- 0:00Everyone would use AI one way or the other way in coming years
- 0:05and already has started it if they are in the tech or they're
- 0:07using tech one way or the other. But this technology or AI is
- 0:12also changing a lot of things, changing a lot of aspects,
- 0:16especially when it comes to marketing, promotions, outreach.
- 0:21What do you see the impact of this AI already on this outreach
- 0:25aspect or marketing aspect? Because people are saying SEO is
- 0:28dead, e-mail marketing is dead, sending messages on LinkedIn.
- 0:32You don't need to get an AI bot and it will do it for you.
- 0:35How do you see what is already changed and what will change in
- 0:39coming, say, months and years? Yeah, I wouldn't say those
- 0:43things are dead. I would say that they have
- 0:44evolved. For instance, SEO has evolved
- 0:47into AEO. So an engine optimization and
- 0:52that's a good place where AI can help, especially on a on a
- 0:55website, you know, where you would analyse A blog post and
- 0:58you would come up with questions and answers.
- 1:01So FAQs are really what ranks, you know, so that that is
- 1:05delivering a lot of results. I would also say I had an
- 1:08interesting situation happen not too long ago where I use audio
- 1:12notes on LinkedIn. It's built into the mobile app.
- 1:15And when I get a new connection, sometimes I will give them an
- 1:18audio recording because I believe that that helps increase
- 1:23the authenticity. It's me and it was very
- 1:26interesting. The person responded back and he
- 1:28said, was that you or did you use AI to simulate your voice?
- 1:33And I was, I was just taken aback and I thought, wow.
- 1:38And I just went back to it and I said, no, that is me.
- 1:42And it's really interesting because AI probably at some
- 1:45point could simulate things like that.
- 1:47But what's nice about LinkedIn is it's really hard to fake an
- 1:51audio message because of the way it transmits between people.
- 1:54So it just is interesting how people are, they're, they're
- 1:58becoming more expecting AI in the interaction.
- 2:03And I think that that can really diminish the authenticity and
- 2:09the credibility, you know, so I, I say, well, you know, like I
- 2:14said earlier, use the AI as an assistant, not as a, as a
- 2:17replacement. OK, that that's very well said.
- 2:22Use it as an assistant and I think I would extend it further
- 2:26by saying when you use an assistant, you check the work
- 2:28done by assistant. When you hired an intern, you
- 2:32used to check the work done by an intern in your car.
- 2:35You didn't say he or she did it and he's in the college.
- 2:39He would have done good job. No, you checked it.
- 2:41Same thing with AI. Don't expect it to be 100%
- 2:44right. Check it, cross check it and
- 2:46double check it. That's.
- 2:48Yes, the AI is average intern. It's an average intern.
- 2:54It's an average intern that based on your intelligence, what
- 2:58you ask and how detailed you explain it gives you the better
- 3:01answer. So yeah, it's an average intern
- 3:04who can be super intelligent if you ask super smart questions.
- 3:08But there's also this concern about privacy, especially when
- 3:12we talk about LinkedIn outreach or LinkedIn messages.
- 3:15Now, there are two schools of thought.
- 3:17One says, no problem, we are here to market, let's send a
- 3:21message, ask shamelessly. Then there's a second school of
- 3:25thought which says, well, yeah, LinkedIn is a professional
- 3:28platform, Let's stick it to professional outreach.
- 3:32And if you send too many messages, too many posts or too
- 3:36many things on LinkedIn, you will burn your reputation or
- 3:40credibility. And of course, the others in the
- 3:43previous school of the first school of thought will say no,
- 3:45no, no, no, that'll promote you on LinkedIn.
- 3:47So how do you see the concerns on privacy?
- 3:50Genuine over reaction or overwhelming?
- 3:55What is it? Well, I think privacy is always
- 3:58a concern. One of the things I would say is
- 4:01that a benefit of LinkedIn, especially if somebody is going
- 4:05to do business with you to some degree, they're going to Google
- 4:08your name. And so your LinkedIn profile is
- 4:10probably going to come up in the first, second, 3rd result.
- 4:13So they're going to go to your profile.
- 4:14Nobody should be using LinkedIn to actually sell anything.
- 4:18LinkedIn is, in essence, a digital database.
- 4:23It's a database to identify, find and engage with
- 4:28professionals. And my goal is always to get a
- 4:33conversation beyond LinkedIn. So you use LinkedIn for the
- 4:37initial engagement and then you have a call like we're having
- 4:39right now and to, to, you know, have two people together.
- 4:42So 'cause you don't know if there's fake profiles, you don't
- 4:45know, you know, if people are, you know, sending you links that
- 4:49are questionable. I don't like any of that,
- 4:52especially without permission. You know, anytime in the inbox,
- 4:55I would say do not ever click on a link.
- 4:58You know, that to me is like you, you're putting yourself at
- 5:00risk. So use LinkedIn as a way to
- 5:03identify an audience that you want to engage with.
- 5:07Use LinkedIn as a way to convey your subject matter expertise.
- 5:11It's a wonderful platform to educate and, and delight your
- 5:16audience, you know, in, in a way that aligns with, with your
- 5:20niche, whatever your specialty is, but work towards building
- 5:23that relationship just like you would in real life.
- 5:25Like say you go to a trade show, right?
- 5:27And you exchange cards with somebody, you know, what do you
- 5:30do? Do you put the cards in the
- 5:31drawer and forget about it? Or do you follow up and maybe
- 5:34have a call and then maybe say, let me, you know.
- 5:36And so, so LinkedIn is no different than that.
- 5:39It's just a, it's a delivery system, you know, for that
- 5:42introduction. So basically you're saying you
- 5:46connect with people, you talk about the right stuff, you ask
- 5:50them the right questions, approach them with the right
- 5:52questions, and if there's an appetite for anything beyond it,
- 5:56take it offline and then evaluate if it's a sales
- 6:00conversation. But don't start with here am I?
- 6:03I'm here to sell. I'm here to do this or go hard
- 6:06because I think a few years back that happened to Facebook,
- 6:10people related to pages and they oversold and then it lost its
- 6:14credibility because nobody wanted to follow those pages
- 6:17because they understood, OK, links, likes are being bought,
- 6:20posts are being promoted, and so on and so forth.
- 6:23So if that's the case, I would also like to touch upon the fact
- 6:27that given this advent of, of the popularity of LLMS and AI
- 6:35per SE, I think LinkedIn has adapted its approach on how it
- 6:40looks at different content, different people, and how it's
- 6:45basically it's algorithms, let's put it like that.
- 6:48Are you saying, are you acknowledging that that there is
- 6:52a change? And if so, what kind of what has
- 6:54changed? What exactly is the new world of
- 6:57LinkedIn? That's a great question, And
- 7:00yes, there's a shift. There's a huge shift.
- 7:02Microsoft is the owner of LinkedIn and Microsoft has a
- 7:07just about a majority stake in Open AI.
- 7:09So they have leveraged that tool over the past 18 months or so to
- 7:14learn and to teach its model. And recently there's there's
- 7:19been a a shift in the way LinkedIn is delivering content
- 7:23and showing profiles. So it becomes a real visibility
- 7:26question. And So what is important now are
- 7:30are several things. Your profile, your headline and
- 7:34your about section really need to align.
- 7:38OK, so no longer just having a job title and you know,
- 7:41something very generic, like a like a copy of your CV that no
- 7:45longer flies. It really needs to build your
- 7:48personal brand on LinkedIn. And then the next part of that
- 7:52equation is the network and, and how well aligned are you, How
- 7:56well curated is your network? And again, the, the, the AI
- 8:00behind this engine is looking at it's something like 150 billion
- 8:05factors that it's, that it's evaluating Now in the past, it
- 8:09used to be that you could buy an engagement pod and you could get
- 8:12people to like, like, like or add these great posts, comments.
- 8:16And that would boost your posts and things would go viral.
- 8:19Or you could have hashtags, you could stuff with hashtags and
- 8:22that would pull you into different feeds.
- 8:25No longer does that work. And I think that that is a
- 8:27really good shift for LinkedIn because now you're going to be
- 8:31evaluated and your profile and your content will be delivered
- 8:35based on integrity. To catch the full discussion,
- 8:37head to YouTube, Spotify or Apple Podcasts and search fit
- 8:41for privacy. Links are in the description.
- 8:43Thanks for listening.
