- 0:16Speaker 1: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. And I had a doctor's appointment
- 0:22Speaker 1: eleven fifteen and I'm here.
- 0:23Speaker 4: Obviously you did a lot of lying if they let
- 0:25Speaker 4: you out.
- 0:25Speaker 1: No, No, I had like I've had like ringing in
- 0:27Speaker 1: my ear for the last couple of years. Yeah, no,
- 0:30Speaker 1: and I blame Paul. And it's gotten the fast couple
- 0:33Speaker 1: of years. Oh yeah, and it's gotten worse.
- 0:34Speaker 4: Frity chance if it started in nineteen ninety nine.
- 0:37Speaker 1: No, I'm fine, okay that, I'm okay to you know,
- 0:39Speaker 1: whoever wants to jump in, give us your thoughts.
- 0:41Speaker 5: I'm ready to overreact.
- 0:42Speaker 1: All right, let's let's overreact.
- 0:43Speaker 6: I know you love to Let's not be afraid.
- 0:45Speaker 5: First. First, I could do better than Margaret Jackson.
- 0:50Speaker 1: What would you think about on Thursday night games only
- 0:53Speaker 1: twelve minute?
- 0:53Speaker 4: Quarter bred always wants to split the app shorten it up,
- 0:56Speaker 4: just you know, get rid of the games at that point.
- 0:59Speaker 6: You like guys glasses.
- 1:00Speaker 4: Well, Claire, you know I do have my readers back
- 1:02Speaker 4: in my office.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Monkey it's like he had a good bounce and a step.
- 1:10Speaker 6: Yeah, and she's engaged, and I mean none of the
- 1:12Speaker 6: stuff from last year. But I wrote Paul wrote it too,
- 1:14Speaker 6: so you know it's true. Yeah, you only right true things.
- 1:20Speaker 4: Seems like a bit of a shot there.
- 1:22Speaker 1: This is Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:24Speaker 7: Fueled by Duncan.
- 1:27Speaker 1: All Right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday here
- 1:32Speaker 1: at Gillette Stadium.
- 1:33Speaker 4: What day is it?
- 1:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it's Tuesday gloom and we had an
- 1:39Speaker 1: ot A with access today, but it was a scale
- 1:42Speaker 1: down O t A. But I'm I trust that you
- 1:45Speaker 1: guys have some good observations. It's Deuce, it's Evan, it's Paul, myself,
- 1:50Speaker 1: faith in the booth, a lot of trust. We have
- 1:52Speaker 1: faith that the show will happen.
- 1:54Speaker 6: You gotta have faith.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Yeah. So yeah, So we had Belichick press conference and
- 1:59Speaker 1: then we had Ota. What are your opening thoughts on
- 2:03Speaker 1: what you saw today?
- 2:04Speaker 6: Well, I said to Paul right before as we were
- 2:06Speaker 6: sitting down for the press conference, and where we're going
- 2:07Speaker 6: to get access on Friday too, I said, one of
- 2:09Speaker 6: these practices is going to be a nothing. And this
- 2:12Speaker 6: wasn't quite a nothing, Like there was a little bit.
- 2:14Speaker 6: It wasn't a little.
- 2:15Speaker 1: More than I thought.
- 2:16Speaker 6: All right, maybe it was a little nothing, but not
- 2:18Speaker 6: not a lot. Being mean, Bill said, it's going to
- 2:20Speaker 6: be a dial back day. We did a lot yesterday,
- 2:21Speaker 6: We ran a lot of plays. We feel like we
- 2:23Speaker 6: got a lot of good work in after the long weekend,
- 2:25Speaker 6: and you know, today we're just gonna go slow. There
- 2:27Speaker 6: was one time we heard him, you know, saying walk through,
- 2:29Speaker 6: you know, speed so but there were still some fireworks
- 2:32Speaker 6: and uh, you know, I thought, I thought just some
- 2:34Speaker 6: players kind of moving around, playing some different positions, which
- 2:37Speaker 6: you can't overreact to too much. But you know, Marty
- 2:40Speaker 6: Mapu playing a little bit more with the safety group.
- 2:43Speaker 6: You know, Kean White continues to be on the edge.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Uh.
- 2:45Speaker 6: And some of the younger wide receivers got a chance
- 2:47Speaker 6: today with with a lot of the experienced veterans were
- 2:51Speaker 6: not here. So those young guys tomorrow, Davis, Kishan.
- 2:53Speaker 4: Bute, Douglas.
- 2:55Speaker 6: I got to be able to say his name, but
- 2:57Speaker 6: it's just like I feel like I pause, it's Booty, yeah,
- 3:00Speaker 6: making y'all know me, y'all know me. I can't get it.
- 3:03Speaker 4: Yeah, Yeah, it was It was a lot of instruction
- 3:07Speaker 4: and situational stuff that Bill talked about wanting to do today,
- 3:11Speaker 4: and it was at a much slower tempo. The big takeaway,
- 3:14Speaker 4: I think is what Mike said, you know, just a
- 3:16Speaker 4: lot of guys mixing and matching, and this is what
- 3:18Speaker 4: Bill talked about before the first ota that we got
- 3:22Speaker 4: access to, and so we got a chance to see
- 3:25Speaker 4: some different personnel groupings in the secondary. I thought there
- 3:28Speaker 4: was some interesting groups, and Mike mentioned Mapu being with
- 3:33Speaker 4: the safeties more so than the linebackers like he was
- 3:36Speaker 4: last week. And then you know, we saw some different
- 3:38Speaker 4: groups of offensive linemen, you know, some mixing and matching there,
- 3:42Speaker 4: and you know with the tight ends, which I think
- 3:45Speaker 4: we're going to talk about a little bit today too.
- 3:47Speaker 4: I know Evan was focusing a little bit on Henry
- 3:50Speaker 4: and Kasiki. They got a lot of work because what
- 3:54Speaker 4: most people would consider the top four wideouts none of
- 3:57Speaker 4: them really took part in practice. Thornton Parker born in
- 4:01Speaker 4: Juju right was even here.
- 4:04Speaker 6: Didn't see him.
- 4:04Speaker 4: Bill Setti was one of those four that I even saw,
- 4:07Speaker 4: was Parker.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Okay Ye was in Washington the Chiefs yesterday.
- 4:13Speaker 4: Bill Setti was here. When asked before practice but I
- 4:17Speaker 4: don't know what here necessarily is defined as.
- 4:20Speaker 5: Yeah, it's good to see the rookies pretty involved, and
- 4:24Speaker 5: I think, you know, we always talk about how they
- 4:26Speaker 5: don't always do that, you know, some of these rookies
- 4:29Speaker 5: sometimes they're often you know, and to the side or
- 4:32Speaker 5: with like the backups or the threes and the fours,
- 4:34Speaker 5: whatever you want to call them. But some guys getting
- 4:36Speaker 5: some serious round. Christian Gonzales his first open to the
- 4:40Speaker 5: media O t a right right into the fire, you know,
- 4:42Speaker 5: right into the mix. In the secondary. We've talked a
- 4:46Speaker 5: lot about white and Mapu today, Antonio Maffi getting some
- 4:50Speaker 5: of those Mike on Winnie reps at right guard. So
- 4:53Speaker 5: they're they're giving these guys some looks, which I think
- 4:55Speaker 5: is a good sign of progress that mentally they feel
- 4:58Speaker 5: like they're they're ready to have that opportunity. But I
- 5:01Speaker 5: think the two things that really stand out, and I
- 5:04Speaker 5: know Paul made a good point about the receivers not
- 5:06Speaker 5: being here, so you don't know. The personnel groupings might
- 5:10Speaker 5: have been driven by sheer numbers in some instances, but
- 5:14Speaker 5: the Patriots they were in twelve personnel just looked it
- 5:17Speaker 5: up a fifteen point nine percent of the time, which
- 5:19Speaker 5: was below league average last year.
- 5:21Speaker 4: I would take the over. I thought what you said
- 5:23Speaker 4: that you would like today.
- 5:25Speaker 5: No, I tried to today.
- 5:26Speaker 4: Holy crap, I sat next to you the whole.
- 5:28Speaker 6: Time, like I see you tracking Mac Jones's stats RAC.
- 5:33Speaker 5: Not not today? Maybe in trade It was a low
- 5:34Speaker 5: percentage last year fifteen point nine percent was middle of
- 5:38Speaker 5: the pack to low. If I was a betting man,
- 5:41Speaker 5: I would I would take the over on that this year, certainly.
- 5:44Speaker 5: And I think that's the big thing is Hunter, Henry
- 5:47Speaker 5: and Mike Kasiki have been like, you know, the two
- 5:49Speaker 5: best pals you've ever seen out on the practice, felt true.
- 5:52Speaker 4: I haven't made that comment during practice and.
- 5:54Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, I mean even like during special teams portions,
- 5:58Speaker 5: it's Henry and Sicky with Mac Jones and the quarterbacks
- 6:02Speaker 5: catching passes on the on the side field like there.
- 6:04Speaker 5: Those two guys have gone every even Taylor Swift. They
- 6:06Speaker 5: even went to Taylor Swift together, so they're they're going
- 6:09Speaker 5: everywhere together. And I think, uh, Bill O'Brien being back,
- 6:12Speaker 5: and you also put that into the equation that we
- 6:15Speaker 5: know he has that history of running a lot of
- 6:17Speaker 5: twelve personnel, so I think we're gonna see plenty of that,
- 6:20Speaker 5: plenty of that.
- 6:21Speaker 6: It was interesting to me just watching Bill O'Brien today,
- 6:23Speaker 6: like he just kind of stays to the side. Yeah,
- 6:25Speaker 6: Like a lot of times you see the offensive coordinator
- 6:26Speaker 6: there in the back of the offense, the quarterback will
- 6:28Speaker 6: come back and talk to him. He seems like he
- 6:30Speaker 6: likes to operate from the sideline and and and call
- 6:32Speaker 6: everything in and I just you know a little something
- 6:35Speaker 6: that you know, you notice when you're just looking for
- 6:36Speaker 6: details today. But kind of.
- 6:37Speaker 4: Interesting to me.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Yeah, I thought it was interesting. With Bill's press conference,
- 6:43Speaker 1: somebody mentioned that some teams are canceling.
- 6:46Speaker 4: Yeah, the Jets did mini camp, which the Eagles, the Bengals.
- 6:50Speaker 4: I think there's like four or five teams that have
- 6:52Speaker 4: already done away with it.
- 6:54Speaker 1: It seems interesting though to me, because mini caamp is
- 6:57Speaker 1: when it's mandatory. Yeah, you have to be there, Like
- 7:00Speaker 1: I would, I would cancel these before I would cancel
- 7:04Speaker 1: the one where everybody has to be there. But maybe
- 7:06Speaker 1: they're getting such great attendance at their OTA.
- 7:09Speaker 4: It's a good point. It's a good point, Freddie. I
- 7:11Speaker 4: wonder if it's just because it's mandatory, they don't want
- 7:14Speaker 4: to make anything mandatory. They want to just sort of
- 7:17Speaker 4: go through it. You know. It's one of those things
- 7:19Speaker 4: like the new age companies now that like sort of
- 7:22Speaker 4: force you to take vacation. Yeah, you know, and if
- 7:24Speaker 4: you take a vacation, you get a stipend or whatever.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Right. I like that.
- 7:29Speaker 6: I saw some of the Mike McDaniel because I think
- 7:31Speaker 6: he did that with the with the dolphins too, and
- 7:34Speaker 6: they said, what why, And you just talked a lot
- 7:36Speaker 6: about you know, I want these guys to be invested
- 7:37Speaker 6: in when they're here and they're playing well and practicing well.
- 7:41Speaker 6: I wanted them to know that it's going to be rewarded.
- 7:43Speaker 6: And so, you know, for them, I think that was
- 7:45Speaker 6: you know.
- 7:45Speaker 1: What it was. But here's the thing about it. It's
- 7:48Speaker 1: like I get it. You know, a reward is you
- 7:51Speaker 1: get a day off. But you shouldn't look at practice
- 7:54Speaker 1: as something that to get out of when when you're
- 7:58Speaker 1: not doing you know what I mean. You should want
- 8:01Speaker 1: a practice to get better, you know what I mean.
- 8:04Speaker 1: It's like when you're raising a little puppy and you
- 8:06Speaker 1: have their crate, like you want them to like the crate.
- 8:10Speaker 1: You don't want to just throw them in the crate
- 8:11Speaker 1: every time they make a mistake, you know, because then
- 8:14Speaker 1: they're gonna equate the crate with bad. Practice should not
- 8:17Speaker 1: be equated with bratt with bad you know, like give
- 8:21Speaker 1: them other incentives, you know, don't take away practices. I like,
- 8:25Speaker 1: I don't get that mentality.
- 8:27Speaker 6: Well, it's hard because we haven't you know, there's a
- 8:28Speaker 6: few guys we haven't seen a practice. I'll just name
- 8:30Speaker 6: two veterans we haven't seen Matthew Judoh or Trump Brown
- 8:32Speaker 6: those couple of days. Like, so then you have the
- 8:35Speaker 6: mandatory practices, and like, are those guys just kind of
- 8:37Speaker 6: out of luck? Like they're not gonna participate now, or
- 8:40Speaker 6: they're not gonna get information.
- 8:41Speaker 1: What I'm really getting at is is there any chance
- 8:43Speaker 1: you cancel some of that mini camp?
- 8:45Speaker 4: Well, well this is my This is two separate things.
- 8:48Speaker 4: But like I wanted to ask you what your impressions
- 8:51Speaker 4: were of Bill's answer to that question today because I
- 8:54Speaker 4: kind of thought when when the question was asked, you
- 8:57Speaker 4: know how we all do it. I mean, I'm not
- 8:58Speaker 4: the only one. We all sort of anticipate what Bill's
- 9:00Speaker 4: going to say. I thought that there was going to
- 9:02Speaker 4: be something along the lines of, well we view all
- 9:05Speaker 4: of these opportunities as a chance to work and get better.
- 9:08Speaker 4: And he didn't really answer it that way. He was like,
- 9:11Speaker 4: you know, well, you know there's different different ways, and
- 9:14Speaker 4: you know how I don't want to talk for any
- 9:16Speaker 4: other teams, And he didn't really say what his plans were.
- 9:19Speaker 4: And I do wonder if maybe, like I wouldn't be
- 9:22Speaker 4: surprised if kind of keeping in line with the way
- 9:25Speaker 4: they did it last year and have done it other years,
- 9:28Speaker 4: instead of a three day camp it turns into a
- 9:29Speaker 4: two day camp or something like that. But to your
- 9:32Speaker 4: point about guys missing, I think if you know, like
- 9:35Speaker 4: this wasn't like they practiced well, so they canceled mini camp.
- 9:39Speaker 4: The plan was no mini camp, I know, at least
- 9:41Speaker 4: in Philadelphia. I think I think Philadelphia is the one
- 9:44Speaker 4: I read that about with Sirianni, because that stuck out
- 9:47Speaker 4: to me because of you and I being in Philly
- 9:49Speaker 4: and the practices were running the ors much different length
- 9:53Speaker 4: and tempo than we're used to here in New England.
- 9:56Speaker 4: So I wonder if maybe because they know there's no
- 9:59Speaker 4: mini camp, the players do show up to get their
- 10:02Speaker 4: work in. Yeah, you know, whenever.
- 10:05Speaker 6: I just wonder, what is the most critical thing for
- 10:07Speaker 6: Mini camp, you know. Like so he talked today of
- 10:10Speaker 6: these OTAs, they're just kind of said, look, we're just
- 10:12Speaker 6: installing our basic stuff. That's fine. What do you have
- 10:15Speaker 6: to come out of mini camp with? And something like
- 10:17Speaker 6: part of it to me just feels like it's almost
- 10:18Speaker 6: addressed rehearsal for training camp, so people know what to expect.
- 10:21Speaker 1: That's what I always looked at it at.
- 10:22Speaker 6: And that's it. It's like more of a schedule thing
- 10:24Speaker 6: than an actual like in like, we really got to
- 10:26Speaker 6: install this part of our offense or defense in mini camp,
- 10:29Speaker 6: Like I don't know, I don't know how vital it
- 10:32Speaker 6: still is.
- 10:33Speaker 1: Well, again, it was mandatory. So the difference between OTA
- 10:36Speaker 1: and Mini camp is it's mandatory. The practice is what the.
- 10:39Speaker 4: Same, They're exactly the same. You're absolutely right.
- 10:41Speaker 1: You know, but it's a folk like you know, as
- 10:44Speaker 1: I explained before, the league says, you're allowed twenty four
- 10:46Speaker 1: hours for three days during mandatory mini camp, and you
- 10:50Speaker 1: can split it up any way you want. Bill decided
- 10:53Speaker 1: last year to do ten, ten and four, you know,
- 10:56Speaker 1: because he he says that a typical workday here is
- 11:00Speaker 1: ten hours, so he wanted them to see what a
- 11:04Speaker 1: typical work day was so he gave them two days
- 11:07Speaker 1: of ten hours and then the next day was four
- 11:09Speaker 1: hours and he let him go early. But that's important though,
- 11:13Speaker 1: especially for the young guys. What is a typical what
- 11:16Speaker 1: does a typical workday look like? So that it's when
- 11:18Speaker 1: you get here for training camp, it's not new, You've
- 11:21Speaker 1: done it, you know.
- 11:22Speaker 6: Well, that's what we Paul were talking about, Like they're
- 11:24Speaker 6: doing these ota sessions middle of the day and it's
- 11:26Speaker 6: just throwing our schedule off. But you know, that's I'm
- 11:29Speaker 6: expecting Mini camp next week is going to be the
- 11:31Speaker 6: usual nine thirty to eleven thirty interviews after that training camp,
- 11:35Speaker 6: you know, kind of schedule. So I don't know, I
- 11:38Speaker 6: would like to see, you know, everybody to get out
- 11:40Speaker 6: there and have the full team here, but yeah, we'll see.
- 11:43Speaker 6: I think they'll do at least a couple of them.
- 11:44Speaker 5: I just think that every year put these collectively bargained
- 11:47Speaker 5: rules to what the amount that you can actually do
- 11:50Speaker 5: on the practice field becomes less and less. So at
- 11:54Speaker 5: some point it's like it's a glorified walkthrough. And if
- 11:59Speaker 5: you've got everything in installed that you want to get installed,
- 12:02Speaker 5: what are you really doing out there at that point,
- 12:05Speaker 5: you know, And I think we've even seen it these
- 12:07Speaker 5: first two practices. Last week was a little bit more
- 12:10Speaker 5: ramped up than today, but in general, like maybe the
- 12:14Speaker 5: most ramped up they get to is like seventy five percent.
- 12:17Speaker 5: I would say, I don't really think we're talking about
- 12:19Speaker 5: full speed football at any level. So at some point
- 12:23Speaker 5: I feel like it's it's almost just as long as
- 12:26Speaker 5: you get the install that you want to get in.
- 12:29Speaker 5: And that's what a lot of the coaches talk about it.
- 12:30Speaker 5: They just want to get that basic and that's fine.
- 12:33Speaker 1: But don't tell me now that September is like an
- 12:35Speaker 1: extension of preseasons. I don't want to hear that.
- 12:39Speaker 5: Yeah, that's fair.
- 12:40Speaker 4: Yeah, I think that's a fair I agree with these guys.
- 12:43Speaker 4: I think that's a fair criticism. But I also I
- 12:45Speaker 4: agree one hundred percent with Evan. I think there is
- 12:49Speaker 4: a period of dress rehearsal, like Mike said, and then install,
- 12:54Speaker 4: and then once they get to trading camp, they don't
- 12:57Speaker 4: need to go over that kind of stuff like that.
- 13:01Speaker 4: That kind of stuff should be should be ready to go,
- 13:03Speaker 4: and now you're fine tuning. You know, as we know, Mike,
- 13:05Speaker 4: what do we start with red zone, red zone. You know,
- 13:08Speaker 4: you got to start with red zone, and then you go,
- 13:10Speaker 4: you know, you do some of your goal you know,
- 13:12Speaker 4: your goal line defense, and then you know, you get
- 13:14Speaker 4: the pads on. So it's a little bit more run heavy.
- 13:16Speaker 4: Some interior running drills we see during during camp, and
- 13:20Speaker 4: it just builds and builds and builds. But I agree
- 13:22Speaker 4: with you, Fred, if you don't necessarily need all the
- 13:27Speaker 4: days that you're allowed during the spring, right like week
- 13:32Speaker 4: one should be all right, well, h let's be ready
- 13:34Speaker 4: to go. Let's not have by some reports, ten percent
- 13:37Speaker 4: of the offense installed, right, you know, or whatever they
- 13:40Speaker 4: said last year in that game in Miami, they went
- 13:42Speaker 4: in with a shockingly low number of plays.
- 13:45Speaker 1: I mean, we just told that every one of these
- 13:47Speaker 1: things are critical. And is it a disservice to a
- 13:50Speaker 1: young guy who's trying to make, you know, a name
- 13:53Speaker 1: for himself to get less opportunities to do so?
- 13:56Speaker 6: Yeah, well I think you got a pretty good group.
- 13:58Speaker 6: I mean, I'd be interested to hear like Mac thinks
- 14:00Speaker 6: of it. I mean, Max seems like the kind of
- 14:01Speaker 6: kid like he don't want to be anywhere else, like
- 14:03Speaker 6: he wants to play. Come and you know, beat mini camp.
- 14:05Speaker 6: I'm sure there are plenty of guys. Maybe not plenty,
- 14:07Speaker 6: but there's definitely guys on the team that would like
- 14:09Speaker 6: nothing more than them to say no Mini camp go,
- 14:12Speaker 6: you know, start your summer break early. But I agree,
- 14:15Speaker 6: I think where this team's at though, it's just hard
- 14:16Speaker 6: to say, can we cut practices right now? Like you got,
- 14:19Speaker 6: you got a new offensive coordinator that you're trying to
- 14:21Speaker 6: put in. You've got a lot of young players that
- 14:23Speaker 6: you're hoping that you can, you know, groom and develop
- 14:26Speaker 6: into star players. And you know it's how to best
- 14:28Speaker 6: service them, especially right now when when the bullets aren't flying,
- 14:32Speaker 6: you know, be able to go out there and you know,
- 14:34Speaker 6: put some things in and correct them and you know,
- 14:36Speaker 6: work through with those guys. I mean, that's I mean
- 14:38Speaker 6: the biggest takeaway we saw today just every time a
- 14:40Speaker 6: rookie kind of pops up in one of these drills,
- 14:41Speaker 6: whether it's you know, a mere speed getting the Special
- 14:44Speaker 6: Team's Superstar workout, you know with with Matthew Slater or
- 14:48Speaker 6: Mapu kind of moving all over the place, or you
- 14:51Speaker 6: know the three rookie linemen all kind of playing different
- 14:53Speaker 6: spots and you know, really starting to. I don't want
- 14:56Speaker 6: to say that it's starting to, but they just like
- 14:58Speaker 6: I think with on Whnu, we saw the same thing. Wow,
- 15:00Speaker 6: he's there now all of a sudden. You know we're
- 15:02Speaker 6: early on, but he's kind of getting some looks at
- 15:04Speaker 6: some different spots. And you know with the upper level
- 15:07Speaker 6: you know, team than that. I don't know ones, twos,
- 15:09Speaker 6: all that stuff. I don't know how much that matters
- 15:10Speaker 6: right now, but it just seems like a lot of
- 15:12Speaker 6: those guys it's click. And for him he mentioned Gonzales too,
- 15:14Speaker 6: who was very involved and you know, right out there
- 15:17Speaker 6: with with with the top units and stuff. So that's
- 15:19Speaker 6: the exciting part for me. So more chances to see
- 15:21Speaker 6: these rookies and get them chance to develop on the field,
- 15:24Speaker 6: those are the things this team needs right now.
- 15:26Speaker 5: Yeah, and it just thinks that you just don't. These
- 15:30Speaker 5: practices are getting further and further away from actual football, right,
- 15:34Speaker 5: like live football, social training camp, right, and so at
- 15:37Speaker 5: some point, you know Bill talks about hit, they want
- 15:41Speaker 5: to hit the ground running and training camp. So we're
- 15:43Speaker 5: not putting in our basic install in August. We're doing
- 15:47Speaker 5: that now and then once we get to August, it's
- 15:49Speaker 5: not about installing plays. It's about competition at that point
- 15:53Speaker 5: and figuring out the roster right now, this is all
- 15:55Speaker 5: just mental learning period, teaching period as he calls it.
- 15:59Speaker 5: So they're not we go out there and we evaluate it.
- 16:04Speaker 5: Put it in their quotes say, you know, we evaluate players.
- 16:07Speaker 5: But they they at least claim that they're not doing
- 16:11Speaker 5: that as much as what they're doing, and certainly in
- 16:14Speaker 5: training camps. So for like the young guys or the
- 16:17Speaker 5: guys Liken, you know, and Edi Lee trying to make
- 16:20Speaker 5: the roster and stuff like that. I just don't know
- 16:21Speaker 5: how much they're really gleaning from these practices.
- 16:25Speaker 1: I mean, at this point, let's just say, let's take
- 16:27Speaker 1: them for their word. It's teaching. I'm still evaluating how
- 16:30Speaker 1: well you're absorbing what I'm teaching.
- 16:32Speaker 4: There's an evaluation there, there's no question because every year
- 16:35Speaker 4: we see it, and you know, and ev and I
- 16:37Speaker 4: were talking about. Evan mentioned to me, like, you know,
- 16:39Speaker 4: the rookies are really involved today and sometimes you don't
- 16:44Speaker 4: see that. And there are years that you know, you
- 16:48Speaker 4: go out there and you're watch and you're like, wow,
- 16:50Speaker 4: you know so and so is really getting a lot
- 16:53Speaker 4: of run with other guys that you expect to be
- 16:55Speaker 4: part of the equation. And then other guys and i'd
- 16:58Speaker 4: use like Malcolm Butler as an example of that. There's
- 17:01Speaker 4: been many others, And I would use on the flip side,
- 17:04Speaker 4: a guy like Ronnie Perkins who never seems to get
- 17:08Speaker 4: any reps in these these kinds of practices with guys
- 17:11Speaker 4: that you expect to be a big part of the team.
- 17:13Speaker 4: So where are they figuring that out? What Fred said,
- 17:17Speaker 4: in the meeting rooms and in studying whatever however they're
- 17:21Speaker 4: evaluating it. They're doing it because there's a depth chart
- 17:25Speaker 4: that sort of established as they get out there. Now
- 17:28Speaker 4: does it change and does it move? And do person
- 17:30Speaker 4: like the offensive lineman today, you really needed to be
- 17:34Speaker 4: on it to try to remember all the different combinations
- 17:37Speaker 4: that they had because guys were coming in and out,
- 17:39Speaker 4: and you know, there was a lot of a lot
- 17:41Speaker 4: of the veterans that no Riley Reef, no Trent Brown today,
- 17:44Speaker 4: so you know, the veteran tackles weren't out there. That
- 17:47Speaker 4: opens up the door for a rookie like City sal
- 17:50Speaker 4: and you know and other guys like that. But they
- 17:52Speaker 4: have to evaluate somehow to figure out why did City
- 17:56Speaker 4: Sao go out there? And not someone else right, you know,
- 18:00Speaker 4: right to that point too.
- 18:00Speaker 6: I saw Phil tweeted I did not witness this, but
- 18:04Speaker 6: he said, boots booty. Goddamnit, Booty lined up wrong and
- 18:08Speaker 6: got an earfull from from Bill O'Brien. So I just
- 18:10Speaker 6: think that's the kind of thing.
- 18:11Speaker 1: And if he keeps doing that, that will be part
- 18:13Speaker 1: of the evaluation.
- 18:15Speaker 5: Yeah, not not to get too crazy about June sixth practice,
- 18:19Speaker 5: but there were a little bit more of that going
- 18:20Speaker 5: on today. Some off sides on defense, a couple of laps,
- 18:27Speaker 5: you know, some dropped drop passes.
- 18:29Speaker 4: Little funny Malie Cunningham seemed to be lining people up
- 18:32Speaker 4: a lot today. Now he's playing wide receiver, yeah, and
- 18:36Speaker 4: you know, but.
- 18:36Speaker 5: He also could be studying it from a quarterback perspective,
- 18:39Speaker 5: which gives me.
- 18:40Speaker 1: But that's a good sign, you know, maybe he's a
- 18:42Speaker 1: quick learn.
- 18:43Speaker 5: I mean, we saw that last year. Every training camp
- 18:46Speaker 5: practice had felt like somebody was lining up in the
- 18:48Speaker 5: wrong place, or people are getting chewed out for not
- 18:51Speaker 5: being you know, in the right spots or whatever.
- 18:53Speaker 1: So Evan, I've been here for a long time. I
- 18:56Speaker 1: never I never remember seeing an offense in camp. Look,
- 19:01Speaker 1: so just it just didn't look right. Yeah, just didn't
- 19:04Speaker 1: look right. I don't care it was Pete Carrol or
- 19:07Speaker 1: Parcels or Belichick. I've never seen it in camp looked
- 19:10Speaker 1: the way it looked last year.
- 19:11Speaker 6: I not much to watch, but I was intrigued by
- 19:14Speaker 6: some of the stuff they're running. It's you know, you
- 19:16Speaker 6: can tell there's I mean we're talking about motion, you know,
- 19:19Speaker 6: misdirection thing. You know, we're faking a screen to one side.
- 19:22Speaker 6: We're going to like you can already see the beginning.
- 19:24Speaker 6: I know, Evan, you know, had a great point of
- 19:26Speaker 6: this is you know, this is all stuff they're going
- 19:28Speaker 6: to build off of and you know, not trick plays,
- 19:30Speaker 6: but they see this coming, then we're gonna build off
- 19:32Speaker 6: of that. Next time it's going to be going the
- 19:34Speaker 6: other way, those kind of things. It's just it looks
- 19:36Speaker 6: it looks right a lot of the time to me.
- 19:38Speaker 6: And you know, there's not a lot of pads or physicality,
- 19:42Speaker 6: but it's it seems like they're they're putting some good
- 19:45Speaker 6: stuff together. I feel pretty good about just maybe it's
- 19:48Speaker 6: just with that Bill O'Brien thing, Like every time I
- 19:49Speaker 6: just looked at the sideline and like, there he is
- 19:51Speaker 6: with you. Know a guy that you know, lately I've
- 19:53Speaker 6: been used to watching as a head coach, so you know,
- 19:55Speaker 6: you just kind of have that confidence in him. He
- 19:57Speaker 6: looks like he's putting together, you know, an offense that
- 19:59Speaker 6: people know what they're doing and they've got a plan
- 20:01Speaker 6: for attack, and you know they're gonna sequence plays and
- 20:03Speaker 6: all those things that we missed last year. It's just
- 20:05Speaker 6: you can see the beginnings of it right now here
- 20:07Speaker 6: in camp.
- 20:08Speaker 5: Yeah, they're working in one period working on some some
- 20:10Speaker 5: pop passes. Yeah, jet motion and then you pop it
- 20:13Speaker 5: to the guy instead of handing it to them. And
- 20:15Speaker 5: we've just seen a lot of that. They call that
- 20:17Speaker 5: pop passes, a little pop.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Passes like a shovel pass.
- 20:21Speaker 5: Right, Well, that's like the underhand one.
- 20:24Speaker 1: Pour the milk.
- 20:26Speaker 4: That's an option pitch for the milk, right, But he's
- 20:29Speaker 4: talking about a different kind of play.
- 20:30Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it's a forward pass. But it's just kind of.
- 20:34Speaker 5: It's funny because they count it in the box score
- 20:36Speaker 5: as a pass. So like you see a lot of
- 20:39Speaker 5: teams like Kansas City and stuff will run it and
- 20:40Speaker 5: it's like, oh, Patrick Mahomes, so there is another touchdown,
- 20:42Speaker 5: Like it's like, right, anyways, uh RPOs screens, motions into screens,
- 20:48Speaker 5: like a lot of different we're playing over here, but
- 20:52Speaker 5: the ball's over there, and type of things going on.
- 20:54Speaker 5: And I think that that's a lot of what was
- 20:56Speaker 5: missing from this offense last year is it just felt
- 20:59Speaker 5: so uh rudimentary. It has felt so basic last year
- 21:03Speaker 5: where everything was just.
- 21:05Speaker 6: And they couldn't get pass basic like they were stuck.
- 21:07Speaker 5: Was like, you're right, and you were just running plays
- 21:09Speaker 5: to run plays and things like that. This is you
- 21:12Speaker 5: can see, Okay, well we're gonna run this motion and
- 21:14Speaker 5: then we're gonna run it again, but we're actually gonna
- 21:16Speaker 5: do this off of it instead of the first time
- 21:18Speaker 5: we did that, and now we're gonna do this and
- 21:20Speaker 5: you know, those types of things I think are already
- 21:22Speaker 5: starting to show.
- 21:23Speaker 1: You don't consider the use of Marcus Jones as inventive.
- 21:28Speaker 4: I would.
- 21:33Speaker 6: Like, no, get huddle up, huddle up, none of that stuff,
- 21:37Speaker 6: none of the you know. I mean there was one
- 21:38Speaker 6: in one or two instance of today where Max didn't
- 21:40Speaker 6: have anybody, but I thought that that was you know,
- 21:43Speaker 6: all the rookies. I mean a lot of times he
- 21:44Speaker 6: was going to the tight ends the veterans, but you know,
- 21:47Speaker 6: we mentioned Booty getting yelled at a little bit for
- 21:49Speaker 6: for the lining up wrong, so you know, it's a
- 21:51Speaker 6: little bit clunky today, just I think because of the personality.
- 21:53Speaker 1: And I don't know, I have no idea who was
- 21:55Speaker 1: punting practicing, but whoever was Cordless Waven Yeah, yeah, what
- 22:00Speaker 1: a leg and the ability to you know, get it
- 22:04Speaker 1: to turn over so it stops on a dime. I
- 22:07Speaker 1: was impressed. He.
- 22:08Speaker 6: I mean, I'm not usually one to comment on punting,
- 22:11Speaker 6: especially in practice, but every now and then you just
- 22:13Speaker 6: catch sight of one that you're like, that's a boomer.
- 22:15Speaker 1: It just sounds like boomer, yeah, you.
- 22:18Speaker 6: Know, and it just seems to hang up there for
- 22:19Speaker 6: a while. Yeah, no, no, uh no Bearinger today. So yeah,
- 22:24Speaker 6: I mean he's gonna he's gonna have his work cutout
- 22:25Speaker 6: for him. I mean, I don't know how healthy Nick
- 22:27Speaker 6: Folk is or what he hasn't been around, but I
- 22:29Speaker 6: think both those rookie kickers, it's it's not gonna be
- 22:31Speaker 6: handed to them. They're certainly the favorites, but they're gonna
- 22:34Speaker 6: have to kick well and perform, and I think you'll
- 22:35Speaker 6: see a lot of that in training camp where there's
- 22:37Speaker 6: you know, all right, this kid, you know, all right,
- 22:40Speaker 6: put it, move it back. You know those kind of
- 22:42Speaker 6: competitions that that are always fun to watch. I always
- 22:44Speaker 6: like that stuff, and we've had a few years in competition.
- 22:46Speaker 5: I remember Jake Bailey's rookie spring and the ball is
- 22:51Speaker 5: just coming off his foot different and you could just
- 22:53Speaker 5: tell like, oh crap, like this guy's got a leg.
- 22:56Speaker 5: And then I remember Ryan Allen like didn't even make
- 22:59Speaker 5: it to training camp, I don't think before they cut him.
- 23:02Speaker 5: And there was one practice where Matthew Slater was watching
- 23:07Speaker 5: Jake Bailey punt and he was just like, holy crap.
- 23:09Speaker 5: You know, he's like applauding on the sideline about how
- 23:12Speaker 5: good he was. So I don't know if we've gotten
- 23:13Speaker 5: that moment yet out of these two guys where you're
- 23:16Speaker 5: like seeing teammates being like, oh my god, did you
- 23:19Speaker 5: see that? You know type of thing. But I maybe
- 23:23Speaker 5: we'll get there, but I don't think we've gotten that
- 23:25Speaker 5: moment yet. But wayman, he's got a leg.
- 23:27Speaker 1: And it was so funny because it wasn't an official
- 23:30Speaker 1: special Teams portion of practice, guys were still out there
- 23:33Speaker 1: doing the wrong thing. So he was punting from the
- 23:35Speaker 1: middle of the two fields. So all you do, you
- 23:38Speaker 1: just hear it. You wouldn't even know where it came from.
- 23:41Speaker 1: And then all of a sudden you see the ball
- 23:42Speaker 1: starting to come toward you. And I mean he was
- 23:45Speaker 1: hitting it inside the tent consistently.
- 23:47Speaker 4: I'll tell you something I noticed when he was kicking.
- 23:49Speaker 4: And I just might be more as a result of
- 23:52Speaker 4: some of the inexperience on the guys that were receiving them,
- 23:55Speaker 4: they were ever a hard time catching them, yeah, and
- 23:57Speaker 4: they were like kind of misjudging him, and he was.
- 24:04Speaker 4: There was a portion on the left field, the one
- 24:07Speaker 4: in front of us to our left, where probably ten
- 24:11Speaker 4: twelve punts he had. He had one shank, but the
- 24:14Speaker 4: rest of them were like boomed. Like Fred said, you know,
- 24:17Speaker 4: got a lot of them to turn over. And the
- 24:21Speaker 4: rookies were involved in some of those. And I have
- 24:24Speaker 4: the numbers down, but I don't know all the numbers
- 24:25Speaker 4: off the top of my head. I think I think
- 24:27Speaker 4: Speed was one of them, a.
- 24:29Speaker 5: Mere speed Mario Douglas has been to.
- 24:31Speaker 4: Mario Douglas had problems with one. I think I think
- 24:36Speaker 4: Booty might have had problems with one. So they, like
- 24:40Speaker 4: I said, it might have been as much about the
- 24:43Speaker 4: inexperience of the receivers, but they all seem to be
- 24:46Speaker 4: struggling just to catch them. Yeah, so I wonder if
- 24:49Speaker 4: he has like one of those funny balls to try
- 24:50Speaker 4: to catch him.
- 24:51Speaker 1: It seemed like if you're looking at it, it fades
- 24:54Speaker 1: to the left. So the players right a little bit,
- 24:56Speaker 1: just had that little action at the end. Cutter, a
- 24:58Speaker 1: little cutter.
- 25:00Speaker 5: See how they control it. You know, these these two guys,
- 25:02Speaker 5: Baringer and Weightman are known for having really big legs.
- 25:05Speaker 5: But can they can they pin him down?
- 25:08Speaker 1: Right?
- 25:08Speaker 5: You know if they said that right? If they're kicking
- 25:11Speaker 5: you know, if they if they have to punt at
- 25:13Speaker 5: their own forty five, like is he going to be
- 25:15Speaker 5: able to get it down inside the ten? Inside the five?
- 25:18Speaker 4: Can they?
- 25:18Speaker 5: Do they have different clubs that you know? Bill always
- 25:20Speaker 5: talks about it like it's golf, right, like you have
- 25:22Speaker 5: a driver, but then you also need to have the sandwich.
- 25:24Speaker 5: Like do they have different clubs or are they just
- 25:27Speaker 5: all all leg And that's it?
- 25:29Speaker 1: Speaking of golf, take announcements out of nowhere, huh? Live
- 25:33Speaker 1: in PGA merging.
- 25:34Speaker 4: Dogs and living together that.
- 25:36Speaker 1: Didn't last long? Well, PGA doesn't come out smelling very
- 25:39Speaker 1: well at it. I mean money wise, they will. But
- 25:42Speaker 1: like all this hue and cry about but we're not
- 25:44Speaker 1: going to ever and now money always talks, right.
- 25:48Speaker 6: It's just out of nowhere, Like no one even had
- 25:49Speaker 6: a heads up. I mean it was just all of
- 25:51Speaker 6: a sudden, like money and lawsuits they were even talking.
- 25:53Speaker 6: I didn't even know that that was even.
- 25:55Speaker 1: Like they did a great job keeping it Quietah, they
- 25:57Speaker 1: really did. Yeah.
- 25:59Speaker 4: I mean if anybody cares about golf, that's good because
- 26:01Speaker 4: now you have all of the best players again all the.
- 26:04Speaker 1: Time, and a huge infusion of money.
- 26:07Speaker 4: Yeah well, I mean yeah for a fan, I don't
- 26:09Speaker 4: really care about that.
- 26:10Speaker 1: No, but it makes the tournaments more, you know, rich,
- 26:14Speaker 1: so more. You know, of the best players will play
- 26:17Speaker 1: in more tournaments.
- 26:18Speaker 4: But a lot of these tournaments that you watch, like
- 26:20Speaker 4: like last week was good. There's a good tournament last week.
- 26:22Speaker 4: It was a playoff with Victor Hovlin and he ended
- 26:25Speaker 4: up winning it. I know a lot of people don't
- 26:26Speaker 4: care about this, but you know, punting and to not have,
- 26:31Speaker 4: you know, to not have the best golfers all of
- 26:34Speaker 4: those tournaments. Now Brooks Koepka just won the PGA, so
- 26:37Speaker 4: the majors. You're gonna get all those lift guys, and
- 26:39Speaker 4: that's great. So now you have them all all the time.
- 26:42Speaker 4: It's better if anybody that cares about golf.
- 26:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know. Made me want to go out there,
- 26:47Speaker 1: did it? Yeah?
- 26:48Speaker 4: Well with that kind of money that before you weren't
- 26:51Speaker 4: interested in just winning like ten million, but now it
- 26:52Speaker 4: would be more than.
- 26:53Speaker 1: Just the talking golf was like I just I want
- 26:55Speaker 1: to go play, go get Yeah.
- 26:57Speaker 4: I always found that any time I watched the movie
- 26:59Speaker 4: Caddies shit acted, made me want to go play.
- 27:01Speaker 1: Yeah, Cinderella Boy. Yeah, sure, all right, So what else?
- 27:05Speaker 1: So we got them? So that's our last access of Ota.
- 27:09Speaker 4: No one more Friday.
- 27:11Speaker 6: They gave us Friday.
- 27:13Speaker 1: They gave us Friday, so we'll be able.
- 27:14Speaker 6: To see eleven thirty to one thirty, and hopefully it's
- 27:16Speaker 6: a little bit more action packed than today. Not I mean,
- 27:18Speaker 6: not that it really can be that much more action pack,
- 27:20Speaker 6: but but maybe a little bit.
- 27:22Speaker 4: And I don't think it will be because I think
- 27:25Speaker 4: the way Bill talked today, they had the weekend off,
- 27:29Speaker 4: they went at it yesterday, they slowed it down today,
- 27:33Speaker 4: they'll be off tomorrow. My guess is uh, you know.
- 27:38Speaker 4: My guess is it'll be a busier day on Thursday,
- 27:41Speaker 4: and then they'll ramp it back down on Friday.
- 27:43Speaker 1: And then we have full access next week. Yeah, as
- 27:46Speaker 1: long as he doesn't cancel.
- 27:47Speaker 4: Yeah, whatever they whatever they practice at mini camp, the
- 27:51Speaker 4: media will be allowed to attend, that'll be live. So
- 27:53Speaker 4: we'll be live right now.
- 27:55Speaker 5: That Wednesday practice has like team field trip to bowling
- 28:00Speaker 5: Alley written all over it or something like that.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Early release more likely. Yeah, I like that.
- 28:06Speaker 5: Remember one year they went paintballing or something like that.
- 28:08Speaker 1: But we will be live next week. Whenever practice starts,
- 28:13Speaker 1: we'll start the show. It'll be live on YouTube and
- 28:15Speaker 1: uh and we'll do that each day that they have
- 28:19Speaker 1: practice next week.
- 28:21Speaker 6: Can we talk about the fight a little bit, little
- 28:24Speaker 6: little tempers overflow.
- 28:25Speaker 4: Yeah, there was a fight.
- 28:26Speaker 6: Yeah, oh Cold Strange and I guess was Anthony Jennings.
- 28:29Speaker 6: I think that was with some of the reporting ones
- 28:30Speaker 6: Cole Strange. Uh, definitely drew the ire of several defensive players.
- 28:36Speaker 6: Was it was it Jennings that was involved and then
- 28:39Speaker 6: you got a little heated, you know, a little pushing
- 28:41Speaker 6: and shoving.
- 28:42Speaker 1: Cold Strange showing a little nastiness like that that's him.
- 28:45Speaker 6: He's extra business. He's extra business like, and.
- 28:48Speaker 4: I'd like him to block first.
- 28:51Speaker 1: He blocked first.
- 28:52Speaker 4: I think he has the nastiness part down. I think
- 28:55Speaker 4: we saw that last year during games. I don't I
- 28:57Speaker 4: don't have any question about his compete level.
- 28:59Speaker 6: That kind of a wry about nasty. But I also
- 29:01Speaker 6: just we always, just in college, there was this guy
- 29:04Speaker 6: to fenceman, just extra business. It's always like why why
- 29:07Speaker 6: why right now? Like because he wasn't nasty. It was
- 29:10Speaker 6: just like we're practicing, like you don't need to cross
- 29:12Speaker 6: check me in the back while we're practicing, right Like
- 29:14Speaker 6: I wore team. I don't like that, you know, just
- 29:16Speaker 6: stupid stuff like that.
- 29:17Speaker 4: So I don't know that, and I don't know how this.
- 29:19Speaker 6: And I like I like how cold Strange played, like
- 29:21Speaker 6: I like that style. But like I just I think
- 29:23Speaker 6: he is nasty. But I also think it's a little
- 29:25Speaker 6: bit of like, dude, it's June, like, you don't have
- 29:27Speaker 6: to give the extra business to everybody that's not extra business.
- 29:31Speaker 5: I don't know ptice getting too soft, teams, teams, canceling
- 29:35Speaker 5: mini camps right now now, it's a little too much
- 29:39Speaker 5: like to block a little bit after the whistle.
- 29:41Speaker 6: I come on, I Missolda took exception to it. Took
- 29:45Speaker 6: exception to it.
- 29:46Speaker 1: I mean I always laugh, you know. The CBA. Oh,
- 29:49Speaker 1: you know, the owners gave a lot back to the
- 29:52Speaker 1: players in terms of limiting practices and OTA days. That's
- 29:56Speaker 1: not giving the players anything that they don't. What they
- 30:01Speaker 1: want is more money, you know, they don't pretty much, right,
- 30:07Speaker 1: all right? Eight five five PATS five hundred is the
- 30:10Speaker 1: ace ticket hut line web radio at patues dot com
- 30:12Speaker 1: is the email address any other like NFL news you
- 30:15Speaker 1: want to talk about. There was a report today that
- 30:17Speaker 1: two Cleveland Browns players got held up on one.
- 30:21Speaker 4: Point and had their car stole all their jewelry, their car.
- 30:25Speaker 1: Three thirty in the morning, you know, and good exactly,
- 30:29Speaker 1: Like why are you even driving? There's a program in
- 30:32Speaker 1: the NFL. Literally, there's a program in the NFL. A
- 30:35Speaker 1: player could call and have a ride anywhere they want
- 30:38Speaker 1: to go.
- 30:38Speaker 4: It's not Uber.
- 30:39Speaker 1: It's like a private thing, like you don't have to
- 30:42Speaker 1: drive when you're going out if you're an NFL.
- 30:43Speaker 4: So it would have been better if like they got
- 30:46Speaker 4: their jewelry stolen. But the Uber, no, that's that's just.
- 30:48Speaker 1: Saying like why do they even have like their pickup
- 30:50Speaker 1: truck with them?
- 30:51Speaker 4: I would just say, why are they out at three thirty? Well,
- 30:53Speaker 4: that's you know, I know, it's not like the Grandpa
- 30:55Speaker 4: and the group, but that's where.
- 30:56Speaker 1: That's where my father said. My father always said, if
- 31:00Speaker 1: you're not in bed by midnight, go home.
- 31:02Speaker 4: Yeah, right, right, right right.
- 31:07Speaker 6: I don't know, man, I I kind of like feeling
- 31:10Speaker 6: a little Hopkins. Uh, DeAndre Hopkins is a little tingle.
- 31:15Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 31:15Speaker 6: It just doesn't seem like there's a lot of interest
- 31:17Speaker 6: in him right now. I don't know. I I kind
- 31:19Speaker 6: of am feeling like.
- 31:23Speaker 1: I read a report that there's not a lot of
- 31:24Speaker 1: competition for the Patriots.
- 31:26Speaker 5: On this Like if you this is when the Patriots
- 31:30Speaker 5: will pouts on a player when they're not in the
- 31:33Speaker 5: bidding war. There's you know, we're late in the year.
- 31:35Speaker 5: It's kind of like pointed they have a relationship with
- 31:39Speaker 5: the guy, both the OC and the head coach. The
- 31:41Speaker 5: Patriots aren't going to get into a bidding war and
- 31:43Speaker 5: overpay people to.
- 31:44Speaker 4: Anybody worried about the fact that there's no real interest
- 31:47Speaker 4: in but one about.
- 31:49Speaker 1: That use of the force over Niko Sario still comes in.
- 31:53Speaker 1: He calls, you don't want there, Hopkins, No, I don't
- 31:56Speaker 1: want good thank.
- 31:57Speaker 4: You do that with a teams now.
- 32:00Speaker 1: But the Texas were said to have been involved, so
- 32:03Speaker 1: now they're gone.
- 32:03Speaker 4: No I know, But like Kansas City and Buffalo were
- 32:06Speaker 4: said to be involved too, and they're really not all
- 32:08Speaker 4: that interested.
- 32:09Speaker 5: Well, I also think that that's a cap situation in money,
- 32:12Speaker 5: and I know that they can move the money around.
- 32:14Speaker 4: And whatever, but they just signed Lendon Floyd.
- 32:17Speaker 5: Yeah, and I think that that money even ties it
- 32:20Speaker 5: up even further. I mean, I just I think that
- 32:22Speaker 5: there's I'm a little worried, that's all. There's I think
- 32:26Speaker 5: that there is a sound reasoning of that. DeAndre Hopkins
- 32:31Speaker 5: is not the guy that's gonna take the top off
- 32:33Speaker 5: the defense. He's not a deep threat anymore. He's not
- 32:35Speaker 5: a third level threat to the defense. But as a
- 32:38Speaker 5: possession receiver, I mean, he would have caught one hundred
- 32:40Speaker 5: and ten passes last year if he had played the
- 32:42Speaker 5: whole season for Arizona. So I he's gonna be a
- 32:45Speaker 5: guy that's going to be more in that eleven twelve
- 32:48Speaker 5: yard per catch range now in this point of his
- 32:51Speaker 5: career than a true big play guy. But I still
- 32:53Speaker 5: think that he can catch seventy five to ninety balls
- 32:56Speaker 5: playing on him.
- 32:57Speaker 1: If you're going to be like thirty twelve personnel, Does
- 33:02Speaker 1: having a guy like him clog it up a little
- 33:04Speaker 1: bit too much? Or can he fit into that type?
- 33:09Speaker 5: I just feel like he actually presents an outside the
- 33:12Speaker 5: numbers threat that maybe has a little bit more cachet
- 33:15Speaker 5: than Devonte Parker. Where when you start to talk about
- 33:18Speaker 5: pecking orders and things like that, it just makes it
- 33:21Speaker 5: all fit a little bit better to have, even if
- 33:23Speaker 5: it's just off of reputation, you know, Gandre Hopkins being
- 33:27Speaker 5: out there by name and it's not necessarily the same
- 33:30Speaker 5: guy that he once was, it just makes the whole
- 33:33Speaker 5: puzzle fit.
- 33:34Speaker 1: Does he'll get better.
- 33:37Speaker 5: To ask to find open?
- 33:39Speaker 8: Like?
- 33:39Speaker 4: Well?
- 33:39Speaker 1: Like is he a guy a consistent?
- 33:42Speaker 9: Like?
- 33:43Speaker 1: Can he be the binkie that Matt Jones needs? That's
- 33:46Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 33:47Speaker 5: I mean, he doesn't get open. He's never been like
- 33:49Speaker 5: a big time separator. You know, his game has always
- 33:53Speaker 5: been a hands body control route running craftiness like that.
- 33:57Speaker 5: He he ran like a four to six. You know,
- 34:00Speaker 5: this is not a guy that was ever.
- 34:02Speaker 1: Hey, I don't care about that, But can he get
- 34:03Speaker 1: open like guys.
- 34:04Speaker 5: Who run again, like, I think his open is different
- 34:08Speaker 5: than other people's open. So it's kind of hard to
- 34:11Speaker 5: like who like who like?
- 34:13Speaker 4: Who doesn't run well gets open consistent welcome.
- 34:15Speaker 1: Wasn't that fast. He wasn't fast at all. He was strong,
- 34:20Speaker 1: you know, but he he just.
- 34:21Speaker 4: Could sound now you sound like me in two thousand
- 34:23Speaker 4: and seven.
- 34:24Speaker 1: No, no, but what he what he did? He was
- 34:27Speaker 1: quick in short spaces.
- 34:29Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't think. I don't think quick or fast.
- 34:33Speaker 1: Worries. You don't have to be blazing fast to be
- 34:36Speaker 1: short routes to get open.
- 34:37Speaker 4: Don't don't confuse that. I'm not suggesting blazing fast. Evnant
- 34:41Speaker 4: just had four to six. That's not blazing that.
- 34:43Speaker 1: That's slow.
- 34:47Speaker 4: He runs really and he probably doesn't run a four
- 34:49Speaker 4: to six now either.
- 34:49Speaker 5: To Evan's point, he's a great route runner, though, and
- 34:52Speaker 5: I wouldn't call him quick in terms of like his
- 34:54Speaker 5: ability to stack short area moves together. But he's sudden
- 34:58Speaker 5: where like he can get up on the stem and
- 35:00Speaker 5: then just break it off just like that. Right, So
- 35:03Speaker 5: it's not necessarily like Wes Welker jitterbug quickness, but he's
- 35:07Speaker 5: got that ability to create some separation and at the
- 35:10Speaker 5: top of the route, you know, not digs, comebacks, back
- 35:14Speaker 5: shoulder fades, things over the middle of the field, that
- 35:18Speaker 5: those are gonna be what he's gonna gonna live off of.
- 35:21Speaker 5: And I just think that having him on the outside
- 35:24Speaker 5: it is an upgrade in my mind over DeVante Parker
- 35:26Speaker 5: and what we're talking about.
- 35:28Speaker 4: I would agree with that. I would I would make
- 35:29Speaker 4: the swap for Hopkins for Parker in a blink. Okay,
- 35:32Speaker 4: I absolutely would do that. But what Evan's talking about,
- 35:36Speaker 4: and I totally agree with that assessment, is he's never
- 35:39Speaker 4: really been a guy who's separated. But he's incredibly strong
- 35:43Speaker 4: and we'll catch those passes more often than not. He's
- 35:47Speaker 4: not a fifty to fifty guy like down the fields necessarily,
- 35:51Speaker 4: but he's not going to create a lot of separation
- 35:53Speaker 4: on a twelve yard out, but he's going to catch
- 35:55Speaker 4: it and that's where he west.
- 35:57Speaker 1: That's what he does. So to have type of production
- 36:00Speaker 1: he has, he's got to be doing something right.
- 36:02Speaker 4: Oh yeah, he was. He's a great like. I'm not
- 36:05Speaker 4: talking about him as a his career. His career has
- 36:08Speaker 4: been phenomenal. I just I'm a little worried based on
- 36:12Speaker 4: some of the stuff I'm reading and that that that's
- 36:16Speaker 4: like number one, and you sort of step back and
- 36:20Speaker 4: you're like, oh, okay, that's interesting. I hadn't realized because
- 36:23Speaker 4: I'm like Evan. I mean, I saw, like, in a
- 36:25Speaker 4: quarter of a season or a half a season last
- 36:27Speaker 4: year he was very productive. But now no one, no
- 36:30Speaker 4: one's made him an offer. Is it just money? Is
- 36:33Speaker 4: he because I know that everybody's saying he's looking for
- 36:36Speaker 4: that Odell Beckham contract, which to me is not outrageous. No,
- 36:40Speaker 4: and no one's interested.
- 36:41Speaker 6: Is the league done with him? That's like an Evan
- 36:43Speaker 6: thing like that league the league, The league thinks he's done.
- 36:45Speaker 5: I don't know if the league tells you what a
- 36:47Speaker 5: guy's value was. Yeah, I don't know if the league
- 36:49Speaker 5: necessarily thinks that he's washed. But I think the league
- 36:52Speaker 5: thinks that he's no longer the same guy that he was,
- 36:55Speaker 5: and he still has that diva wide receiver.
- 36:59Speaker 4: So now you take all these other things. He doesn't
- 37:01Speaker 4: like to practice, right, he's coming off a year that
- 37:04Speaker 4: he was suspended for six games for peds. You know,
- 37:07Speaker 4: he's had issues in the past, you know with Bill O'Brien.
- 37:11Speaker 4: Now I know that O'Brien is. There's been reports that
- 37:14Speaker 4: Bill is openly advocating for signing him, so maybe that's
- 37:20Speaker 4: less of a thing. But when you're no longer that like,
- 37:23Speaker 4: I mean, there was a time, probably as recently as
- 37:25Speaker 4: two years ago, three years ago, top three receiver in
- 37:28Speaker 4: football period, like anybody's list would have had. I love
- 37:31Speaker 4: DeAndre Hopkins. I love how hard he played, you know,
- 37:35Speaker 4: in all that stuff. But I just wonder if the
- 37:38Speaker 4: league is telling you they don't think he's that guy anymore.
- 37:41Speaker 4: And now these other things matter. They didn't matter when
- 37:43Speaker 4: he was when he was one of the best three receivers,
- 37:45Speaker 4: but now if he's a top twenty receiver in football,
- 37:49Speaker 4: some of those things, the fact that he doesn't practice
- 37:50Speaker 4: for a new team might be a problem. But doesn't
- 37:53Speaker 4: that set in fact he doesn't want to practice, I
- 37:55Speaker 4: don't want.
- 37:56Speaker 5: To doesn't that set up? Isn't that exactly what the
- 37:58Speaker 5: Patriots want?
- 37:59Speaker 1: Though?
- 38:00Speaker 5: Now it's a depreciated asset, And that's like why I
- 38:03Speaker 5: feel like they're lurking is because it's not they're no
- 38:07Speaker 5: longer making the A. J. Brown trade or the Tyreek
- 38:10Speaker 5: Hill trade. They're getting an asset who they're getting him
- 38:14Speaker 5: for pennies on the dollar at this point. I agree,
- 38:16Speaker 5: that's classic Bill.
- 38:17Speaker 6: I think Cleveland's the other team that has been mentioned
- 38:20Speaker 6: still kind of in the mix.
- 38:21Speaker 4: With Like I know, Brandon Bean was quoted today and
- 38:24Speaker 4: Buffalo is saying they are interested in signing him, but
- 38:26Speaker 4: he thinks that it'll take a significant contract. The more
- 38:30Speaker 4: time goes on, the less I think he's going to
- 38:31Speaker 4: get a significant contract.
- 38:33Speaker 1: Now, he did hire an agent, which is good.
- 38:36Speaker 6: Yeah, and it's supposed to take a visit here. I
- 38:39Speaker 6: think what's her face? Reported Diana Rassini. I don't know
- 38:41Speaker 6: that's something that.
- 38:43Speaker 5: Was like a Twitter room or I'm not sure I
- 38:45Speaker 5: have anything totally concrete on that.
- 38:47Speaker 6: Yeah, anything else league wide, the gambling thing, the clotse guy, like, so,
- 38:53Speaker 6: what do you guys.
- 38:55Speaker 4: Make of the influx in.
- 38:59Speaker 9: There?
- 39:00Speaker 1: Paying attention? I think they always did it. I think
- 39:03Speaker 1: they're paying attention.
- 39:05Speaker 6: What you think that? Do you think the league is
- 39:07Speaker 6: paying attention now to whose it's legal.
- 39:09Speaker 1: They have to crack down.
- 39:10Speaker 4: They have to crack down. They have to show everybody
- 39:12Speaker 4: how vigilant they're going to be.
- 39:14Speaker 6: Set an example.
- 39:16Speaker 5: But is this going to be something that we're going
- 39:17Speaker 5: to get a couple of high profile examples of in
- 39:21Speaker 5: the beginning, and then it's going to kind of die.
- 39:24Speaker 5: But that's sort of what.
- 39:24Speaker 1: I It's just not good though. I mean, like from
- 39:28Speaker 1: what I read, the guy was actually betting on Colts games.
- 39:31Speaker 5: That's the rumor.
- 39:32Speaker 6: Yeah, that's true from the practice facility.
- 39:35Speaker 4: It was a good h It was a good apology though, Yeah.
- 39:39Speaker 6: And so he just came out and nipped it in
- 39:40Speaker 6: the butt, like I think it was still speculation who
- 39:42Speaker 6: it even was, and he just came out and did somebody.
- 39:44Speaker 4: Actually I thought someone reported it. I don't know much
- 39:48Speaker 4: more on the Twitter machine than I am, but all
- 39:52Speaker 4: of a sudden, it was just I just feel like
- 39:53Speaker 4: when I read apologies from those guys, they're always so plastic,
- 39:56Speaker 4: and they're always so scripted, from like an agent order advisor,
- 40:01Speaker 4: And this was like, I made a really bad mistake,
- 40:04Speaker 4: not I made a you know, a lapse in judgment,
- 40:07Speaker 4: or it's not who I am, you know, it's no.
- 40:11Speaker 4: I I bleeped up, and I'm sorry, and it's a
- 40:14Speaker 4: privilege to play in this league and I'm jeopardizing it,
- 40:17Speaker 4: like I thought, you don't see a lot of guys
- 40:19Speaker 4: take full accountability. I'm not saying it makes it right,
- 40:22Speaker 4: but I don't know. Well, a lot of these guys
- 40:25Speaker 4: they like to pass the buck. Col's guy didn't. Calvin
- 40:27Speaker 4: Ridley got Calvin Rivers was got Richen So now read
- 40:30Speaker 4: that the player tribute.
- 40:32Speaker 6: But no, but what does this guy get now? I
- 40:33Speaker 6: mean if Calvin Ridley was like one or two, like
- 40:35Speaker 6: you know, little bets, I think now this guy was
- 40:37Speaker 6: like betting on Colts games from the facility, like knowingly
- 40:41Speaker 6: using someone else's account, Like I mean, he's got to
- 40:44Speaker 6: be gone for two years.
- 40:45Speaker 4: I mean, I don't I would say it's a I mean,
- 40:47Speaker 4: I would say it's a year. But who were the
- 40:49Speaker 4: other wasn't there another.
- 40:50Speaker 5: One Jamison Williams and all the lin.
- 40:55Speaker 4: What did they get?
- 40:56Speaker 5: So they got to different two different levels. Because Jamison
- 40:59Speaker 5: Williams was betting on I should get this right, but
- 41:04Speaker 5: I think I think he was betting on other sports.
- 41:07Speaker 5: So because it was his violation, his violation was that
- 41:12Speaker 5: he was doing it from the facility, which you can't
- 41:14Speaker 5: do on any sport period. But if he had went
- 41:16Speaker 5: home and placed a bet on an NBA game, then
- 41:20Speaker 5: he's allowed to do that. So that's why they only
- 41:23Speaker 5: got slaps on the wrists compared to there was one
- 41:25Speaker 5: one of the players got the full year that that
- 41:28Speaker 5: Ridley got.
- 41:29Speaker 1: It's it is interesting.
- 41:31Speaker 4: I mean, you know, I think you nail it, freend.
- 41:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 41:34Speaker 4: I think they have to have to be more vigilant
- 41:37Speaker 4: than they normally would.
- 41:38Speaker 1: Fans already think that at some games have fixed, you know.
- 41:41Speaker 4: I hate to say it, but they do, sure, you know,
- 41:44Speaker 4: but I don't necessarily think they're fixed because of the players,
- 41:46Speaker 4: but referee or you know, but everybody's got an angle Cincinnati,
- 41:50Speaker 4: Kansas City.
- 41:52Speaker 1: But like you know, players have influence on the game,
- 41:54Speaker 1: you know, and all it takes is, you know, to
- 41:57Speaker 1: to get behind and now you're a little bit desperate.
- 42:00Speaker 10: You know.
- 42:00Speaker 1: It's it's not good. It's such a weird you have
- 42:03Speaker 1: to be careful.
- 42:04Speaker 6: It's such a weird like partnership between the sports teams
- 42:07Speaker 6: and the game gambling companies. But the sports players can't
- 42:11Speaker 6: bet on the I mean, it's it's complicated, and I guess,
- 42:13Speaker 6: as you guys said, this is what they have to do.
- 42:15Speaker 6: They have to make an example of a few guys
- 42:17Speaker 6: until everybody's on the same page. I know Ben Volin
- 42:20Speaker 6: was asking some of the players out there after, you know,
- 42:22Speaker 6: what their thoughts were. I think t trich Wise said
- 42:24Speaker 6: that Bill had sat them down and you know, made
- 42:26Speaker 6: sure that it's it's crystal clear.
- 42:28Speaker 1: Of what you I think the league has to do it.
- 42:31Speaker 1: Major League Baseball did and say if you get if
- 42:33Speaker 1: you bet on football, ban for life over And I
- 42:38Speaker 1: think you need to do that for the confidence of
- 42:40Speaker 1: the public.
- 42:41Speaker 5: And that's what I did, which is why he got
- 42:44Speaker 5: to hear. Yeah, it is because he was betting on
- 42:47Speaker 5: other teams, not the Falcons, but he was betting on.
- 42:49Speaker 1: The NFL football. Yeah, and you just can't do it.
- 42:53Speaker 1: You just cannot do it. And if you do it,
- 42:55Speaker 1: you're gone, period, end of story.
- 42:57Speaker 6: You know, especially with the news like they can figure
- 42:59Speaker 6: out where you're doing it from. Like you know, it's
- 43:02Speaker 6: I think that was.
- 43:02Speaker 4: Part of it.
- 43:03Speaker 1: Far enough to do it for the facility, that's the player.
- 43:06Speaker 1: You're on the Wi Fi. If you're on Wi Fi here,
- 43:09Speaker 1: I know every site that you went to.
- 43:11Speaker 6: Really, yeah, you know, not do that.
- 43:15Speaker 4: Porn stuff work.
- 43:16Speaker 1: You probably should know.
- 43:17Speaker 6: You know, you're always late for the show, you know.
- 43:20Speaker 4: But you know, as he was saying, that when I
- 43:22Speaker 4: was really thinking in all honesty is like every week
- 43:25Speaker 4: I get I call up like latest lines to get
- 43:28Speaker 4: like some of the some of the spreads when we
- 43:31Speaker 4: do our picks, right, you know, right, because I have
- 43:36Speaker 4: my gambling different I took the course.
- 43:39Speaker 1: But I think they they've got to they've got to
- 43:41Speaker 1: come down hard. They've got to show the public that
- 43:44Speaker 1: they mean business, that they're just not going to tolerate it.
- 43:48Speaker 1: There's it's a one strike in your out policy.
- 43:51Speaker 6: Well, now's the time to do it when you're in
- 43:53Speaker 6: this dead period because once guys get into training camp,
- 43:56Speaker 6: the train starts rolling for the season. So now you
- 43:58Speaker 6: have to send those messages out and make sure that
- 44:00Speaker 6: these guys understand that, like we're going to know where
- 44:02Speaker 6: you're doing it. You're not gonna be able to do
- 44:03Speaker 6: it from other accounts. All that stuff is out, And
- 44:07Speaker 6: I'm very curious what the punishment is going to be
- 44:09Speaker 6: for this guy, because I mean a year doesn't seem
- 44:11Speaker 6: like enough. If if he was betting on his own
- 44:13Speaker 6: team multiple times, like I don't know, I think he's
- 44:15Speaker 6: out for a couple of years.
- 44:16Speaker 1: And you know, to the athletes, betting is another form
- 44:20Speaker 1: of competition juice the juice, Like you know, you're watching
- 44:23Speaker 1: the NBA playoffs and you know you have Shaq and
- 44:27Speaker 1: Charles and they're openly talking about betting on the show,
- 44:32Speaker 1: you know, not me.
- 44:35Speaker 4: So can I just say something real quick as I'm
- 44:39Speaker 4: sort of writing, as we're talking about the stuff that happened.
- 44:41Speaker 4: I think earlier in the show I mentioned a lot
- 44:44Speaker 4: of the mixing and matching, and I said something about
- 44:46Speaker 4: offensive line and I think I mentioned that Riley Reef
- 44:49Speaker 4: wasn't there and he was no, No mc dermott, No,
- 44:53Speaker 4: it was McDermott that wasn't. But just because I'm writing
- 44:56Speaker 4: some of the stuff and I'm like writing in Rightley,
- 44:59Speaker 4: I think I said early in the show that he
- 45:00Speaker 4: wasn't there. Trent Brown wasn't and Connor McDermott wasn't, but
- 45:03Speaker 4: Riley Reef was, Yes, So I just wanted to correct that.
- 45:07Speaker 6: Yeah, and he's been kind of a fixture at right tackle,
- 45:09Speaker 6: Calvin Anderson getting plenty of work at left tackles. So
- 45:13Speaker 6: like to your point, Paul, I think they they have
- 45:14Speaker 6: rounded out their depth. I just I am curious about
- 45:17Speaker 6: what Calvin Anderson looks like. I mean, you know how reliable.
- 45:20Speaker 6: Trent Brown has been sometimes that he might have an opportunity.
- 45:24Speaker 6: I think if you, I mean, if he had a
- 45:25Speaker 6: really great camp. I don't know if anybody would you know,
- 45:28Speaker 6: be upset with putting Trump back on the right side maybe,
- 45:31Speaker 6: or you know, see how Riley Reef works out. But
- 45:33Speaker 6: they just got some depth to play with. They had
- 45:35Speaker 6: nothing last year when they'd go get Connor McDermott from
- 45:37Speaker 6: the Jets.
- 45:38Speaker 1: All right, eight five to five. Pats five hundred is
- 45:40Speaker 1: the ace ticket, hutlined web radio at Patriots dot com
- 45:42Speaker 1: is the email address. Let's go to the phones. We'll
- 45:45Speaker 1: start with Christian in Los Angeles. What's up, Christian?
- 45:49Speaker 3: Hey, guys, A question in a statement, So on the
- 45:57Speaker 3: question side, is there anything that you guys can glean
- 46:02Speaker 3: or or identify as a sort of common trade or
- 46:08Speaker 3: or or something tangible that you can attach to OTAs
- 46:12Speaker 3: that you've seen in some of the best teams and
- 46:15Speaker 3: best years that we've had here as a Patriots.
- 46:20Speaker 1: Is it all just sort of are there signs that yeah,
- 46:23Speaker 1: that you see that you know, relate to a good season.
- 46:27Speaker 4: I can't speak to it.
- 46:28Speaker 6: I have only seen ot as the teams that didn't
- 46:29Speaker 6: want a playoff game.
- 46:30Speaker 4: So I'm going to be as honest as i can
- 46:34Speaker 4: be with this. I've never watched practices and said that
- 46:40Speaker 4: team's great, that team stinks. Never once, and I you know,
- 46:44Speaker 4: you saw signs of different things that you said, that
- 46:47Speaker 4: guy's going to be heavily involved in what they do
- 46:49Speaker 4: this year. You know, like Welker in two thousand and seven.
- 46:53Speaker 4: You could see that they had designs on him right away,
- 46:56Speaker 4: but never as great as that seven team was. As
- 47:00Speaker 4: soon as Week one happened, I don't think a lot
- 47:04Speaker 4: of us would have said this, this is different, this
- 47:06Speaker 4: is special.
- 47:07Speaker 1: People lied, People lie.
- 47:08Speaker 4: And say I thought they were going undefeated.
- 47:10Speaker 1: They have played in particular who we remember, But you know,
- 47:14Speaker 1: we all said, wow, yeah, Randy Moss is different, this
- 47:19Speaker 1: guy is and then he got hurt.
- 47:20Speaker 4: Yeah, Like I would like to say that you knew
- 47:22Speaker 4: that about Moss, but he barely took part and then
- 47:24Speaker 4: he didn't.
- 47:25Speaker 1: Practice the rest of the camp because he didn't need to. Really,
- 47:28Speaker 1: But there's no way you can tell, you know now
- 47:31Speaker 1: last year, and I'm gonna say thanks for the call.
- 47:34Speaker 4: Last year in training camp, Fred mentioned earlier that we've
- 47:36Speaker 4: never seen offense look like that and training camp. Fred
- 47:39Speaker 4: is right, and even then, I wouldn't have said this
- 47:43Speaker 4: team will never be able to complete a pass.
- 47:45Speaker 1: I thought they'd figure it out.
- 47:46Speaker 4: I figured at some point it would get better. It
- 47:48Speaker 4: just never did.
- 47:49Speaker 5: So I I do think that, like it's not tangible
- 47:54Speaker 5: of like necessarily, oh you see it, but there is
- 47:56Speaker 5: like a vibe, right, and like when Brady was still here,
- 47:59Speaker 5: like there was that vibe that you would get of confidence,
- 48:03Speaker 5: energy of all right, here we go again, right, another
- 48:06Speaker 5: football season and another crack at a super Bowl, and
- 48:10Speaker 5: there was just a I don't I don't know if
- 48:14Speaker 5: I necessarily feel the same energy.
- 48:18Speaker 1: You're absolutely right.
- 48:19Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 48:19Speaker 1: But so when I was thinking of answering Christian's question,
- 48:23Speaker 1: I was thinking, Okay, it's not fair to compare any
- 48:26Speaker 1: other year with the Brady years. So within the Brady era,
- 48:30Speaker 1: were there certain years where, wow, this year is going
- 48:32Speaker 1: to be special and no, they all they were so consistent.
- 48:35Speaker 1: And that was my point.
- 48:37Speaker 4: And I would say, yeah, if you wanted to say specifically,
- 48:40Speaker 4: like six was a year that you could see once
- 48:44Speaker 4: they made the Dion Branch trade, they're going to struggle
- 48:47Speaker 4: with the receivers. They're not that good. They don't have
- 48:49Speaker 4: a proven guy. And then O seven was night and
- 48:52Speaker 4: day because they went out and signed all those guys.
- 48:55Speaker 4: You know, it was Moss, Welker, Stalworth. Like you, you
- 48:59Speaker 4: just could tell, well, it's going to be better in
- 49:01Speaker 4: the passing game because they have more options in the
- 49:04Speaker 4: passing game. But in terms of like execution, they were
- 49:07Speaker 4: so damn consistent. Yeah, the ball never hit the ground ever. Yeah,
- 49:13Speaker 4: for twenty years.
- 49:14Speaker 5: I just think that there was one. There is a belief, right,
- 49:17Speaker 5: there was a vibe, There was a belief and it
- 49:20Speaker 5: will never watching like Brady run out for practice at
- 49:24Speaker 5: a training camp will never be like the with all
- 49:27Speaker 5: the fans there and there's people like up on the ramps,
- 49:31Speaker 5: you know, like the place is just absolutely packed and
- 49:33Speaker 5: he runs on the field and it's like you you know,
- 49:37Speaker 5: it's it's what you would imagine. It's like a rock star.
- 49:40Speaker 1: You know. Let's go to Pat naguam. What's up, pat.
- 49:46Speaker 7: Up?
- 49:46Speaker 4: Guys, Hey, hey.
- 49:46Speaker 6: Patty, Hey, just a question.
- 49:50Speaker 9: We know that danlen Nills is going to be in
- 49:51Speaker 9: the mix of Tick over dim mccordy's role, and I
- 49:55Speaker 9: don't think anybody that's on the roster right now is
- 49:57Speaker 9: ulsa Plant mccordy and what he did, not just as
- 50:00Speaker 9: far as leadership, but what he did on the field
- 50:03Speaker 9: throughout his career. But would you guys take a reasonable
- 50:08Speaker 9: facts simile of a guy like Willie Big Play Clay.
- 50:14Speaker 1: Willie Clay, I guess Big Clay. Yeah, I don't know.
- 50:21Speaker 1: I'm looking for a little bit better than Willie Clay.
- 50:24Speaker 1: Hopefully I'm not familiar with him.
- 50:26Speaker 4: Yeah, you don't remember Willie.
- 50:27Speaker 1: Clay, really big play Clay.
- 50:29Speaker 5: That's before my time.
- 50:31Speaker 4: That it was definitely before your time. I'm a little surprised.
- 50:34Speaker 1: The game is so different than it's hard to I
- 50:36Speaker 1: would think, Mike.
- 50:37Speaker 6: Now, this is one that got through me. Was he Brown?
- 50:39Speaker 6: Cleveland Brown?
- 50:40Speaker 4: I don't know Willie Clay. Well, he played for Detroit
- 50:43Speaker 4: before he played for the Patriots.
- 50:44Speaker 6: Yeah, I got nothing on him.
- 50:48Speaker 4: Like, you know, he made a I think he had
- 50:50Speaker 4: a big interception in the AFC Championship game in ninety six,
- 50:53Speaker 4: Yeah against Jacksonville. Yeah, might have been before I started
- 50:57Speaker 4: beating on the guy in front of me. I mean,
- 51:01Speaker 4: Willie Clay was a good player. But I kind of
- 51:03Speaker 4: agree with Fred. I never thought he was you know,
- 51:06Speaker 4: he had like the like the nickname and everything. I
- 51:08Speaker 4: never really thought he was all.
- 51:09Speaker 6: Back Willie Big play Clay.
- 51:12Speaker 1: I remember any place I used.
- 51:18Speaker 6: I thought I thought I was talking. My brain first
- 51:20Speaker 6: went to Willy Beamon Willi Beman from I was.
- 51:22Speaker 5: Like, Willy Beamon, Who's I'm writing about the safeties that
- 51:26Speaker 5: we talked to Duggar. We talked to Jalen Mills today
- 51:28Speaker 5: about his transition, and I remember to tweet that Devin
- 51:32Speaker 5: sent back in March when Devin mccordy when he retired,
- 51:35Speaker 5: that he said that he actually thinks that this group
- 51:37Speaker 5: could now be better without him because of the mixing
- 51:41Speaker 5: and matching and the rotations that they can do, because
- 51:43Speaker 5: now it's not as predictable, you know. He was saying
- 51:46Speaker 5: that when he was out there, he was always in
- 51:48Speaker 5: center field, like where no matter what they started in
- 51:51Speaker 5: or what it looked like pre snap, eventually he was
- 51:54Speaker 5: always going to end up in the middle of the
- 51:55Speaker 5: field somewhere. And now they have a lot of the
- 51:59Speaker 5: same type of player Dougger, Phillips, Pepper's even like today
- 52:03Speaker 5: we saw Marty Mappu playing a little bit of safety
- 52:06Speaker 5: and those guys are pretty similar body types, they're pretty
- 52:09Speaker 5: similar backgrounds, and now you can just sort of go
- 52:11Speaker 5: out there and the defense, the offense, excuse me, is
- 52:14Speaker 5: not necessarily gonna know who is gonna be where, So
- 52:17Speaker 5: maybe they won't have one singular player who's better than
- 52:20Speaker 5: Devin McCarty or is replacing Devin McCarty. I think it's
- 52:23Speaker 5: going to be a group of people.
- 52:25Speaker 1: The big way, it'll be the first two games. If
- 52:28Speaker 1: the opposing offense comes up with a big play, how
- 52:31Speaker 1: many guys in the secondary have their palms up looking
- 52:34Speaker 1: at each other, then you'll know, well, they're missing McCarty's communication.
- 52:39Speaker 6: That's what I was saying, And like you know, it
- 52:40Speaker 6: does it sounds great in theory that, like you know,
- 52:42Speaker 6: now they can't tell what's gonna come. But it also
- 52:45Speaker 6: requires that all those guys have that communication that Devin
- 52:48Speaker 6: McCarty had because you knew you could always count on
- 52:50Speaker 6: him in the back. But where it's right, Jabrill's on
- 52:53Speaker 6: the back end this play, you know, all right, now
- 52:54Speaker 6: we're going to mills Like, it's a lot of changes
- 52:56Speaker 6: going on, and if a miscommunication happens, especially on the
- 52:59Speaker 6: back an we all know what happens, it's gonna be.
- 53:01Speaker 1: A big score.
- 53:02Speaker 6: So I go back to that twenty twelve season when
- 53:04Speaker 6: they really seem to like make that move with him,
- 53:06Speaker 6: and it really, you know, set the stage for that
- 53:08Speaker 6: defense to win a few more Super Bowls. And it's
- 53:11Speaker 6: a really important thing. I think they need to find it.
- 53:12Speaker 6: And it's not even like the play style. It's like,
- 53:15Speaker 6: you know, you just everybody needs to be on the
- 53:17Speaker 6: same page. You need that communication, especially in this defense.
- 53:19Speaker 5: Yeah, I think the communication is gonna Like you both
- 53:22Speaker 5: said that that will be the I'm not as worried
- 53:24Speaker 5: about them physically replacing Devin the range, like I don't
- 53:28Speaker 5: really Yeah, we could get out there and there could
- 53:31Speaker 5: be when he was back there. The amount of coverage
- 53:35Speaker 5: bus you could count on like one hand, like, yeah,
- 53:37Speaker 5: the guys get beat individually, but in terms of, oh
- 53:39Speaker 5: they just let some guy go run by himself for
- 53:43Speaker 5: forty yards like that, that just doesn't happen too often.
- 53:46Speaker 6: We go watch Seattle twenty twelve, that was there at
- 53:48Speaker 6: that game, and it was like Tevon Wilson and I
- 53:51Speaker 6: forget who it might have even had to put Nate
- 53:53Speaker 6: ember At there at that point because they were they
- 53:55Speaker 6: were really shorthanded.
- 53:56Speaker 4: But it was Seattle bombs away bombs away.
- 53:59Speaker 5: The structure of the Pays defenses second to none, Like
- 54:01Speaker 5: they are just so structurally sound in the back end.
- 54:05Speaker 5: And you'll go watch like tape of other defenses around
- 54:07Speaker 5: the league. You're like, they just let a guy ten
- 54:10Speaker 5: yards behind them, like nobody everybody's palms up, like who
- 54:13Speaker 5: had him?
- 54:13Speaker 1: Right?
- 54:13Speaker 5: And that just doesn't didn't happen them here.
- 54:16Speaker 1: Get three when they got rid of malloy and that
- 54:18Speaker 1: first game against Buffalo, sitting with Brian Moore and Brian's like,
- 54:22Speaker 1: how how fast into the game before they're arguing with
- 54:25Speaker 1: each other, And sure enough, that first big play Buffalo had,
- 54:29Speaker 1: They're all yelling at each other. Back there it was
- 54:32Speaker 1: you know, ty law was yelling at somebody Rodney.
- 54:34Speaker 4: Ty Ty was gesturing two people, and it was it
- 54:38Speaker 4: was I mean the culprit was Antoine Harris, Oh yeah,
- 54:42Speaker 4: who was out of position a lot. And the next
- 54:44Speaker 4: week it was Eugene Wilson. And they never lost again.
- 54:47Speaker 6: Right right, and Lawyer was probably only other side They.
- 54:50Speaker 4: Lost one game the rest of the year.
- 54:52Speaker 10: That was it.
- 54:53Speaker 1: Bryce walks, It walks in fine to a bar. Bryce
- 54:56Speaker 1: rights in. I think the Patriots difficult schedule is a
- 55:00Speaker 1: blessing in disguise. And here's my reasoning. One, I still
- 55:04Speaker 1: think of this season as a building year. Thus, I'm
- 55:06Speaker 1: not as worried about the team's win loss record as
- 55:09Speaker 1: they otherwise would be. Two, I think playing best teams
- 55:12Speaker 1: in the league on paper will provide a better picture
- 55:15Speaker 1: of where the Patriots are as a franchise. They'll have
- 55:17Speaker 1: a better understanding of who they can build around and
- 55:20Speaker 1: what air is they still need to be addressed. Playing
- 55:23Speaker 1: stronger competition will not allow will not allow any weaknesses
- 55:27Speaker 1: to be hidden. Additionally, playing this schedule should help the
- 55:30Speaker 1: younger players in the long run. And Three, Finally, I
- 55:33Speaker 1: really think at at something at the start of the season,
- 55:39Speaker 1: we should have a clear picture of Mac. Or maybe
- 55:41Speaker 1: it means at the end of the season, we should
- 55:42Speaker 1: have a clear picture of Mac. He will either put
- 55:45Speaker 1: up points with top offenses or not. He has completed weapons. Boy,
- 55:51Speaker 1: this is the writing here is just terrible anyway. Yeah, no,
- 55:55Speaker 1: it's not my reading. I'm trying to, you know, transcribe
- 55:59Speaker 1: this thing. I'm reading it.
- 56:01Speaker 4: I don't really understand a couple of points on that.
- 56:04Speaker 4: And listen, your schedule is what it is. It's nothing.
- 56:07Speaker 4: I mean, there are gonna be years. Your schedule is
- 56:09Speaker 4: gonna be a little bit more daunting than others. That's
- 56:11Speaker 4: the way it works. But I don't really know why
- 56:15Speaker 4: we're okay with a hard schedule because this is a
- 56:18Speaker 4: what was like a rebuilding Why why are we there? Why?
- 56:21Speaker 4: Why why are we well?
- 56:24Speaker 1: Isn't that you know? It's not like the Celtics where
- 56:26Speaker 1: we're expected to win this year.
- 56:27Speaker 4: No, I understand that because they don't think the team
- 56:29Speaker 4: is that good.
- 56:30Speaker 1: Well, they don't know yet, we don't know.
- 56:32Speaker 4: But people that don't have a lot of expectations for
- 56:34Speaker 4: the Patriots don't think they're that good.
- 56:37Speaker 1: Well, we don't know. They could end up being good.
- 56:39Speaker 4: I understand that. But people who do not have high
- 56:41Speaker 4: expectations for the team right now don't think the Patriots
- 56:45Speaker 4: are that good. That's why they don't have high expectations.
- 56:48Speaker 4: We haven't had any idea what's going to happen? Fred,
- 56:51Speaker 4: They could win thirteen.
- 56:52Speaker 1: Games, right, and then they're good.
- 56:55Speaker 4: Mike, Please please help me. Even when like, I just
- 57:00Speaker 4: don't understand why we would go into the season saying, well,
- 57:03Speaker 4: it's a rebuilding year anyway. Well, why we're now several
- 57:08Speaker 4: years removed from Tom Brady. Why are we like going
- 57:10Speaker 4: into a season thinking, yeah, everybuilding anyway, I'm not. I'm
- 57:15Speaker 4: not worried if they don't win this year because they're not.
- 57:18Speaker 4: They're not not supposed to win, Like, no, you should
- 57:20Speaker 4: be at a point your quarterbacks in his third year,
- 57:24Speaker 4: you should be at a point where you're ready to
- 57:25Speaker 4: win some games. I think what people are concerned about
- 57:29Speaker 4: is they feel like there are teams in the conference,
- 57:31Speaker 4: specifically in the division, that are ahead of them. That's
- 57:34Speaker 4: what I mean, that's the problem.
- 57:36Speaker 5: I think coping.
- 57:37Speaker 4: I don't know if it's like if you're in the NFC,
- 57:40Speaker 4: I think you would be much more bullish on the page.
- 57:43Speaker 1: That's right. I don't think I don't think maybe you
- 57:46Speaker 1: don't call it rebuilding, but I still think they're trying
- 57:48Speaker 1: to figure out who they have, Like who do we
- 57:50Speaker 1: have at quarterback? Like is this guy good?
- 57:53Speaker 4: Right? And that's so I'm not happy because we have
- 57:55Speaker 4: a bad schedule, like a tough schedule because of that,
- 57:58Speaker 4: I agree with you, but that's why I don't think
- 58:00Speaker 4: they're gonna do well.
- 58:01Speaker 1: But how many times, like whether it was last year
- 58:03Speaker 1: or the year before, where we said, yeah, they they
- 58:06Speaker 1: beat the Ravens. But are they beat the Titans, but
- 58:09Speaker 1: they beat them without Derrick Henry? You know they are
- 58:11Speaker 1: they beat this team without that?
- 58:12Speaker 6: You know?
- 58:14Speaker 1: No, I know, But like I think the writer's point is,
- 58:19Speaker 1: assuming you know, health is is you know, fairly good
- 58:22Speaker 1: for both teams, that you're not going to be hide
- 58:25Speaker 1: behind a poor opponent. And and you know, I'm not
- 58:28Speaker 1: get any paper wins.
- 58:29Speaker 4: But he's okay with that because they're not expecting to win.
- 58:32Speaker 4: I don't really understand that mentality, that's all. Yeah, but yeah,
- 58:37Speaker 4: I'm not trying to pick on the email. I get
- 58:39Speaker 4: point is, I don't go into a season saying, oh,
- 58:41Speaker 4: I'm okay if we don't beat all these teams that
- 58:44Speaker 4: I think are better than us, because we're not supposed
- 58:45Speaker 4: to be as good as that. I think we are
- 58:47Speaker 4: supposed to be as good as that.
- 58:48Speaker 1: I think at the end of the end of the day,
- 58:50Speaker 1: his blessing, as he calls it, is that we should
- 58:53Speaker 1: have a very clear picture of who this team is
- 58:56Speaker 1: at the end of the year. They could be a
- 58:57Speaker 1: really good team or they could be a really bad team.
- 59:00Speaker 1: He doesn't know.
- 59:00Speaker 6: It sounds great in theory. I just I think all
- 59:02Speaker 6: this like talk about what they give me. The media
- 59:04Speaker 6: schedule is going to be, like it really only matters
- 59:06Speaker 6: like the first couple of weeks, Like I don't know,
- 59:08Speaker 6: I look at Philadelphia, they'll probably be a lot of
- 59:10Speaker 6: the same kind of team that they were. But like
- 59:12Speaker 6: once you get into November December, these are different teams
- 59:14Speaker 6: than what we're talking about now, Like on paper what
- 59:17Speaker 6: these teams look like as looking ahead, Like I don't know.
- 59:20Speaker 6: I mean, you know, you said, like how different it is.
- 59:22Speaker 6: I do like the fact that at least.
- 59:23Speaker 1: On paper, you're gonna see the Chiefs.
- 59:25Speaker 6: You're gonna you know. But to Paul's point, all I
- 59:27Speaker 6: really need is.
- 59:28Speaker 1: The AFC East, Like beat those teams.
- 59:30Speaker 6: That's that's my measuring bar that I just don't understand.
- 59:33Speaker 4: Like to me, it's not even about the schedule or
- 59:35Speaker 4: how much better or worse I think other teams are.
- 59:37Speaker 4: I don't know why you would go in year four
- 59:39Speaker 4: Like to me, this is year four of a process
- 59:42Speaker 4: saying well, we're not going to be that good anyway,
- 59:44Speaker 4: because we're not. We're not supposed to be at that
- 59:46Speaker 4: level yet, Yeah you are, you should be better, right, Yeah,
- 59:50Speaker 4: we should be a sending at this point and I'm
- 59:53Speaker 4: not telling you you're not. But I don't know why
- 59:55Speaker 4: you would go in saying I don't mind that we're
- 59:57Speaker 4: playing hard teams because I didn't expect to. And even
- 1:00:00Speaker 4: if we were playing bad teams, because we're rebuilding. That's
- 1:00:03Speaker 4: the part that I don't get. They should be at
- 1:00:05Speaker 4: a level, Like I said, third year for your starting quarterback,
- 1:00:08Speaker 4: fourth year post Brady, you shouldn't be looking at this well,
- 1:00:12Speaker 4: it's just you know, well, but just year four of us.
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: Maybe saying I do expect to beat the bad teams.
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: But that's not a good measuring stick, you know, it's
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: what happens.
- 1:00:21Speaker 4: He's clearly not expecting to beat the good teams. That's
- 1:00:24Speaker 4: part of what his emails he wanted. I know he
- 1:00:26Speaker 4: had a hard time writing it.
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I think he wants to see, like, how do
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: you compete with the best? Bradley writes in I remember
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: Evan seemed to notice toward the end of last year,
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: Max mechanics are throwing the ball were starting to fade.
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: I'm curious, from what you guys have seen in OTAs,
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: has he tightened those mechanics up. Are those still a
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: concern going into this year? And if so who would
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: he work with in terms of general QB mechanics.
- 1:00:52Speaker 5: Well, there's no He's in a red jersey and there's
- 1:00:55Speaker 5: no real pressure on him yet, So it's kind of hard.
- 1:00:58Speaker 5: If your mechanics don't look good in the spring, then
- 1:01:01Speaker 5: you just have bad mechanics, right, and I and Ma's
- 1:01:03Speaker 5: not in that category, so it's always gonna look decent
- 1:01:07Speaker 5: at this time of year. He's he's always worked with
- 1:01:10Speaker 5: with Coach d his own quarterbacks coach, going back to
- 1:01:14Speaker 5: like middle school. I think that he's worked with. Obviously,
- 1:01:17Speaker 5: the big one around here is Tom House, who worked
- 1:01:21Speaker 5: with Brady. You know, there's other guys that Matt Mahomes
- 1:01:24Speaker 5: has a guy, Quincy Avery's another one of them. He's
- 1:01:27Speaker 5: pretty active on Twitter, so that there's a bunch of
- 1:01:29Speaker 5: quarterback you know, Jordan Palmer, like, there's a bunch of
- 1:01:31Speaker 5: quarterback gurus that that work on these types of things.
- 1:01:34Speaker 5: But you can't really assess his footworkers mechanics until he's
- 1:01:38Speaker 5: in a live pocket. And in that point, I.
- 1:01:41Speaker 6: Would just say I caught him a couple of times
- 1:01:43Speaker 6: today just having fun, you know, like he just was
- 1:01:45Speaker 6: out there kind of goofing around a little bit. I mean,
- 1:01:47Speaker 6: he's certainly locked in when he's in the drills, but
- 1:01:49Speaker 6: just something certainly didn't stand out to me last year
- 1:01:51Speaker 6: was him kind of goofing around having a moment. We
- 1:01:53Speaker 6: saw one time he sprinted like and he might have
- 1:01:54Speaker 6: been on the wrong field. He sprinted over to the
- 1:01:56Speaker 6: other side like. Its just it doesn't look like Mac
- 1:01:58Speaker 6: with the weight of the world on his shoulders. It
- 1:02:00Speaker 6: looks like Mac who is having fun and feels like
- 1:02:03Speaker 6: he's got you a component.
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: Is nothing like a couple tailor swift concerts to loosen
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: you up. I wouldn't know, but I guess all right,
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: we're gonna take a break when we come back. More

- 1:07:46Speaker 2: And Now great moments in.
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: History.
- 1:07:51Speaker 5: I'll tell you a quick story story time. And it
- 1:07:55Speaker 5: was at my dad's cousin's wedding, and my parents tell
- 1:08:00Speaker 5: the story better than me. But I was in a
- 1:08:02Speaker 5: group of people and we were arguing Celtics Nicks at
- 1:08:05Speaker 5: the time, like that was you know something that was
- 1:08:08Speaker 5: the Knicks were actually good back then or something.
- 1:08:10Speaker 15: It was.
- 1:08:10Speaker 5: It was enough of a rival really to argue about it.
- 1:08:13Speaker 5: And my parents were somewhere else and I was there
- 1:08:15Speaker 5: by myself and my parents, like over here, somebody being like, yeah,
- 1:08:21Speaker 5: there's there's this kid in the other room and he's
- 1:08:23Speaker 5: like going toe to toe with the adults about about sports,
- 1:08:27Speaker 5: and he's he knows what he's talking about, but you know,
- 1:08:30Speaker 5: it's I think it's getting under some people's skins. And
- 1:08:32Speaker 5: my dad just looks at my mom and goes, I'll
- 1:08:34Speaker 5: be right back, and goes, And I'm just sitting in
- 1:08:37Speaker 5: there holding court, like all these people are around me,
- 1:08:40Speaker 5: and I'm just like telling them that, you know, they're
- 1:08:42Speaker 5: idiots or whatever.
- 1:08:43Speaker 6: So you go YouTube channel.
- 1:08:46Speaker 5: This was born, you know, I was born like this.
- 1:08:48Speaker 5: I'm sorry.
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: That's another great moment from you know, Evan about you
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: were right, though your dad probably did tell that story better.
- 1:08:57Speaker 5: Than I was probably five, so shut up, guys all.
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: So you were holding court at five, Oh yeah, he's
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: like Jesus Like when Jesus was a kid, I was
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: just breaking down the twenty ten. He would like argue
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: with all the rabbis and stuff. So that's that's that's
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: like Evan.
- 1:09:18Speaker 5: Yeah, I used to go to bars and restaurants to
- 1:09:21Speaker 5: like watch TV, you know, the TVs at the bars,
- 1:09:23Speaker 5: and I would get into it with like these grown
- 1:09:26Speaker 5: men over.
- 1:09:27Speaker 10: I like it.
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: I love it. Yeah, it's like that since he was born,
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: my dad said. But like he would take me to
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: the barber shop and I'd sit down and I'd recite
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: all the names of the Giants offensive line. It was
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: like Robistelli and all these guys, and you know, the
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: barbers would all laugh and everything.
- 1:09:43Speaker 6: It's so funny how you can do that.
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: I have no recollection of it whatsoever.
- 1:09:46Speaker 6: Like I remember as a kid, I could name so
- 1:09:48Speaker 6: many players from every sport, and now I'm just like, who, Like,
- 1:09:52Speaker 6: I don't know anybody. I don't I don't know. Maybe
- 1:09:53Speaker 6: because I think he was starting nine sports on every
- 1:09:56Speaker 6: Major League Baseball team.
- 1:09:57Speaker 4: From me, probably be a baseball car. I probably could
- 1:09:59Speaker 4: have told the stats. Do you think it's just because
- 1:10:02Speaker 4: you had less stuff in your head so you can retain.
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: No, I think it was the things that you were
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: most interested in.
- 1:10:07Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:10:08Speaker 6: I'd also watch like Sports Center like four times, you know,
- 1:10:10Speaker 6: like I'd watched the same Sports Center two or three
- 1:10:12Speaker 6: times talking.
- 1:10:13Speaker 4: About I'm talking about yeah TV.
- 1:10:16Speaker 5: Back then, I used to play like trivia, you know,
- 1:10:19Speaker 5: like name trivia, and like you'd have to name a
- 1:10:21Speaker 5: player on like every team or something like that, and
- 1:10:24Speaker 5: absolutely stuff like that.
- 1:10:25Speaker 6: We had a thing where I knew all the backup
- 1:10:26Speaker 6: goalies in the NHL, and people were getting a kick
- 1:10:28Speaker 6: out of it, and they just were throwing them at
- 1:10:29Speaker 6: me and I was just ralling them off. I couldn't
- 1:10:31Speaker 6: tell you, kind of like the.
- 1:10:32Speaker 4: Stupid number thing that they do to me and stuff
- 1:10:34Speaker 4: like that.
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: I don't know why.
- 1:10:36Speaker 4: A gift we used to do like wiffleball leagues and
- 1:10:39Speaker 4: everybody had the various helmets and that was the team
- 1:10:42Speaker 4: that you played as whatever helmet you wore, Yeah, and
- 1:10:45Speaker 4: then you batted right of your lefty, depending on the
- 1:10:48Speaker 4: order of the team, what the batting order was. You know,
- 1:10:52Speaker 4: like yeah, you'd be.
- 1:10:54Speaker 6: Like Jim Rice. I'm like, I'm in the right area, right,
- 1:10:57Speaker 6: Jim Rice.
- 1:10:57Speaker 4: Well that's a little easier when you had the Red Sox,
- 1:10:59Speaker 4: everybody knew the Red Sox lineup. But you know when
- 1:11:02Speaker 4: you're going like you know Kansas City and it's like
- 1:11:05Speaker 4: Ul Washington and Frank White now know Hal McCrae, and
- 1:11:09Speaker 4: you had a like which wait, they were all right,
- 1:11:12Speaker 4: those were all right handed batters. The William L. Washington
- 1:11:15Speaker 4: May have been a switch hitter.
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: I'm not sure, all right, I remember eighth five five
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: past five hundred is the ACE ticket hut Line web
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: radio at Patriots dot Com. Martin writes in he says,
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: let's stop pining over thirty one year old year roles
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: that have health, drug and attitudes. He's talking about d Hop.
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: We have enough quality wide receivers in house that we
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: don't need to use what money we have left over
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: to sign him. I think I'm just saying, you have Watson,
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: uh Deshaun Watson throwing the rock and quarter uh O'Dell
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: Beckham running the offense, and still he had to leave Houston.
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: Then he's in Arizona with rai's and pay and has
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: health problems and now is out of a quarter. I
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: don't know these people. I would rather develop the players
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: we have and save the cash till after training camp
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: in case of j or surprise cut brings about another
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: Gem Agent receiver if we still can't get production, what
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: teams do?
- 1:12:05Speaker 5: They usually cut their good receivers at the end of
- 1:12:08Speaker 5: training camp and they become available, right. That's that's how
- 1:12:11Speaker 5: I hear that's common.
- 1:12:12Speaker 6: I mean, I'm not really worried about the money, but
- 1:12:14Speaker 6: I hear the general sentiment, and I think, like my
- 1:12:16Speaker 6: biggest fear would be that you know that somehow this
- 1:12:19Speaker 6: might affect Taekwon Thornton's opportunities, and you know, are you
- 1:12:21Speaker 6: gonna hinder his development?
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: Question? Do you feel the same way about the Patriots
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: receiving room today as you did at the end of
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: last season? Feeling like they need more there?
- 1:12:36Speaker 6: Pretty much? I mean, I I I'm a little intrigued
- 1:12:38Speaker 6: by Kasiki, I'm a little intrigued by Juju, and I'm
- 1:12:40Speaker 6: a little intrigued by Thornton. But am I is it
- 1:12:42Speaker 6: going to be enough? I can't really say that. I
- 1:12:45Speaker 6: feel that I agree with Mike. I feel like they
- 1:12:47Speaker 6: need more, but I don't know if the Popkins is
- 1:12:50Speaker 6: the more.
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: I don't.
- 1:12:51Speaker 4: Yeah, maybe I agree with everything that you, Mike, you
- 1:12:55Speaker 4: and Evan said earlier about Hopkins. I think he's better
- 1:12:57Speaker 4: than Parker, and you guys know, I'm a little luke
- 1:13:00Speaker 4: home on Parker, and I think his availability is probably
- 1:13:03Speaker 4: what I'm most luke warmer about. But I just don't
- 1:13:08Speaker 4: know if that's a huge difference maker, like going from
- 1:13:12Speaker 4: what I think he's better. In other words, I've I've
- 1:13:15Speaker 4: talked a lot about Juju Smith, Schuster and Jacoby Myers.
- 1:13:17Speaker 4: I think a very similar players. I think there's a
- 1:13:20Speaker 4: bigger gap between Hopkins and Parker. Yeah, if that makes
- 1:13:23Speaker 4: any sense.
- 1:13:24Speaker 5: This this grinds my gears about Patriots fans because I
- 1:13:29Speaker 5: blame Bill, because I think Bill has convinced Patriots fans
- 1:13:33Speaker 5: that receivers are a diamond dozen. He has convinced them
- 1:13:37Speaker 5: that they can just go ahead like they used to
- 1:13:40Speaker 5: at some points in time within the dynasty when it
- 1:13:43Speaker 5: was you know, Troy Brown and David Gibbons and David Patton,
- 1:13:46Speaker 5: and it wasn't this like star studded receiving group. And
- 1:13:49Speaker 5: they think that that's going to win football games in
- 1:13:53Speaker 5: twenty twenty three. Where the rest of the league is
- 1:13:56Speaker 5: doing isn't an arms race, Like they're doing everything in
- 1:13:59Speaker 5: their power to get good receivers in the building. And
- 1:14:04Speaker 5: you hear Patriots fans a lot of the time be
- 1:14:06Speaker 5: like I don't want the number one, Like I don't
- 1:14:09Speaker 5: want that guy.
- 1:14:10Speaker 6: I'd save the money.
- 1:14:12Speaker 5: Let's spread the ball around, like you know, throw what
- 1:14:14Speaker 5: happened to throwing to the open man?
- 1:14:17Speaker 4: Save the money thing? I know, I say this all
- 1:14:19Speaker 4: the time, and I'm probably wrong. I feel like to
- 1:14:21Speaker 4: save the money thing has permeated Boston sports and it
- 1:14:25Speaker 4: drives me in saying I'll never understand why fans are
- 1:14:29Speaker 4: concerned about how much money their owners make. I never
- 1:14:33Speaker 4: get it. They're completely infatuated with it. If you think
- 1:14:36Speaker 4: a guy can help your team, I don't know why
- 1:14:38Speaker 4: you wouldn't want you to. Like I think two weeks ago,
- 1:14:40Speaker 4: Evan said, this is perfect. You have the money, go
- 1:14:44Speaker 4: out and be aggressive. Sign this guy. That's the mentality
- 1:14:48Speaker 4: that I would always want to have as a fan.
- 1:14:50Speaker 4: I'm not telling you this is the guy, but I'm saying,
- 1:14:53Speaker 4: don't make him not be the guy because you just
- 1:14:55Speaker 4: don't think he's worth that money. I'll tell you i'd
- 1:14:58Speaker 4: want him on my team. I think he'd helped my
- 1:14:59Speaker 4: team at three million, not at ten million. I hate that.
- 1:15:03Speaker 5: I hate that mentality. And you also just have the people.
- 1:15:05Speaker 5: How many times have we gotten calls or emails into
- 1:15:07Speaker 5: the mail bag of they just have too many receivers
- 1:15:10Speaker 5: like something like Kendrick Bourne to somebody's got to go.
- 1:15:14Speaker 5: It's like they're not in a position to be cutting
- 1:15:17Speaker 5: NFL receivers like Kendrick Bourne is an NFL receiver, Like,
- 1:15:20Speaker 5: unless you're telling me that they have DeAndre Hopkins and
- 1:15:23Speaker 5: Bolt the rookies pop and Malie Cunningham turns it like,
- 1:15:26Speaker 5: at least you're telling me that they all of a
- 1:15:28Speaker 5: sudden go from this to an embarrassment of riches. Why
- 1:15:30Speaker 5: are we Jennison Kendrick Bourne like he's a good player,
- 1:15:34Speaker 5: Like there's no reason to be throwing him away. I
- 1:15:37Speaker 5: just there the warp perception of the wide receiver position
- 1:15:40Speaker 5: is it's trying.
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: Josha Dallas thinks the Patriots been making a big mistake
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: if they don't sign Hopkins. But he wonders, does Billy
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: O'Brien want him back?
- 1:15:50Speaker 6: I mean, it sounds like from reports that that he does,
- 1:15:53Speaker 6: or that you know, he'd be open to it.
- 1:15:54Speaker 4: So I don't know.
- 1:15:55Speaker 6: I mean, I think I think everything you know Paul
- 1:15:57Speaker 6: said is valid about you know, does he still have it?
- 1:16:00Speaker 6: How much does he really actually move the needle? How
- 1:16:02Speaker 6: much are we, you know, fantasizing that he's still a
- 1:16:04Speaker 6: player that he might not be, but considering what they have,
- 1:16:07Speaker 6: I just I don't really see the risk in it.
- 1:16:09Speaker 6: And you know, I think to Paul, I was sinking
- 1:16:12Speaker 6: about this a little bit with Parker, Like I've been
- 1:16:13Speaker 6: struggling trying to pin Parker down. I think he would
- 1:16:16Speaker 6: have been perfect as like Brendon Lafel, like when they
- 1:16:19Speaker 6: had kind of the interior guys, like just that complimentary
- 1:16:22Speaker 6: piece on the outside that you know, can go down,
- 1:16:24Speaker 6: can stretch the field a little bit, can go up
- 1:16:26Speaker 6: and get some contested catches, you know, can have some
- 1:16:28Speaker 6: catch and run ability. But you know, I just think
- 1:16:31Speaker 6: trying to make him the guy, it's just a volume issue.
- 1:16:34Speaker 6: I don't think he's ever going to be a high volume,
- 1:16:36Speaker 6: you know guy. He's a complimentary piece when you've got
- 1:16:39Speaker 6: the inside pieces, and I think that's all he kind
- 1:16:41Speaker 6: of is.
- 1:16:41Speaker 5: We just talk a lot about like who's like the
- 1:16:43Speaker 5: Tuesday player on the Patriots, Like when you get into
- 1:16:46Speaker 5: a meeting room for an opposing defense, who's the guy
- 1:16:48Speaker 5: that you're circling and they have some depth, they have
- 1:16:51Speaker 5: some nice pieces, like you just kind of broke down
- 1:16:53Speaker 5: DeVante Parker. I think a lot of guys fit that,
- 1:16:56Speaker 5: but they still don't have that player where the coverage
- 1:16:59Speaker 5: needs to tilt in that direction or we're gonna put
- 1:17:02Speaker 5: our number one guy on DeAndre Hopkins because he's that good.
- 1:17:07Speaker 5: And even if Hopkins just draws that attention just because
- 1:17:10Speaker 5: he's DeAndre Hopkins, that just opens up everything else for everything,
- 1:17:15Speaker 5: for everybody else. So it's not even necessarily just what
- 1:17:18Speaker 5: does Hopkins bring to the table and the production that
- 1:17:20Speaker 5: he brings to the table, it's the trickle down effect
- 1:17:23Speaker 5: on what that's going to open up for the other
- 1:17:25Speaker 5: guys that are also going to be out there. That's why,
- 1:17:27Speaker 5: like Taekwon, I wouldn't be worried about Taekwon pairing with Hopkins.
- 1:17:31Speaker 5: I'd be excited about Taekwon pairing with Hopkins because it's
- 1:17:35Speaker 5: a complimentary player. So I think that they're still missing
- 1:17:38Speaker 5: that piece, and just at a name recognition alone, I'm
- 1:17:41Speaker 5: telling you, teams are going to come into those meeting
- 1:17:43Speaker 5: rooms and be like, well if they still have DeAndre Hopkins,
- 1:17:45Speaker 5: Like whether he's putting up numbers or not, I.
- 1:17:47Speaker 6: Think he touched on it to him and it's just
- 1:17:49Speaker 6: like it's not the actual football of it all, but
- 1:17:51Speaker 6: just I mean to generate some buzz going into camp.
- 1:17:54Speaker 6: I mean, I don't think that that's something you can
- 1:17:55Speaker 6: just ignore and say isn't important to put some butts
- 1:17:58Speaker 6: in the seats to build a little buzz for this
- 1:18:00Speaker 6: Patriots team, you know, after a pretty good offseason, at
- 1:18:02Speaker 6: least as far as the draft goes. I think, you know,
- 1:18:04Speaker 6: that would help.
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: To speed rights in and Fresnoe Fred with the fatherly
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: advice about being in bed by midnight and Paul with
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: the casual porn hub shout out good stuff, classic working Blue.
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: Wonder if Hopkins getting popped for peds has teams wondering
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: whether he can't perform at a high level without the jews.
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: I wondered the same thing about Edelman when he got caught.
- 1:18:26Speaker 6: Was that Now was he coming off an injury or something?
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: Is it like Edelman was?
- 1:18:30Speaker 6: Edelman was like he would like this speculation b he's using.
- 1:18:33Speaker 4: Does it matter to get No, it doesn't, Like you know, Harris,
- 1:18:36Speaker 4: this isn't another one of those things that like you
- 1:18:39Speaker 4: believe in, like the right fifture Santa Claus things. Is
- 1:18:42Speaker 4: it you think that guys take so they can get
- 1:18:45Speaker 4: get back from injuries faster? No?
- 1:18:47Speaker 6: Well that, but isn't that what Edelman did? Like that's
- 1:18:49Speaker 6: what I was always talking different. He said, you know,
- 1:18:51Speaker 6: I don't know, is there a line does it matter.
- 1:18:53Speaker 6: I guess that's your point, right, Does it matter if
- 1:18:55Speaker 6: you're taking him to get back faster if you're just
- 1:18:57Speaker 6: permanently on them.
- 1:18:58Speaker 4: Oh and one of my favorite patriots of all time,
- 1:19:00Speaker 4: that was his excuse, Rodney, Yeah, that's what he said.
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: You know the HGH with me right right right right,
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: Shoddy from Houston. Did the fellow who didn't want Hopkins
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: because of his drug suspension also want Edelman cut before
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: the eighteen season brain Dead takes like that or why
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: we are stuck with Miami's third choice wide receiver as
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: our primary number one? Wow?
- 1:19:20Speaker 4: That is funny.
- 1:19:21Speaker 6: But I will say I think you know, you talk
- 1:19:22Speaker 6: about game planning and stuff like, you know, what, what
- 1:19:24Speaker 6: do they got in store with Kaziki and Henry and
- 1:19:27Speaker 6: I mean they seem both very involved, and you know,
- 1:19:30Speaker 6: is there enough there to mind to really create something
- 1:19:33Speaker 6: like you were talking about Evan of Yeah, you know,
- 1:19:36Speaker 6: not necessarily like oh god, we gotta figure out Kasicki,
- 1:19:38Speaker 6: but just that this two tight end thing is kind
- 1:19:40Speaker 6: of an issue and we need to figure out how
- 1:19:41Speaker 6: we're going to match up with this. You know, when
- 1:19:43Speaker 6: they go into that and you know, what can they
- 1:19:45Speaker 6: do from it? You know, is it going to be
- 1:19:46Speaker 6: like twenty twelve when they were, you know, trying to
- 1:19:48Speaker 6: speed things up and go faster. I mean that was
- 1:19:50Speaker 6: a nice little twist they had coming off of the
- 1:19:52Speaker 6: off of the lockout. So those are the twists that
- 1:19:55Speaker 6: I'm exciting y.
- 1:19:56Speaker 5: I think, like just that's what got me so excited
- 1:19:58Speaker 5: last week about Taekwond's practices. It's a spring practice with
- 1:20:02Speaker 5: no pads, Like we're not getting too far ahead of ourselves,
- 1:20:05Speaker 5: but he's the guy that has the talent to break
- 1:20:09Speaker 5: out and elevate the rest of the group. Like I
- 1:20:11Speaker 5: think everybody else is kind of do you already know
- 1:20:14Speaker 5: what they are? Right? They're all just they're veteran guys.
- 1:20:16Speaker 5: They've been around the league for a while. You know
- 1:20:18Speaker 5: who everybody is. The person that can really take it
- 1:20:22Speaker 5: to that next level is somebody like Taekwon. And I
- 1:20:24Speaker 5: think the tight ends, if it's even if Hopkins isn't here,
- 1:20:27Speaker 5: the tight ends being in the middle of the field
- 1:20:29Speaker 5: with Juju, I think at least opens up the fact
- 1:20:31Speaker 5: that he's going to get some one on one opportunities
- 1:20:34Speaker 5: down the field, And that's all you can really ask for.
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: Scott's and Wellesley on the aceticke A Hotline. What's up, Scott, Hey.
- 1:20:41Speaker 17: Guys, I want to wish Paul a happy birthday.
- 1:20:43Speaker 4: You know, Today's birthday, Paul Sunday. Sunday was supposed to
- 1:20:48Speaker 4: bring them in.
- 1:20:49Speaker 17: And also I enjoyed listening to Paul reminists about playing
- 1:20:52Speaker 17: whipplebomb be each player, I mean, the two best guys
- 1:20:54Speaker 17: to imitate where he has in present, Paul, don't you agree?
- 1:20:58Speaker 4: Uh yeah, the high bat over his head, yeah, they're
- 1:21:02Speaker 4: good ones. But you could do Rick Burlson with the lean, yeah,
- 1:21:06Speaker 4: you could do it was the thing to do, right.
- 1:21:08Speaker 17: You could also do problem fisted when he put his
- 1:21:10Speaker 17: arms up over his head, you know, to get ready
- 1:21:12Speaker 17: and forever.
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: But I used to do Jill Morgan like he snapped
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: the elbow against his side just before.
- 1:21:18Speaker 4: Or after you were like a Mets fan. The Mets
- 1:21:21Speaker 4: win the title, that the Reds back then, Scott, I
- 1:21:24Speaker 4: don't know if you know, but Fred just likes every
- 1:21:25Speaker 4: team that wins the title.
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: Shout out those.
- 1:21:30Speaker 17: You know, get into the Patriots. I can't believe we're
- 1:21:32Speaker 17: even debating whether DeAndre Hopkins is a good fit for
- 1:21:35Speaker 17: this team. I mean, last year is first of all,
- 1:21:37Speaker 17: anyone who's concerned about the pe ds. That's chilly to
- 1:21:40Speaker 17: be concerned about that, because it's not like he's going
- 1:21:42Speaker 17: to stop taking them. He's just hopefully he just won't
- 1:21:44Speaker 17: get put So in some ways it's good because he shouldn't.
- 1:21:48Speaker 17: He shouldn't get old quick Bay some of the guys
- 1:21:50Speaker 17: who are actually not cheating, you know, in terms of
- 1:21:54Speaker 17: like you know, they hid twelve for one, fifty nine
- 1:21:56Speaker 17: against the Biking, ten for one or three against New Orleans.
- 1:21:59Speaker 17: And if you look at his targets last year he
- 1:22:02Speaker 17: had double digit targets. They were with terrible quarterbacks showing
- 1:22:05Speaker 17: him the ball. Yeah, you worry about Jornton's world, and
- 1:22:10Speaker 17: this is the guy who's what one hundred and sixty pounds,
- 1:22:13Speaker 17: and you don't want to bring in a guy who would.
- 1:22:15Speaker 10: Clearly be your number one receiver.
- 1:22:17Speaker 17: Is really I just I find that really odd, And
- 1:22:20Speaker 17: I don't like Paul. I couldn't care less about the money.
- 1:22:22Speaker 17: I want to see this team make the playoffs and
- 1:22:24Speaker 17: get better. So I'm just curious about what your thoughts
- 1:22:28Speaker 17: to worry about that, and I want to test predator.
- 1:22:30Speaker 17: Phill O'Brien questioned, Yeah, I think.
- 1:22:34Speaker 4: The panel is largely in agreement with you. You know, Evan,
- 1:22:38Speaker 4: especially about DeAndre Hopkins. I think he's better than Parker,
- 1:22:41Speaker 4: and I don't see why you bring him in. Wouldn't
- 1:22:43Speaker 4: be interested in bringing him in.
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: I would have rather had Jerry Judy, but he's not.
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: We're not getting him. Bring him in. Bring in Hopkins. Yep,
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: let's go to Jerry in North Carolina. What's up?
- 1:22:55Speaker 10: Jerry was going on everybody, Hey, Jerry, I got a
- 1:23:00Speaker 10: little rant to go on. I appreciate Evan for being
- 1:23:04Speaker 10: in his dog bag because he's going off on these
- 1:23:08Speaker 10: crazy fans, Like I don't understand how it makes sense
- 1:23:11Speaker 10: to people not to sign DeAndre Hopkins and saying he's
- 1:23:14Speaker 10: not a good fit when we have people here that
- 1:23:16Speaker 10: don't even see the still.
- 1:23:18Speaker 4: Is anybody said he's not a good fit or people
- 1:23:20Speaker 4: wondering if he still has go ahead, Like, I don't
- 1:23:25Speaker 4: really hear a lot of people saying he's not a
- 1:23:26Speaker 4: good fit. I hear people wondering if he can run
- 1:23:29Speaker 4: anymore because a lot of the national guys have sort
- 1:23:35Speaker 4: of pulled some some personnel people around the league, and
- 1:23:38Speaker 4: there are questions of whether or not he runs as
- 1:23:40Speaker 4: well as he once did, and if maybe the the
- 1:23:43Speaker 4: end is going to come quickly for him as a result,
- 1:23:47Speaker 4: Like but that, that's that's where I think people are wondering.
- 1:23:49Speaker 10: About we don't need him to run whell, we just
- 1:23:53Speaker 10: need him to be a decoy to get taekwon open.
- 1:23:56Speaker 4: Well, you're not going to be he can't run.
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: Need more than that. I don't want to just come
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: here and be a decoy.
- 1:24:02Speaker 4: I want him to You're not going to be a
- 1:24:04Speaker 4: decoy if you can't run, Like people will realize.
- 1:24:10Speaker 10: He caught a lot of like double coverage last year,
- 1:24:14Speaker 10: even with him being out, he was still almost a
- 1:24:18Speaker 10: thousand yards. Well, then I don't understand how that doesn't
- 1:24:20Speaker 10: make sense.
- 1:24:21Speaker 4: Yeah, oh, I think we I think we think it
- 1:24:23Speaker 4: does make sense. But I'm saying I haven't heard a
- 1:24:26Speaker 4: lot of people say he's not a good fit, Like
- 1:24:28Speaker 4: he's not a good fit in this offense. I haven't
- 1:24:30Speaker 4: heard that. I've heard people wondering if you if you
- 1:24:32Speaker 4: could still play at a high level.
- 1:24:34Speaker 10: Yeah, okay, And so my next thing is, is there
- 1:24:37Speaker 10: any way we can get Paul's face on a T
- 1:24:40Speaker 10: shirt that says what are we doing here? I would
- 1:24:45Speaker 10: definitely bet that shirt.
- 1:24:48Speaker 4: Wow, Jerry, I love you.
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: Around North Carolina with a shirt. Who is that guy? Right?
- 1:24:56Speaker 4: Might have Grandpa on your shirt.
- 1:24:58Speaker 6: You'd be surprised. You might be in a random barn,
- 1:25:00Speaker 6: Tennessee and all of a sudden there's some super fans there.
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: Mike knows, Mike the hop Let's see Tim. Our friend
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: from Duncan writes in I'm hearing all of the Hopkins
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: talk so quick question. I know you believe they should,
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: but do you think the Patriots will be the team
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: that signs him? Yes, you're saying.
- 1:25:20Speaker 5: That, I'm believing. I'm like getting there too, dude.
- 1:25:22Speaker 6: I just everything you said.
- 1:25:25Speaker 4: It's just like.
- 1:25:27Speaker 5: I don't know if Hopkins wants it. I don't know
- 1:25:29Speaker 5: if deep down the Patriots really want it. But there's
- 1:25:31Speaker 5: no like when the music stops, like it's the only
- 1:25:34Speaker 5: chair left, like it's the everybody else has already made
- 1:25:37Speaker 5: their moves, right like Buffalo drafted Dalton Kincaid. The Chiefs
- 1:25:42Speaker 5: are just gonna let Patrick Mahomes fix everything, like everybody
- 1:25:45Speaker 5: else has seemed to already have our you know, played
- 1:25:47Speaker 5: their hand this offseason kind of except for the Patriots,
- 1:25:52Speaker 5: like they haven't really made that big splash. Yet, and
- 1:25:55Speaker 5: it's like musical chairs, like once it stops, there's two
- 1:25:58Speaker 5: chairs left.
- 1:26:00Speaker 6: Talking about the potential of this happening like immediately to
- 1:26:03Speaker 6: start the off season, like this is Judy. I mean,
- 1:26:05Speaker 6: all those things were what we've been talking about. I
- 1:26:07Speaker 6: mean maybe I'm you know, being a little overly optimistic
- 1:26:10Speaker 6: on it, but I just everything you said, it's just
- 1:26:12Speaker 6: it feels like it might happen.
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: Well, how like if you're playing kind of that braksmanship
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: type of you know, strategy, how long do you wait
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: if you're the Patriots, you know, like because you know,
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: you figure the longer you wait till the more the
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: price goes down a little bit. You know, So how
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: long are you willing to risk it and wait, you know,
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: get them in the hope that some other team doesn't
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: swoop in.
- 1:26:35Speaker 6: Well, the report was he was going to visit this week.
- 1:26:37Speaker 6: I don't know. I'd wait till next week. I'd get
- 1:26:38Speaker 6: through everybody, get through many camps, OTAs, like all the
- 1:26:41Speaker 6: off season stuff is done. So he's really any team
- 1:26:44Speaker 6: he goes to, he's not jumping in and you know,
- 1:26:46Speaker 6: and then make the offer, you know, around when they
- 1:26:48Speaker 6: signed it, I.
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: Can see them waiting until training camp.
- 1:26:50Speaker 4: Yeah. See, my feeling is and I understand the what
- 1:26:55Speaker 4: Mike's point about the musical chairs and all that stuff,
- 1:26:59Speaker 4: like you said earlier on the show. But I thought
- 1:27:01Speaker 4: you said it earlier in the show about like it's
- 1:27:03Speaker 4: gonna musical chairs. Okay, all right, Evans point. Evans point
- 1:27:06Speaker 4: about the musical chairs.
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: I'll just.
- 1:27:11Speaker 4: Is is valid. I think that there's a lot of
- 1:27:15Speaker 4: you know, there's a lot of sense in that. I
- 1:27:18Speaker 4: just feel like if that's the way it goes, then
- 1:27:22Speaker 4: he's gonna look and say, well, if I have to
- 1:27:25Speaker 4: take less to play somewhere, then I'll go to a good,
- 1:27:28Speaker 4: you know, a good team. Like if I'm gonna play
- 1:27:31Speaker 4: for the Patriots, They're gonna pay me. If I'm gonna
- 1:27:34Speaker 4: play for Houston, They're gonna pay me even more. You
- 1:27:38Speaker 4: know what I mean. If I if I'm gonna play
- 1:27:39Speaker 4: for Kansas City, I'll take left. If I'm gonna play
- 1:27:41Speaker 4: for Less, I'll go to the Chiefs. I'll go to
- 1:27:43Speaker 4: the Bills, I'll go to the Cowboys. I'll go someone
- 1:27:45Speaker 4: where I think, you know, might might be able to win.
- 1:27:48Speaker 4: Right now, I'm not saying that I don't think the
- 1:27:50Speaker 4: Patriots can win. I'm trying to put myself and if you.
- 1:27:53Speaker 6: Have your choice.
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: That makes sense, or if I have to take.
- 1:28:00Speaker 4: Less, I'm going to go somewhere like Cleveland where I
- 1:28:02Speaker 4: know the quarterback and I and I love playing for him.
- 1:28:05Speaker 4: You know, I still think that there's a lot of
- 1:28:08Speaker 4: hurdles to jump there.
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: You know, I was thinking about an incentive laden contract
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: where you know, if he catches the ninety passes.
- 1:28:15Speaker 4: He makes the Patriots fan what he makes's just give
- 1:28:19Speaker 4: him incentives.
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: Now he makes a ton of money, But that that's
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: risky because like if it becomes late November and he
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: doesn't have his numbers and he doesn't feel like he's
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: getting his touches, that could be a problem too. So
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: I don't think they can go that way.
- 1:28:31Speaker 6: Yeah, he's he's got to feel like wanted and respected
- 1:28:34Speaker 6: and it's got to be enough of that kind of offer.
- 1:28:36Speaker 6: But I don't know, We'll see. I mean it's I
- 1:28:39Speaker 6: know that Kansas City and Buffalo were initially at the
- 1:28:41Speaker 6: top of the conversation, but now it's Cleveland and Houston
- 1:28:44Speaker 6: or Patriots.
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: The teams that really need, you know, Ray in Saint Louis,
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: what's up? Family says of course there weren't social media
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: back then when we got Moss, So could you explain
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: to me how the media reacted when we got him
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: and how it would compare if we got d hopped
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: good luck? Well, no, no, back then, remember Moss had
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: kind of worn out as welcome.
- 1:29:09Speaker 4: Yeah, there was questions whether or not Mosque still there
- 1:29:11Speaker 4: were similarities.
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: The word dog was used with him, like he was
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: dogging it. He wasn't working hard, and that's why the
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: Patriots got him for fourth round pick.
- 1:29:19Speaker 4: Frankly right, But there were definitely questions whether or not
- 1:29:22Speaker 4: he could still play and if he could still run
- 1:29:24Speaker 4: stuff like that, and Fred's right, the biggest question is
- 1:29:27Speaker 4: whether or not he wanted to play. Yeah, like if
- 1:29:29Speaker 4: he just cared right, how many.
- 1:29:31Speaker 6: Practices did you guys even see him in training? Not
- 1:29:34Speaker 6: a ton like like three, because I remember that crystal
- 1:29:37Speaker 6: clear of him like any it was a hamstring issue.
- 1:29:39Speaker 6: I didn't practice.
- 1:29:40Speaker 4: There was Hettom right in front of the No.
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: One one hand right.
- 1:29:45Speaker 4: No, that was that was against Revas and Jets game.
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: I remember that.
- 1:29:48Speaker 4: That was actually twenty Yeah, that was a different yeah.
- 1:29:52Speaker 4: People think that was Yeah, actually the Patriots lost it.
- 1:29:55Speaker 6: They did that was like the cap off the first half, and.
- 1:29:59Speaker 4: That might have been like the Whiteboard game.
- 1:30:01Speaker 6: No, that was that was twenty ten. This moss one
- 1:30:05Speaker 6: was the twenty ten. Yeah, they took a lead right
- 1:30:08Speaker 6: before half and then and there.
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: Was but anyway, you know seven, like you immediately saw
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: him just beating guys left and right, and then he
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: tweaked something supposedly, and he didn't see him for the
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: rest of camp.
- 1:30:19Speaker 6: But there were rumors that were gonna cut him. I mean,
- 1:30:20Speaker 6: I don't know if it was Florio, it might have been,
- 1:30:23Speaker 6: but I mean until he they unleashed him against the
- 1:30:26Speaker 6: Jets and he just caught that.
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: I don't remember. Were the rumors that he were gonna
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: cut him.
- 1:30:30Speaker 6: I don't remember, seem to remember.
- 1:30:34Speaker 5: Shot.
- 1:30:35Speaker 4: Borges thought there was a I thought there was a
- 1:30:39Speaker 4: chance when we didn't see him, because don't forget, he
- 1:30:44Speaker 4: has a reputation for not wanting to play anymore, like
- 1:30:48Speaker 4: not really working hard anymore, and then he misses the
- 1:30:51Speaker 4: majority of he missed the entire preseason with a hamstring,
- 1:30:55Speaker 4: Like I'm talking like three weeks. What's going on there?
- 1:31:00Speaker 4: Four weeks with a hamstring, And I think Borges sort
- 1:31:04Speaker 4: of was speculating. I don't think he reported that he
- 1:31:07Speaker 4: will be released.
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: Yeah, he was.
- 1:31:09Speaker 4: Speculating that he could be a surprise cut. Well, I
- 1:31:12Speaker 4: I just that was the one that stuck out to
- 1:31:13Speaker 4: me was borgeous. And obviously everybody likes to pick on
- 1:31:16Speaker 4: Borges because you know and all that. Well, I was
- 1:31:20Speaker 4: a David Durell guy, so I can't.
- 1:31:22Speaker 6: But I just remember feeling like there was some uncertainty
- 1:31:24Speaker 6: going in that season of what what was actually going
- 1:31:26Speaker 6: to happen. Then all of a sudden, I was I
- 1:31:28Speaker 6: watched that game at Sonny McLain's Santa Monica and the
- 1:31:30Speaker 6: place just I.
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: Mean, when nobody knew Welker was going to do what
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: he did, and nobody knew that Moss was going to
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: do what he did, and it all just Anyone who
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: said I knew it right away is lying.
- 1:31:41Speaker 6: But you talk like you go back to what me
- 1:31:43Speaker 6: and Evan were talking with with with Hopkins and Thornton though,
- 1:31:45Speaker 6: it's like just talk about such ideal complimentary pieces between
- 1:31:49Speaker 6: Welker and Moss. But also you know, I think O
- 1:31:51Speaker 6: nine showed that having some of those extra pieces too,
- 1:31:54Speaker 6: like you know, made a big difference, Like Jabar Gafne
- 1:31:57Speaker 6: didn't have a ton of catches, but you know Stalwart
- 1:31:58Speaker 6: didn't have a ton of catches either. But you know,
- 1:32:01Speaker 6: some key times and some key games that last year,
- 1:32:03Speaker 6: especially the Ravens with with Gaffney catching that the game
- 1:32:06Speaker 6: when he touched down. But you know, like you had
- 1:32:07Speaker 6: those guys that stepped up something didn't even though they
- 1:32:10Speaker 6: had Moss and Welcome and O nine, they didn't really
- 1:32:12Speaker 6: have like those secondary guys to step up and and
- 1:32:14Speaker 6: fill that.
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: Din't it.
- 1:32:19Speaker 4: His standback?
- 1:32:19Speaker 6: That was he was the one holding with number nine.
- 1:32:22Speaker 4: That was like that was a white board.
- 1:32:23Speaker 6: He was the whiteboard.
- 1:32:24Speaker 4: See, that's that was. That was the prototypical Paul like
- 1:32:28Speaker 4: Isaiah Washington. You know if he went to Washington.
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: It's officially called the grease board the Greaseport, but we
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: called it. You and I called it the white We
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: called it the grease board.
- 1:32:38Speaker 4: Game.
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: I didn't.
- 1:32:39Speaker 4: I called it the white port. Came still do well.
- 1:32:41Speaker 5: It's funny though, because they now have all complimentary pieces,
- 1:32:44Speaker 5: but they don't have a random you know, Parker.
- 1:32:48Speaker 6: Would have been great if you put him one on
- 1:32:51Speaker 6: this team.
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: Yeah, let's see. Brett wants to know, speaking of gambling,
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: are you able to ga or and can you make
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: gambling content? We can make gambling content, but we cannot.
- 1:33:07Speaker 4: Cannot gamble on anything our This is the strangest thing
- 1:33:10Speaker 4: that I've ever heard. Our restrictions are more stringent than
- 1:33:14Speaker 4: the players. The players, as Mike said earlier in the show,
- 1:33:17Speaker 4: can actually bet on other sports, just not from the facility.
- 1:33:21Speaker 5: This time that was me.
- 1:33:23Speaker 4: Okay, Evan said, a tough day because you think, yeah,
- 1:33:29Speaker 4: I'm trying to I'm trying to write too much at
- 1:33:31Speaker 4: the same time, I only have like eight hundred words
- 1:33:34Speaker 4: written to it.
- 1:33:34Speaker 6: Wait, but I want to touch upon this because Evan,
- 1:33:36Speaker 6: I feel like we discussed this with Evans. Evans lady
- 1:33:39Speaker 6: who reviewed some of these, she's she's not a lawyer,
- 1:33:42Speaker 6: but she plays one on TV. This is like kind
- 1:33:44Speaker 6: of seems legally tenuous to say, like to enforce that, like.
- 1:33:48Speaker 4: You know what I mean, like you said a million
- 1:33:49Speaker 4: times like.
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: That we can't.
- 1:33:52Speaker 6: But I couldn't go, like bet on a hockey game.
- 1:33:55Speaker 6: I mean I don't, I won't. I don't know it.
- 1:33:58Speaker 4: There's a difference between doing and I'm just saying like
- 1:34:01Speaker 4: if if I was in you know, some kind of
- 1:34:05Speaker 4: pool and they're making multi billions of dollars off of
- 1:34:09Speaker 4: DraftKings and I can't be in a draft kings pool.
- 1:34:11Speaker 4: That's a tough lawsuit to win when you fired me
- 1:34:13Speaker 4: over it. Now, I'm not going to test it because
- 1:34:16Speaker 4: I'm not an idiot, like I don't have you know, thankfully,
- 1:34:19Speaker 4: I don't have a problem as much as you know.
- 1:34:22Speaker 4: Fred and I like to joke about it. I don't
- 1:34:26Speaker 4: bet on games, and I really haven't for like probably
- 1:34:29Speaker 4: since I was in college. Since seriously, I haven't bet
- 1:34:33Speaker 4: on a game. It's like college.
- 1:34:35Speaker 5: I'm so nervous about the whole thing that, like I
- 1:34:38Speaker 5: don't let just place any bets. I don't place any bets.
- 1:34:41Speaker 5: Like when Bart texts me about about bets, I'm like,
- 1:34:44Speaker 5: stop texting me about bets, Like this is this is
- 1:34:48Speaker 5: no joke. I mean, they're they're getting players left and right.
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: But we can create as much content as we want.
- 1:34:54Speaker 4: Which is hypocritical.
- 1:34:57Speaker 5: Because the league is making money to.
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: That was me not right.
- 1:35:01Speaker 5: We're only making money off gambling, which I don't do.
- 1:35:04Speaker 6: But no, and I'm happy that I never really got
- 1:35:06Speaker 6: into it. I did a little bit of college football
- 1:35:08Speaker 6: back just to but I'm glad now that I never
- 1:35:10Speaker 6: really got into it. I got hooked on it because
- 1:35:12Speaker 6: that would be tough.
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: Yeah, we had a run. I used to live at
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: this apartment on Commab and it was like six bedroom apartment.
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: So like I tried to one day count all the
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: different roommates I had because I lived there for five years,
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: five or six years, and it was like way up there.
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: But for a while we were betting with a bookie
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: and it got a little crazy at one point.
- 1:35:34Speaker 6: Yeah, owe some money.
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: Not me, not me, but like some of the guys.
- 1:35:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:35:40Speaker 6: When I went to my Hope, my recruiting trip at
- 1:35:41Speaker 6: holy Cross, that my guy that I was staying with
- 1:35:43Speaker 6: was on the phone with his bookie the whole weekend long.
- 1:35:45Speaker 6: I'm like, you're a college kid, Like, where do you
- 1:35:47Speaker 6: get money.
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: To like bet on stuff? Oh that's the point.
- 1:35:49Speaker 4: They don't.
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: They don't have it.
- 1:35:51Speaker 6: They're trying to get it back.
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: I was talking to a kid from bu we were
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: in a bar across the street, and he said that
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: he was so behind that he had to give up
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: his car are to the bookie.
- 1:36:02Speaker 4: Wow.
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yikes.
- 1:36:05Speaker 4: I wouldn't work in ever.
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: David and Bethlehem about the wide receiver room. Who will
- 1:36:13Speaker 1: fill the room? Will Thornton have one hundred catches? And ps?
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: Mike is right about Hopkins and Watson Tingle they shared
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: phone numbers. O'Brien did not like those guys in the
- 1:36:22Speaker 1: locker room.
- 1:36:24Speaker 6: I don't know, did him and want? Were him and
- 1:36:26Speaker 6: Watson very very close?
- 1:36:28Speaker 4: I think, I don't say, maybe Watson in Hopkins That's
- 1:36:32Speaker 4: what he said. Yeah, that the speculations that he would
- 1:36:35Speaker 4: go to Cleveland to be like I think if he
- 1:36:37Speaker 4: didn't have quote unquote a contender option, they would go
- 1:36:41Speaker 4: to Cleveland to play for Watson because, yeah, they had
- 1:36:44Speaker 4: a great relationship.
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: Let's see. James Pettigrew, the most interesting Patriots fan in
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: the world, says, can you ask Evan exactly what Maphu
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: is doing at this very moment.
- 1:36:57Speaker 6: Studying breaking?
- 1:36:58Speaker 5: No, I don't know right at this very moment, but
- 1:37:02Speaker 5: I have a Marty Mapu. I'm not gonna lie I
- 1:37:05Speaker 5: do too.
- 1:37:06Speaker 6: I just like watching him, I do. I mean, I think,
- 1:37:08Speaker 6: I mean it was interesting seeing him play kind of
- 1:37:11Speaker 6: more in the safety I mean started right at the top.
- 1:37:13Speaker 6: He was with the safety group in warm ups, you know,
- 1:37:15Speaker 6: just when they're doing their little ball drills. And you
- 1:37:17Speaker 6: know it was was rotating through, did a little of
- 1:37:19Speaker 6: everything on the back end too.
- 1:37:21Speaker 5: So they tried to hit him with a misdirection play
- 1:37:24Speaker 5: today and he just didn't take the cheese and they
- 1:37:27Speaker 5: just shot out of a cannon and he just like,
- 1:37:30Speaker 5: you know, you can't actually hit people right now, So
- 1:37:32Speaker 5: he just kind of like two hand touched him. And
- 1:37:34Speaker 5: you just saw that like swagger, like I would have
- 1:37:36Speaker 5: made that play, like you know, and I I just
- 1:37:39Speaker 5: I love the mental side of it, like you can
- 1:37:41Speaker 5: tell that he knows what he's looking at, which is
- 1:37:43Speaker 5: for these rookies, that's like seventy five percent of the battle.
- 1:37:46Speaker 5: All of them can run, all of them are athletic,
- 1:37:48Speaker 5: but can you actually go out there and play football?
- 1:37:50Speaker 5: It is the real question you break it.
- 1:37:52Speaker 6: It's just gonna be interesting because he's tall and he's thin,
- 1:37:54Speaker 6: like he just he's gonna have a unique kind of
- 1:37:56Speaker 6: look within the defense no matter where he's playing. He
- 1:37:59Speaker 6: just doesn't. I mean, he almost looks more to me
- 1:38:01Speaker 6: like Juwan Williams than like Dugger or certainly Peppers.
- 1:38:05Speaker 5: You know, it's just he's not as interesting as Peppers
- 1:38:08Speaker 5: or Phillips. Maybe I think he's probably pretty similar to
- 1:38:10Speaker 5: Dugger in terms of measurements.
- 1:38:12Speaker 6: Maybe a little thinner.
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: Yeah, Cody's in West Virginia. What's up, Nakody?
- 1:38:18Speaker 18: Can you guys hear me?
- 1:38:19Speaker 8: All right?
- 1:38:19Speaker 1: Yeah? Do I have your first name? Right? Is it Nicody?
- 1:38:22Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 1:38:22Speaker 5: It is?
- 1:38:23Speaker 18: Okay, I might have a question and I have a statement.
- 1:38:27Speaker 18: Since we were speaking on Hopkins, I did see that.
- 1:38:30Speaker 18: I think it was Phil Perry that said that Hopkins
- 1:38:34Speaker 18: wasn't a good fit for the Patriots.
- 1:38:36Speaker 4: Okay, I corrected, then, is it was Ralph? I think
- 1:38:41Speaker 4: manasses No there, I didn't see a lot of bad
- 1:38:44Speaker 4: fit other than he doesn't practice liked the same.
- 1:38:48Speaker 5: I don't think he's saying that he's Phil is saying
- 1:38:50Speaker 5: he's a bad schematic football fit. He's saying his personality
- 1:38:53Speaker 5: is not. He's not a culture guy.
- 1:38:57Speaker 4: I probably misunderstood what Ralph was saying. It makes more
- 1:39:00Speaker 4: sense because I thought we were talking about in terms
- 1:39:02Speaker 4: of how we played, like he's an ex receiver and
- 1:39:05Speaker 4: they don't. I don't want that, you know. I think
- 1:39:07Speaker 4: he's exactly what they need to be honest, get.
- 1:39:10Speaker 6: Open and catch the ball.
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: And if you have a strong locker room, you can
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: absorb that.
- 1:39:14Speaker 4: You can you can do that?
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: Listen, Moss was no, I don't know, I said, if
- 1:39:19Speaker 1: you know, Moss wasn't any you know, walk in the park.
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: Brady spent a lot of time one on one with him,
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: keeping him in line, believe it or not, because he
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: was a pied piper. He could easily have taken some
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: of that locker room in the wrong direction.
- 1:39:34Speaker 6: And you know, I think he did in twenty ten
- 1:39:36Speaker 6: and it was what was starting to happen him.
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: Yeah, he took a lot of tender loving care Moss did.
- 1:39:42Speaker 6: Yeah, you know it's worth it.
- 1:39:45Speaker 1: Floyd writes in from Redford, Michigan. Entering year three after OTAs,
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: there was a buzz around Justin Fields for both his
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: noticeable improved play and leadership. Should have should the Patriots
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: have moved up three spots to draft him, had Fields
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: fell to number fifteen with the Patriots have chosen Fields over,
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: he calls him teflon Mac.
- 1:40:08Speaker 6: Sorry exact, I'm not really lamenting Justin Fields yet, although
- 1:40:13Speaker 6: he played great here last year.
- 1:40:15Speaker 5: Looks great and shorts, Yeah, he needs to show some.
- 1:40:19Speaker 4: A ability to throw the football on a more consistent basis,
- 1:40:22Speaker 4: and more importantly, an ability to win some games. For
- 1:40:25Speaker 4: all of the incredible individual performances he put put forth
- 1:40:29Speaker 4: over the last half of the season, they didn't win
- 1:40:30Speaker 4: any of those games. So yeah, I think we're all
- 1:40:33Speaker 4: kind of clouded by that performance he had on the
- 1:40:36Speaker 4: Monday night game here when he did win the game,
- 1:40:39Speaker 4: but that only happened two other times.
- 1:40:42Speaker 6: I mean, it's not Mac. Can we let's talk at
- 1:40:44Speaker 6: the end of the season. Maybe, I think that'd be
- 1:40:46Speaker 6: a good comparison to look at after this third.
- 1:40:48Speaker 4: Out for both of the If you're asking me what
- 1:40:49Speaker 4: I would I would rather have, I would take fields.
- 1:40:52Speaker 4: But he hasn't proven that.
- 1:40:56Speaker 1: He's just bigger question mark as Mac Tyler and Providence.
- 1:41:00Speaker 1: Evan is one hundred percent correct in saying the Patriots
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: should do everything in their power to sign Hopkins.
- 1:41:05Speaker 4: Mike actually said and here's why he was the.
- 1:41:07Speaker 6: Musical chairs guy.
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: In twenty eighteen, Juju had his best season, playing robin
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: to Antonio Brown's batman. Juju finished the year with over
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: fourteen hundred yards and Brown had nearly thirteen hundred. And
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: this was during Antonio Brown's age thirty season. The Patriots
- 1:41:24Speaker 1: have had much better depth than the Steelers had in eighteen.
- 1:41:28Speaker 1: They had Vance McDonald, Ryan Switzer, James Washington. Big Ben
- 1:41:31Speaker 1: is a better quarterback than Mac at this point. But
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: if Mac is given a top five group around him,
- 1:41:36Speaker 1: we'll see without a doubt if he can do it
- 1:41:39Speaker 1: in this league. By paying up for Hopkins, the Patriots
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: could realistically get the most out of all their offense
- 1:41:45Speaker 1: this season.
- 1:41:46Speaker 4: Who plays the role of Antonio Brown.
- 1:41:48Speaker 5: In this prime in this scenario, thirty one year old
- 1:41:52Speaker 5: DeAndre Hopkins.
- 1:41:54Speaker 4: He says, but if we cannot add hops who had
- 1:41:56Speaker 4: his peak was not Antonio Brown in his peak.
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: But if we cannot add Hopkins, at least we will
- 1:42:01Speaker 1: have him this year.
- 1:42:03Speaker 6: There you go.
- 1:42:04Speaker 5: I don't subscribe to the they have to sign Hopkins
- 1:42:08Speaker 5: to see what they have in Mac Jones. I just
- 1:42:11Speaker 5: subscribed to they should sign Hopkins because it makes him
- 1:42:14Speaker 5: a better football team.
- 1:42:15Speaker 6: Like, regardless of what are you trying to do, what's
- 1:42:17Speaker 6: best for the team.
- 1:42:18Speaker 5: I sometimes we don't do that gymnastics with me.
- 1:42:21Speaker 6: There, that's true. I mean I agree with everything he says,
- 1:42:25Speaker 6: like I just I just don't know if he's still
- 1:42:27Speaker 6: the guy, you know, And that's the only trepidation I
- 1:42:29Speaker 6: have about signing him, is is he still the guy,
- 1:42:32Speaker 6: and are we wasting our time, you know, to try
- 1:42:34Speaker 6: to extend his career a year and he doesn't deliver?
- 1:42:37Speaker 6: What you know, how disappointed are people going to be
- 1:42:39Speaker 6: if he signed DeAndre Hopkins and he catches like thirty
- 1:42:42Speaker 6: five passes really just you know, just like can't can't
- 1:42:45Speaker 6: really do it anymore and he's fading. That's what that's
- 1:42:47Speaker 6: that's my fear.
- 1:42:49Speaker 1: Give him some some of the juice. Little juice'll be fine.
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: Let's see Stephen Maine quick over under game ready? Yeah?
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: Mac touchdown passes this year? Here, twenty five over?
- 1:43:02Speaker 4: Better be over? Over, better be old?
- 1:43:04Speaker 5: Definitely, I'm not ready to say over yet.
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: Remandre rushing touchdowns.
- 1:43:10Speaker 5: Eight, I'm gonna say over to that, Yeah, say over
- 1:43:13Speaker 5: to that.
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: I'm gonna say under.
- 1:43:15Speaker 4: And they're in trouble, then, oh yeah, what if somebody
- 1:43:18Speaker 4: else gets them?
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: You always say, Paul, it doesn't matter who scores.
- 1:43:21Speaker 5: So Mack had twenty two his rookie year.
- 1:43:24Speaker 4: Yeah, if he doesn't have twenty five, and that's an
- 1:43:26Speaker 4: abject disaster.
- 1:43:27Speaker 5: But then Damien Harris had like fifteen fifteen on the ground,
- 1:43:31Speaker 5: I think we see something similar.
- 1:43:33Speaker 1: Uh Taekwan receiving yards eight hundred under.
- 1:43:39Speaker 6: I'm gonna say under, but hopefully not too much.
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: I think he gets them all in one game against
- 1:43:42Speaker 1: the Jets.
- 1:43:44Speaker 4: That would be the way they do it, so it
- 1:43:46Speaker 4: counts for one game.
- 1:43:47Speaker 5: Right, sacks ten, I'm gonna say over.
- 1:43:52Speaker 4: I'm gonna say over on that too. I'm gonna buy
- 1:43:55Speaker 4: on him.
- 1:43:56Speaker 1: Is a guy who gets ten sacks? Or is he
- 1:43:58Speaker 1: a ten sack guy?
- 1:43:59Speaker 10: How?
- 1:43:59Speaker 6: Let you know when I see how he blew by
- 1:44:02Speaker 6: City Sou and a rep today on city like, boy.
- 1:44:06Speaker 5: City, the rep happens, josh uch, just like couldn't didn't
- 1:44:11Speaker 5: even get a hand on him. City Soud turns to
- 1:44:13Speaker 5: Adrian clem and Adrian clembs like, welcome to the NFL.
- 1:44:16Speaker 6: Dude, Like good, yeah, well, I mean that's like everything
- 1:44:20Speaker 6: you think. City Sow is gonna like it's just a
- 1:44:21Speaker 6: little speed rush.
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:44:23Speaker 5: It was a funny exchange. You could see that's in
- 1:44:25Speaker 5: his city, Soal's brain he was like, holy crap, did
- 1:44:27Speaker 5: you see that?
- 1:44:28Speaker 6: But in French?
- 1:44:29Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:44:30Speaker 6: Mom, dot is hee French French?
- 1:44:34Speaker 1: Can I call him pig in an urban setting? Urban setting,
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: City Sow.
- 1:44:44Speaker 4: I'm not even paying attention to That made me laugh.
- 1:44:48Speaker 6: I'm gonna call him at all your you know, the
- 1:44:49Speaker 6: pig in the urban setting did pretty good job.
- 1:44:51Speaker 4: It's a long way to Grandma's house.
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: But urban setting. Uh, let's see and final over under
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: wins eight and a hay under.
- 1:45:04Speaker 6: Oh no, I'm going over.
- 1:45:06Speaker 5: I'm going over to nine wins.
- 1:45:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm my my prediction right now, and I've been
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: very accurate over the last few years. Nine and seven,
- 1:45:16Speaker 1: nine to seven right now.
- 1:45:18Speaker 4: Okay, so what happens in the other games?
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: Oh, that's sixteen, nine and eight, nine and eight, nine wins,
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: nine wins.
- 1:45:25Speaker 4: I mean I say eight and you say nine, and
- 1:45:27Speaker 4: it's like, I'm like, oh, tough, tough, Like I don't
- 1:45:32Speaker 4: think they're going like four and thirteen or anything. Oh,
- 1:45:36Speaker 4: I just well eight and a half, I said, under,
- 1:45:38Speaker 4: I think.
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: But if they did go thirteen, would you be like
- 1:45:41Speaker 1: shocked out of your head?
- 1:45:42Speaker 4: Yeah, you would be. Okay, it's a lot of bad
- 1:45:44Speaker 4: teams in football.
- 1:45:45Speaker 5: I don't I don't think a Bill Belichick coach team
- 1:45:47Speaker 5: is ever gonna be.
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: But there are a lot of bad teams on their
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: schedule this year.
- 1:45:50Speaker 4: Yeah, they'll find some wins.
- 1:45:52Speaker 6: I think six is the Bill the Bill basement, like
- 1:45:54Speaker 6: I don't think he could coach a team that.
- 1:45:55Speaker 5: Was I mean, they won seven games with Cam Newton
- 1:45:59Speaker 5: covid Cam Newton's corpse.
- 1:46:01Speaker 4: The schedule is a lot tougher than that, But yeah,
- 1:46:06Speaker 4: i'd be I mean four would stun me like six wouldn't. No,
- 1:46:10Speaker 4: but four four is really bad. Four means you lost
- 1:46:14Speaker 4: to like the Washington's and the Pittsburgh's and maybe even
- 1:46:18Speaker 4: the Indies.
- 1:46:18Speaker 1: Like yeah, Jamie writes in, so let's play the game.
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: If we do end up with DeAndre Hopkins, what do
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: the Patriot what does the Patriots wide receiver room look like?
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: Who becomes a cut trade candidate?
- 1:46:31Speaker 4: Parker Parker?
- 1:46:34Speaker 6: Yeah, but I still think they like Parker more than
- 1:46:37Speaker 6: any of us do. Though.
- 1:46:37Speaker 4: Then that's all. I don't think there's any doubt all,
- 1:46:40Speaker 4: you know, But.
- 1:46:42Speaker 6: I just think that's the only one that really makes
- 1:46:44Speaker 6: sense because he's just an outside guy, and you know,
- 1:46:48Speaker 6: I think you need some depth with Bourn in the middle,
- 1:46:50Speaker 6: and Thornton can maybe go inside and outside. So probably Parker.
- 1:46:54Speaker 6: I try to trade him, but you know, what are
- 1:46:56Speaker 6: you gonna get trade him? Yeah? Like a fourth I mean,
- 1:46:59Speaker 6: but they what they trade to get him?
- 1:47:00Speaker 5: I wonder if you could trade to one of those
- 1:47:03Speaker 5: like we're probably not going to keep this guy, and
- 1:47:05Speaker 5: you're probably not going to keep that guy, and you
- 1:47:08Speaker 5: end up trading for somebody that fills a hole someplace else,
- 1:47:12Speaker 5: one of those types of truth.
- 1:47:14Speaker 1: Let's see Darpan from New York City Rights in Longtime Listener.
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: But he has a bone to pick with Evan, although
- 1:47:22Speaker 1: before he has he picks the bone. He says he's
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: been a great addition to the show.
- 1:47:25Speaker 5: Just picked, get to the bone, take your pleasantries.
- 1:47:31Speaker 1: He says he actually takes a stand on topics and
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: is willing to stand up to Paul while Fred watches
- 1:47:36Speaker 1: in gleat.
- 1:47:39Speaker 4: That's accurate.
- 1:47:40Speaker 5: So here's our Celtics argument.
- 1:47:42Speaker 1: Oh my god, that was.
- 1:47:45Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:47:46Speaker 1: Evan has been very clear that the Patriots should give
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: whatever Hopkins wants to get him in the building. But
- 1:47:54Speaker 1: we are not talking about robots that play football here.
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: We're talking about people, and everything cannot be just about
- 1:48:00Speaker 1: x's and o's. Hopkins should have been a valuable asset
- 1:48:04Speaker 1: for rebuilding Arizona, but they cut him just to get
- 1:48:07Speaker 1: him out of the building, which tells you something about
- 1:48:09Speaker 1: the person. He has a reputation as a bit of
- 1:48:12Speaker 1: a malcontent, and when you hand the bag to someone
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: like that, it's a recipe for potential disaster. See Kyrie Irving,
- 1:48:20Speaker 1: Kevin Durant, Russell Wilson. Stay tuned for Aaron Rodgers. For
- 1:48:24Speaker 1: a young team like this, especially on offense, when last
- 1:48:28Speaker 1: season highlighted maturity concerns as they lashed out in the
- 1:48:31Speaker 1: face of adversity, in the one before highlighted toughness concerns
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: as they faded over the stretch. Is it wise to
- 1:48:38Speaker 1: make someone like Hopkins one of the leaders of this
- 1:48:41Speaker 1: offense by giving them all the cash because cash is
- 1:48:44Speaker 1: cachet to a lot of people. We do that and
- 1:48:48Speaker 1: then comes the mispractices, the whining when he doesn't get
- 1:48:50Speaker 1: enough targets in the game, etc.
- 1:48:53Speaker 5: Just to be clear, the Cardinals part of ways with
- 1:48:56Speaker 5: DeAndre Hopkins because the Cardinals are tanking because they're like
- 1:49:02Speaker 5: they're not rebuilding this year. Their quarterback is not going
- 1:49:05Speaker 5: to be back maybe all year, and I don't even
- 1:49:08Speaker 5: know if he's going to be the quarterback there going forward,
- 1:49:11Speaker 5: because if they get the number one pick, then Caleb
- 1:49:12Speaker 5: Williams might be their quarterback going for it. So the
- 1:49:15Speaker 5: Cardinals are are full tank mode, and DeAndre Hopkins is
- 1:49:19Speaker 5: not a player you want on a team that you're
- 1:49:22Speaker 5: trying to win three games with. So I don't think
- 1:49:25Speaker 5: they cut him because he's a malcontent or any of
- 1:49:27Speaker 5: those other things. But yeah, you run that risk that
- 1:49:30Speaker 5: you give him money. And its just to be clear,
- 1:49:34Speaker 5: I don't think that the Patriots should make DeAndre Hopkins
- 1:49:36Speaker 5: the highest paid receiver in football, stupid like that, but
- 1:49:40Speaker 5: you run that risk. But I think the Patriots are
- 1:49:42Speaker 5: in a position as an organization and as a team
- 1:49:45Speaker 5: where that is a necessary risk at this point in time.
- 1:49:49Speaker 1: What do we make of Bill's seemingly seeming infatuation with
- 1:49:53Speaker 1: him over the years.
- 1:49:55Speaker 6: I mean that's and that for me is a big
- 1:49:56Speaker 6: factor because I think you've seen it dozens of times
- 1:49:59Speaker 6: where he's willing to take a shot at a really
- 1:50:01Speaker 6: good football player that you know near the end of
- 1:50:04Speaker 6: the line. I mean Chad Johnson, Albert Haynesworth. I mean,
- 1:50:07Speaker 6: you know, sometimes they've worked, sometimes they have a moss.
- 1:50:09Speaker 16: You know.
- 1:50:10Speaker 6: That to me is a key factor. I continuing Evan's point,
- 1:50:13Speaker 6: like they're not gonna hand him a bag, like they're
- 1:50:15Speaker 6: the I mean, they can't like afford to make him like, no,
- 1:50:18Speaker 6: this is the centerpiece of our organization. The point he's
- 1:50:20Speaker 6: at now, and why we think it's possible is because
- 1:50:23Speaker 6: they might be able to get him for a reasonable amount.
- 1:50:26Speaker 6: As far as reasonable money goes. When you're paying a
- 1:50:28Speaker 6: very good wide receiver in the NFL, I mean it
- 1:50:30Speaker 6: will be a significant number.
- 1:50:31Speaker 5: Of How much would you pay him, I'd I'd give
- 1:50:33Speaker 5: him what the Ravens gave out.
- 1:50:36Speaker 6: Sure, Sure, you know, a couple of years, Maybe give
- 1:50:39Speaker 6: him a maybe give him a one of those stupid
- 1:50:41Speaker 6: void years in order to spread it out a little bit.
- 1:50:43Speaker 5: I would do it on it. I would do multiple
- 1:50:46Speaker 5: years because I wouldn't.
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: Want that money.
- 1:50:49Speaker 6: You want to do like one year straight up?
- 1:50:51Speaker 5: No, No, I would do two years, thirty million dollars
- 1:50:55Speaker 5: with basically just the first year guaranteed and a signing bonus.
- 1:50:59Speaker 4: So that would have carried a little bit more weight
- 1:51:02Speaker 4: when the guys that he was supposed to be ripping
- 1:51:05Speaker 4: as malcontents, most of which won championships, like it would
- 1:51:10Speaker 4: have carried a little bit more cachet to me. If
- 1:51:12Speaker 4: you don't use Russell Wilson, Aaron Rodgers, and Kevin Durant
- 1:51:16Speaker 4: as three of your examples of why you don't want
- 1:51:18Speaker 4: to do that. Guys that won titles like you don't
- 1:51:21Speaker 4: want that around here? Like yes, only one that that that,
- 1:51:29Speaker 4: and even he even he won a title. What am
- 1:51:31Speaker 4: I talking about?
- 1:51:31Speaker 5: You can't bring up Kyrie Irving in these Kyrie Irving
- 1:51:34Speaker 5: is on his own different planet.
- 1:51:35Speaker 1: Like literally, but I mean it thinks the world is flat.
- 1:51:39Speaker 4: Let's just ask and I'll ask you, Fred if they
- 1:51:43Speaker 4: brought DeAndre Hopkins here and he spent three years here
- 1:51:47Speaker 4: and was a unbelievable malcontent, but in those three years
- 1:51:50Speaker 4: they want a title, would you be okay with it?
- 1:51:52Speaker 1: Absolutely? Well?
- 1:51:53Speaker 6: How much did they pay him?
- 1:51:54Speaker 1: No, it doesn't matter.
- 1:51:55Speaker 4: I mean I get like that. There's guys with a
- 1:51:59Speaker 4: pattern like Kyrie that I wouldn't touch right now for anything.
- 1:52:03Speaker 4: I don't think the other three guys that he listed
- 1:52:05Speaker 4: are in that level, and I certainly don't think Hopkins
- 1:52:07Speaker 4: is anywhere near that level. Hopkins competes, he plays hard,
- 1:52:12Speaker 4: Like even that stupid fumble he had on the Monday
- 1:52:15Speaker 4: Night game last year against the Patriots, yep, Like that
- 1:52:18Speaker 4: wasn't because he wasn't trying. That was because he had
- 1:52:21Speaker 4: the ball like a little bit looking he had in
- 1:52:23Speaker 4: one hand, but he was trying to get extra yards
- 1:52:27Speaker 4: on that play.
- 1:52:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:52:30Speaker 4: Now I'm not saying he's perfect, and I'm not saying
- 1:52:32Speaker 4: he's not any of the things that the email, because
- 1:52:33Speaker 4: I do have some concerns in the locker room about
- 1:52:36Speaker 4: him a little bit, But I wouldn't say I'm not
- 1:52:39Speaker 4: going to give him any money because of that.
- 1:52:40Speaker 6: Well, it's just like I feel like these emails are
- 1:52:42Speaker 6: directed towards like the initial conversation around Hopkins, which was
- 1:52:45Speaker 6: that everybody was gonna want him and it was going
- 1:52:47Speaker 6: to be a bidding war, and that you were going
- 1:52:48Speaker 6: to have to give him to make a huge investment.
- 1:52:50Speaker 6: I mean, that's not the situe.
- 1:52:51Speaker 4: I'm not going to describe this quote to either one
- 1:52:54Speaker 4: of you because I keep doing it wrong. But one
- 1:52:55Speaker 4: of you said weeks and weeks ago that clearly the
- 1:53:00Speaker 4: NFL didn't like he was available for anybody. Sounds like
- 1:53:03Speaker 4: Evan and clearly the NFL didn't agree. Like you could
- 1:53:06Speaker 4: have had him for like a seventh round pick.
- 1:53:09Speaker 5: They're going to get him for less.
- 1:53:11Speaker 4: But now you're going to get him for less than
- 1:53:12Speaker 4: the nineteen million it would have cost you. Right, he's
- 1:53:14Speaker 4: not getting nineteen probably isn't going to get the fifteen
- 1:53:17Speaker 4: that obij got.
- 1:53:19Speaker 1: Paul and Arkansas writes in first of all, he says,
- 1:53:22Speaker 1: are you guys going back to three shows a week?
- 1:53:24Speaker 1: Once the season starts? We do the week of the
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: first game. Before the first game, we go back to
- 1:53:29Speaker 1: three shows a week. He also thinks h Hopkins signs
- 1:53:32Speaker 1: with the Patriots. Hopkins Hopkins lost out on a round
- 1:53:36Speaker 1: thirty million over the next two years by being cut,
- 1:53:39Speaker 1: and he's never finished a contract with a team. I
- 1:53:42Speaker 1: think he's looking for guarantees, and the Patriots can offer
- 1:53:45Speaker 1: the most right now and in the future with a
- 1:53:47Speaker 1: two to three year.
- 1:53:48Speaker 4: Deal, the most as opposed to who.
- 1:53:51Speaker 1: I don't know, but I wouldn't guarantee you. Why are
- 1:53:54Speaker 1: years worth of money?
- 1:53:55Speaker 8: No?
- 1:53:55Speaker 4: No way, no, But like I don't he's.
- 1:53:57Speaker 6: Not really in a position of power right now. It's
- 1:54:00Speaker 6: it's I mean, I imagine he's hiring an agent because.
- 1:54:03Speaker 1: He really can.
- 1:54:04Speaker 4: I don't think his contract is going to be.
- 1:54:07Speaker 6: Like if someone else signs him, everyone will be like,
- 1:54:10Speaker 6: we couldn't do that, Like that's the you're talking.
- 1:54:13Speaker 4: I don't think his contract is going to be like, oh, well,
- 1:54:16Speaker 4: that's rad That's why Cleveland got him, because they gave
- 1:54:18Speaker 4: him three times as much as anybody else's. I don't
- 1:54:20Speaker 4: think that's what's going to happen. I think whatever he
- 1:54:22Speaker 4: signs for, any team could have signed him for, it'll be.
- 1:54:25Speaker 6: Like two years, twenty three million or something like that.
- 1:54:27Speaker 4: Yeah, like what all right?
- 1:54:29Speaker 1: All right, well listen, that's going to be it for
- 1:54:31Speaker 1: this edition.
- 1:54:33Speaker 4: Four o'clock.
- 1:54:33Speaker 1: I got things to do. I got things to do.
- 1:54:36Speaker 1: So we're going to wrap it up. We'll be back
- 1:54:38Speaker 1: on Thursday at our regular time at noon, and then
- 1:54:43Speaker 1: Catch twenty two immediately following. Is that right out?
- 1:54:46Speaker 4: So you want to work shot in the air, Well,
- 1:54:48Speaker 4: we're thinking about doing Catch twenty two.
- 1:54:51Speaker 1: Just choose when you want to do it now, but
- 1:54:52Speaker 1: don't it out to Patrick Hopkins on the staff.
- 1:54:55Speaker 6: Now, just check your emails.
- 1:54:57Speaker 4: Shot. We're thinking about Catch twenty two after the practice
- 1:55:00Speaker 4: on Friday. What do you think it's in your so
- 1:55:04Speaker 4: they have more to talk about.
- 1:55:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I guess so that makes sense.
- 1:55:06Speaker 4: Okay, were waiting to talk to you about it.
- 1:55:10Speaker 1: Special edition.
