Transcript
- 0:00Well, hey everyone, you're listening to the Curt Landry podcast where we're going to help
- 0:09you discover your kingdom destiny.
- 0:12My name is Darrell and sitting right beside me is Rabbi Curt Landry himself.
- 0:16And in this episode, we're going to be discussing the topic of prayer.
- 0:21We'll also provide techniques to help enhance your prayer time.
- 0:25But before we jump into this episode, Rabbi, have you been playing in the snow?
- 0:30Oklahoma has been super, super cold.
- 0:33Well, listen, it's going great.
- 0:36I'm really excited about this podcast.
- 0:39I got to tell you, I'm hoping and I'm praying that it blesses the people, blesses you.
- 0:46But what it's doing to me, it's actually opening up almost like a portal of refreshing
- 0:55in my heart.
- 0:57Because what's happening is, is I'm going back in past testimonies when you ask questions.
- 1:03And so the faithfulness of God, it's like I get to testify to my own self that the Lord
- 1:09has been very faithful.
- 1:11We're facing some really challenging times that are ahead of us.
- 1:16And so what it's doing for me personally is it's building my faith, my own faith walk
- 1:21and by sharing.
- 1:23You know, Revelation says that they overcame him, Satan, by the blood of the Lamb and the
- 1:27word of their testimony.
- 1:28So I'm hoping and we'll see.
- 1:30In fact, if you want to respond and let us know if you have any questions, but I'd love
- 1:36to dive into any of your questions.
- 1:40But let us know how it's affecting you.
- 1:43For me, it's creating a very positive faith environment and atmosphere in my soul.
- 1:48I love this.
- 1:49Podcast at curtlandry.com.
- 1:51That's where you can submit your questions.
- 1:53Of course, we always ask you to put into the title and write something to the subject line
- 1:59so we know what it's about and what's your thoughts and concerns, questions, anything
- 2:04that you want Rabbi Kurt to discuss on this show.
- 2:08So Rabbi, it's been a little bit since we've launched the podcast on the official day.
- 2:16How do you feel like the success of it?
- 2:19Or you know, I mean, like, are you pleased with it up to this point?
- 2:21Oh, yeah.
- 2:22In fact, I'm more than happy with it.
- 2:24You know, a lot of times, you know, I like to cook and I like to, you know, a big part
- 2:30of meals is presentation.
- 2:34So when you prepare a meal and a table, it's not just like for one of the things I love
- 2:38to do in the holidays is I'll do a whole turkey.
- 2:42And it's great to have the turkey and it's and the way I do it, it's, you know, injected
- 2:46with Irish butter and really good.
- 2:49But the key is, is how does it set up on the plate?
- 2:52So you know, you have the you have the stuffing, you have some vegetables, you know, you have
- 2:58cranberry sauce, you have you have the gravy and all those different things.
- 3:03So depending on how you present it is versus just cutting off a piece of turkey, putting
- 3:10on a paper plate and say here, it's the same meat you're eating.
- 3:14But when the when the meat is surrounded by all these other, you know, say condiments
- 3:21and things, then what happens is it actually enhances the flavor of the meat itself.
- 3:26So I look at this podcast as really, you know, I do live streaming, I, you know, we publish
- 3:34books, we do blogs, we do a lot of different things.
- 3:37But I feel like this podcast is kind of the gravy.
- 3:40What it does is it just adds to what is already good, but it takes everything into a more
- 3:47personal level.
- 3:48And it allows people listen, I'm really big on this is because I always say, show me your
- 3:54friends, and I'll show you your future.
- 3:57But I can also say to this, show me who you're following.
- 4:00And I'll show you your future.
- 4:02Just like I like to say, you know, show me what you're reading, and I can tell how fast
- 4:07you're getting to the future.
- 4:09So you've got to have good networking, you have to have you have to have really good
- 4:14input coming into your life in order to have a higher quality of life.
- 4:18So I think this podcast is the gravy of CLM's media plate of food that we serve to the world.
- 4:27So this podcast, I guess we backtrack and kind of walk people into if they're not aware
- 4:33and you know, they're listening to the Curt Landry podcast, and they want more right like
- 4:38a more shows to listen to something else.
- 4:42Well, the one new man network.
- 4:44So the Curt Landry podcast, you're listening, you can see it.
- 4:49This podcast is on the charisma podcast network.
- 4:52But Rabbi something was really cool in the same breath of transitioning into 2024.
- 4:58We actually launched the one new man network with our first podcast.
- 5:02And that's got Megan Marcelino with generations at the table.
- 5:06What do you think?
- 5:08You know, just from maybe not an excitement level, but from like expectations wise, I
- 5:12mean, like 24 was coming in, we had like a lot of moving different parts.
- 5:16But you know, like where you at with maybe, I guess the one new man network.
- 5:22And then it's funny because Megan's actually got the first show that launched on it.
- 5:26It wasn't actually your show.
- 5:31For me personally, yeah, to have our daughter.
- 5:35I'm all about legacy.
- 5:37I am in the passing the baton stage of my life.
- 5:41It's my biggest joy.
- 5:44So no, I'm overwhelmingly happy with it.
- 5:47You know, today in the studio, she was in on her podcast, she was interviewing her mother.
- 5:53And so one of the things that people need to understand, and she was interviewing her,
- 5:58I believe I wasn't here, but I think she was talking to her about prayer now.
- 6:04And she was giving her testimony.
- 6:06So you know, Christie was saved two and a half years before I got saved.
- 6:10And the Lord told her, don't preach to him.
- 6:12And praise God she didn't because listen, before I got saved, I was so anti Christian.
- 6:17I mean, I was like Saul, I stoned him, I couldn't stand him.
- 6:23I mean, it was terrible.
- 6:25But praise God, Jesus came in.
- 6:26That's probably why Jesus came literally into the bathtub because, you know, I was definitely
- 6:31a Christian hater, not just dislike her.
- 6:34I mean, I used to do imitations and made fun of him.
- 6:37I used to imitate Jan Crouch on TVN.
- 6:41No, I'm serious.
- 6:43I did all this stuff like this.
- 6:45Now, here's the other side of the story.
- 6:46I don't want to drift too much.
- 6:47But the first time I went on TVN, the first thing I had to do is go to the Crouches and
- 6:53repent and I asked him for forgiveness.
- 6:55I said, listen, I made fun of you, your hair and your big furniture.
- 6:59And you've done so much good.
- 7:01And listen, I was crying and they forgave me.
- 7:03They laughed.
- 7:04They loved me.
- 7:05It's not, it's, listen, but that's where I was at.
- 7:08But the thing is, so Megan interviews her mom, right?
- 7:12And to say, well, how do you pray for somebody like that?
- 7:15I mean, I was so arrogant and worldly and I mean, it was terrible.
- 7:20Listen, I can tell you that in my family, I was the least likely to get saved.
- 7:25So she interviews Christy and Christy talks about how she prayed, didn't preach, but prayed
- 7:31me into the kingdom.
- 7:33That podcast is priceless.
- 7:35I can, I didn't hear it, but I do know the story.
- 7:38And so as far as I'm concerned, listen, and I have, I even said this in Israel to the
- 7:42soldiers.
- 7:43I shared this testimony about her.
- 7:45I said, you realize we wouldn't be standing here bringing you all this humanitarian aid
- 7:50and support all these years if it wasn't for this Nana right here, because she's the one
- 7:55that prayed me into the kingdom.
- 7:58And I mean, you could have heard a pin drop.
- 7:59The soldiers are like, oh my gosh.
- 8:01And then when we got done speaking to them and stuff, they all came up and we're hugging
- 8:05her and she was hugging them.
- 8:07And so yeah, it's, it's the podcast.
- 8:10That's a plot.
- 8:11You can't preach that.
- 8:12You can't get on a platform on a Friday night and do that.
- 8:13You need this.
- 8:14And so I'm, I'm thrilled.
- 8:16And the other thing is, of course, listen, what Megan carries in the call, she carries,
- 8:25she carries a lot of what we carry.
- 8:29She was raised in this.
- 8:31When we did Aliyah, the first return in the early nineties, when we were doing the airplanes,
- 8:39the 747s.
- 8:41And so all the apostolic leadership from Europe, from Germany, from Sweden, from Israel, all
- 8:48those people, when that was those prayer meetings, those, those were in our house in Issaquah.
- 8:54Those meetings took place in our home.
- 8:56And so I can still see it.
- 8:58Here's all these apostolic leaders.
- 9:00We're talking about fulfilling Isaiah 60 and there's Megan and she's laying down.
- 9:07She's in the family room where we had the meetings, all the chairs set up.
- 9:10And she's over there, you know, five years old with a coloring book, coloring why we're
- 9:15sitting there discussing spiritual strategies, proclaiming and praying and doing all the
- 9:21stuff we do.
- 9:22And here's this five year old because listen, we only had one child.
- 9:25We didn't have, we couldn't let people really know the meetings going on.
- 9:28So I can't have a babysitter in the house.
- 9:30I can't hear it.
- 9:31So she, she was just raised in it.
- 9:33And the thing that, that, you know, she talks about is that she learned so much just being
- 9:38a fly on the wall.
- 9:40And it's great.
- 9:42And so when we do stuff now, like with our grandkids, I include them.
- 9:48It's one of the things, it's one of the, I love, I love people bringing their children,
- 9:53even if they cry or are noisy into House of David service.
- 9:58First of all, it does not affect me.
- 9:59It doesn't like, Oh, they're crying.
- 10:00Oh, they scream on it.
- 10:02Listen, I'm glad to have them in the house because I understand the power of the impartation.
- 10:08The other thing is people think like children, Oh, they're just little children.
- 10:11They don't understand.
- 10:13Let me tell you something.
- 10:14They understand.
- 10:16Listen, when, when Joseph and, and Bella, but when Joseph was like two, two, three years
- 10:23old, he would, he would quote me from what I said in a service phrases.
- 10:29So they're listening.
- 10:30And, and the thing is, even if they're not listening at Matthew's age, he's only a year
- 10:34and a half, I want them in the service because what's happening is the word is seed is going
- 10:39in their heart.
- 10:40So I, I'm, I'm big on that.
- 10:42And that's a long way to answer your question, but no, I'm thrilled that Megan's podcast
- 10:47is going first.
- 10:48Yep.
- 10:49And you can find that just search.
- 10:50If you're listening on Spotify, you're listening on Apple podcasts, or if you're over on curtlandry.com
- 10:56forward slash podcast, just search generations at the table with Megan Marcelino.
- 11:05Just wherever you listen to podcasts, you can find that one.
- 11:07So rabbi really good story about Ms. Christie and kind of praying you into it for what the
- 11:13topic of this podcast is about.
- 11:16And it's just pretty simple.
- 11:18It's a base level.
- 11:21One thing I love that we do on the show, it's like one or two, maybe three things that people
- 11:25can go activate and physically do to kind of start these different attributes or things
- 11:31that they want to accomplish.
- 11:32You know, we've been talking a lot about goals to grow like tons of it.
- 11:38And this is a big one for everyone.
- 11:40And I think everybody's always looking for different techniques and something just to
- 11:45kind of keep it consistent.
- 11:47But very simply put in the question, how do we pray?
- 11:52Or how to pray?
- 11:53I mean, like, what's the most efficient way that people listening can start or get better
- 11:59at it?
- 12:00Okay.
- 12:01First of all, many of you that follow us, or you've heard the term from me or Robert
- 12:08Henderson or different ones called the courts of heaven.
- 12:11And believe me, when we first started using that terminology, I mean, it flipped people
- 12:17like, oh, the courts of heaven.
- 12:19And how do we do the courts of heaven?
- 12:21You know, it's like, oh, I'm not praying right.
- 12:24I've been praying for 35 years and now I find out I actually didn't pray at all.
- 12:28I wasted like 35 years.
- 12:29What's happening?
- 12:30Yeah.
- 12:31And I'm going, no, you were in the courts of heaven.
- 12:32It's just like a term to help you logistically in the spirit see something different.
- 12:38So listen, the disciples had the same thing.
- 12:40If you go on Matthew chapter six, verse nine, they asked Jesus, they said, listen, how do
- 12:46we pray?
- 12:47So I'm just going to, I'm going to go real quickly just down the list here.
- 12:51Okay.
- 12:52All right.
- 12:53Is that right?
- 12:54Our father in heaven.
- 12:55So your heaven, your father is in the courts of heaven.
- 12:59Okay.
- 13:00So, so, so if you're, if you're saying this prayer, listen, I was raised Catholic and,
- 13:05and I prayed this prayer a lot because when you go into the confessional, you know, uh,
- 13:10we'd always have to, once a week we would go in there and get the confessional and you
- 13:14confess your sins and the way they do it is like, okay, you say five Hail Marys and six
- 13:19our fathers and, and 23 acts of contrition.
- 13:22Well, mine was, you know, I was kind of, uh, an active sinner.
- 13:27So, and, uh, uh, so anyway, I, I know our father who art in heaven.
- 13:32Okay. I've prayed it about 4 billion 742 times before I was 12.
- 13:37But anyway, uh, the point is, is that when you pray this prayer, our father, he is in
- 13:43heaven.
- 13:44Okay.
- 13:45That's the first thing.
- 13:46And the other word I want you to focus on is father, because when you go into the courts
- 13:50of heaven, you go into the mercy courts.
- 13:52He is just judge heavenly father.
- 13:54So father is a relationship.
- 13:56So you're going to your father, you're not going to somebody unjust.
- 14:00And then you're saying yet, even though you're my father, ABBA, my daddy, but hollowed be
- 14:07thy name.
- 14:08So the, in two lines of the prayer, you're saying you're the father.
- 14:12Yes, I'm, I'm your child.
- 14:15I love you.
- 14:16But at the same time, I'm Halloween, which means make holy or in Hebrew, Kaddosh your
- 14:20name.
- 14:21Then I immediately state what I want.
- 14:24I want the result right up.
- 14:26I love this.
- 14:27Your kingdom come.
- 14:29There will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
- 14:33So what is written in heaven, I want done on earth.
- 14:36What earth?
- 14:37Well, you are the temples of the most high God, your body.
- 14:41What is like, I always refer to a good friend of mine, David Dryling went on to be with
- 14:45the Lord.
- 14:46Um, he used to always, uh, when he would teach biblically, he'd always say, you're just
- 14:51dusties because we're created from the dust of the earth.
- 14:55And uh, so what happens is you want what is written in God's kingdom done from heaven
- 15:02and you want it on earth.
- 15:03So right away you're going, if you think about the prayer, you're saying daddy in heaven,
- 15:09I'm, I'm, I'm keeping holy your name.
- 15:11I understand that all power and authority and all creativity of everything in the universe
- 15:15comes from you.
- 15:17But what I need is I need what's written in your books and your desire for me.
- 15:21I needed in my life now.
- 15:24And then you say, give us this day our daily bread.
- 15:26Well, it's not talking about foot, just food.
- 15:30What it is is bread.
- 15:31Give us this day, all substance, body, soul and spirit so that I can be healthy.
- 15:36That's what that bread, that's what that means.
- 15:38So then, so you ask for it.
- 15:40And then what happens is you go into protocol to create an atmosphere so it survives.
- 15:47You know, I used to, when I was younger, I had fish tanks, you know, sometimes I had
- 15:50five and six tanks and so if you think about, you just prayed, right?
- 15:56And what you've done and you go to your Lord in heaven and you say, okay, here's your fish.
- 16:01You know, they put it, they take some water out of the tank that the fish came out of,
- 16:06put it in a plastic bag, put some oxygen in it, seal it.
- 16:10And then here you are walking with the fish.
- 16:12So then they tell you, well, what happens is when you get that fish home, you put the
- 16:15whole plastic bag in the water into the tank, let it adjust so that there's no temperature
- 16:20shock and then you release the fish in it.
- 16:23But what happens is the tank you release it into has to have a healthy pH and it has to
- 16:29be a conducive atmosphere for that fish, whatever one that you brought home to survive, like
- 16:35what other fish are in the tank, what kind of plants, et cetera.
- 16:38Well, it's the same thing with prayer.
- 16:40You go into prayer and you say, okay, Lord, you're my father.
- 16:44I hollow your name.
- 16:45I want what you have in heaven and I want it to operate in my earthly, let's say earth
- 16:51suit and in my life.
- 16:52I want blessings to prosper me.
- 16:55And the Lord says, fine, but when you take the blessing home into your fish tank, you
- 17:00need to first of all, clean the tank.
- 17:02You need to say, and forgive us our debt as we forgive our debtors and lead us not into
- 17:09temptation but deliver us from the evil one for yours is the kingdom power and the glory
- 17:14forever.
- 17:15Amen.
- 17:16So what he's saying is if I give you the fish, don't put it into a heart of sin.
- 17:22If I give you the fish, don't take it into a cold tank.
- 17:25Don't put it into an overly heated tank with algae.
- 17:27No, it's got to have the right pH.
- 17:30If you do, then the fish will actually prosper and multiply.
- 17:33Same thing with, same thing with prayer.
- 17:36Whatever you pray, you have to understand, forgive debt.
- 17:39So it's basically forgive yourself, forgive God, forgive others.
- 17:43Don't allow offense, sin and debt into your tank around your seed of your sin.
- 17:47And then your sin will, your, your, sorry, your prayer requests will prosper.
- 17:52That's about as basic as I can give it to you.
- 17:55And we'll be right back.
- 17:57It's a new year and a new you.

- 20:37Hey, one more thing.
- 20:40After this episode, I would love for you to go and download and listen to another podcast
- 20:45on the One New Man Network and that's called Generations at the Table with Megan Marcelino.
- 20:51This show is perfect for discovering how to grow your family and faith by knowing your
- 20:56Jewish roots.
- 20:58Megan breaks down all of her knowledge on how to unlock your family's kingdom destiny
- 21:03by honoring Yeshua.
- 21:05You can find her show on the One New Man Network on your favorite podcast app.
- 21:11All right, now back to the show.
- 21:15Okay, so all right, so you just broke it down basic.
- 21:20I think that was pretty deep.
- 21:22All right.
- 21:23Now, see, that's the problem for me that was like, well, this is how it works.
- 21:26I know, I know.
- 21:27And like, I think that's why this podcast is going to add some different levels of value
- 21:31because there's going to be a lot of people that are listening that they're tracking with
- 21:35you.
- 21:36Okay?
- 21:37I'm thinking about the people that maybe just became Christians and they're just now trying
- 21:42to get comfortable doing this thing called praying, right?
- 21:47So if you're talking to someone that is a, you know, think either first month or like
- 21:52first year believer and like you're trying to help them how to figure this out, what
- 21:58instruction would you actually give them?
- 22:01Okay, so that they know that I can relate.
- 22:04So I shared with you about with the Aliyah, okay?
- 22:06I got saved in 89.
- 22:07This was like a 90.
- 22:10And the leaders that are there are serious, the highest level apostolic leaders in the
- 22:18world at this time.
- 22:20Okay?
- 22:21And they're in my house and I'm saved like six months.
- 22:26And you know, and I can remember the first time they came in the house, they're all there.
- 22:33They all have their different accents.
- 22:34One's German, one's Swedish, one's this.
- 22:36Everyone said, I wonder who it is.
- 22:37Listen, I'm not going to tell you.
- 22:38So just get over it.
- 22:39I'm just saying, just everyone would know who they are.
- 22:43So please don't send those questions to podcasts at CurlEdger.com.
- 22:47No, it doesn't matter.
- 22:49The point is you have all these like, you know, generals for real in the Lord.
- 22:55They've written tons of books and stuff.
- 22:57And then here's this idiot that's been saved six months, you know, that's coming out of
- 23:01the world, which is me.
- 23:04And I'm answering your question to set it up because then what they say is they say
- 23:08to me, well, Kurt, this is your home.
- 23:14You will start us off in prayer.
- 23:16And I'm going like, okay, I'll pray in just a minute after I throw up.
- 23:23You know, it's like, are you kidding me?
- 23:25I'm here with like all these people that have written books on spiritual warfare and prayer
- 23:31and all this, and they're wanting me to pray.
- 23:34And the other thing, here's the thing is I'm brand new to the Lord.
- 23:36I don't know how to pray.
- 23:38I don't even know.
- 23:40But it didn't matter because what was happening is God made me the gatekeeper in that house.
- 23:45It was my home.
- 23:46So they wanted me to bless them.
- 23:48And that's what I did.
- 23:50So here's the thing about prayer.
- 23:52If you've never prayed before, it's basic.
- 23:55Okay, let's say you need something.
- 23:57Let's say you're sick, okay?
- 23:59And you need to get healing, okay?
- 24:01And you're brand new to the Lord.
- 24:03All you have to do is go, Father God, in Jesus' name, I'm sick.
- 24:12And I know you know that, but I really need a touch.
- 24:17What you're doing, now you're asking, I need you to heal me.
- 24:20And it'd be great if you quoted, buy a stripe, you're healed, but you don't have to even
- 24:23do that.
- 24:24All you have to do is say, listen, I need a touch.
- 24:28I'm sick.
- 24:29I need your help.
- 24:30Would you please heal and touch my body in Jesus' name?
- 24:34That's it.
- 24:35That's all you have to do.
- 24:36Because what happens is the Lord is weighing out the heart.
- 24:39The Lord is also measuring each word relationally, no different than the way I interact with
- 24:46Matthew at a year and a half, even the way I interact with the eight-year-old with Bella.
- 24:52The conversations are very different.
- 24:57And if I'm talking to you, the conversations are different.
- 25:00So give yourself some grace when you pray.
- 25:03If I could say one thing, it's conversation.
- 25:08First of all, He already knows what you need.
- 25:09He knows what you want.
- 25:10He knows everything.
- 25:11He's omnipotent.
- 25:12That's what that means.
- 25:14But the key is, don't try to imitate other people's prayer.
- 25:22And if you go into real big prayer meetings, you'll see it.
- 25:26You'll see the culture.
- 25:27You've been around it.
- 25:28And if you're in one culture, and listen, I so want to do my imitation of one, but then
- 25:34that would be disrespectful.
- 25:35But it's very funny.
- 25:36You're going to miss out on it.
- 25:37I won't do it.
- 25:39But what happens is every culture has their prayer, the way they pray.
- 25:45It's like, oh, God.
- 25:46You're doing it.
- 25:47You can just keep going.
- 25:48No, no, I don't want to keep going.
- 25:49I don't want to keep going.
- 25:50Keep going.
- 25:51You're starting.
- 25:52No.
- 25:53It's like, listen, you don't.
- 25:54It's not like you have to have the holy voice, and then God goes, oh, my gosh, it's the holy
- 26:01voice.
- 26:02I better answer this one.
- 26:04That's not how this works.
- 26:06So you just really just need to talk to them.
- 26:08You just need...
- 26:11I'll tell you when the first time I got my prayer answered.
- 26:15You want me to share that?
- 26:16Yeah.
- 26:17First prayer ever I know answered.
- 26:19Okay.
- 26:20I was in fifth grade.
- 26:22I went to St. Jerome's Catholic Church, very strict.
- 26:29Did you go to Catholic boy school too?
- 26:31No, no, it was boys and girls.
- 26:34But it was in Los Angeles, and I was blessed.
- 26:36It was one of the highest curriculum schools in 904.5.
- 26:40It's actually in Los Angeles.
- 26:43And literally, everybody that...
- 26:46People sent their kids there.
- 26:48Even non-Catholics went.
- 26:49It was very high tuition at the time, and it's even worse now.
- 26:53But anyway, it was a very good school, but it was run by the priest and the nuns, and
- 26:59it was very strict.
- 27:00I mean, the whole thing, the paddling, the rulers on the knuckles, the whole thing.
- 27:04Listen, I'm thankful for it now, but when I was going through it, it was kind of difficult.
- 27:09But what my father that raised me, Ray Landry, my dad, what he did was he said, listen, you
- 27:14get a report card and you're gonna have a grade anywhere from an A plus down to an F,
- 27:20and then off to the side, it had effort.
- 27:23And the way Ray did it, I wouldn't do it this way, but what he did was, listen, the effort
- 27:30side of it is your score on the effort.
- 27:33If you apply yourself and you get a D, I don't care.
- 27:37But if you don't apply yourself and you even get a B and you should have got an A, you're
- 27:43gonna get it.
- 27:47And my parents were strict as well.
- 27:52So this was going down.
- 27:53I was in fifth grade and I got my first F, and it was F-U-U.
- 28:01So it was unsatisfactory.
- 28:02Okay.
- 28:03Yeah.
- 28:04And we're not going there.
- 28:09So I got, so that was it.
- 28:12So anyway, I come home from school, right?
- 28:14School gets out at three o'clock.
- 28:15By the time I walk home, I'm at my house.
- 28:17I go into my bedroom, I lay on the bed.
- 28:19Okay, here we go.
- 28:21I can't help it.
- 28:23I didn't make it.
- 28:24I'm just gonna reset here for a second.
- 28:25Listen, I wasn't the one that did the report card.
- 28:28That's what they gave you.
- 28:30So anyway, it was-
- 28:31I'm just gonna move my mic.
- 28:33Just keep going.
- 28:34Yeah, just keep moving.
- 28:35You see.
- 28:36So here's the key.
- 28:37I know I'm gonna get it.
- 28:40I mean, I'm getting the belt.
- 28:42I mean, I've lost it, right?
- 28:43Not only did I fail at this subject, I don't even remember what it was.
- 28:47Doesn't matter.
- 28:48But I was unsatisfactory.
- 28:49Okay.
- 28:50And so I didn't even put effort to it.
- 28:53So I knew I was gonna get it.
- 28:55So anyway, so I get home about 3.30.
- 28:58I literally am laying on the bed in my room.
- 29:00I can see myself, and I'm travailing crying.
- 29:02I'm just crying.
- 29:04And I'm crying out to God.
- 29:05Listen, I'm not saved, but I'm crying out to God.
- 29:08Don't let him kill me.
- 29:10I'm screaming it out.
- 29:12So anyway, well, my dad always got home at five o'clock.
- 29:16That was the promise.
- 29:17Five o'clock every day was it.
- 29:19And so of course he comes home and my mom's there.
- 29:23And she says, well, Curtis got his report card.
- 29:26Everyone knows it's report card day.
- 29:27You're coming home.
- 29:28Of course, there's my sister.
- 29:29She gets her report card.
- 29:30She was all A's.
- 29:33Just extraordinary.
- 29:34So she's over there just like that.
- 29:36And here's poor Curtis with the first F in the family.
- 29:40And so now here we go.
- 29:41So my dad came in, and I'm in there, and I'm a wreck.
- 29:46I've been crying.
- 29:50And I cried out to God and prayed.
- 29:51He comes in.
- 29:52He said, well, Curtis, your mom told me what happened, that you got an F and it was unsatisfactory,
- 30:00no effort.
- 30:01And he says, and you know, I told you about the F. You know our agreement.
- 30:06But he says, I'm not going to spank you.
- 30:11And he says, the reason I'm not going to spank you is because it's quite apparent by looking
- 30:15at you that you're not ever going to do this again.
- 30:21So what you've been through this afternoon, I think is enough.
- 30:24And what he said, he goes, and the main thing that I want you to do is I want you to understand
- 30:29that when I ask you to do something that you do it, and you don't have to do it because
- 30:34of a spanking, I think by what you've done that you're sorry, and it won't happen again.
- 30:39And I said, yes, sir, it won't happen again.
- 30:41So that was my very first prayer that was answered.
- 30:44And I also want to tell you, it never happened again.
- 30:46So that was my little experiment.
- 30:49I was thinking about asking.
- 30:50Yeah, no, it didn't happen again.
- 30:55But my point is that my prayer was answered from my Heavenly Father and my Earthly Father,
- 31:00Master Marine Sergeant, two landings, Guadalcanal, Golden Gull Boxer.
- 31:04This is a tough guy.
- 31:10He was very tender with that moment.
- 31:14And I'll share one other.
- 31:17Can I share another testimony about my dad?
- 31:19And this is with prayer.
- 31:22So years later, my dad, he has a heart attack.
- 31:29And we lived in Seattle.
- 31:30We lived in Oregon.
- 31:32And so they call us, your dad's in the hospital, we drive down.
- 31:37And so we come, Megan's little, we've got the big balloon, get well and all this stuff.
- 31:43We come in and Christy's there and Ray's in there.
- 31:49And at that time, he's with his, this would be his second wife because my mother died.
- 31:54And so they're in there.
- 31:56And he's in there, he says, listen, he asked everybody, they visited for about five or
- 32:0310 minutes, that was it.
- 32:05And he asked all the girls, he said, would you guys leave?
- 32:07He said, I just need to spend a little bit of time with Curtis, with my son.
- 32:13Can I do that?
- 32:14He says, yeah.
- 32:15And everyone said, yeah.
- 32:16And it was kind of weird.
- 32:17He's not like that.
- 32:18It was weird.
- 32:19So anyway, I'm sitting there and our relationship is not real close.
- 32:25He never told me he loved me, even to the day he died.
- 32:28But because of coming out of World War II and who he was, that culture didn't do that.
- 32:33But I knew he loved me.
- 32:34I knew he loved me because of the way his actions.
- 32:37So meanwhile, he's not saved at this time.
- 32:39He got saved later.
- 32:41But I'm a Jesus freak and he's around me and he's always hearing about, well, Curtis went
- 32:49and prayed for this one and there was a miracle.
- 32:52At the time, his fiancees had a granddaughter that was born and she was in Children's Hospital
- 32:59in Portland, Oregon, and she was going to die.
- 33:03And they asked us to come down and we took her and she's hooked up to all these machines
- 33:09and stuff.
- 33:10And I still asked, I asked, I said, can I hold her?
- 33:12And everyone was going, I'm not sure about that.
- 33:15And they said, OK, anyway, they let me hold her.
- 33:17I hold her and I prayed for and the Lord healed her.
- 33:19So he knows this.
- 33:20He knows that I'm carrying this gift.
- 33:22So here's this wacko son that was this.
- 33:24And now he's the Jesus freak with the healing anointing.
- 33:29And so he got everybody out and he said to me, he said, listen, he goes, he goes, I'm
- 33:35afraid to die.
- 33:37I don't want to die.
- 33:40And he says, and I'm so tired and I need to sleep.
- 33:43And he says, and you have so much faith.
- 33:46And he says, you know, he says, Curtis, I don't know where you get it.
- 33:51He says, you didn't get it from me.
- 33:53I mean, we weren't we weren't religious, even though I went to Catholic school.
- 33:56We were not a religious family.
- 33:59And he says, I don't know where you get it.
- 34:01He says, you didn't get it for me.
- 34:02And I said, no, yes, I did get it from you.
- 34:05He said, no, he says, I'm not religious.
- 34:08And I said, when you said you were going to bless me, you always bless me.
- 34:16When you said we're getting a new swing set, we got the swing set.
- 34:19When you said we're putting in a swimming pool, you put in the swimming pool.
- 34:23When you said that we're going to Disneyland, we went to Disneyland.
- 34:27When you said you would spank me if I did this, you spank me.
- 34:30So what happens is you were absolutely consistent.
- 34:33And I realize now that as a Christian, having that consistency in the parenting was crucial
- 34:39when I made the transition from trying to trust in the flesh to trusting in the Spirit,
- 34:44somebody I can't see.
- 34:45So I said, really, the reason I can trust Heavenly Father, my God, through Jesus, is
- 34:50because of your consistency, it laid a good foundation for me to trust in my Father.
- 34:58And he just said, wow.
- 35:01He said, listen, I'm so tired, I need to sleep.
- 35:04He said, and he's not lying.
- 35:05Man, this is a man's man, you know.
- 35:08And he took his bear claw-sized hand, you know.
- 35:12This is a square jaw, thick neck Marine.
- 35:15Put his hand in my hand.
- 35:16And he said, would you hold my hand so I could go to sleep?
- 35:19Because he says, if I know you're here, I'll be able to sleep.
- 35:28So I'm holding his hand.
- 35:30He goes to sleep.
- 35:33And I didn't want to scare him, but I told the Lord, I said, Father God.
- 35:39So this is a prayer thing.
- 35:41This is my prayer.
- 35:42Father God, I need a favor.
- 35:45I need a favor.
- 35:51This man wasn't responsible for me.
- 35:55He came into an orphanage, took responsibility, and raised me.
- 36:01Didn't have to do it.
- 36:04He protected, took care of me, fed me, housed me.
- 36:08He did everything for me.
- 36:10And now he needs not only to sleep, but I said, would you heal him?
- 36:15Because I said, Father, and this is the prayer.
- 36:18If you heal him, he'll know you're real and he'll come to you and then we'll be in heaven
- 36:23together when he does die.
- 36:26That was my prayer, in Jesus' name.
- 36:29So he falls asleep.
- 36:30I put his hand back over on his tummy and I slip out of the room.
- 36:35That night, he has another heart attack.
- 36:39And the heart attack he has is in the medical records.
- 36:41It's called a mother nature bypass.
- 36:44So what happens is the heart attack actually blast open where the blockage was.
- 36:50The next day he left the hospital, he was totally healed.
- 36:57That's pretty wild.
- 37:00And then he got saved.
- 37:03And he was saved for probably about six or seven years.
- 37:06And then the favorite thing that he liked to do was to go to Denny's.
- 37:10He was a very simple man.
- 37:14He used to always say to me, Curtis, I don't get it because I'm a foodie.
- 37:18He said, Curtis, you love to eat and I eat to live.
- 37:23But his favorite meal was to go to Denny's and get a Grand Slam breakfast.
- 37:28So one morning he went to breakfast and eaten at Denny's and was having his favorite meal
- 37:34at his favorite Denny's right there near his house in Salem, Oregon.
- 37:37And he quietly passed away right there in the restaurant.
- 37:40And I had the honor and the privilege of doing his funeral and being able to tell the family
- 37:48that he was saved.
- 37:49His name was in the book and we'll all see him again.
- 37:54So the whole story of it was a blessing because the Lord told me, he said years ago to Christy
- 38:01and I, when we went into full-time ministry doing all the crazy stuff with Israel, which
- 38:05believe me, I can't tell you the pressure of it.
- 38:10But did you ever tell him about that moment in that prayer in Oregon at the hospital?
- 38:17Did I ever talk to him about it?
- 38:19No.
- 38:20No, I didn't.
- 38:21He knew.
- 38:24He was a very, very private man and a very, very humble man.
- 38:30He was really a war hero with what he did in World War II.
- 38:37But he was one of the ones that never talked about it.
- 38:40So he talked about it toward the end of his life, what happened in the war, and that helped
- 38:45me to understand him a little better.
- 38:47But here's the key is that all this stuff about prayer, you just need to ask the Lord.
- 38:54So I'm in fifth grade, I cry out to God, he answers my prayer.
- 38:59I don't know what age I was when I prayed with my dad.
- 39:02It was probably 50-ish, 40, 50, and he healed them.
- 39:09And I could go through and I prayed for his fiance's granddaughter.
- 39:18And it was really different because the Lord said, I want you to hold her and take her
- 39:22out of the room you're in and just pray for her.
- 39:26And I did.
- 39:27And the Lord miraculously healed her.
- 39:28So all these things are people know this in the family.
- 39:32So what happened is when Christi and I said, we're going to make a commitment to Holy
- 39:38Follow after you and do this whole Israel thing.
- 39:41Now, this is in the 90s.
- 39:42This is, listen, it's not like now where it's kind of fashionable to stand with Israel.
- 39:46I mean, we were called everything under the sun.
- 39:49But the Lord said, if you take care of my work, I'll take care of all of yours.
- 39:55Meaning that with Christi's prayer, the first person that got saved was me.
- 39:59And our whole family is not saved.
- 40:01And our whole family also is self-employed, entrepreneurial people, most of them pretty
- 40:05well off, but yet good people, good, nice people.
- 40:09And those are the hardest people to lead to the Lord because Christi's dad is like, okay,
- 40:14I'm charitable.
- 40:15I take care of other people.
- 40:16I'm nice.
- 40:17That should be good enough.
- 40:18If God doesn't want a nice person, then he doesn't want me.
- 40:21I'll just go to hell, that kind of crazy talk.
- 40:24In our family, Christi's mom and dad, my adoptive and biological parents all came to the Lord.
- 40:34All the cousins, everyone.
- 40:38And now Christi and I are the, we're the patriarchs now.
- 40:41We're the last here, but the Lord saved everyone.
- 40:45And so I really think it was because of Christi's prayer.
- 40:49And I think our obedience to answer the call.
- 40:52And so sometimes you just have to pray, Lord, give me strength that as I start to walk out
- 40:58in the Lord, you know, and everybody's family.
- 41:02When you get radically saved, I mean, where you and Morgan came from out of that background
- 41:07into this, you've got to be able to have the strength to trust that they're going to misunderstand.
- 41:15Where I get my strength for the compassion for it is I remember the unsaved Kurt who
- 41:20was like Saul making fun of the Jan Crouches and the stuff.
- 41:28And of course, I'm not that now.
- 41:30So what happens is the people who come against you, that's why the scripture says in Romans,
- 41:35it says, bless those who curse you because you used to curse people.
- 41:42So give them patience before they wake up and pray for that patience so that they can
- 41:50until they come into the light.
- 41:53Man, that's good stuff, Rabbi.

- 42:29Rabbi, as we get ready to wrap up this episode, one big thing I really picked away that you
- 42:38gave me this super deep complex courts of heaven and you gave it to me strong and then
- 42:44you gave it to me super simple for other people that are definitely going to be in different
- 42:50walks of their faith that need practical and relational experience.
- 42:54But I think the big thing that I took away from it is that the simplicity of prayer is
- 43:00a relational thing.
- 43:02It's a relationship and it's much like salvation.
- 43:06I just kept hearing notes of relationship, relational.
- 43:12Because even when you're little and you're trying to get out of, I guess getting your
- 43:18butt whooped and really getting in trouble, and then your progression as you got older,
- 43:24and then you met Miss Christy and then you're at the hospital in Oregon and now you're sitting
- 43:30here.
- 43:31It's a progression of the relational side, the relationship with the Father that I'm
- 43:37really starting to hear notes of.
- 43:40Listen, it's everything is relationship.
- 43:46So at CLM, we have a lot of employees.
- 43:52And to be honest with you, I'm not one of these people like they say, well, I have all
- 43:56these kids and I love them all the same.
- 44:00You may love your children all the same, but you interact with all of them based, if you're
- 44:03really attentive, you're going to interact with them in different personality.
- 44:07So with all the employees here, I interact with each one into where I think will be most
- 44:12effective to help them understand what I'm trying to communicate.
- 44:15So I don't treat everybody.
- 44:16It's not like the same thing.
- 44:17It's not cookie cut.
- 44:19And if I can share with people in prayer, don't become a chameleon or a robot to the
- 44:28culture of how you pray.
- 44:31Just be real with God.
- 44:33You have to be.
- 44:35And people listen, and the other thing is, if you're a person who prays a lot and God
- 44:41answers the prayer, they're going to come to you.
- 44:43I'll close with this one testimony.
- 44:46So Paul and I, my son-in-law, we go to Israel and we're working on some business stuff we
- 44:53do there.
- 44:54So we go into a meeting and there's high level Knesset members and the ones we're meeting
- 45:02with are Orthodox.
- 45:03So these are Orthodox Jewish guys, you know, the curl, the black suit, the big hats, the
- 45:08whole thing.
- 45:09And one of them couldn't come to the meeting because he had had a bypass surgery, a heart
- 45:14attack and triple bypass.
- 45:18And so I said, okay, well, it's no big deal.
- 45:19I said, listen, we can meet with them the next time we come.
- 45:22What we were doing was a preliminary step and it was going to take three trips anyway.
- 45:26So this was the first trip.
- 45:28And the other Orthodox guy said, oh no, he said, Rabbi, this other Rabbi, he says he
- 45:33has to meet with you.
- 45:35And I said, no, we can do it.
- 45:36Listen, he just had a bypass three days ago.
- 45:38He said, no, he wants to meet with you.
- 45:40I said, no, please, please.
- 45:42He said to me, he said, Rabbi, call me Rabbi.
- 45:46He said, he wants you to pray for him.
- 45:49This is an Orthodox Rabbi and knows that I'm the Jesus guy.
- 45:54And I said, okay.
- 45:55So we went to a hotel where we know the manager and, you know, they have those private suites
- 46:00on the upstairs.
- 46:05And what they did is they sent security in there and blocked that off.
- 46:08And this Knesset Rabbi comes in and he still got the little stickers from, you know, where
- 46:16they do all the heart monitoring and stuff.
- 46:19So he came out from his house there and he doesn't speak any English, total Hebrew.
- 46:26I have never met him before, but I had prayed for a friend of his that had cancer, was supposed
- 46:31to die and the Lord healed him.
- 46:33And so he said, he evidently said to him, he says, listen, we're meeting with Paul and
- 46:37Kurt.
- 46:38He said, make sure you have Kurt pray for you.
- 46:39And he didn't come.
- 46:40So anyway, I'm just saying, so I go in and I had to explain to him, I said, listen, I'm
- 46:43not a healer.
- 46:44Okay.
- 46:45It's not me.
- 46:46Okay.
- 46:47I said, I have a gift, but the gift is from the Lord, from Yeshua.
- 46:49So I said, when I pray, I have to pray for you and shoe his name because it's not me.
- 46:52I mean, I'm not like the gift doesn't belong to me.
- 46:55It flows through me.
- 46:56He says, all right.
- 46:57So he's good with that.
- 46:58And they translate or translates and Paul speaks Hebrew and he's translating to them.
- 47:02And I'll never forget it.
- 47:03Paul, I'll tell you, he unbuttons his shirt.
- 47:05This is an Orthodox Jewish guy.
- 47:07He's got the stickers on there and he wants me to put my hand in on his heart.
- 47:11And I do.
- 47:12And man, I felt the heat coming through my hand and I prayed for a Lord, you heal him
- 47:16in Yeshua's name because he was afraid.
- 47:19And I prayed for him the peace of God, the shalom comes and the Lord healed.
- 47:22So there you go.
- 47:25So and that's why you've been with us this morning.
- 47:27People say, why do you?
- 47:28It's not just the humanitarian aid.
- 47:30They sense that this person prays and gets results.
- 47:34And if I could say anything, the results come.
- 47:37It's not about me.
- 47:38I'm not trying to exalt my ministry.
- 47:40Listen, it's just a calling.
- 47:41But my whole walk with the Lord has been fueled by relationship.
- 47:45It's just relationship.
- 47:46And the other thing is I gave up years ago trying to explain my relationship with Jesus
- 47:52and the Lord to people because it's personal.
- 47:55It would be, I don't think as married couples, I don't think you should ever discuss intimacy
- 48:02with anyone.
- 48:03It's between you and your spouse.
- 48:05It's holy.
- 48:06It's a gift.
- 48:07I don't think you should ever talk about it, even with girls, with girls, guys, it should
- 48:11be off.
- 48:12It should be off limits.
- 48:13And I think some of the stuff that you talk to God about should be off limits as well.
- 48:17I think it has to remain special.
- 48:19And then it does.
- 48:20So when you get into that situation, whether you're in fifth grade and you don't want to
- 48:24get a whooping or you need somebody to be healed, you need to be able to go in there
- 48:29and like I said and say, Lord, I need a favor.
- 48:35And He gave it to me.
- 48:36That's good stuff.
- 48:39Wow.
