- 0:53So I just want to start the podcast by saying thank you.
- 0:56Thank you.
- 0:56Thank you.
- 0:57Thank you.
- 0:57All right.
- 0:58So today we're going to talk about pain as your companion.
- 1:02Yes.
- 1:03Many people.
- 1:04Uh, suffering with.
- 1:06Pain.
- 1:07And they don't know how to get rid of it.
- 1:09So did you know, more than 95% of the population is experiencing some type of pain or discomfort?
- 1:16And it's increasing every day.
- 1:18It is crazy to think that most of us are going through life Dillon and accepting pain.
- 1:24And we don't know what to do.
- 1:26We can either ignore it.
- 1:28Or numb it.
- 1:29However, what most people do not understand is that pain.
- 1:33If it's not controlled or eliminated.
- 1:36What it's mental pain.
- 1:38Emotional pain, physical pain or psychological pain can turn into poor sleep.
- 1:43Brain fog.
- 1:44Digestive issues at DAS bloat acid reflux.
- 1:48Fatigue.
- 1:49Heartburn.
- 1:50Stomach pain, restless leg syndrome, anxiety, depression, and chronic half conditions, including autoimmune conditions.
- 1:58A lot of the pain that we are suffering with, we can't see.
- 2:01Right.
- 2:02Like emotional pain.
- 2:03Mental pain.
- 2:04We cannot see, we cannot feel them physical pain.
- 2:07We can write your back is hurting your knees hurting.
- 2:10I have pain.
- 2:10The one that we can see.
- 2:12That physical pain, we can numb it with medications.
- 2:17Or we can just go through life, pushing through with the pain.
- 2:21However, people cries for two reasons.
- 2:24Reason number one because they are happy joy.
- 2:27Oh, the crying because they are hurting.
- 2:30The soul is hurting.
- 2:32I was talking to a patient the other day, who came to our practice.
- 2:35And he was telling us how he is doing so many things for everyone around him.
- 2:41And sometimes it's doing things because it is not because he wants to, because he doesn't want to say no to people.
- 2:47And then after he's done taking care of that person, He will find himself being angry.
- 2:53Crying frustrated.
- 2:55Like being mean to himself, quite himself.
- 2:57Stupid.
- 2:58What did you do?
- 2:59This I'm a loser, like literally saying harsh things to himself, but he doesn't know how to say no.
- 3:05And that was studying him because you in pain.
- 3:07He looked at me.
- 3:07He said, what do you mean I'm in pain.
- 3:08I'm not, yeah.
- 3:09Your soul is hurting.
- 3:11That's why you people please.
- 3:14And then after that, when you're on your own.
- 3:16You like you literally sitting with yourself evaluating what you just did.
- 3:20And you find yourself in a space where your soul is literally crying out to you and say, stop.
- 3:26So this is the type of pain that kind of increases mental illness, that many of us are not aware of.
- 3:32And we don't know how to fix it.
- 3:33But with pain as a constant companion, many are forced to give up jobs.
- 3:39Social interaction.
- 3:41Friends or even enjoying life.
- 3:44I was talking to a patient who loved what she does for a living.
- 3:48However, the place that she works in is very toxic.
- 3:51The pay is good.
- 3:53But they were working her to death.
- 3:55So what did she do?
- 3:55She ended up giving up a job.
- 3:57She said.
- 3:58Um so like, Upset and I'm always.
- 4:01Sad when I'm going to work.
- 4:03I don't want to go to work, but yet I love what I do.
- 4:06I love my profession.
- 4:07I am passionate and helping people in this specific area.
- 4:10But yet when I go to work.
- 4:11There's so much politics and people are being mean to me.
- 4:14And she doesn't really know what to say.
- 4:16And I sit at a lot with my teachers as well.
- 4:19Lot of teachers are not being supported therefore they are giving, giving, giving, and taking care of a wonderful children out there.
- 4:25But not practicing self care.
- 4:27And many people that has pain as a constant companion will not want to interact with anybody else.
- 4:33But social interaction is part of a basic need.
- 4:35The worst part is that that does don't believe the symptoms.
- 4:39People are sharing with them.
- 4:40Therefore they can either dismiss it or even if they do believe you have pain.
- 4:44They might not know how to help you.
- 4:45Besides giving you a medication.
- 4:47For anxiety referring you to a psychiatrist, they tell you it is normal, live with it.
- 4:52This is part of life.
- 4:54And then what do we do?
- 4:55We go out.
- 4:56We numb it with food.
- 4:57I met with drugs, with alcohol, with sexual pleasures, with people pleasing.
- 5:01When I meet with unhealthy habits next smoking.
- 5:04And drinking.
- 5:06We numb it with busy-ness.
- 5:07That's not a way people in my practice, my patients, and I'm in pain.
- 5:11We're staying busy.
- 5:12They always busy.
- 5:13To have like a, to do list.
- 5:14It has.
- 5:15A hundred things on it.
- 5:16And they always, always, constantly don't know how to relax.
- 5:19So that's another way we numb pain.
- 5:21Or poor or lack of self care.
- 5:23And not taking care of yourself.
- 5:25Ignoring your house is lack of self care.
- 5:29And that's another way we numb pain.
- 5:31So the list is very long.
- 5:32But that will make them feel alone that no one understands the struggles that we face every day.
- 5:38But you can beat any pain, any types of pain or symptoms can be eliminated.
- 5:44The first thing we have to do is to identify the with cause.
- 5:47And my seems difficult since many people have, since so many doctors, I've done lots of blood work, follow all the recommendations.
- 5:53They can all the things.
- 5:54And many have done some quick fixes that pills or diet.
- 5:58Paul Graham's.
- 5:58I mean, there's a lot out there right now in the world to take this pill and you feel good.
- 6:02Do this thing, you feel good but until you identify the root cause whether it's emotional, physical, Psychological pain.
- 6:09Then you'll never be able to get rid of that pain.
- 6:12I've been in practice for so long to understand that we cannot medicate our way out of pain.
- 6:18There's no pills out there.
- 6:19That would get rid of the pain.
- 6:21Yes, we can decrease it.
- 6:22If you have back pain or headaches or whatever pain you experience in physical pain, you can walk into a pharmacy and purchase a pill.
- 6:29As a matter of fact, I have a supplement that I give patients.
- 6:32But sometimes we don't see results because we have not addressed the other tests of pain.
- 6:36The one that we cannot see.
- 6:38The one that is.
- 6:39Sitting in our subconscious mind.
- 6:41That's coming up when we, uh, Not taking care of ourselves.
- 6:45When we are allowing the thoughts that we experience.
- 6:48To run our lives.
- 6:49You have to Willy make sure you identify the with, cause you need to work with a practitioner that speaks with cause language and we'll do whatever necessary to help you find the cost.
- 7:00I was talking to a patient.
- 7:02Again, this is just real life experiences in my practice.
- 7:05She has a lot of emotional pain.
- 7:08Because she never addressed her emotional pain.
- 7:11That paint ended up being a physical pain.
- 7:14She started having stomach issues, like a lot of anxiety, nervous, stomach palpitations.
- 7:20And sometimes she'll just sit alone, like doing nothing.
- 7:23Watching TV.
- 7:24And then she'll still having anxiety.
- 7:26She'll be washing dishes.
- 7:27She'll start having anxiety.
- 7:28So I was telling him like, this is not just physical pain you experience in.
- 7:32There's also some emotional component to this.
- 7:34And she said, no, life is good.
- 7:37Everything is great.
- 7:38And then as we are talking about it, because this is part of my job as a functional medicine practitioner.
- 7:43I'm coaching my patient.
- 7:45I want to know.
- 7:46Because it's easier to just take a pill.
- 7:49But appear again.
- 7:50We'll never give you the result and the outcome you're looking for.
- 7:53You really have to dig deeper.
- 7:55Look under the hood of the car.
- 7:57To really see what is happening.
- 7:59So we talk and I'm like, okay, great.
- 8:01So it's awesome.
- 8:01That life is good.
- 8:02What do you think the spend is coming from?
- 8:04She said, I don't know.
- 8:05I have no idea.
- 8:06I said, well, let's go back.
- 8:07Let's start to the days that you were super duper healthy, then we'll fast-track to today.
- 8:12And then as we talk and we're finding out that she had an abusive relationship.
- 8:16Spiraled into.
- 8:17Years of.
- 8:18Drama.
- 8:19And that's what's coming up now that life is good for her.
- 8:22But she never really addressed it.
- 8:24She did.
- 8:25We see some counseling, some.
- 8:27Therapy, but these sessions were not really effective for her.
- 8:31So I told her, you really have to address that relationship.
- 8:35You really have to heal your soul.
- 8:37Emotions.
- 8:38We have to get that under control because that's, what's happening to you right now.
- 8:41You don't need another pill because I'm not up here can I get with a views of abusive relationship.
- 8:45So that's the pain that I'm talking about, that many of us carry like a purse.
- 8:49We never address it.
- 8:51And then now as we get older, things are easier for us or bad for us.
- 8:56These things are we surfacing coming up and then now you find yourself.
- 9:01Dealing with them.
- 9:01You don't know how, because it's like a pile of years of things that you have to address.
- 9:06We are hurting.
- 9:08No one should ever have to learn to live with pain, any types of pain.
- 9:12There's always a solution.
- 9:14Avoiding it.
- 9:15Can only get you so far.
- 9:16Again, mental illness is on the rise.
- 9:19Everybody has anxiety depression.
- 9:22We all dealing with some types of mental issue.
- 9:24We think it's us, because the blood work normal that does a Tonya you fine, but why is this symptoms coming from and how do we address it?
- 9:32And so, you know, there was cause and eliminate those cause you'll never heal.
- 9:37Okay.
- 9:38So for physical pain, that's easy.
- 9:41You should really purchase a product.
- 9:43That has a few key components like.
- 9:46Willow bark.
- 9:47And boswellia.
- 9:48That will help physical pain.
- 9:49For emotional pain.
- 9:51Sit with yourself and address this emotions.
- 9:54What a lack it or not.
- 9:55And write it down.
- 9:56Journal meditate.
- 9:57Coach yourself.
- 9:59Talk to someone.
- 10:00Yes, you can take some herbs.
- 10:02I have a lot of, herbs that I recommend in my practice.
- 10:05Like adaptogenic herbs is good.
- 10:07But spend time, which ourself and see, okay, I'm hurting.
- 10:13Why is that?
- 10:14What can I do to eliminate that pain?
- 10:17If you find yourself in your life.
- 10:19Not happy.
- 10:20Dealing with a whole bunch of situation.
- 10:22Things keep coming to you because you still have work to do internal work that you have been eliminating ignoring that you have to handle.
- 10:30Myself, because I was also in a relationship that was in serving me.
- 10:34That took years of healing.
- 10:35I was going through the journey, healing my physical body, as well as my emotional.
- 10:40Because at the end of the day, All three things.
- 10:43They are connected.
- 10:44You can not just only focus on the physical aspect.
- 10:47You also have to focus on the spiritual aspect, emotional soul aspect, psychological, whatever you call it.
- 10:52The mind, body and spirit.
- 10:54To really get that life that you are so desiring.
- 10:57And that's the work people don't do.
- 11:00We are so quick to go pick up a pill.
- 11:02Get a prescription but what about the emotional.
- 11:05And we have somatic pain.
- 11:06We have referred pain because of things that has been.
- 11:09Left.
- 11:09Untreated and we are not taking care of.
- 11:12So please do yourself this favor.
- 11:14We only spend an hour a day in sit with yourself and that's the thing.
- 11:18I asked my patients to do all the time.
- 11:20I said, do not run away from yourself.
- 11:22Then that went away from your emotions, your feelings.
- 11:24Because that will never, never.
- 11:26Give you the outcome you're looking for.
- 11:28That's going to add more pain than anything else.
- 11:30I need you to accept who you are.
- 11:32Who you want to become.
- 11:34Deal with the emotions and the thoughts and the feelings that are coming up.
- 11:37Take actions.
- 11:39I guarantee you, you have a better life.
- 11:41That is the secret to live in.
- 11:43The life that we're meant to live on this planet.
- 11:46A life that has less stress.
- 11:48Less challenges, less obstacles.
- 11:51More joy, more happiness, more success.
- 11:54Like worries.
- 11:55We shouldn't be worrying about anything.
- 11:57Because we're not managing our minds, our emotional pain, physical psychological pain.
- 12:02Now the fear and the worries are coming up.
- 12:04So this is a homework.
- 12:06If you have physical pain, there's so many products out there.
- 12:09But remember physical burden alone will not get you far, you have to address the emotional and psychological pain.
- 12:15All right.
- 12:16My friend.
