- 0:05Speaker 1: I wish that I could sing. I wish that I
- 0:07Speaker 1: could play a whole lot of songs for you in
- 0:09Speaker 1: this podcast, because I've had an awesome week this week
- 0:12Speaker 1: with my fifteen year old daughter. We had a night
- 0:15Speaker 1: to remember and involved a whole lot of music. But
- 0:18Speaker 1: if I play the music, the copyright laws and algorithms
- 0:22Speaker 1: will get me and nobody I'll be able to hear
- 0:23Speaker 1: the pod, So I'm just going to tell you about
- 0:25Speaker 1: it in a second. Plus, oh gosh, one of the
- 0:28Speaker 1: hardest things for every parent to overcome. It's hit me
- 0:31Speaker 1: really hard this week and I have not been at
- 0:34Speaker 1: my best. Kyle's got a new purchase that she wants
- 0:36Speaker 1: to tell you about because it's changing her life. And
- 0:38Speaker 1: we're going to celebrate that same daughter that had the
- 0:40Speaker 1: big musical experience with me, because she's just hitting sixes
- 0:44Speaker 1: all over the park at the moment. That and more.
- 0:46Speaker 1: To make your family happier based on what we're learning's
- 0:49Speaker 1: I'll do better tomorrow the Happy Family's Podcast Friday Edition
- 0:52Speaker 1: Stay with us. Hello, and welcome to the Happy Families
- 0:58Speaker 1: Podcast Friday addition, my name is doctor Justin Coulson. Here
- 1:02Speaker 1: with missus Happy Families. Mum to our six kids, Kylie.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Today we unpack the week that was and talk about
- 1:08Speaker 1: what worked and what didn't. You're up first, You've purchased
- 1:11Speaker 1: something that you're very excited about, and we've got a
- 1:13Speaker 1: daughter who is knocking out of the park, and you
- 1:15Speaker 1: just want to talk about why that's working, so that
- 1:18Speaker 1: other families can figure out how to replicate it with
- 1:21Speaker 1: their own kids.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Not sponsored at all, but we have been through I've
- 1:27Speaker 2: lost count how many alarm clocks we've been through over
- 1:30Speaker 2: the years, trying to find one that works well, is reliable.
- 1:34Speaker 1: And everybody's saying, what do you need alarm clock for?
- 1:36Speaker 1: Just use your phone?
- 1:37Speaker 2: We don't want our phones in our room.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Correct.
- 1:40Speaker 2: And we got online and we had a look and
- 1:43Speaker 2: we found this alarm clock and it's got the sunrise
- 1:46Speaker 2: alarm clock. And it has literally changed my life. Yes,
- 1:51Speaker 2: it really has. And the reason I'm sharing it is
- 1:54Speaker 2: because I've talked to a couple of parents who have gone,
- 1:56Speaker 2: I need that.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:58Speaker 2: So the sun this alarm clock works in two ways.
- 2:03Speaker 2: It actually has a light that lights up your room
- 2:07Speaker 2: like a sunrise wood. So it starts off with this
- 2:09Speaker 2: deep red kind of colored light. When you decide you
- 2:13Speaker 2: want it.
- 2:13Speaker 1: To, but it is really soft. It's like it doesn't
- 2:15Speaker 1: it doesn't overpower the room. It's not like the light
- 2:17Speaker 1: switches on. It just it slowly gets brighter, like the
- 2:21Speaker 1: sun coming up.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Yeah, and you can decide that you want that to
- 2:23Speaker 2: happen for half an hour before your alarm goes off,
- 2:26Speaker 2: or fifteen minutes, ten minutes, five minutes, whatever. So I've
- 2:28Speaker 2: got it on for fifteen minutes before our alarm goes off.
- 2:31Speaker 2: But then when my alarm pros off.
- 2:32Speaker 1: So I have to do a little flex here, which
- 2:34Speaker 1: means that at four forty five, our sunrise room is
- 2:37Speaker 1: getting light. Yeah.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Yeah. And then at five o'clock the birds start chirping,
- 2:43Speaker 2: because that's the alarm sound that I've picked. But I
- 2:45Speaker 2: could have rushing waves, or it's some lullaby music or
- 2:51Speaker 2: there's you can just have the.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Radio or your Spotify or whatever. Yeah yeah, but we've
- 2:55Speaker 1: got these birds chirping, and it just sounds like the
- 2:58Speaker 1: sun has come up.
- 2:59Speaker 2: And one starting to wake up.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, really natural, and the birds sound really nice.
- 3:04Speaker 2: And the challenge I have had my whole well not
- 3:07Speaker 2: my whole life, but since you and I have been married,
- 3:09Speaker 2: is you are the alarm goes off and it's a
- 3:12Speaker 2: big loud noise and you jump out of bed with
- 3:15Speaker 2: all of this energy, and I'm like, can I just
- 3:18Speaker 2: have five more minutes? And so what I love about
- 3:20Speaker 2: this this is such a gentle way for me to
- 3:23Speaker 2: wake up. I actually wake up when the light goes
- 3:26Speaker 2: on because I am very sensitive to light, so I
- 3:28Speaker 2: am aware that it's there, but I know I've got
- 3:31Speaker 2: fifteen minutes that I can just lie there and kind
- 3:34Speaker 2: of and so sometimes I will actually sleep through it,
- 3:37Speaker 2: and other times it's just this gentle like awareness that
- 3:40Speaker 2: it's gonna be time to get up soon. And so
- 3:43Speaker 2: when those birds start chirping, I'm ready to get out
- 3:45Speaker 2: of bed. So I'm just sharing that if anyone is
- 3:49Speaker 2: really struggling or lights a nice slow warm up to
- 3:52Speaker 2: get out of bed. This has changed my life.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Yeah, and again hashtag not sponsored. I've just looked it
- 3:59Speaker 1: up now and I'm going to link to it. The
- 4:00Speaker 1: show notes it's called the Sunrise Alarm Clock. It's like
- 4:02Speaker 1: ninety bucks on Amazon. And the main reason we've done
- 4:05Speaker 1: this is because we do not want to have our
- 4:08Speaker 1: phones in our bedroom. We want to wake up and
- 4:11Speaker 1: not have the phone be the first thing we touch,
- 4:13Speaker 1: first thing we look at, first thing that grabs our attention.
- 4:15Speaker 1: We want to wake up a little bit more naturally
- 4:17Speaker 1: and give our brains time to just adjust to the day. Ideally,
- 4:21Speaker 1: I mean we go exercise after that. Right, So the
- 4:24Speaker 1: whole thing is, let's wake up and not touch the
- 4:26Speaker 1: phone for the first hour, hour and a half of
- 4:28Speaker 1: our day. How amazing would that be to just let
- 4:30Speaker 1: our brains be normal and not get that dopamine hijack
- 4:33Speaker 1: that starts first thing? So I link to that in
- 4:35Speaker 1: the show notes The sunrise alarm clock not sponsored, but
- 4:40Speaker 1: available in the Happy Family.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Oh and one more thing you have to know, because
- 4:43Speaker 2: the other reason this came up was one of my
- 4:46Speaker 2: friends said that she's really sensitive, so she doesn't like
- 4:49Speaker 2: those digital clocks because the light from the numbers shines.
- 4:53Speaker 2: This has a dimer, so at nighttime we literally dim
- 4:56Speaker 2: it so you can't even see what time it is,
- 4:58Speaker 2: or you can see it like really really.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Faintly, which is really good because if you dim it
- 5:01Speaker 1: all the way down, when you get a bit older
- 5:04Speaker 1: and you have to go to the fwallow the middle
- 5:05Speaker 1: of the night, you don't look at the clock, so
- 5:07Speaker 1: you don't get into going, oh, my goodness, it's four
- 5:09Speaker 1: to fifteen, I've got a good up in a half
- 5:10Speaker 1: an hour. You just get back in a bit and
- 5:11Speaker 1: go back to sleep because you can't see what time
- 5:13Speaker 1: it is, and you haven't touched your phone because your
- 5:14Speaker 1: phone's one in the bedroom and the dimmer.
- 5:16Speaker 2: On the it's so good, it's so good. Just check
- 5:20Speaker 2: it out.
- 5:20Speaker 1: So that's your old about it tomorrow. You don't get no,
- 5:22Speaker 1: it's not going to talk about it.
- 5:23Speaker 2: But it actually leads in really lovely because at the
- 5:27Speaker 2: beginning of the year, you and I set some really
- 5:30Speaker 2: big health goals for us. And my mum actually asked
- 5:33Speaker 2: me the other day what I was training for because
- 5:36Speaker 2: last year I did a mini and I'm saying very
- 5:39Speaker 2: mini triathlon with my daughter, and she kind of figured
- 5:43Speaker 2: there must be some big event happening. Well, the big
- 5:45Speaker 2: event is getting old. I'm getting old.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Best answer, ever, what are you training for old age?
- 5:50Speaker 1: And I might add, and I don't say this in
- 5:52Speaker 1: a disrespectful way, because life is challenging in a variety
- 5:55Speaker 1: of ways for a variety of different people. But your
- 5:57Speaker 1: mum has not aged well and she uses a walker
- 6:02Speaker 1: and she's about to have to get a mattress to
- 6:04Speaker 1: help her to get out of bed, Like she's at
- 6:05Speaker 1: an age now where those she lacks the strength that
- 6:09Speaker 1: she needs. So it's kind of a bit of a
- 6:11Speaker 1: pointed thing to say, and you weren't saying it in
- 6:13Speaker 1: a nasty way, but training for old age, like we
- 6:16Speaker 1: want to be able to pick up the grandkids, We
- 6:17Speaker 1: want to be able to get out of bed without
- 6:20Speaker 1: needing mechanical assistance, those sorts of things when we're in
- 6:23Speaker 1: our seventies and eighties and nineties.
- 6:26Speaker 2: But our children are watching and they are starting to
- 6:29Speaker 2: kind of catch on. And our fifteen year old came
- 6:32Speaker 2: to us a few weeks into the year and she said,
- 6:34Speaker 2: I think that I want to ride to Bible study
- 6:36Speaker 2: class each morning. That's a big deal. It's a twenty
- 6:40Speaker 2: k bike ride along some pretty major roads. There is
- 6:44Speaker 2: no way she could do it on her own. And
- 6:48Speaker 2: so you and I looked at each other and kind
- 6:51Speaker 2: of went, how do we make this happen? Because this
- 6:53Speaker 2: is going to interfere with our schedules in the morning,
- 6:56Speaker 2: our exercise goals. And we did shuffling and we worked
- 7:01Speaker 2: things out, and I just I really just want to
- 7:04Speaker 2: give her a massive shout out. We're six weeks in now.
- 7:08Speaker 2: She has missed two days of this bike ride because
- 7:11Speaker 2: of the weather has been so bad.
- 7:12Speaker 1: But we've through her saying I want to sleep, I
- 7:14Speaker 1: don't want to get up at five o'clock and do this.
- 7:16Speaker 1: She just we told her stay asleep. The weather's bad.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Yeah, we've ridden through some sprinkles, we've ridden through a
- 7:22Speaker 2: little bit of rain. But the two days we missed
- 7:25Speaker 2: that they were crazy wins one of the days and
- 7:29Speaker 2: torrential rain the other day. And the thing that stands
- 7:32Speaker 2: out to me, I guess my little kind of take
- 7:35Speaker 2: home is that when our kids come to us with
- 7:38Speaker 2: their big goals, like this was a big goal for her,
- 7:42Speaker 2: and to be honest, we really did not think that
- 7:45Speaker 2: she would stick it out. But six weeks in, I'm
- 7:48Speaker 2: looking at this kid and she's I think if you
- 7:51Speaker 2: were to ask hers, she would tell you it's the
- 7:52Speaker 2: best part of her day. It's just such a great
- 7:56Speaker 2: way to start the day. She's got more energy. She
- 7:59Speaker 2: gets off the bike with a smile on her face,
- 8:01Speaker 2: and she's really proud of herself because she's stuck with
- 8:05Speaker 2: something that she probably wouldn't have thought.
- 8:08Speaker 1: She would yeah, And it's meant that we've had to
- 8:10Speaker 1: do things differently. We're not doing exactly what we want
- 8:13Speaker 1: to do, how we want to do it. It's coming
- 8:15Speaker 1: to sacrifice to us. But that's what you do for
- 8:17Speaker 1: your kids. Just you keep on sacrificing, You keep on
- 8:20Speaker 1: doing what is necessary to help the kids go where
- 8:22Speaker 1: they need to go, and eventually you kind of it's
- 8:26Speaker 1: still working. It's not ideal, but it's still working.
- 8:28Speaker 2: But here's the thing. I don't feel like we are sacrificing.
- 8:31Speaker 2: We're getting to spend this time with her in a
- 8:33Speaker 2: way that we wouldn't have been able to spend time
- 8:35Speaker 2: with her. Firstly, and secondly, while it's not the way
- 8:39Speaker 2: we would have done our exercise each morning, for me personally,
- 8:43Speaker 2: it's actually stretching me because I have to write a.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Different Well, we've worked got a way to make this
- 8:50Speaker 1: work for us. A wise person once told me, sacrifices
- 8:54Speaker 1: when you give up something of lesser value of something
- 8:55Speaker 1: greater value.
- 8:56Speaker 2: And that's where I think we're at Lily. Lily could
- 8:59Speaker 2: never have done this on her, but doing it with
- 9:01Speaker 2: us has meant that it's more enjoyable for her. Firstly,
- 9:04Speaker 2: it's more achievable than it ever could have been, and
- 9:07Speaker 2: as a result, she's sticking to it.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Okay, so take our message by the whatever it is
- 9:11Speaker 1: sunrise alarm clock that we're linked to in the show notes,
- 9:13Speaker 1: and we don't get any kickbacks or anything like that.
- 9:14Speaker 1: I've just put the link to Amazon in the show
- 9:16Speaker 1: notes and getting the kids doing the things that are
- 9:19Speaker 1: important to them in a way that is sustainable and
- 9:21Speaker 1: supporting them. And I keep on saying resilience is relational. Yeah,
- 9:25Speaker 1: that seems to move the needle all right. Up next
- 9:28Speaker 1: on the pod, I have four things. Four things. I'm
- 9:30Speaker 1: a little about it tomorrow because it's just been such
- 9:32Speaker 1: an awesome week. I can't wait to share them with
- 9:34Speaker 1: you and they may just move the needle in making
- 9:37Speaker 1: your family happier. We're back. This is the Happy Family's podcast.
- 9:47Speaker 1: Thank you so much for choosing to listen to the
- 9:49Speaker 1: pod each day. We really really are grateful that you
- 9:52Speaker 1: take time to be with us. On Monday, I want
- 9:56Speaker 1: to do an entire podcast in this My oldly bet
- 9:58Speaker 1: it tomorrow was going to be about something that and
- 10:00Speaker 1: on Wednesday afternoon, and it's pretty big. The CEO and
- 10:06Speaker 1: co founder of Roadblocks was in Australia. He was here
- 10:10Speaker 1: to meet with politicians. He's here to listen and to
- 10:14Speaker 1: understand and to make sure that he can do everything
- 10:17Speaker 1: that he can so that Roadblocks is a platform that
- 10:20Speaker 1: children will be allowed to use in this country. And
- 10:24Speaker 1: I was invited for a one on one with him?
- 10:27Speaker 1: Why are you because of all the people who do
- 10:30Speaker 1: the sort of work that I do, I've been pretty
- 10:34Speaker 1: I've been pretty noisy about how I feel about Roadblocks,
- 10:36Speaker 1: and they wanted me to meet him. They wanted me
- 10:37Speaker 1: to have a conversation with him, and I really want
- 10:39Speaker 1: to spend the entire day talking about that on the pod.
- 10:43Speaker 1: But because this is old be better tomorrow, and so
- 10:46Speaker 1: much happened and I have so many thoughts, it would
- 10:49Speaker 1: be inappropriate for me to try to squeeze it into
- 10:51Speaker 1: a couple of minutes. So on Monday, we're going to
- 10:54Speaker 1: unpack that big time. David Bazooki, the CEO and co
- 10:58Speaker 1: founder of Roadblocks. I wasn't allowed to take notes and
- 11:02Speaker 1: I haven't recorded anything. I'm just allowed to share my
- 11:04Speaker 1: reflections on the experience. So you know how I feel
- 11:08Speaker 1: about Roadblocks. It's going to be a banger. I can't
- 11:11Speaker 1: wait for Monday's pod, but I wanted to sneak that
- 11:13Speaker 1: in now as part of our rojitc Bet tomorrow. Second
- 11:15Speaker 1: thing that I wanted to share is something that I
- 11:18Speaker 1: think every parent needs to know, and that is that
- 11:20Speaker 1: you are stronger than you think, and so are your children.
- 11:23Speaker 1: I've been doing these presentations around the country and last
- 11:27Speaker 1: week I was in Sydney. I did a student session,
- 11:32Speaker 1: full school assembly, something like six or seven hundred kids
- 11:35Speaker 1: in the audience. I had this brilliant experience, like it
- 11:39Speaker 1: was so good. The presentation was called Level Up and
- 11:42Speaker 1: it was designed to help students to be focused and
- 11:46Speaker 1: to be effective and to just push it a little
- 11:48Speaker 1: bit harder and really really do things that matter. I
- 11:52Speaker 1: started off with one simple principle, you are stronger than
- 11:56Speaker 1: you think. That was the main thing that I wanted
- 11:59Speaker 1: to share and Kylie I asked the teachers to pick
- 12:02Speaker 1: two of the most competitive boys that they could find
- 12:04Speaker 1: in the entire school. So they got a Year nine boy.
- 12:06Speaker 1: His name was Jamie. He's a motocross champion, so really fit,
- 12:09Speaker 1: really strong, really healthy, really animated kind of kid. And
- 12:12Speaker 1: they picked one of the Year twelve prefects. His name
- 12:14Speaker 1: was Alex goes to the gym every day, strong healthy.
- 12:18Speaker 1: I wanted competitive, strong kids. These two boys came up
- 12:21Speaker 1: on the stage and I asked him to a plank
- 12:23Speaker 1: and just he could outlast the other. I asked him
- 12:25Speaker 1: how long they thought that they could go, and said,
- 12:27Speaker 1: what way we go?
- 12:28Speaker 2: Hit?
- 12:29Speaker 1: Here it goes. And for the first two minutes it
- 12:30Speaker 1: was pretty boring.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Well how long did they think they could last?
- 12:34Speaker 1: They thought two minutes would be pretty good. Two and
- 12:35Speaker 1: a half minutes would be pretty good.
- 12:37Speaker 2: Were they confident?
- 12:38Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, like these they looked at each
- 12:41Speaker 1: other Year nine boy, Year twelve boy, and you could
- 12:43Speaker 1: just see you could see the testosterone rippling across the stage.
- 12:46Speaker 1: They were ready for this, So I said, ready to go.
- 12:48Speaker 1: They've gotten down and they've assumed the position. And at
- 12:51Speaker 1: two minutes they were they were going strong. Two and
- 12:56Speaker 1: a half minutes, that's a long plank, that was a
- 12:59Speaker 1: long point. Was still going strong. Three minutes, starting to
- 13:02Speaker 1: get shaky. Three and a half minutes, both still going
- 13:04Speaker 1: but look at me, looking at each other like I
- 13:06Speaker 1: think I'm going to die. And finally, at three minutes
- 13:09Speaker 1: forty five, the year twelve boy, Alex finally cracked, and
- 13:14Speaker 1: half a second later, Jamie let it go because he
- 13:16Speaker 1: knew that he'd won. I mean, they were in trouble.
- 13:20Speaker 1: Research shows that we've got about forty percent more in
- 13:22Speaker 1: the tank than we usually think we have. And when
- 13:26Speaker 1: we say I'm I'm trying to pour from an empty
- 13:28Speaker 1: carp I'm empty. I've got nothing left. Sometimes that is true.
- 13:32Speaker 1: I'm not saying it's not true. But quite often we
- 13:35Speaker 1: have more than we think. We are stronger than we think,
- 13:37Speaker 1: we push through more than we think our pt.
- 13:40Speaker 2: He literally faces me, so I can't see the clock,
- 13:44Speaker 2: and I swear whenever I ask him how much wrong,
- 13:48Speaker 2: he says another ten.
- 13:50Speaker 1: He's not even counting. He doesn't even cares off. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 13:56Speaker 1: It was just such a great experience, though, to watch
- 13:58Speaker 1: these boys and see the whole school get behind them,
- 14:00Speaker 1: cheer them on, and see their success. But three minutes
- 14:02Speaker 1: forty five for a plank is amazing. But to be
- 14:04Speaker 1: able to teach this principle you are stronger than you think,
- 14:08Speaker 1: and that's what I really wanted to share in I'll
- 14:12Speaker 1: do better tomorrow.
- 14:12Speaker 2: But they almost doubled what they thought. Yeah, you know,
- 14:15Speaker 2: they were confident with two minutes.
- 14:16Speaker 1: And the data says that you can do about forty
- 14:18Speaker 1: percent more than you think you can, which is pretty wild.
- 14:21Speaker 1: So that's the second thing of the four that I
- 14:23Speaker 1: wanted to share. Our time is all but up. So
- 14:25Speaker 1: just briefly, when I got back from a massive week
- 14:27Speaker 1: in Sydney, I met Lily, fifteen year old in Brisbane.
- 14:30Speaker 1: She caught the train from the Sunshine Coast down to Brizzee.
- 14:32Speaker 1: I picked her up at Bowen Hill station. We went
- 14:34Speaker 1: and got some grilled burghers for dinner, and then we
- 14:37Speaker 1: walked to sun Corpse Stadium for some edge sharing. And
- 14:45Speaker 1: I discovered that I was stronger than I thought too,
- 14:48Speaker 1: because we didn't have seats. We were on the field
- 14:50Speaker 1: and we were standing. Our tickets were not bad, but
- 14:54Speaker 1: they weren't great, and I just had to stand in
- 14:57Speaker 1: place for five hours because we watched fans and then
- 15:00Speaker 1: there was the gap of the intermission, and then that
- 15:02Speaker 1: Sharon came on and it was a three hour concert
- 15:05Speaker 1: plus fans joy plus the intermission, and then we had
- 15:06Speaker 1: to walk out of there.
- 15:07Speaker 2: Who enjoyed it the most?
- 15:08Speaker 1: Lily and I would have left halfway through, because the
- 15:11Speaker 1: start in the end were really great, but the middle
- 15:13Speaker 1: was not that strong, and Sharon is not Billy Joel.
- 15:15Speaker 1: He doesn't have the same depth in his catalog that
- 15:18Speaker 1: some of the great artists. He's good, well he is good.
- 15:21Speaker 2: How old is Billy Joel?
- 15:22Speaker 1: Of course? Yeah, yeah, but it was it was a
- 15:24Speaker 1: good show. I'm really glad we went, but I would
- 15:26Speaker 1: have walked out way earlier. But Lily just loved it.
- 15:29Speaker 1: And again you've already said it, Kylie. We make sacrifices
- 15:33Speaker 1: for our kids. They'll never fully understand what we've done.
- 15:35Speaker 2: What it really wasn't a sacrifice.
- 15:39Speaker 1: If I was going to take you and you were like,
- 15:41Speaker 1: what do you take Lily, it was.
- 15:44Speaker 2: A huge sacrifice. It really was.
- 15:46Speaker 1: And now I want to contradict everything that I've said
- 15:48Speaker 1: about you're stronger than you think, because as a result
- 15:50Speaker 1: of my late night on Friday night at ed Sheeron
- 15:52Speaker 1: and then you and I went on a double date
- 15:53Speaker 1: with some friends which didn't until midnight on Saturday night,
- 15:56Speaker 1: I was cactus on. I was just wrecked. On Sunday
- 16:01Speaker 1: we both were. I just I made it, even though
- 16:04Speaker 1: you didn't go to a cheerum. And then on Monday night,
- 16:07Speaker 1: Oh my goodness, this is the bit where the parenting
- 16:09Speaker 1: expert says he blew it on Monday night. I was
- 16:12Speaker 1: just in pieces. Our reconditioning isn't working. It was a hot, hot,
- 16:15Speaker 1: hot day. I've been in the office all day. I'm
- 16:17Speaker 1: not coping with all the stress that I've got. I
- 16:18Speaker 1: was exhausted from Friday night and Saturday night. The kids
- 16:21Speaker 1: would at each other. There was just so much. And
- 16:23Speaker 1: I'm standing there with my hands and the thing doing
- 16:25Speaker 1: the dishes for the third time that day. Even I
- 16:26Speaker 1: don't have toime to the dishes once that day because
- 16:29Speaker 1: I've got so much going on. And I just was.
- 16:31Speaker 1: I was unkind. I was crank. I was unkind. I
- 16:34Speaker 1: was just cranky. I was short tempered, I.
- 16:36Speaker 2: Was I was being a martyr. I being a martyr
- 16:40Speaker 2: because you didn't have to do the dishes.
- 16:41Speaker 1: I didn't have. We had two different children do it
- 16:44Speaker 1: around the little bit. I didn't slam any dishes. They
- 16:46Speaker 1: would have broken if I slammed the dishes Stronger than
- 16:49Speaker 1: you think. I still got the dishes done. We did,
- 16:52Speaker 1: but gosh, it was hard.
- 16:53Speaker 2: Just so everybody heard that we did.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Yes, you came and joined me. You came and joined me,
- 16:58Speaker 1: and that helped me to feel a little bit better
- 16:59Speaker 1: out life, stronger than you think. You can get through it,
- 17:03Speaker 1: but how you get through it matters, and if you're tired,
- 17:05Speaker 1: it's really hard to get through it with dignity and grace.
- 17:08Speaker 1: And I was a little indignified and little less than
- 17:10Speaker 1: graceful on Monday night. Kids, if you listen to the pod,
- 17:13Speaker 1: I'm sorry. So my older better tomorrow is we make
- 17:18Speaker 1: sacrifices for the kids, and it's worth it. But we're
- 17:20Speaker 1: better as parents when we're not tired.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Well, we're not sacrificing sleep.
- 17:26Speaker 1: And you are stronger than you think. Have a great weekend.
