- 0:09Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to episode seventeen of Ourvellio for April seventeenth,
- 0:14Speaker 1: twenty twenty five. I'm Amy, I'm Nicole, and I'm Tom.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Welcome back, Tom, Yes, thank.
- 0:36Speaker 3: You, yay.
- 0:37Speaker 4: Excited to be back. Yeah, the original trio.
- 0:42Speaker 1: That's right, the Golden Trio Rio.
- 0:45Speaker 4: Yes, we have our own little Golden Trio here.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:49Speaker 4: Exciting. So I'm excited to be back. And I missed
- 0:52Speaker 4: you guys, but it's been a hectic a couple months
- 0:56Speaker 4: just getting everything sorted and settled, and yeah, excited to
- 1:00Speaker 4: be back in a new chapter in my life. So yeah, awesome.
- 1:06Speaker 1: And you're going to gather us all sorts of great
- 1:08Speaker 1: port key segments.
- 1:11Speaker 4: Yes, I can't wait for that, Like I wish I
- 1:13Speaker 4: had a go one right now. But yeah, hopefully towards
- 1:18Speaker 4: the summer, we're going to get started. Either we're going
- 1:20Speaker 4: to get a better like, you know, better weather conditions.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Tom's sight Seeing Adventures.
- 1:28Speaker 4: Yes, yes, I need to go to the Goblet of Fire. Yes, yes, yes, yes,
- 1:36Speaker 4: so yeah, looking forward.
- 1:39Speaker 2: We're excited to have you back.
- 1:42Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Just realized too, we're episode seventeen. We're releasing on the seventeenth.
- 1:46Speaker 2: That's really fine.
- 1:48Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Yeah. And also so the day that we're recording this
- 1:52Speaker 2: as well, so today's Record store Day, and Amy, Tom
- 1:55Speaker 2: and I have been in our group chat all morning
- 1:57Speaker 2: as we're hunting for the Harry Potter vinals today and.
- 2:01Speaker 1: We made a and we those vinyls were record Day first,
- 2:07Speaker 1: not exclusive.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Yeah, oops, yeah, they were exclusive. So hopefully you all,
- 2:13Speaker 2: if you went out today, were successful. Tom was the
- 2:17Speaker 2: most successful of all of us and was able to
- 2:19Speaker 2: get all four, and Amy and I were able to
- 2:21Speaker 2: get two out of the four. So yeah, yeah, I
- 2:28Speaker 2: haven't opened them yet, so I'm going to do unboxing.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Later, Nicety two.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Opening vinyls is always scary because you're like, oh god,
- 2:36Speaker 2: I hope I got a good pussing, and especially when
- 2:38Speaker 2: it's like exclusive, You're like, I'm kind of stuck with
- 2:41Speaker 2: what I have. So luck to all of us, thank you.
- 2:46Speaker 4: Yes, yes.
- 2:48Speaker 2: So in this episode we are going to be discussing
- 2:51Speaker 2: the Department of Mysteries. But first.
- 3:00Speaker 1: To w W in the Wizarding Wireless Network.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Now for the latest headlines. So a little bit of
- 3:07Speaker 2: news this week, not as much as we've had, which
- 3:10Speaker 2: has got a little break from news, but I did
- 3:13Speaker 2: get an email the other day from Harry Potter the
- 3:15Speaker 2: exhibition that they announced their next location will be in
- 3:18Speaker 2: Milan and tickets are going to be going on sale
- 3:21Speaker 2: April eighteenth, so the day after this episode comes out
- 3:27Speaker 2: and the Harry Potter Shop Chicago is officially open. We
- 3:31Speaker 2: talked in a prior episode about the kind of decor
- 3:35Speaker 2: that was going to be in the store and how
- 3:36Speaker 2: it was very gobbled of fire themed and I've seen
- 3:39Speaker 2: a lot of clips of the store and it looks awesome.
- 3:43Speaker 2: And of course Tom Felton, who's still kind of our
- 3:47Speaker 2: liaison to the Wizarding World, was there to celebrate the opening,
- 3:50Speaker 2: which I thought was really cool.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Yeah, and I know our graphic designer, Carolyn, she said
- 3:58Speaker 1: she was going to try and go to the shop
- 4:00Speaker 1: and get some pictures and things inside. So once we
- 4:04Speaker 1: have those, we'll definitely share those out.
- 4:07Speaker 2: Yes, have to get there eventually, Yeah, for sure. And
- 4:14Speaker 2: then also Harry Potter and the Curse Child announced that
- 4:17Speaker 2: they're going to be doing these they're calling them post
- 4:20Speaker 2: show talkbacks, and they're doing this with Bonnie Wright and
- 4:25Speaker 2: Jason Isaacs and essentially they're going to join after the
- 4:30Speaker 2: show and do a little chat session with everybody in
- 4:34Speaker 2: that show, you know, talking about really whatever, you know,
- 4:37Speaker 2: their time on the films and stuff. So that's really exciting.
- 4:40Speaker 2: So this is going to be happening on Broadway in
- 4:42Speaker 2: New York City. So Bonnie's post show talk back is
- 4:47Speaker 2: on April thirtieth, and Jason's is on May first, So
- 4:50Speaker 2: as far as I know, tickets are still available, So
- 4:52Speaker 2: if you're in the New York City area, definitely check
- 4:55Speaker 2: that out. That sounds really cool.
- 4:58Speaker 4: Yeah, nice multivat multiverse clash, like right, the playworld and
- 5:04Speaker 4: the movie you know, like the cinematic world, like everything
- 5:08Speaker 4: you know clashing, and it's interesting. It's interesting because they're
- 5:11Speaker 4: so different, you know, two different interpretations. And I was
- 5:15Speaker 4: a little surprised when I heard that because I thought
- 5:17Speaker 4: they were gonna bring maybe like someone from the past,
- 5:20Speaker 4: like from the cast, I don't know, like Noma or
- 5:23Speaker 4: someone who is, yeah, an OG cast member. And when
- 5:27Speaker 4: I saw that it was them, I was like, oh, interesting,
- 5:29Speaker 4: Like I wasn't expecting this.
- 5:32Speaker 1: It'd be kind of cool to see like whoever's playing
- 5:37Speaker 1: Ginny and Lucius now, Like it'd be cool just like
- 5:43Speaker 1: to see like their interpretations and like have these two
- 5:48Speaker 1: pairs like talk about their different ways of approaching the characters,
- 5:52Speaker 1: you know. So, yeah, that's pretty cool.
- 5:54Speaker 3: I like it.
- 5:56Speaker 2: We'll see. It's interesting bee the start of something like
- 5:58Speaker 2: I could totally see Tom being on board for doing
- 6:01Speaker 2: something like this, probably James and Oliver, maybe Havana. So
- 6:06Speaker 2: I guess the Luna is not in the show. Maybe
- 6:09Speaker 2: not because they're like not their characters aren't in the show.
- 6:11Speaker 2: But yeah, I guess we'll see. I guess what happens
- 6:14Speaker 2: with this. But super cool. And then to kind of
- 6:20Speaker 2: you know, wrap up the news more stuff about Epic Universe.
- 6:24Speaker 2: So of course we're nearing the opening of the park.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Very recently, media finally had their preview of Epic Universe,
- 6:33Speaker 2: and with the media previews came the lifting of the
- 6:35Speaker 2: band against photos and videos that was in place for
- 6:38Speaker 2: like team members. So we are kind of getting tons
- 6:43Speaker 2: of content on social media and YouTube about all aspects
- 6:48Speaker 2: of the park. So a lot of these videos were
- 6:51Speaker 2: just getting so much more detail that we weren't getting
- 6:54Speaker 2: in sneak peeks. I've seen videos of like the street entertainment, food,
- 7:00Speaker 2: food and reviews of the food, how the Flu network looks,
- 7:03Speaker 2: and the queue for the Battle of Ministry, as well
- 7:06Speaker 2: as a lot of people detailing what the ride was like.
- 7:09Speaker 2: It seems like the circue show has not been opened
- 7:14Speaker 2: yet for these previews, but media was kind of the
- 7:17Speaker 2: first to be able to ride Battle of the Ministry,
- 7:20Speaker 2: So we won't give a ton of spoilers in case
- 7:23Speaker 2: you're trying to avoid until the park officially opens. But
- 7:26Speaker 2: I think everything looks amazing, like even better than I pictured.
- 7:31Speaker 2: And I think if you're interested and you don't really
- 7:34Speaker 2: care about spoiling yourself, definitely have a look on social
- 7:37Speaker 2: media on YouTube to see these things because it's so awesome.
- 7:41Speaker 2: And I thought I wanted to avoid spoilers, but it's
- 7:44Speaker 2: hard to and you also just gets me more excited
- 7:47Speaker 2: to go it.
- 7:49Speaker 1: All the animatronics that I've seen look incredible.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Yes, so it's like creature animatronics, And one of them
- 8:02Speaker 2: is like the tiniest animatronic that's ever been so you
- 8:06Speaker 2: might be able to guess what it is, which is
- 8:11Speaker 2: really cool. And yeah, and I guess like the animatronics
- 8:16Speaker 2: in the Battle of the Ministry are also like amazing, And.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Those are some of the ones I've seen, like in
- 8:23Speaker 1: the queue and in the ride.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Oh I see any footage of the ride, so you
- 8:27Speaker 2: need to send me that because I've been trying to ride.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I'll see if I can find it again. But
- 8:33Speaker 1: I was I was also like, again, I'm not going
- 8:36Speaker 1: to spoil, but I was kind of surprised the ride vehicle.
- 8:40Speaker 1: It didn't It didn't look like as intense as not
- 8:45Speaker 1: you imagined, like I was expecting full on like everything else.
- 8:51Speaker 1: So when I saw it, I was like, oh, wait
- 8:53Speaker 1: a second, I think I can do this, Like I'm
- 8:56Speaker 1: going to be shine if they're not stressing. I had
- 8:58Speaker 1: to tell it's aw.
- 8:59Speaker 2: Yeah, I've been looking into it a lot because of
- 9:01Speaker 2: like motion sickness, and actually when I was at Universal
- 9:03Speaker 2: a couple of weeks ago, I ended up not riding
- 9:05Speaker 2: Forbidden Journey because I just got a little nervous because
- 9:09Speaker 2: the last time I wrote it, I felt pretty sick.
- 9:11Speaker 2: But it looks like from what I've heard is the
- 9:13Speaker 2: ride vehicle, it looks like Tower of Terror. It's set
- 9:16Speaker 2: up the same as like the Tower of Terror, but
- 9:19Speaker 2: it's more like Forbidden Journey, but way less intense. It
- 9:22Speaker 2: doesn't it's not the same kind of arm vehicle. But
- 9:25Speaker 2: also a lot of people are comparing it to Spider Man,
- 9:28Speaker 2: which also makes me a little sick. But I'll just yeah,
- 9:31Speaker 2: I'll just take extra motion sickness medicine so I can
- 9:33Speaker 2: get theoretical least once. But I heard a lot of
- 9:36Speaker 2: people that do have issues with motion sickness have actually
- 9:39Speaker 2: been okay on the ride, so they may have improved
- 9:44Speaker 2: as well, because you kind of switch between screens and
- 9:47Speaker 2: the animatronics, so maybe it's cleaner than it is on
- 9:50Speaker 2: Forbidden Journey, and Forbidden Journey also just really moves you
- 9:54Speaker 2: around with that arm.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Yeah, so.
- 9:58Speaker 4: Yeah, when you're in the wumping Willow, feels like you're
- 10:00Speaker 4: about to fall off your your seat.
- 10:02Speaker 2: It tilts you back so much, And I think that's
- 10:05Speaker 2: what actually makes me sick more than the screens. It's
- 10:08Speaker 2: just it's and it's like slow kind of I feel
- 10:10Speaker 2: like if they did it quicker, i'd be okay. But yeah,
- 10:14Speaker 2: I don't. Yeah, I don't know, gring Gotts. I'm completely
- 10:17Speaker 2: fine on so, Like, I don't think it's the screens.
- 10:19Speaker 2: I really think it's that. But I guess the ride
- 10:22Speaker 2: in Dark Universe, like the frank the ride that's in
- 10:26Speaker 2: Frankenstein's Castle is the same mechanism as Forbidden Journey. I
- 10:30Speaker 2: can't remember what it's called. That arm that it starts
- 10:32Speaker 2: with a K, but I can't think what it's called.
- 10:34Speaker 2: But it's apparently not as intense as Forbidden Journey still,
- 10:39Speaker 2: so yeah, I know a lot of people get sick
- 10:42Speaker 2: on Forbidden Journey, so I'm sure they really took that
- 10:45Speaker 2: into account.
- 10:45Speaker 4: But they had it in three D, I think for Hollywood, right, so.
- 10:51Speaker 2: People really sick.
- 10:53Speaker 1: Yeah, it was the three D. I've ridden it in Hollywood,
- 10:58Speaker 1: and I did not like the three D, Like it
- 11:00Speaker 1: didn't make me feel sick, but it just never looked
- 11:04Speaker 1: clear enough. Whereas when it's two D, I feel like
- 11:09Speaker 1: they can recalibrate it every now and then and it
- 11:11Speaker 1: looks clear. Still, the three D just looked off the
- 11:16Speaker 1: entire time, and it was not It wasn't good.
- 11:20Speaker 2: It's harder to maintain that because I've noticed so, Like
- 11:23Speaker 2: at Animal Kingdom at Disney Flight a passage for the
- 11:26Speaker 2: longest time was one of my favorite rides, but the
- 11:29Speaker 2: last couple of times i've written it, I've actually felt
- 11:32Speaker 2: sick on that ride and I've been like towards the
- 11:35Speaker 2: end and it's it's like never in focus, and I
- 11:39Speaker 2: think that's what's contributing to me feeling sick. And so
- 11:43Speaker 2: it's like you just want them to go in and
- 11:44Speaker 2: calibrate it, but I think it's so hard and it
- 11:47Speaker 2: just makes it. I think it's better to do just
- 11:50Speaker 2: not the three D. But yeah, again, I don't have
- 11:53Speaker 2: an issue with the three D on Greing.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Gods, So yeah, yeah, I don't know.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Something they did there makes it so that it doesn't
- 12:02Speaker 2: matter where you sit. I feel like you don't deal
- 12:05Speaker 2: with that blurriness, but you get that on rides like
- 12:08Speaker 2: Flight of Passage or Forbidden Journey. But but yeah, we
- 12:11Speaker 2: will see. I will I will take the medicine so
- 12:15Speaker 2: that I can get the rihtical ones. But but yeah,
- 12:18Speaker 2: everything looks amazing and we're super close to the park
- 12:21Speaker 2: being open. I did add in here because I wanted
- 12:26Speaker 2: to mention that I know, in a few episodes ago
- 12:29Speaker 2: when we were talking and introducing the second generation wands
- 12:33Speaker 2: that were coming out, so the new wands that are
- 12:38Speaker 2: from Cosme Acajors are not the second generation Wanes. So
- 12:42Speaker 2: we kind of talked a little bit about that, but
- 12:43Speaker 2: we now have confirmation that those new Wanes at Cosme's
- 12:47Speaker 2: are the regular first generation. There are still only the
- 12:50Speaker 2: four wands that are the second generation.
- 12:54Speaker 1: I don't like this.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like, okay, we're introducing this whole new, real
- 13:00Speaker 2: cool thing. And I will say when I was at Universal,
- 13:03Speaker 2: I did get to see the new Patrona's term in Nocturnality.
- 13:09Speaker 2: I walked in there as somebody was doing it, and
- 13:12Speaker 2: it's so cool, and it's only having the four wandes
- 13:16Speaker 2: is super limiting. And I will say, like I did
- 13:18Speaker 2: have a look at the new ones, and they do
- 13:20Speaker 2: look nicer in person, the four second generation ones. I
- 13:23Speaker 2: think they do look nicer in person than those initial pictures,
- 13:26Speaker 2: but I still don't love them enough to want to
- 13:29Speaker 2: buy one of them. Over these new ones coming to Cosme.
- 13:35Speaker 1: It's just odd to me that you're going to have
- 13:36Speaker 1: this brand new park and brand new bands, but they're
- 13:42Speaker 1: not the brand new technology. Yeah, like that's just a
- 13:45Speaker 1: little weird.
- 13:47Speaker 4: I don't get a mischance for sure.
- 13:50Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I know. And I think i'd said to
- 13:52Speaker 2: you Amy, I wonder if it's just some kind of
- 13:54Speaker 2: production issue or like the way you know, when they
- 13:57Speaker 2: were getting everything made and produced the time. But I
- 14:01Speaker 2: still don't think that's a good excuse. And it's also
- 14:04Speaker 2: confusing because the new Ministry of Magic maps basically like
- 14:09Speaker 2: have the information on it for like the first and
- 14:12Speaker 2: the second generation. So I think a lot of people
- 14:15Speaker 2: were assuming these new ones they were getting at Cosmes
- 14:18Speaker 2: were a second generation and they're just not. So yeah,
- 14:23Speaker 2: I definitely wanted to include that, just because I know
- 14:24Speaker 2: we had said before that we thought that they were
- 14:26Speaker 2: a second generation, but they are.
- 14:30Speaker 4: Yeah, it doesn't really make any sense.
- 14:34Speaker 1: Especially since we've known this upgrade to the wand magic
- 14:37Speaker 1: has been coming for a very long time, Like they
- 14:42Speaker 1: put in for those patents for this before construction on
- 14:46Speaker 1: Epic started, if I'm remembering right, So there's plenty of
- 14:50Speaker 1: time to have worked it in somehow. I just I
- 14:54Speaker 1: guess I don't get it.
- 14:57Speaker 2: No, And I think that honestly, Like I have kind
- 15:03Speaker 2: of decided that I'm probably going to I've already decided
- 15:07Speaker 2: which wand I want to get from Cosme, and I
- 15:11Speaker 2: guess spoiler, it's not one of the original like three
- 15:14Speaker 2: that I thought I wanted them. Oh, yes, I've changed,
- 15:20Speaker 2: So I guess you'll have to wait and see when
- 15:22Speaker 2: we go amy which one.
- 15:23Speaker 1: I guess what has happened to you, Nicole. First, she
- 15:26Speaker 1: sends us a text that says, I'm going to buy
- 15:29Speaker 1: a pink T shirt like a few weeks ago, and
- 15:31Speaker 1: I was like, what have you done with my friend?
- 15:33Speaker 1: Now she's changing her mind on wands?
- 15:36Speaker 2: Yes, yes, no, but I think I think what happened
- 15:40Speaker 2: was I'm seeing all these videos right of people actually
- 15:43Speaker 2: buying the wands, and I'm seeing them in person and everything,
- 15:47Speaker 2: and I just like absolutely fell in love with one
- 15:49Speaker 2: of them and I'm sold on it. And I think
- 15:52Speaker 2: it's like, I really want the second generation, but I
- 15:54Speaker 2: want this other wand more for the aesthetic of it.
- 15:59Speaker 4: So yeah, yeah, I really want to get my hands
- 16:03Speaker 4: on one of the vintage robes like the house gropes,
- 16:09Speaker 4: because I have my I have my my robes like
- 16:12Speaker 4: from the like recent ones, but it's cool to have
- 16:15Speaker 4: the ones from the nineteen twenties. And I really hope
- 16:19Speaker 4: we get we get the ropes from the first and
- 16:22Speaker 4: second movie sometime because those were graades. So yeah, in
- 16:27Speaker 4: the meantime, I'm just really but I think it's it's
- 16:30Speaker 4: pretty expensive, Like I think they're more expensive than the ones.
- 16:33Speaker 2: Yeah they are, I did hear though. I think the
- 16:36Speaker 2: material on them is thinner, which is obviously better for Florida.
- 16:42Speaker 2: So it seems like they've made some upgrades to them
- 16:44Speaker 2: for the better. But yeah, I'm pretty sure they are
- 16:46Speaker 2: more expensive. I think they're like one hundred and twenty
- 16:48Speaker 2: or one hundred and thirty dollars.
- 16:50Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, which is crazy. Better save up from now.
- 16:55Speaker 1: Right, Start a separate bank account just for Epic Universe.
- 17:00Speaker 4: Yeah, I just make a separate one, say yeah, Epic
- 17:02Speaker 4: Universe slash Wizarding World, and you put a little bit
- 17:05Speaker 4: there every month, and then then you got it.
- 17:09Speaker 2: You get a like I use. I have like a
- 17:11Speaker 2: high yie old savings account, and I can make like
- 17:14Speaker 2: different vaults, so you can. You can make a vault
- 17:16Speaker 2: that's like Epic Universe, and then you're putting money aside
- 17:20Speaker 2: just into that vault. And because it's a high savings account,
- 17:24Speaker 2: Oh my god, is your call? Oh my god, Yes,
- 17:26Speaker 2: I'm gonna make one.
- 17:29Speaker 1: You should number it so that it's the Sorcerer's Stone.
- 17:34Speaker 2: Oh my god. Yes, and then when and then you
- 17:36Speaker 2: earn interest as well on it because it's a high
- 17:39Speaker 2: old savings account. Absolutely, I just need to always have
- 17:42Speaker 2: I think, you know, a universal fund. I do that
- 17:46Speaker 2: with Disney already, like I kind of every paycheck my
- 17:48Speaker 2: budget some money towards Disney. So good call. And I
- 17:51Speaker 2: think there's gonna be so much merchandise because I it's funny.
- 17:55Speaker 2: The day that I went to Universal, I popped into
- 17:58Speaker 2: the Preview center so that I could see yet. And
- 18:00Speaker 2: then later that day, as I was leaving the parks
- 18:03Speaker 2: because unfortunately it was only there for like six seven
- 18:05Speaker 2: hours before I had to catch my flight, I popped
- 18:08Speaker 2: back into the Previeus Center and they had changed it
- 18:11Speaker 2: all around from that morning. Oh wow, And they had
- 18:13Speaker 2: these new and I don't know if they were new
- 18:15Speaker 2: or if they had just put them out, but I
- 18:17Speaker 2: didn't remember seeing them that morning. They were like a
- 18:20Speaker 2: sling bag of like the time turner, like Loko that's everywhere,
- 18:24Speaker 2: Like I don't remember seeing that bag this morning.
- 18:27Speaker 1: I think I saw that when I went. I love
- 18:29Speaker 1: all the Time Turner merch.
- 18:30Speaker 4: Did you guys see the popcorn bucket?
- 18:33Speaker 1: Oh my god?
- 18:34Speaker 2: From Tokyo.
- 18:35Speaker 4: I was like, I meet that in my life, Like
- 18:38Speaker 4: I'm a Time Turner collector. I love everything as well,
- 18:41Speaker 4: like everything time Turner, So I was like, I need that,
- 18:43Speaker 4: but I think it's in Universal Japan.
- 18:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know if I could see it coming
- 18:50Speaker 2: here because it's like popcorn is really big in like
- 18:53Speaker 2: the Disney parks here, but not really in the Universal parks,
- 18:57Speaker 2: I feel like, compared to like, but in Japan, even
- 19:00Speaker 2: the Disney parks in Japan, their popcorn buckets are like
- 19:04Speaker 2: next level. There's like they just kind of go crazy
- 19:06Speaker 2: for the popcorn budets over.
- 19:08Speaker 4: There, have to go to Jaman then there.
- 19:10Speaker 2: You're closer than us now, so group.
- 19:12Speaker 4: Trip, Yeah, and we got a studio tour there as well,
- 19:17Speaker 4: so that's.
- 19:18Speaker 1: Right feeling trip, Let's go.
- 19:21Speaker 2: Yeah, but yeah, there's so much merch already, so yeah,
- 19:26Speaker 2: it's just just getting definitely very excited. And yeah, the
- 19:32Speaker 2: last thing I had here was that Universal recently revealed
- 19:35Speaker 2: as well that previews for Epic Universe are now open
- 19:39Speaker 2: for annual pass holders, Universal Resort Gas, Universal Rewards, Signature
- 19:44Speaker 2: Visa Card members, and active twenty twenty five Military Freedom
- 19:47Speaker 2: Pass ticket holders beginning April seventeenth. I think it's through
- 19:52Speaker 2: like May ninth or something like that, and then there's
- 19:54Speaker 2: a bit of a gap from that ninth or whatever
- 19:57Speaker 2: date it is to the twenty second, but they're Universal,
- 20:00Speaker 2: FAQ says there might be stuff added, so Amy and
- 20:06Speaker 2: I are keeping our fingers crossed that they add some
- 20:08Speaker 2: more for that because.
- 20:10Speaker 1: We are going to try it.
- 20:11Speaker 2: We almost did it. We were texting at midnight to
- 20:14Speaker 2: book for annual passworlder preview and I freaked out and
- 20:18Speaker 2: didn't And then by the next day the one time,
- 20:21Speaker 2: the one day that we were going to go is
- 20:23Speaker 2: the only day that has sold out.
- 20:27Speaker 1: It wasn't meant to be.
- 20:28Speaker 2: It wasn't meant to be so but yeah, either way,
- 20:32Speaker 2: we will be going soon, probably within the next couple
- 20:36Speaker 2: of months here.
- 20:36Speaker 4: So yes, I'm really excited for you guys.
- 20:39Speaker 1: Even if I have to suffer the heat of the
- 20:42Speaker 1: summer in Orlando, I will do it, just because I
- 20:45Speaker 1: want to go so bad.
- 20:46Speaker 4: But we talk.
- 20:49Speaker 2: It's so crazy, I mean not even not even just
- 20:52Speaker 2: like obviously the Wizard World section is amazing, but even
- 20:56Speaker 2: beyond that, like I am so excited for DARKI Universe
- 21:02Speaker 2: Dragon looks so cool too. I mean, Nintendo World obviously
- 21:06Speaker 2: looks amazing as well, like the whole thing. Like, I
- 21:08Speaker 2: think Universal really outdid themselves with this, and I think
- 21:13Speaker 2: really like what was helpful and if and I kind
- 21:16Speaker 2: of thought this when I was at Universal because this
- 21:19Speaker 2: was my first time back in a while, and I
- 21:22Speaker 2: was just like walking through the parks and the Wizarding
- 21:24Speaker 2: Worlds are like a thing of their own in that
- 21:27Speaker 2: park in terms of detail, and the rest of the
- 21:30Speaker 2: park kind of almost needs to like be refurbished a
- 21:35Speaker 2: bit to like catch up. And I think what's amazing
- 21:39Speaker 2: about Epic is they took the amazingness of what they
- 21:42Speaker 2: did with the Wizarding World and did it for the
- 21:45Speaker 2: entire park. And that's what makes so amazing because that
- 21:48Speaker 2: level of detail is there in every single facet of
- 21:52Speaker 2: that part where it's made so much in the other parks.
- 21:56Speaker 1: Right because it's all new, so it's all totally to date.
- 22:01Speaker 1: You don't have those sections that you're like, oh wow,
- 22:05Speaker 1: we haven't had yeah, like almost in our lifetime, we
- 22:08Speaker 1: haven't had like a new Universal park opening like they
- 22:11Speaker 1: all you know, kind of have their years now.
- 22:14Speaker 4: So Islands of Adventure Universal, They've been here for such
- 22:19Speaker 4: a long time, and this is like the first time
- 22:21Speaker 4: I remember at least that we get a brand new park,
- 22:24Speaker 4: not just a section, but you know, completely new park
- 22:29Speaker 4: with you know, where you have to pay your entrance
- 22:31Speaker 4: to the park where you have to so I mean
- 22:34Speaker 4: I must be neat, like top notch. Wow, Like I'm
- 22:39Speaker 4: really excited to visit sometime.
- 22:42Speaker 2: I would say too. Even the videos and pictures I've
- 22:44Speaker 2: seen of the food, like not even just in the
- 22:46Speaker 2: Wizard role, but the whole park. I mean it is
- 22:48Speaker 2: just like next level in terms of like theme park food.
- 22:52Speaker 2: Like you would look at some of these pictures and like,
- 22:54Speaker 2: I if somebody showed me that picture on its own,
- 22:58Speaker 2: like I would never guess that that was the our food.
- 23:01Speaker 2: So yeah, either way, the media previews have been super
- 23:07Speaker 2: exciting because we were getting this first look at everything
- 23:11Speaker 2: and it just looks so amazing.
- 23:14Speaker 4: So yeah, yeah, I've heard that at the Ministry is
- 23:18Speaker 4: probably the best Harry Potter ride, So we'll just have
- 23:23Speaker 4: to check it for ourselves.
- 23:24Speaker 2: Yes, hopefully Amy and I can report back yes on
- 23:31Speaker 2: our thoughts, So that one will probably have to be
- 23:33Speaker 2: a little bit of like a spoiler filled episode because
- 23:36Speaker 2: I can't imagine Amy and I not to share everything.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Able to contain ourselves. No, just strap a little camera
- 23:44Speaker 1: to us as we're going through the park, because feed we.
- 23:48Speaker 4: Need to be I'm okay with it. On the spoiler freak.
- 23:50Speaker 2: So like people that live live stream when they're in
- 23:54Speaker 2: the dark that.
- 23:55Speaker 1: How many times will Amy and Nicole scream or cry?
- 24:04Speaker 2: But yeah, so exciting. But yeah, that was the main
- 24:07Speaker 2: news that I have seen.
- 24:14Speaker 1: All right, So for our main discussion, we are going
- 24:17Speaker 1: to talk about the Department of Mysteries. We've been talking
- 24:21Speaker 1: about doing this for a while now, so why not.
- 24:25Speaker 1: It's a great topic. So the Department of Mysteries is
- 24:32Speaker 1: a department within the British Ministry of Magic whose employees
- 24:36Speaker 1: work to quote unravel the mysteries of the world, including
- 24:41Speaker 1: research into time, death, and love. According to Wizardingworld dot com,
- 24:50Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, Harry Potter dot com, Now that's true.
- 24:56Speaker 2: We're still halty about this.
- 25:00Speaker 1: I refuse to call it that, just like I won't
- 25:03Speaker 1: call Twitter x right. Employees of the Department of Mysteries
- 25:12Speaker 1: are called Unspeakables due to the secrecy that surrounds their work.
- 25:17Speaker 1: And interestingly, this department actually predates the Ministry, which was
- 25:22Speaker 1: established in seventeen oh seven, so the Department of Mysteries
- 25:27Speaker 1: was likely founded sometime in the sixteen hundreds, as there
- 25:31Speaker 1: is research from sixteen seventy two indicating which is in
- 25:35Speaker 1: Wizards are Born, not Created, which that little tidbit is
- 25:40Speaker 1: from Dumbledore's commentary in the Beetle Beetle the Bard book,
- 25:46Speaker 1: that little tiny book that was published the Charity Book.
- 25:53Speaker 1: So this department also has a great deal of independence,
- 25:56Speaker 1: and it's the only one in the Ministry that does
- 25:59Speaker 1: not have to answer to the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.
- 26:03Speaker 1: And according to writings by JK. Rowling, even the Minister
- 26:06Speaker 1: themselves has shaky authority when it comes to the Department
- 26:10Speaker 1: of Mysteries. The fifteenth Minister rudolphuss Strange tried to shut
- 26:15Speaker 1: down the department's operations, but the order was just ignored
- 26:18Speaker 1: by unspeakables who continue to just go about their work. So, yeah, I.
- 26:26Speaker 2: Want to know, like how you be common unspeakable, Like
- 26:30Speaker 2: how do you get employed in this department?
- 26:34Speaker 1: Like what are the qualifications?
- 26:37Speaker 2: It cannot be the same as just like going on
- 26:40Speaker 2: whatever wizard indeed is and applying to a job at
- 26:43Speaker 2: the ministry.
- 26:47Speaker 1: Huh. I don't know. I wonder if they get like
- 26:52Speaker 1: recruited almost from like different departments, if there's people that
- 26:58Speaker 1: they're like, hmm, you are really good at keeping secrets.
- 27:04Speaker 1: Join our research team.
- 27:08Speaker 2: What I imagine you'd have to have like skills of research
- 27:11Speaker 2: and stuff as well. And I also like, you know
- 27:14Speaker 2: how you were mentioning how the department predates the Ministry itself.
- 27:18Speaker 2: So that's so interesting, right, Like, was there just this
- 27:22Speaker 2: group of intellectuals that kind of got together and started
- 27:25Speaker 2: doing this research freelance on their own and that eventually
- 27:29Speaker 2: it just kind of got enveloped by the Ministry when
- 27:32Speaker 2: the Ministry formed.
- 27:34Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 27:36Speaker 2: Interesting.
- 27:37Speaker 1: It's almost like because they predate the Ministry, that's why
- 27:41Speaker 1: they don't really answer to the Ministry, because they're almost
- 27:44Speaker 1: like their own entity, even though they're.
- 27:47Speaker 2: Like their offices are just at the Ministry, but they're
- 27:50Speaker 2: not necessarily a ministry organization.
- 27:56Speaker 1: We're saying, yeah, which their offices are located on level
- 28:04Speaker 1: nine of the Ministry building, which is the second lowest level.
- 28:11Speaker 1: And from the Order of the Phoenix book we do
- 28:14Speaker 1: get a description of the entrance of the Department of Mysteries,
- 28:19Speaker 1: which the entrance chamber is a circular room with twelve
- 28:23Speaker 1: identical handless doors, and the room is lit with cool
- 28:27Speaker 1: blue light and the floor looks like standing water, and
- 28:32Speaker 1: when the doors closed, the walls rotate, which is presumably
- 28:36Speaker 1: to try and disorientate unauthorized personnel from getting inside.
- 28:43Speaker 2: I find this so interesting because like how I wonder,
- 28:47Speaker 2: like if you're a worker though in the department, like
- 28:52Speaker 2: the way it's described in the book, Like how would
- 28:55Speaker 2: you even know where you're going?
- 28:59Speaker 1: Right?
- 29:02Speaker 2: I have so many questions about the workers I feel
- 29:04Speaker 2: like more than any more than.
- 29:06Speaker 4: Anything, like really mysterious, like you can almost tell it.
- 29:12Speaker 4: Are they even like wizards? Like is it like actual
- 29:15Speaker 4: people the Unspeakables? Because it just sounds like so you know,
- 29:20Speaker 4: like something like I don't know, like coming from a
- 29:23Speaker 4: different realm.
- 29:24Speaker 2: Yeah, that day and go home and have dinner with
- 29:28Speaker 2: their family.
- 29:30Speaker 1: Yeah, it's weird. What a great band name?
- 29:35Speaker 4: Yeah, are you sure there's nothing with you rock that's
- 29:39Speaker 4: called Unspeakables or something?
- 29:41Speaker 1: You know, If there isn't, somebody get on that because
- 29:44Speaker 1: that's a great name.
- 29:45Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 29:49Speaker 1: So, out of those twelve doors, we know what's behind
- 29:53Speaker 1: a few of them. So we know six of them.
- 29:58Speaker 1: We've obviously got the Hall of par offhey, which each
- 30:02Speaker 1: of these rooms is kind of studying something. So the
- 30:06Speaker 1: whole of Prophecy, I assume is fate or destiny. The
- 30:13Speaker 1: interesting thing about this room, though, is only the people
- 30:16Speaker 1: who's the prophecy is about can take it off the shelf.
- 30:21Speaker 1: So how are they studying these if they can't even
- 30:26Speaker 1: respect them? How did they put them there?
- 30:28Speaker 2: Right?
- 30:28Speaker 1: How did they organize these shelves?
- 30:34Speaker 4: I thought it was just a person, like they could
- 30:35Speaker 4: only hear it themselves, like I but yeah, I didn't
- 30:41Speaker 4: know that they are the only ones who can lift
- 30:43Speaker 4: it from the shelf, Like.
- 30:48Speaker 2: Someone could take it down, but unless it wasn't about you,
- 30:50Speaker 2: it wouldn't it wouldn't speak the prophecy.
- 30:54Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 30:55Speaker 1: I think that they're the only ones who can take
- 30:57Speaker 1: it off the shelf though, because that's why they need
- 31:00Speaker 1: Harry to lift it off the shelf. So like once
- 31:03Speaker 1: he handed it over to the death Eaters, they could
- 31:07Speaker 1: take it, but he had to physically take it off
- 31:10Speaker 1: the shelf himself.
- 31:13Speaker 4: Maybe they're magically formed, like they are materialized on the
- 31:18Speaker 4: shelfs themselves, waiting for their owner to pick them up.
- 31:25Speaker 3: Mm hmm.
- 31:27Speaker 2: But I mean, really, I don't know how many owners
- 31:30Speaker 2: would actually go and get their prophecies because it seems like,
- 31:34Speaker 2: I mean, you can't just stroll on it. Well, I mean,
- 31:36Speaker 2: all these hogwarts dodents seem to just stroll right on it.
- 31:39Speaker 2: But I can't imagine there's so many people just like
- 31:43Speaker 2: I'm going to go to the Department of Mysteries today
- 31:45Speaker 2: to see and you know, it's like, how do you
- 31:47Speaker 2: even know if you have a prophecy there about yourself?
- 31:50Speaker 1: You probably don't unless you witnessed that. You don't know.
- 31:55Speaker 2: Yeah, hm, m interesting. And then are they they're not
- 32:03Speaker 2: in like alphabetical order or anything. I don't think, because
- 32:07Speaker 2: my whole question is if they had put them in
- 32:09Speaker 2: ap a medical order, then they need to be able
- 32:11Speaker 2: to be touched, right, so they can be moved when
- 32:14Speaker 2: there's a new prophecy that needs to go in. But yeah,
- 32:17Speaker 2: it's kind of like what are they studying in there?
- 32:19Speaker 2: Or is this room more just used as like storage,
- 32:23Speaker 2: like a record a record room that's very safe, Like
- 32:27Speaker 2: this seems to be the safest place to store prophecies
- 32:33Speaker 2: except for the fact that hogwarts students and death theaters
- 32:36Speaker 2: are able to get in there, but yeah and destroy them.
- 32:43Speaker 2: But where security, Like they should have the highest security level, but.
- 32:52Speaker 1: They're just like relying on being too creepy, so nobody
- 32:55Speaker 1: ever wants to go there. That's their main security.
- 33:00Speaker 2: I feel like though dark wizards like aren't put off
- 33:04Speaker 2: by creepiness. I don't know if their logic was the
- 33:09Speaker 2: best there.
- 33:14Speaker 1: So then we also have the brain room, which we
- 33:19Speaker 1: know there's that tank of human brains in there and
- 33:22Speaker 1: a green liquid which become pretty aggressive if touched. So
- 33:28Speaker 1: the brain room, obviously thought is the thing kind of
- 33:33Speaker 1: being studied in here. Thought minds that sort of thing.
- 33:38Speaker 2: I'm sure consciousness. I think this room was always the
- 33:41Speaker 2: coolest to me because I like studied psychology, so I
- 33:46Speaker 2: always would think, like if I worked in the Department
- 33:48Speaker 2: of Mysteries, I would want to be somebody that works
- 33:50Speaker 2: in the brain room. So I think that's room's really cool.
- 33:55Speaker 1: Yeah, cool. Whose brains are these? Like? How do they
- 34:00Speaker 1: just like get these random humans?
- 34:02Speaker 2: When you die and you donate, some people donate their
- 34:05Speaker 2: body to science. Maybe some people donate their brains to
- 34:07Speaker 2: the ministry.
- 34:09Speaker 4: Maybybe previous ministers and people who worked at the Ministry.
- 34:14Speaker 2: The unspeakables, because you maybe it's a position. It's like
- 34:19Speaker 2: you dedicate your life to working at the Department of Mysteries,
- 34:24Speaker 2: and even after death, you are still working at the
- 34:29Speaker 2: Department of Mystery because you've got all these things in
- 34:33Speaker 2: your brain right that other people should not get access to.
- 34:37Speaker 2: So it makes sense we're going to keep your brain
- 34:39Speaker 2: forever in this time that people don't have access.
- 34:45Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I.
- 34:48Speaker 2: Wonder if they study I mean, obviously we know that
- 34:50Speaker 2: there's like human brains, but I wonder if there's also
- 34:52Speaker 2: like other brains, like brains of creatures, brains of other
- 34:58Speaker 2: species like h house elves and stuff like that. Like what,
- 35:02Speaker 2: I wonder what the extent of their study?
- 35:04Speaker 1: Iss, do they have brains? Yeah, that's another mystery also,
- 35:17Speaker 1: like why did the brains have this effect on Ron,
- 35:20Speaker 1: like when they do wrap around his arms, Like it's
- 35:23Speaker 1: such a weird thing. I've always kind of wondered, like why.
- 35:31Speaker 2: I and I think, I mean, and we'll talk about
- 35:33Speaker 2: this more when we talk about the like the Veil Room,
- 35:36Speaker 2: because I had similar questions about other characters. But I
- 35:40Speaker 2: think it's really interesting, like in general, how certain characters
- 35:45Speaker 2: were more affected by certain rooms, which again, like we'll
- 35:51Speaker 2: talk about more in the Veil Room, but like, yeah,
- 35:53Speaker 2: it's really interesting, Like.
- 36:01Speaker 1: Yeah, don't have an answer. So then we have the
- 36:09Speaker 1: time turner room, where all the time turners are, which
- 36:12Speaker 1: obviously is studying time. This room contains all sorts of clocks,
- 36:19Speaker 1: cabinet of time turners, and that bell jar that kind
- 36:23Speaker 1: of goes through the life cycle of whatever is inside it,
- 36:26Speaker 1: making it grow from young to old over and over again. Yeah,
- 36:33Speaker 1: so this is an interesting room mm hmm.
- 36:38Speaker 2: And like they're like the Infinity Stones in Marvel, Like
- 36:46Speaker 2: if you look at it, like the different things that
- 36:48Speaker 2: they are, it just reminded me of all the different
- 36:51Speaker 2: Infinity stones.
- 36:53Speaker 1: This is true. Yeah, so we do know that the
- 37:00Speaker 1: Department of Mysteries was researching time travel, so that probably
- 37:04Speaker 1: happened out of this room. That research was supposedly abandoned
- 37:10Speaker 1: after a witch named Elouise min Tumble traveled to the
- 37:14Speaker 1: year fourteen oh two and got stuck there for a
- 37:17Speaker 1: period of five days, causing all sorts of disruptions. People
- 37:24Speaker 1: ended up dead who shouldn't have ended up dead time
- 37:29Speaker 1: like passed at a weird pace afterwards, like all sorts
- 37:33Speaker 1: of weird stuff. But did they really abandon that research though,
- 37:40Speaker 1: because they've got this whole room still dedicated to the
- 37:43Speaker 1: study of time and they've got all these time turners still.
- 37:47Speaker 4: So was it more of a research room or was
- 37:50Speaker 4: it more of a way to gate keep or kind
- 37:52Speaker 4: of like hoard all the time turners so that nobody
- 37:55Speaker 4: had access to them because of the danger that they presents.
- 38:00Speaker 2: Both I would yeah, I can't imagine that they would
- 38:07Speaker 2: just give up studying it. I think it's too cool
- 38:10Speaker 2: of a thing, you know, once you kind of realize, oh,
- 38:13Speaker 2: we have the ability to, like hone time travel in
- 38:16Speaker 2: some way, even if we because at the time, it's like,
- 38:18Speaker 2: right with this eloise, like you don't understand how it happened,
- 38:22Speaker 2: and as humans, that's like the first thing that we
- 38:26Speaker 2: need to be like, well, I want to understand how
- 38:29Speaker 2: this happens, and that's how research starts. And time travel
- 38:33Speaker 2: is way too cool of a thing to just abandon
- 38:35Speaker 2: that research. And I think obviously, you know, knowing that
- 38:40Speaker 2: you know now far in the in the future from
- 38:42Speaker 2: this like Hermione is granted access to a time turner, Like,
- 38:46Speaker 2: there's no way they just abandoned that research because they
- 38:49Speaker 2: had to figured out, like they wouldn't just loan them out,
- 38:53Speaker 2: I think, especially to a Hogwarts student, if they hadn't
- 38:56Speaker 2: done more research to kind of see and and also
- 38:59Speaker 2: like I think they kind of show us that they
- 39:02Speaker 2: did do more research because like Hermione's given like parameters
- 39:07Speaker 2: and stuff for when she uses it right and how
- 39:09Speaker 2: it's like. So it seems like over time they learned,
- 39:14Speaker 2: here's all the different parameters of what you need to
- 39:17Speaker 2: follow if you're time traveling, so we didn't have these
- 39:19Speaker 2: disruptions that we had, like when this aloe Is traveled
- 39:22Speaker 2: back and was wreaking happen and changing.
- 39:25Speaker 1: You can't go back hundreds of years, but you can
- 39:27Speaker 1: do a few hours.
- 39:29Speaker 4: Yeah right, Yeah, maybe that's why they granted McGonagall permission
- 39:32Speaker 4: to give her the time turner, because but I'm sure
- 39:36Speaker 4: she had to go onto really strict rules and guidelines,
- 39:40Speaker 4: and you know, it was just, hey, I need a
- 39:42Speaker 4: time turner for my student. Okay, here you go. Like
- 39:45Speaker 4: it's not a book, you you know, you kind of
- 39:47Speaker 4: like go to the library and then you return. It's
- 39:50Speaker 4: must be something that requires a lot of you know,
- 39:54Speaker 4: decision making and making sure that the person who's using
- 39:58Speaker 4: it is responsible enough. Obviously Hermione was all those things,
- 40:03Speaker 4: so it did make sense that they gave it to her.
- 40:07Speaker 4: But still, you know, she was a thirteen year old preteen,
- 40:11Speaker 4: Like that's a lot.
- 40:13Speaker 2: I mean, look at what happened in kurs Child all right, like.
- 40:18Speaker 1: And oh boy, so we also have the Space Chamber,
- 40:29Speaker 1: which this room is pretty cool studying space. So it's
- 40:33Speaker 1: a dark room full of planets floating in mid air,
- 40:38Speaker 1: and we know Luna uses a Reducto curse on Pluto
- 40:41Speaker 1: to try and stop a death theater. I just think
- 40:45Speaker 1: this room is so cool, Like it's cool that they're
- 40:48Speaker 1: studying space, like you wouldn't think wizards would be, like
- 40:52Speaker 1: you know.
- 40:53Speaker 4: Yeah, almost feels like it belongs to Muggle studies or
- 40:56Speaker 4: you know, like I mean, they do have astronomy, but
- 40:59Speaker 4: it's something like more magical. It's you know, kind of
- 41:02Speaker 4: like the starring constellations and you know, like it's not
- 41:06Speaker 4: the same as studying planets. Yeah, so it's it's interesting
- 41:11Speaker 4: that they have a room for space because even the
- 41:14Speaker 4: wizards don't have an answer to.
- 41:16Speaker 2: That, right, It's like the Centaurs are really the ones
- 41:20Speaker 2: that are so in tuned to that.
- 41:27Speaker 1: Do you think that wizards think about finding life on
- 41:30Speaker 1: Mars like Muggles do.
- 41:33Speaker 2: Oh, I'm sure, And I think that like they probably
- 41:36Speaker 2: have the benefit of even more advanced I don't necessarily
- 41:41Speaker 2: even want to say technology, because it's like magic and
- 41:44Speaker 2: I feel like the things that they can study and
- 41:46Speaker 2: research like in the space room would probably like blow
- 41:50Speaker 2: out of the water the type of research that like
- 41:53Speaker 2: muggles are able to do like at NASA. Yeah, like
- 41:57Speaker 2: Nasaly I said that really weird.
- 42:00Speaker 1: But like have wizards landed on the moon? Have they
- 42:05Speaker 1: traveled to space? I need to know?
- 42:07Speaker 2: Or do they think of it more of like is
- 42:09Speaker 2: there you know, or we're kind of searching for like
- 42:11Speaker 2: other human life, Like are they trying to search for
- 42:14Speaker 2: other like magical beings and which is in wizards and
- 42:18Speaker 2: that's the kind of focus.
- 42:20Speaker 4: Yeah, is there an Elon Musk wizard counterpart.
- 42:25Speaker 2: Who has like SpaceX Wizard edition?
- 42:29Speaker 1: Yeah, unspeakable there we go.
- 42:32Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, but.
- 42:35Speaker 4: It's really interesting, Yeah, what they think of it? Or
- 42:38Speaker 4: you know, how they want to approach Why are they
- 42:40Speaker 4: studying planets? Do they want to you know, are they
- 42:42Speaker 4: also interested in the same things that we are in
- 42:45Speaker 4: such a mystery even for Wizards that it deserves its
- 42:50Speaker 4: own room in the department of mysteries, Which is it's
- 42:55Speaker 4: really interesting.
- 42:56Speaker 2: I think so because especially because of how much like
- 42:59Speaker 2: they even just study like I know, it's like obviously
- 43:02Speaker 2: more astrology and stuff than astronomy. But I think that
- 43:05Speaker 2: is also even just like the like the gate birth
- 43:10Speaker 2: to kind of being like because you know, all of
- 43:13Speaker 2: that is informed by the stars and the planets, and
- 43:16Speaker 2: so if that's something that they've always taught like at
- 43:19Speaker 2: wizarding schools, Like I, it makes sense to me that
- 43:23Speaker 2: there would be this room to study it more and
- 43:27Speaker 2: even to study it maybe like like we kind of said,
- 43:29Speaker 2: they don't maybe study it so much from like a
- 43:31Speaker 2: philosophical standpoint, like they're actually trying to study it from
- 43:34Speaker 2: like a true scientific standpoint, or it might be a
- 43:37Speaker 2: mixture of both really, but yeah, to me, it makes
- 43:45Speaker 2: sense that they are because of just how much it's
- 43:49Speaker 2: already part of like their curriculum and stuff. But it's
- 43:52Speaker 2: kind of like which came first. Did they kind of
- 43:55Speaker 2: start having creatures like the centaurs start talking about the
- 44:00Speaker 2: stars and all of that, and then all of a
- 44:01Speaker 2: sudden they became interested in space or was it they
- 44:05Speaker 2: just became interested in space and then that then informed
- 44:08Speaker 2: them studying it more from like an astrological standpoint. Yeah,
- 44:17Speaker 2: but interesting. I would love to see this room.
- 44:21Speaker 1: Yeah, me too.
- 44:22Speaker 2: I imagine like a planetarium on like steroids. Yeah, right,
- 44:28Speaker 2: so relaxing, and I wonder if they could, like, could
- 44:35Speaker 2: you imagine if they could have the tech like not
- 44:38Speaker 2: again I keep saying technology, it's not technology, it's the
- 44:41Speaker 2: magic of like like Hermione's bag, right, that is like
- 44:46Speaker 2: this extendable like you put this extendable charm on this room.
- 44:50Speaker 2: I don't even know if that's magically possible, but could
- 44:53Speaker 2: you imagine if they could do that to this room
- 44:56Speaker 2: and you just had like obviously not you could never
- 45:00Speaker 2: or have anything to scale of space, right, but if
- 45:02Speaker 2: they were able to you go into this room and
- 45:05Speaker 2: it extends to this level of like being way bigger
- 45:10Speaker 2: on the inside.
- 45:12Speaker 1: Mm hmmm mm hmm.
- 45:14Speaker 2: Yeah, and how that could look.
- 45:21Speaker 1: Multiple galaxies?
- 45:23Speaker 2: Universal, get on this next park.
- 45:28Speaker 1: I want that takes me through the space room so awesome.
- 45:34Speaker 1: It'd be like et.
- 45:38Speaker 2: I want to go in a brain room like I
- 45:40Speaker 2: want to. I want to see it all. After what
- 45:42Speaker 2: I saw they did with like just the lobby of
- 45:44Speaker 2: the Ministry of Magic, I think they could do it. Yeah. Absolutely,
- 45:48Speaker 2: And if this happens in the future, I Universal you
- 45:52Speaker 2: need to give Rebellio podcast credit.
- 45:56Speaker 1: And free tickets for life, free.
- 45:58Speaker 2: Tickets for life for giving you the idea.
- 46:01Speaker 4: It's a great concept for a ride like Department Harry
- 46:04Speaker 4: Potter and the Department of Mysteries.
- 46:08Speaker 2: Yeah, especially with the way that like they just utilize
- 46:12Speaker 2: the screen technology and they already kind of got with
- 46:17Speaker 2: Battle of the Ministry, this whole moving through like yeah, yes.
- 46:21Speaker 1: Yeah, just imagine the billboards so good, it just builds itself.
- 46:28Speaker 2: You can even go into like the Hall of Prophecies
- 46:31Speaker 2: and like, oh, wou'd be so cool.
- 46:38Speaker 1: All right, So then the next room we've got is
- 46:41Speaker 1: a locked room that we actually never see inside but
- 46:45Speaker 1: we know is where they study love. And yeah, supposedly
- 46:51Speaker 1: there's like a large fountain of amortensia in the room,
- 46:55Speaker 1: but we don't get to see it.
- 47:00Speaker 2: I think it's really interesting that this is the room
- 47:03Speaker 2: that is behind a door that's locked at all times,
- 47:07Speaker 2: because you don't, i mean, love doesn't seem as like
- 47:14Speaker 2: scary as like some of these other rooms, you know.
- 47:18Speaker 2: But I also wonder too if, like, because they've got
- 47:21Speaker 2: this like fountain of amortensia in there, obviously we know
- 47:26Speaker 2: that this can be a very very dangerous potion if
- 47:32Speaker 2: obtained by the wrong person, and it can have like
- 47:35Speaker 2: really I think serious ramifications and so it makes sense
- 47:39Speaker 2: that it seems like such a like non scary potion,
- 47:44Speaker 2: but at the same time seems like, yeah, this is
- 47:46Speaker 2: something you don't want people to get their hands on.
- 47:50Speaker 2: So in that way, I think it does make sense
- 47:52Speaker 2: that it's locked. I feel like there's got to be
- 47:55Speaker 2: more reasons, you know why.
- 47:58Speaker 4: And yeah, yeah, yeah, they say love is the most
- 48:01Speaker 4: powerful weapon, so like we're good or bad sometimes like
- 48:06Speaker 4: I don't know, it's it's also something like like the planets.
- 48:11Speaker 4: I feel like this is at the same level in
- 48:13Speaker 4: the sense that, wow, you know, wizards are just as
- 48:15Speaker 4: invested in this as we are as well, because we
- 48:18Speaker 4: also wonder what love is, why does it happen the
- 48:22Speaker 4: way it happens, why does it unravel the way?
- 48:25Speaker 2: You know?
- 48:25Speaker 4: And I think it's really interesting. It has its own room,
- 48:30Speaker 4: but it makes sense because it's such a powerful feeling,
- 48:34Speaker 4: it's such a powerful weapon, and the fact that it
- 48:39Speaker 4: has a fountain of homortensia, Like we know that there's
- 48:44Speaker 4: good left potions and badly brewed love potions, like you know, secondhand,
- 48:50Speaker 4: so maybe they're as well, like yeah, you know, trying
- 48:53Speaker 4: to create the perfect love potion, but that cannot you know,
- 48:57Speaker 4: it's always impossible to do like bringing people from the dead,
- 49:00Speaker 4: and I think in every single fiction, novel, movie, whatever,
- 49:06Speaker 4: those are the two things that are always like general
- 49:09Speaker 4: like rules, like I cannot make someone fall in love
- 49:12Speaker 4: with you, and I cannot bring somebody back from the dead.
- 49:14Speaker 4: So it's really something too like think about because you
- 49:21Speaker 4: wouldn't necessarily think they would have a room because also
- 49:24Speaker 4: I imagine this pink, bubbly room, but I don't know,
- 49:28Speaker 4: it's probably not like that. But yeah, wonder when I got.
- 49:35Speaker 2: Me thinking too, like if really this room does focus
- 49:39Speaker 2: just on love or just emotions in general, and love
- 49:43Speaker 2: is just kind of one of the bigger ones. But
- 49:45Speaker 2: I think that, Yeah, I mean there's such an emphasis
- 49:48Speaker 2: in this series on love. I mean, at the end
- 49:50Speaker 2: of the day, like that's what protects Harry, right, is
- 49:53Speaker 2: this like mysterious love protection that is like in his blood?
- 49:58Speaker 2: And I totally see that being something that they're studying
- 50:01Speaker 2: in this department, Like how does this sacrifice of love
- 50:05Speaker 2: translate to all of a sudden you've got this protection
- 50:07Speaker 2: and you're in the blood because you shared blood with
- 50:10Speaker 2: somebody who sacrifice, Like, I have so many questions about that,
- 50:13Speaker 2: And also I mean, you know Dumbledore too, you know
- 50:17Speaker 2: this really, you know Bright Wizard, who's been really interested
- 50:22Speaker 2: his whole life, I think in studying mysterious things, you know,
- 50:25Speaker 2: and everything, says himself that he thinks that love is
- 50:29Speaker 2: the most mysterious subject of study that they do at
- 50:32Speaker 2: the department and is the most powerful force to ever
- 50:34Speaker 2: exist in the universe, which kind of seems so crazy,
- 50:40Speaker 2: I think when you think of everything, Yeah, just how
- 50:45Speaker 2: much focus is given on on love, But like there's
- 50:49Speaker 2: so many It's like love is such an umbrella thing
- 50:52Speaker 2: with like all these other little things that can happen
- 50:57Speaker 2: and are influenced by love or lack of love, right,
- 51:01Speaker 2: So like it's that was a very vague disription, but
- 51:05Speaker 2: hopefully you would know what I mean. I can't even
- 51:07Speaker 2: put it into words. Really that thinking about it that way,
- 51:12Speaker 2: it would make sense that they would devote so much
- 51:14Speaker 2: time to studying love because it affects so many other things.
- 51:18Speaker 2: It's not just this one sole thing. Yeah.
- 51:24Speaker 1: Interesting. Yeah, So we move on from love to death
- 51:33Speaker 1: with the death Chamber aka the Veil Room, which I
- 51:38Speaker 1: know we've talked about before, but that's this room where
- 51:43Speaker 1: you know, there's the raised kind of benches around it,
- 51:47Speaker 1: and then in the middle is the dais with the
- 51:50Speaker 1: veil and all of that.
- 51:56Speaker 2: Yeah, this room is I think probably like the most mysterious,
- 52:02Speaker 2: like in a way. And I think that similarityly to
- 52:07Speaker 2: how earlier we were talking about Ron kind of having
- 52:09Speaker 2: this weird kind of thing with the brain room. We
- 52:12Speaker 2: see this a lot in this room. That's kind of
- 52:15Speaker 2: what I was referring to. I think that, you know,
- 52:18Speaker 2: Hermione becomes very unsettled by the archway, but Harry is
- 52:24Speaker 2: so drawn to it, you know, and he talks about
- 52:27Speaker 2: how it has a kind of beauty about it, and
- 52:30Speaker 2: he's so intrigued by it to the point that he
- 52:33Speaker 2: just had such this He describes it as having a
- 52:35Speaker 2: very strong inclination to climb right up on the dais
- 52:38Speaker 2: and walk through it, almost like it's calling to him
- 52:41Speaker 2: and drawing him, and you know, and then as he
- 52:44Speaker 2: gets closer, he hears this faint whispering. And it always
- 52:48Speaker 2: made me think, like, is there something built into this
- 52:51Speaker 2: veil to purposefully lure you, you know, if you start
- 52:55Speaker 2: to get close. And I kept just thinking of like
- 52:58Speaker 2: sirens and like a siren song, and how that is
- 53:03Speaker 2: meant to like lure sailors, you know, into the water,
- 53:06Speaker 2: and it's very similar in the way right that it's
- 53:09Speaker 2: these whispers and these voices, and you're just like what
- 53:13Speaker 2: is that and you're just it's like Hermione had to
- 53:15Speaker 2: like forcibly pull Harry away and snap him out of it.
- 53:20Speaker 1: Do you think because Harry's basically marked for death, do
- 53:26Speaker 1: you think that's why the veil is like calling to him,
- 53:29Speaker 1: because it's like, we recognize you, You're supposed to join us,
- 53:33Speaker 1: And he's like subconsciously like, yeah, this is what I'm
- 53:37Speaker 1: supposed to do, Like I'm supposed to go through this
- 53:39Speaker 1: veil because I'm supposed to die. But obviously he doesn't
- 53:46Speaker 1: know that yet.
- 53:47Speaker 2: It's like he cheated death in a way.
- 53:51Speaker 1: And then neither can live while the other survives. You know,
- 53:54Speaker 1: he doesn't know that he has to die in order
- 53:58Speaker 1: to defeat Valtimore. Yet he'll find that out. But it's
- 54:03Speaker 1: almost like, yeah, it's like it's calling to him because
- 54:07Speaker 1: he's supposed to die.
- 54:09Speaker 2: Possibly because you know, I was also thinking and another
- 54:11Speaker 2: thing I noticed was that Hermione really seems to be
- 54:14Speaker 2: like the only person who's not entranced by this veil.
- 54:20Speaker 2: And she's kind of the one. I feel like it's
- 54:22Speaker 2: still like level headed in this whole moment of like
- 54:25Speaker 2: we need to get out of here, like there is
- 54:26Speaker 2: something wrong. In that chapter two, you have Neville and
- 54:29Speaker 2: Ginny that seemed to also be very entranced by the veil,
- 54:33Speaker 2: maybe not to the extent of Harry, you know, but
- 54:36Speaker 2: Hermione also kind of has to pull them all away
- 54:39Speaker 2: from it and it and I kind of like I
- 54:41Speaker 2: had that question of like why do we think that is?
- 54:43Speaker 2: But it's like, in a way, did Neville almost like
- 54:47Speaker 2: cheat death too, because like the prophecy could have been
- 54:49Speaker 2: about him? And then Ginny also kind of cheats death
- 54:53Speaker 2: in the whole chamber of secrets and being in the
- 54:55Speaker 2: chamber Yeah, I mean Luna can hear the way whispering
- 55:00Speaker 2: too though, So that made me think, is this similar
- 55:02Speaker 2: to like fstorals, like you can see the best rules
- 55:05Speaker 2: if you've experienced or witnessed death, and that's why Harry
- 55:08Speaker 2: I can hear the whispering.
- 55:10Speaker 4: Yeah, And I like maybe Hermione was the one who
- 55:14Speaker 4: had least to lose at that point, like she hadn't
- 55:17Speaker 4: suffered probably anything close to someone dying, but Harry did,
- 55:22Speaker 4: like Luna did. Uh, well Neville basically his parents are
- 55:28Speaker 4: still alive, but in such conditions that so, and then
- 55:34Speaker 4: you have Ginny and well, we don't really know if
- 55:36Speaker 4: Ginny suffered anything at that point, but I.
- 55:42Speaker 2: Think other than the whole chamber of secret thing, I
- 55:44Speaker 2: feel like that.
- 55:45Speaker 4: Yeah, so I think it can call yeah, people like
- 55:49Speaker 4: it's kind of like pulling you in like you've cheated death.
- 55:53Speaker 4: But at the same time, it's the whispers of people
- 55:55Speaker 4: that you've lost or something that you've you know, like
- 55:58Speaker 4: best rules, So it manifests in a much noticeable and
- 56:04Speaker 4: bigger way than those who haven't been through that. So
- 56:09Speaker 4: maybe that's why Hermione was so let's say conscious at
- 56:13Speaker 4: that time. And you know, I don't know, could be
- 56:18Speaker 4: related to that too, like both.
- 56:21Speaker 1: I was thinking that too, like if you had people
- 56:28Speaker 1: waiting for you on the other side, would you hear
- 56:31Speaker 1: the whispers? And we know that Harry and Luna do
- 56:35Speaker 1: have people waiting for them on the other side of death,
- 56:39Speaker 1: not so much the others, So maybe that's why those
- 56:44Speaker 1: two can hear the whispering.
- 56:49Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's really kind of scary. I wonder
- 56:55Speaker 2: like the people that work in that room if they're
- 57:00Speaker 2: is like really certain kind of I don't know, credentials
- 57:06Speaker 2: that you have to meet, because if there's something about
- 57:09Speaker 2: the veil that is luring you or is potentially like
- 57:15Speaker 2: you don't have somebody there to snap you out of
- 57:17Speaker 2: it or pull you away from walking in like you
- 57:22Speaker 2: have to. I don't know. I feel like you have
- 57:23Speaker 2: to be at some kind of level to like be
- 57:27Speaker 2: able to withstand that if you're in that room, right, Yeah,
- 57:37Speaker 2: lots of questions. I know we have lots of questions
- 57:38Speaker 2: about this room when we.
- 57:39Speaker 4: Did our Yeah, But at the same time, you need
- 57:42Speaker 4: to have some sort of connection with a veil to study,
- 57:46Speaker 4: to study it and see, you know, how far it goes.
- 57:50Speaker 4: So maybe it's a two person job. Maybe there's one
- 57:54Speaker 4: that you know, uh stacks you ride out of it
- 57:56Speaker 4: of it, and one that's kind of like pulled in
- 58:01Speaker 4: because I can't see just one. Like if it was Harry,
- 58:04Speaker 4: he could have probably just crossed the veil that would
- 58:07Speaker 4: be it. So it's good that he had to hurt
- 58:09Speaker 4: Minding next to him. But at the same time, I
- 58:12Speaker 4: think Hermione would be able to contribute as much as
- 58:15Speaker 4: he would because he's sensing things from that that she hasn't,
- 58:21Speaker 4: so yeah, it could be just a also group of
- 58:23Speaker 4: people who work there. Like I don't know, speakables are
- 58:27Speaker 4: such a mystery at this point.
- 58:31Speaker 2: When I think we talked in our Unanswered Questions episode
- 58:35Speaker 2: about I feel like I remember mentioning like wondering if
- 58:39Speaker 2: part of what they're studying as well is like the
- 58:42Speaker 2: ability to like cross over into like the land of
- 58:46Speaker 2: the dead and be able to come back, and if
- 58:49Speaker 2: that's maybe one of the things that they're looking at.
- 58:53Speaker 2: And I just kind of wonder how many unspeakables have
- 58:56Speaker 2: been lost to the rail for the same right study,
- 59:02Speaker 2: because I'm sure they haven't known that. It's probably an
- 59:04Speaker 2: ongoing thing. Yeah, just yeah, very interesting, and I feel
- 59:10Speaker 2: like answers that will never you know, that will never
- 59:13Speaker 2: get unfortunately mm hmm. But I want to know, because
- 59:18Speaker 2: like my serious is in there, you know, and I
- 59:22Speaker 2: want to so I want to know more about it.
- 59:25Speaker 4: And it's so different what happens to him in the
- 59:27Speaker 4: films than the book, because in the film, Belatrix literally
- 59:33Speaker 4: kills him with the kill with the killing curse. But
- 59:39Speaker 4: if I'm not mistaken, the book, he gets he gets
- 59:42Speaker 4: pushed into the veil. So I think the book raises
- 59:49Speaker 4: more questions in that way because in the films he
- 59:53Speaker 4: just he he can tell that he died by the
- 59:57Speaker 4: killing curse.
- 59:57Speaker 1: But I I remember when the book came curse.
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: I think he got hit with like a curse that
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: the killing curse.
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: They didn't specify what curse. It was so like people
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: were like, well, was he just stunned? But then the
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: movie came out and it was a vetic cadaver or
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: green and everyone was like, oh, which is not happened?
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: Like I think that makes sense, Like I feel like
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: it made sense in the movie to do it that way.
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: So it was very clear, like we're killing this character.
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: And it was probably because people were so like uncertain,
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: they were probably like, we got to.
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: Make this question, right. Did he die because he fell
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: through the veil or did he die because of the curse.
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: My belief is that he died because he fell through
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: the veil. He was just kind of at the wrong
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: place at the wrong time when he was hit with
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: that curse. Why we're dueling right in front of this
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: mysterious veil, I don't know. Not one of the smarter moves,
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: but I think passing through that veil is ultimately what
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: caused his death, because it's like this one way, one
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: way highway right into the afterlife, but right in the
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: movie it kind of just gets rid of that question.
- 1:01:13Speaker 4: Also the fact that speaking of like, you know, life
- 1:01:17Speaker 4: and death, how wizards can choose if they want to
- 1:01:21Speaker 4: come back as a ghost. But they say, like those
- 1:01:25Speaker 4: who are smart don't. So I'm guessing like everyone who
- 1:01:30Speaker 4: passes away chooses not to come back as one. But
- 1:01:36Speaker 4: it's really interesting to think about that and be like, Okay,
- 1:01:39Speaker 4: so they know what happens in the afterlife. At least
- 1:01:41Speaker 4: they have that sorted somehow. So yeah, like it's it's
- 1:01:47Speaker 4: really interesting how they how they treat death in the series.
- 1:01:51Speaker 4: But at the same time, they even if you return
- 1:01:54Speaker 4: as a ghost, even if they paint you in a
- 1:01:57Speaker 4: portrait that has your characteristics and you're you know, your personality,
- 1:02:03Speaker 4: it's you know, you can never come back from death,
- 1:02:06Speaker 4: and it's as deep as that. Not even magic can
- 1:02:09Speaker 4: bring you back, same as love. Not even the most
- 1:02:11Speaker 4: powerful love potion can imitate that, and such a universal thing.
- 1:02:17Speaker 4: So it's great that they have these rooms, Like it's
- 1:02:19Speaker 4: such a an interesting thing that they're studying these two
- 1:02:22Speaker 4: things that are so unattainable even with magic, and yeah,
- 1:02:29Speaker 4: I like, you know, it's such a mystery what this
- 1:02:33Speaker 4: room actually you know, what's behind the veil? Like what's
- 1:02:36Speaker 4: behind what happens to you? You know, to get like
- 1:02:41Speaker 4: are you in some sort of like a limbo or something.
- 1:02:43Speaker 4: Are you like in between two worlds for the rest
- 1:02:46Speaker 4: of eternity to get to move and you know, just
- 1:02:51Speaker 4: choose your path, you know what I mean, like in
- 1:02:54Speaker 4: the afterlife, like.
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: I picture like and I don't know again, I can't
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: remember if I thought this when we talked about it before.
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: I feel like I definitely remember mentioning Coco and like
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: that whole thing. But I also I can't remember I
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: remember said this before. But as you were describing that, Tom,
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: like all I could picture was from Pirates of the
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: Caribbean and like Davy Jones Locker and like how like
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: when they're on the ship and they're passing through like
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: all of these souls that are just in the water
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: like moving to that and I just like picture that
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: behind the veil. It's like this constant or you get
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: that description a lot in like the Underworld, like like
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: with Hades and the way that they're like kind of
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: on just this never kind of ending journey. And another
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: thing you meant you said that kind of like struck
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: out to me is you know, like even in magic,
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: when we have something like the Resurrection Stone that is
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: something that's like bringing someone back, it's still never even
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: actually bringing them back. It's like it's all this like
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: faux pov like actually bringing someone back. There's no way
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: to actually do it. But it seems like the Resurrection
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: Stone kind of gets the closest, but not even that
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: can fully bring somebody back.
- 1:04:06Speaker 4: Yeah, it's like everything comes with the price, no matter what.
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: So it would defy the law of time in a way.
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: We talked about this outleas and how much her going
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: back in time affected all these other things. If you
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: were able to just bring people back from the dead,
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: you're changing core events and history and it could just
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: upset the entire balance of everything of time, if you
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: were able to bring people back that are not meant
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: to still be in that time. Yeah, it's all interplayed.
- 1:04:38Speaker 4: Like I've I've always thought like why didn't Dumblore go
- 1:04:41Speaker 4: back in time and save Harry's parents, and all of
- 1:04:45Speaker 4: these questions that you.
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: Could it would change all the events.
- 1:04:48Speaker 4: Yeah, you know things that seem to be plot holes,
- 1:04:52Speaker 4: like initially when you start digging deeper and you start
- 1:04:55Speaker 4: studying the consequences of time traveling and everything that you said, like,
- 1:05:01Speaker 4: you can't just do it. You can't just undo something
- 1:05:04Speaker 4: because of the consequences how much it would change and
- 1:05:08Speaker 4: you know, the balance in the world would just go
- 1:05:10Speaker 4: upside down and it could be catastrophical. So it does
- 1:05:16Speaker 4: make sense why time turners are used only for like
- 1:05:18Speaker 4: really short periods of time to make sure that nothing,
- 1:05:22Speaker 4: you know, is changed, like nothing big or even small.
- 1:05:27Speaker 4: I think, like you can't change anything.
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: Well, when we see that encouraged child right like Altimore day,
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: it's the whole consequence of them changing something and obviously
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: they're able to change things back right and rewrite stuff,
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: but that's not always the case anything. Especially at the
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: end too, when we get that really emotional scene of
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: you know, Harry and everybody like viewing you know, the
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: death of Lily and James again and you know it's
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: and how much it's like that call of like they're
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: right there, like let me just save them, and it's
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: like you can't because you like nothing that has ever happened,
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: would happen if you save them in that moment, like
- 1:06:07Speaker 2: it off sense the balance of everything, and yeah, time's crazy,
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: you know when you think about it, and.
- 1:06:16Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah you could just go insay trying to
- 1:06:20Speaker 4: think of all these loopholes and things, and you know,
- 1:06:23Speaker 4: like it's it's it's a really complex thing.
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: I watch a lot of time travel like stuff, and
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: like Doctor Who especially has like really given me a
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: lot of like things. And you know in every different,
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: every different like medium treats, they had they developed their
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: own rules for time travel, right, Like certain things in
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: Doctor Who is different than time travel and Harry Potter
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: that's different in Outlander that's different in all these other
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: things that involve time travel, but they all kind of
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: have that same basic rule of like there are core
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: events that you cannot change because of the domino effect
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: of changing that, like that law still holds true, and yeah,
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: it's that's true.
- 1:07:08Speaker 4: Crazy, Yes, Like you cannot see your own self, whether
- 1:07:13Speaker 4: it's in the in the past. Yeah no way, Like
- 1:07:18Speaker 4: that's like rule number one almost. Yeah, so cool, love time.
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: So that's only six of the twelve doors. So what
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: do we think is behind the other six doors? Do
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: we have ideas.
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: Well? Because we just talked about the death room. One
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: thing I thought was like a juxtaposition to that, so
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: like studying like life and like the soul.
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: Yeah, which makes sense because like I feel like they
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: would be maybe continuing Flamel's kind of studies of like
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: the elixir of life or even wore cruxis because that's
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: kind of the like dark taboo thing that I feel
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: like Department of Mysteries would start looking into, but like
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: just to understand it.
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: The extension, right, or like the extension of life and
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: studying what what do we need to do to like
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: extend life or what are the what are the key
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: facets of life and the soul that make it go away?
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: Or even like what you were saying too, Tom about
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: like people being able to come back as ghosts. Like
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: I know that's still like that's more about like the
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: death realm, but I could also see it also being
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: study in a room about life and soul and like
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: what needs to happen to like have your soul continue
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: on in a certain way that isn't death, I mean,
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: because at that point it's different than death, right, Like
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: the act of death has already happened, but there's this
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: continuation and like where do you study that? About that?
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I thought of like matter, because we
- 1:09:16Speaker 3: know that there's limitations to magic when it comes to transfiguration.
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: And conjuring things, food and all of that, Like you
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: can't really make something of nothing, So would they be
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: studying matter and how that all works to see like
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: why that might be and maybe push those limitations a
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: little bit mm.
- 1:09:37Speaker 3: Hm m hm.
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: Yeah. Some I thought of like inexperience, just kind of
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: like a general like experimental room where like they study
- 1:09:47Speaker 2: creating certain potions, the effects of certain potions, and also
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: like even possibly the creation of like magic and spells,
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: like new magic and spells, like I feel like you
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: need to have like obviously we know that, like you know,
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: Snape creates a spell and everything, so people can still
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: do it, but I feel like these official spells and everything,
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: there should be this like controlled environment where those things
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: are created and stored. And I think similarly I had
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: thought of like there, I feel like there would be
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: a room studying magic itself, like the essence of magic,
- 1:10:23Speaker 2: because it's like when it they have a lot of
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: questions about this thing that they all have and right,
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: maybe that goes hand in hand in this experimental room
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: of creation of magic and spells. That's like an offshoot
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: of understanding how magic itself works. Why do we have
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: like why do we have this power in us?
- 1:10:42Speaker 3: Like?
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: What is it about us that gives us this ability
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: to have this force?
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: M Yeah, which I mean we do know that they
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: studied enough to know that, like which is in wizards
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: are born not so it would totally make sense if
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: they had a room dedicated to that sort of thing.
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: Yeah, it kind of reminds me of like Star Wars
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: a bit, like I'm always the one to bring in
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: other fandoms here, but like it reminds me of like
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: the prequels introduce us to the idea of mediclorians, which
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: is controversial. Some people don't love this idea. I like it,
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: but it kind of is like these medchlorians are what
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: the count of mediclorian that you have in your body
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: is kind of like what dictates the amount of the
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: force that you have. It's like it's like this, it's
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: this biological manifestation of the force. And I could see,
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: you know, in the Department of Mysteries studying something similarly
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: is there something about our biological makeup that allows us
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: to have this magic, especially because we know that there
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: is like this genetic component to it with some exceptions,
- 1:12:02Speaker 2: and that studying the exceptions, right, how do you have
- 1:12:05Speaker 2: two magical parents and possibly have a child that doesn't
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: have magic? Or where does magic come from when you
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: have two muggle parents? You know, like just understanding like
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: the biology of that.
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: Mm hmmm, yeah, those are all good ones. Yeah, huh, it's.
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: Deep, it is It's this might be the first time
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: that's ever left us speechless.
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:12:56Speaker 4: I wonder if we'll ever know what it's behind the
- 1:12:58Speaker 4: other doors.
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:13:06Speaker 4: I mean I feel like, yeah.
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: That's been great, and like, no, like the encyclopedia that
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: we were like supposed to get that we didn't really
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: almanac is really not the same. That would have been
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: a great place.
- 1:13:18Speaker 4: She confirmed it so many times that we were going
- 1:13:21Speaker 4: to get one in her website and everything, and then.
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: We just get this almanac.
- 1:13:26Speaker 4: Yeah, and we got Potter More. So when whenever we
- 1:13:29Speaker 4: got Potter More was like, Okay, that's the encyclopedia you
- 1:13:32Speaker 4: were asking for, But it was like, no, I was
- 1:13:34Speaker 4: expecting like a thousand book page with every single thing
- 1:13:38Speaker 4: that we you know, didn't know or mysteries, unsolved questions.
- 1:13:44Speaker 4: There are some really good q and as with J. K. Rowling,
- 1:13:47Speaker 4: like after definitely hollows and she answers a lot of questions.
- 1:13:50Speaker 4: But yeah, these things are left, you know, like in
- 1:13:55Speaker 4: the air, and you never really know what these are.
- 1:13:59Speaker 4: But it's so interesting thing, and you wonder, you know,
- 1:14:01Speaker 4: does she even know did she even think it was
- 1:14:03Speaker 4: necessary to for the story? I wouldn't be surprised as
- 1:14:08Speaker 4: she did though if there was, like what these other
- 1:14:11Speaker 4: six stores are, but they were not pivotal to the story,
- 1:14:16Speaker 4: so why you know why diving into it?
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: I feel like some of the rooms we saw weren't
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: even necessarily like that made me wonder, like the rooms
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: that we did see, like why were those the rooms
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: we saw? Obviously the death chamber right, that was like
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: a foreshadow of what was to come.
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: I think like.
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: The whole locked room with the love I think that's
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: also even a little bit of an easter eggy shadow thing.
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: But like the space in the brain room, it kind
- 1:14:41Speaker 2: of just like cool, Yeah, you know, other than that,
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: it didn't necessarily play a role or anything.
- 1:14:46Speaker 4: Yeah, well, an action sequence or two something.
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, and obviously Time Turners was a whole kind
- 1:14:52Speaker 2: of callback to that whole thing. Yeah, it's like, why
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: don't introduce something that's such a cool topic to them,
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: like it was a little bit of it.
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: It gives us so much to talk about here, though,
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: this is true.
- 1:15:06Speaker 4: Yeah, and if we ever get that Universal Theme Park expansion,
- 1:15:12Speaker 4: that little ride, who knows who you might get those answers.
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: I mean, maybe people don't care as much as we
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: do about this. I'm sure people. I'm sure people do.
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: But I wonder in the fandom in general, are people
- 1:15:26Speaker 2: like losing sleep? And I'm thinking about the Department of Mysteries.
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: Every night I go to bed. It's behind the other six.
- 1:15:33Speaker 2: Doors tonight, I'm thinking about it when I'm laying in bed.
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: For a little title screen pops up twenty years later,
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: the doors.
- 1:15:45Speaker 2: I'm going to be on. My dad sad, like, I
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: still don't know what's on the doors in a department of.
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: Who? Yeah, anyway, that's that.
- 1:16:05Speaker 2: Yeah huh, yeah, No, this was a good topic because yeah,
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: we're kind of completely speechless.
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: Now, got my mind whizzing.
- 1:16:21Speaker 5: Yeah, h oh, let's move on then, Special.
- 1:16:43Speaker 4: Okay for this uh. For this week's rotating segment, we
- 1:16:49Speaker 4: chose against Specialite's rebellion and speaking of love Chambers and
- 1:16:55Speaker 4: Apartment of Mysteries. And you know, it was a good
- 1:16:59Speaker 4: opportunity to mention one of the most famous potions. It's mortensia.
- 1:17:06Speaker 4: So we want to discuss a little bit about, you know,
- 1:17:09Speaker 4: giving a little recap I'm sure everyone remembers, but about
- 1:17:13Speaker 4: what it is and the effects, and a little bit
- 1:17:16Speaker 4: about the etymology and its origins. And yeah, so as
- 1:17:22Speaker 4: we all remember, it's the most powerful potion in the world,
- 1:17:26Speaker 4: and quite possibly one of the most dangerous ones. And
- 1:17:30Speaker 4: we are speaking in the context of a room with
- 1:17:32Speaker 4: polyjuice potion, very deserum fields felices, and so that gives
- 1:17:37Speaker 4: you a little bit of a hint of how powerful
- 1:17:40Speaker 4: and dangerous it is. It smells different to each person
- 1:17:44Speaker 4: according to what they're attracted to, and it is recognizable
- 1:17:48Speaker 4: by its mother of pearl sheen and spiraling steam. According
- 1:17:54Speaker 4: to Professor Slughorn, it can cause serious infatuation or obsession
- 1:17:58Speaker 4: in the drinker as it is impossible, as we said,
- 1:18:02Speaker 4: to manufacture or imitate love. So it is believed to
- 1:18:07Speaker 4: have been created or at least perfected by a famous
- 1:18:10Speaker 4: potiononeer and pioneer of love potions called Laverne the Montmorency,
- 1:18:18Speaker 4: and she was a raven claw and she earned her
- 1:18:21Speaker 4: own chocolate frog, as seen in the first Harry Potter
- 1:18:25Speaker 4: video games. So that's that. So a little bit about
- 1:18:30Speaker 4: the etymology of the words. So this word has two
- 1:18:34Speaker 4: Latin roots. So one of them is Amore, which is
- 1:18:39Speaker 4: a Roman god of love, and the word amor means
- 1:18:43Speaker 4: love in both Latin and Spanish. So for me, whenever
- 1:18:46Speaker 4: I read about that, being a Spanish speaker, I was like, yeah,
- 1:18:50Speaker 4: more retention. It makes sense, like it's love, it's not
- 1:18:53Speaker 4: you know, so so yeah, and it can refer to
- 1:18:58Speaker 4: romantic or passionate love, or affection and fondness. But interestingly,
- 1:19:04Speaker 4: the god Amor is more famously known as Cupid, so
- 1:19:09Speaker 4: he's that you know image you see in cards and
- 1:19:12Speaker 4: visual media, this youthful figure or naked winged boy carrying
- 1:19:17Speaker 4: a bow and quiver field filled with arrows. So that's
- 1:19:23Speaker 4: the part of the first part of the word. So
- 1:19:25Speaker 4: for the second, so we got there was two options.
- 1:19:30Speaker 4: So one of them is Tensha, with derives from tempto
- 1:19:34Speaker 4: in Latin, which is to try to influence or tamper with,
- 1:19:38Speaker 4: and is also related to temptation in a moral or
- 1:19:43Speaker 4: emotional sense, but it could also derive from attensha, which
- 1:19:48Speaker 4: means attention. This is more late Latin or medieval Latin,
- 1:19:52Speaker 4: so I think either way, it's very much like they're
- 1:19:57Speaker 4: all pretty much related as it's wanting to tamper with
- 1:20:03Speaker 4: or influence someone else's I don't want to say emotions
- 1:20:07Speaker 4: because it's not what you're actually doing, because you're not
- 1:20:10Speaker 4: creating this person becoming. It's more like an infatuation and obsession,
- 1:20:17Speaker 4: and also you want that person's attention. So I think
- 1:20:22Speaker 4: both options are equally valid, and they speak as you know,
- 1:20:26Speaker 4: to what the word and the potion itself really speaks of.
- 1:20:33Speaker 4: So yeah, it's an interesting, really simple word. But at
- 1:20:38Speaker 4: the same time, it's interesting that these two have, like
- 1:20:41Speaker 4: you know, it's almost like opposites like love, attention and
- 1:20:47Speaker 4: temptation and also obsession, so it's kind of like it's
- 1:20:50Speaker 4: something dangerous going on. So yeah, I thought it was interesting.
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I've also seen the interpretation of tensia in Latin
- 1:21:00Speaker 2: and having a couple of meanings, one of them being
- 1:21:02Speaker 2: related to the concept of holding or keeping something, which
- 1:21:07Speaker 2: also makes a lot of sense here, right, especially when
- 1:21:09Speaker 2: you're using it. You're you're like doing it to keep
- 1:21:12Speaker 2: this thing for yourself. Yes, And then I think I've
- 1:21:16Speaker 2: also seen something it's like the other meaning it's related
- 1:21:19Speaker 2: to a word like temptatio or something like that. I
- 1:21:22Speaker 2: saw and this relates to the word temptation. But I
- 1:21:27Speaker 2: think really that holding or keeping something and that having
- 1:21:31Speaker 2: the intention of like really, oh yeah, and you kind
- 1:21:34Speaker 2: of mentioned the tenshia with temptation. It's like two different
- 1:21:38Speaker 2: words that are kind of similar. But yeah, that holding
- 1:21:41Speaker 2: or keeping something like really stood out to me, especially
- 1:21:44Speaker 2: when you're like using the love potion kind of for
- 1:21:47Speaker 2: in a bad way. You're really trying to use it
- 1:21:50Speaker 2: to hold on to something.
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: Like to trap someone.
- 1:21:54Speaker 2: Yeah, yes, and keep them for yourself.
- 1:22:00Speaker 4: And can sive the baby under that potion?
- 1:22:02Speaker 2: Which is that the Dark Wizard because conceived babies while
- 1:22:08Speaker 2: under this potion.
- 1:22:10Speaker 4: Yeah, it is not clear though if she used armortensia
- 1:22:13Speaker 4: or she used her own concoction, like her own like
- 1:22:18Speaker 4: like household potion. Like that's true, so it's never really confirmed,
- 1:22:24Speaker 4: and it's confirmed that he was conceived with a love potion,
- 1:22:27Speaker 4: but it's never really confirmed if it's armortensia, because but
- 1:22:33Speaker 4: I think that the effects could have been the same.
- 1:22:37Speaker 2: Right, Like is it is mortensia like our only love
- 1:22:40Speaker 2: potion or is there variations of the you know, the
- 1:22:43Speaker 2: love potion. And so it's like maybe they all have
- 1:22:45Speaker 2: some type of similar property that makes them a love potion.
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: But they all and maybe this is something they study
- 1:22:55Speaker 2: in the love room, the effects of different types of
- 1:22:58Speaker 2: love potions. Mhmm, yeah, but they all I feel like
- 1:23:02Speaker 2: they all have to have one core thing that's similar
- 1:23:06Speaker 2: in all of them that makes them that love potion.
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: But yeah, yeah, well because we see Fred and George
- 1:23:14Speaker 2: have that line of love potions as.
- 1:23:16Speaker 4: Well, but they are ont like.
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: It.
- 1:23:23Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, they're kind of secondhand, like yeah, yeah, not
- 1:23:31Speaker 4: top notch quality, but yeah maybe for something like really yeah.
- 1:23:37Speaker 2: Like a joke kind of Yeah. It's like it doesn't
- 1:23:40Speaker 2: even seem like it's it's not to the level of life,
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: you know, even like ron like being under like a
- 1:23:46Speaker 2: love potion, Like it's not even to that extent. It's
- 1:23:50Speaker 2: it's very much just I don't know, I think of
- 1:23:52Speaker 2: like I don't know, I guess maybe think of something
- 1:23:54Speaker 2: like not like I don't know I can't think of
- 1:23:57Speaker 2: a candy that we have, like in the Muggle world
- 1:23:59Speaker 2: that gives you like temporary like obviously affects to the
- 1:24:04Speaker 2: the thing the effect of a love potion, but something
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: that just kind of very temporarily like messes with your
- 1:24:11Speaker 2: senses in like a funny way, but very quickly goes
- 1:24:16Speaker 2: away before you could ever.
- 1:24:18Speaker 4: Like a good meal unless you finish it.
- 1:24:21Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:24:21Speaker 2: Gone. I think when in the movie, right when they're
- 1:24:24Speaker 2: eating the sweets that like cause them to like make
- 1:24:27Speaker 2: animal sounds, they don't like turn into that animal. They
- 1:24:29Speaker 2: don't remain acting like that animal. It's like, hey, I
- 1:24:32Speaker 2: pop this in and then I wore and then I'm done.
- 1:24:36Speaker 2: It's like maybe Fred and George have it in this
- 1:24:38Speaker 2: this very basic level, and maybe it's not even really
- 1:24:42Speaker 2: truly like a love potion. It's more this like simulation
- 1:24:47Speaker 2: of a love potion, but it doesn't actually have the
- 1:24:50Speaker 2: properties of a love potion.
- 1:24:52Speaker 4: Yeah, like version yeah, mm hmm m.
- 1:25:00Speaker 2: Yeah, just a very interesting potion.
- 1:25:03Speaker 4: Mm hmm.
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: I feel like it's one that on the surface just
- 1:25:06Speaker 2: seems like so good, you know, but really I feel
- 1:25:12Speaker 2: like it is like if you were to classify potions
- 1:25:17Speaker 2: into like this is a good potion, like an antidote,
- 1:25:19Speaker 2: right that saves you. And these are all these potions
- 1:25:22Speaker 2: that are really bad, Like I feel like amortensia is
- 1:25:25Speaker 2: more on that bad category good.
- 1:25:27Speaker 4: Like how can you think of is there any way
- 1:25:30Speaker 4: you could think of it having a good use like
- 1:25:32Speaker 4: for good? Like why would you useta?
- 1:25:36Speaker 2: Like I know because I think like I don't know,
- 1:25:43Speaker 2: we need to go into the love chamber and study love.
- 1:25:45Speaker 2: I think that like for all the reasons of good love, Right,
- 1:25:49Speaker 2: that's developed naturally. You don't need a potion to develop that.
- 1:25:54Speaker 2: And so any way that if it's already not developing
- 1:25:57Speaker 2: naturally for a reason, there's a bigger issue there or
- 1:26:01Speaker 2: there's a bigger thing that's there and you can't Like
- 1:26:06Speaker 2: it's like I don't feel like you can force love. No,
- 1:26:10Speaker 2: you can try, but you're just pretending and it always
- 1:26:14Speaker 2: comes out in the end. And I just know I
- 1:26:17Speaker 2: can't think of a good reason you would know?
- 1:26:20Speaker 4: And why are they teaching it at Hobwarts, Like why
- 1:26:22Speaker 4: are they six years curriculum?
- 1:26:25Speaker 3: Like that.
- 1:26:28Speaker 4: Terrible idea?
- 1:26:31Speaker 2: Right, if we're not teaching polyjuice potion, we shouldn't be
- 1:26:33Speaker 2: teaching ambert.
- 1:26:35Speaker 4: Right, Like all those potions are sketchy if you think
- 1:26:37Speaker 4: about it, like, why are they teaching those things to
- 1:26:41Speaker 4: six Yeah, to six years?
- 1:26:43Speaker 2: Like no, I think unless your potion is like an
- 1:26:48Speaker 2: antidote to something, it's probably not good like or yeah,
- 1:26:53Speaker 2: like I don't know, Yeah, you're very interesting.
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: It's any.
- 1:27:02Speaker 2: Well. Speaking of questions, last week we asked what is
- 1:27:08Speaker 2: your favorite Wizarding World food or one that you would
- 1:27:10Speaker 2: like to try, and we got a few responses. So
- 1:27:14Speaker 2: Jerry shared that she has hosted several Harry Potter parties
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: and events during the time the books were coming out,
- 1:27:21Speaker 2: and she made her own attempts at them foods. She
- 1:27:24Speaker 2: made a treacle tart using important English Lyle's Golden syrup
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: and it was very tasty. She said, if you like
- 1:27:31Speaker 2: sweet things but rich enough and difficult enough to make
- 1:27:34Speaker 2: in small amounts that she doesn't make regularly for just
- 1:27:38Speaker 2: herself and her husband, you would have to make this
- 1:27:40Speaker 2: kind of for a largest group. She said that she's
- 1:27:44Speaker 2: also made some homemade attempts at butter beer, starting with
- 1:27:47Speaker 2: cream soda and butterscotch syrup and a small scoop of
- 1:27:50Speaker 2: vanilla ice cream which was okay. And trifles have been
- 1:27:53Speaker 2: something that she makes for fancy desserts for years, and
- 1:27:57Speaker 2: some cookies with pumpkin and chocolate chips that she calls
- 1:28:00Speaker 2: pumpkin pasties, and she says, although I'm not sure that
- 1:28:03Speaker 2: that's what JKR intended, She said, I don't remember the
- 1:28:06Speaker 2: rest of the menu at those events. It was rather
- 1:28:09Speaker 2: long ago now. Jerry also goes on to list that
- 1:28:12Speaker 2: some of her favorite Wizarding World theme park foods are
- 1:28:15Speaker 2: hot and frozen butter beer, peppermint toads, fudge from Honey
- 1:28:19Speaker 2: Dukes and Flooring, and Fortescu's ice cream. She notes that
- 1:28:22Speaker 2: now she is gluten free, so she can't have some
- 1:28:25Speaker 2: of her favorites like gingernuts and fish and chips, but
- 1:28:28Speaker 2: that Universal has done a decent job overall was including
- 1:28:31Speaker 2: some gluten free alternatives. Jerry also shared that she loves
- 1:28:35Speaker 2: the fee scenes in both the movies and the books,
- 1:28:38Speaker 2: as well as the meals made by Mollie and Queenie,
- 1:28:41Speaker 2: and also wants to eat Jacob's pastries. She says that
- 1:28:46Speaker 2: my one consolation for the fact that it seems like
- 1:28:48Speaker 2: Epic Universe didn't see fit to have a branch of
- 1:28:51Speaker 2: Jacob Bakery and the Wizarding Paris, but now that she's
- 1:28:55Speaker 2: gluten free, she shouldn't eat them anyways, and she said
- 1:28:58Speaker 2: that she is going to get a fantastic quality Baked
- 1:29:02Speaker 2: Goods T shirt to enjoy, which that's another thing we've
- 1:29:04Speaker 2: gotten some look at Kowalski Bakery stuff that is coming.
- 1:29:09Speaker 2: So thanks for bringing that up, Jerry, since the shirts
- 1:29:11Speaker 2: are gluten free and even with a pastries on the front.
- 1:29:19Speaker 2: So yeah, for sure. Yeah, some of the things that
- 1:29:21Speaker 2: you called out and that Jerry like, I Yeah, I
- 1:29:23Speaker 2: think Amy and I talked about or Amy definitely talked
- 1:29:25Speaker 2: about ginger nuts I had. I had my first one
- 1:29:29Speaker 2: when I was universal because I always get pumpkin pasties
- 1:29:31Speaker 2: when I go to Honey Dukes, but I decided to
- 1:29:33Speaker 2: try the ginger newt. It was very good, and actually
- 1:29:37Speaker 2: I also because I was there during butter beer season,
- 1:29:40Speaker 2: so I did try that butterbeer cream puff that is
- 1:29:44Speaker 2: new this year, and I will say that it was good.
- 1:29:48Speaker 2: I think my expectations were built up pretty high based
- 1:29:51Speaker 2: on all the reviews I saw, and I didn't think
- 1:29:53Speaker 2: it necessarily lived up to the reviews. But it was
- 1:29:55Speaker 2: pretty good. But all day I wish I had like
- 1:29:58Speaker 2: just gone to Florian's and got an I scream instead,
- 1:30:01Speaker 2: but it's it's pretty good. Not my favorite butter beer treat,
- 1:30:05Speaker 2: but it's good. And then also Lucy shared with us
- 1:30:11Speaker 2: that she wants to try hot butter beer, and Lucy,
- 1:30:14Speaker 2: you absolutely should try when you come to the parks
- 1:30:17Speaker 2: because in my opinion, it is the superior form of
- 1:30:21Speaker 2: butter beer.
- 1:30:22Speaker 3: No way.
- 1:30:24Speaker 2: Okay, we've definitely talked about this before, and I.
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: Feel like.
- 1:30:30Speaker 4: We can't find common ground here. It's what I came.
- 1:30:33Speaker 2: Was it frozen for you?
- 1:30:35Speaker 4: Yes, frozen is my.
- 1:30:36Speaker 2: Second favorite, So it's you know, there's just something about
- 1:30:41Speaker 2: the hot butter beer that is just so great.
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: It's so creamy and so good.
- 1:30:46Speaker 4: I mean, I have to give it a chance again, Like,
- 1:30:49Speaker 4: but I'm afraid I won't like it.
- 1:30:54Speaker 2: So no, it's so good, and like, I'm not somebody
- 1:30:56Speaker 2: who loves things that is super super sweet, and it
- 1:30:59Speaker 2: doesn't taste sweet and sickly. I feel like it has
- 1:31:02Speaker 2: the potential to, but it doesn't. But in your defense,
- 1:31:05Speaker 2: the frozen is also my like second favorite form, so yeah,
- 1:31:11Speaker 2: after the ice cream, Oh that's so good.
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: Ice cream is.
- 1:31:16Speaker 2: So good and I'm not a huge ice cream fan,
- 1:31:18Speaker 2: but I do love the ice cream, and they did
- 1:31:20Speaker 2: have while I was there, the like ice lolly butter
- 1:31:24Speaker 2: beer one, So it's not the subserve. It's like the
- 1:31:27Speaker 2: popsicle that came out last year during butter beer season.
- 1:31:31Speaker 2: But I think this year, I feel like we talked
- 1:31:33Speaker 2: about it in news. I think it's going to be
- 1:31:35Speaker 2: around all the time now. I think they're always going
- 1:31:37Speaker 2: to have it. But it's like on a stick, and
- 1:31:41Speaker 2: apparently that one's pretty good, so I actually might give
- 1:31:44Speaker 2: that a try, like when I'm there for like longer
- 1:31:46Speaker 2: and have more meals. But I did also see in
- 1:31:49Speaker 2: I didn't see them in Honey Dukes, but I didn't
- 1:31:51Speaker 2: really go over to where they have the birdie pots.
- 1:31:54Speaker 2: But in Sugar Plums they had the butter beer gummies
- 1:31:58Speaker 2: that you.
- 1:31:58Speaker 4: Can get on the barrel, get them inside the barrel.
- 1:32:02Speaker 2: Yeah, they had the barrel the barrel, which so cool.
- 1:32:04Speaker 2: I wish I had.
- 1:32:05Speaker 4: Such a collectible I have that. Yeah, it's so.
- 1:32:07Speaker 2: Good, so cool. But at Sugar Plums you can get
- 1:32:11Speaker 2: an individual like and you know how you can scoop
- 1:32:12Speaker 2: like in the bag. They have the gummies separate and
- 1:32:15Speaker 2: they also had jelly beans, which I meant to go
- 1:32:19Speaker 2: back and get and I had to rush to the
- 1:32:21Speaker 2: air for good. Yeah. So I'm hoping they just keep
- 1:32:25Speaker 2: the butterbeer jelly beans all the time and that's not
- 1:32:27Speaker 2: just a butterbeer season exclusive, because I think those would
- 1:32:33Speaker 2: probably be really good and taste like a nice butter scotch.
- 1:32:36Speaker 4: Yeah. The gummies not so much like they're good. They're
- 1:32:39Speaker 4: fine for what they are, but they're probably too Like
- 1:32:43Speaker 4: my gummies, I need them to be like really sweet,
- 1:32:47Speaker 4: and I don't feel that with these. So it was like, Okay,
- 1:32:49Speaker 4: yes I got to eat them. But you know, when
- 1:32:52Speaker 4: you're eating something because you have to because it's already
- 1:32:55Speaker 4: almost on its expiry dates, You're like, I'm not doing
- 1:32:58Speaker 4: this away, so I'm just gonna not enjoy. But it's yeah,
- 1:33:00Speaker 4: it's not something that I was enjoying eating. So I mean,
- 1:33:04Speaker 4: I thought it was totally worth it because of the barrel.
- 1:33:06Speaker 4: It's such a great that's great. Yeah, but yeah, I
- 1:33:11Speaker 4: wouldn't I wouldn't try it again.
- 1:33:13Speaker 2: Yeah, I will say. I think the thing with the
- 1:33:15Speaker 2: butter beer stuff is that it all tastes slightly different.
- 1:33:19Speaker 2: They don't seem to be able to have a consistent flavor,
- 1:33:23Speaker 2: and then you get this whole range of whether it
- 1:33:26Speaker 2: like has a lot of flavor or doesn't have a
- 1:33:28Speaker 2: lot of flavor. That was the thing I had with
- 1:33:31Speaker 2: this butterbeer cream puff is I don't feel like it
- 1:33:33Speaker 2: had this strong flavor of butter beer. It just felt
- 1:33:36Speaker 2: like I was eating a cream puff that had a
- 1:33:39Speaker 2: little butter beer cookie on it with maybe a hint
- 1:33:41Speaker 2: of like a caramely flavor. But yeah, yeah, the hot
- 1:33:47Speaker 2: butter beer was my favorite butter beer thing I got.
- 1:33:49Speaker 4: Okay, okay, So for our discussion question, we wanted to
