- 2:10[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to talk about him today though.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_01]: And give it a little background on who he was and what he did our theme.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_01]: This entire week will be talking about the three biggest spiritual mistakes you could potentially ever make.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_01]: the three biggest spiritual mistakes you could possibly ever make and I'm gonna share it just by way of full transparency I'll share some of my own personal mistakes as an illustration but I really like for you to consider.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_01]: and ponder what God wants to teach you through the Bible and this Bible study.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_01]: This week, let's dive into Synchronicals chapter number 16.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_01]: If you recall, we spoke yesterday from 1 Kings chapter 15 introducing ourselves to Asa.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_01]: This was a King.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_01]: who did many things right in the eyes of God.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_01]: He removed idols, even dethroning his own mother to cleanse the land of idolatry, but despite his many good deeds, Asa made some critical errors or mistakes later in his life.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_01]: He ran for 41 years, but Sengakronical 16 picks up the conversation, the story, there's a count in the 6th and 30th year.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_01]: Sengakronical 16 verse 1, the Bible says,
- 3:29[SPEAKER_01]: in the 6th and 30th year of the reign of Asa, Basia, King of Israel, came up against Judah in Belterama, to the intent that he might let none go out or come into Asa, King of Judah, then Asa brought out silver and gold out the treasures of the house of the Lord, and of the King's house, and sent Ben Hadad, King of Syria that dwelt at Damascus, saying,
- 3:54[SPEAKER_01]: There is a league between me and the, as there was between my father and my father behold, I have sent the silver and gold.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_01]: Go, break thy league with Bayshire King of Israel.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_01]: that he may depart from me, and been heyed at Harkin under King Asa, and sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Israel, and they smote I, John and Dan, and Abel and Abel and Mame, and all the store cities of NAFTA lie, and it came to pass from Basia Hurtip that he left off building of Arama, and let his work cease.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_01]: Then Asa, the king took all Judah and they carried away the stones of Rama, or Rama, in the timber thereof, wherewithbashi was building, and he built therewithgiba and mispa, pause here for just a moment.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I'd like you to realize the context of what's going on here.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_01]: Asa,
- 4:45[SPEAKER_01]: Makes what could be considered a shrewd, geopolitical, move by enlisting, been hated at the king of Syria to help him out of his pickle.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_01]: You see, Basia was going to, essentially, starve him and his people out, had set up a blockade with this city that he was building, keeping people from coming and going and trade, I'm sure, with grind to a halt and over time there would be an issue, growing issue that would,
- 5:14[SPEAKER_01]: quite potentially be the downfall of aces kingdom and so what he decides to do, what he feels is the wisest course of action is to enlist, then hey that any does so by using some of God's treasures.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_01]: He goes in the house the Lord, and takes out gold and silver.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_01]: Now, let's skip down for just a little while, and at that time, Hennenai, the Seer, this is still in St.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_01]: Chronicles, at that time Hennenai, the Seer, came to ace a king of Judah and sent him to him, because thou hast relied on the king of Syria, and not relied on the Lord that God, therefore is the host of the king of Syria,
- 5:56[SPEAKER_01]: escaped out of that hand.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_01]: We're not the Ethiopians of the Lubins.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_01]: A huge host with very many chariots in a horsemen yet because thou didst rely on the Lord.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_01]: He delivered them into thine hand.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_01]: The Possible just a moment.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_01]: This is very much the truth.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_01]: See, this seer, this man speaking on behalf of God.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_01]: This prophet is recalling to Ace's mind some victories of the past, and how God took care of him and his people, and now Ace is in another conundrum, and what he decides to do instead of relying on God.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_01]: Despite his good start, despite 30 something years of living for God doing the right things, he begins to
- 6:47[SPEAKER_01]: Ignore the God who had given him success in a time of crisis.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_01]: Instead of turning to God, he relied on his own strategies and sought help from the king of Syria.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_01]: And truthfully, this decision worked out in the short term, but it set a bad precedent and showed his lack of trust in God.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_01]: The prophet continues on there in St.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_01]: Chronicles, for the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_01]: Herein, thou hast done foolishly.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_01]: Therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_01]: In Asa is so angry that he puts the prophet in a prison house just because he was being told
- 7:42[SPEAKER_01]: But this begins a precedent for Asa to ignore all mighty God.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_01]: The same Chronicles chapter 16 verse 12, just a little further on, and Asa, in the 30 and 9th year of his reign.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_01]: So this particular occasion was from the 36th year when he was being blockated.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_01]: And now three years later, two years before his death, and Asa in the 30 and 9th year of his reign was diseased in his feet.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_01]: until his disease was exceeding great, yet in his disease he sought not to the Lord, but to the physicians, and asus slept with his fathers, meaning he died.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I want you to think about this for a moment.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_01]: Is there anything wrong with physicians?
- 8:24[SPEAKER_01]: No, friend.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not telling you to stop if you have a serious medical issue, do not take medical advice.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_01]: It tells you you just need to just trust God and pray on through.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_01]: But what we notice here in San Francisco 1612,
- 8:37[SPEAKER_01]: He sought not to the Lord at all.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't even talk to God in the least.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_01]: Now, friend, God puts tools in your hands, puts tools available to you so that you can get help.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes you need the help of a friend.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes you need the help of a brother or sister in Christ.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_01]: Many a time you can rely on the help of a pastor or a Christian spiritual leader.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_01]: But at the end of the day, if you think your Facebook, quote unquote friends, if you think your followers, if you think all of those Trump, your faith in Christ, and friend, we may have no faith to speak up in the first place.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_01]: We are ignoring God, even in his illness, a such host rely on physicians instead of seeking the Lord.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_01]: I want you to think about this powerful reminder for you and for me, Ignoring God is a grave mistake.
- 9:35[SPEAKER_01]: How often do we wake up and forget to give God some time?
- 9:39[SPEAKER_01]: We try to fix issues on our own, thinking we can handle them without God's help, but there is no problem, too big or too small that we should not seek God first.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_01]: I want you to think about this.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to read you a passage.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_01]: for a book quiet talks on prayer by SD Gordon and good quote I came across not long ago that was shared with me.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_01]: I want you to think about this.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to humanize our savior Jesus Christ but when he was on earth he was 100% God and 100% man and many things he did for an example to you and to me.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_01]: Here's what SD Gordon said in his book quiet talks on prayer.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_01]: How much prayer?
- 10:15[SPEAKER_01]: meant to Jesus.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_01]: It was not only his regular habit, but his resort in every emergency, however slight or serious.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_01]: When perplexed, he prayed, when pressed by work, he prayed, when hungry for fellowship he found it in prayer.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_01]: He chose his associates and received his messages upon his knees.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_01]: If tempted, he prayed, if a teagued embody or weary of his spirit, he had recourse to his
- 10:45[SPEAKER_01]: of prayer, prayer brought him unmeasured power at the beginning and kept the flow unbroken and undiminished.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_01]: There was no emergency, no difficulty, no necessity, no temptation that would not yield to prayer as he practiced it.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_01]: Jesus, our perfect example, He Himself, God Almighty, robed in human flesh, relied on prayer in every situation.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_01]: If He, Jesus wanted to leave us an example of seeking the Father continually, how much more should we?
- 11:26[SPEAKER_01]: Ace's life should serve as a warning.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_01]: Even if people would say nice things about us at our funeral,
- 11:33[SPEAKER_01]: friend I would hope I would sincerely pray that we have a real life that shows that we relied on God and we did not ignore him.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_01]: Think about that.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_01]: What a grave spiritual mistake that would be to ignore the master of all eternity.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_01]: And yet that's what Asa did.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_01]: I'd ask your friend,
- 12:00[SPEAKER_01]: How are you with God?
- 12:02[SPEAKER_01]: Are you on speaking terms right now?
- 12:04[SPEAKER_01]: If you are not, the failure in communication is not on his side of the connection.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_01]: Friend, I'd encourage you today to take stock, maybe take a little inventory of your fellowship with God, maybe you've been ignoring him.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_01]: to law.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_01]: I'll be honest with you.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_01]: Oftentimes, at these thoughts, they convict me.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_01]: How's my relationship with God?
- 12:33[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to take stock.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_01]: Will you?
- 12:35[SPEAKER_01]: We will continue this account in this message on three of the biggest spiritual states you could ever make.
