- 0:26Speaker 1: with reporters here as the Saints get ready to head
- 0:29Speaker 1: up to New York to take on the Giants, and
- 0:32Speaker 1: there might be a little bit of good news for
- 0:35Speaker 1: New Orleans. I don't know how much it really tremendously
- 0:39Speaker 1: matters right now, considering that the mathematical probability of the
- 0:43Speaker 1: Saints making the playoffs now is less than one percent,
- 0:46Speaker 1: so that stinks. But it looks like Eric McCoy Lucas Patrick,
- 0:54Speaker 1: both who missed this past game, could be on track
- 0:57Speaker 1: to return for the game against the Giants this week.
- 1:00Speaker 2: I think that Eric work out to see him play,
- 1:03Speaker 2: But theraph olcoy, yeah, everything's I'm on track for him
- 1:06Speaker 2: right now to be ready to roll this week, and
- 1:08Speaker 2: so he should be back out there Wednesday. You know,
- 1:11Speaker 2: we'll wait and see on Lucas as well. Hopefully, I
- 1:14Speaker 2: think I think him and Lucas are both trending in
- 1:17Speaker 2: the right direction hopefully to get them out there Wednesday,
- 1:19Speaker 2: So that'll be good.
- 1:21Speaker 1: You know, the Giants defense hasn't been awful. I mean,
- 1:26Speaker 1: they're right in the middle of the pack of the
- 1:27Speaker 1: NFL either eighteenth in scoring defense, set at twenty three
- 1:32Speaker 1: twenty three points per game. And you know, for New Orleans,
- 1:39Speaker 1: the key to this offense has been the ability to
- 1:44Speaker 1: run the football and that really goes back to the
- 1:50Speaker 1: first two weeks against Carolina and Dallas, when we all
- 1:52Speaker 1: saw it, when the offensive line was healthy, when the
- 1:55Speaker 1: wide zone plays with all the motion we're running so effectively.
- 1:59Speaker 1: It was all the things that we kind of talked
- 2:02Speaker 1: about through camp in this offseason with Clint Kubiak coming in.
- 2:05Speaker 1: And then we know what happened. Eric McCoy got hurt,
- 2:08Speaker 1: Lucas Patrick got hurt. You had this revolving door at
- 2:10Speaker 1: center and guard, and then Taysom Hill was hurt, and
- 2:12Speaker 1: then Derek Carr. You're down to Lave and Shaheed as
- 2:17Speaker 1: we know as well, it's just been just one body
- 2:21Speaker 1: blow after another for this team. But if you get
- 2:25Speaker 1: McCoy and Patrick back with Alvin Kamara, you know, just
- 2:29Speaker 1: about one hundred yards away from his first one thousand
- 2:32Speaker 1: yard rushing season of his career, this could be a
- 2:38Speaker 1: pretty big day for the Saints on the ground. The
- 2:42Speaker 1: Giants are the fourth worst run defense in the NFL.
- 2:47Speaker 1: They allow one hundred and forty five yards a game.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Now the Saints are only three spots better at one
- 2:52Speaker 1: hundred and thirty six yards per game. So the Saints
- 2:54Speaker 1: have really struggled against the run, but probably the Giants
- 2:57Speaker 1: are even worse. And then we did learn on Tuesday
- 3:00Speaker 1: that Dexter Lawrence, big interior defensive lineman for the Giants,
- 3:05Speaker 1: he's done for the season and he's had ninety six
- 3:07Speaker 1: pressures when lined up at nose tackle. The next closest player,
- 3:11Speaker 1: by the way, according to PFF, has nineteen. Said that again,
- 3:16Speaker 1: Dexter Lawrence has ninety six pressures when lined up at
- 3:20Speaker 1: nose tackle this year. The next closest player has nineteen.
- 3:25Speaker 1: He's an awesome interior defensive lineman and he's done for
- 3:29Speaker 1: the year. So you're taking a massive piece out of
- 3:32Speaker 1: the middle of that defense. Let me remind you what
- 3:35Speaker 1: it was like when when the Saints were playing the
- 3:37Speaker 1: Eagles and Eric McCoy went down after the third snap
- 3:42Speaker 1: and Lucas Patrick had to jump in there and play
- 3:47Speaker 1: center against that What was it even Patrick? I think
- 3:51Speaker 1: Patrick stayed at guard. I don't even remember. Maybe shanelm
- 3:55Speaker 1: you went I think Patrick stayed at guard. Shanelm you
- 3:58Speaker 1: went in at center and had a block that Mons
- 4:00Speaker 1: from Georgia. Yeah, how did that go over?
- 4:03Speaker 2: Not great?
- 4:04Speaker 1: So, I mean Jalen Carter showed you what a dominant
- 4:10Speaker 1: interior player can do against a backup offensive lineman. Well,
- 4:14Speaker 1: if you're basically reversing that now, if Eric McCoy is
- 4:17Speaker 1: back and Dexter Lawrence isn't there huge huge win benefit
- 4:21Speaker 1: for the New Orleans Saints ever were to play out
- 4:23Speaker 1: that way. The other thing the Saints may get is
- 4:27Speaker 1: Kendre Miller back now. Darren Rizzy on Monday said the
- 4:33Speaker 1: Saints have opened the twenty one day window for Kendre
- 4:35Speaker 1: Miller to return. The question is when he returns, are
- 4:39Speaker 1: you gonna use him? I mean, remember back in training camp,
- 4:41Speaker 1: Dennis Allen said point blank. It's hard to make the
- 4:43Speaker 1: team if you're always in the training room. Talking about
- 4:46Speaker 1: Kendre Miller, he was asked what they expect from Miller.
- 4:49Speaker 1: He said, I don't know. We haven't seen enough of him.
- 4:52Speaker 1: He's never healthy. Kendre Miller was very much in Dennis
- 4:55Speaker 1: Allen's doghouse. So does he have a clean slate here
- 4:58Speaker 1: with Darren Rizzy Go.
- 5:00Speaker 2: A few weeks ago. I tried to give everybody clean slates.
- 5:02Speaker 2: I don't have a doghouse. Kendra and I met the
- 5:04Speaker 2: first day, you know that I took over and we
- 5:06Speaker 2: had a great conversation, and I told him just that.
- 5:09Speaker 2: I told me he had a clean slate moving forward,
- 5:11Speaker 2: and I'm gonna judge him by, you know, based on
- 5:13Speaker 2: what he does from that day moving forward. And like
- 5:16Speaker 2: I said, there's no one that's ever going to sit
- 5:17Speaker 2: here in doubt that this guy's a talented guy. His
- 5:20Speaker 2: thing is going to be consistency and staying healthy.
- 5:23Speaker 1: The Saints are a five point road favorite over the Giants.
- 5:29Speaker 1: It opened at three and a half. It's up to five.
- 5:32Speaker 1: I mean, the Saints are to tell you how bad
- 5:34Speaker 1: the Giants are. The Saints are a four and eight
- 5:36Speaker 1: football team with one of the worst defenses in the NFL.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Marry five point road favorite against the Giants this week.
- 5:44Speaker 1: The Giants are a mess. There are troches at two
- 5:46Speaker 1: and ten. They might literally be the worst team in
- 5:48Speaker 1: the NFL right now. This is one of two remaining
- 5:51Speaker 1: games I think the Saints can get. I think you
- 5:53Speaker 1: get this one and the game at home against the Raiders.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Let's even go get it on Sunday and maybe with
- 5:59Speaker 1: a healthy offensive line in the way.
