Latest / Foul Territory / Ken Rosenthal's Inside Scoop: Trade winds updates, Aaron Judge’s status, Hunter Goodman's HR Derby snub
Transcript
- 0:05Speaker 1: It's the inside Scoop with FTCNI or insider Ken Rosenthal.
- 0:08Speaker 1: Ken will start with the Yankees because one of the
- 0:09Speaker 1: best players of our generation, Aaron Judge, has been out
- 0:12Speaker 1: for a while and things still sound a little bit
- 0:15Speaker 1: weird and unknown with the Yanks. So what do we
- 0:17Speaker 1: know here? And I want to tie everything always to
- 0:20Speaker 1: the trade deadline at this point, like does this change
- 0:22Speaker 1: the plans for the Yankees depending on how this all
- 0:24Speaker 1: goes well.
- 0:26Speaker 2: All we know right now is that he is getting
- 0:28Speaker 2: as this tweet shows from Gary Phillips reimaging at the
- 0:32Speaker 2: All Star break, and general manager Brian Cashman said yesterday
- 0:35Speaker 2: that he doesn't expect the imaging to be clean. What
- 0:39Speaker 2: they're hoping for is improvement so that Judge can start
- 0:43Speaker 2: to do some things physically, because with this injury he
- 0:46Speaker 2: is really limited now. The expectation is still that Judge
- 0:50Speaker 2: will be back this season. If something that they learned
- 0:53Speaker 2: from this imaging changes that, then yes, of course the
- 0:56Speaker 2: deadline would be maybe a different animal than it would
- 0:59Speaker 2: be otherwise. But if it appears off this imaging that
- 1:04Speaker 2: he'll be back, I don't know, sometime in August. I
- 1:07Speaker 2: would think it doesn't have much of an effect, and
- 1:09Speaker 2: they'll try to do what they want to do, which
- 1:11Speaker 2: is short up their bullpen, find another catcher, and do
- 1:15Speaker 2: some other things as well.
- 1:17Speaker 3: How does it change their outlook in the sense of
- 1:20Speaker 3: are they not pleased or do they look a little
- 1:24Speaker 3: bit short in the outfield if this imaging shows no
- 1:27Speaker 3: improvement like they're hoping for.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Obviously, Eric, if you don't have Aaron judge, you're short
- 1:34Speaker 2: and they know that. We all know that, and that
- 1:38Speaker 2: I guess would be the fear here. That's something that
- 1:41Speaker 2: they learn from the imaging is amiss or not progressing
- 1:45Speaker 2: the way they want it, And then yes, you have
- 1:48Speaker 2: to decide, Okay, do we go get an outfielder now?
- 1:51Speaker 2: And I imagine that's not what they want to do.
- 1:54Speaker 2: They have other things that they need to address right now,
- 1:56Speaker 2: maybe even a starting pitcher along with what I mentioned
- 1:59Speaker 2: the bullpen and the right handed hitting catcher. But we
- 2:04Speaker 2: have to wait and see just what this says and
- 2:06Speaker 2: what they say about the imaging that he's going to have.
- 2:11Speaker 4: Yeah, and I think that's probably the most frustrating part
- 2:14Speaker 4: of the whole thing, the what ifs or what did
- 2:16Speaker 4: we miss or anything else we got the all Star
- 2:19Speaker 4: Game coming up. All that, But again with the Yankees,
- 2:22Speaker 4: say Judge has another setback, what do you think is
- 2:25Speaker 4: the most important I know you talk about a catching,
- 2:27Speaker 4: but for me, I think they got to get some
- 2:30Speaker 4: more pieces in that bullpen coming up in the trade deadline.
- 2:32Speaker 2: No, yes, Todd, That's what I've thought. I think most
- 2:36Speaker 2: people have thought that all along. That from the start
- 2:38Speaker 2: of the season, it was believed suspected that the bullpen
- 2:43Speaker 2: would be the biggest weakness. Now Austin Wells did a
- 2:46Speaker 2: home run last night, but they still want to fortify
- 2:48Speaker 2: the catching. They've been upfront about that. Fran Cashman said
- 2:51Speaker 2: that I believe a couple of days ago, so those
- 2:54Speaker 2: two things for me and for the Yankees would be
- 2:57Speaker 2: the priorities still. But again, if this imaging shows something
- 3:02Speaker 2: that is not as positive as maybe they hope, then
- 3:06Speaker 2: perhaps that changes.
- 3:08Speaker 3: All right. Now, let's go to the Central with the
- 3:10Speaker 3: division leading White Sox, which when Morikami, their central MVP
- 3:16Speaker 3: from their team, got hurt, I said they have to
- 3:19Speaker 3: stay afloat. Well, I think they've done more than stay afloat.
- 3:22Speaker 3: What does his return mean, not just for this team, obviously,
- 3:25Speaker 3: you're getting a twenty home run guy the way he
- 3:27Speaker 3: was on pace to possibly hit fifty. But also for
- 3:32Speaker 3: this team's trade deadline expectations.
- 3:35Speaker 2: I don't know that it changes the deadline, but Eric,
- 3:38Speaker 2: it's a meaningful thing. There's no question about it. As
- 3:40Speaker 2: you just mentioned, and I saw some of their players
- 3:43Speaker 2: quoted this morning as saying not that their vibe is
- 3:46Speaker 2: bad right now. It's not. They've lost four in a row, though,
- 3:49Speaker 2: and certainly the return of Morikami is going to elevate them,
- 3:54Speaker 2: not only on the field but in the clubhouse. He
- 3:56Speaker 2: is a guy that they've kind of rallied around, so
- 3:59Speaker 2: that is gonna be big for them. Offense has not
- 4:01Speaker 2: been the problem with the White Sox. The pitching is
- 4:04Speaker 2: the question. Specifically, they're starting pitching, and that is what
- 4:09Speaker 2: I would like to see them upgrade. Yes, like every
- 4:12Speaker 2: other contender, they're gonna want bullpen help as well, maybe
- 4:15Speaker 2: even a real closer, Sir Anthony Demingez, I don't see
- 4:20Speaker 2: that way, even though they signed him for that role.
- 4:23Speaker 2: So a starting pitcher, a bullpen arm, and then they're
- 4:26Speaker 2: an interesting club. They're an interesting club right now. I
- 4:28Speaker 2: shouldn't say it that way. They're definitely interesting, but they
- 4:32Speaker 2: get more interesting if they add.
- 4:35Speaker 3: Is there a payroll issue? Obviously you can't know that
- 4:40Speaker 3: without talking to Chris Getz or the owner. But a
- 4:43Speaker 3: team that did not much spending, but they did spend
- 4:46Speaker 3: on more Kami, is there a payroll maybe move that
- 4:51Speaker 3: we would be surprised with the White Sox or is
- 4:53Speaker 3: it gonna be staying your lane? White Sox.
- 4:57Speaker 2: I'd be surprised if payroll was an issue for them,
- 5:00Speaker 2: simply because they're playing well. They want to win. Their owner,
- 5:04Speaker 2: Jerry Ryansdorf, is up there in age and I'm sure
- 5:07Speaker 2: he wants to push if he can push at a
- 5:09Speaker 2: reasonable level. The bigger problem, or bigger restriction for them
- 5:14Speaker 2: might be just their willingness to trade prospects because like
- 5:18Speaker 2: the Cardinals, and like the Nationals and to a certain extent,
- 5:21Speaker 2: the Marlins, they're still in the process of building a
- 5:24Speaker 2: sustainable contender. That's what the goal is, not just to
- 5:28Speaker 2: contend this year, but long term. And I know fans
- 5:31Speaker 2: gets hired of hearing that a little bit when there's
- 5:33Speaker 2: an opportunity to win, and that opportunity to win should
- 5:36Speaker 2: never be taken for granted. But the White Sox have
- 5:40Speaker 2: worked hard to get to this point like those other
- 5:42Speaker 2: clubs I mentioned, and they're not going to simply abandon that.
- 5:47Speaker 2: All that said, they've got the number one pick in
- 5:49Speaker 2: the draft tomorrow. They have not a glut of infielders
- 5:55Speaker 2: in the miners and majors, but they have a seeming
- 5:58Speaker 2: possible surplus given that they do have the ability because
- 6:02Speaker 2: of the depth that they've built up to maybe do
- 6:05Speaker 2: some things at the deadline, and I expect that they
- 6:08Speaker 2: will within reason, and that means not just in a
- 6:11Speaker 2: financial sense, but in a prospect sense as well.
- 6:14Speaker 3: Look in summertime, it's cool in the morning, hot during
- 6:17Speaker 3: the day, cool again at night. Rarely am I sitting
- 6:21Speaker 3: there going, Oh, I'm just gonna do one thing at
- 6:23Speaker 3: a time. I'm bouncing from work, I'm bouncing in the yard,
- 6:26Speaker 3: I'm running to a game. Fabletics has got me with price,
- 6:31Speaker 3: comfort and versatility with all the gear that I'm getting
- 6:35Speaker 3: from them.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Yeah, we're talking about premium activewear you'd expect from higher
- 6:39Speaker 1: end brands, but without the price tag. Lightweight, breatheable, comfortable,
- 6:43Speaker 1: built to actually last. And if you're going to Fabletics,
- 6:48Speaker 1: you should be joining as a VIP, which completely changes
- 6:51Speaker 1: the game You can shop now at fabletics dot com
- 6:54Speaker 1: slash foul to get seventy to eighty percent off everything.
- 6:58Speaker 5: When you sign up as a new VIP, you take
- 7:00Speaker 5: a quick style quiz and be sure to select foul
- 7:03Speaker 5: when prompted to unlock this offer. This is a limited

- 7:09Speaker 5: slash foul for seventy to eighty percent off everything as
- 7:13Speaker 5: a new VIP.
- 7:14Speaker 4: So what does it mean for Sandy Alcantara, Man, We've
- 7:17Speaker 4: had tons of conversations about this guy. Should he move,
- 7:20Speaker 4: should he not move? I mean, there was opportunities all
- 7:24Speaker 4: the time for him in the last couple of years
- 7:26Speaker 4: to be on different teams, and they've kept them. I
- 7:28Speaker 4: give him credit, but is that another thing for them?
- 7:31Speaker 4: You know, if we're going to do all this, we
- 7:33Speaker 4: might as well keep Sandy as well. I know you
- 7:35Speaker 4: talked about this in your column.
- 7:37Speaker 2: I did, Todd. I just wrote about this this morning.
- 7:40Speaker 2: They're going to keep him now. Obviously, if they collapse
- 7:43Speaker 2: in the next three weeks, all bets are off. But
- 7:45Speaker 2: you see the headline there, Moreland's likely to keep about
- 7:48Speaker 2: Contra and strategically add they want to do both things,
- 7:52Speaker 2: and they're not going to go crazy either. And their
- 7:55Speaker 2: system is not necessarily where they would want it to
- 7:59Speaker 2: be in terms of having to trade prospects. But they
- 8:02Speaker 2: can also trade off at a major league club, and
- 8:04Speaker 2: I think we're going to see a lot of trades
- 8:06Speaker 2: like this where you see major leaguers exchange for major leaguers.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Those prospect trades teams are more reluctant than ever to make.
- 8:14Speaker 2: So the Marlins are ten games over five hundred. They
- 8:18Speaker 2: have a three game lead for the third National Nation
- 8:22Speaker 2: League wildcard, a three game cushion in the wildcard race,
- 8:25Speaker 2: and they're tied with the Phillies, just a few games
- 8:27Speaker 2: behind the Braves in the National League East. You see
- 8:30Speaker 2: the standings right there, just three games back. So they're
- 8:33Speaker 2: in a great spot. And let's say they go five
- 8:36Speaker 2: hundred until the deadline, well they'd still be ten over
- 8:40Speaker 2: and still be in a great spot. So they are
- 8:43Speaker 2: trending upward. They are the best team in baseball since
- 8:46Speaker 2: June first. They started the season twenty six and thirty four,
- 8:50Speaker 2: and their twenty six and eight cents that's pretty good.
- 8:53Speaker 2: They also got Jansen junk Back last night into their rotation.
- 8:56Speaker 2: They could use another starter, they could use bullpen help.
- 8:59Speaker 2: Of course, I don't know how extensive their buying will be,
- 9:04Speaker 2: but they are in a position now where they can
- 9:06Speaker 2: at least entertain the idea and say, okay, this is realistic.
- 9:10Speaker 2: We could be a playoff team.
- 9:13Speaker 3: I love Big leaguer for big League of trades. And
- 9:15Speaker 3: when you said that, do you have any inclination of
- 9:18Speaker 3: where they have Like you said about the other teams,
- 9:20Speaker 3: we're talking about a glut of positions where the Marlins
- 9:24Speaker 3: just can't get quite enough at bats for these players
- 9:26Speaker 3: that other teams will be like, I would take that
- 9:29Speaker 3: type of player well.
- 9:31Speaker 2: As I wrote, I wouldn't call it a glut, but
- 9:34Speaker 2: I expect them to draw interest in Liam Hicks, who
- 9:36Speaker 2: has had a tremendous season. They've got Joe Mack who
- 9:40Speaker 2: is their fabulous rookie. He is going to be their
- 9:43Speaker 2: number one catcher. They've been playing Hicks at first base
- 9:45Speaker 2: in DH as well. But you can go with the
- 9:48Speaker 2: backup Navaretto. You can bring Augustine Ramirez back to the
- 9:52Speaker 2: big leagues. You can also trade for another more established
- 9:55Speaker 2: backup catcher if you want, so that is one way
- 9:59Speaker 2: they can go. I don't know that I would call
- 10:01Speaker 2: it a surplus there. And listen, Liam Hicks is having
- 10:04Speaker 2: a great year. I wouldn't imagine the Marlins want to
- 10:06Speaker 2: trade him, but to get the help that they need,
- 10:09Speaker 2: and what they want is a third baseman, possibly a
- 10:12Speaker 2: back end starter, possibly relief help. They might have to
- 10:15Speaker 2: do some things along those lines while protecting the top
- 10:18Speaker 2: of their system.
- 10:20Speaker 4: Go to a team. I feel like I haven't talked
- 10:22Speaker 4: about a lot that Baltimore Orioles. A couple of years ago,
- 10:26Speaker 4: it was big on getting rid of the guys, and
- 10:28Speaker 4: they picked up some guys this year, which was fantastic.
- 10:31Speaker 4: Tough time for the Al East. They're not gonna it
- 10:34Speaker 4: looks like they're gonna have a tough time to win
- 10:36Speaker 4: that they're four games out in the wild Card. What
- 10:38Speaker 4: do these guys do? I mean, what do you think
- 10:40Speaker 4: the next steps for them? I mean, are they gonna
- 10:42Speaker 4: fight to try and get back into this or kind
- 10:45Speaker 4: of let down a little bit?
- 10:47Speaker 2: Todd three and a half weeks to go to the deadline,
- 10:49Speaker 2: so they're not going to concede just yet. The trend
- 10:53Speaker 2: that they are facing is that they are trending toward
- 10:56Speaker 2: being a seller. And then for them, that would mean
- 10:59Speaker 2: their players expiring contracts. Trevor Rodgers would be one, Taylor
- 11:03Speaker 2: Ward would be another, and they would probably have to
- 11:06Speaker 2: entertain at some point Adlie Rushman, their catcher as well,
- 11:09Speaker 2: who has a year beyond this one. And they have
- 11:11Speaker 2: not signed to an extension. So they are, like a
- 11:16Speaker 2: lot of American League clubs, in a position where one
- 11:19Speaker 2: good week could really change their outlook. But we've been
- 11:23Speaker 2: waiting for that good week all season long. And you
- 11:25Speaker 2: see where they are there in the wild card standings.
- 11:28Speaker 2: It's not a great place to be. Yeah, they're four out.
- 11:31Speaker 2: They've also got five teams ahead of them just to
- 11:33Speaker 2: get to the third spot. So again, if they ever
- 11:37Speaker 2: turn it on and they have time still to do that,
- 11:40Speaker 2: then you maybe look at them differently. But right now
- 11:42Speaker 2: they are trending for sure toward becoming a seller, all right.
- 11:47Speaker 3: Have the Red Sox screwed themselves in the next step
- 11:49Speaker 3: of their development as a team because of this last
- 11:52Speaker 3: stretch I think fifteen and six or fourteen and six
- 11:56Speaker 3: and they've won so many straight, sweeping the Yankees. Have
- 11:58Speaker 3: they screwed themselves and just gonna kind of screw the
- 12:01Speaker 3: whole trade market?
- 12:02Speaker 2: With these wins, eric Ita, know that I would ever
- 12:05Speaker 2: refer to a surge as a team screwing itself. But
- 12:09Speaker 2: I know where you're going with it, and you raise
- 12:12Speaker 2: a good point, because there are teams every year Texas.
- 12:15Speaker 2: Each of the last two years kind of was okay.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Right before the deadline, team bought and they sputtered the
- 12:22Speaker 2: Red Sox are as you said surging here, and that would,
- 12:27Speaker 2: if it continues, seemingly inhibit them from trading Wilson Contreras
- 12:32Speaker 2: and Sonny Gray and anyone else they might want to.
- 12:35Speaker 2: And in that sense, a role as Chapman would be
- 12:38Speaker 2: another one. Maybe contrasts not so much, but in that sense, yeah,
- 12:43Speaker 2: if they don't make the playoffs at that point and
- 12:45Speaker 2: you've kept these guys and then you get value for them,
- 12:48Speaker 2: in a sense, you have set yourself back. But keep
- 12:52Speaker 2: in mind the big picture here. They fired manager Alex
- 12:55Speaker 2: core with the idea of playing better. They finally are
- 12:59Speaker 2: playing batter the President of Baseball Operations or chief Baseball Officer,
- 13:03Speaker 2: they call it, Craig Breslow. He's been under the gun
- 13:06Speaker 2: all season long, and I am sure he wants this
- 13:10Speaker 2: team to play as he envisioned as he envisioned after
- 13:14Speaker 2: he fired Cora. So they're a fascinating team to watch
- 13:18Speaker 2: in these weeks ahead, as are some of the others.
- 13:20Speaker 2: We've talked about the Orioles as well. I don't know
- 13:24Speaker 2: where they're going. We don't know. We're gonna have to
- 13:26Speaker 2: find out and see how they play. But yes, they're
- 13:28Speaker 2: playing a lot better. Detroit is playing a lot better.
- 13:32Speaker 2: These teams are going to face decisions.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Hey, for the families out there looking for a different

- 13:52Speaker 5: I know you liked it.
- 13:53Speaker 4: Yeah, I did. I liked it a lot. All my
- 13:55Speaker 4: kids have done it before. It's an opportunity for them
- 13:58Speaker 4: to stay at home and enjoy school just as much.
- 14:02Speaker 4: They learn a lot. And this is an opportunity for
- 14:05Speaker 4: families that are on the go too as well. They
- 14:07Speaker 4: have to understand, Listen, can't be at a regular school
- 14:10Speaker 4: at all times. I need my child to be doing this,
- 14:12Speaker 4: whether it's an athletic career or whatever stature they are at,

- 14:34Speaker 3: All right, everybody's playing a lot better. Jim Dukent was
- 14:36Speaker 3: on the show yesterday and he said, yeah, well, they
- 14:38Speaker 3: just won two games in a row and they're back
- 14:40Speaker 3: in it talking about another team. Is this a case
- 14:43Speaker 3: where too many playoff spots have kind of killed what
- 14:46Speaker 3: I think is exciting for baseball? The trade deadline?
- 14:51Speaker 2: No question, it's had a huge effect. Eric, and I
- 14:54Speaker 2: don't know that it's killed the deadline because we've had
- 14:57Speaker 2: active deadlines the last few years, for sure, But at
- 15:01Speaker 2: this stage right now, as we see there on July tenth,
- 15:04Speaker 2: it's muddled. It's crazy muddled. I would expect some definition
- 15:09Speaker 2: by the deadline August third, but I don't know that
- 15:12Speaker 2: that is necessarily going to take place. It's kind of
- 15:14Speaker 2: a weird year. The American League is mediocre, the National
- 15:17Speaker 2: League isn't all that great except for a few teams either.
- 15:21Speaker 2: So I wouldn't say the expanded postseason has killed the deadline,
- 15:26Speaker 2: but it certainly has had almost a muting effect, and
- 15:30Speaker 2: it's changed the way teams approach it. In some ways,
- 15:33Speaker 2: it's good because more teams are in it, and more
- 15:36Speaker 2: teams can look at themselves that way and not sell.
- 15:39Speaker 2: But in some ways, as you kind of allude to here,
- 15:42Speaker 2: it's bad because yes, you have this incredible massive teams
- 15:47Speaker 2: that are seemingly undecided at least right now, and might
- 15:51Speaker 2: still be undecided by August third.
- 15:53Speaker 4: I want to talk a little bit home run Derby
- 15:55Speaker 4: right up my alley. I know it's one of those
- 15:58Speaker 4: events where people love that of watching balls go out
- 16:01Speaker 4: of the park. I don't know if have you seen
- 16:02Speaker 4: the field yet. Of seven guys so far, have you
- 16:05Speaker 4: taken a peak at all.
- 16:07Speaker 2: I've taken a peak. Yeah, And certainly Harper is the
- 16:09Speaker 2: guy to watch. And if Schwarber's in it that you
- 16:11Speaker 2: guys were talking about, that's gonna be the focus those
- 16:15Speaker 2: two guys in their home park. Schwarber, of course, one
- 16:18Speaker 2: of the great home run hitters of our time, So
- 16:21Speaker 2: there are some interesting names there. I wouldn't rule out
- 16:23Speaker 2: Junior Cavanaro either. But at the same time, the Philly
- 16:26Speaker 2: guys are going to be incredibly supported by their home
- 16:32Speaker 2: crowd and it's just gonna be fun to see them
- 16:33Speaker 2: do their thing.
- 16:35Speaker 4: Who else there's one missing? Is there a guy in
- 16:38Speaker 4: your mind that would you would love to see? I mean,
- 16:40Speaker 4: we brought up Murakami, Pete Alonzo. We've been on the
- 16:43Speaker 4: Hunter Goodman train for a while. Is that anybody besides
- 16:47Speaker 4: those three? Would you like to see one of those guys?
- 16:49Speaker 2: Well, they haven't named Schwarber, right or is he officially?
- 16:53Speaker 4: They just did? They just did.
- 16:54Speaker 2: They just did. Okay, Hunter Goodman and you guys had
- 16:57Speaker 2: him on and I know you asked him and he said,
- 16:59Speaker 2: I haven't heard the thing. That dude, he said twenty
- 17:03Speaker 2: seven homers. I believe eighteen on the road. I'm not
- 17:06Speaker 2: sure the exact stats. Hey, that guy should be there,
- 17:10Speaker 2: and he's already an All Star. And you know what,
- 17:12Speaker 2: the Rockets get so little attention, deservedly, so in many cases,
- 17:16Speaker 2: here's a guy that finally is someone who can showcase
- 17:20Speaker 2: on the national stage. They probably want a bigger name.
- 17:24Speaker 2: I get it, and maybe that bigger name is coming great,
- 17:27Speaker 2: but Hunter Goodman to me would be the guy I know.
- 17:30Speaker 2: Alonso has spoken of how he really kind of foiled
- 17:34Speaker 2: his own All Star chances this year with his poor April,
- 17:36Speaker 2: and he basically said he wasn't deserving. He's always great
- 17:39Speaker 2: in the whole run Derby two time champion, but Goodman
- 17:43Speaker 2: to me is deserving and it would be cool to
- 17:45Speaker 2: see him amongst those others.
- 17:51Speaker 3: Cap I've been looking for the best deals for the
- 17:53Speaker 3: All Star Game tickets in Philly. Where are you gonna
- 17:55Speaker 3: get some tickets from?
- 17:57Speaker 6: I'm going straight out to Rye Field. If Harper and
- 18:00Speaker 6: Schwarber both joined the home run Derby, I want to
- 18:02Speaker 6: be catching the hometown guys hating them. So I'm going
- 18:04Speaker 6: out to the right field kind of where I think
- 18:05Speaker 6: I could get the best chance of catching one of
- 18:07Speaker 6: those home runs.
- 18:08Speaker 3: Maybe in the second deck. You can go on the
- 18:10Speaker 3: app and you can look to see what your view
- 18:12Speaker 3: is going to because the boys are going to be
- 18:13Speaker 3: launching them. Jones and with over thirty five million downloads,
- 18:16Speaker 3: see Geek is the number one rated ticketing app. There
- 18:20Speaker 3: are more than seventy thousand events listed at seekk, including concerts, sports, festivals,
- 18:25Speaker 3: and more. And of course I have a code for y'all.
- 18:28Speaker 3: You can use the code Territory ten for ten percent
- 18:31Speaker 3: off your next set of MLB tickets at sea Geek.
- 18:34Speaker 3: That's ten percent off MLB tickets with promo code Territory ten.
- 18:39Speaker 3: Make sure you click the link in the description to
- 18:41Speaker 3: download the app and have the code automatically added to
- 18:44Speaker 3: your account so you could use it later. Thank you
- 18:46Speaker 3: to sea Geek and we'll see you at the game.
- 18:49Speaker 3: If you had to ask whoever's making these decisions about
- 18:52Speaker 3: why they've asked Wilson contraras before he was named an
- 18:56Speaker 3: All star, Jack cagleone before that, with what Hunter Goodman's doing,
- 19:00Speaker 3: and really the game wants to be built just like
- 19:02Speaker 3: you said, around all thirty teams. What would be the
- 19:06Speaker 3: question you would ask Manfred or somebody in the front
- 19:09Speaker 3: office who makes these requests to guys that Hunter Goodman
- 19:12Speaker 3: wasn't asked until or hasn't been asked before, Guys who
- 19:16Speaker 3: aren't even all stars.
- 19:18Speaker 2: Erica's situation, like this simple question, why is Hunter Goodman
- 19:22Speaker 2: not part of the field, then they can answer it
- 19:25Speaker 2: it's open ended and they can answer it however they want,
- 19:28Speaker 2: and then we would have some idea. They have their reasons,
- 19:32Speaker 2: of course, and I'm sure they're trying to put together
- 19:34Speaker 2: the best field they can and maybe they feel for
- 19:36Speaker 2: whatever reason that they can get a bigger name.
- 19:40Speaker 4: But I don't know.
- 19:42Speaker 2: Jordan Walker's in this, and Jordan Walker is a breakout
- 19:45Speaker 2: guy like Hunter Goodman. He's more famous in the sense
- 19:49Speaker 2: that he was a big prospect, But I don't see
- 19:52Speaker 2: much difference honestly between the two.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Yeah, Ken, I think you know, some fans are like,
- 20:00Speaker 1: you're on the money here, and others are like, you're
- 20:03Speaker 1: making too big a deal out of this.
- 20:04Speaker 4: But I do have a hard.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Time when we have another catcher who's on pace for
- 20:08Speaker 1: what fifty plus home runs, he's top it's been top three,
- 20:12Speaker 1: if not top five whatever home runs for most of
- 20:14Speaker 1: the season, and he's an All Star, and then we
- 20:17Speaker 1: skip him, like, I just can't really come up with
- 20:20Speaker 1: a way that this makes sense. So it's kind of
- 20:22Speaker 1: and then we bring him on and he's pissed about it.
- 20:25Speaker 1: And sorry, one more point here, Jack Kagloan, like they said,
- 20:29Speaker 1: Royal stink.
- 20:31Speaker 5: He's early in his career. He's not an All Star like.
- 20:33Speaker 1: I just can't understand the math here where they're denying
- 20:37Speaker 1: someone an opportunity that deserves to be there.
- 20:41Speaker 2: I agree, Scott, Now I understand why fans would say,
- 20:44Speaker 2: why are you making a big deal out of this?
- 20:47Speaker 2: It's the home run Derby. It's not anything more meaningful
- 20:51Speaker 2: than that, just as the All Star Game is just
- 20:53Speaker 2: the All Star Game. But you pick the players. You
- 20:56Speaker 2: want to see the best players. It's as simple as that,
- 20:58Speaker 2: and that is all we're talking about here. I always
- 21:01Speaker 2: enjoy these kinds of controversies regarding the Derby and the
- 21:05Speaker 2: All Star Game because they're essentially harmless.
- 21:08Speaker 7: No one really gets hurt with a snub in the
- 21:10Speaker 7: All Star Game. One tenth of the players make it.
- 21:13Speaker 7: It's not a big deal. Same with the home run Derby.
- 21:16Speaker 7: No one's gonna have their career altered by not.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Being in it. That said, you want to see new players,
- 21:23Speaker 2: You want to see exciting players, and I believe mister Goodwin.
- 21:26Speaker 5: Qualifies oh career altered.
- 21:29Speaker 1: Todd Father, how often does your introduction start with home
- 21:33Speaker 1: run Derby?
- 21:34Speaker 3: Champ?
- 21:36Speaker 4: It gets talked about a lot, for sure.
- 21:39Speaker 2: Okay, I take it back.
- 21:43Speaker 4: I don't think. I don't think Ken's a fan of
- 21:45Speaker 4: the home run Derby. I'm man, are you a fan
- 21:47Speaker 4: of the home run Derby?
- 21:49Speaker 2: It's okay.
- 21:50Speaker 4: I could hear it in his voice. I could see it.
- 21:53Speaker 4: I know it.
- 21:54Speaker 2: I could tell you smart when the Todd father won
- 21:57Speaker 2: it and Sinsey that was cool. There's no question, and
- 22:01Speaker 2: a couple of Alonzo's very memorable going way back, Josh Hamilton. Yes,
- 22:07Speaker 2: it's but at the same time, it's the home run Derby.
- 22:11Speaker 2: It's not Game seven here, you know.
- 22:13Speaker 4: You know I could read, I could feel it, I
- 22:15Speaker 4: feel in your in your chin, in your area.
- 22:18Speaker 3: That's one of those guys, Todd. So don't worry about it.
- 22:20Speaker 3: We'll make sure he comes on on Thursdays now Friday.
- 22:25Speaker 1: That was actually a great read, and it makes Sense's
- 22:28Speaker 1: there for the adrenaline rush of the games? You know
- 22:31Speaker 1: it is still an exhibition, right, it's not. It's not
- 22:34Speaker 1: hurting anyone season or any of that. I mean, unless
- 22:36Speaker 1: you're into the Oh, he's taken too many swings. But
- 22:39Speaker 1: I'm with you, Ken, that makes sense. Uh, good talk.
- 22:41Speaker 1: We will sell.
- 22:43Speaker 2: And you're a smart dude, You're a perceptive man.
- 22:47Speaker 1: He's got a good read. He's a feels guy. Yeah,
- 22:50Speaker 1: thanks Ketain, We'll see you next week.
- 22:52Speaker 2: Thanks guys,
