- 0:08[SPEAKER_00]: My mind went in by me, nothing.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_00]: And to this day, I asked my mother for a hundred.
- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: She wants to know when you've given it back.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_00]: I worked for everything.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_00]: I went to college, I paid for it.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't have anybody buy me a car.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_00]: I got my first car.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_00]: Sweat equity.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_00]: Sweat equity.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_00]: There's some things you not listen to me, you're not willing to quit when you put, when you've invested that much into it.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_00]: Some of y'all, you can quit because you ain't put nothin' in it.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_00]: You ain't put enough work in it, you can just turn your back on it because you didn't put that much work into it.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_00]: That's some stuff in my life.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_00]: I can't turn my back on it.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_00]: My wife, we've been together since we were 16 years old.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_00]: Everything she does, I don't like, but we've been together so long, I don't know nothin' else.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_00]: And I tell her, when she's like, you know what, I don't know if I can take this anymore.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_00]: I say, look, you put 22 years into this.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_00]: And you will allow me to blow up.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_00]: You might want to get a return on your investment.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_00]: You may not want to walk out of here.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_00]: You don't want to buy us.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_00]: You don't want me to spend this money on nobody else.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_00]: You work too hard for this.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_00]: You got me to where I am today.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_00]: You push me.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_00]: You might want to get a return on your investment.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_00]: I work too hard to walk away from certain things because I put too much in it.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_00]: And some of you can easily walk away from stuff.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: Cause you will, it's not mean nothing to you.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: But if this company means something to you, this opportunity means something you wouldn't quit and you wouldn't give up and you wouldn't give in.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_00]: Not just for yourself, you wouldn't do it because of the opportunity that gave you and you want to pay them back.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_00]: I've heard some crazy stories.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_00]: I heard a guy tell me to this day.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_00]: I try to conceptualize it, but it's hard.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_00]: Because I know how he lived in nine.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_00]: And he told me he got this job from selling TVs at Best Buy.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, ah, oh, that's our real, I don't know that.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_00]: That's a crazy story.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_00]: You just was at Best Buy selling TVs and you just met somebody from CEO from quick and long.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_00]: You just met somebody and they gave you a job.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_00]: And now you where you are, you want me to buy that?
- 1:56[SPEAKER_00]: You know how you just like that.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_00]: He just happened to come to you and you just happened to be selling TVs that day That's a long shot So when a person gives you an opportunity like that when you weren't headed down his path in the first place You could just walk away from
- 2:16[SPEAKER_00]: So stuff you can't walk away from.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_00]: My biological father, I love him, but I don't really know my man like that.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_00]: I don't call my biological father every day.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_00]: Me and my mother bent through our road through, but I call him my mom almost every single day, while I could've been through some stuff together.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_00]: She bent there for me when nobody else was there for me.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_00]: It's something in my spirit that said, you better call my mom on the day.
- 2:34[SPEAKER_00]: I don't care how big time you get.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_00]: You better stop what you doing right now.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_00]: You want the roads, tell them, I, hold on for one minute.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_00]: Let me just call my mom until I can't talk right now.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_00]: I've been through too much with that lady to turn my back on her sweat equity.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_00]: That's why you apply the process.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_00]: That's why you work hard.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_00]: That's why they put you through what they put you through because if you're gonna get to the other side, they gotta test you to make sure you serious but when you get to the other side, you're gonna get your rewards.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_00]: If it was easy, everybody would do it.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_00]: I got cousins who've never gone to college before.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_00]: And when they look at me and see me on YouTube, they say, that's my cousin.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_00]: If you can do it, I can do it.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_00]: The reason I'm a high school drop-out is because my vision was a grandfather who dropped out.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_00]: A father who dropped out and I dropped out because that's what we did.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_00]: That's what we saw.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_00]: I'm getting the PhD, not because I need a PhD to speak.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_00]: I'm getting the PhD to create a vision.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: This is who we are.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_00]: This is what we do.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_00]: And our DNA is greatness.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_00]: Take a look at who we are, what we do.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_00]: And model it.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not doing this for a car, I'm not doing this for a house, I'm not doing this to pay no bills, I'm doing this to change lives and guess what, the car will come in the places.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_00]: the house will come in the process.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_00]: Let me tell you something, if you shoot for the stars, you're going to hit the moon.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if you know where the moon is.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_00]: It was a lot called, like you can measure from the earth to the moon.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_00]: You can't measure from the earth to the moon.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_00]: One of them is miles, the other one is light ears.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_00]: It's a big difference.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_00]: So, when we were talking about earlier, the why, we were talking about why, the reason why it's so important, why it's so important because if you have a why outside of yourself, you're going to get the things you want to accomplish.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_00]: I told the last group, we did research, and we decided, remember, I told you about the champion, one group they just went once and then that's it, but then another group they do it six times.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know anybody, watch the basketball here, but can I show you Michael Jordan's mindset when we say vision?
- 4:47[SPEAKER_00]: When he won his first championship, before the game wasn't even over for him.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_00]: before he even got the trophy, he looked in the camera and said, you remember that?
- 4:56[SPEAKER_00]: Mm-hmm.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_00]: The gate, he hasn't even got the trophy in his hand yet.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_00]: And he looks at the camera and say, and then when he wanted second championship before he got his trophy, he said, I just want every other basketball player out there that's thinking he going with the championship, I want to make it clear.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_00]: that as long as I'm in here and I'm going to championship, it's not going to happen three.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_00]: Some of the greatest players that have ever played in the game never got a championship, unfortunately, because they played when MJ played.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_00]: And let me tell you why, it wasn't for championships.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if you heard MJ speech.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_00]: When he was in the Hall of Fame, I don't know if you heard just be.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_00]: He won Olympics.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: He had become the biggest face in the world.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_00]: And his one person he mentioned is one person he mentioned.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_00]: After all those years of being great, it's one person he mentioned at the all the fame.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_00]: Who was that one person?
- 5:55[SPEAKER_00]: No, not his daddy died, he didn't start there, but that was great.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_00]: My, he loved his mom, but that wasn't the person.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_00]: We assumed that they would do that.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_00]: It was one person that we, he mentioned that we wouldn't even assume that he would have mentioned.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_00]: Somebody he played with, close, feel Jackson close?
- 6:11[SPEAKER_00]: Can you say it again?
- 6:12[SPEAKER_00]: The close they're cutting.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_00]: The coast that Cuddy Mike Mike was still thinking about the coast that Cuddy have the six share of his ships.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_00]: This guy caught you back in the day before your career has started and Mike said we're making a knowledge of it.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_00]: I got it now as one person.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_00]: I got it now as one person.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_00]: Go back and watch Mike like I got his one person.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_00]: I got to talk about the guy that caught me.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: Why?
- 6:32[SPEAKER_00]: Cause he gave me my why.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_00]: He gave me my reason.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_00]: You will not, whatever it is you want.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_00]: You will not get it into your views to quit.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_00]: It's not, it does not come until you've given everything that you have.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
- 6:46[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so I'll tell you a quick story.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_00]: Michigan State University.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: I've got this young lady who comes to me, right?
- 6:51[SPEAKER_00]: She wants to be.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_00]: in the college of business, so she comes to me.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: I think you need a 3.2, 3.3, she comes to me like a 3.1, she's just missing and she's in tears.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: She's like Eric, you don't know where I come from.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not gonna be able to get in the college of business.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_00]: And so I'm listening to her and I'm listening to her and then she gets to a point where she starts to cry.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_00]: I'm controllably, she's in the room crying.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_00]: She's just going through it.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_00]: And I stop her and say, look, no disrespect, I'm not trying to be insensitive, but the crying is not the crying is not the standard.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_00]: The 3.2 is the standard.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: So if you go in there with tears, they're not going to let you into the college of business.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_00]: What you need is a 3.2, right?
- 7:27[SPEAKER_00]: Now you have a 3.0-8.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_00]: You need to bring your credits up a little bit.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_00]: That's why I continue to tell of this and to be very closely.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: You cry, you're hurt at the end of the crime and a hurt.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_00]: Don't give me a story.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_00]: Don't I don't need a story at the end of it.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_00]: I need you to get every word.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_00]: You already cried.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_00]: You already wasted so many hours to get to this point in your sophomore year.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_00]: You've already a parent's have already paid money.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_00]: You've already sacrificed parties.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_00]: You've already given up sports.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_00]: You've already given up a whole lot of the, you put two years in the Michigan State University.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_00]: And now you're about to cry and give up.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_00]: You're about to cry and go home.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_00]: If you were going to quit, you should have quit before you, you should have quit before you started.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: You don't come this far, you don't invest this much time, you don't invest this much energy together, let me tell you something.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of times I do the right thing, I don't do the right thing, because I'm a good person.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes I do the right thing, because I put up two, it took me 20 years to get to where I am now.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_00]: And you think I'm about to blow 20 years off of a little fun?
- 8:25[SPEAKER_00]: I don't drink, and I don't drink because I don't know how to drink, but I don't drink because I know my family.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm afraid if I do it at the wrong time, I might say the wrong thing, and then my mess up my whole career.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_00]: You see, you see athletes all the time.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_00]: Athletes all the time that lose it all, over some of stupid stuff.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm not a good person.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_00]: It's sweat equity.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_00]: I work for 20 years to get through.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not about to mess it all up.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm not about to mess up 20 years for one day or four.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_00]: It took me too much to get here.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_00]: I will not give it up for one night of pleasure.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: Took me too long.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_00]: Sweat equity.
