- Chesla Wechsler: For the love of God I never hit record. We just talked to each other and completely wasted that. Really? Yes. Son of a gun. It went really well. It went really well. We are back to talk about Best Medicine Season 2, Episode 2. I have two segments for you today. I couldn't get everybody to be together all at the same time, so we've got Chris and Carol, and then we have Mel and Gabriela, and Doug. so to all of the guests, welcome back to Podcast Portwenn, come through and let's get started. So anyway, take two. Carol and Chris. Come through and welcome back to Podcast Portwenn today, since I forgot to press record the first time. Hmm. I'm having this incredible Carol Doehler: Yeah. Chesla Wechsler: sense of deja vu. Indeed. Indeed. Carol. Good Carol Doehler: Yeah. Yeah. Well, say there was a lot of stuff going on in this episode, wasn't there? Chesla Wechsler: It was a ton. We we came up with like five or six different plot lines. Which one sticks out most in your mind? Carol Doehler: Well, I with the robberies and the trio of Martin, Mark and Louisa trying to figure this all out just showed that they make an excellent team. They work together well. And at least Mark and Louisa have fun with it. I don't know about Martin, but you know, they the two of them sure do. Yeah ooh. There's but that that was a lot of fun. And then just the squirming of Eden and her jealousy was beyond obvious in this episode. Chesla Wechsler: Yes, yes. And we've got the whole teasing thing that runs throughout. Mm-hmm. Is that a love language Carol Doehler: Yes. Chesla Wechsler: or something mean spirited? and then we've got the whole fertility thing going on, right? And Carol Doehler: Yes. Chesla Wechsler: G Gina? Right, right. The food truck and Gina. And and Al and Elaine. I mean going to New York, raising money. Yeah, raising money. So Traitor. Judas. Yeah. That's right, selling your soul to make some money. Mm So what do you think about Carol Doehler: Mm-hmm. At the cost of her soul. Yeah. You mind Judas Yeah. But Chesla Wechsler: that teasing thing? Do you think that was love language or more of a mean spirited sort of thing? Carol Doehler: Teasing can be a love language, but knowing his phobia at the level that it is, I think it was a little on the mean side. I used to be teased as a kid all the time, and you know, some of it was fun and some of it was just not fun at all. So, you know, and if you're somebody who can't handle it, then it's not a good thing. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. I mean they don't really know him that well and and you would kinda think like he really hid it for months apparently, right? And then he just brings it on at the lighthouse. They they had to realize that he was sensitive about it, but I don't know. What do you think, Chris? Half and half. A combination of of teasing for let's do this to Doc Martin or yeah, to to to Martin. And then so but there's also an element of I g I guess I could see Louisa's point that he he's one of us. We we know he can take it and so we'll do this. So So yeah, so it is sort of a teasing, definitely a teasing episode. But there's also an element of community in there too. But I I would not mix a brew like that, but Yeah. Yeah. Why do you think they did Carol Doehler: Yeah, no. Chesla Wechsler: it, Carol? Carol Doehler: You know, I don't know if it was their way to try and make him feel welcome. But like my initial thought was that Eden had some hand in this and that, you know, is this her way to try and get him to face his phobia? Because one of the previews, I don't know if it's for next week, but one of the preview shots was she hid a a bag of blood in a drawer and when he opened it he t he screamed like a girl. So I don't know if this is her way of like getting him over this and laid it out on the townspeople. Was it their idea? Did she have a hand in it? I I don't know. Maybe not. Yeah. Chesla Wechsler: She was right there. I mean, she was right on scene. Carol Doehler: Yeah, she was. And like like I say, is Martin Martin and then Chesla Wechsler: Yes. Carol Doehler: she got close to him and was Martin. So, you know, was she trying to soften up? She had a couple of soft spots very briefly. But Chesla Wechsler: Mm. Yeah. Carol Doehler: a couple of soft spots when she was helping Elaine, you know. Chesla Wechsler: Right. I love how she said, I have my moments. Like Carol Doehler: Yeah, yeah, yeah. And she she's the actress is playing that role very well. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah, I I could see where she had a might have had a hand in setting up or or sparking that teasing incident because you have the townspeople on one side and making fun of Martin and that could like drive him away from from from Port Wenn. So I could see Eden trying to do that as trying to to put a wedge between Martin and the people of Port Wenn. So so I think there might be something to that theory. Yeah, I like your theory, Carol. I hadn't thought of that before, but that's an interesting one. You know? But also Carol Doehler: Yeah, I don't know why. Chesla Wechsler: if it's gonna work, she would she would definitely have to sell it to the townsfolk as play along with me because you know, she comes in and she dresses them down right afterward. So she would Carol Doehler: Right. Chesla Wechsler: have had to prime them like I'm gonna come in and I'm gonna, you know give you guys all of course Martin had already vamoosed, so maybe that was okay, but one thing I thought was funny was she says, massacring teenagers at a summer camp is funny. And no, it's really not Well, Carol Doehler: No, it isn't. Chesla Wechsler: if you see these teenage horror slasher flicks. But they're not comedies, they're slasher flicks. Well, they're Carol Doehler: Sure. Chesla Wechsler: some of them are are very campy. And the campiness is But Friday the thirteenth was was just frightening. You know? Because I Carol Doehler: Yeah. Chesla Wechsler: think that's what she was referring to. And and then you take that and I talked about this with the other three. My wacky theory. You take that weird comment, the fact that she's got like all these instruments folded up that she brings to lunch, kinda like Dexter, the serial killer, right? And then She's got a switchblade. Carol Doehler: Yeah. Chesla Wechsler: so do you think she might be revealed in one of the later episodes as the perpetrator of a series of serial murders? No, I just think that there's something wacky with Eden. I mean, she's she's clear Carol Doehler: she definitely is. Chesla Wechsler: But she's she's I think she's an okay person, right? I mean, like she seems like she loves Martin and she thinks she knows what's best for him, and there's an element of her interaction with him. He's obviously welcomed her into his bed. He's comfortable with her. He tells Aunt Sarah she's not going anywhere. So they have a relationship. You know, we we root against her a little because we want to see him with Louisa. But she hasn't inherently done anything bad yet. She's just Somebody we don't think is good for him 'cause she doesn't stretch him emotionally, which he likes. But I just thought those three things were wacky. And also with that Martin, Martin, And I think that Martin thing might come up as a and I hate being called Martin. 'Cause it seems so intentional. Carol Doehler: Yeah. Yeah. It it's almost like an authoritative voice. Chesla Wechsler: And and she seems a little controlling, doesn't she? Carol Doehler: yeah, yeah, definitely. She's gonna be in charge no matter what. And like I say towards the end of the episode when after he gave Louisa the shot. Well, first off, he took the syringe from her hand and that the look on her face was kind of like, what are you doing? And talks her down off the the rooftop there and gets her to calm down and then they hug. And that that girl says, aren't they cute together? And she's like an immediate hard no. Yeah. You know, it's and how she joined him on the trail after she took care of Elaine. It says, You hiked up here? It's like, yeah. Chesla Wechsler: We're both doctors. Aren't we compatible? Aren't we compatible? Carol Doehler: No. No. Chesla Wechsler: Hey, what'd you think of Mark? Carol Doehler: I love him. He Chesla Wechsler: Ha ha. Carol Doehler: he's a goofball, but I just love him. Like I've said before, he is a good human. And at the end of the day, we need some good humans. And Chesla Wechsler: Doesn't he have great lines? Carol Doehler: yeah. The the bit where yeah, we had jaywalking, that was on you, meaning Martin. And then there was public urination. Yeah, that's on me. Chesla Wechsler: There is the when they're trying to figure out who the perpetrators of the break-ins could be, based on the things that are taken. And Mark says, you are like the most expert forensic doctor f you know following following this trail Or you're seriously dil delusional and should get professional help. Right. Carol Doehler: Yeah. Chesla Wechsler: I I thought that line was a little too cerebral for Mark. But I mean he could have Carol Doehler: I was gonna say I thought it was a good line. Chesla Wechsler: it it was a good line, but for his his character I think should have like softened it a little bit. Well it I I know what you're saying, 'cause like if you if you add that to him talking about she gets the shot, you know, that's right. Like the eggs will hatch in her, most Carol Doehler: Yeah yeah. Get her knocked up. Chesla Wechsler: of the stuff he says is not as well thought out as you're either a great detective or you're delusional. Yeah. Like that's even too big a word for Mark. Carol Doehler: Yeah, he could've used Delulu. Chesla Wechsler: Yep. Yep. Yep. But he and his mom Still a good line. Yes. Good line. He and his mom, Carol Doehler: Mm. Chesla Wechsler: huh? Carol Doehler: yeah. I mean, like I said too, she's the reason why he's the way he is. Because Marky you know, coddling Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Carol Doehler: him. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Yeah. She does treat him like a child, that's for sure. So What Carol Doehler: Yeah. Chesla Wechsler: did you think of Aunt Sarah and Eden? Do you think that Aunt Sarah was really sort of trying to make nice with Eden, at least at the beginning? Carol Doehler: for half a second or two until Eden says, Yeah, well once we get him over this blood phobia and we get him back to Boston, and I'll let him come visit once in a while and you can come visit. And that was like Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Carol Doehler: mm-mm. Not today, Satan, not today. Chesla Wechsler: I love that. That's great. Yeah. I l it and was it was it Aunt Sarah that talked about Eye of Newt and a Cauldron or something? Carol Doehler: Yeah, yeah, yeah. When when Martin was having, you know, telling her, you know, ha get together with her, try and get along with her, because she's not going anywhere. She's important to me too, like you are. Chesla Wechsler: Mm-hmm. Yeah. And I think he said she's saying she's trying to help me with the blood stuff and I think it's I think that's when she might have talked about Eye of Newt and the cauldron. yes. But I I I know when he said she's not going anywhere and Sarah's something like, Even if I pay her? Carol Doehler: Yeah, yeah. Yeah, 'cause she owns her house now. Of course it's Chesla Wechsler: That's right. Carol Doehler: in disrepair due to Judith blowing it up. Chesla Wechsler: That's right. Yes, yes, yes. Yeah. And Carol Doehler: And I hope that they bring her back. Chesla Wechsler: yeah. She was great, Andrea Martin. Yeah. Yeah. And and they're bringing back Martin Clunes. That'll be delightful. Mm-hmm. Carol Doehler: Yeah. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Sounds like he's coming by himself. what what did you think of old man Collins? Carol Doehler: He he's so funny and he's just like almost in his own world and you know is like I don't know what you're talking about, you know, with his taking medicine Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Carol Doehler: and all this stuff, but using those adult diapers for his planters to soak up the moisture. And he was exactly Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Yeah. A and he left money. Yeah, he left money for So that he didn't steal He actually paid for them. Because there's single women in town. He didn't want them to see Carol Doehler: Yes, exactly. Yeah. Yeah. He's still single, so yeah, he's gotta keep Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Carol Doehler: up appearances. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Exactly. My shorts are as dry as my skin. Yeah, Carol Doehler: Yeah. Chesla Wechsler: th this this I liked the writing in this that they had a lot of Did you notice when Eden walks into the waiting room and everybody who's ch chatting away and having kind of a nice time sitting there, they all just kinda Carol Doehler: Yeah. Chesla Wechsler: And then she leaves her luggage and she just Gestures to Elaine like, take care of this. I wondered Carol Doehler: Yeah, just the hand signals. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah, I d I remember seeing that gesture and wondering what it Yeah, yeah. I mean that's being a jerk. Carol Doehler: Yeah. That's just her Chesla Wechsler: Right. Carol Doehler: thing. It's like you said, she's not really a bad person. She just comes off with that jerky authoritative manner that Chesla Wechsler: Mm-hmm. Carol Doehler: that town doesn't like. Chesla Wechsler: Right. Carol Doehler: And you know, it's like last season. They they set us up to get to know the quirkiness of the town, all of their festivals and events and such. And as you said, now we're getting into Who are these people? A little more depth. It's like Chesla Wechsler: Mm. Right. Yep. Carol Doehler: I'd like to see where, you know, Louisa's background. We're getting a Chesla Wechsler: Yes. Carol Doehler: very tiny glimpse of Martin's with with his dad and Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Carol Doehler: mother. But yeah, I just I think that would be interesting. And if they double No. Chesla Wechsler: We know nothing about her. Carol Doehler: And Mark's dad. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Who's he? What one thing I liked about this episode, in contrast to many of the episodes of the first season There weren't a lot of scenes or scenes where you had like the whole village together. Mm-hmm. It's it was sort of focused on individual people or groups of individual people, but not like the whole village together. so Yeah. Yeah. More character development. Yeah. Although last week they did have the scene by the lighthouse, but still that was not all of the villagers. It A significant portion of them, but people who needed to be there. Yeah. It was spontaneous. They were searching for her and that's where they ended up. It wasn't like an organized event. Yeah. Yeah. Carol Doehler: Yeah, did you notice when they panned out, they kinda were standing in the mermaid tail formation. Chesla Wechsler: no Carol Doehler: That was kinda cool. That's the way I interpreted it. That's the way how it looked to me. Chesla Wechsler: Cool. Now I'm gonna have to go back. Yeah, we'll have to check. Yeah. Carol Doehler: Yeah, there's a lot of subtle hints in this show Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Cool. Carol Doehler: and a lot of innuendos, and I'm just cracking up. One of Chesla Wechsler: Yeah, yeah. Carol Doehler: one of my most favorite lines was from last season, and I can't remember the the gal's name, but she was coming in and he says, How can I help? She says, I'm here to give you a piece of my mind. And he goes, That's generous. Do you accept returns? It's Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Carol Doehler: like That would have been a good one to use at work, of course. Getting written up, but you know. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah, yeah. Yes. Carol Doehler: It's just my type of humor. Chesla Wechsler: Uh-huh. I I know you haven't seen Doc Martin, but one of my favorite lines ever in my life is he's being spoken to by somebody who he doesn't want to listen to anymore and he just says, Can I stop you there? And the guy's like, Yes, and he just walks off. I'm like, Carol Doehler: Ha ha ha Chesla Wechsler: Th there will come a day when I can use that and I will thoroughly enjoy it. Carol Doehler: Yeah. Chesla Wechsler: The the best line I thought in this episode was by Gina the pizza lady, which was I have Tourette's and poison ivy. So it's just a nice Carol Doehler: Ha ha. Chesla Wechsler: juxtaposition and I thought it was very funny. Something serious and something that's gonna go away, but I I loved Gina. I thought she was hilarious. Carol Doehler: yeah, yeah. And just how she figured out where that property line was, where she could Chesla Wechsler: Ha ha. Carol Doehler: set up shop, and how they was it George that stepped Chesla Wechsler: And Greg. Carol Doehler: over the property line and now now you're on my property. And then when he Chesla Wechsler: Mm-hmm. Carol Doehler: haul when he hauled out the hot dog cart, God, that was funny. Chesla Wechsler: That was a good strategic move. Carol Doehler: Yeah, yeah. And how the townspeople were so fickle, you know, it's like, what's better than a Brooklyn hot dog? And they all go trudging over there. And Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Carol Doehler: then she comes half off pizza and they all go running over there. And Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Carol Doehler: then it's half free hot dogs over here. Well, how about free pizza? And they're just going back and forth like crazy. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. And that's when her verbal ticks really came out because she's handing out pizza boxes saying free hot dogs, free hot dogs, free hot dogs. Mm-hmm. Carol Doehler: Yeah. Chesla Wechsler: Like, why is she saying free hot dogs? Well, 'cause that's what she heard Greg say. Right, right. And and I thought from a a standpoint of pulling off you know, I don't know if this is writing, acting, directing, but whatever they did for this episode, I thought she introduced that repetitive thing very well. Like you you kinda saw that she did it, but that just could be how she talks. I know that I say things twice a lot. Carol Doehler: Yeah. Chesla Wechsler: You could agree with me. Could be. Yeah. I mean if I'm on a softball field I'm like, you know, play's at two, play's at two. You know. So I I know that I do this. But Well, that's emphasis. But it but it's a habit. That's a weird habit that I have, but I don't have Tourette's that I know of. Anything else that struck where would you put this episode in your now that we've seen fifteen episodes or so, where would you put this in your faves? Carol Doehler: It's one of the top favorites, I would say. Yeah, Chesla Wechsler: good. Carol Doehler: it it just it was just so funny. Chesla Wechsler: Mm-hmm. Carol Doehler: I mean there was a lot going on and I've watched it well, the first time I tried to watch it there were kids and dogs and stuff running around and it wasn't too successful. So I watched it again yesterday and then I watched it again today, dealing with taking dog in and out and stuff, but You could for me I could watch it a couple more times and probably still pick up on some other things that I missed out, you know. But Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Yeah. I did not at all think about the fact that Eden might have been behind the whole blood thing, the whole ketchup thing. I think that's a really good theory. Carol Doehler: I don't know. I like I said, I don't know what drew me to Chesla Wechsler: Maybe we'll find out in Carol Doehler: that, but she's she's a unique character. She and her switchblade. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Yes. Yes. Yes. Well listen, thank you so much for for grabbing some time out of your schedule. I know you're really busy Carol Doehler: Sure. Chesla Wechsler: And thank you for being here. I love being here. Yes, you live here. So I do. So Carol Doehler: Yeah. Chesla Wechsler: do you. Yes, I do. I do. And folks who are listening, subscribe, like the episode, leave your comments. We're incorporating them into the episodes now. And we are all of 16 subscribers on YouTube away from getting to 200, which is pretty cool. Not bad for a little hobby in a little niche area. so Carol, thanks again. Chris, thanks again, and we'll see you next week. Bye bye. Carol Doehler: All right. Have a good rest of your day. Chesla Wechsler: Alright, welcome back, everybody. We are here to discuss season two, episode two. Breaking in is hard to do. I've got Mel, Doug, Gabriela,. Come through and welcome back to Podcast Portwenn, you guys. So let's kick this off with Doug. What what things do you find interesting or funny in this particular episode? Mel: I think it's kind of great, but Doug B.: Well, the the first thing that jumps out at me is is my the reme remembering my comment from last week where I said Eden was conniving. I'm kind of with Elaine on this one. It's like, wow, she was really nice. And maybe not so conniving, maybe she just loves Martin and in a weird kinda way. Gabriela: . Mel: have probably should be Doug B.: And that's why she's there and it's really not conniving, it's almost sweet, and in her her own her own way. so that was one thing that jumped out Chesla Wechsler: your make cool. Doug B.: at me. And the other thing that that made me laugh is then when when Elaine was chugging the gosh. Chesla Wechsler: Cranberry juice. Doug B.: That's it. Mel: Yeah. Doug B.: She was chugging the cranberry juice just like by the gallon. So I thought that was great. Chesla Wechsler: We've been there. We get that. Gabriela,, you must be happy at the Eden comments. Gabriela: Yes, I love her character, which I know you guys This group is like iffy about her, but yeah, I think this episode shows she's like actually sweet and nice and I don't think she has an ulterior motive, but I think she just, she likes Martin the way he is and doesn't care to like change him, which I think that's what he likes about her, but it's also probably not what he needs, but. Yeah, I don't know. I like her character, especially this episode. It really solidified Chesla Wechsler: She had a little niceness. We got some comments online when I asked, like, is Eden a force for evil or good? So let's see what we got here. it was definitely a mix. So Lisa and Becky on YouTube and Judy on Facebook definitely think Eden is a force for no good. Judy even described her as evil. but you know, you Gabriela, and HeyJude love Eden. And I think she's fine. You know, she thinks she's on Martin's side, right? Whether she is or not. Gabriela: Yeah. Chesla Wechsler: how about you, Mel? What did you think about this episode and find fun and interesting? Mel: I liked the well I I liked all the Martin and Louisa content for one thing, but I also thought the 80s movies references were very funny. Doug B.: Mm. Mel: I mean the the one that I was never expecting to hear and even forgot the movie existed was Cocoon. And was like, wait, yeah, that was a movie. And Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Mel: it was about old people and aliens. so I just I was not expecting that movie to ever come up in a reference. So then I can't remember what he said about Gina. Something cross between something and Godzilla. And I can't remember what the first thing was, but I remember cackling when she when he said that. so I I thought that was funny. And it it was one of those again, I felt like there was just so much packed into this episode and so many like really funny one liners that I I'd almost have I this is the one episode of the two Gabriela: Okay. Okay. Mel: of them that I really feel like I need to go back and watch again because I probably missed so much. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. I of course Doug B.: To me there seemed like there was a lot going on in this episode. Mel: Mm-hmm. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Yeah. Mel: Yeah. Chesla Wechsler: Regarding the eighties references, the ones I caught were the Cher out of Moonstruck, right? And the Cocoon reference. But the one that I don't know if you noted, and I actually think there's a a a strange underlying theme here, Eden tells when when Eden is defending Martin when he gets teased. she's like, you know, teenagers getting massacred at a summer camp is funny. Gabriela: . you Mel: Yep. Yep. Chesla Wechsler: Which is like Friday the 13th reference. But you add that reference, like that's really not funny, right? That was a slasher movie. You add that to the fact that she brings her own cutlery, which is like this Dexter like set of s of knives and stuff, and she's got a switchblade. Right? When she go like, who is this woman? Did you guys catch that? Gabriela: Yeah, that was so funny. I love that. I was agreeing with Aunt Sarah, like of course she would. Of course she would bring her own cutlery. I'm also curious to why, Chesla Wechsler: Right. That's not creepy, right? Gabriela: like, so random. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. That's why I'm wondering, like, what is up with Eden? If you've ever seen Dexter, he like has this wrapped up set of tools that he uses to slice and dice his his victims. What is Eden up to? Anyway. so what about the the plot itself? We've got Martin it starts off with Martin getting teased. Right. Doug, what do you what did you think about that whole thing? Doug B.: yeah, so I I th being teased is never good, right? I who ha who wasn't teased when they were a kid in in school? So you know, I I I identify with Doc Martin on so many different levels and this is just one more. Gabriela: . Chesla Wechsler: That's funny. Doug B.: So yeah, it sucked. Al although, you know, it did s it did come around you know, come full circle with the walk walk in the woods and Louisa saying, Well, yeah, I I get it, but you know, you you need to lighten up because really it was not meant in a malicious way. So I guess it was okay. It was their way of saying I love you. a weird way. Gabriela: Okay. Chesla Wechsler: you think, Mel? Mel: I'm still not fully sold on, it was just meant to be, you know, a lighthearted tease. And I I know I know that's what Louisa thought and she did kind of bring him around to that. But I guess I'm somewhat just somewhat sensitive to Gabriela: . Mel: teasings. This this teasing seemed to have a tinge of meanness to it. And that's kind of what rubbed me the wrong way about it. And it's teasing him about something that not only that they just found out about, but something that he's really sensitive about. And so I th I think there's a fine line between teasing somebody over something that's just, you know, a a personality quirk and something that they're sensitive about and it hasn't been that long since the town found out about it. He's still kind of reeling from the fact that the town like he he told the town about it and that they know about it and now they're teasing him about it. and so I could I could totally see how that would make him feel like He just doesn't belong in this town again. Chesla Wechsler: What do you think, Gabriela,? You're a tiebreaker. Gabriela: I think, yeah, the joke was like cruel to begin with, but I'm also like, in their perspective, they don't realize how sensitive it is to Martin. Like they just don't know that aspect about him yet. I think it was their way of kind of like showing that they accept him for who he is and like no matter his fear, like they love him and Yeah, a weird way of showing it, but I think it was like good intention. And I think he does realize that later on, thanks to Louisa. And he's like, like they're actually accepting me. And he's never like experienced that before, I think. So think his like mixed emotions are pretty valid. Chesla Wechsler: I'm I'm pretty much with you because like Louisa says, she did they didn't run him out of town. They didn't go report him. Like they just was like, hey, you know, ha ha ha. Now was it nice to do? No, obviously. I mean and and they should have apologized to him instead of trying to make him like, come on, Doc Right? They should have just been like, I didn't realise you'd take it so seriously. We really didn't mean it that way. It wouldn't have then taken Louisa to explain it in the woods so much later. Doug B.: Yeah. Chesla Wechsler: But Gabriela,, why don't you talk about something that you want to talk about? Gabriela: Okay, Sarah stirring up the pot with Eden. Love that. it was so funny. Just like they were like doing okay, like getting along and then as soon as she, Eden brings up that they might go to Boston Aunt Sarah's like alarms went off and like just spilled the beans, which I think it was really funny. Mel: Okay. Gabriela: And Eden's Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Gabriela: reaction was really funny. I really enjoyed that. Chesla Wechsler: I like how she had the hiccups and Aunt Aunt Sarah cures her of the hiccups and she's thank you, you've cured me. that. Doug B.: I'm gonna try that the next time. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Yeah. but off but she's like, you know, put your arms over your head. What is she doing? She's like completely awkward. You don't get a sense that she's like the super coordinated person. Did you guys catch when Eden Doug B.: I'm gonna try it again. Chesla Wechsler: said something along the lines of I'll allow him to come visit you in Port Wenn? Gabriela: Yep. Chesla Wechsler: Like Gabriela: I was just talking about that with one of my friends. think Mel, you probably would have seen it. But it just felt like, she's allowing him. Like, he needs permission to go visit. And that was a little weird. Weirdly worded, but hopefully it's not like bad intention. Chesla Wechsler: she's got a switchblade. I'm st I'm wondering about this lady. Gabriela: Yeah, but Marion has a hangar, so... Someone needs to protect it. Yes. Chesla Wechsler: I parry you with my hanger. Yeah, that's funny. How about you, Doug? Is there anything else that jumped out at you with this particular episode? Doug B.: Well, the conversation you guys are having right now is is kind of making me rethink what I said about Eden to be g you know, at the top of the show. I'm like, Well, she's you know, maybe she is a force of good or at least she's not a force of bad but now you're like, now she's showing that she's controlling. I'm like, Well, I don't like that Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Yeah. What do you think, Mel? Mel: I mean, I as far as Eden goes, I think she's she's a complex character. And I actually like what I like about the show is that the characters are not one-dimensional. They're they're very human in the sense that, you know, they all have like even Martin acknowledges at times that I think when he when Louisa asked him if he was teased as a kid, he Yeah. He said, but he says something like, But I was also you know, a sanctimonious jerk or something along those lines. Like he acknowledged the fact that he was probably one of those kids that was like Gabriela: . Mel: smart and wanted everybody to know it and you was probably part of the reason why he was teased. So I think Martin can be his coldness and as you saw it last season too his coldness can make him seem like a bit of a jerk. But yet he also has that ability to be really kind and caring to people when he's to be which they showed this this episode. So Chesla Wechsler: Mm-hmm. Mel: I I just and Eden has that too you know she can be very Caring, obviously. I I and I I think I made a comment similar to that on YouTube that she wouldn't have made it this far as a doctor if she didn't have some way of connecting with patients, especially patients who are, you know, trying to have children. and but yet sometimes she has this this side of her that seems to be very, I don't know, controlling. Not not just the allowing Martin, but even the whole bringing silverware to a lunch. It's it's that very controlling tendencies. but and again, it's very human. I th I think the Gabriela: . . Mel: know the characters are complex. There's no, one character other than maybe Glendon. there's no one character that's all good or all bad. They all Chesla Wechsler: Mm-hmm. Mel: have very human flaws. and you know one of the things that kind of a segue onto that one of the things that I found interesting was the dynamic between Gina, George, and Greg and how they acted when she showed up. Gabriela: . Mel: They I mean, had again, I had mixed feelings about it because on one hand I'm throwing why, you know, why did she feel the need to pitch up in front of the main restaurant in town and pretty much rub it in their faces when there were other spots that she likely could have gone to. and then on the other hand, I'm thinking, you know, rather than trying to push her out, she's she's obviously filling a food service food need that the town doesn't have. So why not embrace her and partner with her and say, hey. You know, you sell your pizzas out here, people can will come in for drinks, because you can't tell, you know, you're likely not gonna be selling alcohol, or you know, people can go back and forth and make it, you know, an outdoor area. Gabriela: . Mel: Instead, they they were very much like, no, go away. You can't be here. We need, you know, this is this is our spot. And getting angry at the people of the town for not like showing undying loyalty to them, which Chesla Wechsler: Right. Doug, you're you're nodding. Mel: was not yeah. So that was the piece that stood out to me, I think. That that That trifecta was it an interesting dynamic? Doug B.: Yeah, it was an interesting dynamic with Gina and and the restaurant boys. you know, and then of course at the end they all came around and they made nice nice when they found out she was sick, so Chesla Wechsler: Not for nothing. I thought it was a little snotty of Gina to show up right there and to rent that tiny little space. I mean if the VFW Mel: Mm-hmm. Chesla Wechsler: had a parking lot that she could set up in, it's not a big place. I mean anyway, but she was se Mel: Okay. Chesla Wechsler: serving a need, but I thought that was a little snotty. But I love that character. Gina was a hoot. What do you think, Gabriela,? Gabriela: I loved her too. I like the whole Brooklyn. aspect bringing that into Portwenn. I think it was fun to see them battle it out when they really didn't need to. All of their interactions were funny. I like Gina as a character too. Her Chesla Wechsler: Mm-hmm. Gabriela: Tourette's is pretty relatable. I have mild tics. I'm like, I get you, girl. I get you. It does... We're on the struggle bus sometimes, but... And I like that Martin, like how he calmed her down. It was like very... He was very caring, very like soft spoken with her. I was like, wow, Martin should be my psychologist. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah, he did great there. I had to laugh when she was trying to get Elaine to do her little ad, and she's like fifteen hundred bucks. A high end call girl doesn't even get that. At least my sister didn't. Gabriela: Yeah. Doug B.: Yeah. Chesla Wechsler: Like, man. Doug B.: No, it's funny. Chesla Wechsler: Lot of good lines in this particular episode. Can you think of any others? Doug, think of anything off hand? Doug B.: yeah, just at the very end, you know, the thing that jumped out at me when they're in the cabin with the gunshot wound was, All right, this is great. This is Port Wenn meeting The Pitt, which is a T V show that I love. And to bring those two things together, unfortunately it was a little lacking on the blood and and gore, but it was still a little bit like The Pitt. Chesla Wechsler: Mel, do you remember any funny lines? Mel: I think I mentioned the movie ones. Those are the ones that mainly stood out to me. And I know there was something else. the and we talked about this, the the Sarah, Sarah and Eden dynamic. I know which one. Actually, now I take that back. Mark says to Louisa about her medicine. He's like, yeah, we're it Gabriela: . . Mel: We have to go get you knocked up. And I just, I I literally my mouth, my jaw dropped. I was like, wait, did he just say what I think he said? Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. And also Mel: And her response was Gabriela: So. Mel: literally like, it doesn't work that way. But it was just such a like it just he just said it so matter of factly and just it was so crude, but yet he said it so like Chesla Wechsler: He had so many times when he got it wrong, right? Mel: yeah. Chesla Wechsler: We're gonna get your eggs, we're gonna make them hatch within you. Doug B.: Mark is has Mark can be so diverse, but I'm I from really not appreciating him last season I really actually like him now. Chesla Wechsler: And and Martin and Mark are making a very good team now supporting Louisa, don't you think? What do you think, Gabriela,? Gabriela: Yes. Mel: Yes. Gabriela: I think they've been making a good duo so far this season. It's been a lot of them together in every scene. Which I think is fun and it's funny because Mark is so goofy and kind of a doofus and Martin is just not afraid to tell him to like, no, you're wrong. So yeah, I like their friendship. Yeah, they make a good duo. Sherlock and Holmes, as Mark says. Chesla Wechsler: Mm-hmm. Yes. Doug B.: Yes. Chesla Wechsler: Now Eden witnesses the tenderness with Martin and Louisa. How you guys are all shippers of those two. Who wants to take that first? Mel: Yeah, Doug B.: Well, back to the the the very last scene or or one of the last scenes of the show is when the the woman the the the girlfriend of the the guy who got shot says, don't they look so cute together? And then Eden says, No Chesla Wechsler: Yes. And it was a very quick, Doug B.: That was good. Chesla Wechsler: emphatic no. Yeah. Mel: Yeah. Yeah, I I'm I'm I'm very curious to see how the next episode is gonna play out with that because you know, she finds out about the kiss and then discovers that they've you know gone off together in the woods. So she chases after them. And then she she you know, she witnesses Martin calming Louisa down and that hug at the end. And she has she had to have seen the feelings they had for one one another. I I I I what I thought was interesting too is that it was Eden was initially going to be the one that gave her the shot and Martin ended up being the one to do so, which I thought was very interesting. Chesla Wechsler: Mm. Mm-hmm. Gabriela,, what did you think about those those guys? Gabriela: I really like this triangle because it's like, it's a different kind of triangle than other shows do. Where I think like Eden and Louisa are both, they're both good choices, I think, for Martin. And that's like, usually not how it goes. It's usually a rooting for, I'm rooting for Louisa obviously, but like I could see from Martin's perspective why he would have a difficult time sorting his feelings out for either. But yeah, I like that Eden now knows and she's now kind of aware of all the moments between them. I especially like when she was with Elaine and Elaine's like, yeah, Al saw them running off into the woods together and she's like, nope. And she just immediately left. Mel: Mm-hmm. Gabriela: And I was like, Elaine, why'd you say it like that? so yeah, I think it's going to be entertaining. I'm looking forward to it. Chesla Wechsler: How do you think this is all gonna work out? I mean, based on all the stuff that you just said. I mean, what what's gonna happen in the next episode or two with those three? Gabriela: I think Eden's... I think she's gonna slowly realize that she's kind of the third wheel and that Martin is like in love with Louisa and he's not in love with her. Which I think we already see in this episode with the whole like, respect you so much. Like I could tell that Eden was really like, I love you so much. And Martin's like, yeah, I respect you too. So I think like that's gonna come up. And then Eden's gonna just like gonna have to let him go because he's not fully committed, I think. Chesla Wechsler: She's got the high ground. do you think, Mel? Mel: I think I agree with get with Gabriela,. I think it will be interesting to see how how this plays out. And I I do think too, and I I think I made a comment about this on YouTube as well, that I it'll be interesting to see how Eden's character develops when true extent of her feeling Martin's feelings for Louisa become evident. In the sense that going back to your point last week, Doug, it you know, if she's if she's truly, you know, doing this because she's, you know, conniving and wants what she wants, then you know, it may be something where it's gonna be a more of a traditional kind of love triangle where she's gonna try to do everything she can to sabotage that. But if she does truly care about Martin, then I could see her saying, you know, I I can see that you really love this woman. and that, you know, f for whatever reason you're happy here and you know, I respect you and Gabriela: Okay. Mel: care enough about you to step step away. And that that's the one that I hope for. That's that's the route that I hope they go with her. I hope they don't do the, you know, the classic trope of, you know, the don't I I'm I'm keeping this G rated so don't get in trouble. The witch who, tries to stick stick her claws into the man and does anything in her, you know, power to ensure that she gets the guy, regardless of what he wants. and I like I said, I would I really don't want them to go that way with Eden because that's just so cliched Gabriela: Okay. Mel: at this point. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Doug, any thoughts on that? Doug B.: Yeah, I agree with both of you. I think I think it's likely that she will realize that this is not her place and she needs to let him go. And she'll probably be heartbroken. Well, actually she won't be heartbroken because that's not how she is. She but but she won't be unhappy but she'll realize that this is not gonna work out because his heart is somewhere else. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah, I'm I'm gonna go out on a limb here and I'm just gonna make a contrarian proposal. I think Eden's somehow gonna show some true colors that are not that pretty. And at some point Martin is going to say something like, And I hate when you call me Martin. 'Cause she's always saying, Martin, Martin And I'm like, that just seems as intentional as her funky haircut last season. is there something going on? Gabriela,, you're thinking maybe? Gabriela: Just the Martin aspect. was like, she's pronouncing like every syllable out of his name. I don't know why I thought that was funny. But I don't know. I don't think she has... I don't think they're gonna go that way, but they might. I think she's like, I don't know. I just think she's a nice, sweet person and she'll... She'll, I think she'll try to like, obviously win Martin over in a way. But I don't think it's gonna be as conniving as people think. And then eventually she's just gonna like let him go. Yeah. Chesla Wechsler: Now Doug, earlier you had said that Mark is really growing on you. And I have to admit that he's he's grown on me quite a bit this season too. And online, Lisa and amis1887 also had high marks for Mark. So Mel and Gabriela,, I think you guys were you liked Mark anyway to begin with. So is he getting even better in your estimation, or you like him pretty much the same? Gabriela: Yeah, I've liked Mark since the beginning He was just always funny and he's like you can just tell he's a sweetheart but This season especially I'm like they're giving Mark like the best lines so far I think it's like really he's gotten a lot funnier But yeah, I've always liked them so no real change of opinion here Chesla Wechsler: Okay. Mel, what do you think? Mel: I honestly I didn't have really strong opinions about him one way or the other. I know, I know a lot of people fall into that either I really like him or I really don't camp. but I I am happy to see because I'm a little bit to the extent that I that I I want to say dislike him, but to the extent that he was somewhat annoying. I was kind of in your camp, Chesla, where sometimes I felt like the goofiness last season was a little over the top to the point where it was like, how is this man in law enforcement? And yeah, how is he a functioning adult? So I'm I'm glad that that's been toned down a little bit. His his goofiness has been toned down to the point where it's actually just funny now and not so goofy that you're going, What is wrong with this guy? Chesla Wechsler: I think there's still a little bit of implausible goofiness, but it's certainly much better than last year, when I found him just n not believable. and then we also I guess his mom was in this episode a little bit when she's just it's her pharmacy that gets robbed. so I don't think she had that big of a a role in this one. He gives her a big hug, but I'm still waiting to figure out the Eden, I think you Eden, my god, Gabriela,, you had brought up the Sort like Mark and Sally, Mylow like what what could you make of that, the psychology of those two? Gabriela: Yeah, my post on Facebook, that kind of added Chesla Wechsler: Mm-hmm. Gabriela: that Freud would love their relationship and I think he would. It's just like very weird mother-son relationship, which I've seen a lot of on like TikTok and just like on the media these days, where they're a little bit too close. but yeah, think Sally's always kind of like babied him a lot, which probably speaks to his like immaturity a little bit. And I don't think Mark has ever left Portwenn, so I think he's always been in that little bubble. And so. Yeah, I think like it all just it makes sense that why his personality is the way that it is. But I do love him and I love that. We know that he's not allowed to have a taser. Thankfully, because that would be dangerous and. Chesla Wechsler: Yes, yes. Gabriela: Yeah, that was funny. Chesla Wechsler: Doug with respect to Mark, do you think he's looking a little bit more competent this season? Doug B.: Yeah, I mean you ha you have you know, last season you had you had the goofball. And this season that y Gabriela: . Doug B.: he's kept his goofball-ness, right, with his crazy comments that he says about Louisa, but he's also like being a responsible police officer. And it it actually had me thinking, last week is like maybe we wait a minute, why did Louisa and Mark not end up together? Because last season, yeah, totally get it, he was a crazy man. But this you know, now maybe we're seeing the post break up Mark of how he really is. So I thought, well, maybe maybe they'll end up together. Who knows? Chesla Wechsler: Hmm Now there's a controversial position. Doug B.: But but he has definitely grown on me and I you know, I very much like him and appreciate him now. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Yeah. I was pleased that Bert had a little bit bigger role in this particular episode. I mean, he does the like the teasing thing, and he certainly is objecting at that scene, like, Cah, come on, Doc, you know, I've got a fear of snakes and and then you see him at the end, which I thought was a hilarious ending where he gets pranked himself. do you think you think that was that was Martin's revenge, but do you do you kinda think that that was Martin Sort of accepting the acceptance? Mel, what do you think of that? Mel: I do. I I think that's exactly what that was. He realized after Louisa talked to him that that's what Bert was trying to do. Maybe you know, may have gone about it in not a great way, but that it was trying to show acceptance. And so he was accepting that acceptance in the language that they were using, which was pranking. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Yeah. Gabriela,, you were definitely nodding. Gabriela: Yeah, I think it's like definitely the final scene with the snake was definitely Martin Acknowledging that their prank on him was their way of like embracing him and accepting him flaws and all and Yeah, the little revenge was like an understanding of that and like that he accepts them too, I think. And yeah, I think Port Wenn is like the only place he's ever felt like, like people have, the only place people have ever showed him any kind of acceptance. So it makes sense that he's not used to that. And then their form of showing that is also like weird. So of course he takes offense to that. But once he understands it, cause Louisa explained it to him, he's like, okay. Like I can get down with this, like, Chesla Wechsler: Do you think I mean I what I think I heard you say was that Port Wenn is where he's always been accepted? Or did I hear that wrong? Gabriela: I said, think Portwenn is the only place he's ever been where people have accepted him. And where, yeah, and I think he's starting to like feel that. Yeah, I don't remember what else they said. Chesla Wechsler: I wonder about that because I got the sense w you know, when he was a kid he got teased unmercifully, right, by by Glendon, it sounds like. And he was just this sad kid that was seemingly teased there. I was thinking that he probably was accepted in Boston when he was able to be this super duper sur surgeon. But he lost that acceptance when he couldn't do surgery anymore and at least he had sort of a a self inflicted isolation like I I I can't be here anymore I 'cause I can't do surgery. Like he could have been a GP there, theoretically, but he chose to go to Port Wenn. Seemed to me like a running away kind of thing. Now you're right. I mean he runs away to a place that maybe he felt good about. But it the way they portray it, it just didn't seem like he had a gr a really good childhood there. It who knows? Maybe we'll find out more when Robert comes back. Which is confirmed. Right? So what do you think that's gonna be like, Mel? W we got Robert coming back, but he's coming back alone. Mel: yeah. I think that should be interesting. I mean, I personally kind of want to see Vanessa again. I liked I like Vanessa. but I do think it's going to force Martin and Robert to have that conversation that Martin wanted to have the last time he was in town that he's couldn't and wouldn't have. And I have a feeling he may be coming back as a almost like a I I I don't want to say make amends. I I'm thinking of it more in a sense of like a like a step program type thing where especially if he had a gambling addiction where he's coming back to maybe make peace with the town, with his sister, with his son, and he has to do that on his own. Chesla Wechsler: I I like the idea of a twelve step program. I I I guess in the interview, Gabriela,, didn't they say something about like there's problems at home? Gabriela: Yeah, I think Josh Charles Chesla Wechsler: Something like that. Gabriela: mentioned something that like there's, he might be having like issues at home, so he's coming alone. But I'm also interested on why he's coming to begin with because we heard from this episode that Aunt Sarah paid off her house. And so. Chesla Wechsler: Mm-hmm. Gabriela: there's no real reason for him to really come besides like to see Martin or Sarah. But yeah, I think that'll be interesting. mean. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. What do you think about Robert Best coming back, Doug? Doug B.: I'd love to see him. Like get the dynamic between the two Chesla Wechsler: he can hear me. Could you hear me? Doug B.: doctors going. Chesla Wechsler: You thought they worked well together when they were dealing with Mark, right? Doug B.: Yeah, when they were operating on Mark, he was the the doctors were at their very best professionally and personally. Be good to see Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Doug B.: that again. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah, yeah, I I would like that. I loved Old Man Milton. Was his name Milton? The guy with the adult diapers? He was hilarious. Collins? Old man Collins. Gabriela: Collins. Doug B.: Ha ha ha ha. Chesla Wechsler: my god. That guy was so funny. I just I loved him. man. Did what you th Yeah. Gabriela: Yeah, he's my favorite background character. Chesla Wechsler: Has he been in many other things? 'Cause I guess he was showing people Aunt Sarah's house or something? I'm trying to remember how many times we've seen him. Gabriela: We've seen him a couple of times. I think the first time we've seen him was in the baseball episode. a few times later in some episodes. But yeah, he's one of my favorites. He's so funny. Chesla Wechsler: Just love you know, puts his money for his diapers on the on the counter, but there's single women in town, he doesn't want them to think he's you know, gotta wear adult diapers. Not that not that there's anything wrong with that. Hey, what what the heck was up with Eden? With the first of all, the scene in bed was as awkward as we thought, right? And then what's up with red light therapy when you're fully clothed? I mean, did you see that? She's that she had all that red light stuff shining on her. I mean, I thought that had to touch your skin, doesn't it? Mel: Mm-hmm. Gabriela: I have no clue. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. I thought that red light stuff also helps you grow hair and like what is she trying to do? Mel: I just I mean, I couldn't figure out what she was trying to do either, but I I do think sometimes with these quirky things with her, they're just kind of trying to show her like slightly awkwardness or quirkiness. Because for all we know that that that's not meant to be used that way. She's just doing it that way. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah, true. And she is unusual, right? I Doug B.: right. Mel: Yeah. Yeah. Chesla Wechsler: I I still wonder about Gabriela: I love her. Chesla Wechsler: I didn't I didn't have any problem with her until this episode. Because she seemed like, you know, she knew she she liked Martin. She wanted to be in a relationship with him. She feels like she can help him with the phobia and and that she's right for him. That's what she thinks, right? She may not be getting all the same signals from him, but but I tell ya, the She's got her own cutlery, she's got a switchblade, and she thinks teenagers getting massacred at a summer camp is funny. Still wondering about that. last thing to talk about. Al and Elaine. So in the first episode of this season, it we were talking about how it seemed like maybe Elaine was kind of on the fence about going to New York with Al, but now she seems pretty Pretty definite. Don't you agree? Like Mel, you're you're nodding. I mean, to talk about getting money and stuff. Go ahead. Mel: Yeah, I it seems like maybe she's just now s decided that she is gonna go to New York with him. It seemed like it was something that they had already decided they were a f it was a foregone conclusion that that that was something they were gonna do. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Gabriela,, what do you think? What do you think the odds are that they go? Gabriela: I think they'll go, but Elaine will come back some reason. Chesla Wechsler: Okay. Gabriela: Yeah, I don't know why I feel that way, but I feel like they just can't take Elaine from Port Wenn. Yeah, and I'm like wondering about like their living situation. She said she would be like in his dorm. And I'm like, that's so awkward. Because I do know people who have done that had their partner in the dorm with them. I'm like, there's like three other people in there, too. So, yeah, Mel: god. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Gabriela: that's awkward. I just think Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Gabriela: she doesn't really have anything to do there. Like she can. Yeah, opportunities for acting, but she also doesn't have like the money for it and New York's expensive. And yeah, I don't know. We'll see. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Yeah, and I don't see like Al necessarily going to New York with a with a wad of cash, right? I mean it's not like Bert's gonna be able to send him off with some nest egg and he's he hasn't really been holding a job that might possibly really have padded his bank account in a big way. He's young, right? Mel: Well, she I guess I didn't that is a good point, Gabriela. I didn't think about her coming back, though now that you mentioned it, I could kind of see it, especially if she's cooped up in a dorm with him. I could see her be saying, Okay, this is not working. I'm going back to Port Wenn and I will see you on your breaks. Not necessarily breaking up with him, but just I can't say New York. But at the same time, I was thinking she does have, you know, she does have a licensed skill now. She she does have that phlebotomy license. And How you know how the transfer of that from state to state works, I don't know. But theoretically she could do that while he's you know, she could be the one working while he's in school. And whether that, you know, whether she Whether that's enough for her to, you know, get an apartment in New York, probably not, but at least it would give her something to do during the day, in addition to, you know, whatever acting she wants to do. And it would give them some money. Gabriela: That would be interesting Chesla Wechsler: But boy would Gabriela: If Elaine were to leave and then Eden were also leave, that leaves Martin with no one to help him with the blood taking. So that would be interesting. And he still has the monitors coming every like two weeks or something. So yeah, that would Chesla Wechsler: Right, I forgot about the monitors. Gabriela: be interesting. Who's gonna. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah, well. Gabriela: yeah. Chesla Wechsler: I have to admit that I liked Louisa in this episode probably more than I've liked her the whole show. Because she I liked her in Doug B.: Why is that? Chesla Wechsler: the wood the woods in particular. You know, she just seemed very calming and settled and and not scattered. and I liked her in the cabin even when she was having her emotional crisis. I thought her emotional crisis was very realistic It wasn't she wasn't as flighty and scattered as I've seen her in some in some other episodes. What'd you guys think, Doug? Doug B.: I really liked Louisa but I've always liked her. So I mean in this episode she was very endearing because she kind of represented the town in the woods and also, you know, very cutesy in the cabin with her her meltdown. So but, you know, she's a she's a fan fav she's a a a show favorite of mine. So she she'd be very hard for her to do wrong in my eyes. Chesla Wechsler: Aha! Okay. Gabriela,, you had a comment? Gabriela: Yeah, pretty much the same as Doug. Like, I'm a Louisa Defender to the end. I don't know, I just love her. She's like, even her flightiness and quirkiness sometimes. just love her. She's like, she's very sunshine and it's just very contrast to Martin's. gloominess. And I think they balance each other out. that's, I think that's why they work so well. But Louisa as a character, just, I always feel for her. Like in the last episode, she was very lonely. in this episode, she makes a comment when Mark's like, we're all together. This is so great. And she's like, yeah, it is pretty nice. While looking at Martin, I'm like, aw, she misses having people around. but yeah, I love her. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Gabriela: I have nothing bad to say about her. Chesla Wechsler: Yeah. Mel, you had pointed out on YouTube that you're still not buying the pregnancy thing with Louisa. I believe you said that, didn't you? Mel: Yeah, I did. I did. And I know Gabriela, disagrees with me on this. But I felt like it kind of came out of left field. But I also felt like the decision was made at a time when she was feeling vulnerable. that sh you know, sh she had been rejected by Martin. and I also think she's at that point going back to her feeling of loneliness that she wants to love something and wants someone to love her. And she had she was with Mark and then that ended. And then she probably thought she was going to then transit go right into a relationship with Martin appeared to be developing. And then that somewhat you know imploded. And then, she's having this, this. having this crisis in the town with the plague and she's still dealing with the fallout from her Martin having his his his issue in rejecting her so suddenly she's like I'm gonna have a baby and it just that that always just kind of just kind of sat sat weirdly with me I mean I am happy to see that, you know, five months down the line that she, you know, she is, she has taken the time and the money to pursue this, which makes me think, okay, you know, after the, you know, the initial moment in the bar passed, that she maybe did do that enough reflection to say, yeah, I really do want to do this. which is why I found her I actually found her emotional meltdown kind of interesting and kind of telling too, because part of me is like, I'm wondering if maybe there is a little seed of doubt with her. And and I'm wondering if it's a seed of doubt of do I want to do this at all or do I do want to do this alone? Because those those are two different things. Chesla Wechsler: Mhm. Yeah. yeah, I I my prediction is is they don't keep going with the pregnancy thing for too long. but you know, she did do the shot pr Presumably she's gonna do the egg harvesting and then but she doesn't necessarily have to do the next step, right? So she can protect her fertility and hold off on the next decision. Gabriela: Okay. Chesla Wechsler: So anyway, I think we'll wrap it for tonight, you guys. I love having your comments.
