick fan, you're sitting here and you're wondering how the
- 4:31Knicks are going to figure out how they can make a trade at the
- 4:35trade deadline. And here's another thing, if
- 4:37you're, if you're a Knick fan and you're wondering where they
- 4:41can go in the trade market, you can go out after those second
- 4:46tier players. Do you bring in a do you maybe
- 4:49make a move and bring in John Moran?
- 4:50Could you could you get John Moran for not too much that you
- 4:53have to give up because the Knicks have quality bench
- 4:56players? Do you want to ruin this this
- 4:59team, the way they're playing and and their bench players are?
- 5:02Do you go after John Moran and take a shot at him and and maybe
- 5:05maybe strike gold because speedy if you look at this team and and
- 5:09and the Knicks, if they have a chance to win a championship,
- 5:12it's this year because the Indiana Pacers are going to be
- 5:16better next year and Indiana they're going to have a top ten
- 5:19pick this year and they're getting their superstar back in
- 5:22heart. Who's who's point guard
- 5:25Halberton. I can't I'm trying to think, but
- 5:28that's why I asked you Hal Burton, who tours Achilles in
- 5:32the playoffs last year in the NBA Finals and in game seven.
- 5:36I, I, I think Indiana Pacers are there are borderline playoff
- 5:40team. I wouldn't be surprised if they
- 5:42get a nice pick and they and they draft right.
- 5:45They're good organization. They know how to draft.
- 5:47Look at the players they have practically every single one of
- 5:50their players are draft picks. So and Hal Burton wasn't a draft
- 5:54pick. They got him from Sacramento and
- 5:56they they struck gold with Halperton.
- 5:58I, I, I still think Indiana's is a far fetched team to make the
- 6:02playoffs. So it's interesting.
- 6:05It's very, very interesting. We're still waiting for Quinton
- 6:07Coleman. Having some tech issues right
- 6:09now trying to get his, He's rebooting his computer.
- 6:11I'm trying to see if he's he's coming in or not.
- 6:13But I believe you wanted to talk about something else that wasn't
- 6:16on our agenda. Today, are we going to get into
- 6:18that? Might as well while we wait.
- 6:20All right, So I wanted to get into this and I I don't have
- 6:24somebody could pull up what Draymond Green just said at the
- 6:27game after the. Game following the loss of the
- 6:29Pistons, Green got his 10th technical.
- 6:32He told them, this is your chance to stop talking to me.
- 6:34And then he said, I find it very ironic that I got a technical
- 6:37foul for telling a Caucasian referee not to put his hand in
- 6:41my face as a black man in America, don't put your hand in
- 6:44my face. All right, so there's a double.
- 6:46I see Quentin laughing so I want to give this take.
- 6:49And I used to like Draymond Green as a player.
- 6:54I really used to think that he was the best two way player in
- 6:57the NBA. The guy could defend any
- 7:00position. He was a big, he was a 5-6 foot
- 7:0386 foot 9 playing Center for the Golden State Warriors at a top
- 7:08level. You're talking about the best
- 7:10team of this era. And he was one of the important
- 7:13pieces. Everybody says, oh, the the the
- 7:16Golden State Warriors could win without him.
- 7:17That's not true. Without him, they didn't have
- 7:21that defensive side. They didn't have that anchor.
- 7:24Now, I I'm not saying Klay Thompson wasn't a great defender
- 7:26at his position. He was one of the best in a
- 7:28league when he was healthy at that position.
- 7:31But Draymond Green was the anchor of that defense.
- 7:33I love Draymond Green. I loved his personality.
- 7:35I loved his his harshness on and off the court.
- 7:38I loved how he, you know, he was the aggressive, you know,
- 7:42stirrer. He loved to stir up crap on the
- 7:45on the basketball court. If it wasn't with Shaquille
- 7:47O'Neal over the years, we've seen him do it or LeBron James
- 7:51or Adams. This guy would do anything.
- 7:53You'd step on your balls, he would kick you in the balls, he
- 7:56would grab you, he would punch you, he would elbow you.
- 7:59This man would do anything on a basketball court.
- 8:02And you liked it. I loved his aggressive play
- 8:04because I love Dennis Rodman. He was my favorite player, one
- 8:07of my favorite players growing up as a basketball fan.
- 8:10But here's the thing, over the last couple of years, this man
- 8:14has been on podcasts. He has his own podcast and he
- 8:19he's outlandishly stupid. He goes out there, he says
- 8:22stupid things and he he obviously has a great following
- 8:26and I'm not saying that this guy isn't a likable person and you
- 8:29wouldn't you wouldn't go and read some of the stuff that he
- 8:32said on and off the court. But this is the same guy that
- 8:35went on Snapchat and took a picture of his private area and
- 8:38posted it same guy and then take it off and then claims it wasn't
- 8:43him. It's a big problem when you
- 8:47think about it, with the personality that he is.
- 8:50And then over the last couple of years, I listened to his
- 8:53podcast. He likes to throw people under
- 8:56the bus. He likes to throw teammates
- 8:57under the bus. There's a reason why Jordan
- 9:00Poole is no longer on that roster was because of him.
- 9:03Everybody likes to point their finger at Klay Thompson.
- 9:05And by the way, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green never liked
- 9:08each other. They hated each other.
- 9:11And that's why Klay Thompson, when he became a free agent the
- 9:14second time around, he didn't want to be on this team anymore.
- 9:17It was it was done. Now I, I, I know Fish.
- 9:20I, I know what you're saying. I have to finish this and I'm, I
- 9:23want to finish what I have to say here.
- 9:27Draymond Green 48 hours ago, 48 hours ago, said this about a
- 9:34referee. I don't care if he's purple.
- 9:38I don't care if he's Green. He did not put his hand in
- 9:43Draymond Green's face. If anybody seen the video, his
- 9:46hand was under his waist. It wasn't even over the
- 9:50shoulder. Think about that.
- 9:54And then he says this Caucasian referee putting his hand in my
- 9:59face and and then he talks about his race.
- 10:03Draymond, we know what what you are, OK?
- 10:05We we don't have to say that. I respect you no matter what you
- 10:08are. You could be Chinese, You could
- 10:10be purple. You could be Jewish.
- 10:12I'm Jewish. I don't care what your race is,
- 10:16but for you to bring it up and that you to put it out there, it
- 10:20would piss anybody off. It would piss an African
- 10:23American off for you to bring up your race.
- 10:26This is the NBA, OK? If you in the NFL.
- 10:29Quinton. Quinton knows.
- 10:30Quinton played in football. You have Caucasians, you have
- 10:34white guys on your team, you have Asian guys on your team,
- 10:37you have Hawaiian guys on your team, you have Jewish guys on
- 10:39your team. We all know that.
- 10:43Why do you have to mention it? What is the point of mentioning
- 10:46it? Because you want to bring out
- 10:48your political ways. You want to bring out your
- 10:50personality, for people to hate you more so you can sell more
- 10:53podcast sponsorships. It's pathetic and the NBA should
- 10:58suspend this guy. He should be suspended.
- 11:02As a matter of fact, they should have him on national television
- 11:06apologize to the referee that did not put his hand in his
- 11:09face. He called the technical foul
- 11:11because Draymond Green, when he's on the basketball court,
- 11:15and This is why he gets more technical fouls than any player
- 11:18besides one, which we know who we're talking.
- 11:20Brooks is the only one that gets more technical fouls than him
- 11:24every single year. And why?
- 11:26Because Draymond Green doesn't know how to shut his mouth.
- 11:29You're a professional basketball player.
- 11:30You're making millions and millions of dollars.
- 11:33And nobody wants to hear what your thoughts are about your
- 11:36race or anybody else's race. All I want to know is if you
- 11:40could play basketball again. And then he comes out after the
- 11:43fact when the media asked him after that whole take and said,
- 11:46well, what do you think he said? Or what do you think he was
- 11:48doing? Or what do you what do you want
- 11:50him to say? And then he says, well, one of
- 11:52the media guys asked him is like, well, there's rumors that
- 11:55you're going to be traded. I don't care about being traded.
- 11:57Next question. He had nothing, nothing to say
- 11:59about the trade, but everything to say about what the referee
- 12:02was trying to do, control the game.
- 12:05Because Draymond Green, when he's on the court and he's not
- 12:07getting a call right or he's not getting the call on his side,
- 12:11he's bitching and moaning about it.
- 12:14It's disrespectful for the game. And this is the problem with the
- 12:16NBA. This is the problem because you
- 12:23have these guys, Adam Silver allows these NBA players to run
- 12:27the league. LeBron James has run the league.
- 12:30Yeah, had Kyrie Irving run the league, anti-Semitic views this
- 12:34guy that the NBA sat down with this guy, sat down with this guy
- 12:39and had a conversation and made Kyrie Irving apologize to the
- 12:43Brooklyn Net fans, who by the way, are all Jewish people.
- 12:49The NBA, the the Nets are playing in Brooklyn.
- 12:52There are more of a Jewish following.
- 12:54All their ticket holders are Jewish and he apologize,
- 12:58apologize to the net, the net fans.
- 13:00Then he gets traded and then when he goes and he he gets his
- 13:03jersey and he's he gets his jersey from Mark Cuban.
- 13:06And before he could say anything, he says, oh, by the
- 13:09way, I take back what I said, my apologies to, you know, to my
- 13:13anti-Semitic views. That was my opinion.
- 13:16And I have a right. I'm American.
- 13:17I have a right of my own opinion.
- 13:21And the NBA didn't suspend him for that.
- 13:25And that's the problem with the NBA.
- 13:26That's why a lot of people don't watch the NBA like they used to,
- 13:30because there's no like Michael Jordan's in the league anymore.
- 13:34Guys that don't want to hear about politic, political views
- 13:38or, or, or race or any of that stuff.
- 13:42All he cared about is basketball.
- 13:44Straight up basketball. That's why Michael Jordan is the
- 13:48greatest basketball player of all time, because he was a
- 13:50killer. He'd get on the basketball court
- 13:52and he'd go out there and show you why he's the greatest
- 13:55basketball player in the league. Nobody.
- 13:56Have you ever heard Michael Jordan's speedy?
- 13:59Ever hear Michael Jordan talk about his political views ever?
- 14:02Do you ever hear about Michael Jordan talking about his
- 14:05political views now that he's not in the NBA after 20 years
- 14:08being retired? Have you or have you not?
- 14:12But LeBron James does, Kawhi Leonard does, Kevin Durant does,
- 14:18all of them do, because they use the platform to, to instead of
- 14:23using their own platform, they have their own social medias,
- 14:26their own Twitters, their own Instagrams.
- 14:27But during the game and after the game, when they're talking
- 14:30to the media, they know that everybody is watching people.
- 14:33Kids, young kids are looking up to them.
- 14:37And they heard, you hear a guy like Draymond Green come out
- 14:40and, and, and talk about race when probably 75% of the people
- 14:47that are buying tickets are Caucasian white.
- 14:52I mean, how does that make Golden State feel when they're
- 14:55trying to sell tickets to corporations?
- 15:00I got it, Fish stop. I'm tired of it.
- 15:07The NBA needs to control what's going on with the players.
- 15:13If the players are going to go out there and use their platform
- 15:15to sell their own product or sell whatever they think in
- 15:18their political views, the NBA needs to suspend these guys.
- 15:22Period. All right, ladies and gentlemen,

- 16:12He's had some problems with his Internet.
- 16:15We are now. We are now talking to former New
- 16:18York Jets defensive end our friend Quentin.
- 16:21Go do it. What's up?
- 16:23Yeah. I'm so happy to be back with the
- 16:25crew. What's up?
- 16:28That's right. No Jabba, because he's been in
- 16:30New York for the last couple of days.
- 16:33So Jabba, Jabba came out, he was working for, you know, resigning
- 16:36autographs at the what do they call it, the pinstripe ball or
- 16:39whatever they call it so that all the, all the Yankees go to,
- 16:43you know, if they have like a, it's a three day thing and each
- 16:46day they have specific Yankees that come down and sign
- 16:49autographs. Jabba went, he did it on
- 16:51Saturday, on Friday he was working with Barstool.
- 16:54They were doing some kind of recording thing.
- 16:56So Jabba flew out and I actually, me and Jabba met up at
- 17:00American Whiskey was the first time we actually met.
- 17:02We've been digital pen pals for the last year and a half, so it
- 17:07was the first time we met. And then Jabba trying to shoot,
- 17:09shoot the, you know, the crap and trying to make fun of my
- 17:12size. And I'm like, dude, you're 6.
- 17:15You're 63. I'm 5/10 and 1/4.
- 17:17And he's, and he started making fun.
- 17:19I was like, dude, you're only four inches bigger than me.
- 17:21You're not that much bigger than me.
- 17:22Like you quit, quit. Cute.
- 17:25Yeah, yeah. He forgot about the quarter.
- 17:27Quit. He forgot about the quarter.
- 17:30I mean seriously think about it. I, I'm not, I'm not a big
- 17:34talker. I'm, I'm, I'm muscular, I'm a
- 17:36big guy. I'm two.
- 17:37I, I, I used to be 230. I lost about 30 lbs over the
- 17:40last, the last, I would say the last 10 months I've been taking
- 17:44care of myself. Stop eating sugar drinks.
- 17:46I was pre diabetic as everybody is when you get to this age 5.8.
- 17:50If you're in America, you. Predat Yeah.
- 17:52I mean, because we like our food, man.
- 17:54I like my ice cream at, you know, 11:00 at night, man.
- 17:56I mean, I got my. By the way, what is your
- 17:59favorite ice cream? I am a butter pecan guy.
- 18:03Butter pecan. That's my grandfather's favorite
- 18:05so. I'm a mint chocolate chip guy,
- 18:07so I like mints. So that's my thing.
- 18:10I like it. And listen, everybody said, you
- 18:14know, my girlfriend says it's like a green, it looks like
- 18:17green chip. That's what she says when she
- 18:19looks at it with like things hanging out of it.
- 18:21I it doesn't taste like that. It's a nice tasty, sweet taste.
- 18:26Anyways, I had to ask you that question, but it does not taste
- 18:30like toothpaste. Fish it definitely.
- 18:32Doesn't that's a good capacity, No.
- 18:35It doesn't because it depends on what you get now a friendlies it
- 18:38has a little bit of a different taste.
- 18:40Turkey Hills different the Bunny 1 is.
- 18:43Depends on the brand. Yeah, I haven't had a lot of
- 18:45brands so, but So what brand do you suggest that doesn't taste
- 18:48like toothpaste? You're, you're probably, you
- 18:51know, my, my friends, one of my friends love coffee ice cream
- 18:54and I don't like coffee, so I couldn't even.
- 18:56I like coffee. I don't know about coffee.
- 18:58Oh, it's terrible, man. And even the smell of it, it
- 19:00gets me sick to my stomach. I, I was at the, I was at Carvel
- 19:04the other day and I see this, these two older people, they're
- 19:07going up there and, and, and they're asked for hard ice cream
- 19:09and they're looking at it like, give me that coffee chocolate
- 19:12chip. I was like coffee, chocolate
- 19:13chip. I almost threw up.
- 19:16And then then the guy that owns the place, because he always
- 19:19hooks me up on Wednesday. Mike, we love you over here.
- 19:21He hooks me up with, you know, a lot of ice cream.
- 19:24I I, I make a joke. I'm like, who buys chocolate
- 19:28chip coffee? I mean, it's just a lot of
- 19:30people. It's a very popular, you know,
- 19:32taste. It's like, yeah, it looks like,
- 19:34it looks like crap. In a ice coffee is popular, so I
- 19:37believe it. It's disgusting man.
- 19:39I don't understand that part. Like ice coffee just doesn't
- 19:42make sense. I like how you say it.
- 19:43Ice, coffee, coffee. You know, you don't use the
- 19:47coffee like coffee, coffee. My girlfriend, she's got that
- 19:50Brooklyn accent. Coffee.
- 19:55Believe that? Yeah.
- 19:56Coffee. Yeah, coffee.
- 19:58Coffee. That's the the Carolina way of
- 20:00speaking. Yeah, yeah.
- 20:03Give me a coffee if you Yeah, I'm at Starbucks.
- 20:06Coming out now. You know when we say Starbucks,
- 20:09you call it Starbucks. Box.
- 20:13Like, like a box. Starbucks.
- 20:15Yeah, Starbucks. Let's go to Starbucks.
- 20:17Anyways, we are talking to former New York Chats defensive
- 20:20end, our friend Quinton Coupost. Now, Quinton, we had a bet.
- 20:25We had a bet last time you were on the show about the Gremlin.
- 20:30OK, we had a bet. There was some conditions too
- 20:35though. But go ahead, I'm going to let
- 20:37you live. Go ahead.
- 20:38Now he did play 10 games, my friend, he did anything.
- 20:41He played 10 games so. But what was the conditions?
- 20:45I don't remember what the conditions were.
- 20:46What were the conditions? Well, the main bet was he
- 20:49wouldn't get an. Interception.
- 20:50I have to find the conditions. I don't remember the conditions.
- 20:52What were the conditions? The conditions if he just played
- 20:55DB, it wasn't if he I told you he was going to fail at doing
- 20:58this 2 two way thing in the NFL. Yeah, he did.
- 21:02No, I remember that. But we knew he wasn't going to
- 21:03play just DB. We knew that.
- 21:05Was my condition, like if, if we we expected him to play both,
- 21:09but we didn't. I mean, that was before the
- 21:11season, so we didn't know. Yeah, I was hoping that they
- 21:14would be, you know, sensible and say, hey, you're going to be
- 21:19ADB. But they wanted to try the whole
- 21:21two way player and it just was it was a crash out.
- 21:24I mean, every former player was saying the same as that thing
- 21:28like you. Who do you think this this isn't
- 21:30Colorado? Like you're not.
- 21:32It's not going to happen. You know, we had four year
- 21:35Luiken and and I know you know who he is.
- 21:37He's one of the best linebackers in the NFL.
- 21:39He came on the show last week and I brought up Travis the
- 21:42Gremlin Hunter and he looked at me.
- 21:44He was like, well, I've never heard that.
- 21:45I said go look at. It's all over social media now.
- 21:47I gave him a nickname now people are using on their stories.
- 21:50The Gremlin. The gremlin and and by the way,
- 21:53we we showed him the photo, he kind of giggled at it.
- 21:56He says, he says you don't know him yet.
- 21:59You have to understand him as a person before you can judge him.
- 22:02And I said, well, when you go out there when I was at the
- 22:04Heisman Trophy dinner and you bring up the New York Jets and
- 22:07say, hey, you don't want, you don't want to play for The Jets.
- 22:10The Jets are a terrible organization.
- 22:12Well, that's great for you to say.
- 22:13You're also playing for an organization that has failed
- 22:15every single year too. When was the Jacksonville
- 22:18Jaguars ever a winning organization?
- 22:20They've never even won a Super Bowl.
- 22:21So for him to come out and say, well, The Jets are terrible
- 22:24organization, yeah, they're terrible, just as bad as the
- 22:26Jackson Jaguars. So I, I and by the way,
- 22:30Jacksonville didn't start playing good football until he
- 22:33was done for the season. That was when they started
- 22:37picking up the game and, and started playing really good
- 22:39football. And I, I have to say something.
- 22:41Trevor Lawrence looked like a competent quarterback.
- 22:43So. But that's just my opinion.
- 22:45So you were right about it. But I, I want to get into The
- 22:46Jets because you're a former Jet.
- 22:50I'm sure you have your own opinion.
- 22:51I've checked out some of your post over the last couple of
- 22:54weeks, So and I, me and you are friends and I as a friend, I
- 22:58want to get in to what you think is going on with the New York
- 23:01Jets. Aaron Glenn was interviewing
- 23:05Wink Martindale. He had him in once and he told
- 23:07him that he's going to run the defense.
- 23:09Then he told Wink Martindale on his own penny to fly back.
- 23:13He wanted to interview him for a second time.
- 23:15He told Wink that he's calling the plays.
- 23:18He would be the number two guy. You know, you know, mixing it
- 23:21around now, when you hear something you say, you when you
- 23:24hear a coach like that come out. Now, we all know the Aaron
- 23:26Rodgers story before the season started.
- 23:29He did the same thing to Aaron Rodgers.
- 23:31He told Aaron Rodgers to come fly over here because he wanted
- 23:35to talk to him and then told him once he walked through the door,
- 23:37you're no longer going to be a part of this organization.
- 23:40We're going we're going with another roster spot.
- 23:42We're going with Justin Fields or whatever.
- 23:44We're going with a new quarterback.
- 23:45When you hear that when you when you're interviewing for a
- 23:49coaching job or you're you're a quarterback looking to come back
- 23:53and you hear that from your coach, are you going to trust
- 23:55that this coach is going to put you in the right position to
- 23:57succeed? And do you trust this coach
- 23:59moving forward with your organization, yes or no?
- 24:02No, not for me. I mean, because I mean, well,
- 24:05we're hearing the same things when it comes to Aunt Glenn,
- 24:08when it comes to his attitude, when it comes to his
- 24:10personality, his character. And like, I don't know him well
- 24:14enough to like very well judge him on that.
- 24:16Like I've had interactions with him, always been a a very overly
- 24:20comforted horror type guy. I could take that hit or miss,
- 24:24You know, I, I got to know you to kind of like really give you
- 24:27that before judgement in regards to who I believe you to be.
- 24:31But I mean you just gave 2 examples of the same type
- 24:34character issue that everybody's been complaining about.
- 24:37You know, there was Jets fans that was like he was too
- 24:40arrogant, you know, coming in, you know, they had issues with
- 24:44him coming in about his arrogance and things of that
- 24:46nature. So to me I think that is a red
- 24:50flag. That is a huge red flags and the
- 24:52fact that you are playing with people's emotions and emotions
- 24:58during this process says more about you than it does about,
- 25:02you know, them trying to get a job.
- 25:04Q When you look at all the coaches that turned down, even
- 25:09interviewing with The Jets, Jon Gruden was a guy that The Jets
- 25:12really liked. Jon Gruden has not coached in
- 25:15the NFL since that scandal of the text messages or emails that
- 25:20were going on. He sued the NFL.
- 25:22He won the obviously against the NFL and nobody's hired him as
- 25:27the offensive coordinator or as a coach.
- 25:29Finally, the The Jets wanted to interview him.
- 25:31He probably would have won The Jets over and Aaron Glenn over
- 25:34as their offensive coordinator. He told The Jets to go bug off.
- 25:38He had no interest in interviewing for that offensive
- 25:40coordinator job. Do you believe the reason why he
- 25:44decided not to even sit down and have a conversation with the New
- 25:47York Jets is because of Aaron Glenn?
- 25:49For sure what you know, based out we are we are brotherhood,
- 25:53we're fraternity players talk to coaches, coaches talk to
- 25:56players. The gas are kind of like the
- 25:58middle people that kind of facilitate messages and, you
- 26:03know, tell the players that they're hearing theirs, tell the
- 26:05coaches that they're seeing this SYZ.
- 26:07So when you hear that and you hearing all these different
- 26:11things, Jon Gruden is a is a man's man, He's a man's coach.
- 26:14He's not he's not he's a Afro type coach.
- 26:16He's not going to allow and Glenn to kind of talk down on
- 26:20him in a sense even if he got the head coach position.
- 26:23And I think that's the issue not only just with Aaron Glenn.
- 26:26I just think that's the issue with The Jets organization
- 26:29overall, which is the reason why you can.
- 26:31We've had so many great talents and so many semi orchestrated,
- 26:37well put together teams, but we can't never get across the edge.
- 26:41We can't never get over that hump and it's because we don't
- 26:43got no culture. I, I want to mention like kind
- 26:46of the process that we've seen The Jets kind of reinventing the
- 26:49wheel at times. I think since you, since they
- 26:51let you go, you went to Miami. I think since then we've seen a
- 26:54lot of it where, oh, Adam Gase go, went to hire Joe Douglas
- 26:57after they fired Mike Mccagan after the draft.
- 26:59And then you look at obviously 7 coaches getting fired out of
- 27:03nowhere this offseason. Like you think their Jets are
- 27:05trying to like, they're trying to, like, reinvent the wheel too
- 27:08much with a lot of their decisions.
- 27:10They don't have a culture, so it's unstable and all their
- 27:14ways. Like basically at the end of the
- 27:16day, like they, it's like you make irrational decisions.
- 27:19You're not, you're not putting the right people in the right
- 27:22place. It's like keep hiring your
- 27:24friends and thinking that they're going to do a good job
- 27:26because they're your friends instead of hiring the right
- 27:28people that understand personnel that understand football from an
- 27:32S as a nose position, you know, and understand how to
- 27:35orchestrate and create a culture.
- 27:38It is, it's not a it's not rocket science, but because you
- 27:43just keep hiring or put like you just keep, you know, filling
- 27:49positions is what I would call it, you know what I'm saying?
- 27:51Like you just put people in position.
- 27:52They're getting the titles and things that nature.
- 27:54But there's no a real game plan. There's no agenda.
- 27:57That resume may say, Oh yeah, XYZ, he's did this, he's been
- 28:01there, he's coached here, whatnot.
- 28:03But you're not putting the right people in the right place.
- 28:06And I don't think Aaron Glenn is a head coach.
- 28:07I just think he's a good defensive coordinator.
- 28:09We are talking. That was a bad hit anyway.
- 28:12We are talking to former New York Jets defensive and our
- 28:14Frank Quinn couples. You know, Quentin, the New York
- 28:18Jets over the years have never bought a veteran coach.
- 28:21Adam Gates is probably the only veteran coach they've hired.
- 28:24And he was only a veteran because Miami fired him.
- 28:27And he he wasn't there with Miami for very long.
- 28:29I think he was there for three or four years.
- 28:31I it wasn't an accomplished coach.
- 28:34Why do you think the New York Jets over the years have not
- 28:38brought in a veteran coach, an accomplished coach that have won
- 28:42somewhere or some other place or in a place where you know he was
- 28:47positioned to succeed when he went to The Jets?
- 28:51Well, I think it's the same thing.
- 28:52It goes like, so veteran coaches want to come in and establish
- 28:56like the culture that they're going to run the the the program
- 28:59that they're going to run. And I don't think The Jets allow
- 29:02that to happen. And I think they follow the
- 29:04trend of it's a young man's league.
- 29:07And so it's it's something that is they they love potential and
- 29:10they love the build up. They don't actually want to
- 29:14establish the culture. Like so for instance, if you
- 29:16look at the Steelers, right, like and you look at Mike Tomlin
- 29:20having a 20 year career where it with no losing seasons, there
- 29:25was a lot of bad teams within that, but there was a culture
- 29:28there that kept everything intact.
- 29:31It's like Michael Jordan that she was talking about earlier.
- 29:33It's like running the triangle offense.
- 29:35It's like you can give it, you know, Michael Jordan, his praise
- 29:38and his flowers. But when you run it, when you
- 29:41actually understand basketball, are you looking at how that
- 29:43triangle offense is developing and guys are buying in?
- 29:46Dennis Robin is not out there trying to score 30 and he's
- 29:49getting rebounds and he playing defense.
- 29:51And Steve Kerr ain't trying to be, you know, this superhero.
- 29:55He's just doing what he's supposed to and being ready for
- 29:57the shot. Those those if those things
- 30:00matter and jets haven't established a culture, we don't
- 30:03know what the identity of The Jets is.
- 30:05And be honest, the fans got more of a culture than the actual
- 30:09team and the organization. Like y'all at least y'all
- 30:11understand y'all role, position and and places and how to, you
- 30:15know, organize to be be organized together.
- 30:18The the organization overall is the wrong people in the wrong
- 30:21places and the wrong people got the ears of the people who are
- 30:26making decision and they're just making horrible decisions from a
- 30:30Foreign Office stands and from a coach stance and you give up way
- 30:34too quick. All right, so you, you brought
- 30:36up the fans and, and a lot of these media guys and I, I can't
- 30:39stand half of them and, and honestly, they don't know what
- 30:41the hell they're talking about. And the fans I think is the
- 30:44biggest problem right now for the New York Jets, when the fans
- 30:47are starting to speak, get rid of the coach or get rid of the
- 30:50offensive coordinator or get rid of the players.
- 30:52Then Woody Johnson steps in and he breaks bread with the fans
- 30:56and he does whatever the fans want.
- 30:58And now I think that's the problem is the fans think that
- 31:01they know more than the organization.
- 31:02The fans think or the media thinks that making this move is
- 31:06the best move for the organization.
- 31:08And I think over the years as a Jet fan has been a big problem
- 31:12for this organization. If if ownership just understands
- 31:15to bring in AGM, if you're hiring AGM to do his job, let
- 31:18him run the organization. James Dolan.
- 31:21The reason why the Knicks are successful with Leon Rose in
- 31:25Worldwide W is because James Dolan finally gave the reins to
- 31:31Leon Rose and he trusts Leon Rose that he can run this
- 31:34organization. He doesn't have to step in to
- 31:36break bread with the fans or or you know what, I don't like this
- 31:40player, get rid of him. I don't want him here like we've
- 31:42seen him do many, many times. Do you think that maybe
- 31:46ownership needs to kind of step away and stop listening to the
- 31:50fans, stop listening to media, all these stupid radio shows,
- 31:54these Jet podcasts that think they know more than everybody
- 31:57else? Do you think maybe ownership
- 32:00should let Moji do what he was hired to do?
- 32:03Ideally you would think that would be the case, but it's
- 32:05still a business. So like he's he has to 10 to the
- 32:11fans and hear them out to keep them buying tickets to keep them
- 32:15engaged and to keep them going back and forth in regards to,
- 32:19you know, merch ticket sales, season ticket holders.
- 32:23Hold on, hold on, hold on one second.
- 32:25Q. So you're going to tell me that
- 32:27Kansas City and Andy Reid and that organization is listening
- 32:31to the fans? They're not in that, they're not
- 32:34in The Jets position. That's totally different.
- 32:36That's again, they have a culture, they have
- 32:38understanding. There's already.
- 32:40They were you. They were in that position.
- 32:44They were. Hurt.
- 32:45They were hurt, that's right, because they finally brought in
- 32:48a competent coach that knew what he was and what knew what he was
- 32:51doing. So maybe if The Jets did
- 32:53something like that, maybe next time, if Aaron Glenn fails,
- 32:57bring in a John Gruden, tell John and you, you and Moji are
- 33:00going to be working. I'm not against them bringing in
- 33:02John Gruden. I don't think they would do it.
- 33:04That's what I'm saying. So you in the front office, I
- 33:07trust you to make that decision to do it.
- 33:09The front office that they have are going to say, hey, we got to
- 33:12go young because that's the trend.
- 33:14Got to go young, got to get one of these winning offensive
- 33:17coordinators. That's that went too deep in the
- 33:20playoffs. It's the same trend.
- 33:23So that's what I'm saying. So they're not trying to
- 33:25establish a culture of trying to actually win another Super Bowl.
- 33:29They are literally just being complacent and just saying, hey,
- 33:33we're what we're what, 3 or 4 on the scale in regards to the most
- 33:38the most money franchise in the league.
- 33:40So it's not it's not it's not hurting their bottom line and
- 33:44it's OK, you're in the biggest media market.
- 33:47So the mediocrity is, is a different level versus if you
- 33:51was Cleveland, you know what I mean?
- 33:53And you don't get talked about until football season.
- 33:56We still here right now talking about The Jets and trying to fix
- 33:58their issues for them, and they're not listening.
- 34:01All right, so there there's a guy who's been all over the
- 34:04media. He does a show on ESPN New York
- 34:07and and that's Bart Scott. I know you know who he is.
- 34:10You played with him with Rex Ryan.
- 34:12He's a Rex Ryan guy. He's come out over the last
- 34:16couple of weeks saying that he wants a job with The Jets.
- 34:19Pay me $1,000,000. I'll come and be your defensive
- 34:21coin area. I'll be your linebacker coach.
- 34:24Do you believe that Bart Scott, who has no experience as a
- 34:27coach, would work over there with Aaron Glenn?
- 34:31Tell me why this would work Because honestly, I love Bart.
- 34:34I I think he's a unique person out.
- 34:36He's a horrible media guy. He's not an analyst.
- 34:39He doesn't know anything. He doesn't know anything but
- 34:42football, but he's talking about basketball, hockey.
- 34:45Do you think I'm taking advice from Bart Scott about hockey,
- 34:49the Rangers and the Islanders? And I'm listening to this guy
- 34:52talk about hockey like he knows something.
- 34:54Right, which is where it tell you where his focus is.
- 34:56No, Dave Harris was our middle. He called out of place.
- 35:01He made out adjustments. You know me and he don't have
- 35:03the best relationship, but I mean, I'll be truthfully honest.
- 35:06Like he what? What would he possibly bring
- 35:09outside of, I mean, the individual coach, like little
- 35:13linebacker, assistant coach, you know, personnel coach, I give
- 35:16him that, yeah, he got experience and he's good enough
- 35:18to be able to earn that position.
- 35:20But a coach like someone who actually has input and is making
- 35:26decisions? No, that's what I'm saying.
- 35:29You said dumb. That sounds like why would we
- 35:32even consider that? Like he hasn't, you know, he's
- 35:36not breaking that down on on ESPN.
- 35:39He's not showing us no type of giving us no inclination that
- 35:42he's actually knowledgeable about the game of football.
- 35:46He just know what he knows, and that's OK.
- 35:49But I would never like, I would never consider like, Oh yeah,
- 35:52Bart Scott a good high year for it.
- 35:55Did you adjust? What are we talking about?
- 36:00Really. Him.
- 36:01Bart Scott. Yeah, no, it'd be a joke.
- 36:04I mean, we'd be laughed at even more.
- 36:05Like it'd just be like, these guys just really don't get it.
- 36:08They just doing whatever, just waste their money.
- 36:11He's definitely a man, he's definitely a mad backer, that's
- 36:14for sure. And that could be beneficial,
- 36:17but. How, how, how would that be
- 36:22beneficial to hear? Bart Scott.
- 36:24Like a individual talent, like a young guy that's coming in to
- 36:28lead him, being able to train him to be a little bit more
- 36:30physical, to be able to attack the and rerun have run reason
- 36:36you know playing zone coverage and things.
- 36:37And yeah, I could see him. He.
- 36:41Doesn't even know how to finish a sentence on the radio.
- 36:44You're going to tell me? That he used to do this.
- 36:50I'm telling you exactly what they're going to do.
- 36:53They're like, hey, young fella, you got to, you see that pulling
- 36:55guard? When they put that guard pull,
- 36:57he's telling you where the ball going.
- 36:59You got to get to hit that gap like that.
- 37:01Don't take a rocket size. You can do that.
- 37:03Like you know it ain't, you know, I want to pay him a
- 37:05million, but that's another thing.
- 37:08But I give him a couple thousand to come out there every now and
- 37:11then to say something, help encourage the guys speaking, get
- 37:16better into something. Let's let's just do some coaches
- 37:18that didn't know what they're doing.
- 37:19So I know you're I know you're a Steelers fan.
- 37:21So obviously Mike Tomlin stepping down and now they hire
- 37:24Mike McCarthy. So first, first part of it.
- 37:26Are you surprised Mike Tomlin stepped down and do you think
- 37:28he'll coach another team maybe in the next couple years?
- 37:31And also Mike McCarthy going there.
- 37:32Do you like to hire and could that keep Aaron Rodgers there?
- 37:36So that was a couple questions. All right, so.
- 37:39Tomlin first. What do you think he'll coach?
- 37:41Maybe in? A few years.
- 37:41Or so Tommy step stepping down was just a nice way of getting
- 37:44fired. Like that was just the political
- 37:47way of leaving. He had to at least win one
- 37:50playoff game to have any type of leverage.
- 37:53So that's their nice way of keeping his, you know,
- 37:58reputation. Yeah, reputation the same and up
- 38:02in the his. Aura.
- 38:04His Tomlin aura. Yeah, to keep that going or
- 38:07whatever. Do I think he will coach again?
- 38:11At first when I saw, you know, the news or whatever I was
- 38:14thinking, I was like, yeah, but you got to think about 20 years,
- 38:19all the one team to come back. It would have to be like a
- 38:25special unique situation. And even then, I really don't
- 38:28think he got more than two to five years left in coaching.
- 38:32Now, I know you look at like, you know, Andy Reid or whatever
- 38:34you like, yo, he's coaching forever.
- 38:36But it's like I just look at him and I don't see it like where he
- 38:42got more than two to five if he was a comeback.
- 38:45But if I if I'm playing it like I'm saying it, I don't think
- 38:50he'd do it. I don't think he'd do.
- 38:52I think he may go to like TV and then do be in like an advisory
- 38:56role for somebody. But I don't see him coming back
- 39:00as a coach. I just don't.
- 39:01And Mike McCarthy like the pick I.
- 39:03Do too. I don't think he, I don't think
- 39:05Aaron Rodgers come back neither. Yeah, I think Aaron Rodgers is
- 39:08done. He had a good season.
- 39:09If Tomlin would have stayed one more year, I could see Aaron
- 39:11Rodgers being emotional and coming back for one last year.
- 39:15But I don't think there's nothing left on the table for
- 39:19Aaron. I don't think he's in in a
- 39:22situation where he can actually help A-Team get to the Super
- 39:25Bowl. Well.
- 39:25He does. He's got his made-up wife.
- 39:27I mean, he's got married in the offseason.
- 39:30Nobody's met her, nobody's ever seen her but I.
- 39:34Know how you do it, especially in Calvin.
- 39:36He named his hand Brittany, and he married his aunt and he put a
- 39:39ring on it. That's what he did.
- 39:41I mean, he uses his hands in many different ways.
- 39:44I mean, in his pants, you know, on a football.
- 39:47So maybe that's what he named his.
- 39:49His new wife is him. Hi.
- 39:50Hi, Brittany. How are you?
- 39:52Yeah, we got people identifying as different things these days.
- 39:55Yeah, you're. Absolutely.
- 39:57The situation might be a situation he's in.
- 40:00I don't know. You never know.
- 40:02There's no limit no more. It's like he can go either way.
- 40:05Bad Bunny said he's going. He's going to be on the stage
- 40:07during the halftime show with a dress.
- 40:09Worst decision ever. That is the worst decision ever.
- 40:15Like it's it's a slap in the face and say, yeah, you know
- 40:18what, fans, we can care less about you.
- 40:21You know the integrity of the league.
- 40:24We care like we want money and we're going to do anything and
- 40:27anything that we can to get money.
- 40:29But I I will tell you this because I I do, I did hear a
- 40:32little bit of your taste from the beginning.
- 40:34I think you had a going into next season, I want you to just
- 40:38shift your mind from being the traditional fan to understand
- 40:42that this is WWF, all right? This is.
- 40:45Hold on, hold on, hold on hold. On this is pure entertainment.
- 40:51Let me tell you something. I am one of very few people.
- 40:54I've been doing this for almost 14 years.
- 40:56Q Let me let me let me throw this out to you.
- 41:00I am the first person before I was attacked by the media,
- 41:05before I was attacked by fans saying that the NFL is rigged.
- 41:09I've been saying this for a very long time.
- 41:12I've pinned it, I've pointed it out and I said, oh, that's not
- 41:16true. That's not true.
- 41:17You're out of your mind. I said the referees control the
- 41:19game. The NFL games are one play.
- 41:21You make one bad mistake, the game's over.
- 41:24I mean, it ends. It's it's usually within three
- 41:27to seven points. It's less than a touchdown.
- 41:29And all a referee has to do is call a bad play.
- 41:32Like the Broncos game. We all know that it wasn't a
- 41:35backward, backwards lateral. It was not he threw the ball, he
- 41:39over, he threw it with both hands and they called it.
- 41:42And and that was the touchdown that the the Patriots only
- 41:45needed to win the game, which cost the Broncos a chance to
- 41:48play in the the Super Bowl, which obviously got their
- 41:51offensive coordinator fired as well.
- 41:52So, yeah, which is crazy. And and with a third string
- 41:57quarterback that you know, the only, the only team that
- 42:00actually knew who he was with the New England Patriots, who by
- 42:03the way, Josh McDaniels drafted in the seventh round years
- 42:06before that, five years or six years before that, which we all
- 42:09know. And by the way, we are talking
- 42:11to former New York Jets defensive and our friend Quinton
- 42:13Couples. We love him on the show as we
- 42:15always invite him to come on the show.
- 42:17I've been saying this a long time, Quinton that I've I've
- 42:20always said that it's it's transition.
- 42:22I watch sports when I was a kid, these guys play to win.
- 42:26When you watch hockey, these guys would go out there and beat
- 42:28the hell out of each other to win the game.
- 42:30It's not like that anymore. They're all prima donnas.
- 42:32They're all like the NBA players.
- 42:35Michael Jordan couldn't stand the Detroit Pistons because they
- 42:37tried to, they tried to kill him.
- 42:39You know, now you know, these NBA players are each other's
- 42:43godfathers for each other's family members.
- 42:45I mean, they're best buddies. So when they're on the
- 42:48basketball court, they're they're hanging out with each
- 42:50other offset from the games of basketball.
- 42:53They're going out to dinner before the game.
- 42:55I mean, that's it's not competition anymore.
- 42:59Big problem. I think there's a lot.
- 43:01I think there was a lot of Hall of Fame guys who were absolutely
- 43:04good friends and hung out with each other.
- 43:07It's just that once then lights came on and we got in between
- 43:10the lines. It was kill or be killed.
- 43:13And so that's the difference between this generation now.
- 43:15Because they can't, they can't turn that switch on to be able
- 43:19to say like, this guy's my enemy.
- 43:21Like even when I play pick up, like I tell cats all the time,
- 43:24they like you're a whole different person.
- 43:26Like when you like playing the game or whatever.
- 43:28And I'm like, yeah, like I don't know how to be like cool with
- 43:32you afterwards. Like I'm I'm going at you and
- 43:35talking to you crazy on the court and then I'm asking you
- 43:38about your family when we done with the day, like after the
- 43:41games is over with and we about to walk out.
- 43:43I'm checking in on after I just mentally destroyed destroyed you
- 43:48in the court. You know me, but I'm not even
- 43:50thinking about what I did on the court, though.
- 43:52I'm like literally tuned out. So I'm talking to you as like, I
- 43:56genuinely care about you, like what's going on and just
- 43:59checking in with you. But if you like take a snapshot
- 44:02what's going on? It's like you was the most
- 44:05disrespectful person on the court while ago.
- 44:07How you just go from that to, yeah, how's the family,
- 44:10everything good? Like, you know, stuff like that.
- 44:12Like it's weird, but that's the era.
- 44:14Like I grew up in that era and like, that's how we operate.
- 44:17You know, I mean, like I would never cross that line while I'm
- 44:20in between the lines. Like, you know, every man has a
- 44:22line that you just don't cross. But this generation now you got
- 44:27to think, man, like it's like I said, it's not just to entertain
- 44:29the the NFL is rigged. It's just it just became
- 44:32entertainment. And so even with that, like this
- 44:35generation is all about entertainment.
- 44:37So even when you was just talking about Draymond that like
- 44:40you, it felt personal to you because of your your actual fan.
- 44:44However, he understands algorithms and he understands
- 44:51like if I say this, this is going to be on ESPN for the next
- 44:55two or three, four days, this may get me another 10 to 15,000
- 44:58more followers. Yeah, but that's the problem.
- 45:00Q They're using a platform they should not be using to do that.
- 45:04And, and again, the NBA should be stepping in suspending him to
- 45:08you know, I, I don't know, I. Mean this is what I'm saying,
- 45:10that the whole generation we're cooked.
- 45:13If you're not trying to get into the algorithm, then you're going
- 45:16to fall behind. So you have to say these
- 45:19outlandish things and the things what's going to automatically
- 45:21hit the algorithm? Race politics.
- 45:24All right. All right, all right, So these
- 45:27things are going to continually soon as you say something, it's
- 45:30going to be all over the place. All right, you know what?
- 45:33I. Mean, I got it.
- 45:34I got it. So, So what you're saying here
- 45:36on this show tonight is maybe I should just be outlandishly
- 45:39crazy, You know, go. You have to.
- 45:42Oh, so, so, OK, so I, I think for now on, I'm going to just
- 45:46talk about religion and raise and just throw it out there and
- 45:50hopefully it sticks ladies and. Gentlemen, if you want to get
- 45:52like 10 to 15,000, if you're doing it like if you were to get
- 45:55more followers and get more money coming in, absolutely for
- 45:58sure, I love it. But if you, if you were to stay
- 46:00true to the craft, you could do that too.
- 46:02It just takes you longer. That's what I'm saying.
- 46:04It just takes you longer to do it authentically then it does if
- 46:08you just keep getting algorithm. Listen, I'm as authentic as they
- 46:11get, my friends I. Agree, but I'm just saying I'm
- 46:15telling you decide that they look at it as like when you talk
- 46:18about the KDS and you talk about the trade mods, like we got guys
- 46:21who are out here wearing jewelry in the game and nobody snaps no
- 46:26necklace and nobody did nothing. Like, you know, like you know
- 46:31what it would be like if I was to hit somebody and that scene a
- 46:35diamond necklace or they or they showed the pad.
- 46:37You know what's about to happen in this place.
- 46:42I'm going to get all the forget the tackle.
- 46:45I'm trying to smash that and for sure, like I want to make sure
- 46:50that I do that, you know what I mean?
- 46:51I'm going out my way like those guys won't wearing like jewelry,
- 46:55like these guys are iced out and everything.
- 46:57And that's cool. But like that's what I'm saying.
- 47:00Like it's no bad intentions no more.
- 47:02So it's all entertainment and everybody just want clicks and
- 47:04money. That's it.
- 47:06And then now you got to start seeing people with the most
- 47:09followers get opportunities. Yeah.
- 47:13Not the people, not the athletes, just the one that got
- 47:16the most followers. But that's not getting to go
- 47:18with athletes. But I agree with you and that's
- 47:20the problem right now in this industry is like, it's funny and
- 47:24I want to I want to give a shout out to I don't use AIA lot and
- 47:27so I asked AI last night. So I asked AI last night, where
- 47:31do we rank against the best shows in America?
- 47:35And they put us against the best football show in America.
- 47:40And that's, I forget what part in something it's on.
- 47:44It's on Barstool. It's the number one show.
- 47:46It's on Netflix. They have their own, they have
- 47:49an opportunity. You, you could always check out
- 47:51the show on Netflix. So I asked them where do we rank
- 47:54against them seriously? And they, they, they put us in
- 47:58categories and they compared us and they edged us 5 to one
- 48:01against them. The only thing we didn't edge up
- 48:04edge against them was marketing and sponsorships because we're
- 48:07not on a big platform yet. But everything else,
- 48:10authenticity, personality, knowing what we're talking
- 48:14about, edgy, everything. They put us above practically
- 48:1890% of the shows in America. And that's AI looking at the
- 48:22analytics and looking at our show and comparing us.
- 48:25That's what I asked and I said, are you serious?
- 48:27He says absolutely serious. And then it explained to me why
- 48:31they chose us over them. That's amazing.
- 48:34When AI can tell you that, it makes you feel good, that you're
- 48:37doing something right and you can, you can compete and be
- 48:40compared to the best shows in America, but you're still not
- 48:43there yet. You're still not considered
- 48:45better than ask. US.
- 48:47Yes. Did you ask why?
- 48:50Yeah, it said. It's it's marketable.
- 48:52Did you ask for them to give you itemize about how to market to
- 48:55get these? Files 100%.
- 48:56We need to, we need to be signed by a major network.
- 48:58That's, that's really what it is.
- 49:00If we were on ESPN right now, if we were on the NFL Network right
- 49:04now, we would be the biggest show in America.
- 49:07I really do believe that. It's crazy to say that, and I
- 49:10know a lot of people. Probably saying I'm thinking
- 49:11about like when you start talking, I'm starting to think
- 49:13about like networks and stuff like that, because sometimes I
- 49:16think platforms matter, that obviously the bigger platforms
- 49:21matter, but I think that the relationship with the platform
- 49:24is going to continue to keep driven.
- 49:26You know, I mean, it's going to keep you tribe when you actually
- 49:29with a platform that you guys can coexist versus somebody
- 49:32who's just lump sum of money to be able to get their ratings and
- 49:36get get get their money up. We are talking to former New
- 49:40York Jets defensive end, our friend Quinn Culpas.
- 49:42And, and I agree with you and, and, and, and to me, what I
- 49:46really, really hate about this industry is there are guys that
- 49:50are in the industry that I've trained, that I've helped, and
- 49:54they don't even come close to the kind of product that we put
- 49:56out there. And they sit there, they kiss
- 49:58ass and whatever they do. And it bothers the hell out of
- 50:01me because I, you know, for 13 years, I've worked my, my tail
- 50:04off. And, and again, I, I've, I've
- 50:07spoken to agents, I've spoken to networks.
- 50:10Well, I've spoken to a network on comparing myself and I told,
- 50:14and it's crazy to say this, this guy, and he's the regional an
- 50:18old guy. He runs the whole radio station.
- 50:20I'm not going to mention the network.
- 50:22And I asked listen to how crazy I am when I got when I got him
- 50:26on the phone, I said, you know, when you retire, when you have
- 50:29an interview and somebody asks you what is the most important
- 50:33thing you did for the industry? What's the biggest thing you did
- 50:35for the industry? And I said, you know what you're
- 50:37going to say to them. And he says, what, you hired
- 50:40Errol Marx? And he looked at he, he started,
- 50:43he stopped for a second, he started giggling.
- 50:44And he says, wow, you really are confident that you're damn right
- 50:48I am. And I, I told him the straight
- 50:50up truth because honestly, it's not Everybody looks at content
- 50:55and everybody's like all these shows now are all about talking
- 50:59about their families, their dogs.
- 51:01When I'm listening to sports, I want to hear your take on the
- 51:03sports end. I want to, I want to laugh.
- 51:05I want you to give me the entertainment part of your take.
- 51:08But I want to hear sports. I don't want to hear about your
- 51:11dog taking him to the vet, putting them to sleep or
- 51:15shooting, you know, shooting, you know, a catheter up your ass
- 51:19or some stupid crap that these guys are talking about.
- 51:22I don't want to hear about it. I want to hear about your take.
- 51:25And half of these guys don't even know what the hell they're
- 51:26talking about. Well, they just regurgitate,
- 51:29Yeah, what they heard this morning, what they heard this
- 51:31morning, what they heard before they went on air.
- 51:33I don't listen to anybody, Quentin.
- 51:35I don't listen to anybody. You have Bart Scott.
- 51:37I do. I hate him.
- 51:38I hate him. I'm the guy that.
- 51:39Get it? I'm tired.
- 51:41All of them. Like even like, like what's your
- 51:44name? Ryan Taylor.
- 51:45Like it just talks crazy, just says all the dumbest things.
- 51:49But he understands algorithms. So while I used to get mad at
- 51:53him, I understand that he's doing whatever they take for the
- 51:55algorithm. He's not actually giving the
- 51:56good tape. If you look at like Stephen A
- 52:00like Stephen A, he went from actually being authentic
- 52:04journalism to like just hollering to now he's playing
- 52:07like even if you look at his not to go into the politics, but
- 52:10like if you go to his page and you start sending his
- 52:12independence, Steven A sis show, he played both sides.
- 52:17So he tethered to whatever. Like so say something happened
- 52:20with Trump or whatever, then he going to play to the Democrats
- 52:23and then say the Democrats do something stupid and he going to
- 52:25play with the Republican. He's never consistent and you
- 52:27don't know what he and he just says in the name of being an
- 52:30independent. Well, what is an independent
- 52:32nothing. There's no like when is when
- 52:35have we had an independent representation?
- 52:38Like, like it doesn't, it's nothing.
- 52:42It's literally nothing there. And so that's what I'm saying
- 52:45like it's just, and then he's at a place now where he got people
- 52:48who write for him like, you know, and give him these tapes
- 52:51and stuff. He's not really going to
- 52:52research. He got a research team and then
- 52:54they just doing whatever the algorithm say.
- 52:56So that's what I'm saying. Like all of this is just
- 52:58entertainment now. It's not even, and this is
- 53:00frustrating, frustrating me and you because we understand the
- 53:04actual game and we actually have a perspective that can actually
- 53:08be helpful to people who don't understand the game to like the
- 53:12general fan that just love, you know, The Jets or just love
- 53:16watching football. Like we can give them a
- 53:17perspective that they'll never understand before.
- 53:20And we found value in that where they just like, I just want you
- 53:23to click on this and stay up here for 30 seconds on this one
- 53:28minute clip. And then I get that, I get that
- 53:31rated, I get that light, I get that view and my data says that
- 53:35I got S amount of views today. And then I get I get a check
- 53:40from this platform, I get a check from that platform.
- 53:42Then I go to the table and I negotiate a deal with this
- 53:45platform and then they pay me and my ratings are go down but I
- 53:48already got my check. You're upsetting me here.
- 53:53This is. I started a podcast so I'm into
- 53:57it now. I started to see it.
- 53:59I'm loving. It, I'm loving it.
- 54:00Maybe you should invite me on your podcast because I'll drop
- 54:03the I'm going to drop the hammer on everybody.
- 54:06Here's my take on it. Screw Stephen A Smith, screw
- 54:09Bart Scott, screw them all, Pat McAfee and I.
- 54:14And here's the fact. Pretty good though.
- 54:15You don't like? Pat Pat doesn't know anything
- 54:18about football. When he gets into the basketball
- 54:20conversation, you can tell he's he's being told what to say.
- 54:24Listen, if I'm going to listen to somebody, I want them to
- 54:27actually know what they're talking about, correct?
- 54:30I want to. I want to hear your take.
- 54:32You're going to give me your take.
- 54:33And it's going to make sense. Now when I'm hearing Stephen A
- 54:36Smith tell me that Floyd Mayweather is the greatest boxer
- 54:38of all time when he doesn't even know who he fought his last five
- 54:41fights, OK, I don't want to hear it.
- 54:45I don't. You don't even know who he was
- 54:47fighting his last five fights. Again, he's a train guy.
- 54:50Yeah, and to me, it's pathetic. And you want to, you want to
- 54:53know this and this is the truth. I watch mixed martial arts and
- 54:56then I see Stephen A Smith at some of these events at UFC320
- 55:01or UFC319. What do you know about mixed
- 55:04martial? Arts he just got to say he's
- 55:06dead. Oh, it's like it's a seat
- 55:09filler. It's like going to the Grammys
- 55:10and you see somebody in there and then that's me.
- 55:12You don't see it. Then you see somebody in that
- 55:14same seat. There's just a seat filler.
- 55:15He's just going to you got to be in these places.
- 55:18That's another thing that you should do, like start going to
- 55:20these events, making yourself seen or whatever, because a lot
- 55:24of the times that's where the deals are made.
- 55:26Oh, I saw you at the UFC 320. Oh, yeah.
- 55:29Oh, I saw you at the UFC White House situation.
- 55:32Oh, yeah. Oh, I saw you at the
- 55:33inauguration. Oh, yeah, I saw you at the
- 55:35ESPYs. Oh yeah, I saw like, you just
- 55:37got to be around. Yeah, I, I just got to jump.
- 55:40You know, I, I should just put like, I should be like, I should
- 55:43get wings and I should just fly from one place to another.
- 55:46Got to go to San Francisco right there.
- 55:49It's going to be hard. I'm not going to go to San
- 55:51Francisco, but it's going to be terrible.
- 55:52No, no, no, no, we have we have Nith, you know, our our blue
- 55:56blazer killer as he he he flew over there and we'll let him
- 56:00take our credentials. I do here's what I I don't like
- 56:03about the NFL. And by the way, we are talking
- 56:05to former New York Jets defensive end, our friend
- 56:07Quinton Coppols. He's he's obviously starting a
- 56:09podcast. We love him.
- 56:11We love his personality. It's it's good.
- 56:13It's it's great. I So what I can't stand about
- 56:17the NFL is we went to the we were invited to the Super Bowl
- 56:20last year. So we went and at the last
- 56:23minute they told us, oh, we don't have a table for you at
- 56:25radio row. But when we got there, I had my
- 56:28executive producer fish and Nick Goody an X and I'm sorry, ex MLB
- 56:33player that came with us to, to help us, you know, bring, you
- 56:36know, different personalities to come and sit with us.
- 56:39So they went up there and they said, well, we were invited.
- 56:41Why? We have credentials, but we
- 56:43don't have a table. Well, if there's a table open
- 56:45you can sit at. So we were jumping from table to
- 56:47table being disrespected while we saw college students from LSU
- 56:51or schools we never even heard of sitting, eating their lunch,
- 56:54not eating, very winning. Anybody but the NF OS OK with
- 56:57that, but they're not OK for a top 200 show.
- 57:00By the way, I don't know if you know this Quinton Cole, Quinton
- 57:02Q. We Quinton coops, we were ranked
- 57:07at 107th in football shows. That's 2.5 million people in
- 57:14America on Spotify. Think about that.
- 57:18But the NFL. But screw the NFL.
- 57:20They didn't give us a table. They give all these other idiots
- 57:22tables that were ahead. Of.
- 57:25What happened? Who's your contact in the NFL?
- 57:27The. NFL they we reach out to the.
- 57:30Credentials. You can't reach out to the NFL
- 57:31like some general random guy. You got to have a contact.
- 57:35No, Maybe we got to go through you.
- 57:37How about that? You're my.
- 57:38Contact you're. My contact.
- 57:41Anybody hate me as much as I be talking bad about him?
- 57:46Oh. There it goes one of our
- 57:47interns, zoot, he says that his school St. what is that bottom
- 57:53adventure? They got a table, but we didn't
- 57:56and we're so they told me so I we reached out to them.
- 58:00I asked them so so I made a plan if I was going to go there this
- 58:02year. I had I bought mics and
- 58:04everything we'll do the interview standing up screw
- 58:06them, But you know what I said? You know what I'm not going to
- 58:08promote their platform. Why am I going to give them any
- 58:12credit when they didn't give us the credit when we we're on blue
- 58:15wire we're we're doing all our stuff.
- 58:17We're as good as anybody in the in the industry and we're not
- 58:19getting a table. But Saint Bonaventure has a
- 58:22table. Screw you, Saint Bonaventure.
- 58:25Screw you LSU. Up yours BYU.
- 58:30Kiss my. Ass, you know, yeah, you got,
- 58:32you got it, you got it. You get you can't take this
- 58:34person. You got to get out your
- 58:36feelings. No, I'm, I'm I'm cool, man.
- 58:38I'm cool. No, I no, you can feel, but you
- 58:41can't be in your feelings because at the end of the day,
- 58:45like so you again, this is just business, it's just
- 58:48entertainment. So that's what I'm saying like
- 58:51you got to turn that switch where you got to realize like,
- 58:53Hey, this is just how can I put this reality TV slash VR?
- 59:00Like you know how they were selling virtual real estate and
- 59:03people was actually behind me? Yeah, I have a friend that did
- 59:07it. This is where we at, this is who
- 59:09it is. This is where we at, this is the
- 59:10type of people that we're dealing with and you know, I
- 59:13mean people who are spending hundreds of thousands, millions
- 59:15of dollars buying virtual real estate in the middle of nothing
- 59:20like so that's what you got to take into consideration.
- 59:22Like this joke is just a front. It's no, you just act like, you
- 59:26know, you're a part of the club or whatever, but do your own
- 59:29thing. Don't get caught up with the
- 59:30Hollywood parties and stuff, but just go in, handle your
- 59:34business, meet who you need and meet and do your interviews and
- 59:38get out. Yeah, well, I'm not going it.
- 59:40Sucks, it sucks, but I'm just telling you because you deserve
- 59:45it. Like you know, even y'all, y'all
- 59:46you all do y'all deserve. Exactly everything that you guys
- 59:51desire in regards to this. I love you, man.
- 59:54We got it, we got it. We got to talk off air.
- 59:57Throw me your number, throw me your number.
- 59:59We got to talk. We got to talk bud.
- 1:00:01I I honestly, we love everything about you personally, personally
- 1:00:05and personality wise. I I think you'll do great as a
- 1:00:09podcaster and I for all these idiots that do do podcasts that
- 1:00:13are absolutely horrible, half these guys, Richard Sherman.
- 1:00:15Oh my God, that show is absolutely putrid.
- 1:00:19I listen. Listen to his show.
- 1:00:20I don't really listen to podcast.
- 1:00:21I popped it on the other day. I almost threw up.
- 1:00:23OK, I can't sit and listen to a guy that you know, he was a good
- 1:00:26football player, but his personality and trying to go off
- 1:00:30set from all the other stuff that he talks is just absolutely
- 1:00:33horrible. And I I don't even want to hear
- 1:00:35his take on some of the stuff that comes out of his mouth, but
- 1:00:39we love you, man. Keep up the good work.
- 1:00:41Let's let's click after you got my you got my direct messenger.
- 1:00:46Yeah. Send me your notes.
- 1:00:47We'll. Talk.
- 1:00:47I'll shoot you. Yeah, I'll shoot you my
- 1:00:48information and yeah, let's. Do something.
- 1:00:50Absolutely, Quinton. Couples, ladies.
- 1:00:53Sir. The one, the man, the killer.
- 1:00:57Rex Ryan's pick. Yes, Sir, That's right.
- 1:01:00He's great. Man, we love you, man.
- 1:01:02Quinton Couples. He's sensational.
- 1:01:04Yeah, I love him. He really is great personality
- 1:01:07and and honestly was mistreated by the New York Jets.
- 1:01:10If The Jets put him in the right position, this guy could have
- 1:01:12been a great defensive lineman. But The Jets did did him wrong
- 1:01:17and obviously got pushed around a couple of places and and
- 1:01:20really didn't really get over the hump.
- 1:01:22So unfortunately it just it happens like that.
- 1:01:24But he's straightforward. He gave you his own take and
- 1:01:28let's go inside baseball. Now let's go deep, deep inside.
- 1:01:32What I am exciting this? Is inside baseball.
- 1:01:38All right, here we are back in Inside baseball.
- 1:01:43I guess I didn't make an updated graphic, this one.
- 1:01:45Well, guys, I got some good stuff for you starting off with
- 1:01:49the trade that happened today of an All Star.
- 1:01:52The Mariners have acquired All Star Brendan Donovan from the
- 1:01:58Saint Louis Cardinals on Monday in a three team trade that
- 1:02:02included guess who, the Tampa Bay Rays, who always seem to
- 1:02:06find their way as the third or fourth team in these types of
- 1:02:10deals. It just is what they do.
- 1:02:13So the deal with sources said three team proposals.
- 1:02:17We got a I'm, I don't know how to pronounce his name, Durangelo
- 1:02:21Sujenti, who's the number 5 prospect in the top 103rd
- 1:02:27baseman Ben Williamson goes to the Rays.
- 1:02:30The Cardinals get a bunch of prospects, tie Pete from
- 1:02:33Seattle, Colton Ledbetter. Regardless, it's Donovan that
- 1:02:37we're talking about from this deal.
- 1:02:39The Mariners, they went and got Euenio Suarez at the deadline.
- 1:02:44He's a free agent. They didn't get him.
- 1:02:45We'll talk about him in a second actually, but Brendan Donovan
- 1:02:49had is a high average hitter, plays every single position
- 1:02:53basically on in the outfield, in the infield.
- 1:02:57He's he's pretty useful guy. I love it.
- 1:03:00And by the way, he can play multiple positions.
- 1:03:01He can play left field, third base, second base.
- 1:03:04This guy can hit for average. He's not a power hitter.
- 1:03:07He had eleven home runs I think last year, 287 hitter.
- 1:03:11He can do a lot of different things.
- 1:03:13What I believe the Mariners need is that stable defensive
- 1:03:17position player that can play multiple positions.
- 1:03:20They can move them around the field.
- 1:03:21I I think it's a slam thug firm. Great move by the Seattle
- 1:03:24Seattle Mariners. Yeah, they definitely need that
- 1:03:26kind of production in the infield if they're going to lose
- 1:03:28Suarez. Crawford's been up and down and
- 1:03:29hitting wise, too, and same thing with their corner outfield
- 1:03:31positions. They've just been up and down.
- 1:03:33I like him a lot and I think he was the first winner of that
- 1:03:35utility award, fish the Gold Glove.
- 1:03:38So I think he played every position catcher one year.
- 1:03:40Yeah, I've I've been on him is a fantasy baseball guy for a
- 1:03:44number of years. I just love guys that are going
- 1:03:47to hit 280 to 300 every single season and he's going to strike
- 1:03:51out and has the on base skills he's got like those Billy Bean.
- 1:03:55You know, you need to have the on base percentage needs to be
- 1:03:58like 70 to 80 points higher than the batting average.
- 1:04:01And if you're batting the money ball stuff and if you're batting
- 1:04:05average is in the two 80s, that means we're talking you're on
- 1:04:07base 3536% of the time. You're in an All Star if you do
- 1:04:11that and you could play Gold Glove out infield and outfield.
- 1:04:15Pretty damn good trade for the Mariners to start off inside
- 1:04:18baseball. Let's go to the next topic.
- 1:04:20We've got Ohtani not going to pitch in the World Baseball
- 1:04:26Classic. And numbers of players are not
- 1:04:30being give, are not going to be playing mostly from Latin
- 1:04:33American countries and places such as Puerto Rico, obviously
- 1:04:37part of the United States, but Venezuela, numbers of players
- 1:04:41are not being insured. And the reason, the reason is
- 1:04:47the contract. We have a couple of reasons.
- 1:04:49Miguel Rojas turned 37, they won't insure anyone over 37 from
- 1:04:54Latin America. I don't know what the reason for
- 1:04:57that is. There's been older players that
- 1:04:58were insured in America. Like I'm pretty sure Clayton
- 1:05:01Kershaw's over that age and he's going to be on that team.
- 1:05:05Obviously he's never playing again.
- 1:05:06So maybe it's different. But the other part is Francisco
- 1:05:08Lindor is not being insured to play in the World Baseball
- 1:05:12Classic for Puerto Rico because his contract is too valuable and
- 1:05:16they don't want to have to insure someone who has a $200
- 1:05:19million left on their contract. And again, they're allowing
- 1:05:24American guys such as Kyle Tucker, who we know just signed
- 1:05:27a $240 million, four year contract to play.
- 1:05:30This is kind of a really fascinating thing.
- 1:05:33And then anyone who has injury history, they've pulled them
- 1:05:36from it. Carlos Correa, Jose Berrios have
- 1:05:41been pulled from this WBC. The WBC is kind of losing some
- 1:05:45steam, Meryl. Don't play.
- 1:05:46Don't play then. I mean, Otani has the deferred
- 1:05:49money. He's getting paid, what, 2
- 1:05:50million a year? But oh, he's got $100 million of
- 1:05:53sponsors. If you want to be in the World
- 1:05:56Baseball Classic, you're playing for your your team, you're
- 1:05:59playing for your country. It shouldn't.
- 1:06:01You have millions and millions of dollars.
- 1:06:03If you're worried about getting hurt, then don't play in the
- 1:06:05game. I know what happened to Edwin
- 1:06:06Diaz the last WBC. He was out for the season
- 1:06:09tearing. I think he was his Achilles or
- 1:06:10his knee, whatever it was. I understand that.
- 1:06:13But you're you're playing for your country, you're playing for
- 1:06:16your flag, you're playing that. If you, again, I understand what
- 1:06:19the WBC is doing. I understand that they don't
- 1:06:21have insurance. It really doesn't matter.
- 1:06:24Don't play that. Yeah, it looks bad.
- 1:06:26Like when you see an international foundation like
- 1:06:28you see with the Olympics. We've seen with FIFA have
- 1:06:30problems with not paying their players enough or not paying the
- 1:06:32right insurance. It's one thing.
- 1:06:33It's a whole country doing it too, and it looks really bad.
- 1:06:36What you the last thing you described, fish looks really
- 1:06:38bad. A player with injury history
- 1:06:39should not be, cannot be insured.
- 1:06:41That is the most stupid thing I might have ever heard.
- 1:06:44So get an insurance policy out, pay for the insurance policy.
- 1:06:47If you're a professional athlete and you're making that kind of
- 1:06:50money, pay for insurance policy. You can go to the there's many
- 1:06:53ways call an insurance company and get a policy put on it.
- 1:06:56I I know football players had a policies put on their hair $4
- 1:06:59million Palomalo before during the regular season, they had an
- 1:07:03insurance policy on his hair. So if you want an insurance
- 1:07:06policy, hey Mr. Deferred Money over there, go pull it out of
- 1:07:09your ass. I'm pretty sure Jlo at one point
- 1:07:12had like a $50 million policy on her behind, Speaking of which.
- 1:07:16But but it's very strange. You want to watch them play.
- 1:07:19You would think the league would do something if they want the
- 1:07:22WBC to be successful. But there are some people that
- 1:07:25are saying that the Japanese players and the USA players are
- 1:07:29being allowed to do it, are being allowed to be in it.
- 1:07:31Making the other teams weaker so that we can see a rigged final
- 1:07:35of USA versus Japan might be a little bit of like a rigging it
- 1:07:40in the books here. Let's move on to the next topic.
- 1:07:43The Athletics have signed going into the second season, Jacob
- 1:07:48Wilson, their shortstop. He was second in his second in
- 1:07:51the voting for AL Rookie of the year to A7 year $70 million
- 1:07:57contract. So the A's lock him up for the
- 1:07:59long term. He's only 23, so that'll take
- 1:08:02him to age 30. Finish second in the AL Rookie
- 1:08:05of the year. He hit 311 as as a rookie with a
- 1:08:09355 on a 444 slugging. That's just was at that 799 OPS
- 1:08:16for the season, 13 homers, 63 RBIs, 125 games.
- 1:08:21His teammate Nick Kurtz, of course, was the was the AL
- 1:08:24Rookie of the Year, but had an awesome season.
- 1:08:27And of course, it's as soon as the Athletics leave Oakland and
- 1:08:32don't get to give any of this great young talent to that fan
- 1:08:36base that was tortured for absolutely forever.
- 1:08:39I guess they're still in Sacramento for now.
- 1:08:42I guess they're going to Vegas. But as far as I know, nothing's
- 1:08:44really official exactly on their landing spot currently.
- 1:08:48This is a great deal. Why?
- 1:08:49Because there could be a strike in a year from now, and now you
- 1:08:53have this guy set for seven years, 70 million.
- 1:08:56It's a great deal. He's young.
- 1:08:58And again, this is something that the Braves have done over
- 1:09:01the years. They're signing their players
- 1:09:03early so they don't have to worry to worry five years from
- 1:09:07now when they're arbitrated. And then they have to be.
- 1:09:10They're unrestricted free agents and they lose their players.
- 1:09:12The A's are doing the right thing.
- 1:09:14Slam dunk for the A's signing their their young shortstop.
- 1:09:18Yeah, any middle tier and and smaller market should definitely
- 1:09:20follow that model. It was work for the Braves.
- 1:09:22I know it didn't work for the White Sox so it kind of
- 1:09:23backfired on them, but the White Sox had all other issues.
- 1:09:26But they did this last year with Rooker and Lawrence Butler.
- 1:09:28I believe Langoliers too as well got a deal.
- 1:09:31So they're at least lucky in the hair is not just going to work
- 1:09:33on the pitch like. Soderstrom also got a deal,
- 1:09:35Soderstrom too as well. So, but again, it's all in that
- 1:09:39Braves, like you said, Errol, that Braves like get them buy
- 1:09:42out their, you know, arbitration years and give them the
- 1:09:46contract. So they get money in their hand
- 1:09:48when they're younger. That makes them happier.
- 1:09:50And then when they're 30, they can get that big contract if
- 1:09:53they're still good, you know, to get that one more big contract
- 1:09:56or a couple of smaller contracts, you know, for the
- 1:09:58rest of their career. I, I think it's a win win.
- 1:10:00I love that format. And it's obviously, you know,
- 1:10:03outside of all the injuries year from hell the Braves had this
- 1:10:05year, it's been a pretty good model.
- 1:10:08All right, so let's move on to the next one big name on the
- 1:10:11market and it's CJ Abrams. This is a guy who has 25 home
- 1:10:15run power and fifty stolen base every year just waiting.
- 1:10:20He's now the issue with Abrams. Obviously he's on Washington.
- 1:10:23They got him from San Diego in A and I believe that was the
- 1:10:26original prize for the Wan. So he was.
- 1:10:28One of the six guys? Yep.
- 1:10:30Yeah, he was the original prize. Gore was another one, too, and
- 1:10:33he's gone. Right.
- 1:10:34So they're they're obviously selling it, you know, and they
- 1:10:37haven't made it official, but there's a lot of people that can
- 1:10:41use a shortstop. Not everybody looks at Abrams as
- 1:10:44a shortstop going forward. Defense is a problem.
- 1:10:47He could be, he could end up the outfield, could end up at 2nd.
- 1:10:51But I'm pretty sure there's a lot of teams, including the
- 1:10:54Yankees that should be all over a middle infielder.
- 1:10:57That's a 2550 guy. 257 last year.
- 1:11:00That's what I worry about, batting average and obviously
- 1:11:03the average of the league is batting between 2:40 and 2:35.
- 1:11:07But if you're going to bring in a shortstop, they've had
- 1:11:10problems with Volpe. Volpe is it was hitting at the
- 1:11:13end of the season, I think it was like 210, two, 15.
- 1:11:16The guy's only hitting .40 more than he is.
- 1:11:19So that's what I worry about bringing in a guy that might
- 1:11:22have some pop. So does Volpe.
- 1:11:24Volpe hit 20 something home runs last year and can steal bases.
- 1:11:27I don't know if I want to bring in the same type of player to my
- 1:11:30roster and have to give up a tremendous amount of prospects.
- 1:11:33So I wouldn't do it if I was the Yankees.
- 1:11:35But there are other organizations that have a
- 1:11:37boatload of young prospects that they need to get rid of and they
- 1:11:40need, they need to add defensive help or offensive help.
- 1:11:43So I would do it. But I, I if I were the Yankees,
- 1:11:46I'd stay away from them. And based on the Gore trade, you
- 1:11:48might be taking a good chance on a falling price with this new GM
- 1:11:51with the Nationals that maybe this new ownership doesn't
- 1:11:53really trust as much. You might be able to get him for
- 1:11:55less if you're any of these American League contendings, I
- 1:11:58think outside of Detroit and. If you were the Yankees, would
- 1:12:00you make that move? At a lower price, I think I
- 1:12:02would, but not really. Not at the price that.
- 1:12:04Not at the price that. Volpe is a better player than
- 1:12:06he. Is not at the price that they're
- 1:12:08asking for, but I think both players have been up and down
- 1:12:11enough where I still. Volpe is younger, Volpe is a
- 1:12:13year younger than he is, Volpe has more pop and Volpe has more
- 1:12:17speed. So why would you bring this?
- 1:12:19Guy he doesn't have more speed he's this this guy's an absolute
- 1:12:23burner Abrams is one of the fastest guys in the league so is
- 1:12:27Volpe, but it's fast well, I I'm not I'm not I'd let speedy
- 1:12:30finish but you know this guy is that's the thing that if you're
- 1:12:35interested in him it's for his speed and they're having that
- 1:12:38decent pop not as good as Volpe you're right though the.
- 1:12:40Other other element I was mentioning though is because the
- 1:12:43Yankees have still some other questions with like obviously if
- 1:12:45they keep Chisen long term like if they let him go then maybe
- 1:12:48he's a second baseman or and Volpe still is there anyway.
- 1:12:51I think they all have good versatile pieces and you have to
- 1:12:53play for injuries. I wouldn't mind taking the
- 1:12:55chance if the value falls shorter.
- 1:12:56I wouldn't pay him at his regular price.
- 1:12:58Though All right, so I, I'm looking at Volpe stealing
- 1:13:00numbers last year was down because it was down all but he
- 1:13:03had eighteen stolen bases. He only Abraham's only had 31
- 1:13:09stolen bases. So as far as popping and RB Oz,
- 1:13:12it's I'm keeping Volpe. If I'm going to pick one from
- 1:13:15the other, I'm keeping Volpe. And I, I let Abrams go wherever
- 1:13:19he's going to go. I, I, if I'm the Yankees, I
- 1:13:20don't make that move. I, I think Volpe was playing
- 1:13:23hurt and that's why the defense suffered.
- 1:13:24I'm willing to give Volpe another chance, see if he's
- 1:13:27healthy, see, see if that defense bounced back because I
- 1:13:30don't want a guy who can't play shortstop that we just traded a
- 1:13:32lot for. And I'm worried defensively that
- 1:13:34Abrams is going to be another corner outfielder.
- 1:13:37And we already got like 12 of those guys.
- 1:13:39So it just wouldn't be the guy I trade for.
- 1:13:42But he is definitely the big name out there.
- 1:13:44You should pay attention to it. Couple of smaller signings
- 1:13:47mentioned them earlier. Yuenio Suarez, big home run
- 1:13:49hitter, goes to the Reds in a one year, $15 million deal.
- 1:13:54Again, had 49 home runs last year.
- 1:13:57I believe it was an All Star. Was with the Diamondbacks for a
- 1:14:00while. He always had batting average
- 1:14:02issues where he had really low batting averages and lots of
- 1:14:06strikeouts. Those numbers have been
- 1:14:08significantly better. His slugging was out of control
- 1:14:11last year, especially after he went to Seattle with their run.
- 1:14:15And then the other one, Buster Posey knows good hitting.
- 1:14:17Buster Posey signs Luis arise in the Giants and they're going to
- 1:14:22put him over probably playing a little bit of first base DH ING.
- 1:14:26But this guy's, you know, he had three years in a row where he
- 1:14:30was bad in like 3/25, 3:30 Everybody knows Arise isn't the
- 1:14:34best defender out there, but he is probably the best contact
- 1:14:38hitter in baseball and has been for the last five to six years.
- 1:14:41I love Luis Arise and that's the guy the Yankees should have
- 1:14:44signed. If he's going to sign a one year
- 1:14:46deal, I would have absolutely brought him in.
- 1:14:50They need they need guys that can hit, hit for average.
- 1:14:53The Yankees had problems in the playoffs.
- 1:14:55You put him in that lineup to protect, maybe behind Aaron
- 1:14:58Judge hitting in the five spot or the the 6th spot that spreads
- 1:15:02out their offense, spreads out their lineup.
- 1:15:05It would have made a lot of sense for the Yankees.
- 1:15:07Suarez, that was an absolute slam dunk one year.
- 1:15:10How much was it 15,000,000? That's a slam dunk.
- 1:15:14A guy that hit 49 home runs, even if he gives you 30 and 30
- 1:15:17and 80, it's a slam dunk for 15,000,000.
- 1:15:21The Reds made a great move. They needed some offense in the
- 1:15:23second-half of the season. I think it's a great move.
- 1:15:25Yeah, they need veteran leadership for a very young
- 1:15:27team. Then you had a young infield
- 1:15:28that got hurt last year with steer up and down with injury.
- 1:15:31Matt McLean miss I think 81 or 90 games or something like that.
- 1:15:34So I think this is a good one year contract.
- 1:15:36The fans love them there in Cincinnati and then arise for
- 1:15:38the Giants too. They're going to need contact
- 1:15:39hitting because they don't have. 15 billions is nothing for a 40.
- 1:15:42A guy that hits 49 home runs and could give you almost 100 RBI's,
- 1:15:46yeah, that's a steal. Yep.
- 1:15:48And then for a rise sake, I think the Giants need more
- 1:15:50lineup depth. They're not going to have a lot
- 1:15:51of power just with the parks that they're in and the teams
- 1:15:53are going to play again. So they got somebody that can
- 1:15:55mentor those guys in our eyes so.
- 1:15:56All right, we got one more topic left and that topic is the
- 1:16:01retirement of the West Yankee still active from the 2009 World
- 1:16:07Series team, Former Yankees reliever and David Robertson is
- 1:16:13calling it a career. This is one I was hoping we have
- 1:16:15Jabba for. You know, obviously Jabba played
- 1:16:18with him on that championship team, announced his retirement
- 1:16:21on Friday, ending his playing career.
- 1:16:22He played for eight teams over 18 years.
- 1:16:26Nine of those years. So half of his career was with
- 1:16:28the Yankees. He was a 17th round pick as
- 1:16:30again he was a relief pitcher for the championship team.
- 1:16:33He was a closer for a while. He bounced around the league and
- 1:16:36had some had a lot of success in a lot of clutch moments.
- 1:16:40I think I remember him mostly being a clutch player.
- 1:16:44How do you guys remember David? Houdini.
- 1:16:47That's who they gave him a nickname to.
- 1:16:50He was Houdini. A lot of times that I saw David
- 1:16:54Robertson, he would come into the game and then he'd load the
- 1:16:58bases and then if there would be one out and he'd get out of
- 1:17:01trouble after those two batters and strike out the side.
- 1:17:05That's why they called him Houdini.
- 1:17:07He would put himself in bad situations and get himself out
- 1:17:09of it. He was one of the best at doing
- 1:17:12that with the Yankees over the years.
- 1:17:13I love David Robinson everywhere he went, even when he went to
- 1:17:16Philadelphia and he jumped ship when he when he left the
- 1:17:19Yankees. He had many, many opportunities
- 1:17:22of success and, and, and at the tail end of his career, he kind
- 1:17:27of fought injuries and obviously he wasn't the same pitcher when
- 1:17:31he left the Yankees, but he was a sensational relief pitcher for
- 1:17:33the Yankees, especially when they won the World Series in
- 1:17:362009. Yeah, tough situations.
- 1:17:38I think good sparks for a lot of bad bullpens.
- 1:17:40Even after he left the Yankees, a Phillies bullpen when he went
- 1:17:42there was atrocious. It really helped elevate.
- 1:17:44He was with the Mets for a little bit, had one Goodyear,
- 1:17:46one bad year with them. But again, tough situations,
- 1:17:49lots of different roles. He didn't have to be a closer,
- 1:17:50right? Very good career for Robertson
- 1:17:52for sure. He was actually an absolutely
- 1:17:54excellent player. It's sad to see the last
- 1:17:57champion Yankees active to be out of the league, but we'll see
- 1:18:02if anything else happens that maybe make the Yankees get back
- 1:18:04to that point on the next Inside Baseball.
- 1:18:07Houdini, ladies and gentlemen, and I, I loved him as a player,
- 1:18:11I really did. And he was a good guy.
- 1:18:12Everything about him. When you look at former Yankees
- 1:18:16and guys that you really love to watch play, he was one at Brett
- 1:18:20Gardner was another one and I love to watch play.
- 1:18:23He was a all world Yankee. He he was a Yankee his whole
- 1:18:26career. Never went to play anywhere else
- 1:18:28at Robertson at the end of at the tail end of his career, he
- 1:18:31jumped ship. But he was a Yankee pretty much
- 1:18:33his whole career. At the top of his game he was a
- 1:18:36Yankee. And I, I think the Yankees tried
- 1:18:38to bring him back when they moved on from him.
- 1:18:42They tried to bring him back and they winded up bringing somebody
- 1:18:44else in. I think it was Chapman.
- 1:18:45Then they brought back in, but they went after David Robertson
- 1:18:49and David Robinson was still playing good baseball when he
- 1:18:52left the Yankees, but he started to get significant injuries and
- 1:18:56his body started to break down. And it wasn't the same pitcher,
- 1:18:58but great, great pitcher for the Yankees as we gave him the
- 1:19:01nickname or the Yankee fans gave him the nickname Houdini.
- 1:19:04I'd like to thank everybody that listens to our show, all the

- 1:20:05Nathan was the one that scooped him up.
- 1:20:07Yes, he was. And one of the better goal line
- 1:20:09defenders of all time, right? No, that was Gary Reasons.
- 1:20:13He'll be out in a. Few.
- 1:20:14That's right. That's right.
- 1:20:15Howard Cross. I'm trying to remember.
- 1:20:17Howard Cross. I don't.
- 1:20:18Remember the tight end shock? He's back up.
- 1:20:22Aha. Now I remember him because I I
- 1:20:25did. I was an executive producer for
- 1:20:27Imani Toomer. So Imani Toomer used to tell me
- 1:20:29a lot of different stories about those teams before the Super
- 1:20:33Bowl championship. He did all The Dirty work while
- 1:20:36shock he got to line up and go out for passes.
- 1:20:38Cross was a great blocker and he caught some passes too.
- 1:20:41He was a good, halfway decent athlete.
- 1:20:43All right, All right. Howard Cross will be joining us.
- 1:20:45So very interesting. Thank you again to all the fans.
- 1:20:49We'll be back on Thursday. Yes, Jabba will be here on
- 1:20:52Thursday. Better be Oh smack up silly.
- 1:20:54I got a chance to meet him on Saturday.
- 1:20:56So that was interesting both of us together.
- 1:20:59It's like I knew him for years. It really is and he he I got to
- 1:21:03give a shout out to Jabba. He was very kind to my friends
- 1:21:05very cool to my friends and try to pick on my size at which

- 1:21:14Then you can you can start kissing my ass my friend.
- 1:21:17I love you anyways. Goodnight, farewell.
