  where my goal is to bring you encouragement as we try to live

  SPEAKER_00: People can say a lot of things without ever speaking words,

  SPEAKER_00: because our body language speaks volumes.

  SPEAKER_00: In the next five minutes,

  I'm going to give you four ways to clearly reflect God in your
• 0:22
  life so those around
• 0:23
  SPEAKER_00: you can see Him in you.

  SPEAKER_00: I had a doctor's appointment last week and right before I left,
• 0:29
  SPEAKER_00: the nurse reminded me,
• 0:31
  don't forget to go to the lab on your way out so we can draw
• 0:34
  those blood tests.
• 0:37
  SPEAKER_00: I prefer keeping all my blood inside my body.
• 0:41
  SPEAKER_00: I know no one really enjoys doing it, but I really don't like it.

  SPEAKER_00: So I'm sitting there and she gets everything ready to go.

  I put my arm up on the table and I just sort of slowly turned
• 0:53
  my head away.
• 0:53
  SPEAKER_00: I started looking at the paintings on the wall.

  I was trying to cover for the fact that I don't want to be
• 0:58
  grossed out by seeing my own blood.

  SPEAKER_00: She said, you don't like having this done, do you?

  SPEAKER_00: I thought I was hiding it pretty well.

  SPEAKER_00: She smiled when she told me how my body language had given me away.

  I wasn't even aware that I was being so obvious about how much
• 1:15
  I hated doing it.
• 1:17
  SPEAKER_00: And I did it all without saying a word.
• 1:20
  SPEAKER_00: So it got me to thinking, what's our body language telling others today?
• 1:26
  Do others see a smile that gives them a glimpse into the joy we
• 1:29
  have in Jesus?
• 1:32
  SPEAKER_00: Are we walking around with a scowl on our face?
• 1:35
  SPEAKER_00: Are we rolling our eyes at our co-workers?
• 1:38
  SPEAKER_00: Or are we being snippy with the clerk at the store?
• 1:41
  SPEAKER_00: I mean, really, what are other people seeing in us every day?
• 1:46
  We always want our countenance and the way we carry ourselves
• 1:49
  to reflect Christ.
• 1:52
  SPEAKER_00: So as we navigate our way through this crazy world,
• 1:55
  Here are four ways to ensure the vibe that we're giving off
• 1:58
  reflects our Savior.

  SPEAKER_00: All four of these come straight from the Bible.

  SPEAKER_00: Number one, display God's attributes.
• 2:08
  SPEAKER_00: The fruits of the Spirit seem to be in short supply in the world today.
• 2:12
  SPEAKER_00: So let's display the characteristics found in Galatians 5.
• 2:16
  SPEAKER_00: Can you name all eight fruits of the Spirit?
• 2:18
  SPEAKER_00: Here we go.
• 2:19
  SPEAKER_00: Love, joy, peace, patience,
• 2:24
  SPEAKER_00: self-control, kindness, goodness, faithfulness.
• 2:30
  If we're practicing all eight,
• 2:31
  people are going to see that we're different than the world.
• 2:35
  Number two,
• 2:36
  we reflect our savior when we maintain faith in difficult
• 2:40
  times.
• 2:42
  SPEAKER_00: Non-believers are always watching how we handle difficult situations.
• 2:47
  Some people think if God were loving,
• 2:49
  why do bad things happen to good people?
• 2:52
  What a witness to others when a believer doesn't lose their
• 2:55
  faith in the times of tragedy.
• 2:58
  SPEAKER_00: Let's strive to trust that he has a plan and is working for our good.

  SPEAKER_00: We don't even have to say anything.
• 3:05
  Others can see our commitment to Christ just by our actions
• 3:09
  during those dark times.
• 3:11
  SPEAKER_00: Number three, we reflect God in how we treat others.
• 3:16
  SPEAKER_00: What's that saying?
• 3:17
  I believe it's you can preach a better sermon with your life
• 3:20
  than with your lips.
• 3:23
  SPEAKER_00: The way we treat others is so important.
• 3:25
  SPEAKER_00: It shows the world how seriously we take our relationship with God.
• 3:30
  SPEAKER_00: We need to be caring and kind to those around us.
• 3:34
  It's important to take the time to really see those God brings
• 3:37
  into our path.
• 3:39
  SPEAKER_00: Treat them with love.
• 3:41
  SPEAKER_00: People can tell a lot by our actions.
• 3:44
  SPEAKER_00: Do we treat others with respect?
• 3:45
  SPEAKER_00: Do we talk bad about them behind their back?
• 3:50
  SPEAKER_00: We should take advantage of the opportunities to serve others,
• 3:53
  SPEAKER_00: whether it's physically or emotionally,
• 3:56
  SPEAKER_00: extending that hand of friendship.
• 3:59
  SPEAKER_00: And number four, we reflect our Lord when we show mercy.

  The world is watching how a Christian reacts when they've been
• 4:07
  wronged or treated unfairly.
• 4:09
  And as difficult as it may be,
• 4:11
  it's important to forgive,
• 4:13
  to never choose revenge.
• 4:16
  You know,
• 4:16
  bitterness and strife,
• 4:17
  they get a grip on our hearts and they cause us to sin.
• 4:22
  SPEAKER_00: God has shown us so much mercy and grace.
• 4:25
  SPEAKER_00: We need to show that same to others.
• 4:28
  SPEAKER_00: So as we wrap this up,
• 4:30
  unbelievers are always looking to see if our relationship with
• 4:33
  God is genuine or if
• 4:34
  SPEAKER_00: it's just lip service.
• 4:37
  They want to know if we act one way on Sunday and then
• 4:40
  differently through the week.
• 4:42
  SPEAKER_00: So today...
• 4:44
  Let's pay attention to how we reflect Christ to others through
• 4:47
  our body language or
• 4:48
  SPEAKER_00: just our daily interactions with people.
• 4:50
  SPEAKER_00: Because I'm going to be doing the same.
