- 0:00Holy hell, Sophie Cunningham makes an ass of herself, but that's just
- 0:04a Monday. And frankly, we got a lot to talk about because people are stealing
- 0:07our shit and we need to discuss that. I'm Cody Decker,
- 0:11welcome to The Regulars. I'm Tanya Ray Fox and I am patrolling the
- 0:15internet like a, like a little, uh, social media policeman trying to
- 0:19keep our stuff together. But in the meantime, we got a show to do,
- 0:21so let's do
- 0:25this, Cody.
- 0:31What a life. Our videos are going absolutely viral, but people are
- 0:35asking exactly who we are. I'm Cody Decker, she's Tanya Rae Fox, and you
- 0:39guys need to stop stealing our shit. Or if you're going to,
- 0:43tag us. Just tag us. Throw us a tag. We love Cody Decker
- 0:46and Tanya Rae Fox, or The Regulars Podcast, whatever you like. But you know,
- 0:50goddamn, we'll be, we'll be getting into it. Um, this has been
- 0:55Uh, quite a weekend in terms of good, good work content
- 0:59for us. Yeah, you're preparing for a vacation. I am. Next, much needed. What a
- 1:03boost, right? Have some good successful content right before you head out.
- 1:06That's great, love that for you. Um, you're going to Hawaii?
- 1:10I am going fucking to the North Shore of Oahu in a much-needed
- 1:13vacation. I haven't had one in a year. I know. Um, and it was funny,
- 1:17I was walking around the studio today down at the Fan LA, and you know,
- 1:20we're in the same spot as K-Rock, we're in the same spot as, uh,
- 1:22K-Earth 101, one of the K-Earth 101 people came out and was like, oh,
- 1:26how's it going? I'm like, oh, you know, I'm just getting ready for this vacation
- 1:27at the end of the week. Like, vacation already? We've been doing the show for
- 1:303 months. Yeah. And I had to explain to her, I'm like, yeah, but you
- 1:33have to understand, this is our one vacation for the next year.
- 1:36Yeah. And she's like, what? I said, no. Yeah, this is sports radio station.
- 1:39Like sports radio. You don't seem to get— sports world is dead right now.
- 1:43We are heading into the MLB playoffs and the NFL season
- 1:47starting at the same time we're heading into. And then in October,
- 1:50NBA starts. The WNBA playoffs will be happening and then,
- 1:55you know, NHL starts and then like we're all through NFL season up
- 1:58until the Super Bowl. There's no time. There's no time to be taking
- 2:03a break. Fucking zero. In fact, I won't have a break. And I was trying
- 2:06to explain, I'm like, no, there are no fucking days off. Yeah, I'm going until
- 2:10the Super Bowl ends and even then likely not stopping there.
- 2:13Well, because you're— the Super Bowl ending is always like a good little
- 2:16space for me. And then midsummer. But that little space for
- 2:20me is the start of baseball season for you. And so for me,
- 2:23like, it's a little bit different. I don't start talking about baseball until the All-Star.
- 2:27Yeah, I start talking about baseball 2 months before the season starts. I will now,
- 2:30cuz I'm straight through, you know, spring training and all that. I will probably
- 2:34talk way more than I ever had prior to— this next year we're going to
- 2:37be talking a lot of baseball because there won't be any.
- 2:40That's the craziest part, is by having no baseball,
- 2:44we will talk more about baseball And the entire sports landscape will
- 2:48talk more about baseball than we have in years. Yes, because it's going to be
- 2:50the topic of all conversations, especially when December 1st hits. Dude,
- 2:54fucking shit's gonna go kablooey in like the most embarrassing,
- 2:57stupid fuck ways you're ever going to see. The narratives are
- 3:01already out there. Don't worry, we've covered some of them and we're going to cover
- 3:03way more of them as they come along because holy shit, the dipshits are
- 3:07out. The fucking media moguls are out fucking carrying so much weight
- 3:12for owners and truly I don't even think they know that they're doing it.
- 3:14They're not smart enough to know that they're doing it. They're just fucking idiots that
- 3:17think they're making really good points. Not unlike all of the idiots right now making
- 3:20the good points, the really good points about trans athletes.
- 3:24Boy, oh boy. Yeah, trans athletes seem to be a huge problem according
- 3:27to, uh, 5 fucking straight dudes. All 10
- 3:31of them. All 10 of them in all of the United States. Right. Embarrassing.
- 3:34Um, so here's the thing, Cody. Uh, let's get into it. We're gonna get to
- 3:37headline number 1, uh, which is We're going to talk
- 3:41about the Sophie Cunningham and Dijonay Carrington situation as
- 3:45a, as an inroad to this conversation, because what happened
- 3:49over the weekend was Dijonay Carrington hard
- 3:52fouled Sophie Cunningham, sort of a hook around or like a rake sort
- 3:56of face rake neck thing. Yeah, it was, it was a hard foul. It was
- 3:59definitely a hard foul. She got ejected. All the things that were supposed
- 4:03to happen after a hard foul happened. And interestingly,
- 4:07something that people noticed immediately was that it
- 4:11was very similar, almost identical to a hard foul that
- 4:15Sophie Cunningham committed on Jacey Sheldon last year. I saw the— I saw the comparison.
- 4:18You saw the comparison? Very similar. Very similar. They're really like not much of a
- 4:22distinction. No. But again, I want to make this abundantly clear. Hard foul. Hard fouls
- 4:25happen. It's a professional league. Yeah. Yeah. And absolutely.
- 4:29Like, let's not lie about it. We've been watching sports forever.
- 4:32There are players who will hard foul other players a little harder because they don't
- 4:35like them. Yes, that's, that's what I think happened with Sophie Cunningham,
- 4:39most likely. And I wouldn't be shocked if that's what happened with Dijonay Carrington.
- 4:44What we— yeah, dude. I mean, we've talked about it across
- 4:49the course of NFL and NBA season, whatever. I mean, I got to be honest,
- 4:52I don't think Myles Garrett swung his helmet at Mason Rudolph
- 4:56because he liked him. You know what I mean? Like, people, people hate each other.
- 4:58Yeah. And professional. So, okay, now you can't take it too far.
- 5:02It didn't take it too far. It was, it was a hard foul, but it
- 5:05was whatever. Now, afterward, the reaction was exactly what you would think it
- 5:09would be. Absolute outrage. White woman tears over, you know,
- 5:12Sophie Cunningham being hard fouled. And then any legislation suggested
- 5:16yet? Not yet. But, you know, I'm sure it's coming. Let's hope. And then Dijonae
- 5:20Carrington tweeted white privilege in
- 5:24capital letters, which is really funny. I laughed,
- 5:27but I, you know, what are you going to do? It's— and the thing is,
- 5:30afterward, this is what I, you know, this is where we get— where things get
- 5:34interesting. Now, she— I'm gonna, I'm gonna read you what,
- 5:38uh, Sophie Cunningham said, and then I'm gonna tell you, because right before our show,
- 5:42so, uh, Dijonay Carrington updated her explanation
- 5:46about white privilege, what she meant by that. Can't wait to hear this. So Carrington,
- 5:49uh, she got the flagrant 2, uh, shortly after heading to the locker room.
- 5:53A post appeared on her Threads I mean, on her Twitter and then— or no,
- 5:56it was her Threads. It was her Threads. Oh yeah, we saw it. Cunningham said,
- 5:59I think the league is taking care of that. I mean, this has nothing to
- 6:03do with race. Last year I did the same thing and I got kicked out
- 6:05as I deserve to be kicked out. There's no reason to even play that card.
- 6:08And she said that Dijonay Carrington is just trying to get attention.
- 6:12You're right. She's the one getting all the attention. No one else is
- 6:16trying to get fucking attention at all. I'm glad you mentioned that because
- 6:20I hear Dijonay Carrington's name in the headlines so fucking
- 6:23often that it's very clear this is an attention thing. That's her
- 6:27M.O., right? Because I hear her name in print all the
- 6:30fucking time for all kinds of shit not surrounding basketball.
- 6:34Am I referring to the right person? Oh, no, I'm talking about Sophie Cunningham,
- 6:37aren't I? All right, continue. And Dijonay Carrington has been in the league 2 years
- 6:41fewer than Sophie Cunningham was already. She's already been in an All-NBA
- 6:45defensive team. You know, like, she's, she's a real player. The last time she
- 6:49was healthy, She's making her way back. We've all known about— nobody
- 6:53knew who Sophie Cunningham was outside of the WNBA until she decided
- 6:56to start getting attention. So I thought that those words were fascinating. I also thought
- 7:00it was a really fascinating use of words considering that we are in the midst
- 7:03of 2 of the greatest attention grabs,
- 7:07one of the like most egregious attention grabs we've ever seen
- 7:11from any former professional athletes with the 2 NBA
- 7:16players. You're being generous. NBA players being fucking generous.
- 7:20And since we last talked— so that we talked on Friday,
- 7:24Mr. Freedom had declared himself a trans woman who wanted to declare for the WNBA
- 7:29draft. Since then, Royce White did the same thing. Now, I would
- 7:33like to clear something up about Royce White. Yes, it is not Royce O'Neal.
- 7:37People are getting confused. One of them was a real NBA player.
- 7:41One of them, Cody, the other one who decided to declare for the WNBA
- 7:45draft as a trans woman, played 3 minutes in the W— in the NBA.
- 7:49Yeah, 3 minutes in the NBA. That's not an exaggeration. He literally
- 7:53only played 3 minutes, 3 games and 3 minutes. It's like coming in 5th in
- 7:58a fucking swim meet. It's somehow worse. It's actually like somehow he has a less
- 8:02exciting NBA career than Riley Gaines even had a swimming career,
- 8:05which is like, that's wild. We're really like the dregs.
- 8:08Less, uh, less, you know, well-known about
- 8:12him, but is becoming well-known, is that he, um,
- 8:16is an incredibly violent, dangerous man to women.
- 8:20Uh, such— so much so that he was granted,
- 8:24uh, his ex-wife was granted a 50-year restraining order. Wow.
- 8:28I did not know that was a thing. They— so he had the
- 8:312-year restraining order for his kid and a 50-year,
- 8:35which are very, as you clearly just laid out,
- 8:38incredibly rare to even get granted a 50-year. I know
- 8:42a lot of women who've been stalked, like truly have evidence of being stalked,
- 8:45who can't even get a restraining order, a protective order at all,
- 8:48let alone. So I don't know, that's— so right out the gate,
- 8:52this guy's just a loser-ass fucking piece of shit. So it totally makes sense that
- 8:54he wants to be around a bunch of women that he could harm. That makes
- 8:57sense. And, and so these 2 people with all the attention grabbing— now
- 9:01Sophie's seems to be fine with that, but Dijonais playing
- 9:04basketball against her is a little too far. Well, let's be real clear. You have
- 9:08to understand the, the trans thing that's being thrown in your face.
- 9:11If you guys haven't noticed the buzzwords that are being said and the timing that
- 9:15they're being said, let's be real clear. All of a sudden, trans women in sports
- 9:18is the number one topic in America again, uh, and also communism on the
- 9:22massive rise, which tells you one thing: we just lost a war and they don't
- 9:25want you to talk about it fucking at all. That's literally what's taking place to
- 9:29the point that they're going directly to a culture war that has no aspect of
- 9:33culture whatsoever. It's not even taking place. This isn't a thing. I just,
- 9:37that's why I'm so pissed off about this whole thing, 'cause it's not a fucking
- 9:41thing. It's just a thing for fucking little people
- 9:44trying to feel big and it's fucking embarrassing and makes me sick. Like,
- 9:48I dealt with this during the Olympics a couple years ago. You and I famously
- 9:52discuss it all the time. That one boxer who is a woman, by the way.
- 9:56I was terrified she was going to get murdered over all of this bullshit,
- 10:00all because of these dumb motherfuckers. I'm tired of dumb motherfuckers.
- 10:04It's really, really— aren't you all tired of dumb motherfuckers?
- 10:08Because I am. Apparently not. But there is, I mean, the fear about this,
- 10:11you know, sort of transvestigation thing that's going to start happening where people demand
- 10:16answers about just how a woman— a woman— like, it's really,
- 10:19really dark. It's really bad. And as much as we like to shit on these
- 10:22people, your intensity and, and genuine, like,
- 10:26disgust with it is the right feeling to have because this is
- 10:29going down a really bad path. Um, you know what's funny? Somebody once asked me
- 10:33when I was talking about this, why are you so mad about this? And my
- 10:35response was, why the fuck aren't you? That's you. I'm just gonna
- 10:39turn this on you. The fact that you're not mad about this means you're a
- 10:43piece of shit. Like, just fucking get that through your head. I'm mad about it
- 10:46because I know the difference between right and wrong, and as do you. Yeah,
- 10:48but a lot of people seemingly don't, and it really fucking It doesn't discourage me.
- 10:51It just reinforces that we are not going to make it as a species.
- 10:54Well, and the interesting part is that Sophie Cunningham, even in her advocacy
- 10:58for— or in advocating against
- 11:02trans women playing in sports, acknowledges that trans women exist.
- 11:06She just doesn't think that they should play in sports. But what's happening is the
- 11:10people who are supporting her are saying, because they're in our— they're in my comments.
- 11:13I've received thousands of them over the weekend. Trans women aren't
- 11:17women. They're men. No such thing as trans women. They're men. They're men. The men.
- 11:19Okay, well, it's not— I'm not— I'm— I can't argue with
- 11:23somebody who refuses to acknowledge that trans women are women. I do find it
- 11:27interesting that if they are men and you
- 11:31don't want men in sports, that you think that there's some sort of like statement
- 11:34being made here about these cisgender men going
- 11:38into the NBA when like you and I both know that none of these cis
- 11:43men would be taking hormones to lower their testosterone,
- 11:47to increase their, their female hormones,
- 11:50to reduce, you know, certain sizes
- 11:54of things, to have surgeries to remove certain parts of their bodies.
- 11:58That feels pretty not cisgender men to me. That feels pretty much like something
- 12:03that's different. They won't acknowledge it. Okay, fine. Uh,
- 12:06as far as Dijonay Carrington, she wanted to clarify because again,
- 12:10people are going to take everything you say out of context. Always. She said,
- 12:13uh, responding to, um, yeah,
- 12:17wait, oh, this is what it was. Okay, responding to a clip of former
- 12:21NFL linebacker Emmanuel Acho— oh, I just
- 12:25found out he was at a part of this— criticizing her for her reaction,
- 12:28uh, she posted on X that she never once claimed that the assessment of the
- 12:31foul was white privilege. Try exercising your critical thinking skills. I know you last—
- 12:35I know you studied psych. Furthermore, I'm the last thing from ignorant or
- 12:39asinine when it comes to speaking on white privilege. Do your research on that one.
- 12:42I actually went to school in one of the top universities, might I add,
- 12:44to educate myself on this exact subject. I would never use that term
- 12:48as a rhetorical weapon knowing the history and social weight it holds without
- 12:52having the proper evidence to substantiate it.
- 12:56So, you know, good for her for standing up for herself,
- 13:00for saying, you guys love to look at these accusations in
- 13:04the public as like some sort of virtue signaling or whining or out
- 13:08of context bullshit for attention. Meanwhile, that's exactly what
- 13:12Sophie Cunningham has been doing. And Dijonay Carrington,
- 13:16who's telling you, oh no, no, when I said white privilege, when I put that
- 13:19out there, don't worry, I knew what the fuck I was saying. Oh,
- 13:23you thought I— you thought I was just throwing out there? Let me
- 13:26remind you, I know exactly the history of the phrase, and I'm using it
- 13:30exactly how I fucking intended. I love that.
- 13:34I love You know, whether you agree with her response in the game,
- 13:37whether you agree with the— you can't agree or disagree with a hard foul in
- 13:41sports. Yeah, it's a hard foul. But like, if you don't see the white
- 13:45privilege and the difference between not only the way that the media and fans treat
- 13:48Sophie Cunningham, Caitlin Clark, and some of these other white players, but in how the
- 13:52league treats them. Okay. Okay. I just like—
- 13:56I— the Venn diagram that exists
- 14:00of the people that want to protect women's sports while at the exact same time
- 14:04are truly using women's sports as a political theater
- 14:08prop to honestly downgrade women's sports. It's not
- 14:11even a Venn diagram. It's just one fucking circle. Oh, yeah. And some of these
- 14:15fucking idiots like Sophie Cunningham, who truly don't understand how easily they're being manipulated
- 14:19and used as political theater to only bastardize their own product,
- 14:23is kind of mind-boggling to me. Well, she's going to come out of it
- 14:26richer than she was ever going to be playing the— playing basketball.
- 14:30No question. So for her, the grift works out really, really well. Caitlin Clark,
- 14:33she someday will be on Fox News. Caitlin Clark's a little more quiet for an
- 14:36obvious reason because she, she, her money could actually be in basketball. She has to
- 14:40be good at basketball. Yeah, she is talented. So there's that part of it.
- 14:43But yeah, absolutely. You know, you and I called
- 14:47this a while ago, like, you know, right when we were starting this podcast.
- 14:50This is a league built on Black women, built by
- 14:54Black women, built by queer women. And that was always going to be a target
- 14:58for a conservative fascist. Once they get their great white hope in
- 15:02there. Oh, baby. Oh, baby. So now they got 2 on one team. Oh,
- 15:05thank God. We've never— they've never had to contend with a league
- 15:09being genuinely popular that, that highlighted
- 15:13and, and foregrounded Black women and queer women,
- 15:16especially Black queer women, right? They don't— they're not loving that
- 15:20this is working out the way it has. They thought that Caitlin Clark would be
- 15:23the star and everybody else would be talked down to. Now all of a sudden
- 15:25everybody likes A'ja Wilson. Oh, everybody— we now know
- 15:29A'ja's in a, in a power couple and one of the most famous women athletes
- 15:32in the country. Oh man. Like, that's not what we were hoping for.
- 15:36Well, that was what was always going to happen. And there's a lot of— I
- 15:38do think that's a big part of this as well, is that there's just like
- 15:41this massive discomfort. Because the other thing about this, again,
- 15:45is the women don't shut up and back down. They don't— they
- 15:49don't sit down and shut up for Mr. Nice White Guy owner like the NFL
- 15:53and the NBA. Oh boy, boy, boy, do, do, do athletes love
- 15:57doing that on the men's side. That is for, for goddamn sure. Yeah. And,
- 16:01and so like everybody's like, culture war, culture war. What you're seeing is
- 16:05not a culture war happening in the WNBA.
- 16:08Not even a little. It is— what you're realizing is that there's an absence
- 16:13of cultural honesty in all these other leagues,
- 16:17right? There's no culture war in the NFL because
- 16:20every time a Black player breathes the wrong way,
- 16:24they are absolutely fucking lambasted. Not only in
- 16:28the media but by execs and whatever else. We just did a whole segment
- 16:33on it last episode. And the same for the NBA,
- 16:36the same for the MLB. No, that— those
- 16:40are, those are not accurate representations of where our culture is at
- 16:43right now. The WNBA and the backlash
- 16:47that Black women face and queer women face and trans women face every single day
- 16:51is a very accurate
- 16:55example of the culture and how these people are treated in every single everyday life.
- 16:59So like, you can call it a culture war that exists in the WNBA,
- 17:03but what you're actually seeing is the United States of fucking America. Mm-hmm.
- 17:08How do you feel about in headline 2 talking a little bit of women's
- 17:12ball? Actually ball? Sure. Okay. So I saw the roster.
- 17:16I think it's a hell of a roster. Yeah. Headline number 2, the Team
- 17:20USA 2026 FIBA World Cup roster. Uh, was released last week.
- 17:23I saw a great video of the Atlanta Dream head coach telling Ryan
- 17:27and Angel Reese that they had made the team. It was really sweet. Very cool.
- 17:30Super cool. Um, the ESPN headline reads Clark-Beckers
- 17:34on Team USA women's roster for FIBA World Cup. Um,
- 17:38I found that interesting that those were the 2 players that they decided to share.
- 17:41Boy, what, what do those 2 players have in common? Yeah, because, uh,
- 17:45uh, oh wait, oh, A'ja Wilson's on the team. Didn't mention that though. A'ja Wilson,
- 17:49uh, so fucking literally, like, guys, it's like
- 17:53so fucking blatant that it's— are you not insulted?
- 17:57Like, I'm actually insulted by the headline, and fucking you should be
- 18:01too. Like, this is a fucking clown show. Especially because, like, I actually—
- 18:05I fully understand that they might have been like, oh, we want to name some
- 18:08people that might, like, may not have made the team. Like, we wanted to— like,
- 18:11obviously we know A'ja Wilson and Brianna Stewart are gonna make it, but But in
- 18:14that case, you— and if you want the clickbait, you go Caitlin Clark,
- 18:18Angel Reese. Every— come on now. You go Angel Clark and Angel Reese.
- 18:23No question. No, no question. That makes all the sense in the world. They're going
- 18:25to be on the same team. That'll sell some fucking headlines. But instead you're like,
- 18:29well, what are the 2 new white girls? Yeah, exactly. And we all
- 18:34love Paige Becker. Yes, we do. But Jesus, absolute whatever. But she would agree with
- 18:38us on this. So that's how I know, you know, if you're doing a marketing
- 18:41thing. Yeah, that's a fucking layup. So as far as,
- 18:44uh, the team itself, we have Aaliyah Boston, Paige Beckers, Caitlin Clark,
- 18:48Nafisa Collier, uh, Ka— Khalia Copper, um,
- 18:52Chelsea Gray, Ryan Howard, Kelsey Plum, Angel Reese,
- 18:55Brianna Stewart, Asia Wilson, and Jackie Young. So by the way, Nafisa Collier being here
- 18:59makes me very happy. She has been so fun to watch this season. I'm a
- 19:02huge, uh, Minnesota fan. Like, that's, that's the team for me
- 19:06because I don't have a team in Boston and I've never gotten like really— like,
- 19:09I don't I haven't adopted Los Angeles as a— as my new sport
- 19:14in that way. Well, I'll admit that the Sparks aren't good either, and Kelsey Plum
- 19:17just quietly got traded a week ago, so that's not helping. To Chris's team,
- 19:20the Mercury. Um, my husband's a huge Mercury fan, like has been like for a
- 19:24very long time. Um, but Minnesota was the team I fell in love with.
- 19:27I really love Sheryl Reeve, and I have for a really long time. Um,
- 19:30and then on top of it, now they have Olivia Miles. Have you seen the
- 19:33videos of, uh, Lindsay Whalen like training with Olivia Miles? No, I haven't.
- 19:37Handles and stuff. No, completely missed. Really? Their videos are really sick.
- 19:40You gotta send that to me. Yeah, they're really cool. Um, but I wanted to
- 19:43say, you know, we've got 3— what is it, 3 aces on this team?
- 19:46We've got Chelsea, Asia, and Jackie Young. They're sort of a dynasty-type
- 19:50team. Um, 2 players from the Mercury, 2 players from the Dream, 2 players
- 19:54from the Fever, right? Because they have Aaliyah and Caitlin. Yep.
- 19:58Um, so that, like, I love when they have the team chemistry on,
- 20:01on teams like this, and I do think that they often build World
- 20:06Cup rosters or Olympic rosters so that there is a level of,
- 20:10um, you know, chemistry,
- 20:13but with among some of the players already. So there's very clearly
- 20:17specific teams being represented here, uh, and it
- 20:22all makes sense to me. I mean, there's definitely snubs. There's snubs on every list.
- 20:25I, you know, I think it's really funny that
- 20:29like after all the hullabaloo about the Olympic team and whatever
- 20:33Caitlin Clark's on the team and I have not seen any of
- 20:37these people like celebrating having— they're all so distracted by Sophie
- 20:40Cunningham that they're not even there to like to do their little victory
- 20:44lap about Caitlin Clark making the Olympic team. Funny about this whole thing. I almost
- 20:48felt bad for Caitlin Clark this last week when she did that interview where she's
- 20:51like, I just don't want anything to do with this. I almost kind of like—
- 20:54I almost found it commendable, but I was just like— and it was just so
- 20:58funny watching the people on the right fucking flip out about it. I'm like,
- 21:01yeah, Jesus Christ. I honestly sat there going like,
- 21:04This poor girl. Yeah, there's nothing— she can't do anything right now. Like, this is
- 21:08fucked. I mean, listen, her and Alyssa— Aaliyah Boston are
- 21:12obviously a pretty dynamic, very good duo on the
- 21:16Fever. They're gonna be a dynamic— like, I'm interested to see the, the lineups
- 21:20that they roll out with this team. Um, I do think that there's—
- 21:24Caitlin Clark plays a pretty specific style where it's
- 21:28like high turnover but really like a lot of assists, and the perimeter shooting is
- 21:31is crazy. Um, and I,
- 21:35I, uh, as somebody who lives with a Mercury fan, Ka Copper
- 21:39being on there is great. She's really underrated. Like, I— she's
- 21:42not underrated among WNBA fans, but I think that a lot of— in
- 21:46the zeitgeist— more casuals— I don't know enough about her. Exactly. So more casuals
- 21:49don't know as much about her game, but she's— she
- 21:53is an absolute fucking beast.
- 21:56And I— if I were to bet, like, who, you know, because I'm
- 22:00sure we'll watch these games and pay attention, like who's going to stand out to
- 22:03you as like, oh, that's my new favorite player on that team. I think
- 22:07Copper will be yours. So I'm just calling that now. Just, you know,
- 22:11you know, it doesn't have to be. It doesn't have to be. But I'm just
- 22:13saying, by the way, how bad are things going in L.A. that the moment Kelsey
- 22:16Plum's gotten over there to the Mercury, everyone's like, right? He's like, yeah, she's already
- 22:19a leader and everything's great. I'm like, I know the fuck just happened here.
- 22:23I know. Like, this was on paper. It's a fucking great team. Yeah,
- 22:27it's not a great team. Your teams are going to take a hit in this
- 22:29show because I have something later about the Raiders that's Really funny. I, I'm aware.
- 22:33I've talked about it this week already. It's fucking Raiders,
- 22:36man. Uh, we actually are gonna just head over to the NFL
- 22:40now. Um, headline number 3. I found this to be interesting.
- 22:43Headline number 3: The— an altered NFL rule now allows
- 22:47head coaches to select a staff member to initiate challenge calls on
- 22:51their behalf. This new change to the NFL rulebook will allow them to
- 22:55designate a member of the sideline staff to throw challenges on teams' behalf. In the
- 22:58past, Only the head coach was given the red challenge flag. Now they'll be able
- 23:01to select someone else ahead of the game to throw the flag for them.
- 23:04Rule 15, Section 1, Article 1 in the league's rulebook now reads, the head coach
- 23:07or a head coach's pregame challenge designee candidate, a challenge
- 23:11by throwing a flag. Why are they doing this, though? That's the only thing I'm
- 23:14not really getting. A league official confirmed that the
- 23:17rule change happened on Monday. All other rules
- 23:21around the challenge will still apply. Though most
- 23:24NFL rule changes are announced during the NFL's annual meeting in late March, this one
- 23:28was not. The league is allowed to make some adjustments to the rule book that
- 23:31don't need to be voted on by owners. So I can't fully confirm this,
- 23:34but it does sound like owners didn't vote on this. Um, so that's
- 23:38interesting. I'm assuming it's something along the— listen,
- 23:42I always want to think there's nefarious means behind every single thing, but this
- 23:45one doesn't seem like it. I'm just— are they just trying to make the challenge
- 23:49system a little more efficient and go by quicker? Um,
- 23:52I, you know, I— my thought on this is that it's like wildly
- 23:55unnecessary, which is why you have the, the questions that you're having.
- 23:59Yeah. Um, it really feels like potentially a way to
- 24:03like have teams use their challenges more often. It also seems like a good way
- 24:07to add confusion and problems. Definitely confusion and problems.
- 24:10There's definitely going to be a moment where a head coach is absolutely pissed.
- 24:13Yes, like, like, that's it. Don't want to see. Why is that gonna happen?
- 24:17Um, there, you know, I haven't seen in a weird— I've
- 24:20always looked over the numbers on how many challenges are being,
- 24:24you know, executed every year, which people are most successful with their challenges. I haven't
- 24:28seen any crazy numbers around challenges being like more or less successful.
- 24:32I do wonder if their hope is that by
- 24:36designating certain teams, designating someone rather
- 24:40than having it be the head coach, that there won't be as many of those
- 24:43post- game press conference, like what happened with
- 24:47Dan Campbell last year. It happened with a couple other where they're like ranting and
- 24:50raving about what was and wasn't overturned. That there
- 24:54was a bunch of arguments last season around overturned
- 24:58calls, calls that weren't challenged that should have been, calls that couldn't be challenged,
- 25:03that whatever. And I'm wondering if they are thinking like, well, if he
- 25:06designates some side head coach to do it or side coach to do it,
- 25:09it's not the head coach. Then the post-game press conference can't be them ranting
- 25:13and raving because they weren't the ones who got the challenge. I have no idea.
- 25:17Um, this is gonna be a fucking mess. It is chaotic, and I,
- 25:21I don't, I don't think it's a good idea. I do find I
- 25:24am interested. Oh yeah, like, I'm definitely interested. I'm definitely interested. But I think
- 25:28this is just a mistake to make things more convoluted than they already are.
- 25:31Like, that's, that's the problem with the challenge system. That's the problem with the rules.
- 25:34That's— fuck, that's the problem with pass interference. Like, no one actually
- 25:38knows what the fuck a pass interference is because everything's left for interpretation.
- 25:42You could make a call on probably every single play in the NFL, and then
- 25:46we're just throwing flags to throw flags. Like, it's a real— this
- 25:51is gonna be a problem, dude. I, I will say, uh, great news for Mike
- 25:54McCarthy: if he can hand that off, he should. There's certain coaches where
- 25:58I'm like, hand it off, babe, you suck at this. I don't feel good about
- 26:01anything in the Steelers this year. No, no, no, no. Um, it's so— I cannot
- 26:05believe, by the way, I still can't believe Mike McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers are back
- 26:08together. That's so fucking funny. It is going to be so fucking funny. But I
- 26:11will say, I do think that there's head coaches, like, there's only a few that
- 26:15I can think that would even hand that— that, um, that would even need to
- 26:18or want to hand that off to, uh, a coach that they trust
- 26:22enough to do that. Um, you know, like, Andy Reid
- 26:26has Spags But Andy Reid doesn't need that. Yeah, he doesn't need
- 26:30someone to help him. I look around the league and I'm like, who actually needs
- 26:34this help that badly? And I'm thinking about
- 26:37one head coach that might just, like, need all distractions off his plate, who has
- 26:41a very, very reliable offensive coordinator. Okay.
- 26:44And that is Mike Vrabel with Josh McDaniels.
- 26:48Yeah, he has a lot going on. He's had a lot going on. I wonder
- 26:51if the extra heat of the challenge flag might be better suited for old Joshy
- 26:55this time. I'm going to tell you right now, can I, can I just throw
- 26:57out a prediction? Oh sure. I, I think you guys are gonna have a not
- 27:01a great year this year. I think the Patriots— you were, you were in the
- 27:04room when I made my prediction the other day. I, I have— I'm, I'm giving
- 27:07them 11 wins. I'm impressed by that. I'm giving them closer to 8, and it's
- 27:11not because they're bad. I just think, one, they're not going to have the same—
- 27:14they had a cakewalk of the schedule last year. What are they— what is it?
- 27:17They're playing 4 games just against Jets and Dolphins. That is a huge help.
- 27:21I can't stress that enough. You always got to remember that. Fucking huge help.
- 27:24Okay, I take that back. Maybe they are playing the NFC North So let me
- 27:26get back to 9 wins then, if that's the case. That being said, I don't
- 27:30know, we'll see. Yeah, I, I do— I can definitely see a mild regression.
- 27:33I want to say a mild regression. I'm not saying they're gonna get back to
- 27:35like 4 or 5. Mild regression would be 11 wins. Well, I would, I would
- 27:39say a mild regression. I mean, I see them— 500 is a pretty big regression.
- 27:42I could see them being just on the outside looking in this season. And I
- 27:46do think it's just— there's a vibe issue going on here, man. And if
- 27:49things go wrong quick, you know how loud the fucking voices are gonna be.
- 27:53They could, they could fix it all with the challenge flag designation.
- 27:56You're not wrong, you're not wrong. You know what, I take that back. Fucking 14
- 28:00wins. Um, but like, yeah, they have to play the NFC North.
- 28:03That's fucking nuts. By the way, it's right here in the chat. Isaiah's got a
- 28:07good point. An assistant is going to get fired in November or December when they
- 28:10mess this up in a crucial game. I fucking agree. Like, this is fucking weird,
- 28:14man. It's a huge bummer. I don't love it for them. But now I'm like,
- 28:17now that he says that and I've seen that, yeah, Starting to get
- 28:20kind of excited about it. Yeah, I'm trying to think of like which team's the
- 28:24most likely to scapegoat their staff member, you think? But like,
- 28:28it's just because of the Jets, not because of— not because of their head coach.
- 28:30Yeah, because Aaron Glenn wouldn't do it. Aaron Glenn, their GM might. Somebody would.
- 28:34Yeah, yeah, somebody would. Or, or fucking one of the, the fucking owner's
- 28:39kids might fucking do it. Browns for sure can pull that shit for sure.
- 28:42Yeah, yeah, I could see it. Um, well, well John Harbaugh.
- 28:47John and Jim Harbaughs. Harbaugh squared.
- 28:51You got Harbaughed. That's what's gonna— you know what, if it's— I really hope the
- 28:55first person to get screwed by a challenge is someone that the Harbaughs
- 28:59elected so we can call it getting Harbaughed. That would be great.
- 29:03I love seeing the Harbaughs in pain. It's just so fun for me to see
- 29:07them in pain. It really legitimately brings me joy. The only time I was ever
- 29:10happy to see Jim Harbaugh happy was when Michigan won the title because I've been
- 29:13a Michigan football fan my whole, like, life since I was a little kid.
- 29:16Loved that. Then that was it. He was happy, and that was
- 29:21a byproduct of me being happy. So I was like, I'll allow it. And then
- 29:24day— the next day, I was like, back to hating it. When, when Jim went
- 29:27to the Chargers, I immediately said, oh, thank God, because I fucking hate the Chargers.
- 29:29Yeah, thank God. Oh, and thank God he's never gonna win a Super Bowl.
- 29:32Yeah, I don't have to listen to this ever. I'm really excited because I know
- 29:36Jon's not winning one in New York. Yeah, I hope to God he doesn't,
- 29:39at least. Oh no, based on the team he's got, he got a fucking shot.
- 29:41Remember John Harbaugh, who almost has one Lamar Jackson right
- 29:45now with his running back and quarterback. He thinks Jackson Dart is just as good
- 29:49as Lamar Jackson. They're almost like one Lamar. You know what you had for
- 29:53the last 5 years? If you put them together, they are one. They are one
- 29:56Lamar. If Lamar were asleep while he played football.
- 30:00Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. Moving on to the
- 30:05second of our NFL topics and headline number 4.
- 30:09I think this is so fucking funny. I think this is so funny.
- 30:12Max Crosby and Kirk Cousins fought at Raiders
- 30:16practice, got into a heated altercation on Friday. The 5-time Pro Bowler hit
- 30:20Cousins twice during the team period, which is insane. When Crosby hit Cousins' arm
- 30:25a second time, the 15-year veteran had had enough. Cousins got into Crosby's face,
- 30:28grabbing the edge rusher's jersey while both exchanged words. They— I
- 30:32think they missed the next practice because of this. I can't
- 30:37even begin to tell you how funny this is. By the way, that was actually—
- 30:39that was one of 2 fights. There was also an offensive lineman and defensive Lime
- 30:43and they got into a fistfight, both punched each other like the fucking Raiders,
- 30:46man. We listen. It's not the first time we've seen like intra-team fights.
- 30:50Yeah, but like, but I will say Max Crosby
- 30:53versus Kirk Cousins is the funniest matchup I've ever heard in my life. It is
- 30:56the perfect explanation of how random and stupid
- 31:00the Raiders team is. Yes. Like it's such a goofy situation. First of all,
- 31:03Max Crosby clearly doesn't like Kirk Cousins. Not a great
- 31:08sign when the most famous player on your team, the most successful player on your
- 31:11team, hates your quarterback, and that's very clear. Now, do I think Max Crosby gets
- 31:15along with a lot of people? Probably not. Doesn't feel like he does. Probably not.
- 31:18And yet he does like some people. We've heard it. And you
- 31:23don't hit your quarterback. You don't touch your quarterback in
- 31:27practice. Remember, has anyone seen The Replacements? Remember, red means
- 31:30stop, right? This is just in case everybody, like,
- 31:34thinks it's normal. Like, no, you don't do that
- 31:37ever. But also, you know what? I've never been the biggest Kirk
- 31:41Cousins guy. Hmm. Got to give him some credit for the balls
- 31:45on him because, listen, Max Crosby has his, but Max
- 31:49Crosby would likely rip his fucking throat out. So the balls on Kirk Cousins,
- 31:53this actually might have given me a little extra respect for Kirk Cousins that
- 31:57I didn't know I had. I do think there's a little aura building a little
- 32:01bit. I agree, because I could not give two shits
- 32:05about Kirk Cousins. I've always thought he's overrated. I think his like
- 32:08I'm like the cool guy who wears chains, but I'm Christian, but I'm cool.
- 32:11Has— is like one of the, like, dorkiest, most annoying, cringy things. He is
- 32:14a cringe motherfucker. Yet he was like, bitch, I let you go
- 32:18once, you touch me twice. And Max Crosby is a maniac.
- 32:22Yeah. Not only is he a huge defensive end, but he's also a maniac.
- 32:25Yeah. I'm starting to wonder, does Kirk Cousins have a screw loose that I didn't
- 32:29know about? Absolutely. All quarterbacks do. I mean, but yeah, but like, he was willing
- 32:33to go fucking fight Max Crosby. I gotta
- 32:37say, not a whole lot of quarterbacks, even the ones with a screw loose,
- 32:39wouldn't fucking do that. Perhaps he's trying to set a good example for
- 32:44Fernando Mendoza to sort of be like, always stand up for yourself. Don't take shit.
- 32:48Okay, listen, you know, listen, I will say this whole thing
- 32:51is the most Raiders fucking story I've ever heard. Them both being like suspended the
- 32:55next day is an extra Raiders story that I've ever fucking heard. This team's gonna
- 32:58finish last in the AFC West, and I do think they're going to be better
- 33:01than they have been Yeah. And I do think we're going to take a step
- 33:03in the right direction. But again, like, I now— like, I've been a Max Crosby
- 33:07fan. I've been a Max Crosby defender in this whole thing. I'm like, oh,
- 33:09let's just keep Max Crosby. But like, if this is the shit that's going on
- 33:13and the Freighters aren't going to compete, maybe they should trade him over to
- 33:18Dallas and get their hands on a couple of draft picks. Remember when he was
- 33:21on— wasn't he on the fucking Ravens? Yeah, for a solid
- 33:242 days. Yeah. And then he had to come back. It sounds like he really,
- 33:28he, he, he came this close to playing on a team with Lamar Jackson,
- 33:33and now he's on the Raiders with another probably
- 33:38lame duck head coach. I don't know, I'm actually interested to see
- 33:42what Clint Kubiak can do. Um, I— we'll see, but like, I'm interested. I am
- 33:45the— so offensively, he's going to be good. He's a good offensive play
- 33:49caller. It's giving a little bit Mike McDaniels to me, where I'm like, where I'm
- 33:52like, do, do you have enough Of all the new head coaches, the young
- 33:56white guys they hired to every position, he's the least interesting to me.
- 34:00He is very milquetoast and boring in terms of just like even just his,
- 34:03his like, uh, what I've seen from his coaching and his experience. He's the least
- 34:07interesting to me. I think he would have benefited from staying a little bit longer,
- 34:09maybe. But, but listen, we just came off of Pete Carroll who was fucking 9,000
- 34:14years old. Also, I'm gonna be honest, I did not believe— when I tell you
- 34:17I talked so much shit about the Jaguars hiring Liam Cohen So
- 34:21much shit. Really impressive. Like, that one threw me. I was like, I have
- 34:25to— I had to be like, you know what, my bad. His opening presser like
- 34:29made me go like, wow, this is going to be the worst hire of all
- 34:32time. He just goes up there, Duval, the Duval, and all of that.
- 34:35I couldn't believe it. And just like, he had only been an OC for a
- 34:39year in Tampa. And like, so I have been surprised before.
- 34:43Um, anyway, I will never get over opening that headline,
- 34:47seeing Max Crosby and The shock of reading Kirk Cousins
- 34:51in the headline of who he was fighting, I will never get over how funny
- 34:54that is. I feel like if we had any level of any ability to laugh
- 34:58at things in this day and age, we would have been able to laugh more
- 35:01at it. Unfortunately, there's too much else going on, but that's funny as fuck.
- 35:04No, it's funny as fuck. And again, I didn't think there'd be a world
- 35:07where I'd be like, you know what, maybe Kirk Cousins isn't
- 35:11the worst. Yeah, I mean, I've always thought Kirk Cousins is definitely the
- 35:15worst, but at least he's not He's not a, a pussy.
- 35:19Yeah, at least he's not a little bitch. But like, listen, I don't think he's
- 35:21an amazing quarterback. I think he's going to be a stopgap. I actually on this
- 35:25show said, I think we should go get Kirk Cousins like months before it happened.
- 35:29Right. Because I thought he'd be a good stopgap to give Fernando Mendoza a little
- 35:31bit of time, maybe somebody to learn from if he was willing to do that
- 35:34gig. And clearly he is. Yeah. So you know what? This year is going to
- 35:38be a bit of a shit show, but I'm used to it because I'm a
- 35:41Raider fan. All I know is shit show. So it might as well be a
- 35:44shit show in the right direction. It also is objectively funny and kind of iconic
- 35:47to draft Fernando Mendoza and be like, let's have him mentored
- 35:51by old Fernando Mendoza. Like, that is— that was the right
- 35:55call. And it's very funny. I know a part of me was almost like,
- 35:57why don't you guys just bring back Derek Carr? If we're going to do that,
- 35:59just bring back Derek Carr. Why don't we just continue to employ Philip Rivers?
- 36:03He clearly needs the money. Let him— he needs the insurance, not the money.
- 36:06That's what I'm saying. Specifically, he needs the insurance. Well, insurance— 19 children.
- 36:10It's— that's money. I don't know if you know that. Well,
- 36:13he does have insurance for the next 5 years, to be fair. I know he
- 36:16locked it in. Good for him. Good for me. He might want to play one
- 36:18down to get that 6 the year. Yeah. Yeah. Okay,
- 36:21so the final headline is, is the
- 36:26one I'm kind of the most interested to hear everyone's thoughts about. Fucking missed.
- 36:29I'm just gonna start by saying that this is a disaster.
- 36:33The Bills debuted their new stadium that we've been hearing about,
- 36:37and it's dogshit. This gajillion-dollar stadium,
- 36:41and the complete dogshit. It was filled with 50,000
- 36:45to 60,000 fans of the 80,000 capacity for a preseason thing the
- 36:49other day. Yeah.
- 36:51Everywhere you look. Now,
- 36:54when this said obstructed views at Bills Stadium, I was
- 36:57like, oh no, there's like a section that has some obstructed views. Like, that's bad.
- 37:02It's way worse than that, Cody. Mocha, will you pull up the
- 37:07first of these photos? They are the— Highmark.
- 37:12Okay, so this is Highmark Stadium. This is obstructed view number
- 37:151. Can't even see the fucking field goal post. Can't see that. You just got
- 37:19to look at that guy's shorts. Just sweet legs. Uh, how about the next
- 37:24one? And what a disaster. Not good.
- 37:27Not good, Bob. Not great. If that guy was out of the way, at least
- 37:30you'd sort of see the field somewhat. Big— all right, let's go to the next
- 37:38I mean, such dog shit. That is bad. By the way, can I just
- 37:42point out something before we get to more of the obstructions? How the fuck,
- 37:45how the fuck are all of those seats exposed to
- 37:50the fucking elements? It's Buffalo.
- 37:53What the fuck are you people doing? I thought they were building
- 37:56an indoor stadium. I had no idea they were keeping it. They were at least
- 38:00building an overhang over the seats. They are. There is an overhang over the seats,
- 38:03but not all of them. No, not the underneath ones. The underneath ones are very
- 38:07exposed. Like, this is Buffalo, you know. Fucking snow
- 38:11to the top of all your fucking garages, Buffalo. They love shoveling
- 38:15it out. The fans, they hire the fans. Actually, they don't even hire the
- 38:19fans. The fans go and do out of the kindness of their heart, shovel the
- 38:22goddamn stadium for them. Those idiots all like, what else have they got going on
- 38:25in Buffalo? Unreal. Uh, let's hit some more of those. We gotta, I think we
- 38:28have like 2 more. We have a couple more. I think we have at least
- 38:30one more photo. Yeah. Holy shit. That's bad. What a
- 38:35fucking shit show. That's bad. Is that the last one, Mocha? I believe it is.
- 38:39Yeah. So there's another one too here, Cody. I'm going to show you this one.
- 38:42Look at this. Oh yeah, that's good. That's— I mean, so,
- 38:46uh, this— the account that posted this, which was, um, you know,
- 38:49like the Bills, one of the Bills social media accounts on, you know, the fan
- 38:53accounts on X, was like, so I did the math on where all these are
- 38:57and how many of these obstructed views there would be. Thousands.
- 39:00Thousands of obstructed views. Thousands of obstructed views. He was
- 39:04like, there's no way that they've like This isn't just like, like a couple dozen
- 39:08seats. Did we learn how to build stadiums in like the last 45 minutes?
- 39:10We've been building stadiums in the United States at a high capacity
- 39:14for fucking 70 years. We couldn't figure this shit out.
- 39:17Like, it's really bad. I don't understand. Unreal.
- 39:21Now, correct me if I'm wrong, this stadium
- 39:24was at least partially, if not entirely, financed by the taxpayers.
- 39:28Yes, it had to have been, right? Yes. So they
- 39:31take the taxpayer money already. Some bush league bullshit move by
- 39:35the Pegulas. Then they fucking build
- 39:39it like a bunch of— like, do you know what this is? This is
- 39:43AI. There isn't— that architect, whoever the fuck it was,
- 39:47used AI, and there's no convincing me otherwise. Because what do you mean?
- 39:52How did you fuck that up? Like, this is— you can't just— the bills
- 39:55are like, oh well, we'll figure it out. Those are cement structures,
- 39:59gang. Like, you have— you got real work to
- 40:03do to figure that out. I got the number for you. Okay, would you like
- 40:06to know? So the total of this stadium— now, to the Buffalo Bills' credit,
- 40:09they did put in $850 million themselves.
- 40:12Wow, heroes. Problem is, $850 million also came from
- 40:16the taxpayers. Um, this is a multi-billion dollar enterprise.
- 40:21The fact that a single penny was paid by the taxpayers is
- 40:25a massive problem for me. It makes no sense, regardless of how
- 40:28well the seats are set up. Now, I'll sit around and say there are certain
- 40:31leagues and teams where I say you could do tax tax subsidies. Sure, maybe.
- 40:35Um, but maybe, maybe the WNBA, a league
- 40:39that's on the rise— you're talking about like our, um, anything where the owners themselves
- 40:42aren't— yes, well, the WNBA is billionaires, but, but I will say who owns
- 40:47it's— no, yeah, um, if you have billionaire owners, there's no
- 40:51excuse for this. Yeah, because the MLS tried to do this shit too. Billionaire owners,
- 40:53shut up. I'm just looking like this team is worth probably— I'm just
- 40:57guesstimating— they're probably worth like $5 to $6 billion.
- 41:00They're in the NFL. NFL already, which just is an ATM for
- 41:05every single owner. And we have no idea how much they make because,
- 41:08you know, you know, antitrust laws don't matter anymore. And, um,
- 41:12the fact that the taxpayers had to pay anything for obstructed
- 41:15views and not even a goddamn roofed-over stadium in
- 41:19fucking Buffalo, New York, is just mind-boggling
- 41:23to me. Mind-fucking boggling to me.
- 41:26It's mind-boggling. Um, and Of all, you know, it's just such a
- 41:30fuck you to the fans. It really is. Because these are not— when I say,
- 41:33you know, for them to be able to capture this many obstructed views in different
- 41:37parts of the stadium is incredibly alarming. And this
- 41:41is like, love them or hate them, Bills Mafia is diehard
- 41:45for that stupid fucking team. This team lost 4 Super Bowls in a row and
- 41:49they didn't lose any goddamn— they've been put through the goddamn wringer. Josh Allen
- 41:53refuses to get them to a Super Bowl. He doesn't
- 41:56have pressure, though. No, no, I'm just kidding. I know you guys love Josh Allen.
- 42:00I'm kidding. I actually like Josh Allen quite a bit myself. We like Josh Allen,
- 42:03but that's a funny thing to say, and everybody can laugh if you have a
- 42:05sense of humor. However, uh, what I don't have a sense of humor about is
- 42:08these fans being fucked over by this fucking stadium. I think it's so insane.
- 42:12I do think that the architect used AI. There's no
- 42:16convincing me otherwise. And, um, these billionaires having really like—
- 42:21they're being so— the thing is, they don't actually care because they know that someone's
- 42:24going to sit in those stupid seats. Now, it's one thing to sit in Fenway
- 42:27Park with an obstructed view of a park that was built in the early 1900s.
- 42:30By the way, no obstruction in Fenway Park is
- 42:33even as bad as those ones. No question about it. Behind a pole. Yankee Stadium
- 42:37has some. Yankee Stadium does have some, but they are very few and far
- 42:41in between and they are not very obstructed. And like, all you got to do
- 42:43if you're in— listen, not ideal, but if you're in one of those seats,
- 42:46this will do the trick. That's not doing the trick. No, it's not.
- 42:49There are some— there are some that we just showed you where, like, you cannot
- 42:53sit there. You're going to miss roughly 30% of the game also.
- 42:56And I like— it's like, okay, so, you know, a brand
- 43:00new stadium with no ambiance, your obstructions aren't cute.
- 43:04Like, this is not Wrigley, it's not Fenway. Like, get the fuck off.
- 43:08No, there's no history to this. It's a brand new stadium. You didn't make
- 43:12it look anything special. I'm actually— it's not a cool looking— I'm massively
- 43:16disappointed in every aspect of this stadium because it's a $2 billion
- 43:20stadium. And it looks like any other fucking stadium.
- 43:23The fans and taxpayers paid $850 million for that,
- 43:26and they just deserve way more.
- 43:30Every fan base deserves better than that. But like, man, you're going to do that
- 43:33to Bills fans? Like, there's some fan bases that you can look at and say,
- 43:36like, they've been diehard loyal. I love a Packers fan,
- 43:39like, you know, who's really stuck it out here and there. But like,
- 43:42most by and large, I don't— I'm not like impressed that Packers fans are a
- 43:46fan of the Packers. They have had historic success and always been a really,
- 43:49like, well-liked, well-discussed team in the media.
- 43:53They've always gotten a ton of credit and they've always had good quarterbacks. Like,
- 43:55they literally have 4— like, if Jordan Love ends
- 43:59up being a really good quarterback, that's like insane. Yeah.
- 44:024 decades of great quarterbacking. No question. But it's— but when you look at—
- 44:07that's why I always respect Browns fans,
- 44:10Bills fans, Raiders fans. Yeah. Raiders fans who've been like,
- 44:14their team, by the time you guys die, The team's going to be
- 44:18out of the country. They're going to be the goddamn London Raiders. Probably. I mean,
- 44:22this is a disaster. They never have it. So it just sucks. And I,
- 44:26and I am angry on behalf of— if,
- 44:30if I sat in one of those seats, man, I'd be fucking livid. Furious.
- 44:34Livid. For one, I have to go to Buffalo for it. You know, it was
- 44:37$100. Oh yeah. Like, because I think those were PSL seats, by the way.
- 44:40Like a lot of the— please don't even get me started. Absolute dogshit.
- 44:43Terrible stuff. But what do you say we get over to Media Corner? Because this
- 44:46This is interesting. Yeah. The discourse around the W
- 44:50is just fascinating. And I do, you know, I don't love a lot
- 44:55of Bill Simmons's takes. Yeah. I don't think he's entirely wrong with this
- 44:59take at all. It's just I don't—
- 45:03Bill Simmons is going on and basically said, I will bet anything that the WNBA
- 45:07commissioner, Cathy Engelbert, will be replaced. And here's the
- 45:11thing. I think he's right. But the context of where he's going into
- 45:14it because of all of the stories that are being surrounded by
- 45:18the WNBA is such distraction and distracting from the actual
- 45:22good stories, of which I totally agree with that
- 45:26point. Right. I'm having trouble understanding how it's Kathy Engelbert's
- 45:30fault, though. Right. So the— I will say I found out about
- 45:34this because my friend on Threads was like, me agreeing
- 45:37with Bill is very rare, dot, dot, dot. And it was like,
- 45:40please respect my privacy. At this time. I get that,
- 45:44like, because I don't agree with Bill often, but he is right. I do think
- 45:48Kathy Engelbert is very much on her way out. Yeah, listen, you know the,
- 45:50you know the old Onion heartbreaking, the worst person you know just made a great
- 45:54point? Oh God, I fucking hate him. And he— and the— and it's not— I
- 45:57will say, you know, I don't want to give Bill Simmons too, too much credit.
- 45:59I'll give him credit, but like, it's been pretty clear Kathy's not got a full
- 46:03grip on the league entirely prior to all of this. There was some drama
- 46:07and whatever else. Even like, there's just a lot going on marketing-wise with the team.
- 46:11His point about like, like Olivia Miles is like one of the great young stars
- 46:15in all of sports and you guys are doing fucking nothing with it is a
- 46:18great point. He's not wrong. Um, Cathy herself,
- 46:23I think it's a really hard conversation to have because she's
- 46:27not— I don't super respect her as a commissioner, by the way.
- 46:30Name one I do. I don't. I don't respect commissioners. So this isn't unique
- 46:34to the WNBA. I don't like Roger Goodell. I don't like— I mean, for a
- 46:37while I was okay with Rob Manfred, but he's going to let this shit go
- 46:40down. Don't worry, he's going to really fuck up. Adam Silver has become an absolute
- 46:43supervillain. Don't even get me started on Gary Bettman. So Adam
- 46:48Silver has a lot to do with what Cathy Engelbert is up to in this
- 46:52job. He is really pulling the strings and she has become a
- 46:56puppet. And I'm not sure how willing she is in that other
- 46:59than to say, like, she knows she's fighting for her job. And so, like,
- 47:02she kind of has to do what they're asking her to do. And a lot
- 47:04of this is coming from Adam Silver. Who's positioned himself as sort of the people's
- 47:08commissioner for a while and was clearly full of shit. So that,
- 47:12that was one part of Bill's point that I can't fully get on board with.
- 47:16Not that she's a good owner, but that like this is
- 47:21in some way, shape, or form like we're watching someone sort of autonomously
- 47:24run a league because we're not. It feels like this. It feels like
- 47:28she's the video game character of other people doing this. And all
- 47:31of the evils of the league are being put on her. And by the way,
- 47:35I don't think she's doing an amazing job. Yeah, but I also don't
- 47:40think she's being put in a position to do an amazing job because of all
- 47:44of this shit and all of the distractions in the WNBA,
- 47:49in my opinion. And this is where I disagree with Bill's point.
- 47:53It's not coming from the WNBA. It's coming from everything outside
- 47:57the WNBA, including the ESPNs of the world, including the fucking politicians
- 48:02of the world, including some very, very, very, very— how do I
- 48:06put it— shady players in the WNBA
- 48:09who are taking full advantage of these distractions and then complaining
- 48:13about the distractions that they themselves caused. Sophie Cunningham.
- 48:17Well, to your— yeah, he— so he said, I've never seen a league more determined
- 48:21to not push fun stars and fun storylines and fun people. I'm sort
- 48:26of wondering, you know, Yeah, leagues can absolutely promote their
- 48:29stars, but the media has to play ball.
- 48:33The fans have to play ball. Yes. Do I think that the fans, the real
- 48:37WNBA fans, would love to see more Olivia Miles? And I'm on WNBA
- 48:41threads. Those girls, those women, those men who are really into that sport
- 48:45are— and they're talking about it. Yeah. The media is 60%
- 48:49of this conversation. And Bill himself
- 48:54prizes himself as a basketball media. You do it, Bill.
- 48:58Start it up. And I'm not, I'm not even being a dick about this because
- 49:00I actually think this is not a bad faith take by him. But like,
- 49:04okay, start talking about Olivia Miles. Because here's the thing, start— talk
- 49:08to your boys, talk to your guys all over your— you own a media company.
- 49:12Yeah, start making it. Because we know about
- 49:16the players. And I— and to say like, oh well, WNBA market isn't marketing them—
- 49:20are you watching the games? Can you see the stars? Can you see the the
- 49:23tweets and the threads because it's all there. Talk about it. You know,
- 49:26I'm not— you and I are not basketball media. Yeah,
- 49:30we are MLB media, we are NFL media, and we cover these leagues, but we
- 49:34don't— we're not— we have— at the end of the day, we're all going to
- 49:38have one real beat and niche and then like our side beats and niches,
- 49:41right? And the things that we can really, really cover. So when the Olympics start,
- 49:45like, I become a gymnastics reporter.
- 49:48Like, genuinely, I know that sport in and out. I know so much about
- 49:52it, right? So I'm like, okay, that's going to, going to be like the niche
- 49:55that I adopt. But when it comes to like,
- 49:59like what we are able— the kind of conversations we're able to initiate on
- 50:02this show, you know, we don't have an established
- 50:07reputation enough to talk about Olivia Miles and make everybody
- 50:10care. Like, that's just not our— that requires somebody like Bill Simmons.
- 50:14Honestly, yeah. Yeah, he can. He owns, as you said, he owns a media company.
- 50:18Fucking make a whole WNBA show. Like, have multiple WNBA
- 50:22shows. And by the way, if he were talking about it and pushing it,
- 50:24if The Ringer were talking about and pushing those, those stories and successfully,
- 50:28then you and I are the kind of like, then we can make complementary
- 50:32programming to those types of things, just like we do with other things that are
- 50:35maybe outside our niche but still within our niche of sports. Can I also tell
- 50:38you, like, there's also— I don't think this is bad faith by Bill. I want
- 50:42to make this abundantly clear, this is how I'm going to phrase this. But in
- 50:44no way do I think this is bad faith by Bill at all, because I—
- 50:47but I do think he is aware that even though I completely agree
- 50:51with his thing on specifically Nefisa Collier, couldn't agree more. Should be at
- 50:55the top of every single WNBA story, but isn't. But you
- 51:00know what would happen if she was? We're going to hear all of the
- 51:03same assholes who are trying to bastardize the WNBA with words like DEI and shit
- 51:07like that. Literally, that's what's going to happen. And then we're going to
- 51:11be battling that nonsense. Like, that's what's going to take place,
- 51:15not like might take place. That's exactly what will fucking happen.
- 51:19And everyone's like, why aren't you talking about the real stars like Caitlin Clark?
- 51:23That's literally, not figuratively,
- 51:26literally what will take place. And then we're gonna have to deal with that shit
- 51:29show. And like, there is no winning in this scenario. That's a really
- 51:34good point and very well taken because Part of this is a disingenuous
- 51:38thing that I think we do in the media that you and I have probably
- 51:42been guilty of, which is like, why aren't we talking about this thing? But the
- 51:45reality is, no matter how much anybody does try to push the
- 51:50great players in this league right now, it is going to be overrun
- 51:54by the, the fans and the bad actors and the
- 51:58media who are actively working against it. So you can blame
- 52:02Kathy Engelbert, you can blame the WNBA for their mistakes, Fine. But I
- 52:06know where Kathy was getting all her grief last year, and it was
- 52:09about them not putting Caitlin Clark in— like,
- 52:13you know, they were— every time she didn't foreground Caitlin Clark,
- 52:17Colin Cowherd and Stephen A. Smith and, and Pat McAfee would tell
- 52:21her she was a fucking idiot who was blowing it with her cash cow if
- 52:24she didn't make Caitlin Clark the center of attention. The media flipped out.
- 52:27I watched it over and over and over again, and it was a lazy take.
- 52:31And now I've got— I don't know where this came from, but some
- 52:35idiot in the media, perhaps many, must have told a bunch of fucking idiots
- 52:39that Sophie Cunningham is the most efficient WNBA
- 52:43player of all time. I have seen this in no less than 50
- 52:48comments on Threads. Fucking what? So now Sophie— now they're
- 52:51just straight up lying about Sophie Cunningham might be out of the league basketball-wise in
- 52:55a year and a half, maybe. I don't think she's going to next year.
- 52:57She's not really good. I don't— and, and because she's become
- 53:01a more efficient 3-point shooter, she has like a higher efficiency rate, but she doesn't
- 53:04play that much. And she like— it's not like she's like a starter, right?
- 53:07And she's also not even close to the most efficient basketball player in the history
- 53:11of the WNBA. So again, so you can— the misinformation and
- 53:14the, and the real battle is happening, and it can't
- 53:18be ignored just because we would love— and I'm not gonna blame the
- 53:22marketing department of the WNBA for, again,
- 53:25an unprecedented influx
- 53:29of racism, transphobia, misogyny, and fascist white supremacy
- 53:33into a league's fan base and media. I recall
- 53:37wanting to talk about something other than Colin Kaepernick kneeling in the
- 53:422016 season. Oh man. Boy, oh boy. I recall wanting to turn on ESPN
- 53:46and read anything other than Tom Brady deflated footballs and Colin Kaepernick is,
- 53:50is kneeling and he should be out of the league. It was everywhere
- 53:54all the fucking time. If you even wanted to add
- 53:59all— this is the NFL, they could have controlled the narrative all they wanted.
- 54:02The narrative was controlled. The narrative was, we're about to blackball
- 54:06Colin Kaepernick, so we're gonna make sure all those media that say Colin Kaepernick's actually
- 54:10not that good at football get highlighted, right? We're gonna make sure everybody hears
- 54:13those takes. Now, FiveThirtyEight screaming from the rooftops that they did all the fucking metrics
- 54:18and analytics they could possibly do and it made no sense for Colin Kaepernick to
- 54:21be a free agent after— in August of 2017, it made no sense
- 54:25that he wasn't signed. There had never been a free agent of his caliber at
- 54:28his age of— at that position to not be signed.
- 54:31That didn't matter. The narratives become what the narratives all,
- 54:35like, become. And you had 2 choices at that point: ignore that
- 54:39Colin Kaepernick was the biggest story in the NFL or talk about
- 54:43it. So to your point,
- 54:46If we, if we act like we can just talk
- 54:51about whatever we want in the WNBA and people are going to listen,
- 54:54that's simply not the case. We have a job to do, and it's a fucking
- 54:57lie. And there are plenty of accounts, by the way, plenty of
- 55:01people doing— smaller content creators, smaller beat reporters, or people
- 55:06who are talking the ins and outs and doing great jobs. And I'm— guess what
- 55:09I'm doing? Engaging with their content, reposting it, sharing it,
- 55:13following them. But you and I cannot get on here and act like,
- 55:18great, let's do an Olivia Miles segment. Let's see what our fucking comments look like.
- 55:22It doesn't help. No, it doesn't. And by the way, it doesn't mean we don't
- 55:25like talking about— we want to talk about it. The problem is, yeah, and we
- 55:28will. Some— she's going to be out of the league. Caitlin Clark's going to be
- 55:31put in her place, figure her shit out. I have to hope that that's what's
- 55:34going to happen. Fuck Sophie Cunningham. She's out. Fuck her. Like, the one
- 55:38thing that she has been good for is that I'm no longer that mad at
- 55:41Caitlin Clark. Right now I'm distracted because that—
- 55:45if you are going to be a fucking— if you're going to be an absolute
- 55:47pain in my ass with these storylines, if you're going to be a
- 55:51trash person who can't stand up for people when you know that your name is
- 55:54being used for bigotry, at the very least, be very good at basketball. Listen,
- 55:57I'm just telling you, at least be very good at basketball, but be trash at
- 56:01basketball too. Well, let's be real clear. There is some good news in this.
- 56:03Some good news. We're not going to hear much from Riley Gaines in one year.
- 56:06In one year, Riley Gaines will be gone entirely because she will be replaced by
- 56:10Sophie Cunningham because like, oh, we actually have someone who's played in an actual league
- 56:14that is actually not just only coming 5th in a— in a— now, am I
- 56:17happy that Sophie Cunningham is going to eventually become this new, uh,
- 56:21Fox News host that's going to be spouting all kinds of bullshit?
- 56:24Absolutely not. Am I annoyed that she's going to be on Gutfeld and, and we're
- 56:28going to like fucking see dipshit clips of 5 people who should never
- 56:32be taken seriously a day in their lives? Absolutely not. But am I happy we're
- 56:35not going to see Riley Gaines ever again? Fuck yes, I am very excited for
- 56:39that. There can only be one. There can only be one blonde transphobe
- 56:43on Fox News really as the mouthpiece. Yep. And yeah, we found our girl.
- 56:47Yeah. So there you go. So congratulations to that. Sorry.
- 56:51No, really not sorry that Riley Gaines will be gone. I think the, you know,
- 56:55they're— what's his name? Royce. Not Royce O'Neal.
- 56:59I'm not even going to say his real name. I think he's attempting drag
- 57:03as part of his little his little stunt. Okay, so maybe they'll have him in,
- 57:07in his, um, drag wig too. Maybe she can have sort of
- 57:11do a tag team situation with— well, I, I hope he goes
- 57:14the full way and chops his dick off. And well, you know, Sophie Cunningham at
- 57:18this point probably deserves to, um, hang out with a guy who clearly
- 57:22beats his wife. Yes. Well, I, I hope she has fun with that. So I
- 57:25hope this works out well for everybody involved. Um, let's continue on our
- 57:29little media corner because, uh, Boy, oh boy, we went fucking viral
- 57:33this week, huh? Sure did. I mean, listen, it did really, really well on our
- 57:37accounts. Our videos about the NFL rankings last week and
- 57:41then specifically about Jalen Hurts and Lamar Jackson and
- 57:44the article around how much pressure they're under in 2026 did really
- 57:47well on all the platforms we posted. We love that. We gained a lot of
- 57:50followers. We are loving all the feedback that people are giving and the fact that
- 57:54they're feeling not only, you know, represented and understood, but that they're enjoying the content
- 57:58itself. Really excited about that. Yes, me too. Um,
- 58:02it's also gone— like, the reason it is such a popular video
- 58:06is because it's being disseminated across the internet in places that are not being posted
- 58:11by you and I, of which we're not being tagged, which is some fucking bullshit.
- 58:14For instance, I just found out literally 20 minutes— and I'm not kidding, 20 minutes
- 58:19before the show— the clip has been going fucking apeshit specifically on Twitter,
- 58:22which, by the way, I used to be very popular on Twitter, but I don't
- 58:25fuck with Twitter anymore because it's become a massive cesspool and probably the worst of
- 58:28the sites, right? But I was happy to see that it's got 500,000 views,
- 58:31so I went ahead and quote tweeted it because somebody said, these 2 cooked with
- 58:35this one, tag us, bitch. What the fuck? Um, so I decided to
- 58:39quote tweet and say, yes, we did. Um, that's got 500,000 views
- 58:43on our account on Instagram. It's got a nice 225,000 views.
- 58:47I've seen a couple other spots on TikTok where it's not our tag in there
- 58:51where it's got a ton of views, so I'm glad the content is getting out
- 58:54there. I just don't like that people are stealing our content. So this is the
- 58:58thing is what's bothering me, and this is part— this is in Media Corner because
- 59:02this is a massive problem that podcasters and content creators are experiencing across the
- 59:06internet. You and I are not the only ones. We are in the majority of
- 59:09people who are experiencing this. Um, but when you're growing an organic brand
- 59:13from the ground up, grassroots promoting it, um, it's incredibly harmful
- 59:17because what happens is all throughout the comment section are people being
- 59:21like, who are these 2? Where can I follow them? Where's the podcast?
- 59:24What's the podcast? And of course, the people who
- 59:28are ripping the content are not answering that question. Now, we have great
- 59:32Samaritans, followers, viewers who are doing that work as often
- 59:36as they can when they see it ripped. Yes, very cool. Incredible allies on that
- 59:39front. Um, and I've had multiple people tell me that they're making sure people know
- 59:42and trying to tag me in it. So that's how I was able to go
- 59:45to to Twitter and find it, um, because I also don't use Twitter. I have
- 59:49an active Twitter, so I was, I, I was tagged in one of them.
- 59:52Um, Isaiah just said, I stumbled upon y'all via a Reddit link.
- 59:56So, okay, apparently it's popular on Reddit. Fuck it, I'm not even on Reddit.
- 59:59And Reddit does, um, also do that too, but usually on Reddit, I— he's
- 1:00:04saying they found us via a link, which means Reddit linked us.
- 1:00:07So fine, phenomenal work. Fine, right? Like, I don't mind that at
- 1:00:11all. Promote us by linking or tagging.
- 1:00:14That is— that's the coolest thing, is that like, hey,
- 1:00:17and hey, if, if while you're at it you garner like 20,000
- 1:00:22views and make a few bucks and you've linked us and you've promoted us,
- 1:00:25thank you. Great. I'm not going to be a fucking fascist about this.
- 1:00:28I don't care. Like socialism, let's spread the wealth. But you
- 1:00:32cannot— you cannot. So this is— I want to show you an example of
- 1:00:36perhaps the most egregious one that I found. And by the way, this probably not
- 1:00:39the only one that did this. Mocha, will you pull up the screenshots
- 1:00:43of, uh, this video that was posted to TikTok? Dude, fucking one,
- 1:00:47your makeup is fucking on point because you look, you look fucking fantastic
- 1:00:50in that shot. Fucking zoomed the fuck in and some sort
- 1:00:54of fucking 100 times zoom on the face card holding up really
- 1:00:58well. Good job on your makeup. Really good. Thank you so much. And then,
- 1:01:01uh, well, let's go over to Cody. There's— there
- 1:01:05he is, right up in the mix, right on your face. Now granted, not,
- 1:01:08not as attractive, but I'll take it. I disagree. I think our face cards are
- 1:01:10both holding up really well zoomed in from— I
- 1:01:15mean, like, you could practice— practically see our pores if this didn't have a
- 1:01:19filter on it, right? Um, but what I love about this is the Pro Fantasy
- 1:01:22Football watermark on our zoomed-in faces
- 1:01:26covering up our own fucking watermark. Oh no, there's a watermark
- 1:01:30there, Cody, because They zoomed in so far that you don't even
- 1:01:33have— so what, what this guy was trying to do was he was trying
- 1:01:37to not only not show the regular thing behind you, not show our
- 1:01:41watermark, no identifying features. So, I mean,
- 1:01:44there was a purposeful way about it. Yes, it was. That's straight up stealing our
- 1:01:48shit. Full up, full on. Like, I want people to think this is, this is
- 1:01:51my account and me saying this, or these are my people. By the way,
- 1:01:54is that on TikTok? Where is that? It's on TikTok. I barely fuck with TikTok.
- 1:01:57I'll go on TikTok and comment on this motherfucker. So they— I mean, people and
- 1:02:00alerted the— oh no, you know what's even crazier? What's up? No one on
- 1:02:04TikTok even alerted me to that. They hadn't seen it yet. I— someone had—
- 1:02:08okay, this is what's so annoying. Someone had pulled that video from TikTok,
- 1:02:12posted it to Threads, also not credited because they didn't know who we
- 1:02:16were. So then somebody on Threads was like, hey, that's Tiny Ray Fox,
- 1:02:20that's the regulars, blah blah blah. And then I went to TikTok and found it
- 1:02:23and then commented on it. But like, this is— to throw your own watermark
- 1:02:27Now you're getting a copyright violation. I'm— I don't care how— yeah,
- 1:02:31TikTok's not good at it. They might not do anything, but like, I'm at least—
- 1:02:34that's the kind of shit that really pisses me off. So my point is like,
- 1:02:38here's the thing people say to me all the time, and increasingly us
- 1:02:42now that they know our podcast. I'm sure they've said this to you before.
- 1:02:46Why aren't you guys like— why isn't this show a bigger deal? Like, why— you
- 1:02:49guys should be on ESPN. You should be First Take. You should be these things.
- 1:02:52Now, Grant, we've both been in, in traditional media. We've both done the thing.
- 1:02:56Um, that is not going to
- 1:03:00happen. No universe. Because of the type of content we do. But what
- 1:03:04can happen is you— we can build enough of a platform
- 1:03:08where we can monetize our platform, or we can be paid
- 1:03:12for the work, good work that people say that we do. And then you wouldn't
- 1:03:15need ESPN. You don't need ESPN. YouTube is just as acceptable. But what's not
- 1:03:19going to happen is us being able to monetize and really be able
- 1:03:23to do what we want to do with this show and make it into something
- 1:03:26that can supplant and, and, and replace the content that you don't love if
- 1:03:29you're gonna fucking steal our shit? Yeah, like, stop.
- 1:03:32Everybody's out there complaining that nothing good is— there's no good sports
- 1:03:36media, everybody sucks, blah blah blah. And then they're gonna come and,
- 1:03:39and take this. Hey guys, if you
- 1:03:43want us to be successful, you have to help us be successful. And I'm not
- 1:03:46saying this to our viewers, they're super— no, our viewers are amazing. They'll be the
- 1:03:49first people to like help monetize us when we figure out how we're going to
- 1:03:53continue to build this show. But like, this is— it's so
- 1:03:57frustrating for all content creators. Like, we have to respect
- 1:04:01the, the social contract of giving each other credit and making sure everybody knows where
- 1:04:05to find the content so that— because we can all be making money. Yeah.
- 1:04:08Why do we all act like— like, you didn't have to cut my— our faces
- 1:04:10off. You didn't have to throw pro fantasy football Philly bullshit
- 1:04:15over our faces. You could have pulled that video and like
- 1:04:19God forbid you stitch it and have an opinion, by the way. God forbid you
- 1:04:23make your own content. I'm not even asking you to make your own content.
- 1:04:26That would be too much. What I'm asking you to do is a great clip
- 1:04:30from the Regulars podcast, great clip from Tanya Ray Fox,
- 1:04:34great clip from Cody Decker, so that people can find us. That's it. That's all.
- 1:04:37I'm letting you monetize our shit because you don't have your own opinions.
- 1:04:41I literally just want you to fucking credit us. That's it. Because quite frankly,
- 1:04:44like our grassroots nature of this show. And I got to tell you,
- 1:04:48like, I'm really proud of what we're doing. I'm proud of the content that we're
- 1:04:51doing. I'm proud of the work that we're doing. I'm proud of the, of the
- 1:04:54followers that we have gained. I'm proud of the people that are joining our little
- 1:04:57pirate fucking ship that we are fucking out here sailing on. Because you're right,
- 1:05:00this, this show will never ever see the light of day on ESPN,
- 1:05:04never ever see the light of day on Fox Sports. We both worked
- 1:05:08at Fox Sports. We know the content they do. It ain't this. And that's why
- 1:05:11we're doing this show. That's why we're doing this. It's almost like an— it's almost
- 1:05:15like, uh, more or less us punching back at the industry that we think
- 1:05:19is honestly doing a disservice to its fans and, and sports fans.
- 1:05:23Um, we love this and we want— we're going to continue doing
- 1:05:27this for a long— what are we, 5 months into doing it? 4 months into
- 1:05:29doing this? No, we're— we are, uh, 6 months? 5 months and a half,
- 1:05:33I think. And I, I have to say, this is one of my favorite things
- 1:05:36I've ever been a part of doing, because I really think the
- 1:05:40work we're doing is good and more importantly
- 1:05:44important. Yeah, because I feel like we're covering shit that others won't,
- 1:05:48and we're speaking very honestly about it, and especially the things that
- 1:05:52are taking place in the media world, because the media world is just the wrestling
- 1:05:55industry. Well, that's the thing is we also like— about— you can
- 1:05:58rip our content all you want, but what you can't do is manufacture our combined
- 1:06:03like 30-plus years of experience playing sports and covering sports.
- 1:06:07And when we talk about the media, like, you don't get media critique from places,
- 1:06:11from other podcasts like we're doing it. That's— now, I'm not saying nobody else does
- 1:06:15it, but not like we're doing it. And certainly there's not a lot of podcasts
- 1:06:18with our level of experience. And so, you know, yeah, currently there
- 1:06:22was a comment. It was really cute on our most recent video where it was
- 1:06:25like, remember me when y'all blow up? Like, I just like— I want you guys
- 1:06:28to remember that I was here this year early. And I was like, I will.
- 1:06:31I actually will. Well, real quick, Zion the Meek just says, been lurking. And hope
- 1:06:34you guys continue. Excellent show and work. We're not going anywhere.
- 1:06:38I want to make that abundantly clear. We are here to stay. And the reality
- 1:06:41is, the reality is we are going to blow up. Like,
- 1:06:44that— I— and I don't— I'm not saying that as like a,
- 1:06:47like a brag or like being overly confident.
- 1:06:51We're going to. The ma— it's a matter of time.
- 1:06:54Even, even if my friend Joe Ciarallo is trying to replace me. Joe, stop trying
- 1:06:58to replace me. What are you doing? Yeah, Joe was like, I mean, I'll I'll
- 1:07:00fill in for Cody. Yeah, it's my studio. He's— well,
- 1:07:04I'd have to adjust the shot. He's so tall, I'd have to figure out how
- 1:07:07to get him in there.
- 1:07:10Um, but yeah, so I like— we're gonna— and I do think it's gonna be
- 1:07:14a successful show, and I— and it already is. Like, we are
- 1:07:18already doing so well. But at the end of the day, this is less
- 1:07:22about me being worried that we're gonna succeed. We're going to. This show is going
- 1:07:25to succeed. It's more about people understanding that when you want something to
- 1:07:29succeed, and not just a show, but a type of content that is independent of
- 1:07:32major media companies, you need to not only support
- 1:07:37it in the ways that you do, but when you share it, to correctly,
- 1:07:41you know, attribute it. Because I do
- 1:07:45it all the time. If I even name a person who wrote an article,
- 1:07:49I'm making sure that I'm shouting out who wrote it and from where. We have
- 1:07:52to do better about that with each other while we— while these corporations
- 1:07:56have taken everything over. We have to do better about it. I don't think that
- 1:07:59people doing this— I don't even think Pro Fantasy Football Guy was trying
- 1:08:02to be a piece of shit. I don't think he was either. Just become— it's
- 1:08:05become very self-centered and focused, and we have to
- 1:08:09think a little bit more broadly about what we're doing. When I promote people's stuff,
- 1:08:12I promote their stuff, and I, you know,
- 1:08:16I would suggest people not rip other people's content entirely
- 1:08:20and post it as if it's their own. But if you're gonna do
- 1:08:23it, you know, say this is from Tanya Ray Fox and Cody Decker,
- 1:08:27this is from The Regulars. Okay, fine. And if you make a couple bucks on
- 1:08:30it and I make a couple bucks on it too, you know,
- 1:08:33we'll hit you when the trademark is
- 1:08:37there. And yeah, but I can't stress enough, and I'm not saying this
- 1:08:41because you're here, like, Tanya, I love working with you. I think what we're doing
- 1:08:43is phenomenal. I love— I really— I look forward to doing this
- 1:08:48show every single time we do it. I'm, I'm going to Hawaii next
- 1:08:52week on vacation. I, I, I'm sad I'm missing the show. In fact, I'm going
- 1:08:55to try and convince you to tape 2 extra shows this week so we can
- 1:08:58just play them next week as evergreen content. Like, we'll do a— we'll do
- 1:09:02a show where we, uh, don't really talk about anything topical.
- 1:09:06I mean, we can. I'm just saying it's a great idea because we— there's a
- 1:09:09bunch of stuff we could do a full throw, like Oh, I could— this
- 1:09:13would be such an exciting thing for me. We could try something different. I'm just
- 1:09:15saying. So maybe— well, no, but I mean, in general, I'm just gonna— I'm
- 1:09:19just gonna miss you. I'm gonna miss you too. I always miss you for 2
- 1:09:22weeks and then this is— okay, this— I was thinking, this is the first time
- 1:09:25that you're leaving instead of me because I've been on multiple trips since
- 1:09:29we started the show. We've done, um, we've done remote shows for a couple trips,
- 1:09:32which by the way turned out really— with the exception of missing out on mocha,
- 1:09:35I fucking loved our remote. Yeah, yeah. I don't like them nearly as much as
- 1:09:38as these shows all the time. We did a great job because we're professionals and
- 1:09:41they came out really well. Being in person with you is— that
- 1:09:45you can't— that type of feeling and chemistry cannot be replicated
- 1:09:50via Zoom. Yeah, no matter what people try to say, because we are ADHD and
- 1:09:54talk over each other a lot, which is like much easier in person than it
- 1:09:56is on camera because it's more of a conversation. And I do love that some
- 1:09:59people get mad that we talk over each other, but that's what I actually also
- 1:10:02love about this show because it's an actual actual conversation. It's an actual conversation
- 1:10:06of 2 people that work in this industry who are very fed up with this
- 1:10:10piece of shit industry, and we can't help but talk over each other because we're
- 1:10:14both very fucking passionate about how shitty this industry is. It's really funny
- 1:10:18because the first time that it happened, people were on you about it, and then
- 1:10:20the last time it happened, people were on me about it. People were like,
- 1:10:22would you stop talking over him? No, we talk over each other. That's what
- 1:10:27friends do at a bar. We try very hard not to fully interrupt
- 1:10:31the middle of a thought. I think we do a really good job at that.
- 1:10:33We're both quite professional. And I also think there's a lot of people who think
- 1:10:37that they would be great on a microphone until they're in front of one,
- 1:10:40right? Like, oh boy, there's a lot of— oh boy, there's a lot of Monday
- 1:10:44morning quarterback. There's a lot of backseat drivers. Yeah. Who are like,
- 1:10:47what? And then you put them on a mic across from you and you'd be
- 1:10:50like talking to a goddamn pet rock, dude. It's— I got very lucky how I
- 1:10:54kind of got my start in the radio industry. Yeah, like very lucky. Like,
- 1:10:56I've been very lucky in all my shit. Like, I started in radio
- 1:11:00at the age of 16. Yeah, I was a frequent caller
- 1:11:04into KLOS out here in Los Angeles, a show called Mark and Brian,
- 1:11:07and they had no idea I was 16. They thought I was like in my
- 1:11:1030s. I love this. And I was constantly calling in, talking so much shit and
- 1:11:14just making jokes. I was calling about baseball. And one person on the show actually
- 1:11:17knew who I was because he worked out of my gym and I was like
- 1:11:19this up-and-coming local baseball star. Absolutely. And then I eventually,
- 1:11:23you know, went to UCLA and then Mark and Brian became
- 1:11:28became my friend. And Mark specifically became my friend and honestly my radio mentor.
- 1:11:30Hired me during when I was at UCLA. Really cool. And then when I got
- 1:11:33to pro ball, like when I got drafted, I got to announce it on their
- 1:11:36show. I got the— you know, they came out and saw me
- 1:11:40play professionally. Mark used to come to my college games, and then he hired me
- 1:11:43when I was playing for the Padres in the offseasons to work on his new
- 1:11:47show at 100.3 The Sound, which is a station that doesn't exist anymore.
- 1:11:50So I got my start like in morning radio at the age
- 1:11:53of 16, and then I got a job in it at the age of like
- 1:11:5623 while I'm playing professional baseball. The crash course
- 1:12:00I got in sports media while being an actual athlete at the time was
- 1:12:03staggering because it wasn't sports media. I was getting a crash course in media
- 1:12:07along with my past film school work that I'd already done,
- 1:12:10and I'd already been a part of a theater company. So I had this very
- 1:12:14unique upbringing around the media industry. I've been
- 1:12:18exceedingly lucky, exceedingly lucky. But I do
- 1:12:22know how to handle a fucking microphone, and I've learned that because I
- 1:12:25got to be in front of a microphone at a very young age, and I
- 1:12:28got to learn from fucking 5 Radio Hall of Famers. Yeah, I'm also
- 1:12:33aware that's not a normal thing. Yeah, so I'm very fucking lucky,
- 1:12:36to say the least. The thing is, like, a lot of people have— because the
- 1:12:39average person can pick up the front-facing camera and become, you know,
- 1:12:42really successful talking on their camera to themselves. People have decided
- 1:12:47that they're experts on how to communicate when a microphone and
- 1:12:51cameras and lights are set up. And it's a very different thing.
- 1:12:54I do both. But this, this thing is a very different thing
- 1:12:58than saying, I'm just gonna talk to myself in the camera. They're 2 different vibes.
- 1:13:02They're 2 different skill sets. And one requires
- 1:13:06a lot more, like you said, experience on how to do these things,
- 1:13:09how to keep a show flowing. Like, you and I hit the same mark almost
- 1:13:13like within minutes almost every show without even— without a timer. We don't have a
- 1:13:17producer in our ears. That's instinct, which, God, I love, you know.
- 1:13:20And I know, God, I love not having a producer in my ear. And the
- 1:13:23reality is, uh, most people could not do what we do.
- 1:13:26So if you're— if you're annoyed by the interrupting,
- 1:13:30um, you know, that's— we're— then we're not for you, you know. That's totally fine.
- 1:13:34Absolutely, we're not for you. Um, but also You know, it's really funny because they'll
- 1:13:38see like the most animated clip of like an hour and a half podcast.
- 1:13:40I'm like, we go on monologues where the other one's not talking for
- 1:13:44fucking minutes at a time. We're usually listening to each other. It's just there are
- 1:13:47some moments where we both get hot that we haven't— we have to get our
- 1:13:50points in, which is like, because we're going to forget them. Like, have you ever
- 1:13:53heard sports radio? Like, I grew up listening to Boston sports radio. I don't think
- 1:13:57one person ever finished a sentence before the next. Yeah, I think every single thing
- 1:14:00ended with, no, fuck you. No, fuck you. Before the last
- 1:14:05sentence was over, the next one was starting from the next guy. And that's— I
- 1:14:08was like, okay, that's— yeah, but we love Brady. Yeah, fucking Brady. There,
- 1:14:11there's all Boston radio for 25 years. So one time someone found
- 1:14:15out, like, every, every— I tell you this, every couple few months, uh, people figure
- 1:14:18out that I'm a Patriots fan because I— because people don't realize it because I'm
- 1:14:21really good at my job. And, and,
- 1:14:25uh, somebody said, said whatever. I was like, listen, yes,
- 1:14:29I'm a Patriots fan. I, I'm, you know, I was like, I am,
- 1:14:32I am not insufferable Patriots fan. I'm insufferable adjacent. I know a lot
- 1:14:36of babies and dogs named Brady, and I will give you that,
- 1:14:39but like, I'm not one of those, you know. It's really funny though,
- 1:14:42because like, yeah, there's just, there's just some stuff you can't deny. And,
- 1:14:46um, every once in a while the, the Boston accent comes out too. Uh,
- 1:14:49by the way, it says right here, y'all are a mess. I fucking totally
- 1:14:53agree with you. We're a mess. Yeah, we're a mess, but like it's only because
- 1:14:56we drink a lot. Oh, that— I see who it is. He's being a brat
- 1:14:59now. I know who the fuck that is. Oh, fuck you. Ah, fuck you.
- 1:15:02Say Boston radio. We just did it. That's OG. He's being a dick. That's fine.
- 1:15:06That's kind of fucking, fucking dick. Yeah, no, that's, that's, um, that's some good-natured
- 1:15:10East Coast ribbing that's going on right there. That's really funny. When you show me,
- 1:15:14I always have to like see who the handle is, and then I'm like,
- 1:15:16oh, I see. Um, all right, shout— I mean, thank you for, thank you for
- 1:15:20tuning in. Genuinely, that's what— we thank everybody for tuning in today. It's been a
- 1:15:24lot of fun. So so far. And, uh, it's in the chat. I just want
- 1:15:26to go ahead and throw this out there because I don't think we mentioned it
- 1:15:28the other day, so we, we should. Okay. Uh, Mocha, when was
- 1:15:32your birthday, bud? Uh, July 17th.
- 1:15:36We missed it. Yeah, we did. Well, we were— I was gone. That's right,
- 1:15:40you were gone, so we completely missed it. So Mocha, I would like to officially
- 1:15:44say happy belated birthday on the air. Happy belated birthday on the
- 1:15:48air. He is a— he's a Cancer. I don't— do you, do you know about
- 1:15:51your astrology sign, Mocha? Oh, I thought you were just calling him a Cancer.
- 1:15:55I'm like, I agree, he's a fucking Cancer. He's a Cancer and a blight on
- 1:15:58this show. Yeah. Do you know about your astrology sign?
- 1:16:02I know about Cancer. Yeah. My, my little sister's birthday is
- 1:16:06July 20th. She's also a Cancer, but she was born— she's a couple of years
- 1:16:09older than you because you're '98. Yeah. Yeah. She's '95. So we
- 1:16:15like Cancers. What was that Bo Burnham joke that I really love so much?
- 1:16:18My grandmother was a— was a, uh, uh, the sign was a Cancer,
- 1:16:21which is really crazy because she was actually killed by a
- 1:16:25giant crab. Nice. Like, good joke, good joke.
- 1:16:28I love a good— I got a well-written joke. Uh, we did it.
- 1:16:32Our pop culture corner was us talking about ourselves, which I love for us.
- 1:16:35Dude, I fucking love that. I love when we get to have a self-centered chat
- 1:16:40where we're just like, hey, how good are we? We are so fucking good.
- 1:16:43We're so good. God, we're so good at this job. We didn't get to the
- 1:16:46bloody sock and all the things around Curt Schilling. Yeah, I mean, you— but I
- 1:16:48mean, most of the people in the chat know the bloody sock was real iconic.
- 1:16:51Wasn't real and fake. And Curt Schilling fucking sucks. I mean, listen, we are
- 1:16:55never going to end a show where I agree that the bloody sock wasn't
- 1:16:59real. What I'm always going to agree with, as long as you guys like,
- 1:17:02share, and subscribe, is that, um, fuck Curt Schilling. Oh,
