- 6:26Dan Schulz: And this message brought to you courtesy of Simply Leak Detection
- 6:32Jennifer Davis: Okay, it's time for the Redmond History Minute, where we share an interesting piece of history, trivia, or tidbit about life in and around Redmond.
- 6:41Jennifer Davis: Here's today's question.
- 6:43Jennifer Davis: In 2004, a youth baseball team from Redmond made it all the way to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
- 6:52Jennifer Davis: Which Redmond league was it?
- 6:55Jennifer Davis: Was it A, Redmond South, B, Redmond East, C, Redmond North, or D, Redmond Town Center?
- 7:02Jennifer Davis: Not a league.
- 7:04Jennifer Davis: And Dan, your time starts now
- 7:08Dan Schulz: I was smiling the entire time because I know, I thought I knew what the answer was.
- 7:13Dan Schulz: You know what I was gonna say.
- 7:14Dan Schulz: Redmond
- 7:16Jennifer Davis: It's gotta be one of the f- one of the three directions mentioned.
- 7:20Jennifer Davis: Apparently no Redmond West.
- 7:22Dan Schulz: Oh my God.
- 7:23Dan Schulz: I, all I know is Redmond.
- 7:26Dan Schulz: Then I gotta go, my, uh, school test-taking tells me to go with C.
- 7:31Dan Schulz: My final answer, Redmond North
- 7:37Jennifer Davis: Well, Dan, you are correct with your thinking about how the answer is usually C when you don't know.
- 7:44Jennifer Davis: The answer is Redmond North.
- 7:46Jennifer Davis: Yes, Redmond North Little League won the Northwest Regional in two thousand and four and earned a trip to the Little League World Series in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
- 7:56Jennifer Davis: They became just the third Washington team to represent the Northwest since the regional format began in two thousand and one, joining Bainbridge Island and Richland.
- 8:05Jennifer Davis: For a city that's often known for Microsoft and technology, it was a reminder that Redmond kids can compete on some of the biggest stages in youth sports
- 8:15Dan Schulz: I'm back, baby.
- 8:17Dan Schulz: From now on, I'm using my new method: no thinking Rumor mill.
- 8:32Dan Schulz: This is a fun one.
- 8:33Dan Schulz: Here is one that is making the rounds this week.
- 8:36Dan Schulz: Rumor has it a Korean fried chicken and draft beer concept that's already built a following in Lynnwood and in Federal Way Is looking at the Cleveland Street corridor for its next location.
- 8:50Dan Schulz: We've heard it would be a counter service restaurant with crispy fried chicken, late night hours, and a focus on the Microsoft lunch crowd.
- 8:58Dan Schulz: Now, we haven't been able to confirm any of that yet.
- 9:01Dan Schulz: So right now it is definitely a rumor, but if it is true, would you give it a try?
- 9:06Dan Schulz: If you've got a guess or if you heard anything about this, head on over to our Facebook page at facebook.com/bestofredmond and drop it in the Redmond Rumor Mill Guesses post.
- 9:18Dan Schulz: And while you are over at the Facebook page, try to find the post called Your Picks and tell us who you think has the best ice coffee in Redmond
- 9:29Jennifer Davis: If you've enjoyed this podcast, you're gonna love the companion newsletter.
- 9:34Jennifer Davis: Find it at bestofredmond.com and we'll see you in the next one
- 9:39Dan Schulz: Or maybe before then, walking around Redmond.
