- 0:00Speaker 1: Wow, cool ride bill, Shame it's on fire. It's one
- 0:03Speaker 1: more thing.
- 0:05Speaker 2: I'm strong, and one more thing.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Before we get to.
- 0:10Speaker 2: This interesting car fire story. Got a mini scandal that's
- 0:15Speaker 2: existed in my family for forty years.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Wow.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Practically I don't know it's a scandal or not, but.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Wow, this sounds like its own podcast. I mean, like
- 0:27Speaker 1: hodcasts series with like mood setting music and a double narrative.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Well, we're about to talk about some cars out there
- 0:35Speaker 2: that can catch on fire. A recall that'll keep you
- 0:38Speaker 2: tuned around because you'd like to know. Do you think
- 0:40Speaker 2: your car is about to catch on fire? Stay tuned?
- 0:43Speaker 2: My brother had a cool Mustang in high school and
- 0:49Speaker 2: the last days he went into the Army straight out
- 0:54Speaker 2: of high school, and I don't remember how many days
- 0:57Speaker 2: he had between graduation and then, but anyway, is the
- 1:00Speaker 2: last day he was out with his friends uh as
- 1:05Speaker 2: a young eighteen year old, and his car burnt to
- 1:07Speaker 2: the ground out in a field in the middle of nowhere,
- 1:10Speaker 2: on the cornfield. And I've always sworn there has to
- 1:14Speaker 2: be something to that story. They had to be doing something.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Is him and a bunch of guys he's partying it
- 1:20Speaker 2: up before he goes off to the army. Yeah, and
- 1:23Speaker 2: his car ends up burning the ground. He's like, I
- 1:25Speaker 2: don't know, he's just always been I don't know, it just.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Caught.
- 1:28Speaker 2: He just never believed that there isn't something more to
- 1:31Speaker 2: that story.
- 1:32Speaker 3: Yeah, there's a piece missage.
- 1:33Speaker 1: I know there's got to be. Yeah, but after all
- 1:36Speaker 1: these years, you would think, yeah, we were confessed we
- 1:40Speaker 1: were hammered drunk and setting off fireworks or something. Well,
- 1:44Speaker 1: unless the story is, you know, we got into a
- 1:47Speaker 1: fight with some guys, we killed them, and we burnt
- 1:50Speaker 1: their bodies inside my car, because that's the first thing
- 1:53Speaker 1: I thought. Unless it's something like that, well he'd fess
- 1:56Speaker 1: up to you, wouldn't he.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Right, Or I was running a meth lab all through
- 1:59Speaker 2: high school. Finally caught up with me.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Even then, your parents should probably be pretty disappointed in him.
- 2:05Speaker 3: But possibly he was so drunk he doesn't remember.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Oh very but I mean it was I remember driving
- 2:11Speaker 2: out to see it and it was just just the like,
- 2:15Speaker 2: well you've seen this sort of thing before from the
- 2:17Speaker 2: Palisades fire or whatever. Windows gone, the windows melted off,
- 2:21Speaker 2: the thing. I mean, it was just the skeleton of
- 2:24Speaker 2: the car. I still don't know what happened?
- 2:26Speaker 1: Yeah, wow, I've even brought it up.
- 2:29Speaker 2: I brought it up one time when we were drunk,
- 2:31Speaker 2: like twenty years after the fact, that you gotta tell
- 2:34Speaker 2: me what happened with your car?
- 2:36Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Oh, come on, you have to have some idea.
- 2:40Speaker 1: When you went to see it. Were there any bones
- 2:42Speaker 1: in it? Any human bone? Right? Really? Even one is
- 2:47Speaker 1: too many. So it's a there's a big recall of
- 2:51Speaker 1: some of these super high performing corvettes going on right
- 2:56Speaker 1: now because there have been a rash of cases where
- 2:59Speaker 1: they burst into flames while getting filled up with gas.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Did I hear that they're going to stop making the Corvette?
- 3:07Speaker 2: I don't somebody google that? Because they corvettes are the
- 3:11Speaker 2: coolest they've ever been. They're really cool, and they're also
- 3:16Speaker 2: really expensive. I mean you get like the top one,
- 3:19Speaker 2: it's like one hundred and fifty dollars or something like that.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, oh yeah. In fact, I got the data
- 3:24Speaker 1: on that. It's it's pretty amazing. And they're just ridiculously powerful. Yeah.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Because there's two models that are affected, this Z six
- 3:32Speaker 1: and the ZR one, it.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Don't look like a Corvette anymore. They look like a Lamborghini.
- 3:37Speaker 1: And let's see, the ZR one can hit two hundred
- 3:40Speaker 1: and thirty three miles per hour. That's fast enough, which
- 3:42Speaker 1: is plenty you know, if you need to shoot a gap,
- 3:44Speaker 1: that's nice to have, yes, Katie.
- 3:45Speaker 4: Yeah, they're not discontinuing the Corvette. It's getting undergoing a
- 3:48Speaker 4: major update for the twenty twenty six model, and they're
- 3:51Speaker 4: also going to release an electric model and a.
- 3:53Speaker 3: Hybrid electric which is flame ye, so hybrid Corvette.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Maybe I'll maybe I'll finish the facts and we can discuss.
- 4:02Speaker 1: So what they figured out is probably happening is these
- 4:10Speaker 1: cars have a fan that continues to run to cool
- 4:15Speaker 1: the engine even after you after you turn the car off.
- 4:19Speaker 2: So I'm there at the gas station with my mustache
- 4:22Speaker 2: because you have to have a mustache if you drive
- 4:23Speaker 2: a Corvette. Clearly and my two young for me girlfriend.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Okay, see, now you're getting into the top of guy's
- 4:30Speaker 1: going to get into. Do you look at Corvettes and
- 4:36Speaker 1: assume the guy driving it.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Is a bit of a dB I don't with the
- 4:40Speaker 2: new ones. You don't know, No, I don't, Katie, I
- 4:45Speaker 2: don't know why. I've got like no reasoning behind this.
- 4:48Speaker 2: With the newer models. I don't, but I have most
- 4:51Speaker 2: of my life.
- 4:52Speaker 3: It totally depends to me on how they're driving it. M.
- 4:56Speaker 2: You don't you have you ever dated a Corvette guy?
- 4:59Speaker 1: No, it tends to be these days.
- 5:03Speaker 3: Well no, I just I just haven't.
- 5:05Speaker 4: But you know, if I see a guy driving a Corvette,
- 5:07Speaker 4: I'm like, okay, nice car. Then if he cuts me off,
- 5:09Speaker 4: I'm like, okay, you're a douchebag with a nice car.
- 5:12Speaker 2: I don't know, and I like, like, like American made car.
- 5:15Speaker 2: So I just I don't know. I've always had an
- 5:16Speaker 2: attitude about the Corvette guy.
- 5:18Speaker 1: So I drove a Porsche for a couple of years,
- 5:22Speaker 1: and yes, I pronounced it Porsche because I studied German
- 5:24Speaker 1: for years and years and I just can't bring myself
- 5:26Speaker 1: to mispronounce it. On the other hand, my brother, who
- 5:30Speaker 1: studied German for years and years, Yeah, that's his fixed,
- 5:36Speaker 1: pronounces the coffee machine the Koi rig because that is
- 5:41Speaker 1: the proper German and I don't even go that far.
- 5:44Speaker 2: So you draw a line.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Anyway, There's there's a joke, what's the difference between a
- 5:49Speaker 1: porcupine and a Porsche? And the difference is with a
- 5:54Speaker 1: porcupine a pricks are on the outside, meaning there's a
- 5:59Speaker 1: high dB ratio among people who drive that particular automobile.
- 6:05Speaker 2: Reminds me a girl in high school. They always used
- 6:07Speaker 2: to say, I won't use her name because she's probably
- 6:09Speaker 2: a very nice, upstanding mom at this point, her grandma maybe,
- 6:12Speaker 2: But I remember, you know what the difference between Oh,
- 6:17Speaker 2: I don't even want to make up a name, because
- 6:18Speaker 2: there might be somebody with that name.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:20Speaker 2: Do you know what the difference between so and so
- 6:22Speaker 2: and a Mercedes is not everyone's been in a Mercedes?
- 6:25Speaker 1: No boy, oh boy.
- 6:28Speaker 3: So you're saying she's a whore.
- 6:30Speaker 1: She was loose, she's loose sexually speaking, generally, the sort of.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Joke that high school boys make about some girl that
- 6:37Speaker 2: they wish they could be with, but they haven't been
- 6:39Speaker 2: near one hundred percent ratio.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Yes, oh so, yeah, pretending to reject that which has
- 6:47Speaker 1: rejected you. Right, Yeah, I don't think she's hot at all.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Don't say that guy's ever. Don't just don't trust anyway.
- 6:55Speaker 1: I just think there could be a higher ratio of
- 7:00Speaker 1: dbishness among the drivers of certain cars, but it's nowhere
- 7:05Speaker 1: near one hundred percent. I've known some wonderful of course.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Of course, of course you are enthusiasts of cars that
- 7:12Speaker 1: tend to attract, like, look at me, how cool I
- 7:16Speaker 1: am DB's But one must not stereos of course. All right.
- 7:21Speaker 2: My brother, same brother, he had a Corvette for a while. Yeah,
- 7:23Speaker 2: and I like my brother. Yeah, and I continue to
- 7:26Speaker 2: make those jokes. I don't know why I continue to
- 7:28Speaker 2: make those jokes.
- 7:29Speaker 1: It's your bad person.
- 7:30Speaker 2: So anyway, a guy who gets flipped off for what
- 7:32Speaker 2: he drives almost every day of my life. Ah right,
- 7:36Speaker 2: driving a cyber truck, right right. Kind of got a
- 7:40Speaker 2: big one the other day from a street person. I
- 7:42Speaker 2: want to say, you live on the street.
- 7:45Speaker 1: Wait.
- 7:45Speaker 4: Even though he's not really worth with the administration anymore,
- 7:48Speaker 4: people are still.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Oh, keeping you off.
- 7:50Speaker 3: Interesting.
- 7:50Speaker 2: I don't know what it is.
- 7:52Speaker 1: You're a junkie loser, and you're giving me the finger
- 7:55Speaker 1: for driving this truck. Ye live in the bushes?
- 7:59Speaker 2: How can you flip me off because of what I
- 8:01Speaker 2: choose to drive?
- 8:04Speaker 1: Yeh Wow, you're looked down upon by people who live
- 8:08Speaker 1: in shrubs.
- 8:09Speaker 2: My son was so confused about that, and he was
- 8:11Speaker 2: really close to our car, so it was kind of
- 8:13Speaker 2: st bearded and crazy brown teeth, flipping me off with
- 8:17Speaker 2: both barrels.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Wow, this psychology of that is so interesting. But so
- 8:24Speaker 1: what happens with these cars evidently is if the gas
- 8:27Speaker 1: pump malfunctions and spills gas, the fan can blow it
- 8:37Speaker 1: onto the hot engine in rare you know incidents. But
- 8:45Speaker 1: you've got to have a defective pump.
- 8:50Speaker 2: But then you come out in your cool corvette is
- 8:52Speaker 2: with your too young for your girlfriend. It's burnt to
- 8:54Speaker 2: the ground. She's standing there looking at the smoldering.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Chassis right, looks at you with your mustache, and says,
- 9:02Speaker 1: what do we do now?
- 9:03Speaker 2: She decides to walk over. She watched, So I just
- 9:06Speaker 2: walk over and find another paunched, bald, older man to
- 9:11Speaker 2: get with.
- 9:12Speaker 1: The mustached exactly. Well, I hope your car doesn't burn
- 9:17Speaker 1: to the ground.
- 9:17Speaker 2: Yeah that's a drag, yep. But so they're not discontuning that,
- 9:21Speaker 2: they're going to redo it.
- 9:23Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:23Speaker 2: The only thing is I mean, I really I think
- 9:25Speaker 2: the new Corvettes are really cool, but they don't look
- 9:27Speaker 2: like a Corvette. Every time I see one from far away,
- 9:29Speaker 2: I think, is that a Ferrari? Is that a Lamborghini?
- 9:31Speaker 2: Oh no, it's one of the new Corvettes. They went
- 9:33Speaker 2: with a really euro look to it, which always had
- 9:36Speaker 2: just that very They all look like corvettes over the years.
- 9:41Speaker 1: You know, I've got another speedy car right now, but
- 9:44Speaker 1: it's netsuv. Actually it's ridiculous. But if you really want
- 9:49Speaker 1: a rocket sledge, you gotta go electric.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Oh yeah, there's no comparison between electric and anything else.
- 9:55Speaker 2: But it doesn't have this cool sound though, right, You
- 9:58Speaker 2: really miss that?
- 9:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I do have a pretty cool exhaust. No chicks,
- 10:01Speaker 1: digg it? I think I wouldn't know, because don't. I
- 10:04Speaker 1: don't talk to any women, but they're not very hot anyway.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Probably a lesbian who.
- 10:10Speaker 2: Else flipped me off the other day had to this weekend.
- 10:16Speaker 2: He was a college age woman. Shocking, but I was
- 10:19Speaker 2: thinking about this after the Charlie Kirk assassination. Let's not
- 10:22Speaker 2: get dark here on the podcast. But the guy, the
- 10:26Speaker 2: angriest person who ever flipped me off. I'm pulling into
- 10:29Speaker 2: the grocery store, this guy pulling out in like a
- 10:31Speaker 2: nine hundred dollars bondoed car. Yeah, just both hands done.
- 10:35Speaker 2: Any's screaming, fuck you, fuck you. I mean he was
- 10:39Speaker 2: just so angry, like he wanted to fight me. And
- 10:43Speaker 2: I thought this is insane.
- 10:46Speaker 4: Ye while he has that Coexist bumper sticker on the
- 10:48Speaker 4: back of his car right right.
- 10:51Speaker 2: I mean your body language and bright red face would
- 10:56Speaker 2: indicate you want me to suffer physical harm. It's murderous rage. Yeah,
- 11:02Speaker 2: certainly violent rage over the car I choose to drive
- 11:07Speaker 2: because you associated to some politics. That's crazy.
- 11:11Speaker 1: Yeah, you really are unhinged.
- 11:13Speaker 2: Yeah we need we need less of that. Has there
- 11:16Speaker 2: ever been a car that's had that kind of anger
- 11:18Speaker 2: at it? No, there's never anything even close. Not even close.
- 11:23Speaker 1: I wouldn't think so.
- 11:25Speaker 2: I mean, I might mock a pt cruiser, but I'm
- 11:27Speaker 2: not gonna scream you.
- 11:28Speaker 3: I had so much fun mocking piece.
- 11:31Speaker 1: It's a fine retro looking vehicle.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Try to get any action in one of those. You
- 11:38Speaker 2: let me know how that go.
- 11:39Speaker 3: Yeah, good luck.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Well, I guess that's it.
