- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to a lily Pad production.
- 0:04Speaker 2: This is the Team Up Play Show podcast.
- 0:29Speaker 3: Previously in the City of Bones.
- 0:37Speaker 2: You are at a match with your older sister Leah
- 0:42Speaker 2: to watch your younger sister Lilah play shoot ball. Your
- 0:47Speaker 2: sister Lilah is on the shoot serpents. I don't even
- 0:51Speaker 2: tell them I play for the serpents. They would freak.
- 0:54Speaker 4: Okay, fine, you want to make a deal. Let's make
- 0:57Speaker 4: a deal. I still want to fight against bad people.
- 1:00Speaker 4: Is that okay? Is that allowed? I guess maybe it depends.
- 1:06Speaker 4: It seems risky, dangerous. No killing Jason. Okay, we can
- 1:12Speaker 4: we can deal with that. Okay, what else do you want?
- 1:14Speaker 4: If you're gonna take risks, you need to be calculated,
- 1:17Speaker 4: You need to think. Okay, no rushing headfirst into danger.
- 1:20Speaker 4: One more thing you can't.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Tell Page Well, this isn't how I hope that I
- 1:27Speaker 2: would see you again. Quantum.
- 1:30Speaker 4: Oh, either a big paper eyebrow of raises on paper
- 1:35Speaker 4: and Phantom's blank face.
- 1:36Speaker 5: Shut up.
- 1:37Speaker 4: I'm not saying anything.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Your eyebrows are saying loud things.
- 1:41Speaker 4: What it's like floating above my head.
- 1:44Speaker 6: Your eyebrows are so loud.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Right now, he looks over to your quantum, just if
- 1:48Speaker 2: you promise not to talk shop and not to bring
- 1:52Speaker 2: him what mister crinkles, No you phantom? Oh yeah, well
- 1:58Speaker 2: you don't ever want to do like a a dinner
- 2:00Speaker 2: or a lunch or I don't know you wear a mask.
- 2:04Speaker 6: Oh yeah, yeah we can.
- 2:07Speaker 1: We could do it a dinner or a lunch.
- 2:10Speaker 2: There's a knock on your door. There's a man here,
- 2:13Speaker 2: A day man is hello. I'm Gabe. Now I'm your footbridge.
- 2:21Speaker 2: So I'm like assigned to you. So anything you need
- 2:25Speaker 2: or want, you just let me know. As your head
- 2:28Speaker 2: is going back and forward looking for people around criminals,
- 2:35Speaker 2: she grabs it while it's facing her and she kisses you.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Because we are human, love is always undeserve. None of
- 3:02Speaker 2: us have really done enough to gain the unconditional love
- 3:07Speaker 2: of another. That is what gives love its magic. We
- 3:13Speaker 2: can't earn it. It has to be given to us.
- 3:18Speaker 2: This truth is especially profound in the kiss at page
- 3:22Speaker 2: right now plants upon your lips, Jason. In his eyes,
- 3:29Speaker 2: Jason Turner has only really missed cues, acted jealously, and
- 3:35Speaker 2: gifted page a gun.
- 3:38Speaker 4: Mm hmmm, it worked, It worked, guys.
- 3:42Speaker 2: It and yet page gives you here the gift of
- 3:47Speaker 2: her love.
- 3:49Speaker 7: To her.
- 3:50Speaker 2: You've been kind, you've been present, you've been understanding and patient,
- 3:56Speaker 2: you've been a friend. Yes, we cannot earn love, but
- 3:59Speaker 2: tru trust we must earn in this moment, does the
- 4:06Speaker 2: Phantom come out at all as you're being kissed or
- 4:10Speaker 2: what are you thinking?
- 4:12Speaker 4: Yeah? Absolutely, Like there's maybe a moment where this kiss
- 4:17Speaker 4: is just perfect, beautiful and the two of them connect,
- 4:22Speaker 4: And then Jason is ripped into the paper dimension and
- 4:29Speaker 4: can only look up at himself in this perfect moment
- 4:32Speaker 4: through the page as he is surrounded by Arthur Original
- 4:37Speaker 4: Flavor Paper Phantom and mister Crinkles.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Fun.
- 4:46Speaker 4: Oh hey, gang, Now it's actually not like a great
- 4:49Speaker 4: time for me. I'm kind of in the middle of something.
- 4:53Speaker 8: Oh, Jason, this is great, this is this is perfect.
- 4:58Speaker 7: Oh it's great. You hey, shut the fuck up, old man.
- 5:01Speaker 8: No, no, you shut up, you shut up.
- 5:03Speaker 4: I'm the one now, I'm in here. Now, Now what
- 5:06Speaker 4: is going on?
- 5:07Speaker 7: Guys?
- 5:08Speaker 4: Why you fucked up? You made a bargain with this
- 5:12Speaker 4: old idiot.
- 5:14Speaker 9: Yeah that you didn't tell her. We didn't tell her yet.
- 5:18Speaker 9: Oh so you're you're just as stupid as him. Then
- 5:21Speaker 9: what you think You think he can keep this a secret?
- 5:25Speaker 7: Now maybe I don't know. He's gonna try.
- 5:28Speaker 4: Yeah, I can just lie to her forever. It's gonna
- 5:31Speaker 4: be fine now, Oh it's okay. At least mister Crinkles
- 5:35Speaker 4: agrees with me.
- 5:37Speaker 8: The cat is a deeper being than you know.
- 5:40Speaker 4: Think about it. You're gonna spend the rest of your
- 5:43Speaker 4: life never taking your shirt off in front of this woman.
- 5:50Speaker 7: Jason, Jason, are you in there?
- 5:52Speaker 4: Hey? Jason? Uh, excuse me?
- 5:58Speaker 7: Excuse you?
- 5:59Speaker 4: What? Excuse me? Just go back into the paper room. Well,
- 6:06Speaker 4: what do I do? What the fuck do I do? Arthur?
- 6:07Speaker 4: What do I do? Out there? Good?
- 6:09Speaker 7: Out there?
- 6:09Speaker 8: And tell her, you you know, hang out?
- 6:12Speaker 4: No, no, don't tell her to hang out. You have
- 6:15Speaker 4: to push her away if you want to keep your powers.
- 6:17Speaker 8: Oh no, you need to stay close to her to
- 6:19Speaker 8: keep her safe.
- 6:21Speaker 4: What the fuck is your What is your game? Old man?
- 6:24Speaker 4: You want him to get close to her. You know
- 6:27Speaker 4: he's bad at social situations. You think he can continue
- 6:30Speaker 4: to lie to her while they touch mouths?
- 6:33Speaker 8: It's a dangerous city. She needs to be kept safe.
- 6:37Speaker 4: Sure, close is good, but this close, she's gonna find
- 6:42Speaker 4: out and he's gonna get fucked and guess what if
- 6:45Speaker 4: she finds out, not only does he lose his powers,
- 6:48Speaker 4: he loses her she hates me. KINI is a point there.
- 6:55Speaker 4: I don't like the words he's saying, but it is
- 6:59Speaker 4: maybe right.
- 7:04Speaker 8: It's up to you.
- 7:06Speaker 4: Oh yeah, thank you for your vote of confidence, mister crinkles.
- 7:11Speaker 7: Wow.
- 7:14Speaker 4: Look, I'm if you can't do it, kid, if you
- 7:17Speaker 4: can't push her away, I'll do it.
- 7:19Speaker 7: No, No, I don't.
- 7:22Speaker 8: No, No, you know you stay in here. You fucking
- 7:25Speaker 8: staying here?
- 7:26Speaker 4: Okay, yeah you will, you will too, all right.
- 7:29Speaker 8: Yeah, we'll both stay in here and then it'll be fine.
- 7:34Speaker 4: I feel like you're carrying over a lot of our
- 7:36Speaker 4: we have a lot of roommate baggage. Okay, okay, interesting.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Jason, Jason, are you hey, Hi? Are you okay? Is
- 7:48Speaker 2: there something wrong? I didn't sorry if that was too much,
- 7:51Speaker 2: too forward, that's okay, it doesn't seem okay, Jason, not,
- 7:57Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
- 7:59Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm just not. I don't know if I'm I
- 8:05Speaker 4: don't know if I'm ready for that. Oh, it's not you,
- 8:13Speaker 4: it's really truly, genuinely, it's me.
- 8:17Speaker 7: I'm just not.
- 8:18Speaker 4: That was the first time I've had a kiss.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Well we don't. I'm sorry. We can save kissing like
- 8:28Speaker 2: for down the line. We can just do, you know,
- 8:32Speaker 2: normal stuff and not kiss until I'm great.
- 8:35Speaker 4: I would love to do normal stuff. Yeah a few months. Yeah, okay,
- 8:40Speaker 4: a great rain huge rain check on.
- 8:43Speaker 2: This love this rain check on the kissing.
- 8:46Speaker 4: But we'll you will circle back to it.
- 8:50Speaker 2: Yeah, but let's go on a date. I wanted to
- 8:54Speaker 2: take you to my work. I wanted to show you.
- 8:58Speaker 4: Yeah, I can can, I can go to can go
- 9:02Speaker 4: on thing.
- 9:03Speaker 2: But yeah, of course, just tread carefully.
- 9:08Speaker 4: Fuck you guy, Fuck you guy. Go back to your portal.
- 9:12Speaker 8: Oh yeah, you go back to whatever the fun?
- 9:15Speaker 7: Where do you even live? You live in that paper house?
- 9:18Speaker 8: Yeah it's beautiful.
- 9:20Speaker 4: Yeah, thank you. Uh yeah, I'd love to take a
- 9:29Speaker 4: tour of your work and and go on maybe like
- 9:32Speaker 4: a uh like a hang out as friends.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Wait out. I'm confused. I thought kissing was the thing.
- 9:40Speaker 7: You wanted to wait on.
- 9:41Speaker 2: You want to wait on like this?
- 9:45Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm sorry, I just have had a lot of
- 9:52Speaker 4: stuff going on, and I'm not I don't want to
- 9:56Speaker 4: hurt you, but maybe no it was not a good time.
- 10:04Speaker 2: All right, fine? Sorry, Sorry for being forward. Listen, show
- 10:15Speaker 2: up though at the station on Thursday, because I told
- 10:21Speaker 2: somebody you were. You know, they have a bad set
- 10:24Speaker 2: aside for you and stuff. It'd be weird if you
- 10:26Speaker 2: didn't show up, and I told him my boyfriend was coming.
- 10:30Speaker 2: But I guess that's on me. I thought I was
- 10:38Speaker 2: reading the signals okay, but I wasn't.
- 10:42Speaker 4: I'm sorry.
- 10:44Speaker 2: We moved to Unmasked with Jimmy.
- 10:50Speaker 4: Everyone else is turned on as me.
- 10:56Speaker 6: Oh yeah, the paper Phantom of the Arthur.
- 10:58Speaker 4: Were the chemistry in there for sure?
- 11:04Speaker 7: Jimi?
- 11:04Speaker 2: Or you wanted to hang out with your parents, I
- 11:07Speaker 2: did I need to. When you let your parents know
- 11:09Speaker 2: that you want to hang out, they invite you to
- 11:12Speaker 2: go see your sister's shoot ball game, your sister Lilah.
- 11:17Speaker 2: They know, no, they didn't know before. So you find
- 11:21Speaker 2: them in the stands.
- 11:24Speaker 7: Love dad, Hey, it's me.
- 11:28Speaker 2: Your mom waves for you to come sit over. You
- 11:30Speaker 2: sit right in between them. Your dad is like, he's
- 11:35Speaker 2: got like shoot he got all the like shoot ball.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Your dad has full has As soon as they learned
- 11:43Speaker 2: that your sister played for the shooters, your dad went
- 11:48Speaker 2: full on like sports dad. He bought all the gear.
- 11:52Speaker 2: He has a giant paper foam. It's just like a fist,
- 11:57Speaker 2: and on top of the fist is like a tube.
- 11:59Speaker 2: Like you're just like, your dad's very excited. You sit
- 12:05Speaker 2: down and your mom looks stern and a little worried,
- 12:09Speaker 2: and she says, Jamir, your sister told us that she
- 12:15Speaker 2: is the star of the shooters team, and I we
- 12:20Speaker 2: are we are worried about it. Your Dad's like, well,
- 12:24Speaker 2: that's right, we're worried about it.
- 12:29Speaker 10: Yeah. I I did know about this full disclosure. But
- 12:35Speaker 10: you know, sibling loyalty. You guys get it right.
- 12:42Speaker 2: Your Dad's like, oh, yeah, we get it. Je's like,
- 12:46Speaker 2: I understand, Jamir, but you should have told us.
- 12:49Speaker 7: It was her thing to tell.
- 12:52Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it was her thing to tell.
- 12:54Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:54Speaker 2: It wasn't Jamir's father or Laylis's father. It was her
- 12:58Speaker 2: thing to let us know about. Okay, Jamir, But we
- 13:03Speaker 2: figured we'd come and watch a game. See what this
- 13:06Speaker 2: is all about. Apparently she's really good.
- 13:09Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean, I mean, you know, she's got improve
- 13:13Speaker 10: its to making her game.
- 13:14Speaker 4: Uh, you know, maybe I should give her some pointers.
- 13:16Speaker 2: But what kind of point is Jamir? I'm trying to
- 13:19Speaker 2: get into the rules, Like what you know I think
- 13:22Speaker 2: she's not using the gravity pads to her best advantage.
- 13:28Speaker 2: I think I think she's sometimes afraid of context. Oh yeah, interesting,
- 13:34Speaker 2: your mom's a contact.
- 13:37Speaker 10: It's a contact sport, you know, like they're wearing that
- 13:40Speaker 10: gear for a reason.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Oh my goodness, shoot dogs.
- 13:43Speaker 4: Get to shoot dogs.
- 13:45Speaker 2: You guys are here early enough this time for the
- 13:50Speaker 2: shooter anthem.
- 13:51Speaker 7: Wow.
- 13:52Speaker 2: The other teams do not get an anthem because they're
- 13:57Speaker 2: all in the shoot. It's all happens in the shoot.
- 14:01Speaker 2: But the shooters have their own anthem.
- 14:03Speaker 7: Were stands up?
- 14:04Speaker 2: Yeah, your dad and your mom both stand up with you.
- 14:07Speaker 2: All the shooters stand up, even the other team, like
- 14:10Speaker 2: the the the crowd from the other side, like they
- 14:14Speaker 2: stand up respectfully because they're in the shoe.
- 14:16Speaker 7: They know where they are.
- 14:19Speaker 11: Shoulders of the spaceless track.
- 14:26Speaker 12: They saw little horredcence.
- 14:32Speaker 2: Who needs the stars?
- 14:35Speaker 4: Who needs the street?
- 14:40Speaker 2: It's the shoe we called the beast.
- 14:47Speaker 4: Oh tunnel.
- 14:51Speaker 3: Tunnel far and wide, well lit.
- 14:57Speaker 11: Well with shooters your side, Oh time.
- 15:07Speaker 4: Of horrid wide.
- 15:10Speaker 11: Fight, Well it is well wish well your side.
- 15:27Speaker 4: Get you shoot dogs.
- 15:33Speaker 2: There's that last line in that third verse where everyone
- 15:38Speaker 2: says who needs the stars? Who needs the streets. It's
- 15:42Speaker 2: the shoot we call the best. Most of this crowd says,
- 15:46Speaker 2: fuck the stars and fuck the streets. It's the shoot
- 15:50Speaker 2: we call the best. It's very riled up. You look
- 15:53Speaker 2: over and as you all sit back down, your dad
- 15:57Speaker 2: wipes a couple tears away with big phone.
- 16:01Speaker 10: Man also got pretty emotional. I haven't sung it in
- 16:06Speaker 10: a minute, and just with everything going on, was in
- 16:10Speaker 10: his fields.
- 16:11Speaker 4: There.
- 16:12Speaker 2: Your sister comes out and she, as always, puts on
- 16:16Speaker 2: a show. She's one of the fastest rollerbladers in the shoot.
- 16:21Speaker 2: She's whipping around trying to use some of your tips,
- 16:24Speaker 2: using the grab pads more to her advantage. But between play,
- 16:29Speaker 2: what do you want to go over with your parents?
- 16:33Speaker 10: I just I'm just gonna say, like, hey, guys, I'm sorry.
- 16:36Speaker 10: I haven't been around a tud. Things have been a
- 16:39Speaker 10: little crazy with work and life.
- 16:43Speaker 7: It's just renuts. So sorry about that, Jamir.
- 16:49Speaker 2: Your mom says, when I was your age, honey, I
- 16:54Speaker 2: wasn't at home much either. I think I I think
- 17:00Speaker 2: I had left. I think I was working too much
- 17:03Speaker 2: in the city. So the fact that you come around
- 17:06Speaker 2: at all means means a lot to us.
- 17:09Speaker 7: Well, thanks for being so cool. About it all.
- 17:13Speaker 10: I mean, yeah, ever since Taylor died, things are just
- 17:20Speaker 10: real crazy.
- 17:21Speaker 2: Well yeah, yeah, your mom gasps as your sister dodges
- 17:28Speaker 2: a big hit from the other team. H scary. Yeah, Jimmy,
- 17:33Speaker 2: we wanted to talk to you about that. Next time
- 17:35Speaker 2: we saw you, your dad pauses after shoving a hot
- 17:40Speaker 2: dog in his mouth and brings his shoot fist down. Yeah, Jimi,
- 17:48Speaker 2: we saw the news, Bud. We saw the news. We
- 17:51Speaker 2: saw that it wasn't what they said. It was initially
- 17:56Speaker 2: that those superheroes and that one police officer showed. They
- 18:00Speaker 2: played the recording that you were there. We heard your voice.
- 18:06Speaker 10: I'm sorry I didn't have to. I'm sorry I didn't
- 18:10Speaker 10: tell you sooner. I just didn't want them to hurt you. Guys.
- 18:14Speaker 10: It's just it's just so messed up.
- 18:18Speaker 2: It's your mom's turn to cry, and she looks over
- 18:21Speaker 2: at you, puts two arms around you and brings you
- 18:24Speaker 2: in and just cries on top of your head for
- 18:28Speaker 2: a split second as long as you let her, and
- 18:30Speaker 2: she just says, Jimmy, there's nobody should be put in
- 18:37Speaker 2: that situation. I don't know what I would have done,
- 18:42Speaker 2: but it wouldn't have been as brave as what you did.
- 18:48Speaker 7: I don't believe that for a second.
- 18:52Speaker 2: Well, hopefully we'll never have to know. Huh, hopefully your
- 18:59Speaker 2: dad shake some some tears out of his own eyes,
- 19:02Speaker 2: just kind of shakes it off this time and looks
- 19:04Speaker 2: back at the game. So jamir, when they are they
- 19:09Speaker 2: allowed to grab the ball like that? I thought that
- 19:12Speaker 2: was not allowed?
- 19:13Speaker 7: Oh yeah, oh yeah they're allowed.
- 19:17Speaker 4: Yep.
- 19:17Speaker 2: Well, but like when when can't because normally they have
- 19:20Speaker 2: to use those poles as like the really long ones.
- 19:24Speaker 10: You know, as long as it's not a carry, you
- 19:26Speaker 10: can you're allowed to use your hands.
- 19:29Speaker 7: You just got carries? Does that make sense?
- 19:32Speaker 8: Cool?
- 19:33Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 19:34Speaker 4: Shooters, use another shoot dog? You want a third shoot dog?
- 19:41Speaker 2: You've been hanging out right here, man.
- 19:44Speaker 4: It's you guys been crying a lot over here. You
- 19:46Speaker 4: guys need another shoot dogy, this one's on the house.
- 19:50Speaker 6: Hey, I got shoot fruit.
- 19:51Speaker 1: That's always on the house.
- 19:52Speaker 7: Shoot Foo fruit.
- 19:54Speaker 2: The whole seession shoot starts.
- 19:58Speaker 7: To delicious big fa to shoot for.
- 20:03Speaker 4: I imagine shoot dougs are like a pig in a
- 20:05Speaker 4: blanket situation.
- 20:06Speaker 2: That's kind of what I.
- 20:07Speaker 8: Was thinking of.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Corn dog without a stick.
- 20:11Speaker 7: Yeah and open on the ends.
- 20:14Speaker 2: Yes, Jamir, you guys catch Lila as she comes out
- 20:20Speaker 2: of the locker room, so sweaty with her big bag
- 20:24Speaker 2: of gear and her roller blades.
- 20:25Speaker 7: On her other should.
- 20:28Speaker 2: Hey, Jamir, she runs up to you, gives you a
- 20:31Speaker 2: huge hug. She steps back kind of grabs your face. Jamir,
- 20:36Speaker 2: I saw the news. I'm so sorry. Hey, I'm okay,
- 20:41Speaker 2: I'm here, and you kicked ass today.
- 20:44Speaker 7: All right, thanks?
- 20:45Speaker 2: Thanks, I love.
- 20:46Speaker 7: You, I love you.
- 20:48Speaker 8: I love you, brother.
- 20:49Speaker 2: I'm I'm so sorry. We can move on. It was
- 20:53Speaker 2: a good night you kicked.
- 20:55Speaker 7: I'm proud of you.
- 20:58Speaker 2: Two goals almost got the hat trick their dad.
- 21:01Speaker 7: Your dad takes.
- 21:02Speaker 2: Off his shooter hat and tries to do that thing
- 21:04Speaker 2: where he rolls it down his arms to the other arm,
- 21:08Speaker 2: but it drops immediately.
- 21:09Speaker 4: Is hat trick?
- 21:10Speaker 7: Who almost?
- 21:13Speaker 2: Almost? Not quite, sweetie, but you'll get one next time. Hey,
- 21:17Speaker 2: we loved coming. Thank you for telling me about this.
- 21:20Speaker 2: This was one of the best, most proudest nights of
- 21:24Speaker 2: my life as a father. Yeah, this is awesome. I mean, Jimmy,
- 21:30Speaker 2: you're amazing. You do all kinds of cool stuff, but
- 21:34Speaker 2: this this is freaking cool. You were never you know,
- 21:39Speaker 2: I mean, come on, JIMMYR.
- 21:42Speaker 7: I mean okay, okay, no, no, no, no, it's good
- 21:45Speaker 7: to know. You know we're learning.
- 21:47Speaker 10: We're all learning tonight, right, just like you're learning how
- 21:50Speaker 10: to lead into that contact.
- 21:51Speaker 7: Right, that's right.
- 21:53Speaker 2: Your mom says, we are equally proud of all of
- 21:57Speaker 2: our children.
- 21:57Speaker 7: You have the lies.
- 21:59Speaker 12: Of course, no, no, no, of course we are start.
- 22:02Speaker 12: What was this saying?
- 22:03Speaker 2: I was just saying it was a good night, big night,
- 22:06Speaker 2: exciting night.
- 22:07Speaker 7: Your dad.
- 22:08Speaker 6: Wait, Jamiir's dad and his brother are.
- 22:10Speaker 3: Jason's best friend, wore.
- 22:18Speaker 2: Amazing anything else you want to do with your family.
- 22:21Speaker 2: As the three of you walk home, I will bring
- 22:24Speaker 2: up the election as we walk home.
- 22:26Speaker 10: Like, hmmm, so I know you guys are going to
- 22:30Speaker 10: be voting for the vote, but what's the word on
- 22:34Speaker 10: on the shoot? How are people feeling about this thing?
- 22:37Speaker 10: With all the stuff the superheroes are exposing, Like the
- 22:42Speaker 10: corruption is so crazy? Do you guys think this election
- 22:46Speaker 10: is going to go forward to the people believe in
- 22:50Speaker 10: eddy semblance of the system anymore?
- 22:53Speaker 2: You're Your mom takes a deep breath. Jamiir, it's tough.
- 22:59Speaker 2: The uh. I think people are of two minds, like
- 23:03Speaker 2: one It would be cool to have a shooter in office.
- 23:07Speaker 2: Your dad's it m M through like some popcorn. Yeah,
- 23:13Speaker 2: but other people are worried about what it will do
- 23:16Speaker 2: to the lifestyle of the shoot like, is it bringing
- 23:19Speaker 2: us into the city in a way that we don't
- 23:22Speaker 2: want to be brought in. We've got it, she says
- 23:27Speaker 2: a little bit. She says a little reluctantly. We've got
- 23:31Speaker 2: life pretty good right now. The cores payments have gone
- 23:35Speaker 2: way down, so we've got more dough for the home.
- 23:39Speaker 7: Glad to hear that.
- 23:40Speaker 2: And they're still supplying a lot of amazing fruits and vegetables.
- 23:46Speaker 1: Does somebody say, shoot fruit?
- 23:48Speaker 2: These vendors are following us home. Watch me juggle, Jason,
- 23:53Speaker 2: What did you tell them? I just told them where
- 23:55Speaker 2: we live and if they ever had extras, they could
- 23:58Speaker 2: drop them off us.
- 24:00Speaker 4: Your name is Jason too, I'm I'm also with Jason.
- 24:03Speaker 4: I'm also that's Jason.
- 24:08Speaker 7: Both of you are named.
- 24:09Speaker 6: Jason, Jason the shoot fruit guy.
- 24:12Speaker 4: Jason, the shoot dog guy.
- 24:15Speaker 6: Look, we could pass our stuff while we juggle.
- 24:20Speaker 7: Lia looks at looks at you. Guys.
- 24:23Speaker 2: I'm number twenty four on the Shooters. Both of you
- 24:25Speaker 2: please go home and don't come to our house.
- 24:29Speaker 6: Suit yourself, no promise to yourself.
- 24:31Speaker 4: Oh got him? Jason's out.
- 24:34Speaker 7: Oh did you think you got us?
- 24:36Speaker 4: Got him?
- 24:37Speaker 7: That's got for you?
- 24:39Speaker 2: Hi fa Yeah, your dad says no. I'm excited.
- 24:45Speaker 4: You know.
- 24:45Speaker 2: I think that it can only be good for the shoot,
- 24:48Speaker 2: more resources, more connectivity to the city outside, as long
- 24:52Speaker 2: as they don't make us leave, you know, as long
- 24:54Speaker 2: as we can stay. Yeah, Lilah shrugs. I definitely know
- 24:59Speaker 2: we need an mayor.
- 25:01Speaker 7: Good.
- 25:01Speaker 2: Well, I don't know who's the right one.
- 25:03Speaker 4: I'm not.
- 25:04Speaker 2: I'm not like you're you're you have a good mind
- 25:07Speaker 2: for politics.
- 25:08Speaker 10: I don't know about that, but I try to care
- 25:13Speaker 10: keep up with what's going on.
- 25:15Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I mean, And I don't. I don't
- 25:18Speaker 2: get into it as much. I just doing my job,
- 25:20Speaker 2: playing my game.
- 25:21Speaker 10: And you're young, you got you got time for that
- 25:25Speaker 10: stuff later. But just make sure you and your friends
- 25:28Speaker 10: are freaking voted, right.
- 25:29Speaker 2: Oh yeah, we're voting, for sure, we're voting to vote
- 25:32Speaker 2: at least. And then we're talking. We talk about a
- 25:35Speaker 2: little bit, like.
- 25:36Speaker 7: Who do we want.
- 25:36Speaker 2: Some of the girls I hang out with think that
- 25:38Speaker 2: Henry's pretty cute and that's dumb. That's dumb as hell.
- 25:45Speaker 4: Yeah, sorry, no, yeah, sorry? Do you guys still want
- 25:49Speaker 4: us to leave?
- 25:50Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 25:51Speaker 4: Go on, get the shoot itself says guys.
- 25:55Speaker 7: We're gone like five minutes.
- 25:56Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, you're echoing and to shoot you.
- 26:01Speaker 2: He's old and Ngamier has a nice time catching up
- 26:04Speaker 2: with his parents and little sister Quanta. Yes, Ronnie, you
- 26:10Speaker 2: wanted to hang out with your family.
- 26:12Speaker 3: Yes, Uh, I think I have changed my mind though,
- 26:17Speaker 3: so I think maybe quantas with Jillian.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Ronnie's with Jillian.
- 26:22Speaker 13: Getting ready to maybe go to family dinner at their
- 26:25Speaker 13: apartment and changing out of her Quanta outfit or Quanta
- 26:30Speaker 13: gear into like some jeans and a shirt kind of stops.
- 26:37Speaker 2: What you have that face? You're not You're not going
- 26:40Speaker 2: back out, are you?
- 26:41Speaker 1: Yeah? I think I will, but.
- 26:43Speaker 3: But yeah what Uh, let's not pass the Bechdel test
- 26:49Speaker 3: again to see a boy.
- 26:51Speaker 2: Maybe we've passed the bachel test so many times already.
- 26:55Speaker 7: You don't have to keep passing.
- 26:58Speaker 4: I think you've done.
- 26:59Speaker 7: We've done so we had.
- 27:02Speaker 3: To keep passing it, and I'm not today, I'm not
- 27:05Speaker 3: passing it.
- 27:05Speaker 2: That's fine. We can talk about boy.
- 27:08Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 27:09Speaker 6: Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah.
- 27:11Speaker 2: Oh what wait, what gives spill?
- 27:15Speaker 3: There's there's a fireman. Oh and he only knows me
- 27:20Speaker 3: as Quanta though.
- 27:22Speaker 2: Oh I know interesting, I know. So what are you
- 27:26Speaker 2: gonna do?
- 27:27Speaker 4: Like?
- 27:27Speaker 2: How could that even work?
- 27:28Speaker 7: Would you like?
- 27:29Speaker 2: Would you go on a date as Quanta? That seems
- 27:31Speaker 2: pretty impersonal? What are you supposed to talk about when
- 27:34Speaker 2: all he can know is Quanti can't really know the
- 27:35Speaker 2: real you? How is this gonna work?
- 27:37Speaker 1: Yeah? Yep, that's what my brain is saying.
- 27:40Speaker 2: Okay, good, I just like to be sometimes what your
- 27:43Speaker 2: brain is saying out loud.
- 27:44Speaker 1: I really appreciate that about you, Jill.
- 27:46Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 27:47Speaker 2: Am I just gonna go to your family dinner by myself?
- 27:52Speaker 3: I mean, if you wanted to. I think I think
- 27:55Speaker 3: moms would love to see you.
- 27:56Speaker 1: But I think I'll go.
- 27:59Speaker 3: You know what, I'll go with you there. Yeah, I'll
- 28:03Speaker 3: call him from here. And because you know Mommy, she
- 28:05Speaker 3: makes real good, real good picnic baskets.
- 28:08Speaker 7: That's true.
- 28:08Speaker 3: Maybe she could whip something up for me to take
- 28:13Speaker 3: and I'll just go see if he's around.
- 28:16Speaker 2: Keep you do whatever you want to do.
- 28:19Speaker 3: That's crazy, right, Just like I mean, I have already
- 28:22Speaker 3: shown up at his apartment.
- 28:24Speaker 2: He knows you know where he is. Did you did
- 28:27Speaker 2: you set up a date before?
- 28:29Speaker 3: No?
- 28:30Speaker 2: Well no, I mean like, did did he did? Does
- 28:33Speaker 2: he want that?
- 28:34Speaker 4: Did you?
- 28:34Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 28:35Speaker 12: Yeah?
- 28:35Speaker 14: Yeah?
- 28:35Speaker 6: Yeah yeah.
- 28:35Speaker 3: He was like, I want to hang out with you,
- 28:38Speaker 3: but we can't talk shop.
- 28:39Speaker 1: Oh shit.
- 28:41Speaker 2: Oh yeah, good luck now, good luck. Yeah, you're gonna
- 28:45Speaker 2: have to talk about something. You're gonna have to give
- 28:48Speaker 2: a little bit of your real self somehow.
- 28:50Speaker 1: Ah fun, fun fun.
- 28:51Speaker 2: But maybe he meant you don't have to talk shop
- 28:53Speaker 2: for him, but you could talk shop for you by shop.
- 28:56Speaker 2: I'm assuming he meant your superhero life.
- 28:58Speaker 1: He did he?
- 29:00Speaker 4: Uh he's got powers too.
- 29:05Speaker 6: Oh I said it?
- 29:05Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, I said it.
- 29:06Speaker 6: I shared his secret. Oh that's shitty of me.
- 29:09Speaker 1: Is really this is really bad.
- 29:11Speaker 7: It's good.
- 29:11Speaker 2: I like it.
- 29:12Speaker 7: Go you should? You should go?
- 29:14Speaker 2: Yeah, get a picnic and I'll go to dinner and
- 29:17Speaker 2: I'll be sarrogate Ronnie. I really need to check on
- 29:22Speaker 2: your dad, but but.
- 29:25Speaker 4: You should go.
- 29:26Speaker 6: Yeah, let me know how they're doing.
- 29:28Speaker 3: And of course, I mean I'll go with you there,
- 29:31Speaker 3: so I'll call him from here.
- 29:33Speaker 1: Because do you have a cube. I don't have a cube.
- 29:34Speaker 1: Do you have a cube?
- 29:35Speaker 2: I have a cube?
- 29:36Speaker 3: Cube?
- 29:37Speaker 6: Yeah, thank you.
- 29:38Speaker 2: You use Jillian's cube to call your mom Mama. She Hey, sweetie, I'm.
- 29:46Speaker 3: Mommy, I'm gonna I'm I'm coming with Jillian tonight.
- 29:50Speaker 2: But wonderful I am.
- 29:52Speaker 1: I'm wondering if I could not stay? What I know?
- 29:59Speaker 1: I think I want to go, Oh, meet somebody?
- 30:01Speaker 2: Oh I think that your mom and your dad?
- 30:07Speaker 8: What'd see that as.
- 30:07Speaker 2: An okay, reason not to come to family dinner?
- 30:09Speaker 1: Okay? What about my mommy?
- 30:11Speaker 3: Me?
- 30:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I always miss you and I will never not
- 30:15Speaker 2: miss you.
- 30:16Speaker 1: Oh sucks.
- 30:18Speaker 2: But if you can find someone who loves you and
- 30:21Speaker 2: you can have a nice relationship, then it's worth it
- 30:24Speaker 2: every now and again.
- 30:25Speaker 3: Well, it's just the first date, mommy, okay.
- 30:30Speaker 2: Well, first dates lead to second dates lead to third
- 30:34Speaker 2: You can't go anywhere without a first date.
- 30:37Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, you're right, you're.
- 30:39Speaker 2: Right, you're right. So you need me to make you
- 30:41Speaker 2: a picnic?
- 30:42Speaker 1: Yes, you read my mind. A lot of that going around.
- 30:45Speaker 2: I'll get it done.
- 30:46Speaker 6: Thank you, I'll see you soon.
- 30:47Speaker 2: You go home, You check in on your family. Your
- 30:51Speaker 2: dad is there still living with your mom's Dirk is there?
- 30:56Speaker 7: Oh?
- 30:57Speaker 2: Because he just kind of comes to family dinner now, Ronnie.
- 31:00Speaker 6: Hello, Hi, Dirk, good evening.
- 31:03Speaker 2: Good evening, have are you're not staying that's all right, Jillian,
- 31:09Speaker 2: and I will be your surrogate. Thank you, And you
- 31:13Speaker 2: head out to Joshua's with a picnic basket in toe.
- 31:16Speaker 3: Yes, electrifying my clothes back on.
- 31:27Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 31:28Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like, you know, like a magnet. A magnet
- 31:30Speaker 3: is very squishy. Yeah, it's a fabric magnet. And head
- 31:39Speaker 3: to Joshua's apartment into the window that I tapped on
- 31:43Speaker 3: before with Jason.
- 31:44Speaker 2: You come there like around the evening time, and he's
- 31:49Speaker 2: in there.
- 31:51Speaker 1: Tap tap tap.
- 31:53Speaker 2: He looks surprised, jolts up and comes to the window. Hi, Hey,
- 32:02Speaker 2: to what do I owe the honor?
- 32:06Speaker 1: I hold up a basket dinner.
- 32:13Speaker 2: He smiles. That's awesome.
- 32:16Speaker 7: I love it.
- 32:18Speaker 2: Can you get me up to my rooftop? Nobody ever
- 32:20Speaker 2: goes up there? Yeah, of course, how do you do?
- 32:23Speaker 3: So? I grab him around the waist as he allows,
- 32:27Speaker 3: and oh yeah, yeah, yeah, he allows enthusiastic consent, and
- 32:34Speaker 3: I lightning up.
- 32:36Speaker 6: To the top of the fire escape.
- 32:38Speaker 2: You zip up to the top of the fire escape
- 32:40Speaker 2: and you start having a nice picnic on the top
- 32:43Speaker 2: of Joshua's apartment building.
- 32:45Speaker 7: Cute.
- 32:58Speaker 1: Yeah. So I spread out the blanket.
- 33:01Speaker 14: I've got my Quanta Ninja outfit on, spread it out,
- 33:07Speaker 14: pull out everything that mommy she packed, and then I
- 33:09Speaker 14: see a little note and a condum like mommy.
- 33:17Speaker 6: Were day.
- 33:20Speaker 2: So I know, I said, I didn't really want to
- 33:24Speaker 2: talk shop, but I'm like, just so curious about your
- 33:30Speaker 2: electricity stuff. How does it work? You guys begin to eat,
- 33:36Speaker 2: and he is so impressed with the meal. It's like, Wow,
- 33:41Speaker 2: this is amazing. It's like a full picnic roast.
- 33:45Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 33:46Speaker 3: Yeah, it's amazing that someone like me has enough time
- 33:48Speaker 3: of the day.
- 33:51Speaker 7: You made this.
- 33:52Speaker 2: No I didn't, Okay, Okay, well I wouldn't. I guess
- 34:01Speaker 2: I would have been surprised just because, like you said,
- 34:03Speaker 2: not much time.
- 34:04Speaker 1: Yeah, I haven't tried cooking with electricity. Maybe maybe there's
- 34:07Speaker 1: something there.
- 34:10Speaker 4: I get.
- 34:11Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 34:11Speaker 2: Yeah, so your electricity, how do you do it?
- 34:14Speaker 5: Like?
- 34:14Speaker 2: Where does it come from?
- 34:15Speaker 3: Yeah? Yeah, I kind of like pull my hood more
- 34:18Speaker 3: over my eyes, so I can like pull my cowl
- 34:20Speaker 3: down but still kind of keep my face covered while
- 34:22Speaker 3: while I'm eating.
- 34:25Speaker 1: I honestly, I don't know too much.
- 34:28Speaker 3: I just know that my like particular ally like knock
- 34:33Speaker 3: on my double boy with my opposite fist is super
- 34:38Speaker 3: conductive somehow.
- 34:40Speaker 7: Huh?
- 34:41Speaker 2: The day people so cool? Man, there's so little we know.
- 34:48Speaker 2: How did you learn about your alloy.
- 34:52Speaker 1: From sky mommy?
- 34:54Speaker 7: Sky mommy?
- 34:55Speaker 8: Right?
- 34:55Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 34:56Speaker 7: Yes?
- 34:57Speaker 2: Who is my sky Mommy? Why hasn't she come talk
- 35:01Speaker 2: to me? I'm sorry, I didn't really want to get
- 35:04Speaker 2: into all that. Uh sorry, I'm probably not. I'm probably
- 35:10Speaker 2: not like you know, like if you're the first, I
- 35:14Speaker 2: don't know why I would be the next, Like choice,
- 35:18Speaker 2: like that doesn't make a ton of sense to me.
- 35:24Speaker 1: What are you talking about? You're you're already a hero.
- 35:31Speaker 4: You know?
- 35:31Speaker 2: When I when I put on my mask, you kind
- 35:35Speaker 2: of mime's putting on a helmet. I don't really want
- 35:39Speaker 2: to do it. I'm pretty scared, so.
- 35:47Speaker 7: I don't know. I don't know.
- 35:49Speaker 2: But why why do you wear the mask? Why not
- 35:51Speaker 2: show yourself? Not to me, I'm just to the people,
- 35:56Speaker 2: like you have your reasons. Yeah, I'm just curious.
- 35:59Speaker 3: I I mean, you're scared putting yours on. I'm I'm
- 36:05Speaker 3: kind of scared to take mine off, as I'm not
- 36:12Speaker 3: who I am before this outside of this is I'm
- 36:16Speaker 3: not a hero. I was I was kind of the
- 36:20Speaker 3: opposite for a long time. So this is a better
- 36:26Speaker 3: face for this city. It's a face that this city deserves.
- 36:31Speaker 3: The other one wasn't.
- 36:34Speaker 2: Wow, what changed?
- 36:38Speaker 1: My choice? Has got up with me and I saw
- 36:42Speaker 1: how much I had hurt people.
- 36:45Speaker 3: So if you're not sure why sky Mommy chose you second,
- 36:49Speaker 3: I have no fucking idea why she chose me first.
- 36:52Speaker 2: Maybe she doesn't choose. If it's a sky immmy, rain
- 36:56Speaker 2: doesn't choose where to fall, you know, Lightning doesn't choose
- 36:59Speaker 2: where to strike.
- 37:00Speaker 1: Mind us, Papa Grape.
- 37:05Speaker 2: He looks, fly, he looks.
- 37:07Speaker 7: He goes Flash with.
- 37:10Speaker 4: Split screen with Jason lying face down in a warehouse,
- 37:13Speaker 4: just weeping. Full paper, just got.
- 37:17Speaker 6: Back wedding paper.
- 37:25Speaker 2: As you guys talk and try to get past these
- 37:29Speaker 2: masks and find the reel in each other.
- 37:33Speaker 7: You style that? Sorry? Oh no, I just cop that.
- 37:38Speaker 2: Deep sh You hear the door. There is a door
- 37:43Speaker 2: up here onto the roof. Slam open, Hi.
- 37:49Speaker 12: Hey, you piece of ship kid, We're out of fucking beer.
- 37:54Speaker 2: You look back and you see this man in oath
- 37:59Speaker 2: and like tank top and cargo shorts.
- 38:04Speaker 7: The uniform of an asshole.
- 38:09Speaker 3: Asshole alert you want to hear the door slam.
- 38:12Speaker 1: I stand up quickly and turn towards the sound.
- 38:15Speaker 2: He doesn't look at you. He looks at Joshua points
- 38:18Speaker 2: his finger.
- 38:19Speaker 4: At a beer.
- 38:20Speaker 12: Fuck fucked up.
- 38:22Speaker 7: I don't like running.
- 38:23Speaker 4: Out of beer.
- 38:23Speaker 12: You know, I work nights.
- 38:25Speaker 7: I can't go to the store during the day.
- 38:29Speaker 2: Joshua stands up as well, with you. Sorry, dad, Sorry,
- 38:34Speaker 2: I forgot. Yeah, well you forget, and it's a bad
- 38:39Speaker 2: day for me.
- 38:40Speaker 12: Beers how I go to sleep.
- 38:42Speaker 7: In the day.
- 38:44Speaker 10: Sorry, you know what, I've been out hitting on this guy?
- 38:54Speaker 7: Wait?
- 38:55Speaker 4: This guy? Is this cool character?
- 38:59Speaker 7: Is this guy fucking dope?
- 39:01Speaker 6: Is his boat? They?
- 39:04Speaker 4: Is about whoa.
- 39:07Speaker 7: Character? At last?
- 39:16Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 39:16Speaker 4: Of course yeah.
- 39:20Speaker 2: I'm not gonna repeat that line. It's just gonna make
- 39:22Speaker 2: us laugh again. He then looks at you. He looks tired.
- 39:28Speaker 2: His eyes are bloodshot.
- 39:30Speaker 5: You.
- 39:31Speaker 2: I saw you on the news making a real stink
- 39:35Speaker 2: of things, huh messing stuff up for just a little
- 39:39Speaker 2: old guy like me.
- 39:41Speaker 7: He's a victim.
- 39:45Speaker 2: Joshua steps forward, a little dad, Dad, don't get don't
- 39:50Speaker 2: get political. Let's not, let's not. He works dispatch for
- 39:55Speaker 2: the police, and it's been crazy since all the stuff
- 39:59Speaker 2: that happened okay, he says.
- 40:02Speaker 12: What the fuck did you're lazy ass dude to get
- 40:05Speaker 12: on a date with her?
- 40:06Speaker 2: Huh, Dad, just can you drop it. I don't want
- 40:09Speaker 2: to have this talk right now. We could talk later.
- 40:11Speaker 12: We could talk if you get me beer.
- 40:13Speaker 2: Beer's how I talk in the day.
- 40:18Speaker 3: Sir, you are interrupting a nice evening that I'm having
- 40:22Speaker 3: with your son.
- 40:23Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yeah, papa's another grape.
- 40:30Speaker 2: I don't know what you're doing with him anyway. He
- 40:32Speaker 2: lows you one, and hey, what the fuck happened to
- 40:35Speaker 2: your room, you slob? I looked for you there first
- 40:38Speaker 2: and clean up you guys fucking like crazy in there
- 40:41Speaker 2: or some shit.
- 40:42Speaker 1: If we were, it's none of your business.
- 40:44Speaker 2: At this point, Joshua gets in between you.
- 40:47Speaker 7: It looks at you.
- 40:48Speaker 2: I'm so sorry, Dad, go downstairs. I'll talk to you later.
- 40:52Speaker 2: I'll grab beer as soon as we're done.
- 40:54Speaker 12: Yeah, we'll finish up quick then, boy and.
- 40:57Speaker 2: The dad trundles downstairs. God, I'm so sorry. I come
- 41:02Speaker 2: up here to get away from him, but he found
- 41:04Speaker 2: that out like a few weeks ago. He's a problem,
- 41:09Speaker 2: but you know he's my problem and not yours. I'm
- 41:12Speaker 2: so sorry you had to be here for that.
- 41:15Speaker 1: I'm okay, okay, are you sure?
- 41:19Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, I'm sorry. We should have gone to a
- 41:22Speaker 2: different building. I don't know why I thought this was
- 41:24Speaker 2: a good idea.
- 41:25Speaker 1: It's nice, it's nice appeared.
- 41:28Speaker 2: Okay, you guys finished the dinner. There's a dessert, Mama,
- 41:32Speaker 2: she has made you a lemon sorbet. It's very refreshing
- 41:36Speaker 2: for this evening. Yeah, who made this?
- 41:41Speaker 1: Really great lady?
- 41:42Speaker 2: Oh awesome, this is awesome. I I haven't had a
- 41:46Speaker 2: home cooked meal for made for me for for a
- 41:51Speaker 2: long time.
- 41:52Speaker 1: I'll I'll have to bring one again.
- 41:55Speaker 7: I'd like that.
- 42:02Speaker 10: I'm just imagining Bones cooking up some good yummies in
- 42:06Speaker 10: the kitchen.
- 42:11Speaker 4: Yeah, I gotta cook all the time. Don't just love
- 42:18Speaker 4: that open beer in his cargo short pocket. Fuck, I
- 42:23Speaker 4: gotta make a fucking roof for you, piece of ship.
- 42:30Speaker 4: Love that. That's why I got cargo Short one of the.
- 42:33Speaker 2: Best guys, Bones, Bones, Joshua. As you guys are leaving,
- 42:40Speaker 2: sorry again about my dad. His name is bum.
- 42:46Speaker 7: Just a little random tidbit.
- 42:49Speaker 1: Please don't apologize for his bad behavior.
- 42:54Speaker 6: That's on him.
- 42:58Speaker 1: It's so my place. But is there anything I can do?
- 43:04Speaker 7: Oh?
- 43:05Speaker 2: No, he he stopped hitting me when when I got
- 43:08Speaker 2: big enough to not let him anymore.
- 43:13Speaker 7: So I'm good.
- 43:15Speaker 2: That's so fucked up, Yeah for sure. When after yeah, yeah,
- 43:23Speaker 2: yeah he yeah, he couldn't keep it together after mom
- 43:30Speaker 2: so but hey, this was this really was a lovely night.
- 43:36Speaker 2: And I'm sorry he ruined a little bit of it.
- 43:39Speaker 2: But but yeah, let's do this again. And if you
- 43:42Speaker 2: can get me onto a different roof.
- 43:45Speaker 1: Easy, okay, pop another grape?
- 43:48Speaker 2: He goes, flash, I gotta run and grab beer apparently okay.
- 43:56Speaker 2: He leans forward to kiss your cheek if you allow him, yeah,
- 44:00Speaker 2: and kisses you on the cheek.
- 44:04Speaker 6: Oh, see you around, see.
- 44:06Speaker 2: You around, Quanta, Joshua, yep, and you blast off Jason.
- 44:24Speaker 7: Yeah, you have a sad week. Oh yeah, big old
- 44:29Speaker 7: sad week.
- 44:30Speaker 6: Big old soggy week.
- 44:34Speaker 4: Just like wandering around in a paper bathrobe, bumping into
- 44:38Speaker 4: rolls of paper at the at the Prince of Prince Yeah,
- 44:45Speaker 4: tissues piled up.
- 44:48Speaker 3: You've run out of tissues, You've moved onto the toilet
- 44:49Speaker 3: paper roll. Who hasn't been there?
- 44:53Speaker 4: Am I right?
- 44:54Speaker 2: Instead of walking to the station with page, you meet
- 44:58Speaker 2: her there m hmm. You enter through a tube wor
- 45:05Speaker 2: excuse me. The pneumatic soup time.
- 45:08Speaker 4: The main character of the story bones, No, he's got
- 45:21Speaker 4: a tragic backstory. He's the main character.
- 45:25Speaker 7: Guys, there's real people like.
- 45:27Speaker 4: That tank top and cargo shorts. Where's my bed? Just
- 45:36Speaker 4: the caricature of a man's so funny. He makes me
- 45:41Speaker 4: in the days.
- 45:45Speaker 7: Oh god, honestly vibes.
- 45:49Speaker 2: Yeah, the pneumatic tube science used to get missives across
- 45:54Speaker 2: to each other throughout the city. That technology was expanded
- 45:58Speaker 2: for traversial through these giant space barges. You never really
- 46:03Speaker 2: believed the stories of how many people they sent to space.
- 46:07Speaker 2: Like sure you knew it and you believed it, but
- 46:09Speaker 2: it was it's hard to like put your mind around.
- 46:12Speaker 2: But as Page walks you through the halls of the
- 46:15Speaker 2: space barge, you start to understand. It is so vast
- 46:18Speaker 2: and such amaze. There are little maps everywhere that say
- 46:22Speaker 2: like you are here, and show you which tube to
- 46:26Speaker 2: enter into to get where you need to be.
- 46:28Speaker 7: There are people tubes.
- 46:30Speaker 2: That's right, we all put we autumn fixed up.
- 46:37Speaker 7: I've always wanted to go into the tubes.
- 46:39Speaker 2: Well, here you can. Page is pretty terse with you
- 46:43Speaker 2: as you walk through the halls.
- 46:51Speaker 4: No, you go ahead.
- 46:53Speaker 2: So we're here. She points to a map. We only
- 46:56Speaker 2: have access to a few places because we didn't fix
- 46:58Speaker 2: all the tubes. Takes too much energy. But here's our
- 47:04Speaker 2: entry point. We'll wait here for the next one. And
- 47:06Speaker 2: we're going here and she points to the very center
- 47:11Speaker 2: of this map is a dome. It's just a two
- 47:15Speaker 2: D circle on the map. But it's whoa, it's fade.
- 47:18Speaker 2: It's a faded blue.
- 47:19Speaker 7: Two D faded blue circle.
- 47:22Speaker 2: I mean that's like that's I touch it. Least depressive part.
- 47:27Speaker 4: The signage in here is crazy.
- 47:32Speaker 2: While you wait, someone comes up behind you, guys to
- 47:35Speaker 2: wait for the same tube, and Page turns around. Oh
- 47:40Speaker 2: my god, this is so cool. What are you doing here, Jason.
- 47:45Speaker 2: This is doctor Jill. Jillian. I tell your Jill who
- 47:51Speaker 2: I don't think you have met no paper phantom smiles,
- 47:55Speaker 2: puts out her hand to shake doctor Jill.
- 47:58Speaker 7: This is my.
- 48:01Speaker 2: This is Jason.
- 48:03Speaker 7: Oh hello, push.
- 48:05Speaker 4: Up my glasses, sweaty limp, bad handshake.
- 48:09Speaker 2: Hi Jason. My name's Jillian. And to answer your question, Paige,
- 48:14Speaker 2: I'm going up to the biodome to check on I'm
- 48:19Speaker 2: going to check on the workers that are in proximity
- 48:21Speaker 2: to the morphogenetic field generator to see if there's any
- 48:26Speaker 2: effect of that on their minds. Page says, oh boy, yeah,
- 48:33Speaker 2: I've spent so much time around that thing. I hope
- 48:35Speaker 2: nothing's wrong. Jillian says, yeah, me too. That's why Cordula
- 48:40Speaker 2: wanted me.
- 48:40Speaker 4: To check in morphogenetic page.
- 48:44Speaker 2: The morphogenetic field generator, it's what makes the biodome work.
- 48:50Speaker 2: I'm excited. I'm excited to show you. Yeah, I'd love
- 48:57Speaker 2: to see it. The three of you get in a
- 48:59Speaker 2: new They aren't as wide or as big as an elevator,
- 49:04Speaker 2: so you're a little closer than normal. But the maximum
- 49:07Speaker 2: people is four that you can fit in one. So
- 49:10Speaker 2: you guys are we have a little bit of space.
- 49:12Speaker 2: You guys stand there. There's little elevator music as Gillian
- 49:17Speaker 2: nods along and cool.
- 49:20Speaker 4: Anybody ever get trapped in one of these, Page has
- 49:24Speaker 4: not to our knowledge.
- 49:26Speaker 2: We fix them up and they've been running pretty well.
- 49:28Speaker 2: So you guys get to the access point outside of
- 49:36Speaker 2: the dome and Jason, you see it.
- 49:38Speaker 4: The morphogenetic field generator, the biodome signage, bathrooms.
- 49:43Speaker 2: You get to the biodome and you see it. It's
- 49:45Speaker 2: so large that it takes your breath away right now.
- 49:49Speaker 2: It's a glass. It's not a sphere, but it is.
- 49:53Speaker 2: It is just a half sphere, and it is beautiful.
- 49:58Speaker 2: There are four quadrants, and in each quadrants different somehow,
- 50:03Speaker 2: different weather seasons are happening and different things are growing.
- 50:08Speaker 2: In one quadrant you see more tropical food. In another
- 50:12Speaker 2: you see more more root vegetables and normal normal kind
- 50:16Speaker 2: of farm like vegetables. It's amazing. You enter in. There's
- 50:22Speaker 2: the thing where you have to enter in and be sanitized.
- 50:26Speaker 2: You get sprayed with a little bit of liquid and
- 50:28Speaker 2: then the air sucks out while fresh air is being
- 50:32Speaker 2: pumped in and you enter the biodome. Whoa popa rit
- 50:40Speaker 2: What is that sanitizer? Oh yeah, that just makes sure
- 50:44Speaker 2: we're clean and don't ruin anything. But she points in
- 50:49Speaker 2: the very middle, and that's the way she starts walking
- 50:53Speaker 2: to a large round or but in the center of
- 50:57Speaker 2: the ceiling of the dome. It pulses with white waves
- 51:04Speaker 2: of energy that move down around the dome and then
- 51:10Speaker 2: move as they hit the ground, move in towards the
- 51:13Speaker 2: center of the dome, and then shoot up in a
- 51:16Speaker 2: small stream of white light back into the orb and
- 51:21Speaker 2: as the wave floods against you. You even feel the
- 51:26Speaker 2: little bits of paper that have been ripped or that
- 51:29Speaker 2: have been wet from your tears knitting back together, and
- 51:33Speaker 2: parts of your skin that have been bruised healing a
- 51:36Speaker 2: little bit. Whoa huh, Yeah, that's so again. MFG. It's
- 51:43Speaker 2: from the Venus mission. They were going to use them
- 51:46Speaker 2: when they landed on Venus to promote growth because food
- 51:49Speaker 2: on the New World, right, who knows?
- 51:51Speaker 4: Sure? Is it some kind of radiation?
- 51:55Speaker 2: Yes it is, but it's radiating even acceleration.
- 52:02Speaker 4: And that's safe for people.
- 52:05Speaker 2: Well, I hope, so, I guess that's what doctor Jill's
- 52:08Speaker 2: here to find out. At this point, doctor Jill goes
- 52:10Speaker 2: to the center, and as she goes to the center,
- 52:14Speaker 2: you look up and you do see workers that are
- 52:16Speaker 2: working on this sphere. And there's like a lift, one
- 52:19Speaker 2: of the scissor lifts that Jill gets in and starts
- 52:22Speaker 2: moving up.
- 52:24Speaker 4: Wow, this is amazing, page. I heard stories about this place,
- 52:28Speaker 4: but yeah, it's it's impressive.
- 52:32Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 52:32Speaker 2: Thanks. The trick was to regulate each biome separately, simulating sunlight,
- 52:38Speaker 2: shade moisture where it was needed, where we were able
- 52:42Speaker 2: to accelerate pollination and growth because of the MFG. And man,
- 52:49Speaker 2: I'm so proud of I'm so proud of this.
- 52:52Speaker 4: You should be. This is amazing. You're this is where
- 52:56Speaker 4: all that that food is coming from. Right, Yeah, I'm
- 53:00Speaker 4: I mean, you're saving the city. You're a hero.
- 53:05Speaker 2: Through the desire that her face wants to stay scowled
- 53:08Speaker 2: at you, she still smiles and nods. Yeah, it's really
- 53:13Speaker 2: cool and I'm really proud of it.
- 53:16Speaker 4: Took a long time, sure, I bet generations.
- 53:22Speaker 2: As you ask that question, you hear a voice.
- 53:26Speaker 8: Shout, Oh no, heads up.
- 53:28Speaker 1: Down below.
- 53:30Speaker 2: The scissor lift is halfway up. Jillian is in it,
- 53:35Speaker 2: going to check on these people. Oh no, the sphere
- 53:39Speaker 2: cracks off the ceiling. Page oh no, starts running immediately
- 53:45Speaker 2: to the workers of the field that might be smashed
- 53:49Speaker 2: underneath it.
- 53:50Speaker 4: Oh my god, my one weakness scissors.
- 53:54Speaker 2: Jillian is directly under it and in its field of destruction.
- 53:59Speaker 2: Page is running towards it. What's the phantom doing?
- 54:03Speaker 4: I think I'm gonna do my best to try and
- 54:05Speaker 4: do it sneakily, but I've gotta try and try and
- 54:10Speaker 4: pull Jillian. I think does she have like a badge
- 54:13Speaker 4: or something, or like a clipboard.
- 54:15Speaker 2: I'll say she has a bag, like a like a
- 54:17Speaker 2: full bag with paper in it. Yeah, I'll say she
- 54:20Speaker 2: has a bag with paper in it. Let's roll for that.
- 54:23Speaker 2: That's pretty sure.
- 54:25Speaker 4: Yeah, that's important.
- 54:26Speaker 7: Let's roll for bag with paper.
- 54:27Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 54:30Speaker 2: She is a doctor and is a scientist, and we
- 54:33Speaker 2: don't live in like a tablet era, right, so this
- 54:36Speaker 2: is certainly something she could have, just like an overthrow
- 54:40Speaker 2: bag with paper in it. So I'm rolling a twenty
- 54:43Speaker 2: sided die. If I roll below a seven, she does
- 54:47Speaker 2: not have a bag. If I roll a seven or above,
- 54:50Speaker 2: she does paper roll sixteen okayyy, tons.
- 54:55Speaker 4: Of paper noise. Nice. Yeah, I'm going to again a
- 54:59Speaker 4: surreptus as possible. I want to try and pull Jillian
- 55:04Speaker 4: into her backpack and out of like a cloak into
- 55:07Speaker 4: a bush, just like warp Burger to me, to me
- 55:12Speaker 4: through the paper.
- 55:13Speaker 7: Wow, Okay, this is difficult.
- 55:16Speaker 4: Ship.
- 55:17Speaker 2: This is a relatively new power for the phantom. And
- 55:21Speaker 2: and you have done it with friends touching you. You
- 55:24Speaker 2: have not moved another person. This is a godly check, Jason.
- 55:28Speaker 2: Oh boy, this is also godly because you're trying to
- 55:33Speaker 2: hide it. Super fair And I'm going to make you roll,
- 55:41Speaker 2: you roll either ready for you like your speed and
- 55:44Speaker 2: your ability to do this, or a cox to control
- 55:48Speaker 2: the paper and the like.
- 55:51Speaker 4: That's useless for me. I will go with ready, ready
- 55:55Speaker 4: plus paper.
- 55:58Speaker 1: What a die here, what's.
- 56:00Speaker 4: It's gonna be? Two D eights, that's all I got.
- 56:03Speaker 2: I'm rolling a D twenty and a D four. This
- 56:05Speaker 2: costs an energy.
- 56:06Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I got it.
- 56:09Speaker 2: I rolled sixteen.
- 56:10Speaker 4: That's the I'd have to roll max on both dies.
- 56:13Speaker 4: All right, I cry, so I don't think it is possible.
- 56:17Speaker 4: Tie you cry, cry, but.
- 56:19Speaker 1: Roll sometimes if it's close.
- 56:20Speaker 4: He's nice, all right. I did get an eight on
- 56:23Speaker 4: one of them, and then I got a six on
- 56:25Speaker 4: the other, So it's four fourteen as close as I
- 56:28Speaker 4: can get. No permanent bonus for these, so that's it.
- 56:31Speaker 2: That's a close fail. Jillian pops into her own paper.
- 56:35Speaker 2: I'll say, you get her out of the way of
- 56:37Speaker 2: the falling MFG. But she doesn't pop up. Oh no,
- 56:41Speaker 2: she's got to hang out with Arthur and the Phantom
- 56:43Speaker 2: for a while.
- 56:44Speaker 7: She doesn't pop up out of your paper, but you just.
- 56:46Speaker 2: Kind of instead of she pops out of her own
- 56:49Speaker 2: paper about halfway in between you. So it's a less
- 56:53Speaker 2: of a grade, but she falls a good ten fifteen
- 56:58Speaker 2: feet rolls. She's okay, but she kind of twists an ankle.
- 57:02Speaker 2: Page gets to where it's going to hit and shoulders
- 57:07Speaker 2: someone out of the way. You did an action for Jill,
- 57:10Speaker 2: but not Page. The sphere smashes onto Page and onto
- 57:17Speaker 2: the ground. You can't watch one because it's dreadful. Two
- 57:22Speaker 2: because there's a bright, enormous, bright white light that fills
- 57:29Speaker 2: your vision as particles and dust clear. Gillian looks up,
- 57:36Speaker 2: what happened to me? How did that happen? She starts
- 57:39Speaker 2: freaking out Page. She starts running herself towards Page.
- 57:44Speaker 4: I mean to do the same thing. I'm just running,
- 57:46Speaker 4: running right there with her. I'm gonna try and catch
- 57:48Speaker 4: up to them, get close as I can.
- 57:50Speaker 2: You come upon Page. What's your deepest fear?
- 57:53Speaker 7: Here?
- 57:54Speaker 4: She's dead and I'm alone.
- 58:00Speaker 7: Oof.
- 58:01Speaker 2: We talk about in superhero media, I think a lot
- 58:04Speaker 2: of people getting smashed by stuff, and that's like, I
- 58:08Speaker 2: think it's a way for us to cover a little
- 58:11Speaker 2: bit of brutality and gruesomeness because once they're smashed by
- 58:15Speaker 2: the thing, usually you can't see them. You imagine Page's
- 58:19Speaker 2: crushed body here, and it's a horrible thing to imagine
- 58:22Speaker 2: as you run. As the dust clears, you come and
- 58:31Speaker 2: you find Page on the ground, not smashed. Her hair
- 58:39Speaker 2: has gone stark white, and she is unconscious.
- 58:45Speaker 4: I'm gonna pick her up, Page Page.
- 58:51Speaker 2: There's no response as Arthur say.
- 58:56Speaker 8: Save her.
- 58:59Speaker 4: Whatever takes I look around, I close my eyes. I
- 59:05Speaker 4: just I put my hand on her chest. Paper. It's
- 59:08Speaker 4: just gonna start blanketing her. Come on, come on, can't
- 59:16Speaker 4: lose you too.
- 59:17Speaker 2: As the papers around her, the thing you can feel
- 59:20Speaker 2: the most in this world is paper and movement in it,
- 59:25Speaker 2: and you feel her heart beating. She's alive. She's in
- 59:30Speaker 2: a coma. And because of the blast of this morphogenetic
- 59:38Speaker 2: field generator, the paper phantom can level up.
- 59:43Speaker 7: Woo Twain.
- 59:48Speaker 4: I barely complained at this level about leveling up.
- 59:51Speaker 6: Okay, your girls safe, and you get a level.
- 59:54Speaker 4: I won't look a gift level in the mouth.
- 59:56Speaker 2: And there is a hospital in this place that you
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: can take Page two in the It's like an infirmary bay,
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: but it's so big and so complex that it counts
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: as hospital that the core gang runs here for the
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: people of the shoot. You take her, you take her
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: there and the doctor tells you this isn't good. Her
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: mind has it's a traumatic brain injury, and I don't
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: know what she'll be like if and when she wakes,
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: but she's going.
- 1:00:37Speaker 4: To be out for quite some time, and she'll do
- 1:00:41Speaker 4: was she have her memories?
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: Like I said, I don't know. With this kind of injury,
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: there's no telling who will wake up.
- 1:00:54Speaker 4: Can I stay here with her?
- 1:00:58Speaker 7: Yes?
- 1:00:59Speaker 4: Thanks, We don't have any other family.
- 1:01:05Speaker 7: I'm sorry.
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: You can come as often as you like, but this
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: is a long stay. Well that's all right, you nuts, jamire.
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: You wanted to spend some time with Maria, I did.
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: I think sometime sometime at the house.
- 1:01:34Speaker 10: We're enjoying a quiet, a quiet lunch near each other,
- 1:01:38Speaker 10: and I just kind of give her a little smile
- 1:01:42Speaker 10: while I'm eating my sandwich.
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: What sandwich are you eating?
- 1:01:46Speaker 10: I mean the turkey tomato avocado sandwich, some crack pepper,
- 1:01:53Speaker 10: some flaky salt, some sharp chatter, some avocado mayo.
- 1:02:00Speaker 4: Hey, Johnny cutting all this part out, Cut it out,
- 1:02:03Speaker 4: you cowered. Cut cut mirror cut Ben cut describing food
- 1:02:08Speaker 4: out of the episode, fucking.
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: It's the thing that our listeners love the This sandwich
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: is the main character of the show.
- 1:02:19Speaker 6: It's bones and sandwiches. Bones and sandwiches.
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: Makes bones a sandwich.
- 1:02:31Speaker 12: Like this is a great fucking sandwich.
- 1:02:34Speaker 4: A super hero and a shitty gosh are an apartment?
- 1:02:38Speaker 4: What a life up? It's bones and sandwich.
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: Uh, jimmyr. You give Maria a little smile through your
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: lovely sandwich, and as you look up at her, you
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: noticed something different. She's dressed very nicely. She has a
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: summer dress that's a touch shorter than her normal attire
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: side that.
- 1:03:13Speaker 7: I'm used to see around.
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: Yeah, but but nothing scandalous.
- 1:03:17Speaker 10: It's scandalous, definitely perceptible.
- 1:03:19Speaker 6: It's not a quiver of ribbons.
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: And the neck swoops a little lower than usual.
- 1:03:27Speaker 7: That deck lat seems to be growing.
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: She has like bright red lipstick on that somehow doesn't
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: clash with her auburn hair.
- 1:03:38Speaker 7: How does she find that shade's beautiful?
- 1:03:45Speaker 10: Mind? Hey, so you got something going on today, friend? No, respectfully, respectfully,
- 1:03:58Speaker 10: you're just you're looking nice. Oh this uh, this old thing.
- 1:04:03Speaker 10: This was addressed my mother maid.
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: Wow, and I I wanted to try it. Jackie walks
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: In makes herself a really quick dumb Bloney's sandwich looks
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: at you guys as she walks out, looks at you,
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: JIMR And like raises an eyebrow.
- 1:04:23Speaker 7: On the other side of Maria.
- 1:04:25Speaker 4: Looks at your sandwich.
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: What she looks? Yeah, yeah, yeah, having her around is great.
- 1:04:45Speaker 7: Yeah, sure, she's great.
- 1:04:51Speaker 6: It's such a best bad thing to say.
- 1:04:53Speaker 10: Yeah, but uh yeah, how are you doing? And know
- 1:05:00Speaker 10: we've drawn a lot of attention to ourselves recently.
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: I'm happy to be a part of it. It's what
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: my my mom wanted. And I love the cast of
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: characters you've brought around. The phantom makes more cleaning for me.
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: If it was just you, it wouldn't be so much.
- 1:05:19Speaker 10: Yeah, the phantom is really not always thoughtful, but I'm
- 1:05:25Speaker 10: glad that you're putting a positive spin on it.
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: Maria. Well, he killed my dad, he did do I
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: still have to deal with that. But but it's been
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: it's been.
- 1:05:47Speaker 4: Real.
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: And I don't mean that in like the you know,
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: euphemistic way. I mean like it's real life. It's exciting
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: something I didn't even know. Oh, we're true that my
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: mom would tell me stories about, and and yet here
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: it is, here, it is and you You're you're stunning.
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: You go out yeah, you look, you look so nightly
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: and and beautiful glint glinting on the sun, and that
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: you go out and I only feel maybe not only,
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: but but I feel so proud, so proud to give
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: you a place to rest. IM proud of you, Jamr.
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: I'm proud of you, Maria. This is this has been
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: a lot, and you've.
- 1:06:44Speaker 7: Stuck with us and keeping this crazy madhouse of Coop's running.
- 1:06:52Speaker 7: So thank you.
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: It's really nothing what I was, what I was taught
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: to do when I was born to do.
- 1:07:00Speaker 10: You were born to do whatever you want, and you're
- 1:07:03Speaker 10: choosing to do this, and you're doing a damn good
- 1:07:05Speaker 10: job of it. But you let me know as soon
- 1:07:08Speaker 10: as you're done. You know this, You know you can
- 1:07:11Speaker 10: do this as much or as not much as you want.
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: As you say that, she reaches across the table, puts
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: her hand on yours and catches your eye contact. Well,
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: that's not going to be the case, jamiir I want this.
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: She moves her hand back to her cracked pepper turkey
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: sandwich or whatever it was, and blushes a little.
- 1:07:37Speaker 10: Well, I am very glad to hear that, very glad, and.
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: The smile that you gave her before you started talking,
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: comes upon her lips and she smiles at you.
- 1:07:54Speaker 4: Is everyone gonna get a kiss?
- 1:07:55Speaker 7: This episode?
- 1:07:56Speaker 6: Kisses everyone's getting blushes.
- 1:08:00Speaker 7: He was afraid, He's.
- 1:08:00Speaker 4: Not He's not going to do it. Yeah, live in
- 1:08:07Speaker 4: the Sorry, sorry, Yeah, ride the wave go ahead.
- 1:08:10Speaker 10: So, you know, apropos of nothing, you know, once uh,
- 1:08:15Speaker 10: once the city calms down and you know, shit stabilizes
- 1:08:21Speaker 10: a little bit.
- 1:08:22Speaker 4: What do you think?
- 1:08:23Speaker 7: What do you think you want to do?
- 1:08:26Speaker 10: You know, if there was no you know, existential threat
- 1:08:31Speaker 10: going on, Like, how would you spend the next few days?
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: I I don't know. I have the best job I
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: could imagine in the city, like my my boss is
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: great and I don't have to work insane hours.
- 1:08:50Speaker 7: Hopefully it's not boring.
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: Right, No, that's the most exciting job. I don't know,
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: Jimmy or I don't. I don't know how to answer that.
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: Maybe maybe we'll get lucky in the you will never
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: calm down. Maybe no, I mean I don't want people
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: to be hurt. I just think what we do is exciting.
- 1:09:11Speaker 7: What we do is exciting, and.
- 1:09:16Speaker 10: Yeah, I hope we get a chance though when things
- 1:09:20Speaker 10: calm down. You know, maybe I don't know, catch a
- 1:09:25Speaker 10: show or see a band or do normal people stuff sometimes.
- 1:09:30Speaker 7: Do you mean like a like a date? Yeah, yeah,
- 1:09:37Speaker 7: maybe like a date.
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: You know, maybe she's makes like a koy face and
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: pulls a shoulder in with my boss.
- 1:09:48Speaker 7: That we'd have to, you know, explore. You know, we
- 1:09:51Speaker 7: need to get some kind of HR involved. We need
- 1:09:54Speaker 7: to do this above the books.
- 1:09:57Speaker 3: Quanta walks in, you can make a sandwich, just puts
- 1:10:01Speaker 3: her hands up and backs out in the room.
- 1:10:03Speaker 4: Yeah, you just stand next to Jackie's sharing her sandwich watching.
- 1:10:07Speaker 7: Nope, she must have clocked the expanding.
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: The increased circulation of both of them.
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: She laughs as you joke about HR department, and she
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: just says, I would love I would love that.
- 1:10:23Speaker 7: I think it could be a lot of fun.
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: So do I. And the two of you share a
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: nice lunch to get you eating, Quanta, Ronnie, you wanted
- 1:10:36Speaker 2: to touch in with Gabe and open up your shark
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: go to work, to work. We'll say that over this
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: the last week or so, you and Gabe been able
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: to get back open and start doing the marketing and
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: new babble.
- 1:10:51Speaker 7: You put an ad in the paper.
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: You find that you have a lot of clientele because
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: you were famous, Yeah, and you were. You know, they
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: declared you a murderer and a heretic and all. There's
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: drama surrounding Ronnie's readings. But you open up shop. You
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: have removed You've removed the sign that says that you're
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: sponsored by the Church of the New Babbel Day, and
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: you have clients. Ronnie in like the main campaign here,
- 1:11:28Speaker 2: tell us what your sessions look like.
- 1:11:31Speaker 5: Now Ronnie is definitely not as self assured like she's
- 1:11:37Speaker 5: She's more aware now of what she's doing and how
- 1:11:41Speaker 5: she was helping people by changing their brain chemistry.
- 1:11:45Speaker 3: Accidentally permanently sometimes, but now she is using that to
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: like see where like the sticking points are for people,
- 1:11:55Speaker 3: so she welcomes people in. She's still wearing like her
- 1:11:59Speaker 3: fancy rowebes to create like an air of like authority
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: and mystery, and still has like the dance floor set up,
- 1:12:08Speaker 3: but uses like talking and then movement to create like
- 1:12:13Speaker 3: more circulation in people's bodies so she can like see
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: where the sticking points are and then like help people
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: identify it rather than physically her doing something about it
- 1:12:24Speaker 3: because she doesn't want to do that right now, that's scary.
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: You read people's electrical signals, finding sticking points in their pathways,
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: and instead of altering them, you just make them aware. Beautiful.
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: What do the dances look like? I know you've explained
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: it before, but but what does the dance floor look like?
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: And what are the You still use the sand and
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: how's it going?
- 1:12:54Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:12:54Speaker 6: Yeah, I think she's still because she still has.
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: Fun like kind of having like a secret, even though.
- 1:13:02Speaker 6: She's got a really big one.
- 1:13:03Speaker 3: Now that the floor is covered in like dust and sand,
- 1:13:08Speaker 3: so it's a little slippery. But as she dances with
- 1:13:11Speaker 3: people and kind of like lets them lead and but
- 1:13:14Speaker 3: then like mimics and exaggerates their movements. After they dance,
- 1:13:18Speaker 3: she reads pretends to read the patterns in the floor
- 1:13:22Speaker 3: to explain to them like what maybe their problem is
- 1:13:25Speaker 3: or what their future could hold.
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: And Ronnie, do you do this? I'm I'm asking you,
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: like your thoughts is this Do you feel as though
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: does Ronnie feel in this moment this is penance for
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: what she's done or do you feel like you're just
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: actually trying to help people in your unmasked life as
- 1:13:42Speaker 2: well as your masked life.
- 1:13:45Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 1:13:45Speaker 3: I think yeah, that Like conversation with Joshua and like
- 1:13:49Speaker 3: the many conversations she's had with Jillian in.
- 1:13:52Speaker 15: The Origin stories if you want to hear them on
- 1:13:55Speaker 15: our Patreon, what that it is? Penance like that this
- 1:14:00Speaker 15: Ronnie was not good for the city and did harm
- 1:14:05Speaker 15: to people, and now Quanta is doing good, but Ronnie
- 1:14:09Speaker 15: needs to do good too, So she's trying to do
- 1:14:13Speaker 15: what she knows how to do, but do it better
- 1:14:17Speaker 15: this time. And like maybe the yeah, and that that's
- 1:14:22Speaker 15: like a lack I think of self awareness on her part.
- 1:14:26Speaker 7: Yeah, for sure.
- 1:14:27Speaker 3: That it's like, oh, I'll just I'll do this thing,
- 1:14:29Speaker 3: but do it do it better this type rather than
- 1:14:31Speaker 3: maybe just stopping.
- 1:14:33Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, there is. Most of your clients are cono folks.
- 1:14:39Speaker 2: A lot of them come in very worried about the
- 1:14:42Speaker 2: election and how that will change their way of life.
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: And so for them, you're you're allowed. You're you're able
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: to pinpoint attachment to material things a lot of them
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: come in with. Even though they come in from a
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: place of wealth, it's never enough, right, So there's there's
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: always covetousness and jealousy. So you're able to pinpoint some
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: of those things around either lovers or material things, et cetera.
- 1:15:09Speaker 2: You have a good time putting this back up. One day,
- 1:15:13Speaker 2: it's your closing time. Gabe is there. He is your
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: front door kind of like he kind of wears not
- 1:15:22Speaker 2: as fancy as you, but similar kind of robes and
- 1:15:26Speaker 2: is your squire type, like, yes.
- 1:15:29Speaker 7: What's it good?
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: Like the person who meets you at the witch's door
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: kind of like like my familiar. Yes, yes, he's like
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: you're familiar. He collects payment and ushers people out. When
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: people come in without a reservation and you have a customer,
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: he says, you know, Ronnie cannot see you now, you
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: know the reader. He probably calls you the reader cannot
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: see you right now, that kind of thing. You guys
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: are closing up one.
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: Day and he how's your take today?
- 1:15:57Speaker 7: Oh?
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: Really good? Hey we never talked about payment for me.
- 1:16:03Speaker 6: Oh my god, I'm so sorry.
- 1:16:05Speaker 2: I mean we've only been open for four or five days.
- 1:16:07Speaker 3: Yeah, but I you know, when I offered you a job,
- 1:16:09Speaker 3: I offered you a job, like really.
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: It's totally fine. Yeah, I feel like you I owe
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: you a little Like do you remember that one time
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: when I was like your servant and they told me
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: to provide for all your needs and like if you
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: wanted sexual comforts. I was supposed to like provide that,
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: like I could go either find someone they said, or
- 1:16:29Speaker 2: like it could just be me. Oh man, Yeah, that
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: made me nervous as hell.
- 1:16:35Speaker 12: You gotta buy you.
- 1:16:35Speaker 10: Gotta buy those sessions listeners, those teeny wild eighty minute sessions.
- 1:16:44Speaker 6: That was crazy, okabe?
- 1:16:48Speaker 2: Yeah, hey, unrelated, I was thinking about asking out this
- 1:16:54Speaker 2: girl on a date. Yeah, we met at the coffee
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: shop and it's no big deal. But she's like like
- 1:17:02Speaker 2: a really strong independent type, like kind of like you are.
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: So I don't know if like do you want do
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: you think I mean, do you think she wants like
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: me to do that like old fashion like me to
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: ask her out? Or do you think like like what
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: I'm asking you, like what what a girl's like? You like?
- 1:17:21Speaker 2: Would you want to ask him out?
- 1:17:23Speaker 16: Like?
- 1:17:23Speaker 7: Should he just wait?
- 1:17:25Speaker 2: Are you getting should I just wait around?
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: Are you getting like a vibe? Do you think she
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: likes you too?
- 1:17:30Speaker 7: Whoa boy? I couldn't tell you.
- 1:17:33Speaker 6: Well, I think that's your answer.
- 1:17:34Speaker 3: Then if you don't know, then you had to be
- 1:17:36Speaker 3: the one to ask or break the ice.
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: Right Yeah, uh, let me think about that. Let me think,
- 1:17:44Speaker 2: Let me think about that. Thank you for the advice.
- 1:17:47Speaker 3: I'm trying. I'm being I want you to know. I
- 1:17:50Speaker 3: want you to know, my friend. I'm being so good,
- 1:17:52Speaker 3: and I'm not peeking inside your brain right now.
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: Oh thank you. Wait, you can just heek inside my brain. Yes,
- 1:17:59Speaker 2: as you guys this conversation. You see a shape come
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: to your door, uh, raise their hand about to knock,
- 1:18:09Speaker 2: and then see that they kind of notice your that
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: they notice your clothes and they split.
- 1:18:16Speaker 3: Okay, I'm peeking inside that brain, though, I reach out
- 1:18:19Speaker 3: my senses to see who that was, if it's a
- 1:18:22Speaker 3: client I know, or.
- 1:18:23Speaker 2: Roll a sense check with your power die. All right,
- 1:18:28Speaker 2: this is a challenging check. I'm rolling at T ten
- 1:18:31Speaker 2: ooh three world one, showing it to Ethan that is
- 1:18:39Speaker 2: on the dice.
- 1:18:40Speaker 6: It's true, nobody picks it up.
- 1:18:45Speaker 3: One would believe that's the one that's a one on
- 1:18:47Speaker 3: the die that you picked up off the table and
- 1:18:49Speaker 3: could have rotated in.
- 1:18:50Speaker 7: Your but he didn't because that would be crazy.
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: I'd be insane. You are familiar with this mind and
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: this person. And Manny Ellington walks away what embarrassed, nervous
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: but relieved that he doesn't have to go in.
- 1:19:09Speaker 6: I open the door and call traim. Mister Ellington.
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: Oh oh no, no, he pulls down his cap.
- 1:19:19Speaker 3: Well, then, stranger, I'd be happy to stay open a
- 1:19:24Speaker 3: few extra minutes if you are in need.
- 1:19:26Speaker 2: I appreciate your willingness, but I would never ask a
- 1:19:29Speaker 2: member of this city to stay past hours. Even my
- 1:19:33Speaker 2: own employees get to go home at a decent hour. Please,
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: I'll come back another day.
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: Very well, And he walks, that was Mandy Ellington.
- 1:19:44Speaker 7: What that's crazy?
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: Yeah, ooh, so interesting.
- 1:19:51Speaker 3: There's not a lot of people that know my two
- 1:19:54Speaker 3: sides but don't know them together.
- 1:19:57Speaker 2: You know, Well, he doesn't know Wait, he knows you
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: as Quanta you mean yeah, but he doesn't know you
- 1:20:03Speaker 2: as Ronnie.
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: I mean, everybody knows me as Ronnie.
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: Well, I mean he doesn't know that the two are
- 1:20:08Speaker 2: the same.
- 1:20:08Speaker 6: Exactly, That's what I'm saying.
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: Oh sorry, right, Yeah, I wonder what he wanted. I
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: couldn't quite see.
- 1:20:17Speaker 6: I just knew it was him.
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: And that's where we'll end this episode of the Team
- 1:20:22Speaker 2: Up Play Show podcast.
- 1:20:25Speaker 3: Manny Ellington is having a material possessions be too big
- 1:20:29Speaker 3: in his life.
- 1:20:31Speaker 4: Maybe he came by it to see if anyone wanted
- 1:20:34Speaker 4: a cure. Anyone who can ship Manny Ellington and Quanta, we'll.
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: Talk about maybe what Manny wanted in the light be
- 1:20:46Speaker 2: possibly in the chat cave. We'll talk all about this
- 1:20:50Speaker 2: episode on the chat cave. The chat caves on our Patreon, Patreon,
- 1:20:54Speaker 2: dot com slash Team Up RPG, as was referenced tonight.

- 1:21:02Speaker 2: free episodes, and there's the chat Cave, which is our
- 1:21:06Speaker 2: super silly bonus post show.
- 1:21:09Speaker 7: So we'll see you over there.
- 1:21:10Speaker 4: Really no, yeah, we barely talk about the episode. It's
- 1:21:14Speaker 4: mostly just been describing more foods. That's not true. We
- 1:21:17Speaker 4: talk a lot about the episode.
- 1:21:19Speaker 6: I feel like the last chick Game, we.
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: Were very good.
- 1:21:21Speaker 4: We were so good.
- 1:21:22Speaker 7: Did we get a treat?
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: We'll see you over there, and we'll see you next
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: week with another episode.
