- 0:00Speaker 1: With Stu Gotts and Hawkman. It's been a minute since
- 0:04Speaker 1: we did a with Stu Gotts and Hawkman. But I
- 0:06Speaker 1: probably should warn people summer is going to mean fewer
- 0:11Speaker 1: shows because I just I was in Vegas with my son.
- 0:16Speaker 1: He graduated from college. We went to Vegas for a
- 0:18Speaker 1: few nights, and then what happens when you get back
- 0:21Speaker 1: from Vegas You're sick? Yeah, and then I couldn't do
- 0:25Speaker 1: any shows. Yeah. And then and I'm gonna be traveling
- 0:28Speaker 1: a lot this summer as well. I'm guessing you are too.
- 0:32Speaker 1: I'll be traveling a lot. Yeah.
- 0:33Speaker 2: In in fact, I'm traveling this weekend to Chicago. My daughter's
- 0:37Speaker 2: graduating from Northwestern. So wait, you graduate, Your son graduated,
- 0:41Speaker 2: and you took him away as a.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Gift to Las Vegas for a weekend. Is that the deal? Well,
- 0:47Speaker 1: what happened was one of his roommate's dads, one of
- 0:50Speaker 1: the roommates that he's lived with for all four years.
- 0:54Speaker 1: His dad was like, Hey, I've got, you know, vacation credits.
- 0:57Speaker 1: You know he's in one of these vacation club I've
- 1:00Speaker 1: got vacation credits in Vegas, and I know the boys
- 1:05Speaker 1: would love to go out to Vegas, and so I
- 1:07Speaker 1: was like, yeah, I don't mind going to Vegas. And
- 1:09Speaker 1: so we went for four nights to Vegas. His real
- 1:13Speaker 1: gift because I said, my wife and I said to DJ,
- 1:15Speaker 1: when you graduate, hey, pick a summer vacation. We haven't
- 1:18Speaker 1: last summer vacation we took. We went to Japan, but
- 1:21Speaker 1: that was before COVID. That was like nineteen or twenty
- 1:24Speaker 1: nineteen or twenty twenty. And then so we said, pick
- 1:28Speaker 1: a big, massive trip. We ended up settling on Switzerland
- 1:32Speaker 1: and Milan. And we're leaving in a couple of weeks. Wow,
- 1:36Speaker 1: So that'll be the big one, and then real life.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Then he's got to enter real life, so Vegas, little Europe.
- 1:43Speaker 1: In the meantime, there won't be as many with Stugats
- 1:45Speaker 1: and Hakman podcast I'm not gonna And then my wife
- 1:48Speaker 1: and I this summer after we get back from there,
- 1:50Speaker 1: we're going to Park City, Utah. We're in Nago Valley.
- 1:54Speaker 1: We're doing a whole thing. We're doing a whole thing.
- 1:57Speaker 1: I'm living like I got that McAfee deal for ESPN,
- 2:01Speaker 1: which I got some show notes, some pod notes right
- 2:04Speaker 1: before we went on the air from Taylor who said,
- 2:08Speaker 1: he feels like we're getting close to a fifty sixty
- 2:12Speaker 1: million dollar deal like McAfee got on this particular podcast.
- 2:17Speaker 1: He just said, what I need to step up my game.
- 2:20Speaker 1: We need talk to be just a little better. Yeah,
- 2:22Speaker 1: just a little bit better.
- 2:23Speaker 2: And I will tell you if we get one of
- 2:25Speaker 2: those deals, it will be my second fifty million dollar a.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Year deal, and I'll be just.
- 2:35Speaker 2: You'll be traveling all over the world and I'll be
- 2:38Speaker 2: sitting right here doing pods with Taylor.
- 2:41Speaker 1: I mean, now, I know you and Dan have been
- 2:46Speaker 1: talking about your separation via your individual shows. I've been
- 2:52Speaker 1: following this and again here's the So, here's the thing.
- 2:55Speaker 1: I want to be honest. One of the dms that
- 2:58Speaker 1: I get often, I always tell people you can dm
- 3:00Speaker 1: us here on the podcast by just dming me on
- 3:02Speaker 1: Instagram and I'll I read them all. I try to
- 3:05Speaker 1: respond to them all, and some of them we read
- 3:07Speaker 1: on the pod here. But a lot of people since
- 3:10Speaker 1: we started doing this have DMed what's the deal with
- 3:14Speaker 1: Stu Gotts and Dan. You know, they're pretty well aware
- 3:17Speaker 1: of what my deal is with Dan, which really I
- 3:20Speaker 1: don't have a deal. He just doesn't like me. Your
- 3:25Speaker 1: deal is you're annoying to him. Yeah, I think that's it.
- 3:28Speaker 1: I'm very very annoying. He's gotten to a point where
- 3:31Speaker 1: he wants to remove all annoying people from his life.
- 3:36Speaker 1: But I get constantly via DM what's going on with
- 3:41Speaker 1: Stu Gotts and Dan, like we deserve to know? And
- 3:44Speaker 1: I know you alluded to there's this one demand that
- 3:51Speaker 1: they don't seem to want to acquiesce to. Yeah, and
- 3:54Speaker 1: I happen to know what it is, and I just
- 3:58Speaker 1: want to tell you publicly here. I want to let
- 4:01Speaker 1: you off the hook. The demand has been for my
- 4:03Speaker 1: return to the show, and I appreciate you standing by me.
- 4:07Speaker 1: You two guts, and I want to let you off
- 4:09Speaker 1: the hook. I don't need to return to the show.
- 4:11Speaker 1: And I think that's a real stand up reason for
- 4:14Speaker 1: you to have created this kind of rift well between
- 4:17Speaker 1: you and Dan.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Well, I appreciate that you're worth it. You are worth
- 4:21Speaker 2: all of it, and I don't care if you ever
- 4:23Speaker 2: come back.
- 4:24Speaker 1: I just want you to know that the door is
- 4:26Speaker 1: open for you.
- 4:27Speaker 2: To come back if indeed you would like to do
- 4:30Speaker 2: it on occasion. And that's it, and I won't I listen.
- 4:34Speaker 2: I am prepared to die on this hill. That's something much.
- 4:39Speaker 2: I love you and your influence over our radio show.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Don't aggregate this awful announcing because that is not the demand.
- 4:46Speaker 1: The bullshit, that is not the demand. Stu gott if
- 4:49Speaker 1: he got his demand would literally forget he was doing
- 4:53Speaker 1: a podcast with me within four seconds. I have when
- 4:57Speaker 1: I tell you, there is zero Mark Hakman has zero
- 5:01Speaker 1: part of the rift. I am being one hundred percent.
- 5:05Speaker 1: So do not just bet that we know what the
- 5:11Speaker 1: exactly what it would be. Yes, I hope you guys
- 5:15Speaker 1: work everything out. You know, listen, I've I've said for
- 5:18Speaker 1: years it would be fun if we were all back
- 5:20Speaker 1: together this podcast with Stug Gotts and Hawkman. I've said
- 5:24Speaker 1: this from the jump. This podcast should have been done
- 5:28Speaker 1: under the metal Ark umbrella. Yes, could be done under
- 5:31Speaker 1: the metal Ark umbrella. This has so I mean, it's
- 5:34Speaker 1: everything that I think Metal Lark is all about, which is,
- 5:39Speaker 1: you know, looking back on all the stuff that's been
- 5:42Speaker 1: created under the LeBatard show umbrella, which became the Metal
- 5:46Speaker 1: Ark umbrella. It's kind of a shanda, as we like
- 5:50Speaker 1: to say in Yiddish, that this is not part of
- 5:53Speaker 1: the Metal Arc media empire, but it is what it is,
- 5:56Speaker 1: we still have fun. Uh.
- 5:58Speaker 2: In my opinion, this is, and I'll be honest with
- 6:01Speaker 2: you because I discussed it with Dan, this should this
- 6:05Speaker 2: should have been what the Oral History kind of felt
- 6:08Speaker 2: like when we started doing it. And the reason I say,
- 6:11Speaker 2: Dan kind of agrees with that. We wanted to take
- 6:14Speaker 2: people kind of behind the bit, through the bit what
- 6:16Speaker 2: we were thinking as certain stuff was going on, and
- 6:19Speaker 2: we just kind of veered off in a weird direction.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Well, the thing about the Oral History, I give kudos
- 6:25Speaker 1: to Mike Ryan. He really tried to do a chronological
- 6:28Speaker 1: timeline of something that has so many pieces, and you're
- 6:34Speaker 1: never going to be able to please everyone because you're
- 6:36Speaker 1: never going to get all the favorite moments or all
- 6:39Speaker 1: the stuff that was going on, because it's impossible to
- 6:43Speaker 1: do a chronology something that long. Y. What I like
- 6:48Speaker 1: about this particular podcast is it's free flowing. If we
- 6:52Speaker 1: feel like doing the Jermaine Jackson episode, we do that.
- 6:56Speaker 1: People want to hear the Wannie mcstash episode, we can
- 7:00Speaker 1: do that. Today we're going to play something that's literally
- 7:03Speaker 1: just kind of mundane, random chopping it up on the
- 7:07Speaker 1: Old Lebotard Show, where we're talking about a strip club.
- 7:10Speaker 1: There's no rhyme or reason, but the podcast gives us
- 7:14Speaker 1: this leeway to kind of just do it however we
- 7:17Speaker 1: feel like doing it that particular show.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Yeah, and I'm glad you brought up, Mike. I didn't
- 7:21Speaker 2: want that to come across as criticism of Mike Ryan.
- 7:24Speaker 2: How we went about doing the oral history. It is
- 7:28Speaker 2: a very very tricky task to take on. There are
- 7:32Speaker 2: so many layers, there are so many stories, there are
- 7:34Speaker 2: so many moments, and there's two decades of material to
- 7:38Speaker 2: kind of sift through. And you're right, Mike, who was
- 7:40Speaker 2: very organized, who learned from you and learned very very well,
- 7:45Speaker 2: just tried to do it in a way that kind
- 7:47Speaker 2: of took us from start to end. And I wanted
- 7:49Speaker 2: to take some pauses and kind of live in the
- 7:51Speaker 2: moment some of those moments and relive some of those
- 7:54Speaker 2: moments like we're doing here on the pod. And I'm
- 7:57Speaker 2: just telling you that Dan also wanted to do some
- 7:59Speaker 2: of that. We just forgotten to it.
- 8:00Speaker 1: You know, That's why I say this podcast should be
- 8:03Speaker 1: under the meadow Lark umbrella, because then you know, if
- 8:06Speaker 1: somebody wants to stop by, if Mike Ryan wants to
- 8:09Speaker 1: stop by for a couple of episodes and chop it
- 8:12Speaker 1: up with us about something that he recalls, or if
- 8:15Speaker 1: Rooy wants to pop in and you know, do a
- 8:18Speaker 1: couple of episodes with stuff that he recalls. Like there's
- 8:21Speaker 1: just there's so many arenas that we could entertain, but
- 8:26Speaker 1: it is what it is. I'm still having the best
- 8:28Speaker 1: time doing this because I'm hearing stuff that I haven't
- 8:30Speaker 1: heard in twenty years. Sometimes.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Yeah, it's hard to do an episode on Roy's Top
- 8:34Speaker 2: ten without having Roy kind of chiming in. Oh, I
- 8:37Speaker 2: think he could, right, I think he would, honestly, Yeah,
- 8:41Speaker 2: well Taylor, Taylor's more doubtful.
- 8:44Speaker 1: I will die on this hill. I mean, well, here
- 8:47Speaker 1: are some dms that I've gotten. You can DM me
- 8:50Speaker 1: on Instagram Radio Mark Hakman. These are just some random
- 8:53Speaker 1: dms before we get to the fun and frivolity of
- 8:57Speaker 1: today's episode, which really has nothing to it. It's just
- 9:02Speaker 1: what do you call?
- 9:02Speaker 2: It's just like, uh killer, just like there it's candy
- 9:07Speaker 2: and not really selling it.
- 9:08Speaker 1: I gotta be honest with you because this is one
- 9:10Speaker 1: of those things. The reason I like to make Yes,
- 9:14Speaker 1: the reason I like today's episode is because it's mundane
- 9:17Speaker 1: there's not much. It's like I just happened to hear
- 9:20Speaker 1: this segment that I hadn't heard since it happened, and
- 9:24Speaker 1: I thought it was funny that you and I were
- 9:25Speaker 1: coming back from a night at the Strip club with
- 9:28Speaker 1: the interns, which included Mike Ryan, and I apparently was
- 9:33Speaker 1: calling myself daddy and the strip club. But I didn't
- 9:38Speaker 1: heard this till, you know, a listener to this podcast
- 9:41Speaker 1: sent me the show. I didn't even have this audio,
- 9:43Speaker 1: and I was like, this is mundane. This is just me, you,
- 9:46Speaker 1: Dan and Mike chopping it up on the air, and
- 9:49Speaker 1: it's like, it's fun to listen to.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Yes, isn't it amazing that there are so many years
- 9:56Speaker 2: of material and certain segments will appeal to certain peace people,
- 10:00Speaker 2: whereas those same segments will appeal will not appeal to a.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Different portion of the audience. You just never know.
- 10:09Speaker 2: Like when we were doing this, I was always thinking,
- 10:11Speaker 2: is this entertaining?
- 10:12Speaker 1: Well? People like this?
- 10:14Speaker 2: And there was always a portion of the audience who
- 10:16Speaker 2: liked what it is we were doing.
- 10:18Speaker 1: I don't think we ever.
- 10:19Speaker 2: Reached consensus ever on anything with the audience, but there
- 10:22Speaker 2: was like the things that resonated with certain portions of
- 10:25Speaker 2: our audience was always interesting to me, and I know
- 10:28Speaker 2: the exact semit you're talking about.
- 10:30Speaker 1: I remember feeling like.
- 10:31Speaker 2: Hey, this is really really good what we're doing, but
- 10:34Speaker 2: also wondering, hey, is the audience enjoying this? And I
- 10:37Speaker 2: guess you found someone who did. And that's what I
- 10:39Speaker 2: love about our show.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Yes, I think one of the things that I'm hearing
- 10:42Speaker 1: as I listened to some of these old segments is
- 10:44Speaker 1: a lot of the times it was just mundane conversations
- 10:48Speaker 1: that were enjoyable to listen to. You're in your car
- 10:52Speaker 1: and you're listening, and it's like, Yeah, this is a
- 10:55Speaker 1: fun conversation. And it's not a conversation that you would
- 10:58Speaker 1: ever think about listening to a because it's not memorable.
- 11:01Speaker 1: It's not Jermaine Jackson giving you no answers and then
- 11:05Speaker 1: hanging up at the end. It's not a huge event
- 11:08Speaker 1: like Jannie mcstash is where we fill a quarter deck
- 11:12Speaker 1: with fans of Dave Wanstead who want their chicken tenders
- 11:16Speaker 1: in the shape of chicken mustachees. Like, it's nothing that memorable,
- 11:20Speaker 1: but it was just fun. It's chopping it up, which
- 11:22Speaker 1: I do on my radio show now. I'm sure you
- 11:24Speaker 1: do it on your Fox radio show. But like, some
- 11:26Speaker 1: of the best segments are me and Crowder and Solana
- 11:29Speaker 1: and Jimmy just talking like, have no direction, and a
- 11:34Speaker 1: topic gets started and all of a sudden, it's just
- 11:37Speaker 1: like an enjoyable conversation and you don't mark that conversation,
- 11:42Speaker 1: but all of a sudden, if you were to hear
- 11:43Speaker 1: it again twenty years later, you're like, oh, yeah, I
- 11:46Speaker 1: get why people were listening every day because it's just fun.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Yes, And I think we arrived all of us at
- 11:51Speaker 2: a place where we realized we could have any guests
- 11:54Speaker 2: we wanted, but we realized just the four of us
- 11:57Speaker 2: with the building blocks of the radio show, just around
- 12:00Speaker 2: and chopping it up. It turned out we got so
- 12:03Speaker 2: comfortable with each other and we got to know each
- 12:06Speaker 2: other so well that it turned out like, hey, we
- 12:08Speaker 2: didn't need as many guests because those segments were so good,
- 12:12Speaker 2: and the segments our listeners enjoyed the most wich just
- 12:14Speaker 2: us talking about.
- 12:16Speaker 1: Nonsense that we talked about. Yes, everyone hanging out together,
- 12:19Speaker 1: the listeners and the and the host whatever. It's just
- 12:22Speaker 1: everybody hanging out.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Shooting everyone says Hawk they go into a radio show
- 12:25Speaker 2: and they say, Hey, we want to sound conversational, just
- 12:28Speaker 2: a bunch of friends having a conversation. We actually arrived,
- 12:30Speaker 2: and I'm thankful for it. We arrived at friends having
- 12:33Speaker 2: an actual conversation.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Yes, here are some recent dms I've gotten again. You
- 12:38Speaker 1: can DM me Radio Mark Hakman on Instagram. Hey, Hawk,
- 12:41Speaker 1: I didn't actually listen to the Lebotard Show when you
- 12:43Speaker 1: were the producer. I first heard the show when they
- 12:45Speaker 1: took over the ten am slot on ESPN. I was
- 12:48Speaker 1: hooked instantly, But when I started to hear you and
- 12:50Speaker 1: Stu Gott's on the pod, it made me wish I
- 12:53Speaker 1: had listened to more of the local Miami stuff. Your
- 12:55Speaker 1: imprint on the show was clear even in the ESPN days.
- 12:59Speaker 1: Going from you to Mike Ryan is like going from
- 13:01Speaker 1: Joe Montana to Steve Young, which, by the way, great compliment.
- 13:05Speaker 1: I mean, there was no one more equipped to do
- 13:08Speaker 1: what I was doing than Mike Ryan does it great
- 13:10Speaker 1: to this day. Nothing creative to add, but had to
- 13:13Speaker 1: tell you how much with Stug Gotts and hawkpod makes
- 13:16Speaker 1: me laugh. It's the first time I've regularly laughed this
- 13:19Speaker 1: way since older episodes of The Levatard Show. It's made
- 13:22Speaker 1: me even want to listen to the show that you
- 13:25Speaker 1: do with Crowder and Solero. I'm getting used to it.
- 13:28Speaker 1: There's a little Stu Gotts in everyone. Yeah, there's a
- 13:31Speaker 1: lot of Stu Gotts in Solana y Slea.
- 13:34Speaker 2: Yes, here's a I'm gonna be times as well hawk
- 13:37Speaker 2: and they all just read hanger.
- 13:39Speaker 1: Steak, just a perfectly placed hanger steak. Hey, Mark, thanks
- 13:47Speaker 1: for doing the show with Stu Gotts. It's been fun
- 13:50Speaker 1: seeing and hearing how the spine and brainchilds of the
- 13:53Speaker 1: show I love so much over the years, reminiscing over
- 13:56Speaker 1: the laughs. Been hard to accept all the changes, although
- 13:59Speaker 1: all things do change. As Gilbert Arenas said on Stu's comments,
- 14:05Speaker 1: the most significant breakup of my life. So getting the
- 14:09Speaker 1: show with you two is awesome. Not sure of the
- 14:11Speaker 1: timeline for this bit, but it was one of my favorites.
- 14:14Speaker 1: Were you there when Stu Got's impressions and the caller's
- 14:17Speaker 1: impressions of Christopher Walkin? Thank you again, man, enjoy your
- 14:22Speaker 1: avocado toast. I don't think I was there for your
- 14:25Speaker 1: Christopher Walkin stuff. Did you have any moment? It's my
- 14:27Speaker 1: only impression.
- 14:28Speaker 2: It's a very limited impression, and I just blurt out
- 14:32Speaker 2: the watch.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Oh that's good. That's really good. Thank you, that's excellent.
- 14:39Speaker 1: We close my eyes and see if I actually hear
- 14:41Speaker 1: it as Christopher walkin. All right, hold on the watch.
- 14:46Speaker 1: That's great, nailed it right, Yield it so you can
- 14:53Speaker 1: come out. If we do a live stage show, you
- 14:55Speaker 1: come out, you bang out, hangar steak. Yeah, you bang out,
- 14:59Speaker 1: punished the listeners, and then you throw in a little
- 15:02Speaker 1: of the watch and we hit it. Sixty million a year.
- 15:08Speaker 1: It's right there for us. Another DMK. There's a funny
- 15:12Speaker 1: story about you going to Dan's house for Thanksgiving and
- 15:16Speaker 1: he rolled your newborn son in his stroller into the
- 15:19Speaker 1: middle of the street. Yep, Dan hid behind a car
- 15:23Speaker 1: to make it look like your kid was in his
- 15:25Speaker 1: stroller in the middle of the street with no one watching.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Dan thought that was a good prank to pull on
- 15:30Speaker 1: parents of a newborn. First off, what an idiot. Secondly,
- 15:36Speaker 1: I remember laughing until my stomach hurt listening to YouTube
- 15:39Speaker 1: banter and Levatar trying to justify that your kid was
- 15:42Speaker 1: completely safe in his stroller in the middle of the street.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Not sure that that's a show moment you'd want to discuss,
- 15:48Speaker 1: but it is a memorable one for me. Love the
- 15:51Speaker 1: pod you and Stu are doing. Keep the laughs coming.
- 15:54Speaker 1: I get asked about that all the time. Yes, great,
- 15:59Speaker 1: that was, in my opinion, one of the dumbest fucking
- 16:03Speaker 1: and I call prank loosely pranks that Dan has ever played.
- 16:08Speaker 1: We literally had finished Thanksgiving dinner at his house. My
- 16:12Speaker 1: wife and I new parents are leaving, and so we've
- 16:16Speaker 1: got DJ in the stroller. He's not even a year
- 16:19Speaker 1: old in the stroller, and we're saying goodbye to people
- 16:23Speaker 1: at the door and then I turn around. The stroller's gone,
- 16:27Speaker 1: and I look in the middle of the dark street.
- 16:29Speaker 1: And if you've ever been to his house in Pembroke Pines,
- 16:31Speaker 1: it's a dark it's not a well lit street. In
- 16:34Speaker 1: the middle of the street, the stroller is there. And
- 16:40Speaker 1: then as I'm like, what the fuck is going on here,
- 16:43Speaker 1: and I run out to get the stroller, he jumps
- 16:45Speaker 1: out from behind a car which was near the stroller,
- 16:49Speaker 1: and I'm like, damn, this is the dumbest fucking thing
- 16:51Speaker 1: that I go. You don't know, someone zips around a
- 16:55Speaker 1: corner and he's like, no, I'm right here, right, Yeah,
- 16:59Speaker 1: that sounds really great in theory, until somebody tears around
- 17:03Speaker 1: a corner and barrels into the stroller. Yes, Grant did.
- 17:07Speaker 1: He was not a parent, still isn't No, he does
- 17:09Speaker 1: not understand no, that maybe that wasn't the great Now.
- 17:14Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm not an angry guy, and I didn't
- 17:16Speaker 1: get angry at him. I just kept telling him that's
- 17:19Speaker 1: the dumbest fucking prank that you could pull. And to
- 17:23Speaker 1: this day he's like, no, it was funny. DJ was
- 17:25Speaker 1: never in danger.
- 17:26Speaker 2: Yes, but Dan is acting like as if someone, you know,
- 17:29Speaker 2: if they weren't a scream around the corner going seventy
- 17:32Speaker 2: miles per hour with your son and a stroller in
- 17:34Speaker 2: the middle of the street, that he has this catlike.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Quickness to save your son. Someone's getting taken out, even
- 17:41Speaker 1: the stroller or Dan like, it's just so flawed in
- 17:45Speaker 1: the thinking, huck.
- 17:47Speaker 3: Just to be clear, the stroller, DJ was in the
- 17:50Speaker 3: stroller or Dan had DJ No, okay, he left.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Him in the stroller. No, by the way, the clever
- 17:58Speaker 1: joke having DJ, Yes, have my mom whole DJ Right,
- 18:05Speaker 1: I'm gonna put the stroller in the middle of the
- 18:08Speaker 1: street and we'll all have a laugh.
- 18:10Speaker 2: Yes, throw fake baby in there, like a cabbage patch
- 18:13Speaker 2: kid or something.
- 18:14Speaker 1: I mean, but to throw the stroller with the actual
- 18:18Speaker 1: child in the middle of the.
- 18:20Speaker 2: Street, Yes, it seems like he was just trying to
- 18:23Speaker 2: scare you from behind the car.
- 18:25Speaker 1: Yeah, pretty much, ridiculous.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Pros We'll set the kid down here for a second,
- 18:30Speaker 2: somebody dms Hi Mark, I just wanted to tell you
- 18:33Speaker 2: how much I've been enjoying the Stugats and Hawkman episodes
- 18:35Speaker 2: you guys are doing.
- 18:36Speaker 1: The most recent episode was great. It had all the
- 18:39Speaker 1: highs and lows of local radio, which you and I
- 18:42Speaker 1: were If you remember, at the end of the episode,
- 18:44Speaker 1: we were promoting all those radio show events that were
- 18:46Speaker 1: coming up afterwards. Dan wasn't in studio with us. Then
- 18:49Speaker 1: the awkwardness of Jermaine, paired with the Mohammed Massaqui song
- 18:53Speaker 1: are what makes your episode so much fun. I missed
- 18:56Speaker 1: the DLS days when you were there, but it's a
- 18:59Speaker 1: joy to hear how much you and Stue love radio.
- 19:02Speaker 1: The Massaqui song keeps popping into my head. So for that,
- 19:05Speaker 1: thank you and screw you. My week has been made
- 19:09Speaker 1: both better and slightly worse. Cheers to that. Accomplishment our pleasure.
- 19:14Speaker 2: Yes, that's how you reach out to the show, sir,
- 19:17Speaker 2: we are hey.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Hawk would love to get an episode of Stu gottson
- 19:20Speaker 1: Hawkman highlighting more big opens, maybe a mount rushmore of
- 19:25Speaker 1: your favorites. Hearing Don King's big open made me want
- 19:28Speaker 1: to hear more of the classics. Appreciate you. That's a
- 19:31Speaker 1: great idea, and I DMed him back. I love that.
- 19:34Speaker 1: I have probably a hundred big opens that we've done
- 19:38Speaker 1: over the years, and so we'll do an episode where
- 19:40Speaker 1: we play a bunch of those.
- 19:41Speaker 2: Do you think you could narrow it down to four
- 19:43Speaker 2: to amount rushmore in a way?
- 19:45Speaker 1: Right?
- 19:45Speaker 2: No, No, you'll be traveling. I mean I could sit
- 19:50Speaker 2: home and do it. I don't mind.
- 19:51Speaker 1: I'll do it. If you like it, I can do it,
- 19:53Speaker 1: But I think it would be faulty. I don't think
- 19:54Speaker 1: i'd be being honest. I could do it. I could
- 19:57Speaker 1: knock out four and say these are my four favorite,
- 19:59Speaker 1: But every time I haven't heard in a while, I'm like, oh,
- 20:02Speaker 1: this is fucking right. Been loving the pod with you
- 20:06Speaker 1: and Stu Gott's. Recently, both have answered tough questions regarding
- 20:09Speaker 1: their relationship with that in mind. Is there a potential
- 20:12Speaker 1: path for reconciliation for you and Dan? Like many dls,
- 20:17Speaker 1: has been a huge factor in my life and through
- 20:19Speaker 1: some really tough times and some great times. I've been
- 20:22Speaker 1: listening right before the ESPN days from the seven to
- 20:25Speaker 1: ninety website. I hope one day to hear your three
- 20:29Speaker 1: laughs together again. Possible. I don't discount anything, to be
- 20:33Speaker 1: quite honest, I got no. I have no reservations honestly
- 20:39Speaker 1: about doing shows or episodes with Dan. I think it
- 20:41Speaker 1: would be fun, but I'm standing on a hill until
- 20:44Speaker 1: I die. I mean, that's more on him and you.
- 20:47Speaker 1: The funniest thing of this entire thing would be that
- 20:50Speaker 1: if Dan and I reteam up and you're left standing
- 20:54Speaker 1: on the sidelines, holding holding, holding court, waiting for something
- 21:00Speaker 1: for me to appear back on the show. But then
- 21:02Speaker 1: I just I just do an end around.
- 21:04Speaker 2: And he and Selero. I mean, how about that, Taylor,
- 21:10Speaker 2: would you come with me back to Dan's show?
- 21:13Speaker 1: Uh? It depends. Do I have healthcare this time? I
- 21:17Speaker 1: can't believe you're not right or die with Stu Gotts.
- 21:20Speaker 1: That is a shocking answer. He's thinking about it. God
- 21:23Speaker 1: and all takes his health care. I mean Jesus kind
- 21:28Speaker 1: of a big deal.
- 21:29Speaker 2: I mean, I'm I have taken this kid to Lake Tahoe.
- 21:32Speaker 2: He's going there for his second time. I mean, I
- 21:35Speaker 2: have done right by Tay, he's done right by me.
- 21:37Speaker 2: I've done but that's our industry. He will bail on
- 21:40Speaker 2: me and a hard people. I'm standing on a hill
- 21:42Speaker 2: for Mark Ackman. I mean jez In tract lyme disease.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Take him for a week if that satiates his need
- 21:48Speaker 2: for insurance. And finally, you would take three year old
- 21:55Speaker 2: guy in a.
- 21:56Speaker 1: Small town in Oklahoma that loved the old seven ninety
- 21:59Speaker 1: days even bought a wear Mama at t shirt and
- 22:02Speaker 1: still wear it to this day. You were my favorite
- 22:05Speaker 1: personality on the show because your wit really tickled me.
- 22:08Speaker 1: But just as you were starting to take on a
- 22:09Speaker 1: bigger role, you were gone, Huh, interesting how that happened.
- 22:13Speaker 1: For years, I've been wishing there was a pod like
- 22:16Speaker 1: the one you're doing now with Stugotts. All the old
- 22:19Speaker 1: memories and laughs are really helping me right now as
- 22:21Speaker 1: I'm dealing with depression. The Steven Segall episode is the
- 22:25Speaker 1: only thing that made me genuinely laugh out loud in
- 22:28Speaker 1: a while. Please keep going with Stu Gotts. I think
- 22:31Speaker 1: the two of you could make a great ongoing podcast
- 22:34Speaker 1: even when the old show memories run dry, and that
- 22:39Speaker 1: I agree with. We've talked about it before. We could
- 22:42Speaker 1: just do a pod where we chop it up. We
- 22:45Speaker 1: talked Nicks and Spurs, Madison Square Garden, and I mean,
- 22:49Speaker 1: there's a million things we could talk about. But the
- 22:50Speaker 1: idea of this particular pod is to go back and
- 22:53Speaker 1: look at the old LeBatard show days and relive some
- 22:57Speaker 1: of those moments.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Yep, we did a show Togain, We did mornings together,
- 23:01Speaker 2: and we had great success. Hawk and I are very
- 23:04Speaker 2: aware that we could continue and expand this if indeed
- 23:07Speaker 2: we want to, and we will. The second Hawk stop
- 23:10Speaker 2: traveling all around the globe taking his son and a
- 23:13Speaker 2: graduation tour. I mean, congratulations, he graduated college.
- 23:16Speaker 1: I mean, I'm spending the fifty or sixty million dollars
- 23:20Speaker 1: that Taylor promised me. I'm assuming it's very close to
- 23:24Speaker 1: being a dundee.
- 23:25Speaker 2: Listen, we are like five shows away and we have
- 23:28Speaker 2: to do all five of them five days a week,
- 23:30Speaker 2: and we are really close.
- 23:32Speaker 1: To sixty million. Okay, So here's today's clip. Ye we'll
- 23:36Speaker 1: listen to again. It's the mundane stuff. By the way,
- 23:41Speaker 1: the only money that I make off this podcast is
- 23:44Speaker 1: through cameo. That's literally it. If someone orders a cameo
- 23:50Speaker 1: with me and I strong arms to gots into doing
- 23:54Speaker 1: it with me, then I make money. That's it. The
- 23:57Speaker 1: rest of this podcast is done for the love of
- 23:59Speaker 1: the game.
- 24:01Speaker 2: So I have I have news on that front that
- 24:03Speaker 2: I think will please you. I got a sales report
- 24:06Speaker 2: from iHeart and you are going to get fifty percent
- 24:10Speaker 2: of the sales uh from the set from them selling
- 24:13Speaker 2: the podcast for us. And I have seen the numbers,
- 24:16Speaker 2: and oh my god, I mean, listen million look a
- 24:19Speaker 2: second trip to Switzerland, my friend.
- 24:21Speaker 1: I mean, shall I perhaps purchase a chateau while I'm there? Yeah?
- 24:26Speaker 1: You should. My point is, if you want a cameo,
- 24:32Speaker 1: because I'm gonna shut down cameo for the summer because
- 24:35Speaker 1: I'm traveling, right, If you want a cameo for Father's Day, though,
- 24:39Speaker 1: I'm gonna be here for the next week or so.
- 24:41Speaker 2: Are you gonna be here? You're going on town this weekend.
- 24:44Speaker 2: I'm going out of town this weekend. I will be
- 24:46Speaker 2: here next weekend.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Father, Okay, as Father's Day is coming up, and this
- 24:50Speaker 1: is the perfect Father's Day gift, a cameo from me
- 24:53Speaker 1: and ste goots and so if you want one, you
- 24:55Speaker 1: go to cameo search Mark Hawkman. I strong arm stew Gods.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Some times I get him out to Meisner Park to
- 25:01Speaker 1: do it live. Sometimes I have to do it where
- 25:03Speaker 1: I'm holding up a phone with his FaceTime, where I'm
- 25:07Speaker 1: in my studio here and he's holding up his I'm
- 25:11Speaker 1: holding up his phone and we do the cameo that way.
- 25:14Speaker 1: But if you want a cameo for Father's Day from me,
- 25:17Speaker 1: we'll get at God's go to cameo search Mark Hackman.
- 25:20Speaker 1: All right, the mundane stuff. So this is just five
- 25:23Speaker 1: minutes of me, you, Dan, and Mike Ryan chopping it up.
- 25:28Speaker 1: I don't even think I'm in this, to be quite honest.
- 25:30Speaker 1: I think it's you and Dan talking about it. We
- 25:32Speaker 1: had talked throughout the show. We had been to the
- 25:34Speaker 1: Strip club the night before the Cheetah, and we had
- 25:38Speaker 1: done some Cheetah excursions during the early seven ninety days.
- 25:43Speaker 1: That was believe it was a corporate expense, right, our
- 25:46Speaker 1: controller allowed that to be a corporate expense, Yes, for
- 25:50Speaker 1: all of us oddly. Yes, crazy, I'm not even joking.
- 25:54Speaker 1: Ning the early days of seven ninety right, trips to
- 25:58Speaker 1: the Cheetah would be turned in for reimbursement.
- 26:03Speaker 2: Trips to the Cheetah meant that one of our owners
- 26:07Speaker 2: was usually there and they were taking care.
- 26:10Speaker 1: Of the bill.
- 26:11Speaker 2: I don't know how they wrote it up, you know,
- 26:13Speaker 2: in terms of the books and the accountants and all that.
- 26:15Speaker 1: I just know I never paid for it and always expensive.
- 26:17Speaker 1: I had it well, we apparently had taken a bunch
- 26:21Speaker 1: of interns there. You and I. Dan didn't go. That
- 26:24Speaker 1: was a constant tension on the show. He didn't really
- 26:26Speaker 1: like gentlemen's clubs. I like them to this day. Cheetah
- 26:29Speaker 1: is my longest running endorsement my radio show. They have
- 26:33Speaker 1: been on since day one and have never missed a day.
- 26:37Speaker 1: It's fourteen years now, amazing. But we used to go
- 26:41Speaker 1: every now and then. We had taken the interns there.
- 26:44Speaker 1: Apparently I was calling myself daddy, and throughout the show
- 26:50Speaker 1: we had talked about this, and you guys were calling
- 26:54Speaker 1: me daddy throughout the show. But what happens at the
- 26:59Speaker 1: end of the segment is Mike Ryan, who's either an
- 27:02Speaker 1: intern or is just like an employee. At this point,
- 27:07Speaker 1: he gets to shine on the air with something that
- 27:12Speaker 1: that no one saw coming, kind of like your Christopher walkin,
- 27:15Speaker 1: just a quick little snippet that he had that no
- 27:18Speaker 1: one else had. The watch. It's really good, It's really good.
- 27:24Speaker 1: How did you learn you could do that? I just
- 27:27Speaker 1: said it one day and the people he breaks.
- 27:32Speaker 2: Up, like people called in with their walkins. After that,
- 27:36Speaker 2: they started calling in with the watch.
- 27:40Speaker 1: There's something very pleasing about hearing you say that.
- 27:45Speaker 2: You can imagine once it was it was established. You
- 27:47Speaker 2: can imagine how outrage Dan would be when I missed
- 27:50Speaker 2: the windows to throw in the watch.
- 27:54Speaker 1: You know it right, you know exactly what you stop
- 27:58Speaker 1: talking about it. So let's listen to this together. Just
- 28:01Speaker 1: five minutes of mundane show chatter, just chopping it up.
- 28:07Speaker 1: Towards the end of the show about the night before
- 28:11Speaker 1: at the strip club.
- 28:13Speaker 3: Gott's just wished Daddy Dad get it.
- 28:17Speaker 1: Strip club Daddy Hawkman. Secott's is an extraordinary sport.
- 28:21Speaker 3: I mean, we beat him up a lot around here,
- 28:23Speaker 3: but every once in a while he reaches a breaking point.
- 28:26Speaker 1: It doesn't happen very often, it doesn't.
- 28:28Speaker 3: I mean, he is a good sport because Lord knows
- 28:32Speaker 3: he is a heavy bag. Like he is just a
- 28:35Speaker 3: punching bag around here. I love it, man, but that
- 28:40Speaker 3: rejoin that Hawk just played one of Stegatt's's more embarrassing moments,
- 28:47Speaker 3: confusing muy Thai with MAUI while trying to read.
- 28:51Speaker 1: I remember at that moment wishing Hawkman was dead.
- 28:55Speaker 3: He just wished Daddy dead. If you don't have a
- 28:57Speaker 3: reference point for why it is we're calling Hawk daddy,
- 29:00Speaker 3: it is because last night at the strip club, while
- 29:03Speaker 3: he was making it rain with the interns, a stripper
- 29:08Speaker 3: named Kashmere astc who are you? And he announced in
- 29:14Speaker 3: a way that he didn't think was cheesy and somehow
- 29:17Speaker 3: mistook for charming, I'm daddy. I gotta tell you man,
- 29:23Speaker 3: whereupon the stripper later thought that Hawk was Mike Ryan's
- 29:28Speaker 3: actual father.
- 29:31Speaker 2: I'm serious. We were at Cheetah Allentale Beach. There is
- 29:35Speaker 2: a way you acted as strip club. I am never
- 29:37Speaker 2: more confident with so much swagger than I am when
- 29:40Speaker 2: I walk into a strip club.
- 29:41Speaker 1: I mean I own that place, and so does Hawkman.
- 29:44Speaker 1: I say things in a.
- 29:44Speaker 2: Strip club that I would never ever say anywhere else ever.
- 29:49Speaker 1: I mean, you just have tons of confidence.
- 29:51Speaker 3: Is this a common affliction? Is this is behavior in
- 29:54Speaker 3: a strip club? I mean, I don't I don't know this.
- 29:58Speaker 3: The last time I was in a strip club, I
- 29:59Speaker 3: had some horrific experience in a strip club. I don't know,
- 30:03Speaker 3: seven years ago. I'm I'm walking on South Beach and
- 30:07Speaker 3: a bunch of my friends that I haven't seen since
- 30:10Speaker 3: high school spill out of this this limousine. They spill out.
- 30:14Speaker 3: They're all hammered. I'm just walking, I mean, just walking
- 30:17Speaker 3: down the street.
- 30:18Speaker 1: They're like, oh, oh, bit hard.
- 30:19Speaker 3: And then I got swept in a wave of you know, Tequilan,
- 30:24Speaker 3: god knows what else that they smelled like Tequilan prostitution,
- 30:29Speaker 3: and that get swept.
- 30:30Speaker 1: Into the in the club.
- 30:31Speaker 3: So I just waddle over to the money machine because
- 30:33Speaker 3: I don't have but you know, nine dollars on me,
- 30:35Speaker 3: and so I go to the ATM and I take
- 30:37Speaker 3: out I take out three hundred and four hundred dollars,
- 30:40Speaker 3: and all this thing spits out is play money. It's
- 30:43Speaker 3: a damn stripper money. And that's not what I wanted.
- 30:46Speaker 3: I wanted money. I needed money so that when I
- 30:48Speaker 3: left there, and so I go to the owner or
- 30:52Speaker 3: whoever it is the manager, and I'm like, this isn't
- 30:55Speaker 3: what I wanted, but this is part of the scam
- 30:57Speaker 3: over at Club Madonna. Like they know it looks like
- 31:00Speaker 3: and I know it's gonna spin out paper money that
- 31:02Speaker 3: you can only spend in their establishment.
- 31:04Speaker 1: I haven't been to one since. I'm waiting for the
- 31:07Speaker 1: Bad Experience Part.
- 31:13Speaker 3: Seven eighty six three six oh seven ninety.
- 31:18Speaker 1: Sounds like how you read us. I didn't want I
- 31:22Speaker 1: didn't want to spend.
- 31:23Speaker 3: Hundreds of dollars in play money.
- 31:26Speaker 2: Well Daddy did last night. I heard Daddy, I'm serious, Dad.
- 31:30Speaker 2: I went to the bathroom, turned the break and I
- 31:33Speaker 2: heard Daddy. He was in the snack room. We have
- 31:35Speaker 2: a little kitchen here and there's some vending machines. And
- 31:38Speaker 2: I heard Daddy scream out to anyone anyone in the building, Hey,
- 31:41Speaker 2: anyone have a dollar I could borrow? And into which
- 31:44Speaker 2: I responded, Hawk at of singles, I mean the stack
- 31:50Speaker 2: of singles that he had last night. It was glorious.
- 31:53Speaker 2: Hawk was he was the man last night. He owned
- 31:55Speaker 2: that club.
- 31:56Speaker 1: I think that I did la Daddy owned the club.
- 31:58Speaker 2: No, he owned it man, and he's gonna see Cashmere later.
- 32:01Speaker 2: Tonight around seven thirty. But here's a game I played
- 32:03Speaker 2: last night. I have been to thousands of strip clubs,
- 32:06Speaker 2: I really have. I have been there thousands of times
- 32:08Speaker 2: as well. We played stripper basketball last night. I've ever
- 32:11Speaker 2: done that. I have never done that. Mike Ryan taught
- 32:14Speaker 2: me this game. Will you roll up the dollar bill?
- 32:16Speaker 2: You guys sit right at the stage, Okay, they're doing
- 32:17Speaker 2: the stage dance of the main stage, by the way.
- 32:19Speaker 1: That's why you have to do it.
- 32:20Speaker 2: Where you roll up the dollar bills into a ball, okay,
- 32:23Speaker 2: And the stripper uses her stomach and her breast as
- 32:26Speaker 2: the backboard essentially, and she's opening up her underpants and
- 32:29Speaker 2: you take shots and you try to get them in. Dan,
- 32:31Speaker 2: I'm telling you, I was taking away fade away jumpers
- 32:34Speaker 2: last night at the Cheetah in Hollendale.
- 32:35Speaker 1: Fade away Jumpers skyhooks. It was the best game I've
- 32:38Speaker 1: ever played at a strip club.
- 32:39Speaker 3: All Right, you made fun of me for ruining a
- 32:41Speaker 3: strip club experience, But the idea that you would bring
- 32:44Speaker 3: sports into that place and do fadeaways. And I can
- 32:49Speaker 3: also picture you, incidentally, after making one, holding up your wrist.
- 32:54Speaker 1: I did the follow through the fact.
- 32:56Speaker 3: That you would bring sports into that place.
- 32:58Speaker 1: It's called cushball.
- 33:02Speaker 3: Why is it called cush Paul, I don't know.
- 33:08Speaker 1: Maybe Daddy knows.
- 33:11Speaker 3: That's named, of course, after the collegiate quarterback who betrayed
- 33:16Speaker 3: Tom Cruise. In Jerry McGuire, Cush what was the name?
- 33:23Speaker 3: I hope was the song he sang, Mike grind can
- 33:25Speaker 3: you give me a little Cush? She's Jeremy slash cushlashuh slash.
- 33:35Speaker 1: I could not get into the microphone one. That's not everything.
- 33:39Speaker 1: Mike ri has been waiting for four years.
- 33:41Speaker 3: Well are they gonna ask me to sing on the
- 33:43Speaker 3: air the Cush song from Jerry McGuire.
- 33:47Speaker 1: That's why I love that segment. We're back live on
- 33:49Speaker 1: the pod now. That's why I love that segment because
- 33:52Speaker 1: it goes from the strip club conversation and I do
- 33:55Speaker 1: remember that. By the way, I thought I was being
- 33:57Speaker 1: super cool when she's like, what's your name? I remember Kashmir,
- 34:00Speaker 1: I remember her. She goes, what's your name? And I
- 34:03Speaker 1: think I'm being bad ass by going Daddy. What I
- 34:06Speaker 1: didn't realize is because I'm bald and older than everyone,
- 34:11Speaker 1: she literally thought I was Mike Ryan and the other
- 34:14Speaker 1: intern's bad, which is why I had all the money.
- 34:19Speaker 1: It's like it was, Yeah, it was just absolutely ridiculous.
- 34:25Speaker 2: I'd like to confirm many years later for Lebtar that
- 34:29Speaker 2: I did indeed hold the follow.
- 34:31Speaker 1: Through when I was playing that game.
- 34:34Speaker 2: And I also once turned to my after I put
- 34:37Speaker 2: it off her stomach right into her underpants, and I said,
- 34:39Speaker 2: the bank is open out of that.
- 34:43Speaker 1: But I love the way that that segment plays out
- 34:45Speaker 1: because it's just like Mike doesn't get tons of chances
- 34:49Speaker 1: to talk at that point in the show because he's
- 34:51Speaker 1: behind me and he's either an intern or just beyond
- 34:54Speaker 1: an intern, and so he's like, hey, it's called Cushball
- 34:58Speaker 1: and it doesn't really go any wear and Dan's like
- 35:01Speaker 1: why and he's like, I don't know, ask hack right now.
- 35:04Speaker 1: He wants out because he doesn't know as daddy, but
- 35:07Speaker 1: then it comes right back to him. He's got the
- 35:10Speaker 1: cush song in his head from Jerry McGuire and he
- 35:13Speaker 1: gets to unveil it much like You're Christopher Walken. It's limited,
- 35:18Speaker 1: but it's brilliant the watch. So there you go, something
- 35:25Speaker 1: ordinary from the show. I love that. I just in
- 35:29Speaker 1: listening to Odd, we were just listening to five minutes
- 35:32Speaker 1: of us kind of just goofing around on the air and.
- 35:35Speaker 2: Listening back to that segment, and I'm not certain I've
- 35:38Speaker 2: laughed harder during anything we've played. I got to be honest,
- 35:41Speaker 2: that's how much I love the dynamic just between the
- 35:44Speaker 2: four of us.
- 35:45Speaker 1: It was. It was so good.
- 35:46Speaker 2: But the one of the many valuable lessons I learned
- 35:49Speaker 2: about doing radio with Dan his use of the pause
- 35:53Speaker 2: and silence, like he was not.
- 35:54Speaker 1: Afraid of it.
- 35:55Speaker 2: Most radio hosts feel like they need to fill every
- 35:58Speaker 2: single second with a word. Dan loved silence, uncomfortable silence,
- 36:03Speaker 2: and I carried that forward. I think you probably did too,
- 36:06Speaker 2: but he knew exactly when to go to it.
- 36:08Speaker 1: You know, there's fun two things that we would use
- 36:10Speaker 1: as punctuation. One of them to punctuate something funny would
- 36:14Speaker 1: be the silence, and I still do that. You can
- 36:16Speaker 1: really punctuate a good, funny or awkward line with silence.
- 36:22Speaker 1: The other thing, you hear it in that segment, Dan
- 36:25Speaker 1: used to punctuate something funny by giving out the phone
- 36:28Speaker 1: number to the radio station, which is so fucking radio hacky. Yeah,
- 36:33Speaker 1: but it worked, right. It's like Oh and Her and Hawks, Yeah,
- 36:37Speaker 1: and you're like, yeah, he's seeing Kashmir tonight seven eight
- 36:40Speaker 1: six three six seven ninety. It's like he wasn't taking
- 36:44Speaker 1: any because it's like the end of the show. He's
- 36:45Speaker 1: not taking any calls or whatever. He's just punctuating the
- 36:47Speaker 1: funny line by giving out the phone number. Yes, so,
- 36:50Speaker 1: how was that second date with Kashmir? I mean so,
- 36:53Speaker 1: I do have an apartment with her in Vegas still
- 36:56Speaker 1: to this day, which is why I try to go
- 36:58Speaker 1: out there a few times a year. I didn't think
- 37:03Speaker 1: it was gonna work, but it really did. I think
- 37:06Speaker 1: the age difference was gonna bother us.
- 37:08Speaker 2: She's going to switzerling with you and your son, right, Yeah,
- 37:12Speaker 2: who do you think I was talking about Laurie?
- 37:17Speaker 1: All right? Anyway, gotta do nicknames. To end the podcast,
- 37:21Speaker 1: I give you three sports nicknames. Stu Gotts has a
- 37:24Speaker 1: great gift. He can do two words from Christopher Walken
- 37:29Speaker 1: the watch, and he can also recall nicknames from athletes
- 37:39Speaker 1: beyond anyone's skill set. Yes, no one does this better
- 37:45Speaker 1: than Stu Gotts. And so for your New York Knicks,
- 37:49Speaker 1: be a little nervous.
- 37:50Speaker 2: I am well about the game, or about this game
- 37:53Speaker 2: I made the series. I will Taylor, Taylor said earlier
- 37:59Speaker 2: tonight's game. Whoever wins tonight wins the NBA Championship. Taylor
- 38:02Speaker 2: loves the Knicks. I love the Knicks. I am not nervous.
- 38:05Speaker 2: Taylor is nervous because I love what we do this Hawk.
- 38:09Speaker 2: It's like, hey, you know, if the Knicks lose tonight,
- 38:12Speaker 2: there's no way I can see him rebounding and winning
- 38:14Speaker 2: at Game five in San Antonio.
- 38:16Speaker 1: And we totally dismiss the fact that they.
- 38:18Speaker 2: Won both games one and two in San Antonio and
- 38:22Speaker 2: nothing that happens moving forward should surprise anyone.
- 38:25Speaker 1: With all that said, I'm terrified. I think I think
- 38:29Speaker 1: the Spurs win again tonight. I think this is two
- 38:31Speaker 1: to two after four, which is what everyone expected, just
- 38:34Speaker 1: not the way that it has played out. How do
- 38:37Speaker 1: you feel about that, Taylor? Huh? Not good? Yeah? I
- 38:41Speaker 1: mean yeah, Now, in the spirit of your Knicks fandoms,
- 38:47Speaker 1: I will give you all New York Knicks your nickname game.
- 38:50Speaker 2: I'm nervous about this because there's an expectation I should
- 38:53Speaker 2: get them. So yeah, some of them are really interesting.
- 39:01Speaker 2: So you think Tony was going to win, and you
- 39:03Speaker 2: think the Spurs are gonna win the series?
- 39:04Speaker 1: Is that what you're saying. I think the Spurs are
- 39:05Speaker 1: gonna win the series. Yeah, I thought it before the series.
- 39:08Speaker 1: I still think it. I've bet them all three games
- 39:11Speaker 1: one for two, one, one and two, but I'm betting
- 39:14Speaker 1: them again tonight. Did you waver it? O two?
- 39:16Speaker 2: Were you wavering it all? No, you'll love this. We're
- 39:21Speaker 2: sending Taylor out to the Mecca today just to be
- 39:23Speaker 2: around the action and do live call into the radio show.
- 39:26Speaker 1: No one was better at that than you. Nobody that's
- 39:28Speaker 1: in the history of radio. Yes, you were going to
- 39:30Speaker 1: have fun doing that. Man, don't wear spurs jersey.
- 39:34Speaker 2: Yes, we play a game hot. He should wear a
- 39:37Speaker 2: Spurs jersey. Hawk would do that, he would, he would,
- 39:39Speaker 2: he would work.
- 39:40Speaker 1: He has no medical insurance, So don't wear the Spurs Jersey.
- 39:48Speaker 1: Save it for your weekend and know O g Andobi
- 39:55Speaker 1: ogobi do you know a Taylor. I wasn't he had
- 40:01Speaker 1: a nickname. That's the correct answer. He has no nickname.
- 40:06Speaker 1: Oh look at that. That's an amazing poll by you.
- 40:11Speaker 2: That's more impressive than actually knowing anyone's nickname.
- 40:14Speaker 1: Right there, No one would have gotten that. Anybody would
- 40:17Speaker 1: have made something up right, whatever I don't know? Right, Yeah,
- 40:24Speaker 1: Ognob does not have a nickname? Yes, that's crazy. Yes,
- 40:29Speaker 1: how about Phil Jackson?
- 40:33Speaker 2: Oh my god, I know he has a nickname, or
- 40:40Speaker 2: maybe he doesn't.
- 40:41Speaker 1: Taylor seems like he knows it. Just hit me now,
- 40:44Speaker 1: and this is one I should know.
- 40:45Speaker 2: And I'm and I'm oh, man, I'm so proud of
- 40:47Speaker 2: myself for for knowing O G didn't have one. And
- 40:50Speaker 2: I'm still celebrating in that moment that maybe I'm not
- 40:53Speaker 2: focused correctly Phil Jackson's nickname.
- 40:55Speaker 1: I'm not let you. I'll let you use a lifeline
- 40:57Speaker 1: if you want, if you want to go to Taylor.
- 41:00Speaker 2: All right, Well does he give me a clue or
- 41:01Speaker 2: does he actually answer it? No, he can answer all right,
- 41:04Speaker 2: So I'm gonna I'm gonna use my lifeline.
- 41:06Speaker 1: Here and go to Taylor the zen Master, the zen Master?
- 41:10Speaker 1: How did I forget that? Man? Great call? Yeah, good job,
- 41:14Speaker 1: great call. Good use of the lifeline. What should I
- 41:17Speaker 1: what should I give you for the for the third one?
- 41:23Speaker 1: I mean, I can go easy, I can give you
- 41:25Speaker 1: Earl Monroe, or I can go difficult and give you
- 41:28Speaker 1: Patrick Ewing. I mean Earl the Pearl. I'll give you
- 41:34Speaker 1: that you got three. It is Earl the Pearl. You
- 41:38Speaker 1: Ewing's nickname Taylor, No, Taylor, I think I know. Does
- 41:44Speaker 1: it go back to his college days? The Hoya Destroyer
- 41:48Speaker 1: destroy ya?
- 41:50Speaker 3: Wow?
- 41:51Speaker 1: Yeah, Taylor is locked in for this game, man, he is.
- 41:55Speaker 2: Yes, Uh listen, Taylor is me when I cared about
- 41:58Speaker 2: sports talk.
- 41:59Speaker 1: You'll laugh about this, yes, yes, oh, you laugh about this.
- 42:02Speaker 2: Yesterday on the radio show, I was talking about the
- 42:06Speaker 2: nineties Bulls and and just the seamless way in which
- 42:10Speaker 2: I do it, the natural eight, because that's a time
- 42:12Speaker 2: where I actually cared about sports.
- 42:14Speaker 1: That Taylor said, it's like the equivalent of.
- 42:17Speaker 2: Watching like Picasso at work at the height of his powers.
- 42:23Speaker 2: It was like watching Barry Bonds take adding practice. It
- 42:28Speaker 2: just comes so easy to me talking about the nineties
- 42:30Speaker 2: Bulls though. We were talking about the nineties Bulls and
- 42:35Speaker 2: Izzy was making the point that Steph Curry's the greatest
- 42:37Speaker 2: of all time because he made guys like Draymond Green
- 42:39Speaker 2: and Clay Thompson who weren't great players.
- 42:41Speaker 1: He turned them into Hall of Fame players.
- 42:43Speaker 2: And we were talking about Michael and the fact that
- 42:46Speaker 2: you know, did Michael do the same for Pippin, But
- 42:48Speaker 2: then Michael took two years off and Pippin alone without
- 42:51Speaker 2: Michael Jordan, made it to the Eastern Conference semifinals, lost
- 42:54Speaker 2: it at game seven to the next a game they
- 42:55Speaker 2: probably should have won, and Taylor just couldn't believe. I
- 42:58Speaker 2: was rattling all this off off the top of my
- 43:01Speaker 2: head because I don't remember what happened yesterday.
- 43:03Speaker 1: I mean, Sonny and Michael did it for Paxson, Steve
- 43:07Speaker 1: her Yes, Craig the Great, yea Armstrong? Right.
- 43:12Speaker 2: I guess the question is would Scottie Pippen? Would Scotty
- 43:15Speaker 2: be great without Michael? Had he started without Michael and
- 43:18Speaker 2: played fifteen years, would he have still been a Hall
- 43:20Speaker 2: of Fame player?
- 43:21Speaker 1: He would have been great and a Hall of Famer.
- 43:23Speaker 1: I don't know he would have been a champion?
- 43:26Speaker 2: Correct, he would not because Michael was winning them all, right,
- 43:28Speaker 2: Like if Parkley wasn't getting past Michael Jordan, Scotty Pippen
- 43:31Speaker 2: wasn't getting past Michael Jordan.
- 43:33Speaker 1: Right, Well, what did we learn today? Stu Gotts can
- 43:36Speaker 1: do an amazing Christopher walkin. If you see me at
- 43:39Speaker 1: the Strip Club, call me daddy. You see Patrick Ewing
- 43:45Speaker 1: walking around town? Tonight. Call him the hojoya destroyer, and
- 43:51Speaker 1: if you see og Ananobi just say hello Ognobi because
- 43:55Speaker 1: he has no nickname. What's u G? Alright, see you
- 44:01Speaker 1: guys on the next episode with Stu Goats and Hawkman.
