[rock music] Well, good day. Good day, everyone. Hey.
• 0:16
Think that music covers up the sound of the... Air conditioning is making it so wicked cool in here. Yeah. This way we talk near each other, not over each other.
• 0:25
[laughs] We just fill in the gaps just and, you know, just like n- no pregnant pauses. No pregnant pauses this show. Right. Everybody, one, two, three, no pregnant- No. No. Did I... W- were there some in another show?
• 0:37
No. Oh, okay. I'm just saying if you're worrying about- When you're professionals like us- There, yeah... why would there ever be a pregnant pause? For- To drink beer... to, for effect. Oh, yes. Yeah.
• 0:49
Oh, you guys have beer already? Mm-hmm. 'Cause it's anticip-... ation. This Rocky Horror thing. Yeah. Tim Curry incidentally, h- Rocky Horror. Richard O'Brien. All right.
• 1:02
Richard O'Brien being the, uh, awesome originator of the Broadway show, which was translated to the movie and that which we love. That was a pretty decent movie. He was Riffraff. That was pretty decent.
• 1:11
Yeah, pretty decent. Riffraff is the creator of that, by the by, so the more you know. But he's no longer with us, I believe. Are you sure? No, I don't know. I'm just making stuff up. No, I know.
• 1:21
This is, this is- Well, you have to say it more declaratively [laughs] [laughs] This, this, this show is not about the truth. It's about whatever we want it to be about. If you speak... Yes. Sort of like our- Yeah...
• 1:33
our politicking these days. Pretty much. Don't get me started. Oh, my God. Oh, my God, I went, I went... I was in the ketchup aisle. Okay, now it's [sighs] jalapeno ketchup. Really? What the hell does that even mean?
• 1:49
Sounds like ketchup. I'm doing, I'm doing... Yeah. Yeah. Ketchup. Ricky from Trailer Park Boys. Oh, sorry. Jalapeno. Jalapeno chip- Chip... jalapeno chips. Jalapeno, man. Jalapeno.
• 1:58
Jalapeno chips and pepperoni sticks, man. Well, I haven't watched any Trailer Park Boys for some time now, so- Well, yeah... my command of the show has somewhat changed. I know. I, I'm, uh... That's like season three.
• 2:09
[laughs] Which I would argue that- Season 23... if you get past season six, you're putting a lot of effort into something that's not returning that much anymore. Aw. Did you watch the- Maybe season seven...
• 2:20
did you watch the Luther Kenny special? Not yet. Now, now you say this and whatever, and then, uh, yes.
• 2:27
You graced me with a visit, uh, saying of the mythic quest, trying to play the- This, if you can find it, I would play it because it- I just don't have the apple juice. Yeah, the, well, it- I do have an aggregator- I-...
• 2:38
that I can get it, but- I would think that they should-... it wasn't connected to the big TV that you were there... possibly the, they've, they've started to give away the first- It looks great... season of stuff.
• 2:46
It looks good. It looks l- like a lot of fun. It is, and the Mackle Honey, whatever his name is- Yeah... he's, he's great. Well, yeah, it, it's one of those where I actually saw a little bit of it, and that's cool.
• 2:58
I mean, if you just hear it on the other side, it'll be like, "You gotta watch Archer. You gotta watch Archer. You gotta watch Archer. You gotta watch Archer." And it's like, "Fuck you."
• 3:07
The easiest way for me to slow down watching something is by doing that. For you to... Someone to tell you to watch it? Mm, incessantly. Have you watched Archer yet? Occasionally. Okay, just checking.
• 3:18
Kind of like a- I think I've seen three episodes... kind of like, uh, volunteering for the 24. Yeah. I don't mind the idea of volunteering, but I don't like getting bullied into volunteering.
• 3:29
Well, they are looking- I'm just-... for volunteers, speaking of the- I know. [laughs] I got, I got bullied by Andy. Leading that right into a- Speaking of the bullying- Mm-hmm... [sighs] well, no, my perceived bullying.
• 3:38
But whatever. Not, I mean, I, yeah, I'm using, um, bully- It's- The word bully is doing a little heavy lifting on that one, but- Yeah... hassle. It, being hassled, and I just- Just getting emails...
• 3:48
I'm not, I'm like, "Dude, I don't really like being hassled." And when you hassle me, it makes me- If our listener-... push away... if our listener does wanna volunteer, we highly recommend you. Yeah.
• 3:57
What is the volunteer- In my-... helpline? In my stead. What, what, how do you do that? Uh, it's volunteer@riverwest24.com. Riverwest24. And you can-.com... and you'll be guaranteed into the next year. Yeah.
• 4:10
Which I notice this year you get to wait in line. Yes. But- That's just to get your- But if you-... to put in your- But if you don't- I know... volunteer, maybe you don't have to wait in line. You just wait- Exactly...
• 4:19
for your number to get called. Just wait for your n- number, and you just stand in front of Jeremy and go like, "Call my fucking number." [laughs] Yeah. This way- Okay. Volunteer is fun. I, all right.
• 4:30
I've come to terms with my volunteer shift is on that day where I stand there, and I be the lottery guy. Mm. So that's my volunteer shift. By waiting for your ticket? Yeah, yeah. Yeah. All right. Yeah. Okay. So.
• 4:45
All right. Hey, I can rationalize very well. [laughs] Sure. So notwithstanding that it- I-... was hot as hell at the beginning of the week, it was beautiful on last Saturday- Oh, lord yes...
• 4:57
for a fat tire tour of Milwaukee. Boy- Yeah... could that have been a better day? No, no. We clunked. Yes. We clunked on that ride. I'm, um- And blessedly, the route was in- In Milwaukee, so it wasn't- Well- Yeah...
• 5:12
very hilly. Yeah. Well, it wasn't like, "Hey, let's go check out- The airport... uh, airport and southwest of that." Right, right. Yeah, which- Yeah, that doesn't, that Fat Tire Tour doesn't really- I was, um-...
• 5:24
do that that much. Hmm. It was perfect. I mean, the longest stretch was five miles maybe. Yeah, and it was surprising. Vliet was a nice western burn. Yeah. I don't know if I'd wanna do it solo, but-
• 5:38
With the group With a bunch, yeah... with a couple at least. And it was a bunch. I was- I, I was thinking at least 400. Yeah. It may have been more. Yeah, I would say so. It was a lot of people.
• 5:46
I was a little bummed out that, that the two people that, the guy that had the flat tire, that no one was helping him. Huh. That's why I was last. Which one? Did you stop and help him? The one- Yeah, of course...
• 5:54
come on. And I, I filled up... So the funniest story is I- I filled his tire with enough air to get him... I said, "You know what? We'll find another Bublr station." Oh, did you have your Gizmotron? And yeah, of course.
• 6:05
Ah. So I said, "We'll fill it with enough air- Oh, he was the Bublr guy? Yeah, he was one of the- Well, don't they come out and fix your shit for you because you rented their bikes? Yeah.
• 6:12
I'm pretty sure they have like a Triple A for Bublr bikes. Really? Yeah, you just call them- Yeah... and say, "I've got a flat. Come fix your shit." Yeah, they have one of those...
• 6:18
Yeah, they have one of the cool cargo vans that I want. [laughs] Fine. Yeah, they burn an awful lot of fuel having a service that- Ooh... they move the- Note to self...
• 6:23
they move those bikes around to other stations with that van and stuff- Yeah, I've seen through that... and it's like, well, go burn some gas to move a bike. I don't know. Yeah. Does it really? It is true. All right.
• 6:31
Well, since, uh, uh, since I just cracked a beer and we don't have that many- Top of the hill... on top of the hill and right off the bat here- Wow...
• 6:37
'cause we failed on beer acquisition except what was left over from last week, which was the wonderful Deschutes Squeezie Rider. If you didn't listen to last week's show, I'm sure we talked about it on that show. Mm-hmm.
• 6:48
[coughs] Why does it smell like something skunks dragged in, in here now? Wait, did- Did you guy- He fol- Did you guy- He followed, he followed me here Look at the- Maybe the air conditioner's out... look at the stuff.
• 6:58
Okay. So the Deschutes- Yes... the Squeezie Rider. I saw your, uh, uh- With curtains... it, it looks, it looks cleaner in the opening area. Well, the idea is that the- Or crisper...
• 7:07
so they're blackout curtains, and they also absorb sound. So I'm like, well, this is a good idea, then. Win-win. Yeah.
• 7:13
We can keep, we can keep the sun out so the miniature- As- That's like the smallest air conditioner I've ever seen... as- It's tiny [laughs] It's pretty small... well, tiny, but it's as we're in an 8x8 cube, so.
• 7:23
[laughs] Exactly. So beep boop, R2-D2 on its way. Oh, yeah. R2-D2, the... I've got some ideas for that.
• 7:30
If we ever get back upstairs, upstairs is where that goes, 'cause it's the kinda deal where you have, like, the dryer hose that goes out the window. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 7:36
So you don't have to have it sitting in a window, which is perfect for just about anywhere- Exactly... in this business. So there's something... Yeah. I wonder if that thing can do this whole building. No. No.
• 7:46
[laughs] It could... It'll do this 8x8 room, though. Oh, hell. Oh, yeah, this'll be a total fucking blast cooler come... Oh, yeah. Funny. Oh, yeah. That's a 10,000 BTU one right there. Well- That's what that one is...
• 7:59
yeah. Well, my mom had threatened that she was gonna give it to somebody else and something else for something else, and I'm like, "No." Well, it's not going out of the family.
• 8:07
We're just gonna store it over here and turn it on sometimes. When you need it back, you just come and grab it. [laughs] Well, that's... There's that. I mean, it's got more functionality-ish.
• 8:17
This was kinda just thrown into the ether, you know, going like, "Hey, repairs of the breach. Here's a thing." And it's like, no. Hmm. I'd like to... I, I want visitation.
• 8:29
[laughs] I tried to use one of those in the old shop on Locust. I ended up, uh, s- giving it to Rusty at the guitar shop. Um- It did not, did not... well, it kinda sorta did. Some do, some do, some don't.
• 8:42
But we had to vent it- As long as the whole is-... into the kitchen, and it was like, yeah, that just- If everything is connected correctly- Yeah... it's a rock star.
• 8:49
Oh, yeah If one little- We had to vent it into the-... if there's a one little thing wrong with it... Oh, it, y- um, Marilyn had another one in her house, and it popped off, so it essentially just, like, blew hot air.
• 9:04
Yeah. Yeah. So the... It did the exact opposite. So she came home to, like, the sweat lodge with, like, two animals like, [gasps] "What are you doing to me? [laughs] Are you trying to, to, like, perish me?"
• 9:16
Yes, I could see that. It was hot. Ah. Well, let's see. Anything? Oh, I don't know. Well. I was just curious. Well. We're, we're... I don't know if Trusky's gonna make it. I think he's gonna make it after the show. Yeah.
• 9:28
He was talking about going for a ride after dinner, and he doesn't know where our little cubicle of- Love is... won- love, wonder, podcast roomie thing here. He was... Oh, yeah. I don't think he is over here.
• 9:39
I don't think he's been to the... I don't think he's even been over there yet, so. Well, no, he was on Locust. He was upstairs once. Yeah, he was on Locust for sure, but- That's why- Was he ever upstairs? I don't know.
• 9:48
I don't even... Yeah. I don't know. Weird. I'll tell you what, I went upstairs earlier to retrieve these microphones so that Mike and I can use our dulcet tones on your ear holes. Hello.
• 9:55
And- So I don't have to sit there and fuck with mine... it was so freaking hot up there. I'm glad we're not up there right now. Even though it's much larger, it's much warmer up there. [laughs] Mm-hmm. This is cozy. So.
• 10:05
It's fine. [laughs] I think it's supposed to- I love you guys, okay? We're supposed to start moderating these, uh... We've, uh, we had or, and are having, uh, Tour of America's Dairyland.
• 10:15
Kinda ends on Sunday I believe, but, um- Yes... we, we went to Brady Street yesterday. Yeah, yesterday- How was that?... was great. It was awesome.
• 10:22
[laughs] Uh, Nomad Sam, um, yeah, he had to participate in the Tar Bender, which is, you know, everyone has... In between the pro women's and pro men's, they have the local sizzler. You know, like- Oh, he raced?...
• 10:37
like, like, like, the o-... Like, uh, Bay View had the fat bike crit. Right, right, right. Um- They're doing s-... I don't know 'cause, 'cause East- Um, Doner, Doner has the kids races- Right...
• 10:45
and the knock around thing. So they're doing something where they're getting, like, the bartenders of the area, or they, they did have the bartenders of the area ride a bike on a lap and drink a tall, big,
• 11:00
um, beverage at, like, eight places along- Yikes... along the one lap that they do? I don't know how many laps they're supposed to do. I don't know. I didn't get a lot of intel on the- Well, I didn't see it yesterday.
• 11:11
I didn't see it. I missed it. E- yeah, exactly. Now I'm gonna go check it out. I, I w- Sh- sh-... I'll watch it on video... shining. Yeah. And there were a lot of crashes right outside of Finks.
• 11:20
[laughs] 'Cause I'm already forecasting- Yeah, yeah... in, in the future and in past. Yeah, so tonight is- [laughs]... uh, Sherwood. Yes. Saturday i- Borwood... Saturday is- [laughs] Oh, well, here's the thing, though.
• 11:33
I live in, I live in the damn vicinity. I know, but here's the deal. I call it Borwood. So it, it makes a turn on, um, I think it's coming from the east and turning
• 11:42
south onto Oakland at Olive, and my buddy Joe has an apartment with a deck right on that corner. So he invited us and other ne'er-do-wells- Oh, right on... to stop by if you happen to- In the, uh- I don't know. Wait.
• 11:55
Yeah, that Three Lions corner-ish. It's right... I don't know. Oh, wait, Olive. I got a picture. I'll show you, but it's Olive and Oakland I believe it's on the, it would be probably the southeast corner.
• 12:06
It's a newer apartment building As you can hear, I know my, my own- Right? [laughs]... municipality- You know it well. Very well... I know my own neighborhood really well.
• 12:13
[laughs] It's like, I don't know, it's over there. It's, yeah, the place I don't like hanging out. That's where I buy groceries. All right.
• 12:19
So- [laughs] I'm gonna push this button just because, uh, let's just see if this works this week. I- Oh. [laughs] Our technology's been, our tech... Hey. Hey, uh, hey, oh, radio program listener.
• 12:29
Who's, who's on the line there now talking to us at this point? What's going on, y'all? It's Big Sexy. Oh, nice. Oh, hey, sorry we had to kinda drop you last week, but you had a really goofy connection.
• 12:41
So this week, you sound, you sound much better. I thought it was my girlfriend calling in. [laughs] Well, that's because I'm in- [laughs] That's because I'm in the shitty state of Iowa. Oh. Oh, man, you made some time.
• 12:52
You did some moving. You did some pedaling, and some riding, and some stuffing. Oh, I stayed, I stayed in the same hotel I stayed in when, uh, when my left wheel fell off the first time. Mm.
• 13:05
And, and the lady recognizes me, goes, "Oh, you had the broken bicycle. You have broken bicycle again?" I'm like, "No, no, no. It's good. It's good. I'm just staying the night." [laughs] Mm-hmm. [laughs] Oh, man.
• 13:17
So how's Heather? Yeah, it's been, it's been quite the fiasco, especially with the, the wheel fell off again in, in Hannibal, Missouri. Here, I'm gonna get out of the wind.
• 13:26
Yeah, I think last week you had said that you got a part coming from Schwanke to put on Heather, and we were saying, is Heather now- Right... not, not completely Heather anymore? She's been morphed into- Yeah...
• 13:37
some, some- Trans... trans. [laughs] Maybe. Maybe a little trans- Trans Heather... trans operation. [laughs] Trans, trans Heather? [laughs] 'Tis the season. It is Pride Month. Yeah, I don't know. That's true.
• 13:47
Jump into the fire. I don't know. I, I know, I know, I know for a fact I fucked something up when I replaced the axle, 'cause they only sent me the axle this time. They didn't send me the complete frame. Mm.
• 13:58
And I, I had to- Axwell?... replace the axle- Gaswell?... in 100 degrees. I'm sorry. Can't hear you. No, no, no. No. I'm just- He's just blathering, Michael Blather, color man guy stuff. Okay. Continue with your story.
• 14:11
So, um, I- Yes. Don't, don't listen to me [laughs] I, 100-degree heat. If you can picture- Yeah... the movie... Oh, good, a bunch of motorcycles are coming in, so I can't hear anything. Um,
• 14:28
if you can picture Ted Striker in Airplane! trying to land the plane and the, and the sweat just pouring down his face- Yep... that's what was happening to me. And I think I missed a very key part
• 14:42
on the axle that holds the, the, um, the rear sprocket in place.
• 14:48
'Cause I snapped it in place and tightened the chain, and everything was all good, but now a rather large bump or some wobbly road kicks the chain right off of it. Mm. And, uh, I... It, it's just not quite right.
• 15:01
I'm like, I must have missed a piece or something like that, but- What, uh- Me and my brother are gonna take a- Sleeve tensioner? Oh, cool. What, what town are you in in Iowa? Are you in Keokuk or somewhere better?
• 15:12
Oh, I'm, uh, way, way better than Keokuk as far as I know. [laughs] I only, I only just got here, 'cause I went 53 miles today. I'm in Burlington, Iowa. Um, okay. You've only just begun.
• 15:23
So I, we know a bunch of bike shops in Iowa. Just maybe, uh, uh, text me what stops, what towns you're going through, and I'll see if we can find someone to take a look at Heather. 'Cause I used to do, uh, I used to...
• 15:35
Iowa was my territory when I used to sell wholesale bike parts, so I know a lot of shops down that way. Right on. Well, that, that... Yeah, that'd be cool.
• 15:43
I'll, I'll, I'll give you a list of towns I'm, I'm rolling through. Uh, um, I'm getting, uh, um, I, I... and, and I'm, I'm really sorry. I have really bad news for you guys. Uh-oh. Uh-oh.
• 15:57
My brother is, my brother is moving in the month of July, and his due date, uh, he, he has to be out of his place and into his new place by my birthday, August 5th.
• 16:10
So I am not going to make it there for the River, River West 24, and I'm- Ugh... fucking absolutely- Big Sexy lists 24? This is a travesty. Yes. Well, there's a lot- I'm absolutely shattered...
• 16:23
there's a lot of time between now and then. I'm absolutely so sad that I can't make it. There's a lot of time between now and then. You never know what happens. Yep. Little things can, you know- Right.
• 16:31
Well- Life, life finds a way... but I'll still, I, I'll, I'll be back. I'll, I'll, I'm gonna come to Milwaukee no matter what before the snow starts falling. I'm coming. I'm coming for a visit.
• 16:43
My friend, uh, up in Merrill, Wisconsin promised me that even if we have to, uh, take Heather apart and put her back together again in Milwaukee, we're gonna, we're gonna make a visit down that way, so.
• 16:55
Yeah, it'll be Heather Fest 24. Yeah. We can, we can do a Heather Fest. We can, we can make our own holiday up. [laughs] The, The People's Holiday 2. Yeah.
• 17:02
But I, I, I was, I was absolutely planning on being there for that, and I was also supposed to go, um, to a show in Chicago with my friend, um, from Merrill for my birthday, and I, I can't.
• 17:15
Um, I'm not making any of that, but that's okay. Uh, I, I need to, I need to help my brother out. He, um, he's helped me out plenty of fucking times in my life, so I gotta, you know- Totally, dude. Totally...
• 17:27
return the favor and help him move, so. Totally. Cool. Um, where are you gonna be this Saturday? Do you, do you know what town you're gonna be in yet? No. Like- Um, let's see.
• 17:41
Uh, we were Hitchcock, um, I, I, I don't know the na- the, it's, uh, it's one of the, it's... That's a town in Florida, but I, but, um, uh, I'm hope- uh, Saturday? It's Wednesday.
• 17:54
Hopefully by Saturday I'll be in Iowa City. Oh.
• 17:57
Oh, that might be an interesting place to be, 'cause the World Naked Bike Ride is on Saturday, and we have a contingent here in Milwaukee that does it, but I would be surprised if Iowa City didn't have-...
• 18:08
an event on World Naked Bike Ride Day, which is Saturday the 25th. [laughs] So you never know- It might be, well-... you get to ride Heather naked. That'd be- Yeah... something new maybe.
• 18:17
Or is it, have you done that before? Eh. Just out of necessity. [laughs] No, because, because, um, be- because I've got- "I shouldn't have." Like, once... my skin, my, m- my exposed, my exposed skin is red,
• 18:31
and my, the, the skin under my clothes is dwite- white. [laughs] And if I even, if I, if I even took one day with, with those clothes off or my shirt off, even my shirt off, I would probably burn and blister. Yeah.
• 18:45
[laughs] Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Well, it's usually later in the day. I th- actually I think it's here at 4:00, which surprises me, but oftentimes- Yeah, I think, yeah-... it's like 7:00 at night...
• 18:51
I think it's rolled out at 4:00... you know, so you're not, you're not getting your nether regions, uh, totally scorched by the, the sun.
• 18:57
Yeah, it's all body positivity, and I, I saw some of the footage, and I mean, I don't have a positive body. Oh, boy. I don't have a positive body, but- [laughs]...
• 19:07
I'd be one of the- Adding, adding all- I, I'd be on the plus part of the spectrum [laughs] from the- Yeah... from the footage I saw. [laughs] Yeah, for sure. I was like, "Dude, right on." As, a-
• 19:16
a- as you guys know, I have, I've had very little, um- [laughs]... law enfor- enforcement encounters on my trips, but I'm adding them up in Iowa, and Iowa cops are fucking assholes. Well, that's a bummer.
• 19:32
Iowa cops have been up my ass- So remorseless... every single time I go through Iowa. So I don't wanna invite any of that- [laughs]... madness into my life either. Yeah, knock on some wood around you. Yeah.
• 19:43
Well, that would be easy if you were naked. [laughs] Is brick wood? Ba-da-bump-bump. Um, yeah, no, I don't know. No, Tony wants to talk. Yeah, so I, I, I, I- Tony, Tony's up... kinda- [laughs]
• 19:58
I kinda, I kinda screwed up, I kinda screwed up replacing the axle, but I couldn't see. I ki- I, I was in the, I was in the sun, 100-degree heat, and I was just trying to get it done.
• 20:09
I think I m- I just missed something. Mm. So we're gonna figure it out when I get to my brother's. We'll f- we'll take her apart and figure out the hell we're gonna do. All right. How, how close are you?
• 20:18
It might be just a, it might be just a part I need to order or something like that, but, but a- it's only fallen off twice, so it's not that bad. Right on.
• 20:32
But anyway, I'll, uh, man, I hope everything's going well, good with y'all. It's finally summertime, and- Top, man... riding, riding Summertime Are you going with Dave across the lake again or what?
• 20:43
Yeah, we're planning on doing that, I think, early August. We're gonna go, but we're doing the other ferry, not the Lake Express. We're doing the, um, I, it's the Badger. Right. The Badger. Yeah, the Badger.
• 20:53
So we're gonna take that across to Ludington and head north. That's the plan at this point. Cool. Hell, yeah.
• 21:01
Um, I, uh, early August, like I said, I'll, I'll, I'll be, I'll still be in Minneapolis, and I'll, I, you know, I'll, I would, there's no way I would make it. But I'll be there in spirit. Right on.
• 21:13
So when do you think you're gonna get through Milwaukee? You got an idea yet, like late August, early September or something like that?
• 21:19
I would, I would, I would say, uh, most likely, uh, uh, maybe, maybe Labor Day even, maybe, like, a, a Labor Day weekend. Gotcha. Right on. All right. Well, that sounds cool. That would be, that would be cool.
• 21:32
The, I was planning on being in, in Minneapolis for Labor Day, but then, you know, but n- now, now I'm gonna be in Minneapolis when I wanted to be there, and I'm gonna, and now I'll be there when I wanted to be in Minneapolis, so it's a fair trade, I think.
• 21:45
So is he staying in Minneapolis- Right... or is he moving out of the area? No, no. He's, he's staying, he's staying in the area, but he, he's moving into a lake house. Oh, boy.
• 21:54
Well, there's about 10,000 lakes up there- Yeah... I hear, from- Yeah... the license plate. Enough of them. [laughs] Well, right, right.
• 21:59
But, um, he, he's, he's move, he's, uh, he's gonna be living on the lake that me and him grew up on. We, we grew up on, uh, Lake Minnetonka, and, uh- [laughs]... Big Island w- was where our dads lived.
• 22:10
So we lived on an island for at least part-time for a good majority of our childhood. Wow. So we can't, I can't wait to- That's sweet...
• 22:17
go boating around, go boating around that lake and, uh, checking, checking our old, all our old places out, so. Yeah. Yeah. Living on a lake is something special.
• 22:25
I only did it briefly for, oh, I don't know, eight months or something. But, uh, it, it's just a whole different lifestyle. It's really, I think it's so laid back.
• 22:33
[laughs] Why would you leave your lake house- That's, uh-... if you don't have to? Yeah. That's actually, Lake Minnetonka, that island is where Dinardo lived. [laughs] The Big Island? [laughs] Big Island? I'm right on.
• 22:43
The, uh- Oh, yeah. That's on purpose... when he, when he was living in Minneapolis- Oh... in that area, he was living on that same island. Well, there were- Oh, really? It's hilarious that he brings it up... there were,
• 22:52
there were, there, there were times when we had to, um, when we had to boat, we couldn't, we couldn't walk across the ice, and we couldn't drive across the ice.
• 22:59
We had to boat across the ice, but we had to break the ice to get the boat across the ice, and that was a pain in the ass sometimes. Wow. Yeah, that's fun stuff. Living on an island like we did. Fun stuff. Yes.
• 23:10
I remember, I remember canoeing up in, uh, Upper Michigan in, like, November, and, and there's open water, but you have to kinda stand in the canoe and break through the ice to get to the open water.
• 23:19
You just kinda jump on it till the ice breaks. Yeah. So that's good. [laughs] That's perfect. I, I, I love- Yeah... those days. [laughs] And, and, and, and not tip over and kill yourself. Right, right. Well, yeah.
• 23:29
Don't rock the boat, baby. That, that's why you wanna save the- Don't tip the boat... the bottle of Jack Daniels until after you get back if, instead of going out there, 'cause it gets pretty silly- [laughs]...
• 23:36
when you're slipping around. [laughs] It sure does. I agree. Oh. All right, Big Sexy, well, uh, we're gonna wrap this puppy up. And, uh, m- I, w- I'm glad we had a good connection. It's good to catch up with you.
• 23:52
Thank you very much. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. Um, I, I'm, uh, like I said, I'm, I'm doing, I'm doing just fine.
• 23:58
The just, the, the chain is gonna be an issue the whole, the whole rest of the way up, but we'll fix it, and we'll get it, we'll, we'll get her all ready, and, uh, hopefully, um, hopefully we can do that late August, uh, early September.
• 24:11
Uh, hit, hit the Bremen and, uh, hit, hit the, um-... gonna hit the Riverwest and do the podcast and all that. It, it, I, I, I guarantee I will be down there before it still talks. Hell- All right, brother...
• 24:26
Thread of Heather Seth. Yes. Heather Seth. We'll, we'll talk to you soon. Thanks for calling. See you next, next time. But I wouldn't show up without Heather. No. All right, y'all take it easy now. Have a good one.
• 24:35
All right. Peace. Bye. Big Sexy, everybody. Big Sexy out. Out.
• 24:40
Well, I'm glad that we got a good connection, 'cause it's, uh, I always like to hear what he has to say, but when I can't understand it or it's just, uh, yeah, whatever. You know what I'm saying. Yes, I know.
• 24:49
But- I can see it. Ts, ts, ts, ts. [laughs] You know what I mean. [laughs] Well, if I, if- And I- Otherwise, I have to edit it, and I don't wanna edit it. Exactly. You see what I'm saying?
• 24:58
[laughs] I understand completely. Then you take it out on us. [laughs] I'll just leave the door open. Ooh. I'll just go where the... Take the cooler off and just leave the beer get warm. I don't care. Ah, all right. Boy.
• 25:10
Uh, boy. Good Lord, no. From under the, under the... So yeah, all right. Well, otherwise, I don't know. I mean, yeah- And so- Secondarily... end of the week, mm. Yeah. So Fat Tire Tour- Mm... it was a good time.
• 25:22
Good time. Oh, it's- Interesting route. Not- Yeah, not the- I mean, we didn't do the- Not the route I would've picked, but, but- Well, we didn't, we didn't pre-ride. I mean- But we're not from Green Bay after all. Right.
• 25:31
So. So. Yeah. We could've informed a little bit, but whatever. It was fun- Well, you know what? It was fun to observe. We do our own bike ride called Steel is Real in September. Yeah. We'll just do what we wanna do.
• 25:42
Yeah. And frankly- It'd be cooler... I like our, I like the rides more, like, 50 to 80 people rather than the... Because you can go- Uh, absolutely... to so many more places. Right. We're just, you're so locked into...
• 25:52
W- so we stopped at Washington Park, which is a, the bigge- Yeah... is it the biggest park in Milwaukee County? Mm, might be. It's pretty good size. It's pretty big.
• 25:59
And, but we were in a, we were in a parking lot by the maintenance shed, and big piles of, uh, mulch there. Um- It wasn't, like, a good- The, uh, yeah... great spot... it was like... Well, no. I agree.
• 26:10
It's the entrance to the, uh- Was there ever a good one?... Urban Ecology Center. Yeah. Sort of, yeah. A fly on both of you. Yeah, but- [laughs] But we could've gone to the Urban... Uh, anyway, whatever.
• 26:18
I'm just- So-... no, to accommodate that amount of people in a derby... right. Here's my point, is that that wasn't that great a spot. Then we go to Company Brewery on Center Street, great place. But not for 500 people.
• 26:30
No, not even close. Even in waves, even in waves that doesn't work well. Yeah, so, so JK and I went down to Uptowner, and I kept texting people. [laughs] I'm like, "It's like two blocks away.
• 26:38
You should come down here"- Yeah... "'cause there's, free bathrooms are open, and it's two for five 16-ounce Pabst Blue Ribbon beers." It's like- And it's Uptowner, man. Come on... and it's Uptowner for w- why would...
• 26:48
If you were in the area, why would you not stop there, is my point. My, my nieces showed up at Company, so we hung with them. So you should've come to Uptowner. Yeah. Yeah. It was awesome. They wanted to see the house.
• 26:58
Anyway, so after Uptowner- So-... where did we go? We went to- It was, uh, Sprecher... Sprecher. The Sprecher. Sprecher. With a very interesting, uh, course ride on it, I'll just say.
• 27:08
It was taking the, uh, artery, Beer Line to the artery. Mm-hmm. Uh-huh. And then going down and going onto Capitol for a jog, and go- Oh, no. Oh, yes... and go, and go up- Oh... go up the ramp. Oh, yeah, he also- Yeah.
• 27:22
Yeah... I don't think he realized that in Riverwest it crosses streets every block. It's not like a contiguous path. Right, right. So that was- I mean, it wa- it was relaxing.
• 27:30
Technically, he's not supposed to take the paths. Nobody is supposed to use- Exactly... a bike path for, for an- But- For an event... organized event. That's true.
• 27:37
Dude, all, dude, he's, uh, he's the dude for, uh- From, he's from Green Bay. He can, he can plead ignorance. And, yeah, and we- And you're still- Leif's-... have no excuse... Leif weapon two, diplomatic immunity.
• 27:46
That said- You know? [laughs]... taking, taking Esterbrook Road through the park instead of the, instead of that would've been way better. Yeah. You know, there's a lot of better ways to go. Yeah.
• 27:54
I'm not saying- That's why- It's not our ride. I don't care. But we didn't do it. We didn't help this either. Do we have 500 people? No, I don't want- We didn't do the pre-ride. It's on us.
• 27:59
I don't want 500 people anyway. And I would've told him. I didn't wanna get, I didn't wanna get into it on it. All right. But- After Sprecher, though, guess where we went?
• 28:05
A random loading dock in the city of Milwaukee, which was- Oh, for-... at the end of Wright Street... Milwaukee Brewing? No. Oh. At the end of Wright Street, we stopped at that- Gig...
• 28:13
just, just east of the gig, that loading dock right off of the Beer Line. Really? Yeah, the whole street was packed for that dock. So technically, if you didn't wanna go to Sprecher, you could've just, like, rolled- Why?
• 28:23
I think, did we go back to Uptowner then? 'Cause it was right there. Yes, we did. Yes, we- Uh- No... uh, no, we stopped at- But, but why?... at Bremen first. Oh, we went to Bremen instead.
• 28:32
Yeah, to have, go to Bremen, have a cracker. It's just a big spot where they could have a bunch of people. Yeah. And they had- I mean, you're trying to herd 4-ish hundred- Yeah, they had, I don't know.
• 28:39
I forgot what they had- Well, at this point, 300 people... for drinking there, but they had buckets of something. Which, by the way, Sprecher was set up with buckets.
• 28:44
All you had to do was throw a token at them, and you'd get a can in, like, 18 seconds or less. Mm-hmm. Not- Oh... standing in line for a half hour. Yeah, they were very efficient on that one. Yeah, that was a good one.
• 28:53
But I, uh, those big... And then so at Sprecher they had the barrel- I don't wanna be, like, semi-responsible- They had the barrel bash... for that many people ever again.
• 29:01
Have you done barrel bash and bent forks or smashed up headsets? Because that's a dumb way to wreck your bike, is to bash a quarter barrel of beer with your- Mm. The front of your bike.
• 29:10
I did it at, um, um, what's the place that's closing unfortunately in, um- Benno's? T- yes, thank you. Oh, yeah. It already closed. We did it there. I, I di- Yeah, I think I did it with you...
• 29:18
I didn't really think about how bad that is for your bike, [laughs] but that's not- We did it on fat bikes, too, which helped I think. Yeah, that did probably help.
• 29:23
That's not something a bicycle's designed to do, though, is to ram into something head on. [laughs] Right.
• 29:28
Um, I'm pretty sure there's a bent fork or headset needing replacement or- So it, it was the five-year anniversary. All roads lead to Mazzy Star and Denardo. Uh- It was. Yeah, because it was the day of Fat Tire.
• 29:44
Fat Tire Tour, yep. So we did the ride, and- And then came- It just went back to the scene of the crime. [laughs] Like, okay. For the, for the wedding. Boom, boom, boom. Yeah. And we're back. Holy Christ.
• 29:57
[laughs] And we're back. [laughs] To... Yeah. All right, well- It was- Yeah, there you go... I can't remember what the theme was on that year. Yeah. I do not recall either. Mm. Yeah.
• 30:07
Uh, I, Devo was involved or something like that, because I saw... Okay, I will remember after the show. Yeah. Yes. 'Cause that's what we do. Speaking of, it's gonna be after the show very shortly here.
• 30:17
Hey, thanks to Big Sexy for calling in, and glad that, uh, he's working his way north. Hope we can get Heather hooked up and- We, we didn't talk about the electric- And that he enjoys-...
• 30:25
state bike that released Well, and that he enjoys Iowa more than he sounded. Or- He just sounded like crestfallen that he was in a state, like, uh- We can talk about that next week... "Now I'm in goddamn Iowa."
• 30:34
A vegan minor. It wasn't even, none of that stuff's on my list. Oh, okay. Uh, so yeah, we can talk about that next week. Okay.
• 30:40
Oh, there's a, a Milwaukee bike polo fundraiser in, uh, in the works apparently happening in a month or two-ish. We should have someone- Via No Man's Land. Oh. Probably. Maybe we should have him on the show. Exactly.
• 30:53
He just asked me to do a plug. There's my plug. Well, maybe he should be on the show and plug it himself. I did. We'll have more information about that- This was the teaser trailer... down in the notes... guys.
• 31:02
Oh, and we will be- It's the teaser... I, I have another teaser that very soon we're also gonna have Corey Bauman on with- Yeah. I, I heard-... hints and tips- Oh, and actually-... for the Riverwest 24...
• 31:11
and actually your- Oh, that sounds good... your teaser was the text going like, "Yeah, tonight." Oh, wait. Oh, wait. Tomorrow. July sometime. Sorry. July, maybe. July. [laughs] Well, it's two weeks from now. All right.
• 31:21
Well, let's make sure he's- Mm... on the calendar, 'cause our calendar fills up fast for guests. Oh, yeah. I tell you what. Oh, yeah. Oh my gosh, there's so many people. Look at them. They're cute outside. All right.
• 31:30
Yeah. And is that Trusky out there? No, I don't know. All right. Later everyone. Okay. Bye, Dr. Nick. Little doggy on the phone, too.
• 31:36
