- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy. Into the world.
- 0:21So welcome to the coop and let's start your day off in a
- 0:24fantastic way. Hey everybody, good morning from
- 0:29the chicken coop. So and yes, it is good morning
- 0:32and it is the chicken coop because the sun is coming up at
- 0:34a little bit earlier and now I can get out here still a little
- 0:38later than I like to put it out, but still it's working.
- 0:40So OK, let's talk about choices that have been made for you.
- 0:47Have you ever stopped and thought about how many choices
- 0:49in your life were made for you that you don't necessarily ever
- 0:55consider the impact that they had or course correct?
- 0:59More importantly, it's the course correction of that
- 1:01impact. So let me give you an example.
- 1:04I went to school, I went to public school in a small town in
- 1:08Massachusetts, and that's what everybody did.
- 1:12Pretty much that's what everybody did.
- 1:13If you didn't go to Catholic school, then you went to the
- 1:16public schools. And this was standard operating
- 1:20procedure. My family was not Catholic and
- 1:24well, a portion of my family was Catholic, but there was no way
- 1:28that my Protestant mother was going to put me in a Catholic
- 1:31school, even though her mother was Catholic.
- 1:34So which is a story for another day about how that affected all
- 1:37different types of religion. However, the school that I went
- 1:41to was a, you know, a public school that was not a choice
- 1:45that I would have ever made. And throughout my time at that
- 1:49school, I recognized that that is such a big thing of how that
- 1:54impacted me. It really impacted me because
- 1:57one, I could have benefited from being in a more creative
- 2:01environment. I could have wildly benefited
- 2:03from that. Two, you know, I recognized that
- 2:08my parents did not know any better in putting me and that
- 2:11because that's what everybody just did.
- 2:12But that was definitely not something that I would have
- 2:17picked for me, which is why when I had a daughter and a son, I
- 2:21went into putting them into a different type of learning
- 2:24system, recognizing who they are.
- 2:26And and still my son at 16 is being course corrected again,
- 2:30because he's so mechanically inclined, he deserves to be in
- 2:33an environment where he can be mechanically inclined.
- 2:36And since there are, you know, not a lot of trade schools
- 2:40anymore because we've kind of taken that away for high
- 2:43schools, we have to work around it.
- 2:46So being creative, that's what we're doing.
- 2:48But I work really hard with him to recognize his skill sets and
- 2:53bring those forward for him so that he doesn't feel like those
- 2:56are wrong. That's not what happened in my
- 2:59world. So I could sit here and I could
- 3:01say these were choices that were made for me, that greatly
- 3:04affected me throughout my life. And they did.
- 3:07Did I course correct a portion of them?
- 3:10Yes, but very unconsciously. So I, when I started to really
- 3:15consider this as of late, you know, what choices were made for
- 3:20me that I had no control over that I want to course correct.
- 3:25It's not that I'm mad about it. It's not that I'm upset about
- 3:27it. It's that I want to do something
- 3:30about it. I want to do some things that
- 3:33will add to that. And part of that course
- 3:36correction is saying, OK, if I had had this, where would that
- 3:40have affected me? So for instance, give you a very
- 3:43specific example. I was like I said, super
- 3:46creative. I was into photography, art, all
- 3:49of that. But there were no quote UN quote
- 3:51art classes to take in that school system.
- 3:54So I never did them. So now I'm taking them, even
- 3:58though years late. I always said, oh, it's OK.
- 4:00You know, it wouldn't have worked out anyway.
- 4:02And probably all of that was true for that point in time.
- 4:05But we all get to a point where we can look and say, okay, what
- 4:08are the things that I want to correct course correct?
- 4:11So I want to go and take art classes so that I can add that
- 4:17back in because I feel like that's something I'm missing.
- 4:20Does that make sense? So look back and say, and again,
- 4:24it's not that they anybody did anything wrong.
- 4:25They did the best they could with what they had, but what
- 4:28choices were made for me that I would have made differently?
- 4:32And can I right now course correct that in some way?
- 4:36So, you know, you can't course correct right now where you
- 4:40lived when you were a child, but you can course correct where you
- 4:43live as an adult. You can you look at things and
- 4:46say, geez, I always wanted to travel further as a kid and we
- 4:50never got to do that. OK.
- 4:52So are you traveling as an adult?
- 4:54Are you, are you bringing forth those things that are seeds that
- 4:57were planted in you but never came out?
- 5:01That's what we're looking for. Where are those little seeds
- 5:03that were in there, choices that were made for you, that were not
- 5:07necessarily for you? Now and again, we could dig this
- 5:10up till the cows come home talking about, well, people made
- 5:13really poor choices for me. And there's no doubt in the
- 5:16world that people make poor choices for other people.
- 5:19And when we're little, we can't do anything about it.
- 5:21But as an adult, we have some ability of what to let go, of
- 5:25what to course correct, how to hang on to things in a different
- 5:29way so that they don't torture us and make us feel like we got
- 5:32ripped off. And that's what this is all
- 5:35about. So what course corrections do
- 5:38you want to make to the choices that somebody else made for you?
- 5:41All right, my friends, I hope you have a blessed day and I
- 5:44will see you tomorrow. Bye.
