- 1:12This is Inspirations for Your Life.
- 1:14And as you know, we've been talking about
- 1:17a very interesting master topic this week, the
- 1:21power of steady trust building.
- 1:23That is stability in uncertain times, series five,
- 1:28show 28, and it's episode number seven, how
- 1:33the trust becomes your anchor.
- 1:36That's what today's episode is about.
- 1:38Welcome everyone to Inspirations for Your Life.
- 1:40I am John C.
- 1:42Morley, serial entrepreneur, engineer, marketing specialist, video producer,
- 1:46podcast host, coach, keynote speaker, passionate lifelong learner,
- 1:51yes, and a student at Montgomery State University,
- 1:54and so grateful to be a new published
- 1:58author.
- 2:00All right, guys, so this week we've explored
- 2:03how steady trust creates stability when life feels,
- 2:06well, uncertain.
- 2:09Today, I conclude the series by looking at
- 2:12the foundation beneath it all.
- 2:14What is that?
- 2:15Trust itself.
- 2:17An anchor doesn't remove the storm, but it
- 2:22keeps a ship from drifting.
- 2:25In the same way, trust doesn't eliminate life's
- 2:28challenges, but it keeps us grounded when circumstances
- 2:32shift.
- 2:34Let's discover how trust becomes the anchor that
- 2:36allows us to think clearly, shall we?
- 2:39Okay.
- 2:39Act confidently and continue moving forward no matter
- 2:42what life brings our way.
- 2:45Number one, guys, trust stabilizes emotional response.
- 2:49Yes, it does.
- 2:50Trust keeps emotions from controlling every decision we
- 2:54make.
- 2:55Instead of reacting impulsively, you respond with confidence
- 2:59and purpose.
- 3:00I think that's a real earmark that a
- 3:04lot of people miss in life.
- 3:06They miss that point.
- 3:08Number two, anchoring reduces anxiety in uncertainty.
- 3:12Uncertainty creates stress when we feel directionless.
- 3:16A strong anchor reminds you that not every
- 3:19answer has to be known today.
- 3:21That's the key.
- 3:23Number three, stability comes from internal belief.
- 3:27External circumstances constantly change.
- 3:31Lasting stability comes from what you believe within
- 3:35yourself.
- 3:36That's key, guys.
- 3:38Number four, trust replaces fear in decision-making.
- 3:43Fear often freezes progress.
- 3:45Trust allows you to move forward with wisdom
- 3:48instead of hesitation.
- 3:50Number five, you stay grounded when trust is
- 3:54strong.
- 3:55Strong trust keeps temporary problems from becoming permanent
- 4:00discouragement.
- 4:02It reminds you that difficult seasons eventually pass.
- 4:07Number six, guys, anchors hold when conditions shift.
- 4:11Calm waters don't require anchors.
- 4:16Their true value appears when storms arrive, unexpectedly,
- 4:20that is.
- 4:21Number seven, trust builds emotional resilience.
- 4:25Did you know that?
- 4:25Yes, it does.
- 4:26It builds emotional resilience.
- 4:29And I think that's another important thing for
- 4:30a lot of people to recognize and realize
- 4:33that.
- 4:34Every challenge successfully navigated strengthens your confidence.
- 4:40Resilience grows one experience at a time.
- 4:44I think a lot of people try to
- 4:46get things to grow too quickly, and then
- 4:47they're unhappy because it's not where they want
- 4:50to be, or they force something that wasn't
- 4:52supposed to be that way.
- 4:53And I think that can be hard for
- 4:55a lot of people to, you know, digest.
- 4:59Number eight, stability is internal.
- 5:03It's not external.
- 5:05Peace isn't found by controlling everything around you.
- 5:09It begins by strengthening what happens inside you.
- 5:13Number nine, confidence grows from trust.
- 5:17Every step forward reinforces belief in your ability
- 5:21to handle what's next.
- 5:24Confidence grows through experience.
- 5:27And I think if we understand and we
- 5:30believe that, then our life gets a little
- 5:34bit easier.
- 5:35I'm not going to say it's completely easy,
- 5:37but it gets a little bit easier.
- 5:40I think that's a very important milestone for
- 5:43us to realize, you know, and to share,
- 5:46but to be conscious of.
- 5:48I think sometimes, you know, we go for
- 5:52a milestone, but we really aren't going for
- 5:56the milestone.
- 5:56We're going for the victory lap, and we
- 5:59haven't even done the milestone.
- 6:01The victory lap will come, guys, okay?
- 6:03But we have to remember to go for
- 6:06the milestones.
- 6:07Then the victory lap becomes easier, guys, becomes
- 6:12a lot easier at that point in time.
- 6:16So let's choose to embrace that moment in
- 6:19life, okay?
- 6:20Number 10, anchoring creates calmness under pressure.
- 6:26Pressure reveals preparation.
- 6:28Trust helps you remain calm while others become
- 6:32overwhelmed.
- 6:35Yeah.
- 6:37If you could just stay calm while other
- 6:39people fly off the handle and just, you
- 6:42know, just be grateful for that moment of
- 6:44peace, that moment of joy, that moment of
- 6:50just going with the flow.
- 6:54The more we do it, the easier it
- 6:56becomes for us.
- 6:57Number 11, guys, trust reduces overthinking, constant second
- 7:02-guessing.
- 7:04Trains energy.
- 7:05Trust allows your mind to focus on action
- 7:09instead of endless worry, because, see, the brain
- 7:13will do either, okay?
- 7:16It's like a copy machine, right?
- 7:17You tell it to copy once or copy
- 7:18100 times or 1,000 times, it's going
- 7:20to do it.
- 7:20If there's paper and there's ink, it's going
- 7:22to do it.
- 7:22Your brain's going to do it, even though
- 7:23it's going to use a lot of your
- 7:25energy.
- 7:26And I think we don't realize that the
- 7:28things we do in life, they do use
- 7:31energy.
- 7:32But when the body knows it's getting replenished,
- 7:35it's like, hey, I got that.
- 7:37I got that, right?
- 7:38I got that.
- 7:41Number 12, emotional grounding improves clarity.
- 7:47Clear thinking becomes easier when emotions remain balanced.
- 7:55Balance.
- 7:57Balance is a delicate flow, isn't it, guys?
- 8:00I think when we can have balance in
- 8:02life, we can be like, oh, wait a
- 8:05minute.
- 8:05You know, now I can do this and
- 8:06I can walk and I can chew gum.
- 8:07I mean, I'm just being facetious there.
- 8:08But you get my point, that we have
- 8:12to go with the flow.
- 8:14We have to understand the yin and the
- 8:17yang.
- 8:18Sometimes it slows us down a little bit,
- 8:19but I think that's a good thing that
- 8:21it slows us down.
- 8:23It's a very good thing to keep our
- 8:25emotions balanced.
- 8:27Grounded people make better long-term decisions.
- 8:32Did you know that?
- 8:34So I know you're going to ask me,
- 8:35John, what is a grounded person?
- 8:39And you know, that's a great question.
- 8:42Someone who's emotionally stable, self-aware, and sensible.
- 8:46They remain calm during chaos, they make practical
- 8:49decisions, and they stay true to their values
- 8:51without being easily swayed by outside opinions or
- 8:55even drama.
- 8:57Yeah.
- 8:58The question is, why do people, this is
- 9:01my big question, why do people want drama?
- 9:06Why do they want drama?
- 9:09People thrive on drama because conflict triggers the
- 9:11nervous system to release adrenaline and endorphins.
- 9:15Making chaos feel exciting rather than stressful.
- 9:18Often they use drama as an emotional coping
- 9:20mechanism to distract themselves from deeper personal issues
- 9:23or to feel significant and engaged in the
- 9:26world.
- 9:26But when you actually have that positive moment,
- 9:30guess what happens, guys?
- 9:32You get the same feeling, if not better.
- 9:36And that might sound confusing, but it's actually
- 9:41the truth.
- 9:42It's the truth.
- 9:43Number 13, stability is built from belief systems.
- 9:49You see, your daily belief that you have
- 9:54shapes your daily actions.
- 9:56Healthy beliefs create a stable foundation for lasting
- 9:59growth.
- 10:04When we plan and we do something from
- 10:06a plan, it usually comes up a lot
- 10:09better than if we just try to do
- 10:10it like, you know, reactively.
- 10:14I think that's an important thing.
- 10:19So we want to be reactive or proactive.
- 10:23We want to be proactive.
- 10:25Proactive uses less energy and can actually give
- 10:28us better results and can actually replenish the
- 10:31energy in our body by not always being
- 10:34in that flight or fight mode.
- 10:38Number 14, guys, trust strengthens consistency.
- 10:42Consistency becomes easier when you believe your effort.
- 10:47I think that's important.
- 10:50And you have to know that it has
- 10:51purpose.
- 10:52And when it has purpose, trust encourages you
- 10:55to continue even before results appear.
- 11:02Even before the results show up, you believe
- 11:04in yourself.
- 11:05You believe in what you're doing.
- 11:08That's a very, very important thing, guys.
- 11:11Very important thing.
- 11:13Trust in the process.
- 11:17Even when the sky is falling, trust in
- 11:20the process.
- 11:23Number 15, guys.
- 11:27Number 15 is anchoring improves focus.
- 11:32Anchoring improves focus.
- 11:35Yes, anchoring improves focus.
- 11:38Distractions, well, they lose their power when your
- 11:44purpose becomes clear.
- 11:46Trust has a way of keeping your attention
- 11:49on what matters most to us, which incidentally,
- 11:53guys, is ran because of our core values
- 11:58that we've chosen to undertake.
- 12:03Our core values are what gets us to
- 12:07do or not do anything.
- 12:08What we believe in, our worth.
- 12:13Number 16, guys.
- 12:15Calm thinking comes from trust.
- 12:21A peaceful mind recognizes opportunities that panic often
- 12:28overlooks.
- 12:32It overlooks them.
- 12:34Because it's so busy trying to put the
- 12:37fire out, trying to be reactive.
- 12:46But when we're proactive, we're relaxed, we're grounded,
- 12:53we're sensible.
- 12:56We're able to handle things that pop up,
- 12:59but when we're proactive, if we're reactive, we're
- 13:03using two or three times the amount of
- 13:04energy.
- 13:05And then it's like, uh, I don't have
- 13:09any more energy.
- 13:11Calmness improves our own judgment, right?
- 13:17It actually improves how we approach our perceptions,
- 13:25which if it handles that, it's going to
- 13:28naturally handle our judgment.
- 13:30Number 17, guys.
- 13:31Stability is maintained through mindset.
- 13:36Through mindset.
- 13:38Your mindset influences how you interpret every challenge.
- 13:44Strong thinking creates lasting stability.
- 13:49Lasting stability.
- 13:51Trust reduces reaction-based thinking.
- 13:55Number 18, when we can trust and know
- 13:59things will work out, we don't tend to
- 14:02be so reactive.
- 14:05Quick emotional reactions often create unnecessary problems for
- 14:09us because maybe we chose the wrong decision,
- 14:13right?
- 14:15Trust encourages thoughtful responses.
- 14:17Instead, it gets us to take a minute
- 14:21to ponder and realize, hey, is this the
- 14:24right decision for not just now, but is
- 14:27this the right decision for everything we're doing?
- 14:40I think that's an important thing to know,
- 14:45that we have these choices.
- 14:50But when we're forced to make a decision,
- 14:53it becomes to us like we don't want
- 14:58to make a decision because we're so stressed
- 15:03either way.
- 15:05When we're grounded and we make a wrong
- 15:07decision, we can recover from that a lot
- 15:11quicker than if we were not grounded and
- 15:13if we were not so reactive.
- 15:17Sometimes we have to be reactive like an
- 15:19emergency, but we still can be a little
- 15:22less reactive if we've planned for something, prepared
- 15:25for it.
- 15:27Number 19, anchoring prevents emotional drift.
- 15:31Without an anchor, it's easy to lose direction,
- 15:34right?
- 15:34The boat will just kind of keep swaying
- 15:36all over the bay or the ocean.
- 15:37See, trust, like that anchor, keeps your values
- 15:42and purpose steady, tied down, but in a
- 15:46good way.
- 15:48Number 20, confidence grows in uncertain times.
- 15:52Confidence isn't developed when life is easy.
- 15:57No, guys, it grows every time you continue,
- 15:59despite uncertainty, uncertainty, uncertainty.
- 16:09Uncertainty is not something to be afraid of,
- 16:12it's something to embrace.
- 16:14I think the more that we can learn
- 16:16to embrace this, the more that we can
- 16:19stay calm, the more that we say, OK,
- 16:20it didn't work out the way I wanted,
- 16:23but it's going to be better next time.
- 16:28It's going to be better next time.
- 16:31I think that's an important piece for us
- 16:32all to understand, that it is going to
- 16:36be better next time.
- 16:37I can tell you that, because we're going
- 16:39to be better next time.
- 16:40Number 21, trust creates mental structure.
- 16:43I see you need two things for success,
- 16:45inconsistency, and you need structure.
- 16:48Organized thinking reduces confusion.
- 16:51Trust provides a framework for making better decisions.
- 16:58So trust helps us stay more proactive, less
- 17:03reactive.
- 17:03We use less energy, and by that, we
- 17:10are less stressed.
- 17:12We're more in the flow of things.
- 17:16Number 22, stability improves performance.
- 17:19When your emotions are steady, your performance becomes
- 17:23more consistent.
- 17:27Stability supports excellence.
- 17:33That's what we're shooting for.
- 17:35Number 23, anchoring builds and cultivates discipline.
- 17:44Discipline becomes easier when your foundation is secure.
- 17:50Not before.
- 17:52Trust helps you keep your commitments, again, because
- 17:57we are clear.
- 17:59We're in the know.
- 18:01We're not in a reactive mindset.
- 18:03We're in a proactive mindset.
- 18:05What is the difference?
- 18:08Proactive is somebody who has thought about the
- 18:10potential possibilities and what we need to do
- 18:13to plan so that if that does happen,
- 18:15we can mitigate it as quickly as possible.
- 18:19Number 24, trust removes chaos from thinking.
- 18:27Fear creates mental clutter.
- 18:30Trust clears away unnecessary noise so wisdom can
- 18:35lead and shine.
- 18:38But most people, they don't ever let their
- 18:41wisdom shine because they're constantly stepping on it,
- 18:45saying, hey, this doesn't work.
- 18:49But they haven't really even given it a
- 18:51choice.
- 18:53Number 25, guys, emotional control comes from being
- 19:00grounded.
- 19:02Grounded people aren't free from emotion.
- 19:07No, we're not taking away their emotion.
- 19:10They simply choose not to let emotion control
- 19:14them, to exploit them.
- 19:19So we have a choice in life.
- 19:22Do we let something control us or do
- 19:25we become someone who's in the flow, who
- 19:34knows things are going to work out for
- 19:36us?
- 19:36They just know.
- 19:37Number 26, stability is reinforced daily.
- 19:40Every positive choice you make strengthens your foundation.
- 19:47You see, ladies and gentlemen, stability is built
- 19:49through consistent daily habits.
- 19:55I didn't say doing the habit once and
- 19:56going away.
- 19:57I'd say consistent daily habits.
- 20:01People are not consistent in life.
- 20:03I'll tell you why.
- 20:05It's because people are, again, looking for the
- 20:13quick thing.
- 20:14They're looking for something quick.
- 20:19And we have to go with the flow
- 20:29slowly.
- 20:30We can't rush the flow, guys.
- 20:33No, we can't do that.
- 20:37When we learn how to let go, we
- 20:42then can become in flow.
- 20:45When we learn how to let go, we
- 20:48can then become in flow.
- 20:50When we learn how to let go, then
- 20:52we can become in flow.
- 20:58It's what I call the flow life state.
- 21:01But it doesn't just happen.
- 21:04It takes a little work, takes some patience,
- 21:08takes consistency, and definitely takes a structure.
- 21:12Number 27, trust strengthens persistence.
- 21:16Trust reminds us that meaningful progress takes time.
- 21:22Persistence grows stronger when belief remains steady.
- 21:29Remains steady.
- 21:33Anchoring supports long-term vision.
- 21:36Number 28, short-term distractions lose influence when
- 21:42you stay connected to your larger purpose.
- 21:46When you don't just see the trees in
- 21:49the forest, you see the entire forest.
- 21:53What am I saying?
- 21:54Vision keeps you moving forward.
- 21:59Vision gets us to have those mini epiphanies,
- 22:02those moments we want to celebrate.
- 22:08And that gets us to take our own
- 22:11inspired actions.
- 22:13Number 29, guys, beliefs become emotional stability.
- 22:19What you repeatedly believe eventually shapes how you
- 22:23respond to life.
- 22:27May not happen tomorrow, but it will happen
- 22:30in time.
- 22:31Healthy beliefs produce lasting emotional strength.
- 22:39It takes time.
- 22:44The more you repeat, the more your confidence
- 22:47grows.
- 22:49The more your confidence grows, the more your
- 22:53attitude changes.
- 22:57Number 30, guys, trust is what keeps us
- 23:06steady when everything shifts.
- 23:12And things are going to shift.
- 23:13I got to be honest about that.
- 23:15Circumstances will always change.
- 23:19But trust provides a constant foundation.
- 23:25When your trust is strong, you remain steady,
- 23:29regardless of the storm, regardless of the storm.
- 23:35Storm doesn't mean go home.
- 23:37The storm means we've learned something from that.
- 23:41We probably don't want to do that the
- 23:43same way again.
- 23:44We want to learn from it, because doing
- 23:50the same thing over and over again is
- 23:52going to get us the same results.
- 23:55We said before, Einstein said doing the same
- 23:58thing over and over again is insanity.
- 23:59We're not insane, so we don't want to
- 24:00do that.
- 24:02Ladies and gentlemen, in closing today, as I
- 24:05close out not only the show, but also
- 24:07the amazing master topic of this week, and
- 24:14as I'm proud to include this week's series,
- 24:17I want you to remember, this is key,
- 24:21guys, that trust is more than confidence.
- 24:27Trust is more than confidence.
- 24:32Trust is more than confidence.
- 24:36It is the foundation that supports every decision.
- 24:43It is the foundation that supports every decision.
- 24:48It is the foundation that supports every decision,
- 24:55every challenge, and every opportunity you'll encounter, every
- 24:59challenge, and every opportunity you'll encounter.
- 25:03I'm not going to tell you that's going
- 25:05to be easy, especially not the first time.
- 25:08Now, ladies and gentlemen, life will continue changing.
- 25:13That's inevitable.
- 25:17But your anchor can still remain secure.
- 25:26An anchor's a way of bringing you back
- 25:28home to that thought pattern of where you
- 25:32feel good, where you believe in yourself.
- 25:37Anchors can help us stay disciplined because we've
- 25:40said the motivation disappears depending on our mood,
- 25:47but discipline stays through all seasons.
- 25:52Discipline stays through all seasons, not just when
- 25:55the weather is nice outside, right?
- 25:57And by seasons, ladies and gentlemen, I'm not
- 25:59talking about winter, spring, summer, fall.
- 26:00I'm talking about the seasons in your life,
- 26:05the seasons some people don't want to talk
- 26:07about.
- 26:08Everybody wants to talk about the sunny days
- 26:10and the great times, but not everybody wants
- 26:11to talk about the challenging times, those challenging
- 26:14seasons that some people have.
