She Told Him Not to Call the Police
On February 9, 2004, 21-year-old nursing student Maura Murray crashed her Saturn on a dark curve of Route 112 in Haverhill, New Hampshire. A bus driver stopped to help; by his account, she waved him off, saying she had already called AAA, on a road with no cell service. Nineteen minutes after the first 911 call, police found a locked car and no driver. She has never been seen again. Why would she claim to have called AAA on a road with no signal? Where did she go in those nineteen minutes? And why did a full search not begin for 36 hours?
