- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome back to the Epstein Chronicles.
- 0:04In this episode, we're going to get right back to
- 0:06it with the claims made by Mary Doe against the
- 0:09Jeffrey Epstein Estate. Factual Allegations twenty six. Mary was born
- 0:15in nineteen eighty eight outside of the United States in
- 0:18a small town. Her grandfather was a prominent doctor and
- 0:21her parents were well educated. Twenty seven, when Mary was
- 0:25just four years old, however, the region she lived in
- 0:28descended into Civil War. Two years later, her entire town
- 0:32was bombed, shelled, and eventually evacuated. She and her family
- 0:36fled on foot, traveling through war zones in a stream
- 0:40of refugees. Twenty eight. Her family had no money and
- 0:44lived together in one room, sharing a bathroom with other families.
- 0:48Their only clothing was what was provided to them by
- 0:51the Red Cross. Because of the war torn economy, Mary's
- 0:54parents were only able to find low paying, unskilled jobs
- 0:58to survive twenty nine. Eventually, when Mary was nine years old,
- 1:02her family came to the United States as refugees. Thirty
- 1:07Mary's family settled in Missouri. Her parents resorted to working
- 1:11in the kitchen of a McDonald's. They immersed themselves in
- 1:14the American dream, working hard and becoming proud first generation Americans.
- 1:19Thirty one. When Mary was thirteen, she learned of a
- 1:23talent search for models and persuaded her mother to bring
- 1:26her to the event. Thirty two, Mary quickly found success
- 1:29as a model. Her parents were devotely Christian and were
- 1:33displeased by Mary doing that kind of work and unprepared
- 1:37to deal with a daughter thrust in the spotlight. It
- 1:40seemed unbelievable to them that their daughter could earn thousands
- 1:44of dollars just by having pictures of her taken, but
- 1:47they permitted her to keep doing so, largely because school
- 1:50counselors and family priests advised them to let Mary pursue
- 1:54this dream so long as she kept up with her
- 1:56studies while traveling thirty three. By age fifteen, Mary began
- 2:01traveling to New York City from modeling while still attending
- 2:04school in Missouri. Because of her immediate success, she moved
- 2:07there the following year at age sixteen, living in an
- 2:10apartment for models in Manhattan with one or two roommates
- 2:13but no adult on the premises. Thirty four. In New York,
- 2:18Mary had a hectic schedule for modeling work, frequently working
- 2:22eleven hour days that involved ten or twelve casting events.
- 2:26She was represented by a prominent agency and worked with
- 2:29top tier clients. She was featured in prominent magazines and
- 2:33Harold did as a rising star in the modeling world.
- 2:36Thirty five. At casting events, Mary was often the youngest
- 2:40person surrounded by older models. She felt empowered, feeling that
- 2:44she was a big girl and that she was smarter
- 2:46than the older models and able to do what they
- 2:49did despite her young age thirty six. At the same time,
- 2:53Mary's parents distanced themselves from her as they did not
- 2:56approve of the modeling profession. Her father made it now
- 3:00to her that he did not approve of her doing
- 3:02that kind of work thirty seven. In this context, Mary
- 3:06met Jeffrey Epstein for the first time in approximately the
- 3:10summer of two thousand and four, when she was sixteen
- 3:12years old thirty eight. At one of the casting events,
- 3:16a model who was several years older than Mary mentioned
- 3:19Epstein to Mary. The woman said that Epstein had connections
- 3:23to Victoria's Secret and told Mary that he would be
- 3:26the most interesting person that she would ever meet. Thirty nine.
- 3:30Mary made an appointment to meet Epstein at his townhouse
- 3:33at nine East seventy first Street in Manhattan. Forty Mary
- 3:38did not view it as strange or concerning to go
- 3:40to Epstein's home. During that time period, it was common
- 3:44for her and other models to run around the city,
- 3:46ringing the doorbells of artists and photographers to meet with
- 3:49them at their studios and homes. Casting calls and waiting
- 3:53around in townhouses were a normal part of the work.
- 3:56In those interactions, she had found nearly all of the
- 3:59people she met to be nice, and found that they
- 4:01were not predators and understood that she was a child.
- 4:05Forty one, when Mary rang the doorbell of Epstein's townhouse,
- 4:09a maid answered the door, but Epstein was standing right
- 4:12beside her, giving the impression that he was expecting Mary.
- 4:16Epstein seemed larger than life to marry. Forty two, Mary
- 4:22was impressed with the grandeur of Epstein's townhouse, the ornate furnishings,
- 4:25and the numerous photographs of famous people. Forty three, Epstein
- 4:30quickly touted his connection to important people. He pointed out
- 4:34of Mary a photo of Bill Clinton, the president who
- 4:37made it possible for Mary and her family to come
- 4:39to the United States. As refugees. Epstein told her that
- 4:43he and President Clinton were best friends. When Mary explained
- 4:47her family story, Epstein told her that he would personally
- 4:50thank Bill on her and her family's behalf. Boy. That's
- 4:54a bit embarrassing, isn't it. I wonder if anybody is
- 4:57ever going to bring that up to Bill Clinton. I
- 5:00guess not. Forty four Epstein told her about himself, including
- 5:05about his healthy lifestyle and that he did not do
- 5:07drugs or drink. This put her at ease and caused
- 5:11her to think I'm in good hands. Forty five, Epstein
- 5:15asked Mary whether she had a boyfriend. Mary explained that
- 5:18she had never dated anyone, that her family was very religious,
- 5:21and that she was saving herself for marriage. Forty six,
- 5:25after they conversed, Epstein told Mary that he had ant
- 5:28in his back and that his messuse had not gotten
- 5:31it out, and asked if she would help get it out.
- 5:34Mary took this to be an innocent request. She had
- 5:36given massages to her mother and father, so Epstein's request
- 5:40did not seem strange. Forty seven, Epstein led Mary to
- 5:44a massage room in his townhouse. He gave her a
- 5:47large massage device to use. On his back, and she
- 5:49did so. Afterwards, Epstein told her she was an excellent massuse.
- 5:54He pulled two or three hundred dollars bills out of
- 5:57his wallet and gave them to Mary, saying, in substance,
- 6:00I was going to give it to my messuse anyway,
- 6:02so you take it and pay for your car service
- 6:04or something. Forty eight Afterwards, Mary felt very fortunate to
- 6:09have made the connection with Epstein. She found him very
- 6:12impressive and the smartest person that she had ever met.
- 6:16She could not fathom the wealth and luxury that he
- 6:18had and felt that she wanted to be like him.
- 6:21She assumed she would never see Epstein again and she
- 6:24would move on with her life. Forty nine. To Mary's surprise,
- 6:28Epstein called soon afterward, and he told her that he
- 6:31had enjoyed talking to her, and that he was impressed
- 6:33at how smart she was for a sixteen year old,
- 6:36and that our life story was touching. Epstein asked Mary
- 6:39if she would like to see him again. Fifty Mary
- 6:42found it unbelievable that Epstein, such a smart and powerful man,
- 6:46was impressed by her. She was thrilled at the successful
- 6:49track her life appeared to be taking. She believed that
- 6:51if she stuck by Epstein, she would be in good hands.
- 6:54Fifty one, when Mary went to Epstein's townhouse a second time,
- 6:58Epstein discussed his can actions with Victoria's secret and said
- 7:02he would put in a good word for Mary. Fifty two.
- 7:06When Mary conversed with Epstein, she felt like she was
- 7:08in the presence of someone who was powerful and perfect.
- 7:12She saw that he had the ability to reach down
- 7:15from his powerful position and influence the people directly involved
- 7:19with Mary's daily life and her future prosperity. Fifty three,
- 7:25Epstein made a point of calling massive celebrities such as
- 7:28an oscar winning actress and world famous supermodel on a
- 7:32speakerphone in Mary's presence to show her the tremendous influence
- 7:35that he had. Those two famous women did pick up
- 7:39the phone and talk to Epstein when he called them.
- 7:41They plainly also thought he was impressive and important. Fifty four,
- 7:47Mary told Epstein about her parents being upset that she
- 7:51was pursuing modeling and explained that it was their dream
- 7:54for Mary to attend a prestigious college. Epstein told Mary
- 7:58that he was on the board of directors at Harvard University.
- 8:01He promised her that if she did well on her SATs,
- 8:05he would write her a letter of recommendation for Harvard,
- 8:07which he said would carry significant weight in the admission decision.
- 8:12Fifty five, Mary strongly desired for her parents to be
- 8:15proud of her. Accordingly, Epstein's assurance that he could help
- 8:18her get into Harvard was deeply meaningful to her. Fifty six,
- 8:24Epstein brought Mary back to the massage room. He asked
- 8:27her to get on top of him and to take
- 8:29her shirt off. Epstein instructed Mary to massage them, which
- 8:32he did. She had never done anything like this before,
- 8:35but also felt that this older man, who had spent
- 8:38so much time with her and had promised her access
- 8:40to everything she wanted, with someone she could not disappoint.
- 8:45Fifty seven. Afterwards, Epstein again gave her two hundred dollars
- 8:49and she left. Fifty eight. The third time Mary went
- 8:52to Epstein's townhouse, Epstein brought her to the massage room
- 8:56and pressed the massage device against her genitals. Had lived
- 9:00a chase life, and Epstein's conduct made her feel ashamed
- 9:04and embarrassed. Mary vividly remembers looking up at the domed
- 9:08ceiling of the massage room painted with clouds and feeling claustrophobic.
- 9:13Fifty nine, Epstein aggressively ordered Mary to masturbate him in
- 9:17a forceful manner. He barked commands at Mary to stroke
- 9:20his penis and to play with his nipples. Sixty Afterwards,
- 9:24Epstein gave her three hundred dollars and left sixty one.
- 9:28Epstein's pattern of abuse continued. Epstein would tell Mary to
- 9:32come to his townhouse, order her to strip down in
- 9:34massage them, and sexually abuse her. At the end of
- 9:37each massage, Epstein would ejaculate while Mary touched him. Epstein
- 9:41would then tell her what a good girl she is
- 9:43and that he loved her and that he would call
- 9:45her later. Each time, Epstein would give her two to
- 9:48three hundred dollars bills. Sixty two. Epstein acted as if
- 9:52he was Marry's sexual teacher, guiding her sexual awakening. Mary
- 9:56experienced sexual feelings for the first time, but they were
- 9:59entered with a men's shame and deep seated fear. Sixty three.
- 10:05Epstein escalated his sexual abuse over time. During one of
- 10:09Mary's visits to his townhouse in approximately mid two thousand
- 10:13and four, Epstein forced his penis into her mouth and
- 10:16forced her to perform oral sex on him in a
- 10:19very aggressive manner. Mary choked and gagged, not knowing what
- 10:23to do, but when she tried to move her head
- 10:25away from Epstein's penis, he forced it back into place.
- 10:29Sixty four. Afterwards, Epstein told her how amazing she was,
- 10:33and he gave her two hundred dollars sixty five. As
- 10:36time went on, Mary's relationship with her parents remained distant
- 10:40due to their objection of her career choices. Epstein became
- 10:43the only adult presence in her life. Epstein began calling
- 10:47Mary constantly, whether she was in New York or traveling.
- 10:51He told her that he loved her. Mary continued to
- 10:54have arduous schedule of modeling events, and as a child,
- 10:57she perceived Epstein's daily check up as giving her emotional
- 11:01support that she did not otherwise have. Sixty six. Epstein
- 11:07told Mary about the island he owned in the Virgin Islands,
- 11:09and he made repeated attempts to fly her to the
- 11:12Virgin Islands to meet people he assured her were very
- 11:16influential and would help her with her future. Epstein told
- 11:19Mary that she should be willing to give other people massages.
- 11:23As well. Sixty seven, Epstein invited Mary to stay at
- 11:27his home in Paris and arranged for her to attend
- 11:30a concert accompanied by a world famous supermodel sixty eight.
- 11:35Epstein had manipulated Mary into believing that Epstein's thoughts were
- 11:39focused on her career and her future sixty nine. At
- 11:43the same time, Epstein made sure Mary understood his power
- 11:46over her. If she was ever late to meet him,
- 11:48he would tell her that nobody messes with his time
- 11:51and that she could lose everything. When Mary told Epstein
- 11:54she needed to leave for modeling commitments, he often demanded
- 11:57that she stay, telling her things like I could buy
- 12:00her agency today, you can miss that appointment seventy Epstein
- 12:04continued to train Mary to be submissive to him and
- 12:07to submit to his orders seventy one. Anytime Mary failed
- 12:11to do exactly what Epstein commanded of her, Epstein threatened
- 12:14her and verbally beraided her. On one occasion, when Mary
- 12:18failed to show up precisely when Epstein had asked her to,
- 12:21he reacted with anger, telling her in substance, how dare you?
- 12:24I could make you disappear, I could destroy you. I
- 12:27own this city seventy two. Mary believed that was true,
- 12:31that Epstein could make her disappear. She felt the ad
- 12:34total control to help her dreams come true or to
- 12:37make them disappear. Seventy three. Epstein's dress terrified Mary. She
- 12:43made sure to stay in line and not to disobey him.
- 12:46Seventy four. When Mary talked back, Epstein would belittle her
- 12:50and scrutinize her appearance. At one point, Epstein critiqued Mary's body,
- 12:54telling her that her legs were too big. Epstein went
- 12:58so far as to send Mary to a plastics so
- 13:00urgent who declined to perform the procedure's honor seventy five.
- 13:04On one occasion, Epstein had Mary sit on his lap
- 13:07and yelled at her, saying, in substance, we need to
- 13:10teach you how to please a man. Seventy six, Epstein
- 13:14wrote Mary and penetrated her vagina with his fingers. Seventy seven.
- 13:19Epstein forced Mary to perform oral sex on him. On
- 13:22a number of other occasions. Epstein got very aggressive as
- 13:26he did so, holding Mary's head down on his penis
- 13:28and giving her constant orders for how to please him.
- 13:32Seventy eight. Mary saw Epstein numerous times from the summer
- 13:36of two thousand and four until the end of two
- 13:38thousand and five. These meetings were often arranged by calls
- 13:42from Epstein himself. Seventy nine. On numerous other occasions, defendant
- 13:47Sarah Vickers called Mary in scheduled deployments between Mary and Epstein.
- 13:52Eighty Mary first met Kellen approximately in early two thousand
- 13:56and five, when Mary was approximately sixteen years old. Eighty one.
- 14:01Upon information and belief, Kellen knew that Epstein engaged in
- 14:04numerous sexual acts with Mary when Mary was a miner.
- 14:08Eighty two. When Kellen called Mary to arrange meetings between
- 14:12Mary and Epstein, Kellen referred to them as massage appointments.
- 14:16Upon information and belief, Kellen knew that Epstein would engage
- 14:20in sexual acts with Mary, a minor, at some or
- 14:23all of these massage appointments at the time Kellen arranged
- 14:26those meetings. Eighty three, while Mary was traveling, Kellen wired
- 14:31money tour in order to facilitate further encounters between Mary
- 14:35and Epstein. Eighty four. Upon information and belief, Kellen was
- 14:40an integral part of Epstein's child sex trafficking operation. Eighty five.
- 14:45Upon information and belief, Kellen engaged in a long pattern
- 14:48of actions aimed at recruiting underage girls for Epstein to
- 14:52use for sexual purposes, and to facilitate sexual encounters between
- 14:56underage girls and Epstein. Upon information and belief, Kellen kept
- 15:03a rolodex that included numerous underage girls for Epstein to
- 15:06use for sexual purposes. Eighty seven. Upon information and belief,
- 15:11Kellen warned numerous underage girls who had been sexually abused
- 15:16by Epstein to not talk to the police, causing them
- 15:19to feel intimidated and frightened. Eighty eight. Kellen was often
- 15:23present in the townhouse when Mary came there. Mary frequently
- 15:27observed Kellen at Epstein's side, and Kellen often observed Mary
- 15:31going in and out of the massage room eighty nine.
- 15:35On one occasion, Epstein violently forced Mary to perform oral
- 15:39sex on him in a hallway in the townhouse. Kellen
- 15:43walked into the area and witnessed the sexual act, then
- 15:46quickly walked away. Minutes later, Mary heard Epstein gleefully comment
- 15:50to Kellen in crude terms that Mary was the best
- 15:53at performing oral sex. Mary was incredibly embarrassed and thought,
- 15:58that's not me. I don't want to be presented this
- 16:00way ninety On another occasion, in Mary's presence, Epstein instructed
- 16:05Kellen to arrange for a new underwear to be purchased
- 16:08for Mary from Victoria's secret. Just minutes later, the new
- 16:12underwear arrived and Kellen handed it to Epstein. Immediately after
- 16:16Kellen left, Epstein ordered Mary to strip down to try
- 16:19the underwear on, and she obeyed. Epstein then took photographs
- 16:23of Mary in the underwear ninety one. One day, in
- 16:27approximately late two thousand and four, when Mary was sixteen
- 16:31years old, Epstein raped her. Mary went to Epstein's townhouse
- 16:34that day, and Epstein was angry with her. He ordered
- 16:37her to strip down and shower, telling her that she
- 16:40did not smell good. Epstein washed Mary's entire body compulsively
- 16:44and then angrily told her in substance, if you're lying
- 16:47to me about being a virgin, I will have you killed.
- 16:50Mary believed the threat to be true. Ninety two, after
- 16:54Mary showered, Epstein forcibly penetrated her vagina with his penis
- 16:59and took her virginity. While Epstein raped her and Mary
- 17:02felt numb, she felt her mind separate from her body.
- 17:06Mary protested, but Epstein forced her face into the bed
- 17:10to stifle her cries. Ninety three. Afterwards, Epstein gave Mary
- 17:15two hundred dollars and let her out of the townhouse,
- 17:17assuring her, as he had many other times, that she
- 17:20was on the right path under his guidance. Epstein told
- 17:24Mary that he loved her and said, don't fuck it up.
- 17:27Ninety four. Throughout two thousand and five, Epstein continued to
- 17:31exercise tremendous control over Mary's life. Ninety five. In the
- 17:36spring of two thousand and five, when Mary was seventeen
- 17:38years old, Epstein arranged for Mary to stay in an
- 17:41apartment in one of his Upper East Side of Manhattan,
- 17:44close to his townhouse. Ninety six. One day around Thanksgiving
- 17:48two thousand and five, when Mary was seventeen years old,
- 17:52Mary again went to Epstein's townhouse, this time for the
- 17:55final time. As he had many times before, Epstein has
- 17:59sexually assaulted her. He then gave her a few hundred dollars.
- 18:02After he did so, he shouted out disparaging and demeaning
- 18:06remarks about her to Kellen, saying that she had performed well.
- 18:10Mary felt deep shame. Ninety seven. As Mary walked out
- 18:15of the townhouse and onto the street. She saw another
- 18:17young girl walk by and go into the townhouse. Ninety eight.
- 18:22At that moment, Mary's world shattered. Epstein had made himself
- 18:25the center of her young existence, masking himself as a parental,
- 18:30substitute and mentor who had her best interests in mind.
- 18:33She realized that Epstein was paying for her sexual acts,
- 18:37and that she was just one of many young girls
- 18:40Epstein had in rotation for his use as sexual objects.
- 18:44She felt that she was no longer a human being.
- 18:47Ninety nine, Mary effectively had a nervous breakdown. She was humiliated, angry,
- 18:53and suicidal. She felt immense desolation. She found herself crying, inconsolably, shaking,
- 18:59and hyper ventilating. One hundred, Mary found herself unable to
- 19:04go to casting events or meetings. She locked herself away
- 19:07from everything. One oh one. Mary was desperate to escape
- 19:12circumstances Epstein had her living in, but she needed Epstein's
- 19:16permission to leave New York. She asked Epstein to let
- 19:19her visit her parents in the Midwest for her mother's birthday.
- 19:23Epstein agreed to let Mary go, but only if she
- 19:25returned immediately after. Epstein made sure to have his close
- 19:30associates purchase a round trip ticket for Mary, but once
- 19:33Mary left New York, she never went back, even though
- 19:36she had significant jobs lined up and was burning professional
- 19:39bridges and giving up her modeling career by going to
- 19:42the Midwest. One oh two, Epstein and his agents continued
- 19:47to contact Mary, but she refused to go back. Near
- 19:50the end of two thousand and five, Epstein tracked down
- 19:52the home phone number for Mary's parents and called. Mary's
- 19:56mother answered the phone, told Epstein that he should go
- 20:00with women his own age, and told her she was
- 20:03going to call the police. At the same time, Mary
- 20:06remained extremely frightened of all of Epstein's power and threats,
- 20:10and would never let her parents call the police. One
- 20:13o three. In the subsequent months, Mary became chronically depressed.
- 20:18She had severe anxiety, She had frequent suicidal ideations. She
- 20:22felt debilitating nausea and stomach pain. She felt dead inside,
- 20:26unable to connect with anyone, She numbed herself and tried
- 20:30to bury the pain and avoid dealing with what had happened.
- 20:33One o four, Mary abruptly stopped modeling, given up the
- 20:37lucrative career in which she was a rising star and
- 20:40which she had given up so much she stopped pursuing
- 20:44or attending modeling appointments, ruining the momentum of her career
- 20:48and causing her irreparably to lose connections with top agencies
- 20:52and clients in the industry, even when she finally returned
- 20:55to modeling years later one oh five. The sexual abuse
- 20:59that at Timestein inflicted on Mary left permanent psychological scars.
- 21:04She remains plagued with self doubt, insecurity, and despair. She
- 21:08often has difficulty sleeping. She has struggled to build healthy relationships,
- 21:13as she finds it nearly impossible to separate memories of
- 21:15Epstein's manipulation and abuse from new relationships that she tries
- 21:21to develop one O six. When Epstein was arrested in
- 21:25July twenty nineteen, Mary was briefly hopeful that he might
- 21:29face justice, but the worldwide publicity that he subsequently received
- 21:33only deepened her despair. Epstein's death left Mary with a
- 21:37desolate sense that he has managed to evade justice yet again.
