- 0:14Speaker 1: Get this open here? Oh, I already have it open.
- 0:17Speaker 1: What's going on? Everybody? I'm the one, the only w
- 0:19Speaker 1: O O K I E joined here by my normal compatriots.
- 0:24Speaker 1: We got the kid who knows everything mister Cole Robbie yep,
- 0:29Speaker 1: and the kid that strives to know everything Dexter with
- 0:32Speaker 1: bad takes. Sorry hello everyone, Oh everyone, been a couple
- 0:37Speaker 1: of weeks since we've done an episode. You guys went
- 0:38Speaker 1: to packs? How was packs? Yeah?
- 0:41Speaker 2: It was fun. Got to demo a whole bunch of
- 0:44Speaker 2: Lord of the Rings games.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Lord of the Rings games.
- 0:47Speaker 3: Yep, just some random tabletop games, some some trick taking,
- 0:53Speaker 3: some dice drafting, some Fellowship of the Ring which is
- 0:56Speaker 3: just basically pandemic.
- 0:59Speaker 4: So good.
- 1:00Speaker 2: There a variety of games. They were all Lord of
- 1:02Speaker 2: the Ring.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Did you also do all Lord of the Rings games? Cole?
- 1:09Speaker 5: Now, I was a floor judge for Marvel Champions and
- 1:14Speaker 5: Arkham for LCG.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Hmmm Arkham l CG. I didn't realize that was like
- 1:23Speaker 1: a isn't that a co op game?
- 1:27Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:27Speaker 5: Yeah, Arkham is only a co op game. But Marvel
- 1:33Speaker 5: with the Civil War expansion technically just barely introduced PvP.
- 1:41Speaker 4: I think the way that they did. It is.
- 1:42Speaker 5: Actually it's pretty cool how it fits into the game.
- 1:45Speaker 5: But it's much like Altered It's like a race instead
- 1:49Speaker 5: of you.
- 1:50Speaker 4: Know, actively battling your opponent.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Interesting. Interesting, But we're going into the episode that what
- 1:59Speaker 1: could have been to weeks ago before before Wookie derailed it.
- 2:03Speaker 1: I'm not sure if anybody liked my derailing or if
- 2:05Speaker 1: they all hated it. Either way, that was a really
- 2:07Speaker 1: fun episode.
- 2:08Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, it actually I think was one that had
- 2:12Speaker 5: the most comments in the last couple of months, so
- 2:18Speaker 5: I had to have been well received.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Not gonna lie, idea, I didn't. I haven't had much
- 2:24Speaker 1: time to go look at it. The holidays are here
- 2:29Speaker 1: for those well, actually I was. I wasn't say everybody
- 2:32Speaker 1: in the States the holidays are here, but it really
- 2:35Speaker 1: doesn't matter because everyone's in holiday season. Christmas is here,
- 2:39Speaker 1: and it's it's time for Christmas things, right, So gonna
- 2:43Speaker 1: be gonna be a busy next few months. But let's
- 2:46Speaker 1: go into what we got. We got the big thank
- 2:51Speaker 1: you message from the Altered cast over there. Game found
- 2:56Speaker 1: it just shy of nine hundred thousand dollars on the
- 3:01Speaker 1: people side, on the pleasure side, and then yep, one
- 3:05Speaker 1: point four on the retailer side, So we're just shy.
- 3:10Speaker 1: What does that come out to. It's just shy of
- 3:12Speaker 1: the two point five, right, do we have a total number?
- 3:14Speaker 1: I didn't pretty close together, it's.
- 3:17Speaker 5: Like two point three or two point four or something
- 3:20Speaker 5: like that.
- 3:20Speaker 1: So just just shy of that. Unlocked were the Skybound
- 3:26Speaker 1: Odyssey box toppers, what's uh?
- 3:29Speaker 3: Yep, we got some extra uniques in every box. Nice
- 3:34Speaker 3: and there was one other little box topper package.
- 3:38Speaker 4: I don't remember what it was though.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Really uniques were the more important ones to me.
- 3:44Speaker 3: Yep.
- 3:46Speaker 1: And then we actually did they actually did do digital
- 3:49Speaker 1: only unique digital packs for all backers who ordered one
- 3:53Speaker 1: or more unique digital packs. Tell me what those are,
- 3:58Speaker 1: mister Cole, not to you could go order them right
- 4:01Speaker 1: now because you're far too lately, But yeah.
- 4:04Speaker 4: I mean it is.
- 4:05Speaker 5: It is an interesting thing to talk about because it's
- 4:07Speaker 5: probably the most controversial thing that they did outside of,
- 4:14Speaker 5: you know, the whole bloody Monday announcement is the chance
- 4:21Speaker 5: to buy just straight up uniques. So there were two options.
- 4:27Speaker 5: For one option, you could buy a unique pack plus
- 4:30Speaker 5: ten euros of pod credit for thirty euros and it
- 4:35Speaker 5: was just random, ten random uniques, and then the other
- 4:41Speaker 5: option was for forty euros, you could pick a specific
- 4:44Speaker 5: faction and get ten uniques from that specific faction and
- 4:49Speaker 5: then the the pod credit as well.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Did those two options were those limited, like you can
- 4:56Speaker 1: only order so many?
- 4:58Speaker 4: No, no, there was, there's no limit.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe I should have and.
- 5:04Speaker 5: It's I don't think it's public information necessarily, but I
- 5:10Speaker 5: can say, for as controversial as it was and how
- 5:14Speaker 5: many people doomed and gloomed over it, it was one
- 5:18Speaker 5: of the most selected products of the entire thing.
- 5:21Speaker 1: So yeah, I mean it's it's a good deal. Ten
- 5:25Speaker 1: uniques from me, whatever faction you want seems okay to me.
- 5:29Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 5:31Speaker 5: Yeah, And it was specifically at random from sets one
- 5:35Speaker 5: to four. So some of the complaints were, like one
- 5:40Speaker 5: of the main ones was, oh, Equinox said in.
- 5:44Speaker 4: Twenty twenty three that they were never going to.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Do They said just one time way back when that
- 5:52Speaker 1: they never do this, way back in twenty eleven. Yeah,
- 5:56Speaker 1: so people were.
- 5:57Speaker 4: Really upset about that. And then they were upset because they.
- 6:01Speaker 5: Thought it might like ruin the uniques for the next
- 6:06Speaker 5: set or something. But what these are whenever they generate uniques.
- 6:13Speaker 5: They generate like thousands, and they have a database of
- 6:17Speaker 5: them and they know specifically which ones were never printed.
- 6:21Speaker 5: So these are all uniques that were already generated for
- 6:25Speaker 5: sets one through four but just were never printed. So
- 6:30Speaker 5: without something like this, they would have never like they
- 6:34Speaker 5: would just be lost basically lost media kind of kind
- 6:38Speaker 5: of situation. But they're not from the newest set, so
- 6:41Speaker 5: it's not like, you know, it's influencing the new packs
- 6:46Speaker 5: anyone's opening.
- 6:47Speaker 4: Or anything like that.
- 6:49Speaker 5: And then yeah, so but those were the reasons people
- 6:54Speaker 5: really were vocal about not wanting this to be a
- 6:58Speaker 5: thing on the discord, and.
- 7:01Speaker 1: It was because wait, say one more time, hit me?
- 7:06Speaker 5: What was it?
- 7:07Speaker 1: What was the line in Deadpool? My uh my, my
- 7:11Speaker 1: Cajun's a little rusty. Hit me again. That's been a
- 7:14Speaker 1: lot of times as I watched sling Blade. Hit me again.
- 7:17Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:18Speaker 5: The really the number one thing is they said that
- 7:21Speaker 5: they would never sell digital packs.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Hey yeah, whatever, like that's that's neither height nor hair, right,
- 7:27Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, people need to understand business plans change
- 7:32Speaker 1: and as they change, you have to adapt with the market.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Uh so yeah, whatever, get get over it.
- 7:40Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:40Speaker 5: And then people were just worried that it would undercut
- 7:44Speaker 5: people wanting to buy the new set or wanting to
- 7:48Speaker 5: buy stuff in stores and things like that. But I
- 7:52Speaker 5: think the way that they did it, and that it's
- 7:54Speaker 5: only sets one through four and they're not creating new
- 7:59Speaker 5: uniques out of nowhere, I think I think it's a
- 8:03Speaker 5: really just a no brainer add on really.
- 8:07Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure, since they've already generated all of those
- 8:10Speaker 3: uniques digitally, and they've already you know, done all of
- 8:13Speaker 3: the testing and done the process to make sure that
- 8:17Speaker 3: they're all balanced, like, and they didn't get printed, so
- 8:20Speaker 3: might as well use them now. Yeah, So since it's
- 8:23Speaker 3: only sets one through four, makes sense to do that
- 8:25Speaker 3: for sure.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Yep.
- 8:26Speaker 5: And when I was in the office, I saw a
- 8:29Speaker 5: little bit of this process. They had like some printed
- 8:34Speaker 5: out that they were like looking over and you know,
- 8:37Speaker 5: double checking and making notes on like a big sheet of.
- 8:42Speaker 4: Just tons of uniques. So it's a very very cool process.
- 8:47Speaker 4: Maybe possibly I want to see if we.
- 8:50Speaker 5: Can get Jacques on here, who is the father of
- 8:54Speaker 5: the uniques, to talk about it a little more in depth.
- 8:57Speaker 4: So if that sounds.
- 8:58Speaker 5: Cool to people, me know, and I'll remember and work
- 9:01Speaker 5: harder to make that happen.
- 9:03Speaker 1: I think I'm gonna call bullshit on that whole reasoning,
- 9:06Speaker 1: the secondhand reasoning. The first one, Okay, I get it, whatever, right, yea,
- 9:10Speaker 1: yeah yeah, the second one, I'm gonna call a little
- 9:13Speaker 1: bit of bullshit on that. And they're like, oh, it's
- 9:16Speaker 1: it was, it's going to taint to the unique market.
- 9:20Speaker 5: Yeah, there were there were very literally people who said
- 9:24Speaker 5: they would rather the game die than them do a
- 9:26Speaker 5: digital pack of uniques. So, I I don't know, maybe
- 9:32Speaker 5: if people want to reiterate their stance on that in
- 9:36Speaker 5: the comments so we can read it in whole.
- 9:38Speaker 4: It has been a couple of weeks. That's just what
- 9:41Speaker 4: I remember people complaining about.
- 9:43Speaker 1: They would rather have the game die than do a
- 9:46Speaker 1: digital pack of uniques. All right, indeed, all right, whatever.
- 9:52Speaker 1: People are weird.
- 9:53Speaker 2: Some people are just crazy.
- 9:55Speaker 1: I see. And it's just like because it's like, oh
- 9:58Speaker 1: it was. It was almost like when you were plain
- 10:00Speaker 1: to me. It's like, oh, it's almost like they're like,
- 10:02Speaker 1: I have Mega the whole what am I looking for?
- 10:06Speaker 1: The whole magic thing? Like I have super expensive uniques, right,
- 10:10Speaker 1: it's like the whole reason why, like we keep the
- 10:12Speaker 1: reserve list and magic, but like, are you. I don't
- 10:17Speaker 1: think any uniques are really going for that much money,
- 10:19Speaker 1: are they?
- 10:23Speaker 4: I don't know if they.
- 10:25Speaker 5: If I would have a way to see what has
- 10:27Speaker 5: sold recently, and I don't go to the the dark
- 10:31Speaker 5: dark place of the community market, but the highest day
- 10:38Speaker 5: soft War is two hundred and fifty euros on the market.
- 10:42Speaker 3: And I'm sure there's.
- 10:45Speaker 1: A bunch of people who are like, my uniques are
- 10:47Speaker 1: going to lose value and then freaked out.
- 10:52Speaker 3: Yeah, they are overvaluing the uniques that they currently have.
- 10:56Speaker 3: I'm sure that there's a very small amount of uniques
- 10:58Speaker 3: that have sold for like a thous dollars on private
- 11:01Speaker 3: markets or whatever.
- 11:02Speaker 1: Maybe the vast majority of uniques are the.
- 11:05Speaker 3: Vast majority of uniques are not worth more than like
- 11:08Speaker 3: twenty dollars. See, that's just blow The value is not
- 11:12Speaker 3: being tanked overall.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Yeah, that blows my mind because I'm sitting here and
- 11:16Speaker 1: I'm thinking, like, all right, that's like key Forge Deck's
- 11:20Speaker 1: still going for like five hundred dollars. I'm like, why
- 11:22Speaker 1: are you spending five hundred dollars on this game? Well?
- 11:24Speaker 1: Could you possibly hope to gain right, especially with the
- 11:29Speaker 1: prizing in key Forge and I'm not saying like, don't
- 11:32Speaker 1: spend money. Yeah right, I'm not saying don't spend money
- 11:36Speaker 1: on the game. But at the same time, like I
- 11:39Speaker 1: would rather open five hundred dollars in sealed packs and
- 11:42Speaker 1: try my luck then pay five hundred dollars for one thing,
- 11:46Speaker 1: and then you know who knows, right, Like Altered is
- 11:50Speaker 1: a little different, right because Altered, I guess there's a
- 11:53Speaker 1: such thing as a staple, but shoot, metas ever changes
- 11:58Speaker 1: quickly and Altered, so you don't know that that one
- 12:00Speaker 1: unique you're buying for that much is going to be
- 12:03Speaker 1: worthy of anything in the next set. So yep. Yeah.
- 12:07Speaker 5: The So I think like a big part of it,
- 12:11Speaker 5: other than people who are like really get upset about
- 12:15Speaker 5: you know, they said one thing a year ago and
- 12:17Speaker 5: now they're not doing that thing, I think the other
- 12:21Speaker 5: side is people get really worried about, you know, local
- 12:26Speaker 5: game stores and having to appease the game stores. Which
- 12:30Speaker 5: I used to be in that same mentality until like
- 12:34Speaker 5: this whole thing went down, and now I'm more of
- 12:39Speaker 5: the understanding that Altered needs to do what works best
- 12:43Speaker 5: for Altered, and if there are certain things that work
- 12:47Speaker 5: best for Altered that aren't expressly like to.
- 12:51Speaker 4: The benefit of game stores.
- 12:54Speaker 5: Maybe that just has to be done, because if you
- 12:57Speaker 5: don't keep the players happy and the company going first,
- 13:02Speaker 5: the game stores will just move on anyways and sell
- 13:06Speaker 5: other products, which the message but being put out was
- 13:11Speaker 5: bad enough to turn stores away entirely and cancel pre orders.
- 13:15Speaker 5: So maybe trying way too hard to appease game stores
- 13:20Speaker 5: doesn't always work.
- 13:22Speaker 1: It doesn't, I'll tell you that much. There's a fine
- 13:25Speaker 1: line you gotta walk, right because I mean, even for me,
- 13:31Speaker 1: I know, I'm a big person to appease the game store,
- 13:34Speaker 1: because without the game store, you're not going to survive.
- 13:37Speaker 1: But I mean even I got to take a look
- 13:39Speaker 1: at my ideal of it, because it's twenty twenty five, right.
- 13:44Speaker 1: This game is top one hundred and BGA right now, yep,
- 13:50Speaker 1: and it's doing that without the game store. Game stores
- 13:55Speaker 1: are fickle, right, and if they making money on it,
- 13:57Speaker 1: they're not really doing much with it. And if your
- 14:00Speaker 1: name's not like Magic or Pokemon, you know, it's it's
- 14:08Speaker 1: it's it's it's rough out there. I don't even know, Like,
- 14:12Speaker 1: I mean, you know what one time, at one point
- 14:14Speaker 1: in time, it was uh what was it? It was
- 14:20Speaker 1: my hero Academia and then now that's no more, and
- 14:23Speaker 1: right now is one piece still like a big thing
- 14:27Speaker 1: in poets still things, right, Yeah, So it's like it's
- 14:31Speaker 1: all come and go. But you know, unless you're making
- 14:35Speaker 1: the game store this mass amount of money, the game
- 14:37Speaker 1: store don't really give a shit about you. So it's
- 14:41Speaker 1: it's a little tough sometimes.
- 14:43Speaker 5: So yep, it's definitely a balance and sometimes tipping it
- 14:50Speaker 5: way too far in the favor of game stores does
- 14:52Speaker 5: not work out for more niche games.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Yeah, and right now it's still surviving on BGA, so
- 15:00Speaker 1: that's good. I mean still overseas, there's still a huge
- 15:04Speaker 1: as far as I understand, a huge calling for it.
- 15:06Speaker 1: It may not be the biggest in the States, and
- 15:08Speaker 1: that's that's fine. US Americans kind of get used to
- 15:11Speaker 1: being like the center of attention on everything, but that's
- 15:14Speaker 1: not always going to be true, right, Sometimes we gotta, yeah,
- 15:18Speaker 1: realize we're not the center of everything. Because I'm assuming
- 15:22Speaker 1: a majority of these retailer pledges were not in the US.
- 15:27Speaker 5: Yeah, it would be interesting to know, what I mean,
- 15:32Speaker 5: there's a couple of things that I really want to
- 15:34Speaker 5: know that I haven't been able to find an answer yet,
- 15:36Speaker 5: like I'm interested if Southern Hobby or you know, gamers
- 15:42Speaker 5: Guild or even Game Nerds ordered anything, because Southern Hobby
- 15:48Speaker 5: is like the the other distributor other than Asthma Dae itself.
- 15:54Speaker 5: And maybe maybe they ordered some stuff, which would mean
- 15:58Speaker 5: stores could get it from Southern Hobby if you know,
- 16:02Speaker 5: they didn't get on the game found themselves. But I
- 16:06Speaker 5: think it's definitely a balance. But one of the other
- 16:10Speaker 5: things that annoys me is the whole not upsetting game
- 16:14Speaker 5: stores and making sure game stores are number one also
- 16:19Speaker 5: leads to they have a policy that is like who
- 16:24Speaker 5: can host events for you know, Adventure Pass and things
- 16:28Speaker 5: like that, and you have to be a brick and
- 16:32Speaker 5: mortar store because they want to encourage going to stores.
- 16:37Speaker 5: But it makes it so like I had a thought
- 16:42Speaker 5: for a moment, since no stores in Texas except for
- 16:46Speaker 5: one ended up actually doing pre orders, I was like, well,
- 16:49Speaker 5: what if I just do pre orders and just use
- 16:51Speaker 5: the website and like get that for you know, whoever
- 16:55Speaker 5: wants to order it.
- 16:56Speaker 4: But no, can't do that because I don't have a
- 16:59Speaker 4: brick and mortar.
- 17:00Speaker 5: Yeah, you brick and mortar, or if people want to
- 17:03Speaker 5: host like a learn to play or a draft or
- 17:08Speaker 5: something like that, and they want to organize it and
- 17:10Speaker 5: put it together. They technically can't officially do that unless
- 17:14Speaker 5: they convince a store to, you know, let them use
- 17:17Speaker 5: the store's name and account and location. And some stores
- 17:21Speaker 5: will do that, but not a huge selling point for
- 17:27Speaker 5: most stores. So I wish that was another area there
- 17:30Speaker 5: was a little more flexibility in how things work these days.
- 17:36Speaker 3: Yeah, but they can't give unlimited flexibility because then any
- 17:40Speaker 3: can anyone can just do whatever they want and then
- 17:42Speaker 3: get unlimited Adventure Pass and people are going to exploit
- 17:46Speaker 3: the system. So I understand that they have some constraints
- 17:50Speaker 3: in place.
- 17:52Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean obviously, But at the same time, my
- 17:56Speaker 5: point kind of is if someone abuses the Adventure Pass,
- 18:00Speaker 5: what is what do they get?
- 18:01Speaker 4: Oh, they get digital.
- 18:04Speaker 5: Cards and and they're worth like a dollar for free,
- 18:09Speaker 5: and that we've already seen abuse of it before.
- 18:12Speaker 4: And when it's like actually abused, they it's very easy
- 18:18Speaker 4: to like crack down on.
- 18:20Speaker 5: Yeah, this person is obviously not doing sixty events in
- 18:23Speaker 5: one week, we should probably be on their account. But yeah,
- 18:28Speaker 5: I do wish I could have placed a retailer order
- 18:33Speaker 5: and through the website.
- 18:36Speaker 1: I mean to be honest with you, We do that
- 18:39Speaker 1: with key Forge. Now. Yeah. The only reason we get
- 18:42Speaker 1: to though is that is Dan is very good friends
- 18:45Speaker 1: with a store owner, so he's able to use their
- 18:49Speaker 1: store account. Basically, guy, what do you guys want to order?
- 18:53Speaker 1: Order will right, and we kind of go from there.
- 18:56Speaker 1: So we kind of have that ability to do that.
- 18:59Speaker 1: So it's it's one of those things I don't I
- 19:02Speaker 1: don't know what to tell you, because like there's no
- 19:04Speaker 1: stores in my area I got, I got no stores
- 19:07Speaker 1: really doing anything, you know. So it's I don't know,
- 19:12Speaker 1: one of those weird strange things of what do you do? Like,
- 19:14Speaker 1: even if I wanted to like start something up, how
- 19:17Speaker 1: would I go about it? Because I don't have any products.
- 19:23Speaker 3: Stores even stocking product within like thirty minutes of you.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Oh no, not within thirty closest is an hour away, okay,
- 19:31Speaker 1: down in uh Sanctum gaming down by the border. Yes,
- 19:37Speaker 1: this is a.
- 19:40Speaker 5: Good, good little point because the episode that I wrote
- 19:44Speaker 5: that we were going to do for the last one
- 19:46Speaker 5: but ended up uh bantering or venting or.
- 19:53Speaker 1: Riffing.
- 19:54Speaker 5: Riffing is about you know, Altered is saved now what?
- 20:00Speaker 5: And I think last episode we went into a couple
- 20:03Speaker 5: of uh key dates and things like that. But the
- 20:09Speaker 5: other stuff I want to talk about is like, well,
- 20:13Speaker 5: this next period is going to be a little interesting,
- 20:17Speaker 5: so like what the what the hell do we do now?
- 20:21Speaker 1: So we can go through quick on the timeline. I
- 20:23Speaker 1: don't know if we did it last time. Obviously we're
- 20:27Speaker 1: through some of the dates already. The game found campaign
- 20:31Speaker 1: started on the twenty eighth. The seventh was the pledge
- 20:33Speaker 1: manager seventh of November fourteenth, and went into manufacturing. They're
- 20:38Speaker 1: going to start shipping December. We don't have a date
- 20:42Speaker 1: for December, do we? Yeah? No, November, So okay, I'm
- 20:48Speaker 1: not sure what the difference.
- 20:49Speaker 2: Pretty good, start shipping it, so.
- 20:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I just we're shipping and then we're order processing.
- 20:59Speaker 2: Yeah that's in the black order.
- 21:01Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 21:01Speaker 5: Now you got to think about how manufacturing and shipping works.
- 21:05Speaker 4: Is they're going.
- 21:07Speaker 5: To start shipping out to the stores most likely, and
- 21:14Speaker 5: maybe those certain things have to come over on like
- 21:18Speaker 5: a boat or a plane or whatever. And then you know,
- 21:22Speaker 5: maybe they'll go to a warehouse and then they'll get
- 21:25Speaker 5: sent off to each store location based on where they are.
- 21:30Speaker 5: That's probably the order processing part is like oh, okay,
- 21:33Speaker 5: say they have one warehouse in the in the United States,
- 21:37Speaker 5: one in the EU, one in Asia, whatever, all of
- 21:40Speaker 5: the shipments go out to those, they process the orders,
- 21:43Speaker 5: and then they get sent to the stores.
- 21:45Speaker 4: This is just an example. It's I'm not saying that's
- 21:48Speaker 4: exactly how they do it.
- 21:50Speaker 5: But then it'll go to the stores, and then stores
- 21:53Speaker 5: will have the launch in February. The important thing for
- 21:58Speaker 5: like singular people is you won't get your your actual
- 22:04Speaker 5: like game found order until early February.
- 22:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:10Speaker 5: I think another reason that this timeline is a little
- 22:14Speaker 5: more expanded, and I think we did talk about it
- 22:17Speaker 5: before is Chinese New Year.
- 22:20Speaker 1: Yeah, we did talk about a little bit.
- 22:23Speaker 5: And then just holidays in general, so you know, give
- 22:26Speaker 5: it a little extra padding so that that is the
- 22:33Speaker 5: like general timeline. I feel like there is a launch date.
- 22:37Speaker 4: Which I'm going to look for.
- 22:40Speaker 5: I thought it was like February twenty fifth or something,
- 22:45Speaker 5: But that's when you would expect like actual pre release
- 22:50Speaker 5: or launch dates at stores, if store, if you're store ordered,
- 22:57Speaker 5: the other important dates outside of like when it.
- 23:03Speaker 4: Is actually available in stories.
- 23:06Speaker 5: I wish I wrote that date down because now I
- 23:10Speaker 5: don't remember. Oh I guess it just says sets release
- 23:13Speaker 5: in early February twenty twenty six, okay, and then they're
- 23:17Speaker 5: going to release more information in January.
- 23:22Speaker 2: Okay, so it'll probably be late February. But yeah, we.
- 23:26Speaker 5: Don't have a hard set date, which means I didn't
- 23:29Speaker 5: forget to write it down.
- 23:30Speaker 4: Because it doesn't exist.
- 23:32Speaker 5: But yep, the other important dates to individuals are going
- 23:40Speaker 5: to be the next two weeks essentially. And that's because
- 23:47Speaker 5: and this is actually a topic that a lot of
- 23:49Speaker 5: people had misunderstandings about, is the whole payment processing thing.
- 24:00Speaker 5: They basically have fourteen days to collect your payment starting
- 24:06Speaker 5: on November fourteenth, So that basically just ended, and a
- 24:11Speaker 5: lot of people were like, I was charged day one
- 24:14Speaker 5: and cool that that means you had enough of in
- 24:17Speaker 5: your bank account, your card was charged successfully, and you're
- 24:20Speaker 5: good to go. But those fourteen days are like a buffer.
- 24:23Speaker 5: If someone's card declines, they have a chance to you know,
- 24:26Speaker 5: change it, whatever it may be, and then whatever they
- 24:30Speaker 5: don't collect after the end of that fourteen days is
- 24:33Speaker 5: basically a canceled order opening the first which is tomorrow,
- 24:39Speaker 5: December first. For us, here is technically the pledge manager,
- 24:47Speaker 5: which will allow you to provide your address and any
- 24:51Speaker 5: details for shipping and things like that, and then that'll
- 24:54Speaker 5: close on December eighth. I think after this is when
- 25:01Speaker 5: you would expect those uniques.
- 25:03Speaker 4: That you ordered.
- 25:05Speaker 5: I'm guessing the second week of December. Maybe we'll get
- 25:10Speaker 5: lucky and some of them will start coming in, you know,
- 25:13Speaker 5: the first week of December. But just based on how
- 25:17Speaker 5: the payments are processed, the update to your address and
- 25:21Speaker 5: shipping and locking it up, things like that.
- 25:23Speaker 4: I would assume the second week of December.
- 25:26Speaker 1: Are they allowing any modifications to order, any any additions
- 25:31Speaker 1: to like because obviously they had a few things like
- 25:33Speaker 1: any additions to the order or anything like that during
- 25:36Speaker 1: that pledge manager time.
- 25:38Speaker 2: Nope, nope.
- 25:39Speaker 5: So how they did it is to extend the actual
- 25:43Speaker 5: length of the game found to incorporate like stretch goals
- 25:47Speaker 5: and things like that. Is they they basically extended it
- 25:50Speaker 5: for the length of what would have been a pledge Manager.
- 25:54Speaker 5: So technically there is no real pledge manager.
- 25:57Speaker 4: It's just when they open.
- 25:58Speaker 5: That you'll be able to provide your shipping, but you
- 26:01Speaker 5: won't be able to change your order.
- 26:03Speaker 7: Oh I was hoping maybe I could add some things,
- 26:05Speaker 7: but that's Okay, it's okay, okay, yeah, because I know,
- 26:09Speaker 7: like Keyfords were allowed to, like during that pledge Manager time,
- 26:12Speaker 7: like you're able to if already add ons that maybe
- 26:14Speaker 7: you wanted to add.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Or all that you could do.
- 26:17Speaker 2: That time has already passed.
- 26:18Speaker 3: They had that pledge manager already, and now it's the
- 26:21Speaker 3: pledge manager part where it's just pretty much put your
- 26:23Speaker 3: address in and.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Pay yeah like well like but like again during keyfde
- 26:28Speaker 1: pledge Manager right like and again it's it's just a
- 26:31Speaker 1: little different. It's not a big deal. It's just a
- 26:32Speaker 1: little different. You're able to, Like I was able to
- 26:35Speaker 1: add a couple of items. Now I didn't order any
- 26:39Speaker 1: I didn't order any sad Dragons, but you know, for
- 26:42Speaker 1: the last couple ones, I was able to do a
- 26:44Speaker 1: couple of add ons and do what I wanted. But
- 26:47Speaker 1: not a big deal. I'll just I.
- 26:49Speaker 5: Think if they've learned anything from this first game found
- 26:53Speaker 5: the next one will be more clear, and the next
- 26:57Speaker 5: one will have a pledge manager specifically like that where
- 27:01Speaker 5: you are able to do that, but who will will
- 27:04Speaker 5: have to see when that launch.
- 27:06Speaker 1: I was going to say, the next one is the
- 27:08Speaker 1: next one is going to be is that going to
- 27:10Speaker 1: be like, Oh, if we don't hit two point five,
- 27:11Speaker 1: we're just refunding everybody.
- 27:14Speaker 5: I don't know, We'll have to uh, we'll have to
- 27:17Speaker 5: see what they update and you know what streamlining they made,
- 27:22Speaker 5: things like that, and then hopefully they have you know,
- 27:28Speaker 5: a realistic goal for what the game Found needs to
- 27:31Speaker 5: hit and then have stretch goals in Yeah, stretch goals included,
- 27:37Speaker 5: because I think I think another.
- 27:38Speaker 1: Way, like with where they sit right and just where
- 27:42Speaker 1: they sit as a company, right, like it might be
- 27:45Speaker 1: time to abandon the whole like this is a pre
- 27:48Speaker 1: order and just be like, this is the game Found,
- 27:51Speaker 1: this is what we need to keep this game moving
- 27:54Speaker 1: in the correct direction. Right.
- 27:56Speaker 5: So, Yeah, And there was there was someone in the
- 27:59Speaker 5: in the comments of last episode, upset that we we
- 28:03Speaker 5: didn't say or talk about how it was heavily implied
- 28:08Speaker 5: that it was just a pre order.
- 28:09Speaker 1: I mean, I mean maybe I didn't, maybe I didn't
- 28:13Speaker 1: beat the horse, but I definitely said something about it,
- 28:17Speaker 1: because yeah, it was this was originally a this was
- 28:20Speaker 1: originally not a big a deal. It was just a
- 28:26Speaker 1: pre order, and then all of a sudden saying maybe
- 28:29Speaker 1: it is a big deal. I did say something, but
- 28:32Speaker 1: maybe maybe I think maybe I didn't beat that horse
- 28:35Speaker 1: enough for them.
- 28:37Speaker 4: Yeah we did.
- 28:37Speaker 5: We did talk about it and the semantics of all
- 28:41Speaker 5: of that, and then you know, a.
- 28:43Speaker 1: Maybe pre order means something different in French.
- 28:46Speaker 4: I think it's the same.
- 28:48Speaker 5: Like to me, it's the same. It doesn't fucking matter.
- 28:50Speaker 5: It's the same, like it is a pre order, and
- 28:53Speaker 5: it's if you know, it upsets people that a pre
- 28:57Speaker 5: order shouldn't have a goal.
- 28:59Speaker 4: That I guess I understand.
- 29:02Speaker 5: I I will say we were all blindsided, me included,
- 29:06Speaker 5: and we were all upset that they were like we
- 29:09Speaker 5: actually need this amount of money or we're gonna close,
- 29:12Speaker 5: Like I did not have any expectation of that. But
- 29:17Speaker 5: I think the whole pre order versus like fundraising, YadA YadA.
- 29:21Speaker 4: It's just like it's just words.
- 29:24Speaker 5: To me, it's still a pre order because whatever is
- 29:27Speaker 5: ordered is all that's going to be printed.
- 29:30Speaker 1: You are killing me. They're just tomato, tomato. It's not
- 29:36Speaker 1: like these things have any meaning, like they're made up.
- 29:40Speaker 1: They're just words.
- 29:42Speaker 4: It's like they're made up.
- 29:43Speaker 1: I mean, And I guess maybe pre order means something
- 29:46Speaker 1: different to you than it does to me. I don't know.
- 29:49Speaker 1: I guess these things are all relative right in the
- 29:52Speaker 1: meaning of things, but like pre ordered, I mean means like, yeah,
- 29:56Speaker 1: if we get there, we get there. But you know,
- 29:58Speaker 1: really we want you to go to your to your local.
- 30:00Speaker 1: But then all of a sudden, being blindsided like that,
- 30:02Speaker 1: it was like ah, but actually it was like whoa
- 30:06Speaker 1: wait a minute, I feel bamboozled. But that's I feel
- 30:12Speaker 1: like we've beat that horse and we're done with that horse. Yeah,
- 30:15Speaker 1: so yeah, all right, altered bigger presence on BGG, Now, yeah.
- 30:23Speaker 5: There was there was a really big push to start
- 30:27Speaker 5: having more altered information on Board Game Geek. People started
- 30:33Speaker 5: posting reviews and pictures and different information about the expansions
- 30:40Speaker 5: and everything. And I had an account for a long
- 30:45Speaker 5: time that I just never used, or maybe I never
- 30:48Speaker 5: had an account and I just looked at it but
- 30:51Speaker 5: didn't sign in.
- 30:53Speaker 4: So I was like, sure, I'll do that.
- 30:54Speaker 5: So there's just been kind of a big push by
- 30:57Speaker 5: the community to get altered out there in in more
- 31:00Speaker 5: places in general. So that was one of the really
- 31:03Speaker 5: positive things to see during the campaign.
- 31:06Speaker 1: You know what it is, this is this is always
- 31:09Speaker 1: a question of how do you get what is a
- 31:13Speaker 1: good effective way to get because this is something we've
- 31:16Speaker 1: talked about again in Keyfarge for a while. What is
- 31:19Speaker 1: a really good effective way to get a game that
- 31:23Speaker 1: you are incredibly passionate for into the public space? Right?
- 31:31Speaker 1: Because it's not it's like everyone's like just put it
- 31:34Speaker 1: out there, and it's like it is not as easy
- 31:38Speaker 1: as it sounds, right, because it's like, well they need
- 31:41Speaker 1: to do it, because we've had this discussion so many well,
- 31:43Speaker 1: they need to do more advertising. Well, where do you
- 31:45Speaker 1: advertise in a place that people are going to see it? Right?
- 31:48Speaker 1: Because you can advertise on Facebook because even during the
- 31:51Speaker 1: game Found we talked about people who are in the
- 31:54Speaker 1: space not they don't see it. Okay, Well, now what right,
- 31:58Speaker 1: because if they don't see it, we're in trouble. Where
- 32:02Speaker 1: where exactly do you advertise that you're able to get
- 32:09Speaker 1: a following and get something going. Right. That's yeah, that's
- 32:14Speaker 1: such a that's such a difficult thing because it's it's
- 32:17Speaker 1: not like there's like back in my day, you guys
- 32:20Speaker 1: may may or may not remember these like you had
- 32:23Speaker 1: Inquest magazine, you had Scry, You had things that people bought,
- 32:28Speaker 1: you know, magazines and whatnot that were a constant thing,
- 32:33Speaker 1: like you bought them every month when they came out,
- 32:35Speaker 1: and you were able to put your put your product
- 32:38Speaker 1: in there, and you know they they they had articles
- 32:41Speaker 1: and you would get ranked and all this stuff. And
- 32:44Speaker 1: now it's like where do you put The Internet is
- 32:46Speaker 1: such a vast place that you kind of have to
- 32:51Speaker 1: just like And I guess a lot of people, especially myself,
- 32:56Speaker 1: look to like a flush and Blood. Like what made
- 33:01Speaker 1: Flesh and Blood pop so big with people? Was it
- 33:05Speaker 1: just right place, right time? Right? Like what did they
- 33:09Speaker 1: do that everyone else isn't doing to make their game popular?
- 33:14Speaker 1: And the ability to kind of explode in the way
- 33:17Speaker 1: it did.
- 33:18Speaker 5: Yeah, Flesh and Blood is interesting. And Flesh and Blood
- 33:24Speaker 5: does not even have any organized play anywhere near me,
- 33:28Speaker 5: Like I could technically go to altered organized play easier
- 33:31Speaker 5: than Flesh and Blood.
- 33:33Speaker 1: So which it's so bizarre, isn't it? Because again, same
- 33:38Speaker 1: thing like I played Flesh and Blood for a little bit.
- 33:42Speaker 1: There are no Flesh and Blood locals to me. But yeah,
- 33:45Speaker 1: this game is pulling thousands of people to these events.
- 33:51Speaker 1: It's just like, well, where are these people coming from?
- 33:54Speaker 1: Is it small pockets? How are you even getting out
- 33:57Speaker 1: and going out and being able to play in a
- 33:58Speaker 1: low like I don't even have a local name. How
- 34:00Speaker 1: are you doing it? Right? It's just to me, it's
- 34:04Speaker 1: right now. How a game lives and breathes is kind
- 34:07Speaker 1: of fascinating because it's like it seems so random.
- 34:12Speaker 5: Yeah, I think, to me, the thing that always remains
- 34:16Speaker 5: true and it's it's hard because it's not really something
- 34:19Speaker 5: companies can do, but it really like is in the
- 34:23Speaker 5: hands of the community. And there are a lot of
- 34:26Speaker 5: people that are like, oh, I want to do this,
- 34:29Speaker 5: I want to support it, I want to you know,
- 34:32Speaker 5: make sure this lives and grows. What can I do?
- 34:35Speaker 5: And you tell them like, oh, engage with it, like
- 34:38Speaker 5: share it with your friends, and maybe, you know, for
- 34:41Speaker 5: a day or two they'll they'll do that, you know,
- 34:44Speaker 5: comment on you know, YouTube video, share YouTube videos, share
- 34:48Speaker 5: this podcast, whatever. But then you know, it's the age
- 34:53Speaker 5: of choice and two days.
- 34:56Speaker 4: Later they're like, oh, new shiny thing, and you know
- 35:00Speaker 4: it goes to the side.
- 35:01Speaker 5: Yeah. Other than that, I think one thing that I've
- 35:05Speaker 5: noticed that actually does bring in a lot of new
- 35:08Speaker 5: faces and new players is conventions and presents at conventions,
- 35:14Speaker 5: which is hard because it's one of the most.
- 35:16Speaker 1: Exactly see, And I don't know if that's necessarily like
- 35:19Speaker 1: one hundred percent true either because but in it looks
- 35:22Speaker 1: like you just said it because I was gonna say
- 35:24Speaker 1: it's it is the most expensive way to do things
- 35:28Speaker 1: as well.
- 35:29Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm not I'm not sure if it is the
- 35:32Speaker 5: best way in a term of life for acquisition.
- 35:37Speaker 1: But I don't know if you necessarily at conventions necessarily
- 35:41Speaker 1: acquire that person forever. I don't know if that person
- 35:44Speaker 1: goes home is like, hey, you check out this new
- 35:46Speaker 1: cool thing, let's grab a bunch of it and start playing,
- 35:50Speaker 1: and then gets like really into it because it's almost
- 35:52Speaker 1: like you're like I remember, and I'm just gonna go
- 35:55Speaker 1: Way back in the day at gen Con, there was
- 35:57Speaker 1: a game called Seventh Seas or Seventh Seeds seventh c
- 36:01Speaker 1: one of the two, and man, they were handing out
- 36:03Speaker 1: like if you did a demo, they gave you a
- 36:05Speaker 1: starter deck, and man, you could just do demo after
- 36:07Speaker 1: demo after demo after demo and just get a bunch
- 36:09Speaker 1: of starter decks, and even free product wasn't bringing people
- 36:13Speaker 1: into the game, right, Even just giving away starter decks
- 36:17Speaker 1: and giving people the ability to play just like it
- 36:20Speaker 1: never took off. It was a good game, just it
- 36:24Speaker 1: would never had that never grew the legs to take off.
- 36:27Speaker 1: So what what do you do? Free product doesn't work?
- 36:31Speaker 1: You know, like even like going to the convention, because
- 36:34Speaker 1: like you get hyped for those four days and you
- 36:36Speaker 1: get really into it, but then like when you go home,
- 36:39Speaker 1: does it just end up in the pile? Right, that
- 36:42Speaker 1: the pile of stuff that you never look at again. Like,
- 36:45Speaker 1: how do you grab people? Nowaday, especially today twenty twenty five,
- 36:49Speaker 1: is so difficult to grab and hold people's attention because
- 36:54Speaker 1: like as soon as you come out with something new,
- 36:56Speaker 1: Magic's like, hey, check it out, We're doing something weird
- 36:59Speaker 1: with our product again, what the hell? And it's exactly
- 37:04Speaker 1: like you said, it's ooh, piece of candy, right, and
- 37:07Speaker 1: like now your your tension is drawn away again?
- 37:10Speaker 4: Yeah, I think?
- 37:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:12Speaker 4: Really.
- 37:13Speaker 5: The reason I say conventions is because I pay way
- 37:16Speaker 5: too much attention to like the Discord, and sometimes I'll
- 37:19Speaker 5: go on the Reddit that after a convention is the
- 37:22Speaker 5: most I've ever seen like new people coming in and
- 37:26Speaker 5: saying like, oh, hey, I'm a new player, like new
- 37:29Speaker 5: player here, blah blah blah. I saw the game at
- 37:31Speaker 5: Gen con or whatever. But outside of that, I think
- 37:34Speaker 5: it's really just community and how many people are in
- 37:38Speaker 5: the community is what keeps it alive because shout out
- 37:42Speaker 5: to like a guy trying and their group, they've you know,
- 37:47Speaker 5: been really consistent and their their playgroup is going really well.
- 37:53Speaker 5: They're like two v two pros, And every time I
- 37:58Speaker 5: hear about that location, they're always you know, ordering a bunch.
- 38:03Speaker 5: So I don't know, it's if you want the game
- 38:06Speaker 5: to to grow and to live longer, you you got
- 38:10Speaker 5: to just share your love for it. Is really the
- 38:14Speaker 5: only thing we can do. The rest is up to
- 38:17Speaker 5: the company and whatever they do.
- 38:21Speaker 1: Mm hmm. It's not the answer I wanted. You wanted
- 38:26Speaker 1: a concrete I wanted to here is here is a
- 38:30Speaker 1: seventh step plan to me? And it's it's again, it's
- 38:34Speaker 1: one of these things I've been looking for for years
- 38:38Speaker 1: upon years upon years upon yours, right, And it's just
- 38:42Speaker 1: like there is no concrete plan, like even games back,
- 38:46Speaker 1: like you can have a good ip, like look at
- 38:48Speaker 1: like dragon Ball is a dragon Ball super now, Like
- 38:51Speaker 1: even that game is like it pretty popular still I've
- 38:54Speaker 1: never seen it played in any of my locals. Right,
- 38:58Speaker 1: And if I wanted to get a If I wanted
- 39:00Speaker 1: to get that going, I would never be like, it's
- 39:01Speaker 1: just I don't know. It's again, it's it's a fascinating
- 39:06Speaker 1: time to be involved in CCG's. We're having another big boom.
- 39:10Speaker 1: If you guys remember back in like two thousand and five,
- 39:12Speaker 1: you had big CCG booms and then it kind of
- 39:15Speaker 1: all contracted again, and now it's that cyclical time where yep,
- 39:19Speaker 1: everything is getting a CCG again kind of happens like
- 39:22Speaker 1: every five years. It's like, you have this big boom
- 39:25Speaker 1: and if you can survive the contraction, you're in good shape.
- 39:30Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 39:32Speaker 5: I saw a video come across my YouTube feed, and
- 39:35Speaker 5: I don't remember who it's from, but it was basically
- 39:38Speaker 5: like the TCG industry is in like a huge bubble
- 39:43Speaker 5: right now, and I do not envy anyone who is
- 39:48Speaker 5: creating a new TCG with a new IP any month
- 39:54Speaker 5: forward from here until yeah, it's no longer.
- 39:57Speaker 1: A bubble because it feels well. Number one, the bubbles
- 40:00Speaker 1: got to burst somewhere. That's number one, and then number two,
- 40:04Speaker 1: like if you don't have like a strong ip behind it,
- 40:07Speaker 1: like I I fully believe, is it riftbound? Right? Is
- 40:12Speaker 1: the news. If that did not have a Legal Legends
- 40:16Speaker 1: and I I'm gonna hot take from Wookie it might
- 40:19Speaker 1: be a bad take. That game will not survive. And
- 40:26Speaker 1: I'm gonna tell you why.
- 40:27Speaker 3: Yeah, if it didn't, if it did not have the
- 40:29Speaker 3: League of Legends IP, it would have.
- 40:32Speaker 1: The Legal Legends IP, it would not survive. And I
- 40:35Speaker 1: don't think it's going to survive just because it has
- 40:39Speaker 1: the Legal Legends IP. Like a lot of video games
- 40:44Speaker 1: don't translate well into card games. Right. That's that's my
- 40:50Speaker 1: first point. And then the second point is normally people
- 40:52Speaker 1: just go back to the video game over time because
- 40:56Speaker 1: of just I mean, how much does it cost you
- 40:59Speaker 1: to play Legal Legends zero? And how much and how
- 41:04Speaker 1: much is that does.
- 41:04Speaker 2: Well actually your mental health.
- 41:06Speaker 1: Well whatever, still costs zero dollars.
- 41:10Speaker 5: Technically, it also technically costs zero dollars to play Riftband
- 41:15Speaker 5: because you can't get any product.
- 41:17Speaker 1: Well yes, yep, so true, right, And that's and that's
- 41:21Speaker 1: a big killer of games sometimes too, is people get crazy.
- 41:26Speaker 1: And usually what happens is that's the whales out there
- 41:29Speaker 1: who are like, I'm gonna buy it all, and then
- 41:31Speaker 1: that kind of kills the game because nobody can get anything.
- 41:34Speaker 1: It's like, well, if I can't get anything, I can't
- 41:36Speaker 1: play it, so whatever, don't care. And then again the
- 41:39Speaker 1: add of twenty twenty five, we kind of all just
- 41:42Speaker 1: move on.
- 41:42Speaker 5: So, yeah, you're you're a big Star Wars fan, right,
- 41:47Speaker 5: wie huge?
- 41:48Speaker 4: Yeah the place? Why don't you play Star Wars Unlimited?
- 41:54Speaker 1: Mainly it was because I couldn't get product way back when,
- 41:58Speaker 1: and that's that's not that's that's not just a bit
- 42:01Speaker 1: for the joke. Back of the day. When I started,
- 42:03Speaker 1: I was able to get one booster box, and I
- 42:05Speaker 1: bought one booster Box, and then I went to go
- 42:07Speaker 1: buy another one, and you were not able to get
- 42:10Speaker 1: Set one and able to exist, right, you were not
- 42:12Speaker 1: able to get Set one anymore. So I went into
- 42:15Speaker 1: the secondary market. I bought a whole bunch of stuff
- 42:18Speaker 1: to build the deck I wanted to build, and then
- 42:20Speaker 1: I couldn't find local organized play, so oh it just
- 42:26Speaker 1: I was like, so I spent all this money to
- 42:28Speaker 1: go build a deck and now I can't find anywhere
- 42:31Speaker 1: to play it. So eventually I just sold what I
- 42:33Speaker 1: had and gave up because I was like, I can't
- 42:37Speaker 1: get product, I can't go play. Why what am I doing.
- 42:42Speaker 5: Yeah, do you think it was a Do you think
- 42:44Speaker 5: it's a better game than key Forge mechanically?
- 42:48Speaker 1: No, it's about on par on par It's about on
- 42:52Speaker 1: par with key Forge. I wouldn't say key Forge is
- 42:54Speaker 1: any better or worse, Like key Forge is just different
- 42:57Speaker 1: because of the fact you can't change the deck, right,
- 43:01Speaker 1: So it's just it's it's about on par. I mean,
- 43:05Speaker 1: they're different. They're hard to judge each other, right, It's
- 43:11Speaker 1: I want I So I'm still stuck in the old
- 43:15Speaker 1: days of like, oh, you just buy a deck and
- 43:17Speaker 1: it's all about player skill. I even though I know
- 43:20Speaker 1: I'm lying to myself because it's like it has nothing
- 43:23Speaker 1: to do with player skill. You get a bad deck,
- 43:25Speaker 1: just you might as well just throw that thing away
- 43:27Speaker 1: and forget your days, you know, forget about your day.
- 43:31Speaker 5: Yep, Yeah, I think you and I are similar in
- 43:36Speaker 5: like IP does not rule everything, Like I love Star Wars.
- 43:41Speaker 4: My room is full of all sorts of collectibles.
- 43:45Speaker 5: But I'm not like IP blind. Unfortunately, a lot of
- 43:51Speaker 5: people very much are, because I have never heard a
- 43:55Speaker 5: single person say laar Khana is actually a really well
- 43:58Speaker 5: made game. It's usually Lauracana sucks, but it's Disney and
- 44:04Speaker 5: you know so and so or I love Disney, or
- 44:07Speaker 5: I love this so I play it.
- 44:08Speaker 1: So, yeah, Kana is just magic backwards. I don't know
- 44:13Speaker 1: if anybody's ever noticed that, it's literally just magic backwards.
- 44:20Speaker 4: I have not touched it, so I cannot comment.
- 44:24Speaker 1: Yeah, so Lauracana is literally just magic backwards, right, instead
- 44:28Speaker 1: of starting at twenty life. Yeah, basically our quarter reaping
- 44:35Speaker 1: or I forget what its inking or something like that,
- 44:38Speaker 1: questing thank you to get to to get to twenty lore.
- 44:43Speaker 1: So you're there, You're literally just going backwards. There's a
- 44:46Speaker 1: few nuances of it, right, and there's a few reasons
- 44:49Speaker 1: like why cards are good and and so on and
- 44:51Speaker 1: so forth, but overall, like this is just magic backwards. Yeah,
- 44:57Speaker 1: that's really what laura Kana is. Like. There's again a
- 45:00Speaker 1: few nuances in there that make it different, but other
- 45:02Speaker 1: than that, it's it is pretty much the gathering. But
- 45:06Speaker 1: because like if you were to just have its own
- 45:09Speaker 1: IP behind it, like the Larkana eyep of whatever it is,
- 45:13Speaker 1: that game would have failed.
- 45:16Speaker 5: Yeah, and and yeah, I think that's my point is
- 45:20Speaker 5: what you and I may not be IP blind, but
- 45:22Speaker 5: so many people are that it's it may just last
- 45:27Speaker 5: many years to come, especially with riot money and oh yeah.
- 45:31Speaker 1: But no, no, it's it's it's gonna last. It's just
- 45:34Speaker 1: not gonna last. It's not gonna be one of it's
- 45:36Speaker 1: not gonna be your next Pokemon. It's not the Magic
- 45:39Speaker 1: killer that people are out there kind of saying it's
- 45:41Speaker 1: going to be, because it's you're never gonna Let's just
- 45:44Speaker 1: get those through your head people, You're never gonna kill Magic.
- 45:49Speaker 1: It is just it is a juggernaut. The only thing
- 45:52Speaker 1: that's gonna kill Magic legitimately is Hasbro. Hasbro will kill
- 45:59Speaker 1: Magical long before Magic kills itself.
- 46:02Speaker 5: Your Magic can't die because it's basically the doll Fruit company.
- 46:10Speaker 4: They'll just rebrand or something.
- 46:12Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know if you could rebrand it,
- 46:14Speaker 1: but because now it's like so it's been around for
- 46:17Speaker 1: so long. But like, just what's going to kill Magic
- 46:21Speaker 1: is going to be Hasbro. Hasbro will eventually kill Magic.
- 46:27Speaker 4: Yeah, but I mean a company.
- 46:30Speaker 5: Yeah, if a company gets so massive, they won't really
- 46:33Speaker 5: just die. They'll just you know, change their name or
- 46:36Speaker 5: you know, spin off or something.
- 46:38Speaker 4: Because much like United.
- 46:41Speaker 5: Fruit did genocide, they still sell bananas today.
- 46:45Speaker 4: So just Tom that are a different name.
- 46:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I can't disagree with you. I don't know. I
- 46:49Speaker 1: don't know. Only time will tell, I said, I don't think.
- 46:52Speaker 1: I Every every two seconds I hear Magic player going
- 46:56Speaker 1: this game is dead. And it's like, yeah, they're quarterly,
- 46:59Speaker 1: they're orderly thing, and you're like, ah, they you know,
- 47:02Speaker 1: just remember last year they fired like thirty five percent
- 47:05Speaker 1: of their workforce literally two weeks before Christmas and still
- 47:10Speaker 1: like and we just don't even blink an eye, right like,
- 47:13Speaker 1: and everyone just nobody even blinks an eye. You fired,
- 47:17Speaker 1: You fired a third of your workforce two weeks before Christmas.
- 47:20Speaker 1: And everyone's like yeah, but Magic, like get out of here.
- 47:24Speaker 6: Yeah, all all of that to say, Uh, speaking of
- 47:29Speaker 6: ways to grow a game, Uh, they expanded the Hive
- 47:34Speaker 6: to everyone.
- 47:36Speaker 5: And if you want the game to continue and you
- 47:39Speaker 5: want to share your love of it and you want
- 47:41Speaker 5: to get a little kickback, little reward direct from Equinox,
- 47:46Speaker 5: you can look up. As of now, it is the
- 47:49Speaker 5: most recent article.
- 47:51Speaker 1: Can you explain the Hive to me? I was reading
- 47:54Speaker 1: this article the other day and I am utterly confused.
- 47:58Speaker 5: Yeah, so basically a while back, we started it as
- 48:01Speaker 5: a little bit of a beta where basically, if you
- 48:06Speaker 5: go to a store and you run a learn to play,
- 48:10Speaker 5: we were tracking you know, certain stores, certain areas like
- 48:15Speaker 5: Dallas was a focus area, but now it's open to everyone,
- 48:22Speaker 5: and it's a lot of information to just go over
- 48:25Speaker 5: on the cast. But if you look up the article
- 48:28Speaker 5: if you're interested, it'll have all the details. But too
- 48:32Speaker 5: long didn't read is if you go do one of
- 48:36Speaker 5: those learned to plays at your local store and you
- 48:43Speaker 5: submit a report on it, you will get a reward.
- 48:48Speaker 5: So for each validated mission, you'll get one full faction
- 48:52Speaker 5: Adventure pass credited at the end of the season. So
- 48:55Speaker 5: if you pick like Muna, you'll get all of the
- 48:58Speaker 5: Muna Adventure press along.
- 49:00Speaker 1: Oh sorry, I'm I immuted at the wrong time. My bad,
- 49:06Speaker 1: My bad.
- 49:08Speaker 5: For every three validated missions, which is reputable, you'll get
- 49:11Speaker 5: fifty euros in pod credit. Uh And there is actually
- 49:16Speaker 5: a funny story because I did a couple of these
- 49:18Speaker 5: last season, and UH in talks, who is who you
- 49:23Speaker 5: will talk to about these missions sent me a message
- 49:27Speaker 5: and was like, what faction do you want? And I
- 49:30Speaker 5: just didn't even think, and I said, Muna, I had
- 49:33Speaker 5: already earned all of Muna myself.
- 49:35Speaker 4: I was like, damn it, I should have said something else.
- 49:39Speaker 2: Did you get twice the rewards for Muna?
- 49:42Speaker 4: Yep?
- 49:44Speaker 2: Nice?
- 49:46Speaker 1: Why is that nice? What is he going to do
- 49:48Speaker 1: with those?
- 49:49Speaker 2: Now?
- 49:49Speaker 3: You have double the amount of Muna alternate art cards
- 49:53Speaker 3: just for like a dollar apiece.
- 49:55Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I just sold them.
- 49:58Speaker 1: So yeah.
- 49:58Speaker 5: If you want to teach people the game, you want
- 50:01Speaker 5: a store to, you know, think about having organized play.
- 50:05Speaker 5: There's a little way to do it and get a
- 50:08Speaker 5: reward for yourself as well.
- 50:13Speaker 1: All right, what else do we got on the list?
- 50:16Speaker 5: I think we covered a lot of what's on here.
- 50:20Speaker 5: One of the notes that's changed since we well since
- 50:27Speaker 5: I wrote this episode, is we were going to talk
- 50:29Speaker 5: a little bit about how A Wall is no longer happening.
- 50:34Speaker 5: I think enough people have talked about it and mentioned
- 50:36Speaker 5: it and gone through the reasonings and whatnot. If you
- 50:40Speaker 5: for some reason, like awall and didn't hear about it.
- 50:44Speaker 5: You can see Simon's message still on the A Wall discord.
- 50:48Speaker 5: But the good news is is the Altered Aces team
- 50:53Speaker 5: have started up a replacement tournament for Mondays.
- 50:57Speaker 4: I think it's almost the exact same time.
- 51:00Speaker 5: Is A Wall just thirty minutes later, So for me,
- 51:02Speaker 5: it's twelve thirty pm CST, and the Awall casting team
- 51:10Speaker 5: will continue casting that and it'll be on the Awall
- 51:14Speaker 5: YouTube as usual, so you can still get your your
- 51:19Speaker 5: Monday tournament. Goodness, I'm like the Scrooge of everyone and saying,
- 51:27Speaker 5: there's no reason to try really hard to make a
- 51:30Speaker 5: Wednesday replacement.
- 51:33Speaker 4: The US time zones are just not.
- 51:36Speaker 5: Super populated, and if you really want to play in
- 51:42Speaker 5: US time, there are already other tournaments like ACE on Tuesdays,
- 51:49Speaker 5: So if that gets up to sixty four players, then
- 51:52Speaker 5: maybe we need to find another US based, you know,
- 51:57Speaker 5: weeknight tournament.
- 51:58Speaker 4: But there are tons of options now.
- 52:01Speaker 5: So Mondays were the most popular, and there will be
- 52:05Speaker 5: a alternative so you can still have your fun. And
- 52:09Speaker 5: they've started putting together a lot of really cool prizes
- 52:13Speaker 5: and rewards in conjunction with some French stores and companies
- 52:20Speaker 5: out there, so look it up.
- 52:22Speaker 4: It'll be cool, all righty.
- 52:27Speaker 5: And then the last thing, the last thing I had
- 52:30Speaker 5: written is just a stupid little thing because people kept
- 52:34Speaker 5: talking about, you know, where's altered content, where's this, where's that? Well,
- 52:40Speaker 5: it's out there if you look for it. But I
- 52:43Speaker 5: will hear, Yeah, I will be streaming a couple times
- 52:48Speaker 5: a week on Twitch. I usually stream Tuesday afternoon, starting
- 52:54Speaker 5: at noon and then at night for ACE and then
- 52:58Speaker 5: maybe one other day in there. If you hear this
- 53:03Speaker 5: message and you come into the chat and say that
- 53:08Speaker 5: you heard this while I'm playing Altered, I will I
- 53:11Speaker 5: will give you an OPI pack or booster pack of
- 53:15Speaker 5: some sort.
- 53:16Speaker 4: So we'll see how that experiment works.
- 53:21Speaker 1: Well.
- 53:22Speaker 5: See. The last thing is is we do have a question.
- 53:26Speaker 4: Whoever wants to read the question?
- 53:27Speaker 1: Boy, we have a question this week? Where's the call? Oh?
- 53:32Speaker 1: Here we go? All right, since you guys have run
- 53:36Speaker 1: out of questions, what do you think is the best
- 53:40Speaker 1: set so far? Given the four sets we've had to
- 53:43Speaker 1: date from Gav gave Kenny.
- 53:48Speaker 2: Yep, so in what way?
- 53:52Speaker 3: So the first set is definitely the best for uniques, undoubtedly,
- 53:58Speaker 3: and also the best for or I mean it has
- 54:02Speaker 3: the largest card pool. What's the the first that had
- 54:07Speaker 3: the most cards and the most cards that are still
- 54:10Speaker 3: being used in most decks now that are staples. So
- 54:15Speaker 3: I would say Beyond the Gates is the strongest set.
- 54:18Speaker 3: There's other sets that have like introduced more cards that
- 54:21Speaker 3: increased each Hero, But just since Beyond the Gates card
- 54:24Speaker 3: Pool was so large, that's still what most decks are
- 54:27Speaker 3: being built out of.
- 54:28Speaker 1: All right, so take Beyond the Gates out of it
- 54:30Speaker 1: because that was a base set, right, that was an
- 54:32Speaker 1: introductory set.
- 54:36Speaker 2: That's not Beyond the Gates.
- 54:38Speaker 1: You cannot use Beyond the Gates because it was that
- 54:42Speaker 1: was like, that's like saying Alpha was the best set ever,
- 54:45Speaker 1: because you know, like it could have started No, no, duh, Right,
- 54:49Speaker 1: Like you can't use Beyond the Gates. What's the next
- 54:53Speaker 1: best set?
- 54:56Speaker 2: What's the Skybound Odyssey?
- 54:58Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 54:59Speaker 3: I think if you like the ascension mechanic and the
- 55:04Speaker 3: getting to play another card rushing out rush.
- 55:07Speaker 5: Yeah, I think if you want to be technical, it
- 55:10Speaker 5: is Skybound without question. And the reasons Dexter said are some.
- 55:18Speaker 5: But also they have been working on the unique algorithm
- 55:24Speaker 5: and they've added some parameters into the generation that are
- 55:31Speaker 5: doing a lot better now, and there's some signs of
- 55:34Speaker 5: that in Skybound Odyssey.
- 55:36Speaker 4: That work really well.
- 55:39Speaker 5: I honestly love every set for what it is. I
- 55:45Speaker 5: think I have to agree with people that Trot by
- 55:48Speaker 5: Frost is the weakest set, like competitive wise, but I
- 55:54Speaker 5: also think it's one of the coolest and most like
- 55:59Speaker 5: the Madic sets.
- 56:02Speaker 4: And I've probably said.
- 56:03Speaker 2: I love the Expedition Gears.
- 56:05Speaker 5: Yeah, I probably said it a million times. But I
- 56:08Speaker 5: don't think there's a card that better represents like what
- 56:14Speaker 5: it is than Snowball Commando. Like Snowball Commando is literally
- 56:20Speaker 5: you're getting in a snowball fight and you throw a
- 56:22Speaker 5: snowball at someone, but they have a chance to throw
- 56:25Speaker 5: a snowball back. And I just think the theme in
- 56:29Speaker 5: Trial by Frost is very cool and very spot on.
- 56:35Speaker 5: But if you go off of what card still has
- 56:37Speaker 5: the most sought after or what set still has the
- 56:40Speaker 5: most sought after, most expensive card, it's Whispers from the
- 56:43Speaker 5: Maze with the Hunger.
- 56:45Speaker 2: Yep, the Hunger is a very strong card.
- 56:51Speaker 5: If you pull a Hunger, its great.
- 56:54Speaker 1: For eight dollars, eight dollars, eight dollars. I feel like
- 57:01Speaker 1: I think I spent twenty five dollars on a Magpen
- 57:05Speaker 1: Hoarder one time.
- 57:06Speaker 4: Well that's a unique, that's different.
- 57:08Speaker 2: Yeah, you need to different than still a Magpen Horder.
- 57:15Speaker 3: So would you say that the set that Magpin Hoarder
- 57:19Speaker 3: is in is the best set?
- 57:20Speaker 2: Is that Trial by Frost?
- 57:21Speaker 1: Yeah, it is Trial by Frost, and I would not
- 57:24Speaker 1: say that. No, I I agree with you. I remember
- 57:29Speaker 1: you saying that what's you McCall it? The Rush was
- 57:34Speaker 1: not going to be a very good mechanic. He did
- 57:37Speaker 1: not know all of.
- 57:38Speaker 3: Us here said that Rush was good, but we said
- 57:41Speaker 3: that everyone else said that Rush was.
- 57:43Speaker 1: Am I am I crazy? That did he did? He
- 57:45Speaker 1: not say Rush was not going to be a good mechanic.
- 57:48Speaker 1: I could have swore I said that.
- 57:50Speaker 2: I do.
- 57:51Speaker 5: I do remember more so that a lot of people
- 57:54Speaker 5: were telling me that Rush was bad in the discord,
- 57:59Speaker 5: So I remember that more than Dexter saying anything.
- 58:02Speaker 4: What I remember about Dexter.
- 58:03Speaker 5: Is him saying that sky Band Odyssey was not cracked,
- 58:06Speaker 5: and it is cracked.
- 58:08Speaker 1: Oh, because I remember, I specifically remember doing an episode
- 58:13Speaker 1: where we were talking about the cards and him being like,
- 58:19Speaker 1: Rush ain't deck good.
- 58:23Speaker 3: It's a solid mechanic. There are no cards that have
- 58:26Speaker 3: been printed with the Rush mechanic that are absolutely busted.
- 58:31Speaker 1: If I find time in my week, I'm gonna go
- 58:33Speaker 1: find that that that clip where you're like, go do good.
- 58:37Speaker 5: You gotta put it on the listeners to go back
- 58:41Speaker 5: and find it.
- 58:41Speaker 1: Yeah, go back and find it. Listeners. I think it
- 58:44Speaker 1: was like four episodes. Well, I don't know, it's probably
- 58:46Speaker 1: longer than that. It was a it was a while.
- 58:49Speaker 5: I mean, it's probably just our Skybound uh you or
- 58:54Speaker 5: one before it.
- 58:55Speaker 1: Definitely when we were doing the top five cards from
- 58:58Speaker 1: Skybound Odyssey and I think I could have swore, he
- 59:01Speaker 1: was like it's not good, and we're like, Dexter, are
- 59:05Speaker 1: you crazy?
- 59:08Speaker 5: But we're definitely not telling you to go look so
- 59:10Speaker 5: that we get more views on past episodes.
- 59:13Speaker 2: I absolutely not.
- 59:15Speaker 1: I am not afraid to say it. Go listen to
- 59:20Speaker 1: other episodes. But I mean thematically, thematically, mag Penhorder is

- 59:36Speaker 2: Thematically.

- 59:41Speaker 1: It made an interesting limited.
- 59:43Speaker 3: It just didn't deliver card wise. Oh yeah, I love
- 59:46Speaker 3: Limited with Draw by Frost too.
- 59:48Speaker 1: You know, it was very good limited wise, Its just
