- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the almost famous podcast with iHeartRadio. Hey everybody,
- 0:05Speaker 1: this is Trista. You are listening to the almost Famous
- 0:09Speaker 1: OG podcast. And unfortunately my co host can't be here today,
- 0:13Speaker 1: but if he surprises us and is able to come,
- 0:16Speaker 1: that will be amazing. I'm just going to plan on
- 0:19Speaker 1: doing this interview by myself, and it is with Marion Jones,
- 0:23Speaker 1: who is one of my fellow recruits on season three
- 0:27Speaker 1: of Special Forces and one of my favorites. Love this woman,
- 0:32Speaker 1: so many great memories with her on the course. If
- 0:38Speaker 1: you don't recognize her name, you must be living under
- 0:41Speaker 1: a rock because she is a former American track and
- 0:44Speaker 1: field athlete and Olympic gold medalist. She was one of
- 0:49Speaker 1: the most successful sprinters in the late like nineties and
- 0:53Speaker 1: early two thousands. She won five medals, three gold, two bronze,
- 0:59Speaker 1: becoming the first woman to win five track and field
- 1:02Speaker 1: medals at a single Olympics. She did get involved in
- 1:08Speaker 1: controversy when she admitted in two thousand and seven to
- 1:11Speaker 1: using performance enhancing drugs, leading to her Olympic medals being
- 1:16Speaker 1: taken away. Gosh, after all that hard work, I'm really
- 1:21Speaker 1: anxious to talk to her about her feelings and you know,
- 1:26Speaker 1: all kinds of stuff. Anyway, I am really excited to
- 1:29Speaker 1: welcome Marian Jones to the podcast.
- 1:32Speaker 2: You looks so cute in your little pink cats.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Oh thanks. Okay, so let's get into it.
- 1:42Speaker 3: Season three Special Forces best Ever?
- 1:45Speaker 4: Right?
- 1:46Speaker 3: Crazy? Best ever?
- 1:48Speaker 1: Uh? Huh? Had you been asked to do previous seasons?
- 1:54Speaker 1: And when you were asked? What was your initial reaction?
- 1:59Speaker 2: Was not asked to do previous seasons? And I am
- 2:03Speaker 2: so glad Christa that I hadn't really watched the previous
- 2:08Speaker 2: two seasons because I'm not sure I would have agreed
- 2:10Speaker 2: to it. No, you know, I mean the best part
- 2:15Speaker 2: of all of this. I'll just start off by saying,
- 2:17Speaker 2: the best part of all of this was getting a
- 2:19Speaker 2: chance to meet you all and see you all, because
- 2:24Speaker 2: I think the true character of people comes out in
- 2:26Speaker 2: their hardest moments, right, and the world sees all of
- 2:32Speaker 2: us in like these shining moments. But when it really
- 2:38Speaker 2: comes down to it, they picked a group of people
- 2:42Speaker 2: that were so incredible, but more so like incredible together,
- 2:46Speaker 2: Like we're like there was no anything underneath the surface.
- 2:51Speaker 2: What you saw was what you've got in terms of
- 2:54Speaker 2: like team family bonding, camaraderie, respect, and that is what
- 3:00Speaker 2: I get when I reflect on it most out of everything.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Same, same girl, Same.
- 3:07Speaker 1: I feel like that was the main reason that I
- 3:10Speaker 1: wanted to do It was just for the camaraderie to
- 3:12Speaker 1: meet people that I never would have gotten the chance
- 3:14Speaker 1: to meet otherwise. And it really was such a great
- 3:19Speaker 1: group of people.
- 3:21Speaker 3: Just we got so lucky.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean it didn't it didn't matter like who
- 3:26Speaker 2: left the room. You know, like in some situations you're like,
- 3:29Speaker 2: oh no, they're leaving. I am stuck with the rest
- 3:32Speaker 2: of these people. It like that at all. So No,
- 3:38Speaker 2: to answer your original question, just I was not asked
- 3:41Speaker 2: to do the previous seasons. Were you asked to do
- 3:43Speaker 2: the previous season?
- 3:44Speaker 3: No, I wasn't. This was the first time.
- 3:47Speaker 1: How did you feel when they approached you, Like, what
- 3:51Speaker 1: was your initial reaction? Like what like me, I said,
- 3:55Speaker 1: hell no.
- 3:58Speaker 2: Well, my initial reaction was I need to go and
- 4:00Speaker 2: watch the previous two seasons first, and then after that,
- 4:04Speaker 2: I was definitely intrigued because I've had this secret obsession
- 4:09Speaker 2: with Navy seals and I think in another world that
- 4:15Speaker 2: would have really appealed to me, and I would have
- 4:18Speaker 2: been the first woman ever this or you know, I
- 4:21Speaker 2: just really felt like that and so and I was
- 4:24Speaker 2: just kind of looking for looking for a little challenge,
- 4:28Speaker 2: a little extra, something outside of the norm. And I
- 4:32Speaker 2: think as I get older, like that is so necessary
- 4:35Speaker 2: every year of your life, you know, once she hit whatever,
- 4:38Speaker 2: forty five and on, like you have to do something
- 4:41Speaker 2: every year that like challenges you more than just like
- 4:47Speaker 2: doing something new, I mean just like challenge you to
- 4:50Speaker 2: the core, if I can say that. So, after I
- 4:55Speaker 2: saw the first two seasons, I was like, yeah, this.
- 4:59Speaker 3: This it's amazing.
- 5:01Speaker 1: I mean, it really is to me like a once
- 5:04Speaker 1: in a lifetime opportunity. You know, not a lot of
- 5:07Speaker 1: people you can't pay for this kind of stuff. So
- 5:10Speaker 1: that was another reason I was like, this is an
- 5:13Speaker 1: incredible opportunity that I don't take lightly. And I am
- 5:18Speaker 1: so excited and grateful to be part of so and
- 5:20Speaker 1: I know you feel the same way.
- 5:22Speaker 2: But I will tell you, I mean there was a
- 5:23Speaker 2: little anxiousness, I suppose on who they were going to
- 5:28Speaker 2: put together, right, because they can totally do their doomsday
- 5:32Speaker 2: magic by putting together sixteen people whom they know for
- 5:36Speaker 2: whatever reason, like different views or who they sent themselves
- 5:43Speaker 2: to be that could have clashed, which would be good TV, right,
- 5:46Speaker 2: and ultimately we know that's what they're looking for, is
- 5:49Speaker 2: good TV. But it wasn't like that at all. It
- 5:52Speaker 2: wasn't like that one bit.
- 5:54Speaker 1: No, I totally agree. One of my favorite memories and
- 5:58Speaker 1: I'd love for you to share one of your is.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Well.
- 6:02Speaker 3: I have two and I've told you.
- 6:04Speaker 1: I think I've told you this, and yeah, I said,
- 6:07Speaker 1: you're You're part of two of my favorite memories. One
- 6:11Speaker 1: was we were in the in the vehicle. It was me, you, Jordan,
- 6:14Speaker 1: and Kayla, and you said, can I say a prayer
- 6:20Speaker 1: for us? And we all were like, yes please, and
- 6:26Speaker 1: you said the most beautiful prayer and I just oh,
- 6:29Speaker 1: it just grounded me and made me feel like, Okay,
- 6:33Speaker 1: we got this, you know we can do this.
- 6:35Speaker 3: Just thank you for that. The second one.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Wash for buds Buds training on the beach. We were
- 6:46Speaker 1: both exhausted, and I want you to talk. We'll talk
- 6:50Speaker 1: a little bit about that. But at the end of
- 6:54Speaker 1: that exercise, that task, both of us were pretty much
- 6:59Speaker 1: at the end. I think we were both we were
- 7:01Speaker 1: we were taking up the caboose and and.
- 7:06Speaker 3: You were right ahead of me in the water.
- 7:08Speaker 1: We were walking like we had to run along the
- 7:10Speaker 1: beach and then walk through the water and run along
- 7:13Speaker 1: the beach and walk through the water. And I ran
- 7:17Speaker 1: up to you and grabbed your hand and I'm like,
- 7:19Speaker 1: I just need to hold somebody's hand right now, and
- 7:22Speaker 1: she's right there.
- 7:23Speaker 3: I'm reaching out for you and you didn't let go,
- 7:25Speaker 3: So thank you for that.
- 7:26Speaker 2: Well, let's let's and I'll share what my favorite memories are.
- 7:30Speaker 2: But I'm going to just reflect a moment on what
- 7:31Speaker 2: you just shared, so you know, it's it's no secret
- 7:35Speaker 2: that there have been some tough times in my space
- 7:38Speaker 2: and in my world, and I have really learned that
- 7:43Speaker 2: when you can do nothing about your situation, right like
- 7:47Speaker 2: we're there. We made the choice to be like, we
- 7:49Speaker 2: literally made the choice to be there, and without really
- 7:53Speaker 2: knowing what to expect. But always I've always always always
- 7:57Speaker 2: found that by reaching out and asking for guidance and
- 8:01Speaker 2: just protection, like he never lets us down, right, yes,
- 8:05Speaker 2: and we were able to get through it. And I
- 8:08Speaker 2: don't know, it's always just been my sense of comfort
- 8:10Speaker 2: and I always ask always because you know, people believe differently,
- 8:14Speaker 2: And it was so comforting to be in that space,
- 8:18Speaker 2: in that moment of discomfort with three other badass women
- 8:22Speaker 2: who you know, we're like, yeah, we're we're badass in
- 8:26Speaker 2: all and we can do some amazing things, but sometimes
- 8:28Speaker 2: we need a little bit of extra, and in that moment,
- 8:32Speaker 2: a little bit of extra, And I'm so glad that
- 8:35Speaker 2: it brought comfort to everybody. And oh gosh, that that
- 8:40Speaker 2: darn beach scene there. We couldn't, we couldn't. It's just funny,
- 8:44Speaker 2: I will we will. Let me set it up a
- 8:46Speaker 2: little bit by sharing that by that point in the show,
- 8:50Speaker 2: we were pretty much exhausted of anything water related, right, like,
- 8:54Speaker 2: of course everybody has seen the initial push us off
- 8:57Speaker 2: the boat when we're not expecting it to get the
- 9:00Speaker 2: most like what the what the f reaction from all
- 9:04Speaker 2: of us, And so from there you think, Okay, there's
- 9:08Speaker 2: probably not gonna be too many more water scenes, especially
- 9:12Speaker 2: based off of the previous seasons. And then of course
- 9:15Speaker 2: you have the I don't even know the specific names
- 9:18Speaker 2: of them, Trista, but the one we're all drowning in
- 9:20Speaker 2: the pool. Of course we have that.
- 9:21Speaker 3: That's the behive.
- 9:24Speaker 2: And then after that there's trauma and there's all kinds
- 9:28Speaker 2: of anxiety and we're saying to ourselves there's no way, Yes,
- 9:33Speaker 2: there's no way they're going to put any of us
- 9:35Speaker 2: through any of that. And then you have to go
- 9:37Speaker 2: out there and the sand part of it all, and.
- 9:43Speaker 5: The the temperature trista of the water, the facts that
- 9:50Speaker 5: and in reflection, like you understand why they do it
- 9:53Speaker 5: in these combat training missions, right, like you have to
- 9:58Speaker 5: learn to rely on your people, right, and.
- 10:01Speaker 2: The idea that our arms had to be locked like
- 10:04Speaker 2: and remember they were yelling at us when we would
- 10:07Speaker 2: loosen up the grip a little bit to to be
- 10:10Speaker 2: able to own our own body, and they would be like,
- 10:15Speaker 2: And I was connected to Landing on one side and
- 10:19Speaker 2: Alana on the other side. And they're big people, right
- 10:23Speaker 2: that can use the momentum of their weight to go forward.
- 10:27Speaker 2: And I'm sure I weighed more than both of them combined.
- 10:32Speaker 2: So I'm trying to thrust I'm trying to thrust my
- 10:36Speaker 2: feet forward a lot of stuck backwards in the water.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Landing's doing a flip. I was just like done, and
- 10:44Speaker 2: then this hair was all in my face and my
- 10:48Speaker 2: arms are I can't even get it out, Like my
- 10:50Speaker 2: locks are going up in my nose, they're going in
- 10:53Speaker 2: my mouth.
- 10:53Speaker 4: It was a.
- 10:54Speaker 2: Mess, and you know, they just beat you down and
- 10:59Speaker 2: beat you down, and you reaching out for me was
- 11:02Speaker 2: as much of a comfort to me as maybe it
- 11:05Speaker 2: was to you to know that, all right, okay, like
- 11:09Speaker 2: I'm not the only one that really is suck wind
- 11:12Speaker 2: and questioning all life decisions at that moment. Totally, totally,
- 11:18Speaker 2: the warmth of your hand, the genuineness of your ass.
- 11:22Speaker 2: It was just simply like there was nothing more that
- 11:24Speaker 2: you need it out of it than to have like
- 11:27Speaker 2: human touch, like somebody, because what they do is they
- 11:30Speaker 2: turn you so much against them almost each other, because
- 11:35Speaker 2: I start getting mad at the people whom I'm connecting to,
- 11:38Speaker 2: right like like we got to do this in sanc
- 11:40Speaker 2: we got to be on rhythm and you this like
- 11:43Speaker 2: like hateful feeling inside of you, and so you reaching out.
- 11:47Speaker 2: And however it transpired me saying to myself, okay, pause, breed,
- 11:54Speaker 2: not literally pause or else we've got cursed at but
- 12:00Speaker 2: like somebody is right here and they're championing for you
- 12:03Speaker 2: and we're in this together. And yeah, it got me
- 12:06Speaker 2: through it. But you know, there were so many moments
- 12:09Speaker 2: that just really make me smile and giggle. I there
- 12:15Speaker 2: was one moment, and a lot of them were not captured, right,
- 12:18Speaker 2: Like I shouldn't say that they were all captured, but
- 12:21Speaker 2: a lot of them weren't, you know, edited into the
- 12:23Speaker 2: final show. But some of our moments in the in
- 12:28Speaker 2: the sauna heating room whatever we're calling it that they
- 12:32Speaker 2: pulled us supposed are the drawing room.
- 12:35Speaker 3: I think somebody it's in the warming room. I think
- 12:37Speaker 3: it's the warming room.
- 12:38Speaker 2: I heard also somebody called it the drawing room because
- 12:40Speaker 2: we're supposed to dry our clothes, which is the biggest
- 12:44Speaker 2: lie in the history of Hollywood. I'd really right. And
- 12:52Speaker 2: that's where you started to see people's like like, oh,
- 12:56Speaker 2: like I've to fend for myself this, like because the
- 13:00Speaker 2: amount of clothes that were by the heaters and how
- 13:03Speaker 2: things were being moved away, and all of a sudden,
- 13:05Speaker 2: like I put my socks right over the heater and
- 13:09Speaker 2: when I came back two hours ago, it was like
- 13:11Speaker 2: tossed in the corner.
- 13:12Speaker 1: Like totally, you can't find your clothes, like if you
- 13:16Speaker 1: go in there to find them, especially when it's like
- 13:19Speaker 1: a chaotic time and they're like yelling at us to hurry, Gosh,
- 13:22Speaker 1: it's impossible.
- 13:24Speaker 2: But one of the moments that was the most special
- 13:28Speaker 2: to me are were our times in there. I don't
- 13:32Speaker 2: know if we thought that that was like like confidential
- 13:37Speaker 2: confessional where nobody was hearing. I don't know. I think
- 13:40Speaker 2: we all forgot that everything that we said and did
- 13:42Speaker 2: was being recorded. But the genuine moments in there where
- 13:46Speaker 2: I think we were experiencing a little bit of comfort
- 13:49Speaker 2: with the heat, a moment of downtime where we can
- 13:54Speaker 2: breathe and reflect and cry and laugh and pray and
- 13:59Speaker 2: be comforted. And I had come back from what I'm
- 14:02Speaker 2: calling confessional, and you don't really where to turn when
- 14:06Speaker 2: you come back when I when I came back from that, right,
- 14:09Speaker 2: So I went into the heating room and Cam was
- 14:11Speaker 2: in there, and you know he's People have asked me
- 14:16Speaker 2: like so much about Cam, Yeah, like tell me about himy,
- 14:20Speaker 2: Like is he is he a mean guy? Right? Because
- 14:23Speaker 2: the show has did a little bit of like making
- 14:27Speaker 2: him look like he's this aggressive, which we all know
- 14:31Speaker 2: he is so far the opposite of the biggest teddy bear,
- 14:35Speaker 2: the warmest, most genuine And he just gave me a hug,
- 14:39Speaker 2: and I just felt like this this massive dude, just
- 14:43Speaker 2: like Bill m J. You're good like and that thing
- 14:47Speaker 2: else and that was one of the moments that stood out.
- 14:53Speaker 2: A second moment of mine was after our beach fiasco
- 14:57Speaker 2: and I think I was in a in the truck
- 15:00Speaker 2: with Nathan.
- 15:02Speaker 3: And after the beach.
- 15:07Speaker 2: Klea was old and golden, and I was done, like
- 15:11Speaker 2: I was starting to like have a little bit of hypothermia.
- 15:15Speaker 2: I was starting you know, you were.
- 15:17Speaker 1: Not starting to have a little bit of hypothermia. You
- 15:20Speaker 1: were hypothermic right along with me. It just in another car.
- 15:23Speaker 2: I was trying to stay warm, and I just started
- 15:27Speaker 2: to like not pass out, but yes, like lose a
- 15:31Speaker 2: little bit of like cognitive stuff happening and go like
- 15:36Speaker 2: everybody in there was just like to the producers, to
- 15:39Speaker 2: everybody like okay, like enough of like this is the show.
- 15:44Speaker 2: We need to pause, we need to bring medical here.
- 15:47Speaker 2: To the point where Kayla was was crying right And
- 15:51Speaker 2: when they came back, they gave me a little sugar
- 15:54Speaker 2: to kind of get my blood sugar back up, and
- 15:58Speaker 2: like that was like again and another moment. I've never
- 16:01Speaker 2: had any type of hypothermia or panic or any of them.
- 16:06Speaker 2: But to see my teammates and my my I call
- 16:10Speaker 2: my family now like to say, you know what, like,
- 16:13Speaker 2: this is not a show, this is real life, and
- 16:16Speaker 2: you all need to do something. And I'm so sad
- 16:19Speaker 2: that they edited that part out, and I think for reasons,
- 16:24Speaker 2: but it really showed empathy amongst my castmates. And I mean,
- 16:33Speaker 2: it's just a special moment. And again, my moments that
- 16:37Speaker 2: stand out for me and Trista are the moments of
- 16:40Speaker 2: bonding and camaraderie. And although the moments that they showed
- 16:44Speaker 2: aren't intense and they're aggressive, what I take away from
- 16:48Speaker 2: it is just an incredible warming sense of family that
- 16:52Speaker 2: they put together these complete strangers and we figured out
- 16:55Speaker 2: a way how to just crush it. Crush it in
- 16:58Speaker 2: a good way, meaning know humanity, that you can have
- 17:02Speaker 2: so many different personalities and people and levels of success,
- 17:06Speaker 2: and we figure out how to live together, a fight together,
- 17:13Speaker 2: function together, and just create something beautiful. So that's my
- 17:17Speaker 2: takeaway from it all.
- 17:19Speaker 3: I love it.
- 17:30Speaker 1: So let's talk about that that after the beach a
- 17:33Speaker 1: little bit, because Okay, so I'm in a car with
- 17:36Speaker 1: Christy and Cam. You're in the car with Kayla and
- 17:41Speaker 1: Nathan and Nate Golden, and I go through what happened
- 17:46Speaker 1: to me and seems like we were very much in
- 17:51Speaker 1: similar places. But I was always conscious, like I was
- 17:57Speaker 1: what did Kayla call it? Unresponsive? Was always responsive. So
- 18:02Speaker 1: I get warmed by Christy like they have me on
- 18:05Speaker 1: their lap, you know, wrapped me up blankets or coats
- 18:09Speaker 1: and tons of coats.
- 18:11Speaker 3: Are on top of me.
- 18:12Speaker 1: Finally get my clothes changed and I'm okay, and I'm
- 18:15Speaker 1: I'm warming up more. They open the door and Kayla
- 18:19Speaker 1: comes in and she was like a shell of herself,
- 18:23Speaker 1: Like I was like, what is wrong?
- 18:25Speaker 3: Like what haed?
- 18:26Speaker 1: Like she she was not there. She was like totally crying.
- 18:31Speaker 1: Same and at first she would not talk and I
- 18:35Speaker 1: was like, what is happening? And she finally she was like,
- 18:38Speaker 1: Marian is unresponsive. Like they made us leave so the
- 18:41Speaker 1: medics could like finally take care of her, and she's
- 18:43Speaker 1: like I kept asking. I kept asking for help. I
- 18:46Speaker 1: kept asking for help, and the medics were just I
- 18:49Speaker 1: don't know, because we had already left, Like it's not
- 18:53Speaker 1: like they were we were all still at the beach exit.
- 18:57Speaker 1: We were we had already been on the road for
- 18:58Speaker 1: a bit. So I think that's what happened. But talk
- 19:03Speaker 1: to me about what was going through your mind, like
- 19:07Speaker 1: was it was it fear? Was it tell me about
- 19:10Speaker 1: what was going on?
- 19:11Speaker 2: It's always for me about fear of failure, Like that
- 19:15Speaker 2: is my overriding thing. Failure to myself, failure to my family,
- 19:22Speaker 2: my kids, all my supporters right pull in for me,
- 19:26Speaker 2: you know, folks that see me and my journey and
- 19:33Speaker 2: use it for like motivation and inspiration, right. And my
- 19:39Speaker 2: fear that like I didn't live up to what I
- 19:43Speaker 2: know I could even even if it was out of
- 19:49Speaker 2: my control. Right, So I think that was that was
- 19:52Speaker 2: huge for me. The panic just took over because I
- 19:58Speaker 2: couldn't control my temperature, Like I couldn't get warm, which
- 20:02Speaker 2: was a fear of mind going into this all in
- 20:05Speaker 2: all of it is that like how to control myself
- 20:08Speaker 2: when I get cold, because I don't do very well
- 20:10Speaker 2: in the cold, let alone. You put water with that, right,
- 20:14Speaker 2: So that was like I can get I can be
- 20:16Speaker 2: in shape going there and like all of those type
- 20:19Speaker 2: of things, but you put water and cold and like stress,
- 20:24Speaker 2: I don't I don't know that world, and so I
- 20:26Speaker 2: don't know how my body would react to it. Now
- 20:29Speaker 2: I know, like I just couldn't get warm, and I
- 20:32Speaker 2: mean even with big Nate Warm, Nathan and Golden and
- 20:36Speaker 2: Kayla like giving me all of their stuff right and
- 20:40Speaker 2: throwing it on me, and like I just I just
- 20:42Speaker 2: kept shivering shivering until I just I don't remember a
- 20:46Speaker 2: certain little point of it all. And yeah, I can
- 20:51Speaker 2: remember like kind of just like where am I the
- 20:54Speaker 2: medic giving me some sugar? Kaylk do just bawling and mad.
- 20:58Speaker 2: Not only was she just was she crying, but she
- 21:01Speaker 2: was mad. She was mad at the show for not
- 21:05Speaker 2: having quicker access to the medics, y and in essence
- 21:11Speaker 2: like them having to deal with that because that's trauma,
- 21:15Speaker 2: even that's trauma for them, like what to do? Like
- 21:19Speaker 2: I can remember for a little while, Kayla's like what God,
- 21:21Speaker 2: what do we do? What do we do? And I'm
- 21:24Speaker 2: just like, well, I'm not saying anything but just shivering.
- 21:27Speaker 2: I can't really say anything. And so what I take
- 21:30Speaker 2: away from that is just, man like, how can we
- 21:35Speaker 2: learn to navigate those type of situations? Like what could
- 21:40Speaker 2: I have done in that situation right to control maybe
- 21:45Speaker 2: my breathing. I've gone over so many different things tresses
- 21:49Speaker 2: since the show on what I could have done to
- 21:52Speaker 2: better prepare right, Yeah, and physically not a lot, right,
- 21:58Speaker 2: I mean, knowing some of the challenge would have helped,
- 22:00Speaker 2: but we didn't. I did what I could do in
- 22:02Speaker 2: terms of aerobic capacity, but maybe some like breathing techniques
- 22:09Speaker 2: you know, you know in the cold or in the heat,
- 22:12Speaker 2: because I mean we did know that we were going
- 22:15Speaker 2: to be in whales. That was about the only information
- 22:17Speaker 2: that we knew. We knew that it was going to
- 22:19Speaker 2: be colder, and we knew there was gonna be some water,
- 22:22Speaker 2: So maybe some like even some of the did you
- 22:26Speaker 2: receive Trista some workouts beforehand loose working?
- 22:32Speaker 3: Yeah, right, I did.
- 22:35Speaker 2: I did, which I don't think did anything to prepare
- 22:38Speaker 2: any of us for any of that, but you know,
- 22:41Speaker 2: for the future castmates of the show, like definitely being
- 22:46Speaker 2: confident with like bringing your heart rate down and focusing
- 22:51Speaker 2: on your breathing and different meditation type practices that you
- 22:55Speaker 2: can you know, incorporate in all of that.
- 22:58Speaker 3: But yeah, great advice.
- 23:01Speaker 2: And then the fact that they I mean to me,
- 23:04Speaker 2: it's kind of good TV, all right, Like looking from
- 23:06Speaker 2: the outside in right, you had killing Nicole bawling. You
- 23:11Speaker 2: have these two strong athletes in Golden and Nathan like
- 23:16Speaker 2: almost panicking, I'm sure, like what do we do? What
- 23:19Speaker 2: do we do? And so my take on and then Trista,
- 23:23Speaker 2: I want you to share with me what yours are.
- 23:25Speaker 2: Like my take in why it wasn't potentially edited in
- 23:29Speaker 2: is because like it started to become more than what
- 23:34Speaker 2: I think they anticipated it for, like like unnecessarily brutal. Right,
- 23:44Speaker 2: And it's a fine line that I think they had
- 23:47Speaker 2: to walk in terms of what they're going to show
- 23:49Speaker 2: the world like what it really was.
- 23:53Speaker 6: And it potentially doesn't look so good for them the show, right, right,
- 24:01Speaker 6: that if you show all.
- 24:02Speaker 2: Of the moments that were just unnecessarily brutal.
- 24:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I get it. I know you get
- 24:11Speaker 1: it too, Like there's a reason that they're doing all this,
- 24:14Speaker 1: and you know, they kept saying, this is stuff that
- 24:17Speaker 1: we've been through. We're putting you through the real deal.
- 24:20Speaker 1: And I know that the budstraining on the beach was
- 24:23Speaker 1: the real deal. Like they legitimately do that and push
- 24:28Speaker 1: you to your limit. And at one point I almost
- 24:31Speaker 1: gave up, and Rudy was like, because I thought I
- 24:34Speaker 1: was gonna faint and my body was starting to you know,
- 24:37Speaker 1: give up on me, and he was like, well, you
- 24:40Speaker 1: have to give me your armband and I'm like, I'm
- 24:41Speaker 1: not ready to leave, so they just keep pushing you,
- 24:44Speaker 1: which I appreciate now, but yeah, I feel like it
- 24:49Speaker 1: was it was brutal.
- 24:51Speaker 3: Like that's the perfect word. It was brutal.
- 24:54Speaker 2: It's brutal with a group of people. It's brutal for
- 24:57Speaker 2: those that have made the decision to go into that line,
- 25:02Speaker 2: into that career path, right, Yeah, who have researched, maybe
- 25:09Speaker 2: they had people in their family, maybe they've even been
- 25:12Speaker 2: in the military forum a number of years to slowly
- 25:16Speaker 2: prepare them for that. But then you have sixteen individuals
- 25:20Speaker 2: with zero background in that type of training. And so
- 25:24Speaker 2: that's when I when I talk about you get to
- 25:26Speaker 2: the fine line of how much can you, like should
- 25:29Speaker 2: you give them even if it looks like how and
- 25:34Speaker 2: what they've been through.
- 25:36Speaker 3: Yeah, you would never just take.
- 25:37Speaker 2: Anybody off the street and like put them and put
- 25:42Speaker 2: them through it. Yeah, throw them in that pool and
- 25:45Speaker 2: expect them to tread water with whatever temperature water and trampling.
- 25:50Speaker 2: You wouldn't do that.
- 25:51Speaker 3: It's intense, that is for sure.
- 25:53Speaker 1: I Mean, we signed up for it, and you know,
- 25:55Speaker 1: Q kept reminding me of that you signed up for this.
- 25:58Speaker 3: You you can go home, should go home.
- 26:02Speaker 2: I loved how Rudy and you know, we can get
- 26:05Speaker 2: to this, uh in regards to all of the DS's
- 26:10Speaker 2: and staff and all that, but a few of them
- 26:13Speaker 2: just had a way of making you feel like you
- 26:18Speaker 2: can still do it, like in their way, right did
- 26:21Speaker 2: you who of wore? If you can say, did you
- 26:25Speaker 2: feel like that? Like when they talked to you, Yeah,
- 26:27Speaker 2: they had to be stern and hard and aggressive, but
- 26:31Speaker 2: you can sense a little tone in them like okay,
- 26:35Speaker 2: I need to say this, I'm going to say this,
- 26:38Speaker 2: but like you know, for me, it was definitely Rudy.
- 26:42Speaker 3: Same same time.
- 26:43Speaker 1: Yeah, yep, well especially so after I try I almost
- 26:48Speaker 1: be wed from feeling like I was gonna faint on
- 26:50Speaker 1: the beach and I didn't. I had my mirror room
- 26:54Speaker 1: when we when I got back after the hypothermia and stuff,
- 26:59Speaker 1: and and they didn't show that. But what they also
- 27:03Speaker 1: didn't show is Rudy was the one who put the
- 27:07Speaker 1: hood over my head and walked me up to mirror
- 27:11Speaker 1: room and then back down. And once he walked me
- 27:15Speaker 1: back down and took off my hood, he said, I'm
- 27:19Speaker 1: really proud of you. I thought you were going to
- 27:21Speaker 1: leave today and I'm so proud of you for choosing
- 27:25Speaker 1: not to and pushing past that and you know, go
- 27:28Speaker 1: get some sleep and sleep on, you know, sleep on
- 27:31Speaker 1: all of this. And I felt I felt that I
- 27:35Speaker 1: felt the support. And that's kind of one of the
- 27:38Speaker 1: reasons that I wanted to get to a mirror room interview,
- 27:40Speaker 1: because I feel like they connect with you more on
- 27:43Speaker 1: like a human level than just the you know, being staff,
- 27:48Speaker 1: you know, being our ds and and so I I
- 27:52Speaker 1: really loved the mirror room parts for me. I'm sure
- 27:58Speaker 1: you had a mirror room too. Did you feel was
- 28:02Speaker 1: Rudy part of that or when did you feel that
- 28:05Speaker 1: support from Rudy?
- 28:06Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 28:07Speaker 2: I felt it, you know in all of the missions
- 28:12Speaker 2: that we did, when there was any interaction with with me,
- 28:16Speaker 2: he was just I don't I don't mind anybody being
- 28:18Speaker 2: stern but fair.
- 28:21Speaker 3: Yeah, right, I am.
- 28:23Speaker 2: I am so on that kick right where like you
- 28:26Speaker 2: can yell, you can curse, you can scream, but be fair.
- 28:30Speaker 2: And there were moments where I just felt like some
- 28:33Speaker 2: of the staff weren't fair. And I get it again, right,
- 28:37Speaker 2: like in combat and training it doesn't need to be
- 28:40Speaker 2: so sweet and I'm not looking for that, but I
- 28:45Speaker 2: felt like c he walked me to the mirror room,
- 28:49Speaker 2: and I could sense it's not necessarily what he said,
- 28:53Speaker 2: it's like how we did it, like when I had it,
- 28:55Speaker 2: because you know, I'm much taller than him. Yeah, when
- 28:58Speaker 2: he had to put the thing over my head, just
- 29:01Speaker 2: the way that he said it like all right, like
- 29:04Speaker 2: you know I can't reach up there, like ah, that's funny,
- 29:08Speaker 2: you know, and even walking me when we're all very
- 29:11Speaker 2: stiff because we're blindfolded, and the comfort like how he
- 29:16Speaker 2: held I don't know how he held my arm or something.
- 29:19Speaker 2: You could just sense there was a little like like
- 29:22Speaker 2: this is my man conference to you that you can
- 29:25Speaker 2: do this.
- 29:26Speaker 3: Yeah, totally.
- 29:28Speaker 2: In the mirror room, I thought Rudy was it was fair. Yeah,
- 29:34Speaker 2: And I knew going into it that there were certain
- 29:36Speaker 2: things that were going to be asked and that they
- 29:38Speaker 2: were going to say things to trigger us, like we
- 29:40Speaker 2: are all prepared for that type of stuff. But I
- 29:43Speaker 2: think how they put it all together was was fairly solid.
- 29:49Speaker 2: In my case, they allowed me to share what I
- 29:55Speaker 2: wanted to share. And I think all of us, I
- 29:58Speaker 2: mean you cut you, all of us, I would imagine
- 30:02Speaker 2: want the mirror room because it us gives us a
- 30:05Speaker 2: space to share to like, this is who I am,
- 30:09Speaker 2: this is why I'm here, this is what I struggle with.
- 30:12Speaker 2: And so I can understand some of us that didn't
- 30:15Speaker 2: get that opportunity, who might be a little you know,
- 30:18Speaker 2: not as happy about the situation. But I took my
- 30:23Speaker 2: time in the mirror room away as okay, Like I
- 30:26Speaker 2: got to share what I wanted to share and it
- 30:29Speaker 2: was worth it.
- 30:29Speaker 1: Yeah, let's get into that a little bit. You know,
- 30:42Speaker 1: the controversy with the performance enhancing drugs, and you talked
- 30:47Speaker 1: about that in the mirror room, and I don't know
- 30:50Speaker 1: if you talked about it on the show or in interviews, but.
- 30:53Speaker 3: You talked about how well.
- 30:56Speaker 1: Just now you said you don't want to let people down.
- 30:58Speaker 1: You know you mentioned that letting you know your family down.
- 31:02Speaker 1: How how did you how did you deal or how
- 31:06Speaker 1: have you dealt with that feeling of guilt that you
- 31:10Speaker 1: let people down in that moment.
- 31:12Speaker 2: That has been trust So that has been a constant
- 31:21Speaker 2: visit the therapy. So you know, it's this idea that
- 31:27Speaker 2: I I know that so many people, family and friends
- 31:35Speaker 2: and the light they look to athletes, they look to
- 31:43Speaker 2: celebrities to get them away from their their worlds sometimes
- 31:51Speaker 2: that are not so pleasant, and I don't take that lightly.
- 31:55Speaker 2: And so the idea that so many people in that
- 31:59Speaker 2: sea of my life looked to me as a source
- 32:05Speaker 2: of inspiration, right, and the media embraced that, right, and
- 32:11Speaker 2: they put me on this pedestal, which at the time
- 32:16Speaker 2: you're grateful for, right, like you're grateful for the cover
- 32:19Speaker 2: of magazines and for all of the fame, fortune, all that.
- 32:25Speaker 2: And so for me, for someone that doesn't take that
- 32:30Speaker 2: lightly to have in ess, it's been the cause of
- 32:36Speaker 2: letting people, so many people down, right, Like, it has
- 32:41Speaker 2: been hard, and it's it's been quite the journey Trista
- 32:44Speaker 2: to finally say, you know what, right like, I'm wiping
- 32:49Speaker 2: my hands clean of it, meaning I have been through it.
- 32:56Speaker 2: I admit it and apologize that poor choices were made
- 33:00Speaker 2: in my twenties. And I say that not to use
- 33:03Speaker 2: it as an excuse, but to give it all context,
- 33:06Speaker 2: right when people are so busy like pointing and saying, hey,
- 33:09Speaker 2: you shouldn't have done that. And in moments, I'll say, okay,
- 33:13Speaker 2: let's backtrack to you in your late teens and early twenties,
- 33:19Speaker 2: and let's say that you were given a lot of money, right,
- 33:23Speaker 2: and you were surrounded with people who would what I
- 33:26Speaker 2: call trista yes people. They were going to say yes
- 33:29Speaker 2: to anything you asked for. They were going to tell
- 33:31Speaker 2: you how great you are. They were going to patch
- 33:33Speaker 2: you on the back. And you have surrounded yourself with
- 33:36Speaker 2: this group of people, and you are encountered with the
- 33:40Speaker 2: with the moments in time I call it less than
- 33:44Speaker 2: thirty seconds where you have to make a quick decision
- 33:47Speaker 2: about what potentially your future will look like. And you
- 33:51Speaker 2: just make the wrong choice and you told a lie, right,
- 33:56Speaker 2: you know, I you know, if people can easily point
- 33:59Speaker 2: the finger and all that, and do I wish things
- 34:03Speaker 2: could be different? Yes? And no, trist I'm going to
- 34:05Speaker 2: tell you because I've learned so much about myself, I
- 34:08Speaker 2: think that my story now is so much more I
- 34:14Speaker 2: don't know, I don't want to say compelling. But it
- 34:17Speaker 2: running fast from here to there, I'm sure inspired a
- 34:21Speaker 2: lot of people, right, Yeah, But the idea that somebody
- 34:26Speaker 2: who could run that fast and have that much fame
- 34:29Speaker 2: and fortune and popularity could make a poor choice, lose
- 34:34Speaker 2: it all and then decide, you know what, I Am
- 34:37Speaker 2: not going to disappear right that my story can help you,
- 34:41Speaker 2: that my story can still inspire. And so I'm at
- 34:43Speaker 2: this point in my life Trista where I think that
- 34:46Speaker 2: what I've been through, what I share, what I do
- 34:48Speaker 2: now helps people more than how fast I can run
- 34:52Speaker 2: and how many metals I could run. And that's my
- 34:53Speaker 2: personal opinion, but that's what I say, you know, like
- 34:57Speaker 2: I wish I could go back there. You know, I
- 35:00Speaker 2: also think that my God, our God doesn't give us
- 35:04Speaker 2: more than we can handle. And so that actually makes
- 35:07Speaker 2: me feel good because wow, I've been through some stuff
- 35:10Speaker 2: and he still knows that this was going to be
- 35:12Speaker 2: the path, and he still loves me, and he's still
- 35:14Speaker 2: right like embraces me. So I'm here for it all.
- 35:18Speaker 2: It's not easy. It's not easy being me. It's not
- 35:20Speaker 2: easy having to share the story because people want to
- 35:23Speaker 2: know a story, they want to give it context. And
- 35:25Speaker 2: as much as I would like to just like be
- 35:28Speaker 2: forward moving and forward talking trists and not have to
- 35:32Speaker 2: talk about the hardest moment in my life, I also
- 35:35Speaker 2: know I need to give it context. But at almost
- 35:38Speaker 2: the age of fifty, I'm not willing to dedicate an
- 35:42Speaker 2: entire interview to it. Right I now, enter like these
- 35:47Speaker 2: settings or when we talk or whatever. I entering with
- 35:51Speaker 2: my own agenda when I was in my twenties and thirties,
- 35:54Speaker 2: I'm like, oh, what do you want to talk about? Like,
- 35:57Speaker 2: whatever you want to talk about, I will talk about
- 36:00Speaker 2: it anymore, right, And I make sure that my team
- 36:02Speaker 2: and people know I get it. I will touch on it.
- 36:05Speaker 2: Most people know the story. For me, it's like just
- 36:08Speaker 2: what I tell my clients and the people like. It's
- 36:10Speaker 2: got to be forward thinking. We cannot stay stuck in
- 36:14Speaker 2: our crap, right, and even me constantly talking about it
- 36:20Speaker 2: and dedicating entire hour plus interviews to it, that's getting
- 36:24Speaker 2: stuck in my crap. And I'm not there anymore.
- 36:27Speaker 1: So totally, you want to get out of that crap.
- 36:30Speaker 1: I already lived it. I don't need to.
- 36:32Speaker 3: But I will.
- 36:33Speaker 1: Say I think it's I think it's beautiful that you're
- 36:35Speaker 1: using it to inspire people more because really, truly, you
- 36:39Speaker 1: can't see the light without the darkness, like you know,
- 36:42Speaker 1: so I feel like it gives you perspective of just
- 36:48Speaker 1: and gratitude I would assume for the life that you
- 36:51Speaker 1: have now. And and one more question on it, and
- 36:55Speaker 1: then we will not talk about it anymore. But your
- 36:58Speaker 1: kids were tiny when when it happened. Have you talked
- 37:02Speaker 1: to them about it and do you share kind of
- 37:05Speaker 1: the same message with them that you would share with
- 37:08Speaker 1: all of us. How has that been?
- 37:11Speaker 2: I have three beautiful kids now they're older now, of course,
- 37:15Speaker 2: two of them out of the house. One of them
- 37:18Speaker 2: I have a teenage daughter who's fifteen going on thirty five.
- 37:22Speaker 3: Yeah, I have one of those.
- 37:26Speaker 2: And I made the decision to of course share everything
- 37:32Speaker 2: with them, but share it in a way that they
- 37:35Speaker 2: could understand it through doing rights and good and creating
- 37:39Speaker 2: lessons in it in certain moments of their childhood, and
- 37:44Speaker 2: of course making sure they know the whole story so
- 37:47Speaker 2: that when they're of age and they're now, and of
- 37:50Speaker 2: course we have social media now and they could potentially
- 37:53Speaker 2: be asked or they see stuff, they know everything. They
- 37:57Speaker 2: know the real story and how to handle it. I've
- 38:00Speaker 2: like the big part of it for me, Trista, and
- 38:03Speaker 2: why I stepped away for almost a decade and decided
- 38:08Speaker 2: to just be their mom, create a community around my
- 38:13Speaker 2: family that was loving and supportive, and figure out, like
- 38:16Speaker 2: what I wanted to do. I have, you know, this
- 38:18Speaker 2: passion for fitness and helping people and motivating and all
- 38:22Speaker 2: that type of stuff and and mindset coaching, like how
- 38:25Speaker 2: am I going to develop that? And I need to
- 38:27Speaker 2: do all of that away from the spotlight. So it's
- 38:30Speaker 2: a choice that I made for like a decade until
- 38:33Speaker 2: they were at a certain age where I was comfortable
- 38:37Speaker 2: slowly putting my foot back into it all in that hey, like,
- 38:41Speaker 2: people need to hear that once you make the poor choice, Trista, like,
- 38:47Speaker 2: you don't disappear like you could get through it. We
- 38:50Speaker 2: all go through tough times, and there needs to be
- 38:53Speaker 2: somebody out there that potentially is a living example of that.
- 38:57Speaker 2: Like people our age remember everything. They remember my successes,
- 39:02Speaker 2: They remember the cover of Vogue, you know, they remember
- 39:05Speaker 2: winning the gold medals and all of that and the
- 39:08Speaker 2: golden girl of that age. And those people also remember
- 39:11Speaker 2: if you lived through that time when everything crashed right
- 39:16Speaker 2: and I and I. People need to see that once
- 39:19Speaker 2: those things happen, potentially not at the level that I
- 39:23Speaker 2: crashed right or all of that, but in their own world,
- 39:27Speaker 2: that it doesn't have to be done. Your life doesn't
- 39:30Speaker 2: have to be done. You can rebrand, you can rename yourself,
- 39:33Speaker 2: you can create. What I think I have done is
- 39:36Speaker 2: create your own narrative and not be told this is
- 39:39Speaker 2: your narrative, this is gonna be your story, right and period. Nope,
- 39:43Speaker 2: all right, dot dot dot, my story continues. And if
- 39:47Speaker 2: you're a fan, great, if you're not, it's okay too.
- 39:51Speaker 3: Totally, totally, Oh my gosh.
- 39:53Speaker 1: I love that perspective, seriously, I and I have to
- 39:58Speaker 1: tell you when and I saw you being on the show,
- 40:03Speaker 1: I didn't even once think about the controversy.
- 40:09Speaker 3: All I thought about.
- 40:11Speaker 1: Was how you were such a huge inspiration to so
- 40:16Speaker 1: many people at the Olympics. So all I saw when
- 40:19Speaker 1: I saw you was positive, Like I literally didn't.
- 40:22Speaker 3: See that negative.
- 40:24Speaker 1: And maybe it's because you've made this like conscious choice
- 40:27Speaker 1: to rewrite your narrative, so good job.
- 40:31Speaker 2: I also think Trisa, it's it's also how I live,
- 40:34Speaker 2: right even on the even on the show there were
- 40:36Speaker 2: the moments all that they they put on the final product,
- 40:41Speaker 2: but even you know, like how I was when when
- 40:45Speaker 2: they didn't show things like I'm checking on that's just
- 40:48Speaker 2: my natural, My net's in my nature, like I'm mothering.
- 40:50Speaker 2: I don't want to see people struggle, especially if they
- 40:55Speaker 2: don't have to, and if I have any tools to
- 40:57Speaker 2: help somebody and I I'm gonna lead athletes, so I
- 41:01Speaker 2: have naturally learned the tools on how to deal with struggle,
- 41:08Speaker 2: even physical struggle, because that's what we went through a lot.
- 41:12Speaker 2: Like I think the athletes on the show had a
- 41:16Speaker 2: slight disadvantage in that regard, right, besides just being physically fit,
- 41:23Speaker 2: we have a certain amount of discipline when it comes
- 41:27Speaker 2: to physical struggle. And so what you heard from me
- 41:33Speaker 2: or even you know, the prayer or what I would
- 41:35Speaker 2: whisper to Denise or you or whomever, like we can
- 41:39Speaker 2: do this, right, Like, we can do this. They want
- 41:42Speaker 2: to see us struggle and suffer, but ultimately we can
- 41:45Speaker 2: do this. We can face the fears. And I hope
- 41:50Speaker 2: it's also I mean I probably should have said in
- 41:52Speaker 2: the beginning, but it's one of the reasons why I
- 41:54Speaker 2: was like, yeah, I'll do it, not just because it's
- 41:56Speaker 2: another challenge, trist so because it's an opportunity for people
- 41:59Speaker 2: to see who I have evolved into as I've gotten older,
- 42:05Speaker 2: knowing how what I've been through and my incredible, incredible,
- 42:10Speaker 2: vast life at the age of forty nine going on fifty,
- 42:13Speaker 2: that this is the person that this enormous life has created,
- 42:19Speaker 2: and it's not solitary creation. It could happen in your life.
- 42:23Speaker 2: It could happen in whomever might be going through a
- 42:26Speaker 2: tough time, like like your beautiful self can evolve, and
- 42:31Speaker 2: I wanted people to see that.
- 42:33Speaker 3: Yeah I think they did.
- 42:36Speaker 1: Okay, So I don't know if you last question. I
- 42:39Speaker 1: don't know if you have any regrets at all, Like
- 42:41Speaker 1: the way that I left. When I left, I was
- 42:44Speaker 1: just at peace. I don't know if you remember that.
- 42:46Speaker 1: When I left, I was just like this, it's my time.
- 42:48Speaker 1: I don't want to be a burden anymore. I've gotten
- 42:51Speaker 1: so much out of it.
- 42:52Speaker 2: And you were like, here take all my stuff.
- 42:54Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 42:54Speaker 1: I literally was like, okay, Cam, you need your you
- 42:57Speaker 1: need to watch you can't find yours.
- 42:58Speaker 3: Here you go. Who wants a pillow? Who wants my Yeah?
- 43:01Speaker 1: I was giving everything away. So because whenever someone left, we.
- 43:08Speaker 3: Were like, okay, what can they what can we take
- 43:10Speaker 3: from from like to survive?
- 43:13Speaker 2: Yeah, totally.
- 43:15Speaker 1: So I have a little regret, and that is just
- 43:18Speaker 1: that I left. I kind of have fomo now, like
- 43:21Speaker 1: I kind of wanted to do more of the stuff, more,
- 43:23Speaker 1: more stuff. And obviously you left for a very different reason.
- 43:27Speaker 1: You were medically withdrawn. Do you have any regrets about leaving?
- 43:33Speaker 1: And like what in terms of your exit from the
- 43:38Speaker 1: show do you ever think about that?
- 43:40Speaker 3: Do you ever regret do.
- 43:41Speaker 1: You wish you would have been like like holding you know, let.
- 43:44Speaker 3: Me tell you your ribs?
- 43:46Speaker 2: There there are regrets in that well one and it's
- 43:49Speaker 2: kind of funny, but not in my preparation for the show.
- 43:53Speaker 2: You know, there was a lot of you know, cardio
- 43:55Speaker 2: endurance work, and there was one thing that I now
- 43:58Speaker 2: I wish I would have done, and that is more kickboxing.
- 44:01Speaker 2: I have no background in boxing, right, and when I
- 44:05Speaker 2: had an idea that the that that challenge was going
- 44:08Speaker 2: to be a part of it. And when I I
- 44:11Speaker 2: immediately thought, you know what, the facial protection was not
- 44:17Speaker 2: a lot and I'm thinking, like I don't want to
- 44:20Speaker 2: really ruin this, like I love this this, so I'm
- 44:25Speaker 2: immediately venturous to say I'm going to protect my face.
- 44:29Speaker 3: Okay, got it?
- 44:30Speaker 2: And when you protect your face, what do you leave exposed?
- 44:33Speaker 2: Your ribs? So with a little bit of background in
- 44:37Speaker 2: like kickboxing, and I know that Kayla like she loves kickboxing,
- 44:41Speaker 2: like you know, she does a lot of fitness, that
- 44:43Speaker 2: was one thing I would have done to prepare. But
- 44:45Speaker 2: I also I guess my regret is that I didn't
- 44:47Speaker 2: get far enough where the challenges that we face were
- 44:52Speaker 2: very physical, right, and that I never got to a
- 44:56Speaker 2: point where I could do a challenge that required like
- 45:00Speaker 2: you know, mindset stuff and thinking and teamwork type things,
- 45:09Speaker 2: and so and I and and after I left, like
- 45:12Speaker 2: I don't know if it was purposeful, but because there
- 45:15Speaker 2: were so many people leaving at that point, they're like,
- 45:17Speaker 2: we need to make a show. I found that the
- 45:20Speaker 2: challenges after that, not to say that they were easy,
- 45:24Speaker 2: like I'm definitely not saying that, but there was a
- 45:27Speaker 2: different tone to them in terms of the physical part
- 45:31Speaker 2: of it. And I don't know if it was already
- 45:35Speaker 2: programmed that this was going to be after this, after this,
- 45:39Speaker 2: The regret is that I never got a chance to
- 45:41Speaker 2: to do that part of it. Like I am a
- 45:44Speaker 2: leader like that that would have I would have embraced
- 45:50Speaker 2: those type of challenges. And so my regret is that
- 45:52Speaker 2: I never got that far to be able to do that.
- 45:55Speaker 3: Totally get that.
- 45:56Speaker 1: So, Marian, love you and thank you so much, which
- 46:00Speaker 1: for joining me on the almost famous OG podcast Where
- 46:03Speaker 1: can Everybody find You Anywhere?
- 46:05Speaker 2: Everywhere. Instagram is at the Mary Jones and if there
- 46:10Speaker 2: is a TikTok, I'm somewhere there. And if right, I'm
- 46:13Speaker 2: so happy that I got a chance to chat with
- 46:15Speaker 2: you again. I think people think that like you do
- 46:18Speaker 2: these type of things, and everybody goes there there different ways,
- 46:22Speaker 2: but it has not like people don't know we have
- 46:25Speaker 2: an incredible group chat. That is the funniest thing, like
- 46:28Speaker 2: that could be a podcast in and of itself, or
- 46:30Speaker 2: something like the commentary on this podcast. But the fact
- 46:35Speaker 2: that I knew that I have made lifelong sisters and
- 46:39Speaker 2: brothers and all of this is the best part of
- 46:42Speaker 2: it all.
- 46:42Speaker 4: In the club, in the club, Okay, I love you too,
- 46:52Speaker 4: have a great day.
- 46:53Speaker 2: You too. Bye bye bye
