Today on more organized less clutter, I'll be sharing how a simple tool, the FITS app, can help you simplify getting dressed, solve that daily decision dilemma, and also reduce decision fatigue and maximize your wardrobe. Let's jump into this more organized, less clutter. Podcast episode. Today on more organized less clutter. I want to talk about something many of us face every day: that dread of outfit decisions. So what are you going to wear? If you've ever stood in front of your wardrobe full of clothes and still felt like you had nothing to wear, or if decision making about clothes feels overwhelming like it does for me, you're and you're also maybe neurodivergent or juggling a busy life, this episode is going to be really useful. I am going to share with you an app that actually a client of mine shared with me. And I'm so grateful for it because it's really opened my eyes to how this can actually help benefit and solve that daily outfit dilemma using this amazing simple tool. It's called the FITS app. Now, this is not a paid sponsorship or anything. It's just one that I was recommended and I started using. There may be other ones out there that do a similar thing. But this is the one I am talking about today. So wardrobe decisions for many people, it's like causes decision fatigue. When you've got to make those decisions about what to wear, what to eat, what to do next, those all add up and then create that decision fatigue. This is just going to give us more capacity to make decisions about things that are really important, maybe like what school your child's going to go to, or or navigating your week of work and juggling kids as well. All of this clutter and disorganization in your wardrobe and the overwhelm can stop you from reaching for other items in your wardrobe because you just go to the ones that are easy, simple, that you know work well. And you might have a wardrobe full of outfits, but you'll just go to those ones that you know work. For neurodivergent folk, these challenges can be even more intense because of executive functioning. So this is when you need to look at starting tasks. planning and organizing, which obviously in a wardrobe, all those add up and it can be then really hard. And then you can add in sensory sensitivities that can make certain fabrics really uncomfortable and just add another layer to the whole challenge. So when your wardrobe is really cluttered or your outfits aren't maybe organized or categorized and it's just mixed together, this daily decision making becomes really stressful. And it can affect your mood, your confidence. And even the energy you have for the rest of the day. So the Fits app is going to help you. I'm going to share a few benefits that it's going to help you with. It's a digital virtual version of your wardrobe. So you're going to be uploading photos of your clothes. This means that you can then mix and match pieces virtually, so on your phone, to plan your outfits ahead of time. And this will actually dramatically lower decision fatigue. And this is based on my own experience. If you're a visual person like me, that whole visual planning is going to be really easy. You're going to be able to see your clothes as images rather than items hanging and you need to make the outfit choices. So you can actually see them on the on the screen and move them around and see what's going to work. And it's a little bit more enjoyable. Then there's also like a tagging system in the Fitz app. So you can tag pieces of clothing or the style or the season, which means that searching for the right item is quick and stress free, especially if you have a big wardrobe. You can also look at your outfit history so it can track what you've worn and you don't then accidentally repeat the same look too often. You can put in information about where you purchased it, the cost that you actually paid for it, and what the date was or rough. date of when you purchased it. And then it's going to work out a cost per wear for you. And I loved that part of it, the app, showing when I've bought something that it is really a great smarter wardrobe investment. So if you're like a little bit hesitant about buying, say, a good quality pair of pants, this might help you by seeing how many times you wear them and how much you've invested That it comes down quite quickly into a cost per wear that it's not actually costing that much. Like a nice jacket is another great one to sort of track your cost per wear. So to maximize your wardrobe, you don't need a huge wardrobe or to buy new clothes. I found this app helps me to get the most out of what I already own. All of the accessories I found. It's definitely helped me to actually use them because I see them now and I can put them with the outfit and it reminds me then to add that accessory. It means that your outfit collections can be saved and it could be like special occasions or weekend wear, holidays. It can then make packing for a holiday really easy or just a weekend away. The other week I used it myself. So I put in the weather. It actually generated from my pictures of the actual clothing I own, it made some suggestions of outfits. And then I saved that outfit into my collection. And once I chose the outfits I wanted for the weekend, it then generated a packing list for me, which was so handy because this is when I forget the small things when I am going away because I don't see it. The final benefit Is gamification. So I've talked about gamification so many times on the podcast. It's how you use an app or do anything and you're turning this into a fun creative activity instead of just a daily task. So by gamifying it and using the app, it means that maybe dressing is a little bit more fun, which is definitely something that I have found from using it. I'm sure some of you are like There's no way I'm going to take photos of all my clothes. But this may be a way of actually consolidating decluttering your wardrobe is once you've got it down to the items you like, it actually doesn't take that long to take photos. My first thought was this is gonna take too long. There's no way. And I don't even have a huge wardrobe. But it actually didn't take that long. And it was quite fun and it did help me to declutter my wardrobe. Take 10 minutes and pull out Any items you haven't worn in the last year and that maybe don't fit very well and don't bring joy and create three boxes. So you're going to have your keep, maybe your donate as sell. If people are struggling when I'm working with clients, we will have a maybe pile. And if you're unsure about something, then use that maybe pile and you can then revisit it later. Because remember, less clutter means clearer choices. And then your second step is to photograph your clothing. So you actually put it on the ground as a flat lay, take the photo, and it can enhance the photo for you as well. It can even find that photo of that item online and use that instead. And also include all your accessories like belts, jewelry, shoes, and like undergarments, bras, bodysuits, and then add all of that into the fits app. And then the third step is to use the Fits app to create outfits. So you create some outfits and save them. And then from that, it will actually suggest to you some outfits. And you can save those into your favorites, into collections for different events or even seasons. I actually have a winter and a summer weekend collections. And so those items are saved in there. So you don't need to buy new clothes or spend hours organizing to feel good dressing each day. The Fitz app is such a great tool to help you get dressed and make it fun and not feel stressful or like another job. Thanks for tuning in to more organized less clutter. If you try the FITS app or any other of these tips, I'd love to hear from you how it goes. You can reach out and share your experience on social media or just send me an email.
