- 0:02Have you ever wondered how some people seem to go through
- 0:05various situations without a problem, while others go through
- 0:10similar situations and have to undergo tremendous challenges
- 0:14and suffering? If someone escapes a harrowing
- 0:18incident once, we tend to call it luck.
- 0:22But if it happens repeatedly in the course of an individual's
- 0:26life, we have to look for some causative factor that is at
- 0:30work. Similarly, if someone has a bad
- 0:34experience, we tend to call it bad luck.
- 0:38When it happens repeatedly through an individual's life,
- 0:41again we have to look for a causative factor.
- 0:46The Chinese use the term Jos to designate this undefined factor
- 0:51that leads to how individuals come through difficult
- 0:54situations for good or I'll. The concept of past karma is
- 1:00frequently cited as an explanation, although this does
- 1:04not explain much about how an individual comes through an
- 1:07experience that their past impressions may have brought
- 1:10forward to them. It only explains that the
- 1:13circumstances arise, not the response or the outcome of that
- 1:19circumstance, unless we are willing to accept absolute
- 1:23predestination as the cause. A disciple asks. 1 can make it
- 1:30afterwards. Laughter, the mother notes quote
- 1:35no. Afterwards there is yet another
- 1:38moment. One has fallen, one has already
- 1:42hurt, but there is still a moment when one can change
- 1:45things for the better or worse, so that it may be something very
- 1:49fugitive, the bad effects of which will quickly disappear, or
- 1:54something which becomes as serious as grave as it can be.
- 2:00I don't know if you have noticed that there are people who never
- 2:03miss the opportunity of an accident.
- 2:06Every time there is the possibility of an accident, they
- 2:09have it, and never is their accident ordinary.
- 2:13Every time the accident can be serious, it is serious.
- 2:19Well, usually in life one says, oh, he is unlucky, he is
- 2:25unfortunate indeed, he has no luck.
- 2:30But all that is ignorance. It depends absolutely on the
- 2:34working of his consciousness. I could give you examples only I
- 2:39would have to speak about certain people and I don't want
- 2:41to, but I could give you striking examples.
- 2:45And this, this is the sort of thing one sees all the time, all
- 2:50the time here. There are people who could have
- 2:53been killed and who come out of it unscathed.
- 2:56There are others for whom it was not serious, and it becomes
- 3:01serious. But that does not depend on
- 3:04thought, on the working of the ordinary thought.
- 3:08They may apparently have thoughts as good as the others.
- 3:10It is not that. It is the second of the choice,
- 3:14people knowing how to react in just the right way at the right
- 3:18time. I could give you hundreds of
- 3:21examples, it is quite interesting.
- 3:25This depends absolutely on character.
- 3:28Some have such an awakened consciousness, so alert that
- 3:32they are not asleep, they are awake within.
- 3:35Just at the second it is required, they call the help
- 3:39where they invoke the divine force.
- 3:42But just at the second it is needed, so the danger is
- 3:45averted, nothing happens. They could have been killed.
- 3:50They come out of it absolutely unhurt.
- 3:53Others, On the contrary. As soon as they have the least
- 3:57little scratch, something gets dislocated in their being, a
- 4:01sort of fright or pessimism or defeatism in their
- 4:04consciousness, which automatically comes up.
- 4:09It was nothing. They had just twisted their leg
- 4:12and the next minute they break it.
- 4:14There is no reason for it. They could very well have not
- 4:18broken their leg. There are others who climb up to
- 4:23a first floor on a ladder which gives way under them.
- 4:26They could have collapsed. They come out of that without
- 4:30the least hurt. How did they manage it?
- 4:33Apparently this seems wonderful. And still this is how things
- 4:38happen to them. They find themselves lying on
- 4:40the ground in an altogether fine state.
- 4:44Nothing has happened to them. I could give you the names.
- 4:48I am telling you exact facts. So on what does this depend?
- 4:54It depends on whether one is sufficiently awake for the
- 4:57second of the choice to. And note that it is not at all
- 5:02mental. It is not that it is an attitude
- 5:05of the being. It is the consciousness reacting
- 5:08in the right way. It goes quite far, very far.
- 5:13It is formidable, the power of this attitude, but as it is just
- 5:19a fraction of a second, it implies an altogether awakened
- 5:23consciousness which never sleeps, never enters the
- 5:26inconsiant. For one does not know when these
- 5:30things are going to happen. Isn't that so?
- 5:33Hence 1 does not have the time to wake up.
- 5:36One must be awake. I knew someone who indeed should
- 5:41have died and did not die because of this.
- 5:45For this consciousness reacted very fast.
- 5:48He had taken poison by mistake. Instead of taking one dose of a
- 5:53certain medicine, he had taken 12 and it was a poison.
- 5:57He should have died. The heart should have stopped.
- 6:02It was many years ago and he is still quite alive.
- 6:06He reacted in the right way. End Quote Reference Srioro Bindu
