- 0:06Speaker 1: Now I collect lots of different odds and pieces. In
- 0:10Speaker 1: my house, you'll find lots of things, and they found
- 0:12Speaker 1: lots of things and none of it makes sense to
- 0:13Speaker 1: lots of people, but to me, it's interesting. And so
- 0:15Speaker 1: in my kitchen, I've got an ammobox and in that
- 0:19Speaker 1: I had a part and of chloroform and I thought
- 0:22Speaker 1: I'll just shut up, and I just went in and
- 0:24Speaker 1: put it across her face, sat on a lap. Her
- 0:27Speaker 1: arms went up when I grabbed her arms and I
- 0:28Speaker 1: forced them down and I was like, hey, just a
- 0:30Speaker 1: couple of breaths, and everything does goes under miles an hour.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Welcome to a totally true crime.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Totally true crime.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Today's case takes us to Coventry, which is located in
- 0:48Speaker 2: the middle of England, just east of Birmingham. In twenty fourteen,
- 0:55Speaker 2: Samina Immam was thirty four years old. She was a
- 0:59Speaker 2: beautiful with glossy, long dark hair, big brown eyes and
- 1:05Speaker 2: a lovely smile. She was a small woman, just five
- 1:09Speaker 2: thot two inches, and she worked for popular wholesale store
- 1:13Speaker 2: chain Costco. She'd worked in several different Costco stores around
- 1:19Speaker 2: the country, including Bristol, Cardiff, Southampton and finally in Coventry
- 1:27Speaker 2: as a regional manager. While Semina was working there, she
- 1:32Speaker 2: met Roger Cooper. He was one of the warehouse managers
- 1:37Speaker 2: and he was in a long term relationship. But Roger
- 1:42Speaker 2: wasn't the faithful kind, and in twenty twelve, Semina and
- 1:47Speaker 2: Roger started an affair. Unknown to Semina, Roger was also
- 1:53Speaker 2: having an affair with another woman who worked at Costco,
- 1:57Speaker 2: but had managed to keep the women from finding out
- 2:01Speaker 2: about each other. Roger was six foot five inches, well
- 2:06Speaker 2: over a foot taller than Semina. He was forty years old,
- 2:11Speaker 2: six years older than her. Their affair was secret, not
- 2:19Speaker 2: just because Roger had a long term partner, but because
- 2:22Speaker 2: relationships between senior members of staff were against the rules.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Semina was in love with Roger, but Roger had no
- 2:33Speaker 2: plans to leave his long term partner. But Semina wanted more.
- 2:39Speaker 2: She wanted to be with Roger and for them to
- 2:42Speaker 2: be in a committed relationship with just each other. So
- 2:48Speaker 2: in twenty fourteen, she gave him an ultimatum, leave your
- 2:53Speaker 2: girlfriend or it's over. For Roger, leaving his girlfriend was
- 2:59Speaker 2: not something he wanted to do. He'd always sensed that
- 3:03Speaker 2: Semina had strong feelings for him, and he was worried
- 3:07Speaker 2: that if they stopped their affair, she might tell people
- 3:11Speaker 2: about their secret relationship. He had a lot to lose,
- 3:16Speaker 2: his girlfriend, the other woman he was having an affair with,
- 3:20Speaker 2: and his job, so Roger came up with a plan,
- 3:25Speaker 2: one that would mean for the next month, Semina would
- 3:28Speaker 2: be planning their life together, but Roger would be planning
- 3:33Speaker 2: to end hers. Roger told Semina that he wanted to
- 3:38Speaker 2: be with her and that he wanted them to spend
- 3:41Speaker 2: Christmas together. Semina was thrilled she would finally get to
- 3:46Speaker 2: be with the man she'd been seeing in secret for
- 3:50Speaker 2: over two years. But Roger was plotting something sinister. He'd
- 3:56Speaker 2: enlisted the help of his younger brother, David Cooper, and
- 4:00Speaker 2: together they hatched a plan to kill Semina. David was
- 4:07Speaker 2: two years younger than Roger, and he was also an
- 4:10Speaker 2: ex soldier. Unbelievably, David agreed to help Roger with his
- 4:15Speaker 2: twisted plan. Not only that, but he planned to be
- 4:20Speaker 2: the one to kill her. Over the next month, the
- 4:25Speaker 2: brothers planned Semina's murder. The original plan was to kill
- 4:29Speaker 2: her in the early hours of the twelfth of December
- 4:33Speaker 2: after a Christmas party. She believed she would be staying
- 4:37Speaker 2: at a premier in hotel in the nearby town of
- 4:40Speaker 2: Solihull because Roger had told her that he'd booked them
- 4:44Speaker 2: a room. He also told her that he had a
- 4:48Speaker 2: surprise waiting for her there, but this wasn't true. There
- 4:54Speaker 2: was no room booked. Roger was planning a surprise, but
- 4:59Speaker 2: not one that she would like. David was planning to
- 5:03Speaker 2: abduct her. He was waiting in the hotel car park
- 5:07Speaker 2: in a higher car and was on the lookout for Semina.
- 5:11Speaker 2: He had planned to abduct her when she arrived back
- 5:14Speaker 2: at the hotel after the party, but her taxi pulled
- 5:19Speaker 2: right up outside the entrance. David noticed there was CCTV
- 5:24Speaker 2: cameras and he didn't go through with the plan. David
- 5:31Speaker 2: then pulled out his mobile phone and texted his brother
- 5:34Speaker 2: in French. The message translated to there is no point,
- 5:40Speaker 2: no score, The window of opportunity is closed. Somehow, Roger
- 5:47Speaker 2: managed to explain away the fake room and the fake
- 5:50Speaker 2: surprise to Semina that night, and she carried on seating him.
- 5:55Speaker 2: To make up for letting her down, Roger promised that
- 5:59Speaker 2: in just two week's time they would be spending their
- 6:02Speaker 2: first Christmas together as a couple, and they would spend
- 6:07Speaker 2: it together, but Semina wouldn't be alive. On Christmas Eve
- 6:13Speaker 2: twenty fourteen, Roger and Semina had decided to spend Christmas
- 6:17Speaker 2: together in Birmingham in a four star hotel. They both
- 6:22Speaker 2: finished work around four pm and drove out of the
- 6:25Speaker 2: Costco car park in separate cars. Semina then pulled over
- 6:31Speaker 2: on a nearby side road, with Roger pulling in behind her.
- 6:36Speaker 2: He parked up, got her luggage out of the car
- 6:40Speaker 2: and transferred it over to Rogers. She got in the
- 6:44Speaker 2: front seat and they drove away. Roger started driving towards Leicester,
- 6:51Speaker 2: away from Birmingham and the hotel they were supposed to
- 6:54Speaker 2: be going to. Because Leicester is where Roger's brother David lived,
- 7:01Speaker 2: Roger was taking her to his house. Roger is believed
- 7:06Speaker 2: to have told Semina that they were popping in to
- 7:09Speaker 2: see his brother. After all, it was Christmas. This didn't
- 7:14Speaker 2: sound unbelievable. Semina spoke to her sister on her mobile
- 7:19Speaker 2: phone during this car journey. She asked after their mother
- 7:24Speaker 2: and confirmed that she would see her and the rest
- 7:27Speaker 2: of her family at their parents' home in Essex on
- 7:30Speaker 2: Boxing Day, but that meeting would never come. A couple
- 7:36Speaker 2: arrived at David's house at five pm. It was a
- 7:40Speaker 2: dark winter's night in England. They parked the car and
- 7:44Speaker 2: knocked on the door. They entered the house and within
- 7:48Speaker 2: seconds David lunged at Semina, covering her face with a cloth,
- 7:54Speaker 2: but the cloth wasn't dry, it was soaked with chloroform.
- 8:01Speaker 2: Chloroform is an organic compound mainly used in industrial practices. Previously,
- 8:09Speaker 2: it was used as an anesthetic before it was realized
- 8:13Speaker 2: that it can have extremely dangerous side effects on the
- 8:16Speaker 2: human body. Symptoms include excitement and nausea, followed by dizziness
- 8:22Speaker 2: and drowsiness. More severe exposures to chloroform can cause heart problems, fitting, unconsciousness,
- 8:33Speaker 2: and in some cases death. The brothers had purchased the
- 8:40Speaker 2: chloroform on eBay, a few weeks before. Whilst she was
- 8:44Speaker 2: under the effects of the drug, they made her swallow
- 8:48Speaker 2: poisons including arsenic tin and mercury. Semina died shortly afterwards.
- 8:56Speaker 2: She should have been celebrating, getting ready to see her
- 9:00Speaker 2: family in a few days time. Instead, she was now
- 9:05Speaker 2: lying lifeless on the floor of a man who had
- 9:08Speaker 2: committed an ultimate evil act for his brother. But if
- 9:14Speaker 2: that wasn't enough, Roger had also instructed David to get
- 9:19Speaker 2: rid of Semina's body. Roger left David's house and started
- 9:25Speaker 2: his journey home to spend Christmas with his loved ones.
- 9:30Speaker 2: His partner was at home waiting for him. He tried
- 9:34Speaker 2: to cover his tracks. He had Samina's phone and he
- 9:38Speaker 2: texted himself the following message to make it seem as
- 9:42Speaker 2: if she were still alive. It read, I am fuming.
- 9:47Speaker 2: I'm going to a place where I am truly cared for.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Whilst Roger was back in the arms of his partner,
- 9:56Speaker 2: his brother David had wrapped Semina's body up in clingfilm,
- 10:00Speaker 2: rolled her into a sleeping bag, and put her into
- 10:04Speaker 2: the boot of his car. David drove around for days
- 10:09Speaker 2: with Semina's body in the boot of his car, trying
- 10:13Speaker 2: to decide where to put her, But then he came
- 10:17Speaker 2: up with a plan. He drove to his allotment, just
- 10:21Speaker 2: a short distance from his home, and that's where he
- 10:24Speaker 2: unlawfully buried Samina's body in a deep grave on his shed.
- 10:31Speaker 2: Next to the plot of land where he buried her.
- 10:34Speaker 2: A plaque hung on the wall with a joke on it.
- 10:38Speaker 2: It said, don't wind me up. I'm running out of
- 10:42Speaker 2: places to hide the bodies. Christmas came and went, and
- 10:49Speaker 2: on Boxing Day, Semina's family became concerned when she failed
- 10:54Speaker 2: to turn up at her family home as planned. Their
- 10:58Speaker 2: attempts to contact her failed and they called the police
- 11:02Speaker 2: to report her as a missing person. The police realized
- 11:07Speaker 2: that disappearing was out of character for Semina and launched
- 11:11Speaker 2: an investigation. They named it Operations Ceramic. They discovered that
- 11:18Speaker 2: Semina had been at Marks and Spencer's in Coventry on
- 11:21Speaker 2: Christmas Eve, eyeing a bottle of Bellini cocktail and snacks,
- 11:27Speaker 2: and after that there'd been no trace of her. While
- 11:31Speaker 2: Semina's family were living a real life nightmare, Roger and
- 11:36Speaker 2: David continued to try to cover their tracks. They went
- 11:41Speaker 2: back to Semina's parked car and drove it from Coventry
- 11:44Speaker 2: to Leicester, where it was wiped of fingerprints and then
- 11:49Speaker 2: dumped in Luton near to the airport. They did this
- 11:54Speaker 2: to make it seem as if she'd gone away. Heartbroken
- 11:58Speaker 2: over her relationship with Roger d Police discovered her car
- 12:03Speaker 2: on the fourth of January, nine days after she went missing.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Samina's family had no idea why her car had been there.
- 12:15Speaker 2: When the police searched her car, they noted that her luggage,
- 12:19Speaker 2: her handbag, and her phone were absent. They soon realized
- 12:24Speaker 2: the car had been wiped of fingerprints, and detectives found
- 12:27Speaker 2: this highly suspicious. They also noted that the driver's seat
- 12:33Speaker 2: was pushed all the way back, way too far back
- 12:37Speaker 2: for someone of Semina's height to drive safely. She was
- 12:42Speaker 2: only five foot two, but Roger and David were six
- 12:46Speaker 2: foot five inches tall. They would have needed to push
- 12:51Speaker 2: the seat all the way back if one of them
- 12:54Speaker 2: had been driving the car. It was then that the
- 13:00Speaker 2: police moved the initial missing persons investigation up to a
- 13:05Speaker 2: no body murder investigation. The detectives got hold of Samina's
- 13:11Speaker 2: phone data through her network and saw that she traveled
- 13:15Speaker 2: to Leicester with Roger. They'd heard rumors that she'd been
- 13:19Speaker 2: seeing Roger and decided to search his home. When they
- 13:24Speaker 2: were there, they found the bottle of Bellini cocktail that
- 13:27Speaker 2: she'd bought on Christmas Eve in his fridge, along with
- 13:32Speaker 2: snacks that she had bought in his cupboard and her
- 13:36Speaker 2: sat NAV was found in his loft. Roger Cooper was
- 13:42Speaker 2: brought in for questioning.
- 13:47Speaker 3: Last day.
- 13:47Speaker 4: Saw built around before there, but I haven't got that
- 13:52Speaker 4: specific time. So four ye I was in my office
- 13:57Speaker 4: in the work I was with three. There were four
- 14:03Speaker 4: of us in the room. So there's two other people
- 14:05Speaker 4: apart from her. One of them is another regional manager,
- 14:09Speaker 4: which is what she has been doing. Yeah, and the
- 14:12Speaker 4: other one works for me in the in the store.
- 14:16Speaker 4: And I was leaving, so I gave the regional manager
- 14:19Speaker 4: a hug because it's Christmas. Yeah, yeah, wish Harry Christmas
- 14:23Speaker 4: the same states. Where's my name? So I went over
- 14:26Speaker 4: there and gave her a hug.
- 14:28Speaker 3: Who's la? And then I left?
- 14:31Speaker 4: Okay, And that was at four pm, roughly roughly around
- 14:35Speaker 4: four pm.
- 14:36Speaker 5: On the which don Christmas Christmas Eve, that was on
- 14:39Speaker 5: the twenty fourth, and left the site.
- 14:43Speaker 6: Left and within within five minutes I'm sure it's within
- 14:49Speaker 6: five minutes, she phoned, Okay, she's found you that.
- 14:56Speaker 3: Like, no, I'm not going to be there. She I
- 15:00Speaker 3: was just trying to persuade me more time.
- 15:04Speaker 6: Why it was too many conversations if that, it was
- 15:09Speaker 6: a brief one, and then it was like.
- 15:11Speaker 3: How did you how did you leave it? How did
- 15:13Speaker 3: you sound a little disappointed?
- 15:18Speaker 6: But I think she still thought I was going to go,
- 15:23Speaker 6: so not as angry as or as irked as she
- 15:27Speaker 6: probably should have.
- 15:29Speaker 5: You said it all last year, back to two minutes,
- 15:33Speaker 5: and was that the last time you heard from her?
- 15:36Speaker 3: No, I've got a text specs I heard of.
- 15:39Speaker 7: Always tell me about the text message this is it's
- 15:47Speaker 7: a couple of minutes later, newer, seven o'clock.
- 15:50Speaker 3: I can read it. Yeah, I'm few being full stuff.
- 15:56Speaker 3: I'm going to where I am truly cared for.
- 15:59Speaker 5: What do you think he meant from that technism.
- 16:02Speaker 8: She'd gone to Birmingham see one of the friends. It
- 16:07Speaker 8: was an assumption that I've got no basis for that
- 16:09Speaker 8: at all, because I knew that she would want to
- 16:11Speaker 8: eventually be in London to see her family, because of
- 16:15Speaker 8: her mum.
- 16:16Speaker 3: Right, So.
- 16:19Speaker 5: The next thing that you know about family is what
- 16:23Speaker 5: boxing boxing day, boxing boxing day, evening, boxing day evening.
- 16:29Speaker 2: Roger denied seeing her beyond their shift on Christmas Eve,
- 16:33Speaker 2: but the police knew that the phone data had shown
- 16:37Speaker 2: he was with her hours after their shift. Ended in
- 16:42Speaker 2: another room. The police were also interviewing Roger's brother, David.
- 16:48Speaker 9: Right David Dean. Obviously, the purpose for today to speaking
- 16:52Speaker 9: to you is to do is in connection with a
- 16:55Speaker 9: mission personing for a lady by the name of Samim.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Do you know what I've seen a photo?
- 17:05Speaker 10: Yeah? Was that the firs who I've got then there? Yeah, yeah,
- 17:09Speaker 10: that's the picture of the the lady. Dismissing that we
- 17:11Speaker 10: make it in quarries about Okay, have you ever met her?
- 17:14Speaker 10: I'm familiar, I've met twice someone like that.
- 17:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:19Speaker 10: And did you know about that name?
- 17:21Speaker 4: No?
- 17:21Speaker 3: I never know her name.
- 17:22Speaker 1: Did you know about any name?
- 17:24Speaker 3: No?
- 17:24Speaker 4: No?
- 17:26Speaker 10: And can you tell me what you know about her?
- 17:30Speaker 10: She worked with my bottle and yeah, I just want
- 17:37Speaker 10: to say that, Oh they were in a relationship. I
- 17:40Speaker 10: wouldn't got that far, right, what would.
- 17:43Speaker 9: You not get up?
- 17:44Speaker 1: Because he was having Oh so yeah.
- 17:47Speaker 9: So I'm thinking that you met her on two occasions.
- 17:52Speaker 9: When was But when was the first one?
- 17:59Speaker 11: I don't know which came first. She's I've seen her
- 18:02Speaker 11: in the warehouse working which one cross shows compentry when
- 18:07Speaker 11: I went to sep the bubblem once that.
- 18:10Speaker 10: Yeah, how did he talk to her? No, what they
- 18:15Speaker 10: were doing wasn't on the way down, and then no
- 18:18Speaker 10: one knew you were aware of that at the time.
- 18:21Speaker 10: I would have been, So that must have been the second
- 18:24Speaker 10: time so she's been. He took her for a mile
- 18:26Speaker 10: of the restaurant for were you aware that he was
- 18:31Speaker 10: seeing him before he came to the restaurant? So that
- 18:34Speaker 10: was Was that the first time then you'd ever seen
- 18:37Speaker 10: or heard anything about her?
- 18:44Speaker 11: He might have mentioned he's not the most loyal person.
- 18:47Speaker 11: There might have been a couple that he's talked about,
- 18:49Speaker 11: and I wouldn't have known faces or names or anything.
- 18:52Speaker 11: So I won't say as the first of all I
- 18:53Speaker 11: heard anymore. But that's not that.
- 18:56Speaker 2: Yeah, both brothers were denying, I mean, anything about Semina's disappearance,
- 19:03Speaker 2: but the police didn't buy it. They went through their
- 19:06Speaker 2: mobile phone data and they found cryptic messages between the
- 19:11Speaker 2: two brothers. The messages were coded thinly in Star Wars speak.
- 19:19Speaker 2: Death Star Complete and stay on Target were messages found
- 19:25Speaker 2: sent from David to Roger. There were also messages in
- 19:30Speaker 2: broken French between the brothers. The police assumed that these
- 19:36Speaker 2: were codes relating to the death of Semina, and they
- 19:39Speaker 2: were determined to prove it. They soon realized that David
- 19:45Speaker 2: was the weaker of the two brothers, and they started
- 19:48Speaker 2: to increase the intensity of their questioning.
- 19:53Speaker 1: This lady. I didn't know her name. She died on
- 19:57Speaker 1: my sofa and so in Leicester. And that's why I said,
- 20:01Speaker 1: that's wrong because it says Coventry.
- 20:02Speaker 2: So, okay, my dinner, but tell me about the lady
- 20:06Speaker 2: doing and you soper.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Okay, so my brother had been around. I've already made
- 20:11Speaker 1: a statement to that effect, and that statement is true.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Accept anything that might impreicate myself, so we can go
- 20:15Speaker 1: back to that. And then after you went, you had
- 20:19Speaker 1: just literally gone a minute, and the door knocked again
- 20:21Speaker 1: and I thought it was him coming back, so I
- 20:23Speaker 1: rapped the door because normally I wouldn't open the door.
- 20:25Speaker 1: I don't like people. And it was this woman who
- 20:29Speaker 1: I knew to be an associate of my brother's for
- 20:33Speaker 1: reasons that I mentioned before. And were happily go into
- 20:35Speaker 1: it again later and she was like, where's my jar
- 20:39Speaker 1: stepping in the house. So I was like, it was
- 20:44Speaker 1: not here, it was gone. She was like, I haven't
- 20:45Speaker 1: seen him leave, and I was like, well, I'll call him.
- 20:49Speaker 1: It's just left, and she was like walking through the house,
- 20:53Speaker 1: and I said, look, just sit down and I'll call him,
- 20:56Speaker 1: knowing that I wasn't going to call him because clearly,
- 21:03Speaker 1: in my mind, for my own reasons, I imagined she
- 21:06Speaker 1: was looking for him. And I knew that he wanted
- 21:08Speaker 1: to go home, and I knew that he didn't want
- 21:11Speaker 1: her known where he lived. So I was like, got
- 21:13Speaker 1: to let him get away. This sounds really silly, but
- 21:15Speaker 1: I was like, okay, So I got to sit on
- 21:17Speaker 1: this over and after a couple of year, and she
- 21:21Speaker 1: wasn't interested. She was moaning, and I don't recall what
- 21:24Speaker 1: she was saying, but she was like, we've made plans
- 21:27Speaker 1: and he's supposed to be seeing me things like this,
- 21:31Speaker 1: which I I'm just be vague about.
- 21:35Speaker 4: Now.
- 21:38Speaker 1: I collect lots of different odds and pieces. In my house.
- 21:41Speaker 1: You'll find lots of things, and they found lots of things,
- 21:43Speaker 1: and none of it makes sense to lots of people,
- 21:45Speaker 1: but to me, it's interesting. And so in my kitchen,
- 21:49Speaker 1: I've got an ammobox, a military ammo tin, which I
- 21:53Speaker 1: think is normal. And in that I had hoart enough
- 21:57Speaker 1: chloroform and seeing it on Telly and I thought it
- 22:03Speaker 1: was okay. I thought, I'll just shut her up because
- 22:08Speaker 1: my walls are paper thin. I don't want a scene,
- 22:12Speaker 1: and I want to give a few minutes. She wasn't
- 22:15Speaker 1: accepting a couple of teas, she wasn't accepting anything else.
- 22:18Speaker 1: So I literally thought it was a really good idea.
- 22:21Speaker 1: So I've got a bucket which is still in my kitchen,
- 22:23Speaker 1: and they can still investigate this. I got the claw film.
- 22:26Speaker 1: I pulled it over a tea towel, and my kitchen
- 22:29Speaker 1: is like two steps beneath the floor level off the lounge,
- 22:31Speaker 1: and my sofa is right next the doorway. And I
- 22:34Speaker 1: just went in and put it across her face, thinking
- 22:36Speaker 1: that it was out and as stupid in my eve
- 22:42Speaker 1: as it sounds, I did think that it would just
- 22:45Speaker 1: buy me some time, because I don't know how long
- 22:47Speaker 1: they stay unconscious for. And I kind of put it
- 22:51Speaker 1: on her face, sat on a lap, and she arms
- 22:54Speaker 1: went up and I grabbed the arums and I forced
- 22:56Speaker 1: them down, and I was like, he just a couple
- 22:57Speaker 1: of breaths, and then you know, maybe I'll ring Roger
- 23:01Speaker 1: and tell him maybe, but I don't know.
- 23:03Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 23:06Speaker 1: That cup. So then everything does goes on animals now,
- 23:15Speaker 1: and I didn't ring Roger from then on. I'm afraid
- 23:23Speaker 1: he's my penalty with self preservation and has gone lot
- 23:27Speaker 1: up until today, off until now, yeah, which sounds really
- 23:31Speaker 1: cult just spent. So I was like riot ship.
- 23:42Speaker 3: Wake up.
- 23:43Speaker 2: David was now confirming that he had been the one
- 23:48Speaker 2: to kill Samina. He told the officers that Roger had
- 23:53Speaker 2: nothing to do with it. The police then asked him
- 23:58Speaker 2: what he had done with some in his body.
- 24:02Speaker 1: Then I had to get so I got back home.
- 24:04Speaker 1: Now I've got this thing to hide. Sorry, I'm not
- 24:07Speaker 1: going to refer to it with anything you So another
- 24:12Speaker 1: guy everyone knows people. He's a bit of idiot and
- 24:15Speaker 1: he's got a van and I haven't got his number
- 24:19Speaker 1: anymore because I've been it after I rang him. I
- 24:20Speaker 1: rang him from a disposal sin card. His name's Ben.
- 24:25Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure you'll need to find him. So this
- 24:28Speaker 1: is this is what you need to know to rang
- 24:31Speaker 1: him from a disposable sin card. Yeah, Ben, Yeah, I've
- 24:34Speaker 1: been racking my brain for a surname. I can find
- 24:36Speaker 1: it on Facebook, but I don't know it from my
- 24:38Speaker 1: top mat.
- 24:39Speaker 2: Welcome back to all.
- 24:40Speaker 5: This is all right?
- 24:42Speaker 1: Rang him? He heard me a favor, or he wanted
- 24:45Speaker 1: to impress, or he wanted to do it what's right
- 24:47Speaker 1: by people, whatever his own reasons are, he's not the
- 24:50Speaker 1: sort that or blab and then well, I put it
- 24:56Speaker 1: in my sitting bag. Okay, So at my house there's
- 24:59Speaker 1: a sleeping I cover without a sleeping bag, which is
- 25:02Speaker 1: I mean, I'm not. I didn't.
- 25:04Speaker 9: I didn't.
- 25:06Speaker 1: I didn't clean the so far, I didn't do anything
- 25:08Speaker 1: to hide anything. I just covered my tracks. And if
- 25:11Speaker 1: I get caught, I get caught. If I don't know, don't,
- 25:12Speaker 1: I'm not going to try too hard. So the stuff's
- 25:16Speaker 1: still there and they can find it unless I get
- 25:20Speaker 1: away with it would be I don't know. Anyway, got
- 25:26Speaker 1: that gune that that night and really late on Boxing
- 25:29Speaker 1: Day night, and I thought it was really good timing
- 25:32Speaker 1: because people would be going to bed early on Christmas.
- 25:34Speaker 1: And again I'm thinking, oh, this is working out such
- 25:38Speaker 1: so stupid. Then then I've gone through the next few days,
- 25:47Speaker 1: I'm like, so sorry, okay, do we catch that. So
- 25:50Speaker 1: somebody came on Christmas Day, Christmas Eve took it away
- 25:53Speaker 1: from it. I I don't know. I don't know what
- 25:58Speaker 1: happened next. I think it's buried in Woodland and I'm
- 26:04Speaker 1: not from les Terar. I don't know Lestelle, which is
- 26:07Speaker 1: why I've been driving around a lot of race, isn't
- 26:08Speaker 1: he But I think he said something about Suvan Woods,
- 26:13Speaker 1: but I've never heard of sythand Woods. I don't know
- 26:15Speaker 1: if it is. I much made that up. Switzerland Woods, Switzerland,
- 26:18Speaker 1: I don't even know right. That's just come to me
- 26:21Speaker 1: today because I wasn't really paying attention when you said it.
- 26:24Speaker 1: The rest of my story is about moving the car,
- 26:26Speaker 1: which you guys pretty much already though, because I panicked
- 26:29Speaker 1: because I couldn't have to leave it in Coventry because
- 26:30Speaker 1: it's too close to Watja, and I've tried moving it
- 26:33Speaker 1: down south. I stored it on the motorway. I've got
- 26:37Speaker 1: police attention. I can tell you more details, like and
- 26:40Speaker 1: it was just complete nightmare and I just left and
- 26:44Speaker 1: the rest of it. I mean, if it wasn't if
- 26:46Speaker 1: it was ten years ago, I would have got away
- 26:48Speaker 1: of it. It's this apm AP and R cameras I
- 26:50Speaker 1: didn't know about, and there I are.
- 26:54Speaker 2: David showed his true character in his interview describing Semina
- 27:00Speaker 2: that thing. He was also misleading the police. He knew
- 27:06Speaker 2: Semina was not buried in Woodland, but so did the police.
- 27:11Speaker 2: His confession was inconsistent. One minute he was being open
- 27:16Speaker 2: and honest, and in the next breath he would lie.
- 27:20Speaker 2: He made up a story about a man called Ben,
- 27:23Speaker 2: who he said took Samina's body into the woods. His
- 27:27Speaker 2: story made no sense. Whilst David was being questioned, someone
- 27:33Speaker 2: had tipped off the police. They had a suspicion about
- 27:37Speaker 2: David's allotment. There was a mound of freshly dug dirt
- 27:42Speaker 2: with tarpaulin and leaves on it. Nothing was growing and
- 27:47Speaker 2: it looked staged. The police started digging. At this stage,
- 27:53Speaker 2: they only had circumstantial evidence against the brothers and no
- 27:57Speaker 2: forensic evidence. To four long days, they found the edge
- 28:02Speaker 2: of the sleeping bag that Semina's body lay in, and
- 28:07Speaker 2: when they uncovered it, they found Semina. Both Roger and
- 28:12Speaker 2: David Cooper were arrested for Semina's murder, and forty eight
- 28:17Speaker 2: hours later, on the ninth of January, they were charged.
- 28:23Speaker 2: Neither of them admitted to murdering her. David said it
- 28:27Speaker 2: was an accident, and they both pled not guilty. Their
- 28:32Speaker 2: trial started in August twenty fifteen in Birmingham Crown Court
- 28:38Speaker 2: and it lasted for over two months. The jury was
- 28:42Speaker 2: made up of ten men and two women. The trial
- 28:46Speaker 2: determined that Semina died between five oh seven pm and
- 28:51Speaker 2: six twenty six pm on Christmas Eve. The prosecution's evidence
- 28:56Speaker 2: against the brothers were stacking up against them. Their text messages,
- 29:02Speaker 2: the phone data, the secret relationship, the first attempt at
- 29:07Speaker 2: abducting Semina. Their cars were also caught on traffic cameras
- 29:13Speaker 2: numerous times, which gave the police a clear map of
- 29:17Speaker 2: the routes they had taken. The jury found both Roger
- 29:21Speaker 2: and David Cooper guilty of murder. Roger and David never
- 29:27Speaker 2: told the court or Samina's family exactly how she died.
- 29:33Speaker 2: They just looked ahead, emotionless and heard their fate. Neither
- 29:39Speaker 2: of them had shown any remorse through the trial. Judge
- 29:44Speaker 2: Patrick Thomas QC sentenced them both to serve at least
- 29:49Speaker 2: thirty years in prison.
- 29:52Speaker 12: He said, the use of a poison in a case
- 29:54Speaker 12: such as this demonstrates a cold blood and intention to kill,
- 29:57Speaker 12: regardless of the consequences. You work together, hand in glove
- 30:02Speaker 12: in planning and carrying out the murder of a joyful
- 30:04Speaker 12: and bubbly young woman brutally betrayed by a man she
- 30:07Speaker 12: loved and his brother.
- 30:11Speaker 2: Semina's family were in the court, and they released a
- 30:14Speaker 2: statement after the sentencing. Imran Imman, Semina's younger brother, said,
- 30:21Speaker 2: the circumstances in which Semina was murdered plagues me greatly.
- 30:27Speaker 2: I constantly think of her last moments and her final
- 30:31Speaker 2: thoughts and fears. Semina was a mentor, a guide, a
- 30:37Speaker 2: council during difficult times. I will no longer be able
- 30:42Speaker 2: to seek her advice. Detective Inspector Caroline Marsh said, I
- 30:48Speaker 2: would say this is the most callous offense I have
- 30:53Speaker 2: ever investigated. Thank you for watching. If you found the
