- 0:01Speaker 1: All right, we're good.
- 0:03Speaker 2: You like.
- 0:05Speaker 3: Busting with the boys, hanging with the face, betting on
- 0:15Speaker 3: the game. No woman's gonna tell us.
- 0:22Speaker 4: What you can knop you.
- 0:25Speaker 5: We're here.
- 0:29Speaker 3: Just drinking beer and making nao. Baby, I'm hanging with
- 0:34Speaker 3: the feelers, busting with the boys, bro.
- 0:44Speaker 4: Rolling near the TV on.
- 0:48Speaker 6: You're y trying to lock it.
- 0:50Speaker 4: I got to, I got to and already brother too
- 0:52Speaker 4: to Lucy's already in espresso or mango espresso. I'm not.
- 0:56Speaker 4: I'm not as big on the mango as i am
- 0:58Speaker 4: the espresso.
- 0:59Speaker 6: I love the expressed.
- 1:01Speaker 4: I had the espresso, tell about noon, not tring to
- 1:03Speaker 4: switch it out and find my flavor.
- 1:05Speaker 6: Yeah, welcome to busting with the boys.
- 1:08Speaker 4: We were having technical difficulties with our small TV.
- 1:11Speaker 6: That's all right. Hey, people are uh, people were fired up.
- 1:14Speaker 6: People are so happy that the intro's back.
- 1:17Speaker 4: How do you feel?
- 1:18Speaker 6: Oh, you know me, bring the old new intro back.
- 1:21Speaker 4: I did see your comment on YouTube. Brother. The people
- 1:24Speaker 4: have spoken. It is what it is, and it's I
- 1:25Speaker 4: did say in the intro yesterday it's kind of a
- 1:28Speaker 4: it's a slippery slope because.
- 1:29Speaker 6: Then last week said in the intro last week, and
- 1:32Speaker 6: what I said yesterday.
- 1:34Speaker 4: So the intro, I've had a tough day of my
- 1:36Speaker 4: days in a week lately. I walked into the shop
- 1:38Speaker 4: yesterday and said, how was your weekend?
- 1:40Speaker 6: Boys?
- 1:40Speaker 4: And it was Wednesday. It's actually Thursday, It's actually no,
- 1:45Speaker 4: yesterday was goddamn it. Yeah, But on the intro last week,
- 1:50Speaker 4: I was saying basically like we've listened to you, we
- 1:52Speaker 4: hear it. But it's a slippery slope because the minute
- 1:54Speaker 4: you allow the chat to get you, they think they
- 1:57Speaker 4: run you. And so we're we're in a fragile state
- 2:00Speaker 4: right now, you and I are being manipulated by the masses.
- 2:03Speaker 6: However, it was the right choice. I think we took
- 2:05Speaker 6: our time. We took longer. Yeah, we we took our time. Yeah, yeah,
- 2:09Speaker 6: oh absolutely, Like I've even I've even said that I
- 2:12Speaker 6: like the uh, the one that we were trying to
- 2:15Speaker 6: go for where you have kind of the cliffhanger because
- 2:18Speaker 6: you watch like the Shannon Sharps and I get influenced
- 2:21Speaker 6: by some of these other pods and look, you don't
- 2:23Speaker 6: you know, you don't know until you try shit. You
- 2:25Speaker 6: have to learning or as you know, we just got
- 2:27Speaker 6: out voted upstairs. But look, democracy, democracy, if the people
- 2:30Speaker 6: have spoken, the boys are speaking, It's like, hey, set
- 2:32Speaker 6: your ego aside and just just roll with the fellas.
- 2:35Speaker 4: Right, fifty stars, thirteen bars. Brother, these colors don't run.
- 2:37Speaker 4: We live with democracy.
- 2:38Speaker 6: Yeah yeah. If we would have reacted to the chat immediately,
- 2:41Speaker 6: they would have the old intro back, like literally the
- 2:43Speaker 6: week after.
- 2:43Speaker 4: Right, and it wouldn't have set up this beautiful thing
- 2:45Speaker 4: that people are listening to now. Yeah yeah, yeah, they
- 2:47Speaker 4: able to sit down and enjoy themselves.
- 2:49Speaker 6: Yeah. In the comments building, you get the you know,
- 2:52Speaker 6: everybody chirping being upset.
- 2:53Speaker 4: There are two things that our fans know. Ther Intro
- 2:57Speaker 4: is back, and you can always come to us for
- 2:59Speaker 4: a cheppy podcast.
- 3:00Speaker 6: Dude.
- 3:00Speaker 4: Bust from the Boys is presented by Chevy. This is
- 3:03Speaker 4: a Chevy truck podcast, the greatest truck ever built, and
- 3:06Speaker 4: our good friends at Chevrolet have been a big part
- 3:08Speaker 4: of the Bust and family and even our personal lives.
- 3:10Speaker 4: Chevy Silverado longtime awesome partner of the show. A truck
- 3:14Speaker 4: with commanding and unstoppable grit, legendary capability and dependability too,
- 3:17Speaker 4: So find out for yourself. Like so many of our boys,
- 3:20Speaker 4: head over to Chevy dot com to check out Chevy
- 3:22Speaker 4: Trucks Grit, What Chevy truck Grit and build your own
- 3:29Speaker 4: Sovado for doing yourself projects to road trips, off road
- 3:33Speaker 4: adventures to tailgates wherever did you just start? Whatever your
- 3:36Speaker 4: thing is, it all starts with the Chevy truck Just
- 3:38Speaker 4: did your phone just start? Like you have the little
- 3:41Speaker 4: service for a second says what the thing? I got
- 3:46Speaker 4: messed up on it? Says Chevy truck Grit. But then
- 3:51Speaker 4: I think I had to read the first part right,
- 3:52Speaker 4: so my brain was like, Grit's not supposed to be.
- 3:54Speaker 6: They're going to think their internet is slow when you
- 3:55Speaker 6: do that little pause right there. I gotta sitting away
- 3:58Speaker 6: for this thing. The load.
- 3:59Speaker 5: God.
- 4:00Speaker 4: We fixed the WiFi last week, unplugging the router just
- 4:02Speaker 4: because of me. Yeah.
- 4:05Speaker 6: We went on Dale Junior last week. Everybody who's who's
- 4:08Speaker 6: a fan of Dale and Herd Junior, which I think
- 4:10Speaker 6: that is everybody in the world, every single human being there.
- 4:12Speaker 6: The boys went on the Dale Junior download and we
- 4:14Speaker 6: had a two and a half hour podcast. They said
- 4:16Speaker 6: that was the longest one in the last two years.
- 4:17Speaker 4: Yeah, that was And it was such a good time too,
- 4:20Speaker 4: because I mean, we've been on other people's podcast before
- 4:22Speaker 4: and it's like you did Two Bears, Yeah, yeah, the
- 4:26Speaker 4: day before that.
- 4:27Speaker 6: It's a pretty strict hour, yeah and a long.
- 4:29Speaker 4: You're kind of sitting there, but everyone's kind of bouncing
- 4:30Speaker 4: off each other the whole time. Dale really took the
- 4:32Speaker 4: time to get to know the boys. Yeah, find the
- 4:34Speaker 4: level of nostalgia when we played against each other in
- 4:36Speaker 4: two thousand, was at nineteen, yeah, twenty eighteen, twenty nineteen,
- 4:41Speaker 4: playing against each other at the start of the podcast,
- 4:44Speaker 4: Dale giving you your flowers on Twitter, calling me the
- 4:46Speaker 4: common man. Like it was overall, it was a great experience.
- 4:50Speaker 4: What's really cool to me is like you guys' relationship,
- 4:52Speaker 4: the way you guys talked about that because you guys
- 4:55Speaker 4: were you were obviously with the Redskins, the team formerly
- 4:57Speaker 4: known as the Redskins, and he's a fan of that team. Yeah,
- 4:59Speaker 4: and then you guys just get together. You're doing the
- 5:01Speaker 4: dog the Dog thing on Snapchat. You're just having a
- 5:04Speaker 4: good time with Dale, and I was just it was
- 5:06Speaker 4: just kind of cool to see the two bros bro out.
- 5:08Speaker 6: Dude, because I was telling you afterwards, like it is
- 5:12Speaker 6: insane to me because.
- 5:14Speaker 4: Like we you grew up it's like, oh, you know, our.
- 5:17Speaker 6: Dreams of like playing professional football, and then like growing
- 5:20Speaker 6: up in bon terr you got it's w W and
- 5:22Speaker 6: NASCAR fans. Right, I wasn't the biggest NASCAR fan, but
- 5:26Speaker 6: you you don't need to be a fan of NASCAR
- 5:28Speaker 6: to know who Dale or Heart Junior is. And yeah,
- 5:32Speaker 6: how that all came about. I'm still just thinking, like,
- 5:34Speaker 6: I mean, he's the most humble cat, the humble celebrity
- 5:37Speaker 6: maybe that we've ever met. There's so many.
- 5:39Speaker 4: There's only a few people out there that you meet
- 5:41Speaker 4: that are famous that don't know that they're famous. And
- 5:44Speaker 4: he's absolutely one of them. Like SA One's one, Pat
- 5:47Speaker 4: Mahomes is one. But then Dale is like me one
- 5:50Speaker 4: when you meet him, what a top three round? He
- 5:52Speaker 4: just thinks he's a regular guy. He's just a regular
- 5:55Speaker 4: fucking guy out there. When I was a kid, we
- 5:57Speaker 4: used to go to the p I R all the time,
- 5:59Speaker 4: the Phoenix International Sway with my grandfather. Rip Boy passed
- 6:01Speaker 4: away about a week ago, and uh.
- 6:05Speaker 6: To have a moment of silence for Grandpa motorcycle. Yeah
- 6:09Speaker 6: for your grandpa.
- 6:09Speaker 4: All right, God damn put on disturb Oh that was
- 6:19Speaker 4: your phone shout out Grandpa motorcycle and he would always
- 6:24Speaker 4: take us there and he was a big Ford guy
- 6:26Speaker 4: and he would always talk about the Ford Racers and
- 6:28Speaker 4: stuff like that. But even Dale being in a Chevy
- 6:31Speaker 4: like you used to always tip the cap to him
- 6:33Speaker 4: and he would be like, that's that guy's the man. Yeah,
- 6:35Speaker 4: tell me about his dad and all these different things.
- 6:37Speaker 4: It was just like cool being there as a kid
- 6:39Speaker 4: and growing up and being like, yo, Dale, we're just
- 6:41Speaker 4: hanging out with Dale.
- 6:42Speaker 6: Yeah, and what was that? What was the car that
- 6:44Speaker 6: they had sitting in front of the podcast.
- 6:46Speaker 4: His dad's car that his dad actually raced, the real one, right,
- 6:49Speaker 4: it was a real one. Yeah.
- 6:50Speaker 7: He did twenty seven races in it, one eight of them.
- 6:53Speaker 4: That is incredible and it's wild too, Like one of
- 6:56Speaker 4: the guys was telling us that Dale doesn't have a
- 6:58Speaker 4: lot of his dad's memorabiliy, and so he actually found
- 7:01Speaker 4: that at the Barrett Jackson and was able to outbid
- 7:03Speaker 4: whoever it was to go get it.
- 7:05Speaker 6: That's crazy that he does basically have to fight to
- 7:08Speaker 6: get the memorabilia, which is why does he have all
- 7:10Speaker 6: the get all the memorabilia.
- 7:12Speaker 4: I don't know the show, but they kind of they
- 7:14Speaker 4: they kind of explained it to us a little bit.
- 7:16Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, if you're in that family, well, Dale's
- 7:18Speaker 6: like the air, so you would just assume that the
- 7:22Speaker 6: that his son, yeah, should get whatever he wants, right.
- 7:25Speaker 4: And just like following in his dad's footsteps and all that.
- 7:28Speaker 4: And even when he was on the bus before talking
- 7:29Speaker 4: about like how his dad was just a guy like you,
- 7:32Speaker 4: respected and also feared like he did something. He did
- 7:35Speaker 4: something in the house one day and he ran and
- 7:36Speaker 4: like hid behind like hey until like the nighttime.
- 7:39Speaker 6: Yeah, like that, yeah, across the street or something, and
- 7:43Speaker 6: laid there until he thought it was safe to go
- 7:46Speaker 6: back in.
- 7:46Speaker 4: Yeah, laid down on the ground until nightfall.
- 7:49Speaker 6: I meant to bring that up when we were chopping
- 7:51Speaker 6: it up afterwards and talking kind of dad stuff.
- 7:53Speaker 4: Where the graduations that you guys had with your daughters.
- 7:56Speaker 6: And then he was almost like us, we're talking about
- 7:59Speaker 6: how having girls and you're like, oh, I'm gonna have
- 8:01Speaker 6: a third one, like the way periods are syncd up,
- 8:03Speaker 6: our balls are synked up.
- 8:04Speaker 4: So you're gonna have a girl because I'm having one.
- 8:06Speaker 6: And then he's like, I don't know, he doesn't didn't
- 8:09Speaker 6: necessarily want a son because he felt like he would
- 8:12Speaker 6: be way too hard on him, and I meant to
- 8:14Speaker 6: bring up that, like, hey, man, what do you think
- 8:16Speaker 6: you're gonna scare him so bad? You're gonna he's gonna
- 8:17Speaker 6: take off, running out of the house and go hiding
- 8:19Speaker 6: a ditch across the street.
- 8:21Speaker 4: I just don't see Dale being a like a hardcore dad,
- 8:24Speaker 4: like over the top.
- 8:25Speaker 6: I don't. I don't see that any stad.
- 8:27Speaker 4: He's just kind of the man.
- 8:28Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 8:29Speaker 7: I know he's got that killer instinct in him for sure.
- 8:31Speaker 6: Question you know he you know, they got the core values.
- 8:33Speaker 6: He has the foundation at home, but the way he
- 8:36Speaker 6: carries himself, it's like, brother, you'd be a phenomenal boy.
- 8:39Speaker 4: Dat dad, he'd be a great boy.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Dad.
- 8:41Speaker 5: Hey, but how about the culture around it. When we
- 8:43Speaker 5: pulled up, people waiting outside.
- 8:45Speaker 4: Dude, people BUCkies, Dale are heart shot. That's what we
- 8:50Speaker 4: pulled up, and there were some good old boys just
- 8:52Speaker 4: kind of hanging out. One guy called his brother man
- 8:55Speaker 4: what seven times yeah and four sentences.
- 8:57Speaker 6: One thought so comfortable and say, hey, you got an
- 8:59Speaker 6: extra hat that you can give.
- 9:00Speaker 4: That's the same brother.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:01Speaker 6: I just went to the truck. I was like, I
- 9:03Speaker 6: think I have.
- 9:03Speaker 4: One here, We'll just starts walking away. JPU and I
- 9:06Speaker 4: are just hanging out. Will just walks away and comes back.
- 9:08Speaker 4: But literally, there was like what a dozen people just
- 9:10Speaker 4: waiting outside more than that, just to meet Dale, just
- 9:13Speaker 4: to shake his hand and say hey, you're the man.
- 9:15Speaker 6: Every day he does the podcast. They're out there every Tuesday.
- 9:18Speaker 6: There are people out there. They said it was a
- 9:19Speaker 6: little bit bigger because it was race week and everything.
- 9:21Speaker 6: But we pulled up. We were pulling up to do
- 9:24Speaker 6: our podcast. He's already in the middle of doing another one,
- 9:26Speaker 6: so we have to wait for that one to get
- 9:28Speaker 6: done and our two and a half hours goes in
- 9:29Speaker 6: our podcast, we do the tour and everything else. He's
- 9:32Speaker 6: still he hasn't like walked out there yet, but people
- 9:34Speaker 6: got there so early. There's probably thirty to forty people
- 9:36Speaker 6: just sitting outside of JR Junior Motorsports.
- 9:39Speaker 4: There was a little girl from London. There was a family,
- 9:42Speaker 4: it's a seven year old from Britain just waiting.
- 9:45Speaker 6: It was nuts Bro see him.
- 9:47Speaker 4: Yeah, let's go see Dale. This is wild man.
- 9:51Speaker 6: They're waiting out there for hours. Bro basically tailgating just
- 9:54Speaker 6: for him to come outside after he does podcasting. To sign,
- 9:58Speaker 6: to sign autographs.
- 10:00Speaker 5: Yeah, he's a man dude, which Taylor and I were
- 10:02Speaker 5: texting as we are. It seems like we're hiring a
- 10:04Speaker 5: couple of new people. We might need to throw Dale
- 10:07Speaker 5: and offer to either be like the dad, the uncle
- 10:09Speaker 5: or the granddad of.
- 10:11Speaker 6: The pod, just a true ambassador, or bust them with
- 10:14Speaker 6: the boys. He's uncle Dale.
- 10:15Speaker 5: What's so we could just go to Yeah, like, you know,
- 10:17Speaker 5: if we need to let something off our chest, we have.
- 10:19Speaker 6: Dale call in, right, have them call in, Like we
- 10:23Speaker 6: got some questions. Yeah, your advice, we need your mentorship. Dude.
- 10:26Speaker 4: It feels like Dale doesn't. I don't say this in
- 10:29Speaker 4: like a disrespectful I mean it in like a really
- 10:31Speaker 4: cool way. It seems like he just doesn't care about
- 10:33Speaker 4: much other than like his family and like cars, and
- 10:37Speaker 4: people are just like, hey, you should open up a restaurant.
- 10:39Speaker 4: He has a restaurant in the airport. Hey you should
- 10:40Speaker 4: do a podcast? All right, yeah, I'll I'll do it.
- 10:43Speaker 6: I didn't think it was pretty funny that we're going
- 10:46Speaker 6: to I didn't know it at the time, but as
- 10:48Speaker 6: we're walking to basically another terminal to go eat at
- 10:50Speaker 6: his restaurant, I'm thinking we're really committed to supporting Dale.
- 10:54Speaker 6: One of his many ventures that he's doing.
- 10:56Speaker 4: Literally the farthest restaurant away from our Sea Gate concourse
- 11:01Speaker 4: trying out Charlotte Airport, by the way mass chaos, one
- 11:05Speaker 4: of the most confusing the airports I've ever been in.
- 11:06Speaker 4: Mind Tower. I got lost three times because I flew
- 11:08Speaker 4: him fro nashvilley' all flew him from Austin and it
- 11:11Speaker 4: was a bit of a deal just trying to find
- 11:14Speaker 4: the rental car area.
- 11:16Speaker 6: People are just sprinting around everywhere. It was pretty care.
- 11:19Speaker 4: Everyone's in a hurry. Yeah that flight home boys. Let
- 11:23Speaker 4: me tell you something those of you listen who have
- 11:25Speaker 4: listened to this podcast for the last five years.
- 11:27Speaker 6: Grumpy Dad segment.
- 11:29Speaker 4: Will Compton has officially become the grumpy guy of the group.
- 11:32Speaker 6: Dude. He is standing in the middle.
- 11:34Speaker 4: Of the walkway well while me and GP are kind
- 11:36Speaker 4: of tucked back, so there's like lanes. Some lady literally
- 11:40Speaker 4: hit was like pushing somebody in a wheelchair, hits Will
- 11:43Speaker 4: and as she's connecting with Will's shoulder, go excuse me
- 11:46Speaker 4: and bumps him and we had a deep plane. Will's
- 11:48Speaker 4: like just put the fucker down the ground like essentially.
- 11:52Speaker 6: Time out, grumpy, grumpy, But that situation you just explained,
- 11:57Speaker 6: I'm not in the middle. I'm standing there talking with you.
- 12:00Speaker 7: You're right your leer, Yeah, you're right center.
- 12:02Speaker 4: Yeah you're in the right.
- 12:03Speaker 6: Yeah I'm right center. But like, say, hey, on your left,
- 12:07Speaker 6: on your left, like to what you were saying. And
- 12:10Speaker 6: I didn't react to or say anything. I just kind
- 12:11Speaker 6: of turned and I'm just thinking, what the fuck just
- 12:13Speaker 6: had O.
- 12:13Speaker 7: Hey, you looked you play middle linebacker.
- 12:16Speaker 5: I imagine that's the look you gave a quarterback or
- 12:18Speaker 5: running back when they were walking away from us.
- 12:21Speaker 6: Locked in because that shoe was crazy. They they hit
- 12:25Speaker 6: me and then excuse me.
- 12:27Speaker 4: There is there's an epidemic going around in airports where
- 12:29Speaker 4: people are getting too comfortable, like you, it's not your home.
- 12:33Speaker 6: You need to go.
- 12:33Speaker 4: You need to understand this is America. You stay on
- 12:35Speaker 4: the right side of the way when you're walking one way.
- 12:37Speaker 4: You let people get around. If someone's hurrying, you give
- 12:39Speaker 4: them the right away because obviously they're in a bigger
- 12:41Speaker 4: rush than you. But people are getting a little too
- 12:44Speaker 4: comfortable with the bumping, with the hanging out people.
- 12:47Speaker 6: With I know this is a slippery slope, so we
- 12:49Speaker 6: can just I know there's not going to be a
- 12:51Speaker 6: lot of reaction or comment even afterwards, but a lot
- 12:54Speaker 6: of comfortability as well with taking advantage of getting pushed
- 12:57Speaker 6: around the airport, like people in scooters people and deserve it,
- 13:04Speaker 6: and look, I'm all people getting pushed pushed. Yeah, Like
- 13:07Speaker 6: there are some people that you know in your mind
- 13:09Speaker 6: it's like, hey, fucking I walk to your goddamners. And
- 13:14Speaker 6: if you are somebody that is needs service, extra service,
- 13:17Speaker 6: like I'm assuming you're getting to the airport way earlier
- 13:20Speaker 6: than everybody else to where you shouldn't be in a
- 13:22Speaker 6: hurry like that, just getting pushed around by somebody pissed
- 13:24Speaker 6: off doing their job and they're mad doing the service job.
- 13:27Speaker 6: It's like, if you're in that kind of industry, you
- 13:30Speaker 6: should kind of have a little bit of a enthusiasm
- 13:32Speaker 6: about you, you know what I mean, because you're you're
- 13:34Speaker 6: like wanting to help people, right, Yes, So the person
- 13:37Speaker 6: that's like shoving this, that like shoved by me, it
- 13:40Speaker 6: was like, oh, excuse me. It's just kind of like, yeah,
- 13:43Speaker 6: there's a lot of flare that happened in that particular moment,
- 13:45Speaker 6: but I didn't say anything but I was pissed that.
- 13:48Speaker 6: We we get on the plane number one, we're already delayed,
- 13:52Speaker 6: what forty minutes? Delayed forty minutes. Then we get on
- 13:56Speaker 6: the plate and sit down and we're chilling for a
- 13:58Speaker 6: minute before somebody come well literally sitting there for an hour. Yeah,
- 14:01Speaker 6: and then somebody comes on. It's like, oh, they got
- 14:03Speaker 6: to check the break. They're checking the brakes. Yeah, and
- 14:07Speaker 6: something's kind of going on with the breaks. It should
- 14:08Speaker 6: be quick, like we're not. I'm making the decision and
- 14:11Speaker 6: not be doing to not deboard because if we do that,
- 14:13Speaker 6: then we'd have to change the whole break, and I
- 14:15Speaker 6: don't think we have to do that. So then we're
- 14:17Speaker 6: chilling there for another little minute. Yeah, and then it's
- 14:21Speaker 6: the next thing I know, we're deboarding the plane. And
- 14:25Speaker 6: here here's here's where grumpy Will comes in.
- 14:26Speaker 4: Bro. But can I just say, Like when I got
- 14:28Speaker 4: off the plane, Will Will is like facing the wall.
- 14:32Speaker 4: He's like on the phone. So I'm not kind of
- 14:34Speaker 4: doing something. I'm walking around grabbing the water or whatever.
- 14:36Speaker 4: Ye Will turn Will gets out the phone. You turn
- 14:38Speaker 4: around and go, bro, what the fuck are we doing?
- 14:41Speaker 8: Wow?
- 14:42Speaker 4: Yeah? Yeah, what are we doing? Like you're you're essentially
- 14:44Speaker 4: you're a caaring right now. You're you're starting this small
- 14:47Speaker 4: little piece of being a care on my brother. We're
- 14:49Speaker 4: they're just trying to keep us safe, like it is
- 14:50Speaker 4: what it is like, we can't do nothing about us.
- 14:52Speaker 4: Put the fucking plane down. Who cares?
- 14:55Speaker 6: Get me back to Nashville, he said, Bro, are these
- 14:57Speaker 6: safety they're checking the break And I'm like, hey, fucking
- 14:59Speaker 6: kill but like, let us go down, Die young, die hero.
- 15:02Speaker 4: And then will your whole entire thing, your whole thing
- 15:05Speaker 4: about wanting to get home so earlier because you've got
- 15:08Speaker 4: something for rue, You've got that, and you're like, I
- 15:12Speaker 4: want to make sure I give this through before she
- 15:13Speaker 4: goes to sleep, Which is fine. But we go sit
- 15:16Speaker 4: down and we're hanging out. JP. You take the hilarious
- 15:19Speaker 4: the fat ball picture of us. We're chilling. Some guy
- 15:22Speaker 4: comes up talk to us. We get up to go
- 15:23Speaker 4: to the gate because we realize, hey, we're bored. We
- 15:25Speaker 4: might miss the flight.
- 15:26Speaker 6: We might be missing the flight, and Will walks.
- 15:28Speaker 4: Away without the bag, walks with the back and JP's like,
- 15:31Speaker 4: look at this man, He points at the bag. Yeah,
- 15:33Speaker 4: he goes and then you look, you look back at JP.
- 15:37Speaker 4: JP goes, all, I'll meet you guys, I say to
- 15:39Speaker 4: Will while we're walking without you, JP, I go, and
- 15:41Speaker 4: what do you think he's doing over there? Knowing you're
- 15:43Speaker 4: just getting the back. He goes, he's probably got to
- 15:45Speaker 4: pack some stuff up or whatever. Yea, I go, Hey,
- 15:49Speaker 4: I hope he didn't forget anything, and Will just keeps walking.
- 15:52Speaker 4: Where did the gate goes?
- 15:53Speaker 2: Oh?
- 15:54Speaker 4: Fuck? I go, hey, JP's grabbing it. Man handle yourself.
- 15:57Speaker 4: And then he shipped the bag and then he, uh,
- 15:59Speaker 4: we're your wallet at the hotel.
- 16:04Speaker 7: Well wallet at the hotel. And Will almost took the
- 16:06Speaker 7: rental car keys home with him.
- 16:12Speaker 6: Watches he watches busting. So he comes running and you
- 16:15Speaker 6: use here in the distance. Will, He's like, hey, you
- 16:18Speaker 6: got the keys on you and I'm just thinking.
- 16:20Speaker 7: He said, no, they're on the dash. I don't think
- 16:22Speaker 7: they are in hell.
- 16:23Speaker 6: When he said that too, I was like, you know what,
- 16:25Speaker 6: hang on, I unziped my bag and just see him
- 16:27Speaker 6: sitting on top there. But yeah, you know.
- 16:31Speaker 2: The in every city we go to the rental cors
- 16:33Speaker 2: employees and know our pot because that's no but it's
- 16:38Speaker 2: literally every rental cars employee in any city we come
- 16:42Speaker 2: to like, dude, love the show, blah blah blah, even
- 16:44Speaker 2: when you guys aren't even with us. And now is
- 16:46Speaker 2: there like some secret union of rental cars workers and
- 16:50Speaker 2: they're like at the like day one, they're like, you
- 16:52Speaker 2: gotta start watching Busting with the boys.
- 16:53Speaker 4: Yeah. When we flew into Charlotte, we went to go
- 16:57Speaker 4: to get the rental car and some guy slip back
- 16:59Speaker 4: here and ice cat you could see a ten in
- 17:01Speaker 4: his back pocket. I go, I knew exactly what it was, like,
- 17:04Speaker 4: what is that this brand in your back pocket? Goes Yes,
- 17:07Speaker 4: the brand. We do not say the brand, the Boltimore brand.
- 17:10Speaker 4: We essentially are like, you need to do loocy ball ball.
- 17:12Speaker 4: We give him two cans. Oh yeah, yeah, which I
- 17:14Speaker 4: think you're not allowed to do it, but we did.
- 17:16Speaker 4: We checked his idea and everything well, right, we checked
- 17:18Speaker 4: his idea, checked his I he's over to he's over
- 17:20Speaker 4: one thing about airports.
- 17:22Speaker 6: I do want to say the grumpiness was fully due
- 17:27Speaker 6: to we're supposed to land in Nashville. Four p thirty JP.
- 17:30Speaker 6: And I was on South Congres Street in Austin, Texas,
- 17:32Speaker 6: shopping at was it love something? I don't know? I
- 17:35Speaker 6: got rude this dress by the way, way too expensive
- 17:38Speaker 6: of his dress that I didn't even realize until I
- 17:40Speaker 6: was checking out, And yeah, I wanted re knew dead
- 17:44Speaker 6: I was coming home. I wanted to give her the dress.
- 17:46Speaker 6: I wanted to see her face. And then obviously you
- 17:48Speaker 6: got bedtime and everything else that. You know, that's like
- 17:51Speaker 6: a lucky thing that I didn't necessarily have to do.
- 17:53Speaker 6: That I would have had to do that night, but
- 17:55Speaker 6: I did want to give her the dress, and I
- 17:56Speaker 6: knew she would be stoked. So when we're getting delayed
- 17:59Speaker 6: beyond the wind of like I'm just gonna have to
- 18:01Speaker 6: wait to give it to you tomorrow, that's that's where
- 18:03Speaker 6: the grumpiness was truly festering. And the minute we got
- 18:06Speaker 6: beyond like six fifty six forty five, now we're taking
- 18:09Speaker 6: off at seven thirty, it's like, oh, it's already, We're
- 18:13Speaker 6: already beyond it.
- 18:14Speaker 4: Can I tell you something?
- 18:17Speaker 6: Go ahead?
- 18:18Speaker 4: Obviously, that's why you're grumpy, Like you didn't have to
- 18:20Speaker 4: explain any of that. We just told the whole We
- 18:22Speaker 4: just told that entire story.
- 18:24Speaker 6: I know, but I didn't want that to go missing
- 18:25Speaker 6: due to all the grumpy stories that we were singing
- 18:27Speaker 6: in between. But you have guys.
- 18:30Speaker 4: As you got older, you become a grumpy boy. You're
- 18:32Speaker 4: a grumpier guy. Now when do I get grumpy? Right now?
- 18:36Speaker 7: When you're forced to go outside?
- 18:38Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 18:38Speaker 4: No, bro, Yes, Will is an indoor cat. No, he
- 18:41Speaker 4: just wants to sit at home and watch his show.
- 18:43Speaker 6: When else was I grumpy on that tree?
- 18:44Speaker 4: You're like the dad from a Wolf of Wall Street,
- 18:46Speaker 4: the answers of the British accent when he's watching his
- 18:49Speaker 4: show and he gets all mad and he grabs the phone. Hello,
- 18:51Speaker 4: Oh yeah, how are you doing? That's you?
- 18:54Speaker 6: When else?
- 18:55Speaker 4: What are we doing out here?
- 18:56Speaker 6: When else was our grumpy on the trip?
- 18:57Speaker 1: Though?
- 18:57Speaker 5: When we're walking Uh, I don't know if we were
- 19:00Speaker 5: in Austin, Orna or Austin or Charlotte, but we're walking
- 19:04Speaker 5: across the crosswalk and the guy was letting traffic come through,
- 19:08Speaker 5: and we're standing there for a.
- 19:09Speaker 7: Cool ten seconds and Wills, because this guy not see.
- 19:11Speaker 4: Us, he's really turning into that. That is tough. No,
- 19:20Speaker 4: I Will say the whole there is, and I know
- 19:22Speaker 4: we're just take it a step further with the whole,
- 19:24Speaker 4: like getting pushed in a car thing. I was checking
- 19:27Speaker 4: a bag this past Friday, to get on a flight,
- 19:30Speaker 4: and I see a heavier set gentleman standing up. He's
- 19:32Speaker 4: a super tall guy. He stands up, he walks to
- 19:35Speaker 4: the counter, he checks his bag, lifts it up himself,
- 19:37Speaker 4: and they start talking for a while. And I'm kind
- 19:39Speaker 4: of just waiting in line, waiting to put my back up,
- 19:41Speaker 4: and all of a sudden, wheelchair comes out of nowhere
- 19:43Speaker 4: and he sits down, like not struggling to sit down,
- 19:45Speaker 4: and sits down the chair. They wheel him off. I'm
- 19:48Speaker 4: telling you, bro, the preboarding, the preboarding up airports is
- 19:51Speaker 4: getting out of hand. Yeah, especially Southwest because Southwest everyone's
- 19:55Speaker 4: got their seating all the other airlines. But when we
- 19:57Speaker 4: do preboard, it's like thirty people get on the plane.
- 20:00Speaker 6: And then they got to sit in the front, and
- 20:02Speaker 6: so they take all the front seats, all the front.
- 20:04Speaker 6: Because if you're just doing carry on, that front row
- 20:06Speaker 6: is nice because you're like an hour flay. Yeah, you
- 20:09Speaker 6: don't have a checked bag, you're just yeah, you're in
- 20:11Speaker 6: and out. Bro. But these dudes, it is like thirty
- 20:13Speaker 6: people in pre board that are just fucking what do
- 20:16Speaker 6: we fucking you?
- 20:16Speaker 4: Plump up, you're like a three and you get on
- 20:19Speaker 4: there you're the twentieth person on the plane.
- 20:20Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 20:22Speaker 7: Yeah, one other thing about airports.
- 20:25Speaker 6: Then these boys are on me about tipping and nothing
- 20:27Speaker 6: even happening tipping wise.
- 20:29Speaker 7: Hey, nobody brought that up.
- 20:30Speaker 1: No.
- 20:30Speaker 4: I was actually saying, I agree with your tipping strategy.
- 20:32Speaker 6: Okay, because there was a you you that was part
- 20:34Speaker 6: of the grumpiness that you're like Will also with tipping.
- 20:36Speaker 6: I'm thinking, man, I don't even think.
- 20:37Speaker 4: It's that big of a I used to be a
- 20:39Speaker 4: big tipper and I've gotten to like I'm a standard
- 20:41Speaker 4: twenty percent guy unlesson he goes above and beyond on
- 20:43Speaker 4: my head at twenty five. But Will Lily has it
- 20:45Speaker 4: you have an evaluation process.
- 20:47Speaker 6: Yeah, and it's not like that strict. I'm just thinking,
- 20:49Speaker 6: if you're doing bad at your job of service, you
- 20:53Speaker 6: are going to get hit with that. You gotta affect
- 20:56Speaker 6: their pockets. Bro.
- 20:56Speaker 4: We can have a grumpy podcast today because you bring
- 20:58Speaker 4: up tipping. And it's getting fucking out of hand too.
- 21:00Speaker 4: When they spin that little iPad on you and it
- 21:02Speaker 4: hits in that little that little lazy susan rip around
- 21:06Speaker 4: and it says fucking twenty twenty five thirty. It is
- 21:09Speaker 4: insane that is like, the lowest tip you can do
- 21:12Speaker 4: is twenty percent. You go get thank you COVID. Yeah, bro,
- 21:17Speaker 4: that's when that started. The tipping is getting nuts.
- 21:21Speaker 6: Yeah, it's getting out of hand with star like places
- 21:24Speaker 6: like Starbucks. And he's like, you know, I'm just calling
- 21:27Speaker 6: them mainstream spots, like the big dog spots that have
- 21:29Speaker 6: places absolutely everywhere, Starbucks being one. McDonald's like they're flipping
- 21:33Speaker 6: around and you're seeing tips on there now.
- 21:35Speaker 4: Yeah, especially if you go, I'll get McDonald's.
- 21:41Speaker 6: Yeah, that that was just one that can. I never
- 21:44Speaker 6: like to disrespect McDonald's, but yeah, like the Starbucks and stuff.
- 21:47Speaker 4: McDonald's got a cult behind them.
- 21:48Speaker 6: Man.
- 21:49Speaker 4: There is a war of just soldiers of the two
- 21:52Speaker 4: arches that are ready to go at any point.
- 21:54Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, your boy. I used to love McDonald's.
- 21:58Speaker 4: But when I get going into a coffee shop and
- 22:01Speaker 4: I say I'll take an ice black coffee, and before
- 22:05Speaker 4: I even am done paying the bill, it's sitting there
- 22:07Speaker 4: because all they did was put ice and coffee in
- 22:09Speaker 4: a cup, and it flips around me and the lowest
- 22:12Speaker 4: thing I can do is twenty percent.
- 22:15Speaker 6: We're what I have not added to my bag, which
- 22:17Speaker 6: I do need to is again. You want to do
- 22:20Speaker 6: it in as less steps as possible because we're all
- 22:22Speaker 6: lazy human beings. But we need to hit custom and
- 22:25Speaker 6: put it in a custom tip.
- 22:27Speaker 5: No, what we need is a debit card that looks
- 22:31Speaker 5: like a reverse UNO card and hand it to them.
- 22:36Speaker 5: There's your solution, Oh babe me, that is funny mansus
- 22:42Speaker 5: out of nowhere or reverse UNO card.
- 22:44Speaker 4: Welcome to bus with the Boys. Twenty two minutes of bitching.
- 22:46Speaker 4: That's what we did here today on this episode. And
- 22:48Speaker 4: that's okay. If you have a complaint, dude, hit in

- 24:01Speaker 6: Oh wait, not that one, because that's a that's a

- 24:09Speaker 6: was watching because we get to have all these sponsorships.
- 24:12Speaker 6: But right, uh ab bankrupt? You saw that?
- 24:16Speaker 4: Just another stat man thirty thirty?
- 24:18Speaker 6: Yeah, what he's a mass like eighty eight million dollars
- 24:20Speaker 6: in his career, and apparently there's a claim out there
- 24:23Speaker 6: that he has less than fifty thousand in total assets.
- 24:26Speaker 6: Now that could be fugazi fugazy, who knows, but apparently
- 24:29Speaker 6: he has went bankrupt.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:31Speaker 4: But there was like a video that came out a
- 24:32Speaker 4: few years ago of him and that's an all White
- 24:34Speaker 4: house and he's like this sixty million dollars paid in full.
- 24:37Speaker 6: Paid for. But he's also got that reputation of essentially
- 24:41Speaker 6: not paying anybody that has worked for him, because he's
- 24:43Speaker 6: been he's.
- 24:44Speaker 4: Gotten sued by like a few different people.
- 24:46Speaker 6: I believe yeh and ab if you're if you're listening
- 24:48Speaker 6: to this clip or watching the podcast, you're more welcome
- 24:51Speaker 6: to come on the bus. Yeah no quote you on
- 24:53Speaker 6: the bus? Yes es yeah, yeah, yeah, I know that
- 24:58Speaker 6: is an active account that's ran a by somebody else.
- 25:01Speaker 6: I saw Billy Football challenging him to a Rough and
- 25:03Speaker 6: Rowdy So like, hey, if you are bankrupt, if you
- 25:06Speaker 6: don't have any money, you can make some good cash
- 25:08Speaker 6: at Rough and Rowdy. I will fight you, I'll box you.
- 25:11Speaker 6: Jose Canseeko made a cool three million dollars. Think about it.
- 25:15Speaker 4: Can I say something, Yeah, AB body bags Batman if
- 25:21Speaker 4: there's a boxing match.
- 25:23Speaker 6: I mean, yeah, you'd assume so. But I love the
- 25:25Speaker 6: strategy here of Billy football. Yes, you know what I mean.
- 25:28Speaker 6: Like he's great, he's grinding, trying to find his way.
- 25:31Speaker 6: He's always trying to find his you know, pieces of
- 25:33Speaker 6: content that he can make. And the man has no
- 25:35Speaker 6: fear calling anybody out to get in the boxing ring.
- 25:38Speaker 4: Yeah, which you gotta respect. Gotta respect that.
- 25:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:40Speaker 4: By the way, assets you look at that photo scoll
- 25:42Speaker 4: up a little bit Jackie good one for a reference
- 25:44Speaker 4: piece when we're on the YouTube, and you can look
- 25:46Speaker 4: at it right now as mtch just putting it in there.
- 25:48Speaker 4: That's a lot of assets just on his body. Yeah,
- 25:51Speaker 4: a couple hundred thousand at least. Yeah, and he knows
- 25:54Speaker 4: what they're paid for.
- 25:54Speaker 2: It says he is three million dollars to eight different
- 25:57Speaker 2: creditors and then one includes a one point two million
- 26:00Speaker 2: dollar lawsuit against a truck driver that I guess AB
- 26:04Speaker 2: failed to appear in court, So one point two million
- 26:07Speaker 2: and some court dispute, and then the remaining are.
- 26:11Speaker 4: Just a creditors.
- 26:12Speaker 2: So he's been charging their credit card.
- 26:15Speaker 4: I hate to see it. Damn yeah, more now than ever.
- 26:21Speaker 4: Imagine if a b is went't that brought up to
- 26:23Speaker 4: the court reverse, It's like, damn, case is closed.
- 26:27Speaker 6: I'm just trying to make Cracker of the Day for him.
- 26:31Speaker 4: You could easily make that.
- 26:32Speaker 6: Hopefully he's got Cracker the day. Yes, every now and
- 26:35Speaker 6: then you see, uh, whoever post on his account, they
- 26:38Speaker 6: make Cracker the day.
- 26:39Speaker 4: You haven't seen that, No, I ain't seen that.
- 26:42Speaker 6: We'll eat you on the internet. Got Hey, I'm just
- 26:48Speaker 6: thinking about Dale's cou.
- 26:50Speaker 1: No.
- 26:51Speaker 4: And it was one of those things where it didn't
- 26:53Speaker 4: mean to be a shot, but obviously the world we
- 26:55Speaker 4: live in, that's an obvious shot. Yeah, And I'm just like, yeah,
- 26:58Speaker 4: you do crush social media.
- 26:59Speaker 6: Brother. We're sitting there and he's like giving me flowers
- 27:01Speaker 6: and I'm sitting there, you know, accepting the compliments. But
- 27:04Speaker 6: just in my brain, I'm thinking JP's getting here, this
- 27:06Speaker 6: Taylor sitting here hearing this, and then he's like and
- 27:08Speaker 6: then he says the Taylor comment. It just all it
- 27:11Speaker 6: like all comes and you look over at JP and
- 27:12Speaker 6: he starts like just losing.
- 27:13Speaker 4: He's laying on the couch laughing, like you know when
- 27:17Speaker 4: that JP laying down, kicking his legs up and down
- 27:21Speaker 4: like a child too excited crack of the day.
- 27:25Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't know if he does it every day.
- 27:29Speaker 4: Yeah he did, Luca yesterday?
- 27:31Speaker 6: Did he or scrolling through AB's timeline right now, just
- 27:34Speaker 6: saw uh did he's apology?
- 27:37Speaker 4: Oh here's an apology out there? Yeah? I mean I
- 27:40Speaker 4: thought he just dipped to Spain or something.
- 27:42Speaker 2: It's over for that man, it's over for he can
- 27:45Speaker 2: illgally apologize all of it. He couldn't legally mention Cassie's
- 27:49Speaker 2: name in the apology. That's how bad it is. Legally.
- 27:51Speaker 4: He can't even say her own name.
- 27:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:55Speaker 4: Yeah, bro, did you see the video in the hotel
- 27:57Speaker 4: room in the hotel elevator area. Yeah, I mean he
- 28:02Speaker 4: writes the ship out of that one.
- 28:03Speaker 6: Yeah, bro, Like you never want to throw this term
- 28:06Speaker 6: around loosely and lightly, but I hope he gets raped
- 28:09Speaker 6: in prison. You just those are the those are the
- 28:14Speaker 6: ones that you know in every every capter, like everybody
- 28:17Speaker 6: who's this just and rages, which is the majority of people,
- 28:21Speaker 6: Like that is what is being said between every friend group.
- 28:23Speaker 6: It's like you want him to have the absolute worst,
- 28:26Speaker 6: most misery.
- 28:26Speaker 4: No one's saying that on camera, but everyone's saying that
- 28:29Speaker 4: off camera. You're just saying it on camera. Correct, You're
- 28:31Speaker 4: just saying what everybody else is thinking.
- 28:32Speaker 6: Correct.
- 28:33Speaker 4: Remember the movie Get Him to the Greek. Well, he's
- 28:36Speaker 4: Lily sitting at Jonahill being like, mind fucking you right now?
- 28:38Speaker 6: I know, I hope you were in a condom.
- 28:40Speaker 4: Yeah, because think about getting sucks. Isn't that crazy? That
- 28:44Speaker 4: movie is so good too? And he's a good character
- 28:47Speaker 4: in that movie.
- 28:49Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't know if you could say he's a
- 28:50Speaker 6: good character. He's a pretty bad human being.
- 28:52Speaker 4: He's a bad.
- 28:54Speaker 6: I don't know, bro, I don't think you can. You
- 28:57Speaker 6: think he's a great actor.
- 29:00Speaker 4: He's talented, Like, whoaa, he's got some bad ship going on.
- 29:07Speaker 4: He was he was good in that movie. And I'll
- 29:10Speaker 4: say that, I don't know. He was good in that movie. Okay,
- 29:13Speaker 4: I'm not defending Diddy supporting No, I'm not what. He's
- 29:18Speaker 4: good in that movie. So you're supporting him. You think
- 29:20Speaker 4: he's gonna go and get another movie now because I
- 29:22Speaker 4: just said that, So it's like, oh, fun, Yeah, you
- 29:24Speaker 4: know what, Taylor's right, he was good in that movie.
- 29:25Speaker 4: Let's let's cast him for that role even.
- 29:27Speaker 6: I think if you end up in a movie one day,
- 29:29Speaker 6: our intenna has to go up.
- 29:30Speaker 4: Now get that, brother, it's coming up.
- 29:36Speaker 6: What circles have you been talking to?
- 29:39Speaker 4: Listen, we're not going on the st Tell you.
- 29:41Speaker 6: Guys to get superuncmfortable. Let me get out of here.
- 29:43Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm with will.
- 29:46Speaker 6: Oh Father's Day merch is out. We do have some
- 29:49Speaker 6: a pivot. The flopp the floppy girl dad dad hats.
- 29:52Speaker 6: Those are in stock now, those are in the store. Look,
- 29:56Speaker 6: our Father's Day merch absolutely goes so fucking hard.
- 29:59Speaker 4: It does, it really does. And let me know what
- 30:02Speaker 4: kind of hat guy you are. Because the floppy hats,
- 30:04Speaker 4: I know people are gonna buy the hats they like
- 30:05Speaker 4: the flopp hats. It doesn't fit my head the right way. Yeah,
- 30:07Speaker 4: I don't like those hats. But the deeper sitting hats,
- 30:10Speaker 4: like the hat you're wearing right now, or wear those
- 30:11Speaker 4: bad boys all day. It's kind of like a line
- 30:13Speaker 4: in the sand. Not a lot of people can are
- 30:14Speaker 4: diverse enough to handle both hats.
- 30:16Speaker 2: What hat guy are you do you mean like the
- 30:19Speaker 2: actual like dad hats, the.
- 30:20Speaker 4: Actual dad like the harder part at the front where
- 30:25Speaker 4: it kind of stands up on his own, and then
- 30:26Speaker 4: there's like the more shallow hat that kind of you
- 30:28Speaker 4: hold it up and it kind of like it indents itself. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 30:33Speaker 4: it's not a dad hat.
- 30:34Speaker 8: Guy.
- 30:34Speaker 4: I guess I'm a bust with the boys dead haad guy.
- 30:36Speaker 4: When they're a little stronger up top, they're more erect.
- 30:39Speaker 2: You know what else we have out with the recent
- 30:42Speaker 2: episode with Coach Callahan and our episode's coming out is
- 30:45Speaker 2: our beautiful run left hats.
- 30:48Speaker 4: That is true, the return jayse Latham.
- 30:51Speaker 6: We running left this year.
- 30:52Speaker 4: We're running left this year.
- 30:53Speaker 1: Brother.
- 30:53Speaker 4: I mean, you got jac Latham, you got Peter Skronski,
- 30:57Speaker 4: two young cats in their early twenties holding on that
- 30:59Speaker 4: left side for probably the next ten to fifteen years.
- 31:02Speaker 2: Did you see that photo of Skronsky that came out
- 31:03Speaker 2: like two days ago. No, he's added like ten pounds
- 31:06Speaker 2: of muscle and cut some and show looks like a
- 31:08Speaker 2: bee's showing.
- 31:09Speaker 4: I gotta find and give me a second.
- 31:11Speaker 6: Dude, don't bring on the screen because that type of
- 31:13Speaker 6: shit is where I get excited. Please don't put on
- 31:19Speaker 6: the screen.
- 31:19Speaker 4: That don't put on the screen, will will get hard.
- 31:21Speaker 6: Nobody had the blood starts flowing below the belt. When
- 31:24Speaker 6: a football guy is just like, oh he puts on
- 31:26Speaker 6: ten pounds of muscle, he's cutting some fat. Yeah, they
- 31:29Speaker 6: start to the top, starts to get a little heavier,
- 31:31Speaker 6: You start to get.
- 31:32Speaker 4: That v and yeah, God, have those pants right now
- 31:36Speaker 4: a little tighter?
- 31:38Speaker 6: Yeah, thankfully they're cutting off the blood for a little bit.
- 31:41Speaker 4: Dude, Scronsky, though had a decent had a decent rookie year,
- 31:46Speaker 4: missed a couple of games because of appendicitis or some
- 31:48Speaker 4: shit like that, like war daddy type shit. He missed games.
- 31:51Speaker 4: Four kids, a stud kids, a stunt. I think he's
- 31:54Speaker 4: gonna do really well. Love the fact that he's rocking
- 31:56Speaker 4: the sevens. Love the fact that he DM me and
- 31:59Speaker 4: asked if he could of the sevens as if like
- 32:01Speaker 4: he's had any say.
- 32:02Speaker 6: He's a pro at all. Yeah, that's respect, that's a
- 32:04Speaker 6: sign of respect.
- 32:05Speaker 4: And then Latham literally has trench King tattooed on his body.
- 32:11Speaker 4: I mean, that is not a tattoo I would get,
- 32:13Speaker 4: but ship, I fuck with that mentality.
- 32:16Speaker 6: JP, who's the NBA guy rocking our dad hat? Mike
- 32:19Speaker 6: Conley saw him rocking the dead had Niles Paul, former
- 32:23Speaker 6: teammate of mine, played in the league quite a while.
- 32:25Speaker 6: He just had a girl. He was repping the girl
- 32:27Speaker 6: that hat you just you love to see, you love
- 32:31Speaker 6: to see it.
- 32:32Speaker 4: I pulled up that clip that's were on Davenport real quick,
- 32:34Speaker 4: Jacon Latham. If you're watching this, Wenna put you on
- 32:36Speaker 4: game real quick. Brother, well club the clip that's right there.
- 32:39Speaker 4: Oh right here, Yeah, go back to the beginning, j C.
- 32:45Speaker 4: Listen up, brother, One thing right now in the film,
- 32:48Speaker 4: right now, if you're running a outside zone, which I'm
- 32:50Speaker 4: assuming that's what it looks like, you're stepping with your
- 32:51Speaker 4: inside foot, though I wouldn't do that. You want to
- 32:54Speaker 4: step outside foot, and then you're throwing both your hands
- 32:57Speaker 4: on the outside shoulder. You did that, you're gonna be
- 32:59Speaker 4: able to turn the guy's shoulder and allow the guard
- 33:00Speaker 4: to overtake that, making a whole much faster to get
- 33:03Speaker 4: up to the linebacker. It's gonna help your angles a
- 33:05Speaker 4: whole lot more getting up. That third step you take
- 33:07Speaker 4: is gonna be the angle step you take to get
- 33:09Speaker 4: to the linebacker at the pace you want. But if
- 33:11Speaker 4: you turn the shoulders, you're making the read for the
- 33:13Speaker 4: back and it's gonna make it put the linebacker in
- 33:15Speaker 4: a really bad pitch where he can't dip and rip you.
- 33:18Speaker 4: But if you're not running outside zone there I can
- 33:20Speaker 4: go fuck myself. I'm just letting you know. You change
- 33:23Speaker 4: those couple of things right there we are. We might
- 33:25Speaker 4: have two two thousand yard runers this year.
- 33:27Speaker 1: Two.
- 33:28Speaker 4: Yeah, that one little technique. But dude, I'm I'm fired up.
- 33:33Speaker 4: Show the video of a late Scronsky going down. I
- 33:36Speaker 4: also I made a mistake.
- 33:38Speaker 2: It was not Scaransky US Soil, it was our Voyd
- 33:40Speaker 2: Dylan Raidens.
- 33:42Speaker 4: Yes, pull up this photo. Let's get Dilly a little
- 33:46Speaker 4: bit of love. On the On the show North Dakota
- 33:48Speaker 4: State University. Guy comes in, humble cat, married to the
- 33:53Speaker 4: love of his life, wonderful woman by the way, absolutely
- 33:56Speaker 4: wonderful woman. Came had an a Cellen college. He gets
- 34:01Speaker 4: an opportunity to start once I go down with a
- 34:04Speaker 4: knee playing the Chargers. I'm at that game and the
- 34:06Speaker 4: boy has a little buckle, gets an ACL He's had
- 34:09Speaker 4: some bad luck in the league, but he has the want,
- 34:11Speaker 4: he has the drive. He's a smart cat. He loves
- 34:14Speaker 4: Bill Callahan like this, dude, this guy needs an op.
- 34:17Speaker 4: I hope he finds his way On the starting five.
- 34:20Speaker 4: I know he's playing a little guard for the boys. Now.
- 34:22Speaker 4: He's like a strict guard only guy now, not his
- 34:24Speaker 4: favorite thing he wants to do. He obviously wants to
- 34:26Speaker 4: be a tackle. But brother just got a get.
- 34:28Speaker 6: Heel Brandon, Sheriff, Hell, get it? How you live Brandon?
- 34:31Speaker 6: Brandon from the outside move of the inside, be one
- 34:34Speaker 6: of the most dominant guards in the league. Get paid
- 34:36Speaker 6: a lot of money.
- 34:36Speaker 4: Sheriff, Dude, Well, he's a top ten pick, top of
- 34:39Speaker 4: fifteen pick.
- 34:40Speaker 6: Yeah he was. He was a first rounder as well.
- 34:42Speaker 4: And played left tackle at Iowa Kids. An absolute study,
- 34:44Speaker 4: classic Iowa offensive lineman by the way.
- 34:46Speaker 6: Classic.
- 34:47Speaker 4: Oh yeah, just a corn fed boy who likes to
- 34:50Speaker 4: get after it hunts. I see me some Dylan. Now,
- 34:53Speaker 4: Dylan does like to do some CrossFit bullshit, which I'm
- 34:55Speaker 4: not a huge fan of. But whatever I digress.

- 37:14Speaker 6: out of if I'm out of body wash and I
- 37:16Speaker 6: still have shampoo left, like, I'll just shampoo my entire body.
- 37:19Speaker 6: I don't know, I think because I'm thinking it's cleaning
- 37:22Speaker 6: my hairs. I got hairs on my body, Like, Okay,
- 37:24Speaker 6: if it's good for my head, then it's got to
- 37:26Speaker 6: be good for my body.
- 37:27Speaker 4: The hair and skin are different. I would suggest you
- 37:28Speaker 4: look into that a little bit. But this is not much.
- 37:30Speaker 4: That was the old days. That was the old way.
- 37:33Speaker 4: Your skin does look nice.
- 37:34Speaker 6: Yeah, and you can feel when you don't do the skin.
- 37:36Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a whole different vibe on the cheeks. Man,
- 37:39Speaker 4: it is Uh. This is not my shout no free
- 37:41Speaker 4: shot out, but just having this conversation and being presented
- 37:43Speaker 4: by Duke Cannon, shout out, no free shout out black
- 37:45Speaker 4: guys because they are so much better than white guys
- 37:50Speaker 4: at hygiene, so much better. Don't do that. Don't do
- 37:54Speaker 4: what you're doing right now.
- 37:56Speaker 6: Stop keep going. You got it.
- 37:58Speaker 4: When you get into an NFL room were even a
- 38:00Speaker 4: college offer room. Black guys do such a better job
- 38:03Speaker 4: of cleaning their face every day, while white guys do
- 38:05Speaker 4: the rints. You get the armpits, you get the nuts,
- 38:08Speaker 4: you get your ass crack, you get out of there.
- 38:10Speaker 4: Black guys help the white guys get better, HIJI, So
- 38:12Speaker 4: shout out to them for that.
- 38:15Speaker 1: Shout out.
- 38:15Speaker 6: He all gotta stop, Jack shout out. No fore shadow
- 38:21Speaker 6: is going to be the dealing redunds.
- 38:22Speaker 2: My shodow really does got a dealing. Two years ago,
- 38:25Speaker 2: I was a late filling for the beer Olympics. People
- 38:27Speaker 2: forget I did compete. I should have won, but you
- 38:29Speaker 2: guys cheated.
- 38:30Speaker 4: But we'll talk about that later, you and Ruse.
- 38:33Speaker 2: But my shoutout goes to my partner and him looking
- 38:35Speaker 2: like a nice little piece of unit.
- 38:37Speaker 6: Here.
- 38:37Speaker 2: You know that tattoo sleeves really come along and he's
- 38:41Speaker 2: just looking a little agile, a little a shifty, a
- 38:44Speaker 2: guy who's laterally quick.
- 38:45Speaker 4: So I'm excited to see him.
- 38:46Speaker 6: And looking at Trice, I'm just climbing the mountain.
- 38:49Speaker 4: Brother, he's been on the mountain range. Dude hang out
- 38:51Speaker 4: with horses, getting kicked in the back of his arm.
- 38:53Speaker 4: He looks fantastic.
- 38:55Speaker 6: Mitch, what is your shoutout? No free shadow of the week.
- 38:58Speaker 4: That's not my shouting now for shadow, by the way,
- 39:00Speaker 4: I think, but will this is my last thing I
- 39:01Speaker 4: gonna say about Diddy. This is the last thing I'm
- 39:03Speaker 4: gonna say about Diddy. Then we're gonna put it the
- 39:06Speaker 4: last thing you guys. Ready, he was good and get
- 39:09Speaker 4: him to the Greek Okay, he was. They gave and
- 39:22Speaker 4: do a chant the right way. Go ahead, Mitch, one guy.
- 39:29Speaker 6: Man always one guy O.
- 39:32Speaker 4: Can't get right, get right even Mit said.
- 39:35Speaker 1: Boom, Yeah, that's a straight shot.
- 39:38Speaker 6: That's fair.
- 39:38Speaker 4: That was going into the head shot.
- 39:41Speaker 6: Go ahead, six a m all.
- 39:43Speaker 1: Right, I mean my shadow shot out this week.
- 39:46Speaker 8: It goes to when you had like a bar or
- 39:49Speaker 8: something and there's live music and you just get mesmerized
- 39:53Speaker 8: by people like ripping the guitar and like, I just
- 39:56Speaker 8: wish I could do that, and then they go from
- 39:59Speaker 8: one instant to the other and then they just are
- 40:02Speaker 8: ripping with the same intensity. It's just I think that
- 40:06Speaker 8: is just so cool. Like so if I go to
- 40:08Speaker 8: like kid Rocks or something, I literally just stand there
- 40:09Speaker 8: with a beer in my hand, just watching the guitar
- 40:11Speaker 8: guy just going insane, can't say.
- 40:14Speaker 6: Something JP with yours?
- 40:17Speaker 4: Hold on. I do feel that that's a good shout,
- 40:21Speaker 4: no fore shadows.
- 40:21Speaker 8: I feel like there's just I mean, anything I say
- 40:23Speaker 8: nowadays is just kind of okay, cool whatever.
- 40:26Speaker 4: That's a good shoutout, no free shot. That's a quality shout,
- 40:28Speaker 4: no free shutout. But I think you forget we're doing
- 40:31Speaker 4: a show, and so when there's zero enthusiasm in your voice,
- 40:35Speaker 4: it's hard to get behind literally anything you're saying. You
- 40:38Speaker 4: literally just sound like somebody died. But you were telling
- 40:41Speaker 4: me about somebody ripping an instrument. We're doing a show
- 40:44Speaker 4: right now. Do you want to do it again? Do
- 40:49Speaker 4: you shout it again?
- 40:50Speaker 6: Bro?
- 40:51Speaker 8: Hey? Uh?
- 40:52Speaker 4: The last thing I'll say about Diddy. He was good
- 40:54Speaker 4: at Get Him to the Green, Will did bad at
- 40:57Speaker 4: Booth the man Mitch, you want to do your shadow
- 40:58Speaker 4: no free shadowt.
- 40:59Speaker 8: Yeah, my shoutow, new free shot out this week. This
- 41:03Speaker 8: happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I was
- 41:04Speaker 8: at a bar and we were sitting up top and
- 41:09Speaker 8: they were the live music there, which just absolutely insane,
- 41:14Speaker 8: and I personally just get mesmerized by people who can
- 41:19Speaker 8: just rip instruments, and I think it's so cool because
- 41:23Speaker 8: I know that I can't do it.
- 41:24Speaker 1: And then when they're.
- 41:25Speaker 8: Just like just strumming along or just playing the piano
- 41:28Speaker 8: or whatever they're playing and just with with ease, and
- 41:31Speaker 8: they just make it look so cool. Like I'll just
- 41:33Speaker 8: stand there in a bar and just stare at the
- 41:36Speaker 8: guitar player like I'm just like I don't know, just
- 41:39Speaker 8: giving them like fuck me eyes or something because I
- 41:41Speaker 8: think it is so cool.
- 41:42Speaker 1: But that is my shotow, no free shout.
- 41:44Speaker 4: Out better JP, jeezus, you're staring at him with fuck
- 41:51Speaker 4: me eyes.
- 41:54Speaker 5: My shout out, no free shout out. I'm gonna tell
- 41:56Speaker 5: you who it doesn't go to. It doesn't go to
- 41:59Speaker 5: the people that put their backpacks above the bins on
- 42:03Speaker 5: the airplanes, because I think that is the thing that's
- 42:08Speaker 5: holding up the boarding process is people there's no there's
- 42:11Speaker 5: no storage, so then people have to check their bags
- 42:14Speaker 5: at the gate. And then I walk down the aisle
- 42:16Speaker 5: and look up in these bins and I see people's
- 42:18Speaker 5: tiny backpacks taking up space. So it just it really
- 42:23Speaker 5: bothers me. And it's not I'm not shouting anybody out.
- 42:25Speaker 5: I'm let you know who I'm not shouting.
- 42:28Speaker 4: Yeah, you want to say who you're talking about?
- 42:33Speaker 7: What do you do that?
- 42:34Speaker 6: That that filtered through him like I think he thinks
- 42:37Speaker 6: you're talking about I'm.
- 42:38Speaker 7: Not talking about it. I didn't know you did that.
- 42:41Speaker 6: Bro. When we got that little JANKI backpack, he does,
- 42:43Speaker 6: he throws it up top Hold on, kid.
- 42:46Speaker 7: First class is different.
- 42:49Speaker 4: Literally, when we got on the flight for the first time,
- 42:50Speaker 4: before we deplaned, I had my backpack in my hand.
- 42:53Speaker 4: The old guy that was next it next to me
- 42:55Speaker 4: on speakerphone calling his wife on full volume. He goes, Hey,
- 42:58Speaker 4: do you want to put that backpack up top of
- 43:00Speaker 4: I'll put it under and we deep plane and we
- 43:02Speaker 4: get back and I was like, you know what, I
- 43:04Speaker 4: will put it up this time. So I put it
- 43:07Speaker 4: up and then he said that. I was like, oh,
- 43:09Speaker 4: he's got to be he. I don't know how JP
- 43:11Speaker 4: caught me doing that. I obviously just hold on myself.
- 43:16Speaker 5: I wasn't because first class it is different, Like I mean,
- 43:19Speaker 5: that's y'all's been but Southwest standard boarding it just it
- 43:24Speaker 5: pisses me off.
- 43:25Speaker 7: Put in the scene in front of you.
- 43:27Speaker 4: What's interesting about this the first class thing is sometimes
- 43:29Speaker 4: people like Zone six will be coming on and this
- 43:33Speaker 4: guy who's in the back of the plane will take
- 43:35Speaker 4: a first bin, a first class bin. And I always
- 43:38Speaker 4: thinking it's sneaky. It's a good little strategy if.
- 43:40Speaker 7: It's their power power.
- 43:43Speaker 4: You know he is beneath me. But no, I don't
- 43:46Speaker 4: get mad about that. I just said him trying to
- 43:48Speaker 4: get it how he lives.
- 43:50Speaker 6: Take the out.
- 43:52Speaker 4: Another trick for those of you on on airplanes when
- 43:55Speaker 4: they're like, hey, we're over sold, we're gonna start tagging
- 43:58Speaker 4: people's backs and they come up and at your bag. Bro,
- 44:01Speaker 4: when you're walking down the little jet lane or whatever,
- 44:05Speaker 4: pull that thing off. No one's gonna catch you.
- 44:08Speaker 2: What happens when you get on the plane though, and
- 44:09Speaker 2: there's no overhead space, It's not gonna happen.
- 44:12Speaker 4: Bro, I'm telling you. I'm gonna tell you that.
- 44:14Speaker 6: And now that right there is completely tall on yourself.
- 44:17Speaker 4: Yeah, I do that if they tag my bag, and
- 44:19Speaker 4: I know it's gonna fit like that, right, there's part
- 44:21Speaker 4: of what JP's like.
- 44:23Speaker 6: It slows up the process now that you're part of.
- 44:25Speaker 4: They tag me as I'm walking, I'm ripping that thing
- 44:27Speaker 4: out and put in my back pocket. And then I'll
- 44:28Speaker 4: walk down the aisle, put my shit up. No problem,
- 44:31Speaker 4: that happened Spring Tour last year. Go Aheadkay, what's your shot?
- 44:38Speaker 6: My shot out no for shadow goes to a clean
- 44:40Speaker 6: operation in the theme of airlines and everything else, when
- 44:44Speaker 6: a flight takes off on time, the operation is smooth.
- 44:47Speaker 6: People get on the plane quick, they put their bags
- 44:50Speaker 6: in the right spot, and you're taking off and your
- 44:52Speaker 6: landing maybe even a little earlier. But to me, that's
- 44:55Speaker 6: a small win that I think is becoming a little
- 44:59Speaker 6: more uncommon these days because airlines can't figure their shit
- 45:03Speaker 6: out and taking off on time. So my shout out,
- 45:05Speaker 6: no for shadow goes to a clean operation at airports. Nice,
- 45:10Speaker 6: thank you.
- 45:11Speaker 4: My real shout out, no for shoutout goes to cicadas.
- 45:16Speaker 6: Cicadas.
- 45:16Speaker 4: Cicadas, those little those little bugs that have now just
- 45:19Speaker 4: hatched after like however many years. Why is that they
- 45:22Speaker 4: are slow moving, they don't fly very well, they can't bite.
- 45:26Speaker 4: It's a little kids like playground to go outside and
- 45:30Speaker 4: to catch those things. For hours on end. I will
- 45:33Speaker 4: go sit in the yard as if I'm an old
- 45:35Speaker 4: man in a rocking chair and watch my kids go
- 45:36Speaker 4: catchy cicadas for three to four hours and they are
- 45:39Speaker 4: ripping around. They love it. They'll come up, they'll show
- 45:41Speaker 4: it to me. They're just getting merched left right, and
- 45:43Speaker 4: centecas are being too rough with them. But there's billions
- 45:45Speaker 4: of these motherfuckers run around and I'm pretty sure my
- 45:48Speaker 4: house is a beacon for them. That's where they've literally said,
- 45:50Speaker 4: this is what we're gonna set up base camp.
- 45:51Speaker 6: They are everywhere, up.
- 45:52Speaker 4: The trees, in the trees, in the bushes, on the ground.
- 45:55Speaker 4: I stept on three of them getting here today. Just
- 45:58Speaker 4: walk into my car.
- 45:59Speaker 6: Yeah, they are everywhere.
- 46:02Speaker 4: I love it, so shout shouts.
- 46:04Speaker 6: They're disgusting.
- 46:05Speaker 4: They are creepy looking.
- 46:06Speaker 6: They're creepy, bro. They I'm more of a catch fireflies,
- 46:11Speaker 6: lightning bugs. Yeah, get old wolf a ball bat, y'all
- 46:18Speaker 6: never did that? Yeah, that must be some Missouri ship. Yeah,
- 46:22Speaker 6: I mean I was just a young little I was
- 46:23Speaker 6: just a young little jit with a wolfball bat, you
- 46:26Speaker 6: know what I mean?
- 46:28Speaker 4: In Florida?
- 46:29Speaker 6: Yeah, Green anyway, man, Uh, should we get into the
- 46:35Speaker 6: episode of Rayan Carthon?
- 46:36Speaker 4: We absolutely should.
- 46:38Speaker 6: People are gonna love this episode, especially Titans fans. I mean,
- 46:44Speaker 6: getting to talk to Ryan about the transition with Mike
- 46:46Speaker 6: Vrabel because there's obviously a lot of drama surrounding that.
- 46:49Speaker 6: His journey, his passion to becoming a GM, I thought
- 46:52Speaker 6: was very fascinating where he would pick up magazines. I'm
- 46:55Speaker 6: not gonna give all all the fun away, but this
- 46:58Speaker 6: is an awesome episode. His best cutting stories, like when
- 47:02Speaker 6: he had to cut guys. It gets a little dicey
- 47:03Speaker 6: at times in the in the in the room. Why
- 47:05Speaker 6: he's trying to cut guys at home? Yeah, not losing
- 47:07Speaker 6: at home, the times he's been cut because he bounced
- 47:10Speaker 6: around a few teams within I was it four years? Yeah,
- 47:13Speaker 6: I believe he got four years, four or five years
- 47:15Speaker 6: in the league. Yeah, the expectations for this season, how
- 47:19Speaker 6: he jails with the staff that has been brought in,
- 47:21Speaker 6: why he likes why Brian Callahan he was the first
- 47:24Speaker 6: and the last guy that they basically interviewed, and also
- 47:28Speaker 6: some tear talk that you guys will enjoy.
- 47:30Speaker 4: He also talks about the process of how he became
- 47:32Speaker 4: a GM and how he was still playing football in
- 47:34Speaker 4: that process, and how he got in people's ears. A
- 47:37Speaker 4: very cool networking, networking move by him, and also they
- 47:41Speaker 4: talk about how he cuts me and we knew him
- 47:42Speaker 4: for a month. I knew him for less than a month. Yeah,
- 47:45Speaker 4: and his process of cutting me and all that. And
- 47:46Speaker 4: it was a cool story to hear from his point
- 47:48Speaker 4: of view because the way Ran explains it is exactly.
- 47:50Speaker 6: How it happened. Yeah, now you guys will love it.
- 47:53Speaker 4: Yeah, without being said, let's get to this episode. Winter

- 49:17Speaker 4: Thank you, Mitch.
- 49:18Speaker 6: We finally got late, we got ladies got.
- 49:22Speaker 4: Yeah, And I did say to JP's camera it took
- 49:26Speaker 4: a little hunting, it took a little.
- 49:28Speaker 1: Text let's not do that's that's not.
- 49:30Speaker 4: Can I tell you? Can I tell you from my
- 49:32Speaker 4: from okay with them? So when did you you got
- 49:37Speaker 4: the job? What?
- 49:38Speaker 9: In January January twenty three, January twenty three, being outside
- 49:44Speaker 9: of Rabel's office, sitting with stretch and you came in
- 49:48Speaker 9: and the way the last GM was it was like
- 49:50Speaker 9: you gotta be a little tighter around it, and you
- 49:52Speaker 9: came in, dap me up, Hey love the show.
- 49:54Speaker 4: First thing you said to me, I'm thinking we got them? Yeah,
- 49:57Speaker 4: oh yeah, to come on some I love to come
- 49:59Speaker 4: on some time. Next time I saw you, you're releasing me,
- 50:03Speaker 4: which we all knew was gonna happen to that story,
- 50:09Speaker 4: that story, you guys released me, and I think like
- 50:12Speaker 4: forty eight hours later I hit you with the text
- 50:13Speaker 4: like hey, you want to come on bust with the boys?
- 50:16Speaker 4: Nothing right, Yeah, But finally it's been a year and
- 50:22Speaker 4: it's it's awesome that you've come on now instead of then,
- 50:25Speaker 4: because what you have been able to acquire and do
- 50:27Speaker 4: in this past offseason has been awesome. So it's exciting
- 50:30Speaker 4: to see and.
- 50:31Speaker 6: It's better to have you on the And the only friction,
- 50:33Speaker 6: the only like part that was like, okay, chill out.
- 50:37Speaker 6: He came up to us in the facility when you're
- 50:39Speaker 6: gonna have me on, been waiting on y'all.
- 50:43Speaker 4: Try again, And as we're saying this, I literally said it.
- 50:45Speaker 4: In a year later, it's been like five months, so yeah,
- 50:48Speaker 4: I'll messed that up.
- 50:49Speaker 6: Let's talk about Let's start off, let's talk about the
- 50:52Speaker 6: you cutting him.
- 50:53Speaker 1: Yeah, let's go. So, so the day that you know
- 50:57Speaker 1: we were doing it, you know, we meet in Phrases
- 51:00Speaker 1: office and we come in and we're just chatting and
- 51:02Speaker 1: just just talking literally having a conversation that kind of
- 51:05Speaker 1: goes into I got a comploser, Pauls and so I,
- 51:13Speaker 1: you know, we're just sitting there having a conversation and
- 51:16Speaker 1: I can't even remember what the topic of the conversation was.
- 51:19Speaker 1: And then just him, Okay, so you're releasing me. Transition,
- 51:26Speaker 1: no segue, no nothing, just all right, so you're releasing me.
- 51:32Speaker 1: And then I'm like, uh yeah, I mean I think
- 51:36Speaker 1: he kind of knew it was coming, you know. And
- 51:38Speaker 1: that's how the conversation when.
- 51:39Speaker 4: We got back after Mexico, right, yeah, because I was
- 51:42Speaker 4: in Cabo and Vrabel shout out rabes in this because
- 51:44Speaker 4: a lot of guys don't get to choose when they
- 51:47Speaker 4: get released, because we all knew, like the minute I
- 51:51Speaker 4: had to get my kney done again two out of
- 51:53Speaker 4: three years, like you're here getting canned, brother, You're not
- 51:55Speaker 4: going to be making that kind of money and not
- 51:56Speaker 4: playing on the field. So he calls me and he's like, hey,
- 52:00Speaker 4: we obviously have to release you. You let us know
- 52:02Speaker 4: when the best thing for you is. I was like,
- 52:04Speaker 4: all right, these dates work, and he's like, can you
- 52:05Speaker 4: do it before the combine? I was like, yeah, absolutely,
- 52:07Speaker 4: these days now work. So when I went in, I
- 52:10Speaker 4: had like I kind of came in. We all knew,
- 52:13Speaker 4: and Rave and I are sitting there talking about Jen
- 52:15Speaker 4: and their skiing and it's kind of cool. It's like
- 52:17Speaker 4: it's like a nice a last meal before it's a
- 52:20Speaker 4: gun gets put to your head, right and yeah, you
- 52:22Speaker 4: sit down. We haven't really talked at all the last
- 52:25Speaker 4: thing I said, and in my head, I was like,
- 52:27Speaker 4: we just got to get this going because I know
- 52:28Speaker 4: it's kind of awkward for everybody. You're new, Like you
- 52:31Speaker 4: and I hardly know each other. Raybe and I've been
- 52:33Speaker 4: here for five years. We all understand what's about to
- 52:35Speaker 4: happen here.
- 52:36Speaker 1: So it's like, I say, this the tough part for
- 52:39Speaker 1: me obviously coming into this role, you know, this new
- 52:41Speaker 1: role and being from Afar and you know, having respect
- 52:45Speaker 1: for this team and having respect for certain guys, like
- 52:50Speaker 1: having to release you and like dang, like I remember
- 52:53Speaker 1: this dude coming out of Michigan. I had him rated high,
- 52:56Speaker 1: liked him coming out and watching him become a Pro
- 52:58Speaker 1: Bowl player, and even guys like Robert Woods. You know,
- 53:02Speaker 1: I've missed him at every one of my stops. So
- 53:04Speaker 1: I was at the Rams when we signed him and
- 53:08Speaker 1: then leave a month later, so never got to see
- 53:11Speaker 1: him on the field. I even have Robert Woods in
- 53:14Speaker 1: my GM presentation about players that we've I've been a
- 53:18Speaker 1: part of requiring, you know, the different Pro Bowl caliber players,
- 53:21Speaker 1: but I always have him in there as an example
- 53:23Speaker 1: of a person that's going to come in and change
- 53:25Speaker 1: the culture, you know, of the building. And then I
- 53:28Speaker 1: get here and have to release him, you know. And
- 53:31Speaker 1: so I finally met Robert Woods when we played at
- 53:35Speaker 1: Houston last year and just kind of walked up to
- 53:37Speaker 1: him like, hey, man, like a ton of respect for you.
- 53:40Speaker 1: I met everything I told you on the phone when
- 53:42Speaker 1: we talked that day, Like, have nothing but respect for you.
- 53:45Speaker 1: It's just part of the way this thing works.
- 53:47Speaker 6: Is it hard? Like yeah, I know it's hard, but
- 53:52Speaker 6: you come in and it's like he's highly graded, you
- 53:54Speaker 6: know who he is, He's had his career and on
- 53:57Speaker 6: that last year, it's like the get back year. Finally,
- 54:00Speaker 6: it's like you got to put everything on and then
- 54:02Speaker 6: that first play or second play a buffalo happens. Yeah,
- 54:06Speaker 6: and in your mind as a GM, are you basically
- 54:09Speaker 6: was it fairly simple at that point, like, hey, this
- 54:12Speaker 6: is going to be a guy we're going to have
- 54:13Speaker 6: to release due to money and everything else.
- 54:15Speaker 1: Yeah, the strategy of it is simple. But you know,
- 54:20Speaker 1: and I think you and I share this and being
- 54:22Speaker 1: undrafted guys. And I don't know about you, but I've
- 54:24Speaker 1: been cut a multitude of ways. Yeah, you know, some good,
- 54:27Speaker 1: some inhumane.
- 54:29Speaker 6: You know what's the worst you've been cut?
- 54:31Speaker 1: Uh? I won't say. The team is two one. I
- 54:38Speaker 1: knew I was getting cut. You had to be cut
- 54:41Speaker 1: down coming. I think it'd be pretty easy to figure
- 54:43Speaker 1: it out.
- 54:44Speaker 6: But he was one you had three years.
- 54:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 54:48Speaker 1: So we're playing a preseason game. We're playing in a
- 54:53Speaker 1: place where my wife and my daughter are living. And
- 54:56Speaker 1: so when I come back, when I come on the
- 54:58Speaker 1: team flight, I bring all my stuff home and so
- 55:00Speaker 1: I go to the team after the game. I barely play.
- 55:03Speaker 1: I hadn't doesn't get any practice reps. So I say, hey,
- 55:07Speaker 1: I know what's coming tomorrow. Can I just stay, like,
- 55:11Speaker 1: we can do the cut right now. I'll sign whatever
- 55:13Speaker 1: you need to sign. I'm healthy, that's nothing wrong with me.
- 55:15Speaker 1: It's just more convenient for me to just leave with
- 55:19Speaker 1: my wife and my daughter and go home. I live
- 55:21Speaker 1: fifteen minutes from here. Oh, we don't know what we're doing.
- 55:25Speaker 1: And I'm like, come on, man, Like I was like,
- 55:28Speaker 1: cause if I go back, I'm only bringing what I
- 55:31Speaker 1: have on my body and my wallet. I'm not taking anything.
- 55:34Speaker 6: And players are in tune with like.
- 55:35Speaker 1: Well yeah, and so they oh, man, we don't know
- 55:39Speaker 1: fly back. First person they called next morning is me
- 55:45Speaker 1: and I'm like, so I go in the building. I
- 55:49Speaker 1: already knew that there was like an eleven oh five
- 55:51Speaker 1: flight leaving, so I was like, hey, look, can you
- 55:54Speaker 1: just book me on the eleven oh five? Like no, harm, no, file, Like,
- 55:58Speaker 1: I don't need to meet with anybody, Like, I'm good.
- 56:00Speaker 1: I just just want to go home, and well, you
- 56:02Speaker 1: know you need to meet nah. No, I don't like,
- 56:06Speaker 1: do meet each coach? Yeah? Yeah, and I get the
- 56:10Speaker 1: reason why you do that. But at that point I
- 56:12Speaker 1: was like, and then the other one, My my wife
- 56:18Speaker 1: and my daughter are actually getting ready to move back
- 56:20Speaker 1: home to Miami, and we're doing a going away deal
- 56:25Speaker 1: at my daughter school. I'm passing cupcakes out to the
- 56:29Speaker 1: kids on a Tuesday and get the call in the
- 56:32Speaker 1: middle of passing cupcakes out and I got it. I
- 56:35Speaker 1: look at the phone and I look at her and
- 56:37Speaker 1: she's like, no, because we I mean, we went through it.
- 56:43Speaker 1: So I say all that to say, like, when it's
- 56:45Speaker 1: time to cut people like you, try to do it
- 56:47Speaker 1: the most tactful and most professional and humane way, just
- 56:51Speaker 1: because I've been through it, and you know, you try
- 56:54Speaker 1: to be honest. You know, you try to be honest.
- 56:56Speaker 1: You try to be up front, and you know, I've
- 56:59Speaker 1: had it to where there have been guys that you know,
- 57:01Speaker 1: I didn't particularly see as an NFL player, So you
- 57:03Speaker 1: try to have that conversation. Doesn't always go well, you know,
- 57:06Speaker 1: but you try to be cause I see it a
- 57:08Speaker 1: lot these guys. You know, you're you don't know what
- 57:11Speaker 1: to tell these guys. So sometimes it's hey, man, you're
- 57:14Speaker 1: going to play a long time in this league. You know,
- 57:16Speaker 1: this is just something we gotta do. And now this
- 57:18Speaker 1: team is a numbers game, and now this guy's still
- 57:21Speaker 1: training looking for opportunity. Three four years, five years, when
- 57:25Speaker 1: if you were honest and said, hey, look man, like
- 57:27Speaker 1: this game is probably not for you at this level.
- 57:30Speaker 1: You know, you got a college degree. You might want
- 57:31Speaker 1: to start exploring these things. You know, having that conversation
- 57:35Speaker 1: at least get that in their mind. Like I knew personally.
- 57:38Speaker 1: I said, if if I got to the point where
- 57:40Speaker 1: my number of teams outweighed my years of service, it's
- 57:43Speaker 1: time to do something different. Yeah, and I got there quick.
- 57:46Speaker 1: Five teams in three years. It's time to go.
- 57:49Speaker 4: Five teams in three years. When you're.
- 57:54Speaker 6: Who's a jealous? Answer?
- 57:57Speaker 1: Answer to put it on?
- 57:59Speaker 4: What's up?
- 57:59Speaker 6: Baba?
- 58:00Speaker 4: I got you on the jelly row?
- 58:05Speaker 6: What's up?
- 58:06Speaker 4: How can I help you?
- 58:08Speaker 5: No?
- 58:13Speaker 4: We're getting after brother, We got to bank these things,
- 58:15Speaker 4: getting ready for June.
- 58:16Speaker 6: We need you. I'm prime.
- 58:26Speaker 4: You really are? You really are having that contract to
- 58:29Speaker 4: you right now? It's going nuts. I'm so happy for you.
- 58:35Speaker 4: I'll call you after this a right, love you to see.
- 58:41Speaker 4: You were just talking about him. But when you're when
- 58:45Speaker 4: you're cutting guys, do you find it harder to cut
- 58:50Speaker 4: rookies or cut vets.
- 58:52Speaker 1: It's probably hard to cut vets. Sometimes they see it coming.
- 58:57Speaker 1: Sometimes they don't. So that's that's the hard part. And
- 59:02Speaker 1: vets you generally have a longer conversation, you know what
- 59:05Speaker 1: I mean, especially you know, guys like yourself, who's astute,
- 59:09Speaker 1: and you want to know the why. You know why, Hey, look,
- 59:12Speaker 1: I thought I was playing better than you know, this
- 59:15Speaker 1: guy and this guy. So you have to have those
- 59:17Speaker 1: conversations most of the times. With the rookies. The hard
- 59:21Speaker 1: part with them is you see the emotion, you know
- 59:24Speaker 1: what I mean, because you got to think about it.
- 59:25Speaker 1: Most of these dudes, this is the first time they've
- 59:27Speaker 1: ever been told they weren't good enough, right, you know,
- 59:29Speaker 1: and so you're the first person to ever tell them that.
- 59:32Speaker 1: You have to have that conversation. I mean, you live
- 59:35Speaker 1: through the emotion with them, and so you know, I'm
- 59:39Speaker 1: not that brutal of a human. You see the emotion
- 59:42Speaker 1: of a of another man, it kind of kind of
- 59:44Speaker 1: gets to you a little bit. But then it's you know,
- 59:47Speaker 1: it's it's it becomes one of those things like I say,
- 59:49Speaker 1: if I ever get to the point where it doesn't
- 59:51Speaker 1: affect me, you know, to cut somebody's probably time for
- 59:54Speaker 1: me to look for something else to do.
- 59:56Speaker 6: What's been your stickiest situation cutting a player or maybe
- 1:00:01Speaker 6: you're fumbling over your words. Oh shit, this is not
- 1:00:03Speaker 6: going like I thought.
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: No, I've had a situation where you try to have
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: that real conversation with a player like hey man, like
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: you know, it's probably time of transition, you know, and
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: look for something else to do. I don't know what
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: you're interested in, you know, by all means like let
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: us help you, you know, connect you with the player
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: engagement guy. We can help you figure this out. And
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: what are you saying. I'm like, well, I don't think
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: that you're an NFL player, you know what I mean.
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: And you try to have that conversation and then it,
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: you know, it gets gets a little hostile. You kind
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: of feel that heat. And I mean, I'm not losing
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: at home, you know, like you're my office. One of
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: us is coming out. It's gonna always be. I don't
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: have the win to sit there and box with you. Yeah,
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: I'm so, I'm not doing that. So I have stuff
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: strategically placed if I need to grab and defend myself.
- 1:00:53Speaker 6: If you felt like a tension there.
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: I have. Like when I was much younger, I felt
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: I felt the tension you know before, And it's like,
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: oh man, this could be to day, you know, and
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: it's never it's never got to that point. But then
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: I also have to think about it. Sometimes it's like
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: you essentially fired somebody, and so if that person wants
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: to be upset and express it, like, it's probably best
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: to just deal with it, you know what I mean,
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: and just let that person have the emotion because it
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: is their right to be upset, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: So I just uh, most of the times you have
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: to sit back and just like hey, man, like I understand,
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: I got you. You know.
- 1:01:29Speaker 4: It's so interesting you say it's like it's harder to
- 1:01:32Speaker 4: cut vets, and I get that for like the relationship standpoint,
- 1:01:34Speaker 4: But every VET I've been around, that's like above five years,
- 1:01:38Speaker 4: they always kind of see the right. You're in the
- 1:01:39Speaker 4: game long enough to realize, hey, when it's about to happen.
- 1:01:43Speaker 4: Every single training camp there is always at least one guy,
- 1:01:46Speaker 4: one rookie that you just there. You can see the
- 1:01:50Speaker 4: ignorance of they've been in high school, and in high
- 1:01:52Speaker 4: school say next year, we'll get them. Next year, will
- 1:01:54Speaker 4: get them. There's never a cut college. Hey, I'm going
- 1:01:57Speaker 4: to grow and develop and next year, I'll be a starter,
- 1:01:59Speaker 4: that type of thing, and they just think I'll get
- 1:02:01Speaker 4: them next year if I'm not a start this year.
- 1:02:02Speaker 4: And then all of a sudden they come in the
- 1:02:04Speaker 4: locker room and they're just balling their eyes out. I
- 1:02:06Speaker 4: feel it's got it for me. It's just from the
- 1:02:08Speaker 4: outside of watching it seemed like the rookies always just
- 1:02:11Speaker 4: took it the heart.
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: Yeah, and that's the that's the emotion that you have
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: to deal with. And one of the things I've always encouraged,
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: even when I was just a pro scout. When I
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: was a pro scout, my job was going to get them,
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: you know, so I was the reaper or whatever they
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: call them, theilding. But what I always tried to do
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: was I always tried to do it. And and because
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: again I've been cut every which way, and so if
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: I especially a VET, I would never follow behind the vet.
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: I would catch the vet one on one. Hey, look
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: you need to come up and see coach. You go
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: see coach. And then I just tell them because now
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: I have to walk you around through the exit process,
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: and I'm like, hey, look, to help you avoid the
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: questions from your teammates, we're gonna go from here, you're
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: going to go to medical. From medical to equipment, and
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: then I'll be loosely by you without anybody suspecting me around.
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: So I would just blend in, you gotta go see
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: medical as while you're meeting with the trainers, I'm over
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: here joking with this guy, talking to this guy, make
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: eye contact with the trainer, like hey, are we good,
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: and then when they leave go to the equipment room,
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: I kind of loosely follow behind. So when I was
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: doing it, you would never know that I'm following this dude. Yeah,
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: you know what I mean. And so when I got
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: a position to have other people do it, I would say, hey,
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: like give them the respect. Yeah, don't try to walk
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: behind them with the paper and like, no, you need
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: to go, like give them the respect because the last
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: thing you want is for the walk through that locker
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: room and everybody's like, damn, you got cut everybody. That's
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: the last down. Yeah, that's the last thing you want.
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: So I always try to do it with respect.
- 1:03:50Speaker 4: Is that like I think you've acquired over time or
- 1:03:53Speaker 4: the first time you knew you're gonna have to be
- 1:03:55Speaker 4: the grim reaper, you were like I have to be
- 1:03:56Speaker 4: as respectful as possible.
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: Well, the first time, I'm never forget the first person
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: I cut. It was the day they're saying, we're I
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: have to get this guy. He decides to do extra.
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: No he didn't. He didn't play after that, and so
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: he's doing extra on the field. It's ot A and
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: I'm like waiting and I'm trying to catch him, you know,
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: catch him one on one. So he huddles up with
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: a group of vets and he's walking. I'm on a
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: time limit, right because they were like we need to
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: have him up here about twelve fifteen. It's like twelve
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: oh five, and I'm like and I'm trying to make
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: eye contact with him as he's walking with the vets
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: and he's not making.
- 1:04:42Speaker 4: Eye Couns knows he of course he knows.
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: I don't know. He's like in.
- 1:04:47Speaker 6: Your money as a player, Like, what do you think
- 1:04:48Speaker 6: is going to happen? Like you're away? Yeah, yeah, you'll
- 1:04:52Speaker 6: just be on the week one rotter.
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: So then I had to like, hey, uh let me
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: how let you for a second and he comes. I
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: was like, hey, man, like we need to go up
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: and see coach right now. So we go up. We
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: do the whole thing. I still give him the respect
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: or whatever. That weekend, I decide, you know, hey, man,
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: I'm gonna I'm go hang out this weekend. I can't
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: make this up. I get to the bar, I go
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: to the bar, I order a drink. I look up
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: and he's at the corner of the bar and I
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: was like, nah, I cancel that drink. I was like,
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: I'm good. I need to keep him in view. I
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: don't know if he thinks it's me, yeah, you know
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: what I mean? Shit, And I ended up being there
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: for like twenty minutes.
- 1:05:35Speaker 6: I was like, no, I gotta go, gotta get out
- 1:05:37Speaker 6: of here.
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: And I just remember me and him locking eyes and
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: I was like.
- 1:05:42Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I feel like I would be harder too,
- 1:05:47Speaker 6: because like rookies, you'll cut him or whatever. They'll probably
- 1:05:49Speaker 6: be more emotional because it is their first time kind
- 1:05:51Speaker 6: of being told no. And not only that, but everyone
- 1:05:53Speaker 6: ever rookie, like everybody wants to be the best. And
- 1:05:56Speaker 6: you have the weight of whatever pressure expectation you have
- 1:05:59Speaker 6: on yourself because you've identified as a as a stud player.
- 1:06:02Speaker 6: It's like, now you got to tell your family. With
- 1:06:03Speaker 6: everybody at homeworner thing, man, I feel like a loser,
- 1:06:05Speaker 6: Like there's a lot of that weight. I feel like
- 1:06:07Speaker 6: with vets you'll have the longer conversations because sometimes it's
- 1:06:11Speaker 6: probably not easy because there could be games going on, right,
- 1:06:15Speaker 6: like Okay, I hadn't been playing, or man, I've been
- 1:06:17Speaker 6: getting more rips to him, or the reason that this
- 1:06:19Speaker 6: didn't work out is because did you ever talk to
- 1:06:21Speaker 6: the coach or this film? That film?
- 1:06:23Speaker 10: I feel like there's a lot of kind of a
- 1:06:26Speaker 10: lot more conversation that goes into it, you know, And
- 1:06:30Speaker 10: like I said, it's just never easy with a VET,
- 1:06:32Speaker 10: especially a guy that's just been with that organization, right,
- 1:06:35Speaker 10: you know what I mean.
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: I think it's a little bit easier conversation for you know,
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: the quote unquote journeyman that's bounced around. But for a
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: guy that's been with a club three four or five
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: six years and then you got to deliver this message,
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: it's like whoa, Like this is all I know this
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: is And most times you have to explain to him
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: how the process goes because they've never gone through it,
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: you know what I mean. And so it's like I said,
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: it's a lot further conversation.
- 1:06:57Speaker 4: That was such a hard Like I thought I would
- 1:06:59Speaker 4: have to sign something because I we're sitting there and
- 1:07:01Speaker 4: being like we're after sign Like, no, we just have
- 1:07:03Speaker 4: to tell you we're releasing you.
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: Yeah, tell your release, you walk you through the process.
- 1:07:07Speaker 4: And you know, because that was my only time.
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: But yeah, yeah, so you did that to me.
- 1:07:13Speaker 4: Man, that's crazy.
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: Man, I needed to.
- 1:07:19Speaker 4: First one who you want to first? Go seventy seven? Yeah,
- 1:07:21Speaker 4: that's the guy, get his money. Here's so we're going
- 1:07:24Speaker 4: to freedom fairly quickly. Yeah, we're go get that guy.
- 1:07:30Speaker 4: That was wild because I thought there has to be
- 1:07:31Speaker 4: like some sort of like signing.
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: Yeah, it's not it's not too formal, you know, if
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: you will is you know for you, you know, you
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: were still rehabing. So it was one of those things
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: like for a person that's you know, fully healthy, Hey,
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: I'm signing out fully healthy, and then for a player
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: that's rehabbing, it becomes an extended process because now you
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: got to go get images and all these different things.
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: It becomes a much longer process. So that's really the
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: difference in yours and whoever else we did around it.
- 1:08:02Speaker 4: We water up this episode to bring you sport clips.
- 1:08:05Speaker 4: Your hair may gro fast, but after going to sport Clips,
- 1:08:07Speaker 4: you're gonna wish it grew even faster. That's because sport
- 1:08:10Speaker 4: Clips is the best seat in men's men's in hair,
- 1:08:14Speaker 4: and that may or may not be because they have
- 1:08:16Speaker 4: to be right in front of TVs playing sports all
- 1:08:18Speaker 4: day every day. We know, watching sports while getting your
- 1:08:20Speaker 4: haircut sure beats the reflection while getting a haircut, which
- 1:08:23Speaker 4: is why sport Clips every day is clippers and curveballs,
- 1:08:26Speaker 4: high tops and hail Mary's and even waves in wickets.
- 1:08:29Speaker 4: If you're to that type of thing, at sport clips,

- 1:08:36Speaker 4: come watch an endless stream of sports on TV while
- 1:08:39Speaker 4: getting an awesome haircut. Sport Clips, it's a game changer.
- 1:08:43Speaker 4: Let's get back to this episode, but subscribe on subscriber
- 1:08:45Speaker 4: to subscribe.
- 1:08:46Speaker 6: Man, what got you into going from player to wanting
- 1:08:49Speaker 6: to get in to the other side of getting into
- 1:08:50Speaker 6: the floor above the front off you.
- 1:08:52Speaker 4: Think about a guy out gets cut five times in
- 1:08:55Speaker 4: three years, I feel that's something you want to stay away.
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: From more than five times three years. Oh yeah, I
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: played for five teams in three years. I got cut
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: out there exponentially more.
- 1:09:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: No, it was something that I always knew I wanted
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: to do. I've always been like a big fan of
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: the draft, and before I even knew that that's this
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: was an industry draft, weekend would come. I would go
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: buy the magazines, I get a legal pad, and I
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: would sit in front of TV in my room and
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: try to, you know, based off of me reading these
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: magazines and watching college football, try to predict who was
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: gonna take who. And then you know, my dad played
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: eight years in the league, coach for nineteen and he
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: always wanted to be on the personnel side, but when
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: he was done playing, parcels forced him into coaching, and
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: so my dad all the teams my dad was with
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: when I was in college, when he came down for
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: pro days, whether it was him or someone from the staff,
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: he would say, Hey, you're gonna get up, You're gonna
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: meet them, watch film with them at six in the morning,
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: whatever it was. You're gonna chart their numbers, you know.
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: And so when I was in college, you know, I'm
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: running the stopwatch, you know, and I like went on
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: to Pro day whenever whether it was my dad, I
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: remember one time Tony Sperano got rest his soul, you know,
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: he came down. I remember one year it was Terry Rubisky,
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: you know, when he came down. And so I'm holding
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: I'm running clocks, you know for these guys and being
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: amongst the scouts as they're talking about the different times
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: and everything and charting all this, and then you know,
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: they would ask me questions about my teammates, like hey,
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: what do you think about this guy? Like is he
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: a good teammate? And you know, how do you think?
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: What do you think about him on the field? And
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: so that started it. And then, like I said, when
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: years of service outweighed, when teams outweigh years of service,
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: it was time to transition. I tried to coach. I
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: coached high school ball down in Miami at North Miami
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: Senior High and seven knew probably the first two weeks
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: that that wasn't a route for me. Didn't have a
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: patience for yeah, it didn't have a pay for it.
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: And I quickly knew. I was like, Okay, let me try.
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: So then I started taking workouts with teams because I
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: was like, how else am I going to meet the gym?
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: Like I don't have GM's phone numbers, so I knew
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: I didn't want to play anymore, but teams were still
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: called like, hey, we want to try you out, you know,
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: and so I would go in and do a tryout
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: just to be able to meet the GM and so yeah,
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: and so when they were still and so, they would say, oh,
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: you know, sorry, you know, not going to sign you,
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: and I'm like, cool, yeah, can I get your car
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: because I want to do what you do one day?
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: And that's how I meant less need. I went and
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: did a rookie mini camp tryout with the Falcons. Didn't
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: get a single rep the whole mini camp, which was perfect,
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: and yeah, I was yeah. I was just like now
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: I'm good. And so I remember we were walking out
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: of the front of the building and Less was, you know, hey, hey,
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: thank you, thank you for coming, you know, and I
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: was shook his hand. I was like, hey, man, like
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: let me get your card, you know, let me get
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: your card. I was like, I want to do what
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: you do one day, and He's like, I don't have
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: any on me, but just reach out. And so when
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: I was trying to get back in, I remember that
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: conversation and my agent that I had at the time,
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: Kevin Connor, he had two players on the Falcons team.
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: So I was like, hey, man, like call the teams
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: that you have relationships with and let them know I'm
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: sending cover letters, resumes like all this stuff. And he
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: he called me. He was like, hey, man, I talked
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: to Less. He said, they doesn't have anything, but he
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: wants to bring in an interview and talk with you
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: and interview with it with Les and Thomas de Mitrof
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: and Lino Vital and Dave Calwell, all who I had.
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: With the exception of Thomas, I had different connections with them,
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: unknowingly right, And so about two weeks later, man, let's
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: call me and offer me a job. That's how I
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: got it.
- 1:12:57Speaker 6: Yeah, Yo, that's fascinating. Yeah, it's like obviously somebody like
- 1:13:02Speaker 6: that growing up magazines everything else, Like you've loved football
- 1:13:06Speaker 6: for the longest time. And usually, like the guys, once
- 1:13:09Speaker 6: you start playing and you understand the business like getting
- 1:13:11Speaker 6: cut a few times, Like once you understand the teeth
- 1:13:14Speaker 6: of it and how cutthrower can be, it kind of
- 1:13:16Speaker 6: jade you a little bit. As a player. You maintain
- 1:13:19Speaker 6: you're throughout this whole thing. You're maintaining that that love
- 1:13:22Speaker 6: for still wanting to be in the business.
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean for me, I've been blessed to have
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: great mentors and one of my primary mentors back home
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: in Key West, Bill Spots. Would you know his You
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: know him and his family. They do real estate development
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: amongst other things, and they owned a couple of hotels.
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: And I remember him telling me a story when he
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: was younger, you know, he told his father like, hey,
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: one day, I want to own my own hotel. And
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: his family owned a couple of hotels, and so his
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: father then put him in the business and he worked
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: every level of the hotel from a bellman to run
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: an elevator, to then being behind the counter, and worked
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: his way up until he became owner, you know, of
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: one of the family hotels. And so that's kind of
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: how I see my journey. You know, I've been on
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: the field, I've been a scout, I've been a director,
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: and now I've been a GM So I've worked my
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: way through an organization, you know what I mean. So
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: I've seen it from every level, and it puts me
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: in a position to be able to identify with everybody
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: in the building. Yeah.
- 1:14:21Speaker 4: Man, that's when you're when you finally get that call
- 1:14:23Speaker 4: and say, hey, you want this job, you take it?
- 1:14:26Speaker 6: Did you have any idea job.
- 1:14:28Speaker 4: Not the GM job, just like the starting out getting
- 1:14:30Speaker 4: into with us everybody. Did you have any idea of
- 1:14:34Speaker 4: like how much of the bitch work and all that
- 1:14:37Speaker 4: that stuff you would have to do?
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: Oh?
- 1:14:38Speaker 4: Yeah, he waser a pointer like is this really what
- 1:14:41Speaker 4: I'm trying to do? Is is this worth it?
- 1:14:43Speaker 9: Uh?
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: No? So the pay pay and listen, I knew I
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: wasn't coming in making forty million dollars, Like, I knew
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: that that's not what the what the job is. And
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: you honestly don't get in the personnel to make money.
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: You know, you get in because you love it and
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: you're passionate about it. But I remember getting the job,
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: and I knew that I was going to have to
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: do a lot of the grunt work. And I wanted
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: to because there was a stigma attached to former players
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: that we don't want to do the menial task, and
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: so I wanted to be able to be the guy
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: that's like, oh Na, like you need me, run to
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: the airport that's an hour away. Cool, I'll you know,
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: run to the airport. That's an hour away and sit
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: in Atlanta traffic, you know, for two hours to get there,
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: just to more so knock down that stigma, to be
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: able to let other former players have a shot, you know,
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: at getting in. But it's like when they when the
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: pay is is what it was, I tell you guys
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: off air, and it's like you're rubbing Nichols together every
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: two weeks like ooh, you know. It's like, man, it's
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: I'm like, I could have been doing a bunch of
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: other things making more money than this. But again, like
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: I said, you don't. You don't get in to make money.
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: You get in for the love of it.
- 1:15:48Speaker 6: I mean, that's a testament to your drive about wanting
- 1:15:50Speaker 6: to do something and being in the seat you're in.
- 1:15:52Speaker 6: What is the relationship with Less need the most important
- 1:15:55Speaker 6: relationship you feel like you've made throughout your journey of
- 1:15:57Speaker 6: climbing to where you are now.
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: No, it's definitely my foundation one. Like I said, everywhere
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: I've been I've been able to foster relationships like my
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: relationship with Less. When he got the GM job at
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: the Rams, he hired me and gave me my first
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: director job. You know. From there, I was able to
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: you know, work with you know, Jeff Fisher, our new
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: de coordinator, Denard Wilson. We worked together at the Rams
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: and the Frank Bushes and the Greg Williams and guys
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: like that. And then transitioned to Sean McVay and his
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: staff coming in and all those guys that we were around,
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: you know, Sean was there, you know, Mattie LeFleur was there,
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: Guys like Aubrey Pleasant, you know, all these guys were around.
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: And then go to San fran and then, I mean shit,
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: in what twenty nineteen our draft room featured I guess
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: now five gms and four head coaches where and we
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: were all in the same draft room in twenty nineteen.
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: And then you develop relationships with guys like Paragua Maraate,
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: you know, who's run the business side for San Francisco
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: for twenty plus years. He was originally hired by Bill Walsh.
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: And then have a guy like that take you under
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: his wing and start showing you the contract side, and
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: you know, working with guys like Koasi Adolpho Mensas showing
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: you how to incorporate analytics in football. Like it's a
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: bunch of different people who've poured into me from a
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: football that's just football. But then you meet people outside
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: of football that poured into you from a business perspective,
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: because we have to remember football is football, right, That's
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: what we've done our whole lives. That's what we came
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: up doing. But at the time, Jerry Richardson was the
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: only owner that had played in the NFL, and so
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: a lot of the owners are come from the business background.
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: So being able to have you know, certain mentors to
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: teach you the business side allows you to speak that
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: language you know, and you know, be on the same
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: page with the owner from a business perspective. So it's
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: been a ton of people that have poured into me
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: to help me get here.
- 1:17:58Speaker 6: That's cool, man.
- 1:17:58Speaker 4: That is while and it seems like you're very aware
- 1:18:02Speaker 4: of all the people that have helped you and gotten
- 1:18:04Speaker 4: to the point you're at now, which is so awesome.
- 1:18:06Speaker 4: When it comes to the war room on the first
- 1:18:08Speaker 4: draft night, talk to me about the intensity that goes.
- 1:18:11Speaker 6: Down in there.
- 1:18:11Speaker 4: How like this this draft, we know the Titans want
- 1:18:15Speaker 4: to take a tackle or pull up Bengles and our
- 1:18:19Speaker 4: quarterback got hurt. We're still going to go get a
- 1:18:20Speaker 4: wide receiver type of situation when you guys are sitting
- 1:18:23Speaker 4: there and Callahan, who was on, he said, you guys
- 1:18:26Speaker 4: were happy with Jacon Latham or Joe Walt, Like as
- 1:18:30Speaker 4: it starts ticking and Joe Walt goes out at five,
- 1:18:32Speaker 4: like where is like what's the energy like in that room?
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: So it's a ton of work that goes into it beforehand.
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: And I will say, and we were talking about this
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: at the office last week, I will say, of every
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: draft room I've been in, this was probably the most
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: accurate board that I've ever been a part of. From
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: because we rank them vertically, then we rank them horizontally
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: right by position, This was probably the most accurate board.
- 1:19:00Speaker 4: Now when you say vertically and horizontally, are you talking
- 1:19:02Speaker 4: about best players vertically?
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: Yes, So we have the positions going horizontally right, just
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: straight across split offense, defense. And so if we got
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: quarterbacks here, you know, we rank them vertically, you know,
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: from one to whatever, and you do that for every position,
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: and then you go across horizontally like, okay, is this
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: quarterback better than this receiver? And then you start adjusting
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: the cards as you go. So it's kind of like
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: this as it goes across you know, the board, and
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: so we pretty much knew just based on our research,
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: we knew exactly where the first four picks were going
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: to be. And for us, the draft started at five
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: at the Chargers. And then you get to the spot
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: where you're like, okay, we have three guys you know
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: over these next three picks that we're good with any
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: one of these three. We don't have to make any
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: sudden moves to jump up. You know that it's going
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: to cost us in the future, and so it was
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: it was a way game. We done enough research to
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: know that the Chargers were going tackle, and so you
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: sit there and you're like, okay, which one, and then
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: you start playing the Well, you know, they got Rashaun
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: Slater at left tackle, so I could see JC going
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: because he's played right tackle, you know what I mean.
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: But then you're like, well, you know, the Chargers were
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: at the pro day at Joe Waltz Pro day, and
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: you start hearing like they really like him, and so
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: you're like, yeah, I could see that too. So you
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: start trying to you know, you do that part, but
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: then you got to take it a step further because
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: the Giants are right below you and you're like, well,
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: the Giants have you know, drafted pretty well on the
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: old line and they got some guys and but it's like,
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: all right, well, what if they go what if one
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: of the tackles say whoever they take, whether JC or Joe.
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: But what if the Giants decide We're going to take tackle.
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: I'm like, okay, then that pushes one of the other
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: guys to us, and we got to be comfortable with that.
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: So we work all those scenarios. So when we got
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: there and we're just sitting there and it's like you're
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: you're at the behest of the chargers. So now you
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: start hitting your contacts like, hey, what are you hearing?
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: What do you know? You're hitting your contacts that are
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: in the green room, like, hey, what does it look
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: like over at this table? In this table? And then
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: you know, we so we usually find out a little
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: bit before you know, the it's announced, and so it's like,
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: you know, chargers pick us in and then it shows
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: on our screen and it says Joe out, and so
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: we're like okay, and that before yeah.
- 1:21:37Speaker 4: So as soon as they put put the car before
- 1:21:39Speaker 4: Goodell walks up.
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, we know because because the next team is
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: immediately on the clock, and so we're like, okay, and
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: now we wait, you know, to see what the Giants do.
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: And when once we saw that Joe went to the Chargers,
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: we were pretty certain that they were going to take that.
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: The Giants were going to take Neighbors, and so it
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: was like like, all right, you know, say Sagi, you know,
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: get me j C's number. And you know, Sagi's been
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: here h I think this was his nineteenth draft with
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: the team, and he's like, hey, do we want to
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: jinx it? And I was like, listen, if we got
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: to rip it up, we rip it up. And then
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: we called the next person, you know what I mean.
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: I was like, but just have it ready, and so
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: he got me the got me the number, and we waited,
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: and when they took Neighbors, I was like, all right,
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: we got the big fellow.
- 1:22:26Speaker 6: When you know you're going to take JC and the
- 1:22:30Speaker 6: teams behind you don't have a needed tackle is there?
- 1:22:33Speaker 6: Like are you trying to act till you figure out? Like, hey,
- 1:22:36Speaker 6: y'all want to come up?
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: No, it was some teams like that called and they
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: were like, hey, like we're interested in coming up? Was no,
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: because for me. It was like, we're not going to
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: pass on a dude that we think like super highly of,
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: like just to gain like move back a couple of spots.
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: And yeah, it was it was we feel the calls
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: probably the first five minutes we were on the clock,
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: just to see, you know, if anything was gonna blow
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: us away, and didn't, didn't come close, and so we
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: picked up the phone and called a big fella and
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: was damn happy to get him.
- 1:23:13Speaker 6: What's been the craziest draft room moment?
- 1:23:15Speaker 4: You've been a part of Everyone here watching right now
- 1:23:19Speaker 4: sinking about the movie Draft Day, Yeah, tradings.
- 1:23:21Speaker 6: Move and maybe the place talk about one of where
- 1:23:24Speaker 6: the players not playing anymore where you could talk about it.
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: No, no, I'll tell you. Last year, we get on
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: the clock in the third round and Raves and I
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: are sitting there and we're discussing, like hey man, I'm like,
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: let's go running back you know right here, and you're
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: looking on the board and you know, we were like, hey,
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: let's let's go with the Tulane kid, you know, Taj.
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: So then a team calls and they're like, hey, we're
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: interested in coming to the to your pick, and they
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: made an offer and so we had like, I have
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: these screens in front of me that has like the
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: trade calculator, and so you know, I started looking at what.
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: I was like, no, that's not gonna get it.
- 1:23:58Speaker 6: Is your trade calculator, like like it's just green green.
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: Yeah, so it's it's I don't know because I don't
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: I don't play I don't play Mad. To click it in, yeah,
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: I'm like, I don't play Madden like that, but it's
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: like similar. So there's like there's a bunch of different
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: ones that you can use trade charts, but mostly everybody
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: used the Jimmy Johnson trade chart, so just clicking through it.
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: I told him that offer didn't work, and then I
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: was like, but hey, if you give us this this
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: and the next year's this, then yeah we could do it.
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: And then the guy, the guy who I was speaking to,
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: he was like, no, we you know, we'd be out.
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: I was like, all right, cool, we're gonna make the pick.
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: So I tell sag I'm like, hey, can you give
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: me tay J. Spears number. I think by this time
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: it's probably let's just say three minutes on the clock,
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: and I'm literally downing the number. Hit the last number
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: that team calls back and they're keep calling. They want
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: to do the deal, the one that you proposed and
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: one that I proposed. They said no, And then they
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: came back right as we're calling to accept the deal,
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: you know, and I'm like, it's too late, so pick
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: up the phone answers. He's like hello, and all I
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: say is and he goes crazy, like screaming. Everybody in
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: the family everybody's cheering, and I'm like, yo, like I
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: haven't said anything yet, and he's like, let's go.
- 1:25:33Speaker 6: Let's go.
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: So I'm like, hey, man, like hold on, like you know,
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: let's let's talk. And he's going he's.
- 1:25:39Speaker 4: Going crazy thinking about taking the deal.
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: No, no, I'm not going.
- 1:25:43Speaker 4: You're about to be like hold on.
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: But then click phone hangs up, and so I'm like,
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: call back. So I called back. My bad, My bad,
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: my bad. Hey, y'all got to shut up, and so
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: I'll get back. I'm like, hey, man, you know, call
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: him like, hey, we're gonna take you with this pic.
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: And everybody's still going crazy. By this time, it's like
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: I see it now. It's one forty eight on the clock,
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: before we run out of time. Click phone hangs up again.
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: And at this point I look at Vin Marino, I'm like,
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: just turn it in. Like we've tried him and his
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: family to see it, come up on it, Like, just
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: turn it in. So we called back again and he's like, man,
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I was like, well,
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: hold on, I said, I'm gonna let you talk to
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: coach Rabes, and of course, you guys know Rabes. Rabes
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: gets on the phone. He's like, hey, listen, man, if
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: this is the start of your NFL career, you're not
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: getting off on the good foot, you know what I mean. Yeah,
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: And they talked for a little bit and then I mean,
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: obviously Taja is great, you know, it's just super good.
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: Dude works his behind off. But that was like a crazy.
- 1:26:57Speaker 6: Are you thinking? Like as you're down the number and
- 1:26:58Speaker 6: then the team wants to accept whatever the trade is
- 1:27:01Speaker 6: as a party is like I've already dialed the number.
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: I can now And that's always my thought process. It's
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: like once I make up my mind to pick, like
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: I'm it's it's over, you know, like I'm I'm moving on,
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: Like I'm not entertaining that, And I mean for us,
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: you know, obviously you document everything. You got a camera
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: right in your face as you're doing this, so you
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: got to maintain maximum composure, you know. And it's uh
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: but again, like once once we make our mind up
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: to pick, we're picking.
- 1:27:29Speaker 4: So what we talk about the camera? Man, I think
- 1:27:31Speaker 4: about that aj brownshade, Yeah, ver Able standing up walking
- 1:27:36Speaker 4: kind of doing one of these things right here. That
- 1:27:39Speaker 4: was It's one of those not composure moments.
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, and and again it's it's you know,
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: because you have, you know, you have a responsibility to
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: your fan base to try to give them as much
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: as possible and show them everything that you're doing. But
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: when it's when it's that now I'm what I'm feeling
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: on the inside versus what's being shown could be totally different. Yeah,
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Like, and everybody has their
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: little things that they do. You know, I have a
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: baseball that I'm usually like have with me, whether I'm
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: you know, squeezing the hell out of the baseball, you know,
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: underneath the table or whatever the case may be. I remember,
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: you know, Less would have his little shards of paper
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: that he's just kind of ripping up. I know, Jeff
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: Fisher had a lucky coin. You know that he had
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: with him, you know, on draft night. So everybody has
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: their little their little deals to just you know, help
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: them keep composure.
- 1:28:28Speaker 6: You mentioned earlier like this is the most accurate board
- 1:28:31Speaker 6: you've ever ever been a part of. What do you
- 1:28:33Speaker 6: mean by that?
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: From just from the way that we had them ranked
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: to how they came off the board. You know, so
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: some teams, everybody does it different. Some teams stack the
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: board just for them in how they see it and
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: who fits them, you know. So there may be some
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: good players that are not on your board because it
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: doesn't fit your scheme, and you have some teams that
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: stack it based on Okay, this is how we think
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: they're gonna you know, come off the board, and for us,
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: we stack it for us. You know, we don't care
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: what everybody else think. We stacked the board for us.
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: And as we're sitting there and we're watching, I mean,
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: it was I mean, I think everybody felt Caleb Williams
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: was going number one, so you knew that how that
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: was gonna go. But then as we started going positionally
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: you're looking and they were just coming off, you know,
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: the exact way we predicted it to, which which is
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: ultimately what led us, you know, in the second round
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: at thirty eight, you know, to take big sweat, you
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: know there, and what I like to do, you know,
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: particularly with miss Amy and Kenneth, is you know, leading
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: up to the draft, like, hey, come on in, let
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: us show you the board and here and we're gonna
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: we're gonna talk through every position and this is where
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: we think. This is how it's gonna go. And we
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: got to the second round. We met earlier that morning
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: and it was like, Hey, this is what I think.
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: This is how the second round is gonna unfold. Once
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: this team here is gonna pick this, and then once
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: they picked this, it's gonna be a run at this position,
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: and then it's gonna be a run here, and then
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: it'll be this, and then once this person goes there's
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: gonna be another run. And it just went exactly.
- 1:30:09Speaker 6: I didn't know if you meant every whoever's a part
- 1:30:11Speaker 6: of the entire draft process. You guys all kind of
- 1:30:14Speaker 6: accurately saw it the same versus you're like, all the
- 1:30:17Speaker 6: times you've been in the with all the different teams
- 1:30:19Speaker 6: in all different.
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: Years, I'll tell you what is different pages. There's I'm
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: pretty sure there's been other times in my career, but
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: the one that comes to mind for me the first
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: time I've ever seen, I say, the first time I've
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: ever seen all the scouts and all the coaches have
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: the exact same grade and thought on a player was
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: Rob Havenstein when he came out of Wisconsin and I
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: was at the RAMS and we took him in the
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: second round. He had consistently the same grade by every
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: single person in our organization. That that was the first
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: time I've ever seen it. I don't I can't remember
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: seeing it recently and again. And sometimes it's I mean,
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: most of our grades are color you know, they're color
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: based with the number and decimal system in between. And
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: sometimes you have like everybody thinks, this guy is a
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: red starter, this guy's gonna be a good starter for
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: a long time. Red is good?
- 1:31:11Speaker 4: Is it the best color? No?
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: Blue? Blue chip? Yeah? Blue is blue is the you know,
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: And a lot of times, yeah, a lot of times
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: we talk in colors, right, hey man, this guy is
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: a red player, he's a blue player, and so we
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: talking colors. And so sometimes even within the red, the
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: red grade, it's like a couple of couple of decimals,
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: So it's different levels of red. But then to have
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: for every single body, every single person to have the
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: same exact number grade in color grade on on a
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: guy was It was like a cool thing to see.
- 1:31:41Speaker 4: You know how you can figure out exactly what the
- 1:31:44Speaker 4: draft is going to happen. You just hire as the mentalist.
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: You know what. I didn't see the clip, but I
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: see all his I'm a big YouTube short guy because
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: I don't have social media, and so I see all
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: his stuff and I just think it'll be so dope
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: to hope he's watching. Uh to have him come in
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: during camp?
- 1:32:03Speaker 4: Yes, yeah, who else he's Yeah, he's he showed you
- 1:32:09Speaker 4: see he predicted the first thirteen picks.
- 1:32:11Speaker 6: No, bro, No, I didn't see that.
- 1:32:13Speaker 4: Oh he like did? I think it was the Raiders
- 1:32:15Speaker 4: And he was like Raiders brought bours at thirteen and
- 1:32:18Speaker 4: then he had a small little sheet next to us
- 1:32:20Speaker 4: are unraveling. It was like trade here this pic, this pick,
- 1:32:24Speaker 4: this pick, every single pick, the first thirteen picks.
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: Someone has that he's going to have to be our consultant.
- 1:32:28Speaker 4: Yeah he comes in, Lets WoT year, That's what I'm saying.
- 1:32:33Speaker 4: They're going to pick this guy. But he has to
- 1:32:35Speaker 4: do it an elaboratory single time.
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: Can you imagine how funny it would be just to
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: show him in our draft room standing over Cali and
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: I shoulder, like the camera, Yeah, bro, this this is
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: our secret weapons.
- 1:32:52Speaker 4: Finally it's like, this is your pick. It's like he
- 1:32:54Speaker 4: was right, Yeah, it was our pick.
- 1:32:55Speaker 6: Dude. What was your thought on the Atlanta Falcons taking
- 1:32:58Speaker 6: Pinnix GM chair. You kind of see too the video
- 1:33:02Speaker 6: of the owner talking to Terry the GM and people
- 1:33:05Speaker 6: are kind of like saying whatever, like, oh wonder what
- 1:33:07Speaker 6: this conversation?
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: That's I kid you not like we had a we
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: had an inkling that that was going to happen, that
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: they were going to take him. You got to understand
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: our assistant GM, Anthony Robinson, he just came from Atlanta,
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: so he spent his whole career in Atlanta. I started
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: my career in Atlanta, you know, with him, So you
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: kind of get a feel for how things are done organizationally,
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: regardless of who's running it. But we we probably about
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: two weeks prior we were we were sitting around, we
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: were talking about all them. We called it team Needs
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: and we're kind of going through it, and we were
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: like quarterback, and it was like, so you start playing with it,
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: and then it kind of became clear. It was like, man,
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: like they really could go pandis right here. And so
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: when it happened, I wish you could see, like our room,
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: we kind of like a couple of us kind of
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: looked at each other like so it wasn't a real
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: surprise to us.
- 1:34:05Speaker 6: Yeah, how do you Obviously there are so many variables,
- 1:34:08Speaker 6: but as a GM, like how do you see that
- 1:34:10Speaker 6: pick for like Atlanta? I mean it's a wild question.
- 1:34:14Speaker 6: How do you feel that?
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: No, under I mean I understand. Yeah, I understand, because
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: you you always have to have a plan for the future,
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: and that's at every position, right. I mean I can
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: remember because you study other people's drafts, right, you study
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: how people do it, you know, organizationally, teams that like
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: like Seattle with John Schneider, they've done a good job
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: of always staying you know ahead. Mickey Loomis in New
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: Orleans is usually the first one that comes to mind
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: for me, especially when they were rolling. They had Drew
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: and Sean Payton was there. They always drafted a year
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: ahead of a need, so you had a young guy there.
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: You think back when they had Jeremy Shockey, they draft
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: Jimmy Graham in the third. You know, all the those
- 1:35:00Speaker 1: times they had, you know, guys up front. I remember
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: when they took Andre's Pete played them at guard early,
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: then he became the tackle. Like they they always drafted
- 1:35:09Speaker 1: year ahead of need. They did it at corner, they
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: did it at receiver, they did it at running back,
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: where you might look heavy at that position. But then
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: the next year they move on from a guy or
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: guys a free agent, they don't pay them, and then
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: they got the next guy already he's already been in
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: the system for a year, and now you just step
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: into your row.
- 1:35:26Speaker 6: I was just gonna say, it feels like to be
- 1:35:30Speaker 6: in that spot of being able to draft the head.
- 1:35:32Speaker 6: You have to do so well in the drafts, you know,
- 1:35:34Speaker 6: leading up to it, like you hit on guys, you
- 1:35:36Speaker 6: have a good room, because if not, you have a
- 1:35:37Speaker 6: glaring hole that it's like, well, we can't really afford
- 1:35:39Speaker 6: the draft to head.
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: Yeah. No, they tell you all the time, like when
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: you're coming up in this business and you're learning, like
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: the draft is where it happens, is where you really
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: build your team, and you know you you cut your
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: teeth and you you make your way building through the drafts,
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: you know, because it gives you, you know, such leeway,
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: like we don't we're not able to make the free
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: agent moves we made if we have to pay our
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: quarterback fifty million, you know, right, So we got a good,
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: you know, promising young quarterback who's on a rookie deal.
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: What gives us more room to kind of build around him? Now?
- 1:36:13Speaker 1: Prayer forly. You know he's gonna flip soon, and you
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: know he plays extremely well and you know his his
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: contract you know, shows that. And so now it's back
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: to us building through the draft because we're going to
- 1:36:27Speaker 1: have to surround him with young talented players because you
- 1:36:30Speaker 1: can't go out and pay you know, everybody, you know,
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: especially with the with the with the cost of doing
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: business now, you know, you can't afford to pay everybody.
- 1:36:38Speaker 4: Yeah, when you're going through the draft and stuff like that,
- 1:36:41Speaker 4: I feel like a lot of owners want to be
- 1:36:43Speaker 4: more part of it or less a part of it
- 1:36:45Speaker 4: and kind of give their opinion more oftentimes than not.
- 1:36:47Speaker 4: How is miss Amy when it comes to the draft,
- 1:36:49Speaker 4: How does she handle it?
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: She's the best because miss Amy is miss Amy. She trusts.
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: When she hires you to do a job, she trusts
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: you to do the job. And so she doesn't come
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: in and say, hey, no, let's make this guy number one,
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: or I like this guy more. She just wants to
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: know the why. And so that's why we do a
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: good job. I think of over communicating with her. And
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: we bring her in a couple of days before the
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: draft and we show her the entire board. Here's why,
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: you know, we like this guy, here's where we think
- 1:37:22Speaker 1: this guy can fit. And it's just a group of
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: us in the room. We close the door, we lock it,
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: and we're in there for a couple of hours and
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: we explain the whole board to her and again, and
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: when once she sees it and she sees how it's unfolding,
- 1:37:36Speaker 1: and it's unfolding the way you said it would, and
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: now she has a little bit more trust in you,
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: you know, and so she just she trusts us to
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: do our job, which is the best.
- 1:37:45Speaker 4: Have you seen it the other way where owners come
- 1:37:47Speaker 4: in and they're a little more won their finger on
- 1:37:50Speaker 4: the pulseter want to make the decision.
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: Well not because I've been with what four clubs, I've
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: never seen it to where the owners lie like, hey,
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: we should take this guy. But I've seen, you know,
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: I've seen it where the owner not only wants to
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: know the why, but he's like are we sure? Or
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: if a player goes like, hey, why didn't we take
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: this guy? You know, I've seen that you know that
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: question before, But I've never been in a place where
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: the owners like, you know, hey, I watched tape last
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: night and I like this kid.
- 1:38:25Speaker 6: Do they come do?
- 1:38:25Speaker 4: A lot of the owners come in kind of well
- 1:38:27Speaker 4: versed in what's going on in that first round?
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: Yeah and yeah, And I think I think I'm not
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: going to make it seem like we're the only ones
- 1:38:34Speaker 1: that communicate with our owner, because I think all gms
- 1:38:37Speaker 1: communicate with their owner and what they like. But I
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: think everybody informs their owners of hey, here the here
- 1:38:44Speaker 1: the pot of guys that we like at this pick,
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: and so they're aware. I won't give our secrets of
- 1:38:49Speaker 1: what we do, but I miss Amy's well informed. You know,
- 1:38:53Speaker 1: every guy heading into to the draft.
- 1:38:56Speaker 6: How do you feel like your role as GM has
- 1:38:59Speaker 6: developed from year one to year two, because you've obviously
- 1:39:02Speaker 6: had a different you had very last year. You have
- 1:39:04Speaker 6: Callahan this year, talk about those relationships, talk about how
- 1:39:07Speaker 6: your rules developed. As a GM.
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: I think my role has developed. It's just developed more
- 1:39:14Speaker 1: because I'm more comfortable. I have another, you know, a
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: year doing it last year. Last year, I couldn't imagine
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: doing it without Rapes, you know, because he was He's
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: a vet, you know, one of the smartest you know,
- 1:39:29Speaker 1: football minds I've ever been around. And just having him
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: there to bounce things off of, you know, because I don't.
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: I don't give them what position you're in. You've never
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: done it till you've done it. You know, you can
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: read every book there is. You know, I can go
- 1:39:45Speaker 1: and read every book there is on how to play basketball,
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: but I've never played basketball till I've been out there
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: on that court. And and so that's how it was
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: for me in a GM spot. But I had a
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: guy in Mike that I can go and say, hey, man,
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: like how does this part work? You know, I'm not
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: sure you know about this? And so this year I'm
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: more comfortable because there are more things that have come up,
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: like okay, like I know how to handle that and
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: you know, go through that phase of it. But that's
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: the that's really it. Like the more time on task,
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: the more comfortable you're gonna.
- 1:40:14Speaker 4: Be with Mike and his departure from the Titans, it
- 1:40:19Speaker 4: seemed a little bit abrupt because I think as a
- 1:40:22Speaker 4: as a fan base, Jackie McPherson with the Titans hat
- 1:40:24Speaker 4: in the back, he's been a longtime Titans fan. A
- 1:40:27Speaker 4: lot of people were saying like, oh, okay, we obviously
- 1:40:30Speaker 4: have issues because we're not wanting a whole lot of
- 1:40:31Speaker 4: games and Mike's not the problem. And then shortly after
- 1:40:34Speaker 4: the season end, Mike, Mike is gone. How was that
- 1:40:36Speaker 4: transition for y'all? How how are those discussions?
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: For what you can say, I'd say it was it was.
- 1:40:41Speaker 1: It was tough. That day was really tough. I speak personally.
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: It was one of those you know, and this is
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: just being full transparent, you know. When it happened, I
- 1:40:55Speaker 1: called my wife and I was like, hey, like this
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: this just happened. And the first thing my wife says is,
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: you know, you need to call Rea, which is my daughter.
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: And I'm like why She was like, because she doesn't
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: need to hear that coach got fired from one of
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: the kids in school, you know, because my kids don't
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: have social media, and so my daughter had a really
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: close relationship with Mike. And if you look on her
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: screensaver on her phone right now, it's a picture of
- 1:41:23Speaker 1: her and Mike, you know, and that hasn't changed. And so,
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: you know, not only to have that happen to him,
- 1:41:32Speaker 1: but to now I got to communicate this to my daughter,
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: you know, and then to have my he's now seven
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: year old son who he thinks he's the GM and
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: the owner and the head coach. He legitimately when he
- 1:41:47Speaker 1: got out of school, my wife told him and he
- 1:41:50Speaker 1: was like, like, what are you doing? Like my son
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: said this to me, you know what I mean. And
- 1:41:55Speaker 1: so it was tough, you know, it was tough. And
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: then to you know, go out out and you know,
- 1:42:01Speaker 1: you again, I'm not on social media, but you can
- 1:42:03Speaker 1: feel heat, you know what I mean? You can you
- 1:42:06Speaker 1: can feel heat. And I knew what it was, but
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: I also knew that it was, you know, unfortunate that
- 1:42:12Speaker 1: it happened. And I and and again listen, Mike will
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: be coaching at no time. You know, he'll be back
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: on the sideline in no time. And he's going to
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: do well wherever he goes, because that's just in his
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: DNA and who he is. But you know, I knew
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: after that happened, it was no time to sit back
- 1:42:30Speaker 1: and soak and you know, lick your wounds. It was like,
- 1:42:34Speaker 1: we have to deliver the next guy, you know, and
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: how and it was a man that happened on a Tuesday.
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: And literally you work through Tuesday night putting the list together.
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: And mind you, I've never interviewed a head coach before,
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: you know what I mean. So then now yeah, and
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: so now it's like you spend you spend Tuesday identifying
- 1:42:57Speaker 1: a list, right, and that's a lot of convers stations
- 1:43:00Speaker 1: with a lot of people. You do that until Wednesday,
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: and then you get the request out to the clubs
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: because it's that time of year everybody's trying to interview.
- 1:43:09Speaker 1: And then you spend all day Wednesday, all night Wednesday,
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: all through Thursday putting the structure in the interview together,
- 1:43:18Speaker 1: also scheduling interviews, and then boom, Friday, you have your
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: first interview, you know what I mean. And so oddly enough,
- 1:43:27Speaker 1: CALLI was our first interview, and so you try to
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: for me personally, I was like, you know, we need
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: to be ahead of the curve, you know, when it
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: comes to it we need to be ahead of the
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: whole hiring cycle because there were so many jobs open,
- 1:43:43Speaker 1: and we were like, you don't want to get behind
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: in this phase. And so we were you know, we
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: were very detailed and you know, we took a really
- 1:43:54Speaker 1: good approach to it. You know. However, it was like
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: it was pretty clear, you know, once we with Cali
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: that he was the guy.
- 1:44:02Speaker 6: I got a two part question as you were experiencing
- 1:44:05Speaker 6: the interview process for the first time, what do you
- 1:44:07Speaker 6: feel like ended up being the most important question in
- 1:44:10Speaker 6: the interview? And then the second question is what jumped
- 1:44:13Speaker 6: out about Cali? That was like, we can't really let
- 1:44:16Speaker 6: him hypothetically leave the building.
- 1:44:18Speaker 1: Yeah, so I think the biggest thing for me, And
- 1:44:21Speaker 1: again I've been around Rabes, I've been around Kyle Shanahan,
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: I've been around Jeff Fisher, been around Sean McVay. These
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: guys are excellent at situational football, you know, just overall
- 1:44:34Speaker 1: just situations of the game. And so it was talking
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: about concepts like that, you know, in the interview, but
- 1:44:42Speaker 1: then you follow it up with who's your coaching staff?
- 1:44:46Speaker 1: Who's your coaching staff going to be? And again, anybody
- 1:44:48Speaker 1: can come in and say, you know, I'm gonna hire
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: Vince Lombardi be my head coach, Bill Belichick's gonna be
- 1:44:53Speaker 1: the decordinator, and Bill Walsh is gonna be my offensive coordinator.
- 1:44:57Speaker 1: You know, but who can you really deliver? And the
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: one thing that stood out with CALLI was he had
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: a depth chart of coaches. And I'm not saying when
- 1:45:07Speaker 1: I say a depth chart, I don't and he literally
- 1:45:09Speaker 1: had a three deep. But it wasn't just like, all right,
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: I want this guy, and if I can't get this guy,
- 1:45:14Speaker 1: then this guy's the backup, and if I can't get him,
- 1:45:16Speaker 1: do this. No, he had these are three tier one,
- 1:45:22Speaker 1: here's three tier two, here's three tier three. And he
- 1:45:26Speaker 1: had that for every single position. And so you knew
- 1:45:29Speaker 1: looking at that, like this guy's put a lot of
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: thought process into this, you know, and he's well thought out.
- 1:45:35Speaker 1: He's well researched. And I can say, because I was
- 1:45:37Speaker 1: looking at it the other day, like we legitimately got
- 1:45:41Speaker 1: number one on every one of his positions.
- 1:45:45Speaker 4: Damn he had his old man.
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: He did not. He did not have his old man
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: on the list. He was And I talked in the interview,
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: I was like, hey, man, elephant in the room. What's
- 1:45:54Speaker 1: up with pops? Are we trying to heat And he
- 1:45:58Speaker 1: was like, hey, man, honestly, we haven't had the conversation.
- 1:46:01Speaker 1: He said, we talked about it briefly last year and
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: just ultimately decided that it wasn't the best thing. And
- 1:46:08Speaker 1: he was like, we haven't had the conversation. Man.
- 1:46:11Speaker 4: That's perfectly aligned with what he said, because he had
- 1:46:13Speaker 4: said the same thing, like when the opportunity might have
- 1:46:16Speaker 4: come up last year, his dad was essentially like no.
- 1:46:18Speaker 4: And then after when he gets this job, his dad
- 1:46:21Speaker 4: calls me. I was all, think about it without even
- 1:46:22Speaker 4: any context.
- 1:46:23Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, about it.
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: I'll be honest with you. I've because I I called Bill,
- 1:46:27Speaker 1: I called him big coach. I've asked big coach. You know.
- 1:46:31Speaker 1: I was like, there was it ever a thing, because
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: I know from my dad my dad always wanted to
- 1:46:35Speaker 1: coach me, and my dad ended up being my position
- 1:46:38Speaker 1: coach in Dallas and that lasted two weeks, you know,
- 1:46:41Speaker 1: and it was like this is not gonna work. Is
- 1:46:44Speaker 1: and it didn't work. But you know, he was like,
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: he said, Bill told me. He said. It wasn't until
- 1:46:52Speaker 1: I watched this press conference that I really started thinking
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: about it really yeah, he said, it wasn't until he
- 1:46:58Speaker 1: watched the press.
- 1:46:59Speaker 4: His press call was a little bit emotional talking about
- 1:47:01Speaker 4: his wife and everything, and it was really cool to see.
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: Yeah, And like I said this, and you know, when
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: you guys come around like this coaching staff is it's
- 1:47:09Speaker 1: it's something man like the defensive staff they are they're
- 1:47:14Speaker 1: their own people, and our offensive staff and just you know,
- 1:47:18Speaker 1: just to be through the building and the energy and
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: the juice you know that's in the building, and it's
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: just it's just been cool. And again, you I know
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: some of these guys because I've worked with them, and
- 1:47:28Speaker 1: a lot of guys I don't know. But I mean
- 1:47:31Speaker 1: we're a couple of months in and it feels like
- 1:47:33Speaker 1: I've known these dudes forever.
- 1:47:34Speaker 6: Yeah, you feel like that was that was one that's
- 1:47:37Speaker 6: been one of the bigger differences, the juice and energy
- 1:47:39Speaker 6: with the staff and in the building.
- 1:47:41Speaker 1: Well, I say this, I say the I know when
- 1:47:43Speaker 1: CALLI was putting his staff together, and the cool you
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: know thing that he afforded me was he was like, hey, man,
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: like I don't want to just hire people, right, just
- 1:47:53Speaker 1: hire my buddies. He was like, I want you to
- 1:47:55Speaker 1: feel good about the coaches that I want. He was like,
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: so let's interview them. And he was like, I want
- 1:48:00Speaker 1: you in the interview to ask as many questions, you know.
- 1:48:04Speaker 1: And so everybody that we brought in, like I was
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: a part of interviewing them and getting to know them.
- 1:48:09Speaker 1: And so you feel that. But the one thing that
- 1:48:12Speaker 1: CALLI talks about a lot is connectiveness. And he was like,
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: in our staff, we have to be the example of
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: that for our locker room, you know what I mean.
- 1:48:21Speaker 1: And so it's those guys are always together, never not together,
- 1:48:26Speaker 1: you know. And like I said, it's just a cool
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: group of dudes, and it's competitive as competitive as hell.
- 1:48:32Speaker 1: We even have like a four thirty workout group with
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: our strength coach, and it's like anywhere from ten to
- 1:48:39Speaker 1: twelve of us at four thirty. And listen, when I'm
- 1:48:42Speaker 1: out there, it looks pitiful, you know, like running hundreds
- 1:48:46Speaker 1: and you know, all these things. But it's another way
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: for us to connect, you know, and build together. And
- 1:48:52Speaker 1: I think the players see it, you know, and feel like,
- 1:48:54Speaker 1: hey man, these dudes are really together and they're not
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: just talking.
- 1:48:57Speaker 4: Yeah, it's sick to see that. You guys are gonna
- 1:48:59Speaker 4: line because it seems like that's always like a main
- 1:49:02Speaker 4: thing of the downfall of a program, whether it's college
- 1:49:05Speaker 4: or NFL, like the ad and the head coach don't
- 1:49:07Speaker 4: get along, that falls apart, and then inevitably both of
- 1:49:09Speaker 4: them are on and with you and Kelly, it just
- 1:49:11Speaker 4: seems like just hearing you guys both talk. So because
- 1:49:14Speaker 4: we've shot these episodes within what two days. Hearing you
- 1:49:17Speaker 4: guys both talk, you seem so aligned on the vision
- 1:49:19Speaker 4: and what you guys want to do. But it took
- 1:49:22Speaker 4: a lot to get there. You look at the end
- 1:49:23Speaker 4: of this past season and you're looking at a pretty
- 1:49:27Speaker 4: destroyed roster. The King leaves, you know, you're missing a
- 1:49:30Speaker 4: lot of pieces, and it's essentially like an everest to
- 1:49:34Speaker 4: build up. And now we're sitting in the middle of May,
- 1:49:36Speaker 4: and you guys are the Titans are in the best
- 1:49:38Speaker 4: position in the world because you look at the power
- 1:49:40Speaker 4: rankings of the NFL and everyone thinks you guys are shit.
- 1:49:43Speaker 4: But if I were to read you a list of
- 1:49:46Speaker 4: your roster and you'd say, is this team gonna be
- 1:49:48Speaker 4: good or bad? Just talent alone, It's like these boys
- 1:49:51Speaker 4: can come. They got something cooking over there. So truly
- 1:49:54Speaker 4: the best position you can possibly be in in May
- 1:49:56Speaker 4: before the coming up football season. Like, what when you
- 1:49:58Speaker 4: were looking at this big project going into twenty twenty four,
- 1:50:01Speaker 4: where was the starting point for y'all?
- 1:50:03Speaker 1: I mean, honestly, the starting point it didn't start when
- 1:50:07Speaker 1: Cali got here, you know what I mean, because the
- 1:50:10Speaker 1: free agency work, the free agency part, it was, the
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: front end of the work was done in December, you know,
- 1:50:18Speaker 1: with the staff that we have, and so when Cali
- 1:50:22Speaker 1: came obviously scheme changes, so some players are shifted in
- 1:50:27Speaker 1: move like okay, this guy fits better, you know now,
- 1:50:30Speaker 1: And so that's the that's the adjustment. The cool thing
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: that him and his staff did when they came in.
- 1:50:36Speaker 1: They we all met all our scouts and we're lucky
- 1:50:39Speaker 1: because all of our college scouts lived here in town,
- 1:50:43Speaker 1: and so we had our whole staff and the whole
- 1:50:45Speaker 1: coaching staff. And then they showed us. They put highlight
- 1:50:48Speaker 1: tapes together positional profiles. Hey, look, I want my left
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: tackle to look like this. This height, this weight, this
- 1:50:55Speaker 1: arm length, this speed. Here are the traits that we're
- 1:50:58Speaker 1: looking for with the examples right, and so now you know,
- 1:51:02Speaker 1: we get to see it. We get to see the visual. Okay, well,
- 1:51:06Speaker 1: now we know what they're looking for in each one
- 1:51:07Speaker 1: of these positions on the team, and it makes it
- 1:51:09Speaker 1: easier for us to go hunt and go find it.
- 1:51:13Speaker 1: So that makes our job easier. But just even looking
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: at it, it's like, you know, obviously to you know, uh,
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: lose a player like Derek, Like that was the number
- 1:51:23Speaker 1: one question I got the most when I was around town, Like, hey,
- 1:51:26Speaker 1: better than I let Derek leave? Or what's going on
- 1:51:29Speaker 1: with Derek? Like I understand the magnitude of that because
- 1:51:32Speaker 1: in my mind, you know, prior to coming here, when
- 1:51:35Speaker 1: you thought about the Tennessee Titans, you thought about Mike Rabel,
- 1:51:38Speaker 1: you thought about Dereck Henry, you know, and Taylor la One,
- 1:51:41Speaker 1: you know, and so cornerstone you know what I mean,
- 1:51:45Speaker 1: Cornerstone people chargers, and so you know that's these guys
- 1:51:53Speaker 1: are are are identifying factors for this football team and
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: the way the football team played, and so you want
- 1:52:01Speaker 1: to keep some of that. But then it's like, all right,
- 1:52:04Speaker 1: how are we going to build this in Cali's image?
- 1:52:07Speaker 1: And what is it gonna take for his scheme? And
- 1:52:09Speaker 1: so you have to make the tough decisions, you know
- 1:52:12Speaker 1: what I mean, and you have to be aligned, you know,
- 1:52:14Speaker 1: in those decisions, and so we start piecing it together.
- 1:52:18Speaker 1: And then again you and you hear me talk about
- 1:52:21Speaker 1: it a lot is relationships, you know. I mean, if
- 1:52:24Speaker 1: you look at our free agency class, there are relationships
- 1:52:27Speaker 1: all along the way. You get a Calvin Ridley because
- 1:52:32Speaker 1: you have a relationship, you know, or I'm not even
- 1:52:35Speaker 1: gonna say we had a relationship. We created one, you know,
- 1:52:39Speaker 1: out of thin air. And being able to just be
- 1:52:41Speaker 1: relatable is what got him here. You know, cheat oh
- 1:52:45Speaker 1: Bay he was with Cali for how many years in Cincinnati,
- 1:52:49Speaker 1: so he kind of knows what the program is going
- 1:52:51Speaker 1: to be. You know. Tony Pollard's from Memphis, you know,
- 1:52:55Speaker 1: wanted the opportunity to raise his kids, you know, at home,
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: you know where he grew up. Gives you a leg up,
- 1:53:02Speaker 1: you know, all these things, you know, coming to play,
- 1:53:04Speaker 1: and like I said, this city in this state is
- 1:53:07Speaker 1: it's like you said, it's slept On. You know, it's
- 1:53:11Speaker 1: slept On. I've never been anywhere in the in the
- 1:53:14Speaker 1: National Football League where all your scouts lived in the
- 1:53:16Speaker 1: town like that is an that's a one competitive advantage.
- 1:53:21Speaker 1: And then think about just historically you weren't drafted here,
- 1:53:25Speaker 1: But where do you live now?
- 1:53:26Speaker 6: In Nashville.
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: Every player that comes here, whether they were drafted here,
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: signed a long term deal or a one year deal,
- 1:53:32Speaker 1: they come here and they stay. Yeah, and so it's weird.
- 1:53:35Speaker 6: You see a lot of the tight ends too, and
- 1:53:36Speaker 6: the off season kid on them.
- 1:53:37Speaker 1: Like everybody comes here. So it's a competitive advantage and
- 1:53:41Speaker 1: we just put ourselves in position to take advantage of that,
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: you know what I mean. And like you said when
- 1:53:45Speaker 1: we were walking up to the bus, like it's like
- 1:53:48Speaker 1: an unwritten thing with this city, you know. And we'll
- 1:53:51Speaker 1: say higher profile people like those people feel comfortable here.
- 1:53:56Speaker 1: The people in the city show you love, but they
- 1:53:58Speaker 1: respect your space. And so everybody here you feel a
- 1:54:01Speaker 1: part of the community. I'm leaving my daughter's flag football
- 1:54:06Speaker 1: game a couple of weeks ago, and I looked at
- 1:54:08Speaker 1: my wife and I was like, of all the places
- 1:54:11Speaker 1: we've ever lived, like, I feel a part of the
- 1:54:13Speaker 1: community here when I'm at her games. My standing with
- 1:54:17Speaker 1: the team, none of that matters. I'm just one of
- 1:54:19Speaker 1: the crazy dads in the stands giving the refs. Hell,
- 1:54:23Speaker 1: you know what I mean. And I don't have to
- 1:54:25Speaker 1: wear Titans GM hat. I'm just Rhya's dad, you know,
- 1:54:30Speaker 1: at the game, and I'm cheering, like my daughter's team
- 1:54:32Speaker 1: they won, They won a championship for the third year
- 1:54:36Speaker 1: in a row for a girl's flag, and I'm standing
- 1:54:39Speaker 1: on the top of the stands screaming three peat and
- 1:54:42Speaker 1: got the crowd going. And you know what I mean,
- 1:54:44Speaker 1: Like my daughter hurt her back in one of the
- 1:54:47Speaker 1: tournament games. I'm down there stretching her out, you know
- 1:54:50Speaker 1: what i mean. Like, I'm just being a dad, and
- 1:54:53Speaker 1: I think this city is what allows that to happen.
- 1:54:55Speaker 1: Like I don't have to always feel on if you will,
- 1:54:59Speaker 1: I could just be one of the people. And that
- 1:55:01Speaker 1: is a true competitive vantish about being here when.
- 1:55:04Speaker 4: You look at you, Bob, Calvin Ridley, and I think
- 1:55:06Speaker 4: when I think that Calvin Ridley obviously is an awesome
- 1:55:09Speaker 4: talent and wrongly accused for gambling as well, but that's
- 1:55:12Speaker 4: a different story. He goes from the Jags to hear
- 1:55:14Speaker 4: and during this press conference he's like, honestly, I want
- 1:55:16Speaker 4: to stay with the Jaguars as you see that as
- 1:55:19Speaker 4: a pro or a con when hearing that statement, because
- 1:55:21Speaker 4: to me, it's like, now, you know two times a year.
- 1:55:23Speaker 4: He's got those, he's got those games circled because they
- 1:55:26Speaker 4: you get in your delusional football mind that we've all
- 1:55:28Speaker 4: had use that as oh, they didn't want me, when
- 1:55:31Speaker 4: maybe the number was just a little too big.
- 1:55:33Speaker 1: No, I'll be I'll be perfectly honest with you. Everything
- 1:55:37Speaker 1: was comparable, you know. And he had the he had
- 1:55:40Speaker 1: the option to go back, whether the numbers. I'm good,
- 1:55:43Speaker 1: appreciate the offer though Southern hospitality. He had the option
- 1:55:49Speaker 1: to go wherever he wanted to go. But I think
- 1:55:52Speaker 1: it's more of a positive in that we made him comfortable,
- 1:55:57Speaker 1: you know, coming here, and then the lesson of the
- 1:56:01Speaker 1: deal was again here Nashville, Tennessee. His wife's family from Huntsville.
- 1:56:07Speaker 1: I got to know that right down the road, you know,
- 1:56:10Speaker 1: makes it an easy transition for her to still be
- 1:56:13Speaker 1: Now you're closer to your family, you know. And so
- 1:56:16Speaker 1: it again competitive advantage being here in Nashville.

- 1:57:03Speaker 6: I think you'll have fun with it. But your tear
- 1:57:06Speaker 6: talk of your the best like scouted players you've seen
- 1:57:13Speaker 6: in your years, in.
- 1:57:14Speaker 1: My years, Uh, I'm gonna say that I was of
- 1:57:19Speaker 1: the teams that I played for. And I know I'm
- 1:57:23Speaker 1: gonna get hell for this because I have a lot
- 1:57:25Speaker 1: of good relationships with all these dudes.
- 1:57:27Speaker 4: Started three.
- 1:57:29Speaker 6: If there's one that you're like, damn, he doesn't make it,
- 1:57:31Speaker 6: but shout him out, that's an honorables all right.
- 1:57:37Speaker 1: I'll say this, and it's it's the I'll give you
- 1:57:39Speaker 1: the little synopsis behind it. I'll say damn, all right.
- 1:57:47Speaker 1: Three Todd Gurley coming off of torn a c L.
- 1:57:52Speaker 1: I thought he was still the best player in that
- 1:57:55Speaker 1: draft class and just was what it was, and he
- 1:57:59Speaker 1: had that show run in the league. But man, he
- 1:58:02Speaker 1: was explosive and dynamic. And the problem Number two Nick
- 1:58:08Speaker 1: Bosa outside of my number one, I don't think I've
- 1:58:14Speaker 1: ever seen anybody play with the type of hand use,
- 1:58:16Speaker 1: you know, in leverage he has. Nick has this unique thing.
- 1:58:20Speaker 1: And you know Taylor as a tackle to be able
- 1:58:22Speaker 1: to catch the elbow and catch the wrists at like
- 1:58:24Speaker 1: a super high rate, like it's his hand eye is unreal.
- 1:58:29Speaker 6: Uh.
- 1:58:29Speaker 1: Number one, Aaron Donald, I think that was easy, man, child,
- 1:58:38Speaker 1: goat if you will. Uh. What I was going to
- 1:58:41Speaker 1: add in before I thought about one was Fred Warner honorable? Mentioned?
- 1:58:48Speaker 1: What makes Fred to me is Fred never played in
- 1:58:52Speaker 1: the box in college. He was like a big nickel
- 1:58:56Speaker 1: where he aligned over the slot. And you know, shout
- 1:58:59Speaker 1: out to Robert Salah and Demico Ryans. They had a
- 1:59:03Speaker 1: vision for being able to put him in in the box.
- 1:59:08Speaker 1: Third round pick, rookie starting at mike, making all the
- 1:59:11Speaker 1: calls and all the checks. And obviously Fred is Fred
- 1:59:15Speaker 1: is Fred, you know. And when the schedule came out
- 1:59:18Speaker 1: the other day, my son, my oldest, shout out to
- 1:59:23Speaker 1: my boys Roman and Reese. Roman says, So when we
- 1:59:29Speaker 1: played the Niners in the preseason, Can I wear my
- 1:59:32Speaker 1: Fred Warner jersey? And I'm like, I was like, I said,
- 1:59:37Speaker 1: I said, you call Fred because he's my son. Is
- 1:59:41Speaker 1: boys with Fred, like they talk all the time. I say,
- 1:59:45Speaker 1: you call Fred, and then Fred get you tickets and
- 1:59:49Speaker 1: you sit with Fred's family, then yes you could wear
- 1:59:52Speaker 1: your Fred So by all means, but those would be
- 1:59:58Speaker 1: my four shout out to d I think he created
- 2:00:01Speaker 1: a position in football, and I think he he helped
- 2:00:05Speaker 1: usher in a new way of what we call positionless football.
- 2:00:09Speaker 1: You know that I've been a part of. Damn. I
- 2:00:14Speaker 1: left Big trend Out.
- 2:00:16Speaker 4: I was thinking I was going to bring that up.
- 2:00:18Speaker 1: I left Big trend Out.
- 2:00:21Speaker 4: Arguably the best player in the league a couple of years.
- 2:00:23Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I mean he's yeah, he's you see him
- 2:00:27Speaker 1: do stuff and you're.
- 2:00:28Speaker 4: Like, yeah, like that against the Cardinals.
- 2:00:31Speaker 1: I was thinking that I didn't want to, you know, yeah,
- 2:00:36Speaker 1: And I'm glad it wasn't. It wasn't Isaiah Simmons. I
- 2:00:41Speaker 1: won't say I wasn't. No, I know who it was,
- 2:00:43Speaker 1: and I don't want to say his name. We'll say
- 2:00:47Speaker 1: it right, No.
- 2:00:50Speaker 4: Pull it up, pull it up. Well, just were not
- 2:00:52Speaker 4: talking about it, but just pull up Williams because that
- 2:00:57Speaker 4: not only is that an extreme explosion and I'm amazing
- 2:01:00Speaker 4: content contact, it's also one of those deals where to
- 2:01:03Speaker 4: take the risks to run full speed at a linebacker
- 2:01:06Speaker 4: and hope you hit them. But he's a crazy that's
- 2:01:09Speaker 4: a crazy look at him, just man?
- 2:01:15Speaker 1: Was that like, you don't expect a human of that
- 2:01:18Speaker 1: size to get on you that.
- 2:01:20Speaker 4: We're in a four eight.
- 2:01:21Speaker 6: Forty not bad body ball, but he is truly mentor
- 2:01:27Speaker 6: You know this.
- 2:01:28Speaker 4: Do you do this cat personally?
- 2:01:29Speaker 5: No?
- 2:01:29Speaker 1: I don't know him personally.
- 2:01:30Speaker 4: Yeah, you've been doing it. You've been doing an amazing
- 2:01:32Speaker 4: job of not saying names. Yeah, like that's your you're
- 2:01:35Speaker 4: pros pro in that way.
- 2:01:36Speaker 6: Do what's the most fascinating thing or something that you
- 2:01:41Speaker 6: experienced in the front office world that you think players
- 2:01:45Speaker 6: would be intrigued to know.
- 2:01:50Speaker 1: Most intrigued and fascinating.
- 2:01:52Speaker 6: Whether it has to do with contracts.
- 2:01:54Speaker 1: So I just think learning the business and the one
- 2:01:57Speaker 1: thing we hear and I'm sure you guys will say, hey, man,
- 2:02:00Speaker 1: it's the business. I hate that term because I think
- 2:02:05Speaker 1: saying it's a business, for lack of a better way
- 2:02:08Speaker 1: to say it, I feel it's a cop out because
- 2:02:10Speaker 1: it doesn't allow you to deal with the emotion of
- 2:02:12Speaker 1: what you're feeling. And I think you're allowed to feel
- 2:02:16Speaker 1: a certain type of way. But when you say, oh, man,
- 2:02:18Speaker 1: you know it's it's it's a business, then that gives
- 2:02:21Speaker 1: you that cop out of like okay, like it's supposed
- 2:02:25Speaker 1: to happen. But I think if if more guys were
- 2:02:29Speaker 1: in my position to have exposure to how the business works,
- 2:02:32Speaker 1: and they would understand like, oh okay, I see it
- 2:02:35Speaker 1: clearing now, like myself, Like, and I'm sure you felt
- 2:02:38Speaker 1: the same way as fellow undrafted guys. You first round
- 2:02:40Speaker 1: guys don't have nothing.
- 2:02:43Speaker 6: He's got the red blue cardsdrafted cards. Hours, yeah, just
- 2:02:49Speaker 6: white like.
- 2:02:51Speaker 1: That was me.
- 2:02:53Speaker 6: Will come.
- 2:02:53Speaker 4: Do you remember evaluating Will Compton?
- 2:02:57Speaker 1: I wrote you, I will find the report, and I
- 2:02:59Speaker 1: was I would text it to right, but I will
- 2:03:02Speaker 1: tell you this. When I was doing my draft process,
- 2:03:06Speaker 1: like again, I'm realistic, I know what it was, I
- 2:03:08Speaker 1: was like, I'm at least a third rounder, right, you
- 2:03:11Speaker 1: know what I mean, I'm at least a third rounder.
- 2:03:14Speaker 1: And then I remember, no, you can't make this up.
- 2:03:16Speaker 1: I got a call in the fifth round from a team,
- 2:03:19Speaker 1: says we're taking you with our next pick. And I'm
- 2:03:23Speaker 1: in the room and I'm with my now wife, and
- 2:03:28Speaker 1: my mom and my brother were in the living room,
- 2:03:32Speaker 1: and so I was like, okay, cool, like I'm excited.
- 2:03:34Speaker 1: And my wife had just got accepted into grad school
- 2:03:38Speaker 1: in that same city, and so I was like, this
- 2:03:40Speaker 1: is perfect. And I got up to go tell my
- 2:03:45Speaker 1: mom and I was like, you know, I'm gonna let
- 2:03:47Speaker 1: me see it on TV. Yeah, And I sit there
- 2:03:51Speaker 1: and they announced the pick and it wasn't me, and
- 2:03:54Speaker 1: I look at her and then the team called right
- 2:03:57Speaker 1: back last minute we decided to Oh and long story short,
- 2:04:04Speaker 1: I don't think that player made it through the season
- 2:04:07Speaker 1: with him because I ended up playing with him somewhere
- 2:04:09Speaker 1: else and so like and hen I end up becoming
- 2:04:12Speaker 1: really good friends. But a man I had smoked for him.
- 2:04:17Speaker 4: Bro fifth round too, walking through, walking down.
- 2:04:21Speaker 1: But again I thought I was going to be, you know,
- 2:04:24Speaker 1: wanted to be a first rounder.
- 2:04:26Speaker 6: Right, but at least and you played too, like, you know, hey,
- 2:04:31Speaker 6: we could be one of those like Bill Belichick just
- 2:04:33Speaker 6: randomly draft somebody in the higher rounds and just come
- 2:04:35Speaker 6: out of nowhere.
- 2:04:37Speaker 1: And listen, I had I had I knew what the
- 2:04:39Speaker 1: signing bonus was going to be, and I'm like, okay,
- 2:04:41Speaker 1: this is how we gonna allocate the money and yeah,
- 2:04:43Speaker 1: we're gonna you know, planning it out.
- 2:04:46Speaker 6: And now, dude, you play with your You played four
- 2:04:49Speaker 6: your dad for two weeks in Dallas off the heat
- 2:04:51Speaker 6: and he cut you.
- 2:04:52Speaker 1: No. Luckily enough, I had got cut by Indy. This
- 2:04:58Speaker 1: was my rookie year. I would Dallas on the practice squad.
- 2:05:01Speaker 1: My dad was my running back coach. Our running back
- 2:05:04Speaker 1: room was Eddie George Julius Jones was their second round
- 2:05:07Speaker 1: pick that year. We had Richie Anderson. Yeah that was awful.
- 2:05:14Speaker 1: That was like my worst football experience. Me and my
- 2:05:17Speaker 1: dad got into a fight. Now it wasn't at like
- 2:05:21Speaker 1: we had a We went back and forth on the
- 2:05:24Speaker 1: field to the point where Parcels was like, all right,
- 2:05:26Speaker 1: that's enough, and so I can tell this story. It's funny.
- 2:05:30Speaker 1: But my dad shout out to Frank Paranho because he
- 2:05:33Speaker 1: loves his story.
- 2:05:34Speaker 8: Uh.
- 2:05:36Speaker 1: My dad was chirping across the field with chirping back
- 2:05:38Speaker 1: and forth, and so Richie is like, hey, little bro,
- 2:05:41Speaker 1: like come on, man, like you know Dad loves you.
- 2:05:44Speaker 1: So I say some choice words about that, and then
- 2:05:47Speaker 1: my dad yells across, Hey, Richie slapping. So I yelled back,
- 2:05:52Speaker 1: I'm like, no, you slap me. Yeah, So whatever, I
- 2:05:57Speaker 1: go home and now I'm like, I'm gonna know the
- 2:06:00Speaker 1: whole playbook. Like he's never gonna be able to say
- 2:06:02Speaker 1: nothing to me. I'm gonna know it better than him.
- 2:06:05Speaker 1: Mind you, I'm living with him, right I'm on the couch.
- 2:06:09Speaker 1: I'm on the couch and I'm highlighting and taking notes
- 2:06:11Speaker 1: and I'm tearing this playbook up. And so I doze
- 2:06:15Speaker 1: off and I'm sleep and I hear the door open.
- 2:06:19Speaker 1: But my cousin lived there too, so I was like,
- 2:06:22Speaker 1: it's just Chris. Then now I'm like oh, and I
- 2:06:27Speaker 1: look up and my dad standing over me, and he's like,
- 2:06:31Speaker 1: I slapped you, now what? And so I started laughing
- 2:06:36Speaker 1: and I'm like, he's like, what you laughing for? You?
- 2:06:38Speaker 1: You said slap you? I slapped you. You didn't do nothing,
- 2:06:40Speaker 1: Now what I was like, I won? He was like,
- 2:06:43Speaker 1: how did you win? I was like, because it's been
- 2:06:45Speaker 1: on your mind ever since I said it. And I'm
- 2:06:48Speaker 1: like I was like, and you know what, I was like,
- 2:06:51Speaker 1: now you better take your ass back to the office
- 2:06:53Speaker 1: before Parcelles finds out you not there. I was like,
- 2:06:55Speaker 1: and I will call him right now and tell him
- 2:06:58Speaker 1: to you better get your ass back to the He
- 2:07:00Speaker 1: was and then literally like that was like, uh, that
- 2:07:08Speaker 1: was like a Thursday. That happened Wednesday or Thursday. And
- 2:07:11Speaker 1: then the following week the coach called to bring me
- 2:07:15Speaker 1: back on the roster, and so my they sent my
- 2:07:18Speaker 1: dad home to like talk me into stand and my
- 2:07:21Speaker 1: dad was like, son, you gotta go. He was like,
- 2:07:24Speaker 1: because not only is this gonna give your opportunity to
- 2:07:26Speaker 1: actually play, he was like, but for the sake of
- 2:07:29Speaker 1: our relationship, you gotta get the hell out of here.
- 2:07:32Speaker 6: Yeah, that's awesome.
- 2:07:35Speaker 4: If it wasn't jac or Joel, who would it be.
- 2:07:39Speaker 1: We'll talk off.
- 2:07:44Speaker 6: Before we let him go, because he's got a roll. Uh,
- 2:07:46Speaker 6: you have a twisted question for him. He's GM's not
- 2:07:53Speaker 6: the head man. That's a that's a that's a question
- 2:07:56Speaker 6: specifically for the head coaches they cut their piece off
- 2:07:58Speaker 6: for a Super Bowl? Would you.
- 2:08:02Speaker 1: I got five kids?
- 2:08:04Speaker 6: So you would?
- 2:08:05Speaker 1: I said, I got five kids. So I just said
- 2:08:09Speaker 1: I have five kids.
- 2:08:11Speaker 6: All right, we just need you to say yes.
- 2:08:14Speaker 1: I said, I just got we got that insurance.
- 2:08:16Speaker 4: I got five five kids is a lot of kids.
- 2:08:19Speaker 1: A lot.
- 2:08:19Speaker 6: But this twisted question is brought to us by Twisted Tea,
- 2:08:21Speaker 6: the most refreshing hard iced tea out there, made with
- 2:08:24Speaker 6: five percent alcohol, real brew tea full of flavor, very refreshing,

- 2:08:42Speaker 6: Grab one today Mitch hit Ryan with the twisted question.
- 2:08:46Speaker 6: For the love of God, let's hope we have something on.
- 2:08:49Speaker 1: Your face because myself.
- 2:08:53Speaker 8: Yeah, this one comes from Sammy, who we just had
- 2:08:56Speaker 8: on the bus. Uh, would you all rather you fly?
- 2:09:00Speaker 8: You always have to sit in the middle seat or
- 2:09:02Speaker 8: you're always stuck behind that slow car whenever you're driving.
- 2:09:06Speaker 8: So you either whenever you fly, you're always on the
- 2:09:10Speaker 8: middle seat, or you're always stuck behind the slowest car.
- 2:09:13Speaker 6: We're sorry, Yeah, we.
- 2:09:15Speaker 1: Know, no, I was middle seat. Give me the middle seat,
- 2:09:18Speaker 1: and I absolutely despise the middle seat.
- 2:09:20Speaker 6: It's never it's awful, but no, and it's not all
- 2:09:22Speaker 6: the time you're driving like you. We try to tell
- 2:09:25Speaker 6: them to think through these before you ask, what do
- 2:09:30Speaker 6: you do?
- 2:09:31Speaker 8: My answer, you're not flying as much as you're.
- 2:09:34Speaker 4: Driving, right, Yeah, so it's a it's a middle seat
- 2:09:37Speaker 4: on the plane, Javan Peerson. Any questions, Yeah, before we
- 2:09:42Speaker 4: let them go.
- 2:09:43Speaker 2: We asked Cali this question yesterday. But you being with
- 2:09:46Speaker 2: the Titans forever year now you will understand this. Is
- 2:09:49Speaker 2: there a way to bring back the OG pain Trained
- 2:09:52Speaker 2: video that we play at the beginning of the fourth
- 2:09:55Speaker 2: quarters because we changed it two years ago. The fan
- 2:09:58Speaker 2: base needs the OG one back.
- 2:10:00Speaker 1: All right, So I'm not familiar with the O G.
- 2:10:04Speaker 6: Do you remember?
- 2:10:07Speaker 1: Yes?
- 2:10:07Speaker 4: Okay, so it's Terry Tate office linebacker. He goes the
- 2:10:10Speaker 4: pain trains coming and then does the woohoo thing and
- 2:10:12Speaker 4: then Johnny cash fullsome prison blues, right yeah, starts playing.
- 2:10:18Speaker 1: All right, let's do it.
- 2:10:20Speaker 4: This is awesome.
- 2:10:23Speaker 1: I have to do.
- 2:10:47Speaker 4: Can we bring that back?
- 2:10:49Speaker 1: We might be able to do something.
- 2:10:51Speaker 2: And can busting with the Boys be the twelfth Titan
- 2:10:54Speaker 2: and swing the sword of Owner?
- 2:10:58Speaker 1: That would be pretty sweet. I'm not gonna lie there
- 2:11:01Speaker 1: we go. I think you guys, we have the I
- 2:11:03Speaker 1: think the crowd will go nuts to see. Now here's
- 2:11:06Speaker 1: the thing we have with these two. We gotta cut
- 2:11:09Speaker 1: the mic. It's got, it's got, it's gotta be it's
- 2:11:14Speaker 1: got to be a delay so we can at least
- 2:11:16Speaker 1: have the Yeah.
- 2:11:18Speaker 6: Yeah, very fair to say. I will say this. Every
- 2:11:20Speaker 6: college we go to, every like we were at in Atlanta,
- 2:11:23Speaker 6: every spot organization we go to, it's like they're always like, hey,
- 2:11:27Speaker 6: we're down for you guys to do this. We've seen
- 2:11:29Speaker 6: some of your stuff. You could just be on your
- 2:11:31Speaker 6: best behavior. We could. We're capable. We're capable. It will
- 2:11:35Speaker 6: be on our best behavior.
- 2:11:37Speaker 1: Like I said, just they might need they might the.
- 2:11:42Speaker 6: MINSI button.
- 2:11:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I might need to have that button seven second delay.
- 2:11:46Speaker 1: We appreciate you coming on, no, man, I appreciate you boys.
- 2:11:49Speaker 1: Man man, I appreciate you.
- 2:11:50Speaker 4: Tell you this bus and all of us in here
- 2:11:53Speaker 4: are so excited about what the times we're doing. We're
