- 0:09Speaker 1: Inside the Birds is back.
- 0:14Speaker 2: What's going on?
- 0:15Speaker 1: Everybody is Jeff Mosher Adam kaplan for an Inside the
- 0:18Birds and hey, guess what, Adam, I know everybody's getting
- 0:21really excited. Why well, because this is basically the last
- 0:26week of No Eagles football, as training camp will begin
- 0:30the following week.
- 0:32Speaker 2: You know, the players are report. I mean stuff really
- 0:34won't ratch it up, but it doesn't matter.
- 0:36Speaker 1: July twenty second is the day players got to be there,
- 0:39so that technically is next week, and Adam, we will
- 0:42then turn the page for Inside the Birds. It'll be
- 0:43season eight once that begins. Is that not unbelievable or.
- 0:47Speaker 2: What it is? Man? I remember the spring of twenty
- 0:50eighteen when we threw something together and trying to figure
- 0:54it out, and we figured it out. It's been fun, Yeah,
- 0:57no doubt about it. And it's kind of cool because
- 0:59they're coming off for the first time in the history
- 1:01of our show. They're actually coming off of a Super
- 1:04Bowl victory. Yeah, they're a defending champion and by the way,
- 1:08they have the shortest odds the odds makers are picking
- 1:12them to win. Surprises me. It's the changes that's impressive.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I reminded me of something that happened this week
- 1:20and I ran into an Eagles fan who recognized me
- 1:23and started talking to me, and he said, Jeff, I
- 1:26really think this is our year. And I said, you
- 1:29just won the Super Bowl? Something you say when you
- 1:31haven't won it.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Where was he sleeping last year? But he said. What
- 1:35he said was I really like how this team's gonna
- 1:38come together.
- 1:39Speaker 1: And I thought, well, that's that's interesting, because right there's
- 1:42a whole lot of newness and there's not only just
- 1:44new guys, but there's a whole lot of guys who
- 1:46really have to step into roles that are going to
- 1:48be larger and a bigger capacity. And that segues nicely
- 1:51at him to a great idea you had for this
- 1:54podcast that we're going to do right now, and it's
- 1:56what are the ten keys to the Eagles being able
- 1:59to win a Super Bowl and repeat become repeat super
- 2:03Bowl champions? And we went with five offense, five defense,
- 2:07just to even out and take a look at the
- 2:08team as a whole. Because when the person said this
- 2:12to me, I thought, I wonder if a lot of
- 2:15Eagles fans feel like that way, like this is a
- 2:17great opportunity to repeat, or if a lot of fans
- 2:20think last year was an amazing season, but it's really
- 2:23hard to lose almost half your starting defense and coordinators
- 2:27and you know when everybody's coming to get you to
- 2:30do it again. I mean, it really takes a special
- 2:32team to be able to do it again.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Yeah, it's so hard to repeat. It really is. When
- 2:36we know the Chiefs have done it, but and Patriots
- 2:38have done it. But it's it's hard, man, because the
- 2:42free agency, injury factor, There's just so many things that
- 2:47have to go right to get back, first of all,
- 2:51then to win it back to back is so difficult
- 2:53to do. So bottom line is the Eagles were able
- 2:56to make sure that the Chiefs didn't win three in
- 2:57a row, as we know, and they got their ring
- 3:01or they're getting their rings soon soon enough. But yeah
- 3:05it now. Now. Look, this subject the Keys to a
- 3:09super Bowl run came from a Patreon chat recent one
- 3:12when we were just talking what's going to take for
- 3:15them to get back? I'm like, Aha, this is not
- 3:17your training camp questions. This is about what will it
- 3:19take you got to the super Bowl, which you really
- 3:21have not talked about in Hull. So you have that show.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Yeah, this is that show and it comes at a
- 3:27perfect time. And again, training camp will start the following
- 3:31the week and then we'll be off and you know,
- 3:33guns of blazon on all things training camp.
- 3:36Speaker 2: So let's get to it. This is a good list.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Ten keys to the Eagles making another Super Bowl run.
- 3:42Five on offense, five on defense, and we're going to
- 3:45start with the defense. And I don't I don't you
- 3:50know this is ten, but it could be even higher
- 3:52because it's a real it's been an issue for the
- 3:54Eagles in the past, not last year. But the inside
- 3:57linebacker cannot be up. I like how you phrased this
- 4:01too when we when you put this together, inside linebacker
- 4:05can't be the second one can't be a problem. And
- 4:09that is a delicate phrasing intentionally because we know that
- 4:13in the past the Eagles have made Super Bowls, even
- 4:16won a Super Bowl, not with the greatest you know,
- 4:19twenty seventeen they won. They didn't have like the.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Greatest set of inside linebackers.
- 4:23Speaker 1: But I think, as Joe Banner once famously said to you,
- 4:25it's not like we said ignore linebacker. We just didn't
- 4:29value it. But we never said you have to be
- 4:30terrible at the position.
- 4:32Speaker 2: And Adam.
- 4:32Speaker 1: There have been a couple of years when Eagles has
- 4:34been good but have been held back by.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Having really bad inside linebacker play. So this is where
- 4:40this came up. So I don't know, you might know
- 4:42better than not. I'm pretty certain you and I were
- 4:44hosting a show with Joe and either you or not,
- 4:47your eye brought up. We were laughing because we we
- 4:49were gonna give you some guff over the line. I
- 4:51think it was you. I think for some reason, I
- 4:53think it was you, But I just remember laughing. I
- 4:56was like, I cannot wait to hear how he's going
- 4:57to respond to this. And what he said was he acknowledged,
- 5:00you know, Brian Rolls of the world, you could go
- 5:03Greg Lloyd, j you could go through all these late
- 5:05round picks, Brian roll I'm thinking about all those guys
- 5:10most uh uh mos Moses. Was that it, yeah, you
- 5:16could go through the last and it just would you like.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Would you like Jamar Cheney, Akeem Jordan, Brian Matthews, Creig Lloyd,
- 5:25We can go on.
- 5:26Speaker 2: And and but what is it can't be a problem.
- 5:30That was exactly what he said, right, So I hijacked
- 5:34that line and I was like, you know, what that's
- 5:35what we're going to use here. It you could be
- 5:38just average because Bond. By the way, I talked to
- 5:42someone who graded his tape from last season. I talked
- 5:44to this guy last week. The tape was legitimate. This
- 5:49guy said, you know, his GPS numbers were great. He said,
- 5:52he's he Goes man. He didn't realize, like he didn't
- 5:56know what you and I know knew that they didn't
- 5:59sign a plane side back er this. This guy didn't
- 6:01know that. He just said, Wow, this is incredible what
- 6:04this guy's pulled off. I said to this guy, I'm like,
- 6:06do you think he could repeat he goes? Yes, because
- 6:07he he's such instincts to play the position. I don't
- 6:13know how the hell he has them, but he does.
- 6:15He just has it, like he he has the ability
- 6:19to play the position the right way. But then next
- 6:22to him right now Strot Junior. We know behind the
- 6:25scenes we repeated this, you know, we put this out
- 6:28last year. They were very happy with him in practice,
- 6:30but that's practice. We don't know what he looks like
- 6:31in a game, right So, I mean he's a smaller guy.
- 6:35We know he's very smart, a little bit better athlete
- 6:38than maybe we first thought, but it can't be a problem.
- 6:43We're not gonna know if it's a it's a plus
- 6:44or a problem. Do we get there? And again, we
- 6:47don't know about your hot campbell. In terms of being
- 6:49ready for the season. We know he'll be on the
- 6:50practice field some fincher some time in August, but we
- 6:54don't know what that looks like. We don't how much
- 6:55they're gonna give it inside backer because they're well, I
- 6:58guess they said you're going to start off there, but
- 7:01we don't know. Because this is a different defense that
- 7:03he played in college, we don't know where he'll be.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Rightly, I have concerns, just as you outlined it, but
- 7:10I also feel like confident that not only do you
- 7:13have Zach Bown, who, even if he doesn't replicate last year,
- 7:17is still going to hold his own. So I'm confident
- 7:20that no matter what, this linebacking group will not make
- 7:24us think of the days of the Duke Riley, Alex
- 7:28Singleton make Gury Trio when they whenever they had to
- 7:31have three linebacker.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Alex is a good player, though it's unfortunately he was. Yeah,
- 7:35he's coming up in town a cli which some of
- 7:37the best of luck. I'll come back from it. But yeah,
- 7:41it it, and I don't Trotter's not. Honestly, I think
- 7:44Trotter's trot Junior is better than any of those could
- 7:46Like ten guys we mentioned. That's right, that's your point.
- 7:51What he can't be a problem. That was Joe's point.
- 7:54I would have loved to have been inside those conversations
- 7:57of what when Joe. Yeah, because this is mostly before
- 8:00Joe left with Andy, with Howie, with whoever, Jim Johnson,
- 8:09Sean McDermott. You can look at the lot and plus
- 8:12whoever the linebacker who were the lot? Some of the
- 8:13linebacker coaches do we remember? I know Ron Rivera very
- 8:16early in Andy' screw, but do we remember, oh.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Gosh, linebacker coaches under Andy?
- 8:22Speaker 2: Oh the guy who coached Westchester Bill.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I can see, oh Man, I can see him.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Bears hired or Sean I can't remember.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Uh And then there's the one who coached under Billy
- 8:33Davis with Chip Kelly, whose name I can't.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Remember, Uh Man I remember? Yeah, Yeah, these guys are
- 8:40just I'm.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Usually really good with going down memory of the land
- 8:42and coaches, But that's how bad the Eagles have been
- 8:44at times at linebacker.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Oh I had Ken Fljoel one year Ken. Yeah, boy,
- 8:49he was a good coach. Yeah yeah, he wanted he
- 8:52wanted out there. Did he shows you though? Right?
- 8:54Speaker 1: He was a good coach.
- 8:55Speaker 2: He has a good career.
- 8:56Speaker 1: But what is if the Eagles linebackers weren't very good
- 8:58because they just he didn't have any work.
- 9:00Speaker 2: I know, and I remember he wasn't real happy with
- 9:04what was going on here and he went to the
- 9:06did you go to the Chiefs with Andy? He went
- 9:09to the Chiefs with indo you at one point? Yeah? Yeah?
- 9:13So yeah, honestly, this this putting him them at ten,
- 9:18it probably should have been higher up in uh you
- 9:22as far as this, as far as questions to get
- 9:24into the super Bowl, probably should have been a little
- 9:26bit higher. But number nine, to me, this could be important.
- 9:31We're expecting to heavy twelve personnel again, to receivers, two
- 9:33tight ends, one back. But we always say, what's your
- 9:36answer if somebody gets hurt? If Smith or Brown are
- 9:39out for a while. We know that Dotson would start.
- 9:43You need to have when you play eleven, you you
- 9:44need to have a competent number three receiver. That's where
- 9:48developing a Naya Smith, Terris Marshall, Danny Gray, so Johnny Wilson,
- 9:55obviously he's only been blocking. Someone has got to emerge
- 9:58here as equality back receiver one hundred agree with you.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Last year they were fairly lucky in that DeVante Smith,
- 10:09I believe, played sixteen or seventeen games or a lot.
- 10:12He played almost every game. AJ Brown had the hamstring
- 10:17issue early that put him out a couple of weeks,
- 10:19but they actually didn't play well those weeks. They started
- 10:22off two and two, as we all remember, so you
- 10:24can see, and we said this in the past, when
- 10:26AJ Brown gets hurt, it's a entirely different offense.
- 10:29Speaker 2: It's just not the same. I think he missed four
- 10:31games last season. Yeah, he played off first two week.
- 10:35First two seasons he played all seventeen and then last
- 10:37year missed four.
- 10:38Speaker 1: But right, he played the season opener right, and then
- 10:41missed the next either three or four.
- 10:42Speaker 2: I think with the well, if you remember, the Tampa
- 10:45Bay game was a total s show because DeVante didn't
- 10:48play and A. J. Brown didn't play and Lane didn't play, right,
- 10:51was it Lane out for that game?
- 10:53Speaker 1: He might have been out for that game as well.
- 10:54Speaker 2: Yeah, Now with the Fred Johnson start, if I'm not mistaken, yep,
- 10:58I think you think you might be right about that. Yeah,
- 11:00I was just almost most of the games. I mean
- 11:03it's he wasn't out that long. Yeah, yeah, yeah, but
- 11:06it is. It's really important because we've used this phrase
- 11:09forever because we took it from coaches. What's our answer
- 11:11if we're missing somebody. You got to have a better
- 11:14answer than Johan Dotson. You like to have size, like
- 11:17Terras Marshall complaints at our outside where an outside receiver
- 11:20could line up inside. Yeah, and then Danny Gray could
- 11:22flat out fly. So I mean they could go with
- 11:25the committee receiver by Committian film with for one of
- 11:28those guys Smith and Brown. But Dotson did look better
- 11:32late in the season. But we have to remember Washington
- 11:35won hit him off the roster. I feel strongly would
- 11:37have cut him if they couldn't trade him, and Eagles
- 11:40overpaid for him. But they I know they were very
- 11:42down on him, that that coaching staff and that new
- 11:44front office. He didn't draft him, so they they were
- 11:47new to him, and they, as we reported this at
- 11:49the time, they were done with him, like they just
- 11:51didn't not nothing with off the field it's it was effort,
- 11:55it's practice performance. They were very down on him and
- 11:58they were going to move him, and they Eagles liked
- 12:00him for that draft and he did look good. Man,
- 12:03he made some plays late in the season. Now, see,
- 12:06here's the cool thing for Johan Dottson. He doesn't have
- 12:10to learn a new offense. Really, it's going to be
- 12:11the same as last year. With whatever tweaks. Patula's gonna
- 12:14makea Remember he had the all offense on a Ron Rivera,
- 12:18then he had Cliff Kingsbury's offense. Then he had to
- 12:21learn this one right right, hugging up against the season. Well,
- 12:25that's not fair to him. So now he's going to
- 12:26full off season. Absolutely all right.
- 12:29Speaker 1: I love our number eight one and this is about
- 12:31the backup quarterback and it's all about Tanner McKee really
- 12:36needing to develop.
- 12:37Speaker 2: Now he is QB two.
- 12:40Speaker 1: Obviously you trade away Kenny Pickett because you have the
- 12:43confidence that he can be QB two. Jalen Hurts has
- 12:46only played seventeen games I think once in the four
- 12:50years of him being a starting quarterback. It's not like
- 12:51he's missed a ton of games either. He's played hurt
- 12:54in a lot of them, but the backup quarterback for
- 12:57this organization is huge. And the one thing about McKee
- 13:01as opposed to say having like Kenny Pickett who had
- 13:04a lot of starts by comparison, is that mcewe has
- 13:08not just basically played one and a half games. So
- 13:13his development is important because if Jalen Hurts does get hurt,
- 13:15even if it's just a game or two, I mean
- 13:18one or two games, could be the difference between getting
- 13:20the number one seed or.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Not getting the number one seed.
- 13:22Speaker 1: So he's gonna have to be there, be functional, and
- 13:24this team's gonna have to take the field with the
- 13:27ability to win a game because the quarterback can either
- 13:30help them win or win it for them.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Yeah, not much, Dad, You've kind of set it up well.
- 13:36And if we said this in March, no matter what
- 13:39is out there, no, it's not gonna be Donovan Thompson,
- 13:42Robinson or some other quarterback. There was some speculation that, oh,
- 13:46the job's opening, McKee's got to win it. I don't
- 13:49know where the hell that came from. That was completely false.
- 13:53This is about Tanner McKee. The real story is Tarner
- 13:56McKee was better than Kenny Pickett and practice last year,
- 13:59but you don't make you don't really make a depth
- 14:01chart change at quarterback in season. That's very rare. It's happened,
- 14:04but it's very rare, right, and McKee is just this
- 14:07is one of those stories where you did sure as
- 14:10hell didn't see it in training camp as a rookie,
- 14:13but then he put that tape together in training and preseason,
- 14:17and when you have that size of that kind of
- 14:19arm strength and thirty one other teams could see your
- 14:21game tape, you're not gonna wave him. And I hope
- 14:24he gets to the practice, gets gets through that. That's
- 14:28one that would probably keep Hollie up to night if
- 14:30you try to sneak him through and smartly. He didn't
- 14:33do that, you know, so yeah, absolutely, Oh it didn't
- 14:37played okay when he had a playless ye're s only
- 14:39he could play badly? Yeah, I know, you know how.
- 14:41Speaker 1: I mean, fans can be rough. I mean he didn't
- 14:43they don't like him, but I mean they did score
- 14:46thirty some odd points in that game. And yeah, he
- 14:48wasn't great, but he did throw a couple touchdowns. So
- 14:51he's kind of like what you expect of a backup
- 14:52quarterback getting thrown in cold to do so, but we
- 14:57saw Tanner McKee come in and really lighted up. But
- 15:00I think that's what gets people pretty excited about Tanner
- 15:03McKee's future here. Sure, all right, let's move on to
- 15:06number seven. It's sort of an extension of number ten,
- 15:08which was the second inside linebacker. Can't be a problem.
- 15:12But the whole purpose of this podcast isn't what will
- 15:15make the Eagles good again.
- 15:16Speaker 2: It will what can get them back to the super Bowl.
- 15:20Speaker 1: And so, as you mentioned his name before, squarely under
- 15:25the microscope in an important way, is Jeremiah Drodter Junior.
- 15:28I mean he's gonna be the second linebacker because Nikobe
- 15:32Deane's gonna be hurt for a little bit, not back
- 15:34probably til August, and then even Johad Campbell can't practice.
- 15:37I'm sorry, Nikobe Dean will be back to October. Jodd
- 15:40Campbell won't be a practice right August, and we don't
- 15:43know when in August. So Jeremiah trond Junior not only
- 15:47has to just avoid like falling on his face, he's
- 15:50gotta be good.
- 15:50Speaker 2: Really, if this team wants to win a super Bowl.
- 15:52Speaker 1: And Trotter is starting five six games, they need really
- 15:56good play.
- 15:57Speaker 2: From him. Yeah, and look they did not take too
- 16:01much of a step back. I mean, Dean was really good. Look,
- 16:05don't mistake me here. Dean was really really good before
- 16:09he got hurt. It was really a great story, no quo.
- 16:14You know, finally happened from the light one on. He
- 16:15was really really good. But Burks did a really good job.
- 16:20We had questions, we quite because when he played initially
- 16:23he didn't look good, and man boy, he really took off.
- 16:27And Burks has got tremendous size for the inside backer
- 16:29position now he's with the Bengals. But yeah, you don't
- 16:34want you really would like him to be a solid starter.
- 16:37Speaker 3: I just know that.
- 16:40Speaker 2: What did Greg co Sell tell us he thought he
- 16:42liked Trotter's tape then the Kobe's tape from College.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Trotters College Tate more than the Kobe Dean's.
- 16:48Speaker 2: How about that? Yeah, how about that? But but so
- 16:53I would be I'd feel really good about Trotter. I'm
- 16:55I'm thinking because he's got the intelligence for it. We
- 17:00know that neither knock on him as he was really small, Okay,
- 17:05but he doesn't control that. He controls how hard he works,
- 17:07which he does. And they're pretty confident in him that
- 17:10it's you know, it's kind of cool and it's taken.
- 17:13And this is you say, our eight seasons coming up.
- 17:18I remember one of I don't know one of the years,
- 17:21we said the trust is folks, the inside backup. This
- 17:24will not be it will not be an embarrassment anymore.
- 17:26We didn't say it'd be good. I remember saying that,
- 17:29but it's not gonna be an embarrassment anymore. And then
- 17:31now are at the point and vance Ben van Summons
- 17:34on offense. Now, but that was an upside guy who
- 17:37they who flashed for them a little bit trot ju
- 17:40and your the bond story. It's like Christopher Sanchez or
- 17:43the Phillies, like you couldn't make this up, Like there's
- 17:45just this should not be happening, but it is. Yes,
- 17:48So because I've tried to figure out if folks who
- 17:52follow the Phillies know this. Christopher Sanchez was a guy
- 17:55that never showed anything in the minor leagues. You just
- 17:58didn't see anything. I don't know where they are their
- 18:00arm strength, mechanical change, whatever the hell it was. Now
- 18:03he's an absolute ace stud. He might be a number
- 18:06one pitcher on a bunch of teams. Yeah, you know,
- 18:08the guy's incredible, and and Zach Bond She's uh right now,
- 18:13I would say, I mean Fred who was baron Fred
- 18:16Water last season, which is ridiculous to say, but it's true.
- 18:19We now only did Greco Sels say that the guys
- 18:22booked the last week said he can't think of another
- 18:25linebacker that he saw on tape was better than this guy.
- 18:27So they actually might be really good at inside backer,
- 18:30particularly when their first round pick is available.
- 18:35Speaker 1: Absolutely all right, so let's move on to number six.
- 18:39Speaker 2: We'll go back to offense. Hmm.
- 18:42Speaker 1: Aj Dillon must regain his form. So does that mean
- 18:47aj Dillon has to make this team for this team
- 18:50to get back to the Super Bowl.
- 18:51Speaker 2: I mean, well, here's why. No, But here's why. Here's
- 18:54the question. Okay, we I think we went everyone listening
- 18:57watching would agree that Eagles are still going to run
- 19:00team because Barkley's here. Okay, they have to be. You
- 19:02have to justify the contract. It was over two thousand yards. Now,
- 19:06it doesn't mean you have to run it. You don't
- 19:09have to run him to the ground like they did
- 19:11last season. He lasted. It's an amazing story. But they're
- 19:14gonna be a run. They're going to be a run team.
- 19:16You're the only NFL team to run the ball when
- 19:18they passed it in the first half of games, which
- 19:20if you think about this organization football operations wise, it's ridiculous.
- 19:26But it happened and it worked because Barkley was fantastic.
- 19:30But if Barkley gets hurt, there are serious questions about
- 19:35volume with ship Laid. I mean I know that because
- 19:37that's you know, that was what we were told at
- 19:39the draft. Everything we've heard from personal people in the league,
- 19:42they kind of sort of agree, like he's explosive, you
- 19:45worry about the body frame. How much volume could he handle?
- 19:48A Jjillen could hand a volume. That's not the problem.
- 19:51We just don't know what he is. He didn't play
- 19:52last season.
- 19:53Speaker 1: I'll tell you what if you get the best case scenario,
- 19:56if aj Dylon is not only healthy, but he looks
- 19:59like the running back for his first two years with
- 20:01the Packers and take on Barkley's healthy and behind that
- 20:05offensive line, holy cow. I mean the Egles no, well,
- 20:09fifty times in a game people to try to start,
- 20:13you think people want to People think that Eagles are
- 20:15gonna come out and run like six toush pushes in
- 20:17a row just to get at the Packers and the
- 20:18rest league. They can just hand it off to Barkley,
- 20:21then Dylan and Barkley and Dylan and just bulldoze their
- 20:23way down the field into the end zone.
- 20:25Speaker 2: Well, and then the other thing is, you know I
- 20:27said this when they signed in March, like they need
- 20:29a closer. When they're up big. You don't need to
- 20:33run Barkley. You absolutely do not. If they're up by
- 20:35seventeen with ten minutes left, get get Barkley out, get
- 20:38Delan in. That's why he's there. I like it, definitely
- 20:42like that.
- 20:43Speaker 1: All right, let's go to our next five five top five.
- 20:46Speaker 2: As we do a top you know, it's funny this
- 20:48number five option. You might you might say this needs
- 20:50to be number three, but keep going. It might, it might.
- 20:54Speaker 1: Before we do that, everybody's got to hear a word
- 20:57from our great friends at sky Mode Cars, sky.
- 21:02Speaker 3: Motor Cars and West Gutter. There's a different fild of
- 21:04dealership all the Texas. One look with their highline pre

- 21:22spend more than desk journey does. A Skymotorcars dot Com
- 21:25today are called six ten, nine, one, eight, seven, two fives.
- 21:32Speaker 1: All right, do yourself a favor. Get the best car
- 21:35shopping experience you can get. Go in to Skymotor Cars
- 21:39out there in Westchester, PA. Tell them Adam just sent you,

- 22:02a sales pitch, It's the absolute truth. If not, just
- 22:05go to skymotorcars dot com, all right. Reason number five,
- 22:11Key number five is to say, for the Eagles to
- 22:14make another Super Bowl run, and this one is the
- 22:16offensive side, the tight end position must be or must
- 22:21result in a solid.
- 22:23Speaker 2: Number two option.
- 22:26Speaker 1: You could argue, I mean, you could argue Dallas. Goddard
- 22:29was actually the number one option through the playoffs because
- 22:32he led them in receptions and receiving yards in the postseason.
- 22:38Speaker 2: Right, but if Goddard gets hurt, which his sister says
- 22:41it almost certain to happen, they've got to have a
- 22:45solid too. I'm sorry, capitarists, not a solid too. He
- 22:47don't block very well. He's an athlete, he's just look,
- 22:52there's a reason why. And let's face it. The Eagles
- 22:55brought in Legles, had six other tight ends because they
- 22:58knew that to start free agency were they were looking
- 23:01the trade guard by all measures got it was going
- 23:04to be moved. But it frankly for their case, they
- 23:06found a way to make it work. But they signed
- 23:10Kylon Grantson, They signed Harrison Bryant, They brought back Nick Mws,
- 23:14Cameron lay too. They brought in another X forty nine
- 23:17er EJ. Jenkins has been here and Calco Terror's on
- 23:19the finding of his rookie deal. Someone's got emerge. If
- 23:22Goddard can't play, someone who they could rely on like
- 23:26Harrison Brian, who's no offense to Kylin Grantson. He's just
- 23:28a better football player. Brian's way better, more talented than
- 23:32Green Kyle Katara. So let's see if Brian could be
- 23:36that guy. There's not he Look, they could wind up
- 23:39cutting him too if he doesn't perform. The guaranteed money
- 23:41in his contract's not very much, so let's see what happens.
- 23:44But with god Os gentry history, they need an answer
- 23:47if he can't play.
- 23:48Speaker 1: It's interesting. They all bring something different to the table.
- 23:51I feel like Kylon Grandson of the three is probably
- 23:53the best vertical Yeah. Yeah, So it's all gonna be
- 23:58like where where, what the what are the Eagles specifically
- 24:01looking for you? And I would love to see them
- 24:03just be able to find a guy who can block
- 24:06capably and catch the ball, which is hard because those
- 24:11guys are usually starting tight ends.
- 24:14Speaker 2: So I'm one.
- 24:14Speaker 1: I just wonder if some kind of this might be
- 24:17the camp where somebody emerges you know that you know
- 24:20is a DJ Jenkins.
- 24:20Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 24:21Speaker 1: I know he's two hundred and sixty pounds. He's been
- 24:23working on his blocking for the last year. He caught
- 24:25the ball when Tanner mckeeth threw it to him in
- 24:27that game they played. So I'm really looking forward to
- 24:30the tight end competition this year, and I'm kind of
- 24:33going into it with an open mind, you know, I
- 24:36just want to see all these guys compete and see
- 24:38which one rises to the top.
- 24:39Speaker 2: This might be a year for them to definitely keep three,
- 24:41got it. Obviously, Harrison Bryant is one of the twelve
- 24:46players they signed to a one year deal one point
- 24:50two million, seven hundred and eighty k fully guaranteed signing,
- 24:53Kylen Grantson one year, one point seventy five million, one million,
- 24:57fully guaranteed signing. So I mean, I could see them
- 24:59keeping both of them, Goddard Grantson and Brian saying goodbye
- 25:02to Calcatara and Jenkins. And I could certainly see that,
- 25:07And I'd be surprised, quite frankly, if Grantson and Bryant perform. Well,
- 25:12I'd be surprised if they're cut, because they bring something
- 25:15totally different from one another. And Brian's more of a
- 25:19He could play the wide position, which is in line,
- 25:20you could he could play the a F. Grants Grants
- 25:23is a little bit more like to play the a F,
- 25:25which is the move he's you'll see the guy he's
- 25:29lineup off set the F tight end. So that but
- 25:33again with Goddard's propensity of getting hurt. You gotta have
- 25:36someones more reliable in Calcutara. That that's that's to me
- 25:39why they did this with Granted and Bryant. They they
- 25:41want a competition again. These guys bring something different.
- 25:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I love I agree with you, and I think
- 25:46you're right to say that someone's got to emerge as
- 25:48a really solid number two option for this team, uh
- 25:51to get back to the super Bowl. All right, Number four, Hey,
- 25:55this one you can make an argument. It's it's number one.
- 25:57You know, any of these top four can make an
- 26:00argument a number one. And that's about the edge group, Adam,
- 26:03this young edge tandem of Jaylex Hunt and Nolan Smith
- 26:06gotta stay healthy, got to develop, and there's gonna be
- 26:10times because Vic Fangio wants to only rush four that
- 26:13they're gonna have to dominate the person in front of them.
- 26:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:18Speaker 2: I mean, look, I know, because they're the kings of
- 26:20sim pressures like, they don't want to blitz. They're going
- 26:22to be low twenty percent blitz percentage. That's that's coming again,
- 26:26no surprise to anybody. The question is and we actually
- 26:30got this is I think more than one person asked
- 26:32this this in the YouTube comments. Do the guys have
- 26:35a number one past rushing or do they need one?
- 26:40I just feel like they have. Smith has got to
- 26:42take the next step. He's coming off surgery now, he
- 26:44had a good three quarters of the season. He needs
- 26:46to build on that. Sheeggs. Hunt has never been a
- 26:48full time starter. This is year four for them, for
- 26:51him as just an edge rusher. Two years at Acuston
- 26:55Christian in two years with the Eagles. It's a first
- 26:58time starter. Well at least he's projected to start. It's
- 27:01not a lock he starts, but he's right now. He's
- 27:03a starter obviously. Nolan Smith, he's an emerging player. This
- 27:07is a big step. This is like, it's kind of
- 27:09this is kind of like skipping step two and getting
- 27:11the three. Like this is like if you're a single
- 27:14A baseball player and you're you're, you're so dominant single A,
- 27:18you move up to triple A, and then you're you're
- 27:20you're killing in triple A. You're they're bringing up immediately.
- 27:23It's a big step. Man. We'll see what happens. But
- 27:27to me, though, the reason why I think they'll be
- 27:29okay is Ojilari is so good his pressure rate for
- 27:34the snapsy the guts is very good. We know josh
- 27:37uche hasn't been a factor of the last two seasons.
- 27:39We get that. I still feel that now. Of course
- 27:44you'll have Camel could factor into that at some point
- 27:46this season. We don't know that yet. We'll have to
- 27:48see what happens. But I feel pretty good with what
- 27:50I sold from Nolan Smith. Now. I think what they'll
- 27:53what they'll do in training camp is they'll they'll take
- 27:55a look at how he looks. We'll see how Hunt's
- 27:58coming along, and of Sjelari they kind of know, but
- 28:01he's got to learn their system and new Chade, see
- 28:04what he if he's regained anything. If they have serious questions,
- 28:08that's when they have to add a veteran. If if
- 28:10all are coming along and Powell Rylan looks good, they
- 28:12don't have to do anything, but there are questions there.
- 28:15But to get to the super Bowl. That's that's what
- 28:17this show's about. This is not top ten train camp questions.
- 28:19This is about getting the super Bowl. Yes, the Smith
- 28:23and Hunt have to take a big step. Let me
- 28:25ask you this question. Who's got to take a bigger step?
- 28:27Hunter Smith?
- 28:30Speaker 1: Mmm?
- 28:31Speaker 2: Well, I mean, does it matter.
- 28:33Speaker 1: Just one of them has to become a dominant pass rusher,
- 28:36I think, and then the other one will probably you know,
- 28:38Jalen Carter's ability to draw double teams is going to
- 28:41create one of them. Comments everybody, So one person has
- 28:45to be this year's version of what the Eagles have
- 28:48had forever in from Trent Cole to Brandon Graham to
- 28:52Josh Sweat to Hasan Reddick back to Sweat, They've always
- 28:55had the one guy who could just whoop the guy
- 28:58in front of him right. Oh to me, it honestly
- 29:01doesn't matter whether it's Hunt or Smith. They just need
- 29:04one of them. And if both of them.
- 29:07Speaker 2: Can do that consistently, then they're gonna be It's gonna
- 29:09be really fun to watch.
- 29:10Speaker 1: If both of them show growing pains and struggle, it's
- 29:14gonna be a little bit of an interesting decision for
- 29:17Vic Fangio as to can I squeeze more juice out
- 29:20of Ojilari and let's see what Ouch is doing if
- 29:23you know.
- 29:23Speaker 2: If he winds up making the team and everything. So
- 29:26from when I'm told with Jalen Carter, one of the
- 29:29things that he has to improve on is defeating double teams.
- 29:32I get it. It's not easy. No one gets more
- 29:35double team at the detackle position than Carter, I believe.
- 29:37I know for most of the season he led the
- 29:38NFL and getting double team. He's got to learn how
- 29:42to do it. That is what we're told from someone
- 29:44who studied his state last season, someone who I really respect.
- 29:48But then NFL team told me that that's what their
- 29:51tape study showed on Carter as they studied the Eagles.
- 29:54So I get it. That's hard to do, but that's
- 29:57part of it. When you're a terrific talent who's incredibly disruptive,
- 30:00you're gonna draw a crowd. Yeah, as you said, it
- 30:04should help. That helped Milt Williams, no question about it.
- 30:06And they're not gonna Milt Williams by the way. That's
- 30:08that's big. But I let's put it this way. I
- 30:13don't know that. I don't see an elite edge rusher
- 30:15from Smith or Hunt. Hunt is just Hunt's a mystery.
- 30:20We don't know. He's just an emerging player. We don't
- 30:23know what he can be as a pass rusher yet.
- 30:25Smith Smith because of the power element. He finally added
- 30:28the power element, which was never there that that was
- 30:31pretty interesting. But man, if I would just I think
- 30:34by committee they could be pretty good. If Smith and
- 30:36Hunter a solid you know, Jelai is one of the
- 30:39better frees in the NFL, They're good. I'm and I'm
- 30:42fine with if he's just okay. But if if if Smith,
- 30:46Hunting o Jely are average, they have a major problem.
- 30:50That would be an issue.
- 30:51Speaker 1: Absolutely, It's been a long time since you say, man,
- 30:54the Euglos four men Russia is just kind of average.
- 30:56Speaker 2: I mean, this is what they build the good team
- 30:58aroud because look in twenty seventeen, they had Curry, Chris Long,
- 31:05who are the other edges, Brandon Graham, Derek Barnett, yep,
- 31:11and they had some pretty good interior.
- 31:14Speaker 1: X they had Timmy Jernigaine, and then Brandon would slide
- 31:17in into the Nichols spot. Yeah, they played three edge
- 31:21rushers because Chris Long and Barnett and.
- 31:24Speaker 2: We're doing so good that year. Yeah, if ojis Chris Long,
- 31:27I'm good. I mean that that's that that's And honestly,
- 31:31Chris did a great job of arriving's career right with
- 31:35New England because you know, the word around the league
- 31:37was with the Rams boy, his his tape was not
- 31:39great in this tenure with the Rams, and peer wonder
- 31:41if he could still play. And he revived his career
- 31:43with the Patriots and then for the Eagles did a
- 31:44great job. But Jali's got it, There's no question about it.
- 31:49It's just I don't know what it is with these injuries.
- 31:51It's the worst luck. You know, the Patriots.
- 31:53Speaker 1: When Chris Long was with the Patriots, if you looked
- 31:55at the stats, you'd say, no, he was still not
- 31:57he wasn't good, but they were actually playing him. I
- 32:00remember talking to Chris about this as a three technique
- 32:03on pass rushers in past rush situations like when they
- 32:07were in nickel and subpackages, and you know you can
- 32:11see it from Brandon Graham because he's got that stocky,
- 32:14compact frame. It shocked me that they tried to do
- 32:17that Chris Long, and obviously, you know he played for them.
- 32:20He didn't have great stats, but when he came back
- 32:21to the Eagles, they put him back on the edges and.
- 32:23Speaker 2: The wide nine better.
- 32:25Speaker 1: He was better, he was healthy and you could just
- 32:26see that explosion come back to his game.
- 32:29Speaker 2: Well, I know the Patriots felt he could still play,
- 32:31and he that's why he was there. But yeah, he
- 32:33definitely was a better pass rusher with the Eagles and
- 32:35playing on a Schwortzee with that that nine technique was
- 32:38I mean, it's it's kind of it's very rare for
- 32:41someone to play the nine and not do well in it.
- 32:45It's just the running jokes. You play the run on
- 32:48the way of the quarterback, which I love that line anyway, Yes, all.
- 32:52Speaker 1: Right, Number three is a great one because it sort
- 32:56of also allows us to vote our recent inside the
- 32:58data with Sam Fake. It was such a good study
- 33:02by Sam. Somebody had asked him, like to look at
- 33:05the data of right guard Tyler Steen when he starts
- 33:11versus when he has to play in a game off
- 33:13the bench, and what do those metrics show? And then
- 33:17what do those metrics mean for him, you know, competing
- 33:20for the starting job, Which was a little tougher to
- 33:22answer because sample size matters when you're talking about data
- 33:26and metrics, and there wasn't a big sample size for
- 33:28him to begin with, and then even less when you
- 33:30split it into starts versus non starts or when you're
- 33:32coming in called off the bench.
- 33:34Speaker 2: So there were the numbers were.
- 33:36Speaker 1: I don't want to say they were all over the place,
- 33:37but they told a couple of different stories. And I
- 33:39think if you really go and have an opportunity to
- 33:41listen to the podcast or watch it on YouTube where
- 33:44we show the charts and we show the metrics, Sam
- 33:46does an unbelievable job of putting them together in a
- 33:49very user friendly way. It was a really great and
- 33:51enlightening podcast, and it got me excited, and we kind
- 33:54of came to the same conclusion looking at the numbers
- 33:58that you feel the same way, and that's Tyler Steen
- 34:02does not have to go in at right guard and
- 34:04play like an All Pro or a Pro Bowl or
- 34:08like the He doesn't have to.
- 34:10Speaker 2: I get it.
- 34:10Speaker 1: Everybody else on the line has made a Pro Bowl,
- 34:12they're All Pro team. But he doesn't have to. He
- 34:15just has to be hold his own be adequate. Makai
- 34:19Beckten McKai Beckton actually struggled a lot more than people
- 34:22think he did, but compensated because you're playing around an
- 34:25elite offensive line. So if Tyler Stein could go in
- 34:29and play anywhere near Makai Beckton's level, although he's not
- 34:32as massive of a human being, so run blocking might
- 34:35not be the same, but.
- 34:36Speaker 2: That'll be fine.
- 34:37Speaker 1: That's all the Eagles need, Adam is Tyler Steen to
- 34:40be a functional starting right guard.
- 34:42Speaker 2: Can't be a problem, right, it's a problem, right. Talking
- 34:45to on line coaches over the years, they always say
- 34:47to me, like if I'd ask about a guard and
- 34:51you get that, like the similar response, well, we'll be
- 34:54fine there, We'll be okay there. They just don't want
- 34:57to be a problem because they know they're they're a
- 35:00tackle or they're really good at tackle, which is about
- 35:02protecting the quarterback, you know, for the run game. Don't
- 35:06let it be a problem, right, don't get beat like
- 35:09Beck then had some it was fohen We're told it
- 35:11was it was technique issues he had because he was
- 35:14remember he.
- 35:15Speaker 3: On the fly.
- 35:16Speaker 2: I mean, look, he never played guard in his life.
- 35:18Last May was his first exposure to guard. You know,
- 35:22he had to learn it. And he wasn't really signed
- 35:24to play guard. It's signed to be the swing tackle.
- 35:26And it just one of these things with the Eagles
- 35:30that you can't explain. But you notice the trend here,
- 35:34like the cross training and it turns out to be
- 35:35home runs like that. That's great coaching, and it's with
- 35:38how he signing the players. He deserves credit, but it's
- 35:41coaches seeing something different. M and you got to give
- 35:44the Wiley Vetts, Statland obviously with Beckton and others over
- 35:49the years, and Vic Fangio with Bonnets. I'm sure folks
- 35:54who are who have been around a long time could
- 35:56tell us who were in their sixties and seventies are watching.
- 35:59I'm sure there's some great stories of guys changed the
- 36:01positions with the Eagles in the sixties, seventies and eighties.
- 36:04But the Bond story is an old timer. My lot
- 36:08one that didn't have a story because he was a
- 36:10rugby player, so that's the best one. But the Beca
- 36:14one was one of those where, okay, stuff thinks is
- 36:17going to work, so you gotta trust him, and it worked.
- 36:19But it cannot be a problem here, Yes, can't be
- 36:22a problem. You don't have to be great.
- 36:24Speaker 1: You just can't be the guy every week who's getting
- 36:28the quarterback hit and sacked and all that or this
- 36:31is a run block for yeah. Yeah, you just gotta
- 36:33be fundamentally sound and assignments.
- 36:35Speaker 2: Sound, be functional. Yeah, just be fine, right awesome.
- 36:38Speaker 1: So that also we stay on the offensive line for
- 36:41number two, what's number two Adam, What do you think
- 36:43is the set of all these ten keys is as
- 36:47important to the Eagles winning this?
- 36:48Speaker 2: This is big because this is Jalen Hurts, a six
- 36:52play caller of his career. Okay, Kevin Petullo's the latest.
- 36:58This is just the NFL career, by the way, I
- 37:00know it's at least eleven going back to his dad,
- 37:04that's a lot. Because he said it last year. I
- 37:07was blown away when he just threw it out there.
- 37:08I was like, holy smokes, wow. So it The good
- 37:12thing is he's worked with Petullo since since twenty one.
- 37:16They know each other very very well. Kevin petula knows
- 37:19his strengths and weaknesses or whatever challenges, whatever you want
- 37:21to call it, and the communication between two should be
- 37:25great because they know each other. Yeah, Kevin has been
- 37:28involved in developing them as a passing game coordinator, as
- 37:33Sirianni's right hand man as the chief of staff over
- 37:37the years, like he involved in game planning, whatever his
- 37:39role had been. So he knows Jalen very well. But
- 37:42it's got to be smooth in that it's in different
- 37:46voice in his ear calling the play, which is one
- 37:49thing on game day, but designing now thetulo is actually
- 37:52responsible for designing the plays with input, and he's got
- 37:56take Jalen's input what he likes and what he doesn't like.
- 37:59That's what John T Flipbok would tell us when on Friday,
- 38:04after Friday's practice, they start like throughout the week, you're communicating,
- 38:08and then you start taking stuff out like the quarterback
- 38:10didn't like to do in a week, right, and then
- 38:12obviously Nick knows him super well. So this is uh,
- 38:16you know, this is this is going to be a
- 38:18interesting situation here. Oh and Scott Leffler, you know that
- 38:21this is an adjunct to it. Scott Leffler Hurts relationship
- 38:26is something that we have to watch one hundred percent.
- 38:29Speaker 1: And I I, like I said for three and four,
- 38:32I think this one is as important as any It
- 38:35could be number one because of what you mentioned, the history,
- 38:38how tough it is to keep losing coordinators, the fact
- 38:41that he does at least have that rapport with Jalen Hurts.
- 38:45I mean that should absolutely help in Kevin Batulo's case.
- 38:49So you keep that, but you also go outside with
- 38:51Scott Leffler and maybe that brings in some ideas and creativity.
- 38:56The bottom line is the room just has to be solid.
- 38:58The ideas have to be accepted the coaching to Jalen,
- 39:02and not only that, but the coaching's reception of what
- 39:05Jalen wants to do also has to be all in line.
- 39:09And it's not that it's aligned every day every game
- 39:13one through seventeen. I'm sure you know even though that
- 39:16that there were times Kellen Moore and and Jalen Hurts
- 39:19had to like go through things in the offense in
- 39:21general had to be what sort of looking for how
- 39:25to be.
- 39:25Speaker 2: Like not negotchit.
- 39:26Speaker 1: I agreed on that everybody wants to make sure that
- 39:28what's best is best for the quarterback. Where yes, simpatico,
- 39:32which doesn't mean you agree on everything, It just means
- 39:35you work on what works best.
- 39:37Speaker 2: And that has to happen this year with the faces.
- 39:40The smooth transition. Yeah, that's that's the Scott Leffler's the
- 39:44quarterbacks coach who, from what we're told, does coach hard like.
- 39:47He's the guy's a former head coach to at Bawl
- 39:50and Green, so he also worked for the Lions. He
- 39:53interviewed for the quarterbacks job Underflip in twenty fifteen. That
- 39:59went to Kevin Connell, by the way, was it came
- 40:01down a leftler and a Kevin O'Connell for that quarterbacks
- 40:04job to coach Johnnie Manzil and Josh McCown by the
- 40:08way twenty fifteen. You know that is an interesting point too.
- 40:11Speaker 1: I don't know as Jalen had a quarterbacks coach yet
- 40:15who has been a former head coach. I mean, I
- 40:19know Marty Morning was part of the staff when Jalen
- 40:21was a rookie, right, right, that's right, But I'm really taught,
- 40:25but that he was a rookie.
- 40:26Speaker 2: He wasn't a starter at that time. He was. He
- 40:28wound up starting at the end of the year.
- 40:30Speaker 1: But since Nick Sirianni took over, his first quarterbacks coach
- 40:34was Brian Johnson. Correct, yep, was Brian. He's never been
- 40:37a college no, no.
- 40:39Speaker 2: OC and college at Florida in Utah, right And Alex
- 40:42Tanney was never ahead or college nothing, no, no, he
- 40:46just retired a couple of years. So that's what I'm saying.
- 40:49Speaker 1: This is pretty interesting because this is the first time
- 40:51that his quarter his position coach brings a little like
- 40:54cashe has been a head coach as used to being
- 40:57like a leader of men and really expecting what he
- 41:00says to be taking it, you know, like he's not
- 41:03just like you said, not like Alex Hander, you're just
- 41:05retired from playing the spot a couple of years earlier.
- 41:08Speaker 2: I do think that that's pretty interesting. Yeah, so that's
- 41:12something we'll you know, we'll put our ears to the
- 41:14grindstone as as the saying goes, and we'll we'll see
- 41:18how it goes. But that that's a big one. But
- 41:20the number one key for super Bowl run. This is
- 41:24a super Bowl run though. Remember, yeah, it's not just
- 41:27this is not just training camp questions has nothing to
- 41:29do with it. It's tied into it, but it's not
- 41:32about winning. This is about winning a Super Bowl. Yeah,
- 41:35and it's on defense. Could you guess what it might be?
- 41:37What's one position we haven't talked about. Cornerback?
- 41:39Speaker 1: Cornerback, Yeah, and yes, cornerback and safety you know CJGJ.
- 41:43You could throw either of that that you just need
- 41:45you need guys to come in and play at a
- 41:46high level of these positions. These are not positions you
- 41:49can hide, especially cornerback.
- 41:51Speaker 2: No, and they're very light a corner obsequent on Mitchell
- 41:54because they've got an aging Jry Jackson turns thirty in
- 41:57the fall, so that means he's thirty in NFL years.
- 42:01And you've got Ringo who lost the starting cornerback job
- 42:07to Isaiah Rodgers, and he lost it very early in
- 42:09training camp and Rodgers hadn't didn't even play the year
- 42:11before that. That's not a good sign. So Ringo needs
- 42:15to take these good off seasons and take it to
- 42:18training camp, win the job, and as we get through
- 42:21the season, and even if Jackson wins it or he
- 42:26takes it later in the season, it's got a result
- 42:29in solid performances. It can't just be average because what's
- 42:32gonna happen is folks, they will club offenses go against
- 42:36these will specifically target that that cornerback position. Obsequently on Mitchell,
- 42:41that will happen. That's coming. It's coming no matter what.
- 42:45But if it's really bad, it's really gonna come and
- 42:50to be And this is another one where you get
- 42:53to late August. How he's got a lot of draft
- 42:56picks next year. It doesn't look a good at corner's
- 43:00gonna happen. Oh he's not. He's not gonna let them
- 43:02bring it to heat. It's someone he used to work
- 43:04for how he told me he called him elite problem solver.
- 43:07So that was a great line because he sees something
- 43:11and he goes, this is not right. We're not gonna
- 43:13let this linger. That's that's sometimes you have to be
- 43:16willing to pull the trigger. He's he's not risk averse man,
- 43:20he's he's done. Give a shit. She's my language. But
- 43:22he's like, whatever it's going to take, that's mixing the
- 43:25best to do it.
- 43:27Speaker 1: And certainly that cornerback spot with has which has been
- 43:30manned by Darius slay now for it was five years
- 43:34and two super Bowls, and he played pretty well. He
- 43:36may not have been the guy from Detroit, but he
- 43:38was pretty good and really good and good good corners
- 43:41that can hold up. And you're right, someone's got to
- 43:44perform in that spot.
- 43:46Speaker 2: You know, it's funny and I know he's he turns, yeah,
- 43:49he turns thirty five, and in uh in January, we
- 43:52forget how well Sleigh looked late in the season, Like
- 43:55I know, mid season there are questions about how well
- 43:58he was moving. You know, he the knee surgery the
- 44:00year before, and you know that when you know, once
- 44:03you get to a certain age, in the NFL, you're
- 44:05you know, you're pretty beat up, or you're you're near
- 44:06the end. We'll see how well that the Steelers have
- 44:09clearly have no no problem with him because they're paying
- 44:12them ten million fully guaranteed, so they obviously think he'll
- 44:14last the entire season. I'll see what happens, and they
- 44:16often they made the trade for Jalen Ramsey as well.
- 44:19But there's really nowhere else to go here. It's like
- 44:21Quentnea Metchall looks like he's on his way to being
- 44:23stud and that's about it. Yeah, So that that's even
- 44:28if one of the even if Ringo looks great in
- 44:30training camp and it's clearic, wow, this might be a
- 44:32breakout season now. But if Jackson doesn't look good, I
- 44:37still might I think how he's got to look at
- 44:39this because you I refuse to believe that this can't
- 44:42be a team. I'm not a fan like Jeff and
- 44:44Iron fans. We're just we're we're realists. This is a
- 44:48well oiled machine, really put together well by a really
- 44:50good general manager, maybe great general manager, but it doesn't
- 44:54mean there's some flaws on the roster. And if you
- 44:56want to make a Super Bowl run, with his team,
- 44:59and you want to answer every question, I still would
- 45:01add another corner right right, You just hit it on
- 45:04the head.
- 45:05Speaker 1: They can see what they've got and then maybe something
- 45:07really works out well. But if it's not working out well,
- 45:10Howie is not going to let that one spot be
- 45:13the reason this team doesn't get back to the super Bowl.
- 45:15Speaker 2: He will do exactly. I think that was the point
- 45:19of the whole podcast, and that's what this podcast was about.
- 45:22What will it take?
- 45:23Speaker 1: What are the top ten keys for the Eagles to
- 45:25make it back to the Super Bowl?
- 45:28Speaker 2: And there you have it.
- 45:29Speaker 1: For Adam Kaplan, I'm Jeff Mosher. Those are the ten
- 45:33keys you have been listening to Inside the Birds, the
