- 0:16[SPEAKER_02]: Hey everybody, welcome to 48th episode.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_02]: 49.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_02]: 49.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_01]: Did you use the spreadsheet you would know?
- 0:24[SPEAKER_02]: I did look at the spreadsheet.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_02]: You clearly didn't.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_02]: Because you didn't know it was episode 49.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_02]: 49.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_02]: I knew that.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_02]: I was just messing with you, didn't you?
- 0:31[SPEAKER_01]: You right, I didn't.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_01]: You don't look at the spreadsheet.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_02]: I do look at the spreadsheet all the time.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_02]: What do you say there?
- 0:38[SPEAKER_01]: Oh shit.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_01]: Oh shit.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's a little dusty in the studio.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, here we are.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_02]: This is Annavar from the right network.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_01]: From the right, yeah.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_02]: From the cheesy popcorn.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_02]: And with my co-host Chris Miles here, Chris Good.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_01]: Hi.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks for introducing me.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_01]: I appreciate that.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't have to say my name.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_01]: Because everybody knows who I am.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_02]: Well, that's what's wrong with that.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's nice to be introduced.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_02]: It is.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_02]: That's, I said, thank you.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_02]: There's only a few times in your life that you get introduced.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I know.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_02]: You know, one, your lane in a box.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_02]: This is better.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_01]: Well, really with the week we've had, you had to go there.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you're killing me, small.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you're right, you're right.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_02]: All right, so this week, do you want to go on take over the previews?
- 1:19[SPEAKER_01]: I do that every week.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_01]: So how am I going to go ahead and take it over when it's something I do every week anyways?
- 1:26[SPEAKER_01]: take it over talk about what today shows are going to be all about first let's talk about the title of the show of course is adventure tv show so we're going to talk about our favorite adventure tv shows correct that's later on in the broadcasts they like to say uh and then of course we'll talk about the two well the movie and the tv show that we're going to review you went and saw mutiny
- 1:46[SPEAKER_01]: Which to me, which to me is probably no better than any other Steven Sagalmovie that shared the same kind of reference, so to speak.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_01]: And then I'm going to review lanterns, which, although it's only in two episodes, I've got enough of a feel for it that I can, I feel like I can make a prediction here.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll go from that lanterns, lanterns, it's new on HBO Max, it's a DC title, shall we say?
- 2:13[SPEAKER_01]: that the green lantern yeah the green exactly lanterns because there's more than one green lantern so there you go are there different colored lanterns are there all green we'll get into that when I talk about lanterns and you were in a green shirt today and people can see them but you are appropriately well if they check out my other podcast which called new i'm used to grow those see me in the same green shirt but then new i'm used to grow that's right which is Friday yeah every Friday yeah and then of course special
- 2:42[SPEAKER_02]: and this show as well because Dali Parton made a bunch of movies and we have lost an icon.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_02]: We've lost a wonderful human being.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_02]: She was the epitome of what a human being should be.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_02]: You're successful from nothing and you get back and when you get you should give and I don't know that anybody gave more than Dali Parton.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_01]: Not at all.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_02]: I was in pigeon forged by the way by Dali Wood.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I thought she was from pigeon for it But she's from locust rich.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_01]: No, she's from Syriville or something like that.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_02]: What near Syriville?
- 3:13[SPEAKER_02]: Sure.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_01]: Locust rich is a little bit a little bit a little bit But Syriville is the is the is the community that that Right
- 3:22[SPEAKER_01]: Holds on to where she's from so to speak and there's really cool when they did that Lee wouldn't in pigeon for well you had to put it someplace where you know it was going to be kind of Great scenery and all kinds of other stuff.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_01]: I mean it's right there by the rockers.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_01]: So and then of course So we're going to start off the episode by talking about movies that are coming out this week and I just you know on record and say that I don't know what I'm going to do
- 3:44[SPEAKER_01]: because there's only one moving here that's even remotely appealing to me.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't know if it's going to be that good.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll talk about it as we get into the show.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_01]: So let's talk about the movies that are coming out this week.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_01]: Of course, we're also looking at movies that are going to come out on Netflix too.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_01]: So there is that.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_01]: And of course, feel free to try, man, you don't have to get away from the microphone and get on your phone and play whatever game you're going to play.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_02]: No, I'm not just looking at some levels.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, okay.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you're being the sound producer that you should have been on the other side.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, okay, okay, all right.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_01]: So, first we got a movie called The Dog Stars.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_01]: It's said in Colorado, it's after the world's population, of course, was in ravaged by a pandemic where it is, where does this sound like this is going?
- 4:24[SPEAKER_01]: And a man lives in a lonesome existence in an airplane hanger with his dog and a door gunman that he is befriended.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_01]: And then, of course, a mysterious transition comes through on the, or transmission rather comes through on the radar or radio while he's flying his old sessna.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, well, I guess Riley Scott is in it, so maybe that's going to be someone really Scott, really Scott directed it.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's in it too, is he in it too, because he's the director, he's kind of old.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he's like, it looks, well, he might do a cameo, maybe, but Josh Browlson can he's in it, Josh Browlson's in it, Josh Browlson's in it, I don't know, guy pierces in it as well too.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they were in all the I'm the talk shows this morning.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_02]: That's how I caught it.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so not interested You don't do talk shows, huh?
- 5:10[SPEAKER_02]: You don't do morning talk shows.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_02]: Who me?
- 5:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I can't because I'm my work.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_01]: Oh That's right.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_01]: There's some of us who actually have to go to work.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_02]: Still you some of us work 38 years and then I know you're retired you're retired tired.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so there you go and you're entitled to it So enjoy the talk show.
- 5:25[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you get a free talk show.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_01]: You get a free talk show
- 5:29[SPEAKER_01]: All right, up next, I skipped one because I really, there's a movie out there called Finding Emily and I don't know if it's going to be anything but if you want to go see it, it's out there.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_01]: It's basically about a lovesick musician who's given the wrong number for his dream girl and he teams up with a driven psychology student to find her.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_01]: It's a sound.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_01]: White theme isn't it Timothy James isn't it Alicia McDonald it I don't know it didn't seem interesting to me So we're gonna want the next one which of course is called buddy Where are they coming up with these titles?
- 6:14[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know oh
- 6:21[SPEAKER_01]: Bunny's not coming out next week.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_01]: So forget that, pull it off the list.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know why it was on my list, but it shouldn't have been.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_01]: It's already out.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_01]: So forget it.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_01]: And then, Coyote versus Acme, which is about the only movie this week that I was even remotely interested in, because it looks like it takes on the story of our favorite Coyote.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_01]: And the group of people that he always loves to go after against because he always gets his stuff from Acme, right?
- 6:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_01]: So, of course, after decades of being blown to bits by bombs demolished by dynamite, mangled by magnets, battered by boulders, trampled by trains, tricked by tunnels, sprung by spring, steamrolled by steamrollers, you get the point where we're going with this
- 7:10[SPEAKER_01]: uh... he terms teams up with a billboard accident lawyer uh... played of course by will forte uh... and he takes on a slip corporate council uh... played by john cina uh... and then act me of course to to kind of go against them as well it looked like it was kind of interesting and fun like i said john cina's in it uh... joss silverman or silver benizana is in it uh... james gone as well james guns the director
- 7:36[SPEAKER_01]: Nice.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_01]: Chris McCay and then Dave Green.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_01]: It looks like it could be fun or funny at least.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_01]: Of course it is an animated movie as well, too.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_01]: So maybe it's one for the kiddos, too.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_02]: But I think it's kind of violent for little kids.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_02]: Well, maybe made a roadowner cartoons were kind of violent.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_01]: I watched them when I was like, I'm sure you did.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_02]: I can see that when you say things like,
- 8:05[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, okay, here we go.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_01]: It's starting already.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_01]: All right, and what are we going to say?
- 8:13[SPEAKER_01]: It's good to know.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_01]: Well, all done, there's some more exclusive to Netflix, as a movie called The Whisper Man, which has got your buddy Robert De Niro in it.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_01]: Joe Russo, Anthony Russo, and then Michelle Mahanahe, is how you say it?
- 8:26[SPEAKER_02]: The Niro's a cop, right?
- 8:27[SPEAKER_02]: And there's somebody who was chasing a long time ago that he retired from police detective.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_02]: And now that's they don't know if it's a copycatter to guys back.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I like the neuro movies.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_02]: He's plays a good copy, plays a good gangster.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_02]: He's a man of many traits.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_01]: And then last but not least, the secret woman coming out on Netflix as well.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_01]: There's a secret woman.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_01]: It starts Claire Banks, Barbara Tupose, Rothberg, Claire Banks.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_01]: Clay's Bang, sorry, C-O-E-S.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_01]: It's about a woman with memory loss, and then she discovers a family and a shipping empire.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_01]: And she returns to a similarly perfect past on cover that you had about why she left.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_01]: Why is it, is it, why are none of these movies ever, like, not that sound interesting at all?
- 9:18[SPEAKER_02]: Actually, the one that kind of peaked me was the narrow one.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_02]: Really, that's pretty it.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's not Netflix.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, then I can watch that at 11 o'clock and night when doors goes to bed.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_02]: There you go.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_02]: So you can review the whisper man.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, through the whisper man.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_02]: I get my popcorn and my glass of chocolate milk.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_01]: Oh.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_02]: And I watch it.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_02]: Soon.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_02]: Soon.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_02]: Soon.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_01]: I think I might go that the same route as well, too, and we both can talk about the whisper man.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_02]: Because I don't want to go see mutiny.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_01]: We're not even going to go there.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to call Jason and tell him that you don't like call him all you want to and you can tell him Be sure enough Anyway, so yeah, that's it.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_01]: I mean acne coyote versus acne looks like it might be interesting, but I don't know.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I don't know
- 10:11[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_01]: It's one of those, shot in the dark, pan kind of things.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_01]: But that's what's coming out this week, folks.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_01]: So if you want to see any of that stuff, you got there and we go from there.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_01]: So you saw a mutiny.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_01]: I saw a mutiny.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_01]: What'd you think of it?
- 10:26[SPEAKER_02]: I liked it.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_02]: Under siege?
- 10:28[SPEAKER_02]: No, it's a little different than under siege, but it's pretty close.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_02]: But it has some different parts in it.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_02]: It's, you know, my wife is a Jason Strand fan.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_02]: She was one that got me hooked on Transporter.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_02]: originally she saw she goes oh you got to see this movie it's really good she's not so much of a of an action that kind of action movie anymore so she wouldn't have come to see and I'm glad she didn't because there were some pretty violent kills in this movie and that's you know as much as I like I like these kind of movies I'm getting really tired of them pushing
- 11:09[SPEAKER_02]: You know, there has to be a point where somebody says, you know what's enough for this already.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_02]: Let's stop blowing people's heads off.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, okay, okay, you have the visual effects.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_02]: I get it.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_02]: You could do so much with CG.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_02]: I get it.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_02]: But you know, the better, if you look back over time, the better movies are the ones that don't have all of that graphic, graphic, graphic violence, and just have a great story that you got to kind of follow along and you think it's going in one direction and then it doesn't go in that direction and then the ending kind of gets you.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, Jason's not that kind of acting not going to be in a movie like that.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_02]: Claude Van Dam was in a movie like that because I'd know where to run where it was, you know, they got away from all the violent fighting and he still had a few fights but it was much more, you know, really the know-how was going to end at the beginning.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_02]: Kind of a little bit past the middle you kind of knew and that was nice to see and I'm really getting, I'm kind of over the
- 12:05[SPEAKER_02]: let's you know blow a body up completely kind of a movie anymore.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_02]: So I think this was an entertaining movie if you like Jason and I don't know who doesn't like Jason.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_02]: It typical Jason obviously there was some interesting human trafficking elements in the movie that you know it's a kind of a good guy versus bad guy's movie.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_02]: And so I like, you know, I like that he's usually in those kind of good by a good guy versus bad guy movies anyway, but, you know, acting is, you know, it's Jason and the rest of the people, the bad guys, you know, one guy against 22 guys and they all have automatic weapons and he's got a, uh, a knife and he kills them all.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_02]: It's pretty believable, I think.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_02]: It's out on the high seas, it's on a cargo ship, which is a little different than everything else he's done.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_02]: I would probably give this movie like a seven.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_02]: I won't see it again.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_02]: If it started streaming, I wouldn't see it again.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_02]: It's not the kind of movie that I would see again.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_02]: He's got other action movies that I would see again, that I think have more plot and more dialogue and less violence.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_02]: This was really, again,
- 13:23[SPEAKER_02]: Just because you have the CG, you shouldn't just use it, I think, I think we got a pullback, I really do.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_02]: Especially these PG-13 movies.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_02]: They were you got a pullback on a lot of this.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not saying, you know, the good guy kills all the bad guys.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_02]: I'm saying the good guy kills all the bad guys.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, it takes out an eye at the same time.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_02]: It's just too much for me.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_02]: That's my review.
- 13:50[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_01]: Wow, okay, interesting, I still don't want to say it.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_01]: So it doesn't change my view of it all.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_01]: It's still sound like I don't think you would.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_02]: And I like, I said, I won't see it again.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_02]: I've seen a couple of Jason movies, at least two times, working man, beekeeper.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_02]: And there's some gratuitous violence in there, but this room was kind of over the top, I thought.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_02]: So I think filmmakers need to stop
- 14:22[SPEAKER_02]: trying to push the envelope further and further and further and try to come up with original ideas of movies that are more like the old fashion, you know, 40s and 50s genre where you didn't know who was going to be at the end until the end.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_02]: And if there was a violent killing or something, they let you know was coming, but didn't necessarily show it to you.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_02]: That is graphic anyway.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_01]: Well, there you go.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_01]: And then, of course, my review is on a show, which only has two episodes so far.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_01]: It premiered a couple of Sundays ago.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_01]: It's called lanterns.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_01]: It's on HBO Max exclusively.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_01]: It is a DC property, which talks about, well, the story unfolds about Hell Jordan and John Stewart, who, if you are familiar with the Green Lanterns at all, are actually two of the Green Lanterns who have been on earth.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_01]: uh... there's a little bit of a play here because technically if you're into the cannon and all the stuff about green lanterns there's only supposed to be one lantern at a time that's supposed to have a specific ring uh... and the the the the
- 15:31[SPEAKER_01]: history that I know of, Hal Jordan pass his ring on to John Stewart, but this show takes a different twist on things.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_01]: So it's kind of interesting.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_01]: Now here's the premise, of course, basically Hal Jordan and his new recruit are investigating a dark murder in an American heartland.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_01]: Hell Jordan is played by a Kyle Chandler and the new recruit John Stewart is played by Aaron Pierre They have an amazing chemistry together.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_01]: I can't wait to see how it unfolds.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_01]: There's gonna be eight episodes I think if I have my numbers right nine episodes sorry, but I can't wait to see how this whole thing unfolds
- 16:12[SPEAKER_01]: From episode two already, now that I've seen the second episode, the first episode, I will be totally honest with you, it was kind of like, what really what's going on.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_01]: But now that I've watched the second episode, I'm like, all right, I see where this is going.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of interesting.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_01]: It's a completely different take on this whole.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_01]: Superhero genre.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_01]: Let's put it that way.
- 16:35[SPEAKER_01]: The narrative jumps across two different areas from 2016 to 2026.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of a slow burn mystery here.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_01]: Kind of an old school like cop, murder, mystery kind of thing.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_01]: But now they're going to be the villain side of this has been officially released as of episode two.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_01]: I won't share it with you because I don't want to spoiler alert anything.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_01]: There are alien threats around.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_01]: We'll just call it that.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_01]: The showowner Chris Muddy, of course, basically said he's approaching this property less like a standard superhero slug fest and more like a true moody, true detective style story.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_01]: So it's kind of cool.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_01]: It's interesting because if you ever watch Miami Vice, you know that the two leads there one was white and the other one was African-American.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_01]: That's kind of the same thing that's going on here.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_01]: And there's a little Don Johnson-esque thing going on on the other one.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_01]: with Kyle Chandler and I can't remember, what was the other character's name in Miami Vice?
- 17:35[SPEAKER_01]: I can't remember was it, was it, oh, tubs, crockin' in tubs, rockin' in tubs, and so the on-downs of the crockin' John Jackson was crockin' but who played tubs?
- 17:45[SPEAKER_01]: I can't remember his name.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_01]: The other guy, the other guy.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, thanks.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_02]: The other guy played tubs.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, he, of course, was African-Americans.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_01]: Well, too, these two kind of have that same thing going on in a roundabout sort of way.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_01]: It's not like, oh, it's Miami-Vice, but with green lanterns.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_01]: That's not what I'm saying here.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_01]: But there's like this whole cop detective thing going on in it as well.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_01]: And like I said, Chair, Chandler and Pierre work so well together that it kind of balances out like howl's chaotic methods with John's more deliberate approach as well, too.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_02]: It's got to Tom is played, Tom's.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, thank you, Philip, my God, Tom is appreciate that.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_02]: We don't want to get yelled at.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_01]: It right exactly by, you know, who know who be bear.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, yeah, he is a bear.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, I actually met him.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I had a basically met him.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_01]: Nice.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_01]: a big dude like that didn't play football.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_02]: No, he didn't.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, he looks like he played basketball.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_01]: He played basketball.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, wow.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he looks like he got to play football.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_02]: He could have.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_02]: He could have played football.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_02]: He didn't.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, shot off the desk and be bare auto repair.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_02]: his nickname in high school was brown bear everybody called around because he was at least and that's why he did the beaver ought to repair see get it you want to do brown he did the be uh he didn't want to be labeled the brown bear kind of I see how it goes so the shrizzly oh well
- 19:08[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, we're really down along too.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_01]: Back to lanterns.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_01]: The show of course has gotten a lot of praise.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_01]: Some people have said it's got some sharp dialogues, some high production value.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_01]: The interesting thing though, so far in the first two episodes, there have been like very few uses of the Green Lanterns powers.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_01]: Which to me is kind of like, wow, okay, what are we going to do here?
- 19:30[SPEAKER_01]: So,
- 19:31[SPEAKER_01]: It's an interesting shift away from what you've known come to know and expect and love in different TV shows that feature Adventure Heroes and things of that answer, but it's really good.
- 19:45[SPEAKER_01]: Calamac Donald plays Sheriff Kelly Kane and that name might sound familiar to you.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_01]: If you are into
- 19:54[SPEAKER_01]: TV shows shall we say she was in movie-wise she was in no country for old men she was in transporting and what was the other one that somebody told me she was in and I was like really she was in that yeah I don't have it in front of me but she's been in a bunch of different things black mirror that's what somebody was talking about she was in black mirror so and then also Jason Ritter is in the show
- 20:20[SPEAKER_01]: which is really cool to see because you like if you if you watch the show you can't help but notice John Ritter like Jason looks just like his dad and he sounds just like his dad back then and it's so cool to see and it's just it's so interesting so you know I don't have it to be on max you just teasing me I'm sorry you tease me all the time so get used to it big boy anyway
- 20:43[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, so well, it's I'm gonna go on I'm gonna say right now it's a seven I might change 7.5 I might change my review a little bit later as we get more into things.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_01]: It's only two episodes in But so far I'm really interested.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_01]: I can't wait for next Sunday new episodes come out Sundays for the next what so two episodes already nine nine minus two quick math so the next seven weeks Well, I've seen new episodes as well.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_01]: They might take a break maybe for a new Labor Day I'm not sure
- 21:09[SPEAKER_01]: but I don't know the complete release schedule.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_01]: Shame on me.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_01]: I know I'm sorry, Armand.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_02]: Shame on you.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, it's a great show.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_01]: So give it a watch if it's something that you're into.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_01]: You might even enjoy even if you're not to.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_02]: What?
- 21:21[SPEAKER_02]: Mordi Payne for Netflix.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I'm sorry.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to pay for HBO Man's too.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_01]: Sure, you can find another, you know, senior at discount thing for that one as well too.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_01]: Probably.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_01]: You should do your homework.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_01]: I should.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_01]: All right, so let's move on to favorite adventure TV shows of all time, what you got for us there, big man.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_02]: Always with three like three you know when you do stand up everything's in three You always have a set up punch line punch line punch line punch line That was a Johnny Carson rule of thumb you want to do things in three and then what happens when they pull the hook Then you go work as a bartender.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_02]: Jenny's
- 22:01[SPEAKER_02]: a bartender at denies where there are denies with a bar there is a denies with a bar where it's in Vegas that doesn't come up there might be one in Vegas too but they have slot machines in the one in Vegas I bet you all right adventure shows there's a Taco Bell with a there's Taco there's alcoholic drinks in the Taco Bell in Las Vegas by the way there there were
- 22:21[SPEAKER_02]: at McDonald's restaurant in Oakbrook next to the corporate office where I worked.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, that McDonald's and only that McDonald's served wine and beer.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_02]: Well, only that one.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_02]: It was in the same building.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_01]: Didn't the 50's McDonald's do it for a little bit and then they pulled it?
- 22:37[SPEAKER_01]: Do you mean the one downtown?
- 22:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 22:39[SPEAKER_02]: The the rumor is on Clark.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the rumor is that that guy was selling more than Of course, well my loss is French.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_02]: I could have told you that it's a corporate store now has been for a while I know and that's when they got rid of all the memorabilia and everything and I was like really Yeah, the joke a corporate was instead of you know when you go to the drive through and you order something and you get to the You finish your order and what did they always say?
- 23:05[SPEAKER_02]: Would you like an apple pie with that?
- 23:07[SPEAKER_02]: It would there as can something else.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_02]: So anyway adventure shows I'm going to go back to Dr. Who.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, wow.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_02]: The original.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_02]: The original with Tom Baker from the 1960s.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_01]: That's not the original.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_02]: Well, he's not the first one, but he's the one I like.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_02]: He's my original.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_01]: He was number four.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, he was Dr.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_01]: Number four.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_02]: Was he really, because I looked at him, I thought it was three other times, I liked it.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_02]: I liked the transport was the police booth, was really cool.
- 23:37[SPEAKER_02]: And actually, the booth itself, did you know what it was called?
- 23:43[SPEAKER_01]: A TARDIS TARDIS TARDS, TARDS, but it's called TARDIS, for sure.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_02]: I'm in relative dimension and space.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_02]: It's TARDIS, that's how you said.
- 23:51[SPEAKER_02]: It's TARDS, TARDS, there's no E.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_01]: No, it's an I, T, A, R, D, I, S, uh, you don't ever do the little words.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_02]: So that's not an expert.
- 23:59[SPEAKER_01]: I mean the little letters you mean?
- 24:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, yeah.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_02]: You don't do that anyway.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, second, uh, I'm saying in the same realm with quantum leap.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_01]: No, that was a big jump.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yep, Scott, baccala, baccala.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_02]: Dean, stack well, was great in it.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_02]: Just, you know, it was just a fun show.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_02]: It didn't take itself so seriously, I thought.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_02]: You know, Scott was a really good lead there, I thought.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_02]: And Dean Stockwell was a good foil for it, I thought.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_02]: So it was, you know, it kind of fell between sci-fi, adventure, and comedy.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_02]: In my opinion, which do I like that now I got a third one, but I want you to do yours first.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
- 24:52[SPEAKER_01]: No, it doesn't matter if I have it on there or not, no, you know, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
- 25:17[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_01]: I am.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_02]: I was the MC.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_02]: We do.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_02]: We do this.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_01]: I get this way.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_01]: All the time.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_01]: You can't now all the stuff.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_01]: I don't need to top it.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, you do.
- 25:28[SPEAKER_01]: No, it's because it's your pick.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_01]: I fall into place with your stuff really.
- 25:32[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to be like this.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to get comments on this.
- 25:34[SPEAKER_02]: Wow.
- 25:35[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so go ahead.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_02]: No, finish it.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, no.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, then we're going to silence.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_01]: I can't believe you're gonna do this and be a baby about it the whole way through.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_02]: If I'm gonna do you have it, huh?
- 25:52[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna do you have more than you.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_01]: So that's why I want you to go as you get more than three.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, I have way more than three.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_02]: Did just do three and then I'll do mine and then you can finish up.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_02]: How's that?
- 26:01[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_01]: Just two years and finish it out.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_01]: So we can go with the order of the way we do things.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_01]: Instead of changing things.
- 26:08[SPEAKER_02]: All right.
- 26:08[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 26:08[SPEAKER_02]: Fine.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_02]: Fine.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_02]: I'm gonna get it into a crisp again.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_02]: I know it doesn't sound like an adventure show, but it was, it wasn't an adventure show, how did it happen?
- 26:22[SPEAKER_02]: Every episode, not sound like it wasn't an adventure show, it was a comedy show, it was a sitcom, it was a sitcom, but it wasn't an adventure show like quantum leap or Dr. Hoover and he those.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_02]: But there was tons of adventures.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_02]: I mean the the the Harlem Globetrotters were even on the show Which in and of itself is has a question itself?
- 26:45[SPEAKER_01]: How would their Harlem Globetrotters on the show when they were supposed to be stranded on the island?
- 26:50[SPEAKER_01]: That means they were on the ship in the first place.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_01]: This is the whole no no no no no no.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_02]: It consists There's a lot of the pieces we show, but that's why I loved it.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_02]: First of all ginger and marion
- 26:59[SPEAKER_01]: How does a millionaire stay stranded on an island?
- 27:01[SPEAKER_01]: That's why next one.
- 27:02[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, I know that I got the answer to that.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_02]: Here's my my synopsis of Gilligan's island.
- 27:10[SPEAKER_02]: It's an adventure show in my opinion.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_02]: It's a sitcom too.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_02]: I never understood why Gilligan and the skipper slept in the same room when they had ginger and Mary Ann.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_02]: Also, I wonder why.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_02]: It was a crime show.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_01]: He's called the skipper for a reason.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_02]: it was a crime show because my opinion is that the howls were embezzlers, which is the only reason why they would have two suitcases full of money on an island and where they were just taking the three hour cruise.
- 27:41[SPEAKER_02]: Why would they need all that money?
- 27:43[SPEAKER_02]: The other thing is the professor who was brilliant who built a radio that could be run by writing a bicycle which he also built but he couldn't build a raft.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_02]: which made it interesting to me.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, you can't build a raft, but you could build a radio.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_02]: The only sane person there, and the one character that I thought was the best that I had a crush on, for a long time, was Marianne.
- 28:07[SPEAKER_02]: Marianne was just a simple, normal, probably Midwestern girl.
- 28:14[SPEAKER_02]: Ginger for whatever reason had 30,000 gowns with her on a three-hour cruise.
- 28:20[SPEAKER_02]: So the host show is beyond belief, but that's what made it work as an adventure show.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_02]: They were always so close to getting off the island and when they did get off the island, I was expecting the house to get arrested at the port.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_02]: And they didn't.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_02]: And you know that ruined the girl that played ginger.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_02]: Tina, Tina, her first name, Tina, it ruined her career.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_02]: Did you know that?
- 28:51[SPEAKER_02]: She could not get another acting gig after that.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_02]: Tina Louise, she could not get another acting gig.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_02]: Isn't that sad?
- 29:00[SPEAKER_02]: The other one's all went on to do something else.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_01]: No, it wasn't said because back in those days, that's what happened to a lot of them.
- 29:06[SPEAKER_02]: They got so tight cusses.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_02]: What else was good?
- 29:08[SPEAKER_02]: Burt warded.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_02]: word.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_01]: He was another thing.
- 29:13[SPEAKER_01]: The guy that played Robin from Batman.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_01]: What else was he in?
- 29:15[SPEAKER_01]: He was another shows.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_01]: Like what?
- 29:17[SPEAKER_02]: Not like Major Rose.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_02]: That's my point.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_02]: No, he never.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_02]: But he either heard him in Munster.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_02]: Fred Gwynn couldn't get a role to save his life because everybody would see him in Munster.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_02]: Same thing with Ray Walston who played my favorite Martian.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_02]: He was a brilliant, successful Broadway actor when he did that role.
- 29:37[SPEAKER_02]: after the show went off the air he couldn't get another broad way roll his next movie from I'm a stake in was the sting and that took years because people kept you know producers and directors kept saying people were going to see Uncle Martin and wait for the antennas to come up and that's it anyway that's those are my three you go right ahead i will be completely quiet now
- 30:02[SPEAKER_02]: I hope you enjoyed my Gilgames Island as an adventure show a moment there.
- 30:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, all the three people of yours that are listening.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_01]: And well, you know, that's why we have to keep on eye on those things.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_01]: But so here's my list.
- 30:16[SPEAKER_01]: Starting off with a TV show that was directed by a critically acclaimed director.
- 30:21[SPEAKER_01]: And when they gave him this on Sunday nights, everyone was like, wow, this is amazing.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm talking about amazing stories.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_01]: Steven Spielberg directed it, it basically fell in right between murders she wrote in the Disney Sunday movie or actually competing with them, I should say.
- 30:38[SPEAKER_01]: It was 30 minutes long.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_01]: There were ghost stories, alien encounters, and her circle adventures and comedies as well.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_01]: It kind of runs the gambit as far as stuff goes, but I always look forward to it as a kid because I was like, wow, there's a lot of great stories inside of it.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_01]: That's why it was called amazing stories.
- 30:54[SPEAKER_01]: It didn't last very long,
- 30:57[SPEAKER_01]: But it is available.
- 30:59[SPEAKER_01]: It only lasted like two years, but it was so great and so cool And it was just something to do like every single Sunday night.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_01]: So moving on Older TV, Buffet Vampire Slayer is the next one that falls into place there now I know you probably could be like well She can go and like a bunch of different categories, but really honestly the whole point of an adventure TV show is You're going on some sort of you're going on some sort of mission
- 31:24[SPEAKER_01]: where does she go everything happened in her town and everything happened in her time not no no every it happened in other dimensions as well too sometimes it happened down in the pits of hell and all kinds of other stuff so she went all over the place not just how mouth was one of the places as she went to as well too so not just in her not just in the town that you know up and give you that
- 31:42[SPEAKER_01]: Loki is my next one as well.
- 31:45[SPEAKER_01]: So far only two seasons on Disney plus but I love Loki a great show on that a great show Nonetheless of course it's newer so you know there's that but it's on Disney plus great show If you have a check it out as well too
- 31:58[SPEAKER_01]: And then House of the Dragon, another great one as well too, that's only available on HBO Max, so you probably haven't seen it yet.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_01]: And then last but not least, this one's critically acclaimed.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_01]: It's out eight seasons, I think.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_01]: Something like...
- 32:13[SPEAKER_01]: Outer Banks, Mr. McGoose.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_01]: Stop with your Mr. McGoose stuff.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_01]: It was an adventure show too.
- 32:20[SPEAKER_01]: Huh?
- 32:20[SPEAKER_01]: It was an adventure show.
- 32:21[SPEAKER_01]: Mr. McGoose was a car named movie.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_01]: No, the movie with Leslie Nielsen.
- 32:26[SPEAKER_01]: Not the cartoon.
- 32:26[SPEAKER_01]: We're talking about TV shows.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_02]: Can you imagine if that was the word was the voice of Mr. McGoogle.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to be talking about TV shows here.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's just you start in my opinion.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_01]: Mr. Random over here.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_02]: I am Mr. Random.
- 32:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, five seasons.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_01]: I was wrong on Outer Banks.
- 32:43[SPEAKER_01]: Outer Banks is five seasons.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_01]: I knew that.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_01]: But it's so great.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_01]: It's on Netflix.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_01]: It's such a great show.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_02]: I have to check that one out.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_02]: I've been meeting to check it out.
- 32:52[SPEAKER_02]: I see it up there all the times.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_01]: It's not just an adventure show.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, there's some other stuff in there as well too.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_01]: It's got crime, drama, mystery, and romance and all that kind of stuff.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_01]: But it's a great TV show nonetheless.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_01]: And those are my picks for the week.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_01]: As far as adventure TV shows and all the time are concerned, runner up, especially not to arrow in the flash.
- 33:09[SPEAKER_01]: I have to do that because those are some great TV shows as well too, but other than that.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_01]: That's good.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_02]: That's the way the other way.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_01]: We've given people something to think about.
- 33:17[SPEAKER_01]: We have.
- 33:17[SPEAKER_02]: I'd like to get some comments on Gilligan's Island from people, if you could, please.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_01]: Remember to subscribe, share, comment there, and I'll tell you a tale of.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_01]: That's her own ship of a certain ship ship.
- 33:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_01]: What was it called?
- 33:36[SPEAKER_01]: Huh?
