Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: The following program is produced by the tech Talk Radio Network.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Hey Bill Ry, the science guy here.
- 0:06Speaker 1: Whatever, I am listening to the radio, especially tech talk radio.
- 0:11Speaker 1: It's just such a part. Welcome to another episode of
- 0:15Speaker 1: tech Talk Radio. I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Sean de Weird,
- 0:19Speaker 1: and I'm justin Lemy. Welcome. That's good to see all.
- 0:22Speaker 1: I I know Matt is out today. Then the Matt.
- 0:24Speaker 1: The story of Matt though, is it is something for
- 0:29Speaker 1: Matt that I think has probably happened to each one
- 0:31Speaker 1: of us at some point where.
- 0:33Speaker 2: I think he said, I think he's hints that he
- 0:34Speaker 2: had computer spaghetti is proper.
- 0:37Speaker 3: I think the I think the actual quotes that he
- 0:39Speaker 3: looks like a bomb went off in my office because
- 0:42Speaker 3: there's cables and computer parts everywhere.
- 0:44Speaker 1: So he decided to try something different. I remember, you know,
- 0:48Speaker 1: asking him, really he took his gaming computer his rig
- 0:53Speaker 1: and moved it into a rack mount computer.
- 0:57Speaker 3: Yeah, he got a couple. So he moved his gaming
- 1:00Speaker 3: computer and he put it into a rack mount chassis
- 1:03Speaker 3: and then bought a rack. And then he also bought
- 1:07Speaker 3: parts for his wife to have a gaming computer in
- 1:09Speaker 3: that same rack. So now they've got two gaming computers.
- 1:13Speaker 3: In rack mount chassis.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Now for the desktops first, those who don't know, rec
- 1:18Speaker 1: bounds are great because they're space saving. You can have them,
- 1:22Speaker 1: you know, all in one place. I mean, I've got
- 1:24Speaker 1: an actual rack computer that I've got nothing in it.
- 1:28Speaker 1: I was going to use it for a while. I
- 1:30Speaker 1: think when I first built my office computer here, I
- 1:35Speaker 1: had it in there for a little bit and I thought, yeah,
- 1:36Speaker 1: it's taking up too much space for me at that time,
- 1:40Speaker 1: and my concern was do you get good airflow with it?
- 1:43Speaker 1: And he was saying it's great, it's actually better.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Well, I mean if it's design, I mean, depending on
- 1:48Speaker 2: where it's at, right, you get the airflow from the
- 1:50Speaker 2: rack itself, and if you have it in a you know,
- 1:55Speaker 2: not stuffed in a closet with a ton of other gear,
- 1:57Speaker 2: it's gonna be just fine.
- 1:58Speaker 1: That's right. Yeah, Well that's it's pretty good. But that's
- 2:01Speaker 1: the problem he ran into. He got it all pulled
- 2:03Speaker 1: apart ready to put in and oops, well it's not
- 2:07Speaker 1: only just the computer too.
- 2:08Speaker 3: Like I mean, he is having some issues with the
- 2:09Speaker 3: computer as we speak here, but he's also mentioning that
- 2:13Speaker 3: he's taking this opportunity to just rewire everything like cable
- 2:17Speaker 3: management and all that stuff. So he wants to do
- 2:20Speaker 3: it correctly, kind of like how I redid this after
- 2:23Speaker 3: my basement flooded.
- 2:24Speaker 1: I took that extra time. You saw.
- 2:25Speaker 3: The pictures are on the website about how I did,
- 2:28Speaker 3: like cable management, where you could basically not see any
- 2:32Speaker 3: cables anywhere.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Is there products that will help you in that, because
- 2:36Speaker 1: I know there's probably listeners right now they're going I
- 2:39Speaker 1: need to do my rewiring, whether it be you know,
- 2:41Speaker 1: network cables, audio cables, you know whatever. Is there products
- 2:46Speaker 1: to make that easier?
- 2:47Speaker 3: Absolutely, they're called zip ties, valcrocro zip No, seriously, I
- 2:54Speaker 3: mean I didn't use any specialty. I mean, yes, there
- 2:56Speaker 3: are specialty cable management products products out there, but I
- 3:01Speaker 3: literally just use zip ties.
- 3:02Speaker 2: But there is a special place in a deep dark
- 3:05Speaker 2: dungeon somewhere for those who don't flush cut their zip
- 3:09Speaker 2: ties in racks.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Oh my gosh. Yes, that is a special If.
- 3:13Speaker 2: You are going to rack equipment and you don't flush
- 3:19Speaker 2: cut your zip ties, I will hunt you down.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Yes I have.
- 3:23Speaker 3: I have gotten so many like punctures on my hands
- 3:27Speaker 3: from reaching into a rack to grab a cable and
- 3:31Speaker 3: my hand gets punctured by like a sharp edge of
- 3:35Speaker 3: a zip tie that was not flush cut. I always
- 3:38Speaker 3: make sure to flush cut my zip ties. I want
- 3:41Speaker 3: to experience that.
- 3:42Speaker 2: So there are a specific style of cutters called flush
- 3:46Speaker 2: cutters that will cut flat.
- 3:49Speaker 4: And you can get right out on.
- 3:50Speaker 2: The back end of the zip tie and cut it
- 3:52Speaker 2: for the square park won't You won't even.
- 3:54Speaker 4: Be able to feel it. So if you if you
- 3:57Speaker 4: just cut it, and.
- 3:57Speaker 2: You leave a millimeter of jagged plastic right, and I
- 4:02Speaker 2: reach into the back of the rack and scrape my
- 4:04Speaker 2: arm along that, and now I've got a four inch gash.
- 4:07Speaker 4: On my forearm.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Now because you didn't take the time to flush cut it,
- 4:10Speaker 2: I'm gonna come punch you in the face.
- 4:12Speaker 3: Yep, I'll do one better. I'll just come and bleed
- 4:15Speaker 3: all over you.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Yeah it used to be you we get cut by
- 4:18Speaker 1: the metal on the side of the cases. Remember that
- 4:21Speaker 1: were built pretty bad.
- 4:21Speaker 4: Oh that's never that's never going away. If you don't
- 4:23Speaker 4: bleed building a computer, you're doing it wrong.
- 4:25Speaker 1: But yeah, I've always said that too.
- 4:27Speaker 3: Every single computer I built has a drop of blood somewhere.
- 4:31Speaker 1: In my case. The sacrifice to the piece of cuts
- 4:35Speaker 1: you've given your DNA. It's a sacrifice part of the build.
- 4:40Speaker 1: You know. I saw something this week too. Do you
- 4:42Speaker 1: guys remember the old cases that were like you put
- 4:45Speaker 1: them on your desk and they had two you know,
- 4:48Speaker 1: maybe five and a quarter drives that were on it,
- 4:52Speaker 1: a couple of bays, and you know, it was just
- 4:55Speaker 1: a big square and it was ugly and it was beige,
- 4:57Speaker 1: and you couldn't see anything on the system itself. You
- 5:02Speaker 1: remember those the older ones. Oh yeah, yeah, Well, apparently
- 5:06Speaker 1: Tom's Hardware had a story. It was actually in April
- 5:09Speaker 1: Fool's joke about them, you know, selling this this retro
- 5:12Speaker 1: Beije PC case that looked like a two to eighty
- 5:16Speaker 1: six computer, right, And apparently the company Silverstone, said we're
- 5:22Speaker 1: gonna make that, and they they have made it, and
- 5:25Speaker 1: apparently I'm hoping it'll be available here. They're a Japanese manufacturer,
- 5:30Speaker 1: I believe. But the drive, the floppy drives, the big
- 5:34Speaker 1: floppy drive case you could flip it up, and then
- 5:37Speaker 1: there's USB ports. There is an optical drive that is
- 5:40Speaker 1: hidden by that. I mean, it's pretty amazing that they're
- 5:44Speaker 1: doing this. I think that would be kind of cool
- 5:46Speaker 1: to have on your desk because people come over and
- 5:48Speaker 1: look and go, oh, look at that ancient thing.
- 5:51Speaker 2: No, it's always fun to have a sleeper, right that.
- 5:53Speaker 2: That's kind of a there's a niche market for that
- 5:56Speaker 2: where people take old Beije beasts and retro fit new
- 6:02Speaker 2: motherboards and new you know things into it. Yeah, and yeah,
- 6:08Speaker 2: it's it's fun to look at it. And this one
- 6:10Speaker 2: from Silverstone looks like, you know, it looks like you're
- 6:13Speaker 2: gonna steck the monitor right on top of it, just
- 6:15Speaker 2: like you would have the big seventeen inch or eighteen
- 6:17Speaker 2: inch CRT exactly.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Those are always kind of fun to have around. But
- 6:22Speaker 1: I always wondered like, what was the what would happen
- 6:25Speaker 1: and how and why? Because the coloring on that case
- 6:28Speaker 1: would always go like a dingy yellow. It would just
- 6:31Speaker 1: get like.
- 6:32Speaker 4: Oh, just the plastic getting just oxidizing.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Basically because back then people used to smoke in their homes. Yeah, yeah,
- 6:39Speaker 1: you ever you ever taken apart a system of a smoker?
- 6:45Speaker 4: Well, it's yes, yes, I have.
- 6:49Speaker 2: It's mostly been it's mostly been gaming consoles from a
- 6:51Speaker 2: friend of mine whose parents, yeah, pretty pretty heavily, and
- 6:54Speaker 2: they'd be.
- 6:55Speaker 4: Like, oh, the fans in my PlayStation to quit.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Yeah, they're taking apart. Oh, it's it's awful. Archy and Tar,
- 7:03Speaker 1: one of our old producer for the show, she had
- 7:07Speaker 1: a system and it was because she would play games
- 7:09Speaker 1: on it and stuff, and she she told me that
- 7:10Speaker 1: it was just like overheating and shutting down. So I
- 7:13Speaker 1: told her I would take a look at it for her.
- 7:15Speaker 1: And I remember I opened up the case and number one,
- 7:17Speaker 1: it was just dust. But it's a weird dust because
- 7:19Speaker 1: it's covered in that that tobacco like it just kind
- 7:23Speaker 1: of melds to it. But the fan that was on
- 7:25Speaker 1: the graphics card couldn't spin at all. I couldn't even
- 7:30Speaker 1: physically move it. It's how how caked on that got.
- 7:34Speaker 1: And if you're if you are a computer user, even
- 7:37Speaker 1: today's computers and all electronics, it's your TVs, your stereos,
- 7:43Speaker 1: all of that. It will affect your electronics. Gross, justin
- 7:47Speaker 1: what are you doing there? Justin you look, oh, I'm
- 7:49Speaker 1: just messing around like you're trying.
- 7:51Speaker 4: With with What are you messing around with?
- 7:54Speaker 1: Oh? Look at that? What did he do? Then?
- 7:56Speaker 2: Good?
- 7:56Speaker 1: Yeah, you gotta check out our camera there. Look at dude.
- 8:00Speaker 1: I like that?
- 8:01Speaker 3: Yeah, that that's my new camera. So do we want
- 8:06Speaker 3: to get into this set.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Let's let's talk. So Justin Justin went down on the
- 8:10Speaker 1: last show that we had, Justin was talking about, you know,
- 8:14Speaker 1: taking a look at mirrorless technology when it comes to cameras.
- 8:18Speaker 1: We had talked about the SLR mirrorless and you know
- 8:22Speaker 1: the kind of the benefits of both. And you saw
- 8:25Speaker 1: a video that said mirrorless is the way to go.
- 8:29Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, well, I mean obviously I got a
- 8:30Speaker 3: lot of my information from Sean. I mean, Sean is
- 8:32Speaker 3: the videographer the photographer of of US, right, and I've
- 8:37Speaker 3: I've been looking to get something different, and I I
- 8:43Speaker 3: I hedged a bet on some crypto recently. I actually
- 8:50Speaker 3: bought a bunch of doge coin before the election. Actually
- 8:54Speaker 3: was funny because it was before I bought a bunch
- 8:56Speaker 3: of doge coin, right when they announced that Elon Musk
- 9:01Speaker 3: was gonna do this whole department of government efficiency, which
- 9:04Speaker 3: it does, right, Yeah, but it has nothing to do
- 9:08Speaker 3: with the actual cryptocurrency.
- 9:10Speaker 1: It's just whatever. It just happens to have the same
- 9:13Speaker 1: that a coincidence.
- 9:15Speaker 3: Well apparently apparently nobody else thoughts so because people started
- 9:18Speaker 3: buying dose like crazy, and the price shot up and
- 9:21Speaker 3: I made a considerable amount of money, and I was like,
- 9:26Speaker 3: you know what, I'm gonna buy myself something nice. So
- 9:27Speaker 3: I went out and I bought, uh, the Sony A
- 9:30Speaker 3: seven mark four Wow, which is a twenty eight hundred
- 9:34Speaker 3: dollars camera. I got it on Black like an early
- 9:37Speaker 3: Black Friday deal for like twenty three hundred. And it's
- 9:41Speaker 3: a really nice camera. I mean, lenses amazing. Yeah, the
- 9:44Speaker 3: lens is really nice. That the quality is really good.
- 9:47Speaker 3: I mean, I'm I'm I can't stop staring at myself
- 9:49Speaker 3: actually watching this.
- 9:52Speaker 4: I know that your other cameras a Nikon, right, Uh.
- 9:54Speaker 3: The other cameras a Nikon, but it also that one,
- 9:57Speaker 3: the Nikon that I used, it doesn't do the streaming
- 10:00Speaker 3: it does with this one does. So the Nikon would
- 10:02Speaker 3: do like up to five minutes of streaming and then
- 10:05Speaker 3: it would just shut off. This one will do four
- 10:08Speaker 3: So not only will it take mirrorless full frame images,
- 10:12Speaker 3: it will do four K video at sixty.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Frames a second.
- 10:15Speaker 3: It's got two memory slots in it, so I have
- 10:18Speaker 3: on the memory slot one, I have a five hundred
- 10:20Speaker 3: and twelve gig SD card that I shoot raw, so
- 10:25Speaker 3: raw images if you don't know what raw is. Raw
- 10:28Speaker 3: is literally just raw. I mean it is all of
- 10:31Speaker 3: the data that the camera can get. No compression. There's
- 10:35Speaker 3: no compression compressions. It is uncompressed raw images. Obviously it
- 10:40Speaker 3: takes up a lot more space. But the benefit of
- 10:43Speaker 3: shooting in raw is then when you go and you
- 10:45Speaker 3: import those into let's say light Room Adobe light Room,
- 10:49Speaker 3: you got a lot more to work with because there's
- 10:51Speaker 3: a lot more data there, so you can adjust the
- 10:53Speaker 3: lighting effects and and other things that you would you
- 10:56Speaker 3: wouldn't be able to do with a normal JPEG. Now
- 10:59Speaker 3: and slot number two of the camera, I have a
- 11:02Speaker 3: sixty four gig memory card that I shoot JPEG on,
- 11:05Speaker 3: So if I need to do a quick JPEG shot
- 11:07Speaker 3: and just hand it off to somebody, I've got those
- 11:09Speaker 3: images on JPEG. Another really cool feature of it is
- 11:13Speaker 3: that the camera is Bluetooth and Wi Fi. So on
- 11:18Speaker 3: my phone, I have an app from Sony called Creator
- 11:21Speaker 3: I think it's called Creator's Club or something like that, right,
- 11:24Speaker 3: And so if I shoot a photo, I can instantly
- 11:27Speaker 3: transfer it to my phone and then I can just
- 11:29Speaker 3: text it to somebody and say here's your photo.
- 11:32Speaker 1: Oh my god, I gotta say, I'm not kidding. For
- 11:35Speaker 1: our listeners that are are are intrigued by this, they
- 11:39Speaker 1: may want to stream one day or do something. This
- 11:42Speaker 1: is the best image I have ever seen for a stream,
- 11:46Speaker 1: and I'm hoping that our session that we post online
- 11:50Speaker 1: will do a justice because really, justin this is a
- 11:53Speaker 1: tremendous picture. Yeah.
- 11:55Speaker 3: I mean, I'm looking at the three of us here,
- 11:57Speaker 3: and obviously I've got the best quality image now and
- 12:02Speaker 3: then Sean, I would say, Sean's number two. Andy, You've
- 12:04Speaker 3: got to step up the game, bro.
- 12:05Speaker 1: I'm running a Logitech four K.
- 12:08Speaker 3: Well the Logitech. My other camera is a Logitech here.
- 12:11Speaker 3: Let me switch back to the other camera for the
- 12:13Speaker 3: for let me go back the other camera. It's good,
- 12:16Speaker 3: it's good, It's okay. I mean it's a webcam. But
- 12:19Speaker 3: like going back to the other I think I can't.
- 12:21Speaker 3: I got to go back to the other one. This
- 12:22Speaker 3: one's so much better.
- 12:23Speaker 2: It's a softer right, It's like there's a lot there's
- 12:26Speaker 2: a lot of factors here, right, Like it's a it's
- 12:30Speaker 2: a better angle. I think you have more depth of field.
- 12:33Speaker 2: So like your your backgrounds just out of crispy. It's
- 12:35Speaker 2: not crispy, like you're the one, the other one. Everything's
- 12:38Speaker 2: in focus, right, we can see your back, your background.
- 12:40Speaker 2: This just adds a little bit of a more intimate element, right,
- 12:43Speaker 2: It's like we're in your space, but we're not.
- 12:46Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, yeah, it looks like I'm actually there
- 12:48Speaker 3: with you.
- 12:49Speaker 1: You know. Yeah? It really like.
- 12:50Speaker 3: Now I don't have my tripod set up. Otherwise I
- 12:52Speaker 3: would have actually put this up on the tripod, and
- 12:55Speaker 3: I may do that. I may go out and buy
- 12:57Speaker 3: a second tripod just for this camera and then use
- 13:00Speaker 3: this as my primary sobcam, how is it?
- 13:03Speaker 1: Now? How is this? This is an A seven right?
- 13:07Speaker 1: It is hey seven? Mark four? How is this connecting
- 13:10Speaker 1: to your computer? For this stream? Just USB? I just
- 13:14Speaker 1: plugged a USB cable into it. That's all I did.
- 13:16Speaker 1: So is it htm I out to USB or no?
- 13:19Speaker 1: They they do.
- 13:19Speaker 3: It does have an HDMI output on it. But I'm
- 13:22Speaker 3: literally just going USBC right into my computer.
- 13:24Speaker 1: That's all it is. That is amazing.
- 13:27Speaker 2: So a lot a lot of the manufacturers like so
- 13:29Speaker 2: A lot of the manufacturers during COVID released beta versions
- 13:35Speaker 2: of USB Control. Right, so Cannon said, oh, here's a
- 13:40Speaker 2: USB version for all our EUS cameras. Sony said, we've
- 13:43Speaker 2: been doing it, but here's a better version.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Yeah. Nikom was like, no, screw you. Yeah.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Nikon pretty much said, you know, Kick Rocks, we don't
- 13:51Speaker 2: want your crappy cameras on.
- 13:54Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, we don't want it to don't.
- 13:56Speaker 3: Want our we don't want our amazing cameras to be
- 13:59Speaker 3: used for webcams.
- 14:01Speaker 1: They really were.
- 14:02Speaker 4: They were worried.
- 14:03Speaker 2: They were worried about the quality over USB, right, they
- 14:06Speaker 2: were worried about the little bit rate, the low you know.
- 14:08Speaker 2: But with USBC and the speed you can get over USBC,
- 14:12Speaker 2: it's it's been fine. I mean, just look at Justin's Cambra.
- 14:14Speaker 2: It's fantastic.
- 14:15Speaker 1: I mean, the camera is fantastic.
- 14:17Speaker 3: Now, I do have to say, I can notice a
- 14:19Speaker 3: little bit of a delay when I move my hands
- 14:21Speaker 3: or whatever. I notice a little bit of a delay,
- 14:23Speaker 3: which is fine. That could also be because I literally
- 14:26Speaker 3: just plugged this in without letting it reboot the computer.
- 14:30Speaker 3: Like maybe I mean, obviously it installed the driver or two,
- 14:33Speaker 3: but maybe I need to reboot the computer to make
- 14:35Speaker 3: it better. But I would say, I'm I'm I'm truly impressed.
- 14:39Speaker 1: I am noticing too. It is adjusting automatically. To the
- 14:42Speaker 1: light in the room, so as you yeah, as you
- 14:45Speaker 1: kind of focus. Yeah, it's that's really a great look.
- 14:49Speaker 3: It's gonna takes, it's gonna take some tweaks, but it's Yeah,
- 14:51Speaker 3: the light balance isn't quite right. But again, if I
- 14:53Speaker 3: put it up where my main light is, I think
- 14:55Speaker 3: it would be even better. But right now I just
- 14:57Speaker 3: don't have that ability.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Well, you're gonna as you get more comfortable with the
- 14:59Speaker 2: set things right, you're gonna be able to say, especially
- 15:02Speaker 2: with the with the A seven's right, you're gonna be
- 15:04Speaker 2: able to to find tune. You're gonna be able to say, Okay,
- 15:06Speaker 2: here's my face. Yep, I want you to always expose
- 15:10Speaker 2: from my face.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Oh okay.
- 15:12Speaker 3: And this this actually has that future built in. You're
- 15:15Speaker 3: taking photos, it'll actually do eye tracking, so it knows
- 15:19Speaker 3: when a person's looking at the camera and it will
- 15:20Speaker 3: actually automatically take the photo when the person's looking at
- 15:23Speaker 3: the camera.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Oh my gosh.
- 15:26Speaker 2: So like we get like the AI stuff that's coming
- 15:29Speaker 2: with some of the newer versions of cameras is fantastic. Yeah,
- 15:33Speaker 2: you can, you can with the canon version. My buddy
- 15:36Speaker 2: Steve has the new version. For the new version for
- 15:39Speaker 2: the his R five, and it actually has intelligent facial tracking,
- 15:45Speaker 2: meaning you can take a picture, go into that picture
- 15:48Speaker 2: on your camera, say this is my primary target.
- 15:52Speaker 4: Whenever you see this target in frame, take a picture.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Oh wow wow.
- 15:57Speaker 3: Oh.
- 15:58Speaker 2: And if you don't see that person, but you see
- 16:00Speaker 2: this person a secondary target, take a picture instead.
- 16:03Speaker 1: All right, So and now obviously you didn't get this
- 16:06Speaker 1: for just webcamming and using it for like this show
- 16:09Speaker 1: and some other projects that you're working on. You want
- 16:12Speaker 1: to take photos with it. Have you had that ability
- 16:14Speaker 1: to experience going out taking a photo in different environments?
- 16:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I haven't had a lot of experience.
- 16:20Speaker 3: I've only had it for a couple of days now,
- 16:21Speaker 3: but I did post a bunch of photos on Facebook.
- 16:25Speaker 3: We went out to Adventure Golf, which is a property
- 16:28Speaker 3: that Highland Hills owns, that company I work for. It's
- 16:31Speaker 3: a mini golf course, so they have like this holiday
- 16:33Speaker 3: lights where everything's lit up in Christmas lights and you
- 16:36Speaker 3: can go and play mini golf. And so I took
- 16:38Speaker 3: it out there to test what the low light capability
- 16:41Speaker 3: was and I was, I was, I was pretty impressed.
- 16:44Speaker 3: I mean it's not it's I wouldn't say it's excellent.
- 16:46Speaker 1: It's it's good.
- 16:47Speaker 3: I would probably give it like a seven or eight
- 16:50Speaker 3: out of ten in terms of quality. But then I
- 16:53Speaker 3: also took it out to see U Boulder, which is,
- 16:56Speaker 3: you know, the university right up north of Denver there
- 16:59Speaker 3: up and we went up there and we walked around
- 17:02Speaker 3: and I took a few photos of Mesa and Eric,
- 17:04Speaker 3: and then Eric actually took a couple of photos of
- 17:06Speaker 3: Mesa and Io. And you know, even the photos themselves
- 17:10Speaker 3: are good. But I really, honestly, I've never played around
- 17:15Speaker 3: with light room until yesterday or the day before.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Oh, I'm working with raw images and light room. It's amazing.
- 17:21Speaker 3: Lightroom is absolutely fantastic. If you are a photographer of
- 17:26Speaker 3: any sort. You don't have to be a professional photographer,
- 17:29Speaker 3: even if you're an amateur photographer, lightroom works wonders. I mean,
- 17:34Speaker 3: it is amazing what you can do with light room.
- 17:37Speaker 3: You can do touchups, you can adjust the gamma, the color,
- 17:40Speaker 3: the vignet, I mean, all the other. This is so
- 17:44Speaker 3: many things you can do with light room. And that's
- 17:47Speaker 3: why when I posted those photos online, you know, some
- 17:51Speaker 3: people might think, wow, that's an amazing camera. Can take
- 17:54Speaker 3: some amazing photos. Yeah, but I used lightroom, you know,
- 17:59Speaker 3: and so lightroom really kind of fills in the gaps,
- 18:02Speaker 3: if you will, where the camera can't, but the data
- 18:06Speaker 3: is all there on the photo. So the camera captures
- 18:09Speaker 3: all the data. You just have to massage it a
- 18:12Speaker 3: little bit to get those those those those images the
- 18:16Speaker 3: way the way you want them to look.
- 18:17Speaker 1: It's it's funny because you think about it in the
- 18:20Speaker 1: last few years about adjusting photos, and Sean, I know
- 18:23Speaker 1: this is right up your alley as well. Everybody always
- 18:26Speaker 1: this photoshop. You gotta do photoshop, you gotta do a photoshop,
- 18:29Speaker 1: gotta know you know, the different AI topaz. But honestly,
- 18:34Speaker 1: lightroom is what people should really learn to work with
- 18:38Speaker 1: when it comes to I mean, photoshop's great, don't get
- 18:41Speaker 1: me wrong, but light room is really the first step.
- 18:44Speaker 3: Totally absolutely, Sean. I mean you have experienced with light room, right, yeah.
- 18:47Speaker 2: I mean I don't think I'm exactly the person to
- 18:51Speaker 2: talk to about editing photos, right.
- 18:52Speaker 4: I do bare minimum editing.
- 18:55Speaker 2: Of my photos, Like, yeah, a lot of my editing
- 18:58Speaker 2: is obviously post processing, but it's just to bring out some.
- 19:03Speaker 4: Highlights that that room is.
- 19:05Speaker 2: That's what light room is bring you know, but I'm
- 19:07Speaker 2: not doing any manipulation to I'm not removing anything, I'm
- 19:12Speaker 2: not adding anything, I'm not doing any AI stuff. So
- 19:16Speaker 2: but there's a lot of there's a lot of tools
- 19:18Speaker 2: that I don't utilize. Those features just.
- 19:22Speaker 4: Detract from what I feel like my art is.
- 19:25Speaker 3: So one of those pictures that I took from CU Boulder,
- 19:29Speaker 3: there were people in the background, and when I went
- 19:32Speaker 3: into light room and I just hit the auto button
- 19:35Speaker 3: just to see what the auto button would do. It
- 19:38Speaker 3: automatically detected Mysa and I as the primary subjects because
- 19:42Speaker 3: we were in center frame. But then it highlighted all
- 19:46Speaker 3: of the people in the background. It would just put
- 19:48Speaker 3: a little bit of a silhouette around them automatically. And
- 19:52Speaker 3: then it asked me, do you want to get rid
- 19:54Speaker 3: of these people? And for a moment there I'm thinking, wow,
- 19:58Speaker 3: that's a little dark like the way like you know,
- 20:01Speaker 3: but I was like, uh yeah, and it was like okay,
- 20:04Speaker 3: and it boom, just it got rid of all the
- 20:06Speaker 3: people in the background and it kind of fills with
- 20:09Speaker 3: the way and it just yeah, it mixes it all in.
- 20:12Speaker 3: It makes it look like a real photo. It doesn't
- 20:14Speaker 3: like just put like a weird blurry image or whatever. No,
- 20:17Speaker 3: it just completely removed the people in the background and
- 20:21Speaker 3: perfectly filled it in, and I was like, wow, this
- 20:24Speaker 3: is pretty cool.
- 20:25Speaker 1: We have seen like the AI that's involved in the
- 20:28Speaker 1: editing process in our smartphones. Now I've not I mean,
- 20:32Speaker 1: I still have my iPhone. I've been using my Google
- 20:35Speaker 1: Pixel nine, which I'm pretty impressed. I am pretty impressed
- 20:39Speaker 1: with it. There are sometimes where I get a little
- 20:41Speaker 1: let down by it, but I mean, the AI has
- 20:43Speaker 1: gotten so much better in our smartphones, Like I'm sure
- 20:46Speaker 1: the sixteen from iPhone has got to be pretty good.
- 20:48Speaker 1: And to see what's going to be coming out in
- 20:50Speaker 1: the next couple of years is gonna be pretty amazing
- 20:53Speaker 1: when it comes to taking a photo, the editing process
- 20:56Speaker 1: and really giving it just a great look. Yeah, I mean,
- 20:59Speaker 1: it's just gonna get better here, to be honest, yes,
- 21:01Speaker 1: it is.
- 21:02Speaker 4: And I have come a long ways from my two
- 21:10Speaker 4: years ago.
- 21:11Speaker 2: I'm never gonna do AI, right, I was very anti
- 21:14Speaker 2: AI and I'm still anti some AI.
- 21:20Speaker 1: Right.
- 21:21Speaker 2: I'm in a pilot at Notre Dame for the Chat
- 21:24Speaker 2: Gypt stuff and it's been fantastic for what I'm using
- 21:27Speaker 2: it for, and I'm utilizing it for a lot of
- 21:29Speaker 2: things at.
- 21:30Speaker 4: Work, which is great. What I'm still not going.
- 21:33Speaker 2: To do with it is I've been using it a
- 21:37Speaker 2: little bit to create some synopsis of my D and
- 21:40Speaker 2: D sessions, which has been great. But I still feel
- 21:44Speaker 2: like that's pushing the boundary for me on being creative
- 21:48Speaker 2: with AI, allowing AI to do art for me, because
- 21:53Speaker 2: I still feel like AI, you know, as people create
- 21:59Speaker 2: things and into AI can do it for free or
- 22:02Speaker 2: for cheap, we're just going to get a weird We're
- 22:06Speaker 2: gonna hit a weird plateau of.
- 22:11Speaker 4: Generated art.
- 22:12Speaker 2: Yeah, And I just feel like we're taking the human
- 22:16Speaker 2: element out of art, and that's the whole point of art,
- 22:19Speaker 2: is the human element.
- 22:20Speaker 1: When I agree with you. Back in the nineties, I
- 22:22Speaker 1: actually started a company that we did computer we did graphics,
- 22:27Speaker 1: desktop publishing us. We would use you know, all this
- 22:30Speaker 1: PageMaker and then the ad W PageMaker and we would
- 22:34Speaker 1: use that and we would create flyers and we were
- 22:36Speaker 1: always busy folders the whole bit. Now somebody could go
- 22:40Speaker 1: on to Canva and they could create that just by
- 22:43Speaker 1: telling you this is what I want and it's done,
- 22:46Speaker 1: you know, And you know, I always thought maybe I'll
- 22:48Speaker 1: get back into the business. There's no point now, I
- 22:51Speaker 1: mean honestly, because people can do it themselves and they're
- 22:53Speaker 1: finding that out.
- 22:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, we use Canva at work. I don't
- 22:58Speaker 3: personally have a license for Canva, but I know that
- 23:00Speaker 3: we have a bunch of people that do. And Yeah,
- 23:02Speaker 3: it makes their life a lot easier when they can
- 23:04Speaker 3: just go to Canva and say, I want to create
- 23:07Speaker 3: a promotional image for this particular event, and here's the information,
- 23:14Speaker 3: and fam it just does it.
- 23:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm I'm really one. Do you think, Sean, at
- 23:18Speaker 1: some point we're going to get into a feature film
- 23:21Speaker 1: or even a TV series that's done with AI.
- 23:23Speaker 2: I can't imagine we were not seeing stuff generated already
- 23:26Speaker 2: that we just don't know about.
- 23:27Speaker 1: Oh, there's plenty of it in movies right now.
- 23:30Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm sure, I'm sure, I'm sure.
- 23:33Speaker 1: Right.
- 23:34Speaker 2: But it's this is where a lot of the SAG
- 23:37Speaker 2: strike came from.
- 23:38Speaker 4: Yeah, right, A lot of the SAG.
- 23:40Speaker 2: Strike came from they weren't getting enough money from streaming
- 23:42Speaker 2: rights and things like that, but also they wanted the
- 23:45Speaker 2: film industry to basically commit to not using AI generated
- 23:50Speaker 2: content for X amount of years or whatever.
- 23:53Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 23:53Speaker 2: What the ultimate Bargaining Rights came out to be. But
- 23:57Speaker 2: I know that AI was a big part of it.
- 24:00Speaker 2: And so for any any SAG movies, right, you're not
- 24:04Speaker 2: gonna see that kind of stuff. But the independent films
- 24:07Speaker 2: are just gonna be it's gonna be rife with AI content.
- 24:11Speaker 4: It's just that's just what it's going to be. Now,
- 24:15Speaker 4: who can win awards when it's a.
- 24:17Speaker 1: I generated Oh wow, yeah, exact point?
- 24:20Speaker 4: Right, think about it?
- 24:21Speaker 2: Right, Okay, I created this film that just is so good,
- 24:25Speaker 2: everybody loves it, and now all of a sudden it's
- 24:29Speaker 2: up for Best Best Actors.
- 24:31Speaker 1: Yeah, yet Best Picture? Who? Yeah?
- 24:36Speaker 4: Who is it?
- 24:36Speaker 1: Good point? But if you look at most of the well,
- 24:38Speaker 1: if you look at the Marvel films, you know, now
- 24:41Speaker 1: it's all about you know, the visual effects and what
- 24:43Speaker 1: they're doing in that, and that could be that could
- 24:45Speaker 1: be huge. Anyways, you still have you still have a
- 24:47Speaker 1: human element. But if you take out all that human element,
- 24:51Speaker 1: what do we what are we going to be left with? Yeah,
- 24:54Speaker 1: that's gonna be scary.
- 24:55Speaker 2: It's like I said, it's we're gonna be at this
- 24:57Speaker 2: weird place where AI is going to get so good
- 25:03Speaker 2: that you're not really sure, it's.
- 25:05Speaker 4: The uncanny Valley.
- 25:06Speaker 1: Right.
- 25:06Speaker 2: We've talked about this before. It's a term that not
- 25:07Speaker 2: a lot of people knew about, but it's going to
- 25:09Speaker 2: become more and more prevalent. It's that weird, uneasy feeling
- 25:13Speaker 2: that you get when you watch something that you think
- 25:14Speaker 2: is real but it's not.
- 25:16Speaker 1: I will say, while we were let down by Luke Skywalker,
- 25:20Speaker 1: Mark Hamill's appearance in The Mandalorian.
- 25:23Speaker 3: Oh yeah, really bad.
- 25:27Speaker 1: That was cgi and it was so bad. However, Harold
- 25:30Speaker 1: Ramis that was in Ghostbusters his because he had been passed,
- 25:36Speaker 1: he had passed away. They recreated it, but it was
- 25:40Speaker 1: Harold Ramis's character coming back as as if he was
- 25:44Speaker 1: in the Other Afterlife. It was so well done. I
- 25:48Speaker 1: remember watching it going, oh my god, did he shoot
- 25:51Speaker 1: this before he died? I mean, obviously not, but it
- 25:53Speaker 1: was just so amazing. So it can be depending on
- 25:58Speaker 1: the artist that's creating it that believability and you know,
- 26:02Speaker 1: maybe maybe taking a step out of the young Count
- 26:04Speaker 1: Cannon Valley.
- 26:05Speaker 3: Sure, yeah, I mean, And to kind of answer Sean's
- 26:07Speaker 3: question about like who would get an award, I guess
- 26:10Speaker 3: you would say, you know, it'd probably be the technical
- 26:13Speaker 3: it would be a lot more technical awards given out
- 26:16Speaker 3: instead of you know, instead of artistic awards, it'd be
- 26:18Speaker 3: a technical award.
- 26:20Speaker 2: I feel like there would be a whole new category
- 26:22Speaker 2: of just here. But what's stopping somebody from submitting? Like
- 26:28Speaker 2: the proving that it's AI is going to be difficult
- 26:30Speaker 2: down the road, right, right, So I could submit a
- 26:32Speaker 2: film and say, no, this is a real actor, and
- 26:34Speaker 2: then they could be like, prove it or not? Right, So,
- 26:41Speaker 2: I mean, I just think it's it's going to be
- 26:43Speaker 2: a weird next decade for consuming media.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Absolutely absolutely, are we going to take a quick break?
- 26:50Speaker 1: Come back. I do want to ask Justin another question
- 26:52Speaker 1: about his camera again. Well, we'll give you that camera
- 26:56Speaker 1: that will tell you what it is in case you
- 26:58Speaker 1: missed it. But it's pretty amazing. See the video on
- 27:01Speaker 1: our blog blog tech talk radio dot com. I'm Andy Taylor,
- 27:05Speaker 1: I'm Sean de Weird, and I'm Justin.
- 27:07Speaker 3: Let me find us on the web tech talk radio
- 27:09Speaker 3: dot com. As Andy just said, be right.
- 27:11Speaker 1: Back and now fact to tech talk Radio. So we
- 27:16Speaker 1: have been spending the first segment of the show just
- 27:19Speaker 1: eyeballing Justin's aging. How do you pronounce it? Eyeballing? Works too. Okay,
- 27:28Speaker 1: what do you think, Sean Ougling? What are we doing
- 27:30Speaker 1: googling googling drooling? Yeah, and it's not you, sorry, justin,
- 27:35Speaker 1: it's not you. It's the camera is pretty all pretty amazing.
- 27:38Speaker 1: Did you go with the standard lens? Uh? And and
- 27:41Speaker 1: what camera is it? Again? For our listeners that maybe
- 27:43Speaker 1: didn't catch the first segment, and we tell you, hit
- 27:46Speaker 1: the blog, watch the video. It's on our YouTube. You
- 27:48Speaker 1: can subscribe as well.
- 27:50Speaker 3: Yeah, so the camera is a Sony A seven mark four,
- 27:55Speaker 3: so a seven M four. It does with the kit lens,
- 28:01Speaker 3: and I don't without having to interrupt the video stream here,
- 28:04Speaker 3: I can't really tell. It is a three point five
- 28:07Speaker 3: to five point six twenty eight to seventy millimeters separately,
- 28:11Speaker 3: or it came.
- 28:12Speaker 1: With it, No, it came with it.
- 28:13Speaker 3: Now you can buy the body by itself for like
- 28:16Speaker 3: like well see let's see the Black Friday deal had
- 28:20Speaker 3: the camera by itself for twenty one or the kit
- 28:23Speaker 3: for twenty four, and that was like with six hundred
- 28:26Speaker 3: dollars off on both, so you know, add six hundred
- 28:29Speaker 3: to it for the for the full price. But yeah,
- 28:31Speaker 3: so twenty four hundred.
- 28:33Speaker 1: Is what I paid.
- 28:35Speaker 3: It would have been closer to three thousand out the
- 28:38Speaker 3: door if it wasn't a Black Friday sale. But it
- 28:40Speaker 3: is one of the upper line Now, it's not the
- 28:42Speaker 3: top of the line Sony. Now, the top of the
- 28:44Speaker 3: line Sony is like the A one or even the
- 28:47Speaker 3: A nine, depends on which way you want to go
- 28:49Speaker 3: with it. But the A seven Mark four is about
- 28:52Speaker 3: a year old. It's it's got released last year. But
- 28:57Speaker 3: it is a very very good I would even say
- 29:01Speaker 3: entry level. It is like a more of a mid
- 29:03Speaker 3: level camera.
- 29:04Speaker 4: It's at the bottom end of the professional level.
- 29:07Speaker 2: Right, It's it's not prosumer, right, it's it's a tier
- 29:12Speaker 2: above prosumer.
- 29:13Speaker 4: That's where I'm gonna put.
- 29:14Speaker 2: It, right, it's a it's an entry it's an entry,
- 29:19Speaker 2: entry level professional camera.
- 29:20Speaker 4: That's where I'll put the A sevens.
- 29:22Speaker 1: Now you were you were kind of impressed on by
- 29:24Speaker 1: the lighting, uh even right now what we're looking at.
- 29:27Speaker 2: Right, So, uh, we're talking about in the break and
- 29:30Speaker 2: I said, justin I'm really impressed at how there's no
- 29:32Speaker 2: chromatic abrasions or aberrations whatever the end.
- 29:36Speaker 1: Yeah, I have no idea what that means.
- 29:37Speaker 4: In the green and the blue lights behind you, right.
- 29:39Speaker 2: So it's it's the lens and the camera are doing
- 29:42Speaker 2: a good job of identifying that that's actually green and
- 29:46Speaker 2: not like if you oversaturate a pixel with a certain color,
- 29:49Speaker 2: it starts to get weird. I like to tell people
- 29:52Speaker 2: it looks like when you try and shoot it's something in.
- 29:56Speaker 4: Low blue light.
- 29:57Speaker 1: Right, we try something, the blue.
- 29:59Speaker 2: Starts to get like blocky and kind of just muddy. Yeah,
- 30:03Speaker 2: And that's that's kind of what that is. And it's
- 30:05Speaker 2: just the camera not interpreting the.
- 30:07Speaker 4: Colors very well. What do you think Justin's trying to
- 30:09Speaker 4: change the color to his lights.
- 30:10Speaker 1: Trying to change the color of the room. Oh, look
- 30:12Speaker 1: at that. That's pretty amazing too. So for those listening
- 30:16Speaker 1: not watching, he just changed the color of his lights
- 30:19Speaker 1: because you what are you using?
- 30:20Speaker 3: Whys are you using? Tasa teepeling kasa. So I went
- 30:23Speaker 3: from like a blueish green on some of the lights,
- 30:26Speaker 3: now I'm doing straight red across the board, right, and
- 30:30Speaker 3: that that looks pretty good.
- 30:31Speaker 1: And then let me try this. This is more of
- 30:33Speaker 1: a purplish blue. Wow.
- 30:36Speaker 3: And then here's straight green all the way across.
- 30:39Speaker 1: Just it's so nice. It's got a warm feel to it.
- 30:43Speaker 1: That's a pretty darn good camera. I'm wondered, Sean, if
- 30:46Speaker 1: I was the hook of my Canon seventy or even
- 30:50Speaker 1: my Rebel T one, could I get.
- 30:53Speaker 2: Yeah, you might have to update the firmware right to
- 30:56Speaker 2: get the to get the USB support.
- 30:58Speaker 1: But you ain't gonna get good. You're not gonna look
- 31:00Speaker 1: as good as this.
- 31:01Speaker 3: I'm sorry you just you just not speaking of because
- 31:05Speaker 3: that look darn good.
- 31:06Speaker 1: Speaking of lighting, we haven't touched.
- 31:08Speaker 4: The battery I had. I had to adapt my lighting.
- 31:11Speaker 1: Look, no, my camera just shut off.
- 31:15Speaker 4: Oh no, it.
- 31:17Speaker 3: Just it turned It's Oh my god, my battery is dead,
- 31:20Speaker 3: I think.
- 31:20Speaker 1: Is that? Why? Oh you'd have to plug You're gonna
- 31:24Speaker 1: have to plug it in.
- 31:24Speaker 4: Now, the joys of plagued with new technology.
- 31:27Speaker 3: Well, you know what's funny is I'm still talking to you.
- 31:29Speaker 1: You can't see me, but I.
- 31:32Speaker 3: Don't have I don't know if I have, no, I
- 31:35Speaker 3: have fifty three battery left, So.
- 31:37Speaker 1: What would happened? Did overheat? I don't know, I don't know.
- 31:39Speaker 1: Hold on, let me let me switch it back on. Now.
- 31:41Speaker 3: If it overheated, that'd be actually yeah, it is actually
- 31:45Speaker 3: kind of it is actually kind of warm.
- 31:47Speaker 4: So I'm sitting on top of your computer.
- 31:49Speaker 1: Yeah, oh yeah, there you go. All right, you're back. Yeah,
- 31:53Speaker 1: there we go. I'm back, all right. Which I want
- 31:55Speaker 1: to bring up another point too. We didn't talk about
- 31:57Speaker 1: this lighting. You know, you're adjusting the lighting tepee link,
- 32:02Speaker 1: you're using i O Sean, you're using WYS. We didn't
- 32:06Speaker 1: talk about your outdoor lighting, which kind of hinted to
- 32:10Speaker 1: that last week. For anybody that is thinking about doing
- 32:13Speaker 1: permanent crisp, we'll call them permanent Christmas lights. This is
- 32:18Speaker 1: I mean, you could use them year round, of course.
- 32:20Speaker 1: How did this whole process go?
- 32:22Speaker 3: Well, I mean I've been thinking about doing permanent lights
- 32:25Speaker 3: for many years. It's been cost prohibitive. I mean, I
- 32:29Speaker 3: think the main player in the permanent light system was
- 32:34Speaker 3: I want to say, it's Jellyfin or Jellyfish, one of
- 32:38Speaker 3: the two. I'm kind of ly in toward more jelly Finn.
- 32:40Speaker 3: But anyway, when I looked at how much it would
- 32:43Speaker 3: cost to do Jellyfin, it was like ten thousand.
- 32:46Speaker 1: Dollars, Oh my lord, oh wow.
- 32:49Speaker 3: But I mean they obviously have a lifetime guarantee and
- 32:52Speaker 3: whatever and they come out and install it. But I
- 32:54Speaker 3: was like, that's just that's ridiculous for what it is. Now,
- 32:57Speaker 3: I do have a neighbor who went jellyfin and it
- 33:01Speaker 3: looks amazing, but for that price, I was just like,
- 33:05Speaker 3: I'm sorry, it's just ridiculous. Now fast forward four years
- 33:10Speaker 3: from that initial conversation with that guy, this guy bought
- 33:14Speaker 3: a different house and he actually went with and Brighton
- 33:18Speaker 3: on the new house. So he left the jellyfin on
- 33:22Speaker 3: the old house and went with and Brighton. Now and
- 33:27Speaker 3: Brighton is e n Brighton in Brightenme dot com is
- 33:32Speaker 3: the website. Costco is selling hits of in Brighton permanent
- 33:38Speaker 3: outdoor holiday lights in one hundred foot strings for about
- 33:45Speaker 3: one hundred.
- 33:45Speaker 1: And sixty bucks.
- 33:46Speaker 3: Wow, all right, and they come They come in black
- 33:49Speaker 3: if your house is more of a darker color. They
- 33:51Speaker 3: also come in white if the house is a whiter color,
- 33:54Speaker 3: so that kind of blends in with the fascia the
- 33:58Speaker 3: overhangs the eaves of your home.
- 34:00Speaker 1: So this way it will pass more HOA.
- 34:03Speaker 3: Maybe it would be more likely to pass HOA if
- 34:05Speaker 3: it kind of more blended in with it. So the
- 34:08Speaker 3: process is actually pretty simple. So when you buy these
- 34:10Speaker 3: and brightened kits, they actually come in four sections of
- 34:15Speaker 3: sixteen and a half feet and they come with these
- 34:18Speaker 3: little round mounting brackets that have three ms sticky tape
- 34:23Speaker 3: on it. So what you do is you get up there,
- 34:26Speaker 3: you mount the very first one, you take off the
- 34:30Speaker 3: three m tape, you stick it where you want it
- 34:32Speaker 3: to go. Then you take a screw and screw it
- 34:35Speaker 3: in there so it sticks permanently. Then you take the
- 34:38Speaker 3: light and you pop it into the socket, and then
- 34:40Speaker 3: you just kind of stretch it out to see where
- 34:42Speaker 3: the next light's going to go, and you know exactly
- 34:44Speaker 3: where you got to put the next one.
- 34:45Speaker 1: Then you put the next sticky thing.
- 34:46Speaker 3: Screw it in, pop it in, next light, sticky it,
- 34:49Speaker 3: screw it in, pop it in.
- 34:51Speaker 1: It goes really quickly. I was able to do a
- 34:54Speaker 1: little bit of it.
- 34:55Speaker 3: I don't really like to do ladders all that much,
- 34:57Speaker 3: so I did what I could with a six ladder.
- 35:00Speaker 3: But then I hired a guy to come out and
- 35:02Speaker 3: he did the rest of it, and he hooked. He
- 35:04Speaker 3: got up on like thirty five foot ladders, went all
- 35:07Speaker 3: the way up to the top of my house, did
- 35:09Speaker 3: all of the eves, all the way around the side,
- 35:11Speaker 3: all the way through the back.
- 35:13Speaker 1: Everything.
- 35:13Speaker 3: He did all of it, and I think he charged
- 35:16Speaker 3: me like three hundred and eighty bucks to do it.
- 35:20Speaker 3: But now I don't have to worry about holiday lights
- 35:24Speaker 3: ever again.
- 35:25Speaker 1: And if, like during Halloween, you want to put up
- 35:27Speaker 1: orange and black, you could.
- 35:29Speaker 3: They all they actually had, Yeah, there are They are
- 35:32Speaker 3: rb are hold on red green, rgb IC W rgb IC,
- 35:40Speaker 3: so they're individually controlled, so you can change every single
- 35:45Speaker 3: light to what you want it to be. But that
- 35:48Speaker 3: also means that the lights can chase each other, they
- 35:50Speaker 3: can all change colors, they can do all these effects,
- 35:53Speaker 3: so like they have presets on here. So for instance, Halloween,
- 35:56Speaker 3: we did a mode called lightning, and what it would
- 36:00Speaker 3: do is it would have it kind of like a
- 36:01Speaker 3: be of a like a dark purple with a little
- 36:04Speaker 3: bit of orange, and then all of a sudden it
- 36:05Speaker 3: would go boom and it would flash and all the
- 36:08Speaker 3: lights would turn on really bright, like a lightning strike,
- 36:11Speaker 3: and then it would go dim. Or we can do
- 36:13Speaker 3: Fourth of July where all the lights are red, white,
- 36:15Speaker 3: and blue and they all just chase each other around
- 36:17Speaker 3: the house. Or we can do Christmas where they're red, white, blue,
- 36:20Speaker 3: and green. Or you can do Saint Patti's Day where
- 36:24Speaker 3: they're going to be mostly green, but you can do
- 36:26Speaker 3: all these different effects where they're chasing, they're fading, they're blinking,
- 36:29Speaker 3: they're flashing, they're solid, or I can just simply do
- 36:34Speaker 3: white and just have the house illuminated in white. Wow,
- 36:39Speaker 3: it's so cool and it's all done through an app.
- 36:41Speaker 1: So the lights themselves costco. Somebody could pick them up.
- 36:45Speaker 1: They go online, find out more info about them, and
- 36:48Speaker 1: then maybe find if you don't feel like getting up
- 36:51Speaker 1: on the ladder, like, just find somebody that wants to
- 36:53Speaker 1: make a few extra bucks and we'll climb up there. Now,
- 36:56Speaker 1: what happens though, if one of the light bulbs go
- 36:59Speaker 1: goes out?
- 37:00Speaker 3: Well, I mean for and Brighton does have a lifetime
- 37:03Speaker 3: guarantee on their lights, so I'm assuming when they say
- 37:06Speaker 3: lifetime guarantee, I'm assuming like ten years or so, because
- 37:10Speaker 3: there's no way LEDs are going to last literally a lifetime.
- 37:16Speaker 3: What would happen is, again, they come in sixteen foot lengths,
- 37:20Speaker 3: so I can simply go to the point where the
- 37:23Speaker 3: light has failed, unscrew with the weather proof cap, unscrew
- 37:28Speaker 3: that strand pop it out of the molding bracket or
- 37:31Speaker 3: the mounting bracket and just pop in a new set
- 37:34Speaker 3: of sixteen and a half foot lights and then I
- 37:37Speaker 3: just reboot the system. It recognizes the new string of
- 37:40Speaker 3: lights and bam, we're off.
- 37:41Speaker 1: To the races. That's pretty good stuff. I like it.
- 37:44Speaker 1: We'll put the picture of Can we put a picture
- 37:46Speaker 1: of the house up on our on our block? B
- 37:48Speaker 1: blur out my address? All right, blog tech talk radio
- 37:52Speaker 1: dot com. We'll do that. All right, we do have
- 37:55Speaker 1: a listener question. I thought we'd go ahead and see
- 37:58Speaker 1: we can get to. Before we have taken a break,
- 38:00Speaker 1: my son has already given me his list of stuff
- 38:03Speaker 1: he would like for the holidays. I like it. He's being,
- 38:05Speaker 1: you know, proactive. I like that. So one of the
- 38:09Speaker 1: things he asked for was a mechanical keyboard with a
- 38:12Speaker 1: question mark. He has a keyboard with his computer, and
- 38:16Speaker 1: he said it's not mechanical and it would help him
- 38:19Speaker 1: type better with a question mark. Is this true? Question mark?
- 38:23Speaker 1: Because I listed every weekend to your show, and I
- 38:26Speaker 1: try to pick it all up, but I'm lost to
- 38:28Speaker 1: this one. Is there a brand better than the than
- 38:30Speaker 1: the others? That's from Melody and Staita. All right, it's
- 38:35Speaker 1: a good question. Mechanical keyboard versus say just a Logitech
- 38:40Speaker 1: keyboard or a or a keyboard you may find in
- 38:43Speaker 1: Walmart or best Buy.
- 38:45Speaker 3: So as we're talking about this question, I'm rebooting my
- 38:47Speaker 3: cool camera and it just happens to be looking at
- 38:50Speaker 3: my mechanical keyboard. So I have the Corsair mechanical keyboard.
- 38:55Speaker 3: Now I have to say I used to be the
- 38:59Speaker 3: same type of person where I was kind of like
- 39:02Speaker 3: I don't know about mechanical keyboards, Like I don't see
- 39:05Speaker 3: what the.
- 39:05Speaker 1: Big deal is, It's just a big fad whatever.
- 39:08Speaker 3: No, once I got a mechanical keyboard, it is game changing.
- 39:13Speaker 3: And I don't mean game as in video game. Yes,
- 39:16Speaker 3: it helps with video games, but the tactile feedback that
- 39:21Speaker 3: you get from a mechanical keyboard is you cannot match
- 39:25Speaker 3: that with with a whatever digital keyboard or whatever you
- 39:29Speaker 3: want to call it.
- 39:30Speaker 1: It just feels better, I mean, And that's the clicking.
- 39:35Speaker 1: He said it would help him type better? Could it
- 39:36Speaker 1: actually this? Yeah? Absolutely?
- 39:39Speaker 3: And think about it as as a parent. Now I'm
- 39:41Speaker 3: assuming this is the you know, the parent talking here.
- 39:44Speaker 3: Imagine going back to like the early nineties or even
- 39:46Speaker 3: the eighties, when you were on a keyboard, those keyboards
- 39:49Speaker 3: that were everywhere on every computer. Those were mechanical keyboards.
- 39:54Speaker 3: The loud clickity clackity clickity clack keyboards, they were all
- 39:58Speaker 3: mechanical because that's how they started. They started with mechanical,
- 40:01Speaker 3: and then somebody came up with this whole idea of
- 40:04Speaker 3: let's make them digital, which is great. They're silent, but
- 40:08Speaker 3: you don't get that tactile feedback that you would with
- 40:12Speaker 3: a mechanical So yes, I highly recommend a mechanical keyboard.
- 40:15Speaker 1: And brand wise, Uh, I know Logitech has a mechanical keyboard.
- 40:21Speaker 2: Uh, of course, there's They're all over the place, and
- 40:27Speaker 2: I don't think one brand is particularly better than the other.
- 40:30Speaker 4: Right, you just kind of maybe get an idea of what.
- 40:33Speaker 2: He wants to do with his mechanical keyboard, Right, does
- 40:36Speaker 2: he want it to be fancy and light up? Does
- 40:38Speaker 2: he want it to simply be super loud? Does he
- 40:41Speaker 2: want it to be Ask him.
- 40:45Speaker 1: What brand? Yeah?
- 40:46Speaker 4: Best Buy has him.
- 40:48Speaker 1: Yeah, so they can actually try and type them. Yeah, exactly.
- 40:52Speaker 1: I don't I don't know. Walmart has a lot of them.
- 40:55Speaker 1: They got a couple. Yeah. Yeah, all right, Well good,
- 40:58Speaker 1: we gotta take another quick break. We come back with
- 41:01Speaker 1: more of tech talk radio. We got some good stuff
- 41:03Speaker 1: to tell you about. I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Sean de Weird,
- 41:06Speaker 1: and I'm justin. Let me send us an X at
- 41:09Speaker 1: tech Talk Radio. We were right back.
- 41:11Speaker 4: Now back to tip Talk Radio.
- 41:13Speaker 3: So I'm not sure what you guys were up to
- 41:14Speaker 3: this last Friday, but I tried an emphasis on the
- 41:19Speaker 3: word try. I tried to watch the spectacle that was
- 41:25Speaker 3: Jake Paul on Netflix.
- 41:28Speaker 1: Friday before last. Yes, definitely, yeah, Oh my.
- 41:30Speaker 3: Gosh, what a horrible, horrible showcase of technology that was.
- 41:36Speaker 3: I mean, you couldn't watch it. I mean there were
- 41:38Speaker 3: so many people. It was the number one trending topic
- 41:41Speaker 3: on x which is formerly Twitter, right that people just
- 41:45Speaker 3: could not get in. They could not watch it. Netflix
- 41:48Speaker 3: has kept buffering and they would just if you could
- 41:51Speaker 3: watch it. It was completely pixelated. There were just a
- 41:55Speaker 3: handful of people that were that I've talked to that
- 41:58Speaker 3: said I didn't have any issues, And I'm like, well,
- 42:00Speaker 3: you should go buy a lottery ticket because you're one
- 42:03Speaker 3: of the lucky ones because the rest of us, the
- 42:05Speaker 3: millions and millions of people couldn't do it. Now, my
- 42:08Speaker 3: concern is, so somebody brought up a point today my
- 42:11Speaker 3: Boss actually brought up a point. He said, well, I
- 42:14Speaker 3: don't understand why Netflix couldn't do this because Amazon Prime
- 42:18Speaker 3: they do it all the time. They got you know,
- 42:20Speaker 3: live TV. They do the Thursday Night Football on Amazon Prime.
- 42:24Speaker 3: They never have any buffering alerts. And I said, well,
- 42:26Speaker 3: there's two things to that. One, this was a worldwide event.
- 42:32Speaker 3: Everybody knows who Mike Tyson is. Right, you have people
- 42:36Speaker 3: all over the world trying to get into Netflix versus
- 42:40Speaker 3: Thursday Night Football.
- 42:41Speaker 1: Eh, you're not going to get that many people.
- 42:44Speaker 3: Two. Amazon owns Amazon Web Services, which is their server farm,
- 42:51Speaker 3: basically their data centers. Right, that's what they use to
- 42:55Speaker 3: do Thursday Night football or any other type of live
- 42:57Speaker 3: TV that they do.
- 42:58Speaker 1: Right.
- 42:58Speaker 3: They own that. Netflix, however, is a customer of Amazon
- 43:04Speaker 3: Web Services. They have to pay for servers. Like if
- 43:09Speaker 3: you ever go if you ever dig into the technical
- 43:12Speaker 3: data of your Netflix stream, you will see that the
- 43:15Speaker 3: server that you're hitting is always going to say something
- 43:17Speaker 3: about like one two three, aws dot something right or
- 43:22Speaker 3: aws AWSL something whatever, because they're using Amazon Web Services. Now,
- 43:29Speaker 3: my point is, though, you're talking about the number one
- 43:32Speaker 3: streaming platform on planet Earth that could not figure out
- 43:38Speaker 3: that this is going to be a huge deal. If
- 43:40Speaker 3: your engineers come to you and say, hey, we need
- 43:42Speaker 3: one hundred servers, don't give them a hundred servers, give
- 43:46Speaker 3: them two hundred services. This has happened time and time
- 43:50Speaker 3: again for the past decade. Anytime there was a major
- 43:53Speaker 3: release of like, let's say, an online video game or
- 43:57Speaker 3: a major release of a streaming service of some yes,
- 44:00Speaker 3: I mean, it always fails and nobody ever learns their
- 44:05Speaker 3: dang lesson. They come on, how hard is it to
- 44:08Speaker 3: know that, Hey, this happened in about two years ago
- 44:10Speaker 3: and it failed. We should probably double our infrastructure.
- 44:14Speaker 2: So you mentioned Thursday night Football and you mentioned the
- 44:20Speaker 2: viewership numbers, and I just looked them up.
- 44:23Speaker 4: What do you think?
- 44:24Speaker 2: Andy and Justin you guys can both guess what do
- 44:26Speaker 2: you think the viewership of Thursday night Football is?
- 44:30Speaker 1: Oh? Boy, I don't know a seven million?
- 44:35Speaker 4: Close?
- 44:36Speaker 1: Really I would I would have to go rout about
- 44:39Speaker 1: the same seven or eight million.
- 44:41Speaker 4: So averaging twelve point six million viewers for Thursday night Football. Okay,
- 44:47Speaker 4: so on a week to week basis.
- 44:49Speaker 2: Now, how how many how many watched Netflix's Tyson Paul Fight?
- 44:54Speaker 3: I know this answer?
- 44:56Speaker 4: Sixty million?
- 44:57Speaker 1: Sixty million people.
- 44:58Speaker 4: Yeah, wow, sixty.
- 45:00Speaker 2: Million people were streaming. Yeah, that's a lot of bandwidth.
- 45:04Speaker 3: But the thing is is you talk about these companies
- 45:06Speaker 3: like Amazon Web Services or Netflix or whoever, right, they
- 45:10Speaker 3: have the ability.
- 45:11Speaker 1: To scale immediately.
- 45:14Speaker 3: Yeah, Like they can spin up virtual machines, they can
- 45:17Speaker 3: spin up virtual servers at the click of a button.
- 45:20Speaker 3: If they're like, oh man, we're at one hundred percent capacity,
- 45:23Speaker 3: spin up another couple servers, Bam done.
- 45:26Speaker 1: I don't understand how.
- 45:27Speaker 3: They could not just spin up another one hundred servers
- 45:29Speaker 3: or whatever. Maybe it wasn't even the servers that were
- 45:31Speaker 3: the problem. It could have been their internet connection, Like
- 45:34Speaker 3: maybe they just didn't have a big enough internet pipe
- 45:36Speaker 3: to serve all these people.
- 45:37Speaker 1: So we tried watching it. It was four times that
- 45:41Speaker 1: it would start to pixel eight and then we would
- 45:45Speaker 1: just get the ring, you know, where it was like
- 45:47Speaker 1: trying to reconnect. I would just exit and then go
- 45:49Speaker 1: right back into it. And we were able to watch it.
- 45:52Speaker 1: And now this is funny because I've never sat and
- 45:56Speaker 1: watched to Fight because normally they're on pay per view,
- 45:59Speaker 1: you know, or something like that. But it was because
- 46:01Speaker 1: it was on Netflix. I thought, hey, let's check this out.
- 46:05Speaker 1: You know, and I I Mike Tyson's gonna just clean
- 46:08Speaker 1: the ring with this guy, and wow, there were some
- 46:12Speaker 1: big surprises that night. Yeah, I don't know, Sean. Did
- 46:16Speaker 1: you try and watch it? Did you have buffering? Yeah?
- 46:19Speaker 2: So I was on and we were actually streaming some
- 46:23Speaker 2: of the earlier fights right because we wanted to watch
- 46:25Speaker 2: the featherweight fight, which the fight before Tyson.
- 46:29Speaker 1: And Paul was actually women was Yeah, such a good fight.
- 46:33Speaker 2: Yeah, like if if you're a boxing fan, that fight
- 46:36Speaker 2: was way more entertaining than the Tyson and Paul fight.
- 46:39Speaker 4: That fight was great. We were all trying.
- 46:41Speaker 2: There was about a dozen of us trying to watch
- 46:43Speaker 2: it on individually, trying to stream individually, and then it
- 46:45Speaker 2: all came down.
- 46:46Speaker 4: To it, we can't get it, he can't get it,
- 46:47Speaker 4: he can't get in.
- 46:48Speaker 2: Finally, one of the guys were watching was just like
- 46:50Speaker 2: I got in, and then he tried to stream it
- 46:53Speaker 2: on Discord, but Discord DMCA just a black screen. Oh well,
- 47:00Speaker 2: so when I was in and I tried to stream
- 47:02Speaker 2: as for OBS, but OBS d m C A Chrome.
- 47:06Speaker 2: Now I have dmc A, so if you try and
- 47:08Speaker 2: view it inside of another application, it just shows you
- 47:10Speaker 2: a black screen. Finally somebody was able to find an
- 47:14Speaker 2: illegal stream. I was able to put it into discord,
- 47:18Speaker 2: and we all watched it on his stream, not that we.
- 47:23Speaker 3: So I actually watched it somewhat legally because I went
- 47:28Speaker 3: When I was I was basically I was on X.
- 47:30Speaker 3: I was complaining, I was tweeting that Netflix, I was
- 47:32Speaker 3: calling them names, I was saying some things that probably
- 47:36Speaker 3: don't want to repeat on air. But I found the
- 47:40Speaker 3: former wide receiver Antonio Brown. He was at the event
- 47:44Speaker 3: in a suite and he was like he could he
- 47:47Speaker 3: could see all the people talking on X, like, hey,
- 47:49Speaker 3: this is not working, is not working. He goes, you
- 47:51Speaker 3: know what, I'm just going to go live. So he
- 47:53Speaker 3: went live on X and and and mounted his phone
- 47:57Speaker 3: on the railing overlooking the field of of of the
- 48:02Speaker 3: AT and T Stadium because you know, they have that
- 48:04Speaker 3: massive jumbo tron in the center right. So he was
- 48:08Speaker 3: basically streaming the fight on X from his point of view,
- 48:13Speaker 3: and it was totally legal because it was just his
- 48:15Speaker 3: point of view. It wasn't like it was taking the
- 48:16Speaker 3: stream or whatever. It was his point of view. When
- 48:19Speaker 3: I tuned in, it was one point seven million viewers
- 48:22Speaker 3: when Tyson Paul took the ring. There was nine million
- 48:25Speaker 3: people watching his live stream.
- 48:27Speaker 1: Because people were calling people going, hey, it's gonna start,
- 48:29Speaker 1: It's gonna start, and that's when people were kind of
- 48:32Speaker 1: tuning in for that. I missed. I missed the whole
- 48:35Speaker 1: thing with Tyson's backside that I didn't see, and I'm
- 48:40Speaker 1: probably glad I found out about it afterwards. But either way,
- 48:45Speaker 1: it was interesting, you know, speaking of this too, and
- 48:47Speaker 1: the amount of people Twitter, A lot of people said
- 48:52Speaker 1: that that's it. They were done with Twitter, so they
- 48:54Speaker 1: were moving over to Blue Sky. And Blue Sky, if
- 48:58Speaker 1: you don't know, was created by the guys that started Twitter,
- 49:02Speaker 1: and apparently it's open source. Uh so you know, people
- 49:06Speaker 1: go to and I remember when Blue Sky was first announced, I'll,
- 49:10Speaker 1: you know, kind of sign up for this. And the
- 49:13Speaker 1: thing is they were complain People have a need on
- 49:16Speaker 1: social media to complain about something, So they complained about Twitter.
- 49:20Speaker 1: They complained about the environment they were feeling that they
- 49:23Speaker 1: that was on Twitter and what were they doing. They
- 49:25Speaker 1: go on to Blue Sky and I start getting connections
- 49:28Speaker 1: on Blue Sky and people are you can follow us
- 49:31Speaker 1: tech talk radio. But the right away it was political
- 49:34Speaker 1: there and I just I didn't.
- 49:36Speaker 4: I wanted.
- 49:37Speaker 1: I just do not want any of the politics left right.
- 49:40Speaker 4: I don't want.
- 49:41Speaker 1: I wanted to this experience to on Twitter. I would
- 49:44Speaker 1: like that to go away. And uh for for being political,
- 49:47Speaker 1: and the same with Blue Sky, but Blue Sky became political.
- 49:50Speaker 1: But on the other it's like facing more to the left.
- 49:52Speaker 1: And it was like, come on people.
- 49:54Speaker 3: So so I actually had a conversation with somebody because
- 49:57Speaker 3: I was mentioning that I was on X and they
- 49:58Speaker 3: were like, oh my god, you're what of those right wingers?
- 50:01Speaker 3: And I'm like, what are you talking about? Like X
- 50:03Speaker 3: is not you know, well, I was told that this
- 50:06Speaker 3: and this person was obviously leaning towards the left and
- 50:09Speaker 3: we're not going to get political with this thing. But
- 50:11Speaker 3: I told him, I said, no, you're wrong, it's not
- 50:14Speaker 3: It's it's what the content that you want to curate exact.
- 50:17Speaker 3: And the thing is is that if you interact with
- 50:20Speaker 3: those posts, if if you hover over those posts, you
- 50:23Speaker 3: click on those posts, or you look at those comments,
- 50:26Speaker 3: it's gonna think that you want to know more about that.
- 50:29Speaker 1: It's gonna show you.
- 50:30Speaker 3: So what I've done on my personal X account is
- 50:33Speaker 3: I've curated it. I've blocked and not blocked. I've just
- 50:36Speaker 3: I've said I don't want to see this content, or
- 50:38Speaker 3: I don't want to work content, yeah yeah, or keywords.
- 50:41Speaker 3: And I've curated my x feed now to be exactly
- 50:45Speaker 3: what I want it to be. And I very rarely
- 50:48Speaker 3: see any political content. So it's just people that are
- 50:51Speaker 3: complaining over nothing. They're just too lazy to do that.
- 50:53Speaker 1: There's a lot of people that just love to complain
- 50:56Speaker 1: and on. This is both sides of the aisle. But again,
- 50:59Speaker 1: Blue Sky is there. If you are on there, connect
- 51:01Speaker 1: with us and uh, you know, we will talk games,
- 51:04Speaker 1: we talk tech, we just don't talk politics. Now that's
- 51:08Speaker 1: take another quick break. We come back with more of
- 51:09Speaker 1: tech talk Radio. I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Sean de Weird,
- 51:13Speaker 1: and I'm justin.
- 51:14Speaker 3: Let me find us on that other social media site Facebook, Facebook.
- 51:17Speaker 1: Dot com, forde slash. Tech talkers would right back and
- 51:21Speaker 1: now back to tech talk Radio.
- 51:29Speaker 3: Hey, everybody, this is Gary ho ho hoy, and you
- 51:31Speaker 3: are hanging out with tech talk Radio.
- 51:34Speaker 1: Enjoy.
- 51:36Speaker 2: So Randa emailed us a question, all right, and she said,
- 51:40Speaker 2: she said, and this, I think I'm the right one
- 51:41Speaker 2: to answer this, all right. She said, I have some
- 51:43Speaker 2: old VHS tapes in the garage and they don't have labels. Oh,
- 51:47Speaker 2: what's the best way to get them converted to DVDs?
- 51:49Speaker 2: Is it expensive? Randa from Ducson all right, well, Ronda,
- 51:54Speaker 2: for one, I'm gonna tell you not to convert it
- 51:56Speaker 2: to DVD. No really, I'm just gonna tell you to
- 51:59Speaker 2: get it converted a digital format that you can play
- 52:01Speaker 2: on your computer.
- 52:02Speaker 4: Don't get a DVD. DVD's are just gonna take a space.
- 52:05Speaker 2: You're gonna have to dig out the DVD player to
- 52:06Speaker 2: put it in, because the one's last time you put
- 52:08Speaker 2: a DVD in a DVD player?
- 52:09Speaker 1: Would that be?
- 52:09Speaker 3: Like?
- 52:10Speaker 1: What if I gonna say what I want to show
- 52:11Speaker 1: it on my TV? Right?
- 52:14Speaker 3: Most TVs come with a USB slot now, so you
- 52:16Speaker 3: can put a USB stick in the USB slot and
- 52:19Speaker 3: show your pictures that way.
- 52:20Speaker 1: Be like what m MP four format? Yeah, that's for video.
- 52:24Speaker 1: Yeah you could.
- 52:24Speaker 4: You could work that out and I'm sure the people.
- 52:26Speaker 2: So there is a service that I would recommend called
- 52:30Speaker 2: Legacy Box. You tell them I have X amount of
- 52:34Speaker 2: content that I want to be digitized. They'll send you
- 52:37Speaker 2: a box based on the amount of stuff you've told them.
- 52:41Speaker 4: You've pack it in the box, you ship it.
- 52:42Speaker 1: To them and they digitize it for you and then
- 52:44Speaker 1: they send you back the original tapes.
- 52:45Speaker 4: Anyways, right, I believe you can either I'm sure you can't.
- 52:49Speaker 2: Either tell them to destroy it or you can get
- 52:51Speaker 2: it all ship back to you, depending on what you
- 52:52Speaker 2: want to do with it. But they are doing a
- 52:55Speaker 2: sale right now. I just went to their website because
- 52:57Speaker 2: as I was looking it up, eight dollars a tape.
- 53:00Speaker 1: Ooh, that's not bad. Yeah, So if if.
- 53:04Speaker 4: You want to do it, get on there. Check it out.
- 53:06Speaker 4: Legacy box dot com. I've not personally used them.
- 53:09Speaker 2: Because I do my own digitizing, but I've had friends
- 53:13Speaker 2: and family that have used legacy Box and they've had
- 53:15Speaker 2: great success.
- 53:16Speaker 4: So legacy box dot.
- 53:17Speaker 1: Com I wanted to mention too. You know, we recently
- 53:20Speaker 1: took a look when it comes to photo scanning at
- 53:23Speaker 1: that EPSIN Fast photo six eight W which I finally
- 53:26Speaker 1: sent back to Epsin. Loved it. I scanned so many
- 53:30Speaker 1: pictures and it is pretty fast a little slower if
- 53:33Speaker 1: you're doing it six hundred dpi, and you're right, Sean,
- 53:35Speaker 1: it did go up to twelve hundred dpi. But I
- 53:38Speaker 1: sent you a picture today apparently Visioneer has got one. Now.
- 53:44Speaker 4: You sent me a link.
- 53:45Speaker 2: Earlier today and I checked it out, and I'm gonna
- 53:48Speaker 2: try to either get it for Christmas or convince somebody
- 53:51Speaker 2: in my family to buy for me.
- 53:52Speaker 1: It's the pH seventy high Speed Photo scanner and it's
- 53:56Speaker 1: about one hundred dollars cheaper than the epsin Now, I
- 54:00Speaker 1: don't know. I'm gonna try and actually see if we
- 54:02Speaker 1: can get in touch with the company, try it out,
- 54:05Speaker 1: and then we could kind of compare the quality of
- 54:08Speaker 1: the scans and the speed of that as well. But
- 54:10Speaker 1: again B and H Photo had that from Visionaire and
- 54:12Speaker 1: I've used. Matter of fact, I think I had a
- 54:14Speaker 1: flatbed scanner that was a Visionaire and absolutely loved it.
- 54:18Speaker 2: Well, so I did a little research today because I'm seriously,
- 54:21Speaker 2: I have so many pictures to scan out of my
- 54:23Speaker 2: family's archive, right, So this is a going to be
- 54:26Speaker 2: a solution for me. But it's whether it's the absence
- 54:28Speaker 2: or the Visionaire. The Visionaire if you buy it from
- 54:31Speaker 2: their website, you get a year subscription to the software
- 54:36Speaker 2: that will face that you can you can tag people's
- 54:39Speaker 2: faces and as you scan, it will tag the metadata
- 54:41Speaker 2: with those people. In there. So if you scan a
- 54:44Speaker 2: ton of photos, it will automatically tag them with the
- 54:47Speaker 2: people that are in them that you've identified. It's like
- 54:49Speaker 2: saying like my uncle, tom My, aunt Kathy, my mom
- 54:52Speaker 2: my dad, etcetera, etcetera. Then as you scan future pictures
- 54:55Speaker 2: will have that data tagged.
- 54:57Speaker 1: Oh I love it. That's great. All right, we've run
- 55:00Speaker 1: out of time for this week's show. Definitely hit up
- 55:03Speaker 1: our blog blog dot tech talk radio dot com. We'll
- 55:05Speaker 1: have more content up there. In the meantime, have yourselves
- 55:08Speaker 1: a great Thanksgiving, of course that's gonna be coming up.
- 55:11Speaker 1: And then don't forget Black Friday. Maybe next week we
- 55:14Speaker 1: could share some tips for safe shopping with cyber Monday.
- 55:17Speaker 4: I'm Andy Taylor, I'm sean.
- 55:19Speaker 3: To weird, and I'm justin. Let me have yourselves a
- 55:21Speaker 3: great holiday week. We'll see you next time.
