- 0:02Speaker 1: This is Teddy tea pod with Teddy Mill and Cabin.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Hi guys, welcome to this week's Teddy Teapot. I am
- 0:13Speaker 1: so happy to have you here. We are going to
- 0:16Speaker 1: talk about so many things this week. We are going
- 0:18Speaker 1: to mom so hard. But first we're gonna talk a
- 0:21Speaker 1: little thing called periods. I'm going to bring on Lauren
- 0:25Speaker 1: Shelti Wong, who launched the Flex Company in two thousand
- 0:29Speaker 1: and sixteen, because I need to fully understand how to
- 0:34Speaker 1: make this transition. Hi, Lauren, how are you doing great?
- 0:39Speaker 1: How are you good? So welcome. Lauren. She started Flex
- 0:42Speaker 1: back in two thousand and sixteen. Can you tell us
- 0:44Speaker 1: what inspired you to start this company and exactly kind
- 0:48Speaker 1: of what it is. Yeah. I started Flex because I
- 0:52Speaker 1: was getting infections from traditional period products, so I have
- 0:56Speaker 1: a week out of every month on my period, following
- 0:59Speaker 1: with the week out of every month with a yeast infection.
- 1:02Speaker 1: And I went on this multi year quest to try
- 1:04Speaker 1: different period products from all over the world and I
- 1:06Speaker 1: really couldn't find anything that met my need. So our
- 1:09Speaker 1: first product that we came out with is the Flex Disc,
- 1:12Speaker 1: which is the only single use period product that can
- 1:15Speaker 1: be worn for up to twelve hours. So is there
- 1:20Speaker 1: any kind of how to that people can learn how
- 1:24Speaker 1: to use it? Because I have to be honest. I
- 1:27Speaker 1: when I was younger, I actually got toxic shock from tampons,
- 1:32Speaker 1: ended up in the hospital, and I didn't know what
- 1:35Speaker 1: was wrong with me. It took a long time to
- 1:36Speaker 1: figure it out. I got a severe, severe infection. And
- 1:39Speaker 1: I'm worried about how to teach my daughter how to
- 1:42Speaker 1: use products. But I don't know how to how I
- 1:45Speaker 1: would explain to her how to use the flag, you
- 1:47Speaker 1: know what I mean? So how do you explain? Yeah? Well,
- 1:49Speaker 1: first of all, I'm so glad to hear that you're okay.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Toxic shock is super scary and very serious. Um. The
- 1:54Speaker 1: flex disc is the only period product that has not
- 1:57Speaker 1: been linked to TSS, and we've made millions of products
- 2:01Speaker 1: to date, so rest assured. You can wear it for
- 2:04Speaker 1: up to twelve hours. UM. We have directions on YouTube
- 2:07Speaker 1: on our website flex fits dot com. It's very simple.
- 2:10Speaker 1: It's as easy to insert and remove as a tampon.
- 2:13Speaker 1: But like anything new, I think it takes a little
- 2:15Speaker 1: bit of practice. Um. It's shaped like a disk and
- 2:18Speaker 1: it fits around your service, so it actually leaves your
- 2:22Speaker 1: vaginal canal clear during our period, which means that you
- 2:26Speaker 1: can't feel the product while you're wearing it. And one
- 2:29Speaker 1: of the most common things that people say to us
- 2:31Speaker 1: is they forget that they're on their period when they're
- 2:33Speaker 1: using it. Because you put in at the beginning of
- 2:36Speaker 1: the day, you go about your day. It empties itself
- 2:39Speaker 1: when you use the bathroom, so you don't have to
- 2:41Speaker 1: pull it out and rinse it out. UM and it
- 2:43Speaker 1: holds the capacity of up to three super tampons. That
- 2:48Speaker 1: is incredible. So how did you come up with this? So?
- 2:52Speaker 1: I came up with this UM with working with a
- 2:56Speaker 1: team of people, Like we are not the original creators
- 3:00Speaker 1: of the disk design, but we iterated on this design.
- 3:03Speaker 1: UM that's been around for the last twenty years and
- 3:07Speaker 1: it's really similar to a diaphragm, but the difference is
- 3:11Speaker 1: UM it is not used for contraception periods, so so
- 3:16Speaker 1: don't use it for contraception UM and it is disposable,
- 3:20Speaker 1: not reusable. Well, I think this is an incredible you
- 3:23Speaker 1: know thing for so many of us women, for so
- 3:26Speaker 1: many girls, and I appreciate you coming on to educate us.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Where can people learn more purchase flex Please? Give us
- 3:34Speaker 1: all the information and find you to ask you more questions. Yeah,
- 3:37Speaker 1: you can find us on Instagram at flex or you
- 3:41Speaker 1: can find us on our website flex fits dot com.
- 3:44Speaker 1: You can also find us at Target, CVS, Walgreens, bright Aid, Um,
- 3:49Speaker 1: pretty much most retailers in the US, but flex fits
- 3:52Speaker 1: dot com if you're curious to watch some videos and
- 3:55Speaker 1: get a better understanding of how it works. I love it.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Thank you so much for joining us. Yeah, thanks so
- 4:02Speaker 1: much for having me. Oh my gosh, no worries. I
- 4:04Speaker 1: appreciate you coming on. I think this is so huge
- 4:07Speaker 1: and such a game changer. Oh, I appreciate that. I
- 4:11Speaker 1: mean the claim to fame for the product is really
- 4:13Speaker 1: like mess free period sex, and I think, um, a
- 4:17Speaker 1: lot of people don't realize that I'm bisexual. So when
- 4:20Speaker 1: people think about mess free period sex are strictly thinking
- 4:23Speaker 1: about penetrated sex, which is definitely true. But if you're
- 4:25Speaker 1: two women on your period, you know, and you have
- 4:29Speaker 1: a different period week from each other. Hold on, I
- 4:32Speaker 1: didn't realize this is you could do this and have
- 4:34Speaker 1: mess free sex. Yeah, you can use our product from
- 4:37Speaker 1: mess free period sex, whether oral or penetrative. So um,
- 4:41Speaker 1: you don't have to be heterosexual. Do you enjoy mess
- 4:44Speaker 1: free period sex? But because your vaginal canal is open
- 4:47Speaker 1: and free, you can have penetrated sex or oral sex
- 4:50Speaker 1: with it in and it helps block out the odor
- 4:54Speaker 1: um and leaking which a lot of people are worried
- 4:56Speaker 1: about during their period. That I mean because I mean
- 5:00Speaker 1: don't know if this is the right thing to do.
- 5:01Speaker 1: But I was the type of person that when I
- 5:03Speaker 1: would go on vacation, I would like skip like I
- 5:05Speaker 1: would skip my sugar pills so that then I would
- 5:08Speaker 1: have like I wouldn't be on my period. Why I
- 5:10Speaker 1: was on vacation because I didn't want to have to
- 5:12Speaker 1: like have sex on my period. But you can with this,
- 5:16Speaker 1: you can, And I will tell you I got my
- 5:18Speaker 1: period on my wedding day, and so I was on
- 5:21Speaker 1: my period and my honeymoon in Brazil, and I wore
- 5:25Speaker 1: a white thong, I wore a bikini. I did all
- 5:28Speaker 1: of the things on my wedding and honeymoon, but I
- 5:31Speaker 1: was I was wearing flex disk and it was a
- 5:33Speaker 1: complete lifesaver to me. Well, you're about to change a
- 5:36Speaker 1: lot of other people's lives. Thank you so much for
- 5:39Speaker 1: coming on, Teddy Teapot and we will make sure they
- 5:41Speaker 1: find you at all of the places that you mentioned before. Awesome,
- 5:44Speaker 1: Thank you, Sudding, Thanks so much, Mouren. Let me tell

- 8:18Speaker 1: Let's bring these ladies on and grill. I'm shall we Hello? Hello?
- 8:25Speaker 1: So thanks you guys for joining Teddy Teapot. We got
- 8:28Speaker 1: a lot of questions that came in and I think
- 8:31Speaker 1: what so many people relate to you guys about is that,
- 8:34Speaker 1: like nothing's off off limits with y'all, no for I
- 8:37Speaker 1: mean that's the question. Is there anything that's off limits?
- 8:41Speaker 1: Just the stuff that nobody wants to hear about, like politics,
- 8:44Speaker 1: We don't ever talk about that kind of thing. You
- 8:47Speaker 1: know what I'm with you on that. It's just there's
- 8:50Speaker 1: too much of it already that all that really brings
- 8:53Speaker 1: is like hate. Yes, yes, we got a dose so
- 8:58Speaker 1: that and we're done with it. And how would you
- 9:02Speaker 1: describe each other as moms? And how would you describe yourselves?
- 9:10Speaker 1: That's a good question. I'll go first. Um. I think
- 9:15Speaker 1: Jen is an excellent mom, Can you guys hear me?
- 9:18Speaker 1: I had to switch my earbuds because I don't know
- 9:20Speaker 1: how technology works, So I mean, either it's a struggle
- 9:23Speaker 1: every time we start, he's like, MS, you're Jetti hooked up.
- 9:26Speaker 1: I'm like, I had to ask my kids. They're now
- 9:29Speaker 1: they have real school, so I have to actually figure
- 9:31Speaker 1: it out myself. I I don't even pretend to know anymore.
- 9:35Speaker 1: I'm like, we all know. You're ordering it on Amazon.
- 9:37Speaker 1: You want to you've ordered it, It's gonna show up.
- 9:39Speaker 1: I'm going to be confused, and I don't want to
- 9:41Speaker 1: deal with the return label. Just keep it in order
- 9:43Speaker 1: it for yourself. Say it's from Santa. Let's cut this ship.
- 9:45Speaker 1: You know. Um Jen is a mom, is fantastic. She's
- 9:49Speaker 1: very engaged and warm and like available to them and
- 9:54Speaker 1: like works really hard, does all this stuff to make
- 9:57Speaker 1: them happy. And I think sometimes I think works so
- 10:00Speaker 1: hard to make them happy that it's at her own.
- 10:03Speaker 1: But she's like working so hard. I'm like, you need
- 10:05Speaker 1: to sit down, you to stop. What are you doing.
- 10:09Speaker 1: It's two am. Stop making phone balls for a party
- 10:12Speaker 1: by that stuff? Oh all the d I y oh yeah.
- 10:16Speaker 1: We had a real intense conversation about this yesterday for
- 10:20Speaker 1: our podcast because we were like, I am getting my
- 10:24Speaker 1: ass handed to me by a six year old girl,
- 10:26Speaker 1: like ten old boy, and she is mean to me.
- 10:31Speaker 1: And she was mean to Kristen the other day and
- 10:35Speaker 1: she was like, oh no. Kristen was like, have you
- 10:37Speaker 1: forgotten you're from Nebraska. You don't take this. You wrestle
- 10:41Speaker 1: that child if you have to like into submission. So
- 10:44Speaker 1: it's I think. I think Christen's a really like she's
- 10:48Speaker 1: a fun mom. She's a tickler. She like comes up
- 10:51Speaker 1: with sports and games and like sen dominoes up all
- 10:54Speaker 1: over the house and things songs and does dance parties
- 10:58Speaker 1: and stuff. And I'm like, let's like candles talk about
- 11:00Speaker 1: intentions and stuff like that. So they prefer when Kristen
- 11:04Speaker 1: comes over. Yeah, although I am a yell from the
- 11:08Speaker 1: how I They say, like, well, our marriage counselor said,
- 11:12Speaker 1: you're you're supposed to like not yell across the room.
- 11:16Speaker 1: You're supposed to walk into the room to talk to somebody.
- 11:19Speaker 1: But that's so against my internal being that now when
- 11:23Speaker 1: I walk into the room because I don't want to yell,
- 11:25Speaker 1: I'm so full of like yelling energy that I can't
- 11:29Speaker 1: deal with it. So like, I am a yell from
- 11:31Speaker 1: across the house kind of person, but it generally is
- 11:34Speaker 1: not all like you know, I'm not mad about everything.
- 11:37Speaker 1: I'm like, you need a burger. I'm just a very
- 11:40Speaker 1: loud person and Jen is not loud. I am very loud.
- 11:43Speaker 1: I feel like I'm loud, but then I'm sometimes hypocritical,
- 11:46Speaker 1: like it'll be my kids yelling like yeah, and then
- 11:49Speaker 1: I'm in the bathroom. I'm like, I need that bathroom
- 11:54Speaker 1: the house. But then I'm like, what am I doing?
- 11:57Speaker 1: You're doing your right, you're doing it right. They're fault,
- 12:00Speaker 1: they're wrong there right. So what is like, if you
- 12:05Speaker 1: could say anything, what would your best advice be to Oh,
- 12:11Speaker 1: we always say we don't give advice, We're like that,
- 12:13Speaker 1: but not to do sort of by giving advice, Like
- 12:18Speaker 1: I would say my advice based on my relationship with
- 12:21Speaker 1: Jen is like if we're talking about that time that
- 12:24Speaker 1: like you really feel bad, I would say, think to yourself,
- 12:28Speaker 1: phone a friend, Like phone a friend, we don't text,
- 12:32Speaker 1: Like call your friend for no reason. When was the
- 12:35Speaker 1: last time you got a no reason call? Just like
- 12:37Speaker 1: a phone called it like there was no endgame in sight.
- 12:41Speaker 1: You just call that friend because I guarantee, like you
- 12:44Speaker 1: need it because you obviously are in that place. But
- 12:46Speaker 1: she's going to need it too, And it always makes
- 12:48Speaker 1: everything better whenever I talk to Jen and it's like,
- 12:51Speaker 1: like the least important call is when I feel like
- 12:55Speaker 1: I it like does something to my system. And so like,
- 12:58Speaker 1: I don't have any advice for moms. We're all busting
- 13:00Speaker 1: rash doing our best, but busting our butt doing our best.
- 13:04Speaker 1: But I think we have to remember to use each other.
- 13:08Speaker 1: You just reminded me of what I would say is
- 13:10Speaker 1: my best advice, and that would be to get a
- 13:12Speaker 1: mom friend who is also a nurse um and so
- 13:17Speaker 1: you can text her like rashes and stuff in the
- 13:20Speaker 1: middle of the night and she can advise you. Yeah,
- 13:23Speaker 1: and she can also bring over one. I'm dying that
- 13:26Speaker 1: you said, because I have a group text and it
- 13:29Speaker 1: says my therapists, But really they're just like my five
- 13:32Speaker 1: best mom friends and one of them is actually a therapist,
- 13:35Speaker 1: one of them is a nurse one of them, and
- 13:37Speaker 1: it's like we all like can add our two cents
- 13:41Speaker 1: to whatever it is. And I'm like, there's a rash
- 13:43Speaker 1: right here. Like today I had to send a text
- 13:46Speaker 1: to because my son struggles with anxiety and today he
- 13:50Speaker 1: comes out and he's like crying. I mean, I heard
- 13:51Speaker 1: about this incident in his therapy a couple of weeks ago,
- 13:54Speaker 1: but he comes out crying. It's like, mom, I just
- 13:56Speaker 1: need to stop going to school. And I'm like why
- 13:58Speaker 1: and he's like, because last year I taught I taught
- 14:04Speaker 1: one of the kids in class with the middle finger
- 14:07Speaker 1: meant and I'm like, what does what does it mean?
- 14:10Speaker 1: And he's like, well, I just said it was the
- 14:12Speaker 1: bad finger, and then I showed them what it was
- 14:14Speaker 1: and he goes, yesterday she looked at me and did
- 14:17Speaker 1: it like I remember. And I was like all right,
- 14:21Speaker 1: and so what do you And he's like sobbing and
- 14:22Speaker 1: I'm like, okay, one, it's not that big of a deal.
- 14:25Speaker 1: What do you want me to do about it? Because
- 14:27Speaker 1: you have to go to school today. So we wrote
- 14:29Speaker 1: an email to his teachers and we're just like, hey,
- 14:32Speaker 1: this happened, you know, can you give him some reassurance
- 14:36Speaker 1: and let him know he's not gonna get in trouble
- 14:38Speaker 1: but he's honest blah blah blah. But then after I
- 14:40Speaker 1: sent the email, I had to send it to my
- 14:42Speaker 1: therapist group chain and go, he's not actually gonna get
- 14:45Speaker 1: in trouble for this, right, Like we're being honest, we're
- 14:48Speaker 1: putting it out there, because you have that moment after
- 14:50Speaker 1: you say something that you think you're doing the right
- 14:52Speaker 1: thing as apparent, but then you're like, oh crap, did
- 14:55Speaker 1: I just I get my studied trouble absolutely always walking
- 14:58Speaker 1: away going I don't know that's going to turn out.
- 15:01Speaker 1: I might have just sent him into a Lionston. Let's
- 15:04Speaker 1: let's hope for the best fingers crossed. Okay, I'm going
- 15:06Speaker 1: to them all like like, what are you gonna do? Like,
- 15:09Speaker 1: he's such a nice kid, though, like you've got to
- 15:12Speaker 1: feel good that you raised a good human in that
- 15:14Speaker 1: moment though that he like feels guilt and like has
- 15:17Speaker 1: a conscience. I mean he's been carrying it around for
- 15:21Speaker 1: a year, all right. Fine, That's where we all fail
- 15:25Speaker 1: is my son was in trouble the other day and
- 15:28Speaker 1: like we're watching a g T and we're talking about
- 15:30Speaker 1: how like the kids just like they if they win,
- 15:33Speaker 1: they get passed on to the next level. They're like fine,
- 15:35Speaker 1: but the parents are like sobbing, like it's their whole
- 15:37Speaker 1: life and they My son asked my husband and he's like, Hey,
- 15:40Speaker 1: why did the parents get so upset? And my husband's like,
- 15:43Speaker 1: because the parents want more for the kids. They want
- 15:46Speaker 1: it more than the kids want the thing. And my
- 15:48Speaker 1: son just balls, like heaving sobbing, like had to have
- 15:51Speaker 1: a hut. Balls And I'm like, but he's like a
- 15:53Speaker 1: good kid. But did we ever do it? Are we
- 15:56Speaker 1: being like you remember that point too much? What? Yeah?
- 16:01Speaker 1: We drill the point. I don't know. I know, And
- 16:04Speaker 1: I think that every parent kind of has like are
- 16:06Speaker 1: you guys more like into academic or sport or like
- 16:09Speaker 1: do you see yourselves like in the stands, like going
- 16:13Speaker 1: for it? Or like while they're doing the homework, like
- 16:15Speaker 1: are you more laid back? Um? I think what we
- 16:19Speaker 1: try to do and I have to give perhaps to
- 16:21Speaker 1: my husband because he's he helps with the homework, because
- 16:24Speaker 1: I lost the ability to do math, uh, their first
- 16:27Speaker 1: grade stuff. I was like, what is core math? What
- 16:31Speaker 1: is we? You know what? I'm not a scientist, so
- 16:34Speaker 1: I don't know. Okay, I need all of those like
- 16:38Speaker 1: tangible things. I've got the sticks. I'm like, I don't
- 16:40Speaker 1: know what grouping is. Okay, I am a comedian. I
- 16:43Speaker 1: this is reserved for somebody else. But I do think
- 16:46Speaker 1: that what we try to do is just make them
- 16:48Speaker 1: want to try hard. It does not matter what the
- 16:51Speaker 1: endgame is. But our thing is like whatever it is
- 16:54Speaker 1: you're doing, you just have to try. Like my daughter,
- 16:58Speaker 1: my son, he'll try to thing. He doesn't care. He
- 17:01Speaker 1: may not be good at it, but he does try hard.
- 17:03Speaker 1: My daughter, on the other hand, is like, you know,
- 17:06Speaker 1: this soccer is hot, and I'm uncomfortable and I don't
- 17:11Speaker 1: think I want to do it right now. And we're
- 17:13Speaker 1: in the middle of the game, so I'm just gonna
- 17:14Speaker 1: stand here and put my hands in my pockets. We're
- 17:16Speaker 1: on the outside going like what are you doing? You
- 17:20Speaker 1: better start learning. It's like, man, I don't think I
- 17:23Speaker 1: want to. And so that's when it gets really hard
- 17:25Speaker 1: because you're like, what do I do now, I've got
- 17:29Speaker 1: no leverage, Like she's just decided it's no longer worth trying.
- 17:32Speaker 1: So that's where we are is are like, you know,
- 17:35Speaker 1: stick tutiveness is like you just have to try. You
- 17:38Speaker 1: have to try, and you have to finish something you completed.
- 17:40Speaker 1: You have to be a good teammate and you have
- 17:42Speaker 1: to give effort. And that's where we're at. That's our bar.
- 17:46Speaker 1: And would you say that you guys are the same way, Oh,
- 17:50Speaker 1: we're right now. I'm like, just don't steal or kill anybody,
- 17:54Speaker 1: Like it's so bad at our house right now. Well,
- 17:57Speaker 1: my daughter started kindergarten like during the pandemic, so she
- 18:00Speaker 1: never learned like how to go to school. She was
- 18:03Speaker 1: remote school for like ever and couldn't visualize that there
- 18:06Speaker 1: were like twenty other kids in this like classroom. So
- 18:10Speaker 1: she just thought it was all about her. And so
- 18:12Speaker 1: she's like really in this like like shock of her
- 18:16Speaker 1: life to see that like she has to like follow
- 18:19Speaker 1: these rules and has to wear pants to school. I
- 18:21Speaker 1: mean all of us aren't, I know. So it's I'm
- 18:26Speaker 1: trying to give her like a lot of grace, and
- 18:28Speaker 1: she's taking a whole lot of grace. I mean, we're
- 18:32Speaker 1: really big on academics, especially like with my daughter. I
- 18:35Speaker 1: feel like I really want her to like like have
- 18:40Speaker 1: academics to be as important as they are to like
- 18:42Speaker 1: my son, because I didn't feel that way growing up.
- 18:45Speaker 1: And I don't know, but that was my parents bad parenting.
- 18:49Speaker 1: But but do we do you think that that? Like,
- 18:52Speaker 1: I mean I barely graduated high school. I was so
- 18:55Speaker 1: into riding horses. I bare like it was a struggle
- 18:59Speaker 1: like to and show up to school. And my like
- 19:02Speaker 1: my daughter she's so into school, like she doesn't want
- 19:05Speaker 1: to be thirty seconds late. Like she's like, mom, I
- 19:08Speaker 1: can't be I cannot miss one second of class. Like
- 19:10Speaker 1: the second she has homework she gets done, Cruise Like,
- 19:13Speaker 1: I'm like, buddy, can we read? Like for two seconds?
- 19:15Speaker 1: He's like nah, I'm like what do you know how
- 19:18Speaker 1: to spell? He's like my name c r u Z
- 19:21Speaker 1: like the you know, like kids are so different and
- 19:25Speaker 1: like no matter what you try to do, like they're
- 19:27Speaker 1: just gonna come out in completely different ways. And like
- 19:32Speaker 1: I feel like the more I push, I can only
- 19:34Speaker 1: do so much. So I was like, Cruise, on Friday's,
- 19:37Speaker 1: you're gonna be meeting with this teacher who's gonna do
- 19:39Speaker 1: a little extra reading with you, and he'll do it
- 19:41Speaker 1: with her, but with me. I can read to him,
- 19:43Speaker 1: but if I try to get him to read to me,
- 19:45Speaker 1: it's absolutely not. Yeah, it's tough. It's tough working with
- 19:49Speaker 1: your own kids too, Like it's just like you have
- 19:51Speaker 1: no patience. It's it feels so hard. That's why this
- 19:54Speaker 1: last year and a half like kicked everybody's bottom. Yeah
- 19:58Speaker 1: you see what I did. I see what we did there?
- 20:01Speaker 1: You see what I did there? Was heart friendly right there.
- 20:03Speaker 1: I I hearded that. I I hearded the out of that. Um.
- 20:09Speaker 1: But yeah, I think everybody is trying their hardest right now. Also,
- 20:13Speaker 1: I don't know, and I could be wrong, and this
- 20:15Speaker 1: is probably not a great parenting philosophy, but if it's
- 20:18Speaker 1: one thing that I've learned in the last year and
- 20:20Speaker 1: a half, it's kind of like, let some of it
- 20:22Speaker 1: roll off your back. They're all going to end up okay,
- 20:25Speaker 1: like we're you know, so everybody's gonna have to catch
- 20:29Speaker 1: up a little bit, Like what what are we really
- 20:32Speaker 1: trying to prove by like making everybody feel like there's
- 20:37Speaker 1: got to be this thing that we get to. I'm like,
- 20:39Speaker 1: we just missed a year and a half of like
- 20:41Speaker 1: kids interacting with each other. There's going to be a
- 20:44Speaker 1: time where we have to correct. So like everybody, if
- 20:47Speaker 1: everybody just chills out a little bit, maybe we lower
- 20:50Speaker 1: our bar a little bit, like we'll be I mean,
- 20:52Speaker 1: don't you think, well it all work out in the
- 20:54Speaker 1: end like that, I mean we we all survived, Yeah,
- 21:00Speaker 1: like we didn't. We grew up without cell phones and
- 21:02Speaker 1: I don't know how we did it. So like there's
- 21:05Speaker 1: I know, without being helicopter parented like I would just
- 21:08Speaker 1: be gone for out. I mean the fastest I am,
- 21:12Speaker 1: like I have a tracker on to know exactly where
- 21:14Speaker 1: my kids are at every moment of every second of
- 21:17Speaker 1: every day. My friends, you know, I was a week's
- 21:19Speaker 1: at a time. Yeah. My parents were like, wait, you
- 21:22Speaker 1: live here, and I was like, it's cool, it's cool.
- 21:25Speaker 1: I'm eight, thank you. So it's crews second or first,
- 21:29Speaker 1: like birth order. I think, OK, so I have a stepdaughter,
- 21:31Speaker 1: she's twelve, and she's with us every other weekend, and
- 21:35Speaker 1: then summer's two weeks on, two weeks off, and then
- 21:37Speaker 1: I have Slate, which is the firstborn, and she is
- 21:42Speaker 1: about to turn nine, you like have to think about it.
- 21:45Speaker 1: Then Cruise is seven, and then Dove is eighteen months,
- 21:51Speaker 1: and we like to joke around like when Dove joins
- 21:54Speaker 1: the family, because what ends up happening when you have
- 21:56Speaker 1: so many is that the little one gets left behind.
- 21:59Speaker 1: Where like, come on, everybody, But like I'm like the
- 22:02Speaker 1: struggle like with Slayton, Cruisingbella, like we all came and
- 22:05Speaker 1: did everything together, but now it's like with the pandemic,
- 22:09Speaker 1: Dove is she does less. Things were like we've got
- 22:14Speaker 1: out to dinner with Dove. I don't know five times,
- 22:18Speaker 1: she's gonna be fine. She will be so fine. That's
- 22:21Speaker 1: the thing is, like my brother has like multiple master's degrees,
- 22:25Speaker 1: Like he could not be smarter, like he just is.
- 22:28Speaker 1: He's a great human. He also has really great teeth,
- 22:30Speaker 1: like all of it upset. He's just a wonderful Yeah.
- 22:35Speaker 1: But I think he would say, like we have like
- 22:37Speaker 1: different kinds of smart, you know. But I mean, I
- 22:41Speaker 1: honestly did not finish my college entrance exam because I
- 22:45Speaker 1: was getting dance team photos right afterwards, and I was
- 22:48Speaker 1: so worried about my the rollers in my hair that
- 22:52Speaker 1: like I barely made it to college even so, Like,
- 22:56Speaker 1: but I think he would say that I'm smart too. Well.
- 22:59Speaker 1: I also say people smart is very important in being
- 23:02Speaker 1: able to read people and having empathy. And you know,
- 23:05Speaker 1: let's just say we're raising good humans, all right, let's
- 23:07Speaker 1: just let off that. But how do you guys deal with,
- 23:10Speaker 1: especially you know, having a big following on social media
- 23:13Speaker 1: media with like mom shaming and just all the you know,
- 23:17Speaker 1: whatever is going on with them, How they you know,
- 23:19Speaker 1: will put that on you. Um, we've it's it's a thing,
- 23:24Speaker 1: and we just talked about this yesterday too. I here's
- 23:28Speaker 1: here's what I think about that is you can be
- 23:32Speaker 1: having a really crappy day and then you can take
- 23:35Speaker 1: it out on someone on social media and you think
- 23:37Speaker 1: there's no fallout because you sort of think of yourself.
- 23:40Speaker 1: It's so small in the big equation that no one
- 23:42Speaker 1: will sort of see it. So it's kind of like
- 23:44Speaker 1: you get to punch this thing and there's no recourse.
- 23:46Speaker 1: But that's just not true. When you say something and
- 23:50Speaker 1: it isn't nice and it is harsh and it's sort
- 23:54Speaker 1: of unnecessary. You put that energy out there and also
- 23:59Speaker 1: they you see it, and so do other people around you.
- 24:02Speaker 1: And if you wouldn't say that's the next step. Person,
- 24:04Speaker 1: don't say it at all. Like I just think that,
- 24:07Speaker 1: like we're not being careful with each other, and that's
- 24:10Speaker 1: not that's not okay, man. We can do better than that.
- 24:13Speaker 1: There's no reason there's no reason to like troll someone
- 24:16Speaker 1: and there's no reason to like say something if it
- 24:19Speaker 1: doesn't impact you directly. Do you know what I mean?
- 24:21Speaker 1: I just say, like, don't say it, like don't like
- 24:25Speaker 1: I don't know. That's just my camp and I think
- 24:27Speaker 1: that we try to we practice like we play because
- 24:30Speaker 1: we want our kids to be like that. You know,
- 24:32Speaker 1: we don't want there is fallout on social media if
- 24:35Speaker 1: you say stuff that isn't kind. I mean I actually
- 24:38Speaker 1: even have gotten to the point where if people give
- 24:40Speaker 1: me unwarranted advice that like makes me nervous or uncomfortable,
- 24:44Speaker 1: I just have to block it. Like you, you can
- 24:47Speaker 1: come at me all you want, like you call me man, hands,
- 24:49Speaker 1: monotone voice, all the things like I've heard it, Oh god,
- 24:54Speaker 1: come at me, Oh God. This is one of those
- 24:56Speaker 1: things where you're like so gorgeous that like they say
- 24:59Speaker 1: things to you, but us so like so reritable. It's
- 25:02Speaker 1: all the things. I'm like, yes, I talked with my hands,
- 25:05Speaker 1: Yes I have a monotone voice. Just keep it coming,
- 25:08Speaker 1: bring it. But then it's like people send me a
- 25:10Speaker 1: message that like something about like that can happen to
- 25:13Speaker 1: your kids in this hypothetical situation, and I'm like I
- 25:17Speaker 1: don't need my mind to go there because then you
- 25:20Speaker 1: like manifest it and like like so then I just
- 25:22Speaker 1: like block it. I'm like I don't. I don't want
- 25:24Speaker 1: to think about that. I don't want to hear it.
- 25:26Speaker 1: I don't want to see it and like the fact
- 25:28Speaker 1: that like we all are doing the best that we can,
- 25:30Speaker 1: don't even put it out there. Yeah. Yeah, well I
- 25:35Speaker 1: always try to really get the we call our fans
- 25:38Speaker 1: the moms. There's like this is it's statistically impossible that
- 25:43Speaker 1: out of like two million, two point five million people,
- 25:46Speaker 1: you're not going to have a couple of like super
- 25:47Speaker 1: crazy people like sending you messages. But for the usually
- 25:51Speaker 1: my family, yeah, it's one of my cousins, of my
- 25:55Speaker 1: cousins sometimes my mom criticizing me. You're going to have
- 26:00Speaker 1: a few of those that we just like hide it
- 26:02Speaker 1: and don't get the ball started, because so many of
- 26:05Speaker 1: our moms will like come to our defense or they'll
- 26:09Speaker 1: say it to another mom like hey, that wasn't really cool,
- 26:11Speaker 1: and she responds like, you know what, You're right, I'm
- 26:14Speaker 1: having a really bad day, like in the most like
- 26:16Speaker 1: human non defensive. Yeah. So sometimes it's just really what's
- 26:20Speaker 1: going on in their day. Yeah, and you're allowed to
- 26:24Speaker 1: have a bad day. I just think sometimes people think,
- 26:26Speaker 1: like I wonder if sometimes people think I'm like I'm
- 26:31Speaker 1: one human in the in this person like yourself. It's
- 26:34Speaker 1: so popular and has so many followers, She's not gonna
- 26:37Speaker 1: see my one snarky comment about this thing I'm gonna
- 26:39Speaker 1: put out there, and it's gonna make me feel better
- 26:41Speaker 1: because I'm kind of having a crappy day, but you
- 26:43Speaker 1: do see it, and or you're putting that energy out
- 26:46Speaker 1: there of doing something that isn't very nice, like I
- 26:48Speaker 1: sort of flipped the script, and I'm like, I don't know,
- 26:51Speaker 1: like maybe like say a nice thing, does that like
- 26:53Speaker 1: drag you out of your bad day a little easier?
- 26:56Speaker 1: I know that's so Pollyanna, but and sometimes when I
- 26:58Speaker 1: have responded, I've been like, you know what, please like?
- 27:01Speaker 1: That really makes me feel uncomfortable. And then I'm like,
- 27:04Speaker 1: oh my gosh, you responded. I actually don't even think that.
- 27:08Speaker 1: I just wanted to see if you'd responded, And then
- 27:10Speaker 1: I'm like, please, like, now I feel even worse. But
- 27:13Speaker 1: you know, I think it's it's all the highs and
- 27:15Speaker 1: lows of social media. But something that my girlfriends and
- 27:19Speaker 1: I were talking about the other day that we were
- 27:21Speaker 1: completely divided on that I have to ask you all
- 27:23Speaker 1: about how do you guys feel about parenting each other's kids.
- 27:27Speaker 1: So I'm one of those like if you're at my
- 27:29Speaker 1: house and you see my kids slipping doing something wrong.
- 27:33Speaker 1: You you can go ahead and parent them all you want,
- 27:36Speaker 1: like you could step in. I don't mind you, like
- 27:39Speaker 1: you go ahead and discipline and you do what you
- 27:41Speaker 1: need to do. Um where some are like you just
- 27:43Speaker 1: mind your own business. I'll step in one night and
- 27:46Speaker 1: I'm gonna then I'm gonna parent her. I would be
- 27:53Speaker 1: so offended if a friend of mine said, mind your
- 27:56Speaker 1: own business with my kids, because I mean, obviously you're
- 27:58Speaker 1: not gonna pick them up in spane come or something
- 28:00Speaker 1: like that. Kristen and I have this agreement like you
- 28:04Speaker 1: look like you see my kid doing something wrong, please
- 28:07Speaker 1: like immediately get to it, because I'm gonna miss it.
- 28:10Speaker 1: I call it the mom stance where you have your
- 28:13Speaker 1: hands on your hips and like I know that Jen
- 28:15Speaker 1: is saying something like disciplinary and to my kids if
- 28:19Speaker 1: her hands are in her hands, and then the other
- 28:21Speaker 1: one of us will come out and also stand with
- 28:23Speaker 1: our hands and our hips. So like the kids are
- 28:25Speaker 1: like book ended by these two like pterodactyls that are
- 28:29Speaker 1: like I saw you don't throw that. Don't throw rocks.
- 28:32Speaker 1: There's you know, like at Jen's birthday party for Delilah Um,
- 28:37Speaker 1: they had this they had this really neat guest house
- 28:39Speaker 1: and I and the kids were like trying to climb
- 28:41Speaker 1: through a window and I caught him and I was
- 28:43Speaker 1: over there and I was like, I was like, absolutely not,
- 28:47Speaker 1: all of you need to get down. This is not okay.
- 28:50Speaker 1: This is like and I was like, man, I'm like
- 28:52Speaker 1: a security guard at this, but I go, She'll do
- 28:56Speaker 1: the same thing, Like, there's no I think that's a
- 28:59Speaker 1: sign of love. Like if I'm willing to, it's an
- 29:02Speaker 1: effort to keep everybody safe in a little bit, you know. Well,
- 29:05Speaker 1: managed I'll bark at anybody's kids. I'll be at a park.
- 29:08Speaker 1: You better. It's a free for all. And I expect
- 29:10Speaker 1: the same me too. And I think that, you know.
- 29:15Speaker 1: And the one thing that the only thing that I
- 29:17Speaker 1: don't like is when other kids parents the kids. Oh yeah,
- 29:20Speaker 1: that's why I'm like, no, yeah, I'll I'm in charge here.
- 29:25Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, just put my kid in time out or
- 29:29Speaker 1: anything like that. But I definitely want them to remind
- 29:32Speaker 1: them to be nice and not to like poke another
- 29:34Speaker 1: kid with a stick, you know, Like who can debate that.
- 29:38Speaker 1: We're also in the age of like everybody tattling on everybody,
- 29:42Speaker 1: like because our four kids are well, actually Eleanor in
- 29:46Speaker 1: in Delilah get they've been so close their whole time together.
- 29:51Speaker 1: But we've got a ten, two eights, and a six
- 29:55Speaker 1: right now. And so my ten year old has given
- 29:58Speaker 1: me a run for my money, and jens six year
- 29:59Speaker 1: old is given her run for money. And then we
- 30:01Speaker 1: have Dashell and Eleanor in the middle. And so everybody's
- 30:04Speaker 1: got these different age brackets and they're all trained to
- 30:07Speaker 1: tattle except the girls. So everybody's kind of got something
- 30:09Speaker 1: on somebody. So at one point or another, Jen and
- 30:12Speaker 1: I are always like trying to take a sip of
- 30:14Speaker 1: our coffee or whatever, and they're coming in. We're like,
- 30:17Speaker 1: figure it out, figuring it out. Go give somebody create
- 30:21Speaker 1: parliamentary procedure and start voting this out. Like we're done.
- 30:24Speaker 1: Like you guys are got You've got to figure this out.
- 30:27Speaker 1: So like sometimes we let them manage themselves. Do get out, guys.
- 30:31Speaker 1: We can we cannot be bothered. Yeah, I want to
- 30:35Speaker 1: hear all about Jen's day. I don't want to hear
- 30:38Speaker 1: about this, especially if we're together. We can't be booked
- 30:41Speaker 1: up with your problems we got I've got my own problems. Hey,
- 30:53Speaker 1: I'm Bethany Joy Lens, I'm Hilary Burton, and I'm Sophia
- 30:57Speaker 1: Bush and we are doing a virtual event in September
- 31:01Speaker 1: in honor of One Tree Hill Day, September twenty three,
- 31:04Speaker 1: O t H Day for the O t H Fam
- 31:06Speaker 1: and this podcast family is going to be benefiting Kind
- 31:10Speaker 1: campaign with this event. They worked to end bullying in
- 31:12Speaker 1: schools and we just love them. That's right. The Drama
- 31:15Speaker 1: Queens are so excited to hang out with you guys
- 31:17Speaker 1: on our very special day. So all the information is
- 31:20Speaker 1: going to go up on looped live dot com. There
- 31:24Speaker 1: is more information coming soon. That's l O O p
- 31:28Speaker 1: E d live dot com. The Drama Queens are coming
- 31:31Speaker 1: to you live from the iconic Beverly Hilton Hotel. That's
- 31:34Speaker 1: looped live dot com for tickets. Out of like with
- 31:40Speaker 1: your husband's who is more of the disciplinary and you
- 31:42Speaker 1: guys or your husband's And then how do you deal
- 31:45Speaker 1: if you're like having different parenting? That's a good question.
- 31:51Speaker 1: I think I'm I think I create rules, make sure
- 31:56Speaker 1: he's in agreement with them, and then on the like
- 31:59Speaker 1: in four or so. Usually, but if I lose my life,
- 32:02Speaker 1: oh sorry, it's usually sorry if I lose it, which
- 32:10Speaker 1: is usually like that six to seven o'clock hour where
- 32:14Speaker 1: you're just like spent so tired. I do this thing
- 32:17Speaker 1: where I like, we'll walk out to my husband's office
- 32:19Speaker 1: and go, you need to go check your kids. You
- 32:21Speaker 1: need to go to spare your kids there, they're his
- 32:24Speaker 1: kids in that moment. Yeah makes sense. I think that
- 32:29Speaker 1: my husband and I are pretty aligned on um on discipline.
- 32:34Speaker 1: I think that we both step in at different things.
- 32:38Speaker 1: But it really comes down to like who has been
- 32:41Speaker 1: with them the longest, because we always say like I'm like,
- 32:44Speaker 1: you don't get to lose it right now. You don't
- 32:46Speaker 1: get to lose it in fifteen minutes. I've been with
- 32:47Speaker 1: them for four hours. Like you better come in and
- 32:50Speaker 1: be like cool guy, because I'm gonna go rage across
- 32:53Speaker 1: the neighborhood. You know, qually fast the neighborhood streets. Talk
- 32:58Speaker 1: to myself, well, yeah, we're pretty even, but we are disciplinarians.
- 33:02Speaker 1: We we definitely I think, uh, draw some boundaries and
- 33:06Speaker 1: believe that like there needs to be some some strict
- 33:09Speaker 1: rules because our kids will push every boundary that you
- 33:12Speaker 1: give them. I know, I mean what kids won't. But
- 33:14Speaker 1: like I am very structured, like in general, that's just
- 33:18Speaker 1: who I am, very type. And my husband's like very
- 33:21Speaker 1: like beats at like the beat of his own drum
- 33:23Speaker 1: and it's like on his own time schedule. And we
- 33:25Speaker 1: got in our biggest argument we have in years over
- 33:29Speaker 1: the first day of school. You guys had to tell
- 33:31Speaker 1: me if you if you think that I'm right or
- 33:34Speaker 1: he's right. I realized you mad guy supposed to have
- 33:36Speaker 1: right and wrong. I did a pull on Instagram and
- 33:40Speaker 1: it said he was right. But I just I'm not.
- 33:42Speaker 1: I'm not not there yet. So it's the first day
- 33:44Speaker 1: of school. They have to be we have to leave
- 33:48Speaker 1: first school at seven. He just sides, he's going to
- 33:51Speaker 1: go to a pilates class. No, he's wrong, he's wrong, wrong, right, Okay,
- 33:57Speaker 1: So I have like we have a little like track
- 34:01Speaker 1: or you know, like little thing on our phone. So
- 34:02Speaker 1: I see he's still at pilates at seven forty So
- 34:05Speaker 1: don't you worry. I've already done the first day of
- 34:07Speaker 1: school pictures, everything, we have breakfast together as a family.
- 34:11Speaker 1: So yes, we're in the car at seven forty three,
- 34:13Speaker 1: seven forty five. I'm out of the house. I don't call,
- 34:17Speaker 1: I don't whatever. Like, this is your punishment, dude, Like
- 34:20Speaker 1: I shouldn't have gone to pilates today. You should have
- 34:22Speaker 1: been home. You knew were like leaving at seven forty five.
- 34:24Speaker 1: He pulls in the house at seven forty six and
- 34:27Speaker 1: calls and he's like, where are you? And maybe it
- 34:29Speaker 1: was seven forty seven. He's like where are you? And
- 34:31Speaker 1: I'm like, I just left the house and he's like,
- 34:35Speaker 1: I cannot believe you couldn't wait two minutes or call
- 34:38Speaker 1: me and see how far away I was. And I
- 34:41Speaker 1: was like, I'm sorry. You know I should have gone
- 34:43Speaker 1: to pilates. I told you this is important. This is
- 34:45Speaker 1: the difference between forty five minutes and carpool. It's the
- 34:48Speaker 1: first day I'm not doing it. How spends are late
- 34:51Speaker 1: all the time and they don't drives me quick, Like
- 34:54Speaker 1: it honestly gives me rage. And then now all of
- 34:58Speaker 1: a sudden, I am furious in to school when we
- 35:01Speaker 1: were in a happy, fine mood. We didn't meet him
- 35:03Speaker 1: in that moment because he already chose pilates for us.
- 35:07Speaker 1: This is literally what we go to counseling over. It's
- 35:10Speaker 1: literally I'm like, I don't want to talk about feelings.
- 35:12Speaker 1: I want to talk about the schedule. The schedule. I
- 35:15Speaker 1: can tell you my husband would not go to pilates
- 35:17Speaker 1: at seven in the jump in the shower at seven.
- 35:22Speaker 1: I think that would be enough time for him to
- 35:24Speaker 1: like be out the door at seven five. And I'm like, no,
- 35:27Speaker 1: What I'm trying to teach my kids is like it's
- 35:29Speaker 1: important to be on time, and like if something matters
- 35:32Speaker 1: to you, like yes, but this is my favorite thing.
- 35:36Speaker 1: My husband we have this fight all the time because
- 35:39Speaker 1: I am very um punctual and so is Jen and
- 35:42Speaker 1: we are, if not literally on time, we're a little
- 35:45Speaker 1: bit early, just to give like a buffer. So that's
- 35:47Speaker 1: how we work as businesswomen, as moms, as like whatever.
- 35:51Speaker 1: And my husband's like, you know what, if it takes
- 35:54Speaker 1: eight minutes to get there, then it takes eight minutes
- 35:56Speaker 1: to leave, seven minutes still all speed, and then I'll
- 36:00Speaker 1: get there. But I'm like, I know I have the shortcut. Yeah,
- 36:04Speaker 1: he's sweating through his shirt trying to get up the
- 36:06Speaker 1: hill to school, and like, could you have done five
- 36:08Speaker 1: minutes earlier so you don't you don't have to be
- 36:11Speaker 1: so high strung, Like this is a constant argument with us,
- 36:14Speaker 1: And I'm like, this is making me insane, and it's
- 36:16Speaker 1: teaching the wrong thing to our kids. There is a
- 36:19Speaker 1: there's a grace period that you should have so you
- 36:21Speaker 1: can relax and enjoy your experience instead of being like,
- 36:24Speaker 1: look at us, we're thirty scuds before the belt. But honestly,
- 36:29Speaker 1: and then I don't know what he must have gotten
- 36:32Speaker 1: ready at like mock speed to leave for work, because
- 36:37Speaker 1: I then I told him, I'm like, listen, just make
- 36:39Speaker 1: sure that you leave because we're working from home a lot.
- 36:42Speaker 1: I'm like, I have so much press. Leave that like
- 36:44Speaker 1: camera thing that I don't have today. But I'm like,
- 36:46Speaker 1: leave it because I have a bunch of press, and
- 36:49Speaker 1: he must have honestly grabbed his computer the camera thing
- 36:52Speaker 1: mock speed out of there so we don't have to
- 36:54Speaker 1: have the conversation when we get home, and I say,
- 36:56Speaker 1: I'm like, now you're double whammy. Now you took the
- 36:58Speaker 1: camera thing now but liked be like sloppy. I was
- 37:02Speaker 1: so mad, And then I'm like do all couples go
- 37:06Speaker 1: through this? And why? And he's like, why can't you
- 37:09Speaker 1: just take your breath? Who cares if you're in carpool
- 37:12Speaker 1: for extra ten minutes? I do? I actually do? I do,
- 37:16Speaker 1: and it's the principle. And it's like, why the hell
- 37:19Speaker 1: would you have a watch if you don't care? Like
- 37:21Speaker 1: it's it's like it's time is there's a reason we
- 37:24Speaker 1: put a time code on like things like you want
- 37:27Speaker 1: to leave it seven forty five. Put that line in
- 37:29Speaker 1: the sand. That's very clear. Don't be seven forty six
- 37:32Speaker 1: because that's not seven forty five. Like you've got to
- 37:34Speaker 1: run a tight ship. I'm so the same way. So
- 37:36Speaker 1: do you want to move in with me? I feel
- 37:37Speaker 1: like things are really working out for us. You and
- 37:40Speaker 1: I would be it would be like a well would
- 37:43Speaker 1: the machine would be like we've got the kids, there
- 37:45Speaker 1: are already certain college courses, like it's happening. I mean,
- 37:49Speaker 1: it's really all the things that I really feel a
- 37:52Speaker 1: lot better about myself after all of this. Okay, so
- 37:55Speaker 1: what advice would you not advice, but what would you
- 37:58Speaker 1: want to tell any that's planning to like start to
- 38:02Speaker 1: have kids. Is there anything you do or what are
- 38:04Speaker 1: you coming to like expect how your life change? Oh? God,
- 38:09Speaker 1: getting I U d as long as you can and
- 38:16Speaker 1: freeze your eggs and then I mean, first of all gents,
- 38:23Speaker 1: SI says it all that's that's where I'm at right now.
- 38:26Speaker 1: For first of all, you are never going to be
- 38:29Speaker 1: ready and it's never going to be a good time.
- 38:32Speaker 1: And if you are someone who has a very clean home,
- 38:36Speaker 1: just say goodbye, have a you know, lights some whatever
- 38:40Speaker 1: stage or whatever, and be like, hey, thanks for being
- 38:43Speaker 1: awesome and clean house. I now we'll wipe boogers off
- 38:46Speaker 1: the wall until they're like I don't know, seventeen. Like
- 38:49Speaker 1: it's just in such a shift in your life, but
- 38:52Speaker 1: also in all joking aside, it's so fun, like they're
- 38:56Speaker 1: all of a sudden. You know what's really awesome is
- 38:58Speaker 1: all of a sudden, these things that were very important
- 39:00Speaker 1: to you no longer matter at all, So like you
- 39:03Speaker 1: just don't care about stuff. You're like, I'm actually kind
- 39:06Speaker 1: of happy, even though I forgot to put on pants.
- 39:10Speaker 1: I'm I'm happy. I'm kind of happy. Yeah, if I
- 39:14Speaker 1: were honest, the thing that I would say is when
- 39:17Speaker 1: you give birth to that first baby, you give birth
- 39:20Speaker 1: to two new humans because the you that you used
- 39:23Speaker 1: to be is like no longer. You have totally different priorities,
- 39:26Speaker 1: you have probably a totally different body, you have a
- 39:28Speaker 1: different like way of looking at the world, sort of
- 39:31Speaker 1: and you have to like give yourself a lot of
- 39:34Speaker 1: like leeway and grace and start to like get to
- 39:36Speaker 1: know this new person that you've become, and your vagina
- 39:41Speaker 1: is ruined. Yeah, st Yeah, I would say my biggest
- 39:45Speaker 1: thing is, like I've always said that, the first baby
- 39:49Speaker 1: is like a real eye opener, like that's and then
- 39:52Speaker 1: once the more you have, it's just kind of like
- 39:55Speaker 1: there we go, We're already in it. But the first
- 39:57Speaker 1: one for me was like whoa, what just happened? By
- 40:00Speaker 1: enjoy your Saturday mornings while you have them, because you
- 40:03Speaker 1: will never sleep in and go to brunch again, right,
- 40:06Speaker 1: and you'll never ever watch any like all of a
- 40:09Speaker 1: sudden your ball at commercials. They can never face you. Yeah,
- 40:12Speaker 1: you're like family seen in a bud like commercial will
- 40:15Speaker 1: be like and and being you know, busy entrepreneur working moms.
- 40:24Speaker 1: Do you guys believe in balance? Like I I personally don't.
- 40:28Speaker 1: Like I'm like, listen, I have to kind of set
- 40:31Speaker 1: my family up to say, like listen, Tuesday is the
- 40:34Speaker 1: day that like mommy is working NonStop. It's busy, busy day.
- 40:37Speaker 1: But like Wednesday, I've I've got you guys, I'm picking
- 40:40Speaker 1: up from school. We're doing this, this and this, and
- 40:42Speaker 1: like I kind of set everybody's expectations up. We have
- 40:44Speaker 1: the calendar, they know, and I'm kind of one way
- 40:47Speaker 1: versus the other. If not everybody's emotional, but there's some
- 40:50Speaker 1: people that are like, we're just perfectly balanced throughout the day.
- 40:53Speaker 1: Everything that's not true. They're not telling you true. Yeah,
- 40:58Speaker 1: you guys should definitely huck up, Chris, Christie really has
- 41:01Speaker 1: a calendar. It's like a it's crazy, it's hard to follow.
- 41:08Speaker 1: It hurts my eyes and like, so you've got to
- 41:10Speaker 1: tell you the part where I have you in you
- 41:13Speaker 1: and your husband. I can't figure out how to take
- 41:15Speaker 1: her out because I don't want her to see that
- 41:17Speaker 1: I'm because we've worked together all the time. So she
- 41:20Speaker 1: has like my husband goes like Christ's having a heavy
- 41:24Speaker 1: floatay today. He knows every single thing about her life
- 41:30Speaker 1: because she's in there too. Because how is that, Kristen,
- 41:34Speaker 1: did you ever fix that? I don't know what happened,
- 41:36Speaker 1: but Bert, somehows are my calendar. So my calendar is awesome,
- 41:39Speaker 1: but I can't not share it with people. So everybody
- 41:42Speaker 1: kind of knows, like that's her heavy day. Like it's
- 41:45Speaker 1: like two trains. Can I tell you guys earlier on
- 41:48Speaker 1: the podcast, I had somebody on from FLEX, which I
- 41:51Speaker 1: had never really talked about, like there period disk but listen, yeah,
- 41:57Speaker 1: did you know that you can have sex on your period?
- 42:00Speaker 1: In this on them? What my FD was blown? Yeah? No,
- 42:05Speaker 1: you got to come over to our crowd because if
- 42:07Speaker 1: you tell women that you went on a weekend vacation
- 42:10Speaker 1: in Scottsdale and you started your period, they will give
- 42:13Speaker 1: you all the information about those dists. I was like, hey, ladies,
- 42:18Speaker 1: what's up. Like it was, I learned a lot. I'm
- 42:22Speaker 1: still shook. I'm gonna have to I'm doing all my research,
- 42:25Speaker 1: I'm doing all my testing. I'm wanting all the how twos.
- 42:28Speaker 1: But okay, well you can also use them for white
- 42:31Speaker 1: trash I UI, which is something that I did. God,
- 42:34Speaker 1: it's really I did a deep dive on the internet
- 42:39Speaker 1: when I was trying to get pregnant with my daughter
- 42:41Speaker 1: and so just Precy, no, you just to keep it
- 42:45Speaker 1: in there. Nice, she did a d I Y. I
- 42:48Speaker 1: just you know, I always it never worked for me,
- 42:50Speaker 1: but I would do the method where I would just
- 42:51Speaker 1: keep my legs up. Yes how it starts, but you know,
- 42:56Speaker 1: then I ended up having to go to a doctor
- 42:58Speaker 1: and you know, professionally, but I tried. I just sneezed.
- 43:02Speaker 1: I sneezed, and I was like, oh my god. But
- 43:06Speaker 1: now I have like nightmares, like I don't know, dreams, nightmares,
- 43:09Speaker 1: whatever you wanna call it, that I'm pregnant all the time.
- 43:11Speaker 1: I now consistently have to take pregnancy tests because I'm like, guys,
- 43:15Speaker 1: I think I'm pregnant again, and they're like, you need
- 43:18Speaker 1: to stop. Because I was IVF and intimination with the
- 43:21Speaker 1: first two and then I got pregnant actually with Dove,
- 43:23Speaker 1: and now I have like PTSD about you better be careful. Yeah,
- 43:27Speaker 1: well I'm on, I have the copper I U D now,
- 43:29Speaker 1: so I'm do you like it? I don't know yet.
- 43:33Speaker 1: I'm really crampy and blowdy. It's so far, but my
- 43:36Speaker 1: hormones were all messed up, so now we're trying to
- 43:39Speaker 1: get me. Yeah, welcome to just constant a woman. Man.
- 43:43Speaker 1: But you know what, I like that you talk about it,
- 43:45Speaker 1: because it's got it. You know, Hormones are a real thing,
- 43:48Speaker 1: and they're they're intense, and they make you feel like
- 43:51Speaker 1: you're crazy and you don't ever get a break from them,
- 43:53Speaker 1: like ever, I think we think we're gonna just like
- 43:56Speaker 1: always be now, you know, neutral, but it's like highs
- 43:59Speaker 1: and low and you know, my thing is like if
- 44:02Speaker 1: I'm having a real low, like I'm gonna seek ways
- 44:05Speaker 1: to find out how to feel better. And so I
- 44:07Speaker 1: went and got my hormones checked and they're like, whoa,
- 44:10Speaker 1: this is no way, no situation. And I don't know
- 44:13Speaker 1: if it's from having coronavirus, if it was from you know,
- 44:17Speaker 1: being on a certain type of birth control. But they
- 44:18Speaker 1: were like, you should go and get copper iu D
- 44:21Speaker 1: get off the hormones. And then they just tested again,
- 44:24Speaker 1: so now I'll find out. But it's like, yeah, it's
- 44:26Speaker 1: a whole thing, isn't it. It's yeah, it's a whole thing.
- 44:28Speaker 1: And this is why your husband needs to be on time.
- 44:31Speaker 1: I know. Well I even told him, I mean, listen,
- 44:34Speaker 1: I Heart, I Heart. We're going We're doing the I
- 44:36Speaker 1: Heart Festival coming up, and I said, I'm I have
- 44:39Speaker 1: a plus one and I need to know can you
- 44:42Speaker 1: be on time for all of the events. If you can't,
- 44:45Speaker 1: it is my work and I'm bringing a friend there.
- 44:48Speaker 1: You go, I promise I can't. But speaking of self care,
- 44:51Speaker 1: What is your number one self care favorite thing to
- 44:54Speaker 1: do as mom with our kids or without? Because if
- 44:57Speaker 1: it's self care, it should be without. I would say
- 44:59Speaker 1: with out. Uh. I think mine is either like deep
- 45:04Speaker 1: diving a few episodes of Like Friends or ted Lasso,
- 45:08Speaker 1: or something that makes me just feel like totally like
- 45:11Speaker 1: I have nothing to think about, or music I think
- 45:15Speaker 1: is a good escape. That's how I work. I'm not
- 45:18Speaker 1: good at doing like facials and stuff. I forget how
- 45:22Speaker 1: to I don't know how to do it, and I
- 45:24Speaker 1: get overwhelmed. And I also don't like being sitting down
- 45:28Speaker 1: for a long period of time. I know I'm always
- 45:29Speaker 1: on that Joe. Yeah, well, I'm woulda throw a Christian
- 45:33Speaker 1: under the bus because she made me sign up for
- 45:35Speaker 1: the Peloton app. And I'm fully addicted to their yoga classes,
- 45:40Speaker 1: which I started them like when you couldn't go to
- 45:43Speaker 1: yoga class in Los Angeles, and I'm obsessed with it
- 45:45Speaker 1: and I now I'm like, I hate working out. I
- 45:48Speaker 1: don't like moving like I don't run unless somebody's chasing me.
- 45:51Speaker 1: It is not like who I am whatsoever. But now
- 45:54Speaker 1: I love to like I got my brother doing yoga
- 45:57Speaker 1: like I have so many people doing yoga because I'm like,
- 45:59Speaker 1: that's just you take care of yourself and getting better
- 46:01Speaker 1: mood and like have your body feel stronger, and then
- 46:04Speaker 1: then you're a better mom, you're a better like partner,
- 46:06Speaker 1: You're just like kind of a better human. And I
- 46:09Speaker 1: don't know who this is talking right now, because I
- 46:11Speaker 1: was gonna say, now, do you want to come work
- 46:13Speaker 1: it all in? Like you're really like giving me the pitch,
- 46:16Speaker 1: Like it's true. I don't know what happens. Christian's fault.
- 46:19Speaker 1: She got the bike. The outdoor walks and runs are
- 46:23Speaker 1: really good too, because they'll do them guided and they
- 46:26Speaker 1: give you that little boost. You can have a little sunshine,
- 46:29Speaker 1: so you can give those a try as well. I
- 46:31Speaker 1: know we're running out of time, but I know you
- 46:32Speaker 1: guys are going on tour. Do you take your families
- 46:34Speaker 1: with you? Or how do you do it? We did
- 46:36Speaker 1: one time and then we learned. But we we have
- 46:39Speaker 1: like a system in place where we go like four
- 46:42Speaker 1: days at a time is our max, and then we're
- 46:44Speaker 1: home for a bit and then we go for four
- 46:45Speaker 1: more days. But you can find all of our tour
- 46:47Speaker 1: and from my information on my mom so her dot
- 46:50Speaker 1: com but we're very excited. We have a new show.
- 46:53Speaker 1: We've worked really hard on it. We think it's it's
- 46:55Speaker 1: uplifting and fun and it's a good stand up show.
- 46:59Speaker 1: But there's more to it than just that. So yeah,
- 47:01Speaker 1: it's our third tour and this one's called the Getaway
- 47:04Speaker 1: Tour because we think our moms definitely need to get
- 47:07Speaker 1: away after the last year and a half and we
- 47:09Speaker 1: specifically do. So there's no way we're taking our kids,
- 47:11Speaker 1: No way. No, We've all spent enough time together. Yeah,
- 47:15Speaker 1: I want to get away and go. Thank you guys
- 47:17Speaker 1: so much for joining me. I had so much fun
- 47:19Speaker 1: with y'all and I could talk to you for hours,
- 47:21Speaker 1: so I appreciate it. Thank you for having us. Bye bye. Well, guys,
- 47:27Speaker 1: that was such a fun show. Thank you so much
