2 Minute Timeout: Keeping X a big deal for Tigers · The Auburn Undercover Podcast

• 0:01
you look at this time of the the
• 0:03
transfer portal and and a lot of talk
• 0:07
goes into who you're losing and and
• 0:09
obviously it's important when you you
• 0:11
  think about potentially losing Jay
• 0:13
Crawford or or you know Malcolm Simmons
• 0:16
those guys those are important players
• 0:17
for Auburn but you know this time you
• 0:20
also get to celebrate when when guys say
• 0:22
hey I'm not going anywhere and and
• 0:24
Xavier Atkins is is a huge piece of the
• 0:27
puzzle for for this Auburn team for this
• 0:29
Auburn defense when you think about what
• 0:31
he brings to the table. Um, not only
• 0:34
  just production, but energy, attitude,
• 0:37
and as much as anything, this is a huge
• 0:40
one for perception when you start
• 0:42
thinking about keeping a guy like that
• 0:43
on a roster. Um, you know, you going
• 0:46
like, hey, what's it look like the first
• 0:49
the first u goaround for for Alice
• 0:52
Golish? And and you keep Xavier Atkins
• 0:54
is a big deal. There's no question that,
• 0:56
you know, having DJ Durkin um stay as as
• 0:59
Auburn defensive coordinator was was a
• 1:00
big part of this. But, you know, Xavier
• 1:02
Act is a guy that talked about how I
• 1:04
love [clears throat] Auburn is a place
• 1:05
where he got an opportunity. Um didn't
• 1:07
get a chance to play at LSU really much
• 1:09
that first season and he kind of fit
• 1:12
perfectly with with the scheme and what
• 1:14
Auburn wanted to do on defense. And so,
• 1:15
that's a uh that's an important part of
• 1:17
this one. Um, but keeping, you know, X
• 1:21
is is a big deal when you start thinking
• 1:23
about the future of this Auburn defense
• 1:26
and this Auburn team because, uh, he's a
• 1:29
tone setter. Um, what he does on that
• 1:31
  side of the ball, getting
• 1:33
[clears throat] after guys and and
• 1:35
creating havoc, um, it impacts the
• 1:38
entire defense. And so, I think a big
• 1:40
deal, um, you keeping Xavier Atkins and
• 1:42
and and doing those things on that side
• 1:44
of the ball. A lot more comingings and
• 1:46
goings will happen. We'll have it locked
• 1:47
in there at Auburn Undercover. So, come
• 1:49
check us out. Also, check out Bunkers
• 1:51
Auburn downtown. U great time to go
• 1:53
check them out here during the holiday
• 1:54
season. So, um go go check them out and
• 1:57
uh parking spaces, all those things
• 1:58
downtown. Go. So, Bunkers of Auburn.
• 2:01
  Have fun, guys.
