- 0:45SPEAKER_00: If you've ever downloaded a podcast growth checklist, followed every single tip on it, and still watched her download numbers do absolutely nothing, then I need you to hear this.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: That is not a content problem or a consistency problem.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: That is a missing framework problem.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: And today I'm handing you mine.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: I was coaching a client a few weeks ago and she told me something that stopped me in my tracks.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: She said, I have listened to 12 different podcast growth episodes this month, and I still don't know exactly what to do.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: 12 episodes, and these all contain good advice on paper.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: Things like utilizing better hooks, posting more consistently, batching your content, guesting on more podcasts.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: And she tried every single one, one at a time, in whatever order she found them, with zero idea of which one actually mattered for where her show was stuck.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: And here's the thing: that client is not alone.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: And honestly, I did the exact same thing for the first couple years of running my own show.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: I would grab a tactic, try it for a couple weeks, and get frustrated when it didn't move the needle, and then move on to another one.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: I was busy, I was working hard, but I was building nothing because I didn't have a system in place.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: I just had a pile of tips.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: Let's talk about it.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: Welcome to Podcasting for Moms, the show for moms and business ready to start, grow, and scale a podcast that turns your listeners into buyers.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: I'm Jenny Summson, a podcast strategist and fellow mom entrepreneur.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: You're in the right place if you want to learn how to start and grow a podcast that attracts your ideal clients and really does the heavy lifting for you when it comes to selling your offers, all while balancing life as a busy mom.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: Are you ready to create a podcast that grows your income, impact, and influence?
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: Let's make podcasting work for you.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: Because as moms, we know how to get things done.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: All right, let's jump into the episode.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: Hey, hey, and welcome back to Podcasting for Moms, the show that helps mom entrepreneurs turn their podcast into an actual marketing engine instead of a nice-to-have hobby that eats their Tuesday nights.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: I'm Jenny Sennison, and today we're talking about why so much podcast advice leaves you busier but not further ahead, and the framework that I use with every single client to fix it.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: So let's be real about what's actually happening when you consume podcast growth content.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: Most of it is a tactic pulled completely out of context.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: Someone tells you to add a hook to your intro, someone tells you to batch record, someone else tells you that email lists are the real growth lever.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: All three might be true, but none of them tell you which one your show actually needs right now.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: And a tip without a diagnosis is not a strategy.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: It is a guess.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: And guessing is exhausting when you only have a handful of hours each week to give your business.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: So a few years ago, I stopped collecting tips and built something different.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: I mapped out every single stage a podcast has to move through to become a real business asset in order so that you know exactly where to look next.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: I call it the listen method, and it stands for lay the foundation, improve your episodes, simplify your workflow, turn listeners into buyers, expand your reach, and nurture your audience.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: Six stages, one order, no more guessing.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: And we're gonna go deep on each of one of these letters in the coming weeks, but today I want to walk you through all six so you can start placing your own show inside the framework immediately.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: So first up we have L, and the L stands for Lay the Foundation.
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: And this is where we make sure your podcast strategy actually connects to your business instead of just existing next to it.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: Inside this stage, we're clarifying your niche and positioning to finding your actual ideal listener instead of a vague moms who want to start a business, aligning the show with your real offers, refining your show promise, and optimizing your show description and keywords so the right people can even find you in the first place.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: The outcome here is simple.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: Your podcast starts attracting the right audience instead of a pile of random listeners who are never gonna buy from you anyway.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: Then we have I, and the I stands for improve your episodes, and this is where most podcast advice actually does live, which is why people assume it's the entire answer.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: Inside the stage, we're building hooks that actually grab attention, giving episodes real structure instead of being just a big long ramble, using storytelling that keeps people listening, and building episodes that lead somewhere instead of just existing as a content drop.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: The outcome is episodes that keep people listening and coming back instead of one and done downloads.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: Then we have S, which stands for simplify your workflow, because podcast growth requires consistency, and consistency should never require burnout.
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: So inside the stage, we're talking about batching systems, production workflows that don't eat your whole week, content repurposing, so one recording becomes five different assets, automation tools, and knowing exactly what to delegate and what to keep.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: The outcome is a podcast that fits into your actual life, not one more thing that your life has to bend around.
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: Then we have T, which stands for Turn Listeners into Buyers.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: And this is where most podcasters leave the biggest opportunity sitting completely untouched.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: Inside this stage, we're building strategic calls to action instead of a vague checkout, the link in the show notes, lead magnets and listener funnels that actually convert, private podcast funnels, email list growth from your show, and mapping the actual listener journey from episode from first episode to first sale.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: The outcome here is that your podcast stops being a content library and starts being a lead generation tool.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: Then we have E, which stands for expand your reach, and this is a stage people jump to way too early before the first four are even solid.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: Inside this stage, we're talking about podcast guesting strategy, SEO and discoverability, collaboration opportunities, cross promotion with other podcasters, and referral and partnership strategies.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: The outcome here is consistent new listeners discovering your show on top of a foundation that's actually ready to receive them.
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: Then we have the final letter, which is in and in stands for nurture your audience.
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: And this is a stage everyone forgets because growth feels like the finish line when it's not.
- 6:34SPEAKER_00: Inside this stage, we are building email nurture sequences, community, listener engagement strategies, feedback loops, and turning casual listeners into actual super fans.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: The outcome here is an audience that trusts you enough to be excited to work with you, not just excited to hit play.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: So now that you've learned all that, here's what I want you to stop doing immediately.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: I want you to stop grabbing a random tactic off a random episode and trying it without first figuring out which letter you're actually stuck in.
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: If your foundation is shaky and you go straight to guesting on other podcasts, you're just handing brand new listeners a confusing, misaligned show.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: If your content is strong but you never built a call to action, then you can post three times a week forever, and your bank account will not be positively impacted whatsoever.
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: Random tactics applied to the wrong stage don't fail because they're bad advice.
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: They fail because they were never the problem to begin with.
- 7:27SPEAKER_00: So let's bring it all together.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: The listen method is lay the foundation, improve your episodes, simplify your workflow, turn listeners into buyers, expand your reach, and nurture your audience.
- 7:36SPEAKER_00: Six stages, one order, and over the next several weeks, we're going to be going letter by letter so you can actually build this into your show instead of just nodding along.
- 7:45SPEAKER_00: But you don't have to guess which letter to start with.
- 7:47SPEAKER_00: I built a free podcast growth scorecard that tells you exactly which stage of the listen method that your show is currently stuck in right now.
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: So instead of guessing your way through the six frameworks worth of tactics, you know precisely where to focus first.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: Go ahead and take it.
- 8:01SPEAKER_00: The link to tickets in the show notes, and it takes five minutes or less.
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: All right, that's the framework.
- 8:07SPEAKER_00: Go figure out which letter is yours, and I'll see you next week where we start with letter L.
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: Thanks so much for tuning in, and I'll see you next week.
- 8:15SPEAKER_00: Thank you for tuning in to Podcasting for Moms.
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: I hope today's episode gave you the tools and inspiration you need to make your podcast work smarter, not harder.
