- 0:05Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:09access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing
- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, Demanded by
- 0:16celebrities, CEOs and even royalty, Adam Cox.
- 0:20These recordings took place live from Adam Smith in London's
- 0:24world famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:39Hi, it's Adam here. And you're about to listen to a
- 0:43hypnosis session that originally was going to be about weight
- 0:47loss, but actually ended up having nothing to do with weight
- 0:49loss at all. And that's because the client I
- 0:52was working with felt like they wanted to lose weight, but
- 0:56actually the weight they wanted to lose was actually coming from
- 0:59a place of low self worth. They didn't really like
- 1:02themself. They didn't really feel worthy,
- 1:06and they didn't like who they saw in the mirror.
- 1:10And what became evident in the session with this client is that
- 1:14they had had a lot of mistreatment and unfairness in
- 1:18their life when they were young. They had a grandparent that was.
- 1:22Very. Rude and mean to them and didn't
- 1:25treat them very well and when they get older they were.
- 1:27Excluded a lot. And in their marriage they were
- 1:32criticized and blamed and shamed and exploited.
- 1:36And because of that, what they started to do is their voice to
- 1:41themself had become an echo of all of these mean people in
- 1:44their life. So they ended up not liking
- 1:48themselves very much, being very critical of themself, being, you
- 1:52know, using shame and blame to themself.
- 1:55And that can lead to deep feelings of unhappiness and.
- 1:59A lack of. Joy and and some people would
- 2:02perceive that as feeling like. Depressed or.
- 2:04Sad all the time and anyone would be.
- 2:07If the voice in their head wasn't encouraging and
- 2:09supportive and loving and kind and considerate and it was just
- 2:13always critical and mean and vindictive, then of course
- 2:18that's going to create an emotional response.
- 2:21So what this hypnosis session does is it enabled this client
- 2:25at their current age to go back to themself as a child and be
- 2:30very kind and encouraging and supporting to themselves as a
- 2:33child and then as a teenager and then as someone just about to
- 2:38enter this kind of long relationship.
- 2:40But from the perspective of support and love and
- 2:43encouragement and kindness and respect.
- 2:48And what this session actually does with teaching them how to
- 2:51be kind and accepting of themself.
- 2:54Because criticism has the basis that you're not good as you are
- 2:57and you need to change. Acceptance says you're good and
- 3:01if you want to do other things, great, let's encourage that.
- 3:04But it doesn't come from a place of lack of scarcity or
- 3:09inadequacy. And that's the key to this.
- 3:11And then it comes all the way up to the present where they got to
- 3:14imagine actually being kind and accepting and encouraging of
- 3:18themselves at their current age so that it could form a better
- 3:22relationship with themself. Because actually your internal
- 3:26experience largely is not proportionate to the
- 3:30relationship that anyone else has with you.
- 3:32First and foremost, it's the relationship that you have with
- 3:35yourself. And I'm explaining this from a
- 3:38position and and real experience of for someone for most of my
- 3:44childhood years all the way up into my mid 20s, I didn't like
- 3:48who I was. I didn't respect who I was and I
- 3:51was very critical and very, very mean to myself effectively and
- 3:58that changed in my mid 20s. Hypnotherapy had a a big part to
- 4:02play. I did lots of hypnosis on myself
- 4:04and I let. Go of this.
- 4:05Belief of not being good enough. And actually I like who I am
- 4:09now. I would if I knew me.
- 4:11You know, this is not meant to be arrogant.
- 4:13I'd like to hang out with a guy like me.
- 4:15I would want to do good work with someone like me, and I
- 4:19didn't have that relationship with myself before.
- 4:22My internal experience completely changes my
- 4:24relationship with other people, and I'm a big believer of the
- 4:28law of the lid that you can't love anyone else at a higher
- 4:32level than you love yourself. You can't like other people more
- 4:34than you like yourself. So when I didn't like myself, I
- 4:37didn't like many other people either.
- 4:39Because I would see the. Inadequacies or deficiencies in
- 4:43other people, that's the essence of this hypnosis session.
- 4:46So if you can resonate with any of these elements that I'm
- 4:49saying here, I think you'll get some value from it.
- 4:52It was created for an individual, and that was a lady.
- 4:56She was in a marriage with a man, and she had a mean
- 4:59grandmother. Some of these references aren't
- 5:01going to make sense for you, but the essence at its core is being
- 5:05kind and loving and encouraging to a younger version of yourself
- 5:09all the way up to the present. And if you.
- 5:11Like the idea of having a bespoke session created just for
- 5:14you or working with me directly. I would encourage you to look in
- 5:18the description. There's various ways that you
- 5:20can learn how to work with me. That might be a suitability
- 5:23test, or it might be a page that just explains how I work with
- 5:26people. They're all in the description
- 5:29of this episode. Just click more information.
- 5:31Have a look there. For now though, I would
- 5:34encourage you to find a quiet, comfortable place where you're
- 5:36not going to be distracted or disturbed to relax and enjoy the
- 5:40session. Take a deep.
- 6:04Breath in and. As you breathe in, breathe in
- 6:13that slow, long breath of relaxation.
- 6:18And. As you exhale, feel a wonderful
- 6:22feeling of release, as if in that outward breath.
- 6:27It's a release valve of any pent up tension, stress or worries
- 6:33that maybe you've been carrying for a while.
- 6:39Breathing and relaxation and exhaling tension.
- 6:46Each breath enables you to drift deeper and deeper.
- 6:54Relaxed can just do a scan of your body, any tension in your
- 7:02jaw, your neck, your shoulders, your arms or your legs as you
- 7:07set the intention of releasing that.
- 7:12Each breath enables a release, even incrementally, and I wonder
- 7:24what colour hope would have if it had a colour.
- 7:30Maybe something bright, vibrant. And as you breathe in, imagine
- 7:36breathing in that colour of hope.
- 7:42And as you exhale, imagine exhaling something dark and
- 7:48grey. Any emotions that feel like
- 7:52they've been repressed or suppressed deep within and just
- 7:56allow them to leave your body. Any sadness, anger, frustration,
- 8:04just allow it to leave. And the very act of breathing in
- 8:10that resourceful feeling of hope and exhaling anything that no
- 8:16longer is needed. Consider it an emotional
- 8:20transfusion. Breathing in the resources your
- 8:25emotions need and exhaling anything that is toxic or just
- 8:34unuseful. And therefore, the deeper you
- 8:38breathe, the more relaxed you feel.
- 8:43And the more relaxed you feel the deeper you breathe.
- 8:48Each breath takes you deeper than the last.
- 8:54As your body relaxes, your imagination awakens, and I
- 9:02wonder if you can create a memory in your mind of an old
- 9:09home from childhood, early childhood, maybe just four or
- 9:20five years old. Just allow your imagination to
- 9:27take you back in time at your current age with all of your
- 9:33knowledge and experience, but you get to go all the way back
- 9:40back then and just allow your body to relax and imagine.
- 9:50Imagine being an invisible observer of your childhood back
- 9:56then. See you at that period in life
- 10:00when you were smiling and happy playing with friends.
- 10:10And I want you to see all of those wonderful qualities in
- 10:14that version of you. Capable, smart, curious, and
- 10:24just observe. As you see those dynamics, I
- 10:29want you to see the talent, the beauty, see all of those
- 10:36wonderful qualities that sometimes a child can't see in
- 10:42themself. But you see it, you know it, and
- 10:47just observe. And I want you to imagine seeing
- 10:54time go on, and I want you to see a grandmother suddenly being
- 11:01present in that same space. And I want you to observe the
- 11:08unfairness, the mistreatment. I want you to observe because
- 11:16you can observe seeds being planted in that young mind of
- 11:22ideas and beliefs that were never true, words that were said
- 11:29with I'll intent. And I want you to imagine.
- 11:36Imagine being the second grandmother in that home.
- 11:44I want you to imagine being the kind, encouraging, loving and
- 11:50supportive grandmother in that home.
- 11:57The kind of person that that younger version of you could
- 12:01share anything with. Hopes and dreams, but also
- 12:08worries and sadness. And because you know what that
- 12:13real grandmother said, you know what needs to be said to that
- 12:19child so that you don't believe things that aren't true.
- 12:26As you breathe in and breathe out, I want you to imagine
- 12:29there's a time and a place where that young version of you,
- 12:34perhaps just 8 or 9 or 10 years old, used to spend a lot of
- 12:40time. Maybe a bedroom or a garden, a
- 12:46place in the park or a place after school.
- 12:48And when you see that younger version of you, they're by
- 12:53themself. Let me know by nodding your
- 12:56head. That's it.
- 13:00And I want you to say hello to that young version of you and
- 13:07just tell them. Tell them you care.
- 13:12Tell them that you want the best.
- 13:16Maybe even tell them a secret that you're not really another
- 13:21grandmother. You are them from the future.
- 13:27But that younger version of you is smart.
- 13:30There's only one way that you can convince them that you are
- 13:35them from the future. You would have to tell them a
- 13:39secret that only they know. And if you can think of a secret
- 13:48and tell that younger version of you that secret to convince them
- 13:53that you are them from the future and let me know by
- 13:56nodding your head. That's it.
- 14:03And then imagine having a heart to heart with that younger
- 14:08version of you. Tell them how proud you are.
- 14:15Tell them, but they are wonderful, so smart, so capable.
- 14:23But tell them the things they're not used to hearing, that they
- 14:27are beautiful, they are lovely, they are interesting.
- 14:34And not just interesting, they are fascinating.
- 14:40And you're not using flattery. You're not telling lies.
- 14:45I want you to see those qualities in that younger
- 14:47version of you. Here's the interesting thing.
- 14:54When a child hears that they're beautiful, they smile more.
- 14:59And when a child hears that they're interesting, they want
- 15:03to share more of what they know and how they see the world.
- 15:08I want you to tell all of the things to this child that you
- 15:11wish you would have heard back then, and then I want you to
- 15:18listen. If they feel lonely, you want to
- 15:22listen. If they feel sad, you want to
- 15:26listen. Attention to a child is like
- 15:32sunshine and rainwater to a flower.
- 15:37Really listen because they matter.
- 15:42Listen because they're important and you don't have to offer
- 15:49judgement or help. Listening's enough.
- 15:56Give them big hugs. Tell them they're loved.
- 16:00Tell them they're worthy. I want you to imagine how it
- 16:05would feel if you weren't just a friend, but the best friend to
- 16:12that younger version of you. Honest, warm, genuinely on her
- 16:24side and notice subtle clues in their facial expression that
- 16:33you're connecting with them. This is what they needed to hear
- 16:47and I want you to tell this young child that what happened
- 16:52to them was done to you. You are them in the future and
- 17:03all of these things that feel strange or unfair sometimes have
- 17:07good intentions. Moving up a grade, having to
- 17:15deal with a difficult family member.
- 17:22But friendships when they were disrupted were not their fault.
- 17:28They are not to blame. It's not because there's
- 17:31something wrong with them. I want you to let that child
- 17:36know that their value doesn't change or diminish just because
- 17:42someone else can't recognize it. You recognize it.
- 17:49You recognize all of those wonderful qualities.
- 18:01Tell them that they don't need the approval, acceptance of
- 18:09others to have worth, and allow that younger girl to receive
- 18:16what is being offered to her. Recognition, acceptance, love,
- 18:23encouragement, support. You see the value and you see
- 18:31the worth, even if nobody else did.
- 18:42And I want you to imagine travelling forwards in time
- 18:52perhaps. Perhaps it was just after a
- 18:57grandparent like left. I want you to see that girl
- 19:01that's maybe 13 or 14 years old. Many teenagers are insecure.
- 19:11Doubtful. A lot of teenagers start
- 19:18deciding how valuable they are based on how much attention they
- 19:21get from other people. They don't want you to spend
- 19:30time in that place. And maybe they were living
- 19:32somewhere different or maybe the same place, but meet them again
- 19:38and see how happy they are to see you.
- 19:42They're older now, and I want you to compliment them
- 19:50authentically. Wow, you look amazing.
- 19:58Tell them how proud of them you are.
- 20:04Tell them all the things that you know are true now when you
- 20:08think back to that young version of you with all of that
- 20:12potential. Tell them how good they looked.
- 20:23I want you to really build up their confidence, build up their
- 20:29self esteem. Tell them things that make them
- 20:34smile. I don't want you to give a gift,
- 20:42a gift to that 13 year old version of you that she needed
- 20:45back then. Maybe it's something as simple
- 20:49as self love, self respect, self esteem, or just a sense of
- 20:57perspective. But imagine giving a glowing
- 21:01ball of energy back to that 13 or 14 year old version of you
- 21:07and they accepted willingly. See how their body changes,
- 21:11their facial expressions change as you give them that resource.
- 21:17And in return they give you something wonderful because
- 21:22there's a quality that you had back when you were 13 or 14
- 21:27years old that you've lost connection with.
- 21:32That younger version of you has it and you need it now.
- 21:37You've given them that resource, that glowing ball of energy, and
- 21:40they return. They reciprocate with something
- 21:44you need right now and you take it and you don't have to know
- 21:50what it is, just feel what it is.
- 21:55Take that resource, hold it to your chest, feel it absorb in
- 22:00your body and feel that that quality that you had in
- 22:05abundance is now rippling through time to your present.
- 22:10I want you to give that 13 year old version of you a big hug.
- 22:22Tell them you will see them in the future.
- 22:27And I want you to imagine. Imagine seeing that version of
- 22:33you going through time just before marriage was about to
- 22:40start, and maybe there is excitement or trepidation or
- 22:51something else. And I want you to imagine
- 22:59telling that younger version of you what this marriage will be
- 23:02like. A lot of hard work, blaming and
- 23:10shaming and criticizing and then everything that followed.
- 23:16But here in this space, reality isn't important.
- 23:26I want you to ask that version of you at that age what their
- 23:33ideal partner would be like. What qualities?
- 23:40Maybe someone handsome, kind, loving, supportive.
- 23:50And then imagine, from your perspective, morphing into the
- 23:56ideal partner that that younger version of you truly desired and
- 24:02deserved. And just imagine what that
- 24:07relationship would have been like if that version of you got
- 24:14all of that love and kindness and support, encouragement,
- 24:20recognition that they truly deserved.
- 24:27I have a feeling that version of you would be abundant in
- 24:30confidence, self esteem perhaps would have come out of their
- 24:38shell more, had more time to pursue not just work but hobbies
- 24:45and interests. I want you.
- 24:50To be the partner to yourself that you always wanted.
- 24:56Respectful, listening, attentive and you can distort time.
- 25:03In this place, a minute can be a year.
- 25:11What would it feel like for you to give all of that love and for
- 25:14you to receive all of that love? And I want you to see that
- 25:25version of you at that age through the eyes of someone with
- 25:28unconditional love. See how beautiful you were.
- 25:35See all of the qualities, but not the deficits.
- 25:43Hear the word, saying what you admire, what you're grateful
- 25:47for. If you could imagine saying it
- 25:53and hearing it simultaneously, let me know by nodding your head
- 26:00that's in. And imagine that feeling
- 26:03rippling through time from then to now.
- 26:09Flower, rather than being deprived of sunshine and
- 26:13rainwater, was able to thrive, get everything that it needed.
- 26:19It was able to flourish, non starve, and then go forwards in
- 26:25time to just before retirement. You're still you from the
- 26:33future. But tell that version of you
- 26:35that this is going to be a roller coaster.
- 26:39You're going to get some news. It's going to be tough, but
- 26:45you'll handle it. You are more capable and more
- 26:48resilient than you realize. And I want you to tell that
- 26:55younger version of you that retirement doesn't have to be
- 27:00lonely or boring or just waiting.
- 27:07It's an opportunity. Give that younger version of you
- 27:10permission to live life on your terms.
- 27:17Tell them that they can if they want.
- 27:23If they want to explore a relationship, they can.
- 27:26If they want to take up a new hobby, they can.
- 27:30They want to make new friends they can and just compliment
- 27:37them. Recognize them, listen and allow
- 27:44that to ripple through to the present.
- 27:48And then imagine meeting your current self.
- 27:52See yourself and your current age and tell that version of you
- 28:00you like them, you find them interesting, that you are going
- 28:06to be the very best friend to yourself possible.
- 28:11You're going to do things for no one else's reason but your own.
- 28:17To bring joy, fascination, curiosity, intrigue,
- 28:24stimulation, excitement, new things to learn, new things to
- 28:30do. And if you're now willing not
- 28:37just to be a friend, but a best friend from now until forever.
- 28:47But when you see yourself in the mirror, you pay yourself a
- 28:51compliment. When you're feeling low, you
- 28:55pick yourself up. When you're feeling sad, you
- 29:00make you smile. When you're feeling stressed,
- 29:04you calm yourself down. If you're willing to take on
- 29:08that responsibility to be a friend to yourself better than
- 29:15any friend you've ever had, then let me know by nodding your
- 29:20head. That's it.
- 29:24And so it's time to return. Back from the past, even back
- 29:30from the present. You can imagine a future where
- 29:34you're still that friend to yourself.
- 29:35On your worst days, that's when a friend is needed.
- 29:39And I want you to imagine that wonderful things are there for
- 29:46the taking. You get to live life only
- 29:51needing your own permission. So it's time to return.
- 29:56Take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your
- 30:00nose and wiggle your fingers and wiggle your toes.
- 30:05Connect and calibrate into the here and the now as I now count
- 30:12from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you.
- 30:16Starting to count 123 waking up 456 more alert 7-8.
- 30:26Open your eyes. Open your eyes 910 Wide awake,
- 30:31Wide awake. Wide awake.
