- 0:05Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett. Hello, Big
- 0:15Speaker 1: Blue Nation.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Golly, I don't know where I am today. I'm kind
- 0:20Speaker 2: of off today, and this sounds terrible. I don't know
- 0:23Speaker 2: why it does. It's really distorted. But all right, does
- 0:26Speaker 2: that sound a little better there?
- 0:27Speaker 1: Okay? Thank you? Uh, this is Just the Cats. I
- 0:31Speaker 1: hope that's okay.
- 0:32Speaker 3: Do you have to talk like a robot the whole show? No?
- 0:34Speaker 1: I don't.
- 0:35Speaker 2: I mean, I'm just already screwed this. I don't know
- 0:38Speaker 2: what's going on. But on the actual mic, Oh is
- 0:42Speaker 2: that what I should?
- 0:43Speaker 1: Yeah? I did.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Well, that's the hit on the actual mic. I love
- 0:47Speaker 2: how we're doing on the go right now. I don't
- 0:51Speaker 2: know how else to turn it down. I'm sorry it
- 0:54Speaker 2: does okay, all right, well it's yeah.
- 0:58Speaker 1: I can't figure it out.
- 1:00Speaker 2: So I've done absolutely nothing different today. So but here
- 1:04Speaker 2: we are, so welcome to Just the Cat's. My name
- 1:06Speaker 2: is Michael Bennett. On this May twenty second. I'm a
- 1:10Speaker 2: loud talker. I cannot help it.
- 1:13Speaker 1: And whyatt's so?
- 1:14Speaker 2: My son and I went went out to dinner last
- 1:16Speaker 2: night and he kept telling Dad, you're really loud, please stop,
- 1:19Speaker 2: And I'm like Max, I've been loud all my life.
- 1:21Speaker 2: It's not changing, so well you need to learn. It's
- 1:24Speaker 2: like okay, happy birthday. But that's that's the how it went.
- 1:29Speaker 2: But you know, the good news is I changed the
- 1:32Speaker 2: light bulb. We're all set to go.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Now, you did, Hevan? Yeah, of course I did?
- 1:36Speaker 3: Or did you just move the camera?
- 1:38Speaker 1: No? I changed the light bulb.
- 1:40Speaker 3: No, show me the show me the other side, turn
- 1:43Speaker 3: your cat? All right? You did? Wow? I did?
- 1:46Speaker 1: Yeah, don't get me cracked.
- 1:47Speaker 3: Well done.
- 1:48Speaker 1: If I said I changed it, I changed it. I
- 1:51Speaker 1: didn't break the fixture.
- 1:53Speaker 3: So I did that not quick of a time.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Of course I did. Because it bugs me. I mean,
- 1:58Speaker 1: you tell me something.
- 1:59Speaker 2: It's like, okay, gonna bug me the entire show, just
- 2:02Speaker 2: like the whole start of this show is gonna bug
- 2:04Speaker 2: me the entire two hours.
- 2:05Speaker 1: I don't know why.
- 2:06Speaker 2: And now this distortion is going to kill me even more.
- 2:09Speaker 2: I don't know what's going on. But well, yeah, we'll
- 2:12Speaker 2: reset it soon as at the break. But you know,
- 2:14Speaker 2: we never have any kind of technical issues, but every
- 2:17Speaker 2: now and then we do. It's no big deal because
- 2:19Speaker 2: it doesn't upset me and I'm not gonna let it
- 2:21Speaker 2: upset me, But are you ready for a Memorial Day weekend?
- 2:25Speaker 2: I mean, you asked me if I had plans. I
- 2:27Speaker 2: do have plans. It's not going to be watching war movies.
- 2:30Speaker 2: By the way, I did that one time. I did that,
- 2:33Speaker 2: actually twice. I don't think they do it as much
- 2:36Speaker 2: as they used to. So TBS and what's the other
- 2:40Speaker 2: AMC they would show back in you know, twenty thirty
- 2:45Speaker 2: years ago, they would show nothing but war movies all
- 2:48Speaker 2: weekend long. And the reason I know that is because
- 2:51Speaker 2: when our kids were born, they had jaundice, so we
- 2:55Speaker 2: had to stay home and put them in this little
- 2:57Speaker 2: suntanning booth suitcase thing that they fit into, put light
- 3:01Speaker 2: on him so that joundice would go away. And while
- 3:04Speaker 2: we're doing that, I would watch war movies. And to
- 3:08Speaker 2: this day, my wife will not watch a single war
- 3:10Speaker 2: movie because of that. One weekend we did nothing but
- 3:13Speaker 2: watch war movies.
- 3:14Speaker 1: It was awesome.
- 3:15Speaker 2: I mean I love I love the older fifties and
- 3:18Speaker 2: sixties with John Wayne, I mean Michael Douglas or not
- 3:22Speaker 2: Kirk Douglas. I love those old ones. Now I do
- 3:26Speaker 2: love newer ones. I do love like, well, it's not
- 3:30Speaker 2: really that new is it saving Private Ryan, I think
- 3:32Speaker 2: is a phenomenal one.
- 3:33Speaker 1: I could go through the It's not good.
- 3:36Speaker 3: It's not new.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Oh yeah, it's twenty years old, isn't.
- 3:39Speaker 3: It at least?
- 3:42Speaker 1: Yeah? But I just I enjoy him.
- 3:45Speaker 3: A Forrest Gump a war movie.
- 3:48Speaker 1: No, really, not at all.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Just there's a little part of it that's the war part,
- 3:54Speaker 2: and that's when he's in Vietnam. But no, I don't
- 3:56Speaker 2: you you would? Do you consider it an Alabama foot
- 4:01Speaker 2: that's a good point. No, okay, so it's not. It's
- 4:05Speaker 2: just a movie about a guy. So no, I was,
- 4:08Speaker 2: all right, here's a bad take. I didn't really care
- 4:10Speaker 2: for Forrest com.
- 4:11Speaker 3: That's a horrible take.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Sorry, I knew you. I knew you'd say that. But
- 4:15Speaker 2: uh uh is it really okay? Well, I'm glad you
- 4:18Speaker 2: think so. No, there's the Clint Eastwood had made some
- 4:21Speaker 2: really good war movies. I mean, there's there's too many
- 4:24Speaker 2: out there that I loved. But uh, anyway, Uh, what
- 4:28Speaker 2: do you have going on this weekend? What have you
- 4:30Speaker 2: planned for yourself to do upmorrow?
- 4:32Speaker 3: The only thing I've got planned is I gotta my
- 4:35Speaker 3: dad sent out a group text. A couple of weeks
- 4:38Speaker 3: ago need some help finishing up his pole bar tomorrow.
- 4:42Speaker 3: So we're we're gonna go over there. We're gonna we
- 4:44Speaker 3: got a big group of us going over to help him.
- 4:46Speaker 3: So hopefully we can make quick work of it and
- 4:49Speaker 3: I won't have to be there all day. And then
- 4:51Speaker 3: other than that, I've got nothing going on.
- 4:53Speaker 1: You know, my house needs remodeling.
- 4:55Speaker 2: If I if I sent out a text to your
- 4:57Speaker 2: dad and his entire group, would they come over and
- 5:00Speaker 2: remodel my house in the weekend.
- 5:02Speaker 3: Probably not.
- 5:03Speaker 2: It's an amazing thing that your dad has so many
- 5:06Speaker 2: friends out there. He texts them to come over and help,
- 5:09Speaker 2: and they'll come over and help on top of it
- 5:11Speaker 2: all on a holiday weekend.
- 5:13Speaker 3: Oh, there was at least ten of them that responded
- 5:15Speaker 3: and said I'll be there. Really good. Those are good friends.
- 5:21Speaker 3: That's what happens when you're a good dude. My dad's
- 5:23Speaker 3: about as good as a dude as a cups.
- 5:25Speaker 2: And when you mean they're going to finish up a
- 5:27Speaker 2: pole bar, first of all, I don't know what a
- 5:30Speaker 2: pole barn is, and second of all, I don't know
- 5:32Speaker 2: how you finish it up.
- 5:34Speaker 3: How do you not know what a pole barn is
- 5:35Speaker 3: First of all, I don't the city those barns with
- 5:39Speaker 3: the metal on the outside of them.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Okay, that's a pole barny. Why is it called a
- 5:45Speaker 2: pole barn? And how's that different than a regular bar.
- 5:48Speaker 3: Now you're getting in the semantics that I can't answer,
- 5:50Speaker 3: So I don't know. Okay, you're gonna make me feel dumb,
- 5:53Speaker 3: and I don't want to feel So.
- 5:53Speaker 1: It's the illuminum sighting barns that are out there.
- 5:56Speaker 3: Basically, Okay, he's got a he built it pretty big
- 6:01Speaker 3: one that I mean he could live in it. It's
- 6:04Speaker 3: got a bathroom, it's got a kitchen, it's got basically
- 6:07Speaker 3: everything you need in it. Well, then about I don't know,
- 6:10Speaker 3: probably three four years ago, he decides, well, I need
- 6:13Speaker 3: another one right beside it, and I'm gonna attach them.
- 6:16Speaker 3: So he's got this huge pole barn setup, two of
- 6:19Speaker 3: them attached to each other. So he built the second one,
- 6:22Speaker 3: and it's massive, and he puts all of his work
- 6:24Speaker 3: equipment in there, like those machines and stuff. Well, then
- 6:28Speaker 3: he decided it's not big enough and he needed to
- 6:30Speaker 3: add I don't know, twelve feet on the end of it.
- 6:34Speaker 3: So he basically opened up the back of the second
- 6:37Speaker 3: pole barn and is extending it to make it bigger.
- 6:40Speaker 3: So where to finish the extension part?
- 6:45Speaker 1: Wow? And so how long will you be there? And
- 6:48Speaker 1: do you know what you're doing?
- 6:50Speaker 3: Uh? No? But I'm probably I'm probably going to be
- 6:55Speaker 3: the least skilled person there, So I imagine I will
- 6:58Speaker 3: be on clean up up duty. If there's any like
- 7:01Speaker 3: loose boards laying around or loose pieces of wood, I'll
- 7:04Speaker 3: probably pick that up. Throwing the fire pit. I don't
- 7:06Speaker 3: imagine I'll be doing too much of the screwing and hammering.
- 7:10Speaker 3: And we're getting up on the ladders for what it's worthing? Really?
- 7:14Speaker 1: Why not?
- 7:14Speaker 3: Because like I said, I'm gonna be the least skilled
- 7:16Speaker 3: person there.
- 7:18Speaker 1: But don't you know how to screw in a screw
- 7:20Speaker 1: with a drill?
- 7:21Speaker 3: I do?
- 7:22Speaker 1: But I think I could do that.
- 7:23Speaker 3: I do. But all my Dad's buddies that are coming,
- 7:25Speaker 3: they all do that on the day to day, so
- 7:27Speaker 3: they're gonna want to be get up there and do
- 7:30Speaker 3: all that stuff.
- 7:30Speaker 2: I'd be up there doing it. I'd be scared of
- 7:33Speaker 2: heights and probably need help getting down.
- 7:35Speaker 3: But okay, good, Well, like they run out of gun
- 7:41Speaker 3: like nails in their nail gun or something. I'll be
- 7:43Speaker 3: the guy probably tossing them up some more or whatever.
- 7:47Speaker 3: Just be the I'm basically just gonna be the Gopher.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Lake this weekend. No pool, no, nothing like that.
- 7:53Speaker 3: The rainal weekend.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Yeah, that's true.
- 7:55Speaker 3: It's gonna like what roast Memorial Day weekend.
- 7:59Speaker 2: That is the We're part of it. It's going to
- 8:00Speaker 2: be an ugly weekend and we can't go out and
- 8:02Speaker 2: celebrate it. So anyway, but I'm sorry for of course,
- 8:06Speaker 2: there's a lot of things happening in Louisville, I mean,
- 8:09Speaker 2: all kinds of stuff, and it's just a bummer that's
- 8:12Speaker 2: happening with with inclement weather. So I'm disappointed about that.
- 8:16Speaker 2: But hopefully we we get off Monday. We're excited about that. Yeah,
- 8:20Speaker 2: pumped so, yeah, exactly, And we won't That's the thing.
- 8:24Speaker 2: We don't do replays here at this station. Do we
- 8:26Speaker 2: even just flip it over to National and do that. Yeah,
- 8:31Speaker 2: it just to me, it doesn't make sense. I'm a
- 8:35Speaker 2: proponent of replay because you're already accustomed to listening to
- 8:42Speaker 2: this show in this time slot, So wouldn't you rather
- 8:45Speaker 2: go back and listen to one that like the will
- 8:47Speaker 2: Stein interview or something along those lines. Wouldn't you like
- 8:51Speaker 2: to hear that on a day off or something like
- 8:53Speaker 2: being best of us?
- 8:55Speaker 1: Yes, doing best of us?
- 8:58Speaker 2: And I'll take notes of which ones I feel like,
- 9:02Speaker 2: and I'll ask you, hey, do you think this was
- 9:04Speaker 2: a good one? And we'll save it as a best
- 9:07Speaker 2: of And that's probably what we should do. I just
- 9:10Speaker 2: like on Monday, we should probably replay the the what
- 9:13Speaker 2: would be a best of the will Stein Interview.
- 9:17Speaker 3: Here's the deal. Nobody's going to be listening on Monday.
- 9:21Speaker 1: You don't know that.
- 9:24Speaker 2: That's true, but exactly, I don't. I don't go with
- 9:28Speaker 2: you changing your mind.
- 9:30Speaker 3: Think that anybody will be listening on Monday.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Okay, all right, Dan, Well, I tend to disagree. It
- 9:36Speaker 2: might be more people listening on Monday because they're off.
- 9:39Speaker 2: So okay, well I'll go your route. But whatever, whatever
- 9:44Speaker 2: Justin Kalin wants to do is the route we're going
- 9:46Speaker 2: to go. So yeah, there we go. Yeah I'm glad,
- 9:49Speaker 2: are you okay? You just seem kind of down today?
- 9:52Speaker 3: No, I'm good. I had a donuts. I'm crashing a
- 9:54Speaker 3: little bit.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Oh that the issue?
- 9:58Speaker 3: So I'm really I eat like a baby. I don't
- 10:01Speaker 3: know if you know this, but a lot of people
- 10:03Speaker 3: in my life do. I eat like such a baby.
- 10:06Speaker 3: I cannot eat a big meal. If I go to
- 10:08Speaker 3: a fast food restaurant, odds are I'm not finishing my
- 10:11Speaker 3: whole meal. As sad as that is, I'm not finishing it.
- 10:14Speaker 3: So I eat that donut this morning and I immediately
- 10:17Speaker 3: just got so full, and my mind goes to, man,
- 10:21Speaker 3: I'm ready for a nap.
- 10:24Speaker 2: Great, So two hours all you're gonna be thinking about
- 10:27Speaker 2: is I'm ready for a freaking nap and I'm gonna
- 10:30Speaker 2: be sitting here talking with no energy.
- 10:32Speaker 3: Good news for you, Michael Business. Yes, I've got my sodi.
- 10:37Speaker 3: Oh oh, we're good to go.
- 10:39Speaker 2: All right, Well, just go get that hat that says
- 10:42Speaker 2: good again, because you know right now you're not good
- 10:44Speaker 2: and maybe if you put the good hat on you
- 10:46Speaker 2: would become good. Man.
- 10:47Speaker 3: I missed an opportunity yesterday when I went to the
- 10:49Speaker 3: other studio.
- 10:51Speaker 1: Wow.
- 10:51Speaker 3: So so every day when I walk in, my boss
- 10:54Speaker 3: is like, how are you? And I should have just
- 10:58Speaker 3: pointed to my hat yesterday Exactly, I told you what
- 11:01Speaker 3: to do. Didn't do it?
- 11:03Speaker 1: You didn't exactly. I taught you that and you don't.
- 11:07Speaker 1: You don't. You don't ever listen to me. You don't.
- 11:09Speaker 2: You just want to laugh and think, Oh what a
- 11:11Speaker 2: goofbin it is. That's all you want to do. But anyway,
- 11:14Speaker 2: if you eat like a baby, didn't have these guys
- 11:17Speaker 2: like Joey Chip Chip Chestnut, whatever his name is, that's it.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Joey Chestnut. Yeah, eat all the hot dogs they do.
- 11:25Speaker 2: I have no idea. I mean, he got arrested. No,
- 11:30Speaker 2: he's on probation, but he got arrested. He just slapped
- 11:33Speaker 2: a guy at a bar who hasn't done He just
- 11:36Speaker 2: slapped the guy at a bar who hasn't done that.
- 11:39Speaker 2: And the funny me right here, I've never done. Have
- 11:41Speaker 2: you slapped a guy in a bar? Were you arrested?
- 11:44Speaker 3: I don't think so, but maybe okay, I wouldn't.
- 11:48Speaker 1: I thought.
- 11:48Speaker 2: The funny part is he said he claimed he didn't
- 11:51Speaker 2: remember slapping the guy. Can you be so intoxicated that
- 11:55Speaker 2: you forget what you're doing, like slapping a guy?
- 11:59Speaker 1: Can you really? Okay?
- 12:01Speaker 3: On about twenty first birthday, my dad said he thought
- 12:04Speaker 3: I was bringing home twins. I don't remember anything about
- 12:06Speaker 3: the twins, So yes, you can forget stuff like.
- 12:09Speaker 1: That bringing home twins.
- 12:11Speaker 3: Yeah, he said I was flirting with these two twins
- 12:14Speaker 3: at the bar, and I don't remember anything about him.
- 12:18Speaker 1: Wow, okay, I respect right there, man.
- 12:21Speaker 3: I mean the Joey Chestnut things. Interesting. So I mentioned
- 12:24Speaker 3: on my show yesterday the guy was probably being inappropriate.
- 12:29Speaker 3: He probably, I mean, Joey Chestnut smashes hot dogs. So
- 12:33Speaker 3: there's some low hanging fruit in terms of jokes to
- 12:35Speaker 3: be made there towards him. And maybe the guy just
- 12:38Speaker 3: made a joke towards.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Him, but it's just a joke.
- 12:41Speaker 2: I'm sure the guy was not being means well, I
- 12:44Speaker 2: don't know, and maybe he was.
- 12:46Speaker 3: You never know what he said. He could have brought
- 12:47Speaker 3: up something about wieners, and Joey Chestnut was incredibly offended
- 12:52Speaker 3: and just slapped the hell out of him.
- 12:54Speaker 2: You had to pronounce it that way, But okay, well
- 12:57Speaker 2: you want me to pronoun hot dog hot dog? It's
- 13:03Speaker 2: a hot dog. Nobody calls it wieners anymore.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Do you really?
- 13:10Speaker 2: I bet there's like less than two percent that refer
- 13:12Speaker 2: to hot dogs as wieners.
- 13:14Speaker 3: I'd say it's probably closer to five, would you really?
- 13:18Speaker 3: I mean thinkt there?
- 13:20Speaker 2: I mean, that's that's something I would love to know
- 13:23Speaker 2: the history, because I understand the wiener came from a
- 13:28Speaker 2: German uh word, and that's what it was from.
- 13:31Speaker 1: But how did they get from wiener to hot dog?
- 13:35Speaker 3: Great question?
- 13:36Speaker 2: If anybody that's you know, that's another way. Anytime I
- 13:40Speaker 2: hear you say it's a great question, that means I
- 13:42Speaker 2: don't know. That's exactly what that means. That's exactly what yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 13:46Speaker 2: So I appreciate you admitting that, but I would love
- 13:48Speaker 2: to know that. But that whole story was kind of crazy.
- 13:50Speaker 2: Course he's they're allowing him to as part of this
- 13:54Speaker 2: probation travel up to Boston because it's one hundred and
- 13:59Speaker 2: eighty days that he's a probation, so he'll be able
- 14:01Speaker 2: to go up there and do his July fourth competition
- 14:03Speaker 2: up there.
- 14:04Speaker 3: That's New York.
- 14:06Speaker 2: It's a New York. I thought it was Boston. Oh okay,
- 14:09Speaker 2: I was thinking every New Yorker. I guess how much
- 14:14Speaker 2: I care?
- 14:16Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 14:16Speaker 2: How many New Yorkers are listening to this show? Zero
- 14:20Speaker 2: you think? So do we really?
- 14:24Speaker 1: Okay?
- 14:24Speaker 2: Well, if somebody is listening from New York, uh, please
- 14:28Speaker 2: either text me or or DM me on social media.
- 14:31Speaker 2: So you can just let me know you're a New Yorker.
- 14:33Speaker 2: By the way, the mic sounds great, it does. I
- 14:37Speaker 2: want did you do something I haven't touched the thing
- 14:40Speaker 2: I promise you. Okay, good, Well, I'm glad it does so. Uh,
- 14:46Speaker 2: but the person talking into it is not normal.
- 14:49Speaker 4: Uh.
- 14:50Speaker 1: I think the big news of.
- 14:51Speaker 2: The day is the announcement yesterday that Eli Cappoluto said, Uh,
- 14:56Speaker 2: the new leader of the UK Athletics department is going
- 15:00Speaker 2: to be not only the AD but also the CEO
- 15:04Speaker 2: of Champions Blue. And of course you know we all
- 15:07Speaker 2: know Champions Blue is the holding company that the department
- 15:12Speaker 2: moved to last year to give itself more flexibility and
- 15:16Speaker 2: ability to generate revenue.
- 15:19Speaker 4: Uh.
- 15:22Speaker 2: I go both ways as far as how I feel
- 15:27Speaker 2: about this. At times I think, man, this is a
- 15:31Speaker 2: great idea. Other times I think this is way too much.
- 15:36Speaker 2: But let's let's let's let's run through it. The biggest
- 15:39Speaker 2: advantage is that college athletics is going to be more
- 15:42Speaker 2: and more a business driven because of the nil revenue sharing,
- 15:46Speaker 2: media rise stone or fundraising facility development, you know, all
- 15:50Speaker 2: of that stuff. You k clearly believes the next leader
- 15:54Speaker 2: needs to function more like a professional sports executive. That's
- 15:58Speaker 2: the part I like than a traditional athletic director. This
- 16:03Speaker 2: is the entire purpose behind it. Justin and combining both
- 16:07Speaker 2: roles because it makes one person controls could help because
- 16:13Speaker 2: it could the one person controls both athletics and fundraising
- 16:17Speaker 2: business strategy instead of two power sentarios that potentially could
- 16:22Speaker 2: compete against each other. That could be a huge issue.
- 16:26Speaker 2: So you have it under one person. Guess what, you
- 16:28Speaker 2: don't have that issue. The decision making on the NL
- 16:33Speaker 2: side in revenue sharing situation could be decided a lot
- 16:38Speaker 2: faster because it's one person. Major donors often prefer dealing
- 16:43Speaker 2: with one central decision maker. That's a positive, and UK
- 16:47Speaker 2: can align football, basketball, sponsorships, entertainment, district development and fundraising
- 16:53Speaker 2: under one vision. Those are the positives. Now what are
- 16:57Speaker 2: the risks? Do you have any You're already chicking your head.
- 17:01Speaker 4: No.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Why.
- 17:02Speaker 3: I just think this is entirely too much power for
- 17:05Speaker 3: one person, and not only exactly not only power, but
- 17:11Speaker 3: they're acting like being an ad isn't hard enough on
- 17:15Speaker 3: its own. Being an athletic director has got to be
- 17:18Speaker 3: one of the toughest jobs in the entire country. I mean,
- 17:21Speaker 3: you're dealing with scheduling, you're dealing with potential conflicts with weather,
- 17:26Speaker 3: You're I mean, there's all this stuff that goes into
- 17:29Speaker 3: being an athletic director, so it's not hard enough. Let's
- 17:34Speaker 3: go ahead and add one more thing onto their plate
- 17:36Speaker 3: and they can worry about this club blue as well.
- 17:39Speaker 3: I just think it's way too much for one person.
- 17:42Speaker 2: And see, that is the biggest concern that I have.
- 17:45Speaker 2: You just stole my complete thunder, and I'm okay with that.
- 17:48Speaker 2: I'm glad you said that, because you're exactly right. Having
- 17:51Speaker 2: one person, having one person having both operational and fundraising
- 17:55Speaker 2: authority creates enormous power concentration, and that is a gigantic concern.
- 18:03Speaker 2: A CEO Salad could prioritize revenue sports over all the
- 18:08Speaker 2: other minor sports too. That's the other big concern, because
- 18:12Speaker 2: of course they are. It's all about driving money, fundraising
- 18:17Speaker 2: and making certain that your revenue creating sports i e.
- 18:22Speaker 2: Basketball and football are getting the money that they really need,
- 18:27Speaker 2: So the priority could be those sports and not the
- 18:30Speaker 2: minorities sports. So traditional AFTHLECT directors are usually relationship builders
- 18:38Speaker 2: inside the university, while CEOs often operate more aggressively and
- 18:42Speaker 2: independently too. So it's gonna be interesting to see if
- 18:45Speaker 2: Eli Cappoluto can control this person, or not necessarily control them,
- 18:52Speaker 2: but at least lead them, because you know they they
- 18:57Speaker 2: have to be a part of the university. And if
- 19:00Speaker 2: there are more of a CEO type that is a
- 19:04Speaker 2: control freak, they might not fall.
- 19:06Speaker 1: The regular.
- 19:09Speaker 2: Politics as I hate to say, of a university. But
- 19:13Speaker 2: there is concern nationally that structures like this pushed college
- 19:17Speaker 2: athletics further away from traditional college model and closer to
- 19:22Speaker 2: professional sports.
- 19:23Speaker 1: That could be good, that could be bad.
- 19:26Speaker 2: So I mean for UK specifically, it probably makes since
- 19:32Speaker 2: strategically because Kentucky basketball and football already operate like major
- 19:36Speaker 2: business brands.
- 19:37Speaker 3: Anyway, here's the one other issue have Eli Cappaluto is
- 19:44Speaker 3: It hasn't been formally announced, but I think we all
- 19:47Speaker 3: assume he's on his way out too right. I don't
- 19:49Speaker 3: think to see him right behind Mitch Barnhart. Why is
- 19:55Speaker 3: he getting to make this decision?
- 19:59Speaker 2: See that I've argued that, you know, when all this
- 20:05Speaker 2: came up, he should not be I don't think he's
- 20:08Speaker 2: in his eighties yet, But really, really what should have
- 20:12Speaker 2: happened is Eli Kappaloutu should have stepped down, brought in
- 20:16Speaker 2: a brand new president. The president should have been the
- 20:20Speaker 2: new president should have hired the new AD slash CEO
- 20:25Speaker 2: of of the the Champions Blue and then you go
- 20:33Speaker 2: from there. This is going so backwards it's not even
- 20:36Speaker 2: funny exactly, and that's what's so disappointing. But you know,
- 20:41Speaker 2: going back to this, you know, projects like the like this,
- 20:45Speaker 2: hiring a new AD but also hiring a new AD
- 20:49Speaker 2: slash CEO project like the Kroger Field Entertainment District require
- 20:54Speaker 2: business leadership as much as athletic leadership.
- 20:57Speaker 1: So this is unique what they're doing.
- 21:00Speaker 2: And I firmly believe the successful failure will mostly depend
- 21:05Speaker 2: on who they hire. And there haven't been any names
- 21:09Speaker 2: out there that they've said at all in the past.
- 21:12Speaker 1: What two or three weeks.
- 21:13Speaker 2: And if UK land someone who understands both fundraising and
- 21:17Speaker 2: athletic culture, it could be a major advantage for UK.
- 21:21Speaker 2: I mean, if they don't, it could be a flop.
- 21:23Speaker 2: It's is done in June, right exactly, and they keep
- 21:27Speaker 2: saying they're going to hire somebody before the end of June,
- 21:31Speaker 2: so well exactly, and if they hire someone who feels
- 21:36Speaker 2: too corporate or disconnected from coaches, alumni, and fans.
- 21:39Speaker 1: It could create tension very quickly.
- 21:43Speaker 3: Well, I mean imagine going through the interview process and
- 21:46Speaker 3: you're telling potential candidates, hey, not only are you gonna
- 21:49Speaker 3: be RD, but you're gonna also be in charge of
- 21:52Speaker 3: all this stuff as well. Well, I don't want that.
- 21:56Speaker 2: Yeah, it may be do I mean there might be
- 22:02Speaker 2: some sort of incentive program if they control that as well.
- 22:06Speaker 2: I mean, who knows, Maybe it's gonna be a much
- 22:08Speaker 2: bigger salary since he's going to be a CEO and
- 22:11Speaker 2: an athletic director.
- 22:12Speaker 1: I just don't know.
- 22:14Speaker 2: And it better be somebody that's pretty stinking experience if
- 22:17Speaker 2: they're not experienced in both of those, because this is
- 22:20Speaker 2: an unusual hire. It can't be just a person that's
- 22:23Speaker 2: been an athletic director for many years. They have to
- 22:26Speaker 2: have some just like I said, they've got to have
- 22:28Speaker 2: some sort of business savvy as well.
- 22:31Speaker 3: And although of a sudden, you're putting those candidates in
- 22:33Speaker 3: a box and how many how many are even going
- 22:36Speaker 3: to be eligible for that job?
- 22:39Speaker 2: You know, I don't think there are many out there
- 22:40Speaker 2: that unless they get them from like a an NBA
- 22:45Speaker 2: or an NFL type situation, and it's a GM for
- 22:48Speaker 2: one of those those teams, then they have a little
- 22:52Speaker 2: bit of athletic experience as well as the financial side
- 22:55Speaker 2: of running a business.
- 22:56Speaker 3: But so at that point that those guys have only
- 22:59Speaker 3: dealt with one team, one sport, right moreas you're gonna
- 23:04Speaker 3: have to come into Kentucky, you have to deal with
- 23:06Speaker 3: what twenty five.
- 23:07Speaker 2: Multiple sports exactly, multiple sports. This is a this is
- 23:11Speaker 2: an unusual move. I mean, it could it could really,
- 23:15Speaker 2: it could succeed, or it could absolutely blow up in
- 23:17Speaker 2: the UK's face. And I hate to be the guinea
- 23:19Speaker 2: pig for this, so I'm it's a concern. So we
- 23:25Speaker 2: got to take a break. I've gone way over and
- 23:26Speaker 2: I apologize about that, but uh, five O two three
- 23:29Speaker 2: four fourteen fifty, if you want to call in five
- 23:31Speaker 2: O two four one four fourteen fifty, if you want
- 23:34Speaker 2: to text in on the Whisky Thief text line, I'm sorry,
- 23:37Speaker 2: but I'm going to reconnect just to let you know,
- 23:41Speaker 2: so we'll figure it out. And you're okay with it.
- 23:44Speaker 2: You don't think I know to Okay, Okay, I'm good,
- 23:47Speaker 2: all right, perfect, all right, Well, come join us. I
- 23:50Speaker 2: look forward to your text messages and stay right there.
- 23:53Speaker 2: We got a lot more just cats coming right now.
- 24:00Speaker 4: I can't.
- 24:42Speaker 2: And nobody heard what you just said, which which I love.
- 24:46Speaker 2: I mean, but you need to let people hear that,
- 24:49Speaker 2: hear you say that kind of stuff because it just
- 24:51Speaker 2: makes me laugh. So when Michael's on remote, I always
- 24:55Speaker 2: have to tell him what the song is because he
- 24:56Speaker 2: can never hear what the song is coming back. So
- 24:59Speaker 2: for this one, I just told him it was Bronsky
- 25:02Speaker 2: beat small town boy. Told him I had no idea,
- 25:05Speaker 2: never heard it. I'm just going random today. Turns out
- 25:08Speaker 2: it was a bad selection. Oh the terrible selection. I
- 25:12Speaker 2: don't listen. And just the fact that you said, by
- 25:14Speaker 2: the way, it's a terrible song, I mean, and nobody
- 25:18Speaker 2: heard it. And of course I'm coming back in and
- 25:20Speaker 2: then die and laughing. But I've really mailed it in
- 25:23Speaker 2: with the music this week. Well you now, why would
- 25:27Speaker 2: you do that? Come on, I've sent you some pretty
- 25:29Speaker 2: good song. I like the song I sent in today,
- 25:31Speaker 2: so let's come. Yeah, I know it's coming, But I
- 25:34Speaker 2: guess the best small town was probably John Mellencamp. That's
- 25:38Speaker 2: the best small town song, go j D. Shelburn. But
- 25:42Speaker 2: oh excuse me, Yes, we would, We certainly should go JD.
- 25:46Speaker 1: Shelburn, But man, that guy's living a life.
- 25:49Speaker 2: Just to let you know one person, well, Zach tweet
- 25:52Speaker 2: texted in five or two, four four, fourteen fifty he said,
- 25:56Speaker 2: the new hot dog name nowadays is a g lizzy.
- 25:59Speaker 3: Yeah, horrible.
- 26:01Speaker 2: Why that the name of it? Do they really use
- 26:06Speaker 2: that term gl all the youths? Yeah?
- 26:10Speaker 1: Where does that come from? Why?
- 26:13Speaker 3: And if you God forbid, you have a container that
- 26:15Speaker 3: you keep them in that's called the glazonator. No way?
- 26:20Speaker 2: Okay? Yeah, I uh okay, that's interesting. Yeah, I I
- 26:25Speaker 2: don't think I care for that one either. Josh texted
- 26:29Speaker 2: in morning. Uh justsic Katz rest in peace to Kyle Busch. Boy,
- 26:32Speaker 2: that is that was one of the topics I want
- 26:34Speaker 2: to talk about in just a little bit. But uh uh,
- 26:36Speaker 2: this generation of NASCAR's Kobe death moment. This rain is asked,
- 26:41Speaker 2: I've got a vinted show to do on the waterfront
- 26:45Speaker 2: tomorrow and car show called Beatersville in the Warehouse district
- 26:50Speaker 2: in downtown Louisville on Sunday. There's a warehouse district in Louisville.
- 26:55Speaker 2: I guess so, I so you didn't know about it either.
- 26:58Speaker 3: Oh, there's so much about Louisville I don't know.
- 27:01Speaker 1: I know Nulu and that's all I know. A butcher town.
- 27:05Speaker 1: I'm with you. You know.
- 27:06Speaker 2: I'm born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, and there are
- 27:09Speaker 2: places I don't know. But okay, I didn't know there
- 27:11Speaker 2: was a warehouse Ditric Rainer, Shine, we are there, come
- 27:14Speaker 2: see us. Everybody stay safe and let's remember those who
- 27:18Speaker 2: paid the ultimate sacrice for us to complain about sports
- 27:21Speaker 2: all day.
- 27:22Speaker 1: I couldn't agree more.
- 27:23Speaker 2: And you know, as I've mentioned before, I'm named after
- 27:28Speaker 2: Mike Bennett, who was my uncle killed d DA plus eight.
- 27:32Speaker 2: So he was killed in the Battle of the Bloody Gulch,
- 27:37Speaker 2: which was featured on a Band of Brothers, which kind
- 27:40Speaker 2: of cool but not cool that he died, but I
- 27:42Speaker 2: mean it was cool that they featured that one particular
- 27:45Speaker 2: battle in Band of Brothers. Yeah, so I'm kind of
- 27:49Speaker 2: honored because I have his purple heart. I have some
- 27:52Speaker 2: pictures of him, and that's it. But yeah, I never
- 27:55Speaker 2: knew him clearly, but it's Corey Price would say I'd
- 27:59Speaker 2: probably knew him, uh friends thirty some odd years together. Yeah, exactly,
- 28:04Speaker 2: jeez Louise forty eight hand.
- 28:07Speaker 1: He said.
- 28:10Speaker 2: The character Forrest Gump was based loosely on Middle of
- 28:13Speaker 2: Honor winner Sammy Davis Junior. Really, Sammy Davis Junior had
- 28:20Speaker 2: a Medal of Honor. I had no idea. There's a
- 28:23Speaker 2: wonderful picture of him kneeling with his arms around two
- 28:26Speaker 2: beautiful grandchildren of one of the men he saved, draped
- 28:31Speaker 2: in the flag. Thanks to everyone today who honor our
- 28:35Speaker 2: glorious dead. So yeah, great text, right there. So many
- 28:38Speaker 2: people had their hair on fire over no triple crown bid. Meantime,
- 28:42Speaker 2: you're getting ready to see one of the best races
- 28:45Speaker 2: in recent years, the Stephen Foster. Have you heard about this?
- 28:48Speaker 2: Justin Oh yeah, Churchill just up the pot to two
- 28:54Speaker 2: million dollars in hopes of adding a few more participants
- 28:58Speaker 2: waiting our sovereignty. Why to Barrio Magnitude and Baiza. I mean,
- 29:05Speaker 2: that is awesome that the Stephen Foster has become. And
- 29:08Speaker 2: I know not in a lot of people really get
- 29:10Speaker 2: into the uh the whole horse racing thing, but man,
- 29:14Speaker 2: that is going to Even Nick Rausch was giddy over
- 29:17Speaker 2: it on Twitter. Oh he does, Nick Rausch, And I
- 29:23Speaker 2: need to hang out a lot more. I mean I
- 29:25Speaker 2: need to bring him with me so he can enjoy
- 29:27Speaker 2: some of the things I get to enjoy.
- 29:29Speaker 3: I don't know that he'd be able to handle you,
- 29:31Speaker 3: But also at the same time, I don't know that
- 29:34Speaker 3: you What does that mean? You know that you'd be
- 29:36Speaker 3: able to handle him?
- 29:38Speaker 1: Well?
- 29:39Speaker 3: All right?
- 29:40Speaker 2: I have so many questions after that one comment right there.
- 29:43Speaker 2: What do you mean you don't know if Nick Rousch
- 29:45Speaker 2: can handle me and I can't handle him.
- 29:48Speaker 1: You guys are both just a lot? Are we really
- 29:52Speaker 1: is a lot?
- 29:54Speaker 2: I haven't if.
- 29:56Speaker 3: He's around horse racing, Yeah, he's a lot?
- 30:00Speaker 1: Is he really?
- 30:00Speaker 2: Okay? Fair enough? We might have to see if we
- 30:03Speaker 2: can handle each other. I don't like the way that's termed.
- 30:06Speaker 2: But uh. One person said, I think Justin has checked
- 30:09Speaker 2: out for the holiday already pretty pretty much.
- 30:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 30:14Speaker 2: Oh, come on, man, don't check out yet. Come on,
- 30:15Speaker 2: let's out the energy back up?
- 30:19Speaker 1: Okay? Uh, Michael.
- 30:20Speaker 2: A girl that eats a lot of Glizzies is called
- 30:22Speaker 2: a glizzy gobbler.
- 30:24Speaker 3: Yes, I've heard that as well. Have you really? For
- 30:30Speaker 3: what it's worth?
- 30:30Speaker 2: Can and by the way, you misspelled my name, dude? Okay,
- 30:33Speaker 2: it's m I c h a e L. Michelle, Yeah,
- 30:38Speaker 2: he spelled it. M I c h E A L.
- 30:41Speaker 2: That happens a lot. I listen, I'm teasing you. Please
- 30:44Speaker 2: please don't take a don't don't take offense to it.
- 30:46Speaker 2: It's just I'm just joking back with you. So no
- 30:48Speaker 2: big deal that you misspelled my name. It won't bother
- 30:51Speaker 2: me for too long that you've misspelled my name. Uh
- 30:55Speaker 2: but uh yeah, I I need to hang out with
- 30:58Speaker 2: Nick Mark, you know. I. I would always him at
- 31:00Speaker 2: football games, basketball games, and we wouldn't hang out too
- 31:03Speaker 2: terribly much. We would just sit there and talk for
- 31:05Speaker 2: a few minutes and we move on. And then of course,
- 31:07Speaker 2: you know, when he was on the show with us
- 31:10Speaker 2: Derby week, that was.
- 31:12Speaker 1: A lot of fun.
- 31:13Speaker 2: I really had a ton of fun having TJ and
- 31:17Speaker 2: Nick two different days, and they both it was funny.
- 31:21Speaker 2: They both said they literally both said, I can stay
- 31:23Speaker 2: for a segment, and then what do you know, they
- 31:25Speaker 2: both stayed for both hours, which I thought was really
- 31:28Speaker 2: a lot of funny.
- 31:29Speaker 3: By the way, Ralsh is hosting country show to this.
- 31:34Speaker 2: Oh really interesting. So he's all of a sudden healed
- 31:39Speaker 2: that I'm just kidding. It's fine, that's three days later.
- 31:42Speaker 2: So are you trying to start something with me?
- 31:44Speaker 1: Is that what you?
- 31:46Speaker 2: Maybe we should call Nick and see, Hey Nick, well,
- 31:48Speaker 2: what the heck man you're you're hosting this show? I
- 31:51Speaker 2: think we should call him during the break. Okay, Nick,
- 31:55Speaker 2: it doesn't matter, he needs to answer and see if
- 31:58Speaker 2: he'll Let's just see if the answers of phone and
- 32:00Speaker 2: comes on for a couple of minutes. Okay, we can
- 32:02Speaker 2: promote that he's going to be on a different show.
- 32:04Speaker 2: I'm okay with that, but let's see if he does. Okay,
- 32:07Speaker 2: you will you do that?
- 32:08Speaker 1: For me?
- 32:10Speaker 2: That means no when anybody says I'll see that just
- 32:14Speaker 2: basically is a nice way of saying no, which is
- 32:17Speaker 2: a real cut. Just say you're not gonna do it.
- 32:20Speaker 2: I'm texting it right now, are you are?
- 32:22Speaker 1: No? No texting you call.
- 32:24Speaker 3: I'm not just gonna cold call somebody. This is not
- 32:27Speaker 3: who I am. I used to have to do that
- 32:29Speaker 3: when I was in college to sell football tickets. I
- 32:32Speaker 3: hated it.
- 32:33Speaker 1: For who for Indiana you sold IU football here?
- 32:38Speaker 3: Yeah? I did that for one semester where I would
- 32:41Speaker 3: just cold call people ask if they're interested in tickets?
- 32:45Speaker 2: Did you sell anybody. Indiana football team.
- 32:49Speaker 3: I think I made one sale.
- 32:51Speaker 1: At how many phone calls?
- 32:52Speaker 3: Probably six hundred. That is so sad.
- 32:57Speaker 2: And today I bet you if you made six hundred,
- 33:00Speaker 2: you'd probably get five hundred and ninety nine say yes,
- 33:03Speaker 2: which is the crazy part. All right, how much time
- 33:05Speaker 2: do we have? I don't think I have time to
- 33:06Speaker 2: go on. Yeah, okay, we're not going to be able
- 33:09Speaker 2: to do that. So when we come back. We got
- 33:11Speaker 2: some great news again yesterday for UK football. I want
- 33:15Speaker 2: to talk about the beef Steve Sarcasian is having. I mean,
- 33:19Speaker 2: he's throwing out his former conference under the bus right now,
- 33:23Speaker 2: which I think is funny because to me, it kind
- 33:25Speaker 2: of goes both ways. Dude, I don't know if I
- 33:27Speaker 2: would be saying all that he's saying. But we'll talk
- 33:30Speaker 2: about that as well. Plus we got got some baseball
- 33:32Speaker 2: news and then the Knicks played last night.
- 33:35Speaker 1: I'm glad they won.
- 33:36Speaker 2: I'm rooting for him, but you know what they did
- 33:39Speaker 2: on the broadcast, don't you justin I don't think so Okay, Yeah,
- 33:43Speaker 2: we're going to talk, Yeah you will when we talk
- 33:46Speaker 2: about it. So one of the things that really irks
- 33:48Speaker 2: me about when the Knicks or the Lakers are in
- 33:53Speaker 2: So anyway, take a break. Hour two coming up right now.
- 33:56Speaker 2: We need Nick Roush on this show. As soon as
- 33:59Speaker 2: we come back. You get him on. I'll see him in.
- 34:01Speaker 4: This is a.
- 34:14Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett. He didn't answer,
- 34:23Speaker 1: did he No? Of course not no? Okay, of course?
- 34:29Speaker 2: Did it go straight to voicemail by the way, No
- 34:32Speaker 2: it didn't. Okay, let me try. I'll try again. Yeah,
- 34:35Speaker 2: you should try again and see. But uh, all right,
- 34:38Speaker 2: Uh Fabo two three eight four fourteen fifty. You want
- 34:41Speaker 2: to call Fablo two four one four fourteen fifty. You
- 34:43Speaker 2: want to text in on the whiskey te text line. Uh,
- 34:47Speaker 2: another slow first hour of texting.
- 34:49Speaker 1: I just uh, so send me your text in there.
- 34:51Speaker 2: I'd like to hear from me as you get ready
- 34:53Speaker 2: for uh your memorial Just tell me what your Memorial
- 34:56Speaker 2: Day planes are and I'll be jealous of you. But uh,
- 34:59Speaker 2: one of the big things I want to talk about, obviously,
- 35:03Speaker 2: is UK football killing it again?
- 35:05Speaker 1: No answer? That time I went straight to boysmail, I
- 35:08Speaker 1: can't hear you.
- 35:09Speaker 3: Oh that time I went straight to boysmail?
- 35:12Speaker 1: It did? Okay. I think he's he's got his phone
- 35:16Speaker 1: turned off.
- 35:16Speaker 2: But uh, UK gets another football commit. This time it's
- 35:20Speaker 2: a three star, not a four star. I'm really disappointed
- 35:23Speaker 2: in will will Stein. I could not be more disappointed Willstein.
- 35:27Speaker 2: I don't know what's happened to his recruiting. Uh, but
- 35:30Speaker 2: a three star five to eleven running back Kelsey Gerald
- 35:34Speaker 2: out of Lake Worth, Florida. This is where it's big here.
- 35:39Speaker 1: Okay.
- 35:39Speaker 2: Now, granted, yes he's a three star, but he's a
- 35:42Speaker 2: high three star.
- 35:43Speaker 1: He so he's just under a four star. Uh.
- 35:47Speaker 2: He was looking at either going to IU Florida, Auburn,
- 35:55Speaker 2: or Kentucky and deciding on Kentucky. And now is the
- 36:00Speaker 2: seventeenth player that has committed to the UK in the
- 36:03Speaker 2: class of twenty twenty seven. I mean UK now has
- 36:06Speaker 2: five scholarship running backs on the roster. Do you realize
- 36:09Speaker 2: that that's crazy? That is crazy. UK's always for some reason,
- 36:14Speaker 2: Kentucky's always done a nice job of getting running backs.
- 36:17Speaker 2: It's just always struggled with I would say quarterbacks is
- 36:21Speaker 2: the biggest weakness Kentucky's had.
- 36:23Speaker 1: Over the years until now exactly.
- 36:27Speaker 2: And we'll see and hopefully they turn out to be
- 36:29Speaker 2: something Between Minchi and the other kid that's coming from Ohio.
- 36:35Speaker 2: But listen, everybody kind of gives me a hard time
- 36:39Speaker 2: because I never gave Will Levice that much credit. I
- 36:42Speaker 2: just think he was an Oka quarterback. I mean, first
- 36:45Speaker 2: year he was really good. Yeah, he was good. I
- 36:50Speaker 2: wouldn't say really good.
- 36:52Speaker 3: So second year, I wouldn't say really good. But the
- 36:55Speaker 3: first year, i'd say really good.
- 36:57Speaker 1: Would you really? Okay? All right, it's probably.
- 37:00Speaker 2: Been since the Brooks era, so the last quarterback that
- 37:05Speaker 2: we had that was really good. But I just I
- 37:07Speaker 2: just I just don't think so. But anyway, but I'm
- 37:10Speaker 2: happy with that. That's big news, uh for Kentucky. Uh.
- 37:14Speaker 2: Let's talk a little bit about Bengals. Bingles quarterback was
- 37:17Speaker 2: on a podcast recently. Joe Burrell said that.
- 37:22Speaker 1: He is extremely.
- 37:26Speaker 2: And I mean extremely optimistic about his team for the
- 37:30Speaker 2: this upcoming season. He stated that I think this is
- 37:36Speaker 2: the most talented roster we've had ever since I've been here.
- 37:40Speaker 2: And you know, he's been real critical about ownership and uh,
- 37:47Speaker 2: the front office not spending money. Do you think justin
- 37:51Speaker 2: because you know you're you're a fan of the Bengals too, somewhat,
- 37:55Speaker 2: come on, you are a little bit now you're just
- 37:58Speaker 2: a tad No. I know you're a Pittsburgh Steeler fan,
- 38:02Speaker 2: but I'm Steers. Huh, I'm wearing a Steelers hat today.
- 38:07Speaker 2: For crying out, oh you are, Oh you are with
- 38:09Speaker 2: Steelers hat. I was just joking. He settled down. But
- 38:12Speaker 2: do you feel like this is he over hyping this
- 38:16Speaker 2: or do you really feel like this potentially could be
- 38:20Speaker 2: one of the best Bengals teams that Joe Burrow's been
- 38:23Speaker 2: a part of.
- 38:24Speaker 3: Look, if Joe Burrows saying it, I have no reason
- 38:26Speaker 3: to not believe him. I mean, he's been You're right,
- 38:30Speaker 3: he has been very vocal in past years about the
- 38:33Speaker 3: setup of the team and how he's thinks they've needed
- 38:36Speaker 3: certain pieces that they haven't had. But I think that
- 38:39Speaker 3: with the the some of the moves they've made this offseason,
- 38:42Speaker 3: they shirt up that defense a little bit. When you
- 38:44Speaker 3: think about the Bengals, offense has never been the issue
- 38:47Speaker 3: under Joe Burrow, They've they've never had a problem with
- 38:50Speaker 3: Joe Burrow offensively leading the charge at quarterback. So unless
- 38:54Speaker 3: he's injured, unless he's injured, So you needed to just
- 38:57Speaker 3: shure up that defense because be quite fright with you,
- 39:00Speaker 3: and for lack of a better word, they've been asked.
- 39:02Speaker 3: I mean, they have not been good at all for
- 39:05Speaker 3: the last handful of years. So I think some of
- 39:07Speaker 3: the defensive moves they've made puts them in a position
- 39:10Speaker 3: to be able to play better defensively old teams to
- 39:13Speaker 3: lower scores so they don't have to go out and
- 39:16Speaker 3: score thirty forty points a game to win.
- 39:19Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly, because that was that's just not applical. They
- 39:23Speaker 2: can't succeed if they have to score that many points.
- 39:26Speaker 2: Defense was a huge disaster. And if they can get
- 39:31Speaker 2: to go on the defensive side and Joe Burrow does
- 39:33Speaker 2: his normal thing without getting injured to listen, I'm excited
- 39:36Speaker 2: about this. I hope this is as good. I don't
- 39:39Speaker 2: think he is that kind of person that puts fluff
- 39:42Speaker 2: out there.
- 39:42Speaker 1: No, he is.
- 39:43Speaker 2: He is pretty realistic and honest about where his team sits,
- 39:48Speaker 2: and he has been in the past negatively. Yeah, but
- 39:51Speaker 2: I think if he's saying this, I kind of tend
- 39:54Speaker 2: to believe what he's saying, because you know, they're doing
- 39:56Speaker 2: their summer workouts right now, and evidently he's got a
- 40:01Speaker 2: pretty good feel about it.
- 40:02Speaker 1: So I'm excited about it.
- 40:04Speaker 2: Alf the Bengals do well, we'll see exactly you hope.
- 40:09Speaker 2: I don't know why you're like that, but that's just
- 40:11Speaker 2: too bad. You can root for the Reds, but you
- 40:13Speaker 2: can't root for the Bengals.
- 40:14Speaker 3: Bengals are my team. Reds are.
- 40:17Speaker 2: It's a Cincinnati area thing. You should be a Bengals fan.
- 40:21Speaker 2: If you're a redsident. Now you're sound, I know I
- 40:24Speaker 2: am definitely. Uh. Did you see where the NFL pushes
- 40:27Speaker 2: for a major reset of its media rights deal?
- 40:29Speaker 1: No? Are you ready for this?
- 40:32Speaker 2: The league is reportedly seeking roughly fifty percent increases as
- 40:37Speaker 2: early talks began, potentially making CBS's Sunday package increasing to
- 40:43Speaker 2: more than three.
- 40:45Speaker 1: Billion dollars annually.
- 40:48Speaker 2: And you know, if it does go through, you know
- 40:51Speaker 2: who's going to pay for that, don't you us?
- 40:54Speaker 1: Exactly the fans.
- 40:57Speaker 2: And I was like, Okay, it's going to get to
- 41:00Speaker 2: a point that you know, most people, all right, how
- 41:04Speaker 2: many people can afford this to go to the games
- 41:08Speaker 2: in the NFL?
- 41:09Speaker 3: Not many? All right?
- 41:11Speaker 2: Is it gonna get to a point where the fans
- 41:13Speaker 2: can't afford to watch it either? Because you know, they're
- 41:17Speaker 2: all they're signing up Netflix, they're signing up Amazon, They're
- 41:20Speaker 2: signing up all these streaming services, and to me, it's
- 41:25Speaker 2: just going to get to a point one day where
- 41:28Speaker 2: they're just gonna say, I can't afford to even watch
- 41:30Speaker 2: it anymore? How can I be a fan?
- 41:32Speaker 3: I could see a day coming where stadiums are are
- 41:37Speaker 3: not as full as they should be for games. I
- 41:40Speaker 3: don't anticipate a time where these NFL games aren't heavily watched.
- 41:44Speaker 3: I mean, it's it's what everyone wants to do every Sunday. Well,
- 41:48Speaker 3: now we get games every freaking day of the week.
- 41:50Speaker 3: Just see the Seahawks are playing a game on every
- 41:54Speaker 3: single day except for Tuesday next this season? Are they
- 41:59Speaker 3: really play a game on six days a week? It's okay,
- 42:04Speaker 3: So what the third time in NFL history that's ever happened?
- 42:07Speaker 1: All right?
- 42:08Speaker 2: Because what the two Well, there's three unusual days. It's
- 42:12Speaker 2: not unusual to see an NFL game on Saturday, Sunday
- 42:15Speaker 2: or Monday or a Thursday game. Now now the unusual
- 42:20Speaker 2: games are Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday. They're Gooday, Okay, I don't think. Okay,
- 42:30Speaker 2: so you just told me they're playing on all seven days?
- 42:32Speaker 1: Did you?
- 42:33Speaker 3: Did you say six days?
- 42:34Speaker 2: Okay, So the only day they're not playing is a Tuesday.
- 42:39Speaker 2: Why are they playing on a Wednesday?
- 42:41Speaker 3: I'm assuming they are part of the schedule the game that's.
- 42:45Speaker 1: Paying Oh my god.
- 42:48Speaker 3: Or maybe they're playing on Black Friday after Thanksgiving to
- 42:51Speaker 3: knock out that game.
- 42:53Speaker 1: Wow, that is wild. Yeah, I uh, okay, but.
- 42:58Speaker 3: Yeah, no, I I just thinking the popularity the NFL
- 43:01Speaker 3: is not going anywhere. I mean, there's there's always gonna
- 43:04Speaker 3: be back channels to watch these games. Heck, you can
- 43:06Speaker 3: go to a restaurant. They're going to be showing every
- 43:08Speaker 3: single game. So I think the desires there to watch
- 43:12Speaker 3: the NFL, So therefore, I don't think it goes anywhere.
- 43:14Speaker 2: Okay, all right, Well, you know when we started the show,
- 43:18Speaker 2: I said, it's May twenty second, twenty twenty six. Did
- 43:22Speaker 2: you know on May twenty second, nineteen o six, the
- 43:26Speaker 2: Right Brothers got a patent for a flying machine.
- 43:30Speaker 3: Oh, just one hundred and twenty years ago.
- 43:32Speaker 1: Isn't that crazy?
- 43:33Speaker 3: Crazy?
- 43:34Speaker 2: Actually one hundred and twenty years ago, and now we
- 43:37Speaker 2: talk about flying around the world, we talk about flying
- 43:42Speaker 2: to space, going to the moon. Now we're talking about
- 43:45Speaker 2: going to Mars. Just one hundred and twenty years ago
- 43:48Speaker 2: they had just put a patent out for a not
- 43:51Speaker 2: even an airplane, a flying machine is what they called it.
- 43:54Speaker 2: I thought that was kind of crazy story.
- 43:56Speaker 3: I think about this sort of stuff all the time,
- 43:58Speaker 3: like how close we are to major, major inventions, like
- 44:02Speaker 3: the car was invented? What one hundred years ago?
- 44:06Speaker 1: Well, yeah, right there, I know?
- 44:09Speaker 2: And nowie all right, so you know, I was in
- 44:12Speaker 2: Baltimore earlier this week. I rented a hyundaiy I do
- 44:17Speaker 2: when I see a Hundai.
- 44:17Speaker 1: I love them.
- 44:18Speaker 2: I know you drive one. This one. Uh it wasn't
- 44:23Speaker 2: self driving, but you didn't have to hold onto the
- 44:25Speaker 2: steering wheel.
- 44:27Speaker 3: I don't like that.
- 44:29Speaker 2: I kind of enjoyed it. I got it took a
- 44:32Speaker 2: little now. I would keep my hand on there, but
- 44:34Speaker 2: I would loosely keep it on there. So I'm driving
- 44:37Speaker 2: down the expressway. It would turn when it needed to turn,
- 44:40Speaker 2: and it was kind of crazy.
- 44:42Speaker 3: I don't like that at all?
- 44:44Speaker 1: Do you not like it all? I don't know. I
- 44:46Speaker 1: could kind of dig heaven. I might not fly anymore.
- 44:49Speaker 2: I might just have my own car that drives me
- 44:52Speaker 2: all over the country and I don't have to worry
- 44:54Speaker 2: about you. I'm just spending whatever amount of money I'm
- 44:56Speaker 2: spending on gas and guess what, I don't have to
- 44:59Speaker 2: spend and all that money on flying.
- 45:02Speaker 3: I like driving because of the control aspect. I feel
- 45:05Speaker 3: like in that scenario you don't have all the control
- 45:08Speaker 3: and that kind of creeps me out.
- 45:10Speaker 2: Well, I mean, you know that we talked about that
- 45:12Speaker 2: Weymo thing, so you would get in a way, mo,
- 45:15Speaker 2: but you would not get okay, all right, then no way,
- 45:21Speaker 2: no way, no way MO.
- 45:24Speaker 1: Yeah, that's as good as Glizzy. So uh.
- 45:28Speaker 2: Speaking of space, Bryson Deshambo stated on a podcast this
- 45:32Speaker 2: week yeah that he doesn't believe the authenticity of the
- 45:39Speaker 2: Apollo eleven moon landing footage, while still believing humans went
- 45:44Speaker 2: to the Moon.
- 45:46Speaker 1: I don't understand that.
- 45:49Speaker 2: Wait a minute now, So so the question came up
- 45:53Speaker 2: by the podcast interviewer that did he what did he
- 45:59Speaker 2: think about astronaut Alan Shepherd? Did he really hit a
- 46:05Speaker 2: golf ball on the moon? Now, Alan Shepherd, he was
- 46:09Speaker 2: the first man in space from the United States and
- 46:14Speaker 2: he was also went to the Moon and he famously
- 46:19Speaker 2: had a video of him hitting a golf ball on
- 46:22Speaker 2: the moon. So that made it come up to Bryson
- 46:26Speaker 2: de Shambo that he thinks humans went to the moon,
- 46:30Speaker 2: but he doesn't believe the Apollo eleven moonfoot moon video
- 46:36Speaker 2: footage is real. I just don't understand how you can
- 46:41Speaker 2: believe people went to the moon, but then on the
- 46:43Speaker 2: other hand, you don't believe the video.
- 46:47Speaker 3: Zero sense to me. My question is, how are they
- 46:49Speaker 3: producing that video? Do you think they're just in a
- 46:51Speaker 3: studio acting like this whole thing actually happened in making
- 46:55Speaker 3: a silent movie.
- 46:57Speaker 1: Yes, a lot of people believe that.
- 47:02Speaker 2: I mean, my old buddy Jared Lorenzen, former quarterback at UK,
- 47:06Speaker 2: never believed that they went to the moon, and he
- 47:09Speaker 2: believes it was just recreated in some kind of video
- 47:13Speaker 2: lot that where they filmed it.
- 47:16Speaker 3: That's insane. I mean, I've never been a conspiracy theorist,
- 47:20Speaker 3: so I guess this whole mindset just doesn't It doesn't
- 47:24Speaker 3: jive with me. I just think that all this is ignorant.
- 47:27Speaker 3: People that don't believe that. In my opinion, I think
- 47:30Speaker 3: it's ignorant. But then again, I don't know for a
- 47:33Speaker 3: fact either, right, So.
- 47:36Speaker 2: I you know, the more that people say that they
- 47:39Speaker 2: don't believe it, the more I think a lot of
- 47:41Speaker 2: other people start to believe their belief.
- 47:44Speaker 1: Does that make any sense what I just said? It
- 47:46Speaker 1: does to me.
- 47:47Speaker 2: But the more that people start saying they don't believe
- 47:52Speaker 2: in these kind of videos, I think they bring in
- 47:57Speaker 2: more people that don't believe along with it.
- 48:00Speaker 3: They convince people along the way they do.
- 48:03Speaker 2: And just like I could say I believe in ghosts,
- 48:04Speaker 2: I could probably convince a lot of people. Yeah, I
- 48:06Speaker 2: believe in ghost too.
- 48:07Speaker 3: With the exception of the flat earthers, they will never
- 48:10Speaker 3: convince me. With the exception of the what the flatter
- 48:12Speaker 3: or the flat Earth? Oh no, Earth's not flat? Come on,
- 48:15Speaker 3: we all know that. But I don't pull eclipse with
- 48:19Speaker 3: the Earth flat, right, it'd be beautiful. Do people really
- 48:23Speaker 3: believe that the Earth is fathered? Still millions of people
- 48:26Speaker 3: out there?
- 48:27Speaker 2: Yeah, well they're idiots them, Okay, I mean, but we
- 48:35Speaker 2: have video and pictures of people going up on the
- 48:38Speaker 2: little weast SpaceX thing.
- 48:39Speaker 1: I mean, what are you talking about.
- 48:41Speaker 2: Did you realize Bryson's YouTube channel has nearly three million subscribers. Yeah, an,
- 48:47Speaker 2: I didn't realize it was that big.
- 48:49Speaker 3: I mean, he does a lot of fun stuff on
- 48:50Speaker 3: his YouTube, like what like, so he did the whole
- 48:54Speaker 3: thing a couple of years ago where he's got this
- 48:57Speaker 3: huge house right obviously because he's made a ton of
- 48:59Speaker 3: money in his life. But he's got all these windows
- 49:02Speaker 3: in his house. Well, he's set up he's got a
- 49:05Speaker 3: hole in his backyard. He tried to hit a ball
- 49:09Speaker 3: over his house and have it be a hole in one.
- 49:13Speaker 3: And he did this for days and days and days
- 49:16Speaker 3: until he finally did it. But he's hitting towards his
- 49:19Speaker 3: house that is covered in glass windows and trying to
- 49:23Speaker 3: get a hole in one in his backyard. So he
- 49:25Speaker 3: eventually did it. And he just does a lot of
- 49:27Speaker 3: stuff on his channel like that, Like he'll set up
- 49:31Speaker 3: a cup upstairs in his house somewhere and he'll hit
- 49:33Speaker 3: from a mat on the downstairs and try to get
- 49:36Speaker 3: the golf ball in the cup. And he just does
- 49:38Speaker 3: all this fun stuff.
- 49:40Speaker 1: I like that. Trick shops you will. I've got to
- 49:43Speaker 1: go watch it. Then.
- 49:44Speaker 2: But did you also realize that he made the comment
- 49:47Speaker 2: his income from golf and content creation are roughly equal.
- 49:53Speaker 2: I believe that that was astonishing to me. Do you really, well,
- 49:58Speaker 2: I guess it. How much money can you make from
- 50:01Speaker 2: YouTube and social media? Evidently it's quite a bit. I
- 50:04Speaker 2: have no idea.
- 50:05Speaker 3: I mean, it's all based on like time time viewed
- 50:09Speaker 3: and the time people spend on your page and stuff
- 50:12Speaker 3: like that. So I mean, I don't know that there's
- 50:14Speaker 3: even a limit of how much you could make via YouTube.
- 50:18Speaker 2: Well, the other thing he expressed was his uncertainty with golf,
- 50:21Speaker 2: he noting that Live could be ending, which we all
- 50:25Speaker 2: know it should end. I mean, come on, let's just
- 50:28Speaker 2: go ahead and end it now. Nobody I shouldn't say
- 50:31Speaker 2: no one's watching it, but there are very few people
- 50:34Speaker 2: that watch it. That's just to me, been one of
- 50:36Speaker 2: the biggest busts as far as I'm concerned. And he
- 50:40Speaker 2: said he's not certain if he'll return to the PGA
- 50:43Speaker 2: because it's unclear if he'll be welcomed or not.
- 50:46Speaker 3: Well, not only that, he also mentioned wanting to concentrate
- 50:50Speaker 3: on growing his YouTube even further than it is right now.
- 50:53Speaker 3: But the only worry I have with that is Bryson D.
- 50:57Speaker 3: Chambeau right now is very relevant because he's a current
- 51:01Speaker 3: golfer and that's why people flock to his YouTube. If
- 51:03Speaker 3: he's not in golf anymore, I don't think his YouTube
- 51:07Speaker 3: keeps up the way it's going. I mean, I do.
- 51:10Speaker 3: I think there would be a steady decline at some
- 51:12Speaker 3: point where people are just tired of the same old bit.
- 51:15Speaker 3: So in my opinion, I would love to see him
- 51:17Speaker 3: back on the PGA. I do think he would be welcomed.
- 51:19Speaker 3: He feels like one of the live guys that all
- 51:22Speaker 3: the PGA guys still get along with. They know what
- 51:25Speaker 3: he can do to help them grow the game of golf.
- 51:27Speaker 3: The crowds love him. He's interactive with the crowd. I
- 51:30Speaker 3: think he would be great to get back on the
- 51:32Speaker 3: PGA tour.
- 51:33Speaker 1: Well.
- 51:33Speaker 2: See, at one point within the last two or three years,
- 51:36Speaker 2: he was a villain right for sure, and and everybody
- 51:39Speaker 2: disliked him because he was making all kinds of unusual comments,
- 51:42Speaker 2: going to live and all that kind of stuff.
- 51:44Speaker 1: But I think he's kind of.
- 51:47Speaker 2: Apologized to a degree with his antics and tried to
- 51:51Speaker 2: re engage with all the fans. And I like that
- 51:54Speaker 2: because I was one of those guys that didn't really
- 51:56Speaker 2: care for him. But I'm back to a point where
- 51:58Speaker 2: I kind of like him. It seems like he's tried
- 52:01Speaker 2: to completely change his image in a positive way, and
- 52:06Speaker 2: I appreciate that. So since he's doing that to me,
- 52:09Speaker 2: I think he should try to get back to the PGA.
- 52:11Speaker 2: I don't know if that's a maybe that's a way
- 52:14Speaker 2: justin of him to say test the waters if if
- 52:18Speaker 2: liv goes away, are they going to.
- 52:20Speaker 1: Accept me back into the PGA.
- 52:22Speaker 2: And that's and if there are a few players out
- 52:25Speaker 2: there and say yeah, we would want or the fan
- 52:27Speaker 2: base is saying we want you to come back, of course,
- 52:30Speaker 2: that would be an easier way to to get it
- 52:35Speaker 2: back into the PGA regular tour.
- 52:36Speaker 3: Well, I think for him it's more along the lines
- 52:39Speaker 3: of the stipulations to get back on the tour are
- 52:43Speaker 3: pretty steep, as they should be for anyone who left
- 52:46Speaker 3: the tour to go collect a five hundred million dollars
- 52:48Speaker 3: paycheck or whatever he got. But I think it's just
- 52:52Speaker 3: that that he doesn't want to deal with. I mean,
- 52:53Speaker 3: you're kind of seeing it with brooks Koepka. He's not
- 52:56Speaker 3: been in a lot of fields he's had. He's been
- 52:58Speaker 3: the alternative or alternate alternate, goodre alternate alternate in a
- 53:03Speaker 3: number of events. He's playing in the CJ cupp this weekend,
- 53:06Speaker 3: which is a tournament that brooks Kepka should not be in.
- 53:09Speaker 3: But they asked him about it. He says, Hey, I
- 53:11Speaker 3: don't get to tee it up every week like I
- 53:13Speaker 3: used to. So if there's a tournament that I can
- 53:15Speaker 3: get in, I don't care what it is, I'm gonna play.
- 53:17Speaker 3: And that's kind of the route that d Chambau would
- 53:20Speaker 3: have to go as well if he got back in.
- 53:22Speaker 3: So it's it's not gonna be immediate. It's gonna take
- 53:24Speaker 3: you several years to get your footing back on the
- 53:27Speaker 3: PGA tour. And I think with d Chambeau, he's just
- 53:29Speaker 3: weighing is that even worth it? At this point?
- 53:32Speaker 1: Are you going to watch the Indy five hundred on Sunday?
- 53:37Speaker 1: You're not?
- 53:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm not an Indy car guy. And in the
- 53:40Speaker 3: Indianapols five hundred, the tracks just entirely too big. Yeah,
- 53:45Speaker 3: it doesn't do anything for me.
- 53:47Speaker 2: I would wonder. I wonder, Well, we'll see after it's done.
- 53:51Speaker 2: But you I don't know if you saw it or not.
- 53:53Speaker 2: But the Pretnus had the highest viewership it had in years,
- 53:57Speaker 2: no way, which was really surprise.
- 54:00Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 54:03Speaker 2: You think, so, okay, well, I'm just I'm just telling
- 54:06Speaker 2: you what I read, so you can go check it
- 54:08Speaker 2: fact check me.
- 54:09Speaker 1: I know you're going to during the break.
- 54:10Speaker 2: But uh, I just wonder what the put your hands down,
- 54:16Speaker 2: I know, I know, I just wonder what the uh
- 54:20Speaker 2: viewership will be like for the Indy five hundred. Do
- 54:23Speaker 2: more people watch the Kentucky Derby than the Indy five hundred,
- 54:27Speaker 2: I think they do so. Yeah, But I think kind
- 54:30Speaker 2: of the cool story though, is that the kid from
- 54:32Speaker 2: Louisville is going to be racing Jacob Abel exactly so.
- 54:38Speaker 2: But I think that that I think a lot of
- 54:40Speaker 2: people Louisville will paid titt maybe not watch the entire race,
- 54:43Speaker 2: but pay attention to it well just because of the
- 54:46Speaker 2: local flair. I mean, the last time we've had somebody
- 54:48Speaker 2: from Louisville in the Indy five hundred nineteen eighty five
- 54:51Speaker 2: winner Danny Sullivan. And I remember Danny Sullivan.
- 54:54Speaker 3: I think A was in it last year.
- 54:56Speaker 2: He was in it last year. They kept talking about
- 54:58Speaker 2: this is his rookie season.
- 55:00Speaker 3: Maybe maybe I thought he was he Maybe I thought
- 55:03Speaker 3: he made it last year, but maybe he did.
- 55:04Speaker 2: I could be thinking I saw him race down here
- 55:06Speaker 2: in Saint Pete last year. Maybe that's in the race
- 55:11Speaker 2: they have in Saint Petersburg downtown Saint Pete, which is
- 55:14Speaker 2: a lot of fun. You can watch the whole race there.
- 55:16Speaker 2: But yeah, I'm like you with eighty five hundred. I
- 55:19Speaker 2: was the one and only time I went. It was
- 55:21Speaker 2: boring and no offense. I don't care if I ever
- 55:24Speaker 2: go back.
- 55:25Speaker 3: Well, and it's gonna be frustrating on Sunday. I'm here
- 55:28Speaker 3: to tell you that right now. With the rain moving through,
- 55:31Speaker 3: there's gonna be a lot of stoppages during that race.
- 55:34Speaker 3: It's it's not gonna be a fun watch. I don't think.
- 55:37Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, we gotta take another break.
- 55:39Speaker 2: If you'd like to text in five O two four
- 55:41Speaker 2: one four fourteen fifty on the Whiskey Teed text lines,
- 55:43Speaker 2: stay right there, We'll be right back.
- 56:16Speaker 1: FABO two three four fourteen fifty.
- 56:18Speaker 2: If you want to call in FABO two four one
- 56:20Speaker 2: four fourteen fifty one, text in on the Whiskey Thief
- 56:22Speaker 2: text liner.
- 56:23Speaker 1: You tweet me at just the Cat Radio and as
- 56:26Speaker 1: we speak.
- 56:27Speaker 2: Now, uh, you know, the evil one is on the
- 56:30Speaker 2: telephone right now, justin.
- 56:32Speaker 1: How should I treat him nicely or poorly?
- 56:35Speaker 3: Nicely? For sure?
- 56:36Speaker 1: Okay, good, we'll treat him nicely.
- 56:37Speaker 5: Nick Roush, good morning, Good morning, Michael Bennett. How are we.
- 56:43Speaker 1: I'm doing great. How are you?
- 56:45Speaker 2: Evidently a quick recovery since you can do another radio
- 56:48Speaker 2: show today.
- 56:50Speaker 5: I mean, I'm sucking on some cough drops. We're you know,
- 56:53Speaker 5: we've been gargling some olive oil. You know, you gotta
- 56:59Speaker 5: you gotta go to really like tune the things up.
- 57:01Speaker 5: I've uh, hey, you know, we had this one on
- 57:04Speaker 5: the docket for a while. I had yours on the
- 57:06Speaker 5: docket for a while. But see, Michael, I couldn't get
- 57:08Speaker 5: out of bed on Wednesday. And once you get some
- 57:11Speaker 5: antibiotics and you feel a little bit better, and I
- 57:14Speaker 5: feel a little bit.
- 57:15Speaker 3: Better, I get it.
- 57:16Speaker 1: Yeah, you're drugged up.
- 57:17Speaker 2: Okay, well the good I would rather you not be
- 57:20Speaker 2: on my show drugged up. So yeah, you go do
- 57:22Speaker 2: the country one and you'll be fine. So I won't
- 57:25Speaker 2: worry about it.
- 57:26Speaker 5: I will be very drugged up and we will be
- 57:29Speaker 5: good to go. I hope you're good to go.
- 57:31Speaker 1: Michael.
- 57:32Speaker 5: Did you win any money when you were playing the
- 57:34Speaker 5: ponies up in Maryland or not?
- 57:38Speaker 2: Nick, Let's just say my horse is I think still
- 57:41Speaker 2: on the track running, so hasn't completed hasn't completed the
- 57:45Speaker 2: race yet, So no, it wasn't It wasn't a great
- 57:48Speaker 2: day for the Old Senior Kills Stable.
- 57:51Speaker 1: But that's okay. We had a good time, good good.
- 57:54Speaker 5: It looked like a nice time out there. I had
- 57:57Speaker 5: the exact and the last race to get some money back.
- 58:00Speaker 5: So yeah, got right now in Kentucky. But hey, they're
- 58:04Speaker 5: still running them at Churchill. We can still get them
- 58:06Speaker 5: back and we're gonna have a good Memorial Day week
- 58:08Speaker 5: at rain or Shot.
- 58:10Speaker 2: Well exactly because I know you've really been bragging about
- 58:15Speaker 2: because I wanted to teach you because you know you
- 58:16Speaker 2: wouldn't do my show, but you're doing another show today,
- 58:19Speaker 2: and that's okay. I'm just I'm just you know, I'm
- 58:21Speaker 2: messing with you. But you've really been promoting this horse
- 58:26Speaker 2: race that's coming up at Churchill Downs. Amongst all these horses,
- 58:31Speaker 2: I mean, some real talent is coming here. How excited
- 58:34Speaker 2: are you about this race? The Stephen Foster?
- 58:38Speaker 5: It's pretty awesome because I think the worst part about
- 58:41Speaker 5: horse racing is the racing to breed sort of mindset
- 58:45Speaker 5: that so many have, where you know, as soon as
- 58:48Speaker 5: you fall in love with these horses, they retire right. Well,
- 58:51Speaker 5: they brought sovereignty back to be a four year old
- 58:53Speaker 5: and he didn't win his last time out. He actually
- 58:56Speaker 5: was yeah great white, Yeah white Barrio, well sovereignty white
- 59:02Speaker 5: to Barrio. They're both going to be at the Stephen
- 59:04Speaker 5: Foster that's the premier race for older horses at Churchill
- 59:09Speaker 5: You're also got Skippy Longstocking who won the Dubai World Cup,
- 59:13Speaker 5: Baeza who ran third in all those Triple Crown races
- 59:16Speaker 5: last year, and in Magnitude who. I can't remember what
- 59:20Speaker 5: big race, but it's pretty cool that they're they're they're
- 59:23Speaker 5: giving us a big race for older horses at Churchill
- 59:27Speaker 5: Down's in the middle of summer. The purse is two
- 59:29Speaker 5: million bucks in it. That was the one bummer about
- 59:31Speaker 5: the pretness. It didn't feel like a Grade one Triple
- 59:34Speaker 5: Crown race. Just looking at the field, this feels like
- 59:37Speaker 5: a two million dollar perse whining you get in Breeders'
- 59:40Speaker 5: Cup race like this. This is what the sport of
- 59:42Speaker 5: horse racing needs is races like this.
- 59:45Speaker 2: Couldn't agree more now. The one thing Justin said a
- 59:48Speaker 2: little bit ago because I made the comment that you
- 59:51Speaker 2: need to come and hang out with me at Churchill Down,
- 59:53Speaker 2: so you could. I don't know if you've experienced what
- 59:56Speaker 2: I get to experience there on a daily basis. But
- 59:59Speaker 2: you know, come out there and you can go to
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: the paddock with me, you can go to the winner
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: circle with me. We'll go to the backside again. But uh,
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: And then all of a sudden, Justin says, Michael, you
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: couldn't handle Justin, And for that fact, I don't think
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: just uh, I couldn't handle Nick.
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: And for that fact, Nick couldn't handle me.
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: How do you take a comment like that coming out
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: of the mouth of Justin Kaylin.
- 1:00:25Speaker 5: You know, I just don't think he wants to see
- 1:00:27Speaker 5: two fiery folks cheering on horses. At the same time,
- 1:00:31Speaker 5: I think he's a little worried that we might be
- 1:00:33Speaker 5: a deadly combination if your horse gets to the finish
- 1:00:36Speaker 5: line first. Because I tell you what, Michael, I actually
- 1:00:40Speaker 5: had never done the paddock finish line deal before. But
- 1:00:44Speaker 5: we ran into a friend who had a horse in
- 1:00:46Speaker 5: the last race on Saturday, and nice boy, if that
- 1:00:50Speaker 5: horse didn't hate the Mud, we would have had one
- 1:00:52Speaker 5: hell of a time. Yeah, not like the mud. So
- 1:00:56Speaker 5: we were, we were geared up, We had been We
- 1:00:59Speaker 5: pregamed very hard for the occasion. Underdown us, and then
- 1:01:02Speaker 5: we stumbled on down there saw Dale. Dale remembered us
- 1:01:05Speaker 5: from our me from our interviews. Oh that was fun. Yeah,
- 1:01:09Speaker 5: so it was. It was a good time even though
- 1:01:11Speaker 5: we did not we did not get our home. We're
- 1:01:13Speaker 5: so first.
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I hear you right there all right before we
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: let you go, because I know you got to go
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: do that other little show, uh that not many people
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: listen to, but they'll listen to you because you know
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: that you do a phenomenal job. But uh, as far
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: as Malachai, what is your prediction on Malachi coming back
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: in mom Chilovic.
- 1:01:37Speaker 5: I think Malikai. I think we're gonna hear that he's
- 1:01:39Speaker 5: returning on Monday. I'm gonna I'm gonna even put a
- 1:01:43Speaker 5: date on it. I'm gonna say that he because I
- 1:01:48Speaker 5: just it just it just makes too much sense in
- 1:01:51Speaker 5: my brain. It just does financially from a development standpoint,
- 1:01:56Speaker 5: you know all the above, Mam Chilovich is one where
- 1:02:00Speaker 5: like you almost need moreno to announce on Monday so
- 1:02:04Speaker 5: he can help you recruit mom Chilovich to come back.
- 1:02:09Speaker 5: I just I'm not worry with him as he might
- 1:02:11Speaker 5: just have the mind so that he's done with college.
- 1:02:13Speaker 5: I think that's the only thing that's keeping him from
- 1:02:15Speaker 5: coming back to the college range is like, he's just like,
- 1:02:17Speaker 5: you know what, I've done this long enough. I'm ready
- 1:02:19Speaker 5: to go try out to him.
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: Well, but sometimes money talks, so you never know. Because
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: he'll make a lot more money in college than he
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: would That's the only reason I would think he'd come back.
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: He'll he'll make more at college than he will be
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: in a sept round, the second round pick for whatever
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: team he's gonna be playing with. So, man, you are
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: everywhere every time it turned around. You are either on
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: multiple podcasts, radio shows.
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: I mean, do you ever slow down?
- 1:02:48Speaker 5: Nick Raush, I had to do this week. It's stupid.
- 1:02:52Speaker 5: I strep throat. I forgot how much it sucked. It sucked,
- 1:02:56Speaker 5: let me tell you. And hell, I'm about to is
- 1:03:00Speaker 5: our COMFD talking to you like this is the dumbest thing.
- 1:03:02Speaker 5: I'm like, this is a child sickness. Why do I
- 1:03:05Speaker 5: feel so bad? So that is that's the only thing
- 1:03:08Speaker 5: that can slow me down. So tell me full of
- 1:03:10Speaker 5: emergency and let's let's keep this train rolling.
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: I love that pumping full of emergency.
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: Justin You're often quiet over there for a guy that
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: you know, you've known for a long time.
- 1:03:19Speaker 3: Oh, you were hating on me, so I got my friend.
- 1:03:21Speaker 5: I was.
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: Just simply saying, you guys are too loud. Guys, I
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: think you would scare all the horses. That would be
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: my concern.
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, Nick Roush, always appreciate you coming on
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: for just a couple of minutes.
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: Good to hear from you, my friend.
- 1:03:36Speaker 5: Good to hear from me too. We'll see you around, Michael.
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: It sounds good. All right.
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: Then that's Nick Roush of you know, multiple outlets. I mean,
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: I'm not kidding. It's hard to keep up with what
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: podcast he is doing or what he's it is it is.
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: I didn't get to talk about football. We should have
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: asked him a couple of questions about football, but he's yeah,
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: he's got time. Who cares. It's just a two hour
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: little show that not many people will be listening to,
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: So don't worry about that. I mean, you know, more
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: people are listening to the Big X than they are
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: that other stations. That does that mean for me to say?
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: I don't think so?
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: Just simply true? All right.
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: What do you think about the Knicks winning and getting
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: a two to zero lead over the Cavaliers last night.
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: I think this series is over.
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: Do you really? Oh yeah, why do you say that?
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: I mean, it's just a combination of things, like James
- 1:04:29Speaker 3: Harden doesn't have luck in the playoffs. They've won two
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: series with him. Donovan Mitchell can't win the big one.
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: So it just it feels like with the way that
- 1:04:37Speaker 3: especially that they lost that first game after having a
- 1:04:40Speaker 3: big lead with what seven minutes left, and you choke
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: that away and you lose that first game. Then you
- 1:04:46Speaker 3: come out last night and that first half they looked
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: pretty good, but that third quarter the Knicks blitzed them,
- 1:04:51Speaker 3: and I just I don't know. I think the Cavs
- 1:04:53Speaker 3: are going to be very fortunate to get one game
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: in this series.
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: Well, and by the way, the.
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: Guard for come on Mitchell, Donovan Mitchell, the other one Harden.
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: How old is that guy? Have you seen him?
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: When they interview him, He looks like he's almost fifty
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: years old, Jasar, he looks older than that.
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: You know that the beard is his trademark and it's
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: always bugged me. I don't know, yeah it is, And
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: all I can always say. The first thing I think
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: of is how much food gets caught in that and
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: what do you do at that point? But yeah, exactly,
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: you do that. But you know, they did the thing
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: with that irritates me. Uh, last night they went through
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: the celebrity crowd. It's kind of cool to see Jason
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: Bateman and Jason Sedeika sitting together. They did the whole
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: Ben Stiller. People on social media were brutal to Ben Stiller,
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: by the way, really saying he's not a celebrity anymore,
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: he hadn't done anything and in fifteen years. I mean,
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: they were brutal to him. They showed Alex Rodriguez I
- 1:06:07Speaker 2: always loved seeing and they referred to him as Johnny Mack.
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: I do love him being Johnny Mack, Johnny Mauez, Alex Rodriguez, Yeah, yeah,
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: and then Johnny Mack. And then I thought the funny
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: part was they showed John bon Jovie and the announcer said, yeah,
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: they were just playing one of his songs, Living on
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: a Prayer and he was singing along with his own song.
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: So I found that really. But I like John bon Jovie.
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: I've never really cared for his music, but I like
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: the guy. I mean, he just seems like a normal guy.
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: And then of course they showed Chris Rock. And then
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: what I thought was funny, somebody put out there a
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: video of CBS Sports talking about the game and the
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: celebrities that were there, and they showed a picture and said, oh,
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: look there's Cedric the Entertainer. And guess what it wasn't
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: Cedric the Entertainer. It was Bernard King, the famous Nicks.
- 1:07:06Speaker 2: Did you see that. I mean, they just they were
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: talking about like those Oh yeah, there's Cedric the entertainer
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: because it had you know, entertainer always has that one
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: kind of hat he always wears. But I mean the
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: fact that he was he knew that was said the
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: entertainer when it was actually Bernard Key just cracked me up.
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: But uh, anyway, I just wish they would stop that
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: every now and then. I don't know why they do that,
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: but uh, I just think it's funny. I'm losing something here,
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: But all right, tonight, the Spurs plays the Thunder at
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: eight thirty. Now that one's a little closer. It's one one.
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: I'm like you, I think the Knicks are going to
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: go on and win this. Now as far as the
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: Spurs Thunder, who's got the home field advantage for this series.
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: Do you remember, I don't remember Thunder. It is the Thunder. Okay, yeah,
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: that's right, it is the Thunder. So, I mean, that's
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: the only reason I'm going to give it to Thunder
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: is because the home field advantage.
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: I'm gonna give it to the Thunder as well, but
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: it's for a completely different reason. The Spurs are banged up.
- 1:08:15Speaker 3: Dylan Harper got a little nicked up the other night.
- 1:08:17Speaker 3: I don't know if he's gonna play tonight deeron Fox.
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: We have yet to see him in this series. If
- 1:08:22Speaker 3: you get even one of those guys back, I think
- 1:08:25Speaker 3: the Spurs have a really good chance to win this series.
- 1:08:28Speaker 3: If you don't get either of them back, I think
- 1:08:30Speaker 3: they're cooked as well. Yeah, but they are the favorite tonight.
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: I'm surprised to see that the Spurs. Yeah, by point,
- 1:08:38Speaker 3: that's interesting.
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: I wonder why is it in San Antonio.
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: That's why. That's the only reason why. So that's not
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: that big of a spread though, five points, I mean
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: with a home field advantage.
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: Oh I thought you said.
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: Five Oh no, no, no, no, no, that's a toss
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: up game then yea. So just because no it's a
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: toss up, so I think the thunder is going to
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: win it. I think that I'm gonna I might be
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: switching now if if the Knicks come out, I might
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: pick the Knicks. Karl Anthony Towns is going to do it.
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: That's because I've said the whole time that's who I'm
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: rooting for.
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: I got a bad feeling about it.
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: I got a good feeling about it. And then the
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: sad news before we go to break, I did want
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: to talk about this. This is just terrible NASCAR driver.
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: I know you talked about a lot on your show.
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: Kyle Busch passed it away at the age of forty
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: one years old. Now, they said it was an undisclosed
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: serious illness. Have you heard anything else what it was.
- 1:09:38Speaker 3: I mean there's been people on Twitter kicking stuff around,
- 1:09:41Speaker 3: but until we know, there's really no point in speculating.
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: I mean, that is just anytime someone passes away at
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: such a young age, and forty one is young to me.
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: Even when I was forty one, it was young to me.
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: But man, that's just that's terrible. Yeah that was now
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: he was the villain of NASCAR, right, Yeah, I mean,
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: he wasn't very liked. He's just it's the way he drives,
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: the way he talks to his team. I mean, he's
- 1:10:07Speaker 2: just he was kind of an ass, and I hate
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: saying that with him.
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: He's passing. But yeah, there wasn't very many people that
- 1:10:14Speaker 3: were actively big fans of Kyle Busch. But yeah, you can't.
- 1:10:18Speaker 3: You can't knock the greatness that came out of it.
- 1:10:21Speaker 3: He's won more races on the NASCAR circuit than anybody
- 1:10:25Speaker 3: ever has. Between the Truck Series, Infinity Series, and the Cup.
- 1:10:29Speaker 3: He's won two hundred and thirty four races. Like That's
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: that's unbelievable. So I can't I may not have liked
- 1:10:36Speaker 3: the guy, but I can't sit here and say that
- 1:10:38Speaker 3: he wasn't one of the greatest to ever do it.
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, well yeah, because I'm not gonna say
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: any I know the name, but that's all I know
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: because I don't know NASCAR that well. But I just
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: anytime I see something like that and an untimely death,
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: it's just I hate it. So, I mean, I'm sorry
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: for the family as well. But anyway, we gotta take
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: our last break. If you want to text me, we'll
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: get back to those Texas soon as we'll get back
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: Bible two four fifty. And then who are the Chicago
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: Bulls considering for their head coach? I mean, this is
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: kind of crazy. And then also I do want to
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: talk about uh, Steve Sarcassian throwing under the bus a
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: Texas team and his former conference.
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: I mean, I just that was bizarre.
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: We'll talk about that too, stay right there, one more
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: segment of just on this Friday.
- 1:11:29Speaker 6: So, yeah, you are all over the place today.
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, this is horrible. You like this?
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: Well, it's it's okay, it's Billy Ocean was okay, Okay,
- 1:12:13Speaker 2: that's all I'll say right there. That's as nice as
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: I can be about Billy Ocean. But it's not anything
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: that I would be listening to right now. I I
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: I wouldn't put him as bad as Abbab're.
- 1:12:25Speaker 3: Your hate for Abbas is ridiculous. I don't like them
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: real You like that?
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: Okay? That's good?
- 1:12:36Speaker 3: Balls?
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: Oh please yet? No, No, that's not Abba. Is it is?
- 1:12:41Speaker 3: It isn't it?
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: No?
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: Ninety nine red balloons is not Abba. It is Okay,
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: you it is not. I'm positive, by the way, Okay, Nina.
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: Not even close to being Abba. You you're terrible. Uh
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: but anyway, talking about terrible, that was horrible right there.
- 1:13:06Speaker 2: Uh talking about terrible. Did you see where the Chicago
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: Bulls are considering Jerry Stackhouse as their next head coach?
- 1:13:16Speaker 3: Could be worse?
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: How can it be?
- 1:13:20Speaker 2: All right, he'll be the dressed, the best dressed, uh
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: since pat Riley as the head coach. But his record
- 1:13:26Speaker 2: at Vanderbilt was seventy and ninety two. He had a
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: forty three winning percentage there in five seasons.
- 1:13:33Speaker 3: Yeah, but I mean not.
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: As bad as Jamal moseleyt Orlando.
- 1:13:37Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:13:37Speaker 3: But Stackhouse came out and said that if he got
- 1:13:40Speaker 3: the nil backing the way that Byington is, then he
- 1:13:43Speaker 3: would have had Vanderbilt as a powerhouse as well.
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: I don't believe it.
- 1:13:47Speaker 3: You gotta keep that in mind.
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: I don't believe it. Do you believe he could have?
- 1:13:51Speaker 4: No?
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: Okay, thank you? So why are the Bulls even considered?
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: I just don't understand why these teams want to hire
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: coaches that don't have winning records. Go get an assistant
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: coach and give them a chance instead of hiring a
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: coach that has a losing record to your team.
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: I mean, that's what I would.
- 1:14:11Speaker 3: Do the NBA. It doesn't matter as much to me
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: personally because you don't I disagree a great coach at
- 1:14:18Speaker 3: the NBA level, the coach or the players are going
- 1:14:20Speaker 3: to coach themselves more times than not. But Stackhouse played
- 1:14:23Speaker 3: in the NBA for many, many years. He knows what
- 1:14:26Speaker 3: it takes to succeed in that league. I think, honestly,
- 1:14:28Speaker 3: I think he could be one of those coaches that
- 1:14:30Speaker 3: would do better at the NBA level than he did
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: in college.
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: Okay, I'm just going to disagree with you. I think
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: it's going to be the same result and the Bulls
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: will be just just be a ludicrous decision if they decided.
- 1:14:41Speaker 3: To agreed once today.
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: No, I don't think we've agreed once in the past
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: three or four days, so you're exactly correct. What do
- 1:14:50Speaker 2: you think about Texas football coach Steve Sarcasian taking a
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: shot at a team in his state and former conference.
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: He said, there's a team in our state in another
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: conference with a schedule. I would argue, if I played
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: with our twos and threes, we could go undefeated and
- 1:15:09Speaker 2: they'll probably make the College Football Player Playoffs this year.
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: He's gotta be talking Texas Tech.
- 1:15:15Speaker 2: He's exactly talking about Texas Tech exactly. Of course, it's like, well,
- 1:15:19Speaker 2: wait a minute, weren't you just in that conference a
- 1:15:22Speaker 2: little over a year ago. Would he have said the
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: same thing if he was in that conference?
- 1:15:27Speaker 3: I think so.
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: You think he.
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: Would have said that same thing if he was still
- 1:15:33Speaker 2: in the Big twelve.
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: I mean, if he's saying it now, I wouldn't even
- 1:15:35Speaker 3: said it then.
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: He would not have said it then because he's got
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: his because that hurts his image as far as a
- 1:15:42Speaker 2: football program.
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: The fact that.
- 1:15:45Speaker 2: He's playing in a very easy conference, that if he
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: started his second team and third team, they could go
- 1:15:52Speaker 2: undefeated through his conference schedule. That's a knock on the conference. No, okay,
- 1:15:57Speaker 2: finally we agreed. Okay, good. I feel so much better now.
- 1:16:01Speaker 2: And then I love this. The Texas Tech GM fired back.
- 1:16:05Speaker 2: Now it's a bunch of excuses, was his comeback. I
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: thought that was kind of a lame comeback. But anyway,
- 1:16:11Speaker 2: he's not wrong, Steve Sarcine. I just I just didn't
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: like the fact that he's throwing a team in his
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: own state and in the conference he was literally in
- 1:16:22Speaker 2: just two years ago.
- 1:16:23Speaker 3: I mean, he was right the fact that Texas Tech
- 1:16:26Speaker 3: is in all likelihood gonna make the playoffs and they shouldn't.
- 1:16:29Speaker 3: But I don't know that it's gonna be because the
- 1:16:31Speaker 3: easy schedule. I think they could beef up their schedule
- 1:16:33Speaker 3: a little bit and they're still going to have success
- 1:16:36Speaker 3: because of how much money they have and they went
- 1:16:39Speaker 3: out and they got basically whoever they wanted out of
- 1:16:42Speaker 3: the transfer portal. I think Texas Tech's going to be
- 1:16:44Speaker 3: really really good because of the players on their team,
- 1:16:47Speaker 3: not because of the schedule.
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: Oh. I think it's a combination of both.
- 1:16:50Speaker 2: I think, yeah, they probably have some good players on there,
- 1:16:53Speaker 2: but you know, the schedule really helps you. That's I
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: just wish the Steve Carsasians out there would go after
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: Notre Dame, not not teams that are in conferences.
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: That's the team they should really And why more.
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: Coaches don't speak up against Notre Dame because Notre Dame
- 1:17:12Speaker 2: has the easiest road compared forget about the Big twelve
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: in the easy schedule that Texas Tech is going to have,
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: what excuse does Notre Dame have and they're going to
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: be invited every single time?
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: That's just not fair.
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: It's not fair to a team like Kentucky or any
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: team in the SEC Big Ten or any of the
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: conferences out there. It is not fair at all, and
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: why they don't go pick on Notre Dame is just
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: beyond me.
- 1:17:39Speaker 3: I think we're just we're tired of the whole Notre
- 1:17:41Speaker 3: Dame rhetoric. Like people can gripe about them all they want,
- 1:17:45Speaker 3: whether it be a code or radio host, you name it.
- 1:17:48Speaker 3: Nothing's gonna change with Notre Dame. I mean, they're they're
- 1:17:51Speaker 3: locked in with one of the best positions you can
- 1:17:54Speaker 3: be in in all of sports.
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:17:56Speaker 2: Okay, well, but but you know what, since it's not fair,
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: they need to make them force them to change it
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: and join a conference. I don't care what conference you join.
- 1:18:05Speaker 2: Just join a conference. That's what's going to make it fair.
- 1:18:09Speaker 2: One person said, I believe the Preakness numbers. A racing
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: event with fourteen horses, a chance to gamble and that
- 1:18:15Speaker 2: finishes under two minutes is as easy watch. I was
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: really surprised that they had a feel of fourteen. I
- 1:18:23Speaker 2: wouldn't run a horse at Laurel Park. Well, I understand,
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: neither would I, but I didn't have the final say.
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: So you're correct on the pretnous viewership. So you know
- 1:18:38Speaker 2: you don't believe me. Everybody's telling me, I'm right, No,
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: it was the highest.
- 1:18:42Speaker 3: I'm not saying that I didn't believe you. I just
- 1:18:44Speaker 3: I don't necessarily believe those numbers like it doesn't to me.
- 1:18:47Speaker 3: It doesn't make sense that it would have been the highest,
- 1:18:49Speaker 3: and it doesn't.
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: Make sense to them either.
- 1:18:52Speaker 2: When I saw that, I'm with you right there because
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: of the fact that it's like, well, it's not at Pimlico,
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: it's at Laurel Park.
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: It's not normal.
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: You don't have the derby horses in it like you
- 1:19:04Speaker 2: did before. Why is this, all of a sudden the
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: largest viewership. It didn't make any sense to me either.
- 1:19:11Speaker 2: Legendary driver AJ Foyt was an avid horse owner. I
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: didn't know that the best to carry his coyote or
- 1:19:18Speaker 2: in silks was rare brick. Thank you, forty eight Handley.
- 1:19:22Speaker 2: That's some more. I didn't know about that good music today,
- 1:19:26Speaker 2: justin thanks that seems sincere. That's from Patrick, So you
- 1:19:33Speaker 2: don't you don't believe him, do you?
- 1:19:35Speaker 3: Oh? If it's from Patrick, it is okay.
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: I agree with I agree with Scoots.
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: On Stackhouse being a good candidate. But players coach themselves
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: as crazy they do.
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: Do you think so.
- 1:19:49Speaker 3: Those guys have been playing basketball for so long, you coaching?
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: They don't need. They just need guidance. They don't need coaching.
- 1:19:55Speaker 3: I'm truthfully of the mindset that NBA coaches are simply
- 1:19:59Speaker 3: in their position to manage eCos. I don't I don't
- 1:20:02Speaker 3: think they have to do much with the x's and
- 1:20:04Speaker 3: o's because those guys are wicked smart.
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: Why why couldn't a coach like Caliperi Patino? Why couldn't
- 1:20:12Speaker 2: they succeed in the NBA? Are they more a pure
- 1:20:16Speaker 2: coach because they they don't because they have an ego themselves.
- 1:20:20Speaker 2: Oh you think that's what it is? So you need
- 1:20:22Speaker 2: no ego to be able to do it. Okay, all right,
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: I don't know if you saw this, but one thing
- 1:20:27Speaker 2: I want to talk about before we leave. City of
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: New York is offering one thousand heavily discounted tickets for
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: the World Cup for only residents. Did you see that
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: the tickets are going to cost fifty dollars, which is
- 1:20:39Speaker 2: a huge drop on the average. Yes, now, fifty dollars
- 1:20:44Speaker 2: to the met Life Stadium. Of course, the average ticket
- 1:20:47Speaker 2: right now met Life Stadium for the World Cup twenty
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: seven and forty nine dollars. That's just crazy, So good
- 1:20:54Speaker 2: for New York for doing something like that to let
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: people in there to uh that can't afford it at
- 1:20:59Speaker 2: fifty dollars is more doable, isn't it.
- 1:21:01Speaker 3: For sure?
- 1:21:02Speaker 2: Now they'll probably have to pay out the butt for concessions.
- 1:21:05Speaker 2: That's where they're gonna make. It'll be one thousand dollars
- 1:21:07Speaker 2: for a hot dog and two thousand dollars for a
- 1:21:09Speaker 2: diet coke, so that's where they'll get you.
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: But anyway, all right.
- 1:21:14Speaker 2: Justin have a great weekend this weekend, Yeah, everybody stay
- 1:21:17Speaker 2: safe out there. We're gonna take Monday off as I
- 1:21:20Speaker 2: hope you get to as well. But we'll see you
- 1:21:23Speaker 2: on Tuesday and hopefully we have some answers with Malachi
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: and some other ones too, So everybody be safe.
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: We'll see you Tuesday on just the.
- 1:21:31Speaker 7: Cat No No
- 1:21:50Speaker 4: Cool
