- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey! Here we go.
- 0:07Speaker 2: For all you mad bastards loving the Big Show Podcast,
- 0:12Speaker 2: get up even closer on Instagram, YouTube and TikTok. Or
- 0:17Speaker 2: Raw Dog It.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Four to seven every weekday.
- 0:20Speaker 2: On Radio Hodak here. Oh!
- 0:23Speaker 3: Oh, g'day fellas! Hello.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Um.
- 0:29Speaker 4: It was funny, actually, because my boss just said to
- 0:32Speaker 4: me in the off, did you hear him, Mogi?
- 0:34Speaker 2: Don't know.
- 0:35Speaker 4: He said to me, do you realise, do you have
- 0:39Speaker 4: some sort of earworm or something? And I said, what
- 0:42Speaker 4: do you mean? And he said, oh, I'm just... wondering
- 0:45Speaker 4: if you're aware of the fact that you just constantly
- 0:48Speaker 4: make a lot of noises.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Did he say that?
- 0:50Speaker 3: He said that, which I went, hang on.
- 0:52Speaker 2: He's the last person.
- 0:54Speaker 3: Yeah, hang on here.
- 0:57Speaker 4: But I replied to him and I said, yes, I
- 0:58Speaker 4: am aware of the fact that I do that. And
- 1:01Speaker 4: then it's just funny because... I've been coming in and
- 1:04Speaker 4: out of the studio listening to Mogi.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Do you think that we have... What is that? I
- 1:15Speaker 3: don't know what that is.
- 1:16Speaker 2: ADHD? I think it is. There was a great comment
- 1:19Speaker 2: on that video that you guys sent, or that Keezy
- 1:23Speaker 2: sent me with the.
- 1:24Speaker 3: Oh, you and the... Yes, in the kitchen.
- 1:27Speaker 2: And the comment was, ADHD is like being possessed by
- 1:32Speaker 2: your personality or some shit like that.
- 1:34Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Oh, interesting. Something along those lines, and it had like
- 1:39Speaker 2: 130,000 likes. But yeah, you're just nonstop. You're nonstop, and
- 1:45Speaker 2: you don't even notice it. Well, I don't. I notice
- 1:48Speaker 2: it in you. I mean, you seem like an insane man. Yeah.
- 1:51Speaker 2: And then Toddy, he's got a fucking cheek.
- 1:53Speaker 3: Yeah, well, that's what I mean. I was like, excuse me.
- 1:56Speaker 5: So you'll notice that my desk is directly opposite him,
- 2:00Speaker 5: and he will put on headphones and have no idea
- 2:03Speaker 5: what's coming out of his mouth, and it'll be this.
- 2:05Speaker 5: It'll be him tapping on the keyboard, and it'll be.
- 2:14Speaker 2: So there you go. So what we've found is there's
- 2:16Speaker 2: something wrong with pugs. Yeah. Because three out of four
- 2:20Speaker 2: backbones are off their fucking heads. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 2:25Speaker 3: I'm too straight edge, fellas.
- 2:26Speaker 2: I've got to loosen up a little bit, get some.
- 2:29Speaker 4: Yeah, well, I do like, I wonder how my wife
- 2:35Speaker 4: deals with it because I actually don't think I'm as
- 2:39Speaker 4: bad at home.
- 2:41Speaker 3: But I probably am.
- 2:42Speaker 2: You are.
- 2:43Speaker 3: You're in your sanctuary.
- 2:44Speaker 2: My wife said to, it must have been to my brother,
- 2:47Speaker 2: she said, you can hear me coming from over a
- 2:49Speaker 2: block away. So it's good. She said it's good because
- 2:52Speaker 2: it gives her time to get her kid into bed
- 2:54Speaker 2: because she always lets her stay up later.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Yes.
- 2:56Speaker 2: And to tidy the house up.
- 2:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:58Speaker 2: You know, she's got about five minutes. It's a couple
- 3:01Speaker 2: of Ks. Yeah, yeah. Shit, he's going to be upset
- 3:04Speaker 2: about that. I can hear him stimming. That's the one
- 3:07Speaker 2: thing I do notice is the yawn. Yes. I'll go. Yeah, yeah.
- 3:12Speaker 2: And I'll do that walking down Queen Street. Yeah. I've
- 3:16Speaker 2: not seen anyone else doing that.
- 3:18Speaker 3: Nah.
- 3:18Speaker 2: And people turning around and looking.
- 3:23Speaker 3: I'll tell you what I did.
- 3:24Speaker 2: He's literally turning around looking at you. It's fucking.
- 3:26Speaker 4: I'll tell you what I did the other night, and
- 3:27Speaker 4: this is a bit of a reveal about old Hoity J.
- 3:31Speaker 3: It's not great.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Uh-oh.
- 3:32Speaker 3: It's not great. Because my head just yabbers away.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:37Speaker 4: It's just constantly just hammering away at me, and it's
- 3:40Speaker 4: sometimes with thoughts that I really don't appreciate.
- 3:45Speaker 3: You know, just negative thoughts. Intrusive. Intrusive, negative thoughts.
- 3:49Speaker 4: Anxious sort of ridden thoughts. And I was walking down.
- 3:56Speaker 4: I was walking past Sky City after work, actually. And
- 4:00Speaker 4: these thoughts were hammering away. And I had my headphones
- 4:04Speaker 4: on listening to tunes and bloody hammering away there.
- 4:08Speaker 3: And out loud I said to myself, shut the fuck up.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Yep.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Like out loud.
- 4:15Speaker 2: In public.
- 4:16Speaker 3: In public.
- 4:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:17Speaker 3: And I went, oh, that's not good.
- 4:21Speaker 4: But interestingly, interestingly, interestingly, my head did shut the fuck
- 4:27Speaker 4: up for a couple of hours.
- 4:29Speaker 3: I was just so. over my negative thinking.
- 4:33Speaker 2: But you would have been just solely focused on the
- 4:35Speaker 2: fact that you'd had a verbal outburst in the middle
- 4:38Speaker 2: of the street. Yeah.
- 4:39Speaker 4: That could have very easily turned into an anxiety-ridden thought process,
- 4:45Speaker 4: but it didn't actually. It was just like, shut the
- 4:47Speaker 4: fuck up. And then it was like, okay, good. We've
- 4:51Speaker 4: had our conversation.
- 4:52Speaker 2: That'll learn them in there.
- 4:59Speaker 3: Oh, g'day, Matt. Oh, hi, mate, yeah.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Look, if you want the chance to win all our
- 5:04Speaker 1: on-air competitions and stuff and get amongst the live conversation,
- 5:10Speaker 1: tune in to the Hauraki Big Show, four to seven
- 5:13Speaker 1: weekdays on Radio Hauraki and iHeartRadio.
- 5:18Speaker 3: The Hauraki Big Show Podcast.
- 5:20Speaker 4: But, yeah, I mean, this whole ADHD thing is, you know,
- 5:23Speaker 4: a good friend of ours, she recently got diagnosed with it.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Right.
- 5:30Speaker 3: And, you know, we're actually quite similar people. Yeah. And
- 5:34Speaker 3: she said to me, oh, you 100% have ADHD. But
- 5:38Speaker 3: I also– but.
- 5:41Speaker 2: I do think, like, who– I think there's probably good–
- 5:45Speaker 2: there'll be a spectrum, right? There'll be a line and
- 5:47Speaker 2: you sit on it somewhere. And I don't give a
- 5:49Speaker 2: fuck if I've got– I don't give a shit. I'm
- 5:52Speaker 2: perfectly happy with how things are going.
- 5:54Speaker 3: That's right.
- 5:55Speaker 2: That's right. It does be– because I think once you
- 5:59Speaker 2: get diagnosed, then what?
- 6:02Speaker 3: Drugs.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Exactly. To be diagnosed means that you need treatment, I
- 6:07Speaker 2: would generally think. I don't want any treatment.
- 6:10Speaker 5: Yeah, I think I agree that some people just like
- 6:13Speaker 5: to know. For confirmation, maybe they've had trouble. Like my sister,
- 6:17Speaker 5: for example, she's had a lot of trouble focusing and
- 6:20Speaker 5: things like that, multitasking or whatever. So for her, it's
- 6:23Speaker 5: just a peace.
- 6:23Speaker 3: Of mind thing.
- 6:24Speaker 2: To know what it is. I don't remember.
- 6:26Speaker 5: I don't know what kind of action she's taken. But
- 6:29Speaker 5: in that case, it's good. But for you, it's like,
- 6:30Speaker 5: who cares?
- 6:31Speaker 2: No, that's right. But I do believe that it is
- 6:33Speaker 2: good to know what kind of a machine you're operating, right?
- 6:35Speaker 2: Because you're just in a body.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Yes.
- 6:38Speaker 2: Your personality sits inside it. And you can't help what
- 6:44Speaker 2: it is. So there's no point blaming yourself for the
- 6:46Speaker 2: kind of person you are because it's the body you
- 6:47Speaker 2: were born into and it does its own thing. It
- 6:49Speaker 2: had nothing to do with you. Do you know what
- 6:51Speaker 2: I mean? It's a machine. You've been put into this machine.
- 6:53Speaker 2: But the good thing is to learn how the machine
- 6:55Speaker 2: works and then once you know how it works, to
- 6:58Speaker 2: be able to use that in your favour.
- 7:01Speaker 3: Yes.
- 7:02Speaker 2: If you know what I mean. To your advantage. As
- 7:04Speaker 2: opposed to it being a hindrance.
- 7:06Speaker 4: And that's kind of how I view it in the
- 7:10Speaker 4: sense of, yes, you know, I'm kind of loud. But
- 7:15Speaker 4: it's also a part of who I am. And there
- 7:19Speaker 4: is an equal positive side to the negative.
- 7:22Speaker 3: If there's a negative. And there is a negative.
- 7:25Speaker 4: Because I do get very intrusive thoughts that repeat themselves
- 7:29Speaker 4: over and over in a treadmill.
- 7:31Speaker 3: That's not cool.
- 7:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:32Speaker 3: That's not cool.
- 7:33Speaker 2: No. But that's the thing. If you've got something that
- 7:36Speaker 2: is negative, then it would be good to have, to
- 7:39Speaker 2: be able to, is there something that can sort that out? Yes.
- 7:42Speaker 2: And I would prefer never to take a drug. Yes.
- 7:44Speaker 2: Unless it comes in a bag.
- 7:46Speaker 3: Well, this is the thing, you know.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:48Speaker 3: That'll straighten your eye out.
- 7:50Speaker 2: I have always. Because you never have voices in your
- 7:53Speaker 2: head after that.
- 7:53Speaker 4: Despite my, you know, addictions and so forth, I've always
- 7:59Speaker 4: been a snob with pills.
- 8:01Speaker 3: I've always been like, nah, nah. Yeah, right.
- 8:04Speaker 4: Nah. You know, and I remember years ago, like we're
- 8:09Speaker 4: talking 20 years ago, getting a prescription for anxiety.
- 8:15Speaker 3: And, you know, I immediately.
- 8:17Speaker 4: Took one and was massively anxious, you know, because I
- 8:20Speaker 4: was like, oh, fuck. What's it going to do to me?
- 8:23Speaker 2: That's also what they do as well, those fucking things.
- 8:26Speaker 3: Yes, yeah.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Because they make you worse for a couple of weeks
- 8:28Speaker 2: or even longer.
- 8:29Speaker 3: They do, yes.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Before you get better.
- 8:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:31Speaker 2: What the fuck's that?
- 8:32Speaker 4: So it's like it'll be about a month before you
- 8:35Speaker 4: start to feel, you start to normalise.
- 8:38Speaker 3: So in the meantime, you'll have a month of hell,
- 8:42Speaker 3: of madness. And then it might not even work for you.
- 8:43Speaker 3: And then it might not work.
- 8:45Speaker 4: But we'll just, you know, we'll just experiment and see
- 8:48Speaker 4: where we find you at.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:49Speaker 3: Just give me Valium and be done with it, all right?
- 8:52Speaker 2: A few beers.
- 8:53Speaker 4: A few beersies. I tell you what, now give me
- 8:56Speaker 4: a packet of durries, I'll be sweet as. I'll just
- 8:59Speaker 4: go outside and have a durry.
- 9:01Speaker 2: Does that quiet the thoughts down?
- 9:02Speaker 3: Yeah, it does actually.
- 9:04Speaker 2: It gives you something to concentrate on.
- 9:05Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah.
- 9:06Speaker 3: God, I haven't had a durry in a long time. Truly,
- 9:10Speaker 3: hand on heart. Don't look at me like that, Pugs.
- 9:13Speaker 2: I have a heart. What do you call it there,
- 9:15Speaker 2: magic round? When was that?
- 9:16Speaker 3: Yeah, magic. Yeah, true. Yeah, was it?
- 9:18Speaker 5: A little beer and a burger there, yeah, and you're
- 9:19Speaker 5: having a little sugar.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:23Speaker 3: It's pretty good, man. What, Siggy's?
- 9:25Speaker 4: Well, you know, because Siggy's my greatest love probably of everything.
- 9:29Speaker 2: I don't know why you quit. I really don't.
- 9:30Speaker 3: Yeah, neither do I.
- 9:32Speaker 2: I sincerely think that they're better than vaping.
- 9:35Speaker 3: Yeah, maybe. Maybe, I don't know.
- 9:37Speaker 5: My mum, who's very, like, she doesn't know what goes
- 9:41Speaker 5: on for me a lot of the time, but she
- 9:43Speaker 5: called me one time quite recently and was like, just
- 9:46Speaker 5: whatever you're doing, don't be vaping.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:51Speaker 5: Just whatever you're doing. So I ignored everything.
- 9:52Speaker 3: It was the vape.
- 9:53Speaker 2: It was the vape. It is the vape. What is
- 9:55Speaker 2: in that juice? What is in it? There's nothing natural
- 9:58Speaker 2: in it, I can tell you that much. We don't know.
- 10:00Speaker 2: for people to be fucking hanging off those bastards.
- 10:02Speaker 5: Well, yeah, because you were to hoon on Jase's one
- 10:03Speaker 5: and it just about killed you.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Oh, my God. Yeah. It's like sucking on a fucking,
- 10:09Speaker 2: the exhaust on a truck. It just hit the back
- 10:14Speaker 2: of your throat.
- 10:15Speaker 3: Yeah, it can do that, that one.
- 10:16Speaker 2: And a hell of a load it was.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Hmm?
- 10:19Speaker 2: So I had a couple of goes on it. Yeah, me.
- 10:21Speaker 2: The same thing both times. Yeah, no good. So that's
- 10:24Speaker 2: why I was no good with them. But I don't know,
- 10:26Speaker 2: how many meg is that? Milligrams, you wouldn't even fucking know.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Two.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Fucking Jesus.
- 10:31Speaker 4: What?
- 10:31Speaker 3: Is that a lot, is it? No, because there's four.
- 10:34Speaker 2: I know. I'm sure I used to do two. But
- 10:39Speaker 2: that was, fuck, that was full on. I don't remember
- 10:41Speaker 2: you having a vape. When did you have a vape?
- 10:44Speaker 2: I vaped when me and Jase gave up. And I'd
- 10:47Speaker 2: given up for ages. We gave up for ages. We
- 10:49Speaker 2: did very well, Jase. And then I went down to
- 10:52Speaker 2: live in for a 40th and I was like, ah,
- 10:54Speaker 2: it's going to be no good. So I was going
- 10:56Speaker 2: to grab one of these vapes just to get me
- 10:58Speaker 2: through and it fucking killed me.
- 11:00Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 11:00Speaker 2: So then I ended up on the vape and my
- 11:02Speaker 2: missus did it mine. So then I'm on the couch
- 11:04Speaker 2: and I'm, you know. So then you're straight into that.
- 11:06Speaker 2: And it was, I... have never felt worse in my
- 11:09Speaker 2: life than when I was vaping.
- 11:11Speaker 3: That is, you know, the real, I mean, they're fucked
- 11:14Speaker 3: all over.
- 11:15Speaker 4: But the thing about vapes is, you know, our boss
- 11:20Speaker 4: here was telling me, he vapes in bed, he vapes
- 11:22Speaker 4: on the bog, he vapes everywhere he is.
- 11:24Speaker 3: Yeah, it's too convenient. It's just that, I mean, you
- 11:27Speaker 3: don't light up a ciggy in bed, generally speaking, unless
- 11:30Speaker 3: you've been making love, pugs. So I imagine you've... Spucked
- 11:34Speaker 3: a few in your life I'd.
- 11:36Speaker 5: Probably still go outside I'd be like hey listen.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Yeah I mean the idea of doing that Yeah I
- 11:42Speaker 2: do too Having sex What? The idea.
- 11:46Speaker 3: The idea of having sex Those were the days eh
- 11:52Speaker 3: fellas What?
- 11:53Speaker 2: What days?
- 11:55Speaker 3: The vigorous love making Yes I know, man. You don't
- 12:00Speaker 3: need to fucking tell me that.
- 12:02Speaker 2: Nobody's disputing any of that.
- 12:05Speaker 3: I mean, you're still in that vigorous stage, Bucks. That's
- 12:08Speaker 3: all good. That's all good, man. You're a young fella.
- 12:10Speaker 3: As you should be in that vigorous stage.
- 12:13Speaker 2: They call him Captain Jack, isn't it? Yeah.
- 12:18Speaker 3: So good.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Hey, if you want more of that.
- 12:21Speaker 3: Listen to the big show. What did you think of
- 12:23Speaker 3: my throbber today? A bit outside the box, wasn't it?
- 12:26Speaker 2: He said great variety today for all of us, but
- 12:28Speaker 2: yours is a shitter. Looking forward to it, though. And
- 12:33Speaker 2: you can listen to the throbber.
- 12:35Speaker 3: On the big show.
- 12:37Speaker 5: One day I'll get it out.
- 12:42Speaker 3: Video games or?
- 12:44Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, okay, no. Yummy Boys. It's got to be
- 12:47Speaker 2: the Yummy Boys. You're going for your first win of
- 12:49Speaker 2: the year, Pugs. Have I not had a win this year?
- 12:53Speaker 2: Not even close. Not even close.
- 12:58Speaker 5: Listen to the big show four to seven weekdays on iHeartRadio.
- 13:02Speaker 2: And iHeartRadio, evidently. Four to seven weekdays.
- 13:04Speaker 5: Thanks.
