- 0:01Speaker 1: With Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Okay, here we go.
- 0:04Speaker 1: Where the plays get broken down and science gets denied.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Dude, they said I gotta come off the bench.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Hour two of Off the Bench, live from the Raising
- 0:12Speaker 1: Cane Studio.
- 0:36Speaker 2: All right, welcome back in OTB.
- 0:40Speaker 3: Hour number two. Here live from the Razor King studio.
- 0:42Speaker 3: Jake Flynn, Alondra Tate all here with you. The Wolfpack
- 0:45Speaker 3: is back.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Can I get a.
- 0:48Speaker 4: Can I get a.
- 0:49Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Thank you. A little hour two. You know, football season.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Just to make sure you're awake in the car. Heading
- 0:57Speaker 2: to work. You should probably already be at school or
- 0:59Speaker 2: you're in a tardy.
- 0:59Speaker 5: And if you're in your car or your office and
- 1:02Speaker 5: you didn't just how, you're not a real one.
- 1:04Speaker 3: It's true.
- 1:07Speaker 2: I'll be embarrassed. I'm going to imagine that they did.
- 1:10Speaker 6: I hope when people hear this song, they think of OTV.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Yeah. So what if Martha and accounting look at you funny?
- 1:17Speaker 6: Who cares?
- 1:18Speaker 2: Who cares? Who cares what Martha thinks?
- 1:19Speaker 3: Who cares if Jim and Sales kind of gave you
- 1:22Speaker 3: the stank eye? Jim and Sales isn't as cool as you.
- 1:25Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Bunch of nerds. Bunch of mouth breathers. Yeah. That's what
- 1:31Speaker 2: we like to call them. Let's be a real one.
- 1:38Speaker 2: More mouth breathers. Gym in cells or SEC media days?
- 1:43Speaker 2: None of the above. Carson Beck. That's true. He only
- 1:49Speaker 2: breathes out of his mouth. I don't think he has
- 1:51Speaker 2: the ability to do anything different. No. Oxygen has never
- 1:53Speaker 2: touched those nostrils. That's fair. Hey, Tay-Tay.
- 1:59Speaker 3: You put in a New Orleans Saints right here at
- 2:02Speaker 3: the top, 8 o'clock, Saints training camp, day number 16.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Got a.
- 2:08Speaker 3: Little kicking battle going on. Daniel Carlson was signed the
- 2:12Speaker 3: other day. Now, I think he has every opportunity to
- 2:15Speaker 3: go win that job because, well, the Saints kicking situation
- 2:19Speaker 3: has not been great. It has been actually quite poor.
- 2:23Speaker 3: This is somebody that's done it for a long time,
- 2:25Speaker 3: had a lot of success. He's a two-time All-Pro player.
- 2:29Speaker 3: So we know he has that ability to win the job.
- 2:35Speaker 2: I think he does.
- 2:36Speaker 8: Cause I think that's why you brought him in, but
- 2:38Speaker 8: I'll say the report that Ross put up on Louisiana sports.net.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Go check it out.
- 2:42Speaker 8: It's super detailed, but he mentions Tanner Brown was a
- 2:46Speaker 8: perfect eight free yesterday. Charlie Smith was seven of eight
- 2:49Speaker 8: and Daniel Carlson was seven of eight. So like while
- 2:52Speaker 8: there's a kicking battle, all three of them actually performed
- 2:55Speaker 8: well yesterday, but if you were comfortable with Tanner Brown
- 2:58Speaker 8: or Charlie Smith, you don't bring in Daniel Carlson two
- 3:01Speaker 8: weeks before the season starts anyway. So yeah, I mean,
- 3:04Speaker 8: I think he's in the driver's seat there. We talked
- 3:06Speaker 8: about it on Monday. You went out there at the
- 3:09Speaker 8: end of the game to try to get points on
- 3:10Speaker 8: the board and Tanner Brown missed a what? 35 yard
- 3:14Speaker 8: field goal, 38 yard field goal, whatever it was like,
- 3:16Speaker 8: that's one you got to hit. They wanted to see
- 3:18Speaker 8: what Tanner Brown would look like at an end of
- 3:20Speaker 8: game situation. And yeah, He didn't answer the call, and
- 3:24Speaker 8: that's why you bring in a guy like Daniel Carlson.
- 3:26Speaker 8: It's concerning to me that you still don't have, whoever
- 3:29Speaker 8: your kicker is, that you don't have this figured out
- 3:31Speaker 8: two weeks before the first game. Honestly, outside of cornerback,
- 3:36Speaker 8: this is my biggest concern for the Saints.
- 3:40Speaker 3: So I'll say this about kicker battles, and Matt, you
- 3:42Speaker 3: were a holder, so you could probably give even better
- 3:44Speaker 3: insight than I could. I was the backup to the
- 3:48Speaker 3: holder sitting across from me. I don't care about practice
- 3:53Speaker 3: stats with kickers at all.
- 3:55Speaker 7: Nope.
- 3:56Speaker 3: They're all head cases. It's very easy to make a
- 3:58Speaker 3: kick in practice. A lot of times they're not even
- 4:02Speaker 3: rushing against you. The defense just stands up. That's not real.
- 4:07Speaker 3: Like for a kicker, and they are all head cases,
- 4:10Speaker 3: it's like what do you do when there's live bullets?
- 4:13Speaker 3: And this isn't even bullets that count. This is preseason,
- 4:18Speaker 3: and it feels like the moment's too big for So
- 4:21Speaker 3: you bring in Daniel Carlson, two-time All-Pro, kicking the SEC,
- 4:26Speaker 3: kicking the NFL for a long time. To me, you
- 4:31Speaker 3: have to judge what they did in the preseason in
- 4:35Speaker 3: the games. It's the one position that I think the
- 4:37Speaker 3: games matter much more than a practice and training.
- 4:41Speaker 2: But you know what?
- 4:43Speaker 5: To give a counterpoint to that, it's almost why you
- 4:47Speaker 5: bring three in. you bring somebody else in to compete
- 4:50Speaker 5: against them because you're trying to simulate the pressure of
- 4:54Speaker 5: a game every day in practice. Cause you have to
- 4:56Speaker 5: make a decision because your first games in a week
- 4:59Speaker 5: and a half. So how do you do that? Well,
- 5:02Speaker 5: you make everybody think they're going to lose their job.
- 5:04Speaker 5: If you miss a kick in practice because they have three,
- 5:06Speaker 5: they're now kicking. So every kick is that much more significant.
- 5:11Speaker 5: You get less of them in practice. You only get
- 5:13Speaker 5: so many in a, in a game, right? So like
- 5:16Speaker 5: if you miss one in a game, In a competition,
- 5:19Speaker 5: it's not good. And just like you said, the normal
- 5:25Speaker 5: thought process is, yeah, what you do in practice is good,
- 5:29Speaker 5: but for a kicker, it's what you do in the game.
- 5:33Speaker 5: And it's kind of opposite thinking that we think in
- 5:35Speaker 5: preseason for other positions, right? We think what you do
- 5:38Speaker 5: in practice stands above what you do in the game.
- 5:42Speaker 5: But for a kicker, it's kind of opposite. But you
- 5:44Speaker 5: bring in another one to make three which puts pressure
- 5:47Speaker 5: on everybody. Kickers are head cases, all of them, every
- 5:51Speaker 5: single one. There's a couple of absolute dogs out there mentally,
- 5:56Speaker 5: and you know them because they're some of the best
- 5:58Speaker 5: of all time to do it at the kicker position.
- 6:00Speaker 2: They don't care. They thrive in that competition. They thrive
- 6:02Speaker 2: under the pressure.
- 6:03Speaker 5: A lot of them are head cases, and that's why
- 6:05Speaker 5: it's kind of like golf when you get the yips
- 6:07Speaker 5: putting or chipping or whatever it is.
- 6:11Speaker 2: It's hard for kickers to get out of.
- 6:12Speaker 5: It, once the mechanics are off or once they miss
- 6:16Speaker 5: a couple because you start thinking about it.
- 6:17Speaker 2: You start thinking about the kick. You start trying not
- 6:20Speaker 2: to miss it instead of trying to make it. Right.
- 6:24Speaker 2: That's the complete opposite thing.
- 6:27Speaker 5: It's like a quarterback saying, don't throw an interception, don't
- 6:30Speaker 5: throw an interception, instead of trying to say, hey, I'm
- 6:32Speaker 5: going to go complete every pass out there. I'm going
- 6:34Speaker 5: to drive the ball down the field. I'm going to
- 6:36Speaker 5: throw a touchdown. If you start thinking don't throw an interception,
- 6:38Speaker 5: then you're done. So they're creating, they're simulating– game-type pressure
- 6:44Speaker 5: in practice by bringing three kickers in.
- 6:46Speaker 2: Because if you.
- 6:47Speaker 5: Miss one, all right, well, you're done. If you have
- 6:49Speaker 5: a bad day, all right, we're going to cut you.
- 6:51Speaker 5: We'll still have two on the roster we'll have to
- 6:53Speaker 5: make a decision for. So I think I like the
- 6:56Speaker 5: move of bringing them in. And look, the Saints are
- 6:59Speaker 5: not good enough to not have a weapon at kicker.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Right.
- 7:02Speaker 5: If you want to get to eight, nine, ten wins, potentially,
- 7:06Speaker 5: if you want a chance to win a weak division
- 7:09Speaker 5: and host a playoff game this year, You have to
- 7:12Speaker 5: have a weapon, a kicker. And unfortunately, it doesn't feel
- 7:16Speaker 5: right now as if you do. Now, the highest ceiling,
- 7:19Speaker 5: I would say, is Carlson. That's why you bring him in.
- 7:21Speaker 5: He has shown that he can be a weapon. Just
- 7:23Speaker 5: been a little inconsistent in the past. But like when
- 7:25Speaker 5: you look around the league. I think you got five
- 7:27Speaker 5: or six in the preseason so far. You got five
- 7:30Speaker 5: or six kicks made over 55 yards. Hell, you got
- 7:32Speaker 5: a 69-yarder that was made.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Yeah, 61, I know, from the Panthers.
- 7:36Speaker 5: You got a guy in a competition for the Saints
- 7:38Speaker 5: missing a, what, a 36, 39-yard field goal, and you
- 7:40Speaker 5: got someone hitting a 69-yarder. You need a weapon there
- 7:44Speaker 5: if you want to steal a couple of games, which
- 7:46Speaker 5: you have the talent for the Saints to steal some games,
- 7:49Speaker 5: but you're not going to do it unless you got
- 7:52Speaker 5: a weapon.
- 7:53Speaker 3: And I agree with you, and it's a good point
- 7:54Speaker 3: that the division is– I think going to be so
- 7:58Speaker 3: closely contested.
- 7:59Speaker 2: I mean, three teams have the same record last year.
- 8:02Speaker 3: And I think it is going to be a situation
- 8:04Speaker 3: where you have, I would say, five one-score games that
- 8:09Speaker 3: are going to come down to a kick. Like, it
- 8:10Speaker 3: feels like that three of them might be within the division,
- 8:12Speaker 3: which could decide your playoff fate.
- 8:15Speaker 2: So every team needs one for sure.
- 8:18Speaker 3: But there's some teams that can go out there, and
- 8:20Speaker 3: they don't have to have a guy that can make
- 8:22Speaker 3: it from 60, 62. But with the Saints feeling good,
- 8:26Speaker 3: They're going to have multiple close games, certainly at the
- 8:29Speaker 3: end of the year, where they have four of their
- 8:31Speaker 3: last five games in the division.
- 8:33Speaker 2: Think about that.
- 8:34Speaker 3: Think how wild that is in the scheduling that it's
- 8:37Speaker 3: going to come down to the last five weeks of
- 8:39Speaker 3: the season. Now, it might not be any of the
- 8:41Speaker 3: three on this roster right now that's finishing the season,
- 8:45Speaker 3: but what you have in front of you, I'm going
- 8:49Speaker 3: to roll out. If I had to go get a guy,
- 8:51Speaker 3: I don't feel great about my guys. I'm going to
- 8:52Speaker 3: roll out the guy that's at least been two-time All-Pro
- 8:55Speaker 3: in the NFL. It's your best ceiling. I think he's
- 8:59Speaker 3: got the highest ceiling, and he's got the most range.
- 9:03Speaker 3: I would be shocked if it's not Daniel Cole.
- 9:05Speaker 5: Range is kind of like the last 20 years of
- 9:10Speaker 5: professional golf. Tiger Woods started it. To be able to compete,
- 9:14Speaker 5: you have to be able to hit the ball far.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:16Speaker 5: You've got to be able to nuke the ball off
- 9:18Speaker 5: the drive. Very few people can not do that and
- 9:21Speaker 5: compete consistently.
- 9:23Speaker 2: It's like Ricky Bobby. You've got to go fast.
- 9:24Speaker 5: You've got to go fast. Now, it's to that age
- 9:27Speaker 5: where these kickers are completely changing defensive philosophy.
- 9:33Speaker 2: No doubt.
- 9:34Speaker 5: Offensive philosophy, offensive clock management, two-minute situations, scenarios.
- 9:38Speaker 2: How aggressive you are.
- 9:40Speaker 5: How aggressive you are because they're able to convert from
- 9:42Speaker 5: midfield and do it at a pretty high clip.
- 9:45Speaker 2: It's unbelievable.
- 9:46Speaker 5: I mean, you've got the kicker for the Packers that
- 9:49Speaker 5: has made multiple 50-yarders in preseason. You've got a 58-yarder.
- 9:52Speaker 5: You've got multiple 55-yarders made in the preseason. 55-plus yards.
- 9:56Speaker 5: Just think about that 10 years ago.
- 9:58Speaker 3: $ 55.
- 10:00Speaker 5: Okay, that's a what? We got a 30, 40% chance
- 10:03Speaker 5: of making it?
- 10:04Speaker 2: That was like only Janikowski can make that.
- 10:06Speaker 5: And it was like, it was going there and everybody's
- 10:08Speaker 5: holding their breath and it just like grazes the crossbar
- 10:11Speaker 5: as it goes up.
- 10:12Speaker 3: And you used to put a returner back there on
- 10:13Speaker 3: like a 55 yard attempt.
- 10:15Speaker 2: Yeah. Because you would have the ability to return. 60
- 10:17Speaker 2: yarders and it's still hitting the middle of the net.
- 10:22Speaker 3: So if you have somebody, which the Saints do have
- 10:25Speaker 3: someone that has had that in his past in camp,
- 10:28Speaker 3: I would be shocked if it's not Carlson over Charlie
- 10:32Speaker 3: Smith and Tanner Brown.
- 10:34Speaker 2: So we'll see.
- 10:35Speaker 3: Normally we would not spend 10 minutes on a kicker,
- 10:37Speaker 3: but to Matt's point, and I agree, they're going to
- 10:39Speaker 3: have so many close games, the division is going to
- 10:42Speaker 3: be down to the wire.
- 10:44Speaker 2: Kicker could be the difference in like three wins for
- 10:47Speaker 2: the New Orleans. Still, kickers aren't real football players. Who's
- 10:53Speaker 2: more of a real football player, a kicker, a deep snapper,
- 10:57Speaker 2: or a punter? You got to pick one. Hmm. I'm, hmm, punter.
- 11:12Speaker 2: I'm going to agree. I'm going to try to think
- 11:14Speaker 2: of why. But, hmm. I'll say the punter because more
- 11:18Speaker 2: of a. Because you can pin him. Like, the punter
- 11:21Speaker 2: also has to hold. Hunter has to hold. So you
- 11:24Speaker 2: play a lot of stress.
- 11:28Speaker 5: You can pin them deep and you see a lot
- 11:30Speaker 5: more chest pounding from the punters.
- 11:34Speaker 2: They'll go kickers. They just kind of like jump up
- 11:36Speaker 2: and hurrah.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Hurrah.
- 11:40Speaker 2: We've made it. I'm never going to not think of that.
- 11:43Speaker 5: Three points. Like I got it. I feel like most
- 11:48Speaker 5: kickers at the end of the game. If the team's
- 11:50Speaker 5: down by one down by two, And it's a two-minute drive.
- 11:55Speaker 5: I have to think that most kickers are praying that
- 11:59Speaker 5: the quarterback does a touchdown or an interception. Because they
- 12:03Speaker 5: don't want that smoke. Like I said, there's a few
- 12:07Speaker 5: of them out there that want it. But I got
- 12:10Speaker 5: a feeling a lot of them don't want it. I
- 12:13Speaker 5: think that punter is like, I'm going to go pin
- 12:16Speaker 5: these guys inside the five.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Then I'm going to chest punt. Hit my chest. Give
- 12:22Speaker 2: me the most nerve-wracking thing you can do on a
- 12:24Speaker 2: football field. I got two. I got, it's a specialist.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Say it's either kicking a field goal or deep snapping.
- 12:34Speaker 3: I think that the things that give me sweaty palms,
- 12:39Speaker 3: catching a punt. like in a real game with 11
- 12:43Speaker 3: guys with bad intentions coming right at you.
- 12:45Speaker 6: And everybody's staring at you.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:47Speaker 6: Because you're the one that's catching it.
- 12:48Speaker 2: And the ball's in the air forever.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Yes.
- 12:49Speaker 2: And these punters are incredibly talented.
- 12:51Speaker 3: The spin and how it, once it starts to come down,
- 12:55Speaker 3: it just, it goes 17 different ways.
- 12:58Speaker 2: And then being a holder. People take that just as
- 13:03Speaker 2: a matter of fact. It's not that.
- 13:07Speaker 3: Like you, you're, You're catching it. You've got to put
- 13:10Speaker 3: it down. You've got to turn it. You've got to
- 13:11Speaker 3: move your fingers. You've got to make sure it's on
- 13:13Speaker 3: the kicker's spot. You've got to have the lean that
- 13:15Speaker 3: he wants to. Our pecking order of holders in San
- 13:19Speaker 3: Diego went Mike Cyphers, our punter, Eric Weddle, then me.
- 13:23Speaker 3: Cyphers got hurt, so our kicker was punting. And Weddle
- 13:28Speaker 3: was holding. And Weddle kind of like got up real
- 13:31Speaker 3: slow after playing safety. It almost looked like he had
- 13:33Speaker 3: a concussion. I'm like, I'm like Mick, get up, you
- 13:37Speaker 3: son of a. You know, like he was talking to Rocky.
- 13:40Speaker 3: Because I was like, I can't do that in an
- 13:44Speaker 3: NFL game. I've done it in practice. This is a
- 13:48Speaker 3: close game, and I'm not trying to be the reason
- 13:50Speaker 3: that we lose this game. And I don't get nervous
- 13:52Speaker 3: on a football field. That right there, I was Mick
- 13:56Speaker 3: yelling at Rock. You also got to hold when it's cold.
- 14:01Speaker 2: That's a rhyme.
- 14:01Speaker 5: You got to hold when it's cold. So I held
- 14:04Speaker 5: for one year in Green Bay, and Mason Crosby didn't
- 14:07Speaker 5: have his best year.
- 14:10Speaker 2: I took a lot of the blame. Oh, no. I
- 14:12Speaker 2: was ready for it. I was ready for it. Absolutely,
- 14:15Speaker 2: I did. I did have one bet. My only bad
- 14:17Speaker 2: hole in.
- 14:17Speaker 5: My career was in Green Bay. How bad was it, though?
- 14:22Speaker 5: It wasn't great. It was like I kind of, like,
- 14:26Speaker 5: was fumbling around with the ball. Like, I got it pinned,
- 14:28Speaker 5: and then it, like, came off my finger, and I
- 14:31Speaker 5: had to, like, kind of like catch it as it
- 14:33Speaker 5: was falling, and he was already coming.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Addressing the ball. He missed it.
- 14:37Speaker 5: And guess what? Do I look like Brendan Sorsby? Do
- 14:42Speaker 5: I look like him? Guess what I said? Because no
- 14:45Speaker 5: one saw it because you could barely see it.
- 14:47Speaker 2: Yeah. I said, cameras, come here. Press conference time. Me, you.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Let's go. Hey, that one's on me. What, Mason?
- 14:55Speaker 6: Cameras, come here.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Cameras, over here. Was that your rookie? Placeholder. Placeholder. Was
- 15:00Speaker 2: that your rookie year? No, that was like my second
- 15:02Speaker 2: or third year.
- 15:02Speaker 8: But that's the thing, though, right? Like, even if it's
- 15:04Speaker 8: not your fault, Crosby's a really good kicker. He's established.
- 15:07Speaker 8: You're going to eat that one regardless.
- 15:09Speaker 2: Yeah. That's on you regardless. It was on me. It
- 15:12Speaker 2: was on me. Now I got to look up. I
- 15:19Speaker 2: got benched. I hate that.
- 15:21Speaker 5: I don't know if I got benched after that one, though.
- 15:23Speaker 5: It was because he was having a bad.
- 15:25Speaker 2: I mean, I really do need to know what year
- 15:28Speaker 2: it was. It might have been 09 or it was
- 15:30Speaker 2: probably 09. 2007, he was 79.5%. 2008, he was 79.4%. 2009,
- 15:31Speaker 2: he was 75%. And then he went to 85.7% just
- 15:32Speaker 2: two years later in 2011. 2010, he was 78.6%.
- 15:33Speaker 3: Now in 2012, he was 63.6%. Then he went back
- 15:34Speaker 3: up to 89%. So if it was 09, it was 75%,
- 15:35Speaker 3: but it wasn't his worst year. It was the second
- 15:59Speaker 3: worst year in like a 20-year. It wasn't a great
- 16:02Speaker 3: year for him. He's like, I think, the all-time leading
- 16:04Speaker 3: scorer in Green Bay Packer history.
- 16:05Speaker 2: How did they tell you that you were fired, though?
- 16:09Speaker 5: Well, so it was Mason wanted the punter to be
- 16:13Speaker 5: the holder. Because at that time, we didn't have like
- 16:16Speaker 5: an established punter. So he kept like bringing guys in.
- 16:19Speaker 5: And so I held. But at that time, we started
- 16:21Speaker 5: getting an established punter. And so he would only get
- 16:26Speaker 5: eight kicks a day with me. yeah instead of a
- 16:30Speaker 5: hundred with like because i was you know doing real
- 16:33Speaker 5: football things yeah i'll give you.
- 16:36Speaker 8: Credit though you might you must have been a hell
- 16:37Speaker 8: of a holder you're the only college starting quarterback i
- 16:40Speaker 8: remember that also held oh i don't ever remember.
- 16:43Speaker 5: That gunner stockton holds does he they try so i'd
- 16:46Speaker 5: held my first for three years and then when i
- 16:49Speaker 5: was a senior we went out i think in spring
- 16:52Speaker 5: ball and um.
- 16:54Speaker 2: For field goal, first field goal period.
- 16:56Speaker 5: And I don't remember who was, whatever it was, like
- 16:59Speaker 5: the punter or who it was going into our senior year.
- 17:02Speaker 2: I do. And I remember I was watching it. Brady.
- 17:06Speaker 2: That's right. Yes. Punter. Brady Dalfree. Brady Dalfree. Almost said Delphine,
- 17:13Speaker 2: but that's not Delphine. It's cornbread muff. And then I
- 17:18Speaker 2: was like, hmm.
- 17:19Speaker 5: I was like, I don't know what it's supposed to
- 17:20Speaker 5: look like. I know it's supposed to be the starting quarterback,
- 17:22Speaker 5: but that hole ain't it. I'm not working all this.
- 17:25Speaker 5: I'm not working that hard to get the ball in
- 17:26Speaker 5: the end zone and miss an excess point. So I
- 17:28Speaker 5: told Bradley Dale Pivoteau that I'd do the hole. He said,
- 17:32Speaker 5: all right, brother.
- 17:33Speaker 2: I'll bring the beers. I'll bring the beers. I'll bring
- 17:35Speaker 2: the beers. All right, 17 minutes on kickers. Find that

- 19:08Speaker 1: the Bench.
- 19:09Speaker 7: If I'm happy in your hands, I'm unusually hard to
- 19:16Speaker 7: hold on to.
- 19:28Speaker 2: All right, welcome back in. OTB here live from the

- 20:10Speaker 6: That was a motorcycle.
- 20:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:12Speaker 6: They got motorcycles that buy you automotive?
- 20:15Speaker 2: Maybe. Flynn just told people they did.
- 20:16Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 20:18Speaker 2: Maybe somebody traded one in. Maybe. Wanda was like, Wanda
- 20:20Speaker 2: saw it and she's like, that ain't it. Whatever that is.
- 20:23Speaker 2: I think she like shook her head in disappointment. You
- 20:25Speaker 2: miss 100% of the shots you don't take.
- 20:27Speaker 6: That's fair. You missed that one.
- 20:29Speaker 2: Missed it. I took it though.
- 20:32Speaker 4: Bravery.
- 20:33Speaker 2: I love it. You didn't like my car noise?
- 20:35Speaker 6: Yesterday, it was better today. Yesterday, it sounded like the
- 20:39Speaker 6: engine had something wrong with it. What you did yesterday.
- 20:41Speaker 7: It did.
- 20:43Speaker 2: It was like you were sputtering to start. Yeah. Yeah.
- 20:45Speaker 2: We had a flow tip on it.
- 20:48Speaker 6: I don't know what that means.
- 20:50Speaker 8: Your truck yesterday needed probably a new spark plug in it, bud.
- 20:53Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 20:54Speaker 2: It's about to go out. That's not good. Well, if
- 20:57Speaker 2: it did go out by automotive, they'd come pick it up,
- 21:00Speaker 2: bring it back to the shop. That's fair, too. Maybe
- 21:03Speaker 2: that's what you were trying to get at. You know
- 21:04Speaker 2: what I mean? Oh, yeah. You're trying to let the
- 21:06Speaker 2: people know that if this does happen. It's subliminal. You
- 21:10Speaker 2: got somebody for it. You see Kayshaun Booty got traded?
- 21:18Speaker 2: I did.
- 21:20Speaker 3: Went from the Patriots to the Texans for safety. Jalen
- 21:23Speaker 3: Reed in a late round draft choice. This is a
- 21:26Speaker 3: great trade for the Texans. When I went to Patriots camp,
- 21:32Speaker 3: the Kayshaun rumors had already started.
- 21:34Speaker 2: And I was curious. All right.
- 21:36Speaker 3: How's he going to handle this? You've seen it, and
- 21:38Speaker 3: I've seen it. Good people, good players, that when they
- 21:41Speaker 3: know they're not going to be there, I don't want
- 21:43Speaker 3: to say pout. They just have bad body language.
- 21:47Speaker 2: That's human nature, right? That's human nature.
- 21:51Speaker 3: I thought that Keyshawn looked as quick as I've ever
- 21:55Speaker 3: seen him before. I thought at times he looked like
- 22:03Speaker 3: the best receiver out there, Because A.J. Brown was still
- 22:07Speaker 3: trying to figure his way out. You could tell he
- 22:09Speaker 3: was a new team, and he was kind of trying
- 22:12Speaker 3: to stand back a little bit and figure out what's
- 22:14Speaker 3: going on. So I thought Kayshaun handled himself very well
- 22:18Speaker 3: in that situation where we've seen it play out completely opposite.
- 22:22Speaker 3: So I was excited for him that he gets to
- 22:26Speaker 3: go to a new team. Because, look, they signed Romeo Dobbs.
- 22:29Speaker 3: They traded for A.J.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Brown.
- 22:31Speaker 3: When they signed Dobbs, they probably didn't know that they
- 22:33Speaker 3: could land A.J. Brown for sure, but they did. And
- 22:36Speaker 3: they've got Douglas in the slot. They've got Mack Hollins.
- 22:38Speaker 3: They've got a good receiver room. And Keyshawn had the
- 22:41Speaker 3: most value of those ones that wasn't going to be
- 22:43Speaker 3: the first guy out there. And then the Texans have
- 22:48Speaker 3: Higgins go down, second-year player from Iowa State with an
- 22:51Speaker 3: ACL tear, and they quickly make the move to bring
- 22:54Speaker 3: in Keyshawn. I think that they upgraded. I think Higgins
- 22:58Speaker 3: is going to be a good player. I think Keyshawn's
- 23:00Speaker 3: already been a good player. He's got big playability. Yards
- 23:04Speaker 3: per catch was fifth best in the NFL for guys
- 23:06Speaker 3: who qualified last year.
- 23:08Speaker 2: Is he going into year three? Or is it four already?
- 23:12Speaker 2: It should be four.
- 23:13Speaker 8: And I'm not trying to look like I'm wearing purple
- 23:16Speaker 8: and gold glasses over here or anything.
- 23:18Speaker 2: That's fine.
- 23:19Speaker 8: I think Keyshawn Booty right now is their number two
- 23:21Speaker 8: wide receiver in using day steps foot in training camp.
- 23:24Speaker 8: I mean, Jalen Noel, he's down too. He's not out
- 23:27Speaker 8: for the year. Tank Dell just got back after like
- 23:31Speaker 8: a year. And I mean, let's be honest. Tank Dell
- 23:32Speaker 8: has never. been able to stay healthy in his NFL career. Like,
- 23:36Speaker 8: Deshaun's the number two guy.
- 23:39Speaker 3: I think so as well. Xavier Hutchinson's there. I think
- 23:41Speaker 3: he's a nice player. He's a good person to have
- 23:43Speaker 3: in the back end of your receiver room. Outside of that, like,
- 23:48Speaker 3: they like Jared Wayne. He's been there for a couple years.
- 23:50Speaker 3: They continue to bring him back. I know they signed
- 23:52Speaker 3: Zay Jones as well. Sterling Shepard, I believe, was added
- 23:57Speaker 3: after the injury.
- 23:58Speaker 5: Look, the Texans season– It's going to come down to
- 24:03Speaker 5: CJ Stroud. And what have you done for me lately?
- 24:09Speaker 5: He's stunk. He's absolutely stunk.
- 24:13Speaker 2: Tell us how you really feel.
- 24:15Speaker 5: He has, and I've been very vocal about that because
- 24:17Speaker 5: he's got the ability. He's shown the ability, and I
- 24:20Speaker 5: don't like it when people with the ability don't play
- 24:24Speaker 5: up to their standard that they should have. He has
- 24:27Speaker 5: proven that he can play at a high level. He's
- 24:30Speaker 5: also proven to me that he's mentally weak.
- 24:34Speaker 2: He stunk.
- 24:36Speaker 5: They should have won the Super Bowl last year, at
- 24:38Speaker 5: least been in it. If he plays well, if he
- 24:40Speaker 5: plays anywhere close to where he did as a rookie,
- 24:42Speaker 5: as a rookie, you can't play as good as you
- 24:45Speaker 5: did as a rookie. If he plays anywhere close to
- 24:49Speaker 5: that level, they make the.
- 24:50Speaker 2: Super Bowl this year. I mean, I'm in full agreeance
- 24:55Speaker 2: with you. They are that good. I think so, too.
- 24:58Speaker 4: Everywhere.
- 25:00Speaker 2: Everywhere. So it comes down to that position.
- 25:03Speaker 3: And you can tell that they think they're that good
- 25:05Speaker 3: by going to make the move for Kayshaun.
- 25:08Speaker 2: Yeah. Because they had an injury, and they said, nope,
- 25:10Speaker 2: this will not define our season. We ain't doing that.
- 25:13Speaker 2: Where do we have some depth? All right, we got
- 25:15Speaker 2: some depth at safety.
- 25:16Speaker 3: We signed Reem Blankenship in the offseason.
- 25:18Speaker 2: Let's go make that move.
- 25:19Speaker 3: And Kayshaun feels like, from what I saw of him,
- 25:23Speaker 3: feels like an upgrade, and that could be.
- 25:25Speaker 2: A difference maker.
- 25:26Speaker 5: CJ, to me, carries himself and has the demeanor and
- 25:29Speaker 5: the face of a kicker.
- 25:32Speaker 2: I do. I do.
- 25:33Speaker 5: I think he's, I think he's a, I think he's
- 25:34Speaker 5: a head case, but kickers get on hot strings.
- 25:38Speaker 2: Kickers have great years. Like I think he got in
- 25:42Speaker 2: his own head last year and it showed. Yeah. He
- 25:45Speaker 2: played a little bit better towards the end of the season.
- 25:49Speaker 5: But when I, when I say like high school, Harry
- 25:51Speaker 5: type plays decision-making accuracy, a threat, like missing flat routes,
- 25:55Speaker 5: missing spot routes over the ball. Like I'm talking embarrassing
- 26:00Speaker 5: for an NFL quarterback. embarrassing plays. Everybody makes bad plays.
- 26:04Speaker 5: Everybody has bad games. But to watch consistently the mistakes
- 26:10Speaker 5: that he was making mentally and physically was brutal to watch.
- 26:14Speaker 5: And it makes me mad when guys that are that
- 26:17Speaker 5: talented and have shown that are that good get it.
- 26:19Speaker 5: Like that tells me there is a mental issue happening.
- 26:24Speaker 5: It's between the ears.
- 26:25Speaker 2: Yeah. And I don't want to read too much into it.
- 26:29Speaker 2: You can.
- 26:30Speaker 3: No, I'm saying like, so we had him in training camp.
- 26:34Speaker 3: So I interviewed him. He was very respectful.
- 26:37Speaker 2: Shook your hand. Seems like a great kid.
- 26:38Speaker 3: Looked you in the eye. Like all of those things. Friendly,
- 26:44Speaker 3: you know, in between. But when we started recording, like
- 26:48Speaker 3: he kind of looked ahead and didn't look side to side.
- 26:51Speaker 3: And we did it with Nico Collins at the same time.
- 26:54Speaker 3: Different personalities to say the least. But it did look
- 26:57Speaker 3: like there's a thousand things right now going through CJ's brain.
- 27:00Speaker 2: Right.
- 27:01Speaker 5: He's got to be feeling the pressure because he knows
- 27:03Speaker 5: how good everybody is. He knows how good the people
- 27:05Speaker 5: around him are.
- 27:07Speaker 2: And again, he's got the ability, and I hope he does.
- 27:10Speaker 5: I hope he goes and proves me wrong and all
- 27:12Speaker 5: the haters wrong because we are hating because of what
- 27:14Speaker 5: we saw in the field and the product that was
- 27:17Speaker 5: put out there. So if he does go and have
- 27:20Speaker 5: a good year, they're going to have an opportunity to
- 27:23Speaker 5: win it all, and I hope they do because Huck
- 27:25Speaker 5: would be happy.
- 27:29Speaker 2: Big Stingley guy. I forgot about that. Sting's a man
- 27:35Speaker 2: of very few words. I will say I dumped all
- 27:36Speaker 2: my CJ Stroud cards.
- 27:40Speaker 6: I bet you he's going to do real good this season.
- 27:41Speaker 2: He probably is. That's a good sign for him, honestly.
- 27:44Speaker 2: Who'd you do that to?
- 27:45Speaker 7: Huh?
- 27:46Speaker 2: Who'd you do that? Like, you got somebody to... Yeah, somebody.
- 27:50Speaker 2: Some sucker. Some idiot.
- 27:53Speaker 3: He's a real big dum-dum. But to your point, I mean,
- 27:57Speaker 3: he doesn't have to be a world beater. If he
- 27:59Speaker 3: just plays remotely close to how he did his first year,
- 28:02Speaker 3: that's a.
- 28:02Speaker 2: Completely different thing. He can be a world beater. That's
- 28:04Speaker 2: the thing. You think?
- 28:06Speaker 5: I mean, he has shown it. But I don't think
- 28:09Speaker 5: he can consistently be a world beater because I think
- 28:13Speaker 5: he is mentally weak.
- 28:16Speaker 2: All right. We will step away. We've got more OTB, though,
- 28:20Speaker 2: coming right back your way.
- 28:21Speaker 3: Stay locked in here. Come back live from the Raising
- 28:23Speaker 3: Cane Studio.
- 28:25Speaker 1: Off the bench.
- 28:26Speaker 3: All right, go to RussellPools.com, RussellPools.com, the website for Russell
- 28:30Speaker 3: Pool Company. Now, they've been in the game since the
- 28:33Speaker 3: 1960s here in South Louisiana. So, look, when you're dealing
- 28:36Speaker 3: with South Louisiana and the weather, it can be harsh.
- 28:39Speaker 3: But you're going to want somebody that knows the conditions.
- 28:42Speaker 3: They know how to build a pool that is going
- 28:44Speaker 3: to stand up and stand tall in those harsh conditions.
- 28:47Speaker 3: And also one that can give you all the bells,
- 28:49Speaker 3: all the whistles that you're looking for. So if you
- 28:52Speaker 3: want to deal with the best, if you want to
- 28:53Speaker 3: deal with somebody that's been doing it, again, since the
- 28:56Speaker 3: 1960s here in the area, there's only one company, and
- 28:58Speaker 3: that's Russell Pool Company.
- 28:59Speaker 1: That's right.
- 29:00Speaker 2: Cannonball season. Russell Pools. RussellPools.com.
- 29:04Speaker 5: The name you think of when you think of the
- 29:05Speaker 5: highest quality custom pools in all of Louisiana.
- 29:07Speaker 2: Chris Sanderson.
- 29:08Speaker 5: His team over there, they're doing incredible work all over Louisiana.
- 29:13Speaker 5: So if you have been wanting to turn that backyard
- 29:16Speaker 5: into like a backyard oasis with a dream pool, give
- 29:18Speaker 5: them a call. They got two landscape architects on staff.
- 29:21Speaker 5: They'll take your dream to reality the entire step of
- 29:23Speaker 5: the way.
- 29:24Speaker 2: Russellpools.com.
- 29:28Speaker 1: Tigers turn talkers. This is Off the Bench. Now that
- 29:37Speaker 1: she's back in the atmosphere.
- 30:01Speaker 2: Since the return.
- 30:02Speaker 3: Of a stay on the moon, she listens like spring
- 30:05Speaker 3: and she talks like June.
- 30:08Speaker 2: What's our favorite train song?
- 30:09Speaker 6: This one.
- 30:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, maybe this. I mean, Virginia. Go on. God,
- 30:16Speaker 2: I wish I could sing. I'd be, I mean, y'all
- 30:20Speaker 2: would be so annoyed at me if I could sing.
- 30:22Speaker 5: Soul Sister's good, but.
- 30:28Speaker 2: Drops of Jupiter is probably the answer.
- 30:30Speaker 6: Soul Sister got overplayed whenever it came out.
- 30:32Speaker 2: I mean, smoke's a pack a day. Weight, that's me.
- 30:34Speaker 2: But anyway, it's a great line.
- 30:36Speaker 3: At least it was when I was in high school.
- 30:39Speaker 2: I thought it was cool. So tight. I don't even smoke.
- 30:43Speaker 2: Were you... Which clone were you, Polo? Yup. Cool Water.
- 30:48Speaker 2: Cool Water. Curve. Curve had a run. Were you spray
- 30:52Speaker 2: on each wrist and the neck? Yes.
- 30:55Speaker 5: Or were you mist the... The air in front of
- 30:58Speaker 5: you and walk through?
- 30:59Speaker 3: Spray on like the forearm area, rub it together, lift
- 31:02Speaker 3: the shirt, give a spray like right here, you know,
- 31:05Speaker 3: like chest area under the shirt.
- 31:08Speaker 2: All right. And that's my move.
- 31:09Speaker 5: I always thought it was weird how people do the
- 31:11Speaker 5: wrist and then they wipe the wrist on like their neck.
- 31:14Speaker 2: Yeah. It's not efficient. Females, I think maybe, right? Females
- 31:17Speaker 2: do it that way, right? It's hard to get the
- 31:19Speaker 2: wrist to touch the neck, I feel like. I mean,
- 31:22Speaker 2: we're big dum-dums and we're flexible. Maybe my biceps. I
- 31:26Speaker 2: don't know, dude. Maybe we're pretty good at it over here, but, like,
- 31:29Speaker 2: I don't think she's getting it. Zip your lips. Yeah, dude,
- 31:32Speaker 2: you didn't do cologne. You just went. Actually, actually, that
- 31:37Speaker 2: must have been a long run. I remember old sixth grade.
- 31:40Speaker 2: Old sixth grade, we had some curve. Curve, curve. And
- 31:42Speaker 2: I was simple. I was two squirts on the back
- 31:45Speaker 2: of the neck. That was it. That's what we did.
- 31:48Speaker 2: Two what? Two squirts on the back of the neck.
- 31:51Speaker 2: The back of the neck?
- 31:52Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 31:58Speaker 2: So funny, guys.
- 31:59Speaker 4: I don't know why two squirts in the back of
- 32:00Speaker 4: the neck is so funny.
- 32:03Speaker 2: What? Spritzes.
- 32:06Speaker 6: Two squirts on the neck. Hang on a minute.
- 32:12Speaker 2: Hold up.
- 32:13Speaker 1: Hold up.
- 32:15Speaker 2: Hold up. Hold up. We're going to work.
- 32:20Speaker 6: Everybody lock in. Everybody lock in.
- 32:22Speaker 2: Everybody lock in. All right. Usually not all of us
- 32:27Speaker 2: give the giggles over things. It's just one or two
- 32:29Speaker 2: of us.
- 32:29Speaker 3: When somebody says, I used to do two squirts on
- 32:32Speaker 3: the back of the neck.
- 32:34Speaker 2: Come on. We were feeling fancy. Sometimes it was three. Oh, man.
- 32:39Speaker 6: All right.
- 32:48Speaker 1: I got it.
- 32:50Speaker 6: The back of the neck?
- 32:51Speaker 2: The back of the neck? That's crazy. Oh, man. I
- 32:55Speaker 2: was in sixth grade, guys.
- 32:57Speaker 6: Someone said back squirts?
- 32:59Speaker 2: That's where, yeah. You gotta pay extra for that.
- 33:01Speaker 1: Back squirts?
- 33:11Speaker 6: Did he say squirts?
- 33:12Speaker 2: I did. Two on the back of the neck, to
- 33:17Speaker 2: be specific. Oh, God.
- 33:23Speaker 1: Oh.
- 33:24Speaker 2: Sorry.
- 33:26Speaker 6: That was the text.
- 33:27Speaker 4: The text was the back of the neck. A lot
- 33:33Speaker 4: of backshot talk in the chat. Have y'all seen those
- 33:37Speaker 4: pranks where they tell the mom at Starbucks and they're like,
- 33:42Speaker 4: can you order a couple backshots? And the mom is like,
- 33:45Speaker 4: can I get a grande with two backshots?
- 33:51Speaker 6: And the person's always like, What?
- 33:55Speaker 2: Jake in the chat, is that code for something else
- 33:57Speaker 2: in LP? Joey, the back? She's behind you? Daniel, was
- 34:05Speaker 2: that how Razor was conceived? I don't know if that's possible. Abo,
- 34:12Speaker 2: some things you just keep to yourself, Taylor. This is
- 34:15Speaker 2: what I did, guys. We were in junior high. In
- 34:16Speaker 2: junior high? Adam Fields. Adam Fields. Like Kim Kardashian? a
- 34:24Speaker 2: great comeback story.
- 34:25Speaker 6: If we're going somewhere fancy, it was three squirts.
- 34:34Speaker 2: It was.
- 34:40Speaker 6: Anyway, drops of Jupiter.
- 34:43Speaker 2: Me, Virginia. Cologne. Talking about cologne. East Taylor.
- 34:52Speaker 4: Taylor would go stand with his back facing a group
- 34:55Speaker 4: of girls hoping they would still laugh.
- 34:58Speaker 2: Sneak out behind him. You smell it everywhere.
- 35:04Speaker 6: I'm more laughing at the innuendo than I'm.
- 35:06Speaker 2: Laughing at the neck. I've never heard the back of
- 35:10Speaker 2: the neck.
- 35:10Speaker 7: I haven't.
- 35:11Speaker 2: That's new to me.
- 35:13Speaker 8: The two squirts.
- 35:17Speaker 5: We say a lot of things. There's a lot of like,
- 35:20Speaker 5: There's a lot of that's what she said moments on
- 35:22Speaker 5: this show. But usually only one of us gets the giggles.
- 35:25Speaker 2: But that one was like. That was a little over
- 35:27Speaker 2: the top.
- 35:28Speaker 6: Someone said back squirts back.
- 35:30Speaker 1: All right.
- 35:33Speaker 2: Oh, my gosh.
- 35:36Speaker 7: Anyway.
- 35:37Speaker 2: Any who's. How about them tigers, huh?
- 35:41Speaker 6: Everybody walk in.
- 35:42Speaker 2: Everybody. There's college football this week. This weekend. Week zero.
- 35:47Speaker 4: Are we doing a week zero pontoon parlay?
- 35:49Speaker 2: Of course we are.
- 35:52Speaker 8: So we got to have parlay and our bold predictions
- 35:55Speaker 8: ready for tomorrow.
- 35:57Speaker 2: Huh? Damn, dude. We got homework.
- 35:59Speaker 6: We do have homework.
- 36:00Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 36:01Speaker 6: Parlay and bold predictions tomorrow.
- 36:03Speaker 2: We got special guests up here tomorrow. Special guests tomorrow.
- 36:04Speaker 2: Special guests tomorrow. Hold Mayo in studio. They'll be right here.
- 36:08Speaker 2: We'll catch beers.
- 36:08Speaker 6: Respect your body.
- 36:10Speaker 2: Respect your body. He's famous. I'm nervous. We got a
- 36:13Speaker 2: busy show. Matt, we might have to do four hours tomorrow.
- 36:15Speaker 2: We might have to do four hours. I don't know
- 36:16Speaker 2: if we can squeeze all this in. Let's do it
- 36:18Speaker 2: all day.
- 36:18Speaker 4: We should do it.
- 36:19Speaker 2: Do we get to charge time and a half for that?
- 36:22Speaker 2: Do we get to charge overtime for that? Yeah.
- 36:25Speaker 6: I mean, we could keep going on YouTube as long
- 36:26Speaker 6: as we want.
- 36:27Speaker 2: Should we tell Hunt, like, don't worry about... Yeah, we
- 36:29Speaker 2: got it. We ain't leaving. We're just going to go
- 36:31Speaker 2: all the way. We're not leaving. You can pull up
- 36:33Speaker 2: a chair. We could do a joint chair.
- 36:38Speaker 3: I would love for Hunt to sit in this chair
- 36:42Speaker 3: for this show and to see how he reacts.
- 36:44Speaker 2: Yeah, talk about cologne application. Yeah. He'd be like, what
- 36:48Speaker 2: about the court case? You'd be like, yeah, but what
- 36:50Speaker 2: about two squirts in the back of your neck? That's right.
- 36:53Speaker 2: What about the injunction? What about power? Mm-hmm.
- 36:59Speaker 6: You got the tags.
- 37:02Speaker 2: Woo.
- 37:03Speaker 6: A TV complaint bag. I don't know if they want
- 37:06Speaker 6: me to read this, but I'm going to read it.
- 37:07Speaker 6: OTB complaint bag.
- 37:09Speaker 4: I am 35 years old and in the car with
- 37:11Speaker 4: my 70-year-old mother, and I feel awkward like when I
- 37:13Speaker 4: was a teenager getting driven to school and certain rap
- 37:17Speaker 4: songs came on.
- 37:20Speaker 2: Shout out to mom, though.
- 37:22Speaker 4: Shout out, mom.
- 37:23Speaker 2: Look, she was chuckling, too. Don't lie to us. Shout out, mom. Yeah,
- 37:28Speaker 2: she knows.
- 37:29Speaker 4: Ask the bitch, can I get Jake and Matt to
- 37:31Speaker 4: inscribe cards this weekend with two squares?
- 37:35Speaker 2: I can't. You can get Taylor.
- 37:36Speaker 6: We got Two Squirt Tay-Tay over here.
- 37:38Speaker 2: Two Squirt Tay-Tay. That's what they call him. Two Squirt Tay-Tay.
- 37:42Speaker 2: That's what everybody's calling him.
- 37:43Speaker 7: Two Squirt.
- 37:43Speaker 2: That's what they're calling him.
- 37:45Speaker 6: Two Squirt.
- 37:46Speaker 2: Oh, man. There's no coming back from that.
- 37:49Speaker 7: No, you can't.
- 37:50Speaker 2: Not in this segment. We've tried three times. Yeah, we
- 37:53Speaker 2: should just cut it. All right. We'll go to break.
- 37:59Speaker 2: We'll be back. Hey, there was a list that was
- 38:00Speaker 2: put up. About what?
- 38:03Speaker 6: Top five squirts of all time.
- 38:04Speaker 2: No. Top 100 players in college football ranked. Are you
- 38:14Speaker 2: teasing something? Yeah, that. When we come back?
- 38:17Speaker 4: Uh-huh.
- 38:18Speaker 2: Right here. Live from the Raising Cane Studio? Oh, yeah,
- 38:20Speaker 2: right here. We'll be back.

- 39:30Speaker 1: Off the Bench with Hester and Flynn, Baton Rouge's go-to
- 39:34Speaker 1: for all things Louisiana sports.
- 39:52Speaker 3: All right, welcome back in OTB. You're live from the
- 39:56Speaker 3: Razor Cane Studio. Jake, Flynn, Alondra, two squirts all here
- 40:00Speaker 3: with you on this Thursday.
- 40:02Speaker 2: Almost said afternoon. It's not there yet. Morning.
- 40:05Speaker 3: Matthew, you teased the college football player rankings, the top
- 40:10Speaker 3: 100 players ahead of the college football season.
- 40:13Speaker 2: Where can we see the first LSU Tiger? Oh, that
- 40:17Speaker 2: is a great question. Thank you for asking.
- 40:21Speaker 5: I was looking at the list, and these rankings are
- 40:23Speaker 5: always whatever. You take it with a grain of salt.
- 40:25Speaker 5: How do you rank the top college players in the country,
- 40:29Speaker 5: especially like 100 of them? I get like the NFL
- 40:32Speaker 5: rankings because you're getting a lot of people different voting,
- 40:34Speaker 5: but this is just, you know, some guy. So the
- 40:37Speaker 5: first ranking that we see for LSU, at number 80, Mr. Prince, well,
- 40:40Speaker 5: Uman Mialan comes in at number 80. Then we are
- 40:44Speaker 5: going to go to Tredez Green sitting at 49. What
- 40:50Speaker 5: I found interesting was there are four LSU players that
- 40:54Speaker 5: are ranked ahead of Trey does, which, you know, I
- 40:56Speaker 5: think trade as can be one of the most dynamic
- 40:58Speaker 5: playmakers in the entire year. Um, so 41 wit weeks,
- 41:04Speaker 5: then we have Ty Benefield coming to 38, Sam Levitt
- 41:06Speaker 5: at 37. And the highest ranked LSU player is Mr.
- 41:11Speaker 5: Jordan Seton at 34, right? 34 player in the country. Um,
- 41:18Speaker 5: give you, Kind of a breakdown of who the top
- 41:20Speaker 5: ten on this list is. Carter Smith, offensive tackle from Indiana,
- 41:24Speaker 5: comes in at number ten. Jaden Maiva, quarterback, USC.
- 41:28Speaker 2: How did I say that? Did I nail that? Pretty much.
- 41:31Speaker 2: Credit to myself. I've heard Maiva, Maiava. Maiava. Maiva.
- 41:36Speaker 5: We're going to go with Julian Sayen at number eight, quarterback,
- 41:39Speaker 5: Ohio State. CJ Carr, quarterback, Notre Dame at number seven.
- 41:42Speaker 5: Kawan Lacy, number six. obviously running back Ole Miss. Then
- 41:46Speaker 5: Trinidad at number five. A little bit low for my
- 41:49Speaker 5: liking for Mr.
- 41:50Speaker 2: Trinidad.
- 41:51Speaker 5: Malachi Atoni, wide receiver Miami. Colin Simmons, edge from Texas.
- 41:55Speaker 5: Leonard Moore, cornerback from Notre Dame. And number one, Jeremiah Smith,
- 41:59Speaker 5: wide receiver Ohio State.
- 42:02Speaker 3: Yeah, Jeremiah Smith is somebody that people have been talking
- 42:04Speaker 3: about for a very, very long time.
- 42:06Speaker 2: Like, he's going into his third year.
- 42:09Speaker 3: They– talked about him his freshman year when Ohio state
- 42:11Speaker 3: won the national championship, that if he were to come
- 42:13Speaker 3: out after that year, he might've been the top overall
- 42:15Speaker 3: pick like that kind of talk around him.
- 42:17Speaker 2: So we'll see if he can live up to that.
- 42:21Speaker 3: I'm interested in Q on Lacey, how that one plays out.
- 42:24Speaker 3: It's a really good player from a year ago, 1500 yards,
- 42:28Speaker 3: I think 24 touchdowns. They're going to try to run
- 42:33Speaker 3: the same stuff and we'll see if it can be
- 42:35Speaker 3: as effective because.
- 42:36Speaker 2: A part of it's hard. It's for running back.
- 42:38Speaker 5: It's hard to be, to, put together two years like that, right?
- 42:44Speaker 5: That was an exceptional year. I mean, is he going
- 42:47Speaker 5: to have a good year?
- 42:47Speaker 2: Yeah. Is he going to have a great year? That's
- 42:49Speaker 2: going to be hard. It's going to be hard to
- 42:50Speaker 2: duplicate what he did.
- 42:52Speaker 3: You said Trinidad Chambliss at five. I think you wanted
- 42:55Speaker 3: him a little bit higher. I would have put him
- 42:57Speaker 3: at– I mean, it's hard to compare positions. That's the
- 43:02Speaker 3: thing about these types of lists. It's hard to compare position.
- 43:05Speaker 3: He is ranked as the highest quarterback, which I 100%
- 43:08Speaker 3: agree with. But I think the top quarterback in the
- 43:11Speaker 3: country should be at least in the top three players, right?
- 43:16Speaker 3: So you got Jeremiah Smith, Leonard Moore, Colin Simmons, the
- 43:18Speaker 3: top three. Then right outside of the top ten, Dante Moore,
- 43:22Speaker 3: quarterback at Oregon. Then Arch Manning sitting at 13.
- 43:28Speaker 2: Look at me. I called him Arch. I didn't feel right.
- 43:32Speaker 2: I felt weird. I was dirty.
- 43:35Speaker 3: So according to this list, and it's just one list,
- 43:38Speaker 3: It's believed that Ole Miss has the best quarterback and
- 43:41Speaker 3: running back in the country.
- 43:46Speaker 2: We've talked about it. There's a chance that's true. They're awesome.
- 43:50Speaker 5: I just worry about the pieces around those two. For
- 43:53Speaker 5: a preseason ranking, that's absolutely true. For the top quarterback,
- 43:57Speaker 5: top running back. Preseason ranking, absolutely. He was the best
- 44:02Speaker 5: quarterback outside of Fernando this past season. Juan Lacy was
- 44:06Speaker 5: probably the best back outside of. Jeremiah Love. So, I
- 44:13Speaker 5: like it. It does, like, from an LSU perspective, it
- 44:17Speaker 5: does surprise me that they have four people at LSU
- 44:20Speaker 5: ranked ahead of Trey Dez just because I think he's
- 44:22Speaker 5: that big of a game changer. But you looked at the,
- 44:25Speaker 5: of this top 100 list, just to kind of give
- 44:27Speaker 5: you a kind of a look ahead from a team
- 44:31Speaker 5: perspective on who the most talented teams are. When we
- 44:36Speaker 5: talk about these top players, Oregon has the most in
- 44:38Speaker 5: the top 100, eight players. Indiana and Texas are tied
- 44:41Speaker 5: for second with seven, which is wild because Indiana is
- 44:45Speaker 5: pretty famous for not having any five stars, but they
- 44:48Speaker 5: have seven players in the top 100. Then LSU and
- 44:52Speaker 5: Texas Tech sitting at tied fourth with six, six in
- 44:57Speaker 5: the top 100. So Indiana surprised me a little bit
- 45:02Speaker 5: of having this many people up there.
- 45:05Speaker 3: Indiana really bucked the system when it came to the
- 45:10Speaker 3: blue chip ratio that.
- 45:11Speaker 2: T-Bob used to live by. I'm like, it's stupid.
- 45:14Speaker 3: I can't wait until somebody wins a national championship to
- 45:16Speaker 3: get that out of here.
- 45:17Speaker 6: Marler lives by it, too. He's been bringing it up.
- 45:21Speaker 2: I hate it. I hate it so bad. What? Blue
- 45:27Speaker 2: chip ratio. You've got to have this amount of four
- 45:29Speaker 2: stars and five stars. I get it because it's easy.
- 45:35Speaker 2: It's like an easy thing to look at. Well, they've
- 45:37Speaker 2: got more talent.
- 45:38Speaker 5: And you've got to have the right type of talent,
- 45:41Speaker 5: the right type of team makeup.
- 45:46Speaker 2: And you can overcome one, but you can't. You can
- 45:50Speaker 2: overcome talent with the right.
- 45:52Speaker 3: Indiana won it last year with a handful of James
- 45:55Speaker 3: Madison players and a quarterback that came from Cal.
- 46:00Speaker 5: That's why we talked about when we talked about the
- 46:01Speaker 5: preseason rankings, it was team rankings. It was we do
- 46:05Speaker 5: think Indiana is a little bit, you know, it's a
- 46:09Speaker 5: little bit underrated. And I'd like to, you know, maybe
- 46:11Speaker 5: we can talk about this next hour. Who do you
- 46:13Speaker 5: think has the best chance of repeating as champions?
- 46:16Speaker 2: Indiana?
- 46:17Speaker 7: No.
- 46:17Speaker 2: Indiana? The Seattle Seahawks. Okay. I can get behind that.
- 46:21Speaker 2: Because it's really hard to do in either league. It's
- 46:26Speaker 2: really hard.
- 46:27Speaker 3: All right, we got hour number three coming right back
- 46:29Speaker 3: your way. Stay locked in to OTV.
- 46:32Speaker 1: Off the bench.
- 46:34Speaker 3: All right, not tomorrow, not tomorrow, but very, very soon
- 46:39Speaker 3: on a Friday. The next week, it's going to be
- 46:41Speaker 3: football Friday at Rouse's. We can't wait. Right there, Burbank
- 46:46Speaker 3: and Lee. We're going to be there every Friday during
- 46:49Speaker 3: the football season. So look forward to that. And you
- 46:52Speaker 3: should always look forward to going to.
- 46:54Speaker 2: Your local Rouse's.
- 46:55Speaker 3: Go to Rouse's.com to find that location that's convenient for you.
- 46:59Speaker 2: Check out the weekly specials for your store. And also,
- 47:02Speaker 2: you know, tailgate, right? That's happening. Hotel gating. Hotel gating.
- 47:07Speaker 2: I don't know if you know about that here in
- 47:09Speaker 2: Baton Rouge. They got you covered.
- 47:11Speaker 3: You see, if you're watching this on YouTube, all the
- 47:13Speaker 3: trays right there already ready to go run in, grab them.

- 47:24Speaker 5: that spread of food at the tailgate. I got you
