- 2:52different mayor in each week to talk about some things going on in their respective
- 2:54towns and cities. This time, though, we're talking about a village.
- 2:59Barbara's so Chris Tatum Joint us right now. Mayor Tatum, good morning.
- 3:02How are you, sir? Good morning, Dave? How are you.
- 3:06I'm doing fight. I love seeing the village of Barbersville. I think everybody
- 3:09down here does too. I love that. I mean, and we talked
- 3:13about that once when you were on the show before. I just love that
- 3:15we have a village. Yeah, it's a it's a very endearing I'll say
- 3:21that. And the people here are very territorial about that title. Yes,
- 3:23yes, they are. A matter of fact, I told you I was
- 3:27in Barbersville several months ago. I was six or eight months or so ago
- 3:30in downtown Barbersville, and I saw signs up talking about the village of Barbersville
- 3:36and making sure people realize that it is a village. There was a big
- 3:39announcement, may Or a couple of weeks ago that some big time soccer is
- 3:44going to be coming to the valley. And I'm talking about not just the
- 3:46canal, I am talking about what we now know as the entire valley,
- 3:51Dantage Valley Corridor, if you will. Kna County Commissoer Benson Langel was on
- 3:54the show talking about it last week. I think it was what's going on
- 3:59out at Shawnee, you folks and Barbersville are a big part of that as
- 4:01well. What can you add to that conversation. We've been doing this here
- 4:03since two thousand and nine. It started and started way back then, and
- 4:09you know, we've got we had at that time, synthetic surfaces weren't quite
- 4:13as prominent as they are now, and the importance of having those turf fields
- 4:16to attract these larger tournaments became more increasingly important as the years have gone on.
- 4:23You know, people understand that youth sports tourism is a multi billion dollar
- 4:27industry and we got our share of that, and then you know, realize,
- 4:31hey, we need to we need to keep up and make sure that
- 4:35we have adequate facilities as this sport grows. And so we made this.
- 4:40We made some investments that Shawnee made and we've been able to partner up on
- 4:44tournaments, which it's a natural fit. Even before our partnership with Shawnee and
- 4:48Shawnee was built, people were staying all the way from Clinden and to Grace
- 4:53in Kentucky for this particular tournaments, the UFU Soccer Eastern Regional Finals. It
- 4:59brings you know, thousands, thousands of kids and their families to the valley.
- 5:02So it was a natural partnership when when Shawnee opened up their gates and
- 5:10to keep people's experience good and meaning that logistically easy to get to get to
- 5:15their ball games and not have to travel two and a half hours. Some
- 5:18of the other facilities that these families are in that they go to in other
- 5:23states, they're traveling an hour and a half two hours to get to their
- 5:26field site after traveling from hundreds of miles away. So the partnership was natural.
- 5:32And you know, you can keep certain groups of teams in the area
- 5:38that they're going to be playing their ball games in and then bringing them together
- 5:40for the championship. We're still only forty minutes apart or so, so it
- 5:45was just a natural partnership. And like I said this, those dollars that
- 5:49come in are what helps us with our quality of life for our folks.
- 5:55I mean, you know, it keeps our fee structures low and allows us
- 5:59to do improvements to parks, not just with those synthetic fields, that put
- 6:02other things in our in our community. So we've been able to build a
- 6:05farmer's market, We've we've installed two disc golf courses in our park. We've
- 6:11you know, there's fifty six sixty some trailheads that in our park, and
- 6:15fishing lakes and volleyball courts and baseball fields that just got turfed as well.
- 6:19So it's a it's a major impact for the entire valley. Like you said,
- 6:26and let's talk about that economic impact. I mean, you think about
- 6:29that for a moment. Again, we're talking with Barbersville. Chris Tatum here
- 6:31on Mayor Monday on five video. I think about that for a moment.
- 6:33What you said earlier, Mayor, and that is people when they come in
- 6:36for these tournaments are staying anywhere from Clenden and West Virginia down to Grayson,
- 6:43Kentucky. That is a pretty big, big stretch of land. But and
- 6:48you're able to fund these things in Barbarsville directly because of tournaments like this.
- 6:54So let's talk about that economic impact. What kind of dollars are we talking
- 6:57about here? Well, I mean for the entire valley. You're talking multimillion
- 7:00in twenty to thirty million dollars for the valley. It's an incredible impact.
- 7:05I mean, and when I say, people don't realize the back end dollars
- 7:10that come in. It's the money that it's the money that those folks that
- 7:14encounter spending that are part of sales tax revenue for some cities, part of
- 7:18business and occupation tax. For those revenues that those those stores and restaurants receive,
- 7:24that they in turn put back into the community and we in turn spend
- 7:29it on our our citizens that it keeps you know, for us, we
- 7:31don't have refuse fee in Barbersville, So that's one of the things that we're
- 7:35able to we're able to use our tourism dollars for And when I say that,
- 7:41it's not tourism dollars as in hotel, motel, oxgy tax, because
- 7:45those dollars go directly back into for us to attract tourism and use those dollars
- 7:50to promote our area. But I'm talking about the taxes that people pay on
- 7:54and when they buy something in a store, the dollars that come back in
- 7:57the city allow us to do those quality of life things. But when you're
- 8:01talking about that big of a dollar mount in the valley, all of those
- 8:05communities benefits so much and keep their equipment, keep their keep people's snow snowplowd
- 8:11out in front of their house in the wintertime. It allows us to do
- 8:15so many things. Those dollars are so vitally important. And when people come
- 8:18in for these tournaments, I mean, how long do the average tournaments last.
- 8:22What kind of a timeframe we're talking about, Well, you're usually talking
- 8:24about five days by the seven days depending so you know, and as attrition
- 8:28happens, as a team loses, there's people that go home. But for
- 8:31the most part, you've got thousands of people here for you know, three
- 8:35four three four days, uh, five days, spending money, you know,
- 8:41as your restaurant, standing in your hotel, going to your mallet to
- 8:43shop, going to see a movie, uh, coming to your downtowns.
- 8:46And you know, I think I think towns, cities, villages and towns
- 8:50across the state are realizing that. And those downtown areas are revitalizing well.
- 8:56And and again, you know people, and we talk about this all the
- 8:58time, May is that people can only spend so much time at the soccer
- 9:01field. I mean, they could have like a day or two maybe in
- 9:05between their matches. They're going to go to the movies, They're going to
- 9:07go to restaurants, and that's what you're seeing. I was just in Barbarosville
- 9:11one day last week actually, and you're seeing more businesses pop up, you
- 9:15know, along the outside, you know, not just downtown I'll talk about,
- 9:18but in all the all the other areas as as well. Yeah,
- 9:22we've had we know, the Target Center has been around for a little while
- 9:24now, but in your station is brand new. The Cafaro company who owns
- 9:28the Hunt the Mall. You're still seeing businesses pop up around that shopping complex
- 9:33and new things coming, and there's there's announcements coming soon that it'll be a
- 9:37new shot in the arm to that property. So I do think that people
- 9:43always say, why don't we have this in Western When we have this in
- 9:45West Virginia meeting specific businesses, why don't we have for instance, Dave and
- 9:50Busters or a cheesecake factory or whatever. It all has to do with population
- 9:54density and those those companies do their market studies and we're getting there. I
- 9:58mean, I hate say that, it's it's been it's a long wait because
- 10:01people want those those things that contribute their quality of life. But you know,
- 10:05we have to have the population to support it. We also have to
- 10:07have the tourism support it to keep their you know, keep their doors open.
- 10:11A lot of the things that people want are in larger markets, and
- 10:15until we until we grow into that larger market, you don't see those things
- 10:20coming here. But I think you know you're seeing a lot of those a
- 10:22lot of those places saying well maybe so, and then you know we do
- 10:26get you know, places like Menard's and Academy Sports and you know Barbara's Will
- 10:31has four Starbucks in city limits. There's I think two Starbucks in Charleston.
- 10:35So you know, we we have a we have a growing area here,
- 10:37new course tilling in this area which is going to benefit everyone. So we're
- 10:41on the we're at the tipping point of you will all right, let's talk
- 10:46about some funds. Well, all of us is fun stuff mare, but
- 10:48let's talk about you got a fall festival coming up? Is that right?
- 10:50This week? The carnivals already started moving in as of yesterday, so Wednesday
- 10:54is their official opening date. Uh and then Thursday is the parade. Friday,
- 11:00our crafters and vendors move in Friday for Friday Saturday. Actually they start
- 11:05moving in on Thursday. But our crowd, they'll have a full slate of
- 11:09crafters and vendors for Friday Saturday. Chris Cagle is playing the main stage on
- 11:15Saturday night. Mad House and the Burning Ridge wal play on Friday night,
- 11:20and then throughout both of those days there's just stuff going on. There's professional
- 11:24wrestling, there's a petting zoo that that will have live animal shows a couple
- 11:28of times on Saturday. The carnival runs every night Wednesday all the way through
- 11:33Saturday night late. There's music, there are there are inflatables, there are
- 11:39tons of food vendors, tons of crafters to tons of just about anything you
- 11:46want at our Fall Festival, which is Wednesday this Wednesday through Saturday and downtown
- 11:50barber's Ville and all this is going to be going on around the same time.
- 11:54This weekend's homecoming for the Marshall Thundering Herb Homecoming from Marshall homecoming for Cavil
- 11:58Midland as well. It's so funny that, you know, we put our
- 12:01dates out in so so far in advance to try to avoid but sometimes you
- 12:07can't because of scheduling of other teams. That Marshall's Game is a day game,
- 12:11so we certainly love to see people come out to barbar's Ville after the
- 12:15ball game and then enjoy the concert and grab something to eat and hang out
- 12:20in downtown. All right, Mayor, it's always a pleasure to talk to
- 12:22you. Keep doing good things in the Village of Barbersville. We'll talk soon,
- 12:26buddy. Thanks a lot. They've always got to talk to you,
- 12:28my friend. Take care, Mary. Thank you. It is the Mayor

- 13:37How do they justify even paying someone that with the out of control situate

- 17:07how are you hey, Good morning, Thanks for having me, thank you
- 17:10for being here. Welcome back to the shows. The campaign, Ben Man,
- 17:12You know, it's been busy. I've been traveling the state, visiting
- 17:15with voters and constituents all across the great state of West Virginia, and I
- 17:19love it. And it's just been great. And I'll say there's a big
- 17:23difference between what you may read in the newspaper and what constituents are concerned about.
- 17:27And it's just been really good to get out in communities and visit with
- 17:32voters and hear their concerns. I listen as much as I talk on these
- 17:36visits all across the state. And my poor truck turned twenty thousand miles and
- 17:41counting, and it's had a few days in the shop. I'll probably have
- 17:45a few more days in the shop. But I love that that's twenty thousand
- 17:47on the campaign trails been about all right, all right, we'll get back
- 17:55to the campaign in the moment. But I understand, Mica. You are
- 17:56heading south as in hearing into the southern border this week. Why is that?
- 18:02Man? I think it's important. Listen, this is really a West
- 18:03Virginia issue. That's southern border crisis that we have. That's the right word,
- 18:07it's a crisis. Because many let me interrupt her, because many people
- 18:10would say, well, why is somebody who is a state senator and somebody
- 18:14who wants to be attorney general? Why is this an issue to West Virginia
- 18:17for you to head down to the southern border. Yeah, so I love
- 18:18the question. Listen. I carry a wallet in my pocket every single day,
- 18:22filled with the faces of the victims of the opiate crisis, many who
- 18:26died from fentnyl. What's happening at the southern border. The numbers are unbelievable.
- 18:32I want to see this firsthand. I think anybody who was going to
- 18:33be the next attorney general here in West Virginia how to understand this issue really,
- 18:38really well. If you think that fentnyl that's poisoning our communities and killing
- 18:41our kids isn't coming over that southern border, you're wrong. Almost a hundred
- 18:47percent of it comes from China through that southern border. We've got to deal
- 18:51with human trafficking, a real problem in West Virginia, underreported, under prosecuted
- 18:57sex trafficking, the number of children that are coming across that border, and
- 19:02you see a very high density of young males between the ages of eighteen and
- 19:07twenty eight. This is a West Virginia crisis we've seen since the Biden administrations
- 19:12taken over. And if you look at a line graph in terms of emigration,
- 19:17it was a flat line pretty much toward the end of the Trump term,
- 19:21but it's skyrocketed. The numbers coming across last month alone, more than
- 19:26three hundred thousand. We've broken record after a record, after a record.
- 19:30Those migrant buses that Texas Governor Abbott is sending to New York, in Chicago
- 19:36and Washington, DC, and in San Francisco, those busses at some point
- 19:41will head to West Virginia, and we better understand the challenges we face.
- 19:45We've got a good budget surplus here right now. All it would take is
- 19:49four or five or ten or twenty of these buses headed to West Virginia for
- 19:56a budget crisis. And so I think we've got to be prepared and listen,
- 20:00anybody who wants to be the next Attorney General West Virginia I dealt with
- 20:04heavily in detail at the grassroots level, the funnel and drug crisis that border.
- 20:11It's unbelievable we haven't shut that border down and taking greater interest in number
- 20:15one, terrorist subjects that are coming across the border. We know it for
- 20:18a fact, all the sex and human trafficking that's coming across that border.
- 20:23Cartel members easily walking across that border. It's not just folks from South America.
- 20:30We have dozens and dozens and dozens of nationalities walking across that border,
- 20:34Chinese, Ukrainians, Russians, Chinese. There is no monitoring of what's happening.
- 20:42And for those hundreds of thousands that we happen to processes, they come
- 20:48across catching release Catching release means this, we catch you, we give you
- 20:55a court date, and we release you into the community. Hundreds of thousands,
- 21:00millions of folks released into our communities. Do you think a bus coming
- 21:03to Washington, DC. Those folks are gonna stay in Washington, DC.
- 21:07Those folks are headed to West Virginia. I want to make it clear to
- 21:11folks, though I'm not anti immigration, I'm for legal immigration. We need
- 21:15more good workers, more folks to join the American workforce and sharing the American
- 21:22dream, But I'm against line jumpers at the border and Disney World, right,
- 21:26It's just not a good thing. And we need to get some laws
- 21:30in place. And if you break the laws to get to America, why
- 21:33would you ever follow the laws once you're here. I saw an interview again
- 21:37we're talking with Mike Stewart, state Senator, a Canada attorney general. I
- 21:38saw an interview over the weekend. No, this was not on Fox News
- 21:42or Newsmax anything. This was on one of the networks, I don't remember
- 21:45which one over the weekend with a guy who is in charge of this whole
- 21:48thing, and he basically said the same thing that you're saying, Mike.
- 21:52He basically said, this is not sustainable. What this administration is doing is
- 21:56simply not sustainable. And this was the guy that's in charge to this whole
- 22:00thing. They're basically stolen, his arms up in the air and saying,
- 22:03we can't do this anymore. Down here. We are under we are we
- 22:07are completely overwhelmed and understaffed down here, and it's getting worse by the day.
- 22:11So and so the Biden administration. Last week, President Biden said I'm
- 22:15gonna welcome more folks to get work permits once they get to America, coming
- 22:22across that southern border. Listen for those folks who desperately are seeking a better
- 22:26life. And many of these folks are, not all of them, but
- 22:30many of these folks are. This is terrible what we're doing. Have you
- 22:33heard? I mean, Homeland Security is getting bus loads of folks and dropping
- 22:37them off at the local dollar tree. What are these folks supposed to do
- 22:41at that point in time? This is perhaps the greatest humanitarian crisis in the
- 22:45history of our country, going for the most part unreported by mainstream media.
- 22:52I can tell you this one's on mainstream media. I think they're finally starting
- 22:55to pick it up. Once you bring over millions and millions and millions,
- 22:57when you see force to attap points, when you see trainloads filled with migrants
- 23:03coming north to America. I'm not against legal immigration. We have to make
- 23:08sure we have a process in place to help these folks get on their feet,
- 23:12be able to operate in our communities. We don't want to see crime
- 23:15to crime surgeon, which it is across the country. And as Attorney General,
- 23:21I can tell you this, I'll work with fellow attorney generals. This
- 23:23is in the interests of West Virginia to work with my fellow Attorney generals once
- 23:29I'm there, to secure that southern border and make sure we have a process
- 23:32in place that's fair to our country and fair to the people trying to come
- 23:36across that border. What's happening right now unconscionable, and the cart tells,
- 23:41for goodness six, when are we going to get serious with respect of the
- 23:45cart tells. We ought to be bombing them they where they sit right now.
- 23:48I would load up drones West Virginia made drones with an extra canister,
- 23:53with notes from moms and dads as we deliver them to cart tell numbers the
- 23:57cart tells in Mexico right now, they are armed better than most militaries across
- 24:03the world, and it seems as though we're playing we're playing kid games with
- 24:07them. They're serious about invading this country, bringing drugs everywhere they can find,
- 24:12and they've been very successful at it. I don't want my wallet to
- 24:15get bigger and thicker. We've got to get serious about this. This is
- 24:19a West Virginia crisis. Mike Stewart's weather state senator and candidate for Attorney General.
- 24:23Let's transition to the campaign. How's the campaign one? I think it's
- 24:26going great. And I'll say this that you know, in this race,
- 24:30there's one conservative in the race. I have two opponents, and we do
- 24:33talk about voting records a good bit. Listen, I'm a strong supporter of
- 24:37the Second Amendment. One of my opponents voted four times against concealed carry.
- 24:41Hard to argue you're for the Second Amendment. The other blocked campus self defense
- 24:45carry in committee on the Second Amendment. Very clear who stands with the people
- 24:51of West Virginia. We're a Second Amendment state. I'm going to be a
- 24:53champion on that issue, but I'm going to be a champion on a whole
- 24:56bunch of issues. What I love is getting out into the p because what
- 25:00we sometimes get, like, I think it's interesting right now we have media
- 25:03across West Virginia defining what's conservative and what's too conservative. I just think it's
- 25:08fascinating. Right I'm a conservative. I don't know if I'm too conservative for
- 25:14some folks, but listen, I'm in the line of folks who supports the
- 25:17Second Amendment. I'm pro life. I'm one of those folks believe we ought
- 25:21to have a strong southern border. I believe in freedom for folks to make
- 25:25decisions with respect to their families. I'm for parents being able to dictate the
- 25:30way their children are raised and the way their children get their education. And
- 25:34I certainly don't believe the boys should be sharing in women's sports. I believe
- 25:38in women's sports. We spent decades trying to build women's sports across the country,
- 25:44and this to me is very clear. And when you look at polls
- 25:47on this issue, when I travel around the state of West Virginia, West
- 25:49Virginians are overwhelmingly in supportive where I stand on these issues, and so the
- 25:55media and all those folks in the middle, those moderates who want to want
- 25:59to redefine what it means to be a conservative in West Virginia. When I
- 26:03see folks moving to the Republican Party that are clearly Rhinos that still think Democrat
- 26:07and are moving over, I feel comfortable where I'm at, and I think,
- 26:11once we talk about the issues the voting record, I'm going to be
- 26:15the clear, convincing conservative champion for West Virginia. That's why I'm gonna win
- 26:18in make Let me ask you though about you keep saying Mike and please hear
- 26:22me out on this with all due respect you you keep saying the media,
- 26:26the media, okay, but but there is though. I mean, in
- 26:30last week we had an announcement that there are a there is a division I
- 26:37think between in certain members of the Republican Party. And this was no different
- 26:41than when the Democrats were in charge. You had your more moderate Democrats,
- 26:44you had your hardcourt, left leaning Democrat and we're seeing it's growing. Greg
- 26:48Thomas called it growing pains. That's basically what it is. You're seeing it
- 26:51within the Republican Party. So when you say that the media is defining what
- 26:55conservatives are, I don't know. I think there we're just trying many I
- 26:56can't speak for all, just trying to tell the story that there are different
- 27:00facets of the Republican Party, just like there were different facets of the Democratic
- 27:03I think it's a great discussion. I agree with Greg on this. It's
- 27:06growing pains. Like we've been so successful on the Republican side, eighty five
- 27:11years of failure the people Westford. In fact, I was one of those
- 27:14kids as a boy that was in a Democrat family, get tired of being
- 27:18poor, I wanted something different. This is growing pains. But I would
- 27:22say this, whether there's a freedom caucus, whether there's a women's caucus,
- 27:25which there is, whether there's a labor caucus, whether there's a chocolate peanut
- 27:29butter ice cream caucus. Right, this is not a threat to leadership.
- 27:33I encourage all those folks to go out there, be active, get good
- 27:36legislation in place. There are always going to be differences. I'll say this
- 27:40that even though we hear about the infighting, eighty percent eighty percent of the
- 27:45issues we all agree on. I don't think there's any big division there,
- 27:48and so I enjoy working with all my colleagues across the board, those who
- 27:53are on the so called far right and those who are in the middle.
- 27:57In fact, I like working with the Democrat. I don't agree with them
- 28:00on many of the issues. But I'll say this, I think the idea
- 28:03that there's this huge civil war within the Republican Party is not accurate. It
- 28:08just isn't. But on issues of boys playing girls sports, there's a big
- 28:14difference between me and my opponents. So I think in a campaign, when
- 28:18we talk about voting records, the Second Amendment, clear difference between me and
- 28:22my opponents on that issue, on the life issue, clear difference on that
- 28:26issue on form energy where we sent three hundred million dollars to a Bill Gates
- 28:30Woke company. Big differences between my opponents and me. But within the caucus,
- 28:36I love serving with the folks I do. I think almost all of
- 28:40them to a person, they love serving. They're doing it what they believe
- 28:42is the best interest to West Virginia. I support leadership and I support the
- 28:47other folks who aren't in leadership. We have to work together. And I
- 28:51said this yesterday at a meeting because I see lots of county fighting between factions
- 28:56within the Republican Party. Maybe that's a good sign that we've been so successful.
- 29:00Everybody's moving over today. The threats not the Democrats. I'm not worried
- 29:03about that. It's Rhino's Republicans in name only within our party who seemed to
- 29:08want to infiltrate and change us back to the old Democrat party. Been there,
- 29:12done that, failed with that. I want a better, bigger future
- 29:17for our people, and I believe in freedom. Ready to knock out some
- 29:18text here. Sure. The great things I like about having Mike Stewart on
- 29:22this take them all is he always takes to all the text in the phone
- 29:25calls. You gotta have your haters. Text says, don't punt on this
- 29:29question. Why does Mike Stewart support a rapist for president and want the endorsement
- 29:33of a rapist? So it's just a ridiculous, moronic question. And so
- 29:37listen, yesterday, did you see the poll that said, in a hypothetical
- 29:41matchup between President Trump and President Biden, president Trump beats him fifty two percent
- 29:45to forty two percent. Listen, there's this group out there that's heads,
- 29:48their heads are exploding over the idea of the President Trump could be reelected again.
- 29:53He's gonna be reelected again. This two tiered justice system. Listen.
- 29:57I revere the Department of Justice, but this idea that we spend all our
- 30:02time investigating the man and indicting him, These fake indictments that are just strowing
- 30:07about. They cheapen the justice system. And I think most Americans see it
- 30:12for what it is. President Trump wouldn't be a fifty two percent in that
- 30:15hypothetical poll and beating President Biden head to head, thumping him if it wasn't
- 30:22for Democrats, Republicans, Independents, women, whites, Blacks, Chinese,
- 30:26American, Indians, listen. He has a broad cross spectrum of Americans supporting
- 30:32him because we understand that this election in twenty twenty four is an election for
- 30:37renewal. This is no longer about a man named Donald Trump. This is
- 30:40a movement all across this country. We want a justice system we believe in.
- 30:45We want an FBI, and the local FBI agents do a wonderful job.
- 30:48But we see these stories out of Washington and they make no sense.
- 30:52There's a lot of common sense across America. That's what you saw on that
- 30:56poll yesterday. And so the pejorative terms with respected Donald Trump, I'm not
- 31:00going to engage in that. I'll just say I believe Donald Trump is the
- 31:04presumptive nominee and I think he's the next president of the Unity. But the
- 31:07majority of people, though Mike on both side of the al, don't want
- 31:11either Trump or Biden. Well, listen, that could be the case,
- 31:15but we're left with the choices that we have, and I think President Trump
- 31:18did a wonderful job as president. Did he make some mistakes along the way.
- 31:22Did he trust some people who weren't so great around him? Yes,
- 31:26But I'll say this. We love second chances in America. I say it
- 31:29all the time, second chances of redemption, We love it. I think
- 31:32he learned a lot from that first term. I can see it when I
- 31:34watch him on the campaign trail. I support President Trump. Matt Whittaker,
- 31:40the former United States Attorney General personal advisor to President Trump, was here just
- 31:44a few weeks ago to in fact last week to endorse me and support my
- 31:48campaign. And I'm very pleased with the record he had as president. Inflation
- 31:52wasn't soaring, mortgage rates weren't soaring, more people employed than any other time
- 31:57in American history, and we could drill frack in mind. And as Attorney
- 32:00General, I'll fight for all those things. We got to be able to
- 32:04drill frack and mind the energy beneath our feet. And those climate crazies and
- 32:07folks on the left that would rather lose than when with drilling, fracking and
- 32:13mining, because I'll tell you this, it's not a Republican issue. Drilling,
- 32:15fracking and mining. That's a Westford, Jaian American issue. That's a
- 32:20national security issue. I just can't believe the number of people, this caller
- 32:23in particular, it would rather lose and be unemployed or see these terrible economic
- 32:29numbers than win for America again. And I see this all across the state.
- 32:32Though I think that that call, that text was a minority view,
- 32:37I see it. I think there's a great reawakening happening across America. I'm
- 32:42one of those folks very optimistic about the future. I think in holes and
- 32:46in meeting places all across this country there's a grand reawakening happening. And it's
- 32:51not about Donald Trump the person. It's about Donald Trump, what he stood
- 32:54for and what we want to get back to. Mike Stewart, always a
- 32:59pleasure to have you on the shop wheking people learn more about your campaign general

- 33:15I believe this. Voters have my back. The good old boys may not,
- 33:19but voters have my back. I love that because I'm fighting. I'm
- 33:22fighting for folks out there and a little white house with a white picket fence

- 36:37right now. Jeff, good morning, busy uh, busy weekend with the
- 36:42police blodder here in the canal that let's start with Cross Lanes. What exactly
- 36:45happened in Cross Lanes around the Taco Bell well the roadway in there. So
- 36:52we were waiting on more information, but from what they released on Saturday,
- 36:57they were informed of a man that had been uh that have been wanted.
- 37:01I think, well it's from Logan County, so we're still trying to get
- 37:05some of those details, but they learned he was in the roadway end.
- 37:09They confirmed he was there, and then they said that he came out,
- 37:15got in the vehicle, refuse their commands started as he drove off, started
- 37:21shooting at deputies, so they returned fire and he was killed. His name
- 37:28hasn't been released. Not many other circumstances, but we don't know what he
- 37:30was wanted for anything at that point. We don't. And so this is
- 37:35created quite as quite as stir as you can imagine near the Taco Bell,
- 37:39you know where the roadway ends. They're all kind of tucked in there,
- 37:43you know, back in there together, just right off the Crosslings exit.
- 37:45So it created quite a stir there because you had people in the Taco Bell.
- 37:50It was busy. Shots rang Saturday, Saturday afternoon. We four thirtieth
- 37:54yea, so it was very busy on Saturday. So we were hoping to
- 38:00get more information. I would think we'd probably get more information today. And
- 38:02what happened across the street from us here. Okay, so this was yesterday
- 38:07at Manamel about one o'clock. There were there Charleston City Police say a man
- 38:15identifies Jackie Cummings. He's from Duck, so he's from Clay County that's his
- 38:19address, and he was in Manamel creating a disturbance with another person. That
- 38:24person has not been identified, but they were in an altercation and Charleston police
- 38:30say they were asked to leave the property by the folks that run the soup
- 38:34kitchen there, and so they exited, but it continued and you know,
- 38:39got even more heated. It appears on the parking lot. They're on Coreyer
- 38:44Street and eleven hundred block, and Comings, according to Charleston Police, pulled
- 38:49out a knife and was attempting to stab the other person when that other person
- 38:54pushed Comings down, shoved him, and then the knife the Coming Cummings was
- 39:00holding went into his own leg and he died at the hospital. So we're
- 39:07looking at I mean, we don't know yet till further information comes out,
- 39:10but that I read your story Ride that no charges have been filed. It's
- 39:15kind of a self defense, which always that might end up what it's going
- 39:17to be. The prosecutor's office will finally determine that. But you know,
- 39:23city police at least, and these are very experienced detectives, they didn't think
- 39:27they had enough there to charge for a murderer's I mean, it's just sounds
- 39:30like that, particularly on the information they released that the man who died was
- 39:36the aggressors. Want to pull the knife, Yeah it was the knife.
- 39:39Sounded like he was the aggressor inside the soup kitchen there and sound a man
- 39:43of meals. So yeah, so he and you know, I don't I
- 39:47don't know what kind of I don't know, hitting his upper leg, may
- 39:51have gotten an artery, yeah, you know, and had a bleed out
- 39:53there, but did die a short time later CMC general All right, Well.

- 40:32to get to know. They're not about Jeff Jenkins, They're about Mike Stewart.
- 40:37Uh, let me see, tex says. Mike Stewart needs to stop
- 40:38politicizing the pain and suffering of victims off the opioid crisis and their families.
- 40:44More people do more here every day in Westford in to solve the problem.
- 40:46If he's so interested, he should become a border guard. Well, he's
- 40:51gonna be down there. It's maybe you'll apply for a job there. Tex
- 40:55says, this man is so full of you know what, No Republican or
- 41:00democratically controlled Congress has dealt with this problem in the last twenty five years.
- 41:04Now, the wonderful Mike Stewart, running for West Virginia Attorney General, is
- 41:07going to propose the most magic solution. What a joke the guy is,
- 41:13Texas Stewart calling for war with Mexico. The man is a terrible vision for
- 41:16use of tax dollars. Stewart is nuttier than a squirrel. Blank says a
- 41:22texture to Texas Dave, I'm so tired that you allow these politicians on your
- 41:27show for what amounts to nothing more than any political infomercial. How about making
- 41:30these candidates pay for the airtime. Well, here's the way it works,
- 41:34folks. Okay, when people sign their name on the dotted line to run
- 41:37for office, the media is going to talk to him. That's just the
- 41:40way it is. And trust me, the check books are going to come
- 41:45out this campaign in twenty twenty four, which really is you've heard me say
- 41:52in the past. Normally doesn't even get started in earnest until after Labor Day
- 41:57sometime. This is going to be the biggest campaign campaigns across the board that
- 42:04West Virginia has ever seen. And so radio, television, your newspaper,
- 42:08your internet feed, your Facebook, everything is going to be blowing up with
- 42:14political ads. So now I allow time on the show for any candidate that
- 42:19reaches out and says, hey, can I come on your show? Just
- 42:22the way it is, text says Mike Stewart. Laura Ingram called she wants
- 42:28a night's talking points back. According to a texture says when Mike Wass attorney,
- 42:35the drug problem got worse in the state than drug desks were off the
- 42:37rails. National Guards said they didn't confiscate any drugs at the border, So
- 42:42where are they coming across the board. Well, as I said, saw
- 42:45the interview with the guy who's the main guy there over the weekend, and
- 42:47this was not on Fox News, It was not a news nation. It
- 42:51was on I think ABC. They did an interview. I think it was
- 42:53ABC. They did an interview with the guy and I can't think of his
- 42:57name off top of my head, but the main guy down there, and
- 42:58he says, yes, drugs are coming across the border. Human trafficking actually
- 43:01though is a bigger issue than the drugs according to the people down there.
- 43:05And his words were this is not sustainable. Text says my opinion, Stewart
- 43:14has his head so far up orange heads backside that he doesn't know what reality
- 43:19is. Tex says, where's the pro rapist caucus? Asked Mike Stewart why
- 43:24bomby Mexico is not a declaration of war and completely unseerious position from a rapist
- 43:30loving loon, Texas Trump is a rapist. Mike Stewart never addressed the jury
- 43:35verdict and won't say why he's happy to support a rapist? Did Trump rape
- 43:38e Jane Carroll? Mister Stewart Texas Joe Rogan said that if it's Trump versus
- 43:51Biden again. He's voting for Trump. He said, it looked like Trump's
- 43:52policies were actually effective, and it looked like unemployment was down, business was
- 43:57building, regulations were being released, more things were getting done. People like
- 44:00the ideas who's putting forward. Everybody thinks there needs to be a wall.
- 44:04Even the mayor of New York City is now calling to stop immigration into a
- 44:08city. And this is a guy who called for a sanctuary city according to
- 44:14a text or Texas to just once. I want just one of these so
- 44:15called journalists in the White House briefing room to inform KJP that while they keep

- 47:31he personally him not his office, actually presented an opening or closing argument in
- 47:37a trial that occurred? Tech says Republicans and their scare tactics. When will
- 47:45West Virginia stop falling for this? Well, not anytime soon. Texture not
- 47:50anytime soon, because more and more people are buying into the Republican monitor these
- 47:55days, and more and more people elected officials and others are switching parties at
- 48:00record numbers in West Virginia. How about some outdoor drinking in the capital city.
- 48:06This story came out last week. The Charleston City Council is in the
- 48:08process of establishing what would be known as podas POD A that is, a
- 48:15private outdoor designated area. It's around the city where people can enjoy a cocktail.
- 48:20Now, this has been done in hundreds of cities across America. Huntington,
- 48:24in fact, just established a similar type program not long ago. Normally,
- 48:30the way it works is you would purchase a specially mark cup if you
- 48:36wish to do it, Meaning you can't just walk around Jeff, sorry,
- 48:38with your bottle of Jack Daniels or your beer. Doesn't work that way.
- 48:44I mean you can, but You're probably gonna get busted if you try that.
- 48:47The bill was discussed Thursday during a Committee on Rules and Ordinances meeting,
- 48:52and there's going to be another meeting in October, the second prior to the
- 48:57City Council meeting. Now that is next Monday. So if a business owner
- 49:00within the City of Charlestown wants to have their business as part of this poda
- 49:06poda, there is going to be a meeting held at nine o'clock this Thursday
- 49:13at Adelphia in Charleston nine am. These podas and again that stands for private
- 49:21outdoor designated areas. These were actually established by the legislature. So when people
- 49:29say, well, you know liberalism and these liberals are wanting to know,
- 49:31this was established by the legislature, by the Republican legislature. And so the
- 49:37first one is if for Charleston would be I understand on Summers and Capitol Streets
- 49:44between the Boulevard and Lee Street had at Riverfront Park, Slack Plaza, and
- 49:49a part of Hale Street. Also there is a draft map. I didn't
- 49:52look for it, but I read this. There is a draft map on
- 49:54the city's website in the meeting section. And there could also be smaller ones
- 49:59planning for the Elk City District on the west side Bridge Road and South Hills,
- 50:02and a couple of others could also be around the ballpark as well.
- 50:08The businesses would have to apply for a license from the state ABC and this
- 50:15wouldn't be an all day type thing. It would be on as it's proposed
- 50:22now, on Thursdays and Fridays starting at four in the afternoon until ten and
- 50:28then weekends from ten am to ten pm. Charles's City Councilman Chad Robinson is
- 50:32the chairman of the rules committee that I just referenced, and I talked to
- 50:37Chad last night. Councilman, I should say, he is going to be
- 50:44on the show on Thursday to talk about this program. Now. I frequent
- 50:50Marietta, Ohio, and I had seen the program there when I visited,
- 50:55and there's been no issues. There are several areas around Columbus. First time
- 51:00I actually saw one of these was in one of the suburbs of Columbus,
- 51:06and again I didn't see any areas as was mentioned. Huntington instituted this a
- 51:13month or so ago, and as far as I know, there have been
- 51:15no major issues there. The businesses seem to want it, so it's probably
- 51:21gonna happen now again. Council Person Robinson will be on the show on Wednesday
- 51:24to talk about it. Text says, leave it to the Democrats and liberal
- 51:28mayor a good one to promote public drunkenness. These people are terrible leaders.
- 51:31Well texture it was the Republican legislature that did this. It was not good
- 51:36to one administration. It was. This was passed by the Republican Legislature to
- 51:42allow areas that wish to do this if you wish to. It's not going
- 51:45to be everywhere or anything like that. Five eighty Live has brought to you
