- 1:39Hail to you all indeed, and welcome back.
- 1:44To the red meat and bramley's podcast.
- 1:45It's been a minute. It's been a hot minute.
- 1:49It's been a very hot minute because we are in the middle of
- 1:51a very hot summer here in the northern hemisphere.
- 1:56At least in this part of the northern hemisphere in Middle,
- 1:58Tennessee. A good to be back here guys
- 2:03broadcasting and streaming and doing.
- 2:05You know what, I usually do every week here on the random
- 2:09Heathen ramblings podcast, Had a little bit of a hiccup in terms
- 2:14of what this week's show was going to be in terms of guests
- 2:19and participants and all that kind of fun stuff.
- 2:22But you know what that means for you, that means for you that you
- 2:27have just me this week. But you also have an awesome
- 2:30guests lined up for you in the coming week and in the coming
- 2:33weeks, as a matter of fact, we're going International in the
- 2:38middle half of 20:22, you know, the last podcast we had guests
- 2:46from Australia, not this week, of course but next week we
- 2:52should hopefully have a guest in Canada joining us and then
- 2:57sometime around the beginning of August or so, we should have
- 3:00someone joining us from the United Kingdom UK.
- 3:05Yes! That is a fact.
- 3:07You can take that to the bank cash.
- 3:10It the Do whatever you want with it, but that's not this week.
- 3:15This week is just going to be you and me.
- 3:19So let's go ahead and just light some incense real quick and let
- 3:23me give you an update on things. Things going on here in about
- 3:32here lately. Got some mugwort and I'm not
- 3:37exactly sure what the other one is.
- 3:38But it's it's a it's a dual stick situation.
- 3:43Okay. Dual instant situation going on
- 3:48here. A lot of A lot of healing going
- 3:54on here now in today. So I did want to talk about, you
- 3:58know, I was absent for last week's podcast and I want to
- 4:01thank you all. Thank you all for your, you
- 4:04know, understanding of the situation.
- 4:07I've II fell ill with the covid virus and so, did my wife, you
- 4:15know. So there was a lot of focus and
- 4:17attention put on the Hearth and Home which is I've always spoken
- 4:22about My podcasts and videos is that, that is where Heathen re
- 4:28the heart of heathen re lies in the Hearth, you know, and making
- 4:36sure that Hearth and Home is taken care of first and
- 4:40foremost, but everything else and that can sometimes present
- 4:45challenges with what we want to try and do in our Heathen
- 4:49communities. And, and then such because some
- 4:52so Many of us. So many people are yearning for
- 4:56community, and our yearning for camaraderie.
- 4:59And having, you know, people of like minds or similar thoughts.
- 5:05You know, people who share in the same ideals and whatnot as
- 5:09us be a part of our as it were family units.
- 5:18And I have to wonder. If that times the, the failure
- 5:25of creating such things and if the failure of establishing such
- 5:29things Rose, you know, the failure of which lies in our own
- 5:36failures. And focusing on the Hearth and
- 5:41Home. You know, because what I see a
- 5:44lot of times is people pushing for Community, pushing for
- 5:50kindred's, pushing for tribes, pushing for communal, Assemblies
- 5:58of people who they think are. You know, or have similar
- 6:05worldviews, and there's not a lot of vetting.
- 6:10There's not a lot of Focus on, you know, the home the Hearth,
- 6:16where things originated from. And so the push to create or
- 6:25establish a familial unit, whether it be tribe, Kindred,
- 6:29whatever you want to call it outside of the Inner Circle and
- 6:35outside of the roof tree outside of that family unit, trying to
- 6:41establish something. Outside of that fails because
- 6:45the Hearth and Home are damaged. And then there is no heart or
- 6:49home, right there. There's nothing that can be
- 6:52rightly established as being such.
- 6:57And so we lean or we see people leaning more towards the online
- 7:01community, right? We see people more focused on
- 7:11becoming part of an online or virtual family community virtual
- 7:18Kindred virtual tribe that sort of thing.
- 7:21And whether it be, you know, Facebook, communities, Facebook
- 7:29groups, Facebook pages, Discord servers, you know, that sort of
- 7:36thing. And people YouTube channels,
- 7:43even I mean, you know, just you name it.
- 7:45Whatever that virtual community. establishment might be, you
- 7:55know, we see Recreations or Versions of family popping up in
- 8:08so many ways, right? You listen to this ban, do you
- 8:11like this song? Oh, you like this?
- 8:14You know, sort of artistry, this sort of, you know, you know,
- 8:23style this this this artistic view this you know, just various
- 8:30things that that Maybe touch on. Certain aspects of an ancient
- 8:39archaic lifestyle things that appeal to the masses.
- 8:44Right there. There's a lot of things going on
- 8:48in. Pop culture.
- 8:53Now in today, right? I'm talking Beyond just the
- 8:56Marvel MCU, you know, talking beyond the hole for a node and
- 9:04aesthetic. I'm talking about things like
- 9:07the northmen, you know talking about things like last Kingdom.
- 9:13Talking about other multimedia Productions, where they're be
- 9:18Hollywood, whether it be other, smaller, Production Studios,
- 9:21whether it be, whatever it is, you know, things that are
- 9:26appealing to the northern European or dramatic aesthetic,
- 9:34you know, It's in the Forefront ladies and gentlemen, it's very
- 9:40loud and it's very dominant and its prominent in pop culture
- 9:45these days. and so the prominence or the dominance of
- 9:53that aesthetic, seems to draw the attention.
- 10:02Of certain individuals certain crowds, right?
- 10:07Certain people that think. That.
- 10:15This can be. Established cultivated grown.
- 10:25Just online. And it can't be.
- 10:34It simply can't be. This insurgents or increase in
- 10:44interest as it were of I'm going to use air quotes, right?
- 10:50The old ways. Foreign saved out to do,
- 10:55whatever you want to turn whatever term you want to put to
- 11:01this sort of thing, you know. It's a I guess it's been here
- 11:09for a long time. You know, whether it be through
- 11:13that, you know, the History Channel's Vikings, whether it be
- 11:16through Amon Amarth You know, they were putting out a lot of
- 11:21new material lately. So wound that one of their
- 11:23newest songs, that's titled, the great Heathen Army, you know.
- 11:29There's this. I don't know, man.
- 11:34Like there always seems to be this breath.
- 11:42You know, how you breathe into Embers and you can he Breathe
- 11:45new life? We breathe life into seemingly
- 11:49dying Embers. Right there.
- 11:50There's there seems to be this constant, insurgents Resurgence.
- 11:54I don't know that, you know, the northern European Indo-European.
- 12:02Perhaps indigenous Pagan practices that have just I don't
- 12:08know, man. Like I can't really speak to the
- 12:12to the, to the interest that it that it Rose like in the 90s and
- 12:15stuff because I really wasn't a part of that but like the
- 12:18mid-to-late 2000s and here we are now, you know, like There's
- 12:26this. Constant.
- 12:31Stoking of the coals to keep things relevant with northern
- 12:37European Germanic whatever paganism.
- 12:42Polytheism. and I think there's, you know, I think that there is
- 12:48a place where I think that there's Value to be.
- 12:55Considered with that whole thing.
- 13:00But the focus seems to be simply on the surface.
- 13:03It seems to be simply on the aesthetic of it.
- 13:07And if I were to sit here and say that, like, look, do I dress
- 13:12like this all the time? Do I do, I go out into public in
- 13:16a hooded, you know, Ensemble with the tunic and, and all this
- 13:20kind of stuff. Absolutely.
- 13:22Not like, this is just for the podcast.
- 13:24This is For what I do here on this on this platform and other
- 13:30platforms, you know what, you see.
- 13:33Here in this moment is to capture.
- 13:39The attention of a certain audience.
- 13:41It is right. I live a very specific way and I
- 13:46exist in a very specific way. That transcends what you see on
- 13:51the surface but what you see on the surface is a part of me,
- 13:56right? The ritual theater.
- 14:01The. You know, adorning ourselves and
- 14:08creating an atmosphere for ourselves to embrace and
- 14:12Encompass. The thing that we maybe are
- 14:18closely closely drawn to Right. This is part of it.
- 14:30And I've been condemned, I've been chastised.
- 14:35I've been ridiculed. I've been thought less of for
- 14:40the aesthetic. I'm sure a lot of us have, you
- 14:44know, but the aesthetic is very simply put the surface of it all
- 14:55it is a surface of it. All this is not a requirement,
- 14:57this is not mandatory, this is not what you should be doing
- 15:00necessarily To embrace the spirituality to embrace the path
- 15:07or whatever, it's maybe a something that you're going to
- 15:11reach, maybe it's something that you're going to achieve, maybe
- 15:14something you're going to arrive to at a certain point.
- 15:19But it's not mandatory, I am who I am and I Heathen the way I
- 15:24hear him. I am a pagan in the way that I
- 15:27Pagan, all right? Just like many people.
- 15:32Observe their religious practices in their own way in
- 15:36their own individual way. I am just one person.
- 15:41I'm just one man. I am just one individual.
- 15:43I am one sentient. Living being that coexists.
- 15:47Amongst other sentient living beings?
- 15:50And this is a part of me as a part of who I am.
- 15:55And this is a part of how I wish to be seen.
- 15:59It is not all of me. It is a part of me.
- 16:02There are other parts of me that you will never see that.
- 16:06Least not on this platform. At least not in this way.
- 16:12Right. And that should be understood
- 16:15in. That should be respected. the
- 16:20whole Viking thing, you know, like that's been something that
- 16:25has been romanticized over-romanticized celebrated
- 16:31without any real understanding of what that is, you know.
- 16:38Who are the Vikings? They were farmers.
- 16:46They were Fair years. They were.
- 16:53Smith's blacksmiths bladesmiths. They were the common Folk.
- 17:05And they lived during a Time. during history, when You had to
- 17:15do whatever it took. You had to Consider whatever
- 17:23means necessary to survive to give your family, something
- 17:28better. And at that time, those things
- 17:32meant pillaging meant rating, men.
- 17:37Invading it meant taking things that weren't yours of
- 17:42Birthright. You don't live in those times
- 17:48now. we don't exist in a time of raiding and pillaging.
- 17:57You know. but because of that because of that being something
- 18:04that was keyed in on, The Viking age, right?
- 18:12Goes down in the annals of history as being a time of, you
- 18:16know, Heroes. You know, much of the sagas, the
- 18:23Icelandic sagas and the Norwegian sagas, many of the
- 18:25sagas that were written that we have.
- 18:30Documented you no recollection of happened during a time in
- 18:37history called The Viking age. It was a tumultuous time.
- 18:44It was a time when the beliefs of the indigenous people.
- 18:49Of Northern Europe were being eradicated, sometimes very
- 18:54violently. To be replaced by the
- 19:00globalization. The global dominance.
- 19:10Of the judaic Christian religion.
- 19:17And you know, I grew up as Christian and I grew up with a
- 19:24Christian worldview, a non-denominational Denomination
- 19:29denomination. Denominational.
- 19:31Christian worldview. It was a very unique thing in
- 19:37that, you know, I grew up in a closed-off, you know, society.
- 19:47That was very tribal inherently tribal, you know, take care of
- 19:52your own. The outside world is the outside
- 19:56world. You you take care of what is
- 19:57within, you know. and, Religious views aside. so much of what I
- 20:09feel is valuable now, and today, and even modern culture today,
- 20:15touches on the things that I was brought up in religion, aside,
- 20:20because, quite frankly, there were there, were, there were
- 20:23things about the religious teachings that I was brought up
- 20:28in that, just don't check out for me.
- 20:31Yeah, it's largely why I'm pagan.
- 20:36It is 100%. The reason why I no longer have
- 20:39dealings with my blood kin. all of my family, all of the people
- 20:47who I consider family now in today, Are of no birth blood kin
- 20:57to me. They are kith.
- 21:03They are that extended family. There are that extended family
- 21:07unit, people who have proved themselves worthy to me to be
- 21:12called. A title of familial Bond.
- 21:19You know. and having just gone through a very recent, you know,
- 21:26Health crisis as it were, you know, I tested positive for
- 21:35covid last week. No, we was two weeks ago
- 21:39actually now my wife tested positive for covid.
- 21:44Just this last week. We're here.
- 21:47We're alive were recovered, you know.
- 21:52But having gone through that. Having gone through that, you
- 21:59know, Health crisis, you know, my wife being someone who is
- 22:02immunocompromised, having prior medical conditions that the
- 22:06covid virus, could, you know, add two problems on, you know,
- 22:12myself being someone of relatively strong background.
- 22:16I have no prior health conditions, you know, II made it
- 22:18through. The the the Omicron variant
- 22:23relatively unscathed, you know yes there was a day or two where
- 22:26I was you know, in fits of you know fever dreams and visions
- 22:32and things like that that we're just, you know alarming but you
- 22:35know to be honest I my ass has been kicked harder with the
- 22:38common cold than it was with the omikron variant of the covid-19
- 22:43virus. My wife on the other hand you
- 22:47know had some pretty substantial health.
- 22:50Concerns and you know we got them checked out.
- 22:52Fortunately she is clear of any other major health concerns, you
- 22:56know, all her x-rays, all the her you know heart scans and all
- 22:59those types of things that were done.
- 23:02Proved to be clear. So you know thank the gods and
- 23:05ancestors for that. but one of the things that, you know,
- 23:10having gone through something like that was the people who
- 23:13checked in the people who care, the people who were Close while
- 23:18being distant, you know, checking in sending a message,
- 23:22sending a text and then whatever we're not blood kin.
- 23:28To me. you know, when it goes back to this hole, Thing that I
- 23:37that I constantly see about, you know, tribe and kinship and
- 23:42kindred's and uneo having these these, these familial units
- 23:47build out of seemingly, nothing. You know, this this desire.
- 23:55Amongst people. To have a clan to have a unit to
- 24:00have a community to connect with.
- 24:10I wouldn't have what I have now. If it weren't for already
- 24:14establishing a strong familial unit, whether it be through
- 24:18adoption, whether it be through marriage, whether it be through
- 24:20blood, whatever there has to be that, you know, folks that are
- 24:24has to be that family unit. at least so far as I've been able
- 24:32to ascertain, you know, the family unit that I have exists
- 24:42outside of blood kinship, because those who are blood to
- 24:47me and that our blood, you know, whose blood I come from, have
- 24:53shown themselves to be less than honorable, and less than I guess
- 25:08they don't know. They consider me outside of
- 25:10their family and outside of their family unit and outside of
- 25:13their roof-tree, you know, outside of their Hearth cult
- 25:17because of my religious practice.
- 25:19Because of the way that I again on the surface appear at times
- 25:24what you see It's only partially what you get.
- 25:31I don't walk around looking like this.
- 25:33I don't walk around and face painting.
- 25:35Don't walk around. In an altered state of
- 25:40consciousness. 90 some odd percent of the time.
- 25:45I'm coherent. I am connecting to the life that
- 25:51exists around me in the ways that it does.
- 25:56You know, and if people can't see past that if people want to
- 26:01assume that this is some sort of facade, but this is some sort of
- 26:07a possession that this is some sort of a, you know, fake
- 26:12representation of who I am and what I'm about.
- 26:17Then they fail to. Understand the assignment they
- 26:22fail to connect with other living forces.
- 26:28That are around them. You know.
- 26:37This this podcast is a bit different than other podcasts in
- 26:43the sense that I am speaking to the void, the void includes some
- 26:48of you that are watching and listening now and today you
- 26:52missed the podcast for last week because I was taking time to
- 26:57heal. I was taking time to focus on my
- 27:00Hearth and Home and I was taking time to withdraw myself from the
- 27:04outer and focus on the inner. That is necessary, that is
- 27:12absolutely necessary at times to focus on the inner. and even
- 27:19during my focus on the inner, I was able to understand and know
- 27:24that healing. True, healing does not happen in
- 27:31isolation. There are parts of isolation
- 27:35that are required to start the healing process, but the healing
- 27:38process occurs and happens. During movement.
- 27:46The river. Backs up. when it is, Damned
- 27:55trees and plants are choked out when they are not given enough
- 28:00soil and enough nutrients to grow Within we are choked out,
- 28:07we die. In isolation my friends.
- 28:14You may consider yourself a solitary practitioner, but I do
- 28:19not believe that you as a solitary practitioner withdraw
- 28:24yourself entirely from any sort of life.
- 28:28You may be solitary, maybe alone.
- 28:30You may be by yourself, but you are connecting to some sort of
- 28:33Life Force around you. Whether it be the trees, the
- 28:37Rocks, the air, the water, there is some sort of life around you
- 28:41that you are tapping into because otherwise my friend, you
- 28:44die, Become stagnant, you become moldy, you become dead.
- 28:52You wither you rot in isolation. And if that is where you choose
- 29:00to stay, that is where you choose to remain.
- 29:05In that Darkness. You will lose life.
- 29:13You will only grow so far. You will only heal so much.
- 29:22At some point, my friends you need to break out of that
- 29:25isolation. At some point you need to
- 29:27recognize the life that is abundant around you and if you
- 29:32don't tap into that, if you don't reconnect with that, if
- 29:38you thrust yourself. Into that seeming.
- 29:47Lee cozy, Cocoon of isolation. You will die.
- 29:57Think of that. The caterpillar, you know, has
- 30:01to isolate has to go within that cocoon state.
- 30:06There's 100% isolation and separation from the world
- 30:11around. But at some point they break
- 30:13free, they break free to become the thing.
- 30:18To become that new life form. At the world around them
- 30:25understands, and knows as that. He is who she or he is.
- 30:41So many people. Thank that isolation.
- 30:45Solitary practitioners. The Soleus, right?
- 30:54So many people think that that's where it ends.
- 30:58I can't find anybody else. I don't trust anybody else.
- 31:03Yeah, I get it. You're only going to grow so
- 31:08far, you're only going to reach a certain stage.
- 31:15You know, classic example. I broke out of my isolation as
- 31:22it were by going out and becoming present in the public.
- 31:30That insertion into the public space resulted in me.
- 31:38Picking up the covid-19 Omicron Burien.
- 31:42It did, I went to a show. I went to a concert with my
- 31:46cousin. My wife's cousin, who needed,
- 31:50Camaraderie, who needed friendship.
- 31:53I stepped out and I went to a show and then, you know, three
- 31:57days later, I'm running, 100 degree fever, wearing a hoodie
- 32:02in, you know, 100 degree temperatures.
- 32:10Sometimes. Okay, and this is just me
- 32:15speaking here, sometimes being exposed.
- 32:20To those things being exposed to that.
- 32:27Darkness being exposed to that. Element.
- 32:35Is the necessary thing that pushes us into a new layer, a
- 32:39new stage of growth. Hey.
- 32:47My intentions, my purpose of going about was not for me I
- 32:52could have cared less about the show that I went to.
- 32:56I don't listen to that kind of music.
- 32:57I went because someone near and dear to my heart was in need.
- 33:06They wanted that camaraderie and I went outside of my comfort
- 33:10zone to be that Source of camaraderie and it was a great
- 33:16experience. So what if a few days later, I
- 33:19feel sick. It was a learning opportunity.
- 33:24It was a learning experience and I took the experience, I took
- 33:28the encounter, I took what happened to me, and I made the
- 33:33most out of it that I possibly could, I rested.
- 33:36I knew, you know, nurtured myself, and I touched the bare
- 33:41Earth with my bare skin, I absorbed the bright life-giving
- 33:47nutrients of the Sun and to my eyes and my face and my skin, I
- 33:50went outside of my comfort zone during my most Uncomfortable
- 33:53moments. And I connected with what is
- 33:58most Primal and what is most sacred to me, the Earth, the
- 34:02sky, the wind, the air, the sun, all of that.
- 34:10And did it help me? Heal faster I could say it did
- 34:13I'm not a medical professional and I wouldn't recommend what I
- 34:15did to anybody else that I know because it worked for me, but
- 34:21I'm not a medical professional, right?
- 34:23I don't sit here on any sort of pedestal and say that you should
- 34:27do the same thing. You get sick.
- 34:28Go out and stand out there and hunt degree heat and put your

- 34:51To allow the, the nutrient-rich. Spirits around us Earth, the
- 35:01water, the air the fire. All of these things.
- 35:09All of these things that our ancient ancestors knew, and
- 35:11understood. How you reconnect?
- 35:14How you re-establish a connection in that way?
- 35:19Is going to establish you. It's going to to to solidify you
- 35:25in things that you want to do for the people around you. if
- 35:30you are not prepared, if you're not ready, To protect and grow

- 37:28edges and then there's what happens in the middle.
- 37:34If you set the boundaries, if you set the edges, it's time to
- 37:37focus on The Middle. But that middle is building the
- 37:42bigger picture, it's not where it ends.
