- 0:00Speaker 1: I'm in Mexico again. I'm sort of in and out
- 0:02Speaker 1: of the place a lot. You know, I'm traveling between
- 0:05Speaker 1: the Northern Hemisphere, Europe and back here and South America.
- 0:09Speaker 1: And that's one of the reasons why I like Mexico
- 0:11Speaker 1: is central. You've got North America, South America. You've got
- 0:15Speaker 1: Central America where I am, and then they've got Europe
- 0:18Speaker 1: just across the Atlantic and Asia and whatever.
- 0:22Speaker 2: So that's it. Are you coming back down here anytime soon?
- 0:27Speaker 3: I'm going to be back around Christmas time.
- 0:33Speaker 1: One, because it's good to be back in summer, to
- 0:35Speaker 1: have Christmas in the summertime. But I've got more recording
- 0:38Speaker 1: to do, and that's really fantastic with the boys from Rabbit.
- 0:43Speaker 3: But it's going to be Dave Evans' songs.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Actually, there's I'm like a split personality, there's Rabbit, and
- 0:56Speaker 1: so it was so fantastic to do a Rabbit album
- 0:59Speaker 1: after all this time. But I've kept in touch with
- 1:01Speaker 1: the boys anyway, because they've been instrumental in a couple
- 1:04Speaker 1: of my albums. Yeah, the Ciner album and Judgment Day
- 1:07Speaker 1: album I wrote. I wrote the songs with Mark Tinson
- 1:11Speaker 1: and and the boys. David Hines and they said of
- 1:14Speaker 1: were on different songs. So I've kept in touch with
- 1:17Speaker 1: them as far as songwriting and recording is concerned.
- 1:21Speaker 3: But this is Rabbit, and it sounds like rabbit.
- 1:24Speaker 2: That's it. That's it. And not to mention, it's been
- 1:27Speaker 2: fifty years of Rabbit. How crazy is that when you.
- 1:30Speaker 3: Look back to that.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Yeah, did you.
- 1:33Speaker 4: Ever imagine you'd still be tearing it up half a
- 1:35Speaker 4: century later?
- 1:40Speaker 3: Well, you know, we didn't really look that far ahead. Yeah,
- 1:44Speaker 3: you know, when we're.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Young, you're just like you, you, what do you think
- 1:47Speaker 1: you're going to be doing?
- 1:48Speaker 3: You're not thinking that far ahead. Yeah, you're just just
- 1:51Speaker 3: rocking and hoping that it's going to last.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Is hoping it's going to last because you see so
- 1:57Speaker 1: many artists over the millennium, they only lasted so long.
- 2:02Speaker 1: You know, even your favorite favorite favorite, the Beatles, don't.
- 2:05Speaker 1: They didn't last that long when you think about it,
- 2:07Speaker 1: you know, and there's only a few bands like ac DC,
- 2:10Speaker 1: of course it's like fifty two years and many that
- 2:16Speaker 1: have lasted that long. So you're always hoping that you're gonna,
- 2:21Speaker 1: you know, last another.
- 2:22Speaker 3: Year, Yeah, another year and another year, that sort of thing.
- 2:26Speaker 1: But but I'm so lucky, lucky in a sense. But
- 2:32Speaker 1: I decided to go solo years ago, and that gave
- 2:35Speaker 1: me freedom to go anywhere I wanted in the world
- 2:39Speaker 1: and record with anybody I wanted in the world.
- 2:42Speaker 3: And if somebody gave me the ships, I said see.
- 2:44Speaker 1: You later, bye bye, and no problem, no problems, no problems.
- 2:50Speaker 1: So that gave me absolute autonomy.
- 2:52Speaker 3: Freedom.
- 2:53Speaker 1: And of course when I do travel around the world,
- 2:56Speaker 1: I use different musicians in different countries, so I don't
- 2:59Speaker 1: take a band with me. Yeah that's expensive. Yes, all
- 3:03Speaker 1: those air fairs and stuff like that, for get it.
- 3:05Speaker 1: It's just Dave and the boys. They're my fans.
- 3:08Speaker 3: Anyway, They're waiting for me in all the countries around
- 3:09Speaker 3: the planet. They're my fans.
- 3:10Speaker 1: I love my music, so they're all enthusiastics scens I
- 3:13Speaker 1: write yeah this, yeah, yes, So it's a really cool
- 3:17Speaker 1: and I get to write songs with other people, write
- 3:22Speaker 1: my own music by myself. I still write songs with
- 3:25Speaker 1: Mark Tinson from Australia and record with different musicians and
- 3:30Speaker 1: different producers from around the planet as well. So it's
- 3:33Speaker 1: really interesting and busy.
- 3:36Speaker 4: Yeah, I feel like you've done this whole musician in
- 3:38Speaker 4: a really smart way by having different musicians all over
- 3:41Speaker 4: the world, like you were saying, join you, rather than
- 3:44Speaker 4: plugging everyone.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Yeah, that's awesome.
- 3:48Speaker 3: Absolutely, And I figured that out years and years ago.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Like with ac DC, all the hassles I had there
- 3:54Speaker 1: and different band members and all the bullshit that was
- 3:57Speaker 1: going on and managers all that stuff.
- 3:59Speaker 3: It was like stuck with these people all the time,
- 4:02Speaker 3: you know.
- 4:02Speaker 1: And uh, and then with Rabbit, I love I love
- 4:07Speaker 1: the boys and Rabbit, but you're stuck with each other
- 4:09Speaker 1: all the time.
- 4:10Speaker 3: You're get on. It does nerves a little bit at times.
- 4:12Speaker 3: We do. It's just you know, if you get married,
- 4:14Speaker 3: I guess you know. That's why people have three or
- 4:17Speaker 3: four marriages. They can't stay itself after a while. They
- 4:20Speaker 3: might even love each other, but they can't handle it
- 4:22Speaker 3: any longer.
- 4:23Speaker 1: So the way I live, I thought, no, I'm going
- 4:26Speaker 1: to just be solo. It gives me complete autonomy. I
- 4:30Speaker 1: can do whatever kind of music I wish right, my
- 4:32Speaker 1: own stuff, and be with so many different musicians and
- 4:37Speaker 1: keep me absolutely rocket, you know, because I'm meeting you guys,
- 4:42Speaker 1: and it's like, right, guys, pe DC, power, energy, dynamics, conviction,
- 4:46Speaker 1: let's go and they go, yeah, yeah, So it's always
- 4:50Speaker 1: enthusiastic all the time. And they're so excited when I
- 4:52Speaker 1: arrived in different countries, they're so excited.
- 4:56Speaker 3: Because that makes me excited, you know, all the time.
- 4:58Speaker 3: So it's really been fantastic.
- 5:01Speaker 2: But yeah, that's awesome.
- 5:02Speaker 4: And what made you get back with Mark and say
- 5:05Speaker 4: let's do another Rabbit album.
- 5:07Speaker 3: Well it's his, it was his idea.
- 5:11Speaker 1: And because we were working all the time together doing
- 5:14Speaker 1: stuff and always in touch with each other like always
- 5:18Speaker 1: have been.
- 5:19Speaker 3: And he just said, look at bad time.
- 5:21Speaker 1: We did a Rabbit album, Dave, you know, like, and
- 5:23Speaker 1: I thought, yeah that.
- 5:26Speaker 3: I thought, yeah, I thought.
- 5:27Speaker 1: About it really and and it was time really to
- 5:31Speaker 1: do another Rabbit album because Rabbit's a great band. It's
- 5:34Speaker 1: a party band, baby, it's party time, you know. And
- 5:37Speaker 1: it's always been like that. A Rabbit hit the stage,
- 5:40Speaker 1: the whole place just goes nuts and happy and that's
- 5:43Speaker 1: rock this thing, you know, And that's been Rabbit's whole
- 5:46Speaker 1: image the whole time. And and I said, yeah, the
- 5:50Speaker 1: world needs.
- 5:52Speaker 3: Rappit at the moment instead of all.
- 5:55Speaker 1: This grunge stuff, all you death metal and all this
- 5:58Speaker 1: bloody crap stuff, you know.
- 6:00Speaker 3: Like put your risks music.
- 6:04Speaker 1: No, the world needs rabbit, all right, let's rock and
- 6:08Speaker 1: because I do that anyway, you know. But yeah, so
- 6:12Speaker 1: I thought this, it's great and the boys are up
- 6:14Speaker 1: for it, and it's a it's just happy.
- 6:17Speaker 3: It's a happy, happy, happy album. And it's rock and roll.
- 6:20Speaker 3: Baby sexy and tough. That's chicky and tough. Yeah, that's
- 6:24Speaker 3: rock and roll. I love that.
- 6:26Speaker 2: And you've been a part of it is You've definitely
- 6:31Speaker 2: been a.
- 6:31Speaker 4: Part of Ossie rock history since day one, from original
- 6:34Speaker 4: a CDC days back to Rapit and beyond.
- 6:36Speaker 2: What's the biggest difference between the rock scene then and now, Well.
- 6:42Speaker 1: There was a lot more bands back in those days,
- 6:44Speaker 1: and there was because we didn't have the Internet, and
- 6:48Speaker 1: everybody went out. Everybody went out, mammos out of their house.
- 6:51Speaker 1: No one's stuck around at home. What's there TV? So
- 6:56Speaker 1: we all were.
- 6:57Speaker 3: Out everywhere, and there were so many bands, millions.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Of bands, different types of bands, all trying to get
- 7:03Speaker 1: a record deal because there wasn't many record labels, hardly
- 7:08Speaker 1: any in those days.
- 7:09Speaker 3: So if you signed, you were like touched by God yep.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Overnight, you were God overnight, and you're almost guaranteed to
- 7:20Speaker 1: get radio airplay too in those days, because as I said,
- 7:23Speaker 1: there wasn't many record labels and there was a quota
- 7:27Speaker 1: that the radio stations had to meet legally they had
- 7:33Speaker 1: to have like twenty five percent of wherever it was
- 7:35Speaker 1: Australian content that was legal.
- 7:37Speaker 3: Yep, they had to do it.
- 7:39Speaker 1: And so you knew you get a record out there
- 7:42Speaker 1: with a record label, you're just about guaranteed you're going
- 7:45Speaker 1: to get airplay. So that was so that was the goal,
- 7:49Speaker 1: the impossible dream to sign for the label when you're
- 7:53Speaker 1: starting off from nowhere, you know. And so, and it
- 7:58Speaker 1: was competitive, really competitive, and you had to be different.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Every band had to have its own gimmick to stand
- 8:06Speaker 1: out from the other lot. The music as well, and
- 8:11Speaker 1: it was diverse. So you could go out to check
- 8:13Speaker 1: As nightclub or something in Sydney and see fight for
- 8:17Speaker 1: bands as different types of bands and exciting, some boring
- 8:20Speaker 1: of course whatever, it doesn't matter.
- 8:22Speaker 3: They were trying their best at this.
- 8:23Speaker 1: The different clothes on them and the music will be different,
- 8:26Speaker 1: different instruments.
- 8:27Speaker 3: It was interesting all the time, and.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Everybody was vying to try and get this record deal.
- 8:33Speaker 1: That was like the impossible and you know, Lucky for
- 8:37Speaker 1: some of us, we managed to do that. And the
- 8:41Speaker 1: thing was also, if you didn't make it by the
- 8:43Speaker 1: time you were twenty five, it was over.
- 8:45Speaker 3: Yeah, it was over for it. Yeah, gone, Maybe you're
- 8:48Speaker 3: too old. And if you look at.
- 8:50Speaker 1: All the bands, the Beatles and the Rystones, they're all
- 8:52Speaker 1: twenty one, twenty two, twenty they were young guys. All
- 8:55Speaker 1: the bands were, you know, twenty five was old over
- 8:58Speaker 1: the hill and that, and that's what made you work
- 9:02Speaker 1: so hard. In twenty twenty one. You got I've got
- 9:05Speaker 1: about four or five years to make it. You'll be
- 9:07Speaker 1: in bands for as long as you like. But to
- 9:09Speaker 1: make it, they had to do it. By twenty five.
- 9:12Speaker 3: That was it. And so it was manic. You were.
- 9:15Speaker 3: That's all you thought about.
- 9:16Speaker 1: You're out every night watching the other bands, writing songs, talking,
- 9:19Speaker 1: trying to get the combination together, the magic combination.
- 9:23Speaker 3: You know, the beat the right guys. It was exciting,
- 9:27Speaker 3: That's that's what it was.
- 9:28Speaker 1: And but now, well, just all the guys I live
- 9:32Speaker 1: home with, live at home with their mum and dad,
- 9:34Speaker 1: a lot of them, you know, it's not exciting. And
- 9:37Speaker 1: the record labels these days they've got control again, and
- 9:40Speaker 1: all the bands sound the same, you know, they want
- 9:42Speaker 1: to they want a sameness.
- 9:43Speaker 3: So that so right now, the record labels, there's millions
- 9:46Speaker 3: of them out there.
- 9:47Speaker 1: Whatever, they're dictating to the bands what they want, and
- 9:50Speaker 1: so you're conforming to what the bands want.
- 9:53Speaker 3: The record labels won lot. It wasn't the fifties. A
- 9:56Speaker 3: lot of the time.
- 9:57Speaker 1: The guys all sort of looked the same and did
- 9:59Speaker 1: the same thing. And the songwriters for them, songwriters for them.
- 10:03Speaker 1: They didn't write their own songs. Elvis didn't write songs. Well,
- 10:06Speaker 1: some of them did, but not a lot. So you know,
- 10:12Speaker 1: if I was a young guy starting off today.
- 10:14Speaker 3: I don't know how you look at it.
- 10:17Speaker 1: You know, it's like there's a lot of labels out there,
- 10:19Speaker 1: but a lot of them they're no good.
- 10:21Speaker 3: They don't do anything for you. They're just nominal.
- 10:24Speaker 1: A website you're on there, they don't promote it. They've
- 10:27Speaker 1: got no money. They got no money, and you've got
- 10:30Speaker 1: to have money to promote. And that's what I'm saying.
- 10:32Speaker 1: So CBS Records, I signed with Rabbit. You know, they're
- 10:36Speaker 1: one of the biggest labels in the world. They were
- 10:38Speaker 1: CBS Records. They had money to spend.
- 10:40Speaker 3: You know, yeah, and so it's it's a lot. It's
- 10:46Speaker 3: different these days, but lucky, lucky for me. I don't
- 10:50Speaker 3: worry about it. I'll do what I'm doing. And yeah,
- 10:52Speaker 3: I did it.
- 10:53Speaker 1: I already did that years and years and years ago.
- 10:55Speaker 1: But you're still today even now. You're only as good
- 10:59Speaker 1: as your last show, only as good as your last show,
- 11:02Speaker 1: and only as good as your last record, and as
- 11:05Speaker 1: good as your last record. So we've got the new
- 11:08Speaker 1: album out now, Defenders of Rock. It's got to be great.
- 11:11Speaker 1: It can't be just oh rappers put out an album
- 11:13Speaker 1: ball dust. It's got to be great. Yeah, and we're
- 11:17Speaker 1: mindful of that too. So every song a killer, no
- 11:20Speaker 1: song a filler, right, as Dave evers motto, all my
- 11:23Speaker 1: albums a killer, no song, filler.
- 11:28Speaker 4: I love that what it's to live by. And look,
- 11:30Speaker 4: the songs are quite short and they're punchy. Was that
- 11:33Speaker 4: a conscious effort, Yeah.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that's that's the way I do it with
- 11:38Speaker 1: my live shows too, the because bang, there's the song,
- 11:42Speaker 1: next one bang, then the next one bang, and every
- 11:46Speaker 1: song a different story, every song, a different story, different feel.
- 11:50Speaker 3: So you're exciting the crowd all the time. The next
- 11:53Speaker 3: song Okay, let's go. It's okay, what's the next one,
- 11:56Speaker 3: what's the next one?
- 11:58Speaker 1: Smiling rock on a and with this particular story and
- 12:01Speaker 1: you get that emotion going. Yeah, with a different riff.
- 12:04Speaker 1: And Mark Tinson from Rabbit, he's a riff master. He's
- 12:08Speaker 1: a king of all riffs. They called me the King
- 12:09Speaker 1: of all badasses. Yeah, that's what Texans called me. I
- 12:12Speaker 1: lived in Texas for ten years and that's what they
- 12:15Speaker 1: called Dave. They when you're the king of all badasses.
- 12:18Speaker 1: And and Mark Tinson, he's the king of all riffs.
- 12:21Speaker 1: He's just got a million of riffs. He's just an
- 12:23Speaker 1: amazing guy. He's got fantastic riffs. So it's important you
- 12:30Speaker 1: have great rifts, you know, great hook lines, great hook
- 12:33Speaker 1: lines in your song that they sing as soon as
- 12:35Speaker 1: they hear it the first time. When you come around
- 12:37Speaker 1: to the chorus the second time, they're singing it, waiting
- 12:40Speaker 1: for it.
- 12:40Speaker 3: They're singing that song. And that that was the secret.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Of Ozzie Rock all those years ago. The secret of
- 12:46Speaker 1: Ossie Rock was that chorus. And we got that from
- 12:49Speaker 1: bands like Slade. When Slade came out to Australia, they
- 12:52Speaker 1: blew us away Slade was just the most incredible.
- 12:55Speaker 3: Band we've ever seen. They live, They took the live.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Pub scene from England to the big stage and we learned, Wow,
- 13:05Speaker 1: it was fantastic. We learned from that and and that's
- 13:08Speaker 1: where a lot of the Aussie rock came from, that
- 13:12Speaker 1: English pub rock that we love when we saw them
- 13:15Speaker 1: come out here and and so the same now. The
- 13:18Speaker 1: songs are short to the point, get them excited, and
- 13:22Speaker 1: then you stop the clap, let them clap, let them clap, and.
- 13:26Speaker 3: They clap, they go crazy, and then you go you're smiling.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Yeah, and then they're waiting for the next song, Yeah,
- 13:31Speaker 1: waiting for the next.
- 13:32Speaker 3: One, and you give it to them. Power of that.
- 13:34Speaker 1: And that's what's great about the short songs like that.
- 13:38Speaker 1: A long song with what another lead breaks like, yeah,
- 13:42Speaker 1: I know you can play guitar. I know that.
- 13:45Speaker 3: He showed us that in the first song.
- 13:47Speaker 1: Yes, first song and so no uh and that's the
- 13:54Speaker 1: secret of Ossie rock.
- 13:57Speaker 3: Years ago it was like that, even excited and I
- 14:01Speaker 3: still do it.
- 14:02Speaker 2: Yeah. I was just about to say, you've got so.
- 14:04Speaker 4: Much energy, Dave, how do you how do you kept
- 14:06Speaker 4: that alive all these.
- 14:08Speaker 3: I don't know, baby, I have no idea. It's just
- 14:11Speaker 3: it's always like that, has always been like that. Yeah,
- 14:14Speaker 3: and everybody says the.
- 14:15Speaker 1: Same thing as young They all say the same thing
- 14:18Speaker 1: around the world.
- 14:19Speaker 3: Where the hell do you get your energy from? I said,
- 14:21Speaker 3: I don't know, and I don't how do I know?
- 14:26Speaker 4: It's awesome, it's a gift. Look, you've seen Trent's come
- 14:31Speaker 4: and go grums, new metal, indie e truning. But rock
- 14:34Speaker 4: really never dies. What do you think keeps rock alive?
- 14:39Speaker 3: People like me? Yes, people like me? Yeah. I mean
- 14:43Speaker 3: there's not many of us left. And but the ones
- 14:46Speaker 3: that are like me from the old school, the real
- 14:48Speaker 3: real rockers we grew up with it.
- 14:51Speaker 1: Look, I was at school kid at school, rock and
- 14:54Speaker 1: roll was real rockers in the town were real guys,
- 14:58Speaker 1: and they walk around town looking so cool and the
- 15:01Speaker 1: hair slipped back, the purple shirts and stuff, and it
- 15:05Speaker 1: was like wow, you know, and you didn't mess with
- 15:08Speaker 1: these guys because they could know.
- 15:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:11Speaker 1: And so what I always say is rock and roll
- 15:14Speaker 1: guys they're sexy and tough, and they weren't.
- 15:17Speaker 3: They were sexy on purpose, like yeah, sexy, and they had.
- 15:21Speaker 1: To be tough because the guys in the town would
- 15:24Speaker 1: come up, you go, yeah, what do you want to
- 15:26Speaker 1: and what's it to you?
- 15:27Speaker 3: Man? Bang cop that?
- 15:29Speaker 1: So I used to say the boys they wanted to
- 15:32Speaker 1: be like the rockers, and the girls wanted to be
- 15:37Speaker 1: with the rocks.
- 15:38Speaker 3: That's it, yeah, baby, the boys wanted to be like them.
- 15:42Speaker 3: They couldn't they're too scared to be like them, yea,
- 15:44Speaker 3: and the girls wanted to be with them. Yeah.
- 15:46Speaker 1: And that's sexy and tough, and that's real rock rock
- 15:49Speaker 1: and roll, and that's still alive today. And I have
- 15:53Speaker 1: to roll my sleeves up and still yeah. Yeah, that's
- 15:59Speaker 1: why a role I did that school and you'll show
- 16:02Speaker 1: your muscles. Let's rock and roll, baby.
- 16:04Speaker 3: So what I'm saying is I'm real. I'm a real guy.
- 16:06Speaker 3: I'm a real rock and roller. Yeah, And that's it.
- 16:10Speaker 1: I'm not pretending, you know, I'm I'm in a hotel
- 16:13Speaker 1: room here in Mexico. I dropped my slaves, rolled up,
- 16:17Speaker 1: There's no one to see me except me, and that's
- 16:21Speaker 1: that's enough.
- 16:23Speaker 2: That's it. I don't think anyone could question that about you, Dave.
- 16:26Speaker 4: And look, you've also got former Roase tattoo drummers Scott Johnson.
- 16:30Speaker 2: On Let's get loud. How did that collapse come out?
- 16:33Speaker 2: And what did he bring to the mix?
- 16:35Speaker 3: The guy, I don't know. I didn't even know he
- 16:37Speaker 3: was on it until not long ago because they put
- 16:39Speaker 3: the music. No, I didn't know, because they put the
- 16:42Speaker 3: music down to a lot of this stuff and uh.
- 16:45Speaker 1: And I flew from from wherever I was in the
- 16:48Speaker 1: world to Australia last Christmas, just for a few weeks.
- 16:53Speaker 1: I was here and while I was here, I went
- 16:56Speaker 1: up to Newcastle to to mark Tints and studio and
- 17:02Speaker 1: then he had the music all down for all the
- 17:04Speaker 1: songs already down. Most of it was already down, so
- 17:08Speaker 1: I just had to sing sing the songs, which I
- 17:11Speaker 1: knocked him over like that band band band, But they're
- 17:13Speaker 1: all done. I don't take any any time to do
- 17:16Speaker 1: it because I've been doing it all my life.
- 17:17Speaker 3: I know what to do.
- 17:18Speaker 1: And and I didn't know who was on the drug
- 17:21Speaker 1: because Phil screens that drummer. Phil's not well, he's not
- 17:26Speaker 1: you know, he's got eyesight problems. He's got blind something
- 17:31Speaker 1: like that, and so he's the only non original in
- 17:34Speaker 1: the band.
- 17:35Speaker 3: Only because he's very very ill.
- 17:37Speaker 1: We still said, come and play, don't worry about it.
- 17:40Speaker 3: He can do it by braille or something. I just
- 17:46Speaker 3: hit a tambourine or some bad thing. But he didn't.
- 17:49Speaker 3: He said no, no, I won't be on the album.
- 17:51Speaker 1: So so apparently there's like three different drummers on the
- 17:56Speaker 1: album and uh and Scott's one of the drummers. He's
- 17:59Speaker 1: an x X rose tattoo drama. So that's nice, you know,
- 18:04Speaker 1: to have that. So that's something I didn't even know
- 18:07Speaker 1: about Angela until I, yeah, a few days ago.
- 18:12Speaker 3: We can go something.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Oh my god, wow, oh yeah. Yeah, so it's cool.
- 18:18Speaker 1: I'm so busy. And the music sounded good to me. Yeah,
- 18:21Speaker 1: it's like it yeah, could have been feel, could have
- 18:24Speaker 1: been Phil playing.
- 18:25Speaker 2: You know, was there anything on the album?
- 18:28Speaker 4: Then, having said that that you excluded that you listened
- 18:31Speaker 4: to and you're like.
- 18:32Speaker 3: Nah, everything was great. Everything was fantastic. It's like falling
- 18:38Speaker 3: off a log. This stuff with us. We've been doing
- 18:41Speaker 3: it for so.
- 18:41Speaker 1: Long and I've been writing songs with Mark Tinson for
- 18:44Speaker 1: years and we have a complete understanding.
- 18:47Speaker 3: There's no arguments about anything.
- 18:51Speaker 1: We know exactly what we want the lyrics and stuff,
- 18:54Speaker 1: and the feel that it's just old school and like
- 19:00Speaker 1: it's like I had I don't know so many songs
- 19:03Speaker 1: to do, and it was just like doing a gig.
- 19:05Speaker 3: I didn't have to.
- 19:06Speaker 1: Go over this line and over that line. I just
- 19:08Speaker 1: got up and sang that song. I knew it was
- 19:11Speaker 1: about me. Yeah, I know that, let's go baby.
- 19:14Speaker 3: And we did. We just rocked it and he rocked it.
- 19:17Speaker 3: And that was like doing a gig.
- 19:19Speaker 2: Yeah, that's awesome.
- 19:21Speaker 3: Yeah, you know.
- 19:22Speaker 1: How to do it, you know, don't do it at all.
- 19:25Speaker 1: So it was just really fantastic.
- 19:27Speaker 3: It was great fun and that was the whole point.
- 19:29Speaker 1: It was fun, fun, fun, fun, fun, and so it
- 19:33Speaker 1: didn't take long at all.
- 19:35Speaker 3: And it was funny.
- 19:38Speaker 2: That's wicked. That's so good.
- 19:40Speaker 4: And in your quote you said this record makes a
- 19:43Speaker 4: statement about the state of wrong today.
- 19:45Speaker 2: What's that statement loud and clear?
- 19:47Speaker 1: Well, well, as I was saying before, a lot of
- 19:50Speaker 1: the music it's you know, they rock hard, all that
- 19:54Speaker 1: sort of stuff, but it's pretty morose, you know. I
- 19:57Speaker 1: see the audience is all around the planet everywhere, and
- 20:01Speaker 1: you know, they don't get a lot of they don't
- 20:03Speaker 1: get big.
- 20:03Speaker 3: Crowds at some of these gigs.
- 20:05Speaker 1: They don't and and the music's sort of pretaked down.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Really you know it's dark and and uh, and the
- 20:15Speaker 1: crowds are just sort of you know, they're not happy
- 20:19Speaker 1: that the bands, the bands themselves, the guys in the
- 20:24Speaker 1: bands themselves are not like us.
- 20:26Speaker 3: We're enthusiastic, we're gonna do it. Yeah, that's right.
- 20:31Speaker 1: That that was the way we were back in that generation. Uh,
- 20:35Speaker 1: we've got problems, like, no problem, it's going to fix.
- 20:38Speaker 3: The damn thing and get on with them.
- 20:39Speaker 1: And so the kids today, the younger ones, I see them,
- 20:44Speaker 1: they're just but with my music, my personal news. Dave
- 20:47Speaker 1: Evans music, badass rock and rabbit. Now they're not like that.
- 20:50Speaker 1: Mos are not what I walk out and go, that's right, baby,
- 20:54Speaker 1: and smile and what they're doing they smile and back,
- 20:56Speaker 1: come on.
- 20:57Speaker 3: Smile yeah yeah, yeah, yeah yeah yeah. And we rock
- 21:00Speaker 3: rock rock.
- 21:01Speaker 1: I'm sexy and tough. I say, I say, where sexy
- 21:03Speaker 1: and tough? Don't forget it? And the crowd love that.
- 21:06Speaker 3: Of course, they go, where's sexy and tough?
- 21:08Speaker 1: I said, that's right, and they will love it, baby,
- 21:11Speaker 1: And they all show me their muscles so calm boys.
- 21:14Speaker 3: Crowd will go like that.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:16Speaker 3: And the girls and all the girls go like that too.
- 21:19Speaker 1: Yeah, they do they all go yeah, and that's all positive,
- 21:23Speaker 1: great stuff.
- 21:24Speaker 3: Yeah, and get the crowd involved like we used to do.
- 21:28Speaker 2: That's it used to that's it is. Bring the energy.
- 21:32Speaker 3: That's what we did.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Yeah, and I still do it.
- 21:35Speaker 4: Look, you've played in so many places around the world.
- 21:39Speaker 4: What's your favorite crowd where.
- 21:41Speaker 1: That doesn't matter? My favorite crowd. And the thing is,
- 21:44Speaker 1: you know, people say, what's your favorite crowd? Were they
- 21:46Speaker 1: a good crowd?
- 21:47Speaker 3: You know?
- 21:47Speaker 1: I say, yeah, they were a good crowd because I
- 21:50Speaker 1: made them into a good crowd exactly. That's the answer.
- 21:54Speaker 1: I made them into a good crowd. What are they
- 21:55Speaker 1: good crowd? Yeah, they're all waiting to rock I walked
- 21:57Speaker 1: on the way crowd. Okay, they're like that too when
- 22:02Speaker 1: they see me. Yes, they do scream and yell. But
- 22:05Speaker 1: that's the same everywhere. But you it's up to you
- 22:08Speaker 1: to make them into a fantastic crowd.
- 22:10Speaker 3: That's my job. And say come, are you sexy and
- 22:14Speaker 3: tough roppers? And they go, yeah, we are mayby with
- 22:19Speaker 3: you smiling, smiling, and so.
- 22:21Speaker 2: Are they Yeah.
- 22:22Speaker 1: And when they leave my show, they've been rock hard
- 22:24Speaker 1: and they're just happy. And that one word you asked
- 22:27Speaker 1: about the difference between bands these days.
- 22:29Speaker 3: I go out there to make them happy exactly. Yeah.
- 22:35Speaker 3: That's one word that they don't ask anymore. Those rock
- 22:38Speaker 3: and whatever. I go to make them happy. Yeah. Yeah.
- 22:42Speaker 1: People don't even ask that question. I say to people,
- 22:44Speaker 1: you're happy, You're happy? Now, I ask people that question.
- 22:47Speaker 1: They say, yeah, nobody asks anybody.
- 22:49Speaker 3: If they're happy. Ever, how you doing, You're right? How
- 22:53Speaker 3: you okay? Are you're fine? Fine? No one says, hey,
- 22:58Speaker 3: are you happy?
- 23:00Speaker 1: They don't ask that word, but I do, and I
- 23:03Speaker 1: appreciate it. They go, oh yeah that you ask me?
- 23:07Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, not too bad. Yeah. Happy, that's
- 23:13Speaker 3: the word.
- 23:14Speaker 1: And so some magic and so I asked people are
- 23:18Speaker 1: you happy?
- 23:19Speaker 3: And they go, well, not really? I said why, what's wrong? Yeah,
- 23:23Speaker 3: And they'll tell you.
- 23:23Speaker 1: They all they've got somebody to talk to, yeah, someone
- 23:27Speaker 1: to cry on the shoulder, and they go, well this happened,
- 23:31Speaker 1: and said it'll be okay. Yeah, I can fix that.
- 23:34Speaker 1: If you can fix it, you will, You said, I
- 23:36Speaker 1: can fix that here there. Are you happy now?
- 23:39Speaker 3: Yeah? Now, yeah, I'm happy. Now that's roight. Yeah. It's
- 23:45Speaker 3: a great word to use for people. Question are you happy?
- 23:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm going to start using that now. I love that, And.
- 23:55Speaker 1: Yeah, are you happy? And you can make people happy
- 23:57Speaker 1: and they love you forever. Listen, they're just going to
- 24:00Speaker 1: say if you make people happy, yeah, they love you
- 24:03Speaker 1: to make them happy.
- 24:07Speaker 3: That so much.
- 24:08Speaker 4: And finally, Dave, when you look back at the young
- 24:10Speaker 4: Blok fronting ac DC in seventy three, what would you
- 24:13Speaker 4: tell him now fifty years on, I'm still belting it
- 24:15Speaker 4: out the same fire.
- 24:20Speaker 3: Rockin days. Just keep rocking, That's what I'd say, because
- 24:23Speaker 3: I am.
- 24:24Speaker 1: I'm still Dan Rocken with a lot of them are
- 24:26Speaker 1: long un so just keep rocking. In fact, in fact,
- 24:30Speaker 1: I got some advice when I was with a rabbit
- 24:32Speaker 1: from a one of the top agents, a guy called
- 24:37Speaker 1: Jimmy Towers. He's one of the top agents in Sydney,
- 24:41Speaker 1: and after a show one of his favorites, he loved us.
- 24:45Speaker 1: He said to me after the show, said Dave, I'll
- 24:47Speaker 1: give you some advice. I said what he said to
- 24:50Speaker 1: be successful? He said, just keep being busy. Busy, busy, activity, activity, activity.
- 24:58Speaker 3: People have got to.
- 24:58Speaker 1: See you doing stuff all the time. Act no matter
- 25:01Speaker 1: it's big or small, it doesn't matter. Just do something
- 25:05Speaker 1: and then people will know that you're popular. And when
- 25:07Speaker 1: you're popular. They all want you.
- 25:09Speaker 3: That's the advice that Jimmy gave me and I'll give
- 25:12Speaker 3: you and.
- 25:13Speaker 1: All your listeners of viewers to keep busy. Activity, activity, activity.
- 25:22Speaker 2: Never stop, never stop.
- 25:24Speaker 3: Love that.
- 25:25Speaker 2: Oh Dave, we loved it as a rock. Congrats on
- 25:29Speaker 2: fifty years with Robert. We hope to thank you, Thank you.

- 25:36Speaker 3: really appreciate it very much. Thank you all right, Sex,
