  Speaker 1: Good morning. You know, it's often easy to accept in

  Speaker 1: our minds things that we know are true about God

  Speaker 1: or about things that God says, and to recognise that
• 0:19
  Speaker 1: these are true, sort of for everybody or for other
• 0:23
  Speaker 1: people or for someone I know. And yet when it
• 0:26
  Speaker 1: comes to believing that they are true for me, that's
• 0:30
  Speaker 1: where we struggle, isn't it?
• 0:33
  Speaker 1: We have difficulty applying some of these great truths that
• 0:38
  Speaker 1: God has told us in the Bible.
• 0:41
  Speaker 1: To ourselves we're reading in the book of Hebrews this
• 0:45
  Speaker 1: week in chapter 10, and these truths he's giving us
• 0:49
  Speaker 1: are so awesome, and yet it can be difficult to
• 0:53
  Speaker 1: believe for me. He's just told us how when Jesus
• 0:58
  Speaker 1: died on the cross, He was fulfilling everything that in
• 1:01
  Speaker 1: the Old Testament those sacrifices were pointing towards. Those sacrifices
• 1:06
  Speaker 1: never really forgave anybody. They were all pointing to what
• 1:09
  Speaker 1: Jesus would do.
• 1:11
  Speaker 1: And his death on the cross has for all time
• 1:14
  Speaker 1: perfected those who are drawing near to God, and he
• 1:18
  Speaker 1: says you can draw near to God. You can come
• 1:21
  Speaker 1: right close to Him, relationally close. Don't let guilt hold
• 1:25
  Speaker 1: you back, because in reality, if you've asked God to
• 1:29
  Speaker 1: forgive you because of what Jesus did on the cross,
• 1:32
  Speaker 1: Jesus has taken your guilt away. God sees you now
• 1:36
  Speaker 1: as someone who didn't do those things.
• 1:39
  Speaker 1: Because Jesus died for you as someone who did do
• 1:42
  Speaker 1: those things just as if he had done it, not you,
• 1:47
  Speaker 1: and now all of that is out of the way
• 1:50
  Speaker 1: and God is so ready for a great relationship with you.

  Speaker 1: So in verse 23 of chapter 10, in light of
• 2:00
  Speaker 1: all that, the writer of Hebrews says, Let us hold
• 2:05
  Speaker 1: fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he
• 2:12
  Speaker 1: who promised.
• 2:14
  Speaker 1: Is faithful.
• 2:16
  Speaker 1: Let us hold fast. That means hang on too tightly
• 2:21
  Speaker 1: and never let go. The confession of our hope, that
• 2:25
  Speaker 1: is these truths he's just been telling us. Hang on
• 2:29
  Speaker 1: to them tightly. Don't let them go. Trust that what
• 2:34
  Speaker 1: God has said is what He will do in relation
• 2:39
  Speaker 1: to you.
• 2:41
  Speaker 1: Your hope is that yes, God has forgiven you. Yes,
• 2:45
  Speaker 1: he has welcomed you into his family. Yes, when you die,
• 2:49
  Speaker 1: that's not the end, it's just the doorway into this
• 2:52
  Speaker 1: awesome existence with God. Hold fast to that. Don't let
• 2:59
  Speaker 1: your old way of thinking, your conscience that keeps attacking
• 3:02
  Speaker 1: you and saying you're too bad, you're too guilty, God
• 3:06
  Speaker 1: doesn't want to accept you.
• 3:08
  Speaker 1: Don't let that dominate your life. God is so ready
• 3:12
  Speaker 1: to move into a deep, loving, close relationship with you.
• 3:20
  Speaker 1: Hold on to that. Train your conscience with the truth
• 3:25
  Speaker 1: of God's word every day. Start your day.
• 3:29
  Speaker 1: Maybe even out loud as you walk into your shower
• 3:33
  Speaker 1: and say, God, I trust that you love me. I
• 3:38
  Speaker 1: trust that you have forgiven me. I trust that there's
• 3:43
  Speaker 1: nothing in the way of me moving into a deep
• 3:46
  Speaker 1: relationship with you, and I want to draw closer to
• 3:49
  Speaker 1: you today. Say that to yourself every day out loud
• 3:54
  Speaker 1: if you need to until your conscience, your inner way
• 3:57
  Speaker 1: of thinking, accepts it.
• 3:59
  Speaker 1: That is what God has said. Trust Him. He who
• 4:05
  Speaker 1: promised is faithful, and as you begin to train yourself
• 4:09
  Speaker 1: to believe what God has said, that He forgives you,
• 4:13
  Speaker 1: that those things are out of the way, they're gone,
• 4:16
  Speaker 1: that He is so ready to walk closely with you,
• 4:19
  Speaker 1: then you will find your relationship with God opening up.
• 4:24
  Speaker 1: And you'll find God getting deeply involved, not only in
• 4:29
  Speaker 1: your Bible reading or your church attendance, but in your
• 4:32
  Speaker 1: everyday life out in the world. God wants to be
• 4:36
  Speaker 1: a part of everything you do.
• 4:39
