- 0:21Speaker 1: Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 0:33Speaker 3: Welcome in on this Wednesday How we do win? Everybody?
- 0:36Speaker 3: Taylor Sharp here with you on Off the Bench, filling
- 0:39Speaker 3: in for Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn here in the

- 0:51Speaker 3: We got a lot to cover. We had an LSU
- 0:53Speaker 3: men's basketball game last night, we had an LSU softball
- 0:57Speaker 3: game last night. We got baseball tonight. We got a
- 1:00Speaker 3: weekend series coming up as well. I mean, there is
- 1:02Speaker 3: a ton to get to. Three guests on today's show.
- 1:05Speaker 3: Doctor Steven Etherige actually will be in studio in his
- 1:09Speaker 3: normal eight am slot. Then LHI Beach volleyball coach Russell
- 1:13Speaker 3: Brock He's gonna hop on with us at eight fifteen.

- 1:30Speaker 3: here with the at Lane Villarrial Braxton Risuto along for
- 1:33Speaker 3: the ride as well.
- 1:34Speaker 4: Guys, how we.
- 1:35Speaker 3: Doing this morning, Alandra? First day of lent? How we
- 1:38Speaker 3: doing with no caffee?
- 1:40Speaker 5: I decided yesterday that I wasn't gonna set myself up
- 1:42Speaker 5: for failure because I knew, like, again, I'm going to
- 1:46Speaker 5: New York next week. I keep getting targeted so hard
- 1:50Speaker 5: on my algorithm for like places to check out while
- 1:52Speaker 5: I'm there, of course, and there's like all these coffee
- 1:55Speaker 5: shops that look so good. So I'm like, I'm not
- 1:57Speaker 5: gonna set myself up because I know that I'm gonna
- 2:00Speaker 5: like try until next week and then next week's gonna
- 2:03Speaker 5: come around and I'm gonna get a coffee and then
- 2:05Speaker 5: I'm gonna feel worse about myself than if I like,
- 2:08Speaker 5: you know, like, I'm gonna feel bad about myself if
- 2:11Speaker 5: I if you don't reach you caffeine and then I
- 2:14Speaker 5: drink caffeine next weekend.
- 2:15Speaker 3: You've ever seen on Dodgeball Vince Vaughan and says, uh,
- 2:19Speaker 3: if you have a goal, you might not reach it,
- 2:20Speaker 3: but if you don't have one, you're never disappointed. Right
- 2:22Speaker 3: exactly exactly. That's exactly where I'm at, Braction. You're not
- 2:26Speaker 3: you're not doing later you know.
- 2:28Speaker 4: Oh it's ash Wednesday is getting the Ashes.
- 2:32Speaker 5: So Brittany and I usually walk across the street to
- 2:35Speaker 5: Saint ag.
- 2:36Speaker 3: Oh, like right there, Yeah, it's the one. Is that
- 2:37Speaker 3: the one that's like kind of behind Sonic, Like, yeah, okay,
- 2:41Speaker 3: that's a big church.
- 2:42Speaker 5: It's bigger than like because I'd never been there before.
- 2:45Speaker 5: It's not the one I usually go to. But Brittany
- 2:47Speaker 5: and I go, like because it's right across the street,
- 2:49Speaker 5: so we'll probably go after this and just go get.
- 2:52Speaker 4: The real quick.
- 2:52Speaker 5: But yeah, it's bigger than I thought.
- 2:54Speaker 3: So that's the thing with ashes, Like it doesn't have
- 2:55Speaker 3: to be like your church. You can just kind of
- 2:57Speaker 3: go yeah whenever, Okay, it's cool.
- 3:00Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean they do like drive through.
- 3:04Speaker 4: You stick your head out the window.
- 3:05Speaker 5: I don't know if they still do it, but I've
- 3:07Speaker 5: like heard about maybe it was like a COVID thing
- 3:09Speaker 5: they started doing.
- 3:11Speaker 3: But I never did it that way, as drive through
- 3:15Speaker 3: ashes is is an interesting thought. Okay, so that brings
- 3:20Speaker 3: me right into this. My dad told me up in
- 3:24Speaker 3: Alexandria when he was growing up, they had a drive
- 3:27Speaker 3: through funeral home. Okay, and basically, like it's exactly how
- 3:31Speaker 3: you think. Yeah, an open casket. There was a window
- 3:34Speaker 3: you could drive up at. Like basically, if you wanted
- 3:36Speaker 3: to pay your respect, you couldn't make it to the
- 3:38Speaker 3: funeral or the wake or whatever. They had like a
- 3:40Speaker 3: drive through funeral home with a little casket viewing area
- 3:43Speaker 3: and you can just fig your head out the window
- 3:45Speaker 3: wave give them the piece rolling out. I mean, right,
- 3:49Speaker 3: but that's that's I'll have to I'll have to get
- 3:51Speaker 3: the name of it from him my alt text a
- 3:53Speaker 3: little bit later and see what the name is.
- 3:55Speaker 4: Yeah, he said there was a drive through funeral home.
- 3:57Speaker 4: That that's old people's stuff.
- 3:58Speaker 6: Right in COVID.
- 4:00Speaker 7: I know, my cousin graduated, uh in, and so since
- 4:06Speaker 7: Covid happened, they had a drive their graduation.
- 4:09Speaker 4: A drive through graduation. They just in diploma through the room. Everything. Well,
- 4:14Speaker 4: I saw a picture the other day, So.
- 4:18Speaker 3: So you were talking about ashes like the Catholic I
- 4:21Speaker 3: think it's the Catholic church that does the holy water
- 4:24Speaker 3: on the baby, right they to.
- 4:26Speaker 4: Get baptized, right, Yeah, remember they were doing the square guns.
- 4:29Speaker 5: Oh yeah, they had.
- 4:30Speaker 3: I saw this picture the other day. It said it said,
- 4:33Speaker 3: throwback to one of the craziest times of our life.
- 4:35Speaker 3: It's like priest has the mask on, parents have the
- 4:37Speaker 3: mask on. He literally has like a squirt gun shooting
- 4:40Speaker 3: the baby with the with the squirre gun. And that's
- 4:42Speaker 3: how they that's how they blessed them. And I'm like,
- 4:45Speaker 3: what are what are we doing?
- 4:46Speaker 5: What an insane time?
- 4:48Speaker 3: We're gonna tell our kids about that one day and
- 4:51Speaker 3: like they're not gonna believe this, but that didn't happen.
- 4:54Speaker 4: But ye know it.
- 4:55Speaker 5: I know it sounds dumb, but it did.
- 4:57Speaker 3: And when you learn about it in class, they're going
- 4:58Speaker 3: to leave out all the craziest like that's that is
- 5:01Speaker 3: something that.
- 5:03Speaker 4: Happen. Last night.
- 5:09Speaker 3: LSU basketball, Well, they played a game if any of
- 5:12Speaker 3: you are still interested, but they were in Austin taking
- 5:15Speaker 3: on the Texas Longhorns, and Texas was on a four
- 5:17Speaker 3: game winning street coming into this game. They were turning
- 5:19Speaker 3: in the right direction and the game started out well
- 5:24Speaker 3: for year LSU Tigers. I mean, they had an eleven
- 5:28Speaker 3: to seven lead early in that ball game, and then
- 5:30Speaker 3: then it was kind of back and forth. But what
- 5:33Speaker 3: always seems to happen with this team happened once again.
- 5:37Speaker 3: This team cannot make shots down low. I mean, it's
- 5:40Speaker 3: I've never seen anything like it. They shot thirty two
- 5:42Speaker 3: of sixty two, so they were fifty two percent from
- 5:44Speaker 3: the field for the game. We'll get into the second
- 5:46Speaker 3: half a little bit later, and they were good from
- 5:49Speaker 3: the line as well, sixteen to nineteen.
- 5:50Speaker 4: That's not what hurt them.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Points in the paint again, thirty eight thirty six, But
- 5:55Speaker 3: a lot of that was in the second half. They
- 5:57Speaker 3: went on a drought where I mean they were missing
- 5:59Speaker 3: shots point blank at the rim, clanking them off the
- 6:03Speaker 3: back iron, clanking them off the side of the rim,
- 6:05Speaker 3: off the backboard, and you name it. They weren't making shots,
- 6:07Speaker 3: and Texas's lead extended and extended and extended. It snowballed
- 6:11Speaker 3: on them, and Texas wound up having a fifteen point
- 6:14Speaker 3: lead going into the halftime break. Well, your LSU Tigers
- 6:19Speaker 3: stormed back. They lose this game eighty eight to eighty five.
- 6:23Speaker 3: Like you know, LSU does not play good defense. You're
- 6:25Speaker 3: gonna have to outscore teams to win games. I mean,
- 6:28Speaker 3: they scored fifty two, but they outscored Texas fifty two
- 6:31Speaker 3: to forty in that second half, and they had opportunities
- 6:34Speaker 3: down the stretch to win that game. They just couldn't
- 6:36Speaker 3: do it because once again Matt McMahon squad finds a
- 6:40Speaker 3: way to dig themselves into a big, double digit first
- 6:43Speaker 3: half deficit. I don't know why. It's like this every
- 6:48Speaker 3: single game. Most of the time they just come out cold.
- 6:51Speaker 3: Wasn't the case yesterday, man I mentioned early in that game,
- 6:54Speaker 3: LSU had an eleven to seven lead, and it was
- 6:57Speaker 3: kind of a back and forth game and Texas slow down.
- 7:00Speaker 3: They were methodical, they made their shots, and LSU looked
- 7:03Speaker 3: really hurried on the offensive end. They were forcing things
- 7:05Speaker 3: that weren't there, and they were missing shots right there
- 7:07Speaker 3: at the rim. It's kind of the same old song
- 7:09Speaker 3: and dance with this team, because, like if you look
- 7:12Speaker 3: at the box score, everything else was It was not bad.
- 7:17Speaker 3: I mean, Markel Sutton finished with twenty one points, six
- 7:21Speaker 3: of ten shooting. Max McKinnon. He didn't get the start,
- 7:25Speaker 3: but I mean he came in within the first couple
- 7:27Speaker 3: of minutes. He played thirty three minutes, so that was
- 7:29Speaker 3: a de factor started for him. Twenty seven points eleven
- 7:32Speaker 3: of seventeen shooting. You tell me you get twenty seven
- 7:35Speaker 3: from Max McKinnon, twenty one from Markel Sudden. Despite the
- 7:39Speaker 3: fact that ls who's been awful this year, I would
- 7:41Speaker 3: have said, hey, they probably had a pretty decent shot
- 7:44Speaker 3: at winning that game. But again, the double digit deficit
- 7:49Speaker 3: in the first half, it's it's every game with this team.
- 7:54Speaker 3: I mean, there was, and if it's not that, it's
- 7:56Speaker 3: another Remember the Kentucky game a few weeks back.
- 7:59Speaker 4: LSU was blowing out Katuki.
- 8:00Speaker 3: You had a sixteen point lead in the first half,
- 8:03Speaker 3: You still had a double digit lead in the second
- 8:06Speaker 3: going into halftime, and then down the stretch.
- 8:08Speaker 4: What happened.
- 8:09Speaker 3: You could not make your easy open shots. Tucky comes
- 8:12Speaker 3: all the way back and wins that game. It's basically
- 8:15Speaker 3: the same thing here. Just flip it first half to
- 8:17Speaker 3: second half. Because you did such a good job in
- 8:23Speaker 3: the second half of this ball game. Look, we'll lay
- 8:26Speaker 3: it out again. You outshot Texas from the free throw line.
- 8:28Speaker 3: Now you got to do a better job of not
- 8:31Speaker 3: fouling defensively, Texas took thirty four free throw attempts and
- 8:34Speaker 3: you took nineteen. I mean they were twenty three of
- 8:36Speaker 3: thirty four, but they made more than you attempted. That's
- 8:40Speaker 3: one of the things you look at in a basketball game.
- 8:42Speaker 3: They always say, all these experts on TV always say,
- 8:46Speaker 3: make more free throws than your opponent attempts. They did that,
- 8:50Speaker 3: and they were at home. That gave him a big
- 8:51Speaker 3: advantage because they were only sixty eight percent from the line.
- 8:54Speaker 3: But didn't Matt. But of course LSU was going to
- 8:57Speaker 3: get out rebounded. I mean, this team is soft down low.
- 9:01Speaker 3: But even the rebounding advantage wasn't that much for Texas.
- 9:05Speaker 3: Thirty four rebounds for Texas, twenty seven for l shoot.
- 9:08Speaker 3: Offensive rebounds were about even seven for the Tigers, eight
- 9:12Speaker 3: for the Longhorns. And Texas turned the ball over more
- 9:16Speaker 3: than you. You've done a good job. Last Saturday against Tennessee,
- 9:21Speaker 3: LSU turned the ball over three times, turned it over
- 9:24Speaker 3: five times last night. It's only eight times in a
- 9:27Speaker 3: two game period. That's really good for a basketball team.
- 9:30Speaker 3: That's not very good. It's just you keep digging yourself
- 9:36Speaker 3: into these first half holes. I mean, your largest lead
- 9:39Speaker 3: was four. That was early in the game. Texas's largest
- 9:41Speaker 3: lead was seventeen. That was with about four minutes to
- 9:43Speaker 3: go before the first half ended. But there were some positives,
- 9:49Speaker 3: and it's hard to find positives for a team that's
- 9:51Speaker 3: two and eleven in the SEC.
- 9:52Speaker 4: I get it.
- 9:54Speaker 3: But Jalen Reese, who I have been a little critical
- 9:57Speaker 3: love earlier in the season, it just you seemed like
- 9:59Speaker 3: you he was hesitant to shoot the ball. He wasn't
- 10:01Speaker 3: putting up a ton of points offensively. Jalen Reese has
- 10:04Speaker 3: had back to back good games and he was four
- 10:06Speaker 3: for twelve last night.
- 10:07Speaker 4: I get it.
- 10:07Speaker 3: The shooting percentage wasn't great, but he was two for
- 10:10Speaker 3: four from three. He made all four of his free throws,
- 10:12Speaker 3: hit fourteen points. You combined now with his twenty point
- 10:16Speaker 3: outing on Saturday, that is thirty four points for Jalen
- 10:19Speaker 3: ree and a total of one turnover. He turned it
- 10:22Speaker 3: over one time last night, did not turn it over
- 10:25Speaker 3: at all against the Balls on Saturday. This is a
- 10:28Speaker 3: guy that has been thrust into the starting lineup due
- 10:31Speaker 3: to injuries to DJ Thomas. Even Max McKinnon's been banged up,
- 10:35Speaker 3: and as a freshman Jalen Reees, he's really answered the
- 10:38Speaker 3: belt these last couple of weeks. Now it hasn't resulted
- 10:42Speaker 3: in wins. Those are going to be really hard to
- 10:43Speaker 3: come by for this team. But Jalen Reese has actually
- 10:47Speaker 3: stepped up in a ton of really nice job. You
- 10:49Speaker 3: knew you were gonna get scoring for Max McKinnon an
- 10:52Speaker 3: out of conference. You thought Markel Sudden was going to
- 10:55Speaker 3: be that next big gut. He had a good game
- 10:57Speaker 3: last night. But Markel Sutten's been hidden this once you
- 10:59Speaker 3: got out into SEC play. But Jalen Reese is is
- 11:03Speaker 3: really impressed. And it's the minutes he's playing too. He
- 11:06Speaker 3: played all forty minutes against Tennessee. He played thirty seven
- 11:08Speaker 3: of the forty last night. They are relying on him
- 11:11Speaker 3: a lot here in SEC play due to these injuries,
- 11:15Speaker 3: and honestly, like in a season that's lost. Look, you're
- 11:18Speaker 3: fourteen and twelve, you're two and eleven in the SEC.
- 11:21Speaker 3: You're trying to find a bright spot, hold out some
- 11:25Speaker 3: sort of hope. It might be Jalen Reeves. He's playing
- 11:28Speaker 3: pretty well right now. We'll see if he can keep
- 11:30Speaker 3: that going. I LSU does take one number twenty five
- 11:34Speaker 3: Alabama in the p MAC five pm on Saturday. Again,
- 11:37Speaker 3: another really tough game for LSU. We'll see what they
- 11:40Speaker 3: can do. All right, We'll take a quick time out
- 11:42Speaker 3: when we get back. LSU versus Nickels in the box tonight.
- 11:45Speaker 3: We're breaking it down next. You're on your TV.

- 14:20Speaker 4: Welcome back in Wednesday edition of Off the Bench.
- 14:24Speaker 3: Taylor Sharp here with the Elandra Villa Riale Braxton Risuto
- 14:28Speaker 3: here as well.
- 14:29Speaker 4: LSU versus Nichols today.
- 14:32Speaker 3: Actually one o'clock first pitch here on a Wednesday, a
- 14:35Speaker 3: little bit of an earlier time for a midweek game.
- 14:38Speaker 3: We'll get into all that, but first let's go ahead
- 14:40Speaker 3: and get the show started.
- 14:42Speaker 1: It's time to get glowing courtesy of go Flow ivy spa,
- 14:46Speaker 1: where hydration, vitamins and a summer ready glow are always
- 14:50Speaker 1: on tap. Now for starters.
- 14:56Speaker 3: Okay, you're LSU Tigers taking on the Nickels State Colonels
- 14:59Speaker 3: today alec Box Stadium, their fifth game over a six
- 15:04Speaker 3: day period. Biggest question for everyone tonight, who's going to
- 15:08Speaker 3: get the start on the mound because again, fifth game
- 15:11Speaker 3: in six days. There's a few options out there, and
- 15:14Speaker 3: it's want to put to some guys that did not
- 15:16Speaker 3: play at all over the weekend. Reagan Ricken has a
- 15:19Speaker 3: chance to start this game. Look, he was I think
- 15:22Speaker 3: the forty sixth overall player by Perfect Game as far
- 15:25Speaker 3: as the top one hundred freshman go coming into the season,
- 15:29Speaker 3: number fourth ranks high school right handed pitcher in the
- 15:31Speaker 3: state of California, thirteenth overall in the nation. This is
- 15:35Speaker 3: a guy that had a lot of hype coming into
- 15:37Speaker 3: the season, and again we haven't seen him yet on
- 15:39Speaker 3: the weekend. Reagan Ricken certainly a possibility out there for tonight.
- 15:45Speaker 3: Another one who we didn't see over the weekend, kind
- 15:50Speaker 3: of surprising. We haven't seen him yet. Maybe it's for
- 15:52Speaker 3: this moment. Zion Theopolis, he was the number one right
- 15:57Speaker 3: handed pitcher in all of Ohio last year, came in.
- 16:01Speaker 3: He participated in fall ball and he actually threw the
- 16:03Speaker 3: ball really well. According to Hunt MOUs So, anybody that
- 16:07Speaker 3: was out there at fall Baseball scrimmage said that Zion
- 16:10Speaker 3: Theopolis actually threw the ball really really well. I mean,
- 16:13Speaker 3: you look at what he did in high school He
- 16:15Speaker 3: was a twenty three and three mark as a starter
- 16:17Speaker 3: in high school, one forty e two hundred and forty
- 16:21Speaker 3: five strikeouts at just one hundred and sixty four innings.
- 16:23Speaker 3: So this is a guy that's thrown a lot in
- 16:25Speaker 3: high school. He started a lot of games, and he
- 16:27Speaker 3: had a lot of success doing it. So that's certainly
- 16:29Speaker 3: an option to start for you here on this Wednesday.
- 16:34Speaker 3: There's also Connor Binge has not pitched yet. Now, I
- 16:37Speaker 3: don't know if Connor Bingche starts this game, but didn't
- 16:41Speaker 3: see him over the weekend, and we saw him in
- 16:42Speaker 3: a lot of different spots last year. He was a
- 16:44Speaker 3: setup guy that used him in the back of the
- 16:46Speaker 3: bullpen on a lot of midweek games. We even saw
- 16:48Speaker 3: him in some weekend Actually, he played in sixteen games
- 16:51Speaker 3: a year ago. So I don't know if Binge necessarily starts,
- 16:55Speaker 3: but I do think we see Connor Binge at some point,
- 16:57Speaker 3: and I think you have to see Connor Binge because
- 17:00Speaker 3: there's a chance that he's a pretty significant part of
- 17:02Speaker 3: your rotation going forward to here in twenty twenty six.
- 17:06Speaker 3: My preference is Cooper Williams. Now, I don't need Cooper
- 17:11Speaker 3: Williams going for five six innings in this game, because
- 17:14Speaker 3: you'll probably need him on the weekend. But I just
- 17:18Speaker 3: want him to get the feel of starting here in
- 17:20Speaker 3: twenty twenty six in case that actually has to happen
- 17:22Speaker 3: on the weekends. Look, I think Caseon Evans is going
- 17:26Speaker 3: to be able to be a Friday night guy, but
- 17:27Speaker 3: there's a chance he's not. He tried this with Zachkess
- 17:30Speaker 3: after zach Hess's good freshman year, and it didn't work
- 17:33Speaker 3: out for it. Zach Hess was a lot better as
- 17:36Speaker 3: that back Indo the bullpen guy, than he was a starter.
- 17:38Speaker 3: You ultimately made that switch and your team was better
- 17:40Speaker 3: for it. Maybe that happens to case of Evans again.
- 17:43Speaker 3: We saw him a little bit starting last year and
- 17:45Speaker 3: I thought he did a fine job. I think he'll
- 17:47Speaker 3: be good there. But look, Cooper Williams was up for
- 17:50Speaker 3: a starting rotation as well. It was the four guys.
- 17:53Speaker 3: It was Evans, Cooper, Moore, Williams, Schmida, Cooper Williams. Those
- 17:56Speaker 3: are the guys you heard. And honestly, if you want
- 17:58Speaker 3: a left handed arms starting your weekend rotation, Cooper Williams
- 18:02Speaker 3: is probably that guy.
- 18:04Speaker 4: Maybe get him a start.
- 18:05Speaker 3: I mean he went two and two thirds innings over
- 18:07Speaker 3: the weekend, gave up one hit, one run, five k's,
- 18:10Speaker 3: no Waltz, so he was solid his first time out.
- 18:14Speaker 3: Is that a guy you could put him there, give
- 18:15Speaker 3: him two to three innings, be fine by Saturday if
- 18:19Speaker 3: you need him. The good news is you have so
- 18:24Speaker 3: many arms still available. I mean I just rattled off
- 18:26Speaker 3: three or four of them there. But we haven't seen
- 18:29Speaker 3: Danny Lochenmeyer yet. Now locker Meyer is not going to
- 18:31Speaker 3: start this game, but look at what he did in
- 18:33Speaker 3: relief last year at North Dakota State. I mean a
- 18:35Speaker 3: two thirty seven eer do a lot of big time
- 18:40Speaker 3: innings for the boys in a year ago. Santiago Garcia
- 18:44Speaker 3: is available. Landra mentioned him the other day. Is like
- 18:47Speaker 3: a guy that we were excited to see who maybe
- 18:49Speaker 3: didn't quite live up to the hype and opening weekend,
- 18:52Speaker 3: and he's available. He didn't throw very much over the weekend,
- 18:55Speaker 3: and it'd be nice to get him a bounce back
- 18:56Speaker 3: spot against a Nickels team that will get into doesn't
- 18:59Speaker 3: hit the ball particularly well. And hell's that Cowen. That
- 19:05Speaker 3: Cowen threw in one inning over the weekend and he
- 19:07Speaker 3: wasn't good. Now, concern levels probably not there for a
- 19:12Speaker 3: guy like Zach Cowen, because well, you know what he
- 19:14Speaker 3: can do, but get him out there, put him in
- 19:17Speaker 3: there for an inning or two, get him out build
- 19:20Speaker 3: that confidence back up a little bit.
- 19:21Speaker 4: Going into this weekend.
- 19:22Speaker 3: You'll see a number of guys the good news is
- 19:27Speaker 3: you should have success against Nichols. I don't ever want
- 19:30Speaker 3: to short change anybody, but they struggled pretty mightily against
- 19:34Speaker 3: Tennessee over the weekend. He had won sixty four as
- 19:36Speaker 3: a team, and a lot of people are gonna push
- 19:38Speaker 3: back and say, yeah, well Tennessee has one of the
- 19:40Speaker 3: best pitching staffs in the country. Yeah, LSU probably should
- 19:43Speaker 3: as well. It's kind of the quality pitching that Nichols
- 19:46Speaker 3: is going to see today. It's pretty much what you
- 19:48Speaker 3: saw over the weekend against Tennessee. In there's three games
- 19:51Speaker 3: against Tennessee ten to nothing, five to one, twelve to two.
- 19:56Speaker 3: So was it super competitive. I mean, they put up
- 19:58Speaker 3: a total of three runs in three games. Also, it'll
- 20:02Speaker 3: be their sixth game in five days as well, and
- 20:07Speaker 3: I just don't see them having the pitching depth of
- 20:10Speaker 3: a team like LSU. I mean, again, they struggled over
- 20:15Speaker 3: the weekend with their starters. There're go many runs they
- 20:18Speaker 3: gave up, Like five to one wasn't bad on Saturday,
- 20:20Speaker 3: but you gave up a ten spot on Friday.
- 20:22Speaker 4: You give up twelve over the weekend, and those.
- 20:24Speaker 3: Were supposed to be your front line, top of the
- 20:27Speaker 3: rotation guys, and you got crushed by Tennessee Again. Tennessee's
- 20:31Speaker 3: a really good team, but you're at the bottom of
- 20:34Speaker 3: your bullpen. Like I think LSU is gonna have a
- 20:36Speaker 3: lot of success here, and it's a great opportunity to
- 20:40Speaker 3: get some guys in there that one haven't pitched yet
- 20:43Speaker 3: or two struggled in opening weekend to get some confidence
- 20:45Speaker 3: back Landre, I'll come to you here real quick. Like
- 20:48Speaker 3: there's a lot of options. I mean a lot of
- 20:51Speaker 3: names were just thrown out there, but I mean it
- 20:53Speaker 3: didn't have to be somebody that goes five innings. But
- 20:56Speaker 3: who do you want to see start today?
- 20:59Speaker 5: So I agree that I would like to see Cooper
- 21:01Speaker 5: Williams only because I'm not convinced that William Schmidt has
- 21:06Speaker 5: the Sunday spot locked in. He might, but I don't know.
- 21:10Speaker 5: It depends, So I would like to see a little
- 21:12Speaker 5: more of Cooper Williams, and I would like to see
- 21:14Speaker 5: him not coming out of the pen and just starting.
- 21:17Speaker 5: But yeah, you mentioned lock in myyers that how you
- 21:21Speaker 5: say it, Yeah, Danny, And yeah, he was a reliever
- 21:24Speaker 5: last season, but you know Jay will move people around,
- 21:27Speaker 5: so he he's another option. He's somebody that I would
- 21:30Speaker 5: like to see just in general. He was at North
- 21:32Speaker 5: Dakota State. I know it's not the same type of competition,
- 21:36Speaker 5: but he did pretty well there. I think he was
- 21:38Speaker 5: number twenty one in the top one hundred transfers in
- 21:41Speaker 5: the transfer portal. So I would like to see him
- 21:44Speaker 5: in general. But I know he threw some this weekend,
- 21:48Speaker 5: not too much, but I would like to see Cooper
- 21:50Speaker 5: Williams get the start. I thought he would get it
- 21:53Speaker 5: maybe on Monday, even though he threw Yeah, I guess not.
- 21:56Speaker 5: But yeah, that's my opinion on that.
- 22:00Speaker 3: I'm with you and like for lock and Meyer start
- 22:02Speaker 3: relief whatever, we got to see him because it's another
- 22:05Speaker 3: lefty in the bullpen right like right now, you know
- 22:08Speaker 3: you have Cooper Williams as a lefty. DJ Primo has
- 22:11Speaker 3: been on the roster for a number of years, but
- 22:13Speaker 3: he's been kind of hid and miss. Yeah, and he
- 22:15Speaker 3: brought in a few transfers, but like Danny lock and Meyer,
- 22:18Speaker 3: like look as far as the transfer pictures go, Like,
- 22:20Speaker 3: I know people love Santiago Garcia and rightfully so, but
- 22:24Speaker 3: Danny lock and Meyer had a two point three seven
- 22:26Speaker 3: ERA a year ago and threw a lot of innings
- 22:28Speaker 3: for North Dakota State.
- 22:30Speaker 4: He's what six three two twenty. I mean, that's a
- 22:32Speaker 4: guy that.
- 22:34Speaker 3: As a left he coming out of the pen, he
- 22:36Speaker 3: could play high leverage moments where you played high leverage
- 22:38Speaker 3: moments a year ago.
- 22:40Speaker 5: So yeah, like a two point thirty seven ERA and
- 22:43Speaker 5: thirty eight innings. Like again, I know in the competition
- 22:45Speaker 5: at North Dakota State it's not the same, but that's
- 22:47Speaker 5: pretty good. Fifty six strike fifty six strikeouts in eighteen walks.
- 22:51Speaker 5: And I don't know, Like I guess I didn't hear
- 22:54Speaker 5: too much about Santiago Garcia. I just whenever he came out,
- 22:58Speaker 5: loved the name, I mean the game, and he didn't
- 23:02Speaker 5: look great. I know it was his first outing, but
- 23:04Speaker 5: he didn't look great on what was it, Saturday Sundays?
- 23:07Speaker 4: No Sunday Sunday.
- 23:10Speaker 5: But yeah, maybe throw him out there or see if
- 23:11Speaker 5: he can get his confidence up, you know, get some rhythm.
- 23:14Speaker 5: I know that been on the call was talking about
- 23:17Speaker 5: how sometimes it's just about getting out there and getting
- 23:19Speaker 5: reps and finding your footing.
- 23:22Speaker 3: So Sidieoger see a fun fact high school teammates which sleeping.
- 23:26Speaker 3: I mean that's you know, there's familiarity there. But yeah,
- 23:29Speaker 3: I mean Garcia transferring in. But yeah, I mean a lefty,
- 23:35Speaker 3: another lefty out of the bullpen, because it's weird to say, like,
- 23:38Speaker 3: you have a lot of options as far as left
- 23:41Speaker 3: handers out of the bullpen, but almost all of them
- 23:43Speaker 3: are question marks outside of Cooper Williams. Because again DJ
- 23:46Speaker 3: Primo has been here and you've been waiting for him
- 23:49Speaker 3: to make that next step, but he hasn't done that yet.
- 23:51Speaker 3: Like he's been hitting this he said some good outings,
- 23:53Speaker 3: he's had some bad. I mean Cooper Williams is that
- 23:56Speaker 3: one guy. Like sure Lochenmeier was good last year, you
- 23:59Speaker 3: haven't seen him in an LSU uniform. Like for Santiago
- 24:02Speaker 3: Garcia last year at Oregon, I mean he was he
- 24:06Speaker 3: had three and oh mark but a four point two
- 24:09Speaker 3: zero era A. He threw thirty innings with four saves
- 24:12Speaker 3: at forty strikeouts, only nineteen walks. I mean that that's
- 24:15Speaker 3: right up there with a Danny Lockenmeyer. So another guy
- 24:19Speaker 3: that could really make an impact for this team off
- 24:22Speaker 3: the mound. I mean, there's so many options. And again
- 24:24Speaker 3: I hate to pile onto Nickels, but he won sixty
- 24:27Speaker 3: four over the weekend. Now are your pitchers tonight?
- 24:30Speaker 5: You know he also run rule?
- 24:32Speaker 4: Does last year they did? They don't ask for a
- 24:35Speaker 4: run today?
- 24:36Speaker 5: Wait, I will Can we get a run roll from LSU?
- 24:40Speaker 5: Can LSU run roll?
- 24:41Speaker 6: Nickel?
- 24:42Speaker 4: There you go? Because last year you didn't specify us.
- 24:46Speaker 6: Did Gavin pitch Monday?
- 24:48Speaker 4: Gavin did pitch Monday?
- 24:49Speaker 1: He did?
- 24:49Speaker 3: Okay, Yeah, and so Gavin's pitch twice, so he's we're
- 24:53Speaker 3: probably not gonna see Gavin Gidry.
- 24:55Speaker 4: Here's my plus. I mean, we know what he can do.
- 24:57Speaker 4: They really just wanted to see if Gavin Guidry was
- 24:59Speaker 4: fully healthy for his injury.
- 25:00Speaker 5: And like knock on wood, I feel like, yeah, I
- 25:04Speaker 5: feel like Jay's just trying to see what he's got
- 25:06Speaker 5: right now. So I think we'll see the people that
- 25:08Speaker 5: we haven't seen yet. Absolutely, and then and then he
- 25:12Speaker 5: looks like he's in a rhythm.
- 25:13Speaker 4: Yeah, he looks great, like he didn't miss I am.
- 25:16Speaker 3: I am perfectly okay with not seeing Gavin Gidry again
- 25:18Speaker 3: until the weekend.
- 25:19Speaker 4: Like that that guy keep him right was.
- 25:22Speaker 5: The exact like the talking the like he's fresh, but
- 25:29Speaker 5: doesn't say like that year off did not affect him
- 25:32Speaker 5: at all. I mean, I'm sure it did, but like
- 25:34Speaker 5: you know what I mean, it doesn't look no right.
- 25:36Speaker 3: And it had really been closer to eighteen months because
- 25:38Speaker 3: I mean, he didn't throw all last year, but he
- 25:40Speaker 3: missed the back half of the year before that. Like Gavin,
- 25:43Speaker 3: he almost looks better than he did before the injury.
- 25:46Speaker 3: I mean, is as wild as the things that is
- 25:48Speaker 3: to say Gavin looks really good. But yeah, I mean
- 25:50Speaker 3: guys like or See you can get back out there.
- 25:53Speaker 3: I'm okay with seeing Cowvien for an inning if you
- 25:55Speaker 3: want to build his confidence back up, like going into
- 25:58Speaker 3: the weekend. But I mean as far is like, you're
- 26:01Speaker 3: not going to see Evans Schmidt, Cooper Moore and Gavin Gidriy.
- 26:04Speaker 3: I mean, those are the guys you're not going to see.
- 26:06Speaker 3: Outside of that, it's kind of fair game for whatever
- 26:08Speaker 3: Jay Johnson wants to do. And uh again, I think
- 26:11Speaker 3: they'll have a lot of success against the Nichol's lineup
- 26:13Speaker 3: that really struggled.
- 26:14Speaker 4: Over the weekend. All Right, we're going to take a
- 26:16Speaker 4: quick time out.
- 26:18Speaker 3: There is something going on around college sports right now,
- 26:21Speaker 3: college basketball in general, coaches calling out their players but
- 26:25Speaker 3: catching a lot of backlash for it. Is it okay
- 26:28Speaker 3: to call out your players? We're talking about it next,
- 26:30Speaker 3: you're on off the bench.
- 26:32Speaker 1: Off the bench?
- 26:33Speaker 6: All right?

- 27:52Speaker 6: mean he loves do sequies. You know that.
- 27:55Speaker 2: We hear on the OTV team love Dose Sechies. It
- 27:58Speaker 2: is the perfect beer for any occasion. Lake beer, beach beer,
- 28:03Speaker 2: shower beer, bath beer, you name it, beer like ballpark beer.

- 28:37Speaker 2: because dose Sekis will make you a champion. So the
- 28:40Speaker 2: next time you're watching the game, grab a dose Sekis
- 28:42Speaker 2: and remember State Thirsty my friends responsibly, of course, dose
- 28:46Speaker 2: Ski's official beer of unforgettable sports moments.
- 28:50Speaker 3: I think five champions in that uh in that Jacob
- 28:54Speaker 3: Escer Dosekis live read, I meant to count yesterday.
- 28:58Speaker 4: I think I think it's fine. I think it's what
- 28:59Speaker 4: I out here.
- 29:00Speaker 6: Uh.
- 29:00Speaker 3: I mean he said champion five times in that live
- 29:03Speaker 3: read was not paying at a lot of college basketball
- 29:10Speaker 3: coaches right now are taking a lot of heat for
- 29:13Speaker 3: calling out their players. So on Sunday, UAB lost the
- 29:18Speaker 3: game fifty five to fifty four to two lane alec UAB.
- 29:23Speaker 3: It's a close loss, so you're're thinking, okay, one point loss,
- 29:26Speaker 3: but they made just ten of twenty two layups in
- 29:29Speaker 3: their defeat, and coach Andy Kennedy he had one, I
- 29:33Speaker 3: think is a pretty funny reaction after the game. He said, guys,
- 29:38Speaker 3: we're talking about layups. These are scholarship players that are
- 29:41Speaker 3: making more money than most people in this room. Isn't
- 29:44Speaker 3: too much to ask for you to make a layup?
- 29:47Speaker 3: He said, seriously, we're in Bozo land, man. We can't
- 29:49Speaker 3: finish at the basket and that's where we really miss
- 29:52Speaker 3: some of our injured players. And he took a lot
- 29:55Speaker 3: of pushback for this, and I struggling to figure out
- 29:58Speaker 3: why he's the I'm the only one. So Kansas State
- 30:02Speaker 3: fired their head basketball coach Jerome Tang on Sunday. They
- 30:06Speaker 3: played a game on Wednesday that they lost to Cincinnati.
- 30:09Speaker 3: It was ninety one sixty two, so a blowout loss,
- 30:12Speaker 3: and Jerome Tang went up there and said that, he said,
- 30:16Speaker 3: it's ridiculous. Uh, these dudes got to have some pride.
- 30:19Speaker 3: It means something to wear the Kansas State uniform and
- 30:22Speaker 3: went on to say that this team was embarrassing. He said,
- 30:28Speaker 3: you know, play with some pride. A lot of these
- 30:29Speaker 3: guys aren't going to be here next year. And Kansas
- 30:34Speaker 3: State fired. Now, when you go look at his record,
- 30:39Speaker 3: I've seen a lot of people come out in defense
- 30:41Speaker 3: of Kansas State and say, yeah, but you know he's
- 30:44Speaker 3: fallen behind. I mean he was seventy three and fifty
- 30:46Speaker 3: seven overall at Kansas State but first year twenty six
- 30:50Speaker 3: and ten, second year nineteen and fifteen. He was just
- 30:53Speaker 3: sixteen and seventeen last year and ten and fifteen this year.
- 30:56Speaker 3: So you you can see the decline.
- 30:57Speaker 4: I get it.
- 30:58Speaker 3: It's been declining for three straight years now. Made the
- 31:02Speaker 3: tournament year one, but nothing outside of that. So I've
- 31:06Speaker 3: heard a lot of people say, yeah, well, you know,
- 31:08Speaker 3: Jerome Tang, it wasn't working out anyways. So this was
- 31:12Speaker 3: just an out for Kansas State. And I was thinking, Okay,
- 31:14Speaker 3: you know, maybe it's maybe it's just a coincidence that
- 31:19Speaker 3: they fire him right after this, butte they emi will
- 31:22Speaker 3: put out well Sunday shortly or Sunday night after Jerome
- 31:27Speaker 3: Tang had been fired. The Kansas State was firing Jerome
- 31:30Speaker 3: Tang for calls.
- 31:32Speaker 4: He said. The basis for the cause.
- 31:34Speaker 3: Firing is language in his contract that references an activity
- 31:38Speaker 3: that brings public disrepute, embarrassment, and ridicule to Kansas State.
- 31:45Speaker 3: So they essentially fire Jerome Tang for calling out his
- 31:51Speaker 3: players in a press conference, saying well, you know, most
- 31:54Speaker 3: of them are going to be here next year anyways.
- 31:55Speaker 3: I'll figure it out. You give power to the players
- 31:59Speaker 3: in the transfer portal. That's all fine. When a coach
- 32:03Speaker 3: decides that a player's not up to snuff and he
- 32:07Speaker 3: says they're not gonna be here next year, they can
- 32:09Speaker 3: enter the transfer portal.
- 32:10Speaker 4: He's ridiculed for it.
- 32:12Speaker 3: I just I've kind of an issue with that because
- 32:14Speaker 3: for the longest time, everyone had argued, well, the NCAA
- 32:19Speaker 3: and the coaches have all the power, the players have
- 32:21Speaker 3: no power. Sure, that's fine, you're not gonna hear much
- 32:24Speaker 3: of an argument from me on that. But now it
- 32:27Speaker 3: just kind of seems like the players have all the
- 32:28Speaker 3: power and nobody else can really say otherwise or they
- 32:32Speaker 3: get in trouble for it.
- 32:34Speaker 4: Don't you kind of have the same problem.
- 32:37Speaker 3: Shouldn't there be more of a checks and balance this
- 32:38Speaker 3: system going on here in college athletics? There's not A
- 32:42Speaker 3: player can enter the portal whenever they want, and you know,
- 32:46Speaker 3: a coach can leave a school whenever they want.
- 32:47Speaker 4: But when a coach gets mad about it and calls
- 32:49Speaker 4: out his team, you fire the guy for it.
- 32:52Speaker 3: Now I get that Kansas State's probably looking for a
- 32:55Speaker 3: way out because they didn't like the way the program
- 32:58Speaker 3: was going. They didn't like the direction of things. I
- 33:00Speaker 3: just mentioned that they had been declining as a basketball
- 33:02Speaker 3: team for I mean three straight years. Now you went
- 33:05Speaker 3: twenty four and ten. You hadn't gotten back to twenty
- 33:08Speaker 3: wins since then.
- 33:08Speaker 4: He's in year four.
- 33:11Speaker 3: But I don't see why these coaches are taking so
- 33:16Speaker 3: much criticism for criticizing their players. Their jobs are on
- 33:19Speaker 3: the line too, and those coaches have families. They got
- 33:23Speaker 3: to win games. If not, they're out the door. So
- 33:27Speaker 3: as a coach, if you think you've done everything you
- 33:30Speaker 3: can to get your team prepared and your players aren't
- 33:32Speaker 3: showing up, they're not doing what they're supposed to, you
- 33:35Speaker 3: gotta let everybody know, like, hey, it's not on me.
- 33:39Speaker 3: I deserve to be here. I've done my job. I
- 33:41Speaker 3: mean my players to go out and do theirs. Also,
- 33:44Speaker 3: players are paid nowadays, guys. I mean you heard Andy
- 33:47Speaker 3: Kennedy say, you have players on this team that are
- 33:50Speaker 3: making more money than most people in this room. You
- 33:54Speaker 3: want to make money, you want to be treated like
- 33:56Speaker 3: a professional. This is what apps professional coaches call out
- 34:00Speaker 3: their players all the time. They get criticism for too,
- 34:02Speaker 3: which I think is dumb. But I just I don't
- 34:06Speaker 3: really think Andy Kennedy, Jerom Tang, whoever else gets criticized
- 34:10Speaker 3: for this. I don't really think they're off base here.
- 34:13Speaker 3: You want to be treated like an adult, like a professional.
- 34:16Speaker 3: You want to make money doing this, okay, but you're
- 34:19Speaker 3: gonna be held to a higher standard. You're going to
- 34:21Speaker 3: be called out in press conferences. Your coach is going
- 34:23Speaker 3: to criticize you even more because it's essentially your job
- 34:27Speaker 3: to do this. If you're not doing good at your job,
- 34:29Speaker 3: you're gonna get called out for it. Just like that
- 34:31Speaker 3: head coaches, if you're not performing on the court, it
- 34:33Speaker 3: all falls back on him. I don't really know why
- 34:38Speaker 3: this is a discussion. I just think it's it's a
- 34:41Speaker 3: little silly. Like when you look at this, you're like, okay,
- 34:44Speaker 3: this is where college athletes have gone. And you hear
- 34:46Speaker 3: the you know, the old head say, oh well, you
- 34:49Speaker 3: know the soft generation. I mean, when you look at
- 34:51Speaker 3: something like this, yeah, yeah, it's andsure, like what Andy
- 34:58Speaker 3: Kennedy said is is fun. And you know Andy Kennedy
- 35:01Speaker 3: as of right now is still employed. But I don't know,
- 35:05Speaker 3: I mean, unless I'm completely off pace here, and again
- 35:09Speaker 3: they go back to Jerome Tang's record twenty six and ten,
- 35:12Speaker 3: nineteen and five, sixteen, and seven, ten, and fifteen, so.
- 35:16Speaker 4: They were trending in the wrong direction.
- 35:18Speaker 3: Now, he had had a winning record overall, but I mean,
- 35:21Speaker 3: you get four straight years on the decline, hasn't made
- 35:24Speaker 3: the tournaments in Jyer one. I just think it kind
- 35:29Speaker 3: of sets a bad precedent to fire the guy right
- 35:32Speaker 3: after those comments. I mean it was four days after
- 35:34Speaker 3: he made the comments Wednesday night after the game. They
- 35:36Speaker 3: fired him on Sunday, So, I mean, what are we
- 35:41Speaker 3: doing here?
- 35:42Speaker 4: Can no coach speak their mind anymore? I mean, can.
- 35:47Speaker 3: A coach has to show up? But in all this work,
- 35:51Speaker 3: take all the blame with the loss, and he can't
- 35:55Speaker 3: call out his own players. I mean, it's not like
- 35:58Speaker 3: he was yelling at at opposing player or throwing something
- 36:01Speaker 3: on the court like it's it's not that now again,
- 36:05Speaker 3: Kansas State says anything that or Pete Pete Dmile tweeted
- 36:12Speaker 3: anything that brings public disrepute, embarrassment, and ridicule to Kansas State.
- 36:18Speaker 3: I'm sure as this story moves along, you'll hear more
- 36:20Speaker 3: and more, y'a always do. It's not just gonna be
- 36:25Speaker 3: one thing that they let your own tank for. I
- 36:28Speaker 3: get that there's gonna be more under the surface.
- 36:30Speaker 1: It just.
- 36:33Speaker 3: From the outside. That's what you see right now. As
- 36:38Speaker 3: the story changes, people's opinions will change. I get that,
- 36:41Speaker 3: mind will, But I just think it's even before he
- 36:46Speaker 3: was fired, Like whether he was fired for this or not,
- 36:52Speaker 3: he took a lot of flak for for calling out
- 36:54Speaker 3: of me. National ESPN was playing and I listened to
- 36:57Speaker 3: National ESPN driving in every morning. They were to talking
- 37:00Speaker 3: about your Rome Tane calling out the team again. Andy
- 37:02Speaker 3: Kennedy called out his team. That made national news. Just
- 37:07Speaker 3: I guess if you want to fire the guy, if
- 37:09Speaker 3: he did something else wrong, fine, I'm all for that,
- 37:12Speaker 3: whether it's off the court. On the court, he did
- 37:14Speaker 3: something wrong, get him out of there. But I don't
- 37:19Speaker 3: know coach is catching flak for calling out their players
- 37:23Speaker 3: who aren't performing. I just I don't really see what
- 37:26Speaker 3: the point of that is. All Right, we're going to
- 37:28Speaker 3: take a quick time out and we get back. We're
- 37:30Speaker 3: going to wrap up our number one busy hours two
- 37:33Speaker 3: and three. So in hour two straight up eight o'clock,
- 37:36Speaker 3: Doctor Stephen Etheridge will be in for his normal weekly segment.
- 37:39Speaker 3: We'll have him in the studio. I'll let you beach
- 37:41Speaker 3: volleyball coach Russell Brock will join us. Their season officially
- 37:44Speaker 3: begins on Friday. We'll get a quick preview from him.
- 37:47Speaker 3: Then in hour number three, Devin Snow, who normally joins
- 37:50Speaker 3: us on Monday, will join us Wednesday today nine point fifteen.
- 37:56Speaker 3: We'll get his breakdown. He got a lot of Marty
- 37:58Speaker 3: girl thoughts. We'll get all that from Devin, but when
- 38:00Speaker 3: we come back, we'll wrap up outward number one. Here on,
- 38:03Speaker 3: off the bench, Off the bench.

- 39:24Speaker 9: of Marson did and say, Miss Katie, have you ever
- 39:29Speaker 9: a thovel on? Anyway?
- 39:31Speaker 1: Settling down?
- 39:32Speaker 4: Would you marry me?
- 39:34Speaker 9: Heref I ask you twice?
- 39:36Speaker 6: And making pretty.
- 39:37Speaker 1: Fees off the bench presented by Hoodental.
- 39:46Speaker 9: Stood says he away.
- 39:49Speaker 6: He everyone is.
- 39:50Speaker 9: Head and kitties please. I should have been a cowb.
- 39:58Speaker 5: I should have learned.
- 40:00Speaker 4: I don't want to cut this song off. What a banger.
- 40:04Speaker 5: I decided to honor you instead of Jake today. Okay,
- 40:07Speaker 5: it's usually R and B Wednesday. Okay, but I'm playing
- 40:10Speaker 5: some Taylor Ass songs.
- 40:12Speaker 3: This is this is a Taylor Ass song. If I've
- 40:14Speaker 3: ever heard one one hundred percent. So we had a awakening.
- 40:19Speaker 3: In the break, Alandra asked if it was a leap
- 40:22Speaker 3: year this year.
- 40:23Speaker 4: We were informed that it was not. No, why do
- 40:25Speaker 4: we have leap years?
- 40:26Speaker 5: I don't know, but I think your theory if we
- 40:28Speaker 5: just take one of the days off of thirty one?
- 40:30Speaker 3: Well, because you got like so like, there's there's some
- 40:34Speaker 3: months that have thirty days, some months that have thirty one.
- 40:36Speaker 5: That's Matt's best friend.
- 40:37Speaker 4: In a normal year, February has twenty eight days.
- 40:41Speaker 3: Right, you just pluck two of the thirty one months,
- 40:43Speaker 3: stick them right there in February. We got thirty months
- 40:46Speaker 3: in February. Keep it wrong.
- 40:48Speaker 4: And I don't really understand that. That's stupid. I don't
- 40:51Speaker 4: like it.
- 40:53Speaker 3: Oh, I do have an update on the drive through
- 40:55Speaker 3: funeral home. Yeah, by the way, my text for my
- 40:59Speaker 3: dad there was a I've through funeral home in Alexandria.
- 41:02Speaker 3: It was a converted bank so they would stand the
- 41:06Speaker 3: casket up okay, facing the drive through window and people
- 41:12Speaker 3: could go by and pay your respects without ever having
- 41:15Speaker 3: to get out of the car. So drive through funeral
- 41:17Speaker 3: home in Alexandria that I had that ride that was
- 41:20Speaker 3: an actual thing.
- 41:20Speaker 5: So I that's crazy, by the way. But I'm asking
- 41:24Speaker 5: Matt's friend about the leap year, right, and I said,
- 41:28Speaker 5: why can't you just take one out of the months
- 41:31Speaker 5: that have thirty one days?
- 41:32Speaker 4: You can't. They're gonna say you can't.
- 41:34Speaker 5: You can't, said, honestly, we could. There's nothing about physics
- 41:37Speaker 5: or astronomy that requires February to be weird. Also, it's
- 41:42Speaker 5: just history, history locked it in. I'm not out to Caesar.
- 41:46Speaker 5: I'm not part of the Julian calendar.
- 41:47Speaker 6: Oh that it is.
- 41:49Speaker 4: I'm not a math whiz here.
- 41:52Speaker 3: But if every four years you got an extra day
- 41:55Speaker 3: in February and that three hundred and sixty six days, Yeah,
- 41:59Speaker 3: and we have three hundred six five days a year,
- 42:00Speaker 3: you're not taking one away from another.
- 42:02Speaker 5: So it's because the Earth orbit. Wait, hold on, I
- 42:08Speaker 5: can't do this in real time. But there's a reason
- 42:11Speaker 5: why it's every four years. It's because of the way
- 42:14Speaker 5: that the Earth orbits and like, we would still have yeah,
- 42:16Speaker 5: we would still have three hundred and sixty five days,
- 42:19Speaker 5: it wouldn't be three hundred and sixty six.
- 42:21Speaker 3: This seems way dude, Like, who came up with this
- 42:24Speaker 3: seems dumb. Let's just have February like all the other
- 42:27Speaker 3: months and move on.
- 42:28Speaker 6: It's stupid.
- 42:30Speaker 4: I think, though, like this could be completely wrong.
- 42:34Speaker 5: This is pretty sure talking about though. When I was
- 42:36Speaker 5: talking about Ben and Lynn and I was like, is
- 42:38Speaker 5: this some people feel listening to otbs because.
- 42:41Speaker 7: We do this well?
- 42:42Speaker 3: When you brought up the question here in the break,
- 42:43Speaker 3: I'm like, I don't know anything about leap years. No,
- 42:46Speaker 3: as a matter of fact, I know I know less
- 42:48Speaker 3: than nothing about leap years. But I mean you, uh, like,
- 42:52Speaker 3: if you're born on February twenty ninth on a leap year, yeah,
- 42:56Speaker 3: I'm pretty sure you're twenty four.
- 42:59Speaker 4: Have a birthday? Pretty right? You're only four when you're actually.
- 43:01Speaker 5: Like yeah, Like on Modern Family, Cam's birthday was on
- 43:06Speaker 5: a leap year, and so he would always like his
- 43:08Speaker 5: p one name for you is his fortieth birthday. He's like,
- 43:11Speaker 5: I'm turning ten years old. He had like this ten
- 43:13Speaker 5: year old birthday party.
- 43:14Speaker 4: That's actually hilarious.
- 43:17Speaker 3: I think like, if you're twenty one eighteen, that type
- 43:20Speaker 3: of thing, I think you are supposed to celebrate at
- 43:23Speaker 3: March first, Okay, I think I would do the twenty eighth.
- 43:26Speaker 6: I don't think it would matter. I would have twenty
- 43:28Speaker 6: eight too, just a February.
- 43:29Speaker 3: But I think I think it's if they it total
- 43:32Speaker 3: number that I think it's March first. I'm not one
- 43:34Speaker 3: hundred percent on that.
- 43:35Speaker 6: But see, we.
- 43:36Speaker 3: Shouldn't have to have this discussion because February should only
- 43:39Speaker 3: have I mean, February should be thirty days like like
- 43:41Speaker 3: everybody else. What is in March, March is thirty one,
- 43:44Speaker 3: July thirty one. Pull them, pull those days, slot them
- 43:47Speaker 3: into February. Boom, be done with it.
- 43:51Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 43:52Speaker 3: The the drive through funeral home made me think of
- 43:58Speaker 3: some of the other stuff that we did during COVID,
- 44:02Speaker 3: because that had COVID to me written all over it.
- 44:04Speaker 3: We talked about the UH baptized and the babies with
- 44:07Speaker 3: the square guns. Do you all remember when they came
- 44:10Speaker 3: out and said, well, you can't have Thanksgiving like you
- 44:13Speaker 3: can do it, but we just want all your family
- 44:14Speaker 3: members over zoom. I can, I'll call in over zoom.
- 44:17Speaker 3: And then the dots at the grocery store I had
- 44:19Speaker 3: just looked at. I remember the dots at the grocery
- 44:22Speaker 3: store and like me, I didn't mean anything by it.
- 44:26Speaker 3: I wasn't trying to be malicious, like I had the
- 44:28Speaker 3: mask one because I had too to go into the store.
- 44:31Speaker 3: I vividly remember this. I was at Walmart, and walker
- 44:35Speaker 3: I uh stared at the checkout line. I don't even
- 44:37Speaker 3: know what I'm picking up, like a few things. I'm
- 44:39Speaker 3: just standing there, mind of my business. The older gentleman
- 44:42Speaker 3: in front of me turned around and goes, sir, sir,
- 44:44Speaker 3: I need you to back up, please, And I was
- 44:46Speaker 3: like what, and like I wasn't right up on the
- 44:49Speaker 3: guy and he goes, your dot.
- 44:50Speaker 4: You have to be on your dot. You're not on
- 44:52Speaker 4: your dot. So I literally took like two steps back
- 44:55Speaker 4: and stood.
- 44:55Speaker 5: On my dogs, like when we used to like go
- 44:57Speaker 5: into the restaurant with the masks on and then you
- 44:59Speaker 5: say down and take your mask, but you had to.
- 45:01Speaker 4: You had to put it back on, like stand up, immediately,
- 45:04Speaker 4: put it on and leave.
- 45:06Speaker 7: I got a funny one. I think it was my
- 45:08Speaker 7: cousin's birthday. His birthday is in April, and we obviously
- 45:11Speaker 7: couldn't have a birthday party, so.
- 45:13Speaker 5: We sounds like when it was just happening right.
- 45:15Speaker 3: It was like my sister got married March fourteenth, and
- 45:19Speaker 3: that was like one of the last weddings they had
- 45:21Speaker 3: in twenty twenty.
- 45:22Speaker 7: But basically we, I guess lapped around like his house
- 45:28Speaker 7: in the neighborhood and like drove by and told him
- 45:30Speaker 7: happy birthday.
- 45:31Speaker 5: Oh yeah, the like when people were doing like the
- 45:33Speaker 5: drive by, the drive by happy birthdays or the drive
- 45:37Speaker 5: by graduations, like you.
- 45:38Speaker 3: Were saying, anyways, thank goodness for past that. Hopefully that
- 45:42Speaker 3: doesn't happen again. Pretty fun hour one there. We uh,
- 45:47Speaker 3: we got a little semi education on a on a
- 45:52Speaker 3: leap year. I'm sure Landra like she dove into it,
- 45:54Speaker 3: but it's a I like, it's it's it's Matt Flent's buddy.
- 45:56Speaker 3: We're not sure how accurate that even is. Coming up
- 45:59Speaker 3: an hour number two, Doctor Stephen Ethridge in the studio
- 46:02Speaker 3: for his normal Wednesday spot, LSU beach volleyball coach Russell
- 46:05Speaker 3: Brock at eight fifteen. Then in the nine o'clock hour,
- 46:07Speaker 3: we'll talk to LSU football, We'll talk some Saints. Devin

- 46:21Speaker 3: I'm an hour two and three coming up. Stay tuned.
- 46:24Speaker 3: Top of hour number two. We got doctor Etherg in
