Transcript
- 0:05Speaker 1: Good morning. I hope you're ready to hear from God
- 0:09Speaker 1: because that's what we do at this time each weekday morning.
- 0:12Speaker 1: We open the Bible and just say, God, what do
- 0:15Speaker 1: you have to say to us? Not just theological truth,
- 0:19Speaker 1: but what do you have to say to us that
- 0:22Speaker 1: impacts our lives, that will matter to me today?
- 0:27Speaker 1: As we start our day, the best way we can
- 0:29Speaker 1: start it is coming to God. Well, all this week
- 0:33Speaker 1: we're talking about the five most important things in life,
- 0:39Speaker 1: and we're listening to what God has to say to us.
- 0:41Speaker 1: On Monday we saw that our personal relationship with God
- 0:46Speaker 1: is the most important thing in life. Number 2, on
- 0:50Speaker 1: Tuesday we saw that the word of God.
- 0:53Speaker 1: It is so important in our lives. Number 3, yesterday
- 0:58Speaker 1: we saw that number 3 is your family is so important.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Part of God's design for us from the beginning, that
- 1:07Speaker 1: your family is one of the top things in your life.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Number 4.
- 1:14Speaker 1: The family of believers, your family of fellow Christians, the
- 1:21Speaker 1: body of Christ as the Bible describes it, the church.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Uh, not just your local church, but the believers that
- 1:28Speaker 1: are in your life. That of course may include people
- 1:31Speaker 1: in your own family as well, but well beyond that,
- 1:34Speaker 1: people who become as close as a brother or sister,
- 1:37Speaker 1: people who have such an impact on your life, and
- 1:40Speaker 1: you have an impact on their lives. You may not
- 1:43Speaker 1: see yourself that way, but the fact is, the people
- 1:46Speaker 1: in your life that you're close to, uh, that you
- 1:49Speaker 1: share with, you have an impact on them.
- 1:52Speaker 1: And we always need to be thinking, how does God
- 1:55Speaker 1: want to use me in the lives of my fellow believers.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Let me read you what the apostle Paul wrote in
- 2:03Speaker 1: Romans chapter 12, starting in verse 4. He says, For
- 2:08Speaker 1: as in one physical body we have many members, and
- 2:12Speaker 1: the members do not all have the same function, so we,
- 2:16Speaker 1: though many, are one body in Christ.
- 2:20Speaker 1: And individually members one of another having gifts that differ
- 2:26Speaker 1: according to the grace of God given to us, let
- 2:28Speaker 1: us use them if prophecy in proportion to our faith,
- 2:33Speaker 1: if service in our serving, the one who teaches in
- 2:37Speaker 1: His teaching, the one who exhorts in his exhortation, the
- 2:41Speaker 1: one who contributes in generosity, the one who leads with zeal.
- 2:47Speaker 1: The one who does acts of mercy with cheerfulness, let
- 2:51Speaker 1: love be genuine. Abhor what is evil and hold fast
- 2:58Speaker 1: to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Outdo one another in showing honour.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Do not be slothful in zeal but fervent in spirit.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope. Be patient in tribulation.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the
- 3:24Speaker 1: saints and seek to show hospitality.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Bless those who persecute you. Bless and do not curse them.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Rejoice with those who rejoice. Weep with those who weep.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty,
- 3:42Speaker 1: but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your
- 3:46Speaker 1: own sight. And he goes on.
- 3:49Speaker 1: But you see this beautiful picture here of the role
- 3:53Speaker 1: we have in one another's lives, and as you read
- 3:56Speaker 1: through the New Testament about what the church and the
- 3:59Speaker 1: relationship between Christians is to be like, you see the
- 4:03Speaker 1: Bible again and again using this term one another, one another,
- 4:07Speaker 1: one another, love one.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Another, pray for one another, build one another up, edify
- 4:14Speaker 1: one another, on and on and on. It goes so
- 4:18Speaker 1: many times, and you will find in your life as
- 4:22Speaker 1: you start to pay attention to the role God has
- 4:26Speaker 1: for other Christians, other believers in your life.
- 4:30Speaker 1: That God also wants to use you in this way,
- 4:32Speaker 1: and there's this mutual relationship of encouraging one another, strengthening
- 4:37Speaker 1: one another, praying for one another as you go beyond
- 4:41Speaker 1: just chatting in life and start to think, how can
- 4:45Speaker 1: I help and build up my fellow Christian's spiritual walk
- 4:50Speaker 1: with God, you will find God using you and making
- 4:55Speaker 1: you a very important person in those people's lives.
- 4:59Speaker 1: I'm John North.
