- 0:05Thank you for listening to Depictions Media Radio. You ready welcome back everybody.
- 0:44I remember um like I guess maybe thirty years ago or so. Joking with
- 0:50my friends, we always used to say, let's live life to our fullest
- 0:54because you know what, someday it's not going to be there. And we
- 0:59used to focus on just doing things just because we actually could. We had
- 1:04somebody said, hey, what are you celebrating, and we said it's Wednesday.
- 1:14We got some strange looks at particular day, but the point of it
- 1:19is is that we were just glad to have a day with each other as
- 1:25friends, to just be able to hang out and do the things that we
- 1:29loved. So I want you want you to meet our next guests, Martin
- 1:37and He is known as the Architect of Warriors Life code life is an acronym
- 1:45in this particular case, and he's going to reveal what the acronym actually means
- 1:51when we bring them on. He specializes in helping people frustrated in their life
- 1:57quickly shift their mindset to uncovered their greatness so they can live their true potential
- 2:05and enjoy life. An example of what he's achieved is a client like ROBERTA.
- 2:14Who lost her six figure job due to COVID and came to Martin depressed
- 2:21and felt really lost. Within a short time, she had a quote,
- 2:30direction, focus, and a renewed energy around all the possibilities she says that
- 2:43I could pursue and getting back on track to enjoy life. The key to
- 2:52his success is he has mastered the ability to live incredibly full every day,
- 3:02which he has turned into his own acronym which is now revealed UM and created
- 3:12the Warrior's Life Code coaching program. UM. By time you actually hear this,
- 3:20we recorded it before before Martin's book was was released. UM. The
- 3:28He is going to have his book coming out by by time this actually airs,
- 3:35and it is going to be titled Warrior to Warrior, and he's going
- 3:43to give away some of the secrets of his life Code in that book.
- 3:52So you'll be able to u to get that after June fifteenth, twenty twenty
- 4:00three and find it on Amazon as he has published it. So, uh,
- 4:08let's bring Martin to the show and hear how life and the Life Code
- 4:17actually works. Hey, welcome back to the show, everybody. I wanted
- 4:27to bring on Martin now and he is going to talk about his um Warrior,
- 4:36I'm saying it all wrong in it, uh, Warrior to Light program
- 4:42and life is actually looks like an acronym where it is L dot I dot
- 4:47at dot E dot um. So we gotta find out what the acronym is
- 4:54about. I'm sure. And congratulations um that by time we actually get this
- 5:01air geo or book probably will have launched. Thank you so much, really
- 5:09cool, Thank you so much. I'm very excited about it. And yes,
- 5:13it's called the Warrior's Life Code, and life stands for live incredibly full
- 5:17every day. Wow, that doesn't get me better than that, right right,
- 5:25thank you? I get right to it. And with Dad, I'm
- 5:29not just talking about happiness. I'm also talking about meaningful have a happy,
- 5:33meaningful life. Well, one of the things that earlier in my life I
- 5:41had a problem with psychology, and it was how psychology is being explained to
- 5:46me where they want It seemed like they wanted everything to be on this even
- 5:50keel and there were no ups and downs to life. And my basic belief
- 5:55is that they're supposed to be the ups and downs. How do you enjoy
- 6:00been really full? Uh, like you're on top of the mountain if you
- 6:05never climb the mountain to begin with, exactly right, I don't agree with
- 6:11with them. I'm on your side. I believe that there are always peaks
- 6:14in valleys. It's what happens on those valleys and how you respond to them
- 6:18as opposed to react to them, that decides what happens next. Right,
- 6:25So, well, following your your code, how how how would we respond
- 6:33to or or earn deal with with the valleys? So so yeah, so
- 6:40my my, my premise of living incredibly full every day is starting your day
- 6:45off in the right mindset, being grateful, maybe even praying if that's something
- 6:50that's within you, and then setting yourself up with the right day. For
- 6:56me, my mandres, I live incredibly full every day. So I'm looking
- 7:00for the opportunities instead of looking for the problems and the obstacles. And when
- 7:04they do come up, which they will, is how am I going to
- 7:09respond to them? Because the old me, the guy I used to be,
- 7:13would react to pretty much everything, to the point that often I would
- 7:16overreact in I didn't even call myself a nuclear reactor where I would leave,
- 7:23you know, fall out all over the place. Right right now, we'll
- 7:30talk a little bit. I'm going to poke fundy at the city you live
- 7:33in, because it's a whole city full of people that like, oh my
- 7:36god, did you see what happened? And they just complain all the time,
- 7:42No, forget about it. So, um, actually you did live
- 7:49in one of the most incredible cities in the world in the fact that so
- 7:55many people actually do give, do actually come together, and there is a
- 8:01spirit of that city where um, hey, don't but don't mess with us.
- 8:07We're We're in New York and we're and we stand together. That's right,
- 8:11that's right. People have a on the outside have this view of New
- 8:15York as being tough, unfriendly, uncaring, and I have to say it's
- 8:20I don't believe in any of that. It is not the toughness, but
- 8:24it's definitely a very caring, empathetic care uh wanting to help others uh kind
- 8:31of place. Yeah. Um. And it's so it's no wonder that a
- 8:39architect like yourself would would come up with a life coat um to live by
- 8:48that they would um be fulfilling. Um. Yeah, how did you actually
- 8:54come to this? Because they're not something that you don't always just wake up
- 8:58and like I'm going to be grateful for every day of the rest of my
- 9:07life. Right, it doesn't happen that is that easily. It takes some
- 9:09work, and it takes some deep valleys in my case, from you to
- 9:16have gotten there. And you know, I won't go too far back.
- 9:18I'll only go about fifteen years ago, two thousand and eight. A lot
- 9:24of stuff was going on then, and for me, my wife and I
- 9:26were working on a project for five years by then to build a multimillion dollar
- 9:31health club and tennis center in New Jersey by the shore, by the Jersey
- 9:35Shore. And it took us that long because we came up with the idea.
- 9:39Then we had to find the land by feasibility study, engineering to architects,
- 9:46going to the town, having them go, oh go, get civil
- 9:48engineers to make sure that everything's good in parking and driving and all that.
- 9:54And it took us five years. If we had done it in three or
- 9:56four years in two thousand and six or two thousand and seven, and we
- 10:00walked into the bank, we go, okay, we're ready. Their mindset
- 10:03then was okay, how much money do you need. We'll give you all
- 10:05you need. They were lending money like it was you know, nothing but
- 10:11happened to me. In my case, it was the summer of two thousand
- 10:13and eight. Go to the bank and like, yeah, we're not lending
- 10:16right now. Things are kind of slowing down there. Like, what are
- 10:20you talking about? I have over three million dollars invested between myself and everybody
- 10:24else. Well, that's just the way it is. That's the turn of
- 10:26the dice, as it is. I didn't realize how much they really you
- 10:31know, that they were prophetic, because in September two thousand and eight,
- 10:35Bernie made off the subprime loans and everything else that happened in the financial world
- 10:39just crumbled like a house of cards, and I was stuck at the bottom
- 10:43of the house of cards and I lost absolutely everything. It was. It
- 10:48was a pretty bad day. And it took me about a year to get
- 10:52out of that emotionally mentally depression that I was in. And through that,
- 11:01I went through some therapy and I went through some coaching. I said,
- 11:03Okay, I got to reinvent myself. Now, I gotta figure out,
- 11:07rebuild, do something different. And then so I don't want to be a
- 11:11businessman anymore. I've been doing that for the first fifty years of my life.
- 11:13I wanted to try something else forty five to fifty years at that point.
- 11:18So I looked around and I thought about the things that I liked doing,
- 11:20and one of the things I liked doing was getting involved in community events.
- 11:24And I was always a leader. And it was a leader. People
- 11:28come to you and they go, ah, you're doing everything. What do
- 11:31you need me for? Oh no, we need you. Come in even
- 11:33give us a little time, and in that time, I would show them
- 11:35their worth. I would show them that even a little bit of work was
- 11:39great, and I, you know, uncovered their own potential. I realized
- 11:45I was a life coach without getting paid for it. So I said,
- 11:48you know what, maybe that's something I want to do. So I looked
- 11:50into it. I had had some coaches in my life. I said,
- 11:54yeah, this sounds like a good idea. And about two months before it
- 11:56was time for me to go on and go to training, it was my
- 12:01twenty fourth wedding anniversary, and I said, I'm done with this roller coaster.
- 12:05I went off, I want a divorce. I'm like, Wow,
- 12:11as much as I should know it was coming, until it's real, it
- 12:13doesn't mean anything. And it really hit me hard. Every imagine and every
- 12:18emotion you could think of. I felt. I felt sad, I felt
- 12:24lonely, I felt angry, I felt abandoned. You know, I put
- 12:28in twenty four years plus the time we're going out, and I thought that
- 12:31we could not conquer anything. But what I realized was as that I have
- 12:35to keep going. You know. I kept on feeling like everything's happening to
- 12:39me, but I'd already signed up with this coaching, and I said,
- 12:43you know what, maybe God's telling me something. And I went to that
- 12:48coaching in that first weekend. They said to us, you don't have to
- 12:52continue to be who you think you have to be. You could be whoever
- 12:56you want to be. Thought I thought, wow. As I started to
- 13:00take it and understand what where they were talking about, I started to transform
- 13:03myself. And it wasn't to save my marriage, it wasn't for my children.
- 13:07It was for me. And I realized that if I hadn't done that,
- 13:13who knows where I would have gone. And it was God's plan for
- 13:16me to go through this at a low point in my life, my divorce
- 13:20after two thousand and eight, and really come out of it the other side,
- 13:24kind of like a phoenix, you know, coming out of the fire
- 13:26and raise it rising up, you know. And after I finished coaching training,
- 13:33I said, okay, I think I want to help other people going
- 13:37through a divorce recover from their emotional the pains that they were feeling. So
- 13:43I became a divorce recovery coach and I did that for a few years.
- 13:48And then as I was starting to change and recognize that I need, I
- 13:52was growing. I said, okay, I want to expand this some more.
- 13:56And I was doing things like meditating that I was never very good at
- 14:01because I'm ADHD, but I did it anyway, you know, And I'd
- 14:07sit there for ten minutes like when is this going to be over? You
- 14:09know? But I'd listened to the to the guy, you know, to
- 14:13the guided meditation, and I try to get through it. But one day
- 14:16I had a download of information that I loved where I am in my life
- 14:20at that moment, and that I wanted to show other people how they could
- 14:24enjoy their lives too. And after that ten minute meditation, I wrote for
- 14:28two hours, and out of that came the blueprints the foundation for the Warrior's
- 14:33Life Code and my coaching program and my book as you mentioned and had my
- 14:39card deck. That is kind of like an addition to the book. It's
- 14:43a great way to carry around in your pocket and pull out a card every
- 14:48once in a while when you need something to help you. It takes the
- 14:50principles in just abridges them as it were. So I wrote that and added
- 14:58that came the word life that I was loving what I was doing, and
- 15:01I love acronym. So I came up with live incredibly full every day.
- 15:05And for me it was all encompassing. It was being happy. He was
- 15:09having a meaningful life, and for me that was okay. Sharing what I
- 15:15believe are gifts that I have with others so that they can shift their mindset
- 15:20from lack to abundance, from self conscious to self aware. And you know
- 15:24what, we all think we have that self awareness, but it's probably more
- 15:28of self consciousness and you just don't recognize that you're feeling self conscious instead of
- 15:35self aware. UM, a lot of people out there that they aren't and
- 15:46to tune with themselves as the things that they really are. And some of
- 15:54it is is that we don't ask the hard questions, right, that's right.
- 16:00We want to avoid them because we we want to stay in our comfort
- 16:02zone, right, and it doesn't matter that that comfort zone is actually a
- 16:08new stokiness. Exactly exactly in the front of my card deck, I have
- 16:14this quote by roy T. Bennett. Change begins at the end of your
- 16:21comfort zone. Right. You've got to get comfortably uncomfortable with your life and
- 16:29recognize what's working and more important, what's not working, and what I need
- 16:34to change so that I can't have that happy even meaningful life. And you've
- 16:40got to be willing to push yourself through it. Yeah, So how do
- 16:47you get people with with with your with your coaching process. How do you
- 16:52get people to the edge so that they could actually see I'm going to see
- 16:56the beautiful possibilities in our universe. Head put there and I do like that
- 17:03you use God because I like using God. God created it, created the
- 17:10most fantastic place in impossible out of our universe. And how do you get
- 17:15to the head where they connect you start to see how beautiful it is and
- 17:19what their potential is with that. Right. So I'd love to say it's
- 17:25a snap of the finger, but it's not. It's a work. It's
- 17:27first them admitting that they don't love where they are in their life. And
- 17:33it's by them also recognizing that they're probably saying, I can't morephen than they
- 17:38should be, or it's not possible, or you know, any of those
- 17:45negative thoughts that will hold them down. And that starts by an easy process
- 17:51of waking up every morning and writing down three things you're grateful for. Because
- 17:56when you start to do that on a daily basis, the things that you're
- 18:00complaining start to go away because you have retraining yourself to look for the good
- 18:07things, look for the possibilities, look for the opportunities. And then for
- 18:11me, I do that, I pray and then I say, I live
- 18:15incredibly full every day, and I want to set myself up for those opportunities.
- 18:21Right. Um. Somebody once said to me that God doesn't perform miracles
- 18:29anymore. And I looked at them and they said, you're not looking in
- 18:36the reefplace, because God, for far as miracles every day is just you
- 18:41have to you have to open your eyes and see them. That's right,
- 18:45that's right. I agree with that one. Everything that goes on is a
- 18:51miracle. We take so much for granted that we don't recognize the things that
- 18:56are miracles. You know, somebody recently said to me, you know,
- 19:00I prayed to God and he didn't answer me. And my answer to them
- 19:03was he did you were listening? He said no? And why did he
- 19:10say no? Because it's not what He's got in his plans for you.
- 19:15You're going against the grain of what God's plan is. You got to keep
- 19:19searching and find the one that's the right one for you that God has their
- 19:23few hid it away in some way. Yeah, right, it's it's kind
- 19:33of Um, it was kind of kind of interesting for me with some things
- 19:41that Um when it's I stopped raping it, I stopped complaining and I started
- 19:51waiting up and being grateful just to be available to stand up. Um that
- 20:00the whole everything just kind of started eventually started to switch around and twist,
- 20:07and then I started creating this this wonderful network of fortunately have you on now.
- 20:12Um. But there's there's a process to to that, and there's and
- 20:21we need a guy so um and again, uh, your your life code
- 20:32would seem to would seem to say that that you are they are that guy.
- 20:37I really believe that I am. And I've taken the word life and
- 20:41use them in many different ways. And one of them. Is example is
- 20:45one that I call the life mood lifter method to stay positive no matter what's
- 20:49going on around you. Okay, so the same foot letters life l live
- 20:56responsibly, take responsibility for everything going on in your life. Don't look for
- 21:02anybody else to take the responsibility. Take responsibility for your own life, which
- 21:07then goes into the second one. Inspire yourself by stop complaining and worrying and
- 21:14criticizing. They've got to go from being a warrior to a warrior, which
- 21:18is what my whole course and everything I talk about is it's that worry that
- 21:22holds you back right, and then f feel gratitude, be grateful for what
- 21:29you do, have new people who have much less than you. No matter
- 21:32where you are, there's somebody that's got less, and look at things in
- 21:36a positive way. So that show you could change complaining to appreciating. And
- 21:42then the last one is embraced that these new beliefs are working and be aware
- 21:48as they show up. Don't take them as a one off, don't take
- 21:52them as coincidence. There's no such thing as coincidences. If you're putting out
- 21:56the positive energy, it'll come back to you. It may not come right
- 22:00back to you or it may and you say, oh, that just happens.
- 22:03No, it's part of what's going on, and you've got to recognize
- 22:07it and build on it so that you could have sustainable change. It doesn't
- 22:11happen overnight. You've got to put the work in every day and make it
- 22:15work for you so that it works for everybody. The first second, let's
- 22:22let's focus on that word worried, because there's powering words, right, yes,
- 22:29and what does what does that word actually mean to worry? And what
- 22:37does it actually due to our body chemistry? Yeah, so there are two
- 22:41different words. Does worry and concern? Now? Concern is a strong word
- 22:48in its own right, and worries it a strong word in a different way.
- 22:52Worry means, oh my god, I'm chicken little, I'm running around
- 22:56the world, the sky is falling and I can't do anything about it.
- 23:00And what you're doing is you're sending yourself a message that I'm defeated, and
- 23:07your body is going to take it in and start to deteriorate in ways like
- 23:11with stress, you can develop Ulsa's, you can develop other illnesses just because
- 23:17of the worry. Now. Concern, on the other hand, is me
- 23:22saying Okay, something's got to change. What am I going to do to
- 23:26help that change happen. So with that, you're being proactive or even just
- 23:33active, and you're saying, I'm going to jump in and figure it out.
- 23:37And as you do that, as things start to happen, the endorphins
- 23:41will kick in and things will continue. And if they don't, you've got
- 23:45to say, Okay, why isn't it working and make a quarkstore action.
- 23:48Don't give up. Don't say I give up and it's not going to work.
- 23:51And oh there's no such thing as the law of attraction. No,
- 23:55you got to do the work for it. And you've got to recognize when
- 23:57God is sending you the message that you're not on the right course. You
- 24:02might be in the right course, but maybe not perfect direction. You got
- 24:04to, you know, make a course correction. Right. So one ny
- 24:12is is proactive, meaning you're active part of what's happening. The other one
- 24:18you're just something. The one you're the l You're you're the victim of circumstance.
- 24:23If and that's that's being you being an making excuse and I actually have
- 24:30something that I feel very strong about it. With that and it's another one
- 24:33of my cards which I'm looking for right now, and I call it something
- 24:38very interesting. When things aren't going your way and you want to figure out
- 24:42why it's not or whatever, and you want to look for something else,
- 24:47you usually rationalize all the reasons why it's not happening, or you rationalize why
- 24:51you do something that you shouldn't be doing. Okay. So I think that
- 24:56the word rationalize is really too it's rational lies, okay, And I say,
- 25:04whenever you think you may be doing something that's going against your values,
- 25:08you'll rationalize all the reason why it's okay. What you're really doing is lying
- 25:14to yourself that it's rational to think that it's nothing more than rational lies.
- 25:19And to me, when you rationalize, it's your way of saying, oh,
- 25:23this is the reason, but the reason is nothing more than a disguised
- 25:29excuse that you're not ready to admit. Right, you could have reached out
- 25:33for a different method or results. And the rest is imprinted in you because
- 25:45because it starts to drag you down. Right exactly, everything is perpetual.
- 25:51Positive is perpetual, Negative is perpetual. It's the energy you're giving out if
- 25:56you give out low destructive what I call catag biolic energy, which is destructive,
- 26:02that's what you'll get back. But if you put out good energy,
- 26:06anabolic, constructive energy, and that's what will come back to you. How
- 26:14do you teach somebody to do that? One step at a time. You
- 26:18say, let's start with gratitude. Let's start with reducing how much you're complaining.
- 26:26Okay, it's impossible to go from one hundred complaints a day to zero,
- 26:30but we can go from one hundred to ninety five to ninety And in
- 26:34the meantime, you're going from zero appreciation to five on a scale, as
- 26:41it were. And you're saying, I'm going to start to appreciate the things
- 26:45around me. Oh, what a beautiful day. Oh my wife made me
- 26:48coffee. Wow, what a beautiful thing. Oh. I'm so happy to
- 26:52have children in my life that I love. And if they don't get me,
- 26:56it's about me changing the way that I see me and they see me
- 27:00right and and growing. You know, when they're teenagers, you're like,
- 27:03I don't get it. Well, you know, anything I say it is
- 27:06as if I'm the devil. You know, the teenagers say it in a
- 27:08different way and stop thinking about the negativity that's coming out of you because it's
- 27:14inside of you. They're hearing it because it just happens that way. So
- 27:18and we'll happen work all the time. No, but that doesn't mean you
- 27:22give up. Go at it a different way, right, right, If
- 27:27it doesn't work one way, but there's another path it will work exactly.
- 27:37Um, you're coaching people, you're guiding them and everything. Of course there's
- 27:45um a direction that you're trying to get them to go in that. So
- 27:52for me, it's it's never about my agenda, it's about theirs, okay,
- 28:00and the coach that the job of a coach is to ask the questions
- 28:03so that they can come up with the answers. Now, of course you
- 28:07frame it in ways that helps them to find it. You give them tools
- 28:11like the book to read and the cards as as a foundation, and then
- 28:17you go, let's build on that. And then here's the important point that
- 28:21I believe that everyone should have a coach. I have two or three coaches
- 28:25in my life at any given time. Right, it's to be accountable to
- 28:29someone, you know. It's easy to be accountable to your wife, or
- 28:33to your spouse, or to your children, or to your boss, or
- 28:37to whoever, because you have to be right. But when it comes to
- 28:41being accountable to yourself, it's easily to rationalize that things are going on,
- 28:47so I don't have the time to do what I'd like to do. So
- 28:51you're giving yourself the rational lie that you need to get out of it.
- 28:55By having a coach in place. Now you're accountable to yourself through your coach,
- 29:04and there it is. That's right. Accountability is something that it's very
- 29:15important for progress. Right, It's right. It's right because if you don't
- 29:19have the accountability, how do you know that you're progressing. How do you
- 29:23know that you're moving forward? You could guess it, you could hope it.
- 29:29But by looking at yourself and saying, Okay, these are the goals
- 29:30I'm going to set up for myself. I want to lose one hundred pounds.
- 29:34Is that going to happen overnight? Of course not. But if I
- 29:38put on, if I start working out, and if I start eating better,
- 29:42when I hit three pounds, I'm going to celebrate because I'm three pounds
- 29:45better than I was before. And when I hit ten pounds, I'm going
- 29:48to celebrate some more. Each one of them, and then I'm gonna go
- 29:52back to my accountability partner, my coach and say, Okay, what's working,
- 29:56what's not working? How do we go forward? Do we have to
- 30:00change anything, make course corrections, whatever it is so that I can continue
- 30:03on my journey. I'm important? Is it to actually celebrate it? Even
- 30:11the smallest of victories so important. We're so used to the negative thoughts what
- 30:17I call the ants ant, the automatic negative thoughts that come into our minds
- 30:22that oh, I can't do that, Oh who are you kidding? Is
- 30:29that we need to get rid of that by reinforcing the little celebrations along the
- 30:34way, because that's what keeps you going. You know, inch by inch
- 30:40it's a cinch. Mile by you know, mile by mile it's hard,
- 30:44whatever it is. You know, yard by yard it's hard. Inch by
- 30:45inch its a cinch. Yeah, I knew, I get that. I
- 30:52knew I get it out somehow. There it is. Oh, it's he
- 31:04here's a question for you, because because you're talking about distance and things like
- 31:10that, and um, especially in our society, we have a tendency to
- 31:15measure how we're progressing in our distance to our life distance against someone else's.
- 31:23Yeah, should we be doing row? Should we just pay attention to arrow
- 31:30distance? You know what, no matter how much you think the other person's
- 31:33life is greener, their grass is greener. There's stuff going on that you
- 31:38don't know about. That's number one. Number two. You may need to
- 31:42lose one hundred pounds, right, he may not need to lose any weight
- 31:47because of what else or else he's doing. So comparing yourself to him,
- 31:49you're setting yourself up for failure. Consent. Compare yourself to yourself to where
- 31:56you were, to where you are, and to where you want to be.
- 32:01And that's a continual journey, even when you hit your goal. You
- 32:06know, I tell my clients, we're gonna set up a goal. Okay,
- 32:08and we're seventy five on the way there. We are gonna reevaluate the
- 32:13goals and set up new goals because what's gonna happen when you hit a hundred?
- 32:17Okay, I'm done, Thank you very much. You know what do
- 32:21you do? Check out? Does it work? Yeah? It's checking checking
- 32:29out? Isn't isn't the Is it luck to us? Right? Exactly right?
- 32:35I mean some people think it is and they leave unbelievable grief in behind
- 32:39when they do check out. Yeah, you know, and you know it's
- 32:44sad that some people have to do that, but they don't maybe they don't
- 32:49understand the wake of grief that they leave if they check out, a God
- 32:53forbid, do something crazy, right, you have to, you know,
- 32:58that's the meta version of it. You gotta look at how it's gonna affect
- 33:01everybody around you. And if you're that deep into it, go get the
- 33:06therapy you need to get you out of it. That's not coaching that therapy.
- 33:10Yeah, yeah, there there is a there, there is a very
- 33:15the line between the two. Yes, And there are times I've gone to
- 33:22my clients and say, you know what, you're not ready for me.
- 33:24You need therapy, and it's it's it's only in your best interest to get
- 33:30the therapy because spending time with me, you're just spending money. Great.
- 33:37Yeah, there there are time to win. Um uh. This is explained
- 33:45to me by another friend friend of mine who who was a was a pastor
- 33:51and he was a great counselor. Don't get me wrong, he was a
- 33:52great counselor. And he said said said to me, he said, one
- 33:59day he'sa Michael Is, Like I can keep counseling you, but you're but
- 34:02you're in a meyer is that you need to go see the see the therapists.
- 34:10I come back to me for the counseling after you've gone to the therapists,
- 34:15and he does some work with him because he needs to. He's the
- 34:20one that's going to get you out of the mire so that I can keep
- 34:22counseling. Right. You know, I learned something when I went to coach
- 34:25training, and I think about it all the time. Therapy takes you from
- 34:30dysfunctional to functional. Coaching takes you from functional to optimal. You can't go
- 34:37from dysfunctional to optimal without going to functional. It's not possible. You need
- 34:45to make those small incremental changes and be accountable to yourself, accountable to somebody
- 34:51else so that you can move on and say I'm functioning, I'm not dysfunctional.
- 34:55And then you could say, okay, how can I take go from
- 35:00from striving to thriving? Right? Right? And there's some some very cool
- 35:10distinctions. When will we begin to thride? That's right? That's right.
- 35:20How did you know you were beginning to thrivee yourself? That's a good question.
- 35:25I think when those times when I was at a point where I was
- 35:30not looking Bob, looking back and saying, what's holding me back, other
- 35:36than looking back and reflecting as to what held me back and how that's not
- 35:42helping me back anymore. And when the things that I thought I needed in
- 35:45my life, like the recognition, like the people pleasing that I was,
- 35:51and getting rid of that anger that I always had, that would end up
- 35:55being me being reacting to the person I am now, was me looking and
- 36:00saying I'm thriving now, and I like myself, and I love myself,
- 36:06and I'm ready to be loved by someone else. And I was very fortunate
- 36:13to have people around me who said, you know what, let's find you
- 36:16someone. And I was set up with this woman, and I would go
- 36:20out on dates and I would look to see if they had the values that
- 36:23I never understood before I went through coaching and realized now that I was in
- 36:28a codependent relationship in my first marriage and that I needed to find someone who
- 36:35had the same similar values to me. And I would date and see that,
- 36:37and one day I was set up with a woman who had the same
- 36:42values, and I'd go out on dates and she'd be checking the boxes and
- 36:46about a month into it, I said, I got to tell you something,
- 36:49and you don't need to say to me. I'm falling in love with
- 36:51you because I love who you are and I love that you see me as
- 36:54I am and you're not trying to change me. And I'm very happy to
- 36:58say that we're married for almost five years now mhm. Made that continue.
- 37:06Thank you, Thank you for many many years to come. I just hit
- 37:08my sixty a birthday a few months ago. I told my kids, I've
- 37:12told everybody I'm at the fifty. I'm at the fifty percent mark of my
- 37:15life. I've got another sixty to go. There you go, that's it.
- 37:22May may it be a healthy, in fulfilling sixty. That's right.
- 37:31Actually I have much say that. Part of that wi, part of that
- 37:35wishes is a wish for myself also because I'm not too far behind you.
- 37:39You great, I wish the same for you. So yeah, um,
- 37:50if you could wish up the most perfect world, what would it look like,
- 37:57Martin? The most perfect world? Yeah, I would say it's a
- 38:01world full of optimism, happiness, meaningfulness, and everybody looking to help everyone
- 38:10and understand that freedom is beautiful. But there are some things that need to
- 38:16come with it, and that you know, freedom is not free, but
- 38:20that means that you understand that other people are all contributing to the great the
- 38:24greatness of the world. I think that's one of the best answers I've gotten
- 38:32to that. But oh wow, well it's interesting that one. Let me,
- 38:42let me qualify that because it's because you you're painting it for that,
- 38:47I also can believe in with freedom that you know, we gotta we have
- 38:53to work for. Yeah, exactly, it's it's not handed to you.
- 38:59Yeah, we Cappen delivered a society in America and Canada where freedom is is
- 39:05we take it for granted. We we think it's it's our it's our right,
- 39:09it's a privilege, and we have to recognize that as it is.
- 39:14Yeah, that's right. So anyway, Um, the name of the book
