Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Monday, October 19th, it is 649 and time for the headlines.
- 0:05Speaker 1: My name is Damon and here to do the headlines,
- 0:08Speaker 1: Amanda Jo.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Weather today, mix of sun and clouds, highs near 60.
- 0:12Speaker 3: NFL, yesterday it was a showdown between two teams that
- 0:16Speaker 3: people in Connecticut might cheer for.
- 0:18Speaker 2: The Patriots and the Jets.
- 0:20Speaker 3: And the Pats came out victorious.
- 0:22Speaker 2: 26 to 19.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Wow, she had her arms up in the air and everything.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Giants, they lost to the Saints, 34-27.
- 0:29Speaker 3: 90s Con went down over the weekend in downtown Hartford.
- 0:33Speaker 2: I tried.
- 0:34Speaker 3: I tried to stalk some 90s celebrities at Carbones before
- 0:38Speaker 3: we went on our ghost hunt.
- 0:39Speaker 1: And you got nothing.
- 0:40Speaker 2: We got nothing.
- 0:41Speaker 3: So if you happen to witness a 90s star in
- 0:44Speaker 3: the wild and want to tag us on social, country925.
- 0:46Speaker 1: You saw some pictures, though, like with... Who? Like Damien Popup?
- 0:50Speaker 1: Like your beloved.
- 0:52Speaker 3: I mean, I saw Carrie was hanging... Our sister station,
- 0:55Speaker 3: The River. Carrie Collins was hanging out with Joey Fatone.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Really?
- 1:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:01Speaker 1: He gets around that guy.
- 1:02Speaker 3: He does. McDonald's Boo Baskets are back, but this year
- 1:06Speaker 3: with a twist.
- 1:07Speaker 2: This year they're going Disney villains.
- 1:09Speaker 3: So they've got Ursula, Maleficent, Scar, Jafar, and Cruella de Vil.
- 1:13Speaker 3: And they even come with stickers so you can jazz
- 1:15Speaker 3: them up as you wish.
- 1:16Speaker 1: How do you say it again? Maleficent.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Maleficent.
- 1:18Speaker 1: I never knew how to say that. Thank you.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Maleficent.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Country 925710. Google Buster is off this week because we
- 1:28Speaker 1: got something big. Especially if you're listening on the iHeartRadio app,
- 1:33Speaker 1: which I hate to say it, but that's the only
- 1:34Speaker 1: way you're going to get these.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Zach Bryan.
- 1:37Speaker 3: Announced a tour last week, Young Manhood and other donated organs,
- 1:41Speaker 3: also the name of the album. It is going to
- 1:43Speaker 3: be stopping at MetLife Stadium May 14th and 15th. If
- 1:46Speaker 3: you want a chance to win some tickets, send us
- 1:50Speaker 3: a talk back through our free iHeartRadio app.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Tell us who you are, where you're from, why you
- 1:55Speaker 2: want to win.
- 1:56Speaker 1: I like to send that song out to my partner,
- 1:58Speaker 1: Amanda Jo, because she's kind of nuts. But I love her.
- 2:05Speaker 1: I know this is kind of an alien theme because
- 2:07Speaker 1: it's X-Files, but it just sounds spooky. So what a
- 2:09Speaker 1: great place.
- 2:10Speaker 3: You should find the Unsolved Mysteries music.
- 2:13Speaker 2: That gives me the creeps.
- 2:15Speaker 1: We're The Morning Show. That's Amanda Jo. My name's Damon.
- 2:17Speaker 1: We're talking about the weekend. I'm playing this because we
- 2:20Speaker 1: went on a ghost hunt on Friday and the spooks
- 2:23Speaker 1: showed up.
- 2:25Speaker 3: Hartford Elks Lodge, lodge number 19, which I did not
- 2:29Speaker 3: realize until we were there. That is the sequence of lodges.
- 2:33Speaker 3: And it was the first. So regardless whether or not
- 2:36Speaker 3: you believe in ghosts, it was really just cool to
- 2:39Speaker 3: go into the lodge and see the, what they.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Called it, the ritual room. Because it was just so
- 2:45Speaker 2: old and so cool.
- 2:46Speaker 1: There's a ton of history in that building. I mean,
- 2:48Speaker 1: I could spend all day there just reading things on
- 2:50Speaker 1: the walls and looking at pictures and stuff, but.
- 2:52Speaker 3: Yeah, we put a great reel together if you want
- 2:54Speaker 3: to check it out. Country 92.5. But the table that
- 2:59Speaker 3: we were sitting at where the Halloween party is going
- 3:02Speaker 3: to be on the 30th was pretty active. I think
- 3:05Speaker 3: we made friends with a ghost. I mean, that little
- 3:06Speaker 3: EMF meter went nuts at one point.
- 3:11Speaker 1: It did. Honestly, we were asking questions and it would
- 3:13Speaker 1: start going. And we eventually figured out that the ghost
- 3:17Speaker 1: was sitting in a seat because anytime somebody came over
- 3:19Speaker 1: to our table and sat in the seat. It stopped.
- 3:22Speaker 1: It stopped. And then they got up. I'm like, quit
- 3:24Speaker 1: sitting there.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:25Speaker 1: You're sitting on the ghost. You're giving that one gal said,
- 3:28Speaker 1: I just give the ghost a lap dance.
- 3:30Speaker 2: I'm like, yeah, you did.
- 3:32Speaker 3: You did. But yeah, super cool. And again, the Elks
- 3:35Speaker 3: are going to be having a Halloween party.
- 3:38Speaker 2: The haunted herd party. on the 30th. I'm very excited.
- 3:42Speaker 3: I'm working on my costume. You can buy your tickets, readingsbykaren.com.
- 3:46Speaker 3: She was actually the medium that helped lead us on
- 3:49Speaker 3: this hunt through the building.
- 3:51Speaker 2: And they had all the fun.
- 3:53Speaker 3: Equipment to measure the electromagnetic fields and to see if
- 3:57Speaker 3: you could get a ghost to talk to you. So
- 3:59Speaker 3: it was super cool. Again, you can check out the
- 4:01Speaker 3: footage Country 92.5 on Insta. On Saturday, I went up
- 4:06Speaker 3: to Hubline Tower, as I call it, the A1 Steak
- 4:08Speaker 3: Sauce Tower, because I couldn't say Hubline when I first
- 4:10Speaker 3: moved here.
- 4:11Speaker 2: For the first time, I actually got to go in
- 4:13Speaker 2: the tower. They were doing the Tower Tour Festival.
- 4:14Speaker 1: I didn't know that. I would have gone.
- 4:16Speaker 2: It was so cool. More history.
- 4:18Speaker 3: I learned about the Moscow Mule and the guy who
- 4:20Speaker 3: brought the Smirnoff Vodka, and they had A1 Steak Sauce there, too.
- 4:23Speaker 2: So it was pretty cool.
- 4:25Speaker 3: And then I'm a little dragon today because I had
- 4:28Speaker 3: a wedding last night in the 413.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Yeah. In the later afternoon on a Sunday.
- 4:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I didn't get I was in bed at 10 o'clock.
- 4:36Speaker 3: That was late for me on a Sunday.
- 4:37Speaker 2: So we're dragging. What else did you do?
- 4:40Speaker 1: Saturday was a fantastic day, mainly because of my wife.
- 4:43Speaker 1: She's like, we need to do some things. And we
- 4:45Speaker 1: finally did it. Like we have these dressers upstairs that
- 4:48Speaker 1: we want to get rid of and turn this room
- 4:50Speaker 1: into more of a kid playroom and art room. And
- 4:53Speaker 1: so we saw that Conard High School does a thing
- 4:57Speaker 1: with Journey Home, which is a great organization. So we
- 5:00Speaker 1: load them up in the truck and took them down
- 5:02Speaker 1: there and donated them, which was a great way to start.
- 5:05Speaker 1: That's great. And then I painted doors. I blew leaves.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Did a lot of stuff. It was fun.
- 5:09Speaker 2: You blew the leaves, not the leaf blower?
- 5:12Speaker 1: Well, no, the leaf blower, which, by the way, is
- 5:13Speaker 1: the greatest invention of all time.
- 5:15Speaker 2: No, I actually like the visual better of you blowing
- 5:18Speaker 2: the leaves.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I was down there going.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Anyways, and then Sunday, the big thing was my daughter, Tessa,
- 5:25Speaker 1: TNT Joke Factory, had a field hockey game, and she
- 5:29Speaker 1: scored her first goal. Get it, girl! Yeah, and I
- 5:32Speaker 1: got there just in time to watch it. So, fantastic.
- 5:35Speaker 2: She's got the taste now.
- 5:36Speaker 1: I know. I know. She was so happy. We're all happy.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Hope you had a great weekend as well. And if
- 5:42Speaker 1: we missed out on anything and you want to bring
- 5:44Speaker 1: up anything, send us a note.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Sharing is caring. Send us a talk back.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Amen. And check out that video of our ghost time.
- 5:50Speaker 1: It was crazy. My name's Damon. It is time for headlines.
- 5:54Speaker 1: And here is Amanda Jo to do weather today. Mix
- 5:58Speaker 1: of sun and clouds highs near 60 NFL. Two teams
- 6:02Speaker 1: that people in Connecticut might cheer for. played each other
- 6:05Speaker 1: yesterday the patriots and the jets.
- 6:07Speaker 3: And the patriots won 26 to 19 giants lost to
- 6:12Speaker 3: the saints 34 to 27 90s con went down over
- 6:15Speaker 3: the weekend uh 90 stars were all over the place
- 6:18Speaker 3: you know what when i was really excited that i
- 6:20Speaker 3: saw nigel from the nanny i saw carrie got to
- 6:24Speaker 3: hang out with him i don't remember he.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Was the butler Yeah, I don't remember him.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Oh, the English butler. He was so good.
- 6:30Speaker 3: So if you happen to have a celebrity sighting over
- 6:32Speaker 3: the weekend and want to share, sharing is caring.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Country92.
- 6:34Speaker 3: 5 on Insta. And McDonald's, bring it back, the Boo Baskets.
- 6:38Speaker 3: But this year, they're not the traditional Frankenstein pumpkin.
- 6:42Speaker 2: And Ghost.
- 6:43Speaker 1: What are they?
- 6:43Speaker 3: They actually teamed up with Disney and they're doing Disney villains.
- 6:47Speaker 3: So you got Ursula, Scar, Jafar, Cruella de Vil, and Maleficent.
- 6:51Speaker 2: How do you say that? How do you say that, Damon?
- 6:53Speaker 1: Maleficent.
- 6:54Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:54Speaker 1: I think I used to call it Maleficent or something.
- 6:56Speaker 1: It was like, you're totally off on that.
- 6:58Speaker 3: Haven't you seen the movie with Angelina Jolie as Maleficent?
- 7:01Speaker 3: I did not see that one.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Oh, it's really good.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Is it kid-friendly?
- 7:06Speaker 2: I think so, yeah.
- 7:07Speaker 3: Because I actually think the Disney movie as a kid,
- 7:10Speaker 3: I thought she was the scariest. But then seeing Maleficent
- 7:13Speaker 3: in the movie, you kind of see what happens to
- 7:17Speaker 3: her to kind of make her that way.
- 7:19Speaker 1: You know what we watched over the weekend with the kids? Ghostbusters.
- 7:23Speaker 3: Oh, they loved it.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Was Slimer in that one?
- 7:26Speaker 1: Slimer is in that one. Tomorrow, the TNT Joke Factory
- 7:31Speaker 1: returns with all new jokes. But today, we're going back
- 7:35Speaker 1: into the archives to 2023 for this joke. Joke time.
- 7:39Speaker 1: It's a brand new week.
- 7:43Speaker 2: No, I'm tired because it's almost bedtime.
- 7:46Speaker 3: It is.
- 7:46Speaker 1: So get that joke out quick. What did the grape
- 7:49Speaker 1: say when it got stepped on? What did the what?
- 7:52Speaker 1: Grape say when it got stepped on.
- 7:54Speaker 3: Hold on.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Hold on. Let me get squished. No. No. Nice try, though.
- 7:59Speaker 1: That's the kind of guess I'd expect from who? Amanda Jo.
- 8:02Speaker 2: He whined?
- 8:05Speaker 1: Huh?
- 8:05Speaker 2: He whined?
- 8:07Speaker 1: You know what? Let's see if you're right. Tessa Grace.
- 8:10Speaker 1: What's up, Dad? What did the grape say when it
- 8:13Speaker 1: got stepped on?
- 8:14Speaker 3: Nothing.
- 8:15Speaker 1: It just said hello wine. That's close enough for me. Congratulations,
- 8:22Speaker 1: Amanda Jo. You've actually started a week by getting one
- 8:25Speaker 1: of the kids' jokes right. Yes. Yes, indeed. Tomorrow, TNT
- 8:29Speaker 1: returns with brand new jokes. But we've got to get
- 8:32Speaker 1: through today first, and that means The Scoop is coming
- 8:35Speaker 1: up next.
- 8:36Speaker 3: Finally got a little taste of an epic collaboration that
- 8:40Speaker 3: will be ours on Friday.
- 8:42Speaker 1: We'll find out what she's talking about in eight minutes. Kids,
- 8:45Speaker 1: say goodbye. Have a fabulous Monday. Have a great Monday, everybody.
- 8:50Speaker 1: It's going to be a good day. Thank you for
- 8:51Speaker 1: starting with us. My name is Damon. That's Amanda Jo.
- 8:54Speaker 1: 826 now becomes Scoop Time, sponsored by Monaco Ford.
- 8:59Speaker 3: So this week at 710, you'll have the chance to
- 9:02Speaker 3: talk back for Zach O'Brien tickets. He dropped an album
- 9:06Speaker 3: on EP on Friday. And the tour, Young Manhood and
- 9:09Speaker 3: Other Donated Organs, it's going to be hit in MetLife
- 9:12Speaker 3: Stadium May 14th and 15th. This week, you have the
- 9:14Speaker 3: chance to talk back for tickets on the 15th. John
- 9:17Speaker 3: Fogerty is going to be with him on tour. And
- 9:19Speaker 3: heads up, if you're hoping to buy tickets, again, he
- 9:21Speaker 3: just did two nights at Gillette. They sold out set records.
- 9:25Speaker 3: So you're trying to get a big crew of you.
- 9:27Speaker 3: Go and register for the presale. Zachbryan.com. The presale will
- 9:32Speaker 3: be on Wednesday. The public on sale is on Friday
- 9:35Speaker 3: and the tickets will go quick.
- 9:37Speaker 1: It's probably because of my age, but that name just
- 9:40Speaker 1: makes me cringe every time.
- 9:42Speaker 2: Zach Bryan.
- 9:43Speaker 1: No, the name of the tour and the album.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Oh, Young Manhood and other. Yeah, it's interesting. It's interesting.
- 9:49Speaker 3: Anyways, Brothers Osborne going to be putting out their next album, Watertown,
- 9:54Speaker 3: on Friday. And I have said the first track on
- 9:57Speaker 3: this album is called Born and Raised Hell. it's a
- 9:59Speaker 3: collaboration with cody johnson and it is so good the
- 10:03Speaker 3: only teaser they've dropped thus far came over the weekend
- 10:06Speaker 3: instrumental and the video that they posted with it cody
- 10:08Speaker 3: johnson smashes a guitar.
- 10:10Speaker 2: And he wrote in the comments always wanted to do
- 10:13Speaker 2: that So it's pretty cool.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Every time I play this, it sounds like the end
- 10:17Speaker 1: of Freebird to me. I don't know why. Can't wait
- 10:19Speaker 1: for it. New music fry. Yay. And that is the
- 10:22Speaker 1: scoop today. Coming up next, feel good story. I know
- 10:27Speaker 1: that you will like it, Amanda Jo. Well, everybody's going
- 10:29Speaker 1: to like it, but it refers to a place that
- 10:32Speaker 1: you used to work at back in the day.
- 10:33Speaker 2: Aye.
- 10:34Speaker 1: Find out what it is about 15 minutes from now
- 10:37Speaker 1: here at Country 92.5. Country 92.5 Morning Show. Let me
- 10:42Speaker 1: introduce us. I'm Damon. That's Amanda Jo. And Roxanne, our
- 10:45Speaker 1: fetal show therapy dog down on the floor. Time for
- 10:49Speaker 1: today's feel-good story. In case you didn't hear, it's about
- 10:53Speaker 1: a place that Amanda Jo used to work at. So
- 10:56Speaker 1: she's wondering which one of those places beat Jay's Wholesale Club. Hey!
- 11:01Speaker 2: Worked there in high school.
- 11:02Speaker 1: They're celebrating 40 plus years. If you've heard the ads
- 11:05Speaker 1: on the air, you know that there's a lot of
- 11:07Speaker 1: good things they're giving away to the customer. But wow,
- 11:10Speaker 1: a lot of good things for its hourly employees. Earlier
- 11:14Speaker 1: this month, they held a surprise celebration at all their
- 11:17Speaker 1: stores and distribution centers where they rewarded 30,000 workers with
- 11:23Speaker 1: gift cards, no less than 250 bucks and up to $ 2, 000
- 11:28Speaker 1: depending on how long they've been with the company. And
- 11:31Speaker 1: with 268 locations across 22 states, that ended up being
- 11:35Speaker 1: $ 25 million worth of stuff to their employees. That is fantastic.
- 11:40Speaker 1: But you've said to me before, you really liked that place.
- 11:42Speaker 1: You thought they were really good for employees.
- 11:44Speaker 2: And the first wholesale club was in.
- 11:47Speaker 1: Massachusetts. Medford.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Massachusetts.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Yeah, it was.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I remember working there in high school. And
- 11:53Speaker 2: what was cool, I think I almost remember what I
- 11:56Speaker 2: got paid. I don't remember what the.
- 11:57Speaker 3: I think the minimum wage back then was like six something.
- 12:00Speaker 3: And because it was a warehouse and you're kind of
- 12:03Speaker 3: like lifting heavy, even as a cashier, I think you
- 12:07Speaker 3: got paid more than minimum wage. It might have been
- 12:08Speaker 3: like seven something that I was getting. And then on weekends,
- 12:12Speaker 3: you would get time and a half on Sundays. So
- 12:15Speaker 3: if I worked Sunday shifts, I'd get like 10, 10
- 12:18Speaker 3: something an hour. And then this was great. And this
- 12:20Speaker 3: was like free money for me in high school. Because
- 12:23Speaker 3: if they were closed on a Monday, like Labor Day
- 12:25Speaker 3: or Memorial Day, which often they did, you would still,
- 12:29Speaker 3: as an employee, get three hours.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Of holiday pay, which is double.
- 12:34Speaker 3: So I'd be like, $ 14 an hour for almost $ 20
- 12:38Speaker 3: an hour for three hours for not working, free money.
- 12:41Speaker 2: So they were always great to their employees.
- 12:43Speaker 1: That's fantastic. I don't want to question your career choices,
- 12:49Speaker 1: but if you were still there, you'd probably be an
- 12:51Speaker 1: assistant manager by now.
- 12:52Speaker 3: Yeah. Look, I say that all the time about Big
- 12:56Speaker 3: Y and I went from BJ's to Big Y and
- 13:01Speaker 3: I love my managers at Big Y and I'm going
- 13:04Speaker 3: every once in a while. I was like, I actually
- 13:07Speaker 3: there's somebody that I worked with in high school.
- 13:10Speaker 2: Well, no, I was in college when I worked at
- 13:11Speaker 2: Big Y.
- 13:12Speaker 3: And I ran into him when I moved back home,
- 13:15Speaker 3: and he is now the manager in Northampton, Massachusetts.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Good on you. Pulling down $ 65, 000.
- 13:21Speaker 2: It's a nice house and everything. I'm going, what? Things
- 13:26Speaker 2: that will never go out of business.
- 13:27Speaker 1: No, you're absolutely right.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Grocery stores. Funeral homes.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Right.
- 13:34Speaker 2: There was another. There was a third. There was a third.
- 13:36Speaker 1: I'll think on that. She's going to think on that,
- 13:38Speaker 1: you guys.
