- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, Molly, what's up? You're on the air. Good morning.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Oh, my gosh, you guys. So I'm having problems making
- 0:05Speaker 2: friends with other moms because I tried making friends with
- 0:09Speaker 2: this mom at my kid's school through a play date,
- 0:11Speaker 2: and it got so weird. Like, we were in the
- 0:15Speaker 2: kitchen while our kids were upstairs, and then her daughter
- 0:19Speaker 2: runs down for some water, looks at me, and randomly goes...
- 0:22Speaker 2: my mommy says your husband's really handsome and like yeah
- 0:27Speaker 2: I was like okay I like kind of laughed and
- 0:29Speaker 2: then the mom turns bright red and she goes oh
- 0:32Speaker 2: she's not supposed to say that and I was like
- 0:35Speaker 2: what is going on here then she admits to me
- 0:38Speaker 2: in person to my face that she has a tiny
- 0:40Speaker 2: crush on my husband because she sees him in the
- 0:43Speaker 2: drop-off line each morning and I'm like okay and she's
- 0:47Speaker 2: like actually can i ask you something do you think
- 0:50Speaker 2: he'd ever cheat on you and i was like what
- 0:53Speaker 2: what like no what you know and apparently she and
- 0:57Speaker 2: her husband got into this huge fight because he caught
- 1:01Speaker 2: her watching my man through her car window like so
- 1:05Speaker 2: weird and then she starts crying and she says can
- 1:08Speaker 2: you please ask your husband to stop being so nice
- 1:10Speaker 2: to me like it's his fault And I'm sitting there thinking, like, lady,
- 1:14Speaker 2: I invited you over for a play date not to
- 1:17Speaker 2: steal my man. Like, what is happening here?
- 1:20Speaker 1: That's not a potential friend.
- 1:21Speaker 3: That's a problem.
- 1:22Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:23Speaker 5: That's a big problem. That started at red level 10.
- 1:27Speaker 5: Don't like it.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:28Speaker 6: All right, Molly.
- 1:30Speaker 2: I can't believe her husband knows about it, too. Like,
- 1:33Speaker 2: I'm like, get me out of here, you know? I
- 1:35Speaker 2: was like, and it was an escape room play date.
- 1:37Speaker 2: I was like, get me out of here.
- 1:38Speaker 1: So what you're saying, it's tough to make friends as
- 1:41Speaker 1: an adult.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Like, dude, I don't even know. You couldn't even background
- 1:44Speaker 2: check that. I just find out that they're weird. Lady one,
- 1:48Speaker 2: I guess.
- 1:48Speaker 1: I think whenever that situation comes up and it comes
- 1:50Speaker 1: up a lot on the show, I think swingers.
- 1:52Speaker 6: Swingers.
- 1:54Speaker 3: One of them wants to be, but the husband clearly
- 1:56Speaker 3: does not.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Would he ever cheat on you? What a bizarre question.
- 1:59Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Thanks, Molly. I like it. Have a great day.
- 2:03Speaker 7: It is.
- 2:03Speaker 6: It is kind of.
- 2:05Speaker 3: It is kind of awkward making friends as like an adult.
- 2:08Speaker 3: I was actually just talking to Noah about.
- 2:09Speaker 1: This the other day.
- 2:10Speaker 3: He is in this weird situation where he's like, I
- 2:13Speaker 3: feel like I need to make friends, but I don't
- 2:15Speaker 3: really know how. And I'm like, I am in a
- 2:17Speaker 3: similar situation, but it's like, I don't necessarily feel like
- 2:20Speaker 3: I need to make friends, but like Easton started this
- 2:22Speaker 3: new baseball team and it's like all new parents. And
- 2:25Speaker 3: we've been with the same parents for like the last
- 2:26Speaker 3: five seasons.
- 2:27Speaker 1: It's been very comfortable. Everyone gets along. Everyone's kind of
- 2:29Speaker 1: become friends.
- 2:30Speaker 3: And I walk into this new team and it's like,
- 2:33Speaker 3: I feel like nobody wants to be my friend. And
- 2:36Speaker 3: I don't like that feeling because I just want to
- 2:38Speaker 3: be friends with everybody. Like I want all of us
- 2:41Speaker 3: moms to like make team hats. And I was prepared
- 2:43Speaker 3: to like make them for everybody. And like nobody talks
- 2:46Speaker 3: to each other.
- 2:46Speaker 8: Like this is awkward.
- 2:48Speaker 1: This is just weird. Like you would think.
- 2:51Speaker 3: That, like, that would sort of be a built-in, like,
- 2:54Speaker 3: way to make friends as an adult.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Like, your kids' sports teams, obviously.
- 2:58Speaker 3: Like, we obviously have, like, kids with the same interests
- 3:01Speaker 3: and whatnot.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Are they all friends together or they're just no one's
- 3:04Speaker 1: talking to anybody?
- 3:05Speaker 3: No, there's some that know each other, but, like, only
- 3:07Speaker 3: a few.
- 3:08Speaker 1: But the majority, like, nobody talks. That's weird. And I
- 3:11Speaker 1: think that's so odd. I think that's the age of
- 3:13Speaker 1: cell phones and stuff because they've been.
- 3:14Speaker 5: Maybe you're the icebreaker because you are anyway, Kyle.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Maybe that's your gig now.
- 3:18Speaker 3: Yeah, and his last team, like, none of us knew
- 3:20Speaker 3: each other before the first couple seasons, and everyone talked,
- 3:22Speaker 3: and then we ended up becoming, like, this, like.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Fun family. Well, how far along are you in this season? Like,
- 3:26Speaker 1: just his first.
- 3:27Speaker 3: Game was last night, so it's still early.
- 3:28Speaker 8: But you could have had matching mom hats for night one. Kyle,
- 3:31Speaker 8: I feel like it is difficult making friends as adults, but, like...
- 3:34Speaker 8: You just got to put yourself out there. Like, everyone
- 3:37Speaker 8: wants camaraderie. Everybody wants connection again. Just put yourself out there.
- 3:41Speaker 8: Put them all in a group chat and just do it.
- 3:43Speaker 8: I literally just went to dinner last night with a
- 3:45Speaker 8: new friend that I met sitting at Zips at the
- 3:48Speaker 8: bar just randomly.
- 3:49Speaker 1: New friend?
- 3:50Speaker 8: New friend at 28 years old.
- 3:51Speaker 3: And you guys, like, exchanged numbers?
- 3:53Speaker 8: Exchanged phone numbers. We are in a group chat called
- 3:55Speaker 8: Zip Baddies. It's me, her, and another one of my friends, Kendall,
- 4:01Speaker 8: but we all are introducing her to our friend groups.
- 4:03Speaker 5: It's been really.
- 4:04Speaker 8: Really fun to get to know someone, but you've got
- 4:06Speaker 8: to put yourself out there, girl.
- 4:07Speaker 3: I feel like I am, but it's not like being accepted.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Sloan, is it hard to make friends as an adult?
- 4:14Speaker 6: Oh, yes.
- 4:16Speaker 7: I get a little nervous making friends as an adult.
- 4:19Speaker 7: And my husband and I recently moved into our new neighborhood.
- 4:23Speaker 7: We've been here, you know, about a month. It's been fun.
- 4:26Speaker 7: And he really wanted to be friends, especially when you're
- 4:29Speaker 7: going to be living next to people all the time.
- 4:31Speaker 2: You want to be friends with them. So he was
- 4:33Speaker 2: hanging out with them.
- 4:35Speaker 7: They'd drink, you know, at night.
- 4:36Speaker 2: They'd hang out like outside and they'd talk about.
- 4:39Speaker 6: Those things that are going on.
- 4:41Speaker 7: And then one of the guys started talking about how
- 4:43Speaker 7: there's a package stealer apparently in the neighborhood. And so
- 4:48Speaker 7: for some reason, my husband took this as an opportunity
- 4:51Speaker 7: to prove himself.
- 4:53Speaker 2: And he's like, he.
- 4:54Speaker 7: Wants to protect this. And he came back and told
- 4:56Speaker 7: me everything. And he was like, you know, if somebody
- 4:59Speaker 7: tries my house, I'm going to tackle them.
- 5:01Speaker 4: And I'm like, okay, because like, you're not going to
- 5:05Speaker 4: single-handedly protect this entire neighborhood, but. apparently he can and
- 5:10Speaker 4: then later that same exact night we hear a noise
- 5:14Speaker 4: it's you know kind of weird and he sees that
- 5:17Speaker 4: there's some guy just climbing over a.
- 5:19Speaker 7: Fence so this is like oh he springs into action
- 5:23Speaker 7: does not even put on a damn shirt or pants
- 5:26Speaker 7: he is literally in full-on underwear chasing this man.
- 5:29Speaker 1: That's what i would expect.
- 5:32Speaker 7: And I'm like, oh, my gosh. And he ends up
- 5:35Speaker 7: catching this guy.
- 5:36Speaker 6: I mean, my husband is fit.
- 5:37Speaker 2: He's fast.
- 5:37Speaker 7: And he ends up catching the guy. And he, like,
- 5:40Speaker 7: you know, thinks that he's Batman. He's like, oh, my God,
- 5:43Speaker 7: I've done it. And then once the cops come up,
- 5:46Speaker 7: they put him in handcuffs. Whoa. And they say, what
- 5:48Speaker 7: are you doing tackling the homeowner of this house?
- 5:53Speaker 1: Hilarious.
- 5:56Speaker 7: Yes. First of all, he had definitely made him a
- 6:03Speaker 7: little red. He definitely is now known in the neighborhood
- 6:06Speaker 7: as the wannabe vigilante.
- 6:08Speaker 5: And that is how he will remain underpants vigilante.
- 6:12Speaker 9: But now since then, is he made friends with everybody
- 6:14Speaker 9: in the neighborhood or it's too late that because of that,
- 6:17Speaker 9: it's not going to happen.
- 6:18Speaker 4: I mean, no, they definitely liked it.
- 6:20Speaker 2: They liked to make friends.
- 6:21Speaker 1: I would love that guy.
- 6:22Speaker 7: I would love that guy. Yeah, it definitely worked. Maybe
- 6:26Speaker 7: not how he thought it would, but hey, they liked him.
- 6:29Speaker 1: All right, that's a good way to make friends. Thanks, Sloane.
- 6:32Speaker 9: There you go, Kyle and Paige. You need to be
- 6:34Speaker 9: a vigilante in your baseball team, baseball moms. Mary, Mary,
- 6:37Speaker 9: is it hard making friends as an adult?
- 6:40Speaker 6: Yes, it is actually very hard making friends as an adult.
- 6:44Speaker 1: What's going on in your world with that?
- 6:47Speaker 6: So, I mean, okay, it was a while ago, but
- 6:50Speaker 6: when my husband and I got married, he had a
- 6:54Speaker 6: huge group of friends, and they were all, you know,
- 6:57Speaker 6: switching in and out of being groomsmen for each other.
- 7:00Speaker 6: So I needed to come up with four bridesmaids. And
- 7:03Speaker 6: for some people, that might sound like, oh, four, that's
- 7:05Speaker 6: not a lot.
- 7:06Speaker 2: For me, kind of a lot.
- 7:08Speaker 6: So he had a good friend who had a girlfriend,
- 7:13Speaker 6: and he was kind of encouraging me to reach out
- 7:16Speaker 6: and like, oh, why don't you get together with Kim,
- 7:18Speaker 6: and maybe she can.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Be a bridesmaid.
- 7:19Speaker 6: And I'm like, okay, well, sure. So I reach out
- 7:25Speaker 6: and set up a time to go to lunch and
- 7:28Speaker 6: go with this woman, and everything was just like awkward, right?
- 7:33Speaker 6: Like I couldn't I'd met her a couple of times.
- 7:36Speaker 6: We maybe talked casually, but I couldn't like figure out
- 7:40Speaker 6: why I was getting all these like weird, like weird
- 7:43Speaker 6: vibes off of her. And we like just didn't gel.
- 7:49Speaker 6: And I don't honestly even remember like if we had
- 7:52Speaker 6: anything in common other than we went to Red Robin
- 7:55Speaker 6: and we both seemed like fries.
- 7:57Speaker 2: I have no idea.
- 7:59Speaker 5: That's how Peyton got on zips with her zip baddies.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Yeah, Ziparita will do that to you, though.
- 8:05Speaker 6: So it was just, it was like profoundly uncomfortable. And so,
- 8:10Speaker 6: you know, afterward I told my, now, you know, now
- 8:12Speaker 6: we've been married a long time, my husband. I'm like, okay, wow,
- 8:16Speaker 6: that didn't work out. And then he tells me, oh, yeah,
- 8:20Speaker 6: you know, we went out once, but it was like
- 8:23Speaker 6: four years ago and it didn't.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Really work out with us because we She really was.
- 8:26Speaker 6: You know, interested in my friend Anthony. And I think
- 8:29Speaker 6: she just wanted to like go out with me to
- 8:32Speaker 6: ask me questions about Anthony the whole night. And I
- 8:35Speaker 6: was like, you know, why, why did that not ever
- 8:39Speaker 6: come up? This is a girl that you were interested
- 8:41Speaker 6: enough in to ask out. And then now you're trying
- 8:45Speaker 6: to like push her on me to be a bridesmaid.
- 8:48Speaker 6: It was just, it was, it was profoundly like one
- 8:53Speaker 6: of those awkward situations. I think I've ever felt myself
- 8:56Speaker 6: like I found myself in. And then a few times
- 8:59Speaker 6: we did have to see them like socially afterward. Um,
- 9:02Speaker 6: I just tried to not be like around where she was.
- 9:05Speaker 6: I think I kind of got the vibe that she
- 9:07Speaker 6: was doing the same thing. So.
- 9:09Speaker 1: Okay. That's tough. Making friends as adults. You backed it up. Thanks, Mary.
- 9:13Speaker 6: Yeah, no problem. Thank you.
