- 0:00Speaker 1: Time now for back to the Basics and healthcare with
- 0:02Speaker 1: doctor Harley from Balanced Life kind of Apractic. How you doing,
- 0:05Speaker 1: doctor Harley.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Hey John, it's been a good start to the week.
- 0:08Speaker 2: I always enjoy our talks weekly.
- 0:10Speaker 1: Yeah, and we're going to talk about ear infections. This
- 0:13Speaker 1: is like apparently the time of year for that, isn't it.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I've been seeing a little bit more of an uptick,
- 0:17Speaker 2: especially in kiddos. You know, adults can get them too,
- 0:20Speaker 2: but you definitely see it more in kids and like
- 0:22Speaker 2: toddlers and even babies. You know, as a parent, like
- 0:27Speaker 2: when you have a kid that has like reoccurring ear infections,
- 0:29Speaker 2: like you know what I'm talking about, it it's kind
- 0:31Speaker 2: of frustrating, kind of annoying, and you know you're like, well,
- 0:35Speaker 2: I don't really want to have to get tubes in
- 0:37Speaker 2: their ears. What else can we do? Maybe might not know,
- 0:40Speaker 2: but chiropractic can help with ear infections.
- 0:42Speaker 1: And I know some people who've done this, so it's
- 0:44Speaker 1: absolutely positively something that can make a difference. Probably not
- 0:48Speaker 1: going to make a difference for everybody that you don't
- 0:49Speaker 1: know what everybody's issue is, but it's certainly worth taking
- 0:52Speaker 1: a look to see, because it would be way better
- 0:54Speaker 1: than the alternative, right.
- 0:56Speaker 2: You know, just like in all things, not every person,
- 0:59Speaker 2: every kid is going to respond like at one hundred percent.
- 1:02Speaker 2: You know, we help a lot of them. Sometimes there's
- 1:04Speaker 2: some cases that we you know, it's something else going on,
- 1:07Speaker 2: like you said, But a lot of times upper neck
- 1:10Speaker 2: misalignments can be causing those ear infections because the top
- 1:14Speaker 2: couple bones in our neck, the nerves that come out
- 1:16Speaker 2: through there, they actually go back up into a head
- 1:18Speaker 2: and around the sea two, that second segment in our spine,
- 1:21Speaker 2: those nerves actually directly go back into the ear. So
- 1:23Speaker 2: a lot of times you do find that C two
- 1:25Speaker 2: misalignments are a big cause of ear problems, be it earaches,
- 1:30Speaker 2: ear infections, you know, clogging ears, you know, like difficulty hearing,
- 1:34Speaker 2: like just feel like there's pressure in the ears, that
- 1:37Speaker 2: kind of stuff, as well as you know, balance equilibrium,
- 1:41Speaker 2: dizziness as well, because it's inner ears. A lot of
- 1:44Speaker 2: our equilibrium like balance center. But going back to like
- 1:47Speaker 2: the ear infections thing, one thing with that is are
- 1:50Speaker 2: you station tube, So it's the tube that drains the
- 1:52Speaker 2: pressure out of our inner ear. It goes into like
- 1:54Speaker 2: the back of the throat, as kids, it's kind of
- 1:58Speaker 2: more parallel. It's really flat, and as we get older,
- 2:02Speaker 2: they start to actually start pointing downwards more. So that's
- 2:04Speaker 2: a big correlation for why kids have more, you know,
- 2:08Speaker 2: frequent ear infections or it's easier for them to get
- 2:10Speaker 2: ear infections, just as those tubes don't drain as well.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Now when you add extra irritation, pressure, weather, change, is
- 2:17Speaker 2: getting sick, inflammation, all these other things, that makes it
- 2:19Speaker 2: even worse for the por kiddos with those ear infections.
- 2:22Speaker 2: So we see that, you know, helping reduce pressure in
- 2:25Speaker 2: the upper neck that C two C one region. That's
- 2:28Speaker 2: going to help take the pressure out of the ear
- 2:30Speaker 2: more and as well as helping those nerves to function
- 2:32Speaker 2: better going to the ear, helping to one prevent ear
- 2:36Speaker 2: infections too. You know, if you have a current ear infection,
- 2:39Speaker 2: it can help ease that and help their body heal
- 2:42Speaker 2: faster from that ear infection, helping prevent the reoccurring ear infections.
- 2:46Speaker 1: And kind of help everything drain that's not draining right right,
- 2:49Speaker 1: and this time of year it is when the weather's changing.
- 2:51Speaker 1: This weekend, I was not ready for this at all,
- 2:53Speaker 1: but this weekend I was. I opened the back of
- 2:55Speaker 1: my vehicle. I was loading and unloading some equipment and
- 2:57Speaker 1: I had leaves blowing in my car. I'm like, what
- 3:00Speaker 1: is happening here?
- 3:01Speaker 2: Fall is coming?
- 3:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm not ready for that, but it's here, whether
- 3:04Speaker 1: we're ready for it or not. And as the seasons
- 3:07Speaker 1: change and as kids are going back to school and
- 3:09Speaker 1: around others, this is when it's just a little more prevalent.
- 3:11Speaker 1: So if there's somebody that's right now tackling this in
- 3:14Speaker 1: their daily life, or if maybe they just want to
- 3:16Speaker 1: try to avoid it completely, how do they get in
- 3:18Speaker 1: touch with you?
